"All right that's it here. We go five eleven. we're starting then isn't that is not. You're calling alex. I've just gone too long about any number of things. Sorry so we're going to be quick here. richard. Skinner is gonna join us in just about ten minutes. We've got a national league wild card race. I have a hot take on the national league wild card race. I hope you're ready you're strapped in for it. It's coming up at five thirty five. Plus you'll hear david bell's pre-game comments and a little bit more on uc to the big twelve. Which if you haven't heard we had jason williams of the inquire on he reports. That uc is officially submitted. Its big twelve conference application. According to university sources and the school is expected to officially announce that you see ucf houston and byu will be joining the conference. We have to poll questions today. Let's address both one. I sent out before the show by the way. The poll question and mo- anger fifteen thirty. No no no and mo- egger. I forgot my own twitter. Handle at moega. Are you ready. I poll question is this should pro and college. Sports teams print paper and card stock tickets for their customers and get rid of electric ticketing permanently. Yes yes yes or yes. Those are the four choices. Sixty seven percent say yes seven percent say yes. Sixteen percent say yes. Ten percent say yes. Yes get rid of electronic ticketing permanently so as up to one hundred percent. I was not a math major. Alex but i think so also. We asked this. If back in early february i would have told you that the bengals starting guards for next week would be quinton. Spain and xavier. So othello your reaction would have been oh goody okay yikes or you gotta be bleeping kidding me. Forty five percent say okay. By the way. I think forty five percent of your line. Elijah thirty percent say yikes twenty one percent. Say gotta be bleeping kidding. Four percent say oh goody and i talked about this at length during this segment yesterday i i believe the bengals offensive line is going to be better but if i were to set you back in february the starting guards week one are going to be quinton. Spain xavier so othello. Nobody would have accepted. That doesn't mean it's not gonna work. We had zack. Taylor before this season is quite simply a referendum on zach taylor and duke. Tobin you to me. At least you can't talk about one without the other. I i know there is this sort of longstanding belief that well the bengals. They're just so damn patient. They don't make coaching changes. Marvin lewis was here for sixteen years. Understand what marvin lewis did. He had an immediate impact on the teams win loss. Total and a positive one. You cannot compare act taylor year three to marvin lewis year three right now. You can't compare any part of zach taylor's tenure to marvin lewis this idea that other just zack's not on the hot seat because the bengals they have such patients. Marvin lewis spent many years. And you might say too many years cashing in equity from early during his time in cincinnati but that equity was substantial. They went from two wins. Two eight wins then. Held steady at eight wins then won eleven games that bought years of patients. Then there was the o. Nine season marvel was the coach of the year. The reboot two thousand eleven season very good two thousand twelve season very good two thousand thirteen regular-season great two thousand fourteen season. I thought marvin should have been the coach of the year. That your two thousand fifteen season. They were great until all hell broke. Loose against pittsburgh. Zack taylor has not built up. Any win-loss equity look. Mike held on dave shula for four and a half seasons. That's more than twenty five years ago. Dick lebeau didn't get three years. Bruce coslet got a slice more than three full seasons. Yeah there's been some patients there's been some patients with the front office. But there's by the way i'm looking at. Nfl power rankings. Week one on the nfl network. Cincinnati bengals thirtieth for this team to stop the conversation about duke and zach. It's going to have to defy. What a lot of people think including to a.

