Raptors president under investigation for allegedly shoving deputy

"Ryder. The Alameda County sheriff's office confirmed. It's investigating the raptors president of basketball operations beside you Jerry on suspicion of busy meter battery on a police officer stomach from an incident after the teams title. Lynching win sheriff's office spokesman surgeon Ray Kelly said you Jerry, shoved a deputy and ended up striking the deputy face while trying to reach the court after the game with more ESPN's Bryant win wars and sportscenter with David Lloyd, this is an unfortunate development. Masai watched the end of the game from the tunnel outside the raptors locker room on television once the game was over. He came down the tunnel and wanted to go on the court to celebrate with his team. But because it was a trophy presentation situation and because it was the visiting team winning. There was new security procedures in place and new credentials required. Now, this the standard procedure in the NBA beside did not have that credential in speaking to the sheriff's department this morning. They have said that they were asked by the NBA and arena officials to strictly enforce credential policy. The officer there who was part of an increased security presence around the court did not know who he was. And really the issue is the second contact the Cy and the office. Make contact with the officer and then made a second contact with the officer where according to the sheriff's sergeant made contact with deputies face. So he is under investigation and it's unfortunate situation. I've reached the NBA and the rafters. Both of them are do not have a comment at this time and they were doing if further investigation. So disappointing situation there, right before one of the big moments

"I that's what I always thought was was really important doing this kind of stuff because I think it's a really it's a weird time right now because know ESPN went from you know, sports being the brand. And then it was just opinion show after opinion show and then opinion shows in sports center to what feels now it's kind of like shifting away. So like some of these shows feel inherited, and I can't really keep up of what's going on direction wise and all this stuff. But it's it's always this balance of trying to figure out how am I doing the stuff? That's the most important. And then how am I doing it in a way, especially when you have the afternoon show where it's like, I don't want to do. What is this mean for Brady's legacy for the tenth time? The listener of you or seen it today that locked in ESPN person that's going. We're doing Brady legacy again today like come on. So I don't know. That's why I always wondered if they that whole concept of play the hits. And of course, the big things. But can you do no way that feels fresh and you can find other things to kind of deviate from it. That's why we saw. Was finally worked to all. Right. Listen to we got LeBron again, but toppy our listeners screw Africa or get into their minds deal. Sure. Sure. Yeah. That's the thing that that's why I always really liked working with you is that. But do you think it was fair when people would say that if you did five days a week that you would go off the rails? It might be unlistenable. No. I don't think I think listen. I I have the best gay. 'cause when you're the substitute teacher of the six man, you can just come in and let it fly. And it's like all right. It's just you know, adding unhinged. Whereas if it was five days a week, I would be a little bit more measured and think of what things are gonna work and Tara, right? Probably can't do a big flyers opening rant here. I'm not gonna get into foreign films in the seventies. In the last segment. Like, I would I would figure out the fact that yes, be yourself build a brand so to speak, but you can't be what you're doing. You're filling in if you're doing it five days a week. Would you do five days a week? David used to want the bad. Right. I know I said this to wingo. The other day, I filled it with tribute. And we he's bless you so much fun to work with like we had a good time. And I said to him 'cause he's like the hours killing him trae seriously, like these our egos. Do you have no idea? I know I know like I feel like this is tough. And he said to me, I David Lloyd this line once he said TV is more money and it's easier, but radios, more fun. The two wink when he goes, I don't think any of that state. But I don't know if if he's right about the more money thing, I don't think that's true anymore. No. 'cause if it depends on the gig. But he was doing if you're if you're a major market and you're like a morning afternoon guy, you're gonna get more money for that than reading sports highlights. Yeah. Definitely now. I mean more so now than ever. Because you know, the radio thing if you can do it, and that's a whole point in..

