"Ain't gonna like the candle. Thanks for clarifying Rick. If you're a good driver, there's no other way to say you deserve discounts with snapshot, progressive casualty insurance company and affiliates. Snapshot not available in California, North Carolina or from all, agent Yes, it is, And I did that a couple of times. When my mother was still around. Come on Thanksgiving. I was in charge of ice cream, So I got graters and I shipped it. And I told her it was coming. And she left it on the front porch for two days. Was melted graters, which still takes pretty good, but not exactly the same. Think of Dan hard. We'll talk to him in just a few minutes here on all things, Bengal related course. We missed the game on Sunday. Something, I guess me. He was exposed to somebody who tested positive for Coke. But I guess contact trace a contact racer and talk to Dan. See how he's feeling. Is he feeling like a million bucks? We'll find out I got this email just minutes ago. Regarding the current coaches, Taylor Has made the 19 and 52 record of Dave Shula look all inspiring. And that may have a lock on equaling. Back to back first overall picks of 94 95. Hope he's not around long enough to get jewelers fastest to 50 losses record. We wouldn't want to see that happen either. Maybe the whole thing's going to turn around. Is no one can see how I was like, humanly possible. We don't know. All right, 7 15. We'll get to it was his Karen Travis here in a minute Got Ryan called standing by what's shaking around here. Winter weather advisory That was up for most of the tri state expired at seven. "30, I'm thought, okay, This is the becoming of the job. Burrow era is a drives the Bangles on foreign soil and has a big touchdown at the very end and the Bangles Wynn and all of his son. Zack Shula is now going to be something important in Cincinnati. And so I took time and I went back to your good friend Dave Shula, Zahra, and believe it or not. After 22 games. Who has a better record is the Bangles coach Dave Shula or Zach Taylor? Dave Shula, I believe, won his first two games of angles, head coach. Do You know what happened in danger? Jewelers last game reality struck. They led 21 Nothing on the road and lost. Well, what happened yesterday? Well, the Bangles led 21 to nothing on the road and loss easy almost exactly. 24 years ago, October 20th And Here's Here's the problem. If your Bangles fan, ifyou're a long suffering long time Bangles fan like myself. When the Bangles led 21 nothing yesterday. I didn't start thinking about how they could build on the lead. We're holding up holding out a way to stop rivers. My mind reverted to that game 24 years ago. I remember sitting there watching the Bangles on the road against the team. That was great. That San Francisco team was really good. I remember watching the Bengals lead 21. Nothing on the road thinking to myself put, they got it. They lost that game. 28 2 21. They fired Dave Shula the next day. So 24 years later as I'm watching the Bengals build a 21. Nothing lead. I'm not thinking, man. This is insurmountable. I'm thinking God, if they blow this, we're going to make more comparisons between Zach Taylor and Dave Shula. And which is what we're doing today. If I'm one of the hairiest veterans multimillionaires who played for Ellis, you and Duke and and Ohio state, USC and I, I'm going through that yesterday. I'm thinking Zack Shula has lost the team this morning. When you go in to see Okay, let's look at the tape. I can see what those guys were thinking about about Zach Taylor, which is my God. He don't know what he's doing. Where is reason or with the hat over the eyeballs? Here is here's the issue that there's lots of issues. I mean, we've already spent time this this year. Wondering is Zach Taylor a Bad communicator because Carlos Dunlap basically said he was one Why aren't they successfully integrating a J. Green to the game plan, which they did yesterday? A. J played you played well, yesterday you had players on Friday afternoon tweeting about how they're being used. That certainly doesn't reflect well on the coaching staff. I don't know what Zach Taylor does well. Like you and that that that sounds like a really harsh criticism. But I didn't know coming in, you know, Fresh faced young, unproven in experienced McVeigh has barely been a play caller in this league has obviously never been a head coach. And let's face it locally or only exposure to Zach was in 2016 when he was the offensive coordinator. You see, and that season the bear Cats went 13 consecutive quarters without scoring a touchdown. And you were there, watching. In a sense, everything will get back tail every single game. And if somebody would have told you here's the 10 coaches for the UC bear Cats four years ago picked the one is going to be an NFL coach. You wouldn't have said That guy right there. Next, not tailing out within three years. I mean that that offense in in 2016 years, he was historically inept Now not all of that was on Zack. But he certainly was complicity. So he becomes the head coach and I go. Okay. I give you