"Grocery store in L. A. Nick. It was a while I went to this is the one I went to the most I started going to trader Joe's across the street from it. Back when I lived down on citrus six, forty, five south citrus if you wanna go and see it. I'm sure that a lot of people want to see the house I used to live down there six, forty five. South citrus lived three people. I. Did not know I found it on craigslist. FIRST YEAR IN LA and I thought Ralph's was fine and I'll say this, this is the plus side. Is that they do have a big selection of things I saw the. digiorno croissant pizza that people say is good I saw it at Ralph's I have not seen anywhere else weird specialty items are like new things you can find them at Ralph's you can they're good with that stuff? But man else just a fucking. This was a dud neck and honestly it's made me question what is what is the best you know like now I'm wondering what is the best grocery store because I thought Ralph's is GonNa Really. Change should should up on me but maybe I'm Gilson's man the most the Hoity toity re. fucking. Last restore but maybe I'M A. Gilson's is much better than fucking rouse's. That's what he twenty is good now. Maybe. L. Change then I. Think Albertson and I think when you see mich anymore. I think Albertson's is going to be my album. That's the thing is back in Quincy like stop and shop. I. Get great stuff at the Deli case. Yes. This shit sucked I think Albertson's is the one I'm going to stick with Nick after this whole experiment I think I'm just an albertsons man. But I'm going to and a half carts. Two cars one basket. This sucked. Wow. It was it was or it was fucking hole. I was expecting stop and shop to be a member of a gigantic conglomerates, but it seems like it is still its own corporation. It seems like it does not have a ownership. Does not is not owned by Albertsons Kroger or another larger grant. Yeah who I got here. You Got Wally. Cat Wally. Up to his Webcam I. Wali. So I think that that. grouse slash Kroger was my childhood grocery stores where we would go as a family. It's probably the grocery chain I have visited the most in my life. I will say this is a we've talked. We set a lot of negatives about kroger to positives. Wanted has a unionized workforce to. It has larger aisles than a lot of other chains I feel like the aisles are pretty wide and I. Find Store is a good point more comfortable to navigate versus like an albertsons where where things are often times pretty compact. So that is that is a check mark in its favor. I think that they're store bad. Of course, girth is a fucking our you give points for girth. Store brands are bad. Their store brands are really under deliver, which is a disappointment outside of their bakery, which I'd argue is pretty good in general. But. They have everything. So evaluating is a grocery store in terms of hey, this has this has what you need. If you want groceries I think every go slightly higher than the consensus and I'm going to take up to four carts. For Kroger I feel I feel like that's my score I feel like it is just slightly above a below average rather because of its various divisions Nikki through the Puck in union should on us we didn't know okay we don't. We didn't know about the Union Albertson's also unionized workforce. It depends on the some of those larger grocery chains are some of the ones like the ones that you think of is more progressive quote unquote like trigger trader, Joe's and your your whole foods are not. Shutout to Orlando who was my Chaco Guy? He was he was very nice and helpful. And he knew love he'd watched the show. Love. David Esther both worked on. Very good. Yes. Shut Orlando he was. School, you're going to say more. No, that's just shout to him. He was given High Orlando. Hey. That was our review of Kroger. As we close out grocery. Store Monte I'm I say don't fucking stinker. The last one was stinker. stinker grocery store not the episode episode is great that great great egg dough boys quality like always the grocery store is kind of it's you know what? It's like. It's like the rise of skywalker. It's like that's the final injury just a real a real bummer real letdown that even people who are on board or just abandoned ship at that point. So. Yeah. You know what? It makes sense because when I was going down the. There was a bunch of snow clones. Boy. That's a health hazard. Mitch you have a beverage. You can decide if it's worth pouring down your throat. It is another addition of spoon man's drink or stink. No liked I'm sorry spoon man's SIP or ship. Nick. Hold on one SEC. Okay. MITYA's stepping away to get a beverage. What Mitch has but I'm curious Dave. Esther what do you think he's GonNa pull out here. Just Sun Nothing. Yeah I think it's like a flavored root beer some kind good gas. Okay Ester. Slick a scary