"W S N Dave Michaels, the producer of news anchor, guest host, Matt Kittel, also the executive director of Empower Wisconsin, guest host on the radio station, and Gregory John, gluing this all together. He's the producer of the J. Weber Show and sort of our heads, social media guy. Here at W I s n Um What leverage. Matt? Does the Taliban have Given that they now have US citizens and US military technology in their possession in their country, and also comment on the second thing is an aside all this This bunk? Yeah, we thought of every contingency. If you thought of every contingency you wouldn't have left $85 billion, with the military equipment, functional military equipment on the ground in Afghanistan, So anyway, met talk a little bit about the leverage that the Taliban has in the in real time. Yeah. What leverage do they have? They have all the leverage. There is nothing that the United States can do at this point about anything unless it wants to recommit itself to the next 20 years of the war in Afghanistan. That's the only way they're going to be able to stop this and we have this under control. All I'm reminded of is the scene from Animal House where Kevin Bacon is standing in his military out well, Exactly that is the Joe Biden administration. That is what the United States looks like to the rest of the world. It is amazing to me how quickly and again I I said on the radio last week week before That Biden's got two years left. It seems like he's been in office. It's barely been nine months. Yes, it's amazing how quickly he is absolutely replicated the Jimmy Carter presidency. There is massive inflation, their gas shortages. There's there's employment stagnation. And now a country that hates America has American citizens. 52 people were held by the Iranians, and it ended the Carter administration. There are 15 months worth 203 100 Americans, including if the reports from last week are correct. Elementary school kids, and they shall be aware, but this is the thing is that it is amazing to me one just how he couldn't be more Jimmy Carter if he tried But to look at the difference. You know, Carter was run out of the White House on a rail. And yet because of something something, Donald Trump, you still have most of the big newsrooms in this country. Defending the way that Joe Biden has handled it is it is one of the you said it it is. This is the worst presidency I have ever seen in my years on this earth. Well, it's hollow, and it's because the guy that's at the top of the pyramid is somebody that doesn't have the cognitive ability to, you know, for the job to continue to to be able to make decisions and lead properly and we'll get to that in a later segment with regard to, uh to Biden. Dave. What are America's enemies thinking these days after after, after witnessing this this process for the last three or four weeks? We're seeing that answer. Uh, China hasn't moved in on Taiwan yet. They will very soon the Raptors are firing up in North Korea. Russia's laughing their ass off it. Thank you, American citizens for doing us a solid and our allies are shaking their heads going. Well, we we had beef tannin. And now you gave us not Marty McFly. But George Muk flies in the White House and Greg. I think it's even worse than that. I think that with regard to our put this in airports are friends around the world are going to sort of cease to be our friends because we're not proving to be a very good, reliable friend. So why be allied with someone who's gonna know he's going to trust us anymore? After that? What? What we've done in in Afghanistan. I mean, to see the all those the Afghani military wearing uniforms, American uniforms and seeing all videos all over the social media Now, I mean, the propaganda is unbelievable. And in the helicopter flying help. Well, they're flying helicopters. Now. Those are our helicopters. Well, and we left a little bunch of one behind. I mean, it's almost 100. Total total. Speaking of the helicopters, order of wing aircraft, Yes, that there was that video last week of the guy. They thought that he was hanging up and then everybody's no, he wasn't really. Hanging. He was he was in the hardest, and he was putting up on an Afghan, a Taliban flag and some post or something like that. What? I'll be filming a movie over but this is impossible. Nine. So all I had posted that in all of my lefty friends were all all over me like, Well, that's not real. He's in a harness. I go. You're missing the picture. He's flying. The Taliban is flying in $8 million Blackhawk over Kabul. That's what you should be there. That's focusing hand. It's quite amazing. They tried to write office observed. It's a circus act. It's a high wire act. This is this is part of the problem just part of the problem with modern day Liberals monitor progress is they think that if you talk about it, and if you say the right things, then you've done something about it, and you know, as as we're scrambling to get our people out is where is becoming clear that we have turned the Taliban into one of the most modern fighting forces in that entire region, For sure, they're issuing statements about making sure that girls and Afghan women can go to work. This is this is why our allies. This is why our enemies are laughing at us. It's not just that we lost to a bunch of people who can't read. They don't have enough people to fly the helicopters that we gave them. It is that while the world is burning down the Biden administration and the people who defend the Biden administration it being on Facebook here in Wisconsin or in the pages of the New York Times their focus on something completely different that it used to be hate. We win the war or we lose the war. Now it's well, I mean, yeah, we were always going to lose, but what's important is no. What's important. Is that we win the war No one is going to take this country seriously. This is how we got to 9 11. The Taliban. Fitting out the Taliban. Al Qaeda figured that they could blow up a bit. They tried the World Trade Center and they hit the boat. And then there was no response, Bill Clinton fired one cruise missile. Yet we just gave these people and the entire air force and and and half of of their armies weapons. And what are we going to do? And we're apologizing for and now we're going to pay them to continue to be nice. There were three incidents. There was the the bombing of the basement, the parking structure at the World Trade Center in 93. There was, you know, the rest of the world watched Somalia to Robert Black Hawk down. That was a Clinton thing. Didn't you fire some missile under the desert or blow up an aspirin factory or something like that? And then there was the USS Cole, which is, I think was 98. None of it got a response from militarily at any level of significance from the U..

