"There's more to come. J. T. Snow's called journalist He called the Angel Series with John Miller down in Anaheim. The Giants get to sleep in the eighties. Come in tomorrow, which we'll get into in just second. They win 93 yesterday in 13 innings despite that runner on second base rules, so The thing that is so impressive, and I I think last yesterday illustrated it was you get Stephen Duggar, who was a guy who was kind of written off a little bit, had a lot of injuries and he gets a couple of hits with runners in scoring position. Brandon Belt goes down rough comes in makes that throw at home that saves the game that was originally called a run and then was reversed. Parkman struggling with five strikeouts, He gets a home run. It just seems like it is a full team effort, and the the confidence in the clubhouse is rolling, therefore games up on the Dodgers. Yesterday was a perfect example. They could have easily quit. They had 47 wins. I got the best record in baseball. And yet they grinded it out through 13 innings. Yeah, I think you're right and some of the best teams that I played on the clubhouse, uh, is where it starts and you got everybody in there believing and and you look at their numbers offensively, they're not great. They are hitting a lot of home runs. But you know, it's just and I've said this to John and Dave yesterday. Some of the good Giants teams I played on. It's somebody different every day, and that's what good teams do. You don't have to rely on, um you know, even though we had very in the middle line up, But you know, one day when Chuck Ken, and then it was Ellis Burkes, and it was Richard really a or Billy Miller and then I would contribute, and, um, it's just somebody different, you know, every day, and that's that's what great teams do. It starts in the clubhouse. I think they've built a great culture. Gabe Kapler, and I think there's open lines of communication and he's open with the players, letting them know where they're playing. The next day. They do a lot of extra work and Your guy like research Bond in center field one day and then he's at third base yesterday, and that's exactly what they're doing. And Triple A When I'm calling the river Cats games Dave Brundage, the manager, the manager down there, and Damon minor, the hitting coach, talked to them and they they're moving guys around and when they get up to the big leagues are ready to go, and they're they're plugged in, and they produced Lamont Way. Junior done a great job. Um, Boston has done a good job. I've seen all those guys in Triple A and they've got a good culture there. It's um It's not easy when one day here in the outfield the next day in the infield, you're swapping positions on the infield, But it's just their clutch. The Giants are really cost this year with the bat and the impressive thank for me as I was watching the school funny and then Goldman the last couple days they can really pitched and to me. They're old school. Not overpowering, but they know how to pitch. They locate their pitches, and they keep the team in the game. Alright from J. T snow on upstairs to the big guy Farhan Zaidi With TK Be today on the sports leader. It's always fun to talk to for hangs anxiety type little San Francisco Giants baseball for Hunt. Hey, doing a damn assuming pretty well. Yeah. Just enjoying the off day looking forward. Big series starting tomorrow, are you Well, let me ask you about that. How big A deal is the the Bay Bridge Trophy to you. If you win that, do you think you put it next to the World Series trophies? Yeah, You know, I really when I when I think big series I mean, one is that the days are just playing really well, and it's always yes, fun when you're playing well to play another team that's playing well, and it feels like the stakes are a little bit higher and Obviously, with the ballpark being to capacity. I just think it's going to be an awesome weekend, so it's as much about that having our fans back well capacity. I think it's just going to be a great environment and Yeah, less about the trophy. Hope. I'm not hurting a lot Look a lot less about the trophy. Well, you said initially that's the reason to get excited about a series..

"Way back. They're still going and good. How long home run to right field by you Scream scheme for the first run of the game. Chant home run this year for Mike Jastremski. John Miller. J. T Snow have the call First on TV, then on both TV and radio, By the way, Yaz in June is heating up. 49 at bats four home runs 12 RBS hitting 2 86 with a 9 64 0 P s. Hopefully that continues. That was the first run the board. Off Otani. Then it got crazy from there. JT joins us, courtesy of the U. My guest line. I'm gonna ask you something tough. How do you describe what happened yesterday? Somebody said Yeah. I missed the game. What happened? What do you say? Uh um That's probably don't know what to say. Yes. You asked me a tough question. I'll give the easy answer. The Giants won 93 I mean, like John and I and David. We were talking about it in between commercial breaks, and that was really a great baseball game into the ninth inning. I mean, we saw a couple pictures dealing Otani was getting stronger. Gausman just does what he does, and then All of a sudden, and I'm not a big fan of this. You start putting a guy on second base to me. And looks a little hokey. It reminds me when I was coaching my kids literally team and you're playing in a tournament in Las Vegas and, hey, we gotta get this game over because the next game starts. We're going to go on second base. I just I don't like it. I think it's the big leagues. I think you've got to be able to Tax your bullpen. If you do back in the day it send a guy out call guy up the next day I and it's the first game I've done where it really depends on where you are in the lineup as to what you're going to do, and the Giants had Power hitters out, so you're not going to But and then