snapple. Flavor root. Beer scary snapple. Mitch what's The verdict? What are you have? Nick I got myself an easy e low calorie. Green Tea Ale. Is that alcoholic yet is wow, from lakefront brewery. Wow. Which is how exhibiting given to us from someone who probably likes the show. So I hope. I it. We got this in. Wisconsin. It looks like this for Milwaukee the Milwaukee Brewery. Wow. But agreement last live shows ever. One of our last live shows ever or maybe positive we played we do we play Milwaukee before that too. We did. Didn't we? It was in I mean no I think those are first and only time in Milwaukee and aren't we doing? This maybe it was mailed to us to. I'm opening this bad boy up. Your shirts not poison. Yeah. Possibility it's poison. I did on that note one time someone sent US A. Like a sealed container in a brown rapper. And said, we should drink it and I told Mitch I. Didn't want to drink it and he got mad at me for not wanting to drink the mystery drink that was mailed by a stranger now hold on a second mad at you. Yeah. I was just like come on. Let's try. It'll be fun. So Nick I opened this up, got quite the head. The head is spilling out here into our out of the can the Mitch of Beers the. Frothy Frothy head there now. I'm not a huge green tea fan but this is this is interesting because it's also ninety nine calories. The Oh that's nice. A low calorie beer. Or Ale. I'm. GonNa take. A Fun Guy. He's making the you know that Emoji that has the tongue out and then one eye open and one eye closed which I like to use if I say something a allow L. A. Wacky. It's got that Emoji, but then superimposed over that faces the Yin Yang symbol that's big in idea of the vibe that they are trying to convey. GonNa take a SIP right now. Here we go. All right taking a SIP right now. Esther I know you're a teetotaler Dave de remind you drink alcohol. Alternate a little bit of some red wine once in a while have you been consuming during quarantine at all yet intake is Mildly. Crazy but yeah, have injured all. That's good. How about yourself? Yeah. "Carts price, and then hot bar, which is disqualified because the grocery store month but. For you guys that doesn't apply for Nick and we did get some hot bar stuff. So All Right Dave King Your Your judgment, your closing arguments on. Kroger and then your rating out of ten cards. And I'm supposed to evaluate it based on those categories I mean do you don't have to touch on all of them but IF ANYTHING COMES TO MIND Have a half card is a basket just a basket yes. Darts yeah. Well it's because we didn't go there. We didn't. We didn't get hot food. Definitely not hoity toity but I don't know if that's good or bad. Is that twenty twenty? A negative? kind of kind of undecided. Yeah. Interesting. It's definitely the opposite of what that is. You know name and branding one thing which is not interesting but I have to mention is that every time my parents would see a Ralph's in when they visit they're always like I can't believe food stores named Ralph's and I'm like, what are you talking on their like? Ralph, means to throw up cold when we were kids say I saw Ralph last night, which is like sounds like it's from the seventeen fifty but apparently they say that is like vomiting So now I occasionally think of when I think of Ralph's in part because of my parents and mostly because the food is disgusting What. Else to food was bad pretty much across the board watermelon was find ice cream sandwiches refined. I you know it's like it's usually not a great place to go shopping but some of them are cleaner than others I don't know it's like I haven't been there in a while. I'll lists wrap this up overall I'm GONNA say. Honestly three cards three cards. Wow. Three out of ten cards not a great score there my the way rows. People see Ralph's, and they assume it's possessive. It's a first name. With an apostrophe between the H. and the S it's not it was founded by a man whose last name was Ralph's George Ralph strange not rows market Ralph's. Why we respect it a lot more if it was called. Unwieldy Esther your final thoughts on Kroger and your score out of ten cards. I based on what I tried you know I was really shocked the almond milk was as good as it was. or one of the orange juice is being just plain sour was like unacceptable to me. If you're like I, don't know and they experienced their kind of has a gun Nice California feel to me because it's like the first grocery store I went to when I moved out here but. I'M GONNA, save three cars, Dave said Shit. Yeah. I'm. GonNa say three cards I got. Wow. Yeah. You tour the handled in club so far a spoon man what's your verdict? David on a great point of. The Ralph's thing that it's Throw up it is. Kroger and Ralph. That's like funny names. We talked about how it's close to Kruger? Yeah Freddie