"So you really as a investor you fall back on reporting it to law enforcement whether it's federal law enforcement or state law enforcement and Potentially an agency like the federal trade commission which does take complaints about These kinds of scams. So it's going to be an exercise in following the money which can be difficult in this market depending upon how sophisticated the scammer is. Your best bet is to to make those complaints for law enforcement okay. So we've heard for years from everybody from lawmakers to federal reserve officials to the current head of the sec. There needs to be some regulation or more control over the world of cryptocurrency. Not just to stop scams but to apply trading standards and and to ensure fairness. What's the latest on that these regulators Seem to be making more of an effort to regulate crypto than they ever have before. The chairman of the sec has appealed to the congress and said Hey i think there ought to be Some kind of regulation of the spot. Market for crypto currencies. There ought to be some sort of investor protection regime that congress authorizes a regulator to carry out. And you know the the treasury department Has also been more outspoken about trying to find a way to regulate some aspects of the crypto currency. Market there is a meeting of the president's working group on financial markets to discuss You know one segment of the crypto currency markets which are cashback stable coins and Whether there ought to be some recommendations for new authorities for the government to regulate stable coins. And what are those. What are stable coins. Stable coins are kind of cryptocurrency that substitute for national currencies. So there probably are a lot of reasons. Lee several reasons that they exist but one reason that they exist and one reason they're used is to make it easier to trade in and out of other crypto currencies on crypto exchanges. Okay so what does the cryptocurrency industry say about the of regulation by the government. I think the crypto currency industry is pretty divided on this. I mean i think there are some larger players that have adopted a lot of the policies and procedures of wall street who acknowledged that some kind of regulation is coming. I think they'd like to shape it. And i think that they don't want it to be quite like the regulation of securities or derivatives today. And then there are other segments of this market that they don't want any regulation at all they think it's incompatible with the purpose and the values of this market and you know the the the question is which of those views is going to prevail because eventually the market is going to have to give some constructive input to the government on how to move forward. All right that's wsj reporter. Dave michaels dave. Thanks for coming on the show. Yeah thanks very much match. Money briefing. Im jr waylon for the wall street journal.

