"July come on wake up and. Get the calendar right here, Dave, July Twenty, third, twenty, twenty and. We are actually glad for the passage of the past few months given this cove nineteen crisis. Let's hope we are nearer the end of it and we were in April Sure we are so maybe it's a sign of life those. Hey we are gonNA open the phone lines in the next little bit. Because we normally talk to one of our CBS news correspondents during this time slot of the Dave Ramsey show. We were unable to make that connection this morning, but we do love having our CBS CBS. News folks on one of most as and and then Bob Ney on Fridays. Of course we expect Bob will be back tomorrow morning for his weekly appearance, as as we try to get a national perspective just off the top of the hour. Happy to talk about any national issues that are on the minds of listeners out there this morning as well as local state issues obviously. The number, zero, two, four, four, one, seven, seven, seven. That's the local number in Waterbury. Toll Free number, one, eight, seven, seven to nine one. Eight, two, five, five and In just a few minutes. We're going to be speaking with. Scudder Parker he is. The new collection of poetry lives in Middlesex and as a as a book called safe as lightning. It's poems by scuttle H, Parker and boy. They really are very nice interesting to read and He's a very. thoughtful and guy and gifted poet I think most people are who encounter his poetry, really like it, and so I'm interested to speak with Scott Parker in just a few minutes and We have a all sorts of other topics to talk about in the interim in including This question of is Governor Scott actually going to issue a mask mandate Possibly as soon as tomorrow. He has one of his regular news conferences these doing on Tuesdays and Fridays. Now we carry them live on. W., Devi, FM, and am right after Graham show on on Tuesdays and Fridays other days of the week. the bill Sayer commonsense radio, our follows our show here, but on Tuesdays. And Fridays these as we go into the governor's news conference where he gets together with other top state officials, and they talk about what the latest is on states, response to the Code Nineteen crisis interesting that the governor is contemplating moving to the mask mandate. Now I, know Vermont's numbers. have tended to be low in recent weeks. Certainly, in comparison to other states where the covid nineteen crisis is just exploding. Florida Texas Arizona California certainly. And we are relatively lucky up here in the northeast in Vermont. Especially where we've been able to keep the numbers low there was scared down in Manchester last week where there were initially reports more than sixty positive test results. Ended up being false positives for the most part, and and actually a total of five. confirmed cases of the COVID nineteen virus were found in in a big round of testing in Bennington County after that initial initial Askari report so We are obviously in a in still in a state of not being sure. how are we going to respond to to the COVID? Nineteen crisis I think it's all in a state of flux. Curious to get listeners thoughts out there. On what they think we should do for instance about opening schools in the fall. Should they open completely? Try to get as close back to normal as we as we can and If they If they do open, should there be various restrictions? Should students be going? part-time and working from home part time it'd be a remote means. Usually the Internet basically so lots of questions out there about this Kobe nineteen crisis, and We're going to have to I guess sort of feel our way forward through it is unlike anything I think. Any of us has ever seen before in our lives. I guess there are a few people over one hundred years old who may have been alive, but probably don't remember because they were tiny little infants back during the Spanish flu, of Nineteen, eighteen, nineteen, nineteen. We did have a flu pandemic back then. But This is an and of course the world so much different back then we had a much a much less an economy. just wasn't designed the way. Our economy is in our current economy, certainly I think it was shown to be vulnerable to this kind of a of a shakeup. Really I don't know whether what kind of an economy you could build it wouldn't be. But boy, this one certainly certainly has been vulnerable curious to know if there are many people out there who are still working from home. If you have a job where you know, it's nice to go in normal times. YOU WANNA be in the office with your coworkers and and bouncing ideas off of each other and having that sort of airplay but you could also do your job pretty effectively for home, or are you still doing that? Does that make the most sense to you? Are. You scared to go back in and start You know making the daily Commute and going back to your old routine. Stop it at the coffee shop on the way in. CETERA and so lots of lots of questions out there for individuals. Lots of questions out there for. Government agencies for society at large. Are we ever going to get back? Are Are performing arts. We had had some folks on the performing. Arts. Realm on the other day the other day. cruelty, including a terrific actor, a Louis Goose Minute was above born in Puerto Rico lives in Vermont these days along with Sarah, Grayson and Ben, done to musicians, Sarah's a terrific singer..

