I know they had a couple of good first round picks, but I will say this. It's very rare. I think Dave gettleman did it once. And the mail guy, the Mayo Gruden regime did it. But it's very rare to have two first round picks and not coming away as having quote unquote crush the draft. You just take two guys, one of them slips and everybody's like, oh yeah, hell yeah, they crushed the draft. It's actually an accomplishment when you don't crush the draft with two first round picks. Didn't the chiefs have two first round picks this year? Why don't they get crushed to draft buzz? What did they do? They got left out of the crushed drop bus. All right, Houston 15 to one. No. I think we both think that's happening. All right. Where are you on David's mills? As like a 2014 Flacco kind of game of the three step drop, chuck it for sure. That's about it. My only thing and this is something that I've talked about with the NFL folks a lot is like it's a realistic rebuild. They know it's a total teardown they're just chipping away. I have a self aware rebuild, right? So I do like the direction they're heading in or caserio and I guess I guess the coach is going to be lovely Smith for next couple of years. "Here's the one like 9th round before the trade. So if you're drafting early like me and scooping up Robins and you're feeling pretty good. My next aloe Vera player is Kenny gallaudet who Dave gettleman's departing gift to giants fans was gallaudet's horrific contract counting 71 million over four years and he was brutal last year. In fact, the last two years have been tough. Two years ago in Detroit, it was just a lost season due to injury, but last year, Kenny gallaudet only missed three games and somehow finished as wide receiver 86 with zero touchdown scored, zero. He only had one game over 64 yards and none topping 53 yards after week four. Gallaudet was on start able as it turned out for most of the season. So why will it get any better for gallaudet? We've established that he burned you last year. How will he be an aloe Vera player? Well, first he's going to roll into this year fully healthy, unlike last year. He rolled into last year, hurt, and he played like somebody who was playing hurt all year long. Gallaudet's got the history of the soft tissue injuries. Let's just hope that doesn't come back, but he will be healthy at this point. He gets a presumed massive upgrade in coaching from Joe judge and Jason Garrett to Brian dabel, who's obviously been able to get great years out of wide receivers like Stefan Diggs. Former bills offensive. Coordinator. Yes. And Kenny galli is a good receiver. I mean, there's only two seasons removed from a 1200 yard 11 touchdown season. On a three win Lions team, so it's not like holiday is suddenly a bad receiver. And he's still young, by the way. So if you believe gallaudet is still can be a good player who's now healthy and that this offense is going to get better with better coaching. There's a ton of upside for Kenny gallaudet. I agree. And you know what? Why don't we just stay with the New York football giants, 'cause I got sick on. I was gonna say, but I know where you're going with this. On my list, you finished outside the top 25 running backs, probably maybe even outside the top 35 40. A lot went wrong for him, but really it was his first year off the corner. ACL. And usually running backs take two years to return to forum. So that would be this year. And he also did get injured last year, but it's not like it wasn't his knee, and it sounds like he's injury prone. It was a fluke stepped on his own teammates ankle on a run. So high ankle sprain itself. Ding doom and let's not forget the team he played for the Giants were disaster with Dave gettleman in charge and Sean Payton as the offensive coordinator just a nightmare. Sean Payton, but that's okay. He wasn't The O.C.? No. Sean Payton, the old head coach for the saints. Jason Garrett, Jason Gary. They're both very dislikeable in my mind. I'm sorry. Jason Garrett, brain fart there. But the O line was brutal for the Giants, but they did address that in the draft. They took tackle Evan Neal with the 7th overall pick. I like that. Guard Joshua, is he you do? Think I got that right with the 67th overall pick and the third round.

"We know that's a major need for them. But yeah, I don't know. What's your gut feel here on the scenes? I think if you're the saints and you want a quarterback and you have these two picks, you have to take the quarterback first. Yeah. Because you can't, this is the exact same thing as much as I disagreed with it. This is the exact same point that Dave gettleman made when they had the two first round picks. I can't know that Daniel Jones might be there. But then I can't take him second and then be like, oh cool, he's still there. You know, nobody else wanted him. Like, you have to have some assertiveness here, you know? And you have to take your guy here. It could be Kenny Pickett. I liked Matt corral there. Just because boy, he gets rid of the ball fast, you know? And not that it's Drew Brees ask, but the release is quick. It's on time. It's accurate. You could scheme something up good within there, but I'm good with, you know, pick it, I like him too there because like you said, dome team, you're not concerned about the hand size as much, some functional mobility like there is with corral and he's a little bit thicker. So you're not worried about the injury and you're not worried about the past injury. Issue stuff. So I think you got to take your quarterback if you're going to take your quarterback here though. Okay. I like what you bring it with Matt corral here. Again, I feel like we're going to end up trying to find this sort of a warm weather, don't be placed for Kenny Pickett, so that he doesn't have to throw his passes like a soccer throw in. Or like a series of shovel passes, shovel pass only offense. That's your only choice if you're playing in the northern part of the country. But I do like corral, I mean look, I don't like any of these quarterbacks, but I do relatively like corral as an option and a fit here in New Orleans. So let's do that. Let's do Matt corral out of Ole miss to the saints with the 16th pick, which brings us to the Chargers who boy, what a nice spot for the Chargers to be in. "Day, the Giants have fired their head coach Joe judge. And I'm trying not not. I'm very excited about this, but not because I don't like Joe judge. He's not an