"Dance off. I'm Dave Michaels. Now that we have a better understanding and what critical race theory is, and the real reason why the left and their allies and the teachers union specifically I want to be clear, not all teachers believe in nor are teaching critical race theory. But when the two largest teachers unions in the nation's say that CRT needs to be taught in schools as history Not just parents, but Americans. They need to put a stop to this America hating anti reality idea. How It seems obvious but apparently still needs to be said. Don't be bullied. Either the media or on social media or anyone in your inner circle into thinking your racist When you know you're not and don't fall for the left talking point. CRT is nothing more than teaching kids about history. Bologna sausage in bubble gum. My second grade teacher, Mrs Fry. She used to say that instead of ball, you know the rest At the time, I thought, Oh, that's cool. My second grade teacher is swearing without swearing. But then I As I got older, I realized why is she saying that so often to a bunch of second graders? Mrs Fry? God love her. Robert Wood Elementary School, and, uh, and Franklin Bologna. Sausage of Bubble gum. Is that wrong? That the only thing I remember from second grade is that my teachers have bologna sausage and bubble gum. I remember the books we read. We read like the Lord Ingalls Wilder books and Always going Brady and the was it Bridey in or on the Grand Canyon. It wasn't really intently. Second grade. My kid. My oldest is going into second grade next year. I'm going. These are some This isn't exactly Dr Seuss here, that's for sure. Wait. No, you can't teach Dr Seuss. Never mind anyway. Mrs Fried bologna sausage in bubble gum. Absolutely no serious or influential person who is criticizing. CRT is saying that we should ban discussions of racism in our country's history, because, yes, It is a part of our history. But that's we're CRT doesn't stop. The purpose of CRT is to teach people that America has always been and always will be a racist nation built on racist institutions upheld by racist people. And it's being taught to Children in the schools that we, the taxpayers fund. Which brings me to a story from the Cap times in Madison. Group of Wisconsin Republicans is proposing a bill aimed at making school district curricula more transparent at a time when what's being taught in the classroom has become a political talking point. Republican legislators are circulating the bill, which would require districts to publish lists of materials used in classrooms. One of the reasons this is important Because, as the article later points out, even before CRT a lot of parents will get wind of topics or curriculum from their kids that they believe just didn't belong in a public school. So after filing an open records request to see with their own eyes, what was being taught in the classroom. Some school districts would then stall install an effort not to turn it over. Report also pointed to the difficulty in accessing chorus materials via open records requests, citing expensive costs from certain districts to receive requests. Materials, including this is incredible. More than $5000 from the Madison metropolitan School District, and more than $1000 from the Kenosha Unified School District. What a load of gar bowler These school districts knowing full well that most parents can't afford five grand to get access to these lesson plans via an open record open records request even though most of them already or digital Look, it shouldn't take Carol more than 30 seconds at the front desk to get the attachment of the requested lesson plan from the teacher, then forward an email. $5000 to get this work done. Are you nuts? So these schools basically are insulting these parents intelligence by trying, in essence to throughout the clock. So while yes, it's encouraging that Republicans like state Senator Duey Stroebel, who is sponsoring the bill are taking action. It's got to go through the legislative process and, of course, would likely be feet owed by Evers if it reaches his desk. So now what, if anything, can we do now? There's been more and more talking conservative circles, especially the last couple of weeks. Of placing cameras in the classroom. One of the most influential voices floating this idea is Fox News, Tucker Carlson. He said in his program, Quote. We can't really be sure until we finally get cameras in the classroom as we put them on the chests of police officers. Until we finally get a civilian review board in every town in America to oversee the people teaching your kids forming their minds and let's hope we get both of those very soon, But until we do, we can't know exactly how widespread it is..

They were not 20,000 people in the dear district, and I'm not just talking about last night when the rain and the threat of more storms was prevalent a lot of people yes. Lot of people I was in the area I think was before Game three against the Nets. It took me a good 20 minutes just to go east on Juno from State Street to Old world Third. That's one block 20 minutes. There were that many people walking around getting ready for the game, but to say 20,000 people in a block and a half as little Circus parade esque, don't you think? 