the Angels were at the bottom of the order, so they are going to buy and On the road You're playing for the win and at home you're playing for the tie could always have the last at that. So it's just a great game just got kind of sideways. And then there was a lot of bad baseball in the in the extra innings. You gave John an answer. Ultimately, even in the beginning there for the first time all week. You're kinda Yeah. Uh, I do want to ask you about your broadcasting That was really impressed from right away the on camera open our interaction. On the change up in the pregame working with Chad Miller is is intimidating guys the best of all time. It's that easy. I know you've worked hard at it, JT, I, You know, I thought you did a magnificent job. But tell me what you've been doing Broadcasting wise. And how do you think it went the last couple of days. Well, thanks. I appreciate Yeah. I've been working hard at it night was doing, um Worked for seven years for the Pac 12 network doing college baseball and, uh, this year. I'm doing 20 Sacramento River Cats games, and they televise every Saturday night and Sunday home game on the local CBS cable channel Up there working with Johnny Das cow who's one of the best and, uh Yeah, I just, um I'm getting more comfortable and I love doing it. I love talking baseball and working with John. Like you said. He's so prepared, and, um he's just so great off the top of his head, and I've just been studying and working at it a lot of feedback from from friends and family, and and it's like anything you just gotta The more reps you get comfortable, the more comfortable you feel. And, um I like talking, um, you know, with some of the some of the announcers all due respect, there's there's a lot of pitching minds in that colour chair, but I I love talking about hitting, um Wasn't the greatest hitter in the big leagues. But to 70 over my career is not bad, and I really like diving into hitting, and I think the people watching like to hear a little Change of pace, um, with hitting side out. Randy Winn does some games in it, and he's more of outfielder top of the order guy, but I love Talking hitting, and, um, I've talked a lot with Shawn Estes and some other pictures about the pitching side of it. I think it's fun and I have a good time doing it and hopefully there's more to come. 80 snows called journalist He called the Angel series with John Miller down in Anaheim. They're moving guys around and when they get up to the big leagues are ready to go. And they're they're plugged in, and they produced LaMonte Wade Jr done a great job. Um Vossler has done a good job. I've seen all those guys in triple egg. And they've got a good culture there, and it's um it's not easy when One day here in the outfield the next day in the infield, you're swapping positions on the infield. But, um, it's just their clutched that the Giants are really clutch this year with the bat and the impressive thank for me as I was watching DeSclafani and then Gausman the last couple days they can really pitch and to me. They're old school. Not overpowering, but they know how to pitch. They locate their pitches. And they keep the team in the game. As you were saying earlier about the broadcast. Both Randy is the top of the order hitter. You were a middle of the order hitter, your power hitter, and you also struck out. You know, here and there 100 times, plus a few times. But what my talk man did yesterday J T to strike out five times in the game, then strike back with a three run homer in the 13th is just amazing Fifth player in the history of baseball to have the platinum Sobrero. It also hit a home run. Tell me what you see from his swing. And I know you talked to Gabe and zoom calls. You know they're not just the ones that are available to the media. What are they doing with the swing changes And how hard is that to ask him to make these adjustments in the middle of a season? Yeah, it's always hard. I'm not quite sure I didn't really get into. It gave out swing changes, but just watching him. And I think it's an easy fix. I think he's late getting to the baseball. I think he's starting late..

"Back playing healthy and everything but just was really having to build strength up in my hands to To really start doing well. It was just a part of the grind part of coming out to BP every day and, you know, even struggling to hit it out. You know what I mean? But I always kind of started myself. You know, this will get better. I'll get stronger and As the season went on, I got stronger and I started to progress more and more. And then I kind of just took off their towards in the season from, uh The end of San Jose and into Richmond into the fall league. So, uh, it was, It was a good way to finish the year. I was happy with that after everything that happened, and then of course, I got hit again in the fall league broke my thumb, but, uh But you know, it was a good showing had a good run there at the end of the year and just just coming out at full speed ahead. My mentality. I'm just You know, I'm just trying to put the best games together. I can have fun every single day and and try to make my way to the big leagues. Yep. And you didn't fall ball hit 3 33 4 home runs 10 R B. I's You only had 30 at bats, but you crush the ball and you ended up being the MVP of the minor leagues that year. Now we turn into 2020. And sure enough, Buster Posey ops out and you have an opportunity to come to big leagues. Uh, 8 28 or 8? 