awful person, nothing like that. But keeping Joe judge for another year and I feel like he's just not going to work. Felt like a dead end. It felt like a wasted year next year. And the only argument I think you can make in favor of keeping Joe judge is if there's just no good candidates available to become your head coach and you're like, well, look, the last thing we want to do is hire someone we don't really want for a year within fire and then get the coach who really wants. So if there's nothing available you like, stick with Joe judge. I guess that would have made sense, but now the fire Joe judge, the general manager, Dave gettleman has been allowed to, he retired, which is very honorable, the giant, so not fire him, just let him kind of resign and retire. And I do wonder if Brian Flores becoming available, the former dolphins head coach. You know, because the story was the report was, hey, we're going to keep Joe judgment we're not going to fire him. He's our guy moving forward. So the Giants were not planning to fire Joe judge. And then I wonder if black Monday came the day that all the coaches get fired, and they were like, oh my gosh. Brian Flores is available? Let's go get him. I think that might have got the gears turning because it wasn't until Tuesday that Joe judge got fired. And, man, you look at the Giants right now. The Giants have two top ten picks. Number 5 overall pick, and the number 7 overall pick. In theory, you could trade those picks for, say, Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, or deshaun Watson, where you get a starting quarterback that's really good and maybe a higher coach like Brian Flores. Now, with Brian Flores, I love the guy. He does not coach the offensive side of the football. He has to get a good offensive coordinator. But right now, if you're a giant fan, these are very, very exciting times. Look, I thought the Giants were going to do nothing. They reported. We're going to keep the coach. We're going to keep the quarterback. We're not going to do anything. And I was like, oh, what? I felt horribly sad because.

"So I think for that reason, they probably don't want to make another move, but then you see a performance like this one. And it's just so lopsided. It's so ugly. It's a team that looks like it has absolutely no identity or direction. So it's like, well, where do you actually go from here? Yeah, I mean you stayed the whole week out there too. You're out west. It's not like you were unprepared for the trip. You know, the organization kind of shelled out the additional money to make that happen and to make it look competitive and I haven't seen anything out of this to legitimize another year, but it's interesting, Jenny, like, a lot of people just kind of blamed Dave gettleman flat out for this, but the reason that Jason Garrett was moved on from was because the team was so talented but not playing up to its capability. So it's like Dave gettleman had a hand in that too. You know, he made them theoretically talented on paper. And the underperformance part of it isn't necessarily in his control. So it's interesting to see how they kind of reason their way in and out of this and to your other point, it's hard. I mean, good GMs aren't going to take that job. You're going to have to take someone who's Friends with Joe judge with the understanding that you're going to fire that person too once you get rid of Joe judge. And that's really the only way you're going to be able to do that. I will say on the lighter side of things in this game. Not for the Giants, but for the Chargers. Justin Herbert made just a couple of spectacular throws in this. There was one where he was rolling right, ended up throwing back downfield to the other side of the left hatch. I don't know. I just last week when the Giants lost to the dolphins, Logan Ryan had made that sort of snarky comment about oh he's the Logan Ryan would be the emergency quarterback and he could do it like two works. He's just be wrong short again and again and whatever. Justin Herbert in this game delivered this touchdown of the middle of the field at the same sort of scrambled set his feet fired it, I don't know whatever it ended up being 50 something yards. To guyton against what was basically a cover four look, there were two safeties back there. They just didn't expect Justin Herbert to fire a laser on the run over their heads into the end zone. And they just sort of zoomed in on Logan Ryan after that touchdown and he just sort of had this blank stare on his face, just like looking out into the middle distance, just kind of, I don't know, maybe reassessing his life and what he thinks of quarterbacks at this point. But Justin Herbert just sort of, I don't know. It felt like he just ate away at a little bit of Logan Ryan's soul with that throw. Yeah, I mean, the Chargers have been a team that's a little bit hard to get a handle on this season because they've alternated wins and losses and you're never quite sure what to expect of them on any given week. But throws like the ones Herbert made today make you think that they're a team if they are in the tournament, Gary Ken. Thank you..

"We blame the quarterback. We blame everybody, but the name and I don't live in New York. I don't know what's being said in New York. But I know that nationally, people always talk about the coach and the quarterback. And this and that, the offensive coordinator, people, I think tend to forget the guy that picks the players often has an impact on how good the football team is. Dave gettleman is the biggest problem the Giants have right now in their franchise. How about Pittsburgh? Things are bad in Pittsburgh right now, too. Things are bad right now in Pittsburgh, they're one and two, they just lost to the Bengals and Cincinnati. Big bend their starting quarterback. By the way, the game I guess was actually technically in Pittsburgh. So they lost in front of their home fans. I remember seeing the here we go, sign in the background. I love that statement. It's beautiful. Big Ben, the starting quarterback of Pittsburgh had two interceptions against Cincinnati last week and week three. He's been very, very frustrating to watch this year in the NFL. And people are quick to call him washed up. I would say like, it's only three games. I don't want to get so caught up in the moment that I forget that the Steelers beat buffalo week one. It was a good win. Big Ben did it up to win that game..