some time to show me what you do. Well, I will say this last year, I thought his team played hard, which is is not something you should take lightly given How bad everything went. But within the 16 games, you had the Cordy Glenn situation. The guy who refused to play. They never really had a resolution to the A. J. Green situation. The handoff from Andy Dalton to Ryan Finley and back to Andy was sloppy. It was too. It was a redhead, too. And 11 wasn't any two and 11. When Finlay came in, it was something they were Oh, Nate at the buy, and they benched Andy Dalton right before the trade deadline instead of instead of giving Andy a chance, TTO shot himself in a trade which you wanted to do. So you talk all that up. First time head coach, First Year head coach, rookie and experience this year. Show me what you do well. Is he a great play caller? Not yet. Does he really seem to have a great command of his players know Ah. About inspiration about giving great speeches. Do you feel like you're getting a tactical advantage over the other team know because you have Zach Taylor once. When, when? When I watched the Kansas City Chiefs, I feel like it helps that they have Patrick Mahomes right now, but I feel like they have a tactical advantage. Because of Andy Reid. When I watched the Pittsburgh Steelers I feel like you know what? Say what you want about them. Those dudes show up to play. They show that debate that Cleveland round showed up to me reflect their head coach Mike Tomlin, who's gonna be in Canton One day. Mike Tomlin has his deficiencies. He gets beat up all the time in Pittsburgh for game management. But okay, I feel like he sets the tone. Mike Vrabel, Tennessee Has shown the traits of great game manager, right. What do we see from Zach Taylor Ineptitude? I see nothing but losing. Hands. I wanted to you and I talked about this before the season began by the end of the year. We wanted to know two things. Did the Bengals have their quarterback to the Bangles have their coach. I think we feel like they have their quarterback. We're 22 games into this. I don't know if they have their coach. If I'm still asking the same question I was a year and a half ago. That's bad. I wrote a column for the athletic for the second time in 12 months that brought up the name Dave.

"You're like my best player. So I want you to feel comfortable here when you're here with us, and this is a we thing. Instead, no boom. It goes right to social media throws a stud coach under the bus, and he almost loses his job. What can these things we talked about behind door? I I totally agree with what you're saying. I don't see it getting any better at all day because I think it's just, you know, Social media's kind of Ah, look at me. It's not kind of it is is a look at me. Look what I'm all about kind of thing and everyone else be damned. I don't see that getting any better. But nevertheless, I agree. I agree with missing. Yes, I agree with that 100,000 social media by nature. It's an I'm eating it. It's a selfish thing. It's not a team thing. You know, I mean, on guys on social media. They're trying to just take a match and throwing the guests. You lie, Dave. It works be these players. There are when they're on social media, and they're saying this that we're doing that they're getting the endorsement deals are getting the attention, so it's not like they're doing it and there's any repercussions. It's working. So of course they're going to do it. Absolutely absolutely. And, you know, I think I think that it is turned into as big a problem. It's not the biggest problem. The coaches have to deal with it. I really do and they will believe that. Lap lap. The fans obviously aren't happy right now, and you're hearing a lot about you know the name Dave Shula is coming up in comparison of Dave shooter Zach Taylor to Dave Shula. Is that fair? What do you What do you make? What do you make of that? Obviously, we know the record in the record comparison. Certainly, But when it comes to coaching ability is is this a fair? A fair comparison here? I mean, it's totally different circumstances, probably different here in totally different players. Totally different. Everything you know, I mean, that's like, you know, that's like saying is You know, George Washington is good of President Jimmy Carter. I just I just think that the bottom line is you. Jets on wins and losses that that's what it boils down to period. You know, that's why that's why there's only a few people in the world do it. That's where you get compensated assembly is you do to do it? And it's cutthroat in that, you know if you don't if you don't produce, you know, I could be around very long. It's like the NFL. Not for long. If you're not, you're not producing them. It's a meritocracy. I mean, if you're not winning football games, somebody's going to get the shot. That's the bottom line. No doubt will listen day. We've got to run, but you and Lance are coming up here at six o'clock, correct. Yes. 66 o'clock. We got the We're first. Spielman contacted him to talk about what he saw in the game. We've got