2020 20. You ended up of going against Julian tomorrow now from the Angels. And what did you do? You've got a nice double. First time up. Do you remember the at bat? Oh, yeah. Can't forget that I was a guy that's been a brave for so long. And, uh, I had watched him for years being from, you know, the Atlanta area, So it was pretty cool to get my get a first hit against him. Who who have watched forever So I can't forget that. Yeah, I tell you what, your first three games you had extra base hits. First time players that extra base hits in three straight games since 19 Oh, one. You broke her record back with the Giants. And you are often running and then the next thing you know, we kind of got a cold streak ended up playing in 33 games. You had to 33 overall when you look at the hitting of that year. I know you've learned a lot. There's a lot of adjustments you make. But tell me what your first thoughts are. When you came home. After that, you're on the batting side and on the hitting side. Oh, just it's just baseball, and it's high and cold game obviously have a lot of Lot of things to work on my game, but it was just an interesting transition coming from, uh The alternate side and not playing and then go into the big leagues. So that was something that that was definitely challenging, you know, but at the same time, I wouldn't I don't make any excuses for anything in my career. I mean, I didn't play as well as I would like to, But I just got I just got up there and I was I was in a bad funk and never got out of it, And that's just kind of how it happened. But those things are good for you. And, uh And I'll put that under my belt. You know, I'll take that my tool kit and move forward with it. And, you know, just keep pushing. Keep pushing to try to get back and and do what I know I can do at the big league level. That's a great answer. Joe and I'll tell you one of the biggest things you get hurdles all the time. It's not always as easy as everybody thinks that I was a pitcher back in the eighties, and you were catcher and a hitter and sometimes you just go into the slumps and you just can't get out of them. But you're attacking it The right way. You're jumping over that hurdle. Forget it. It's in my rear view mirror and keep moving forward. And you did that. You went to spring training with an open mind this year you led the team in batting average home runs. You did everything right? Did you feel comfortable? Better this year when you went to spring training? Certainly, we mean it was just a normal year. Um, yeah, I got I got normal ab action and was able to get my work in and move forward with that. Uh, just the alternate side and for people around the league last year is just something that you can't blame anyone for. I mean, we've never experienced anything like this, but I'm sure there are a lot of other players that that felt like you know, it was just It was a tough It was a tough experience to say the least. But, yeah, I mean, I came to spring training, ready to roll. Um You know, That's my thing. I'm going to come. I'm going to come ready and and I'm going to try to make an impact and do my part and the most I can. Do you know what I mean? Everything else is out of my hands there, but I felt good. And I was excited to get spring training. Um, but, you know, ultimately didn't make the team So that's something I'm still trying to work, You know, work to Again and try to try to get to the big leagues in place, so that's my goal. Well, I had a nice interview with Dave Brundage, the manager of Sacramento, and he praised you for a few things. He praised you for coming to his office, closing the door, trying to learn more from him. Learning about statistics learning about pitchers learning about defense, learning about how you're catching could get better. These are things he said. He praised you left and right. I love Dave Brundage is a man and I love him As a manager. I've known him for many years for him to say that on air. How do you feel from listening to that? That's awesome. I mean, I think that that's something I take pride in is, uh, you know, everyone always looks at the offensive side. But But defense and catching and framing and getting pitches and deep pictures deep into games or something that I take very seriously and and it definitely outweighs my hitting. I feel like when I'm locked in with my catching side. I don't have to feel as much. Or think as much about hitting, and and I'm in a better place at the plate. So, um, yeah, I would like to say that's a reflective some of the work that I put in and hopefully my teammates see that as well. I know that I'm focused in and I'm going to come to the game prepared and ready to execute a plan and and and they know that they're going to get the best out of me. No matter what if I'm Over four with four punchouts or, you know, have a hell of a game. It doesn't really matter. I know that I'm going to from the defensive shot. I'm going to come out. With my nails together and you know greater role. Joey Barton. I appreciate your time today on extra innings continued success, my friend. It's always great seeing you and talking to and I can't wait to see in a big league uniform. And I know there's a lot of giant fans right here listening and And pushing you to get up here and we're anxious to see you up here. Continued success, Joe and I'll be checking on with the river catches with the summer moves forward, All right, I appreciate it. Thanks for having me on All right. Thanks, Joey. I appreciate your time today, and we're going to be right back an extra innings on KNBR, one of.

