Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney
"dave today" Discussed on Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney
"Baseball for ESPN and I feel like a grumpy old man tonight. Dave, today Dave, because we talked about Aaron judge being named captain. And I just find that whole discussion to be sort of absurd. And he was asked about it yesterday and I'm like, please, can the media stop talking about the captain see? Because it really doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you put something on a Jersey. Come on, buster. It's all part of this great Yankee mythology. We need a captain for the Yankees. And I, you know, tell the story. Like when Derek Jeter was a young player, he was definitely a leader on that team, right? He was great, you know, the way he played hard. I think he helped set a tone on that team and there are other stuff that I saw that happen that way and then toward the end is he was more of a more of a public figure than he was necessarily a great player. He became less of a leader on that team and younger players, gravitated toward Alex Frederick. It's about the connection between the players and Aaron judge has that now. No one needs to put a C on his Jersey. Yeah, and look, we all know leadership, it's not pep talks in the Clubhouse. That rarely happens in baseball. It's just going out out there, joint showing up every day, working hard and leading by example. And we all know Aaron judge does that, you know, great work ethic. So he's already a leader. He doesn't need to see. It's a little silly, but it's the Yankee. So whatever. Yeah, I'm going up to cardinals camp after I get done with you today and Paul Goldschmidt, it's kind of the same way, right? The guy who brings along young players encourages them and they watch him and they see how he does goes about his base running is his approach every day and they match that. And that's kind of a judge does. You know, with the Yankees, I was much more interested as I told Sarah and Taylor about judge being asked the question about replicating what he did last year, which theoretically could carry its own set of pressure, but I think that he'll handle that easily. Yeah, I think so, you know, look, he's had two years in a row now where he's been pretty healthy. Clearly that's the number one key. Just stay out there because you look at his entire career since 2017, when he's on the field, he's been one of the very best players in baseball. His war for one 62 is like 7 and a half or something. So yeah, that's not the 10.6. He had last year, but he's played at an MVP level every year, basically when he's on the field. So all I want from him is a 150 games, is he going to hit 62, probably not, but if he hits 50, that would not shock me in the least. No, not at all. And I think he's well equipped. It does feel like that he's got the mental side of the game. Absolutely locked down. Aaron Boone told me then the last season he really thinks the judge has figured out how to manage himself physically through the year to do more with less and so I think he'll be okay. One guy I'm really curious about this year to watch on a daily basis for the Yankees, someone who wasn't available to them after they traded for him last year as Harrison Bader. Who I think when we assess the 23 Yankees, he can be underrated. I don't think people understand how good he's going to help that defense. What do you think about Harrison Bader? Yeah, no doubt. One of the faster runners in the league, he's a premium center Fielder. So you throw him in center and judge and write and you have two gold glove caliber outfielders and yeah, left field, they're going to have to figure out, but I love what that's going to do for the defense. And the Yankees buying the defensive metrics last year were already one of the best defensive team number one by some. I'm not sure if I necessarily agree that there are the best defensive team, but they're pretty, pretty good, especially Jose trevino, a gold Glover at catcher, Anthony Rizzo is great. I know Yankee fans are down on Josh Donaldson as a hitter, but he's still a good defender. DJ le mayhew, whoever he ends up playing, he's a good defender. So their defense is very underrated. Yeah, it's a good sign from DJ le mayhew the other day when he spoke with reporters that he feels like he's going to be 100% to go. And I'll just say this. Other players will say that and they'll not go DJ le mayhew is so earnest when he talks about how he's feeling and where he's at physically. I take that more at face value than I would with other players. And I know the Yankees were concerned at the NLS season, whether or not he'd be able to bounce back and so it's a good sign that he's able to do that. I sent you an email early this morning because I was going to throw this question at you kind of a fun question. About find a team or identify a team that you're intrigued by for its potential improvement, but not necessarily the team that's going to make the playoffs. I