Zach Taylor. We could Bob, but now we've got tea, Higgins. A whole bunch of players, So it'll be a fun show lab. I'll be tuning, Brother. Thanks so much. Thanks. Have a good one guys have seen now. Chris Spielman, if you watch the game Also was very critical of the third and one call with nine minutes left for the Bengals. Hand the ball off to some Ajay P. Ryan who? As I said earlier with Willie, I bet you if you polled 100 Bangles fans And asked them is this guy on the team or not on the team because they said, Who is this Hu Zi? And yet we're giving the ball on a fullback dive when we don't use a fullback regularly in the offense, and we give the ball to a guy who's had 13 touches since 2017 or something crazy, first won all year. Versus given it to Joe Mixon. Chris Spielman didn't like that call. I also did not like the call. If you're going to run a play in the critical situations, you give it your best players. You don't try to outsmart you. Don't think about You know, drawn up the perfect scheme going go down. They're not going to make the first down, you say Look, we gave it our best player and they stopped And it's moments like that Rock. Where give people reason to question the coaching. Exactly. I just I have said this earlier, too. But I I think because Zach Taylor was I won't say a questionable higher but I don't think anybody right if you ask them said okay, that that's clearly the guy look at his resume. That wasn't part of conversation. But he said he's young. He's under been under McVeigh and sure he's learned a lot. OK, we'll give this guy shot, but I think because He in his head faces questions about. He's gotta prove himself. That's what he did. That's why I didn't play. In my opinion, he said. You know what? I'm going to show everyone how smart I am gonna call this scheme out here. No, he overthought ever thought in and she sticks with it was fieldwork. He's feel like he has to prove himself instead of just going coach and fixing things that aren't broken. Speaking of fixing things, Rob, how was the traffic?.

"That's you know, Here's what I think. I told this was talked about this. I think Zach Taylor. Is in a position where he has to prove himself. He doesn't feel like a lot of people and probably rightfully so have a lot of confidence, really head coach even when he was when he was hired. Really? I think he's got to show how smart you is. And so he outthought himself there instead of giving the ball to Joe Burrow on a sneak Joe Mixon are sneak Giovanni Bernard on a run up the middle or to the outside or any number of their 12. Other things you would have done before you hand the ball to go back when I played football at ST Saviour's with Gordon veteran. Oh, we had a guy in the back field name. Alan Stryker, Alan Stryker, the great Alan 46 give the ball to number 46. And let him decide. Topper best player. We can live with that. But not ones. They piss one small J p Ro p. Ryan, I wouldn't get the vault of that guy and people even those on the team. Why, Hey, tricked it now, want it? Because I think he again. You ever thought of some point during the countless hours of film study? That's the guy, right? Oh, I bet we can really trick tomorrow third and short scenario by giving a little surprise, Quick handoff to the full back on the dive where they use a fullback. I don't know now. The 1st 22 games of Dave Shula versus Zach Taylor, who won more games. Dave Shula Arzak Shuler, his brother from another mother. I don't know the answer. I know he is. Sure Twins had a much better record. Yes, Dave Shula, and now we got Zack Shula. Does he complete this season? Things gotta get switched around in a hurry. Because there's a deal. It is for all the negatives. There's a lot of positives. Believe it or not, we got Joe Burrow whom I saw you before the season started number one question is at the end of the year. Can we a spans and a staff and organization looking challenge? Say Joe Burrows, the dude. He looks like the dude right? Looks like he's no one's saying, God, I love we picked the right note note saying he looks good. All we got that we've got T Higgins. He's looks real good. Jesse Bates, young safeties playing good, Not bad. Tyler Boys, a young guy playing good, Not bad. So the point is, you have a lot of those pieces, especially the Big one. Which is quarterback. You gotta nail that the bills before Kyle Allen. We're trying to nail quarterback since Jim Kelly. It's hard to get that piece, right. We think we've got to think we got it so you don't need to have it. You can't waste the time. How many years of the Colts waste with Andrew Luck? A transcendent, talented quarterback didn't surround him with the right kind of place. He coming back. By the way, your luck is not coming back. Rumors are maybe next year after Koven. According to who may have just made that up. Is that possible? Maybe would be great. So anyway, I don't think so. I don't think he's coming back. But nevertheless, I think at some point things need to change quickly around the scene because you cannot hurt the development in waste Prime.

