"Financial aid. Dave Caruso. More records on the market, But where do we go from here? Good morning, Dave. Good morning. Yeah, it's it's kind of soft morning, but you know, we got some pretty decent news just yesterday, and we talked about the NASDAQ and its first records since February, So that's some good news. Smp kind of rallied a little bit Dow down a fraction, So if I look at the range now it's It's nothing exciting, but hopefully we can kind of move on. But there's a lot going on this week. The president's preparing to talk to the nation on Wednesday and we'll see what it looks like and We're going to hear a lot about infrastructure and taxes and $600 billion of we gotta figure out what to do and talking about their taxes. So there's a lot to deal with their also, we've got another big margin call. Remember that big one? Well, Archie goes, it hasn't stopped. It's now 10 billion in losses as you Bs and a murder got sucked into that as well. So this thing continues to lingers and It's probably not helping the market as well. We got some good news and real estate, though the hottest property right now in the U. S. That happens to be a no Idaho And also we got the case Shiller numbers today. They were up 12% in the 20 cities, so there's some pretty good numbers there. Also, we've got the consumer confidence today. We'll see how confident we are, hopefully will come out in a couple of minutes. Also, we've got the Microsoft and Google probably gonna do. Okay. Lift to selling a division a little bit. And this is a barrage again. We've got a lot going on. We've got Tesla Looks like they turned in a mixed review. So not great. But okay, but it seems like they've made a lot of money on Bitcoin as well. G a little bit of a mess. Eli Lilly, a bit of a miss, Uh ADM is missing it and ups and also Gamestop still out there, so we'll see what happens. Give it some time. And maybe it'll grow with the weather. Caruso. Thank you. It's 9 27. Getting your kids out of the house might be hard with so much great stuff on Netflix and to get them a haircut Hard day for everyone involved at Sharkey's. We.

"Route three sap on coming up to 1 28 in Burlington. That's eased out for us. Finally, Laurie granted WBC's traffic on the three wonder if something is wrong, and we're overly excited to see some sunshine and we can see it, making its way towards the Boston area right now. The four day WBC. AKI Weather forecast here's meteorologist in DeVore, and so whether professional, there's nothing wrong with getting excited about sunshine, especially when we've been kind of mired under this influence of this coastal low forever and ever on, man, But it's finally you're right, lessening its grip. Brighter skies coming in that little burst of light snow that we had just similar to yesterday because of this kind of cyclonic turn. It happened again today and it's eased out. Maybe a few more flurries down on the cape in the coast. But everywhere should get more sunshine this afternoon. Briskin a seasonably chilly days We get up in the upper thirties to near 40. Tonight, we'll see clouds increase late temperatures clear at the start at least mid twenties in Boston teens in the suburbs. Thought of being clouding or quickly in the morning tomorrow, and I think if we get to mid day there's a mixture Rain, sleet and some snow probably goes over to rain at the coast fairly quickly out of our hair by the evening behind 42 wet, messy in the city, a little slippery north and west Saturday, brisk and colder with some sunshine, a high 37 then near 40 on Sunday. I think the city's dry we may get some ocean effect snow showers with that coastal Oh, passing by on the Cape and the islands. And there may be some interior New England Snow showers later Sunday, the Monday but I think in between we stay mainly dry here in Boston with the BBC's exclusive, accurate or I'm meteorologist in divorce clouds and 32 here in Boston. "A wild ride this week on Wall Street. All the majors fell by about 2% today, the Dow losing 620 points for its worst week since October, WBZ Financial analyst Dave Caruso lets us in on what happened here say it was all about Gamestop said It was in the sense that they had a 23 100% return s O Everybody saying What do I do where we go? How do I participate in this? So all of a sudden? Kind of took this the slate and it wasn't just now, and they were like 13 other companies so people and traders were starting to bid up in the process. They call it so as a result of that we had had two regimes. We have the old timers and you know there was a different generation, and we have kind of a new timers who are now trying to figure out how to buy stock. So all of these things kind of got into force, and now we've got some issues that we have to deal with. And Dave says average investors have to be really careful if you want to get into this kind of trading. Don't talk about Short squeezes. They're no good. Stay away from that and the olden days, And when I was on the desk, they used to call it pumping and dumping. So the reality is we'll come back. And this thing will probably come back as well. Also had great earnings. I might say Apple, their earnings were actually up. You know, I had 100% $100 billion They did pretty well. And the earnings, as I said, did pretty well But ah, lot of all until it E this week in my senses were probably going to come back with A little bit more stability is there are a bunch of errors that took place over this week, but we got through it. And that is Dave Caruso from coastal capital in Danvers. Right, 6 27. This is an age old questions way. We don't have an.

