"We earlier I'm GonNa, I'M GONNA share this here earlier today we spoke with Brandon Scholtz of field goals. The espy nation site that covers the Seattle seahawks I actually had the privilege also going on his show and talking about the trade he talked a little bit about Carlos Dunlap. His. Potential role with going forward with the Seattle Seahawks as well as bj Finney, the offensive Lineman, the bengals got in the trade gave us a little bit of inside inside of that. So I, WANNA share this interview, it's about. Twelve or so minutes enjoy that it was myself and Brandon scholtz talking we're GonNa talk about a little bit more about what the bengals are doing with the roster. We're GONNA talk about the Cleveland Browns game, and then of course, we're going to preview the titans with Denard Walker part of the believe in Titans podcasts. So for now enjoy this. Interview with Brandon. Scholtz of field goals. The orange black insider wrangles podcast is happy to be joined by Brandon Scholtz of field goals. He runs their podcast over there. We've got this nice blossoming relationship between our show and with Brandon we're GONNA be talking about the Carlos dunlap trade a little bit from the seahawks side of things as well as get some insight on j Finney before we do brandon how you doing man I'm doing well, it's. I know that both of us are coming off of disappointing losses both thirty, seven, thirty, four and I. So I, you know we can console each other a little bit after this Sunday, and. Just, hope that better things are ahead for both our teams or here's the thing i. mean you guys are five and one were one, five and one. So it's a little bit different. A. Little bit different. I mean. Just you got the number one overall pick we got Russell Wilson. It's you know we're we're in good quarterback. Shame. This is just a little bit just a little bit but at least the bangles do look to be in good shape at the quarterback position. But we're not here to talk about that. Unfortunately, we are here to talk about what transpired. Wednesday. Afternoon I guess let's start with what's The seahawks received the Cincinnati Bengals in veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap need one thing I always marvel about brandon with the Seattle seahawks is they never seem to be content even when they are one of the top teams in the NFL in never seem to be content with what their current roster construction is. They are always looking to improve and often times with a valuable veterans. So what what's kind of the pulse of seahawks fans is dunlap makes his way to Seattle. Well, this is something that I think that seahawks fans are frustrated didn't happen earlier not necessarily with getting dunlap, but just getting defensive line help in general in the off season, they identified defensive line as being a big issue they went out they signed Bruce Irvin to come back to the team, but he mainly plays strong side linebacker but. He does have a history of of sacking the quarterback. So there was hope there they signed Benson Mayo in the off season, not a top name defensive line talent but at least somebody that can come in and provide production and he's been the most productive as Russia to this point this season there was some hope that gw and cloudy would come back in the off season. He wanted too much money he ends up going to. The titans late in the off season when it was kind of you know every other move had been made Everson Griffen signed with the cowboys. All the other free agents had come off the books and really clowney was the only guy that was left and for him not to come back to Seattle it really I think changed their off season plans entirely of of what they were looking to do along the defensive line and. We saw regime green go down early who is a former third round pick who is kind of coming into his third year or so a lot of patients there they signed Daryl Taylor or they drafted Daryl Taylor and the second round traded up to get him he's been injured. So they're just a lot of injuries at the position. Reuven. Goes down to injury so. They're really stuck just having to find a way to make moves and then for for Carlos Dunlap to become available after seeing Everson Griffen then traded to the Detroit lions I think this was one of the the best moves out there that was available and I think seahawks fans couldn't be happier with what they had to give up to get a guy like dunlap. We'll talk about that in just a second DC dunlap being a starter right away or just kind of a heavy rotator right away. He's a guy by the way that you know he he plays edge, but he has kicked inside on passing downs and he can do. Multiple. Things there. But is this guy you see seeing heavy snaps right away based on what you're talking about with injuries and everything on the defensive line I think. So it will depend on regime green is supposed to be back this week and they kind of have similar body type and play similar position. So I think what's it but he's coming back from a neck. Injury so those can be serious and you never really know how somebody is going to respond from that. So I think that will depend a lot on on how this rotation ends up going. It's I know we won't see him for this forty niners game coming up this. Sunday. But he could be helpful to have against Josh.

"You know weeks ten am kickoff says they had to travel to where do they go philly and then back home and then to buffalo and they had to do at the day before. So you're flying all day Saturday for these guys and then waking up Sunday morning at five am on your clock. Who can be a little bit challenge? Can I go back to something? You said there because I think there's probably some Seahawk Fans Kinda screaming right now listening to podcasts and saying, Hey I get all that with Pete you know for six seven, eight years as far as that development thing goes right taking people in Richard and Kim and Cato in that whole story in really developing them. But what evidence since Ken Norton's coordinated this of the last almost two and a half years? Do we see that? Over the last two years plus do we do we see a defense? It's getting better. Do we see development of Leno Hill? Thomson Shaquille Griffin Trey Flowers, and do we see Development Defense Machine Green? Do we see that? Have you? Can we say that confidently with Ken Norton Coordinator Wells couple of all of the names you just mentioned probably not, but we can throw back a few others I know it's may be year one to your to I. Don't know if that's good enough for you but you just said L. J. Call Your looks better. Puna Ford looks better. I think you would say Jarran Reed in his time here I. think that was all under Ken Norton got better from the beginning on she'll Google Ahmadi would be killed Griffin better from your two to three. So I mean, there are some examples, the other way, but it's not the old wholesale like, Hey, this guy came in as a project and then flourished in developed. We haven't seen that blossoming element that they used his Justin Coleman here during that time. His his development years ago is he wasn't bitter for to still want to my point. You were still twenty six in the league in yards against I. Mean you still gave up you know just. I'm just trying to go to the specifics of guys gotten better. Some haven't some have. So. But nowhere near the explosion that you had the first half decade but his that because of the development her because you didn't draft guys that were as good as Richard Sherman and Kam. Chancellor. There's such a chicken and the egg. So I think you can make an argument brock that they will get better defensively and and while they're absolutely injury riddled right now, all the teams are going to go through this this year just the way the whole offseason was and I mean everyone's going to go. A. Lot of. Injury riddled or more than you are. So while. It is a little depressing watching it. Hard I. Just I feel like I'm watching Payton's colts I. It's tough. You watch them or like the old rams you know it's like they cruise right down the field and then you sit and like hang onto your hat while the defense gets work I mean it. It really is remarkable turn where you're wondering, can they get a stop? Can they just get if they get a stop you just celebrate them getting stopped because you know you put it back in Russell's hand and honestly for five years you like, okay. Can Russell in the group assessable? Can they run home? My Gosh took. Like, if they just scored twenty points, so they're just GonNa win congratulations. Now you look like every other. Pete Carroll get an incredible amount of respect for letting this happen and not forcing them to continue down that road like he knew that this was going to be a disaster. He watched the trend line. He knew he didn't have the resources to get a real defense that you know what I'm just going to add some secondary place or maybe able to take away the ball Quinton Donmar Jamal Adams, and then I'm just GonNa let Russ and I'm truly not going to look back. I'M NOT GONNA stand in the way of this thing changing and as a result, they one of the most exciting teams in outage. Here there is no way in the world in August Pete Carroll thought he would not have a much better defense. There is no I got Bruce Irvin Naresh Got Benson Mayo Trapped Daryl Taylor I love Salton Robinson's unique skill set eljay is going to be better. We bring in Quin Dunbar who can take the ball away we trade for Jamal Adams here we go. Again, a chance to be elite defensively there is no way in the world you could convince me both on the air off the air driving home to Kirkland, hanging out with P. wherever we were that he would not think in his mind like. We're going to have a chance to be that that you know get back to to what we were. So you're saying that Russell Wilson John Schneider and Brian Schottenheimer pull the fleas over Pete Carroll's is and said Hey we're going to move all these chess pieces around him and he's not going to actually see what happens. We're to change this team right underneath him and then he's going to show up and realize Oh, this is completely different than I anticipated it would be Pete or a shoddy and Schneider and Russell. But more importantly wrestle in Russell's team in Russell's leverage in what Russell is in that building and shoddy himself away You Know I. Don't know what five hundred feet up into the press box away from that scene on the sidelines during Game Day yes. Those two with decay metcalf and Tyler Lockett in a in a better offensive line in even. Greg Olsen, the other offensive addition you know we're GonNa have to do it. They know it behind the scenes absolutely. Howdy saying okay. We got score thirty, game thirty, five game. Let's go. Let's take our shots super-efficient kipness. A throw gotta hit all these shots down the field got gotta make. We're not gonNA, just run run pass run run past punt we're not gonNA play the punt we're play. Score we're GONNA use four downs to do it and number three your take more control of that alongside co-piloting with with Schottenheimer to speak to to salt pointing this team this team. So yeah, I. Think he took a much much more initiative in that not to pull the wool over pizza is nothing goes you know that happens it then go through him but ultimately, what's what's coach going to? Do when it's touchdown touchdown touchdown, there's fourteen touchdowns in the first three games. That's what you just did. You just said an all-time NFL record. So keep chugging, keep doing what you're doing and keep scoring points. I'm a think pizza ever again been against scoring points out. Don't you think there's something in between here where where the wool was clearly got pulled over pizza is Pete didn't wake up on. Your you're throwing the ball. What I know is the oldest coach in the League but he's not adult. Just fine showed up to twenty twenty, three defensive tackles and one of them was a practice squad guy and yet they're defensive. The Interior Defensive Line is with the best of. Everybody to pass on them all game day force the new gas by having a fifteen point lead the first five minutes of every game. Well, I mean, that's not true they. They've been down in each of the last couple of games early right Down to the Patriots through our pick six right off the bat. So that's not entirely true. They have done a pretty good job of stopping the run. You had credit nobody pulled the wool over pizza is used it I. Don't know that being said, he probably doesn't deserve some credit I think for for. For being open minded, but I think he was forced into it. I don't think you have much of a choice i. think he was kind of faced with either make some adaptation or Russell's GonNa eventually bail here. I know he's under contract we can't be traded but quarterbacks of so much leverage if they're done, they're done and if he decided, you know what? I'm done with this I'm absolutely not going to do this anymore. Pete Pete is at the mercy of.