Krueger who is fun and funny. Also, Krueger on Seinfeld Georgia's Boston season nine who's also funny Krueger. Meets Krueger. Be Fun something fun sketch. Yeah that could be a lot of fun. Overall Impressions. Look the parking. There was very bad but there's better parking at rows. Here's the issue you park below the building unless you're there like. At a good time which they're never is at this at this one on what is it on West on Western. It's that one on like sunset and Western. Metro? Stop. Yeah. So you got so There's like I feel like there's like twenty spots. On the on the top level, and if you don't get one of those spots, you have to park down below. And there's an escalator, but they don't it so that you can take your shopping car down on the escalator like it doesn't make sense. It just is like you know what I mean like, what? What's the point? You hear me. I I understand. But this is a very micro targeted concern about a national chain. Okay. Sure. That one that pissed me off but there's there's other APPs that don't that don't have that issue. Mascot Ralph is funny. There should be some sort of Ralph man. Mascot, Guy. That will be fun. Produce bad experience with those grapes or not. Good Nick. The snacks, frozen snacks, cold snacks, drinks. Pretty much everything was a letdown. I don't think anything was good. Damn. Jego through the products again. Just real quick. Quick Recap. Got Myself a fried chicken meal. With Mac and cheese onion rings corn dog. Breast and wing. Got Myself the Tuscany. Pesto Salad got the Chicken Salad Croissant the Bubbly Ellen. Strawberry. Drink got the to Kombucha's one was cranberry apple and one was blueberry ginger. Are you guys still here? Yeah I mean, this is just a long list of foods. Tell me I thought it'd be funny for you to recap it again but then I got real quick. Here's what I'll say I didn't say this I also got myself nick an Arnold Palmer Wow. A half and half half half lemonade light. and. That was very nice. Your brand that was probably my sip of the night. No. This is just Arnold Palmer Brandon got for myself. Or then that doesn't even qualify towards the score. Yeah. WHO gives a shit? I'm just telling you. Look..

"But they stay skinny in there. I'm they scan my whole body? Wow I heard that I took. A. Lot, more gigs than the other actors. Did they charge you. Yeah the cost money. which I thought was weird. scanned. PDF now. I'll exciting I also wore. One of those. Motion capture suits for Jimmy Kimmel bet and it was me and Jack Allison Werman them. Kate Jackson posted online, and some guy said, where where's his Dick? That's what he said. Where was your Dick? Up In there. In their Own Okay It's turtle. Does. Sensitive. There is a sensitive area nick. Help me out here. What what are you trying to say? It changes sizes sometimes is very compact and in there you know you know. Depending on what you're wearing absolutely can impact that depending on whether people know these things there was a seinfeld episode with this very premise that's right I was in the pool George said. I feel like I'm always in the pool. We'll take a break way back with more toys. Welcome back to dope boys. We're here with Dave King and Esther Pathy for Friendly Greengrocer Mitch's grocery store month. As we review kroger this week to close things out founded by Bernard Kroger and Cincinnati and eighteen thousand three. It is the largest supermarket chain in America and the fifth largest retailer period in the world. Wow under Kroger's umbrella are, of course Kroger Ralph's Food for less Dylan's Smith's Fred Meyer Harris Teeter many many more brands. If there's a if there's a major grocery store next you. That the chances are that it is either a kroger or an albertsons. That's one thing I think we've learned this month Mitch's that those companies have total dominance of at least the the mainstream mainline grocery store supermarket side of things and their store brands are kroger private selection. Civil Truth. Let's start here. David Nester. So what is your normal? I know? Obviously, the in these current circumstances, you're not going to grocery stores much at all. What, what was your? What was your pre lockdown grocery routine? What were your go to stores and and what are your shopping habits I am big whole foods person. So Dave for some reason like. Doesn't like to go grocery shopping he it makes him feel sad. This is true. Am I allowed to say that. Yeah. Author. Enrolls I so I love whole foods. I that's like happy times for me when I. If I'm sad like I. Love the West Hollywood one because up until eleven. So I'm hopeless person and I'm also a big believer in like you have to do multiple hits you can just do one like you ought to go whole foods Joe's but those are probably my only to means I don't Yeah I and yet I don't typically