"And 44 in Boston and Danvers. It's 9 25 Wanna check in now with Dave Caruso at coastal Capital? A lot to talk about day first off, you know, End of 2020 Final day. How were the averages? How would you sum it up? Um, how about lousy? Yeah, but you but, you know, I gotta put it in perspective with with what we had with the caveat that we had with all that was happening with the pandemic. I think we did. Okay. But if you look at the entire year, and you look at where we are right now, and what the history has been last year, if you took the three major averages that the Dow actually was up 6.6% for the year despite all the problems The S and P was up 15.5% and the NASDAQ was up 43% of 2020 so much better than I want Anticipated lousy numbers this morning. Not much going on pretty as you know. Pretty slow as we look at it, but this is the closing of the year and I guess we'll take it. Considering all of the issues that we had. We still got a lot more coming. We've got the hospitalizations. We've got the jobs numbers coming out today, and I wish I could tell you they were good, but they're not. You know where we've got layoffs, and we've had a lot of problems to work through, but much better than I anticipated, anyway. Also looking at small businesses were trying to get them right. The one thing I think is very interesting, though, is that we had a lot of typos and there's 167,000,000,454 offerings, so there was things happening, but we could use a lot more on the upside, so we got through it the years behind us. Let's go on. All right. Dave Caruso over a coastal capital. Thank you. Always. As always, For your wisdom, it is 9 27 show certainly a lot of wise happening in a year 2020 coming up next at 9 30. "Been, but this kind of missing in action going on right now. But right now, looking at the futures the good news this word now at record highs now, yesterday, we kind of tailed off a little bit with a lot of concerns with what was going on in Washington and Trump and Where is he? And what's going on. But right now down, looks to be up somewhere between 62 86. So that's a positive number s and P 500 looks to be upright between 10 and 13. So that's positive, and the NASDAQ is up between 48 57. So I think those are pretty good numbers. As we go through this and again record highs will take it again, even if it doesn't feel that way. So we're still trying to figure out how to hammer out the stimulus and It looks like it's now the $600 number versus the 2000, but it looks like hopefully, at least checks are going to start sometime next Tuesday. And we don't know if you know who blocked this. But who cares? Let's try and get this money going as fast as we can also looks like the Fed the Treasury. They've extended the cut off date from Main Street lending on December 31st. So we get a little extension there, which I think will help. Just a little bit. Also continue to deal. What's going on with the hospitals and the surgeon going on. Also, we got the Chicago purchasing managers index coming up. We've got pending home sales and wholesale inventories actually did just a little bit. So we're still looking on the vaccine trail. But right now positive and let's hope we can kind of see a little bit more of the good news and this is the anniversary of which we first also heard the yuan. So this has been one year. And it's not been a great one. So let's hope we can move a little bit better and faster. All right. "Do you see much activity on a day like this A short day right before the holiday? Almost never. You know, it's just although this year has been interesting, but this has been one of those crazy years. It's been kind of a wild week and a lot of years, So I guess we're going to continue that, but usually there's not a whole lot going on. We're kind of sitting back and relaxing a little bit. So looking at the future is right now. We're kind of okay. You know, It's been a flat week. Right now. That does looks to be about 42. SMP looks to be up about five NASDAQ up about 12. So you know, this is a Christmas Eve. So we got a holiday shortened week. So we're gonna be closing at one o'clock, so I don't think people are rushing out to do a whole lot of anything, although maybe the malls will have a little bit more activity. Also, we've got the case of the Santa relief bill with the president's signing. We're gonna get a lump of coal or we're gonna get nothing. So there's a lot of going on right now to try and figure out this mess on that $900 billion. Program that we thought was already done, so we're going to fight with that a little bit. Also President had about 26 pardons, So I guess that matters a little bit. There's going to be busy on some of that and going to be some controversies, unsure household spending a little bit off, But if you look at what's going on right now, On the plus side, we've got the vaccine. They're still powering forward Despite some of these European woes with the new strain, so things are pretty good out there on that side. Vito Defense Authorization Act, and we'll see if that happens, and they're still fighting with those 602,000 