"Doubled? You don't to. You know what? I'm not the man. You see there, grant know. Okay, We're still Chinese. I'm sorry, Dave, say that again. The reason I'm not concerned about that, as much as they would hope I am is because it's got no description of who these people are. Have we double because a lot of 20 year olds think they're invulnerable and they're getting it. But older people who are going to get sick and die from it aren't I don't care about a double number. I want to know what demographic those people are in. Now there are don't you want to know what we've doubled from? And to Dave, don't you important? Sure. Thanks for asking. Let me tell you. What have we done that since I'm going to say July 5th, we had 183 new cases. Now. Ah, yes, July 19th we had 400 new cases. So though the governor is correct To Dave's point earlier, unless these people are in a high risk category or they're in the outlier categories, where they're going to end up very, very sick. Most of these people are under the age of 60. And that group of people does not necessarily die now. Funny story. Also, I just happened to zip over on the website, the Corona virus website that the Colorado has out you want to know how many desperate recorded yesterday, Dave July 90 You must think that's kind of an accounting error because people are dying left and right, right. How about July 17th? How about two deaths? Now? I don't want to minimize those people. They are human beings, and I am sorry for their loss for their family. We're talking about statistics here. Don't take it personally right now. I mean, the curve. What I want to hear what you hear is not how many new cases we have. I would like to hear. How many new people have been hospitalized and how many new people have died. Yes, I don't want to care about a symptomatic people walking around fine. That doesn't concern me. I'm concerned about people getting sick. Tell me those statistics. And that will concern Mayday. Mayday! What about those nice symptomatic people who get around you and they bring their germs The year in your 70 Dale Well, if I don't answer the door for those people, I don't let them in. If I'm scared, and I'm 71 I look through the people and say You're a 20 year old with possible Corona virus. You've been checked. Goodbye. Have you been checked in every quarantine for 14 days? It's that simple. No, Dave. It's not. I think people who are high risk at this point in the process are where they're in high risk. And probably are taking proper precautions and, by the way, my flippant attitude about the governor's statistical analysis of the actual numbers does not mean that I think you should stop wearing masks and stop washing hands and stop socially distancing. None of that. We're just looking for a little little truth in advertising here. Get their tactics. Okay, great. Those think us feel like we're Children. You can tell us the real of truth because we would react the wrong way And you don't want that, so you'll deceive us so that we'll do what you want us to do. That's were being worn stiff. You once were Children. Well, Dave, I got to tell you, I I have a friend who shall remain nameless. But I was talking to him the other day. He's one of those people that's always looking for opportunities. When you know things go bad. He's like I want to know where to put my money. So he calls me to get my feeling about what industries to watch and everything. We talked about a bunch of stuff. I kind of felt a little like Thomas Fry for just a second. We need our futurist back on because I'm starting to feel like the future is bleak. And he always makes me feel really hopeful about stuff that's coming up so but I was talking to my friend and you know what he said about the mask wearing and I got to tell you when he first said it, I laughed. But it's been stuck with me. Okay, So this is a grower on you. It's like it's like a mole and throwing a mold swore at you right now, But he goes, Manny. The mask wearing thing is just so we all look like the Chinese. They were amassed in China all the time because of the high levels of pollution. And they all look exactly the same. And the easiest way to completely erase our individuality in the United States is to have us all look exactly the same exactly like all the Chinese. I was like, Oh, come on. And then, like the next day, I was like, Oh, my God. Could that be a thing because don't put anything past the Chinese communist government. Like straight up. These people will murder their own people. I had a story earlier. I didn't put it on the block today because I knew I was gonna have time to talk about it. It's something I want to talk about the future and that is their going into Christian churches and Christian homes and demanding that Christians destroy images of Jesus and crosses. So now they're take attacking the basic tenants of religion and and the Chinese communists. Don't put anything past them. Cause they'll do it. I mean, they will do it. So first, and like I said, I thought it was crazy, too. And then now I've been thinking about it, but the problem with it. Here's the hole in that theory, because this is what I do. I get a theory like this, and then it kind of wiggles around my brain. The problem is, is that if you've walked anywhere where there's a lot of people, none of us have on the same face masks. We all have, like some people have neck gators and I have my paper, disposable mass. And Dave has is, you know, we all have different masks on So even in a situation where we could potentially be being stripped of our individuality, we still find a way to express our individuality. So you know that that is an important thing to recognize. Let me throw this out because we've got a little time Grant is still trying to track down the mayor. According to an editorial from The Wall Street Journal. And just so, you know, I know it's behind a pay wall, so I put the good parts on the block today. I just I just I put a few paragraphs that you need to know it's it's not written by doctor. It's written by one of the Wall Street editorial board members, but it's as links to the studies that she refers to and links to various organizations where you can check all of her work. So I did that this morning. And There are some very interesting things that we assumed about the Corona virus that have turned out not to be accurate. One of them is that it didn't start until January. But now Chinese authorities say they have first identified a case in Wuhan in November. But since Beijing didn't lock down the Hubei Province until January 23rd for two months, direct flights ran from Wuhan to 30 cities outside China, including London, New York, Paris, Rome and San Francisco. I'll finish this shortly. We're going to bring the mayor on right now. Because we finally tracked him down. Mayor Michael Hancock. Welcome, Sir. How are you? Hey, man, we gotta get you guys answer the phone down there. Oh, stop it. You have been called the wrong number. I've been calling..