"I mean I'm more of an edge guy. You want me inside. No. No we really do not The Bennett retired so that that's not how the NFL retired Michael Bennett. I mean gets Cedric Lattimore. Right Cedric Damarcus Christmas He didn't play, but he can see mark. Kay. L. J. Collier can move. Is that really what we're talking about in the Interior Defensive Line. That that's crazy or you look. Roster that is Brian is on the roster. Is there that is what a politician of strength for them throughout the years. They've always found that Allen branch. Right Mar Stephan? Yeah that that guy was just going to eat up. EAT UP! Defenders eat up a offensive linemen and Daniel. They've always fan those guys. I'm sure thanking. We're going to go out. There are a bunch of older veteran defensive Lineman that I've got their wear and tear in this league and play that little role, and and carve out that get big snacks out here possibly. Bossa! Snacks. I can't disclose that information right, I mean flukes not here anymore, so it's not like you'd have to take them on and practice. You get big snacks here. Or just going to run on right that that is the group where it is. You know I was I was chatting on the morning. Show this week. Just kind of talking about what would be a disappointment for this season for the Seahawks, and if you go nine and seven and missed the playoffs, and why is it that I mean that's going to be group? You'RE GONNA point too, because they believe in that building unlike Kyle. They believe that machine green can take another step. From four and a half to seven and a half, and they believe Bruce Irvin's going to get eight or nine sacks, and they believe that L. J. Collier can be a contributor in starter in a difference maker in time, and we'll get his feet. Welcome grow this season and you know they believe those things, and then you know they. They've got to get something. I know you giving them nothing but Daryl Taylor and I mean they've you've got yet. I'm not buying that you've got to. I'll buy into L.. J. Collier is a better player than he was a year ago. I'll buy into. We'll get a little bit more from regime green assault. Sprinkled in as a rookie at least a time. High season and everything else. Areas Aren't going to have their replay. Stick around that you traded for. This guy is a forty eight pick. You came up and you traded for nearly willing to take in the first round I over under on Sax for Darryl. Tell this year's one. Yup, I'm in on that and we want the over I'm absolutely taken that number after my George Fan projection season. Go I will take you. To take over under one by the way twelve, that'd be great. Yes, I'm rooting for him. Don't get me wrong, but it's hard for me to imagine that a rookies going to come in right away this year with no preseason with a weird offseason and a weird training camp and everything else and contribute. Contribute normally for how many saxophone Clark has rookie year. Two. Or One and a half, so so I don't think. It's too crazy on Derek. Taylor July twenty first. There is another move to be made I. Continue to hold out that hope. I, think these guys are too smart, so which they can look at that and go. You know what I don't agree with pro football focus, but it's not like we're thirty to thirty one hundred. Fifty they go away might be fourth. Yeah, but they're not fifth. They're not anywhere near the top fifteen. Right in their. Their production speaks van. Their experience speaks for that so I. There's I'm still holding out plenty of hope that an organization that has made moves the eleventh hour. An organization that is willing to take on some risk and organization that is willing to play. The game to the final minute is sitting here looking as they. They did a year ago with the clowney move and whether it's Yana Gawk way whether it's cloudy, whatever it is some of these veteran defensive linemen. I still hold hope that they know. They know in their heart of hearts that what they have on paper right now. Heading into the season is not good enough to win your division when the wanted to be. A to me. It's still cloudy even if he is a even if he's limited practice participant, he's a bright lights guy. He's a production guy. He's a disruption guy and he does not cost you other than I. Think this season some some real millions of dollars for this season. He doesn't cost you cap space down the road. He doesn't cost you. Draft picks down. The road is an gakuen Jamal Adams, and other moves woods, so to me and I put that in a poll question and I think that was the overwhelming candidate for fans out there nearly sixty percent of them, said the same thing. Find a way to get a deal done with that guy. Even if it means a little bit of money this year, even if it means, he gets nicked up and injured, and you only have eight or nine. You've kind of left yourself not much of a choice I mean if you want to continue to compete with in Russell, Wilson's prime which you're in right now. And you have. The thirty second ranked ranked group in the second most position, but most important position after quarterback. But you have to decline. He's on that team where he probably due to the twenty fifth or the twenty. What if it's cloudy and snacks? And I and I'm not saying that snacks as I understand that now that I know who he is, he's no longer the player he used to be and that he's available. For Reason. That's not I'm not looking at him as a savior. I'm looking at I'm just as depth because quite frankly if you have an injury to Poona, Ford or Jarran Reed. Your thrown Brian Monet out there, or what was the guy's name Donaldson I know Christmas? Who Was the enemy centric? Lattimore. Started defense place at the table. Edrich lattimore. Who is that my order? The next call and call. It sounds like to me. I will guy let's go. It sounds exactly like that's what he is so. Yeah. At agit Evian, cloudy and snacks, or someone like him, whatever you ranked twentieth, maybe low twenties. At least that's doable. It's still not where you want to be, but you got Russell Wilson? You got a pretty good pretty good group of WEAP- like you can start to write. What you what you're going to look at all. Your lottery tickets that you think are gonNA work out now. If they actually do out then you have an average to above average defense and you got a quick Dunbar. That's obviously going to help the secondary cutting people down, so hey, by the way to do something like. Can I just say a little something here? Little Kudos to the NFL to and I think in this time, and in this day and age you have to learn and be adaptive of what's going on around you and I think there are a lot of folks on Sunday. Twitter storm of all the players that came out and about thought Oh. Boy, here we go the NFL and Roger. Goodell and these guys and they're just not gonNA. They're gonNA. Get in. In the same or the baseball did right we're here. We're on the precipice of getting this going. They're going to play ball and they're not. GonNa know that it looks like by all accounts that they met the players and said okay. We're not going to do a baseball. We're just we've learned that lesson..