love roths but I, guess that's Sometime. Say that yet but And then we've been ordering deliveries Dave will get delivery from Gallison's because it's a little higher end. So they're not as picked over. So we'll do delivery from there because we have been so strict and not leaving the house, and then I do a produce a weekly produce delivery. Nothing is great. Wow. Yeah. We've been doing a there's a we were doing. We had like a vegetable box that we were getting, and then it was just kind of like that service that particular service we're using was a little wonky I think they're a little overwhelmed by the the increased demand during lockdown but we switched it as this local restaurant that puts together their own farmers market box that you can just go and pick up, and so he switched to that and getting all this fucking amazing produce Nellie is cooking up each week. It's it's a delight and it's just like it's that is a thing of. Just like Mandalay do I keep doing this when things are turned to normal because it is like like what I like about the vegetable box I'm curious about your guys perspective but hey, how about how about you want you do some of the cooking? Wise. Natalie is cooking I do cook I'm just saying like she's more she's more versatile. She has more skill in the kitchen she's more creative cook. She can figure out how to use these I get all this shit and I'm just like I don't know what to do with this. So when it comes time, you're just dropping a big old fucking eggplant on the plane. There's certain ingredients where I'm like I don't know I wouldn't know where to begin with this. I can look up a recipe or whatever. But I, my mind doesn't like I can do certain things and this is outside of my wheelhouse. Like that the box kind of challenges you to be like, okay. I'm to figure out how to make whatever this thing is work. and which which more often falls Denali, and she's very adept at doing that but you do customize what you get. Are you just kind of you sometimes just like okay well, we got. Hey, we got a bunch of A. Bunch of. Fucking Wigham not remembering the name of any vegetable carrot. We got a bunch of carrots this week, whatever we do with carrots, and then you of game plan it that way. In the beginning, there was a little more adrenaline behind everything and so I could get behind the league creative challenge of having to play with the PROTAS box. But now, I'm very strict about customizing also. Will one thing I'm forgetting that really gotten our way is we had no fridge freezer for two weeks Algo. Awful awful. So we had just like stocked up. The lips, and then we had to throw everything away without. Salt. Lake I. I would say, this was like a thousand dollar ordeal. So now, we just got it back again. So we just like ordered a new box and customize it. Wow Frigid stop working in the middle of the heat wave and the quarantine. Bomber Tara. No I mean, it's fine. People are going through worse things broken fridges..

"If you're not used to the up his down style language manipulation of American politics. You might be confused to learn that right to work laws are, in fact, anti-union measures designed to suppress labor power and decrease wages. The right to work formulation was the creation of a now forgotten Texas political figure named Vance Muse a racist Anti Semite closely affiliated with the clan used his influence to muscle through political issues sort of protocol brother. By granting companies, Tacit Union busting. Power right to, work laws accomplished. Musa's twin goals of crushing collective bargaining and keeping workplaces racially segregated and so right to work became a rallying conservative 'cause day the law of the land in twenty seven US states mostly clustered in the south and mountain west, and it's right to work laws that led to the downfall of one of the most influential labor unions. In American history the amalgamated meat. Cutters. Formed in the twentieth century partly as a reaction to the conditions described it at Upton Sinclair's muckraking classic the jungle. Aggressively employing strikes among its multiracial membership, the AMC was a thorn in the side of American agribusiness who prefer to treat their workers like the livestock in their factory farms and so was Republican legislatures implemented right to work laws in rural states. Plants wriggled out of union contracts by relocating to those same states hiring mostly immigrant non union workers to Labor under egregious conditions for minimal pay. Including currently the risk of COVID. And so amalgamated meat cutters adapted merging in nineteen seventy nine with two other unions to form United Food and commercial workers. A move reflected the US shift to a service economy. And American labor power has reached an idea. It's perhaps a hopeful sign that the