"Report. On believable. I can't believe what a mousy turned into. It's fucking Dr Susan here. We got a mouse in the house. We literally White Sox. Dave is dead. He's dead. What a shame. What a shame. Well, hopefully, we can get one of the other chicag- is on the line. I know they got some fire. I know Eddie wasn't happy when he threw seventies. Like, I'm sure we'll fix it. But now they all going to be looking at the projects like holding him by the tail looking at them like it's different angles. Dave you still in there or do we should just let you run run into the streets. They have to distance themselves. I mean, everybody has a distance themselves from the mouse, you have it's tough spot to be. I don't know Chicago. This is her first real big. Well, I guess they did go through the whole. Double dunk, but that you know that but. Promise. This is where you can't make especially as like the new guy. Like, maybe I could get away with something that outrageous in that specific in the back now not into it. But when you're brand new full-time, and you put your reputation his name is White Sox state, and you pick up specific statue in not only that, but it was like a chain myself to it the way he tweeted again. All right. Yeah. It's like, oh, you think Portland is so cool so tougher getting arrested for the past few times, you know, real tough guy. Wait and died chain myself to the champions plaza statue of the socks don't sign Machado. You can't tweet like that. And then just nah, not gonna do. It is defense for Bailey out was I really felt they are going to sign Machado. No shit, dude. While you tweeted it. Yeah. And then now you have to follow through or else, you just well, you're a mouse. He was a mouse note dente. Yes, david. Yes, sir. I have another, sir. He's a mouse. It's a sad day for barstool Chicago. The guy the man formerly known the blogger, formerly known as White Sox. Dave has now become mouse. Yeah. He's just mouse went back on his tweet to claim that if the White Sox did not sign Machado that he would chain himself to a very specific statue while seemingly chiding me and making it seem like my what I've done is nothing. Again, the tweet is if you think Portnoy is cool for getting arrested for the pats few times, wait until I chain myself to the champions plaza statue of the socks don't sign Machado. Well, the Padres signed Machado and White Sox. Dave, formerly known as White Sox. Dave now known as the mouse was just like no not gonna do that. That's it. And now, I think. If I was the rest of the Chicago office. I'd be very nervous that he is ruining our reputation our credibility in basically writing checks with his ass with his mouth that his ass cannot cash. So we have chief from the barstool office who I assume doesn't know what to do with this mouse. It's a tough spot to be in you'd stand by your guy trap. But I off chief nice. Are you there? Yeah. I'm here. Why are you call them? I'll well, he's a mouse of a man we had him on the Airways. And we said, hey, White Sox. Dave, you've documented this promise that I assume you just heard it you're on the line. I saw I saw the whole interaction. Yeah. The well. We're waiting whatever. So how how he's. Well, his whole thing if you were paying attention dentist his whole thing. If they gave out if they gave out some bullshit offer. Then then he would go and get arrested. And I believe that to be true. I mean, he's I'm sitting right across from. He's fucking broken. Well, they gave the best offer. They offer them three hundred and fifty million total which would have made Machado the highest paid player ever. So I think you know, they did their job. He just chose somewhere else. Ryan store if to be like a cheapskate chief. Here's here's the issue. And it's a nice spin zone. But he I believe if we go piece the clues together is definitely said he wasn't into it before the news of the actual offer in which he says, oh now, I feel better. He said no before he knew that. Well, I can't defend that So I if you said he right away was not going to do it. I don't know. But I'm guy wants to see all the facts come out. So I think the way it stands right now. He shouldn't get around. What do you wanted to do? I mean is he? Exactly. By the way. I don't I don't disagree with that. Then let's pack up because what does is brought up is another. You know, people are saying, okay. He backed