"It's to bet they don't. It's too bad that's only was gradient spewing out all the stuff that the that the bears coaches were giving him. What's amazing you know. Wasn't that absolutely amazing. I mean what the bears and he didn't even hide it that well to where it's like boy. They were really just bus tossing the quarterback. I don't even think half of the stuff they said it's probably true. They're just trying to further the agenda. Of what andy dalton. So that way we can make it to the end of the year by saying you know what we three or four justin fields out of the back pocket. Let's go what a jack collins. Where thank of the decision to start. Andy dalton whatever's dad. Told him we gotta stop with this show every time. Yeah that's a good question. I mean he's often. But jack thing that's what i want. I don't know it's a good question. Absolute twenty seven to thirty eight for two hundred sixty but we know kevin jenkins was the bear second round pick supposed to be there left tackle. He's done for half the season. Maybe the whole season. Jason peters brought thirty nine years old. He gets her but third stringer gets are at their literally down to their fourth straight tackled. It's great in chicago right now. "Getting ready for the big game tomorrow before that. Let's go to dine who is in houston Hello don at all look the show. Thanks for having me on a couple of questions paul I'm an animal and just want to get your take on. What do you think our chances are not totally night and then also you know Seen a lot of You know rhetoric about the the you know the the the Twelve twelve team expansion For the playoff. And i just haven't seen a good reason. I think it makes more sense now than ever. But i'd like to get your take on that as well. Well i think we were heading down that that road until the oklahoma texas move and then everybody just a threw a fit. Blame the sec. For the price of oil. And we're at we're at a standstill right now. It's there's really no rational way to explain why this is on. Hold other than you have a lot. A petulant people in intercollegiate athletics. Who who. Who have really blown up. What i think was one of the salvations to the sport by by being more inclusive. I'm making it more entertaining as opposed to the same stale thing every year. I agree and i think that would have been the the best designed to get the group of five teams in and Appreciate the and then. What do you think i know. We have a new quarterback and course alabama is the standard And certainly it'll be favored but Just wanna see what you think are changed overnight. I want to see a little more. I i know most. Most people have already ticketed alabama in for the playoffs. I want to see what alabama looks like next week on the road swamp and depending on how they handle that I think it will be easier to frame. The conversation about texas tech sanam will not see anything remotely like alabama has seen at some point I guess. I the arkansas game before alabama trying to remember but I i think has a chance by by the ninth to to develop a little bit better than they did last week. And i think they have a reasonable shot at winning the game. I don't think alabama. We'll we'll we'll see to tougher atmospheres than the swamp and kyle field. And i think it's debatable. Which won't be tougher. Sure i agree. Yeah we do. Play arkansas before we Alabama i also think that the the sec because of the of the The fact that there were all at home this Except for. I mean arkansas. I guess the teams in question tennessee and then south carolina. I think they will put bail at home. I don't know what you think about that. I don't have much doubt will will roll into that game undefeated and highly regarded Don thank you for the call. Thank you very very much. Thank you thank you have you on so we let me just reset where we are right now. Well we're obviously we're Going to be talking next hour with tim. Tebow and sam pittman the head coach at the university of arkansas. Later on i mentioned we will have the athletic director here. Hundred zero check as well as As greg sankey The sec commissioner match joining us now part of the coverage of tomorrow's missouri kentucky game Matt great to have you with us and many are trying to frame this game Maybe rightly so as a as extremely critical in the sec east Kentucky got a lot of tongues wagging at the end of last week's game. Where do you. What do you make out of not only kentucky but the importance of this game walking for this season's purposes at least specific to this year. I do think it can help. Establish what the pecking order my being at east division. Haven't seen a ton from florida. It's an early conference game. Obviously one of the better match ups this week and of course it's to each division teams from a program trajectory standpoint pro early to do any assessment patrick pertains to missouri. But certainly in week ones kentucky got what they wanted from their offensive transition now albeit a non conference opponent one. That doesn't even come. Close to approximating an sec. Rossio like the one they're going to see tomorrow night versus missouri. But i do think that it's a good tone setter at the very least and if not a headstart for which team looks to be the the runner up so to speak in the east division. I think that you could make an argument for missouri. Certainly for kentucky and florida all three of those teams vying for we'll call it second place at this juncture in the season behind georgia. Let's talk about missouri for a second because you know. They have a now veteran quarterback in kufa bachelor What what did you read into first game. And what's this. What's the ceiling for this offense. Well it seems evident that they are definitely trying to get more explosive in the passing game. And that's something that. I think made very clear that you maybe last year. There were a little more conservative at the quarterback position based on the play calling and now they feel if they can open things up a bit more. I think that was evidenced last week. you know. Basically the guy that know kentucky even mitch. We recruited this guy. This guy that we were interested in And we do think that he has the arm to help them win games in the southeastern conflict. The real question will be is over the course of the season In the ground game do have a guy that can be the workforce that they had do. They need a workforce last year larry. Roundtree was among the top running backs in the country. As far as attempts per game part of that was a function of the play calling. So maybe that's mitigate a little bit by being more aggressive run past as a play caller missouri. But the other piece is that do they have the personnel. Could handle or even warrant an emphasis on the ground game looked great last week. But he's he built for that and take the pounding versus they far more physical and imposing defensive. Like the one that kentucky has. I think we'll get a chance to find that out You know tomorrow night. I don't know missouri can afford to try to hold anything back to within. It turns out that he does have the hot hand so to speak the other. Maybe finds out the hard way whether or not he can take a heavy load. And that often. I don't think that's what they want him to be But basically at quarterback. I think this year we'll be able to find out just what he's capable of. I think that's an intention The head coach and offense to play collar ally drink with his see exactly what he has in his quarterback because he's perhaps capable of more than what we saw them in two thousand twenty only have about thirty seconds lepuc. Can i get a quick impression. Jt may not play carson back Could end up being a quarterback what what happens to that offense Jt does not play in this game. Tamar yeah you know. I don't mean to diminish you a big A good program to say the least That said opposite of defense. That should be dominant yet again. This this saturday. I don't know that you should abbreviate anything offensively. I don't necessarily think you get off the bus. Throwing i think george opening game versus clemson. The three passes that said. I don't know that you should be overly concerned by playing offensively to protect your defense if anything They can't really afford to miss any games in developing that passing attack trying to get some semblance of the downfield Throw games something that they did not have the girls who's a quarterback something that they did not have birthday clinton can carson backbeat. You'd like to think that he could. We're out of time. The first hour has come to an end. We have been tibo coming up next. Do you own or rent your home show you do. Fortunately geico makes it easy to bundle your home and car insurance. It's a good thing too. Because.