"We all agree with papers. You could hear you're just typing away. That's so good Brooks Brooks was was fifty one for me. So why do they? How do they see? It's so differently as it fit. Is it just fit? Do they just analyze the games? The film the measurable differently. How do you see? It's so differently than John. Smith Tina fifty-one flip. Those two numbers. Yeah Yeah it's Quite a bit different there. I mean the knock on Patrick Lane was that he was you know he was a little bit undersized with Brooks But the other thing people said of practitioners out he did. He didn't start until this season. Got Underway. I think it was the Lsu Game. What would the Lsu Texas is when he took over the starting position there and finding is though? Because I got it on that like how are you so high Patrick Queen? He didn't even start like yeah no the year before. He's playing behind Devon white us. Pretty good You know the top fifteen pick who played great as a rookie and Lsu has turned out so many of these guys that have quantum Alexander The list goes on and on and on the dion. Jones they've at Zillion linebackers. They've all for the most part. Been Pretty Darn good So I just thought he was more instinctive. I thought he was somebody that was really really good coverage in to go along with all the rain because you get the range with brooks like. He's got the speeding. Arrange the lateral stuff. This is off the charts But I didn't think he had the same cover ability And the same instincts. Overall she had their acquaint. Tell me a little bit. More about About the guard that they took Damian Lewis because and I thought the coverage was awesome. You guys did such a good job at the draft. But but the only thing I heard on Damian Lewis right after he was drafted was well. He's part of a pretty good offensive line at Lsu. And I know that sounds like the James Carpenter or no that sounded like the James Carpenter. Pink from a few years ago. Well the line in Alabama was good. What was he good all right? What is Damian Lewis? Better than that. Yeah he I mean he look. He's a power player So it's Kinda interesting I mean. He's he's a different body type than fluker but he's you know he's the same type of player which he can kind of. Malaya in the run game. He's going to lunch and get out of position a little bit some pass protection but just real physical. The always the problem with him. I was actually coming one of my buddies. I think it was. I won't I won't take it was named. Gm GM and the League and We're talking about Damian. Lewis in the run up to the draft. And he goes. What are they gonNA Damian Lewis? I I liked him. He's like he's my ninety first player. You know I. I think that. Chance to be a starter. Everything's fine like man. I can't stand him I go. What did you watch? Did YOU WATCH AUBURN? He goes yeah. I just Yeah I said Derrick. Brown does that to everybody but he he. He got crushed by route in that game like it was bad but that was by far the worst that he played than I thought he did a good job. If Arkansas defensive tackle good player he did well against him so it's nice in the NFC WEST. Yeah EMC Western at the block anybody nobody in La Cisco. It'll be fine. Just now you're gonNa tell me Aaron Donald Difficult very about it it'll be fine the NFC with just a bunch of grow hunt to help double team though once it's over there and throws his you've got okay. Dini playing quarterback. Okay Gimme Gimme a positive. Give Me Give Me Daryl Taylor. Give me the upside because that to me you trade up in the second round and actually you know the the the drafts have been a little bit leaner the last four or five years for John and crew than they were the first few but when they've come up draft for decay metcalf when they came up in the draft for Jerry when they came up in the draft for Tyler Lockett when they come up in the draft around that area. All those guys were drafted somewhere in the late. Second to third round when they've come up and done that it's actually been a hit. The hit rate's pretty high. Tell me why Taylor is going be yet. Well first of all that speaks conviction right. You don't make those types of movies unless you have conviction in the room and usually when you have conviction that means you liked the player and you also have a plan for him so That's why I think you see a higher hit rate when when you go after guys like that but if you watch him in twenty eighteen. He looked like a first round pick. Explosive can create knockback. He has a real powerful stuttered bold move that he had But then this year he had the shoulder was not same guy and did not play well especially when they stepped up in competition so that was kind of the issue with him but And he's not he's not he's not gonNA be a great run player but he definitely has juice and twitch Coming off the edge. I think if you'd have been healthy enough to compete in the senior bowl you would have had more buzz coming off that experience. But he kinda was somebody was Kinda laying in the weeds and then a week or two before the draft. I started getting a lot of buzz on him. And I know a couple of teams are targeting him in second round and we're talking about him in the second round and then I always actually told in somebody new that the seahawks really liked them so I was told. Don't be surprised if they took him in the first route This is probably a week week or two before the draft. So you knew that. That was the player they were targeted. Other teams are looking at him. I know two teams. That are really really hoping to him. It didn't come away with him so he was like he was like around the league. But again you just got to keep healthy and You hope that you get the twenty eighteen version. Dj You said that you gotta come away or you hope to come away with three starters in a draft. How often are you supposed to come up with real impact players? I think that's difficult. I mean in an ideal world the adding one a here right like big big time You know big time guys. You know it's I guess. There's two ways looking impact you looking at are you talking about impact like above the starter level. Or are you talking about three starters? Plus that I guess what? I'm here's where the question comes from so we've talked a lot here about what the have done in the draft over the last really since the Russell Wilson draft of two thousand Twelve Russell and Bob because at that point that was sort of the last few big draft pieces they came together for them in addition to Cam and earl on Ochoa and all those guys who had already been taken and since then I. I'd say they've come up with three or four real impact guys in the draft. They've had a bunch of starters. Don't get me wrong but you have Tyler Lockett you got Frank Clark and then either Jarran Reed or decay metcalf elite and see what happens with decay. You know going forward. They've got three or four impact guys that they've drafted since two thousand twelve and I'm trying to figure out whether that's enough because there have been some other solid picks there again. I'm not trying to rip John. That's not my God love Johnny. He's done for the most part of really good job but I think that there's a question here about whether or not they've gotten enough out of these last. What is now eight draft seven plus this year since two thousand twelve and two only have three or four impact guys there? It doesn't seem like enough especially when you're paying your quarterback top dollar. Yeah Yeah I would say that the two two points out to me number one. The challenges is that if you look at like inside that division and you look at the impact players. The forty niners have been adding They're picking a lot higher so they have better odds to go up there and get some of those impact players so that's a little bit of the part of it. Is there a victim of drought success? Picking towards the bottom of the route but the other side of that is I have personal experience from having been in Baltimore where every year for a long stretch and they've continued to do it they they're able to find you know in the in the twenties. I think you'd look at you know Ed Reed. I think I think Ray was reading the twenty one. St Ray was in the twenty S. Todd heap was in the twenties You know we have a lot of guys over the years that were picked in that range. That were big time impact player so it can be. The challenge is definitely greater But it can be done. I just I the hope would be. You'd have one you know impact player and usually it's going to be your first round pick every now and then you're going to stumble into one and the third fourth row Marshall Janda Third Brown for example and obviously the seahawks hawks have had their guys. They've found outside the first round. So you're going to have years where you get those. But I would say target would be three starters and one you know we would say blue level player like a blue chip player. You're hoping to get one of those year. It's A. It's a curious one because they stumbled. I don't WANNA say stumbled. They had so many of them at the beginning. I mean they were coming up two or three a year and I don't know whether this is just you know the odds kind of evening out over time or whether something has changed in their in their evaluation. You're right Ray. Lewis was the number twenty six pick They've traded out of the first round a few times but lock. It's a third round or Clark's a second rounder. Decay was the second round almost a third rounder. Last pick of the second round. But you find do you find positional blind spots like in Baltimore? Receiver was our blind spot. So what happens you miss you miss out on Mark Clayton and then you keep chasing it you know and you keep chasing those -sition so if you look at them. I mean hasn't the offensive line. If you look at the resources they've thrown resources be off tongue. Got It right all right well. We'll see what happens. I hope that one of these guys are being an impact guy. Would really. It would really go long way with Russell. Wilson's prime and all that you just can't afford to have these drafts where you miss onto safeties and cornerback all in one draft..

