Oh, I need to do that. I haven't done that yet, but I need to do that because I sticker up my iPad case quite aggressively. Oh, that's fun. Yeah, I put their stickers that say, this has been a journey. You come up with some great kind of like one liners and you're like the cousin Joey of this podcast. That's a good one liner. The cousin Joey of this podcast. Yeah, I mean, for our listeners who might not be familiar, cousin Joey is a character on the 80s and 90s sitcom full House. Played by Dave Coulier. Also, I need to apologize because I have come down with a head cold and I am a little like scratchy throaty. Not COVID, a 100% ahead cold, which is annoying. It's fine. But if I'm sorry, so I'm. Guessing. I was just gonna say, if you feel like an actual coughing fit coming on, just mute yourself. I will, I will, and I just wanted to just flag it, 'cause it literally I got on to record this podcast and all of a sudden the need to clear my throat became very pervasive in my chest. So I just wanted to note note that. And you know, I did want to take a moment before we get started just to note what is happening in Iran, you know, you and I are not experts on, I mean, you tell me, maybe you are, but on the political history of Iran, nor mine expert on what's going on necessarily with the protests that are happening. Now, other than knowing what I've read in the news, which I think many of us are aware in which a young woman, masa, meany, was killed by what is called the morality piece, excuse me, morality police for not properly wearing her hijab and covering her hair correctly. And there are massive protests going on in Iran. And I just wanted to include a couple of links about it. So that people can catch up or read about ways to help from what I've read and what I understand and chime in or listeners, you please chime in, call me in on this, but it's my understanding that what the protesters on the ground there and this is a really a women led protest have requested is amplifying what's going on on social media. So that still seems to be the best way to support them. So I just wanted to flag that that is something that we are obviously aware of. And following as individuals and, you know, support that movement and also, you know, I think it's reflective of many movements that are going on across the globe, you know, in India, they're banning hijab and women there are fighting to wear it, we've got a lot of shit happening here in America that you all are really aware of, so I just wanted to, you know, just wanted to flag it. Thank you for flagging. I also, I also want to flag that as we are recording hurricane Ian is hitting Florida. And when we are recording this, we don't know yet kind of like what sort of destruction it will be bringing, but it doesn't seem great. So I just want to send love and support to our Friends and listeners who are affected by the hurricane. Thank you for noting that story. And I think like you said, we don't know yet at the time of this recording, but if that changes will be sure to include links to ways to help in our show notes. Yeah, I think it's great. It doesn't. No, it's pretty scary, actually. Yeah. And you just forget until you are made aware once again of the power of mother nature and the ways in which destruction can happen. And possibly amplified by climate change. So, man. Well, on that uplifting note, switching. We're just going to kind of get right into it, I think. We're going to switch gears in a major way right now. They are literally doing a 360 U turn in the middle of a one way street, right? We are turning the car around and then driving over the car. Well, we're doing a one 80. If we did a 360, we would be back where we started. That's true. That's true. That's one 80. That's one 80. And I do just well, first I want to note, Kate, that several listeners told us about Caroline's episode of G thanks. Working talks about hotel collection. Which is I miss the video. It is episode 84 according to one of our listeners who sent us the actual episode. So can I say something? This all clicks on my brain because the place, the one place where I had experienced hotel collection before, actually, I think it was a Jackie Johnson's house. But maybe also a Caroline's house, Caroline has hotel collection, but I was at Jackie's house recording an episode of natch bute. And she had hotel collection, and I remember being like, what is this? And she was like, oh yeah, baby. You know, Jackie's like, oh yeah, honey, everybody has you got to know this. And then it all has come kind of like riling back with the reminder that Caroline of course was Caroline knows everything. Has already talked about it. So people are on it. I haven't made a purchase yet because I'm overflowing in candles and smells, but let me tell you, I want to. I want to. So thank you everybody for. Okay, yes. Thank you, everyone for bringing that to our attention. Now, Kate, as you recall, you mentioned a couple of weeks ago. That your dog had eaten your retainer. How can I forget? And