"To I or you just just it's just wait or life to me as apposed you've done the t is a something that you do by itself. So it's like the component one of the components. I've never done on its own. I've got done feel like dia was I'd love to die Wasco before. I went onto the MTA myself because I feel like it's important to go through that ritual of own pay your does a little bit by taking a, but the DM T one doesn't that's. I mean, some of the stories you hear about that. As and saying, yeah. But I mean, the obviously people coming back at different Patterson. But just. And good ways. Yep. Yep. I would say on the whole ritual front like Richard is everything, you know. And even me, and my wife, sometimes like if we wanna go really deep with each other like we will end this happens maybe twice a year while this year has not been even once year, we're almost at the end of the year about yes. Like, we'll just decide that we want to buy a bag of weed. Right. Right. And but we we ritualized it because we're both shamanists we recognize plant consciousness and that. Yeah. Marijuana is a healing plant starches something to sit back and get baked on life. We we work we work with the plant. So it's very much lost. You probably see that more. But a lot of people just use especially we does something to forget as opposed to help escape a he'll. Yup. Yup. Yup. Yeah. Absolutely. Ritualized that Richard is one hundred percent. And you know, we have the best six. Yeah. You say that though because she's probably less than may. May. It's like, it's you know, it's just it's all deep sea beautiful stuff, man. And the conversations we have as well like. Sometimes when we're talking. One of us will just start to get like downloads. Okay. Like just start to understand things. And then we'll just be like. Stop talking images have some silence. I'm receiving information. Right. It's like the idea that we're all intent for receiving information from the something that you're describing one hundred percent, and we don't need to exercise. Like, I mean, Jesus I was in the sun last night. Then David Lloyd obvious have been on the shamanic pass for ten years, and I'm like, very tuned into my intuition, and as I'm like as I'm. So I'm I'm like, I'm just I'm reflecting on. I was reflecting on. Issues of sexuality and like expression of sexuality and. And and desire and lusted Argies that I have with other women, not my wife, and I know my wife listen to it. And it's fine. You have these conversations home. So it's all good. So I was like important conversations to have as well with your part of it. You know, you have to pay those like this is where I think saw an article by vice one of my most heated news publications. But they published I think something like a scientist someone else someone else all came up with what the thought as I was cheating like they had primers my ever. But to me, it's as easy as whatever years a couple on to own it. You could be more. Sort of liberal than other couples, and what you consider treating is completely different from someone who is just like a normal. Like working nine ninety five every day and the weekend smash type couple, you know, those are different. But it still to you cheat. And if you cross that line, yes, it's all about the contracts, man. But again, the contracts are made through viral communication, if there's no variable communication, and people are just left expect things. Exotic. Things don't meet. That's when you start to get like bumping heads with someone when those expectations though, me which is partly why me and my wife set rituals to sit down and just really go deep with each other. Who are we do all the time? But what what popped up from last night. And the Shona was an it's just what happens being on the show path. I'm always accompanied by call it what you want the might be might seem to do for some people. But in the world of Shamanism, it would be glasses animal spirits. I mean, just I get visions of animals, right? So last night, I'm like reflecting on sexuality and. My Argies that kind of almost biological thing of one and to have multiple wives. As I was reflecting..

"Just reflecting the issues that we have in every other part of our life. It's not just sports and so it's not anywhere near being fixed. My Beckham songs I along way way to go. But I don't. I can't tell you that there's a world where people will make us equal citizens if you will, and we just want like I maybe maybe it will happen. I don't know where, but they're still this mindset about women. And I remember for so long when I used to watch ESPN I thought we would go out of their way to just like a boy, a play their game. It'd be like them. I felt like that they would act like that talk like that like you and I naturally have voices, but I remember watching women on TV trying to talk in the debate trying to be one of them. I'm like back some bowl, not my mind. That's some bowl. I'm like, you're so whoever you are, let it be a net and that's a hard thing to do. That's one of the base lessons I've ever learned. And that's always helped me be true to my career and giving me whatever success I may have had is just being and not being anybody else not imitating Sarah because she's so funny because I don't have that right there is not trying to be like Email because. As you have your own point here, he's not trying to be like Jamal because I'm being and I'm not trying to be like skipper Stephen or have their hot takes when I was on the show. I'm just being me and it it pays because I knew that people do like authenticity more than anything. They've value that more than anything. Absolutely. And that's why so much of the job is fake it till you make it. You have this incredible confidence in yourself despite not being, you know verified by anyone else. And then as you get people like bosses and peers and fans telling you who you are is something that they like it's much easier to have that confidence and and to continue to make choices that are just based on what you think makes sense for you instead of worrying about the people see it. I one thing I always have liked, and this is not about me you, but I wouldn't be. I've always liked about you like you've been always true to who you are like. All right. I don't know if you don't like something, you don't like it and you say it and then if it if it doesn't go over well, you're like, oh, coca. That's fine. Or if it works well, you own you to like there's nothing wrong with that. Like you have to unapologetic, I feel the way I grew up, there's nothing wrong with that. You have to apply in this world where everybody needs followers and likes and this, that the other. So let's talk about things that you need to do in life that are important. Let's talk about your foundation because this is a big moment for you. You're doing your sports nations show, and then you get back into sportscenter with blue David Lloyd, and you've got this Dacian going onto. So tell me about it. So excited. So my Dacian it's called Brown girls dream. Thank you so much for talking about it with me and he came out of the unnecessary that I saw a lot of girls hitting up and be like, how'd you get there to do what you do, etc. Infrasonic Sarah and I'm be like, okay, Email me. Let's talk about it. You get to. I'm sure you know. But there was just an overwhelming I every day and I was like, I can't. I can't get back to thirty bills right now. That's to happen. Like just I don't even have time for myself. So I open it only had an idea where I would take some of my friends, some of my closest friend and by Brown, I mean, a woman who is not necessarily considered at the forefront. So. Anybody can be a part of the program, but I really am spoke focusing on minorities like blacks, obviously, right engine Filipinos like the whole nine in. So the foundation is built of those women all women who are minorities in very specific roles, and they're one of a few, but they want.