All walks teen close to sixteen percent said the lakers. Five percents said the bucks but for mvp got kevin durant and so they got durant amd brooklyn. His team win the two most prestigious awards. What are your thoughts on it. I think they're right. And i'll give you my reasons. A they came within Kevin durant wearing a size fifteen from beating milwaukee with two players heard essentially. I know harden was out there chris but he was a shell of himself and kyw. We didn't play. So you look at that and you say man They they almost did that. That's the team that won the championship. Kevin durant foot is behind the line. The gets knocked out. They might win it all exactly. That's how close it was way atlanta. And here's the other part. The kevin durant had a you know. Chris didn't play much during the regular season. Had a great postseason and then look at what he did in the olympics. He's back. It's hard to look at him and even think about the injury like that's that's back am i right. He's all the way back and he didn't miss a spa step so i think they look at that and then they think they look at the odds. What are the odds. That two of the three guys are going to be hurt next. The odds aren't good that those guys are going to be healthy. And if they're healthy they will be hard to beat. We saw during the regular season. When chris they were playing two guys of the three and you remember ran off like nineteen out of twenty one or whatever knows who work hardening kyri not event. So i think that's why overwhelmingly experts have them while i'm with you in brooklyn. I just think they're their big three fits together. We'll play a little bit from from cohn or john. Mara who basically what we're going to play for. You is merit talking about expectations for twenty twenty one and talking about the future of dave gettleman. Should things go badly for the giants in the upcoming season. So let's let's get to that right now. What are your expectations for the season in terms of results on the field after really recent results haven't been we you want. I would say that's an understatement. I certainly think we're a lot better on paper. I like to see us. Show that on the field now and win more games. Make the playoffs. That's my expectation every year coming into the season. Obviously we've fallen far short of that the last four years but I think on paper on pleased with where we are. And i want to see some gangs here and i think the attitude on the team is really good and with the coaches So i i think i just have to be tried to continue to have some patients which is not easy for me giving the last four seasons and we've had but i do think david jar and a lot of good decisions and again i think we're moving in the direction or new for daniel year three It's kind of like stating the obvious. This is your four for him yet. Fifteen wins three years. Someone during in your mind. How much does that sort of same logic. Apply to him as well. It gets it the same for the entire organization. I i want to see us make progress and become a winning team again. We're overdue on that. And we spent a lot of money into free agency We've had a couple of really productive drafts now. Approved on the field by getting a result of why. Why's this not. let's let's see what happens. Let's see what happens during the season. Let's see what kind of progress we've made. You've always got a good backup much like you alluded to earlier. And i think jones could be someone where you'd wanna stash on your bencher is that potentially could have a huge year. But i'm not willing to go out on a limb and say i'm gonna wait till the tenth round and pick him. He's my number one fantasy football's on about that. This isn't the stock market. But that said either puts up her shuts up this year. And i mean he showed some flashes of brilliance and then the turnovers just completely sabotaged the games where he really looks like he's developing he's gonna be a star. Qb so too erratic for me right now but i think he's worth taking a flyer on the bench especially given the let's face it. The nfc's is completely week this year. Especially with defensive side of the ball and other redskins. Excuse me the washington football team show. Major has an excellent defense. But they don't it doesn't look like to me. They've improved on the offensive side of the ball. I think it's gonna put a lot of strain on them this year on. "Just to make sure that things don't spread around for any of the unvaccinated players i. I'm not sure. What the percentages of vaccinated and unvaccinated guys on the team. But i would assume that it's probably a pretty small amount that our unvaccinated again. This is just trying to keep things safe and healthy within the the the locker room so there is not any spread or just passing around the the the virus itself without actually getting any symptoms yet. And i wouldn't be surprised if we get a at least a ballpark number on. The percentage of the giants roster. That's vaccinated pretty. Soon i came out today. That about ninety percent of the jets roster is vaccinated. We also heard. I believe yet it was yesterday. Ron rivera complaining. That not enough of his players head gotten their vaccines yet. Which for him very valid complaint considering. He's a cancer survivor. Immuno-compromised but yet this is i think just going to be a a new story. We see different names but again and again a because even if you do have the vaccine you can test positive and yet we want these players to be as safe as possible. We don't want to see any kind of outbreaks happened in the locker room especially with the. Nfl's new rules. Where if a team has an outbreak and they have to have a game cancelled a game that can't be rescheduled than they forfeit. That and they suffer. All of the penalties involve draft position win loss. They could potentially knock a team out of the playoffs and we just don't want to see anything like that. So it's good that could area's. Tony is off list a. He's he had some trouble getting on the field over the course of the off season the giants really need him on the field for training camp. Just because you know. He is a rookie with really one year experience at wide receiver. He needs his as many on field reps as he can get blake martinez going on the covert list. Not great but the good news. Is there some time yet before they have to play a game and this isn't how you want to do it. But at least the giants get to get some look at their inside linebacker depth If you're looking for a bright side hopefully Martinez will be fine and office soon yen. I remember seeing that take. Crowder is probably going to get a lot of reps in this period of time so not having martinez. It stinks to see. Hopefully he's back out there quick. It seems like tony was back out on the practice field or not back on the practice field but available on off the list pretty