"Football time now to do something that no team ever wants to do, which is go three and out. Nice. All right. It's the start of the season. We're gonna tackle three big topics from this week. We're gonna dive right into this one on a Friday and include the team that we saw last time. It's time for our first down. Here we go. Here we go. And we're gonna stick with the Raiders. Who got the win over the Jaguars in the Hall of Fame game in canton, and there's been a lot of hype out in Vegas, so Chandler Jones joining max Crosby on defense, college, BFF, sterile Carr and devonta Adams being reunited a Hall of Famer Hall of Famer. We're not really sure. So is anything less than a playoff win? A failure for the 2022 raiders. I fail you failure. A failure? No, brand new head coach, brand new GM and Dave ziegler like there's a lot going on there. Not only on the offensive side of the ball, but they also have a new defensive coordinator and Patrick Graham. There's a lot of change going on. Couple that with, let's see what the Raiders schedule looks like. We've already talked about schedule talk Jason. They can make some great strides and get to the playoffs, which would be a nice jump yet. They got back, they got their last year, but it's a lot of change going on there in Las Vegas. Tell me what I'm looking at then I'm so scared. I hate you guys as players. Do you ever overlook a schedule to be like, of course? Well, the season. It's just not going to go our way. We put a Cardinals week on. Well, when I was on the browns when we looked at the schedule. We're talking about precincts of the browns in 2017, not a preseason schedule. Take us back to that. Were you guys feeling good? You thought you were I remember Greg Williams, said it all the time. Like you want to win, you have to win. You have to learn what it feels like to win. So these preseason games are important. We have to win. It's going to carry over in the season. Did it carry over? No, we went almost 16. The winless Lions also were affordable. They were not kidding. That's the same. Peter, what do you think? It's a question like is it? Could last year they went to the playoffs with an interim coach? Amidst that Jon Gruden chaos that happened and then Henry ruggs situation. I can go on and on. They had all this adversity and they still found a way to the playoffs. So you're like, of course, they've got to get better. But gosh, the AFC getting really good. And also, it's not like this is the rams from last year where they had all these players. It was one year deals, or it's not like even the packers where we don't know if Rogers, I look at these players, they're not going anywhere. This is not a one year team. They have built something for real and you mentioned Dave ziegler, who's the new general manager, comes over from New England, where I believe he was there when you were there, Jason. It's not a well-known name, but what he did was he signed these guys to multiyear deals. Derek Carr, Davante Adams. It Renfro wallard. These guys aren't going anywhere. So I don't feel like it's an all in, make or break. They can go to the playoffs, they can win a game, and if they don't, I don't think they're blowing the whole thing up this year, and it won't be viewed as a failure. It's a start of a new era as you said before I jump down your throat. Josh McDaniels, Dave ziegler, and of course all these new coaching staff and players. And I will say this one more time. There's a big patriots influence of winning football and it's not just Daniel. I was talking about daron Harmon, talking about Brandon Bolden. You're talking about a lot of different guys. Jacob Johnson, that were in New England that they brought with them. So I think they're built to last. It's not just a one year deal. They disagree. Think of the hypothetical. The Raiders go ten and 7, and they get into the wild card. And let's say they even win it. Let's say they beat the Titans in the wild card round and then lose by 25 to the chiefs than a divisional. I think that's a failed season too. In August my expectations are high. Those players we just showed. Look at that stadium. Look at that town. What are we talking about? Yeah, get in there, that's fine, nice little starter season. No, I think the expectations are very high. I don't think the AFC west maybe is going to be as tough as if people think it's going to be for them. The Raiders are extremely talented. They brought out all the players, they brought on the coach. I don't think getting a playoff win or maybe two is too much to ask. What are we doing here? This is professional football. Let's go. Your big boys go get it. The AFC west, the more I look at it, read about it, listen to podcasts about it. It's gonna make me pull my hair out, which is really sad because I like to put braids in my hair. Yeah. It's like a nightmare you can't wake up from. Any team, just pick it, look at their schedule when they have to play their divisional opponents, and it is a nightmare. You talk about the guys that are in Vegas. Let's talk about the guys that are spread out throughout the AFC west. Blake last year, if they make it to the playoffs, good for them, man, but come on, the AFC west. I am just bullish on the AFC west. I hear you. Have you seen the Raiders schedule? I mean, it's a beast. That's a big Jaguars logo and a Cardinals logo. I'm like, oh. They play football teams. The second down is yesterday. We talked with former Seahawks linebacker, KJ Wright. He came on the show, and he told us to not be really snuck this in here at the end of one of his answers. Did not be surprised if Seattle makes a serious push and sneaks into the