"Welcome back to extra innings State. Brundage is my good friend, and he is giving me some time today to talk about what's going on in Sacramento with the alternate site and I want to talk about some of the young guys you just mentioned. Let's just go with Ray most right off the bat. Helio Rameau's just had a sensational spring training. He was named Moral s the M V p of spring training while the youth that they brought on and he desist LDA so well in everything from defense of an offensive side, let's go to the defense of side and Ramos and say What do you see in him? Is an outfielder Strongarm. Good defense. Can he go back on the ball? What is his characteristics? Well, I think you mean no one that is 21 years old. He's going to make mistakes. I think along the way, you know, I think I think with Ramos You know, he's got that high ceiling and, you know, just kind of having him improve every day and kind of working on the little things and you know the intricate things in the game. And, you know, we all know the power's there and You know, just kind of trying to clean up some of the throwing. You know, there's some of the throwing, you know programs obviously, that he's on and everything like that. Just trying to do that. Just trying to get him. You know the focus on his defense and not just Not just worry so much about his hitting, You know, you know, obviously, we got the tale of two tapes. I mean, the one day where he breaks back on the ball and get Stana turned around. He ends up making a making an error on the play and cost us a couple runs. But at the same time You know, the following day, He makes a diving play on the track all out and then ends up saving us A couple runs. So you know, you know, you know that these young players are going to make mistakes along the way. Just like to see the improvements. You want to see him? You know, he's got the strong arm now we're just trying to, you know, harness and a little bit. Let's go behind the dish and talk a little bit about Joey Bart, Of course. Joey Barca thrown into the mix last year, with Buster Posey taking a year off. Ah, lot of good. I really believe he's learned a lot that confidence factors. One thing at the Big League level. It looks like he was this confused at times. What have you seen him? Learn as much as you've seen him in the last three or four weeks. Well, I think what Joey? Uh you know, obviously, he's got a high ceiling as well. And he started the future for San Francisco. I think You know, helping him? You know, with the game of baseball, I think you know, being a catcher is probably the toughest task in all of baseball. And I don't know if people understand because Not only you know, not only did you need to learn pitching staff. He also need to learn all the signs. You need to learn old that you know of the calling of a game, And now we have, by the way. We also have to hit to a swell and I just think, trying tow, you know, trying to slow the game down a little bit for him. Making sure that he's he's more comfortable. I think, you know he's kind of a world wind when guys you know they change levels and it doesn't matter whether you're going the big leagues. You're going to Triple A or double a You know you're going to a whole different sign system. You're going to a whole different pitching staff you've got starters. You've got relievers. Now you gotta understand. Hey, you got scouting reports on the other team. You need to understand. You know, You know how to call a game and you need to understand. You know who they're not who they're lying up. You know who you know is that night? And you know, like I said, I don't by the way also, you know, you're also asked to hit and understand the pictures on the other side as well. So I think you know, one of my jobs, I think along the way and you know, men effective. Joey just left my office and we sat down for about 10 minutes and Kind of every day. We talk about something, maybe different maybe about the game. They were about practice What we improved, you know, and also kind of cover signs and go over everything like that, Just so maybe he's a little more comfortable. You know, second in a second go around. I think that you know will go a long ways because the experience that he gained and bigly camp the experience he game getting to go to the big leagues last year, you know itself it mentally, you know, said Hey, you know the game becomes, you know, you know, you 10 10 times hold. I mean, as far as going to the big leagues. Hey, there's a lot. You know, a lot asked him catch. You're moving to the big leagues and Don't By the way. You know what you know. You've got to learn this staff is well and you know, only you're doing it on a big stage. You sure I'll tell you what he does Both those guys have some promising futures. Another name you mentioned was Hunter Bishop. A really A as you project came out here from San Matteo Sarah High School. Just a big name. That girl gave him so many pluses. When you've seen him swing the bat, he says. He's just got a great swing path. What have you seen so far from Hunter Bishop? I've seen actually huge strides. I think just just in the confidence, you know side of it. I think you know Hunter certainly is his, you know, got a lot of improvements, you know, cutting down on the swings and misses, you know, cutting down on his swing. He's got a He's got a big swing. He's got a great swing, and he's got a ton of power and I think people will be excited. You know, down the road, I think you know he's starting to kind of hits tried a little bit he's had better at bats here. Um, you know, Big league camp was it was a good eye opener because he got to play a little more this last spring. And, you know, just kind of showing off his tools. We've been working on his throwing and defense and I think he feels a lot more comfortable and I think it's starting to show in the offensive side of it. That Bush you hear is Dave Brundage on extra innings he's returning for his fifth season is the Sacramento River Cats start their season on May six, a couple players that came across the board after spring training with Skye Bolt, We? I remember seeing him in Las Vegas with the Oakland A's He's Ah, very speedy Outfielder. Give me a little scouting report on Skye Bolt. You know, Skype Sky runs well, it's rose. Well, he's got a lot of tools. He's got a lot of upside to his game. Um, you know, he's also a guy that we kind of need to harness a little bit. Um, you know any kind of show these shows glimpses every day. He's a little more refined than some of the young players. I think along the way, you know he's got a good work ethic He wants to Hey, wants to work every day..