mean, maybe you do pick them to make the playoffs, but a team that you feel like is on the rise under the radar. I've gone with the Diamondbacks buster and look, it's tough because I knew you were going there. I mean, it's hard because the top of the NL is so loaded, but I love their direction. Corbin Carroll, he's the favorite for NL rookie of the year. He had the fastest grid speed in the majors last year. He can hit and he made it to the majors buster with like a 140 career minor league games because he missed 2020 with COVID. He had a shoulder injury in 2021. And he made it last year from double-A to triple-A all the way to Arizona where he had a really good September cameo. Jake McCarthy had a really good second half rookie season last year. He's one of the fastest guys in the majors. Alec Thomas was another rookie outfielder last year. I like him. They also have this group of young starters who are all major league ready where I Nelson, Dre jamison, Brandon fat. I think is how you pronounce his last name. All three of those guys are going to compete for the rotation. They signed Evan Longoria who can, you know, still play a little bit. I wish they would have added a little more to the bullpen and maybe a veteran starter, but a lot of good young talent there. Yeah, I look at them as being clearly clearly the third best team in the nationally west. The Padres, Dodgers, and I ain't Diamondbacks are clear third with the Giants being fourth. You buying that? Yeah, I'm buying it. Arizona's gonna be my sleeper team and every article I write this spring. Yeah, you know, like the Giants have a way of maybe surprising again, but I'm with you. I don't see it. I just love the direction. And maybe sometimes with young players, we jump on them here too early, you know, maybe Colby and Carol has to adjust a little bit and so on. But, you know, and I didn't mention Zach gallon. You know, this guy was a number one caliber starter last year. He had that streak of what, 40 scoreless innings in August and September. Meryl Kelly, very underrated. So I'm with you. Arizona, third and the last for sure. Yeah, well actually the cubs are my team because I think they're going to improve greatly through the defense. And let's face it, you're a little biased with Corbin Carroll because he's a Seattle guy. He is a Seattle guy, lakeside high school.

"And welcome to another episode in our podcast TMX presents. My name is Cory garriott. I run the research team at the exchange and as a research guy, I think of myself as a market structure nerd. So I'm pretty pleased to have landed this gig to be the host in a conversation about the future of interest rates here in Canada. Today I've invited two veterans of fixed income to help us learn. And you may know them already, but if not, let me do the obligatory. On one side of the ring, we have the irrepressible Dave duggan, managing director of rates at national, a practitioner of fixed income for 30 years, and one who is now increasingly involved in industry policy. He chairs the Cora interest rate advisory group or kag, which is part of the bank of Canada's C 5th, and he's sitting on other industry groups such as I rock's fayek. Glad to be here, Corey. Always happy to get involved with my friends at the TMX. One thing I do have to say at the very beginning here is that the opinions and views that I express here are solely mine. They're my views and opinions, and they do not represent those of national bank of Canada, or any industry committee that I take part in or chair. And joining Dave today is a long time associated on the national trading floor, our own Robert kotani, alias one R one R, which is his brand name, I think he's got a trademark somewhere. He's a fixture on the cash and derivatives markets, 30 years at TD and national, where he was managing director fixed income. 5 years ago though, one hour crossed over to the exchange business where he's launched now three futures products, including his old albatross, the 5 year future. Now the two year and now the core of futures. One R is also TMX is representative on the car subcommittee at the bank of Canada C 5th. Thank you, Cory. I'm pleased to be here with both of you today and look forward to reacquainting myself and engaging in a lively debate with my ex colleague, mister duggan. Always a pleasure, Dave. For sure. Yeah. Before we dive in, it sounds like YouTube have a little bit of history together. Is that right one R? Oh, we sure do. I think we work together for 20 plus years. And whether he came down to running over to the trading desk to grab the Monday morning pork bellies as someone brought in or playing hockey together, Dave and I have skied together. We've been fast Friends for a couple of decades. So this is going to be a really easy and enlightening conversation. All right, let's get it started. Now, as a market structure guy, if there's one thing I think about when I think about rates, it's the transition toward risk free rates and not only in Canada but globally.