playoffs. We all kind of looked at each other when we said it before we went to the next question. So now we have to ask, do we agree with KJ Wright? And can the Seahawks be playing postseason football this season? Kyle challenge us yesterday. You can't be all in on every topic that comes up. So I am absolutely all out. Getting to the playoffs. Kyle has just no way. Gino Smith drew lock. The quarterbacks that are going to lead Seattle to the promised land. It's second and extremely long right now and there's not a good chance of picking up the first down. I'm not all Seattle going to the playoffs, not at all. It would have to take an amazing performance from the running game, which is something they've really built with Rashad penny having a great end of the season. They draft Kenneth walker and sadly. Chris Carson's no longer there, but it's going to take a lot. I just don't look at that. I love Jordan Brooks. I love DK Metcalf, but to Jason's point, I just, the quarterback play, I think it might be 32nd in the league. And you can clip that off and put that everywhere. I stand behind it. That quarterback room where there was opportunities to go and maybe get baker or draft a guy. They stood pat with drew lock and Gino Smith and I just, in a quarterback driven league, I'm just not sure the Seahawks are going to be talking playoffs this year. It was possible we were talking to the commercial break that I'm kind of circling around a take where I think there's going to be a Bengals in the NFC this year. Meaning a shocking team that no one predicted that makes a run at it, just because the frontrunners, I don't know if that big of juggernauts, you know, obviously the Ryan Jensen injury for the Buccaneers and Rogers is dealing with his difficulties with the pieces and the elbow thing with staffers a little concerning. Is there not a team that could rise up? And could it not be the Seahawks? The only way to answer that question and the smartest way and certainly the most entertaining way. Guys, we bring up the schedule for the Seahawks. Yes. We got here we go. And now look, I mean, Denver, San Francisco, Atlanta, Detroit. I'm just gonna name all the teams. New Orleans, Arizona, Los Angeles, New York, Arizona, Tampa bay. In Munich. In Munich. Yeah. I mean, they got to finish with the jets and they're trying to get at the tough, it's a tough schedule and they have a week 11 by. That's the schedule. So yeah, maybe the Seahawks if they can navigate that. Check the schedule guys. One of our favorites. Check the schedule guys. You got to check the schedule. Zero out of ten. It's a bunch of logo. Write that down. Don't put the schedule on. No, I'm not going to come in a couple of games. So that was out on the table. All right, third down. We showed you this video yesterday, devonta Adams, Derek Carr, and Matt Collins. Jammed into the back seat of a ride share because hunter Renfro. Chose to sit shotgun and he's not allowed to call a ride share anymore. This is considered to be a faux pas and Derek Carr can not handle it. Are they taking the ride started canton? That was very uncomfortable. So what is the stranger travel preference? Because on

"Where Devers and bogarts and JD and all these guys should be hitting a lot better than they are story, but they're not because they're pressing because they know that they have to score 5 runs a game in order to be a playoff team this year. It's a psyche thing, especially in that sport and when you're in the course of a 162 games a long, long haul, it's definitely something that I think is standing out with this team right now. Let me add one more thing because we've had a raiders fan in the chat kind of bugging people all day. I told them to go away a couple minutes. It was a fumble. And you talk about your franchise like it's some, you know, blue blood NFL chip. How does it feel that the city of Oakland didn't think you guys were worth investing in to keep around? So there you go. Just came for the jugular there, my goodness. You lock the team. I kind of like the Raiders. I like their roster this year. I like that team. I'm the only one who doesn't have them finishing in last in the AFC west. I am in third. Chargers still have math coach, but I actually like the Raiders too, and I actually like Josh McDaniels. I switched the background back to patriots, 'cause now we're talking football again. I actually like Josh McDaniels the second time around to. Like I actually think that he might have it figured out and he's got Dave ziegler upstairs with him to kind of help him out with the roster. So I think that the Raiders are in a really good spot and I agree. I think they're going to be competitive in that division too. But we can talk about that on another show. Maybe we'll do around the AFC around the NFL show at some point here before the start of training camp and talk about some of these other opponents. As I mentioned on Thursday, schedule release for the entire NFL, I urge all of you to not look too much into any leaks between now and Thursday. If you see what's already won out there. Yeah, if you see leaks on Thursday, then those I think are legitimate, but well, it's just who they're from. NFL schedule leaks on Twitter where the schedules are three. I don't know if they're from Jeff Howe if they're from Mike Reese and they're from Doug Hyde, if they're from us. Those make a little more sense. Fair enough. So I would hold off on any scheduling things till Thursday, but hopefully by four or 5 o'clock on Thursday. What do we got? You put the other banner back up real quick. Okay, one second, one second. Emily Kaplan, who's ESPN's oh, do we have good news?.