Of course, there's also the possibility that it's just about lying and it really is about, all right, let's get through this year and then we'll have we'll have at least one high pick. We'll have the Broncos pick as well. We can move up in the draft and we can end up with a brace younger CJ Stroud or another quarterback at the top of the draft. So, I mean, there's a lot going on there mentally. When I see what's coming out of Seattle, I mean, we could get a psychology saw and really have an interesting discussion of the mindset going on. bestselling author Michael Lewis He has written so many seminal books so many seminal tomes on Wall Street from liar's poker the new new thing The big short flash boys the premonition on and on and on it goes he is out with season three of his podcast against the rules and he also created a series of short discussions about liar's poker which celebrated its 30th anniversary right before the pandemic you can get that either as an audiobook the print book or listen to the audio companion that he's put out on other people's money Michael Lewis welcome back to Bloomberg Good to hear your voice Same here same here So for the people who may not be familiar with you let's just do a brief background You graduate from Princeton and you head to Wall Street to make your fortune where you are pretty much rejected You don't get by Lehman Brothers but eventually through a crazy story you tell and liars poker you end up at what actually is the hottest firm in the world Solomon brothers how soon after you arrived at Sally did you realize this is a really unusual place Well I'll tell you I'll tell you two stories and you can decide which one is true because I actually don't remember The first story is I told myself I thought I told myself look I know I want to be a writer but no one's paying me to be a writer And I can get $90 an article writing for The Economist of The Wall Street Journal op-ed page or I can go take this job for a huge pile of money I can make some money And then figure out how to be a writer I think that's what was on my mind But I walked in I knew even before I walk into the place that it was a really interesting place I mean if you just go back and look at how much at Solomon's profits compared to the rest of Wall Street in say 1983 84 they may it was like they made more money than all the rest of Wall Street It was just they were clearly in some other business even if you didn't know what it was you'd say something's weird is going on here And I get there And it's raucous I mean it's crazy The training program is a frat house that the trading floor isn't even better for a house It's intellectually stimulating It's actually the false kind of presentation of Wall Street at the time was that these investment bankers that people in the investment banking department start out as analysts then become associates that work their way up to vice presidents And they're meeting with CEOs and they're doing the M and a transaction and all that That that's where the actual intellectual life was That if you were a really good student that's where you went And if you were like just had greasy elbows you went to the trading floor You had already published a column at The Wall Street Journal while you were working at Sally that got you into trouble that had the most hilarious resolution tell us about the compromise that was reached when you published under your own name Maybe a year and a half into my journey there I published an article in the op-ed page of The Wall Street Journal Arguing that investment bankers were overpaid And it said at the bottom Michael Lewis is an associated Solomon brothers in London I was so excited I was in The Wall Street Journal I thought when I came in the next day people would be slapping her in the back oh wow You got a piece of the journal I thought I thought everybody could be happy for me And to the London office in the next morning And Charlie mcshay who I had adored who ran the whole Solomon brothers international and had been the one who hired me was waiting at my desk Ash and faced And he hadn't slept And he said we've had meetings with the board of directors overnight about your piece Because it's being apparently going to be reprinted all over the country and people are talking about a client And he said he said you can't.