Oh i got step over the competition. And i think that can definitely wear where people down Which is all more reason why. It's important to find the tribe find find those people who are encouraging in collaborators which i talk a lot about on the podcast pretty much almost every single episode of bringing it up because it's so very important anyway i just got back to the dugout to the store To get the coffee. That i meant to get yesterday so we'll talk more later. Thanks for listening. Brought up project though k. So just picked up my coffee So earlier today Earlier today i had zoom meeting with. David chan ski and ryan mechanical. These are the guys who are cofounders along with me My fellow co founders of the ka pow intergalactic film festival which you have heard me talk about a lot and this podcast interviews with various people from capitol during the qna's another. I think about it. I think i'll start uploading the audio. Wow i realized. I've got all of these pieces of audio from pow twenty twenty one because we had to do that that was in february. Wow seems so much longer than that which we did on film accuracy this website so it was our first time doing caputo virtual so we basically we renamed it ca- pow intergalactic virtual film festival and We had a lot of return champions from the past years. we just have such wonderful Such a wonderful community that has been built up through the years with caputo and the spirits are just positive. Great unique unique perspectives. And what. I like about what i like about the festival is that yes yes. There are awards for best. This best that But in a sense it is a competition sort of in that sense but really it's more of a collaborative environment than anything else because the people who show up for it are just as excited for everyone else winning awards they are for themselves winning words and we give away well for capo. We've been known to give away lots of awards So i had a talk with ryan. Dave today about This new festival at ryan wants to open back at the original place that we first started ka pow in two thousand sixteen back at the dose lago theater and he wants to call this one. The dose lagos film festival now when we first did it there. We didn't get much help from the community Our idea was to make it a community vibe. And since then i think some of the people there have seen what we've done with pal and now they want to be a part of it. That said that kind of thing you'll notice will happen a lot you you might find your artistic journey responsive to what you're doing but it's not the people who aren't responsive that you have to be concerned about in fact i wouldn't even call it concern. It's it's the people who do like that. You ought to be appreciative of. And just it's like a snowball. Snowflake snowflake snowflake noble so it just keeps going and going in that way so the idea is to not beg and plead to try to get people who are you know way over there. The idea is not the screaming and shock. Oh please please look at my value. The idea is to create what you're creating appreciate what you're creating and simply find gratitude and and welcome in those who are magnetized to it. That's all that's it and just just do you find yourself doing it that way. And you you just keep moving along like that. And this way there's no feeling of hustling putting it near quotes or or you know marching up the hill your your Climbing through obstacles. You're simply working with those who. Oh yeah there's a little knob there to twist just twisting that little knob there. Oh dude thank you so much. Holy cow thank you see. I'm talking about cooperation in the universe. Grants me this awesome. Synchronicity of someone. Who's who just let me in the door. They saw i grocery bags in my hands fumbling with the key the key wasn't opening the door and they were there on inside the appeared on nowhere at personal is not standing there. When i first walked up to the door. I tell you that it was interesting. The appeared out of nowhere. So you'll find as you continue to view that as a sign of course as an omen from the universe going up. You're on the right track buddy so you find yourself to simply going along like that in creating what you wanna create how you wanna create enjoying the process feeling gratitude in others start magnetising and it builds and builds and pretty soon you found yourself a tribe you found yourself a community of people who are now all getting to know each other. They're all.

Twelve fifteen the first good the first two numbers will be a one. In the seven is my prediction. You really now let me see stanford second pretty thin. But i don't know if you're if you're you know i'm gonna say one. Yeah i was wrong on this. I'm gonna say one sixty that's still find wait but that's a lot more than five fifteen pounds more six feet tall. I guess they just.