"Late in the down a lot of times. That's the foundation that Niner's game where they were killing San Francisco. They did that. Probably Twenty five times in. That game is incredible. They just did it. Snap after snap. Who's the guy that's going deep now because it used to be brandin cooks? They don't have anyone with that kind of speed. Now on the on the flip side though. Brandin cooks was struggling a lot against press coverage at times so when he was not afforded a bunch of help from the scheme the designs. When it wasn't play action he could be taken out of some games which is part of the reason he was available for trade so I would assume they feel. Jefferson will be better in that regard out. But it's you give up something. If if this guy could run the way cooks runs and still be as big as he is not get pressed he'd be Julio Jones and then we're not talking about it was the second round pick up and then the rest of the day to hear they had two of their picks Terrell Lewis the Alabama edge who You know injury prone guy would have gone higher. Had it not been? For some durability concerns you presumably you pendulum into sort of Dante Fowler rule and then a Tyrrell Burgess the Utah Safety who converted. Cornerback I don't know if he's quite rangy athletic enough to be a single high type guy but he did a lot of different things in in. Utah's defense and data pretty advanced Approach there and I assume he can help early. I would imagine they'll have them be the single high because if it's not him who who is it then it's not rap because we know he's a linebacker guy. Aaron Donald Good at that to jump in John Johnson's at his best as box guy down there Johnson could probably play. Single high is good all around player. But I would imagine burgess is here for his ability to play center field. I know the rams staff likes Marcus Williams who they liked him as a rookie. When he was with the saint he still in New Orleans but Williams came out of. Utah's well it doesn't mean that Burgess will be Williams but I would be surprised if burgess is not the single high guy but I don't know a lot about them I again. I don't study these guys they get to the NFL okay. Let's and I should mention real quick. Just because I just saw this factoid. The Rams did take a tight end. Bryson Hopkins of Purdue and round four Did you know Tyler Higby in the month? December last five games of the season Tyler. He led the NFL receiving yards. I would not have gone that far. I knew he was very productive. I didn't know that he was that productive. Yeah he had A. I had the number up. I lost it. I I believe that it is If I remember five hundred twenty two yards over those last five games and he played. It wasn't just that always catching the past. Now he was a he was more athletic. He'd looked more abiotic down the stretch and one thing. I've been watching rams film quite a bit. Actually lately Gary is he is very good higby at releasing inside and creating space for himself off the snap. He's become a highlight. He has become a high level route runner. Let's go to the San Francisco. Forty niners They picked up that thirteenth. Pick For Deforest buckner and they ended up trading down one spot with the Bucks Antique Giovane Kim Law South Carolina. We talked a little bit about it. A lot of people say like Oh they trade buckner for Kim Law and they did but you know the treaty Buckner at twenty million dollars for kin law at a much less than that and that's kind of how life goes at this point. It has to because they had to resign. Eric Armstead and then Brandon Iowa who we talked about as I said he is Probably a better version of Jerry rice adding to the offense. I love rain and he's absolutely perfect there. I did I sit on the Friday. Show if if you miss I I think he's a slightly more dynamic version of deebo Samuel Really like my attention. Because I think you'll Samuel is a man I do too. I agree with that but the you know they made three day three picks. We're not GONNA dive too deep into those guys. But obviously they added Trent Williams. Joe Staley announces his retirement. They go out and get Williams. Obviously we haven't seen Williams in a in a while now but you would think that this is a this is a pretty good trade offer them. And we'll see how Trenton Williams ages into his thirties here but at least in the short term they've solidified that spot and when we last saw Trent Williams he was the most outstanding. I'd save an explosive blocker out in space on their perimeter probably in the NFL. He is really good in the screen game. He's really good at what they call running the alley getting down kind of by the painted numbers and clearing out space there. And when you consider all the misdirection that they do all the stretch zone all end arounds to Samuel and some of the screens that they'll throw in San Francisco having a guy like Trent Williams. That can do that to get to the perimeter. You could almost argue. That guy's a weapon now. I mean that's that's I think he'll fit really well for what they do in Shanahan and obviously knows very well because there's The Washington background over all their that was a really good trade and a good commentary on the niners organization. That Joe Staley went along with this and didn't break the news to anybody till after the trade which I don't know if that's how it went but reading the tea leaves. That's probably how it went. Staley did right by the organization on that and you know he would probably only do that if the organization had been doing right by him for a long time. Yeah and I should mention respected private citizen. Peter King in his Monday column he was embedded with the box and we talked a little bit on Friday. The bucks up one spot you know was someone else bidding for that forty niners pick. And that's why they had to pay for that sort of thing Jason told Peter that he had heard rumblings Joe Staley was retiring so they thought the forty niners might be in the running for a Tristan wharfs. Who was the last sort of Of the big four tackles on the board in this race. And that's why the bucks felt even more urgency to jump up to thirteen so we wondered about that. What did they say to the bucks on the phone that made them make that trade? Because the niners to us. We didn't know that Joe. Staley thing it didn't look and John Lynch actually said the opposite. Joe Staley will be back here. That was a smokescreen so we were wondering how that conversation happened. I I don't know who told Jason like that. I would guess to be an agent if I had to guess. But that's that's total guesswork. And that's that's where a lot of the information comes from the Seattle seahawks so the seahawks they take Jordan Brooks the Texas Tech linebacker and Dernley up to the draft we earn more and more teams really like Jordan Brooks I know obviously add Bobby Wagner cage a right Those guys are getting up there and Brooks at the very least becomes an option for the future but I mean they they play a lot of three LINEBACKERS SEATTLE. They do and so. I'm wondering if it's one of two things why. Why are you taking brooks because remember last year they drafted Cody Barton in the third round? Pete Carroll said Cody Barton's our best coverage linebacker already or at least they feel he can become bad Okay yeah no I know I hear you but let's get the here's the point here is we can agree on this. They feel good about its coverage skills. Yes he's not. As good as right I would imagine in Wagner who are the low overrated and coverage. But he's a very excellent player in hall of Fame Guy. So Cody Barton's in the mix. He's going to play for them so now they've got four linebackers that they're planning to play in the next couple of years is Brooks here because keys replacing K J right which is quite possible writes in a contract year. I believe is he replacing Bobby Wagner as well since Barton's here to theoretically replace right is that are we seeing a total change of the guard over the next two years or are the seahawks going to stay committed to this four? Three approaches keeping three linebackers on the field. Not playing with Slot Nickel Corner. Is that going to become the standard for them? Because they really did not address that position in free agency at all this year I think the best slot guy on on the field for they were probably quandary digs. And that's not how they use them. He's a free safety so I wonder if they're going to stick with US four three thing. Yeah it's a I was again. We talked a lot how there was sort of a lack of edge rushers. And they did take Daryl Taylor in the second round. I thought he was very good at Tennessee. Really an edge burner So maybe they address it there. Maybe they didn't like anyone at the end of the first round. Of course they trade out of the first round every year. So if you didn't like anyone figure that's what they would have ended up doing but They do add Daryl Taylor in round two. That's kind of all they've done is David Clowney GonNa be back. That might be function of. Is anyone else going to take the risk on? Cloudy when when your doctors can't sort of put your hands on them. Maybe that changes this summer but Look I I I don't want you further enrage seahawks fans because I said this all last season. This defense got a lot of takeaways. Those takeaways were. I mean they had a lot of fumble recoveries. I it just and it's not a front for you would've looked at and said like well. There's really disrupted. I can see why they were getting so many strip sacks and fumble recovery. I think they were just sort of. Yeah big got him in clusters when maybe they shouldn't have been coming closer so again. This is a team. They finished plus eighteen point differential. They had a lot of opponents. Missed field goals over the course of the year. I was hoping they'd be a little bit more aggressive. And sort of rebuilding. This defense is off season and they weren't and I mean look. They win every year so I probably shouldn't criticize him. But I thought they'd be seventy nine last year and what I think facial eleven and five words. That was at their final right they were. This has been. This is a really really well run organization top to bottom They end up going. Damian Lewis the guard from lsu really a fire hydrant type. A dude Pure Power Guy Guard and yeah. We'll we'll see it's GONNA play. He'll play for him now because they got rid of. Dj fluker Yohanes a fourth round. Pick a year ago. I don't know anything always. He was not on the field last year. I don't know a lot about him but that's the kind of lyman they've been getting. Its these bigger north and south guys. Seahawks used to be an outside zone running team back with marshawn. Lynch is here. Even though Lynch never stretched he always kept it. Frontside just cut it up inside but the blocking structure was outside zone. They're not that kind of blocking Mississippi. More it's more of a power man-to-man downhill north and south kind of running game yet. They moved on from Justin Brit as well. So yeah. They're changing things up on offense of line again. And before I add you just want to mention the number was sixteen Fumble takeaways last year. Which I just a lot. I don't think is sustainable with what they have. I mean that was tied for second. The steelers were ahead with eighteen. The Buck also had sixteen. You look at the steelers and the bucks those are very disruptive pass rushes Especially coming off the edge and used. Don't have that in Seattle I. I don't know if they can count on another sixteen pummel takeaways next season. That's when we're talking about the forty niners in the reverse lasted twenty eighteen. They had seven takeaways. And then they they rammed up that pass rushing and it just took off and that was. That was the big difference last year. But enough of the twenty nine thousand nine recap. Let's let's move onto the AFC south the Atlanta Falcons kind of just a straightforward draft. I mean they had three picks in the top one hundred and they kind of addressed. What I think people would have seen as needs with the steam they take. Ag Terrell de Long Quarter cornerback from Clemson in round one stylistically. He fits you know that whole seahawks corner thing that we've heard about what Dan Quinn and there's probably something to that is as Oliver who will probably be there number three corner now because I think they like kindle Sheffield quite a bit their fourth round. Pick a year ago but Isaiah Oliver's another long bodied. Guys they're drafting similar types of corners in recent years. Are you reading the next guy going down the list and I'm talking about each guy? Is that how we're doing this team? Sure let's do it that way Marlon Davidson Defensive End. But really more of a Guy. I think he reduce them inside on on passing downs. You know. He's he's a guy. Believe with Derrick Brown really really good. I really like them. But you know we talked a lot about the need for sort of an edge burner. Here they did add Dante Fowler. So you do have an edge guy. So maybe they just sort of went Best Best Defensive Lineman available..