"You know, the final thing here, I think, is just, you know, I still think the contract is a good thing because if I were Derek Carr, I would be nervous, right? I think that any patriots regime coming in, although it's weird, right? Josh McDaniels and Dave ziegler have been a little bit different than, say, Matt Patricia or Bill O'Brien or any of these guys where they just come in and clean house. They came in and they extended max Crosby right away. The extended Derek Carr and at least I think they're trying to, they're trying to create at least the illusion right that we're not in here just to replace all of you guys with Rex burkhead. And hopefully that's how it goes, you know? And so I don't know, I think if I'm Derek Carr, at least the offer feels good the years freak me out. Maybe a little bit, but I don't know. I think he sneaks two years out of this. I think he sneaks this year next year, 'cause I don't think next year's class is very good either. At least not right now. I think so too. Honestly, I think he makes it through all three. And we'll see where these quarterback contracts go, but the door that has been cracked open by the Sean Watson deal. I mean, I don't know. I don't think any of those guys are coming loose. I think if you're the Raiders, you're going to realize you don't really have an opportunity to upgrade here unless you really bottom out and end up at the top of the draft and the CJ Stroud or a Bryce younger whoever might be takes off as sort of a generational or close to generational prospect. So that's where we're all just waiting for arch Manning. God. Oh man, I hope he has a different approach to comedy than his family members. American corn farmers, a proud and chosen profession inspired through generations. Tested, resilient, and committed to giving back as much as they're growing, pushing the boundaries of what's possible with every bushel. While replenishing every increasingly precious resource, like the reduction of soil loss by 40% with every acre grown in a world where sustainability matters more than ever, we need all the help we can get, and there's no greater resource than the capable hands of American corn farmers. I've been a metro station manager for 20 years. People need to know we are ready for them. That means keeping everyone safe. Right now, the focus is on trains and COVID precautions. Rioters and employees wear masks. All buses and trains have improved air filtration. And we're working hard to get all our trains back on the track. My name is Jeff doubt. I'm doing my part to keep the D.C. area moving. All right, Connor, suffer our next draft breakdown here. And we're going to talk about the defensive lineman. We're just going to kind of lump in the edge guys and also some of the interior guys here and go through the top prospects in this class. And I feel like I have a real lack of scorching hot slash absolutely absurd takes on this position group. And I apologize in advance. Well, you have the best take, which is the one that you fed to me so that I could write a magazine story on it, which is that I do think that they're exceptionally valuable. This year, right? I mean, there is a dearth of pass rushing talent at the NFL level. Randy Gregory got a $70 million deal. So this class is being examined probably unlike any other. And you and I have a story coming out about it. So that should be it. Should be fun for people to read. Yep, it's that. And it's the fact that nobody's gonna blitz anymore. Ever again. No one will ever blitz Patrick Mahomes ever again in this league. And if you're not gonna blitz, you need guys who can get home in the past rush here. And again, we're gonna say this a lot over the next couple of weeks as we approach draft day, but there are no miles Garrett's or anyone like that in this draft that is just sort of sure fire like, oh yeah, this is the number one overall pick, but there is good depth at this position. There are guys you will find in today two who can immediately step in and help theoretically. It varies from player, but I'll just throw out once again because I think this is the most optimistic thing you can say about this draft class. There we go. I mean, look, Aaron Donald was considered a flawed prospect. He goes outside the top ten TJ watt goes late in the first round, JJ watt goes outside the top ten. I'm not saying that there is a Hall of Fame generational talent here, but we do kind of tend to write guys off before the draft before they play in a game. And, you know, maybe someone maybe somebody emerges here in this class, but let's start things off with at least at this moment the presumptive favorite for the number one overall pick. That is even Hutchinson out of Michigan. It gets a lot of TJ watt comparisons. I think partially because of skin color, but also because of effort. And he is a high motor guy, but I think that does overlook the fact that he's also, I mean, he's a freak athlete. I mean, he's incredibly athletic. And he was incredibly productive last year after losing 2020 to an injury, so something of a small sample size, I'm always a little bit worried about guys coming out of the Big Ten because there's only one program who really regularly draws elite talent to their program. That's Ohio State and you only play them once a year. But I'm fine with Hutchinson going on. He's top half of the first round in any draft and if you like him, go ahead, go for it. Yeah, just for fun, I like to watch, I like to watch him play against Rutgers just to, you know, 'cause it's just like, it's like watching a gigantic teenager play like youth football and just like, you look like Tarzan in that game. He was just like leaping off of trees to tackle quarterbacks from areas of the field that you didn't even think defensive player had access to the quarterback. It was phenomenal. He's wildly athletic. You know, I think you can move him around. You can play him in a lot of different places. Boy, I don't know if that's if I'm Jacksonville. Let's frame it this way, right? We can talk all day about his athleticism, but if you're Jacksonville, is that what you want at number one? Do you view that as the right thing to do at the number one overall pick? You take a pass rusher. I mean, I'm sure they want to get out of that spot. I just don't think they can. Can anyone watch the number one pick? Yeah, but do you want do you want a pass rusher in that? Or would you take like Evan Neal? Would you take would you take an offensive lineman? You know what I mean? I would take the offensive lineman just because first and foremost, I want to build that offense. And there's no other option. And obviously, it depends on how they grade these guys. Do they like Evan Neal? Do they like icky? I don't know, do they like hutchison? Did they like Tremont walker who are going to get to in a moment? But I would build that offense to do something elite around the elite quarterback that you have there. And then just sort of figure out how to patch together a defense that can basically hold on. Kind of the chiefs formula at that point. Yeah..