"Hello and welcome here. The erik erikson show. It is friday so even if the weather sucks at least you got the weekend. Hopefully wherever you are the phone number. If you'd like to be a part of this year program. Eight seven seven nine seven eric. Eight seven seven nine seven three seven four to five. We've got to begin with. Well what do you want to call it. I'm calling struggled age. You have no idea what i'm talking about. I am about to educate you in ways. You have not been educated before in talk radio. No we're not. We're not talking power issues. And you know i gotta give credit where credit is due Friend of mine is megan kelly producer. He worked at cnn. When i was at seeing any work with piers morgan for awhile. Actually at c. n. steve crack our great guy. Generally good guy has worked on the blaze. Good guy knows the media inside and out and he reminded me he's got an email and he reminded me in his email of david puffs idea of stray voltage. Stray voltage is a political idea. Of you know something bad is coming. You need to distract everybody so nobody pays attention to it. They pay attention to the voltage. 'cause you know stray voltage fire. Things up stirs things up can cause short circuits can can cannot be good and you gotta you gotta pay attention to it. So during the obama years david plus was a strategist for barack obama. He's now on the outside whispering. Joe biden's ear and the years of the administration. He's also a lobbyist but david bluff. Obama would come out and do things that distract people from unfavorable news towards the obama administration. So is the vaccine mandate stray voltage. Steve krakauer wants to know and and it really makes it. S- when you think about the news no one really talked about except for me. I spent some time on fox. News did Lot of media outlets buried it or didn't cover it at all but the the stroll tages the biden administration comes out says we're gonna mandate vaccines for employers one hundred employees or more if you don't wanna take it. You gotta do a nasal swab multiple times a week. Now pay no attention to the fact that osha. The occupational safety health administration or whatever. It is a hazard whatever it is. They don't have the manpower to enforce this. They don't have the manpower for compliance. Don't have the manpower for inspection. They don't have the manpower fort. And there aren't enough supplies out there for unvaccinated people to get tested and it takes a while for the test unless you do the rapid test and then it's still could take up fifteen minutes or longer. It is very very difficult to administer this to implement this. There's no i it's an open question as to whether or not it's constitutional an odd arguably is really not constitutional. But everybody's focused on it everybody's at each other's throat everybody's complaining about everybody's arguing about it you you've got left out there. Bullying people on the right demand. You better take this vaccine or else you've got people in the media Out there really out to shame those who do not do it. I did not play the audio. Here is don lemon yesterday. On cnn editor dave today on cnn. And so i think we have to stop coddling people when it comes to this and the vaccine. Oh you can't shame them. You can't call them stupid. You can't call them. Yes they are the people who ate it in a better trump are stupid because they believed his big lie the people who are not getting vaccines who are believing the lies on the internet instead of science it's scientists are shaming..

Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney
"dave today" Discussed on Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney
"That long ago maybe even just two weeks maybe three weeks ago and the hosts there were just lamenting miserable. Awful season boring season. This has been for the cardinals of course always have high expectations. And i've been telling my editors and i said this on the radio show watch out for the cardinals because this is just going to be. Maybe a typical saint louis season where they muddle through. Then they come together right at the end and this is what happened. Buster in remember this two thousand eleven any ochre all year. They put it together in september. They make the playoffs on the final day of the season. And they go on to win the world series now. I don't think this corneau's team has the ability to win the world series. But i think they're going to win out. Second wildcard and i was thinking as you started that i thought you were going. Also mentioned two thousand five because i remember that year or no two thousand six that year the end of the regular season. They were terrible and they crawled into the post season and i was at baggage claim and i bumped into scouting and said hey you know. What have you been doing who you've been covering his. I had the cardinals. They won't win a game in the postseason. They're terrible well. They won the world series so striving we should all change our world series picks to the cardinals right exactly But i still think in the