checks. So I don't think there's gonna be a lot here, but we do adjourn. Ah, next Tuesday. Looks like we're gonna go fight another day. But right now it's been a rough that's quiet morning. So let's proceed for that and say, Happy Christmas Merry Christmas to all of you and appreciate it and let's see what we can do for the rest of this week. Thank you, Dave. Dave Caruso checking in at 9 27 And as Dave said the market does close early today at one o'clock, and Dave also mentioned the president vetoing annual defense bill that action will set up a fight in Congress will get to that story coming up next in the news at 9 30. "Experts on cutting edge Innovations Hybrid and safety technology Toyota and it's time now for a check on some business news as we're joined Live by Dave Caruso of Coastal Capital Day. We've got that. Jobs report out this morning, not what people were looking for. From the markets or really from anybody. But what is that going to do today? On Wall Street? Yeah, it's not helping is we're looking right now. We're kind of okay. Dow's up about 122 95. I saw kind of bouncing back and forth this morning s and P's only up about 11 Nast accept 31, So that's okay. Gold, silver oil enough, But you're right. It is the jobs numbers. We We fell a little bit short. There's no two ways about it. And you know we're kind of goal going through the values that we go through because there's a lot of data coming out. But you know, they're seeing some layoffs that is easing a little bit and you know they became can be giving with an anomaly. So there's a little bit of concern, I think is we're kind of maybe looking into the data a little bit more than we should. Looking at what's going on this week continues. We've got again. We've got the Biden administration looks like pouches onboard, So we'll see what happens. There is we talk about 100 days of masks. We've got the stimulus. I think that's really key. There are potential signs that if Senator McConnell and the two can get together, that we could actually get some things going, But right now, not so much. Unemployment was a 6.7% 430,000, which is okay. Eli Lilly, A healthcare does doing also a study on the risk for Cove. It's so we'll see what happens there. But there's no two ways about it. Our friend absolutely, is what's helping us is the vaccines in the therapeutics and the optimism. I think that's what we're looking for right now. Yeah, Jobs 245,000. So we kind of slowed a little bit. So right now, you know we're going into a weekend, so we'll see what happens. Dave Caruso from coastal Capital. "And after a miserable day on Wall Street yesterday, let's check in on the markets. They're about to open this morning and we check in with W. B. C's Dave Caruso. What are we in for today, Dave? Well, Jeff not as bad as yesterday. That's for sure. You know, we had a rough day yesterday with a three day losing streak, and you know if I looked at it this morning, Tao is mostly positive. Right now it's about up 15. So we'll take that one on the Dow outside a Zen PF about 10 NASDAQ doing a little bit better, so a little bit of strength there. It's up about 70 and again just remind, Ah reminder. There are only about 10% off of their high, so we'll be looking for

"Late summer breather. He joins us now with a look at the market looks like it's going to be off to a rough start this morning, Dave You didn't leave me much coming here, boy. I'll tell you. This is an L start today. I mean, I know it was a tough week last week and right now it's it's rough. Yeah. You're looking at things going on right now, as we head into. Ah, Again. The labor day is gone. And now we've got I think the way we're going to play it out is we've had the August gains They're going to call. So some of the September pains right now, so everything is red all over the place right now this morning. Again. Technology stocks Getting Hit pretty hard down down a couple 100 points S and P down 50. You look across the board gold, silver oil all down, So it's a tough time and were worrying about the NASDAQ again, which has been carrying us for the last year. Also on the economic side of things. We get about a dozen reports coming out this week, but it's kind of Maura the same. Nothing, nothing threatening at all. We've got Morano initial jobless claims. We're gonna have continuing claims on the inflation side as well. We'll see what happens there. So you know in looking at all this. I think we're going to keep our eye on stocks and see what happens because it's definitely rocky right now. Looking at Apple down about 5% Tesler down 15% little bit of good news Samsung. They signed a $6.65 billion deal with Verizon for equipment and services for the five G front. So we'll see what happens there. Softbank is down down 7% again because of the technology focused But you know we're going to continue to see a major focus now, which I think will be positive as we move along, which is the covert 19 vaccines, So nine CEOs pledge To get these things safely done. So right now back to work back to school. The march forward will begin. Right Dave Caruso. Thank