largest grocery chain in America found in. Cincinnati. In eighteen eighty three has a union workforce organized with the remnants of amalgamated meat. Cutters. This week Ondo Boys are month long review of Supermarkets Friendly Greengrocer Mitch's grocery store month concludes with Kroger. Welcome to dough boys the podcast about chain restaurants. I'm Nick Wagner along with my co-host King of the choose the Spoon Man Mike Mitchell. This. That seems. Is that a take is that supposed to be like King of the Jews like Oh I think so I'm also I'm like, Christ for eating yeah I, think that's what's behind that one that's courtesy of Joseph Bork, Hausky rose spoon manage email dot com. If you have an insult, you like me to the top of the show King of the King of eating. Okay. In the same way that Christ is the King of the Jews you Mike Mitchell are the king of the choose I know and I I figured the puzzles. now do I like the puzzle. I think it's pretty cool. It's like having a big puzzle. It's like having what Emma has made fun of me for this before, and she's like, where's your mic? Truly was not talking into my mic for the start of this episode. Wow. That's exactly why I asked the question when I didn't see the microphone because you never know and also Mitch Got Mad about that. I know I heard I heard that and I heard you in the episode saying lots of things about it. I wasn't there to defend myself, but it's Also. It's. The truth of the matter is, is that I knew you were going to listen to that episode assode. And it was a talking behind your back. Also be fair I caught myself after this is this is not a big issue. Narrow had it up what I what I, what I, what what I've, what I've said in this episode so far as meaningless. Is it that most episodes it's retry it's me trying to figure king of the Jews and I was GONNA say. I was just going to say like putting together a puzzle. And then like you figure out like. The puzzle is of Jeffrey Epstein. It's a big Jeffrey Epstein Picture. Well I think you'd know that earlier on. Like the last piece that gave it away. If you had a mystery puzzle, the final piece happened to be his face then maybe but generally most puzzles you know at your target is unless you're a hardcore puzzle or you those puzzle. They'll solve the damn thing upside down. So they're just assembling the cardboard and then I'll flip it over and since the completed product, it's amazing the pubs lors yeah. Puzzles and puzzles out there Yeah. People who are really into puzzles. Those things are Nelly a lot of them on her computer she'll do like and she does like like extremely difficult puzzles. Hustler she that puzzle? Wow you guys are both Batman Villains. The puzzle and yeah what I don't know what you are. In. Eight Well that's a star wars droids. Mixing. Franchises. Over. All right. "Jinx. Yes, we're talking about James. Say I. I was going to say that the same time. Did you watch that together? We. We dead and my point is that you tell them all. Right? I was asking everybody. Me Did you see Sean Yeah. Do, we all agree by the way that the pandemic and the zoom setups has been such a blessing for comedy in terms of timing, and in terms of getting everyone like it, instead of like being in the same room and breathing down each other's next. There's that little split second pause. Race face where. Yeah you you talk, and then someone else starts to talk, so you stop, but then they give you room. It's that sort of like awkwardness and discomfort in the sound of like esther going through papers right now, which I was just like also growing up all of that together. It's like we're going to look back on this. We start working in actual route like writers rooms again and stuff we're going to be like. Why are we just zooming? It was. Like it had me on edge all the time I never knew to jump in and win to make a joke. When did not can I pick something for the instagram post? So it's not my show but Sharia astor. Are you here? Okay? She's back. Okay what if you do like a mash up post of two movies and it's like palm spring breakers. As, so it kind of implies that you've seen it, but it's also like an amazing joke. I WANNA to be clear. I have a bit about that already, so I don't think I stole it from. You I feel like I should just get out of the way and let Estrin Kevin lives our lives to get. That was magic man I mean she scavenged about rap and you can just feel. Feel it, and that's really the the sort of like. When the male peacocks breads his plumage, yes, but their vibe I wonder if it is a result of kind of the fluidity of the Zoom format has to be that. Have you to admit over zoom? You might have this kind of connection, but you won't have that opportunity at it because you met in New York when she was fourteen. The. the I think. The summer of nine eleven is out..