"On that i would say. Sevice is probably the second best quarterback that i've oh well maybe phone eggs up there but Brandon let me say this. I don't get hung up on rankings. After the first week everyone played a different types of opposition. And i i think goes out tomorrow night and it has a big time game that will change. I mean that that is a huge game and I know we. We haven't talked about yet but we will. Hey thank you so much for the call. Kevin is up next in north carolina. Hello kevin well. Hey paul thanks. You let me visit again Quick quick housekeeping. Check the underside of you're right forearm. You got dirt there. Bruce or something or my hallucinating. You're talking about my right arm. Your right arm yeah. It's just hair That that's all going in fifty different directions okay. My bad was my tv. I thought you had a bruiser picked up dirt somewhere. Anyway i will. I will try to take a bath tomorrow night if i can get it off. Okay brother Do a waxing single. Yeah there you go there. It is do. A waxing thing gets gets a pain you know. Yeah you know. I i've I'm lucky that that's all that's all you're saying about me. I'm hey what what's on your mind. You have another other than me bruising. Easily i just wanted to make you make sure you look well okay So the trickle down effect you know. I'm just blown away Obviously that they. Ac's gotta backfill three now. Maybe two more later. But i'm just blown away I think they took the right four schools But it just doesn't make any sense to me boise state you know. They're a great underdog story. But when you compare them to usf obviously you may have looked at that stadium. Usf plays in the super bowl stadium etcetera and and They're they're they're you know they're travel partners would be. Ucf and academically. They're better and they're all sports. My biggest problem with this league Frankly not memphis another pretty good a possibility but they disagree. They just went out like remember when you were a kid. Your your your your folks who drag you to the cafeteria and the dessert would be first and you'd put apple pie on there and you start piling. They just went out and grab whatever. Look good and there's no continuity to this league. yeah. I know the records are good. These these football programs but you just there has to be something to a league in. The big ten is just a hodgepodge. You got west. Virginia over here you got. Byu eight time zones. Away over here in boise up there and i i trying to say you know. They're trying to put off the inevitable and that's going under and I'll give bob bos be credit for that but as far as the league with any commonality which however. i think. It's a disaster. Hey thanks thanks to call. We must go to a break. We will start bouncing around some of the sites of the big games tomorrow including a stop in knoxville. we'll head to starkville. We have a lot of big games that we have a chance to talk about. We are live in fayetteville. Arkansas listening to paul finebaum show podcast. So first time. Ever on the paul finebaum show and we have an issue with paul. So it's dave pasch here in knoxville tennessee. Just going to tell you about what we learned. Today we spoke with josh hypol- the new head coach here at tennessee. He feels pretty good about his offense. Joe milton michigan. Transfer will start again tomorrow against pitt. Didn't have a great game week one but coach hypol- told us that team believes in joe. Milton and milton also told us that he played all of last year with a torn ligament in his thumb. He had surgery on that thumb after last season and he felt a connection with hypo going back to win. He was being recruited by hypo when he was growing up in. Orlando hypo coach. Ucf but at that point he was at missouri as the offense coordinator and he was trying to get milton to go play for the tigers. Milton chose harbaugh in michigan. But he feels like he's had that connection with hypo all along as for pit. The panthers won the coastal in two thousand eighteen. But it feels like the door is open. Not only for them to get back there but may be win the acc. They have one of the most experienced quarterbacks in college football. Maybe the most one of the most underrated anyway in kenny. Pickett and paul. You're back now. So go ahead next rap me on dave. I look forward to this day for so long. I i have to say. I mean everyone knows. You're a consummate professional but to be able to just pick up. And i mean you could have gone on for four more hours.

"They. The rid of with let China Robinson. Low basketball fans. Yes, it is finally the fourth of region of the PA women's basketball tournament the Portland region preview. We apologize that we are a little bit late getting this to you. We had some technical issues with recording this region, but we're here, and we hope that you will get a little bit of taste of what to expect from the Portland region for what we have a head. Now in case you did not hear about the teams in the Portland region. Quite yet. There's week sixteen. Pod includes Mississippi State, Arizona state, South Dakota state in Oregon and to get us kicked off the big story in the Portland region. Is that Sabrina UNESCO recorded her second triple double in the NCAA tournament in her career eighteenth overall eighth of this season? She is the undisputed triple double Queen because she owns the record both in season as well. As a career. We talked to Sabrina UNESCO. Dave Pasch, and I my partner in this region after they advanced to the Sweet Sixteen keeping in mind. The first round they'd be Portland state second round, they'd beat Indiana. And we'll let you hear from Sabrina what she had to say. I ball on the wind, but China now, we're wondering did you miss that last one on purpose? Are you gonna go? So I was like let me just kinda out a little bit more rotation on this shot. So I can get it back. Well, you know, what a lot of people try to do that. And we're not successful for the fact that you even did that is the in itself boy Donnelly performance, and you know, I asked you earlier today about your shooting versus you're passing because you didn't shoot it. Well, what what as? Live in in your first round game. But what was your mindset tonight? I mean, I just didn't want to go home. And I knew this was going to be our last time on this home court this year. And I wanted to go out and give it everything. I got my teammates got me the ball on the right time, and they shot the ball too. So it was overall great game up for offensively. There's been some discussion. And I'm sure you're not going to touch on it. But this could be your last game and Eugene, and you're still the year left availability. What did it mean to go out if it's the last game forever? The last game this season with the triple double here in the ago. I mean, it's awesome. I love how they support me. And then they get really loud cheer when I get close. And so it's been also playing in front of such a great crowd the atmosphere. Here was awesome today. I didn't think many people would come because the men play around the same time. But so I love you, gene. So happy for everyone that came out and supported us you to the Sweet Sixteen again, she have every year your career, but your junior this year, so different level of expectation. How is your team handled that knowing that, you know, there's an expectation for you to get to the final four? I mean, we've all been in this position before and a lot of us have in the ones that have in are just learning from us. And I think our core group that's been in that elite eight bubble knows that we don't we don't want that we want to get further. And so we're just using that as as motivation to keep going. Well, congratulations on the win. You guys are looking forward. You talked about the crowd tonight. I'm sure it'll be a great crowd of the motive Senate. Congratulations. So in the beginning of that conversation, we were talking to Sabrina about her triple double in that second round game against Indiana. And she finished with twenty nine points, ten rebounds, twelve assists. But basically told day passion myself there that she missed her final rebound shot. She shot the basketball got her own rebound for her tenth rebounds, a complete that triple double. And we all know it's hard to miss a shot. I mean, I played basketball. It you have those moments where your code says. Okay. Miss this free throw because you're doing a rebounding drill or something. It's hard to miss his shot. It's definitely hard to miss..