you. And the market looks to be off by 265 points. The Dow is down. It's 9 27 low shrimp. How could it be Jumbo with his shrimp? Yeah, that's a famous actually. Moron. How about this one Pretty ugly. How could it be pretty? If it's ugly oxymoron. Our competitors have a favorite. Maybe if we did like those guys and had a free window that you had to pay for what we do a little bit better, but we think we'll keep it right here because the phrase truth in advertising, should it be an oxymoron? "B. C news financial editor Dave Caruso what are expecting today, Dave? Ah, lot. Actually, you know, last week we were kind of so So this week. We're also kind of so so phrase when you're looking at the future's right now, because right now we're basically flattish. The Dow has been around 100 or so on right now. Looks to be down about 30 s and P looks pretty flat on NASDAQ up a little bit a little bit of a perk this morning, but this is a busy week. We've got 10 economic reports coming out this week. Maur concerns about covert 19. There's new talking now about months. Eso as opposed to Ah, you know, years ago this point time, so a lot of negativity. I think this morning without ah, whole lot going on, But it is going to be very, very busy. We're going to be looking at again a pause in the country in the states like California, New Jersey, New York City for indoor dining. Also, you know, we're seeing some fighting back of the disease. No. Two ways about it. But you know, we've got the airline travel's looks like we've got some tough times coming up there, and we kind of knew that so not such good numbers this morning. Also, you know, we're talking about surging. Continue with the cove. It's 19 and we're hearing a lot of probably the most positive this morning. It's what's going on with the therapeutics in the vaccine, so a number of those have come out. Also today, very busy week give you some ideas about what's coming on the pipeline for earnings. We've got IBM, Coke, biotech, Microsoft, Biogen, Intel and Verizon and her She's so ah lot we're going to be looking at today. Disney, unfortunately, is looking also Parliament having up on what's going on with Facebook and the advertising so We're seeing some boycotts there, so we'll see how that reacts and also, we've got a deal. This morning's been a long time since we've seen one of those in the oil patch of oil patch Chevron buying Noble energy for about $5 billion we haven't seen one of those for a while. "Bill stock report joining us live is Dave Caruso with coastal capital in Danvers and it looks like maybe another wild day but so far so good what do you think yeah it's a it's a tough start to you know last week we we saw what was going on and it was wild and today we've got another thousand point swing on the market as we get going although it's a little bit positive at this point time but you know this is the toughest time because investors want to do something and to do nothing is probably the the the patient and prudent thing to do so I think that's what the markets are going to start to digest some of this and the news is going to continue it's it's not gonna stop last week we saw an over reaction of a four point three trillion and IT today we'll probably see another rear over reaction at this one time but there is a lot of news that continues to come out and I think what we're hoping for a little bit is the fact that maybe the fed will step in and and see if we can try to get some rate cuts kind of soup and smooth out the economy a little bit but there are certainly more concerns and and they're not gonna stop in this of this process no two ways about it what we do in this situation nothing I I hate to say it but when when in doubt do nothing and and look anything else we we talk about these big moves last week if we look at big move today but I think it what's happening is you've got to step back a little bit and say Hey this is not the time to fly out there's a storm going on that you don't jump into the storm at this point in time so I think most people should basically sit back try and relax a little bit we know we're going to have probably some spillover this week with the elections it may come through but I think the best thing to do is nothing and and and kind of look at where we are right now at least the futures are starting to move up a little bit maybe we'll get a little momentum Dow right now about a couple hundred looks like the S. and P. up about twenty nasdaq up seventy seven so I think patience is a virtue that we have to have at this point but it certainly is difficult when we're seeing some of the the numbers that we've had but it's not over Dan Caruso thanks so much it's nine twenty seven and by the way he's with coastal capital in Danvers the latest on the corona virus coming up in a minute do you worry about today's economy are you concerned about your current investments and questioning your retirement plans listen to family financial focus with the Welsh brothers from ninety three financial group every Saturday at six PM here on WBZ host Larry and Paul Welch discuss financial.