quickly after being placed on it. So i doubt martinez will be on it for long positive as you said you get out of that take. Crowder is going to be getting some more opportunities to learn. And we're hoping that he's a guy who potentially steps into a bigger role this upcoming season and progresses from year one to year two. This is probably the bigger headline. Chris but the one that popped up pretty quickly today as recording this on wednesday kelvin. Benjamin the former panthers receiver converted to tight end listed and wrap to as a receiver slash tied in with the giants during spring practices. He was signed during the off season after being listed as a guy who was going to try to make that transition to tight end. He is no longer going to be with the giants. He's expected to be cut after a situation in which he went up and spoke to dave gettleman and joe judge and then he was asked to walk off the field so it seems like they made that decision pretty quickly. They don't really see him fitting within this roster as there's been some pretty big roster churn with some recognizable names or call armstead and here. We are now with kelvin. Benjamin who is back on the street after such a short stint and attempt at playing tight end position not super surprising for us as we we kind of we kinda lead into when we spoke on this the few times that we did in saying. It's highly unlikely that something actually comes of this. It would be nice if he turns into a tight end and can actually contribute but more likely than not he will not stick around the. There's a lot of talk about about the josh allen. Esq year three leap baker mayfield took a big leap as well. And the one thing that i can say is that it. From an organizational standpoint. The giants are not confused. The giants are all in on daniel jones. Dave gettleman is still the gm who drafted him. Joe judge as head coach. Y- wasn't wasn't with the giants when jones was drafted but judge has been all in in supportive jones The giants went all out this off. Season bringing in kenny golladay You know bringing in kyle. Rudolph bringing in devante booker as a backup running back for saquon. Barkley They went drafting. Could area's tony. They went all in to to try to put weapons around him. You know that that can show once and for all whether or not. He's the guy. The general feeling i think is because this is also dave settlements fourth year as general manager and i think they in the giants had losing records each year. You know of gentleman's tenure and there's some impatience even from ownership there some impatience. John mara said you know he's tired of losing. It's time to win some games. It's time for us. We feel like we're making progress. But it needs to show up on the field and there is a feeling that there will be some changes. Maybe at the general manager spot maybe at offensive coordinator may be at quarterback depending on how this season goes so this could be a make or break season for daniel. Jones could be a if he shows you enough then he gets to be the guy for the rest of his rookie contract. If he has another ten or eleven touchdown pass season like he did last year. You maybe the giants are convinced that they go in another direction. They do have two first round picks in the in the twenty twenty two draft. So they could if they had to. They could package those to move up and get a guy and start over. I don't think they want to. That's not the direction they want to go in. Breaking Down the New York Giants Initial Practice Squad
"Other thing going on with the giants roster is the shaping of their practice squad. We're not gonNA project who we think is going to be on the practice squad because as were recording it, we should receive some type of news by the end of the day Sunday, who is on the practice squad for some reason? You probably noticing this to the giants have been taking their time. To the fullest extreme to put in all this information, their fifty three man roster I think was announced. Ten or fifteen minutes after the required four o'clock deadline. Meanwhile, every other team had already gotten their stuff in before that chalk that up to Dave gettleman and Joe Judge trying to take their time in re be very detailed with it. They also this is official that we already talked about some of the claims but they have claimed offense tackle Jackson, Barton, wide receiver, Damian Rally, and then also safety Adrian Colbert they could either end up on the roster or be pushed to the practice squad. But the one thing that's worth noting and we're GONNA talk about the practice once official on another episode but it's worth noting that this season the practice squad is very. Very unique. It's bigger than it typically is and teams are going to be using it as a shuffling group that if someone gets sick, they can send them home quickly, sign them to come play right away they're gonNA travel. I would bet with most of if not all of these guys and have the bill availability to sign them immediately in the case of an emergency yet honestly to for me, that's kind of a step closer to what the practice squad should be anyway I I've never really liked the practice squad the way it has been where it's limited the guys who can be on it are very limited in the amount experience they can have and. They're really not protected at all. So any team can basically swipe a player off any other teams practice squad on very little notice. and. To me I I really do like these changes to the practice squad rules. The fact that it's bigger that the teams can keep more players around they don't have quite the same constraints on. Experience that we've seen in years past and the fact that they can promote guys from the practice squad to the active roster on basically ninety minutes notice. So I really like the flexibility that that gives teams and I'm sure we're going to be seeing teams take advantage of that this year probably in ways that the NFL isn't exactly planning on. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are certain aspects of this short-term practice squad for this season that are maybe tried to be translated into next year or come next CBS negotiation asked for by the players. So more players can stick around and be retained by their various teams it. It is a lot better like you said, Chris compared to way the way. That they've done it previously, it's better to have more guys if you can carry as many guys as they are allowed to this