Seattle seahawks niners Joe Staley Marcus Williams San Francisco Jordan Brooks Tyrrell Burgess NFL Cody Barton Utah Rams Bobby Wagner Samuel Dante Fowler Daryl Taylor John Lynch SEATTLE Deforest buckner Julio Jones Terrell Lewis

"But a lot of people were watching highlights or bokor scouting. They're going to see that game and he's GonNa fall down so definitely. You're worried about that game against good competition but all right. Let's dig in here. Aj terrel Xavier mckinney. I mean I think those are probably if this situation happens like it's going on here I think it's GonNa come down to those two names i. I don't think that Kenneth Murray is a legit option at seventeen. I think it's a total bail out if they if they really have to. Just sell that. Pick as hard as possible. Navy moved back then. Just take You know best player available back in the draft that they like is it from character perspective But let's Rene era down exhibitor mckinney. Aj Daryl what are you? You're voting terrel here. Yeah we're being predictive. I think the pick is going to be terrible. I just I just had that feeling and you know from from talking to some some people that are at least more on the inside than I am. It seems that that's kind of the direction it's looking like it like chase on chase on terrible. I know that they also. I'm pretty sure they enjoy digs as well. I hear the Johnson quite a bit too. I wondering about that. Because of the shoulder of her that he might drop a little bit But yeah I think right now. It's kind of Henderson. Chase on an corral as their their top three targets. I'd put mckinney in there as well just from not because I've heard anything but just because I think they've been linked to him a lot by a lot of national guys. Who do a lot of their work comes from what they hear which can be a positive and negative. Because everybody's not telling the truth but I definitely think that your top foreign four names or Henderson Chase on You know terrible in mckinney. You're probably right there with with maybe some Christian Fulton's and Kenneth Murray's right on the outside edge but so for a what we think's going to happen you feel pretty good about. Aj terrel. Yeah I do unfortunately I say it's fifty fifty between the two but if you if you're feeling a little bit more terrible than than mckinney. Then we'll go with that because I'm probably split on who I think it would be at that spot. Yeah and like I said already like I. I hope that it's wrong but I doubt the pig Josh Jones goes right behind him. Von Kin law goes number. Nineteen to the Oakland Raiders mckinney. Just goes off the board to the Jaguars. We had a big run. On some of our guys let's recap. The philosophy picks real quick. So we had mckinney go at twenty. Justin Jefferson go to the Eagles at twenty one. Jeff Glad Nego at twenty two Jordan love goes to the Patriots at twenty three Christian Fulton to the saints at Twenty Four Denzel Mems to the Vikings at twenty five grant delpit to the dolphins at twenty six. He threw gross mottos to the Seahawks at twenty seven. Patrick Queen goes to the Ravens at twenty eight as a Wilson to the titans at twenty nine Jalen Reagan to the packers at Thirtieth Jalen Johnson. Thirty one to the forty niners de'andre swift to the chiefs. It thirty two all right. Let's start the second round. Still at Kenneth Murray Brandon Euch. Aj Up in NASA. As Cleveland. John Taylor. She's a Rou. Is Lloyd cushenberry? Austin Jackson Antoine Winfield Deville Gallimore Noah. Ebony I were forty four forty four. The colts are on the clock. Any interest in moving up. Zac Bond still available. Josh still available. Julian a quarrel is still available. Justin Mader bouquets still available. Ross blacklock is still available. Marlon Davidson is still available. Jeremy Chin is still available and our receivers who were still available Arcadia Hammer. Michael Pittman Junior Would be the only two guys that I would really consider there and I think that I would probably think the team would also agree. I don't see anyone Any interest in getting on the colts in trying to move up to forty four. No because I think that there might be seven names that I'm okay with their fifty one. I agree all right. Jalen hurts goes forty. Four Zach bongos forty-five gross trip on digs to the falcons cage a hammer to the jets Marlon Davidson to the steelers Jeremy Chin to the bears. All right we have left it receiver Michael Pitney which I would absolutely love. Ross blacklock Justin Justin Madame Bouquet. So we have some very interesting defense. Lineman terrel Lewis. Josh OCE Curtis Weaver. Juliana quarrel are defensive. Ends Edge RUSHERS SAFETIES. We HAVE KYLE. Duggar Ashton Davis. Tyrrell Burgess corners. Damon are net cameron. Dancer Bryce Hall. And that's probably the only position let's see. Are we up or is it our? Pick your While I mean where do you think that they would go? I mean just out those groups and names you think it would matter. I think so I I have blacklock literally their tags. Touching black locks just ahead of matter bouquet cowry. They've been pretty. They've been pretty seems like they've been pretty interested in UK My opinion like that's that Medicare blacklock would be the pig but for four them. I know I'm window-dressing. My board a little bit here but I would love Michael Pittman here to I don't know how linked they have been to Michael Pittman so I don't WanNa pick a player that I don't know that they've shown any interest in it. Also that's not what we're GONNA do here Rookie with the linebackers or Jordan Brooks and Willie Gay Junior Akeem Davis gaither three. As that I like but I don't know that that is what they're looking to do here. So you feel pretty good about Madam here. Yeah Yeah I mean. I think that that's a fine pick at fifty one. I mean there's a ton of upside there and I think that he's already day one better than who you pick to fifty eight last year and I don't think it's all that close. Nope so and they've been tied to him if they they seem to really like him They've interviewed them. Facetime interviewed him And they were supposed to have him for a official visit before got cancelled. So I think that that's a pretty pretty safe realistic. Pick your fifty one. You would agree. Yeah all right turn it in the card boom Tara Lewis goes right behind US Jordan Brooks Joshua Shea Jona Jackson Jay Dobbins Damon Arnett. Frequent Davis met Hinchey. Ross blacklock Curtis Weaver Coal Commit Camera Dancer. Third Round has began any interest in doing anything moving up to the beginning of the third round. A problem I feel like we're at this point. We got a corner. And we've got a defense alignment. I think the only thing you might consider as Jillian Cora who were the who were the address are still available. Juliana Kwara Jonathan. Renard Daryl Taylor would be the top. Three is That I would look into. You're looking at like Jabari's Nego nohilly Kareem Bradley. And I Alex Highsmith Which is like I like highsmith quite a bit. I like an eye but that's still a little too early for me a Again I like a Cora. He's this is the round that I would start considering him and I know you got him a little bit higher than I do. A lot higher right. Actually I mean that's an option your safeties Kyle. Duggar still available. Ashton Davis is still. Available Tyrrell Burgess still available Honestly I think might just be okay with with outing and man. Yeah Yeah I agree. I agree. I mean. We'll see if we have any joint quarrel just goes to the jets. Kyle daughter goes to the panthers. A C Ashton Davis to the colts. Robert Hunt goes to the jets. Bryce Hall to the Raiders. Adam Trautmann to the raiders. So tyrrell Burgess is a name that I really like here But real quick. Let's take a look at the receivers receiver still available. La Viscous should not junior holy. God who do you like him? I mean as an overall weapon -absolutely as a traditional wide receiver. Not so much but I think they can have a lot of fun with him and I think that he's worth the pick Comey also available all right. Receiver wisely viscous junior Donovan. People Jones Brian Edwards van. Jefferson are edge. Rushers Daryl Taylor. Jabbar is an EGO Khalid Kareem Saint. Pretty much the same group minus John grinalds and Juliana Kwara linebackers. Akeem Davis gaither Troy. Die Logan Wilson Slick at cornerbacks they could double dip. Darnay homes Choi Junior a Mick Robertson Michael Judea and then safety tyrrell Burgess Cave on Wallace. I really liked. Tyrrell Burgess here. I think they they would like that pick to. I like him too. I just look at some of those at rushers again. Daryl Taylor I think is going to go in the second round He's somebody who played through injury all year. This year and tape was was still pretty good. I like honestly he actually. He actually grew up in the same town that I did so. It's nice now not many not many. Nfl players coming out of hope. We'll Virginia but yeah I don't I don't know if there's any connection with them But I think that it sounded like from that little clip that we got. It sounded like they were talking about. Tyrrell Burgess that one time and it sounded like they liked him. If it was him Brian Back. I think a lot of people kind of assume that same thing so what they keep talking about their defense which I know. They're talking about more from a front forefront seven perspective but like the multiple defense you know not being basic like throw burgess for makes a lot of sense for a versatile like different defense guy. You can move around blitz playing the nickel play deep play in the box like he can do so many different things for your defense. Yeah and I mean I. I think that he's fantastic. And I don't think that They would be upset with that. Pick at all. I think that go for it. I think you should go for it here. and then are you at U. OF M. at safety or Corner. I think he could play. Both doesn't really matter to me. The great amount for one or the rain. I graded amount as a safety but like I don't think that he would have any issue stepping into the slot and plan a ton of slot reps thinking better exotic woods. It's GonNa be a more consistent tackler..