"They are underdogs on sunday if they win this game on sunday. According to vegas they'll be upsetting the minnesota vikings probably gonna be underdogs against chicago. I'm guessing very slight favorites. Perhaps against jacksonville dogs the week before against pittsburgh so we always sort of compartmentalized and it's a little less easy to do. I guess because they're seventeen games but within those first four anything shy of two and two and then you're going to have a hard time really convincing me that the scenario that you at least outlined is plausible worth fifteen games are eight and seven because of how how difficult things get late so i guess the part of that based on what you just talked about that i would want to know is in the absence of that. If let's say it's off to a disastrous start are there scenarios under which zach does even make it through seventeen games. Yeah i mean sure. Nobody wants to explore them. You'll have to you have to talk about what that i mean. Look there many by after jacksonville. They're sitting there own force. He coaching the the packers game. They're certainly. They're certainly uproar against it here. The one thing that we when we seen changes happen. "Time Billy coming in the Great American I wanna acknowledge. First of all, the 2020 was one hell of a year. 2020 one's got to be a little bit better. We have scheduled to Governor Mike DeWine a 12 05 today because of a conflict mainland are and he's going to join us to 12 35 about 25 30 minutes from now. I don't wanna miss it because all of us want to know including Mohagher. What's the Rollout of the vaccination schedule. How coming hasn't happened more quickly. What's coming up next? There were reporting that those over the age of 65 could start lining up for shots Next week, however, it appears those in nursing homes and convalescent center dark haired right now with the vaccination. So what's gonna happen next week is anyone's guess. So. Stay tuned for the governor about 25 minutes. Also later on is a congressman. Bread wind strip. Also later on is the great number 85 Tim McGee, But until then, Mo Eggar as the first captain 21, Welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show in Mo. How are you? I'm great, Willie. Happy New Year I'm honored. Honored and I'll tell you what Well this morning. A big announcement was made by the Bangles that Zach Taylor is coming back and the 32 games He's coached the Bangles have one. I think a total of six out of 32 games. Watching the game yesterday it appeared the Bangles were completely overmatched, completely overmatched. Going forward. You have to get into the head of Mike Brown and Katie Brown. What do you think was the reason that the general manager and the ownership of the Bangles decided to keep a coach who had won six of 32 games? What is the reason kind of you have to funnel and you have to tunnel through the minds of Mike and Katie Brown? And they're good people. Let's face the good people. I'm not sure about football wise, but they're good people. Why do you think the Bangles manage? Management decided to keep sack Taylor know, based on everything I've come to understand about Mike Brown and the way he operates in the way the family operates loyalty to drives a lot of decisions, whether they should or not, And in many respects that's really, really good. In this respect, I don't know. In the past, it hasn't worked out. They were exceedingly loyal to Dave Shula. They were exceedingly loyal to Marvin Lewis, Um, being exceedingly well to Marvin Lewis in 2010 paid off five consecutive playoff appearances. They've been exceedingly loyal to their own players. You know, you look at this year's team they brought back a J. Green probably shouldn't have brought back Gino Atkins on a contract A couple of years ago. A lot of people questions Brought back Carlos Dunlap on the contract. A couple of years ago. There's been a lot of people questioned. It blew up in their face, but like it or not fair or not, you and I both know, um, loyalty is a very admirable trait, but it guide's decisions for this franchise. And often times it should not. And then the other thing is, if there were any doubts going into that Pittsburgh game As to whether or not Jack Taylor was going to come back as cathartic as it was for Bangles Sands to experience that win as much as that night at Paul Brown Stadium felt like an exorcist, Um, because the Bangles bullied the Steelers, which never happened if there were any doubts about Zac Taylor's future in 2021, But I think that victory threw cold water all over all those doubts and all but confirmed the news that was That we found out today. But Look at the statement of Mike Brown quote. We remain bullish on the foundation. Zach is building I look forward to next year, giving our fans that want results Real one, Mike Brown said. Also, many clubs had all kinds of injury problems, and the Bangles certainly were not exempt from that. They lost their best running back. Maybe their best offensive lineman. Their best defensive linemen were traded hand or did not play up to expectations. Their best wide receiver didn't catch a ball yesterday. And so the foundation is being built. And I'd like to know what is the foundation? What is the plan going forward? And the answers were hell, no. And I want this team to be successful. You want them to be successful? You want your daughter grew up in a city in which the Bangles are acting like is the 19 seventies and eighties again, it was there always winning Division championships going to the Super