"Talk a lot of stuff that they've passed along. Go on. Cardinals. I first pick ahead of the Niners. Good enough to join us, courtesy of the Duma guessing. Hi, dave. How are you? Hey, guys, how we doing? We're doing good. Oh, get rebound Pash. Get a rebound. Tommy, you know, him all too. Well, I mean, you, you know, the drill. Now does he does he still before the games you say, where's my hot water, hot water, and lemon? I need my wandering. No, he doesn't. He doesn't drink water before games. Now. It's just post game. He will sit there though, he says he's trying to cut down on plastic. So he does not drink it out of the bottle. He brings his own thermoses. Again. He he says, he refuses the plastic. But then he's all these energy choose which are nothing, but plastic aren't candles made of plastic. That's true. Good. No awesome. Was that? They did a priceless thing was a look on your face. Like, I can't believe you did that. I I kidding. I I know you were. It wasn't. You know, I said, I dare you to eat the cupcake while it's like so that would have surprised me if he would have just taken a bite of the cupcakes the candle he did it again, we actually have Bobby Hurley on with us post game and Bobby is a big Bill fan and Bobby at heard about it. So Bill did it form again, just to Sean? It wasn't too difficult. It's so good. You gotta I said, you gotta love having him with you. I mean at all times, he he is a major so funny. And he does like I always say this about Bill he loves the game. I mean, he really does love love basketball, and some of the stuff you just have to learn to go with. But this year the Pac twelve has been so rotten that I I appreciate them. Even more this year with you guys because you guys have such a good time. You make the game entertaining. Because to be quite Frank. The Pac twelve hasn't been real entertaining this year. No, it's been a real disappointing year, and you know, had and I had a feeling coming into the year that. There were a couple teams. I did think Washington. We'll be good. Yeah. I thought Oregon would be better. But then they lose bowl bowl basically ruined their season. Arizona brutal things, you know, the Shawn Miller stub, obviously, they didn't get the recruit last year and then their sophomore class. They're pretty much over five when you say that they knew he was going to be one and done but the other four guys one of them transferred. The other three guys have not had the impact that they thought they would. So it's just been the perfect storm of of awful things happening. They resorted, but I still wouldn't count them out in Vegas next week. Sean a great coach they've got enough talent where they get if they get a by which happened. But I do think they could win three in a row, and no I do too. I think there are eight teams they could possibly win it because I think that's where the Pac twelve is. I mean, I think Washington Arizona state are your favorites. But I do think there are. Teams that could get on a little bit of a role and have a player to get hot. And they could win that tournament. And then then it'll be interesting. I think Washington should be in. I'm not positive. But boy, they tell you what if Washington wins at tournament. Dave, you could be the especially if on a state goes out early. You could be looking at a one bid league, which is it's hard to fathom. Yeah. I think one thing that that helps her is on a state is that one of their wins was against Washington. You look at you last year with USC finished second. They were I think against the team that made the tournament. Oh and four that's what really hurt them their own four against the teams on their own conference that made the tournament. Yeah. I agree with you on in Washington, you're to get in. I think Arizona state unless loses to Arizona this week. And then bows out in the quarter final. They're gonna get in Kansas win, Washington. Women say of smother decent wins. I think because they played a tougher schedule there. Okay. So I really think point you're talking two or three because know team win the tournament. I didn't Washington's okay. But you know, let's see what happened. Yeah. One of them collapses. You're down the stretch that could change talking to Dave Pasch. Like we're talking about you got the two at the bottom. Washington. State. New Cal Cal. You got the two at the top in Washington state. And then everybody else is kind of eight nine or eight or whatever they are from from your seat. What is your analysis of just what has gone wrong for the for the conference? Well, I think the confidence has been hurt by the one and done more than anybody else. I think that that's hurt Oregon with Troy Brown leading last year. And now the injury to bowl bowl UCLA has been affected by it. Obviously the coaching stitching situation with UCLA has had a impact on on. What's going on there? Zona losing all those guys. I mean, they they lost five guys that are playing professional basketball team last year. But I do think the coaching thing is is an issue with the UCLA. I think they still have the most talent conference, and you know, again, Arizona's down UCLA's down. It seems like when those two were down. That's all know. Nobody's focuses on anybody else and Gonzaga right now. Jon Rothstein talk about this Jack is taking so much attention away on the Pac twelve because of what they're doing. And maybe the maybe the Pac twelve needs to start looking at adding them as a basketball only number. I can only help. Interesting. I didn't think about that. Yeah. I think I think you're right. I mean, they they've been good and they've been good for long time. Although if I'm Mark view and I'm getting saga. I'm like why the hell would I do that? I don't need to be a member of the pack twelve I'm going to win the WCTC every single year. I can still schedule really good non conference games and getting people to come here, either, Gonzaga or Seattle and be almost assured they're gonna make it, and I'm getting recruits, I don't wanna go there and maybe