"I mean it kind of got to be a little worried solid little little as as as a friend. Andrew Hawkins point he named his kid after led away and and Little Wayne is a packers fan. Some problems some problems you know. He's got a lot issues away. Chemistry yeah moved dependency. What does that mean for Perry fuel? Like if you take on the personality your head coaches that means because the panthers got blue blown out like four straight weeks at perfumes like some type of like I think it's typically when things are going to your point I feel like it doesn't need to be said I feel like if you're a football fan. You're watching your team over the course of a year you feel that pointing pointing that out feels a little excessive. I once saw the bengals take on the personality of Dave Shula when the linebacker came over and patted him on the head on the sideline rough all right good recap Oh the AFC championship NFC championship schedule is as follows Uh Hamas vamp somebody say nothing well wanted me to say it. Yeah tightened the chiefs play at three zero five eastern. They're up first nice in in the NFC packers in San Francisco. Six Forty Eastern. I like these matchups. This is nice. I there is no match up where where I would be annoyed. And that's usually well. Usually the Patriots are involved here. "It's the best change that the happened to me while I feel young again, I'm energetic. Now, you know what? I mean, I do. I think I would like to think that a lot of the Bengals players feel the same way the ones who have been there and seen a lot under Marvin Lewis. Hopefully, they feel the same way. How do you feel about the coaching overhaul in what has, you know, the young guy they're bringing in and? Obviously, you're excited, you know, to that. But I mean, are you are you also hesitant? I mean, you've been a fan of this team for longtime or are you worried that this is a David Shula esque? I guess kind of signing. Now now now now, I don't see I don't think Ruko quite in that direction. Dave Shula when he took over Egypt over right after saying why Mike Brown had no experience whatsoever. In owning NFL football team. Those were just some some bad times Paul Brown recently passed away as the Bengals were in shambles. They really were. No, they're nowhere near that condition right now. And I don't know if my friends children his daughter is sunning all have a lot of say. So now, I I don't know, but they have made some great changes here. And I don't think they're anywhere near that condition. Right now. I think they will be good. I think there's go g staff I would think it worst would be eight. I mean, I don't know. But look after watching Marvin Lewis for sixteen years, and after just gumming this attitude that this team every care. They are. Run like some Iraq recy-, they never make changes. And yeah, they sold the stadium out for quite a while. They did Mike Brown's the NBA the NFL because he had a mediocre team. Never wanted drivetime never one of the playoffs yet. He can no no aged says sold out stadium. Well, that began to change these last two years the fans were like, okay. Go ahead breath marva back. You're not bringing us back out. It was a lot of people. And I think that had a lot to do with the changes make so so yeah, I'm going to end this year. I gave it six years when they lost the charges. I said ain't going back up. Really playoff game. I don't myself that. And so I'm going to game next year. So man, I feel great. I feel young again. Let us let us know which one you go to and if we can swing it out there. We'd love to meet you in person, man. Fantastic. Got some good times coming. Definitely, okay. Well, got to take up to stop. I don't know if you've got other callers, right? But I'm just tickled to death and go onto what John was saying about Canada hero of mean. Domes did hear what eight years nine years? I like Dalton. But I wouldn't I wouldn't argue John about Janna hill right now if they did Drake all still bit. Now, I would like to see doll as I was chatting early. I'd like to see him get one season under a new coaching staff. It was all along. Louis, and I would like to see just one season of this dancy. What he does if we wanna Super Bowl fantastic. If we don't then whatever. Or if I decide not to do it at all, and trade, whatever I mean, the Bengals are making changes. And I'm not going to argue with any changes, they make this point. I'm just happy something different happens. It's about if you deal Dalton it's using the resources that you'd get from dealing him and using them wisely to better the team. That's you know, whether that's freed of money from from another quarterback or moving up to get a potential franchise changing guy. John, we're we're gonna close up shop reshi eight colon in good hearing from you. Thanks for calling in our time here five tied up. Awesome. All right. Well, let's get to a couple of quick text messages here. John because you know, you've already had a couple of people come your way. About the the Dalton saying. Let's see what was the ads from from dean saying I just wanna say with John, and it's time to turn the page on Dalton he has value. Now, don't miss out like they did with Chad Johnson when they could when they could have gotten two first round picks..