Bowl a couple time not quite getting there, but the excitement was palpable. And so what do you tell your young daughter? She sits on your lap watching a Bangles game. She's what 45 years old. What will her future look like? Is a bangle stand throughout the 21st century 3.5. She's not quite there. Um, she had no interest in watching the game with me yesterday, which, frankly, I can't blame her because it was awful. So so there's a lot there. The foundation is Joe Borough, you know that. I know that. I think that if there's any reason for optimism with this franchise, it's it's number nine. It's Jo Bro, but you talked about the statement that like Brown released today. My problem with the statement is the first sentence in which he says two years ago, our fans wanted Blank, blank blank right. He points the finger at fans. Don't think fans wanted Jack Taylor. I think what fans wanted was a thorough process in which they turned over every stone in which they had no preconceived notions in mind as to what the prototype for a head coach should be. Didn't care if it was an offensive guy. Defensive guy. Special teams guy old Young experienced from college from the pros. Been a head coach before been a play caller before instead what it felt like is that whoever the next head coach of the Bangles was going to be. You had to check some boxes, right? OK, we want an offensive guy who's young and somebody who's had lunch with Sean McVeigh before. And that letter. Zach Taylor. Zach may be a very good NFL head coaches. Winning percentage right now is worse than Daschle is in huge actions and human Oh, in 16 and one season, but The problem for me, is it him or necessarily even retaining him? It's pointing the finger at the public that did one changed two years ago. We did. The whole operation had been stale under Marvin Lewis, but I didn't want a shortsighted. Frankly lazy process and the way itself Woz. Okay. Aw, offensive guy. Marvin's a defensive guy. We're going to go younger. Marvin's older Everybody wants the next vomit bag. Well, that Taylor works for some Nick. They were all I hear is that Taylor did it feel to you like it was a process to go and get the best in the world at what they do. No, it felt like they were checking boxes. And once all the boxes were checked, it felt like we got Zac Taylor. Mike Brown statement today basically pointed the finger advance. It's essentially more eloquent way of saying, Hey, look, people, this is what you wanted. So what you wanted? This is what you got to shut up and deal with it. We got to fax to stand out to me. The Bangles finished one in five in the F C North. They're outscored by almost 100 points. 1 73 to 80. And with Joe Burrow at the helm, they were a 25 and one What Joe? Borrow, not at the helm. There were two and five So basically the quarterback is important. But maybe not That important. A complete Reed. You must occur. Wide receiver, defensive line linebackers Joe Mixon. God knows. He's hey, had a fabulous last year signed that big deal didn't play the last half of the season. So going forward what excitement is available to us in August and September? Assuming the Bangles can have fans? We're gonna talk to Mike DeWine on that in about 15 minutes in the stands, assuming that's going to occur, What is the excitement looking forward to 2021? You and I both know how this is gonna work, Willie. Hello. Hello, Working. We're gonna load up on this. Go ahead. You and I both know how this is gonna work. Willie. This team is going to be crushed for the for the next couple of weeks locally. The off season..

"My name's my leg. Er, I work at ESPN 15 30 weekday afternoons from a 3 to 6 filling in for Lance McAllister. Tonight. We certainly are sending our best to a lance and his family and looking forward to having him back at work. He is currently scheduled to join us back in his normal spot right here before the UC basketball game. On Thursday evening. You and I have a lot to discuss, and we're going to get to a lot of Bengal stuff. I got some reds in the seven o'clock hour. The next step for you see football, and we're going to talk about something that now everybody seems to be against that before Sunday, everybody was four. We'll do that coming up in the eight o'clock hour, But first yesterday we found out that Zach Taylor is coming back to coach the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021. Mike Brown says that the team next year is going to, um Earn its stripes that that's that's what the Bangles are going to do next year, and maybe they will. But this to me this to me is the problem with yesterday's news. Largely unmoved by it. That's kind of a problem, right? Like if the Bangles decided we're getting rid of Zach Taylor if they bloom out, whacked him after two years. Fine. You really can't object right? He's 6 25 and one. His two season winning percentage is worse than the career winning percentages of Dave Shula and huge action. The team has run in place, and that's being generous. If they moved on from that, coach, I don't think anybody would have a problem with it. I don't think anybody around the league would be like, man. They just let a great football mind get away in Zach Taylor. If they blew him out. Fine, but at the same time you would instantly instantly as this question. Are we sure they're going to get it right next time. Because let's be honest that the search is probably going to be limited right. The Bangles cross off candidates before they ever become candidates that the search for a head coach two years ago felt limited felt