Look I have a very one of the top running running backs in the NFL right now. Very Explosive Young Guy. That's going to be on the team for a while. And you look at your quarterback I think the the hard part would be the GM staying so maybe he would have more influence on personnel decisions so that could be an issue but as far as just players their offense they have the keys. That are there for winning. But defensively they're going to have to rebuild on defense. I'm sorry Dan. The point was made yesterday that while they announce it ghetto ones returning and could be in a tough spot if there are potential candidates out there and talked about this that want more of a say you know. There's a new age here. Where head coaches make a lot of the decisions and now they're kind of backed into a corner feel like that's the case around the League Eh? You know whenever you're talking about the coaching hiring process. And you know let's say we're discussing the giants situation in your talking with other perhaps candidates or other head coaches from other teams teams about what's going on. They'll always say did he get hope. Is he getting full. Control getting power. It's always the first question people ask. Because that's what they want because we've seen what happens when a head coach. She doesn't feel like he's the one that can make the decisions and it becomes frustrating and it usually doesn't work out. Why are people so all over the place with quarterbacks in particular in these drafts leading up to the actual draft those quarterbacks other most important position, not only football. Sports period. It has nobody has a clue about football. They know exactly what the quarterback does and how they operate. So with that being said with these quarterbacks flopping over the past few months and even weeks, it just shows how much lack of infield that we do have. And we're not ineffective. So we're not supposed the curtain back and meet with these guys person or gets to know them personally. So we don't know what's going on in the mind that they've got them in or these other executives going on around the league, Jordan. I respect the honesty right there. You're right. Still fun. It's all about so fun to read about I get and we got to do it, and it's fun to project different things. But I guess the reality is without let's say, there's no Andrew luck there, and nobody knows for certain who's going number one without that. It's hard to project these things and the GM's arm can give anybody Dave Gettleman not gonna come out and tell Joe giant fan or whoever in the media what he's going to do it his pick. Why should he right? Jordan. Right. I mean, we saw Jon Gruden sin their whole scouting staff home. So it just shows you just how secretive these plans are and no team really wants their hands shown or what is going to be revealed on draft. They so I think we're gonna we're gonna see a while. Right. If I'm not sure exactly what the giants are going to do. But I think they're going to get a lot of backlash if they somehow don't find the quarterback future. Whether that's at six or at seventeen so let's get into some specifics here, we're talking about Jordan Reed NFL draft staff writer for cover one host of the draft board podcast. You mentioned you think the cardinals are going to take collar Murray with the number one pick. Do you think that's a mistake? I was talking before about how an organization can hire new head coach draft a quarterback in the first round last year guy. What was the best quarterback coming out less? Your Josh Rosen. And then a you later fire the head coach cliff kings, Mary you could certainly argue whether that was a good higher. Not. And I don't think it is. And now take collar Murray with the number one overall picks. Do you think will be good pick a good move for this car does organization? To keep that number one pick and take collar Murray. I think it would be and I say or I'll put it this way cliff Kingsbury, everyone likes to point out just how fancy as offense is and how well operated at Texas Tech. But it really didn't work like a lot of people were saying that it worked should have work and with cliff Kingsbury, he's probably gonna get gonna get one chance to be an NFL head coach and what better way into your guy in there. He has no ties to Josh Rosen. He was not there when the team drafted him last year, and he has he doesn't have a freelance relationship with him. But on the flip side with Colin Murray. We've seen him and his offense and everybody seems famous video circulating on. If cliff gains vary ever had the overall selection that he without question would say column, Mary so I think with Kyla Mary why such a great fit in this offense. If you think about all the great young quarterback that entered the league over the past few years and even going back to last year with Baker Mayfield. Sam Donald Josh Allen. Even Lamar Jackson to an extent all of them have have had one. Thing in common, and that's having the ability to create all script or being able to operate and when things break down, and that's exactly what column or is able to do. But with Josh Rosen and the state of Arizona Cardinals off it's a front. I think if they're able to select calamari he can kinda relaxed weakness that they have a front just because of the lack just because of the -bility he has to create scripts though, I think he would be a really good fit in Arizona. Interesting fascinated see a if they keep the big if they do in fact, take him and see what happens with Josh Rosen. And then obviously how it's going to pan out because Kingsbury Murray will be must watch to see how that works out for the cardinals. If in fact, they team up who's the team most likely to trade down from two or three there's a lot of rumors teams will to trade down on this. Good debt specially defensively. Do you see the Niners? Do you see the jets maybe trading out of their top spots here? I think the night is it gonna take if they're just because they haven't used need off of the they don't have anybody there. Now, they did trae for deport but they still need some help off of the age. I think they're sit along the interior would force Buckner Eric St. and now with Solomon Thomas transition inside. So I think they're fine on the interior but outside of D Ford. They don't have any other threat coming off the edge. So you plays both in there with that young up and coming into your your, and then you pair would be Ford. I think that would be a really good combination of front now. One thing that's a really interesting spot is the New York Jets at three because is very wide open out there that they wanna trade back just because they don't think there's a lot of value there at that. But they only have six peaks. So they wanna get back and maybe regain some of those recoup some of those that they had to trade for last year when they acquire them darnold. So maybe they wanna trade back and still get that edge rusher that they need even if Quinton Williams or Josh Allen is there. And maybe they have those guys graded similarly on their boards day. Okay. With trade him back. Maybe six or seven is still getting a guy like a month with or somebody of that nature. Now who would be the team most likely to trade up with the jets for number three. See that's the biggest problem because