finished fourth or fifth. I mean, I I think the pack twelve would would would maybe like to have them. I don't know their academic standards may be a little different. But if I'm Mark few. I'm like, yeah. I'm good. But they do, you know, financially the school's going to benefit he's going to benefit still think they're good enough where they could win the league every year. I mean, they're they're getting NBA players on their roster right now better players on their roster than anybody in the Welby beat Washington. It was a close game up there. But they be Washington early year. Right. I I understand what you're saying. Yeah. Would you rather face the teams in the WCC every year the teams in the Pac twelve yes? But I don't think that it's that much of a slam dunk that, you know, Mark, you know, I think this is a bad idea. Yeah. I guess they would want wanna miss out on that windfall. For the Pac twelve network, right? Moving onto the NFL before we keep doing it on the Pac twelve what are your thoughts on? What's the rumors that are kind of swirling around with zone in in Josh Rosen leaving and Cuyler Murray coming in? I mean, that's still two months away for the draft. So we're going to hear a lot of that stuff. But didn't you call the games this curious, your thoughts on everything that's kind of swirling around the organization right now? NFL draft subterfuge. Alive. And well, you you can't believe anything you read or hear yet. You have to believe all of it. Look, it's it's reasonable both scenarios are reasonable because you you traded up to get Josh Rosen last year you put him behind the bat offensive line you fired his offense coordinator a month into the season. You're fired as head coach after a year. You had no receivers around him. So he he didn't get a chance to develop and grow the way you hoped he would and the other scenario of well. Yeah. And and you know, you showed some inaccuracy at times he didn't see the field at times and you've got a different offense an offense. It better suits Cuyler Murray who is taller now. Based on what we saw the combine last week than most people thought, including me you stood next to him. I thought he was more like five eight. I think it's it's a real possibility because you went out, and you you've gone and made this higher include Kingsbury higher. You never would've made five years ago in the NFL. But because of the way the game is going both scenarios make sense. And so I believe it. But I think ultimately just my opinion. I think ultimately they're going to go defensive line. Maybe they trade down and get another pick. That's just me. Like, you said, I mean, we got we got a long way to go. There's still a lot of evaluating players to be done. Yeah. It's amazing. We just went through this with Bryce Harper potentially coming to the giants. And as you tweeted this out, you said another day another Tyler Maury. Josh Rosen report can't believe we have to listen to this fifty more days is long it is long. And like you said we're fifty days away, and they're already doing this. Charley Casserly comes out today. And know his comments about Cuyler Murray's leadership some of the things he was sharing a lot the where he's heard that from. I I heard something different. So and then also another report that, you know, they're shopping Rosen already even if Steve time the GM is reached out the teams to try to gauge their interest. It does he's gonna trace. I mean, it's the smart thing to do if you're trying you're what you're trying to do is generate as much interest in possible and Cuyler Murray. So that everybody thinks you're going to take him number one. And maybe you do take them number one. Or maybe you get this incredible offer because he's been talked up so much that now you can move down. And somebody moves into that spot. You get to keep Rosen and you get to add another first round pick. And you get to draft a game changing defensive line because there are several those in the draft. Bash? Nice enough to join us. I wanted to hit some NBA with you as well. We're talking about this, David. We're looking at the teams who could most threaten the warriors this year to keep them from winning a third straight championship. And of course, you have to throw Toronto and Milwaukee and Philadelphia in there. I can't throw Boston in there until they start playing a little bit. Better. But Houston's one team. I think that feels like after going three and against them this year taking him to game seven last year. The feels like I think they know they can beat them. Now, they have it in the playoffs. But they're so dangerous. I think the free pickup was really nice hardens a one man wrecking crew and only they'll be an intimidation factor there, and I think that would be a tough a warriors favored, but a tough match-up if they had to face them in the second round. If you ask me Tom back in. Uh? Mid december. I would've said the Lakers because of the way they were playing Klay Thompson. Right before the all star break sat down with us. And he said man, I mean right now we're going to be playing the Lakers in the first round. That's the last seat. We wanna see in the playoffs like trying to beat LeBron James four times. But we've got the Lakers tomorrow night. I'm I'm in LA right now. And I it's right now, we're going to be a miracle, basically. But then to make the playoffs their schedule and where they are the loss call now and to your point in Houston. So I'm watching them right now, they're winning in Toronto. You make a good point. I mean, they're they're playing better there at full strength. They know what it takes to beat the warriors. Chris Paul doesn't go down to they win that series. Who does he snapped the play in the first round? That's what if they have to play. Okay. See in the first round. Can they get by them? Yeah. Kim they get to the three. So they don't have to worry about playing the rock or the the warriors until the conference finals. Can they can they up games to to jump Utah? And okay, see, I don't know..