"Very strong words from Steven A, and this time at least I think maybe something to be mad about right more. So than occasionally with. But what do you make of what he had to say about Marvin Lewis because this is a guy who people are very polarized on. I understand the narrative about the Bengals in their mediocrity. And I'm not saying it's not rightfully frustrating for Bengals fans in general. Because you we talk all the time like there are different tiers that it's frustrating to be stuck in and the tier of were good. But we can't seem to win. We can't seem to win a SuperBowl. That's that's frustrating for fan bases. But let's remember the if you look at the total record for Marvin Lewis especially coming into the season. His record was was as good as John gruden's. Jon Gruden got a ten year one hundred billion dollar contract for the same coaching record as Marvin Lewis and fact is what we're forgetting is that these sixteen years of only produced four losing seasons. That's significant for a franchise that the thirty years before that we're absolutely irrelevant. So you have to look at it and say, what is it? That they were coming from where they trying to go in the Bengals have had such a difficult run to getting to relevance. I'm not sure I'm willing to look at it coach that's one fifty two percent of his games. Gone to the playoffs seven times. I know he hasn't won any but he's gone to the playoffs. Seven times. I'm not willing to say that it's an outright fail every year. I see what you're saying. And that is that this is a guy who took them out of complete. Anonymity and made them a perennial winner. And that's important. I don't know why we're still on around the well because Mike does not appreciate my tone. I was all things not because I'm not going to be as concise as you need to be on around the horn when you're spitting it out in time. But as much as I understand what you're saying. What matters now that he has taken them out of relative obscurity and into a space where there are expectations is to grow and improve upon that. And he hasn't he hasn't the playoffs every single year, and they're not even gonna make them this year, especially with Dalton out, but every single time. It doesn't matter what they do during the regular season. It doesn't matter. How successful it seems like he's made his team when they get to the postseason it all goes away, and it doesn't work anymore, and it can be your own fault for changing expectations. But once you've changed them you need to get better. And he hasn't this. This is for I think last season the fifteenth straight time he'd failed to win a postseason game last year, and that's not good enough anymore. But don't you have to it some point look at it again when I go back to the history of the organization, and you think about the fact that he's the second winningest coach they've had they haven't had a better coach winning wise since nineteen eighty two eighty three forced Greg had a better winning percentage. That's the last time he won coach of the year in two thousand nine only two other coaches for Bengals for the Bengals all the way in history have done that. So when you think about where they came from. And the fact that before Marvin Lewis was dick lebeau. Bruce Kosslick Dave Shula even saying why should win to some Super Bowls. You're talking about all of those guys one less than Marvin Lewis has and as much as we want to come in and say you gotta win one bowl. So you were total or a lower percentage, but not less if they wanna Super Bowl they went into the Super Bowl why the Super Bowl, but he was the sixty one in sixty six coach. I mean, he he won less than half of his I guess. You can you can semantics at or you can statistics at to death bits. But if you were a fan of the Bengals and you were going on sixteen seasons without a playoff win. You would want the same coach. That's as a no, I don't want to say it because you know, I'm right? No, no, no, no. I've been in this situation when the raiders were really good in the early two thousands..