"Crossing twenty nine thousand for the first time WBZ financial editor Dave Caruso with coastal capital does the market's wound up doing better than expected I wasn't sure what to expect with that what was going on with the US and Iran in the strikes there and in looking at that it looks like we gathered a little momentum and were able to kind of see things work out a little bit better I really thought this is going to be a tough week but the reality is I got a much better outcome than I thought we would Dave Caruso from coastal capital in Danvers and the drummer of the legendary band rosh is death you Neil died on Tuesday he was only sixty seven a family spokesperson says brain cancer took for its life five twenty seven coming up next Ben Parker with the top stories at five thirty this is Dan rape you change the oil in your car regularly you don't wait for a problem to develop so why would your family's financial future be any different all he would fill in the read for the couple of advisory group and these conversations only get harder the longer you wait don't nobody wants to think about getting sick or passing away I can't tell you how many times people have come into us and somebody's in a nursing home and it's an extremely stressful time everyone seems to take the opinion that listen I feel really good right now I don't need to do it you have to do this when you feel good because if you'd stop this when you don't feel well you can lose what you have and that's the kind of stress in financial trouble they can be avoided with a little planning in Massachusetts the Lars told us that the middle class can protect themselves and the way they protected is through a trusted so easy to protect your family with help from the common wealth advisory group call one eight hundred seven.

"Wall Street and we're in for a rocky ride today we check in with WBZ financial editor Dave Caruso from coastal capital group so Dave obviously the situation in the Middle East is going to take its toll on stock markets especially on the Dow Jones what's going on yeah it's a it's a difficult morning I I don't think we saw a lot of us coming although there's been a lot of change your over the last couple of days which is we get going was looking at the again of the strike was ordered by trump and we've killed one of its operating military leaders as well probably pretty much aware today which you know now we've got to take a chance was to step back and say okay what what's going on well we're certainly seeing right now the dollar get beaten up and we're seeing some responses to us so on his death and and we're gonna see that coming up in the future days of course one of the impacts of dealing with what's going on with with oil and we are having an oil rally so we'll see what happens with some of that data if we look at the markets as well on the financial side it looks like you know we're we're seeing the aerospace and defense stocks they're actually starting to what little bit as a result of this but you know this is not the thing we necessarily want to start a new year but you know it does plus insurance with the peace tensions that we certainly dealt with the surf for quite awhile but I don't think it's going to be a quick response no this seems to be some comfort of of not over reacting to the so I think we're going to kind of ease up but when we look at the dollar right now dollar looks to be a very strong at seven nine we try and of course we always have the war you battle with gold so that's kind of rally to four point five as well so if we look at the futures right now at least for we've moved up a little before we started about right now looks like we got the doubt about two hundred and seventy of the downside S. U. P. about thirty two on the downside and nasdaq down the one oh five so again we'll be looking at some ramifications of taking the celebrities and I think my hope is that at least over the weekend maybe so this will take just a little bit kind of ease on the markets but the subway to start the year so here we go on our markets that all right David Caruso thank you gonna be a rough one on Wall Street today and the opening bell is just a couple minutes away also a not a lot of coal in the Christmas stockings for American workers this past year job cuts in December come in at the lowest monthly total we've seen since the summer of two thousand eighteen but still close to six hundred thousand people lost their jobs over the past year that is according to outplacement firm challenger gray and Christmas retail is leading the way also among the leaders for job losses last year the auto and high tech industries well coming up it is still flu season and so experts say it may have peaked but still causing problems for many Americans details on the way with Jim McKay next it's nine twenty seven hello Hey there I thought you were leasing a car today yeah yeah well I used to go to lease a car you know it's we can choose from hundreds of local cars right from your phone okay and the price is crystal clear all taxes and fees are included discounts negotiated they deliver the car your house watching the game while I take a car so let me get this straight you were on the road at least car and it was so easy you figured Hey why not get football game to see understand export debating between the inner hatch that the future of Carly thing on the road you can choose from hundreds of cars right in your area we give you crystal clear pricing that includes.