this similar to last year's draft is that there's no quarterback that teams wanna trade up for third spot like a Sam darnold from last year. So it takes two to party and with a trade. They don't have a partner right now. I think but maybe some team has Haskins on their board. Maybe like Cincinnati at eleven I could see them or Washington trading. Alway from fifteen up to three now with a lot of draft capital. But I'm just using example, we have teams that could straight up. So that overall selection, right? And that's why it's intriguing when you look at what the jets having that number three big rumor to be wanting to trade out of it. I mean, if they don't think that Alan is war that I don't know what they're thinking there. I wanna get more picks back. Maybe get good players. Let's say the do trade, in fact with the giants team that, you know, look, it was rumored last year that that could possibly happen is rumored again this year. Because the giants won't their quarterback. Do you think the giants need to trade up from six to get there the quarterback that they want? I know Gettleman throwing out a lot of smokescreens here. But ultimately, do you think has gains or Jones will be there at number six for the giants thing Jones definitely will be and odd just don't really know about Haskins right now. Because last week we saw that he was going to be a top five selection this week. They're saying, right. Fifteen. So there's a lot of rumors out there. And we really don't know. But if the giants won't be sure I think they should trade up to the third spot to secure their guy. Just because if easier guys go hitting trade up and get him and don't wait on anybody. Just in case team jumps you. And now you're gonna be stuck maybe reaching on through lock or even Daniel Jones who do you like better out of those? I'm assuming you like Murray the best out of the quarterbacks. Give me your take on Haskins Jones. So I have it Murray at the top. And then I have happiness, and then I have locked and then have Danny Jones right after that. And I'm a big fan of the top two guys in Haskins emerge. And I say that because they are a bit different as far as this guilty. I don't know we talked about earlier folks here. What I love about him is. Yes, he's a one year start.

"And ladies and gentlemen, we have a new mock draft out Mel kiper Jr's three point. Oh is here with us. And we are looking forward to the draft. Mel will join us in just about an hour to talk about the new mock draft. But there have been some changes in the draft specifically one less quarterback. Now going in the first round then in mel's two point oh mock draft. So we have four in the two point oh mock draft with Daniel Jones from Duke rounding out of the last pick of the draft to the patriots in the first round of thirty two. There are only three quarterbacks now in the first round, according to mel's latest mock. And obviously a retirement might be a big reason why and the quarterbacks have changed as well. Right. As far as where they're they're going. Well, Cuyler he still has Tyler going number one derozan. Well in his last draft Cuyler going number thirteen to the dolphins. So now and this draft he hasn't going number one. He had. Dwayne Haskins going number six at a giant Kyle Murray. Going number thirteen to the to the dolphins. Drew lock going fifteen to the Redskins and Daniel Jones going thirty two to the patriots. So as you mentioned Daniel Jones now out of the first round, according to the latest mock draft by Mel kiper, just three quarterbacks Murray number one. The main says Dwayne Haskins at number six, and you start to hear reports that the giants may go defense was six and then was seventeen go quarterback. But right now twain Haskins at six and then drew lock sitting there at number thirteen for the dolphins. Does the only three quarterbacks in this latest first round. Yeah. Going to be very interesting because we know what the giants listen one thing. Dave Gettleman has made very clear he does not feel beholden to tell us his plan. And so I don't feel overly beholden to believe. A lot of what we're hearing coming out of the giants can't because if you've got a guy who's basic messages trust me, I got this. Well, then we understand he doesn't feel like he has to tell us the truth. So as we hear these things. Coming out. We also understand this time of year is about deception to an extent it's trying to manipulate the draft order trying to manipulate the opinions of certain players. So that you can try and put yourself in the best position to get the guys you ultimately want. So it makes it difficult to try and read the tea leaves it is although I have to say on cattlemans behalf. He said all of last spring saquon Barkley is a generational talent with the second overall pick. And that's where he went. Look, I think we all agreed. There has to be a quarterback in the giants future. Whether it's at six or seventeen trade now Cleveland, but it would not surprise me in the least if Dave Gettleman waited until the second or third round to take a quarterback this Dave Gettleman, he created that created, but he he made the term a more of a vernacular in the NFL draft hog molly's when he was the GM of the Carolina Panthers. He loves the big guys to hog mollies. And let's be honest. This draft is going to be decided outside of Kyla Murray. More than anything else about the big defensive lineman in this draft. The hog Molly is on the defensive side of the ball. So depending on your draft grades for your quarterbacks you could take one of those at six and then a quarterback at seventeen it all depends again on your on your draft great. If twain Haskins is highest on the board and draft grades. You don't pass that up. If you have a Dwayne Haskins drew lock. And whatever other quarterback equal in grades. You know, maybe use that seventeen pick baby can trade it up somehow to get one of those guys as I said, this always comes down to grades. Do. You have a choice amongst grades. Are you close enough in quarterbacks where if you don't get one you try and get the other? But we'll see we'll see, you know, one of the biggest changes in from the last two this for Mel was they had the patriots taken Daniel Jones a quarterback, and this one I serve Smith junior the tight end from Alabama going, and that would not be shocking at all you have really three out of the top tight end Hopkinson the kid from Iowa teammate, Noah Fant, and then Smith junior all three likely to go in the first round a three first round tight end to on the same team come on. And what would that tell you as we saw? The patriots jump into the first round and take a running back and Sony Michelle at the end of that. And now to see in the next year three tight ends going. We've talked about this. However, you want to split it. Last year were Quinton Nelson. Went in the top ten in the draft as an offensive