907. I'm Dave Michaels in for Dan O Donnell. This is the Daniel Donald show. Remember, we get those ridiculous numbers. I was talking with Doug Russell, who was producing the show today. Three quarters of a million people are in downtown Milwaukee. The entire metro areas about six of another. The city of Milwaukee itself is 600,000 people. That math never made sense back then, and it sure as heck doesn't make sense now, so while visually the dear district looks great on TV, it's awesome to see so many bars in the area, get some much needed business or not. I'm guessing if the Bucks do win Game five in Phoenix. The tickets would be even higher. Can you imagine? Possibility of clinching the NBA Finals on your home court. That's what would happen if the Bucks win Saturday night Game six, of course, which there will be no matter what in Milwaukee standing room only will be it'll probably more expensive than 500 bucks a pop, but this would help $1000 If and when you text the word smile s m I l e. State revenues over the next three years are projected to be much higher than previously thought. An additional $4.4 billion could mean tax cuts, reduced borrowing and increased funding for K 12 schools or other programs. This is something that Congressman Tiffany Night talked about. A few minutes ago, but I want to spend some extra time with this topic specifically. This $1.9 trillion spending plan under the umbrella of covert relief. As it stands right now, the package would provide an additional $1400 in direct payments per person. Now, remember, this is on top of these $600 checks. A lot of Americans, including kids. Got in December. Also include age for rental assistance and food stamps. And it also prop up some unemployment benefits as well through this fall, and yes, give even more money to both local and state governments. Sorry. I know this in a popular question, but it begs asking, How is this going to be paid for? Gonna fire up the printing presses, which shouldn't need that long of a time to warm up since they've been used a lot lately. The government will typically use as justification for federal borrowing that they're just trying to prevent the collapse of the economy. Right Without stimulus. We're gonna have a repeat of the great Depression and bread lines stretching from New Berlin to Fitchburg. In my view, the biggest problem right now in the U. S economy isn't demand its supply. Most Americans do have money, Maybe not a lot. But there is something in their piggy bank. They're just constraint on how to spend it because of pandemic related businesses and restrictions, all shutting things down. And for those people who want more stimulus and yes, I do include some Republicans in that crew. They say that hardworking Americans deserve a bigger check. But that misses the point of stimulus. By definition, A lot of hard working Americans have a paycheck. In fact, wages and salaries are are just a tick lower than where they were the end of 2020. For the pandemic. And thanks to pass stimulus total income. This is really important total income. Was actually 2% higher. It's gonna be even higher. Biden gets this through with without the votes from Republicans in the Senate. Yes, yes, The economy is in bad shape. Not to nine. This there. Unfortunately, almost 10 million people not working right now than last February. But travel and hospitality. That's what accounts for almost a third of those numbers and those jobs. They're probably not going to come back. Until most of the population gets vaccinated. And most of the unemployed people that are out of work right now is overwhelmingly the result of people who lost work because of the pandemic. Employer shut down or downsized. Or maybe they had to stay at home because the kids weren't able to go to in personal learning at school, so they had to virtually learning. They just couldn't go back to work. Or maybe they got sick. And couldn't work. But the best way The best way and less expensive way to kick start. The economy is not just printing more money. You should take the handcuffs off the economy. Sending people money just Does not address the actual issue. Especially since very little. Of the proposal would actually go to the people who need the money. The most. This was Carl rolled. This is really important and interesting, a lot of numbers going flying around here, but it puts into perspective. Not only how much money is being proposed on top of the money that's already gone into the hands of many businesses and people, but where it's specifically going since March of last year through December, we have as a country appropriated at the federal level $3.6 trillion Spend uncovered relief that the vibes administration's proposals Dad 1.9, so a total of $5.5 trillion that we would have appropriated in less than 12 months. By comparison, the entire federal budget paying for defense for the national parks for Medicare, Medicaid you name it in 20 in F. White 19 was $4.4 trillion less and less than where we were proposed to be spending on. On covert relief unless it a year now. What about the new bill? Well, there's $380 billion for what's called the top off. We've given people a $600 check. You can get it. If you're up to $300,000 in income, and now we're going to give you $1400 more now what we know about this is it's that last year when we gave people big checks Over 85% of them said they used that money to pay down a dead or put in their savings account not to spend stimulating the economy. Think about that for a second. Previous two rounds of stimulus 85 per cent of that money either paid off a credit card. Or sat in the bank. Doesn't stimulate anything. There's no stimulus there. The point of this money is to go out to eat travel. Buy a new TV. My new snowblower. Put some ice down the else Lie smelter you get from your local hardware store. That's what stimulates the economy. My Uh, yeah, but I had some car issues like took it into the shop that stimulates the economy. Pays for wages. Americans aren't doing that with the prior to stimulus bills. Why would there be any indication that that would change with this new form of stimulus? Rolf continues so but now we're going to give people up to $300,000. You know, this is not letting Look you've suffered. You've lost your job. If you've lost your job, you've got unemployment insurance. Payments will not just get everybody up to $300,000 with a lot of kids a check $350,000 to state local governments. We gave them money last year. What happened? They didn't.