Pictures of animals and animal ranking site first pets, then all kinds of animals. People. Would rank the animals. Then it became more focused on what the animals liked I guess, and and and it became about the animals liking. And one actor in particular Mr. Vince Vaughn. They have really turned on Vince. Since the last ad we did. okay so all bad at all. The in all the photos the animals were thinking about Vince Vaughn thought Dole and all the. People, were man Vince. You've been Vaughn I. You know. I've been. Horny for the first time. What stuff a while it was stuff like that. And I. I think it's great that people were expressing themselves in this fun creative way. They do not like Vince anymore. The animals now are planning I. Don't think it's anything he did and I hope it's not anything I did. You don't think he did anything to to turn the animals on him, but now the posts have become fairly sinister and they are planning. To. KIDNAP AND Harm grievously harm. K. "Fanning Shawn Fanning who was the benefactor? The wealthy benefactor I can't say okay. Okay I'm not allowed to say. Can you tell me what you said you sort of? There was a moment earlier where you kind of mumbled in like your. Harry near the microphone. What were you saying I was reminding myself who was? Let me say. Let me give a fake. Let's say it was commissioned by Commissioner. Gordon and that will be very easy way to remember well, and that will actually draw a lot of our fans who are. The outcast, the weirdoes, the misfits, the people who enjoyed Batman. So, he you know. I, usually work in Marble Clay. That's your radio some that. He has requested something that has a little more give that he can kind of like. How press on like an like an honk, parts of it. and. Make possibly carve out little. Crevices the scoop out little pieces. Yeah, exactly. And so I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what it. COULD BE I, use different sauces. I heat them up I. Wait for them to cool down until they have like the right something. That doesn't just like completely fall apart that you like will stand there, but will also like. Leave a little indentation. Lost When you press it or honking or whatever lost in the sauce. So ultimately. It ends up just getting too late, and I end up just having to. He shows up, and I ended up to standing very still like a statue. Well and to be fair. You have been sculpting your own body for years. You've been free end it is. masterpiece I know are you freeze pieces of your body? And it's Kinda. Submission Smith him in with different. You know kitchen tools and stuff, and it actually has been looking I think really cool lately, not traditionally. Sexy or whatever whatever that means. What does that mean? No, it's true like why you know. Why are we so limited in our definition of like what's attractive? When you have now sort of it looks like a fork on one side of your torso. And then on the other side, there's like a big bulbous ladle shape. People say like Oh you have a fork like if. You eat in a kitchen now. My torso forks. Before the legs! And I took the one less travel. Right and so he walks in. He does his dogs. Around for like fifteen twenty minutes. He said he would get bored and.

"Marketing and creative types allow so we created a whole solution just for them everything from your intake forms to the portfolios to manager marketing playbook to workload which is the ability to see and staff all of your team think of you know the perennial problem of designers designers being overloaded or under worked now you actually can see how much everybody has on their plate to adobe integrations integrations with email marketing tools and then <hes> coming up we <hes> expanding on that workload offering to be able to <hes> to measure the effort and output of everybody on the team. We just did some research on this problem that all of us as marketers face which is overworked and the world health organization just just came out in classified burnout as an occupational hazard weeds research that showed that eighty percent of people feel overworked and when you cut that by marketers it's even worse so marketers. Seventy five percent of marketers have have been burned out in the last six months and i think this problem of not having a clear plan clear responsibilities and being able to see everybody's workload so that you're not burning out your stars ars and under working team huge problem so we're releasing that product which really excited about the so fun yeah man. I couldn't agree remorse. I just think that whether it's marketing sales like there is truly no end to your job ever and if you don't have an acute always create more stuff you could always do these things when you're in that mode like that is exhausting and you don't ever feel like you get off. The treadmill like you never do is like i should. I should write this white paper that in this customer success story that i've been working on. It's like you know the g. Doc on the g. daca graveyard. It's like four hundred drafts that i have sitting there. Yeah i think it's it's having real impact on people's anxiety and <hes> their ability to be creative and their productivity. I think a lot of this stuff is just not translating into outcomes but when you can get clear on those expectations and then our job is marketing leaders is to make sure do they have alignment on the problem. Do they have a clear plan and do. They have a a a balanced workload. You have thriving creative teams before getting lighting around. I do wanna get some little feedback from from the expert here. What are what are some hacks. What are some tips that we can do here admission to improve our productivity using using asana yeah la love it. We'll give you a couple on then. I'll i'll give you a tip which is which is one of my favorites. The first is i'm sure you've got tehema company objectives and goals and values with those images into an asana portfolios everybody can see him and have each of the the body of work ladder up to them great way to get a bird's eye view of everything. That's going on and forever you know. Is this thing that i'm working on time to the to the objective or the plan yeah a second is that marketing calendar marketing plan. Get that in there and share with the broader team so for you every every show in every key pre and post production date have that in a timeline view in asana which will also be available in calendar view and so that as something changes changes. Maybe a recording <unk> changes. Everybody knows that it's always up to date and boy do they. All things change all the time and you just never the app dating people via email. You know just update it. Once in it shows up every walk yeah third is tampa ties though the workflow it flows. You're never reinventing the wheel yeah so using asana templates. Get the flow in the process the way you like it create that as a template in after after every single time you use it go. How can we improve it and you just create a learning organization. It's constantly getting better and more and more efficient and <hes> <hes> one of the one of my favorite features is we have this concept of universal record any task. The lives in asana can live anywhere anywhere at the same time recall multi home so for for our team where host and a bunch of big events in in europe will is that part of the european paean marketing plan is part of the events plan is part of the global can only planned dancers..