"The Lakers say, well, we don't wanna play him as much because we're out of the playoff race. And if we lose games, that's fine too. We'll get a better drop position. If you're the Commissioner, do you say, well, you can't do that. Because it's LeBron and people are paying to see LeBron. They're coming specifically to see LeBron had he handled that situation. I I think it's a slippery slope here I get where he's going against get these guys impact the league and people want to watch him play. But it's to me, it's it's slippery slope in that you're going to have to have different rules for different guys in different teams, depending on where they are in the standing in. Oh, by the way, in case anybody doesn't notice pelicans one three in a row, which is surprised the practice to be. But ages I avoid is starting to get into some deep waters here when you're starting to discuss minutes and how guys should use a rotation then this guy should play. I don't care if this guy plays or not this guy needs play in the fourth this guy. I don't care about. This guy's teams out of it. Or this teams out of it. But people still want to watch him play. It seems like it's gonna be a lot of teams out. They're they're going to go to the commission go. Hey, wait a minute. We need to have a little consistency here. Well, first of all I I feel for the fan, but it's not like a concert. You know, like if a band is coming to town and at the last minute, they replaced the lead singer or van halen's coming to town and Eddie van Halen has been replaced on lead guitar by that's a bunch of crap. But you don't you're not guaranteed to see a certain player. I mean, the warriors got Harrison Barnes because they decided when Steph curry was hurt down the stretch in two thousand ten or whatever it was. Did they weren't gonna they were gonna take the chance of people talk about this all the time only certain teams tanking. Well, the players never tank because they're not gonna just say hell with it. Yeah. Come draft my replacement, please. Like they're gonna play hard because there's tape all over the league. They're always going to play are the only way a team can manipulate how they're gonna finish is if they if they just sit guys up is done for your look, I think it should be the Lakers choice down the stretch. If if they're out of it. I don't wanna tax LeBron. I'm sorry that you bought tickets for late in the season. I apologize. But we're gonna sit him for ten games. Just like if I'm the pelicans this guy. Anthony Davis is my ticket to the future. And if I can if he gets hurt if he pulls a DeMarcus cousins right now, and he rips his achilles, I'm screwed. So that the Commissioner is going to tell me that say the last ten games the year, or when I get eliminated that I can't that. I still have to play Anthony Davis like there's this has gone on for years and years and years and years and years in every single sport. So you're telling me now that I have to appease the. Fan. That's not the right way to do it. I mean it you're right. It's there's a line here somewhere. But teams have always been able to do it. They've always been able to sit guys they've always been able to do what's best in the best interest of the organization and the New Orleans is a great city, but it's not a destination for MBA players. So they've got to be able to take this guy in tournament a three or four players. And if he gets injured they're screwed. So if he does get injured I'm going to the Commissioner going you're going to give me some extra picks. Getting what are you gonna do you made me plan? And now he blew a knee or an achilles or whatever it's in their best interest, and he doesn't play and look I feel for the fan, but an organization has to do with best for the organization, don't they? Yes. Yeah. Bottom line. Yes. But boy, if you're if you're still in it, mathematically, I think that to me there's a difference between still being mathematically in it and being out of it that that to me there's the line of demarcation there. Like if you're in it, and you're resting guys. That are healthy. I think that's a bigger issue than they were out of it. We're completely out of it. We want arrest him. Now, I think you should be able to do that. But you also think about. You know, a dad and his two sons that go to the game, and they wanna see LeBron and LeBron's sift. And he doesn't play. I know people have made the analogy with baseball, but baseball at least baseball you can kind of see a couple of star players day game after a night game or after an eighteen inning game. In baseball to be honest long year and in two hundred and sixty two games. So I mean, you can kinda see come a little bit. But people still get upset like Posey's resting urban, very barges take a day off every now, and again it happens, and it stinks. You usually you just don't see that in basketball, very often. We're guy is is rested. The words we'll do it occasionally, but they have four stars. So if steps out, and I don't know Steph will get any rest this year because he was out with injury already. But K D just took a day off. Klay has died. I don't know if clay with the injury of he's taken off. But I know tonight. Yeah, he's Draymond has he dollar has. But look here's the thing is good as Andre is. No one's paying money to see on. No, they're not. And if he sits out because arrest, no one's gonna no one's gonna care. Really? It's stephan. Katie it Steph and K D. It's Anthony Davis is LeBron James James harden entered a combo. I mean, there are about ten or fifteen players that if you paid to go see and they're not playing then it's you feel like damn I just spent four or five hundred dollars on this. And they're not playing out. Now, they're hurt. That's one thing. But if it's now, we're gonna arrest them. We're just gonna sit him down in and him tonight. I don't know what the NBA thought they were doing the stupid load management thing that makes any more palatable. Wrestling, it's slowed manage. Okay, that's fine. That's totally dumped as an actual term down with load management. I forgive you guys. I would address always management so must people by the way, don't buy that. Even though it's I do think it's a real thing. Like most people go I get up at five AM every day. And I were worse like, I get it. But but it's not that so tired. They can't play. It's what's best for the player. Right. His health and what's best for the end of the season making sure, but he's ready to rock and roll at the end of the season. But again back to the whole Anthony Davis thing is a huge sliding scale. They got working here advise New Orleans. I just tell the NBA find me because I'm not losing the sky if because of this guy gets hurt what the hell are they gonna do? What if he gets hurt like DeMarcus cousins got hurt unlikely? What are the pelicans do? The lead can't give him picks. The league can't make players go. There really screwed they're screwed because then his contract will run out while he's rehabbing and they get nothing for the guy. I get it. And he's a big star. And he's the only reason to come watch New Orleans. And if you're especially if you if you have like season tickets, and you want home games and your fan of the team. I get it. But even if I was a fan of the home team, I think I'd go you know, what I don't wanna get hurt. Like, I if I was a fan of the New Orleans pelicans a thinking fan, and you wouldn't even have to think that much because I can come up with anybody. Can I just say I want him to play? I wouldn't want him to play because I wouldn't want him to get hurt as much as it would be cool to watch him play. I think if you polled most fans like if this was a worse issue, and let's eight with staff or any of these guys are Katie I think most people would be like now, he's an asset. I don't wanna lose them. So don't play. Are they given the fans way too much credit way too much credit? I think they're by ticket. They wanna see the stars. Go have a good time. Hardcore fans out there. But I think most of the guys they want to see. And if they don't they're like what Dan that's five hundred bucks down the tubes, Damian Lee, and all but. Why can't he which wear headman, by the way? That's a good question. Everybody's going engine. Now. Everybody goes we're gonna make that ninja thing legal. They might they might be our conversation. Dave Pasch is gonna join us at six. So we got a an open our for you matter. Barrels wrote, a good piece will reset all these stories coming up next. But first, here's your latest traffic..