"The thirty six million dollar player option on the final year of his contract with the cavaliers how about that relationship with cleveland and him potentially bolting for la la land whoa john sportscenter with david lloyd inside the cavs organization and the dynamic right now between lebron and the cavs there's no communication between lebron james himself and the cavs front office ownership now his agent talks to them and it's cordial but they have not given them any directives from prior to the draft into free agency saying hey here's a player i would like us to target our here's something i'm interested in and the cavs have wanted to get out whether was clearing cap space maybe get out free agency and go after some big players they can't have those internally they can't do those things because they don't know that they're going to keep him the word that i've used that i've heard user on that organization here not just this week but you know leaning into this is paralysis there's a paralysis because they just don't have any dialogue with him that has to be a concern for the cleveland cavaliers all right let's let's go out west a lot of chatter now the lakers becoming the front runners here and they'll bronze sweepstakes what's going on in that organization well they're trying to see if they can get a deal done with san antonio for kawhi leonard and the spurs you know they're they're open to moving him and they've come to an impasse here where if someone makes an offer that reaches a threshold san antonio has an it's a high threshold right now but it's negotiation and they can change whether it's whether it's the lakers whether it's boston philadelphia clippers have shown interest that you know playing teams have called but if they can get a deal for leonard done prior to start a free and soon you're the starter for unc it only makes the case to lebron james that much stronger about what he's walking into then obviously they've got paul george coming up here in free agency and and that's another player they've targeted and who has had a strong interest with the lakers much stronger a year ago before he got traded oklahoma city thunder have done a great job of putting themselves putting themselves in position to keep george now the cavs can offer james five year deal is worth more than two hundred million he could also do a short term deal but as wold said there's that lore although stephen a smith on sports center on the impact he's decision we'll have league wide i think it'd be very impactful from the standpoint no matter where he goes chances are outside of the los angeles lakers any other team he chooses to go to they instantly become title contenders if he would have go to boston they would be the favorites if he will to go to philadelphia they would be an odds on favor in some people's eyes if he would have go to houston they certainly be the favorite even though we can't see that happening because now that he's opted out they just don't have the pieces to bring him on board without gushing their whole team and of course if he would have golden state warriors which ain't gonna happen they would obviously it wouldn't even be fair to basketball i think i'd boycott the nba for crying out loud because it would make no sense to just watch them steamroll over everybody else but if he were to go to the lakers they would be better they would instantly elevate into being a playoff team but they certainly would it be a championship contender not over golden state and probably not over houston as well at the very best they would be considered the third best team in the western conference if that so when i look at it from l a's perspective it depends on where you go any place any of those other teams obviously championship attention the lakers is just him being in a different locale representing arguably the most storied franchises in the history of basketball so de'andre jordan like lebron opted against picking up the final year of his deal with the clippers leaving more than twenty four million on the table wold reporting it's the mavericks that are targeting him as their big free agent signing freddie coleman myron medcalf on freddie and fitz simons on whether jordan can help the mavs reach the postseason i don't think they'll be in the.