"There's a little bit of that stigma right with guys that have a background track and then guys that can't compete through the process like you go. Oh alarm goes off a little bit like oh no. It's it's going to be one of these deals where we've always got to have have this guy in the shop You know is he going to be able to to go? So that would be the risk with him never gala more from Oklahoma. A Guy that we've talked to before tested like a freak As a defensive tackle you know came from Canada? Still Ross still developing the game. The raw tools are there. I don't think he's a great football player at this point in time. But there's a lot that he could become so there's a little bit of variance there in terms of what he could become. Daryl Taylor the edge rusher from Tennessee. Good somebody. That was hurt this year but when you go back and watch them in two thousand eighteen he was outstanding Didn't get a chance to see him. Compete at the senior board. The combine obviously no Pro Day. So a little bit. You're buying blind a little bit on him. But upside is a pass rusher Siddiq Charles the left tackle for Lsu. Who's another athletic freak? You know suspended six games this past year for some positive drug tests But that landscape has changed with the new. Cba So maybe that isn't as big of a risk as maybe it would have been otherwise but you've got tremendous tools to work with him. And then the last one I wrote down was K. J. Handler Cage as not the biggest guy in the world. Unfortunately he wasn't able to compete to combine a little bit of a strain but man the the speed is is big time. When you watch the tape he can take the top off the defense. But just you know you gotta undersized player who's got a little bit nicked up who has some drops as well so that's kind of the downside with him but man. He is a home run hitter. So those are kind of five guys. I think that have a very high ceiling and a very low floor is interesting because of the names that you mentioned guy that stands out to me Obviously Never Gal Gallo Moore who we talked to the senior bowl. Basketball background is impressive. The movement skills are impressive. Own tape When I watched tape I wrote on my notes He's got a plugger with pass rush ability meaning right now. He's so raw. Plays well against a run and you think he can give you a little more as a pass rusher because you see the athleticism. But you don't see him. Put It together consistently with K J Hamlet K. J. is just under size and I think the the scary part in having high host with a small guy is is he going to be able to hold up. And what role can we put them in not only to maximize what he can do on the field but also to get everything out of that we possibly can get because he does have returned skills? He does have stretch ability. He has been able to take bubble screens and short passes to the House. You just wonder what this is. And then Daryl Taylor to me is a classic flasher he pops when you turn on the tape you see him make plays and so. I really like your list there. Two guys that would have been on my list but we wanted to keep this outside of the top fifty and so the two guys that I would normally would be T- higgins and Kayla von Chason because I think they're interesting evaluations you see the athleticism and the talent but you just come to wonder. Are they going to be able to play to the potential? That you see we higgins. He plays like a jumbled specialist on tape but then when you look at the numbers from two pro day and the speed on tape in the way he kinda turns down some bumper run opportunities in big games. You just kind of wonder and Kayla von Chason to me you see the great athleticism. You don't see the production the match those two guys but on my list Donovan. People's Jones Donovan. People's Jones is a risk reward player because the athleticism and the explosiveness is there. You don't necessarily see the production and you can make the argument that he not have been the number one receiver at Michigan. But then you dig deeper and you find that. He had a high ankle sprain. They're kinda plagued him into the regular season. You don't know if he was really healthy. So you don't really know which version you get at the next level We've talked about this guy. We poke fun at his body type but Curtis Weaver Curtis. Weaver IS A risk reward type. Because he's a Premier. Pash rusher but the packaging is not right. He doesn't look like one when you watch him on the turf. This is a mountain west. All time sack leader but from a physical standpoint. He doesn't wow you. He doesn't overwhelm me. He just finds a way to consistently get to the quarterback. It'd be interesting to see how his game plays out. We had this discussion. I WANNA say yesterday. We talked about as air. Wilson from Georgia Big Man natural tools really really raw. How much are you willing to Kinda Bank on his upside dot versus? What you've seen on tape. I think that's what evaluators have to deal with at quarterback Jacob Jacob easson in the eighties would be a first round pick all day but the game has evolved. And so how much are you willing to put into a player? That is more like a statue in the pocket big arm but doesn't move candidates. Deal play in winning this game when you have to build a team around him and then the final guy is the guard from Fresno State. The Tom Moody. He is interesting. Because when you see him play in spurts man. He flashes dominant ability. But then you go through the medical stuff and there's just this laundry list of injuries daddy's had to overcome and so I mean you you just have to is GonNa pass a physical but the talent on the field is enough to intrigue you. You just don't know physically if his body's GONNA hold up. Ya and that's going to be a challenge when you've missed most of two seasons And it's a Liz Franken. An Achilles like those are not minor injuries so That's going to be a challenge for him in terms of where he goes. But I do like your list. Buck t higgins is one that it's very interesting to me You know some teams think. He's a top three receiver top four receiver in this draft. Like they have them way up there. Other teams are are way down on him. So I think when you're talking about risk reward. It makes sense that some teams would be very high on some of these players and other teams very low on these players because it's kind of beauty in the eye of the beholder situation you know it's funny so DJ. So I did this. Exercise with T higgins When I looked at his pro day numbers and I just decided to pull up de'andre Hopkins numbers. I'm not saying they're the same player. But both scored twenty seven touchdowns. Clemson both ran mid four five at their pro day. The difference in De'andre Hopkins Anti Higgins Deandra Hopkins had a thirty six thirty. Seven inch vertical t higgins at thirty one. You don't see it but the common denominator. Both were big time basketball players in high school. I mean T- Higgins was a finalist for Mr Basketball and Tennessee as a junior and so if you willing to gamble on the come on what he could be there. Maybe you take a chance on them. But there's a lot of stuff on tape where you're like man. I just don't know if he's worthy of being in that category like a tier one player when you see the jury duties in the CD. Lambs and the Henry Rugs. Sometimes it's hard to put him in that conversation. I think I think he's GonNa probably end up going in the mid to late twenties to early thirties. Nfo's guessing you're probably talking where Minnesota has their two first rounders to the top five or six picks in the second round. I think's when you'll see t higgins come off the board but the upside. Yeah the upside is absolutely their buck. All right let's get to go ahead. Go say struggled having coming up with a pro comparison in terms of like who could be at the next level. I put down Allen Robinson. Oh that's a good one. That's going to go ellen. Robson might have been a little more physical. But that's a good. That's a good comparison. 