"So norlander at your player of the year ranking start with dukes I on Williamson, obviously. But number two right now, you've got grant Williams threatening us player of the year. And he got twenty three points nine rebounds in a win at South Carolina on Tuesday night and shells, Tom Hart who shouted out both Devon downing and Chester South Carolina on Tuesday nights, SEC network Braga. Tom the legend now forever, Terry Teagle, how much was that hard dropping Devon he Chester South Carolina shout out on the broadcast, Tom Hart. We hope this last think, you're listening. Thank you. If you can work went in one more time the season that'd be incredible. That was I wasn't. I had the game on, but I had the quad screen, and I didn't have the volume on that one. So I didn't hear it happened. But then obviously people it is up. And then our Kyle Boone actually captured the video and shared it. That was that was fantastic. That was that was a nice little surprise there. South carolina. Couldn't get it done against NC. Frankly, they needed Devon Downey on that floor last night. But but regardless and that was that was. Cool moment. And grant Williams continues his his strong case for player of the year. I think he has to be in anyone's top three at this moment. The game tip at five thirty central. So I was still in radio when it happens didn't hear it live either. But I started getting Twitter. It's about it instant. Moments after it happened in shelter. Cal for capturing chest Cupporter to were. Toco boom for capturing it in sitting it out into the social media world. Dave Pasch if you're listening you're now on the clock. Alarm bells shout out during an era Zona game ace Sant norlander. Grant williams. He's now averaging twenty point four point seven point, four rebounds, three point four assists. One point six blocks one point three steals in thirty one point four minutes per game for Tennessee team. That's nineteen and one ranked number one in the country. He is better. Statistically, speaking in basically, every way you measure things this season. And again, he was the SEC player of the year last season. So I don't wanna say anybody's got anything locked up in January, but I'll be shocked if he's not the SEC player of the year. Again, do give him a real chance to catch. Zion can anybody perhaps even Ethan hap- kits Zion in the player of the race? It's possible. I 'cause I don't wanna Heisman ourselves here. I feel college football media not all of them. But just a certain contention to point where when we hit mid October. It feels like a discussion point frequently maybe not annually the frequently where there's a particular player that seems like a foregone conclusion and. Then you fast forward to that. Whatever I first or second Saturday in December. And you see that in fact. No, it was it wasn't the play that we thought. So it's possible certainly possible. Because of the fact that RJ Barrett, I think would need to be on the top ten of any overall player of the year ranking list at this point. And if Zion still continues to be awesome. But RJ, you know, hits another level in terms of how much he scoring and maybe numbers trend back a little bit. They still votes from each other. Then opens the window for play grant Williams who is a parish. I'll say, this grit. William seems more of a lock to win player the air in his conference Zion. Does player the year nationally you look around at the rest of the league in even the Williams of similar to Williamson in that his own teammate, Admiral Scofield isn't lagging too far behind. I think what he is doing right now is grant Williams. What what he is doing is is so impressive. Tennessee is so good. And yes, I still gonna take another loss two maybe three before we get to the SEC tournament. But still I he's got a stranglehold on that you mentioned eastern hap-. He leads the courtroom. Port in that. Ethan hasn't been discussed as a player of the year candidate to this point. Maybe inside the borders that fame cheese state over there in the great midwest in our shouts to everyone. Listening to this podcast, enduring insanely, cold weather in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota wind chills approaching negative fifty and sixty degrees..

"We'll get to that. In just a second sonata show. Demarco for hanging out on ESPN LA Saddana show here on ESPN LA DeMarco bar hanging out or Las key was great. Thanks, dan. Or Lasky for joining us there. That's a great point sports is not easily consumable anymore. So we were talking during the break who asked me if I watch college basketball, and I said, I really don't get into it until after the Super Bowl fair right now we were watching I on last night. He was on the TV while we were in studio, and I've watched some of his games because mostly because my world on television outside of around the horn, the jump my the NBA games that I do all that stuff. That's my world. Right. So I'll watch Zion because he's going to be the number one pick the drag course, and I'll. Watch kids will probably go on the lottery a couple times. I want to see this kid at USC who might be a lottery pick at some point list basketball player much it. Okay. But I don't actually watch like legit college basketball until February fair enough. Yeah. I mean, look you got too much to do to follow college basketball all the way through right? And it's not like even division one football where there's one hundred and thirty teams in college basketball division, one is three hundred teen. So it's really hard to follow. It the other night though. I will I will say this the other night, I was watching UCLA versus I wanna say Arezzo Anna or you just happened to stumbled upon because there was nothing else on it was kinda late. And I saw the Bill Walton and Dave Pasch redoing the game, and they are legit. So it's fantastic television. Yeah. Yeah. And I work with passion, the NBA. So I know like it could be a challenge for him. And I'm not saying that a bad way. But just working with Bill is tough to get a worded. But you have to watch. You can't not watch with you. So I watch that's actually the first game that I watched that didn't involve a lottery pick. Well. Okay. Fair enough show told him it's coming. That's why I watch college basketball, Charles, Berkeley. So I was watching a woman. I it's time to let people know what's going on in the world. Let's go. It's time for what's.