Dave Michaels $600 Fitchburg December 2 New Berlin $350,000 $4.4 trillion Tiffany Night $380 billion $5.5 trillion $1400 $1.9 trillion 2% Biden F. White 19 last February Rolf $3.6 trillion last year

"The radio station, along with Benyon, our news director Dave Michaels, who's down dollars producer and news anchor and guest host and all the other functions that Dave has Gregory John produces J. Webber's show, also our social media director, and Matt Kittle Frequently guest host programs on the radio station. Matt is the executive director off empower with Scotts and Greg. I think that the position of social media right now is really interesting. I'm talking about the regulatory situation is much as anything else with regard to Um, the way the person not just the perception, but the reality of how left leaning it wasn't home how heavy the thumb was on the scale during the election cycle that there's a lot of impetus to have regulation be hoisted upon these these folks, do we see that happening? Do we see people not trusting social media to the point where they might be inclined not to use it as much? Well, you know, it's Where did you bring that up is I'm sure the left does not want all that regulation, which is probably why you don't want to do not want That, um, assed far as me. I don't kind of want that either. I want us to have a free and open discussion. Unfortunately, Twitter, of course, had leans a little towards the left. And they did. They did, you know, throttle down a lot of our posts. We other concerns. Servant of side so I don't know. What I don't understand, Matt is that so There's a lot of people on our side of the political ledger that bitch and whine and moan about the unfairness and the and the left leaning bias of social media. Yet they continue to use it and give the outlets exactly what they want, which is all their data and their time and their cliques and everything else. Human nature. I mean, if you really want to kill it, walk away that's like it goes for any show on television. Don't like the show walk away. But you know the scale of Facebook and the scale of Twitter and all of these Very left leaning and information controlling sites is to manage, so there's a logistical problem, but I think you're seeing the revolution on. I think that brings up the topic of power. And some of these other sites that don't practice politics don't have a liberal agenda or a liberal stance in disseminating information or deciding who gets control of information in this country. And what you saw late in 2020 was really remarkable. It'll be interesting to see if that continues moving forward. That's really ultimately what conservatives free market conservatives want. As opposed to regulation, one side or another, this site or another. Open it up, but you also have to Let everybody compete on a level playing field and right now Facebook and Twitter and Google and the rest are not competing on a fair playing field, and that's the real concern. Conservatives, particularly in Washington, D C. So David Wood met, saying is that this is some kind of anti trust issue where there's two fuel entities dominating too much market share. Is that ultimately going to break up Twitter break up you were you have, like, like the old Bell telephone system was in the 19 seventies. I hope not because I do believe the free market has an opportunity to let itself play out. Maybe a guy who used to be president in a few weeks might get into the news media business and something that I know it's been discussed Part of the undoing of what's going to happen with some of these entities. Google Twitter. Facebook is again knowing what their biases just like. We know what MSNBC's biases and NBC's biases. People are still gonna watch. People shouldn't use these forms of social media, but they're not going to trust them. For what the news they're trying to deliver. And when they are able to sense or some of these entities like The New York Post forever in the Hunter Biden story, it becomes a bigger story than what would have been if they just would have let it go on there in the first place. Yeah, I think there's some truth to that. Ben. I was like to try to figure out why something's happening. Here that the two givens Social media does not want to be regulated by the federal government, right? You mean they tried to Jack Dorsey that beard every once in a while. That's why five years zoom and that's what he says. That's why they spend so much on lobbyists. Well, that's that's true, but if they don't want to be regulated, then why would they go out of their way to show a parent demontre of bias in the way that they're handling political conversation? Because they wanted to get Joe Biden elected S O. I mean, isn't that survey A catch 22 sort of thing. If if they go through this process, too, too much of an extent, they're going to invite me regulated No, because Joe Biden will protect him. Joe Biden will protect him until Joe Biden either croaks and leaves office That could be 18 months from Listen. The battle in this country is not our versus D. It's not conservative versus liberal. It's big government versus the rest of us. And Twitter and Facebook and the tech giants they have bought into big government. Do you really think Susan Collins is going to drop the hammer? Do you really think that this squish Republicans who populate most of the U. S Senate arguments come out? And Josh Holly, Ron Johnson and Rand Paul right? That that that's about the reform Caucus? Yeah. Ted Cruz. I mean, you got you got a couple, but you don't say Romney's gonna stand Theo. He's gonna stand on his milk cream preach down into people Listen there, too. We have to solve for X here. What is it that we want done with social media? Do we want to end the liberal bias? Or do you want there to be competition? Because those are two separate questions, and those are two