guard. We saw roquan Smith going the top ten as a middle linebacker. The middle of the field is worthy. NFL is being built right now. And other teams are starting to catch up to what the patriots have done for years. The way that we've seen teams export that specific area and three tight ends in the first round would hammer that home not denying that. They are guys that are certainly probably more talented than usual tight end groups. We're used to seeing but it's also about value. It's why you see running back taking it to overall by the giants last year. I mean, the other thing is I think they're more interior linemen in this first round then quarterbacks right? Like, a not tackles guards and centers. There are more of those according to males latest mock than there are actual quarterbacks being taken which would be very unusual. So the top five in this new draft that Mel kiper put out is Kylie Murray. Number one of the cardinals Nick both the D N number two to the forty Niners. Number three. Josh Allen the outside backing backer pass rusher going to the jet number four Cornyn Williams. To the raiders and number five guy making a pretty big jump. Devon white going to Tampa Bay at five in the last mock draft he was number eleven to the Bengals now in mel's draft. He is sitting at number five number six twain Haskins seven Joon Taylor. The offense attack from Florida going to Jacksonville sweat, the D N going to the lions at eight Sean, Gary the D N going into the bills from Michigan and TJ Hopkinson. The tight end going to the Broncos at number ten. Here's here's what I wanted to talk to Mel about and one of the issues that I have laid on me big fella with with this draft comes, you know, some some point and one of them is there are few prospects in new first round projection who are making their debuts because of their combine performances. There are four guys who have jumped into mel's first round who weren't out there before again based on the combine combine performances. I don't understand that. I don't I don't understand that. If you wanna say. You looked at the combine to go back and look at tape of them. But to say, they're combine performance jumped them up that doesn't compute to me. Well, I think that's I think that's the assumption though, is because of their performance you went back and look and that. That's fair. That's why I want to ask them. How did this? Make you go back and study them more. Because if you're just basing things off the combine I got a real issue with that. Yeah. I I don't think you would do that or teams. But at the same time, you look at the positions of the majority of the players that would be involved in that. And I think this could be true for teams as well. It's interior offense. It is right. Three interior offensive linemen Terry McLaren the wide receiver, but when it comes to interior offensive lineman. You wanna talk about an area where the scouting grossly lags behind to actually great and overall draft. It's a difficult area for a lot of people to see and understand because you don't have the benefit of a lot of stats. You don't have the benefit of even the combine members necessarily always translating to production. So when those guys go and they paying and they flag in the model somewhere for what they do at the combine. And then you go back and spend some more time looking at a guy like Lindstrom who wasn't going to be a big name. He wasn't like, you know, Gary bradberry from North Carolina State won the Remington award this year. Like that guy was a stud Boston College was a middling. Okay. ACC team this year. So Lindstrom wasn't getting the credit. He deserved even being as good as he is. So you go back now, and even these NFL teams, maybe we're late to the party on some of these guys all of a sudden start giving them an extra. That's why I want to ask I just wanna make sure with Mel that because I'm just reading from the combine performance, and again, let's put a name. To those you mentioned McLaren the wide receiver who is one of the others. Chris Lynch reminder, you just mentioned from Boston College now. Number twenty one to Seattle Eric McCoy interior linemen going number twenty two to Baltimore. Right and the Garrett bradberry. The Senator from North Carolina State who is you mentioned one the Remington award is the best center in the country number thirty one to the LA Rams where they have an aging center, and John John Sullivan. And that was that was one of the things have been saying for the Rams the last couple of years that dynasties been built on the interior. If you land a guy like that good, Lord or you winning out it is. So we'll see how that plays out. Now, the one thing that I find interesting he he has drew lock the third quarterback Mel dozen his latest mock going thirteen in Miami. I'm telling you don't take out Denver at ten in Cincinnati of eleven in play for quarterbacks. I mean. Yeah. Denver made the play for Joe flacco. But John Elway has messed this up a couple of times with all due respect. I mean, that's just outside of getting Peyton Manning. He has not figured out the quarterback spot there at ten they might be in play for quarterback. And you have Andy Dalton with his situation with the Bengals and his contract situation. I, you know, I think that there's a really good chance that they could be in play with a quarterback there, by the way, by the way, Mel kiper Jr's mock draft not the biggest item related to the draft this week. Dwayne Haskins Throws with Giants Attending Pro Day
"Lot of pro days going on this week twos. Day. A large giants contingent including defensive coordinator James Becher was at Alabama on Wednesday. The Ohio State pro day where Dwayne Haskins was of course, the center of attention was attended by another large contingent of giants representatives head coach Pat Shurmur couple of the scouts several of the assistant coaches there to check out, you know, the the many prospects, you know, that that attend Ohio State, and we're working out today. We heard that the giants also had had dinner on Tuesday night with Dwayne Haskins. I'm not sure what to read into all of that. I look at it. Like the giants are simply doing due diligence getting to know as much as they possibly can about all of these guys entering the draft. So and also on Thursday as I said coming up, the Missouri pro day withdrew lock. I would intimidate once again, a large contingent of giants representatives to be in Missouri to watch lock workout. So, you know, it's it's an interesting time. You think maybe there isn't a whole lot going on. You know, the the main part of free agency is done the draft is a few weeks away. But there are still things going on still lots of intrigue, you know. And you never know what's going to happen. You never know what Dave Gettleman might do. But an awful lot. You know, continuing to go on at this point in time.