'cause I couldn't always having to dig into membrane man. Who DOES HE COMPARE TO? That's what I kind of struggle that one too. But that's when I looked at the numbers testing numbers all that stuff. It kind of came out and I thought Robinson what he did play above the rim. You see some of that. Same stuff with t higgins. I'm with you getting robbed a little more physical but I thought that was. That was good as I come up with right there now going because there are questions like let's get. Let's get to this conversation with Herbie here. I had a chance to visit with Kirk herbstreet and and talk with him about a lot of different things and some of it. We've saved for a for our three sixty episode onto a tug of Lois so be on the lookout for that next week. Reminder we have the Joe Borough episode that's That's out this week. We already have released Justin Herbert episodes so But it was great to catch up with Herbie. And here's our conversation occur? Appreciate Your Time Today Man I guess first question from me would be have you. I've been holding up houses family holding up as as we're going through this unprecedented time right now. Dj for for US probably like you and a lot of people which twenty four. You're you're adjusting. It seems like by the day I think I it was more about. I've I have burnt similar ages. The you have I have to. They're in college over Clemson. We have have him with us. We're on spring break in and so we at least had them while. Everything was moving very fast on schedules and Davos case in Clinton's case they're sending out emails and right away. It became pretty clear. I think the ACC one of the first conferences to just right away. They not only cancel the basketball tournament. They shut down everything on campus. And so we were. We were lucky to have him with US. And we just we just bunker down really and that's what we've been doing now for for a couple of weeks trying to follow the guidelines listening to what the Doctor. Foudy and the others are saying recommending and and just hope for the best for everybody and trying to stay in touch with with friends and family like you and I are talking right now I mean. It's it's a strange time for all of us. Unprecedented Times I don't think anyone ever thought we would be in a situation like this and how you doing We don't our good man in some ways. it's been nice to just have the kids around and I'm sure you had the same thing when the boys were there with with just schedules and practice here and going there and drop off and pick up so it does allow you some some family time. So it's kind of like a a little Ray of light in a very dark time but We're doing good man. I I'm curious. What is the Dabble in in the strength staff? They're like have. They sent the kids like a universal workout. These guys it's almost like ninety x like what are these kids going to be able to stay in shape. That's a great point because we're very very fortunate here at our house. We we have my wife and I. Have you know a a gym that we use? If we don't go to a gym kind of thing so we we don't have a ton of things but we have some stuff and so The boys are able to follow along on on an APP. Able to work out but there are a lot of guys Clemson all over the country. That are all with their families. Don't have the means to to have any kind of Weights of any kind. And so I think linked Clemson's case. They sent out bands different bands that they can use for different weight. Exercise Bodyweight exercises. They can do and I think about not only some of these college athletes around the country trying to get a workout. But as we're seeing people losing their jobs you know this is scary for a lot of people in in just to look at it. The small frame of of our world of football in college football lot of these kids are home and away from being underneath the umbrella of a system that gives wheels gives them training. Table gives them study table and in some cases they go home. And you just. You wonder how they're doing because they sometimes don't have the means to be able to provide to have meals to eat let alone right now to be able to work out. So it's it's just a just times. I think that none of us in this country thought we'd ever see and we're all trying to pull together provide as much as we can..

"But that was one of the one of the bigger games of the week in conference USA. Who else? Do we have here that that I had other notes Colgate gave up a touchdown, by the way, which what the hell raiders UCF holds onto beat a navy team that makes it a game later on in the in the fourth quarter. I had some other notes here ties swear, I did Memphis holds on puts almost fifty on Tulsa, who's not good, by the way tie SMU is five and five four and two in the American. It's forget that. It's Yukon SMU was better than they should be at this point another team that I think I can safely say that four Cincinnati Cincinnati is full on good. Houston valiant effort. Dear king tries to do everything. And almost does. But they lose to the temple owls who by the way. Offensive juggernaut out of nowhere. Those the American is quite fun right now. So I enjoy that very much and by the way, the Cincinnati reference was the fact that they're nine and one and beat south Florida by double digits. I don't know. Gosh tie. Don't want to leave anything out though. The collision course is still very much set between you and buffalo. Yup. Buffalo winds Tuesday nights, very comfortably against Kent state. And I you wins comfortably against the Toledo team kind of a gap year for the rockets right now. I don't think there was too much of a surprise. By the way, I said Choi in Georgia Southern conference USA, probably three people notice that totally wrong about their conferences. That's that's a sunbelt mass. It is a sunbelt matchup. I'm a dumb person sometimes app state keeps it rolling with a comfortable win. Lafayette, actually made a dent in army for a little bit for a little bit. I it was just a little bit. But that's that's good enough. North North Texas who had started the year out really well as come back to earth a little bit. They lose to ODU. Nice win for Florida Atlantic because they won a game. It was western Kentucky. That's your boy. Mike Sanford, having a tough tough year. What the hell toppers? They follow an six in conference very quietly once again, and it shouldn't be quite UAB now undefeated in conference USA nine and one overall. They get by southern miss who's not terrible and Spencer Brown another nice game for the blazers so cool to see from conference USA now two years removed from not existing tie from not existing. That's every have. Yeah. I quote to you from an Email we received early this morning from Nick of the salt verbal research department. Yes. "But they've been playing hard each and every game. It seems like there is real growth. They're moving forward. Jerry Goren tunnels been pretty good the last couple of weeks now. Yeah. And you know, defensively they've got studs. Like Daryl Taylor who had four sacks in this game against Kentucky. So all do credit to what Pruitt is doing in year one in Knoxville. And then on the flip side just quickly word about Kentucky does feel like they're wearing down a little bit here. Yes defense was not quite as sharp in this one. Benny Snell held mostly in check that we had like eighty something yards on the ground twenty four to seven and nice win for Tennessee over Kentucky team. It's been pretty good this season. It feels like it might be the bottom falling out a little bit. After the Georgia game. Everything was so hyped for Kentucky going into that George game. And what what could they do compete out of the SEC east and just it's tough. It's tough to to get into November and keep that high level of play when you aren't necessarily the deepest or most talented team, especially on offense, Florida, thirty five South Carolina, thirty one South Carolina was up seventeen points late in the third quarter seemingly destined to hold up that legendary must champ bowl trophy, Dan. They had it was within reach. But then Philippe pay Franks head other plans. He had other is Dan he threw for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter to get a little bit closer we dove across the goal line with four minutes left in the game to give Florida the lead and the win a heartbreaker here for the Gamecocks. They've now played in five straight games decided by four points. Or less over that stretch. They've gone three and two. But what can you say about Florida here to come from behind the way that they did Philippe bay Franks emotional kid playing his heart out out there? He did a good job. When it counted. I thought Florida continued to show growth on offense, especially on the ground with Jordan's Marlet. It'll Michael p Rhine they both go over one hundred they add to three hundred sixty seven team yards on the ground for the Gators Florida's now in a spot where they're seven and three they close out with Idaho. And Florida state both of which should translate to wins a nine and three season going to presumably a pretty good ball game is a hell of a first act for Dan Mullen. Yeah, their schedule is pretty ideal for first year coach chart trying to alter some some previous offensive woes. Thoughtfully by Franks was good both through the air and on the ground that throat a Cadarache Tony throw and catch were great. I appreciate the patience from Florida. You mentioned scarlet P Ryan growing. But it was the patients to trust them as they were succeeding with the offensive line on the ground to come back in this game to whether some some pretty porous defence early on. And to win this game, by the way, South Carolina their past. I don't even know how many games so since the Missouri game in the I think that was like gross weather, South Carolina wins that by two loses to am by three beats Tennessee by three beats ole miss by four loses to Florida by four. Yeah. So if you're looking for random entertainment, find will must champ and South Carolina because they are a wire team right now. Sometimes they're on sometimes they're off moving on LSU twenty four Arkansas seventeen. I don't think the final score here is indicative of this game. Even though Arkansas did come back. They tried to come back. Yeah. At the very end with two touchdown passes from ties story LSU was actually up twenty four to three in the. Quarter before that charge. Also, a really tough beat here. If you had LSU minus thirteen I don't know if you saw this at the end of the game. Yeah, they they took Nick process took two knees. He took essentially to knees yelling intentionally short of the goal line with LSU up seven to keep that clock running. And only win by seven which didn't cover that point spread even though..