like they were operating with the filter. They wanted somebody young and offensive minded and somebody who was going to ask too much control and somebody they probably working up to pay all that much too, And so They settled on Zach Taylor, and it didn't hurt that he had worked with Sean McVeigh because everybody one of the next Sean McVeigh, so if they moved on from Zach Taylor at face value, fine. But wouldn't you and I then be wondering who you're going to get, that's any better. Fair or not, That would be the question. They didn't move on from Zach Taylor. They've decided to keep him. You know what my reaction is, okay? I'm unmoved by it. I should feel something right. Shouldn't you is a fan feels something. An NFL team in NFL franchise one of 32 that rarely blows out its head coach that has a head coach has gone 6 25, and one decided to bring that guy back for better for worse. Ordinarily that moves the meter Detect for most Bangles fans. This doesn't That's not good. That is a statement about Zach Taylor. You can't exactly do cart wheels when a guy who's 6 25 and one retains his job at the same time. I think most of us are beyond thinking that this team is simply a head coach away from Winning. I think most of us are smart enough to understand that the issues with the Bengals over the last couple of years sort of superseded go above and beyond. Who the head coaches and the work two head coaches doing here's the bigger deal for me. The roster stinks to watch that game on Sunday. Just that Baltimore team ran roughshod over a Bangles team that frankly laid down. Did you watch that team? Did you watch the Bangles play the Ravens twice this season? Did you watch the Bangles Go one in five against the teams in the A F. C North, each of whom are going to the postseason? Did you see a Cincinnati team that from a personnel standpoint, stacks up to what TheStreet Alors. Browns or Ravens have? You don't watch the playoffs this weekend, you know, watch a buffalo bills and watch the Indianapolis Colts. You gonna watch the Kansas City Chiefs next weekend? They have abide this weekend. Gonna watch those teams. You go See rosters that look anything at all. Like the one the Bangles have I know Joe Burrow is hopefully going to come back for week one. Hopefully he's going to be healthy, and hopefully he's going to be as good as we all think. By the way, the Houston Texans played the Bangles in week, 16 you saw how good to Shawn Watson is. The Houston Texans were dreadful this season. In fact, there's a clip. Of J. J. Watt and Shawn Watson walking off the field together after the season ending loss on to the Titans on Sunday, and JJ Watt says the dish on Watson I'm sorry we wasted one of your years. Because you do need more than a quarterback. The quarterback is a great start. The Texans have a great start with Sean watching the Bangles, I think have a great start with Joe Burrow. Even with Joe Burrow healthy this season. His team was going nowhere in 2020. They probably would have been better than 4 11 and one day we're not going to be playing this weekend in the wild card round. The issue for me is the roster. And that's the big problem with that is that's that's not a one year thing. My usual with the roster is an exclusive the 2020 the issue with the roster goes back toe Bell 2016. This is the thing for me that matters more than who. The head coaches and this is why the head coaching decision. Leaves me unmoved. The roster has stunk for five years, fifth consecutive season. They've had a losing record. Now you might go well, look in 2016. They had just had a 12 and four year five straight playoff appearances. It's really hard to go back to the postseason again and again and again and again and again and again, and I'll give you that. You can't go five consecutive years and pro sports in this day and age without a winning record..

"Stays by edict by the pen. Of Mike Brown. I picture that pen to be more of a quill. He's got the ink and the giant feather that he's rightness of acetic with offensive line coach Jim Turner Receivers coach D Line coach. Another assistant on the defense won't be back as well as the running back running back Coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. Mo Eggers here or he owes 3 to 6 Week days on ESPN. 15 30 pretty much does everything else around here, Mo. What's going on? Funny how you doing? I'm doing. I'm doing fine. I'm glad I'm out of the Bengals coaching staff. But somebody saying probably more qualified the law. These didn't Zack tattoo when he came in two years ago. These areas, guys Specifically Jim Turner. Jim Turner is a guy that he had had Ah, private working relationship with and he's kind of the coach that he insisted he had to have the offensive line coach. And it simply didn't work out didn't work out for a slew of reasons. This always felt like the most likely outcome right like they weren't going to move on from Zach Taylor, but they were probably going to move on from coaches and the guy that we were pointing the finger at was going to be his offensive line coach. And so it's gonna be interesting to see what they do with that position specifically, but I think the bottom line is they've got to get better players and you know as much as we talked to yesterday, all day long about the decision to bring Zach Taylor back, which sort of obscured the game on Sunday. It was actually some significant news that went down on Sunday because the starting center Trey Hopkins, so I think you might be able to consider their team's best offensive lineman introduce