"It makes sense to you. Yeah, it does. I mean, there's a line of thinking that Belichick promoted grow instead of Eliot wolf because Wolfe had two more GM, you know, interviews this pass off these and I think it was Minnesota and Chicago and was a finalist for both and Belichick is sick of hemorrhaging. People on, you know, just sick of hemorrhaging people. And they're like, you know, if I do LA wolf, then he's going to be gone in a year and that sort of thing. I will say this. You know, when I asked a lot of questions about grow and along with Patricia and judge and things like that. And I got to say, and this is, you know, yes, Belichick was very, he praised Matt grow a lot on the record from talking to people off the record at the league meetings. There's a there's a tremendous belief in macro and what he can do, his smart, his ability, and also I was surprised to learn. People think that he will be sort of will speak up to Belichick when it comes to what they're doing. I also think you talked about the pro side, you know, not only Belichick, grow, map Patricia does a lot of stuff on there and also Joe judges head coach has a lot of pro background, you know, just like Belichick is good at identifying people in the NFL. I think those guys feel more comfortable there. Steve cargill, let's not forget him. He runs the pro personnel side. I think he's very good. I think that Cameron Williams, the young kid that they promoted to director of college scouting. I think is a star in the making on that side of the ball. I will say, you know, back to my point. People think macro is the cat's meow. I mean, they really do. I mean, I'm not, I'm not going to, I have no idea. So I'm going with what's a lot of smart people think. I will tell you, now in the distance, people are not exactly favorable and the job that he did and how he did not have the voice to counter Bill Belichick, Dave ziegler, did a much better job at that. There's more confidence in Matt gro and also just as overall talent in scouting the college and I think that there's a lot of people in that building who believe in macro and think he's going to do a really good job. Well, that's good to hear. Before we move on with some thoughts on other things happening, let's talk about our Friends. "The cap. Or they could trade him or release him outright. So if Brady wants to say, end his career, where it started if he wants to go back to San Francisco, play for the forty-niners who probably only have Trey Lance and what have you, whatever else next year, maybe they think Trey Lance needs another year and Brady sees that team as a Super Bowl contender just a quarterback away, which he probably did a couple years ago and wanting to go there. Then that's sort of the move that you make. Could that happen? Yes. Do I think it's probable? No. But you never know. Yeah, I think he's done. Jump to somebody who is done in New England. At least for now. You never know what the future holds. But Josh McDaniels, Dave ziegler, both going to the Raiders, Greg, just kind of your thoughts on the impact this could have on Mac Jones first. Yeah, Nick, I think a lot depends on what they do to who they bring in to replace Joshua. Is it Bill O'Brien, Greg? I think he's the leader in the House, the overwhelming favorite. And I think that's the best scenario for everybody. You know, you get Bill O'Brien and they already have a quarterback coach there Beau hargey. I don't know how they feel about him. There are a bunch of patriots, former patriots assistants sort of in the ether like Jerry siblings, was the former quarterbacks coach was on Joe judge's staff. There's George godsey who was on Brian Flores as Miami staff, chatto is still, I think he's a passing game coordinator for the browns. There's a bunch of guys still around. But to me, in my mind, Bill O'Brien is clearly the top choice to replace Josh McDaniels. It makes things a lot easier. He has a relationship with Mac Jones, Mac helped teach him the Alabama offense before Mac went to the Patriots. Last off season. So I think that's great. I think bill's great with young quarterbacks, you know, look at his work with deshaun Watson. It was not exactly a patriots type quarterback. He certainly made that work in Houston. He won a lot of games with a lot of mediocre quarterbacks in Houston, made the playoffs four times with guys like Brian Hoyer and case Keenum and other guys like that. So I think the world of Bill O'Brien if he comes on, that's a Grand Slam for the Patriots. I think it's the best case scenario for them. And then, you know, also, we just got a bulletin. Yeah, Joe Brady's going to be the new quarterback coach for the Panthers. So he takes the place of Ken Dorsey. So yeah, so you know the other thing is, you know, Dave ziegler. To me, that's the bigger piece of the puzzle right there, because Dave ziegler was a guy who had been in the system, stepped up, they retained him when he was interviewing with the Broncos a year ago, stepped up to retain him. And, you know, we saw the impact that he had on the first draft, you know, and also free agency..