Name has come up with you like to see somebody like Fred who said success? I only one level. I only know Fred Herschel don't know in professional that. "And streaming live at PNB dot com. You're gonna have some fun going to USF and just a couple of minutes to talk about their big win last night. Over the Saint Mary's Gaels boylston Saint Mary's. You know, they went from being the darling around here for years and years and years and years and years, they gotta be like, wait a minute. You're stealing our darling mantle to watch out for USF. And there's still a lot of work to be done, but all signs of Corning in a positive direction number. I wanna ask you this free USF that is you famously used to host that WCTC banquet or the dinner or whatever you come back with those great stories like what what does that still happen? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was the Olympic club college basketball tip off. We just did it in October. You did all anything any Randy benefits, the dis the godfather right led him bat last, and he roasts everybody, and he's got he's kinda, you know, generally acknowledged the best coach in the room because you look at all those programs and their cow. You know, they're in a tough time right now cows in quote unquote transition Stanford with Jared, Jared has is trying to find it. But they got rolled by Murray. Artaud in the Bruins last night. USF beat them to USF Pete Stanford. Right. And then you look at you know, Santa Clara actually herbs can Santa Clara are a little bit of a story this year they've kind of come out of nowhere. They're playing decent. But really every program in there was looked up to Saint Mary's. He's Randy Bennis done the best. So he's you know in and catches that Kyle Smith was his assistant for years, and then Kyle Smith went on to become the head coach at Columbia University in New York did pretty well there, actually will you know. Well, and then you know, they hired him to be the the heady Ivy league guy who apprenticed under Randy Bennett to run those discipline offenses, and he came in the first couple of years. They didn't listen get. They I think they had like twenty one wins couple years, but it was like kind of hate to say this, but a soft twenty eight say it's getting those winds, but you also need the signature wins. And you need big wins at the end of last year quietly. They beat Saint Mary's at on the hilltop. Yeah. And that was it kind of like a little indication. Now, they'd beating them two times in a row, which has not happened since two. That's significant. Yeah. So so in other words, and then when they started this year, and then they launched a couple of nice wins early this year, you're killing what's going on here. Right. And the only thing they lost it lost the buffalo who's a top twenty team. And unless if that's okay to check with you about buffalo top twenty after the Branson incident. Oh, no. As far as I'm concerned. Now, we'll. Yes. The incidents he tried to rattle Branson mishap. I gotta walk the streets up there over my shoulder. Now one in the morning now Branson Branson out kicking them out. Yeah. So anyway. Point being is that all of a sudden they're legit now. Can they get into the tournament without winning the WCC? I don't know about that. Because you know, the schedules strength is always haunts these teams Randy Bennett as we know is haunted by not scheduling strong enough. Yes. Miami Florida get into tournament ready Bennett. See so schedule where they're gonna have to do is either beat Gonzaga, which you know. So that would be bonkers that's going to be a tough game seems like a very tall order or win the WCC tournament, which is another tall order. It'd be tough to see USF have a year like this and then wind up in the United, but it could very well happen because right now their best win is we? I guess last night last night or Stanford. I guess Stanford or Cal to I think Saint Mary's RPI though is higher than than Stanford. Make yourself useful instead of just admiring yourself. And you Stephen Jackson jacket. You really got him not time you really really affected by that. Hey, why don't we wait for? Kyle Smith call in and don't forget Friday football forecast nine thirty mom forecast was in. No, maybe we should just replay seriously. But in college basketball coach we had some sound from last night UCLA played Stanford and Bill Walton was on the call. And this is of course, the Bruins are in the national spotlight because they fired Steve Alford which is much needed after all these years. And the question is who they're going to hire. Now, they have an interim guy Murry Bartow. We talked about the first name Murray. How unusual it is? And the fact that these gene Bartos kit, and yet they looked great last night for one night, man. They looked free and easy. Looks sharp. Focus the whole deal. It's like get that Griffith, Indiana drifter out and all of a sudden they maximize their talent. But they're still looking for a head coach Dave Pasch asked Walton in your Bruin who should be the coach. What.

"Back. Murph and MAC on. By the way. Other things that happened last night the. Women lost their first regular season basketball game in more than four years. So just. Are they getting Yukon sports talk radio getting bombarded with you know, they're the Auras gone. The fatigue is set in Jesus thing known as you can't sports upgrading. I'm kidding. Hey before we get to the NFL playoffs. Did you guys? See Bill Walton on the call last night in positively and by the way. Dude. Are we were waiting for was the magic of Murray? Dude Murry Bartow who needs her kid Murray. It's like a nineteen twenties Jewish neighborhood in New York City. You name it kid Murray. Murph give it up for Murray the cop on the odd couple. Well, there you go the cop with knows Aldo Vecchio, by the way on the on the TV show, but an f Murray Abraham as a celery and Amadeus. We can throw that one either. Neither Murray's he guy. Well, I got Eddie Murray. But that was his last name there you go. So anyway. Yeah. Murray Jamal Murray, he's a nugget since we're trying. Problem for comedy. And then cope took it. Too far. The whole key is the first name Murray trash that whole joke. Excuse me. Guy. You gotta meet at a deli who you mean the deli meat in Murray Murray. Yes. Xactly? I think there's probably a lot of Murray's in Staten Island. Speaking of which isn't Staten Island, more Italian. Yeah. I well. Yeah. I although I shouldn't claim to have a lot of thought now on knowledge, I really don't that's the borough. Like, nobody goes to unless you're born there. You know, from there is Davidson Saturday Night Live, really. Yeah. And Frankie Keno former Oakland day. Great call now, a batting coach for somebody. Who is it? He's hitting coach Indiana in MLB. But anyway, Murry Bartow is the man who stepped in for Steve Alford. And look what happened. He played free. They played easy. They played. Well, they ran Stanford out of the gym and Murray Bartell the interim head coach UCLA, I I'm gonna make this call right now. He's got a real chance to do something. Steve Alford never even sniffed, and that's win a conference time because the pack twelve is so down right now and UCLA has enough talent to do it. Yeah. Dude in Murray Bartlett would be the ultimate blank win the Pac twelve conference. How long's it? Honestly. How long's it been since you've got call in one in his last year? They fired him. What year was thirteen thirteen. You want it? And they fired him. Yeah. You're out. Yeah. Yeah. They did. And he took like a kind of trolling picture of him in the team holding the Pac ten banner on the day gonna raise the play that Gordon that sound worst coach coach UCLA. I still have UCLA. I got this one right here. UCLA anyway, great to see Murray. Welcome Murray to the man, gene, Bartow, legendary coaches succeeded. Jim racking, my brains further Murray's, I'm trying not many now if I have on I'll let you know. All right. There's no Murray's. In the NFL playoffs, but they start. I wanted to hit the Walton thing. Yes. I wanted to get back to that Walton last night in his pure Walton forum, Dave Pasch says among other things Walton called the loss to liberty a stain on the university that will never be removed said so and then pass his old buddy asked him. You know, hey, you're the you're the Bruin expert here who should the next coach at UCLA. What do you think.