"Elliott coats for kids distributes winter coats to needy children, teens adults and even babies, so if you have any gently used winter coats, bring them to Jordan's and tons cleaners. We'll clean them and you'll help keep someone warm. Thanks, the four day WBZ AccuWeather forecast now in meteorologist Dave Bowers. Increasing cloudiness tonight, low thirty in some inland suburbs. Thirty seven downtown for tomorrow. Periods of rain and drizzle, and at least in the morning hours could even be pockets of freezing rain in the Worcester. Hills and north of four ninety five high temperature of forty inland Forty-six downtown tomorrow night, the Raynaud ended evening then skies, clear late low thirty to thirty four Sunday, Wendy and mild clouds inside with a high of forty six Monday, Partly sunny, much, colder, high thirty two then there could be some snow and ice changing to rain in the Monday night Tuesday time, period, I'm AccuWeather meteorologist Dave Bowers WBZ. Boston's NewsRadio clouds in Boston right now. Forty three degrees. So still pretty mild. This time of year it is seven twenty five now and a look at New England business every Friday at this time, we take a look at what the heck happened on Wall Street. What did happen this week on Wall Street? Simply a dizzying ride. Dave Caruso is principal at coastal capital group. Dan verse he joins us now. So I guess Dave. You wouldn't believe this was a holiday-shortened week. Would you long week? I'll tell you that. But what it's all said and done this. This was a good week. I didn't think so at the beginning. But you know, we look at where we are first week at two thousand nineteen never know what to expect. But yeah, we're up two percent this week in the Dow actually was up eight hundred thirty two points. I'm guessing that at the early part of the week. But again, quite a good goal for the markets. Not without a lot of stress that volatility still it wasn't easy. But the bad news for the week was the fact that we got a rotten apple stock that is and and you know, sales expectations got clobbered after the slower growth coming out of China. Yes. So we had this bad. Apple stock down ten percent largest one day drop since two thousand thirteen and then guess what surprised even though it lost seventy five billion. It's back and moving up again. So who knows how quickly things can turn. Well, does it seem that these days there is no logic whatsoever? In. What's going on in the market, Dave? Yeah. I think I've gotten that sense over the last thirty eight years. Sometimes it's logic. And sometimes there isn't. But I think it's sentiment is the problem right now, it really is about how we're feeling about things. And that's not very good. When you're looking at ceilings and number. So you know, this week we had the economic numbers that nobody saw this coming with the jobs numbers three hundred twelve thousand for this week. Unbelievable. Unemployment data rallied one of the best that we've seen in years and again much slower economy. But, you know, looking at it, it's it's probably less likely that we're going to have recession talk now. So maybe that'll help a little bit with somebody. Do we saw this week as well? Dave caruso. Thank you have taken a look at these numbers. Of course, the giant jobs number this morning. The numbers on Wall Street were pretty big as well. The Dow up seven hundred fifty points, NASDAQ, adding to seventy-five SNP up eighty four points that's between three and four percent depending on which index..