end that the week's schedule is going to manifest for the cincinnati reds two more series against pittsburgh. I know they got a series against the dodgers but they also have four games against washington. I think they find their way into that. Second spot. who would you pick. Yeah i think. I picked the cardinals. It sounds like we can agree on one thing. Which is the padres are dead. You know suggest the kitchen injuries. Darby's can't get anybody out. The office isn't score enough runs in the end. It looks like it's going to be very very disappointing. Season for san diego write. An article was supposed any. Espn dot com this morning I haven't read it yet. You are one of the authors eh co-authors of you and bradford in one of the headline was could otani lose the american league. Mvp and i did a double take. Because i've been saying on the podcasts. Nope done-deal otani's values to high vladimir guerrero. Juniors razi is the best thing in baseball right now arguably here wants soto. He can't win. But then i saw that. I was like man dave today. Find something so they might be referring something i wrote. I would like to tell all our viewers. I did not write the headline. All i wrote was your tani freight train has slowed down a little last thirty days but i think he still going to be the landslide winner. Now maybe guerrero now gets a couple first place votes especially with the surge of the blue jays looking like a playoff team. Now you know he has a chance of the triple crown. I still think that total package for otani makes him the clear leader the race and i think he's still get class guerrero and marcus semi may end up splitting boats. Probably two three the mvp race in their teammates. You know so that could work against if they had a realistic chance. Which i don't think they do but yes. Oh everyone i still think tiny's the mvp. Yeah i do. I i think what joe madden said early. This year's right that it's not close. In terms of overall production. I think the unprecedented nature of the year is mad and said we might not see a year like this from any player for another hundred years. Given al mazing is all right. Elizabeth hart tweeted at us and she has lots of talk about cy young candidates but not so much lately. Rookie of the years does alec minoa haven't nailed down for the american league. Gimme read on the rookie. The erases kneel down. I don't know about that. I mean he certainly has been a huge lift from that rotation. But i know historically pitchers rookie pitchers who kind of have a partial season. Even if they're really really good do not farewell in the mvp lauding. So i don't think he has any chance. I think the guy with a partial season. That'll be interesting is wonder franco. Who has only sixty two games as that thirty nine game on bay street you know he might not play again until the play-offs though i wonder if he has a chance to win even despite plan so few games the only guy in history who kind of beer that is willie mccovey who on way back in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine and only fifty nine games so minoa no chance bronco. Maybe what about the national league. Yeah national league. It looks like with. Trevor rogers who is the favourite most of the season but they really shut him down with his innings in miami. So i think jonathan india three eighty odd base. You know some hope. Twenty home runs doubles. I think he's the clear leader now. Yup i agree with you on that. And i want to ask you about ryan braun The the brewers formally announced his retirement. Yesterday he announced. Its milwaukee brewers. And i gotta say this. Because i i think of ryan braun is being Like lance armstrong of of baseball Not only did he use pd's but he also attacked people leading up to that most notably the sample collector specifically went after him Publicly accused him of being anti semitic He called other players when he was a i. You know. I had the first positive drug tests. He told them look this. This collector was coming after me. he's an anti semite. And i thought it was just despicable. And so i give mark at nausea. The brewers credit for his loyalty that braun. I'd say this. He's a better person than i am. A given that. If i were mark grad nausea after bron lied about you being a pd user and then accepted a sixty game suspension. What was it a half year suspension. I would have never forgiven him after giving him that. Huge contract mark attanasio did no in from afar. That's my viewpoint to. I can't get passed it. He tried to destroy. Somebody's life yup and he lied. You know that was. He gave that speech in february of two thousand twelve. It wasn't until two thousand thirteen that he finally got caught up in the biogenesis investigation and got his suspension. I get it in milwaukee they the fans there for gave them gave them standing ovations. You know on the field is the third greatest brewer of all time. You know buying rodney out in honor for me. I just can't get past. His initial reaction is. Denial is lies. And you know great player. No doubt thirty thirty. Mvp all.