"You go to the places of the you're writing about struck by the fact that Really when there has been momentous times as far as sports it's always been tied in with not only the sporting event but also either social or political events as well thirty six in germany. Of course then you have sixty in rome. Sixty eight in mexico city seventy two in germany. Once again i mean i. It's not just coincidence. Very much. so and particularly with the olympics because the looks of the whole world on the same stage at the same time which doesn't come agree often and it it. it's impossible. I always say that olympics run on two tracks. One is the sports one is politics and they can be different tracks but they're always there together at the olympics. The other three Olympics the mentioned are actually better known than rome because of the singular event jesse owens Sort of putting it in the face of aryan superiority in berlin and eight hundred thirty six Tommie smith and john carlos with the black power salute in mexico city and of course the horror of munich in the murder of the israeli athletes. Rome is at sort of a quieter transformation but in my mind even more profound because so many different aspects of the modern world were just then coming into view are the first televised olympics. The first doping scandal but first runner to be paid for taking where you certain brand of shoes plus the important advances for blacks and women sports in that year. what. I also find interesting. Is that the site of all of these events that we're talking about when it comes to the olympics. There's something unique about each one. That really fits the whole occasion. Oh completely rome One of the great ancient cities of the world and also Center of europe only fifteen years after world war. Two this to us like the early clinton administration today not that long ago and brome in many ways as one of the athletes their leave your baroudi. The sprinter told me when you walked into the olympic stadium. It was like he was walking out of the shadows and his whole country was out of the shadows of the fascist era. And that's a very moment plus Rome was a a center of teaming with spies and and Attempts at defection in the heat of the cold war it was also at the center of all that. So i think in many ways. Rome was the perfect place for those olympics. What i always have found interesting is the fact that people look upon competition when i say people. I'm talking about the fans as purely competition. But it's anything but that there's always an undercurrent of some type either social or political you mentioned about the nineteen sixty is kind of a pinnacle point is not it is very much so you had you had for instance go to any continent in europe. You had eastern west germany competing as one so-called unified team months before the berlin wall went up The officials from the two sides hated each other the athletes as they usually got along. Okay are pretty well from eastern west They had to make certain compromises instead of anthem from from east germany. When germany athlete one they played. Beethoven's ode to joy maybe a better anthem anyway and then you go to africa This was the first time a black african everyone gold medal with a bb bikila's rise. And you also saw the incipient movement to ban south africa from the olympics Because of their obvious up breaking of the olympic creed you know of no discrimination Ironically they were allowed to participate in one thousand nine sixty because the ioc executive committee fought the argument that they weren't really discriminating. were just no black athletes. in south africa. Good enough to participate. Then go to china To asia and you see the debate over the two chinas which was playing out in that presidential campaign between nixon and kennedy and very much so in the olympics who was exactly fifty years ago. Nineteen fifty-eight that. The mainland china withdrew from the olympic movement Because out of protest that taiwan was allowed to participate and they denounced dave brundage The president of the tool of the imperialist state department of the us. Then you come to nine hundred sixty and all of a sudden The ioc declares the taiwan can only compete under that name or the name of formosa. They can't call themselves. The republic of china which is what the united states called him in what they like to call themselves and so now brundage was denounced as a communist sympathizer but all of that the debate over the two chinas which was very much a part of the world. Politics at that moment was played out in these olympics. Taiwan almost boycotted the olympics. That's what the state department wanted them to do. But as you know they have one great athlete. C k young and he was going to win their one and only medal for them so instead of boycotting They walked into the olympic stadium. Olympic on the opening ceremonies and political act unfurled a banner that said under protest. Is it fair to say that. It was also a turning point as far as the emphasis that americans put on a olympic competition. Well i would say so. I mean certainly nineteen fifty. Six melbourne was also the heat of the cold war and it had that famous a water polo match. Blood in the water. Between the hungarians and the soviets right after the hungarian revolution had been quashed by soviet tanks but melbourne was in late fall because of the weather differences in climate and in australia and it wasn't televised and so it's kind of like forgotten olympics and so it really wasn't as much of the consciousness is nineteen sixty. The real heat of the cold war break before the olympics began in a trial in moscow. Gary powers. The american youtube reconnaissance plane pilot was convicted of espionage after his plane had been shot down over soviet territory before the olympics ended soviet leader nikita khruschev Left moscow on his way to the united nations in new york where he would pound his fists and rail against america and the west. So that was bracketing. These olympics there was a pretty tense time. How did the soviets approach the olympic competition. they well first of all you know the olympic creed Has an amateur code the soviets You know got around it by having state-sponsored athletes which the us and the west did not have so all of their athletes benefited from that. That that situation where they you know their housing there anything. They wanted was essentially supplied by. The country and the soviets really had a much Deeper a belief in the propaganda value of athletics. The is now administration was a little slow on the uptake about that. That situation the soviets were not they were just like the chinese. Today the soviets. Dan were putting a lot into the olympic movement in the way that it could help them impressed the rest of the world. We only got thirty seconds before we have to break here but the soviet said that was when metal counts. Really came into play was not very much. So yeah in. The soviets did win the medal. Count in In rome and one of the ways they did. It was by concentrating on supports that the americans were not yet good ad including surprisingly gymnastics. They're more medals given gymnastics than any other summer. Sport and the soviets along with the japanese swept through that and one many many metals that gave them the overall medal count. Victory david. Maraniss has joined us on sports byline. I urge you to check out this book. It is a wonderful read. We're gonna make it. A selection of the month on the sports byline usa book corner at simply called rome. One thousand nine hundred sixty the olympics. That changed the world. There are good guys and bad guys in the that olympics. We'll talk about that as we continue with more of you and sports byline hello and welcome back to the ronnie do each tax program on the line is paul from california..