separate answers. The bias isn't going to go away. It's based in in San Francisco, Jason Whitlock, who now is it out kick, which I suggest people read. He coined the term San Francisco values years ago. San Francisco values are vastly different than liberal values in the middle of the country even different than liberal values in New York City, San Francisco values will drive the politics of social media until something opens up in Texas. But the other thing is okay. So let's take the Ma bell example. What we gonna have regional twitters. We're gonna have Facebook of the Southwest and Chicago. It doesn't work like that. I signed up for parlor. I was really excited. I went on there. I created my account and the thing's a mess. Can't find anybody right? I get 400,000 updates from Devin Nunes every day, but I can't find Gregory John. Listen Parlors great was intentional. Fox News in the beginning was beating talent and kind of, but they grew over the years to become an actual news source. And now their prime time programming, Tucker Carlson must watch television. Parlor. And whatever the conservative Facebook is, whatever the conservative snapped. All of this stuff needs to be better people. Well, but it is going on the stage. You just made the case. You mean when Fox and started you're right. It was B level talent. And now now, uh, Fox is getting criticized Dave. Bye bye, some more conservative types as being a little bit too squishy, and that's creating, you know, in avenue or an environment where, like a newsmax can succeed and suddenly They're getting, you know millions of viewers What happens when you try to make everybody happy? You don't make anybody happy. Fox tried toe pivot to the left a little bit, and that given opening for Newsmax away, And it's another network that never mind the election. They had record ratings because there's a lot of people that were quite honestly disgusted with what some of the product that Fox News is putting out. Coincidently enough Watch box was quite a bit I've noticed in the last three or four weeks, they have slowly pivoted back to the right. Not every shown on every newscast, but a lot of the stories that we Seen before they were just blatantly obvious..

SEC Investigates Kodak's Federal Loan, Stock Surge

"Last week, Kodak announced, it had secured a seven hundred, sixty five, million dollar loan from the Federal Government under the Defense Production Act to shift gears for making photo supplies to drug ingredients. Now, we've learned that the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating the deal joining me now with more details is Wall Street Journal reporter Dave, Michaels? So Dave Codex shares surged after news about this loan broke, and that got the attention of the Securities and Exchange Commission. What can you tell us about what they're now looking into? Well, we understand that the SEC has opened up. An investigation they're looking at trading in the shares just before the loan announcement was officially made, and then also how the in the news about the loan was communicated to the wider market. Why is that potentially a problem that Kodak had shared news of this deal with some media outlets before making this public wouldn't be a violation of criminal law, but but it could be a violation of the regulations that apply to public companies, which they can be straightforward. They can also beat her technical, but suffice it to say that public companies have to have a lot of rigor around how they communicate. Information, that is information that is going to influence investors decisions about whether to buy a seller, hold on a shares and if the company released information. About the control loan before the initial announcement in released in a way that was. Haphazard or not well thought through and then that information. Leaked down in some form or fashion to the wide broader market people traded on it than that could be a problem for Kodak as a public company just in terms of their responsibilities in terms of how they're supposed to control the flow of material information. So what are some of the questions still surrounding this deal that our team is looking into right now including this question about the disclosure in the communication? Of the loan, we're still looking into the loan itself in Kodak is saying that. Alone details are not fully finalized and yet the announcement was made last week that it was going to be getting seven, hundred, sixty, five, million dollar loan. So announcing net to the broader market, ensure holders developed certain expectations about how that's going to change. Kodak's business. But the loan is in guaranteed is not finalized. Query whether whether it was appropriate to make make that announcement at the time. We're also looking into continue to look into some of the equity options grants that were made to executives directors in the day before the day, just before the official announcement was made. So Dave, what are the potential outcomes from an SEC investigation of this sort? What can we see come out of this and when? You know we understand this is Very early days of this, I mean after all the announcement was just made last week, so it could take. Months to learn anything from either the company or potentially in the SEC. If actually brought any sort of official claims against the company. So we won't. We won't know anytime soon, and also it's also not clear that this would result in in a in former allegations of wrongdoing SEC opens up investigations all the time they ask questions, they do the dig into something, they take testimony and they might decide you know, hey, this, this was a little weird wasn't perfect way went down, but there's not a clear regulatory violation. Yourself is just something that I think people who are interested in Kodak Interested in in this story would just have to stay tuned.