"And we started to really understand not just bob, but what the movie meant, which is taking things that are sacred and flipping them upside down and inside out, making comedy of it. And nothing is too fragile to make fun of and since then, Robin became our very good friend and I started to really love bob because he trusted me with that moment. I trusted him. And ever since then, we would do all sorts of adventures together we would travel together. We would eat together. We had many fun meals we used to eat. And there was no one more fun at a dinner table with bob. He's nonstop jokes and always knew what to order and what restaurant. You know, he'd call me up at 5 30 in the afternoon and say, meet emergency, I need some beef ribs, meet me at the Brentwood in 45 minutes. I'm like, bob, I'm in Hollywood. You got to give me, he's like, no, no, no, you can make it. I mapped it out. Let's go. I got a reservation. They got one rack left. Let's go. And it was almost like I put a siren on the top of my car. We had a meat emergency. Of course, I mean, what's more emergency driven than meat? I mean, that's basically worked in the meat business. And my dad was a kosher caterer. So we would bond over meat stories. I remember one night going to craigs with you guys, and when we went home, I said to rich, I feel like I had a workout. Because it was literally like an intellectual workout going to dinner with bob because the jokes would fly so fast and so furious and he's, again, so irreverent that sometimes you'd feel almost exhausted after a dinner. Bob did old talking and that was a fun thing. And what it was just me and him, you know, he had this patriarchal quality about him he was a data on TV. He was America's daddy at three daughters. And when it was just me and him, I always had this thing with him. I'd buy him dinner. And I'd get the check. And he loved that because no one ever really bought him dinner. He was always expected to buy because he was the rich guy. But you know, we all have expenses and he had a lot of overhead and a lot of a lot of people to take care of. So my sister, Robin, is a special and teacher on bainbridge island up in Washington state. And she called me right after bob passed, and she said, of all the people you've ever introduced me to, which is many, bob was the nicest. Well, he was the kindest and I think that one thing that people didn't realize about him because they either heard my dog looks my balls, they heard something so ridiculous or they saw him as Danny Tanner, what I think was so crazy about him is very few people really knew him. And those of us that were lucky enough to be in the inner sanctum knew a person who was extraordinarily kind was an incredible dad. You know, he and I bonded over his daughter's migraines. That's how we became such good Friends. I met him through Jonathan silverman the actor. And I had mentioned that I had a migraine. He told me all about his daughter and that's how we bonded and he never forgot it. He always reminded me 20 years later, you know, you helped me with my daughter all that time ago. And one thing that I've taken from bob's passing almost more than anything is the need to tell people that you love them at the end of a conversation. I thought, I think it was that you or was it John Stamos at the memorial who said everybody get out your phones? And look and see your last text from bob. And what does it say at the end? It said, I love you. And you know, these days, don't you need to hear that even more than ever? We do. And especially during a pandemic, you know, bob's podcast was called, I'm here for you. And he really was. That was John who said that at the memorial, and to be honest, Suzy, I haven't been able to look at my text from bob. Because I'm just not there yet. I haven't been able to watch any video. I landed back from Paris and this is everywhere and it's like, it's not real to me. It's still like a cartoony version like he's playing that talk to Dave Coulier today. I talked to stamos last night. None of us have really let him go yet. Are you supposed to mourn and move on experienced a lot of loss on that? Something that I bonded while on over early on. You know, we both lost his sisters. I lost my parents. Young age. And we would talk to these things. We're built as human beings to more than then move on. And I haven't quite got to the moving on phase of this yet. I had lost a lost really good friends, but no one that I relied on quite like bob. If you needed a recommendation of doctor, a lawyer, a real estate, he understood the business. Breakups, you know, he would, he showed up at my house once and two in the morning took me to ASTRO burger for a pastrami sandwich. You know, after a bad breakup and I'm crying over my pastrami sandwich, it is Lexus. Bob gave me a pep talk that lasted longer than the whole relationship. I was crying about it. Yeah. He really was a good, solid friend. And.