"They're not bad, but they're not good enough and they're okay with that. I think that's the overwhelming sentiment here. I think there's a difference between caring about winning and really, really wanting to win. They wanna win. They wanna win. I'm not sure that it's the most important thing. I think they value loyalty and stability. I'm not really sure they know how to win. It's very outdated franchise. I think they know how to win in nineteen seventy two. I'm not sure they know how to win in two thousand eighteen, and that is the biggest lament of every Bengals fan in this stadium. And obviously among those who aren't here tonight, we're talking to mow Egger on the show penzo performance on you can hear them on ESPN fifteen thirty in Cincinnati. He's at Paul Brown stadium on Spain and Fitz ESPN radio sarahspain, Jason Fitz so mo- is there any logic though to considering how bad the Bengals were for so many years that that winning at a level of ten games, eleven games as Marvin. Lewis has done for for many years in his career is an acceptable result at some level of winning. Even if it's not playoffs is. Is better than dipping back into the waters of possibly being irrelevant and horrible. I think that's, I think that's what a lot of fans default to. You know, Marvin Lewis for as much as he's become a punching bag for losing seven times in the playoffs, fifteen years without winning a playoff game. Most of us remember what it was like before he got here, this was Tiberia. This was you know, you talk to players who played here in the nineties or early two thousand. They almost described something that doesn't sound like the NFL. Now I tend to think, you know, TV host Manzana this summer said before Marvin got there. We didn't have enough water. We didn't have jock straps. They're not gonna. Take the job, try some water away. If Marvin Lewis has gone. But I do think there's a great fear. Look, this is the same owner who hired Dave Shula. Worst winning percentage. Aside from Hugh Jackson ever hired, Bruce Cazalet stayed with them hired dick lebeau, stayed with them. And so I do think there's a great fear of while you might be able to do better than Marvin Lewis. You can certainly do worse and because of what this franchise values, whoever they hire after Marvin Lewis. Will be given years to see what he can do. And so you've got to respect what marvins done here. No other head coach took them to the playoffs before Marvin Lewis, and unless you go back to Sam Weiss from the mid eighties and nobody brought him into the twenty first century, the way Marvin Lewis did. No one has made them relevant the way Marvin Lewis has, but we've graduated from that. And I think a lot of people would say, yeah, all that's well and good. But now we judge that franchise by what do you do in January and this head coach doesn't get it done in January. And while I tend to think there's a lot to really like about this Bengals team more so for the future than for the president. All many Bengals fans are going to say is yeah, but the head coach can't get them over the hump and until he proves otherwise. That's how people are gonna feel and the minute they get rid of him. I promise you there's going to be right set the skepticism as to whether the next guy is actually going to be better or if like three predecessors before him, they're actually going to be worth talking to mow anger from ESPN fifteen thirty. He's at Paul Brown stadium taken in ravens and Bengal. Nls tonight. You can follow him on Twitter at MO, Egger fifteen thirty. Let's talk about that match up tonight. Andy, Dalton, five and thirteen in prime time games and this team, I think overall seven and six against the ravens though. What do you make of the match up. I think this comes down to the light side of the Bengals offense of line being number. One goal for this team off this off season was to get better up front. That's really hard to go from arable last year to really good this season. It's kind of a two year process. So they've addressed the left side of the offensive line. They've addressed the center..