a CL, which just compound The problems on that offensive line and adds to the lengthy list of things that seem has to address this also, yeah, with that beating in the end of the season, you kind of forgot that that happened when he went down like the least, is the last game of the season. No more misery there for whoever the quarterback of the day maybe, but you start looking at the lineman and a C. L's and now you're pushing it back in the next season. And what do you do now? So the the inequities upfront. Are magnified by the fact you've lost your main guy who sent her there for the foreseeable future. Yeah, and it's you know, to a large degree. This is why the Zach Taylor news that the moves that he's coming back for 2021 sort of leaves me unmoved. Um, if they announced that they're moving on from Zach Taylor, you could certainly understand why, right. He's got a worse winning percentage. A huge accident. Dave Shula. He's won six games in two years. Um, he simply hasn't won enough, right. You could understand at face value why any team would move on from a guy who's won six times over two seasons at the same time for May. Many of these roster issues that we continue to talk about predate Zach Taylor. We're going to spend the offseason wondering, how are the Bengals gonna fix the offensive line? Well, this will be the fifth consecutive offseason. We've done that The old line has been a problem. Going back to 2016. It hasn't mattered. Who the head coaches. It hasn't mattered. Who the offensive line coach is. It hasn't mattered to the offensive coordinator is they haven't been able to fix the offensive line. And so if you go down the list of things that this franchise has to get fixed this offseason, but no higher new head coach or new assistant coaches and I guess Lou and a rumor is going to come back as the team's defensive coordinator, according to what I heard, Dan Hort say on Bangles line last night. I think the thing that leaves me unmoved about the coaching decisions is the fact that the roster has remained largely stagnant. Yes, they got Joe Borough, which is fantastic. They've got their quarterback. But if you look at the list of issues that this roster has they predate Zach Taylor, which tells me that no matter who the head coaches next year, those roster issues are gonna linger until it changes made in the front. So I believe what you're saying is, and it makes sense. Okay, We keep Zach Taylor around for another season. What happened in the first year related man? Because see with the other trying to figure it out. But the pieces together you get Joe Borough. You only get him for 10 games of the last two seasons. So is that a fair shake for Zach Tanner? However Mo, I'll ask you the first question. I asked now a second time. Did he pick these guys? When I ask you that the first time was about his assistant coaches are again fired. Now masking the assistant coaches have any say in the guys that are drafted? Who was that on? They have a say, You know, everybody that works in the football department has say, but when the Bangles air good and we're getting further and further removed from when they were good Duke Tobin gets a ton of credit right here about how greater job Duke Tobin has done. Duke Tobin a great job assembling all those teams they had from 11 34,015 when they're bad. We just want to point the finger at Mike Brown. And look, there's a long list of issues that Bengals fans should have with Mike Brown. But to me, that's where I start. I start with the person in charge of putting together the lobster. He's not the general manager, but he is the team's director of player personnel. He is the fact that the general manager whenever anybody wants to assert Hey, look, the Bangles are cheap because they don't have a GM. People with knowledge of this franchise chime in, clap back and say Not what they do. They just don't call him the general manager. That person is Duke Tobin that the person putting together the roster. That's the person making player personnel decisions, and some of them have worked out. They draft the tea Higgins last year. There were a lot of people who said Don't T. Hagen Teddy marvelous rookie season. They did make a big splash and free agency last year, and I don't think it's anybody's fault that it didn't work out. They were on lucky. Trae Waynes got hurt. TJ reader got hurt. It didn't work out, but at least they tried. But again, this is five consecutive losing seasons. That is any turn it e in the NFL five straight losing seasons with roster issues that again predate Zach Taylor. Does Zach ever say and its composition of the roster? Of course he does. Does he have a say in how the personnel on the roster is gonna be used? Absolutely. That's the job of a head coach. But again when some of the issues that plague this year's team go back to 2016, I think to a degree. It's really unfair to hold the head coach primarily responsible again if they would've moved on from Zach Taylor. Fine. He has no track record to speak of. They lost 25 games over the last two seasons. Um, there was a lack of innovation on offense. The whole team felt clunky this season, especially once job. Earl got hurt. If they would have moved on from him. No problem there. But as soon as we would have danced on the grave of Zach Taylor, we would be left looking at a team that isn't very good. There's a talent gap between the Bangles and the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. And now the Cleveland Browns, and I think a lot of that is largely independent of the head coach..