When it comes to the forestar dave he has settled a total of five thousand one hundred thirty one winners in his career. Four of those coming in the four star dave more than any trainer in history and he is with me now on a very busy morning for him so we won't keep him long bill. Good morning appreciate a few minutes. Hey thanks for having me on. Good morning he appreciate you taking time. I know how busy saratoga saturday mornings can be casa creed looks to give you win number five in the four star dave today last year. He was third in this very same race. What are you seeing from him. Coming into this year's race well he's coming off a couple of really good races You know we shortened him up. Anyone going seven eighths and then won the grade one jaipur stakes at six furlongs We had thoughts of running him five and a half furlongs up here in saratoga to see how he would handle that distance But we drew a very bad post. We'd you're the twelve colon decided to scratch and and run a week later and four star. Dave i mean he has been effective going to mile before and and You know we thought our chances. We're probably a little better in here than they were coming out of the twelve and the other race so you know. He seemed like he was ready to run. And we didn't you know we had no reason to wait any any longer than this weekend. So as a hall of famer who is settled so many big winners in your career. Bill what are some of the key things that you look for in a horse coming into a grade one race like this letting you know. He's ready to fire his best shot. Well number one. You want to be coming in off of a a a good race. Which he is. He's coming in off of off a two real good races. And and you know you want to look at the horse and make sure they're you know in good flushing and moving well and sound and you know he checks all the boxes there. I mean he's been he's been doing quite well. You know when you come into these kind of races. You don't wanna have to have any pickups coming into them. You know missing works bruce feet whatever you know what i mean you just You want everything to go smoothly and and Feel like things have gone well Leading up to the race as far as their training goes and i. I can say that things have gone nicely for him the race before the four star. Davis is sarah togas special. You'll send out number eleven high oak. A horse just getting started with his career. You know ran well in his first race got up looked like they output it in a little bit early which you know they probably will do in this race today But he seems to be determined sort of horse and and you know we're going to give in a give him the class test today and see what what happens. Obviously obviously there's gonna be a good pace in there and we'll we'll see if he if he's if he's good enough. I think you know a lot of these times when courses having run but one time it's always kind of a fact finding mission to see what you've got as far as you know Quality in class in and And of course you know ability how you match up with the other horses so We're you know we're i think we're i'm cautiously optimistic about his chances You know. I feel good about him. I feel good the way that he's trained and and You know now we just gotta get him out on the race track and and get the answer out there bill before i let you go. I'll ask you for one quick comment on paradise creek because this is potentially the final arlington million in the history of our sport and have been talking about a lot on the show this morning. What do you remember about paradise creek. And that just i remember you know paradise creek in his entire day because i had him from you know when he was a baby and the two year old and went in his first start at belmont we renting back on dirt one time and the hopeful just to give him a a try on dirt which didn't work out well and then of course she stayed on the turf the rest of his life but He ran against some of the very best during you know he he ran against learn handler. Changed places a few times on the racetrack. I think we him. You know a couple of times You know. I can't remember if it was his four year old year but You know he. He raced against high quality horses and and then in his final race just got beat a nose in japan cup which going a mile and a half so you know. He was a harsh that was effective at a mile. Second the breeders cut mile at gulfstream and won the arlington million at a mile and a quarter and then of course got touched off the nose japan cup so a really a good horse. Fun horse and same same family is theatrical was so you know. I had having had some of the family for the firestone's before he was especially harsh for me. You're always accurate. I think in in in the manhattan when he went Mile and a quarter in one fifty seven and change. That i think that was you know a record that i i don't know if it's still stands at belmont monday. I suspect maybe it does. Yeah very special horse. Very special trainer and bill maher bill. I know i'm very sorry to lose. Arlington i mean. "From the VEBA Threat. Three. A studio Hello, everyone. Welcome back to the grace. Curly show tons of news to get to you. I'm very excited about our next guest. David Marcus is the Federalist New York correspondent. He also write to the New York Post. I find myself reading all of his stories about