Giants are unlikely to franchise tag Landon Collins
"I will also say that I was in have been very much surprised over the past few days by what seems to be the giants willingness to allow Landon Collins to enter free agency Tuesday is the day when the giants have to decide whether or not to use the franchise tag on Collins to keep him from entering free agent. A week ago. I would have said that I thought it was pretty certain that the giants would do that. After listening to Dave Gettleman on Wednesday in Indianapolis. I'm not so sure I think that Gettleman talked a lot about distractions. He talked a lot about how upset players get when you use the tag on them. He talked an awful lot about eliminating distraction. He talked a lot about the financial ramifications of using the tag on Collins, and what that would do to the giants ability to improve their team and use their their Capri sources, you know, in free agency in other things. So to me, you know, I've been a little bit surprised over the past few months to be honest with you that there seems to be somewhat. Of disconnect between Collins in the giants. At least I have the impression that there is that they don't quite see things the same way, whether that's Collins value, whether that's the position in how he should be used you know on the field by defensive coordinator, James Becher. But I just don't think that the relationship between Collins and giants management is as healthy or as good as one would hope that it would be. A veteran scout told me that he thinks the consensus around the league at this point. Is that the giants will not tag Collins that they will allow him to test the free agent market. And at this point, I have to agree with that. It's you know, much to my surprises. I said I would not have felt that way a week ago. But I think that I think that Collins is going to be allowed to test the market, and we'll see what that does to the giants defense will see how that we'll see how all of that plays out soon enough.

NFL Rumors Mailbag: Kyler Murray, Justin Houston Trade
"Yeah. What this is shocking to me in the sense that when we were having this discussion about quarterback musical chairs in the fall. My thought had always been the Jags are going to draft a quarterback. And it still seems to me like the more prudent direction here is for them to move up for Golic Hoskins or Murray rather than giving Nick foles twenty million dollars a year when you're already over the cap, it just I just don't understand what if the answer is both. And what I mean by this is that Dave Gettleman came out and said the sin. I think this has the opportunity to be very dumb trend around the league. But did other came out and said, we'll work was the Kansas City mom's it's stupid way to think about which is adding a veteran die on a legitimate contract. And then the guy learning behind him. Now, I don't think that them bring in foles precludes them from taking quarterback in the first two rounds. I don't know if they bring in foles, obviously at a number like twenty they're not gonna trade up into the top five, but they could still draft a a significant future starter quarterback type guy. Now, I think is a couple of things we need to to sort of peel back on with the Kansas City model first of all not everybody's gonna be Patrick Mahomes. Second of all the infrastructure in Kansas City was so remarkably good perfect. They basically structure had Nagy and and read working with Smith and they assigned Mike kaffa to Patrick Mahomes. And so you. Had not only Mahomes working with Alex Smith every day working with read in in meetings. But also anytime he needed something explained to him. He basically had the quarterbacks coach at his disposal. The infrastructure and other places is not going to be like that. There aren't three really smart or four because out include Eric b enemy in that. There are not four really smart innovators in thirty one of the other teams in this league. So if you're going to try the Kansas City, Molly better have Kansas City coaches, and you'd better have talent like Patrick Mahomes need better have a leader like Alex Smith. I just think that was a unicorn if you want to replicate a good luck. It does not make sense to me to allocate your resources in that way. If you're going to sign Nick foles, the idea of drafting a quarterback in the first two rounds, you are team that is built to win at this very moment. That's why you're signing foles using a high level draft pick on a quarterback while also burning twenty million bucks on your starter that I I have no idea. Why teams think that's a good? It's the same thing. The cardinals last year paying Sam Bradford what they did. Wall dressing. Josh Rosen like just put him in just put him in. I it's Mahomes is such a different case in that team was on such a different part of where they wanted to go in their schedule. The Jacksonville Jaguars are there. But why would you tr what would you also draft the guy? I just don't understand that at all. I don't know teams plan specifically. But there are a lot of teams don't know what they're doing. No. There are a lot of towns lie they're doing I don't know if anybody's looked into the last the NFL's celebrating one hundred years and one of the Constance is like my field of dreams speech. The only constant is a lot of teams and have no idea what they're doing my favorite part about. This is gonna be what happens with the offensive line market the players in the pass rushing market or good enough that even with those top four guys off giving Dante Fowler big deal or Trey flowers Iansa. There are players I like in that group more than others. But I'm still okay. With a guy like trae flowers. Getting paid. But it's going to be amazing when the guy Daryl Williams is off the board and then Roger Sappho than teams like, well, we're the Donovan Smith winners five years sixty million.