"They take him as a package deal, right? Dave ziegler and Josh McDaniels, that one was obviously about connections in relationships and things like that. And I look at some of these other minority candidates, I hope Byron leftwich gets the Jacksonville job, but because he is not wanting to work with trend bulky, which can you blame them? Don't blame them at all, but because of that, he might not get it, right? They might have to go in a different direction because they don't want to fire Trump bulky. So, man, it is a this is this is what happens. You and I have dealt with politics like this in our daily lives too and I'm sure everybody has that that's over the age of working age that's living in the real world. You deal with these politics all the time in the workplace. With interviews and who gets a job and who doesn't get a job, I feel for Brian Flores. I don't know where this goes for him. I don't know what more we can really say about it at this point. It's just an unfortunate situation. And one last thing I want to spin it a little bit. I would just say one other thing on this is the league might have to have Steven Ross sell the team. Yeah. I think that needs to be continued. If he was truly paying Brian for his under the table to lose football games and absolutely. Well, so there's that, which is a massive massive, massive problem. I would say equally as big of a problem. And I don't know if you didn't get to the 7. After the 2019 season immediately, or I think it was during the 2019 season, I have to go back and find the exact quote. Basically, before Brady was officially a free agent, apparently Stephen Ross leaned hard on Flores to recruit Brady, which would have been tampering. Right. To the point where he set up he basically pulled a parent trap. He set up a lunch for Flores at a, I think it was like on a boat or at a restaurant near a boat, some of the boat. He set up a lunch for Flores at an establishment where he knew Brady would be without telling Flores, Brady would be there and when Flores found out he left. In florez alleges after that point, it all went downhill and Ross got very cold towards him. So basically, if he fired Flores because and this is and isn't including the racial component of it, if he fired Flores because one he refused to lose games on purpose too because he wouldn't tamper in illegally recruit Tom Brady, then he needs to go, then he can't run that team..

I think we got to start with the goat, but we're going to talk about Tom Brady. We're going to talk about the retirement snub that it has everybody all hot and bothered. We're also going to discuss this lawsuit that just came out with Brian Flores in the New York Giants that includes a text message from Bill Belichick on the hiring process there for the Giants that Flores is calling a racist hiring process, which is fascinating. We're going to hit on Josh McDaniels officially and Dave ziegler being named as the Raiders head coach and GM pairing, which we talked about last time Alex on Sunday when we did the breaking news show on Josh McDaniels and I said that I wasn't going to believe it until McDaniels was sitting there at the podium in black and silver while we got that image yesterday and that's a done deal now and we will also discuss the ongoing senior bowl that we are seeing right now currently some clips going up on Twitter NFL network, of course, pulled their coverage of a senior bowl today for Brady news and notes I'm assuming and talk, but let's start with Brady. I've already blown my gasket earlier on the channel, Alex about how ridiculous I think this entire snub or disrespect in the retirement post is. But I think the bigger thing I want to hit on I do want to talk about some great Brady games and some moments 'cause I'm disappointed and bummed out that that's not what the story and that's not what we get to do today. I wish that we could sit here post Brady retirement announcement and just reminisce about all the good times, right? And unfortunately, we're talking about this kind of stuff. You can give your take if you want on the snub, but most importantly, I also wanted to ask you about why are you think that things with this Brady retirement goes from here, right in terms of do we get the ceremony in Gillette stadium anytime soon? Do we get the Jersey retirement? Do we get the Patriots Hall of Fame? Do you feel like this is still going to go the way that patriots fans want it to go post playing career? I would hope so. Yeah, I'm annoyed. He could have mentioned the Patriots. I think, actually, I think this is a page how to build Belichick's playbook. I think he's essentially using one of Bill Belichick's favorite lines here, right? Would Bill Belichick doesn't want to talk about something they release a statement..