"You back here. Boy, the first hour ravages flies by Johnny Daska joins us. Thank you, Johnny for that rejoinder to the show. Always like talking baseball with this guy loves CNN. Arizona does a great job with the Sacramento river cats is now in Las Vegas, Johnny. How are you? Money. I'm doing fine as Las Vegas. It's, it's actually it's warm. It's not as hot as it used to being out here. It's actually it's been really kind of Bildt. It's in the nineties, which is really the seventies here, you know, so it's actually not too bad. I like it. Well, I'm glad to have you on today. Number one, the ball club as I looked at the standings today. You're only half a game out of the lead with the Fresno grizzlies, Doug. Greenwald steamed down there in Fresno. Good season for the river cats. Especially when you consider since they've been the giants affiliate, we haven't been in first place, this late really since two thousand thirteen even you know, when year before two years before the switch. So to be, you know, asking back with, with sixty seven to go good, old fashioned pennant race here and nationals billion Fresno playing good ball with river. Cats are competing with a three game lead at one point. So it's fun team to watch especially the bullpen. The bullpen is loaded right now. So you're all that fuss coming up with the both in the Tyler Rogers as well. Did he so we're loaded down there really is a weak spot amongst, but ten in our inner bullpens, I think that's kinda carried us. So the offense is picking up now too. So it's going to really really fun team to watch Johnny task whether it's the voice of the river cats if you had to take a guess, wild stab at the next bullpen guided come up who would it be? That is that is tough. I would say they, I would say probably probably Coon, rod. Okay. I Coon rod. You know, I think I really liked you. Stop you stop. It's been closing for us, and he he's he got hit around the other day in Vegas, but he's he's special and he's he's, he's fun to watch. He's got that good life fastball. Great slider. And I think he got to keep an eye on her, sir. All right. Very good. We will we, we appreciate your opinion. You know, it's fun to talk with the catch up. We see each other in spring training and then we do this during the year. But Connor men is that I say, is it Menez? I say correctly. It's. Okay, I'm going with you. He's, he's in the news, just about every start now had a tremendous start last night against Las Vegas. Tell me about Connor mentors. Yeah. And he did it any did it at this, ballpark, was even that much more impressive probably the most hitter, fairly ballparks anywhere around. He you know, he struck out twelve has solid south ball. We're all four quarters. He you know, he had that good curveball. I talked to airmiss carseat a little today, and he's he really loves loves calling games for him. And he just you know he's thirty one strikeouts in three games Marty. And he just he just has this. You talked about that look at Tyler Bedia where we talked about bathroom tree that looked at the I that's kind of what Menendez has as well. Yep. That's Wagner that look where you so confident. And you know it doesn't seem like anything really faces. We'll see what happens to the next level. You know, he's got Sean Anderson, zillions, his best friend of the world and they they've competed in pushed each other. And he they talk about every day. So I think that having son, having success, he's having their we'll help it s when he gets up there, but he's just a treat to watch and just getting better and better. And I I just like that. Swagger, the came to El Paso, last year mardi. He he just one game came from able, it's one game when the pitcher of the week seven shutout to hits stuck out eight or nine and then then went back to eight ball, just John Wayne came in and had his cowboy boots went into this thing, and then went back out, but he has this confidence to them that I think, is, you know, he was a one hundred sixty thousand sopping wet in high school. He was he was a he was even so out too late. So now he's got a little more size to him. And he's, he's special. I think he's going to be good. Major league pitcher. Well, what's holding them back because I see five walks thirty one strikeouts. Sixteen in third innings thirteen hits six runs in the league year in, you know that that's you know that's pretty darn good. You're right. I mean, you see guy in this league, sometimes you could have five, and he's dealing right. I mean just 'cause this, these ballparks elevation is so unfair. So he just he was. He's fun to watch. I, I look forward to his next start. I get excited. We had swore whereas today. So that'll be fun against Luzardo. Another good pitching matchup today. Very good last thing about Connor men is went to the master's college in Santa Clara, and last time I was in Santa Clarita, I think I got a speeding ticket, but I, I don't think I've ever heard of the master's college. Either until I did research or the guy. But yeah, these any I ain't school. He said it was pretty good competition, where I talked to him, but he he are. I, I don't know how many guys come out of the master's college to to get to the big leagues. I don't think they're too short list, but he he's, he's someone to keep an eye on for sure. Okay. Mark Redman and Jerry Owens, I looked it up. Okay. Nice mardi day. That's it. I'm a lawyer. You know that gonna look stuff. I like it. What about on the offensive side Dickerson is here? Of course, he went nuts last night. And you know, he's got potential twenty nine he's been in the big leagues before he's shown some power. But what what you know, he didn't do much for you guys. But I'll pass. Oh he crushed the ball. What do you think of his debut? Yeah. Incredible six B is the grand slam. It surpri, honestly, I'll be honest, the price that they called him. Oh, I just thought there are other guys here that would get the call before before him. But what do I know? You know, he goes up there and as the grand slam and six RBI's, but, you know, Slater's the cover off the ball us four four six last night. Zach greens hitting arabists is really starting to hit. We got this fairly league, obviously, we have guys went back gerbers has been really consistent, if you're so, yeah, you know, we have some guys that I think can just shows, you know, show that plate discipline. He's, he's doing well, so he's back in Tripoli after two months in AA. So we got guys