"Twenty-one three the score is we are ready for the start of the second apple Hieaux state leading Washington. Let's get it back out to Pasadena once again with Tom Louisville on the sideline and alongside Greg McElroy. Here's Dave Pasch and time for our second half adjustments. Brought to you by Mercedes Benz vans built for you. The all new sprinter built in the USA. What do you do if you're Washington? How do you slow down Dwayne Haskins and the Ohio State offense three touchdown passes? The three different receivers. Now fifty on the year for Haskins. Yeah. Well, it really starts with their offense. Getting off to a really good start here in the second half. They really put their defense at a disadvantage by throwing the ball three straight times in a two minute opportunity which gave Dwayne Haskins the football back at there. Our own forty five yard line minute later. They're right down the field and they extend their lead from eleven to eighteen which is a gut punch right before the second half. So it starts with their offense getting off to a really fast start here in the second half. But defensively they have to figure out a way to create some misdirection with where Dwayne Haskins is looking Dwayne Haskins. Right now has everything that he's possibly wanted in one on one coverage. He's created and extending, but they need to show one coverage and then adjust late because right now every Sunday done that Dwayne Haskins is known where to go with the football and has had an answer. And a counter thing they've thrown at, you know, Greg really for Washington offensively their best way of dealing with Dwayne Hoskin is vice sustaining drives they have not been able to sustain drive. They've not been able to maintain possession of a football. And as long as Ohio State continues to shut them down on offense. How state doesn't turn the ball over? Then this is going to be tough sledding for two quarter. Does here for Washington. Tom Ohio State with two hundred seventy two yards of offense. Washington gave up three two during the season. So the buckeyes to your point at eight on turn it over hard to imagine Washington. Stopping Ohio State having any opportunity to win this game. Twenty one three buckeyes. With a field completely shaded most of the stands as well. As the temperature dropping here at Pasadena the kickoff left to right spirit caught at the eight yard line by McGrew. So Washington we'll start out as twenty-five, and you would have to think that the huskies after at least get a few first downs here to flip the field. Can't go three and out out of intermission against Ohio State defense against get the ball. Right. Back to ask. Yeah. They have to get this running game going, and if you look at miles Gaskin so far he's only got twenty four carries her twenty four rushing yards on seven carries. And they really have involved Simone off met in the opposite plan whatsoever said start featuring those guys generate some ground attack. They're going to go out of the I formation didn't see this a lot in the first half. And they run the ball the Gaskin off the right side. He's dropped at the twenty nine. But that is a four yard run Balik Harrison on the stop. They went out of the I formation with two bags that time. It'll be second and six and this is what I would anticipate for Washington here at the second half try to get the ground game going downhill rushing attack and try to feature their best playmakers. I mean over the last four years miles gasket has been they're belco. Feature him and try to involve him in the plan. Shotgun snap Browning. And they give it to gasket off. The left side crosses the thirty up to the thirty two. They ran off met in motion that time had fake the jet. Sweep to him comes up short of the first down Gaskin does it'll be third down into. It's gonna be tough for Washington. You just win one on one at the point of attack. So if they're going to attempt to get to the I formation run between the tackles, you got to expect to your point Greg that the play action passing game which Jake Browning has been so good at throughout his career. Somebody's gonna have to create some separation one on one downfield in win the individual matchup for Washington urban Meyer might call timeout. He's thinking about it right next to the official third down to the thirty three yard line. Biles gas could take a direct snap running. Right. And it gets the first out of the thirty seven yard line. That's why coach Meyer was thinking about the time out as he saw no quarterback in the direct snap going to gasket as the huskies. Moved the chain. It's twenty one three state thirteen and a half to go in the third. Just amazing what a workout or smiles gaskets bit over the course of his career. He's now six carries. Or catches away from a thousand career touches not a big guy. So it's impressive. When you consider the workload is handled. Third all time in the Pac twelve history in rushing. And he gets a big gain off the left side here on first down up to midfield picking up thirteen yards miles Gaskin four straight one thousand yard seasons. Number ten to do that in the history of FBI said he puts the ball out to midfield. And a lot of what Washington wants to do their like what Tom said, you can't just go right at the point of attack. You have to bring guys across the football. You have to have some counter action. They had a little bit right there. And it was a nice game for the huskies. Pistol four Beijing for Browning. He's got gasket about three yards behind him. I down at the fifty yard line moving, right. Till out. Snap the Browning Iran gasket against straight ahead as Scott running at the forty five forty down to the thirty five yard line data fourteen or fifteen time per Gaskin. They have run the ball here to start the third quarter. And they moved it into Buckeye territory with twelve and a half to go on the third, and that's what they have to do. I mean, you can't expect Jake Browning to just carve up Ohio state's defense the first happy at twenty five passing attempts. Ben, they just didn't really try to emphasize the Rodney they abandoned it too early. They need to really lean heavily on those running backs. Throughout the course of the second half. I out of thirty six they run it again med off left tackle down to about the thirty two picking up four yards. Twenty one three dream aunt Jones on the stop buckeyes lead. Twelve minutes to go on the third McGregor. It's clear. The message was sent in the locker room to the Washington offensive line that we are going to lean heavily on you. And we are expecting you to produce when we run the football. And you know, what we may run for we may run for one. And then we're going to keep running it. So it's on you guys run at six straight for forty three yards. So far in the strive Browning pistol with med behind him too tight ends to the right second and six on the thirty two snap. The brownie gonna throw for the first time in trouble and sacks by four buckeyes led by Jay, Sean Cornell back at the thirty nine yard line. So that's a loss on the play of seven yards. And it puts the huskies third and long doubt twenty one three early in the third. Yeah. They've had a miscommunication on the left side of their offense of line Cornell. Just ran right between trae atoms and Wotton. Berg the left guard. And he brought down Jake Browning without anybody really putting a hand on him whatsoever. Shot goats Sudhir for growling two receivers left to right third thirteen at the thirty nine snapped Browning. They run the ball. And it's going to be a loss of the play. That left side devan Hamilton in the backfield drags down the running back for a six yard loss. It was ach med as the huskies go backwards and now have to punt on fourth and seventeenth that drive at one point was six plays and forty three yards. They're going to punt it away with it being eight plays in thirty two yards. All because they abandoned the run game when they didn't have to. They ran the ball with effectiveness. Why get away from it on the seventh play and end up with a sack. Here's the punt to k j hill and overran over hills head and into the end zone for a touchback. So it was bad enough. They went backwards on consecutive plays. But then a punt goes into the end zone. So it's only a net of twenty three yards with ten twenty five to go in the third quarter. Eight is twenty one three Ohio State. This is the Rose Bowl game presented by northwestern mutual ESPN radio and the ESPN app. KNB are six eighty. Liberty Mutual insurance knows you're focusing on the road right now. So we'll just describe our newspaper print out to you. It's a tiny square that's colored.