"Remember Matt Patricia came back and it was kind of like, you know, a little bit quiet. Maybe that situation was quieter just because of how Matt Patricia came back after getting canned by the Lions and kind of walked back with his tail between his legs. So maybe that was why they didn't want to publicize that one as big as a new OC hire, but I think that they're going to take their time with this. I'm sure they already have a short list drafted up knowing that McDaniels was interviewing in the first place and was interested in the first place. So I don't think this took them by surprise. But maybe by I don't know, maybe by the combine, we know who they're OC is. I don't think it's going to happen super quick. Do you think it's going to be like instant or I think so I think the longer it takes the higher chance it is as O'Brien. Because I don't think anybody else is calling Bill O'Brien, you know, if it's a guy like shadow shae, if they're gonna go, you know, like a Joe Brady rat, right? I think there's maybe a rush to get that guy because there might be other calls for his services. I think with Bill O'Brien, he's either coming to the Patriots or he's staying in Alabama. "And you have to respect the guy and what he did here for the Patriots. And now we can look forward and start to move on here. And look for maybe some new flavor and some new spice. But I think we're both in unison that Bill O'Brien just makes all the sense in the world and it's kind of that doesn't need to be overly complicated with where they go at this higher. Yeah. Yeah, I would agree with that. It's like the Mac Jones draft pick. Is it the most mind-blowing thing? No, it's called occam's razor. Sometimes the most obvious answer is the correct most of the time. The most obvious answers to correct answer. Yeah, the last thing I'll say about this, what I think is interesting is not that no Belichick is not slowing down anytime soon. And I think a big part of the reason why Josh McDaniels is leaving is because it doesn't sound like Belichick's retirement is any sort of intermittent. All right, so this could be 5 years. It could be ten years. I don't think that anybody truly knows when Belichick is going to hang it up. But now that Belichick is alone, essentially, without McDaniels, without Brian Flores, mat Patricia is back in the building, but I don't think anybody actually wants Matt Patricia to be the next head coach of the Patriots. I guess you could have a conversation about jarad Mayo. But that is an interesting angle that the presumptive head coach and waiting if Bill Belichick decided woke up this time next year on a Sunday morning and said, you know what? I'm done. I don't want to do this anymore. Josh McDaniels was more than likely the guy that was going to get that nod. Now he is going to the Raiders. So there is a little bit uncertainty there of a succession plan if Bill Belichick ends up having a shorter lease than we all expect in terms of his life expectancy as the head coach. Yeah. Yeah, sorry, yeah. I don't know if we're trying to get off before the game starts. Oh no, no, no. You can give it to me. Go ahead. Yeah, no, I think it is like you said I think it is an indication that Bill is going to stick around and I think you look at Mayo. You look at all these guys on the staff and who is the next, you know, they're for the first time in a while who is the next guy we don't know. We don't know. And you know maybe that's a draw for somebody like Flores to come back. We've talked about when he come back if he's not officially the D.C..

"Anybody that's coached the wide receiver factory that is Alabama and produce that many first round picks of that position is good in my book, right? I mean, really he's as talented as all those guys are. Clearly he's doing something right with those receivers that all of them have not only been first round draft picks, but all of them have produced in the NFL as well. And we'll continue to produce besides that I guess maybe some of the guys that had some off field troubles talking about Henry ruggs and stuff like that. Okay, Dave ziegler. I think that some of the praise for Dave Ziggler has gotten just a tiny little bit out of hand. I think he's a really smart guy. I think that he can in the draft process last year. Certainly somebody that had a voice at the table when they made these personnel decisions, but ultimately, like I said earlier, I think that they have some guys in the pipeline that would be able to step in for Dave ziegler and replace a lot of the things that he did. They didn't miss Nick casario at all. Nicos leaves ziegler moves out the food chain as do a couple of other people and they didn't skip a beat. Same thing happened. Ten years ago or whatever that was when Scott pioli first left, right? I think the Patriots have a really good feel for the pipeline in the front office. The other thing that I would say is when they went on that free agent spending spree and maybe the draft is a little bit different, but when they went on that free agent spending spree, every single free agent that we talked to Alex after they signed with the Patriots said what? They signed here to play with Bill Belichick. They didn't sign here to play with Dave ziegler, right? So that's why that's why they chose the Patriots. Why did the Patriots choose them? I guess that's fair. I guess that's fair. But I think the praise is more just a talent recognition thing. Okay, I just look at it in the draft and I say, not the takeaway what ziegler has done, but I'm saying this to quell fans concerns about losing the sky..