it's gonna be interesting to see who they who, who goes up next. You had Shaw last year in AAA of you're right. I went to Richmond and start your now. He's back. You see a difference. I do. And you know he he's more more conscious of being a little more disciplined at the plate. You can tell when you know he he's what notice about Shaw. That he's he's going away. A little more is not afraid to, you know, they're, they're trying to he's trying to beat that shift and he's beating a couple of times on ground balls that would be to between the third baseman short. Stop that go in 'cause they're playing him obviously on the over ships. So he's taking advantage of that. I told him I said, listen, you know you lay down once in a while Brandon belt does he can do. They're giving you the hit and they do it all the time. And I don't want, you know take that home run power away but I mean I just don't understand like more guys. Don't take advantage of that over shift. And if you if they're giving it a hit, and you can do it master it and get get nine or ten year that way you know, they shipped a lot in the PCL. Oh my gosh. Mardi all the time. I mean, we play we play Fresno, and they shift on just about every they over shipped on this. But every hitter ninety five percents. It's incredible. Wow. Wow. I didn't realize that. That's that's interesting. I always thought maybe you know just let guys swing away. You know you wanna see the legitimate. But all right. I guess if you're gonna face in the big leagues. You might manage face in AAA. I did such a different game. I remember reading a book, and I saw the shift that they haven't Ted Williams have the over shift on Williams. I said, it'll never happen regularly a long time ago and all of a sudden now, look up and they do shifts all the time. I just can't believe more guys don't try to beat the shift. I, I don't really I guess they're so used to having a certain way that they don't, don't wanna change their approach or whatever some of these left handed power hitters. They just wait a little bit longer. Tammy T easy game from up here. If you could say harder to do when you're basing ninety five with movement, but I'm just surprised more guys. Don't don't take advantage of it. You know why Johnny Daska with Johnny always? Nice to have you with Dave Brundage. How's he doing? He's doing great. He's exciting. The all star all star manager. Oh, really reading. So he's excited and yeah, he's doing great. You know, run always had that positive attitude, and we had a couple of heartbreaking heart bringing a ten one lead and lost eleven ten. So he was not, not pleased with that. And then we had. Leave yesterday. Six two and a lot for the night winning at twelve to seven in ten innings. So he said, I don't know what I would have done it. We lost that game. So he's been his heart's been beating a little bit late late in games of late. But he's excited about the all star game. We have a TV the part of Bill last get some TV tonight back. Variance others worksite about that should be a fun weekend. Do you have replay? No. We don't every play at this level. I wish we did really, you know, you've probably saw that when the other one the other night. Probably yeah. I did. I saw that. You know, I I don't I wish we did. I'm not sure I do. It doesn't speed up the game at all. I mean, I, I don't mind the empire's missing the call down with that. I don't different are on this burns, go back and forth. And I just I don't know. I didn't replace kind of overdone now but they still listen on replays. We saw the other night with. Yeah. Well, I well, you know, here we'll let you go. I know..

"Another two to Akhundi strikes out swinging got him with the cutter on the inside. That's a good start for Sean Anderson, one away. All right. Let's spend a couple minutes. Sean Anderson, Sean background check. University of Florida. He was gator of passed up in high school. He was draft in the fortieth round, by the Washington nationals you pick in the draft. Yeah. My guys in the Boston. Red Sox selected him in the third round of the two thousand sixteen draft and, hey, real nice start with the giants, Sean. Thanks for coming on here for a few minutes. Let's start from scratch. You just felt I'd rather go to college for a short time, then go in Zeh fortieth round draft choice with Washington. How's it going is going on morning? Yeah. I mean that was kind of a no brainer. University of Florida was grade school to go to for education in baseball. So when I got that called the fourth round day they offered me, and I told like a we're on a Florida, not really not really where I wanna be at, at that point. That's what, what was cool though. I was going to say about your debut is to how many members of your family were there. Exactly. So it was my mom dad brother trainer from back home. Best friend girlfriend and my agent. Yeah. Now, the TV did a great job of, you know, whenever something went year way they were right. Read on top of your family. It was hopefully you've gotta tape for that to save for all time. Did you know I didn't I'm sure though, better show, mom and dad doing doing their thing. We nervous. Obviously felt a little tangle. But was this something where you go man? I've never felt this way making your major league debut. Not too much. I felt pretty comfortable at pretty ready. Most prepared I had Aramis catching me which which was great. Because he's called me a million times in the minor leagues. You know I feel pretty comfortable. I scouted the Blue Jays for a little bit. I had a game plan. And I was ready to go, you know, who was your team growing up. I say you went to American heritage high school in plantation, Florida where you were you a Marlins fan rays fan Yankees fan. Who's, who's your team as a kid actually grew up watching the Red Sox a little bit. I really enjoyed watching Curt Schilling pitch my, my aunts from Boston, and she lived in Tampa for a little bit with us when I was growing up and she always had Red Sox games on. And I watched them with her and kinda grew up, just watching the Red Sox. That's cool. And then they drafted you we mentioned that you were drafted high school by the nationals, but out of Florida. The Red Sox took in the third round in twenty sixteen. Would that had. Be an incredible thrill. You probably had no idea at the time that they were interested. We'll talk a little bit about that day. And what that was like, I'm gonna spend a throw. Awesome