Twitter and big tech and all that stuff and you can follow him on Twitter at Blue Box, Dave today he tweeted out that he will be wearing 14 masks because he's a good person. David, You are a good person. Thank you for being with us. Thanks for having me David. My first questions about your article. Mitch McConnell needs to go. I think a lot of people feel the same way. Do you think there's any chance that someone would challenge him for leader? The leadership position? And if so, who do you think would do it? I think it's unlikely in the short term at least over the next two years, Just because You know you'd be challenging to be minority leader, not not the majority leader. But you know, should should the Republicans have a good midterm and take back control of the Senate. I do think that it's a possibility. You know, there are clearly some people who are challenging his authority can judge Holy To some extent. Ted Cruz also seems like he would like to be involved in leadership and I think the challenge for McConnell is that she really clearly he really made it clear that she was trying to excise Trump from the Republican Party. By playing footsie with this whole impeachment stuff. He thought that there would be a title wave of defections. That hasn't happened s so it's left him in a pretty vulnerable position. And I think what your what your article does a good job of touching on which I've seen. A lot of people say is that Mitch McConnell seems to want to have The Constituency of Trump or the popularity of Trump without Trump himself, and that's not happening. You make a point of mentioning nobody's lining up tow Watch Mitch McConnell speak or No one's wearing Mitch McConnell merch. So do you think he has an inflated sense of self or do you think he just thought he could, you know, make this happen? I think you expected as many people did I happen not to. But a lot of people expected that Trump's popularity was going to take a huge hit after the events on the capital on January 6th. It turns out that it hasn't Ultimately, I believe what Mitch McConnell wants to turn back the clock to 4 4008 to look to the past 30 years before Trump when the GOP establishment Was basically able to say to its voters. You know, we don't really care about your values of believes their issues. But we're better than the Democrats that you have to go with us. And you have no choice. Trump proved that they did have a choice. And they could get action on issues like trade and immigration and stopping foreign wars and really all of Trump's policies. Side, which is the end of the day, I believe turned out to be Even Maurin important than his sort of cult of personality. Yeah, my other question for you, David Marcus. This is just something I heard today. I don't even know if it's possible. But I heard this idea being floated around that Mitch McConnell might call for a secret vote, and by doing that he would kind of Hide everyone's identity so that you know there wouldn't be such a backlash against them. And they might not get primary if they decided to vote his way. Have you heard anything about that? I haven't but everything that I've heard both from people that I know who are close to the hill. Um, and colleagues of mine is that It's extremely unlikely that the votes are there. Um To convict Trump because Everyone realizes. I mean, if it would be just absolutely set the party on fire. Yeah, I don't think that's really in anybody's interest now, David, I'm talking to David Marks from the Federalist. I want to switch gears here because I agreed with you on a story you wrote about Lauren Wolfe. So our audience knows Lauren Wolfe got in trouble. She got fired from the New York Times because, she said Joe Biden, arriving in Washington, D. C. Gave her chills. The tweet kind of went viral. They She then deleted her Twitter and then she got fired, and a lot of people said that shouldn't have happened for a multitude of reasons. You have a very different reason why you think the New York Times should have kept her on staff. Can you explain that to people? Yeah. I mean, First of all, I'm I'm against this sort of counterculture stuff. Right? So I don't think that you know, a dumb tweet or a tweet that shows bias or whatever should lead to people getting fired. You're more importantly, whoever is going to replace Lauren Wolfe at The New York Times, and that's a place that I've written for. It's a place that I know pretty well. Um Is gonna hold the same political bias. Just more quietly. So the problem ultimately that the New York Times has Is not that this person showed their bias. It's that that entire building is nothing but progressive bias. You know, we saw that with the Tom cotton bed calling for for the National Guard to come in this summer, where you had a complete revolt in the newsroom. James Bennett, who was the op ed page editor was basically ousted because of it. That's forward a few months and there's 25,000 National Guard. In Washington, D C and The New York Times thinks this is perfectly fine. So the bias there is so overwhelming, but that's the problem that they need to address, not the fact that one of their editors accidentally let that cat out of the bag It reminds me of when Obama was talking about that defined the police movement, and he was basically saying, Listen, they have to be more subtle about it..