out. Well, obviously did because he said he was going to jump in. Yeah. So I got sent this over the break that in two thousand seventeen he said he'd jumping a river. If someone wasn't under five hundred or something at the all star break. And then this tweet is from White Sox. Dave July ninth twenty seventeen re me jumping in the river. I will do it. But not if I come out of convicted felon going over legalities now with two lawyers in my DM's. So that sounds like a very very similar excuse that he threw out to me. Which is I said, I'd do it. But now the legality of it your mouse has to stop saying he's going to do all these things. And then when he's wrong or what he says wants to happen. Doesn't happen basically say well legal. Yeah. Well, don't keep saying it because guess what tell the most if he's right next to you. When you start seemingly chiding me. Oh, if you think Portland is so cool forgetting arrested for the pats few times, wait until I chained myself is he not like, and then he says, well, I'm not going to get arrested because there's legal. I didn't have a look didn't do any of that. So you got to tell the mouse to stop saying these. All right. He's going to go in the river. I've been in the river. It's gross. It's not a big deal. You can get in the river without getting rested. We'll make sure that happens when it's not like a legitimate health advocate. He's gonna freeze it. So that's going to happen. We'll Reese to death. We've I did polar plunge is like six years in a row for free frayed. You can't get out or no you can't. There's no quick dip into the river. Either go in and you have to swim like fifty yards or you're you're drowning and dying. There's no quick dips run in run out. So you're talking you're talking out of hand there. I'm just saying well to this two thousand seventeen so he's had plenty of summers to take care of this. I'm not I'm not excusing. I'm not excusing the river. Needs to go in the river. We're gonna make that has is just a mouse thing that he keeps saying he's going to do stuff. And then do it. Do not about. But like you you got arrested for. Quote noble, cause we'll call it. All right, depending Brady there's nothing for him to protest or get arrested for like it a they put the best. He didn't know that. When he didn't know that when he said, he wasn't going to do it. Here's what it sounds like to me because the only person he should be mad at Machado. So it sounds like you're sending him out to do something illegal to Machado is that what you want him to do because he can't go after the White Sox as they did everything I wanted to do exactly what he says he's going to do. I can't have this office running around saying they're going to do all these things and then act like their size. It'd be consequences. That's the nature of making these ridiculous. Dave is asking for the phone. He wants round to as you know, the mouth for. No, okay. Yes. All right. Lease. All right. Is this your mouse, you say, Mr. please, not go ahead and call me mouse, weird haircuts or whatever you wanna call now. That's the perfect season two weeks in the fall like Mike, and I'm going to complete all winter to like, I, I honestly, like I think some people really are naturally like they want cold weather. They want warm weather and like I think I'm becoming. I'm just a cold weather gal. You will you always air-conditioning. That's a big deal. I'm never called like, I'm like, I'm out when people are going on and freezing. I'm like in like a bra brought up. I just am so glad summers. If I agree at technically, but like I'm gonna get a boyfriend highs guys. My theory is that you can only get a boyfriend. It's September October, here's okay. These are the only acceptable eight weeks to date because you can't date once the holidays start you what I just can't. Charter relationships, you can't start a relationship over the holiday. Yeah, because I'm just never around thanksgiving. January second. You could maintain one. Yeah, yes. Blocks of people do that ever heard of it? And then what's winter happened just before Christmas. Guy have been dumped twice before thanksgiving anyways, nothing anything. You know, once it's winter, it's just I can't date in the winter. I can't show up like all snot nosed and freezing loved today in the winter. All you want to do is stay inside and cuddle and fuck. I dates dating like initial date. I see. Okay.