"That. How do you do that any events with size marketing team. We have a very templeton streamlined process so we do a each community gathering. That redo has one hundred fifteen tasks. That is a template. That's in asana project. Can you share them with me. Afterwards i by a four person team that will do two hundred events on five continents while and they have the methodology and after every single event they improve the process they do a retrospective. They look at what worked with didn't work pulling all the survey results improve the process for the next time and what i love about. It's all updated in a in a time line so when our team in sydney asks hey wins. The next event wins next tour. Stop in melbourne. You can just send a link. It's right there. It's always up to date so yeah amazingly efficient team but <hes> our business model lends itself to that we just read it to focus on building really good well-designed product for the and for the end users and then they share the good good news so what are those types of events are those cross channel or discipline like what are they for different types of leaders like what what's going on. There's there's all different flavors so we have some that are for marketing and creative teams so we have <hes> most the big publishing houses whether it's h._b._o. Showtime or national national geographic you're managing their content production design processes own asana will have one flavor just for them in they come and <hes> it's about the community. It's not about us so we just gather them and they share their their processes. Which are you are you like hosting the event and then you're bringing in the experts yeah yeah we we organize it but they <hes> they provide a lot of the content <hes> makes sense and then we'll have hands on trainings and things like like that i think as a marketer job has always been to create content. It's useful in delightful to the audience and a find out what what works for your particular audience and then had you had you scale preaching to the choir as <hes> you know and i think that a lot of people out of marketers visitors can just don't necessarily feel like they have the bandwidth to do the work in which you can go and get that information because i think a a lotta times especially with creative work like we're kind of just creating the work till i check the boxes to click complete in an asana as you as <hes> rather than the why behind those things and you see this with like outsourcing of content which is just you know if you're again. If you're outsourcing for ten dollar articles like you shouldn't be writing those articles and if the person is that good of a writer you should pay them five times more money just out out of the goodness of your heart because if they're working for you know ten dollars an hour. That's not great <hes> i just i fundamentally don't see i see the volume. I don't see the impact packed those type of campaigns yeah. I couldn't agree more. I think i'm very reluctant when i hear people talk about marketing tactics tactics and that an advocate that those get adopted anytime you see an article that says the five tips that you must do typically written by pundit not a practitioner fisher yeah and each of our audiences in our markets is so unique that you have to start with problem clarity if he got what's the problem. You're trying and solve it. How do you get a semi autonomous team to develop a hypothesis and tested rate on that hypothesis and so when we hire hire people were we look for the intellectually curious <hes> we look for people who are problem solvers and storytellers anyone who's trying to bring an off the shelf playbook it just doesn't doesn't it doesn't work because what works for one company is not going to work for the next so it's all about how can you get clear on the problem. How do you create a process that allows you to get to the best outcomes..

"Out. How do you connect to that to to trend in real time. We're in an environment. You gotta do a lot more with less and it means. You got a lot more agile so <hes> what's interesting is we are. We are more connected than ever before more messaging seymour file-sharing but hasn't always translated into more productivity is so big thing is getting clarity on. You know what's most important and who's doing and why so. What do you think there's a differentiation between collaboration and coordination like how do those two things as potentially different different things yeah i i think of the the three cs of collaboration so every team needs <hes> communications tools. These are things like slack or our messaging services or even email. <hes> second is in either content so drop box or google drive and then they need the coordination which is is okay. What what are the goals would what's the plan and who is doing what by what day what time and so we run on the gas stack we use google asana asana and slack in each team has a diversity of of those three. That's what we that's funny nice stack but the big on big thing that we're seeing is collaboration tools have <hes> we're collaborating exponential rates so the number of messages and things and sinks is expert financial rate that hasn't translated into real productivity so michael mankins from bain has done a bunch of research that shows our productivity barely keeping pace with inflation yet. We're collaborating off the charts and i think it's important to not mistake collaboration for a getting and stuff done and at at the heart of it. Is you know you really need clarity on. What is the goal or the objective of the team. What's the plan and that plan needs is to be visible by by everybody in defining who's responsible for what earlier may career you'd you'd go into meetings and you you discuss