"To know God depicted was gonna hit it a little of that sentence, But I was gonna say, Hey, man, I think today is actually a day where I appreciate you, Dave. Not planning in that segment, too. But on the way all the way back in here, I think totally warranted bad. I think people need to laugh a little bit. I think we need to make not light of anything That happened yesterday. But I think I think laugh. Thing is therapeutic. Dude, I think it's it's important to do it. Dave David, I got both of us have a dark sense of humor, and we've had many a morning here where we've We've cracked some jokes behind the scenes. We both said to each other. Hey, man, you just gotta laugh. Did you just gotta laugh a little bit? How else do we move on? If we can't laugh a little bit Sometimes I think that's where you gotta get to with people that you don't always agree with. So that was that was pretty good there. David Appreciate you firing that off. So that's actually yesterday. A lot of people and sashes said this to me last night. We're putting it out about 34 o'clock yesterday. The great Ray Woodson. Of course he's to be here on campus, Or would he put a tweet out that said you haven't observed Mike my sober January My no drinking in January. I'm gonna observe that in in February and somebody else to shut out. All the people who were were putting their new year's resolution and not drinking this week or this month on hold. I think a lot of people yesterday we're dealing with it. So, Dave today Thursday past noon, maybe we start drinking at noon today lot of Thursday. All right, All right. All right. Thank you. Push it to Dave. Lots of people are checking in on the Cache Creek, Texas 14156 yet hopes we needed that. It's just that, uh, that was good. I needed that day. If I needed that two men, I mean, people. Other people are checking in on this topic from yesterday, and we will get to it. I appreciate everybody's hit the text line this morning 19 sixties copes and product can be are handled the events yesterday I was listening to London when he suggested going to kgo to hear about the riot that was going on the white Right, And he's calling it here. The 916. I wasn't aware of it until then. Thank you so much too came here. That's our sister station. I caught a little bit of that yesterday, too. I was listening to Breitbart guard down there when that happened when they breached the doors of the capital, so the photos that are coming out the juxtaposition between how A protest of a black lives matter of will counter protest. How the jet solution about police handle the black lives matter. Protests just months ago relative to have an early yesterday was was much different, and we're going to get into all that. Steve Kerr and Draymond had some big comments on this after the game, but I think we'd be doing a disservice if we did not hit on the game itself, at least just for a couple of comments here because Steve Kerr, he did his job, but I think it's important to know Draymond said this after the game to that, Marcus Morris Respected guy I think in the MBA on the Clippers yesterday after the game said, because there were several demonstrations around the league yesterday, Mike Budenholzer as I mentioned, the head coach of the Bucks had his team well as a team. They decided with the Pistons that they were going to take a knee for the first two possessions of the game. We had teams taking any during the anthem yesterday in protest, and a lot of this has to do with exactly what happened with the lack of prosecution of police officers. After the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Tuesday and then less than 24 hours later, we have what happened yesterday with really no pushback with really no no sort of anything, And there were people that were comparing the two. The difference in the two is that with the black lives matter, protests We marched because we wanted to stop being killed in the streets. Yesterday, people attacked the Capitol building because they didn't get what they wanted. Right like that Z pretty cut and dry that Z basically the two sides of this thing. So let's start with the game, though. Yesterday on it actually started pre game and Steve Kerr the count Man. This guy's just the best. Did we talk about the great voices we get in the Bay Area I mentioned yesterday that dream on might be the best as far as getting answers out of a guy or I said before the couch Shanahan one of the best in the NFL, because He doesn't necessarily beat around the bush. But Hillary is necessarily always shoot you straight, But I'll give you an answer. It's not always just giving you coach speak. Steve Kerr is the best at not giving coach speaks So it opened up yesterday pregame session in with the media. He gives a statement about how it was really tough. Tonto come into the building yesterday. And think about how to stop Lou Williams. How do we contain Lou Williams? You said. Just sort of seems like small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. And so you know, we talked about that for better than than the great money pool of NBC sports. Various is okay with Steve. How do you plan to stop? What Williams in this game? To really two big questions today in this country, you know, what are we gonna do about the protesters and excuse me? Not protesters. The terrorists who stormed the capital. And how we're gonna guard Lou Williams and avoid fouling. So those two questions they're gonna go a long way to determining the fate of this country. I thought that was it was pretty funny. And anyway, she didn't get into it. And the Warriors did lose one away one of one yesterday. I should mention that on Do they kind of did stop Lou Williams, The Waves didn't get a ton of shots after 20 minutes off the bench only took four shots in the game. Three points for Lou Williams. Even 13 pointer three assist so they didn't contain and they played pretty well and again. They came out they were. They didn't score a bunch only 15 points in the first quarter for the Warriors are trailing. 21 15 after the first and we should know, By the way, Steph did tweak and ankle in this game near the end, and Steve Kerr hit on that pretty much first thing Is that like, Yo, Yo, yo, ho! You guys were playing better basketball..