"Eight forty WATS. Back in Knoxville joined now by Jeff with a look at the numbers. Jeff Kentucky, of course, would love to run Seventy-three plays a game as it did today. But only gained two hundred sixty two yards while giving up four twelve sixty plays by the balls with this you atop pointed at several times big plays, especially at I doubt. That was a huge part of this story is a huge part of the game. And and really one of the worst quarters Kentucky's ever played was that second quarter where they had fifteen offensive plays a major one yard and in two minutes and five seconds Tennessee, scored two touchdowns fourteen points, including as a as the scoreboard turned two zero zero zero catching the touchdown pass. It I thought that was really the dagger going in because. Deflate you. Now, you know, you're down three scores. Now when you go in there, and they are getting the ball to start the second half. And that just that just really hurts. The first half. Thirty three plays for sixty eight yards twenty Russia's for twenty six yards killer. Mr. field goal in the second half, you end up broadening thirty five Russia's for just seventy seven yards, and they gassed you time. And again a team. That's not real good running the football. You ended up with seventy three places you said, but just for two hundred sixty yards the big number three in this one. It's amazing to me, Tennessee. They're just four of twelve on third down. But it was the big play I downplay. Yeah, I play Chandler long long run twenty nine yards. Jordan long run twenty two yards. Murphy long run fifty nine yards catching the ball Calloway. Fifty six yard touchdown pass. Forty one yards for Jordan thirty eight yards for me. So the big play time and time and time again, really hurt the cats which has not happened. Oh, you're not even against Georgia. In South Carolina. Daryl Taylor himself. Four sacks four tackles for loss. Kentucky gives up five sacks on Gary Wilson a couple of them. He got hit really hard. I thought is the he's he's hurt. The he kept getting back up to his credit finishes twenty of thirty four for one hundred seventy two yards and once again Benny under a hundred yards twenty carries for just eighty one yard. So a four point one average and they've got to figure out what what's going on with this offense. Get things moving. I I did think what are the interesting things was still good for four yards per carry. But he found it wasn't easy. But he was more of a targeted a passion. Yeah. Well, and I think that was something that Kentucky saw in them that hey, we can go down the field with him. He catches six balls. So they were just a little swing passes good for four five yards. But that's as good as a run in. And that's exactly what they wanna do. And they ran the screen. They rent land and effective today. They did. And again, I still think in Gunnar had this problem when he was in there to quarterback you've got to throw before the receivers are get out of their breaks. They're waiting for these receivers to break, then they throw the ball. It's too late. You've got to trust them a little bit missed on the long pass a couple of times, it's still not part of this offense. And again, I just it was just not a good game on either side of the football for the state, and you and I have covered a lot of games down here. And there were bigger barges. And there were better Tennessee team to beat worse Kentucky teams, but given the frame around this. Game. I think this was the worst, you know, and you hate to look for ways to quantify.

"Understandably Tennessee's playing a little differently defensively than they were earlier. But Terry Wilson clearly thrives in this as he mentioned after the Missouri game. So they may have to look at your trying to win the time of possession battle and in control the the ball running it, but that hadn't been Kentucky's game of late. They haven't been good at that for a while now, and they maybe they'll start to look at more of this. Like this year Watson Watkins's coming back in. You know, he's he's gotten back in that adds depth of that offensive line. Now that he's close back to one hundred percent I landed young would have been the starting left tackle. But was injured in preseason. He and Josh Pasco both make the trip. Privacy, not playing first and ten Kentucky, the thirty one of Tennessee to wideouts each way. Terry wilson. Dawson sets has all kinds of time deplete as he fired it off to the left side through the hands of skipped off the hands of apps, but he was well covered down twenty-seven would have been a short. Second down and ten tacky. Does not getting any separation from their receivers at the defensive backs had plenty of time. They're looked up three different receivers. None of them open. This is an excellent Kentucky secondary. These Tennessee receivers have been able to get. Oh. Do why doubts each way? For the Wildcats on Radin Wagner, two big guys. Why did this nearside which is into the boundaries? Wilson said he is thrilled. Thank you fumbled. And the ball came out it did turnover. He'd never saw coming. And he is hurt is he gets up taking a Daryl Taylor again to third one of the day coming off the right side. He's able to get around Wilson was looking left and never saw it coming sable to get around the tackle on that side catches up around the chest and shoulder area. He thinks Watkins. Just came in for the Georgia Sappho Jay that's tough top EG land right on your shoulder there as a quarterback so with nine thirty three to play Tennessee takes over at its own thirty six leading Kentucky twenty four to seven. This. The UK sports network Kentucky has the highest rate of cancer in the United States..

Pre game shows the getting more comfortable in the pocket and remember talking to Darin Hinshaw back in the suburb. He said that was the thing with Terry that he had to learn to approve upon was the way coach I describe it was throwing in a phone booth. When you don't have a lot of room to move, and I'll Terry has gotten better at that. As the season has worn on among other things Flynn. At the goal line to await the kick. It'll come from freshman. Paxton Brooks who only has eighteen touchback from forty three kickoff. So from like last week. When Kentucky was facing. The Georgia kicker who regularly put them into the crowd. Both may get a chance to return some this week. Although hopefully, not too many. Yeah. Can return this wedding. Get get out there. With a nice return outside the thirty yard line to get started. A blue in the house empty seats as well. The kick with the wind is gonna come up short at the goal line. Bowdoin fields it at the five has the right side of hash marks. The fifteen breaks a tackle at the twenty to get outside carrying a tackler up to the twenty four yard line. Couldn't quite break away and get to the outside and to the sidelines. Lucky will start at its own twenty four yard line, Shannon. Read a linebacker down to make the tackle the wildcat strike Jackson. Start at center on. She stallings said George Asaf O J to his right, Logan, Stenberg and EJ price to his left. Turkey will open with Conrad lining up as the tight end on the right side of the formation boatman EPSCO wide that way Richardson back wide to the near side. Wilson was Snell behind him into the right, Ben. He gets the call up the middle. And he carries a tackler for nice gain out across the thirty to the thirty one yard line at seven on first down Taylor making the stop. It'll be second down in three or Kentucky a started a nickle package. So that means four Dan live at two linebackers. If they stay in that you got a running total on the those Alex Johnson, Alexis Johnson Phillips are the ends. But Jack outside linebacker slash end day. Andre Johnson Daryl Taylor during Kirkland of the outside backers Dana the Tuli is the middle linebacker Saint formation for Kentucky, the backfield smell gets the call trying to pick his way, and he's got the first down out to the thirty five yard line. He picks up four on a second and three run. And it's a first down four Kentucky. Phillips on the tackle. Mike Abernathy is vista. Last four games with an injury in there at strong safety today for Tennessee alongside Nigel warrior, Belan Buchanan. Is one of the secondary players is actually the Nickelback to freshman Allante Taylor. Thompson. Are the quarters trips to the right Wilson looking to throw up first down retreat throws the screen. We've got Snell nearside and he carries it out to the forty yard line. But a flag comes in. Tuttle chased him down from the nose for Tennessee. It's going to be on. Some of the blocking Kentucky was doing rush got through by design on the screen. The big play Kentucky hit out at Missouri. A couple of weeks ago that screened Benny. Hats and affairs. The ball was caught behind the line. Duckie blocking down the field so nicely done. We were just talking about that in a car top at Boeing's gangrene passed down your part, the rush that they have. So if the five yard game for Kentucky and brings up second in five for the Wildcats. Teams ranked thirteenth and fourteenth respectively, Kentucky and Tennessee in scoring in the SEC. So that's why they expect this would be a low scoring game seconded Kentucky its own forty. Keep her. No handoff. Snell running right. That's outside at the forty five trying to get to the first down. And I think he's gonna be just short as Abernathy came down from the safety position to make the hit on it probably about a half yard short of the first down. Boy, if he just goes out and take set to the outside as soon as he grabs the ball a lot more rural. But he likes Khattak lowers and shoulder techy. Lining up ready to go tiny Conrad lined up behind the right guard. Three receivers company Kentucky's left Snell to the left or Terry Wilson third less than a yard snail gets the call tripped up in the backfield trying to push the pilot. Can't do it benefits got penetration. It's tripped up any kept his balance, but he was essentially falling down. If he got to the line of scrimmage any could not get the leverage to push the pile Kentucky. Gets no gain in the wife and once again third shorts. Instead, Missouri game has been a problem for Kentucky. Yeah, they sneak up the safety on that weak side because Kentucky drips on the near side. They.