"Well, John mono and John Martin and John Martin couldn't come too. We had to hit his head with a two by four to wake him up. The point is we all did it. We've all done it with ready with cans. And then passed around this story that he said, a long time ago. He told a story he wrote a book called dirty daddy. He says some of these stories in his book about how that one day him and John Stamos and Dave Coulier, you know, we're always cracking raunchy juvenile jokes when they worked on that show. And they raided the prop closet to do whippets while the film crew of all the crew films scenes for the birthday party of Michelle Tanner, which was played obviously by the Olsen twins. And bob said he grabbed Dave and John, and they went into the prop room backstage and they locked the door, opened the fridge, and they are 6 cans of whipped cream ready whip, nitrous oxide is dangerous. They did it. They had some fun, but it didn't really work. And they were all they all went back to the set with whipped cream on their faces and shirts. It's funny. It's funny. Don't make the guy to be a crazy person because he sucked on a ready whipped can or he flirted with his marriage with shit or he got behind the wheel a little toasted after his divorce. Come on, that's life. That's literally a describing a wonderful man. I mean, I can't, I can't let people. The length that go to to try to paint somebody into a certain type of individual. It's just not fair. I'm so open and honest with this shit I said, boy oh boy, am I going to be painted black when I die? Christ, the class are going to stop when I die. Everybody's upset about their looks, apparently. These fucking people in Hollywood, there was no Golden Globes. We didn't see that. No one missed it. No one missed it. Now we hear the Oscars in March may have a host again. And I think I have just the name that's going to make everybody watch. The rumblings are that Spider-Man Tom Holland will host the academy of are you kidding me? Is he 5 5, he's in the 5 5 and under club. I enjoyed Spider-Man. He's not an Academy Award host. This is for Johnny Carson. David Letterman, Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal. These are for giants. Not for little marvel boys. Stop this nonsense. Hollywood has lost their mind. And as a result, since no one's paying much attention to them anymore, Andrew Garfield, who's going to be up for an Oscar for tick tick boom, we know that's coming. He had to let everybody know he was passed over. He was passed over for the film, the chronicles of Narnia. He was up for the role of prince Caspian, but he got passed over. It went to the actor Ben Barnes, but Garfield heard from people that didn't think he was good-looking enough. And he's making that his story. You know, when these actors go around town and talk about stuff as we get closer to the awards season, which we're in right now, they have to come up with stories backstories, funny things that they could share that people, oh, did you hear that story? He's really funny. I hope he wins. It's all bullshit. It's all bullshit. I didn't, why didn't I get the role he has this agent? Why not me? He said, and his agent finally broke down and she said, they didn't think you were handsome enough. That's the thing about an agent and a manager. I never really understood that. You know, I sometimes I want to sit in with meetings or sit on phone calls when my management, my agents were negotiating a deal and they'd say, no, if you don't, you can't do that. Why not? I want to hear what they say about me. And my late manager of Howard the Peters would say, you don't want to hear anything they have to say. They're ruthless. They talk about your weight, your face, your looks, your teeth, everything about you. You can't. You can't only weaken hear that. We'll protect you. And it's true. It's sad, but it's true. But Kristen Davis, who was on the show that I hope none of you are watching and just like that. In the middle of all this nonsense we're going through in the world, Kristen Davis, like Andrew Garfield, has to tell everybody that it still hurts her that people judge it by a looks. You know, I want to scream when this girl says this, first of all, I do judge her by looks now. She used to be a cutie pie. I think she did allow a ball and something happened to her insides. They got black inside and signed to come out of it from the outside in. On the inside out, she's so self serving and narcissistic now, her smile has changed completely because of all the Phyllis on her face. People are judging her now because the way she's made herself look, not because she's aged gracefully, it's because the way she's aged herself with cosmetic proceeded and by the way, I just got to thinking the other day of what a what a hand grenade fell in the middle of that cast. Chris north destroyed. Cynthia Nixon, I'm gay. I have a transgender kid. Kim Cattrall was like, fuck this. I'm leaving everybody. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, do you think the marriage is real or not? Is she a beard? It could be people don't really know. I tend to lean that way that she is. I don't see him being heterosexual in the sack. I could be wrong. But then you get to Kristen Davis. Who doesn't like the way she looks anymore. And by the way, wants attention, it dawned on me. She wants attention, do you know why? Because she's in the club. She's in this secret club. I never thought she was in the Charlize Theron club. Then Naomi Watts club, the Angelina and Joe league club, the club with women who have black children. Yes, I didn't realize that Kristen Davis has two adopted black children of boy and a girl and I am betting you right now. So she can make herself feel better and maybe rock it up to the top of that club. One of her children, I bet she's hoping every night will be transgender. It's just a hunch I have, I could be wrong, but Naomi's beater, Charlize Theron's beater, Angelina was beating out with Shiloh, but now Shiloh is back to being a chick. I don't know. It's all everything's in flux. But if Kristen Davis can just have one of her kids, if both of them transition boil boys, she on top of the roll. But if just one plus this show and just like that, suddenly Kristin Davis will rock it up to the top of top near Echelon. Of the club. You heard him first. I made a benzo. That was your show. Sometimes i talk. I'll never own. If congress had jewish united states had had some hold on along will ladies and gentlemen that was daily. Pike and as you can hear from his humor he's really good with an audience very funny and as i mentioned earlier made his money as an audience. Warm up professional doing dozens of shows between nineteen eighty in two thousand tan. He's a very funny guy. And i know you enjoyed that and now coming up are closing headliner for this show and we have a treat for you. One of our favorite acts going way. Back to nineteen eighty. This particular live. Set was taped in nineteen eighty-five and it's a very funny comic. Dave who. I know you know the name. He was a regular on the tv show. Full house and more recently fuller house. But he's done much much more than that. He was the host of america's funniest people. And if you didn't know it he did a lot of cartoon voices he did. The voice goes on the cartoon. Show the real ghostbusters. He was in the muppet babies movie where he played animal and bunsen. And you've heard him on. Shows like scooby doo and also american dad. He's done voices for many many cartoon shows and is an actor and his very funny comic in fact he started working for us as a featured act was brought up by bob saga back in nineteen eighty one and ended up working the club many many times. It became a very close friend so much so that he did actually join us for my bachelor party. Back in nineteen eighty-four. Hey let's just introduce our closing headliner. One of the best in the business. I know you'll enjoy the short set. Recorded live in nineteen eighty five. It's dave coue. Thank you very much. It's nice to be a part of this show. They told me it was going to be a color show so i dressed appropriately. That's the people. Now who just willie tyler and lester. Go up now. They went out to get a pop or a sandwich or something. They're going to come back into the room. Now look at the and go hunting. The color just blew out on. So i'm trying to get back into shape. Everybody's trying to get into shape. Nobody ever lets themselves go and try to get out of shape. Nobody ever says you know. I'm going to drink about two of beer at mcdonald's and about ten big macs and try and balloon up to about four fifty this month. A friend of mine was telling me said you know dave. Losing weight is the toughest thing to do. I would think losing height would be a little tougher. Don't you are jumping. Jacks with a safe on your head. Ready feel those knees buckle. Yeah all right. Start becoming a couch potato. You know sitting there laying on the couch. I come in here dump some sour cream on may. Yeah you forgot to wrap me in ten foot. Could you just poke me. A few times are starting to heat up here watching tv. That's how i grew up though as a kid. I used to watch television saturday morning. I used to get up. And watch cartoons. Remember that remember now. I got hooked on cartoons. When i was a little kid. I used to get up with my pajamas on the feet in the bottom. How many want to admit they had those. Yeah great you walk around all morning. That long slopping out hey hey mom shot plans. I'll dust all house okay. That tv set cranked up at five thirty in the morning on saturday. Because you figure i'm up. Shouldn't everybody get up wine. I used to watch those cartoons. Some of my favorites. I used to watch. No maybe there was some of your favorites. I used to watch sherman and peabody in their way back machine goofy music and the beginning kind of went up little statues of famous people with drew's by one would follow him a little man with a moustache. Sweep up sherman. Glasses on and go. Well mister peabody well. Sherman pursued performance. I realized there might be some older folks in here gone hill. I just don't get it. I don't know we had some great shows. Of course the jetsons are back for forty two new episodes coming back out and yeah they're bringing back. The original cast.