experience. I had my mom. My mom with me in Gainesville. And the Red Sox took me, I, I was told maybe five minutes before that. The Red Sox were about to take me and I mean that's dream, you know, to get drafted, and that's where you all your hard work come into play. So when they announced my name on TV that as the Red Sox, I mean, that's a, that's a dream, right there. And I was excited to star pro ball ready. And we were finishing up at the college World Series. And I was ready to be shipped off to wherever they need to be. Yeah. Cup more minutes. Sean Anderson, new giant, we're getting annot I would imagine growing up. You're always good hitter because, you know, especially the first game you get to base hits. And I just looked like. How about this? You don't hit like a normal major league pitcher. You like that. I like that. Yeah but you were grown up your good hitter. I actually never hit high school. You're wow. We had we had a designated hitter in high school at American heritage. So I just mainly pitched and then I went to college, and it was pitch or, or hit and obviously pitching and didn't didn't hit in college either. And then came to pro ball and drafted by the, the Red Sox, I didn't hit with the Red Sox either until I until I came here count from then or you just lucky. Was it a day? So last year I wasn't a very good hitter and going into my my off season meetings. Dave brundage. Hey something you really work on this off season? Is you're hitting. And okay, so I actually worked with air, miss this offseason on hitting a little bit. Not a bunch, but on hitting a little bit. So I kind of had a out kind of a base on hitting. And then now I'm just trying to put the ball and play. And then this, this spring training at work, a lot of bunting. So I think just just putting the past year has helped me a lot. We're trying to show. Anderson giants righty on the guest line. Of course. Giants and D-Backs go tonight, the first of the weekend series, July twenty fifth twenty seventeen. That was the day. Bobby Evans traded add water Nunez, to Boston for you, and Gregory Santos. And then I saw you pitching. The futures game may be was that was at twenty eighteen was last year in the futures game. What was as far as that experience because that's like, maybe your first go round in a big league park where you nervous for that futures game. That was that was awesome. There, there were so many people in that stadium. I I wasn't I mean. Seem like that. I mean, there's always nervous going, I wouldn't say I was nervous. I was on excited for that opportunity. I got to represent the giants in front of thousands of people and, and against the best town in the minors. You know and. Great. And it was it was an awesome experience, like I said to represent the giants. Yeah. That trade was crazy. I had no idea that, that I was gonna get traded either. I got a call at midnight that said, I was traded and didn't really have any formation. Some we'll call me and cows a heat shock for me, but I was looking forward to the experience after I talked to you, and Bobby Evans after they welcomed me to giants, the I'm always curious looks like you're going to be up at the very least for for a while. The giants put you up in a hotel, you get an apartment, how does this work? So, so the giants do great job. They put shipping hotel for a little bit until you till you find somewhere. We go on the road for for about a week, we can half after the Sunday. So I'll be the hotel till then and I think I have apartment lined up for when I get back. But right now all my stuff in my car and. Live out of my car right now. That's all right. And there's no way like go to the giants and say before I get this apartment, I wanna make sure I'm going to be rolling with you guys for while. No. The giants do a great job. Even if you don't they make sure you're comfortable housing and everything. So I really pride them on on care of their players for sure. I love watching you pitch so far. I mean you definitely a four pitch guy, you know, mid nineties on the fastball, and, and curveball change pretty nice little slider. What would you say is your is your, the strength of your of your arsenal at this point? Fastballs a month, I suppose my strength since the base of all the pitches and really worked on this year. And AAA starting spring training was making sure that all four my pitches could be pitches and all four my pitches could be thrown anytime they count, you know, and, and just given that Bixby. Well, so all four for strikes at any point as really has really helped me this this year, so far so something that I worked on. And but I mean you always got to be able to your fastball anytime, as well is the any veteran in that clubhouse so far kind of been a bit a key guy for you, as far as helping you, you know, helping along a little bit is there anybody you want to single out. I mean they're all great guys mean everyone from the bullpen starters. Mean busters done a great job. There's just so much experience in there and there's so much knowledge on the game. You know. And you could really go to anyone, and they're all welcoming, and they're all really just, they'll wanna win, you know. And I mean that's great. That's a great clubhouse to being. All right. Young man. Appreciate the start your off to for shit. You coming on for a few minutes start as WHEN Sunday Cundy, all right now you're a gator, you knew us a famous gator connected. The giants baseball. Oh my gosh. Go ahead Martin Laurie LLC party. Larry also have you done it? Your I sit down with the great martyr yet? His gentleman. Where's it cap real nice guy? You guys are both Gators. So you can get you got that going together. I didn't know that. I didn't know he was gator. He's tomorrow. You have a bad start. He'll defend you. Congrats on on making it to the bigs, and it was an awesome scene for giants fans to see your family. Get that excited the other night and keep it rolling man. Hopefully hopefully you're here to stay with love to see it. Yeah. Have that guy for the giants. Get you that tape? Believe me, you're going to want to have your mom and dad, put that in the in the garage, and you can look at it in thirty years and say, man, that was that was pretty nice start for the family, you know. Yeah. For sure. Need to get that. All right. Sean. Good luck. Thanks, sean. Larry, thanks for having me. All right. That's Sean Anderson from the judge. We'll come back. I've been laughing kids.