"I would say more so than anything. They love to run pre snap motion. The one thing that I love about what Alabama does and this does help when you have jaylen waddle and Jameson Williams and John matthey and you have these fast receivers. But what I like about Alabama does is they throw the ball to guys in motion that are already moving. So you can hit you can get the ball into these players hands when they're already going nearly at full speed. And that is, I think, a really nice wrinkle at the Patriots haven't done a ton of where you get a guy already rolling and then you toss the ball out to him and the flat, you give him some lead blockers and watch him go with it. There's some RPO concepts that obviously I hope that he would bring that Mac Jones farewell and then there was also some things with bunch formation stack alignments that I really like. They gave Georgia in particular, especially in the SEC title game. All sorts of fits with bunch three receiver bunch formations and attacking rules add a bunch sets. I think those are things that the Patriots would like to do as well, moving forward, and we've seen Josh McDaniels in the Patriots do at times here. So I think there are elements of Bill O'Brien's scheme, which really is a hybrid of the Patriots offense and is spread offense, right? And he's combined both of those concepts into one. And I think that was a big reason why he was successful in the beginning with deshaun Watson and why he was able to coordinate last year pretty well at Alabama almost to a national championship. So I like a lot of those things. I do think that O'Brien element of it though that you do have to consider is a little bit what we talked about with Mac last year is it's pretty easy to coordinate an offense with Jameson Williams and Bryce young and John mechie and the stable of just incredible talent that Alabama has, right? I mean, it's pretty hard to mess that up. So when you come to the league, things are a little bit more equal. I don't know how much that is going to be a factor. I like O'Brien. Well, here's the thing. If you want a guy, if you want them to draft, John met you, Jameson Williams. Right. I mean, O'Brien's probably gonna push for that, right? And then you probably have, at least with match, you probably have Mac pushing for it. So if you really want them to go the all out Alabama route and take John mechan in the second round, take Brian Robinson in the fourth round. Then you want O'Brien here then you're kind of stuck on that one. Yeah, I like O'Brien a lot. I think that it makes so much sense because he has adapted the patriot scheme. Now, a lot of the reason why he adapted this scheme because he started adapting it here in New England and from 20 2009 to 2012 before he went to Penn State..

"Everybody happy Sunday championship Sunday, but the Patriots once again breaking news, a breaking news podcast number two of the weekend what off season so much for spending the weekend watching other teams play football, the pads, making headlines, maybe not for a reason that we wanted to see, but yesterday we have Tom Brady's retirement and then retirement. The heck knows. Let's go. I've been calling it. Are you familiar with the concept of Schrodinger's cat? No, but anybody who's familiar with it. It's basically Schrodinger's retirement. I'll explain Schrodinger's cat to you off the air. Okay, got it. All right, so Josh McDaniels, you see it right there at the bottom of the screen. Josh McDaniels and Dave ziegler the Patriots de facto general manager heading to the Las Vegas Raiders forming patriots west out there in Vegas in sin city. Now Josh McDaniels gets his second chance, Alex at being a head coach. Ziegler goes up and up and up the ranks here with the Patriots and initially really put it in the work and was somebody that grinded themselves through this and got to this spot. So we have a lot of different ways that we could go with this. I would also mention as much as I trust Adam Schefter, maybe not after yesterday, and Ian rappaport in their reporting. It ain't over until it's over with Josh McDaniels, right? I mean, there is still some work to be done here and still some eyes to dot and tease to cross. And I will believe that Josh McDaniels is officially leaving to join the Raiders Alex when he's standing there or sitting there at the podium being announced as the head coach. Do you think that that is fair? Yeah, I mean, I thought I made the joke to you. I made it to somebody like, who do we trust less here, right? Or McDaniels, given what's happened with chef during the last 24 hours and a rough look for him and obviously McDaniels, we know what happened with Indianapolis, but remember how I don't want to say this week started because it was Thursday, but the mcdaniel stuff was just kind of simmering below the surface and you know, hey, he might be interested, but there's nothing official. And then Thursday before I don't think anybody was even calling him the favorite and then Thursday or sorry, Wednesday there's a report that he's not the favorite. So nobody's saying anything. Thursday, he's no longer the favorite, which apparently he wasn't one point. Or Wednesday he's no longer a favorite. Thursday, he becomes the favorite again, goes out interviews with them this weekend, and here we are. So roller coaster couple days love the coaching carousel fun time of year and yeah, now the Patriots are in it and these might not be the only departures this off season. We got to see what happens with rod Mayo. Mike Reese reporting, Ivan fears might retire..