something. You'd you'd walk out but it wasn't clear if what we talked about doing it. Are we not doing who who is due tomorrow or is it do next next quarter. That lack of clarity leads to extraordinary amount of waste on your team and so one of my big goals with our team is make sure that everybody's got clarity on the plan and who's doing what i win. We never wanna leave a conversation without making that really explicit and asana helps us do them. When you have to live in your document of record right like you have to live in like the accountability service record like that's the thing i think it's one of the biggest differences that i've seen as you try to bring your team to be more high-performing thing is it is no longer acceptable at the end of a meeting to say like okay. Let's schedule. The next meeting is like we all have calendar sinked. Let schedule it right now or hey what what words are will do outs for this meeting. Just put the tasks in asana. Well were in the call rate like don't don't put it on google docs that we then have to go find again just like do it in real time and i think that that's that is like one of the keys is what is the what is the deadline for this thing and what's great about you know this is a a huge hug or anything but woods great though is like you know that you can put tasked with date on assigned versus assignments like hey if you just get the tass in there and get whoever their attack they're assigned to. It's like we you can add in the days later but at least we have like a place for those things to live. That's right yeah. I'm one of the top use cases. Hey creighton agenda for the meeting beforehand hand. There's an opportunity comment on the on the doctor the agenda beforehand to rise. What questions do we actually decisions. We actually need to make the then then you get in there and yeah assignments things out in the medium and oftentimes with meeting ends early. We've thing here we we have no meeting wednesday so that just time for deep work doc and <hes> if you run your means officially you could do that yeah we <hes>. I think airbnb does too i think they do. I think it's this fact the coordination piece..

"Off. I went to Calgary play for Dave King and never really until years later realize what an astute you move that was on his part because when I came into the N._H._l.. I was ready to play absolutely. I was ready like day one so was there an H.. L. Back then was it was it was but you were too young to go there. Yeah I was too young to go to the A._H._l.. And I had had already played two years of junior after we'll after my second year junior. I wasn't ready to go to the N._H._l.. So I would have had to go back to junior again sure and <hes> and Max <hes> to his credit and for a lot of people you know the the reason it was so good good was obviously you go to the national team a chance to play in the Olympics but the schedule was incredible. You played on in Europe a lot of games and we were playing against the Russian national team so at Eighteen nineteen years of age I was planning its Fetisov and Larry on of and all those guys were young guy that team no. I wasn't the youngest but there was a number of guys that were in my situation cliff. Ronning and people like this at all went on to have decent N._H._l.. Career so that was a common thing for guys who are too good for junior and they would just they want to develop faster now. Nowadays I mean you look at Awesome Matthews. He went over to Europe to play for a team there and he got to make some money back then I would imagine you're getting paid a little bit but not too much yeah you know it was it was a little different because your contract once once you signed your contract actually ran oh not like now so so those years ran off my deal. So you got your signing bonus. She got a little bit of of money on the side. You weren't going to get rich for sure but when you're nineteen twenty years old and you traveling traveling around the world and it's all paid for playing hockey you know there's not too many better ways you think you can spend your development years absolutely and then so after your second full season with the national team you actually ended up going to New Jersey at the end of the a year you played thirteen regular season games and the European the starter in playoffs. Yeah we went right through to <hes> game six. <hes> we lost <hes> you know we're one game or actually gained seven. We're one game from one of the Stanley Cup in my first year and it was really a blessing and a curse all at once because I came out of the national program rate into the kind of the fire and we had success right off the bat and I al- almost thought boy this is this is great. This is going to be like this every year and boy did it come crashing down after that for a couple of years after my great intro and I'm like Oh yeah so you grew up in Windsor and you're like no I actually was raised in Toronto about Thirteen Games of playoff run was a little better than your intro but not in case of what was the reason why you all of a sudden just stepped in where starter would they have issues in net where their injuries yeah there was a combination that the team had never made the playoffs that we had a young team we had <hes> you John Maclean and Kirk Muller Brendan Shanahan and we had this team that was poised to start to take the next step but they didn't have that goal tender and so the team was almost waiting for me to come in. You know we had all been both the same I made. We were all sort of on the cusp of being decent N._H._l.. Players and yet I was the one guy that was still kind of sitting back developing with the national team and of course guys new hey. This is our second round pick. He's a good goalie..