"Gary Kubiak recommends Jordan made, um So you know, there's there's I think it's honestly I think it's those two names with Terry found on third. That's what that's the way I feel and the other names are not real contenders. Dave Ziegler's not gonna get this job. Um and and so, you know, I think that if you're looking at this, and um askew go into this. There's a scenario where if you like them both. There's a scenario where you could come away with potentially both of them. Oh, I'd love that love that. Just a thought. Just something to mull around hasn't been brought up yet. I'll be gone Most. Everybody to this point is either said that they wish there were other names. Some of the bigger names that John Dorsey's of the world out there They mean, it didn't seem like that. That's really direction that they wanted to go. They didn't want to go with the Over established former GM of a team They wanted to go with one of the more the young up in coverage. And I guess that begs the question then Ben is that is that likely the best. Decision for the Broncos. They the wide net, the critical white net or a lot of guys that that haven't been G M's but have been right there and they've taken interviews, and some of them had experience with this organization. Some have not. What do you think about the neck that they ultimately decided to cast makes a good net. I think they have good candidates and there. I would not have interviewed Ziegler with the rest of them. Um, I understand what they're doing. You know you and getting a different perspective from a different organization. I think that if it's me, um You know, it's interesting to me how in this particular search people like, Well, they didn't your view people with previous GM experience. But when you get to a head coaching search, it's the opposite. They're all like We don't want to reach red. And so I find that amusing. The disparity between the two I think that all these guys have plenty of experience. They've all been around and in front office experience for a decade, plus, most of about 15 years. So you know if there's a scenario, which you could get two of these guys, you feel both of my qualified enough to have general manager If you get two of these guys in your front office to me, that's that's a no brainer. And for that, to happen would be paid. This gentle manager and champion is pro papers Now where you move up from assistant. Yeah, promotion for both right. And then that would be opportunity. And you be basically looking at the future of what would be your front office right there. George Payton has a connection to Had Sherman Yes. Uh, Champ Kelly has connections to Nick Foles and Vic Fangio and John Elway. Um, you know, And so I think that either one of those guys in the scenario where you could get both, I think are ideal. Okay, So let me ask you about Brian Stark. Who's in the in House candidate and and the right now kind of slated the interview last, which is sort of funny. The only reason I bring up is because the last two coaching hires a John Elway made corsets. Coincidently, the last people he interviewed Beings. Joseph and Vic Fangio ended up being last on that group. So I'm not saying that it's good news for Bryant Stark. But I guess if you want to make a last impression, that is where you get a chance to do that, But Let's just take this on its face here if they decide to go with Brian Stark. What does that say? Says they weren't impressed with the other candidates. Okay? Says they weren't on the same page with those guys and the in house guy was on the same page with where they wanted to go. Is that because there I think a lot of Broncos fans will be a bit underwhelmed. That's not just taking with a way for Brian Start because I think Brian start deserves opportunities as well. I mean, he's done a good job scouting for this team. He's their director of scouting, but The fact is, people will say it's gonna be more of the same in that respect in this team has been losing so people will find ways to complain about anything. Well, they've already started to complain about this group. They're under out there. Let's just say there are they even named a general manager. Yet they haven't even interviewed. All these guys had their already complaining. That's that's what that's what hater, you know, Hater. Ade gets You hate a radio. All those guys, you know? It's just rip rip everything find a way to complain about it. We're not gonna do that here. Um, the it says that they weren't on the same page. I don't think that's gonna happen. And I think that the reason you're interviewing him last because you're giving everybody a chance to, you know, to convince you otherwise and then go to the gatehouse guy. The the reason that they interviewed the head coaches last Was because they did like them. They were the prohibitive favorite little bit differently. The gentleman's situation. You look for something to replace you not submit a report to you in that regard, you know, um, a decision maker. And so John Elway had some favorites. And he decided to let the other guys interview first to convince him and move him off. That favorite not have did With this particular situation, I would suggest that it's not the same thing. Having someone go last is not the same as it was during the head coach stuff. In fact, it's coincidental. I know I'm just I'm just having a little bit of fun. This particular situation I would almost say would go the other direction. Could be favorites would've interviewed first and then well, it's certainly based on your reporting. I would say that's I would say that in the favorites interviewed first in this scenario, Okay, So you know you're the first person that's brought up the idea of of multiple guys here because you're right. It would be a promotion for both put and I, You know, I think that that is invaluable. I think that getting Smart guys like surrounding yourself with smart people is a way to be successful. You know, Find yourself smart people that are capable of disagreeing with you Surround yourself with those kind of people and you'll always be. You always do well. I don't have any year contracts. Are you looking for these guys like for whatever the GM because I mean, certainly there's a lot going on with his organization from the ownership side of things. Obviously, you're talking about eventually John Elway stepping out altogether the organization if not next year than around that time. Certain..
