Biggest loss in 90 years for Man U in 7-0 rout at Liverpool

"Liverpool's resurgence has continued with a 7 zero humiliation of Manchester United. Cody gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, each scored twice for the reds, who tallied 6 times in the second half. Roberto Firmino capped the scoring as Liverpool ran its unbeaten streak to 5 games since the hideous three zero loss to wolves. The reds have gone from tenth to 5th place during the streak and are just three points behind fourth place Tottenham with the game in hand. It was United's worst loss in more than 90 years. I'm from Pittsburgh. Home of the World Cup champion, Megan klingenberg. I always hope to start with that. We share a name. I mean, I love it. I love it. I love, by the way, I love that you do that. That's just an incredible and it always has to be in that way. And never change. Tell us where you are and what your question is. Okay, so to start, I want to say big ups to say as public, he got kicked in the forehead this weekend and he's doing okay. So, yeah. I wanted to ask a fun question. So, you know, based on the goals and the footwork that we saw today, who do you think would be a better dancer? Vinny or Darwin Nunez? That is a question coming from an incredible place. And the answer is obviously James tarkowski, but what is your take on it? For me, I don't know. I think it's got to be Vinny, but because he dances after his goals anyway, but I don't know now I could definitely be convinced that Darwin is a better dancer.

Liverpool beats 10-man Newcastle to boost EPL top-4 hopes

"Liverpool scored a couple of early goals, took advantage of a red card to goalkeeper Nick Pope and ended Newcastle 17 game unbeaten streak to nothing. The scoring came courtesy of Darwin Nunez in the tenth minute and Cody gakpo in the 17th, four minutes later, Pope was red Carter for a handball outside the box as he tried to head the ball away from a wide open mouth salad. Liverpool has back to back victory since a four game winless skid. Moving the reds into a tie for 7th and within 6 points of fourth place Newcastle. I'm Dave ferry.

"Have been competing with. Now, on any given day, you write down that man city front three or four done and it's a guessing game, isn't it? Yeah. And I think in some sense that's what Klopp once again, it wants to make sure there's no money anymore that is keeping the rest of them on the torch. If you're not playing well, doesn't matter if you're more sala, Roberto Firmino have seen him a lot of game time over the last 12 months because if we form if Darwin Nunez coming in now whose lively has been a we problem in front of goal and then the Aztec come back who's been terrific. If you throw gakpo in that with one or two young lads, you're sent to everybody. Listen, you're playing well, you hold your hand up and I'll pick you in my front three. And that is just giving them options. So the answer is that's going to be a difficult frontline to get into. But that's what his biggest rivals have in Manchester and that's what he needs to have if they're going to get back to challenging again. And does gecko have the quality to compete with those sort of players in your opinion Mario? Yeah, of course. And just with Greg said, look, we have never been I'm sure, correct, never been to a club where you had competition with you and you said, I'm not going. If your mindset there, and I'm going, I'm going to compete with you. So copper making that decision. He knows what he's putting himself into because the talent is clearly there. You know, the only thing is that while Liverpool pressed on because like you already mentioned, what gotta he's probably into what February they are still march. This is too long for a team. So for me, I feel like, yeah, he's going to compete with them. He should be ready to compete with them because being a PSV at a similar kind of fight going on to get himself to where he is right now and playing for Holland, cool, and no national team gives you the glory by freedom. You have to fight for it. As I mentioned, one more game left in the Premier League. And to be honest, we weren't going to talk about it. You went for a big and we just went for it. We're also predictions before everyone's going for a big win for city. But then Jan froze a spanner in the works, and now we have to talk about the game because Jan thinks it's going to be two, two, which means I don't have to ask you and why? I will ask about it because if we get a lead Steve out there, this passionate leads team is just a march team. They can go for it. I don't think this game is so open as we do think. Imagine I'm allowed to say Allen Holland again or is that still forbidden? In a moment, Jan. Okay, okay, so Alec Holland is going back to the place where he's more is born. I'm with his dad at the game tomorrow. It's going to be very emotional game. There's going to be a very interesting game, and that's final tip. Who had that, who had 5 mil who said, that was me. Okay. I'll tell you what. I think this would be a first two tomorrow, and I'll be emotional because you're going to glow about it. I know. So you mentioned Erling Haaland, yam, explain this haircut. "Chelsea will find curling effort in the first half tipped over by saw. And he might get another chance now through the sick. I was in the first half. Who do you think is a second? Next question. Raj. Emo, New York. Hi, club. Liverpool. Why? Are we so hard on new starts in the EPL? Darwin is going to be survival of the fittest in Darwin, I hope. And I wonder if you can ask why people doubt this guy's talent. He's going to make good and we're going to see that he's not just a player that receives he also creates, do you think that's right? TiVo. We are hard on newly arrived Premier League Friends. We are. We are particularly ones with huge price tags and particularly ones who are meant to score, you know, the goals because as fans, we dream of glory, glory comes from goals, and also this money is now so insane in football and it puts so much pressure on any new arrival. "Can change that go in there? Not enough a lot and I think Stevie had Neil and he had you know exactly what you're getting out of a national team who responded so fantastically well to losing against Manchester United. I will differ with Stevie and that you kind of know exactly what you're getting from Liverpool, especially defensively. It's not that we don't know. We know and it's not good and that's the unfortunate thing. I made the point in the Liverpool job with Brighton and then the third goal. Liverpool dropped off to 5 yards above their own half line before they started pressing, which I don't think we've seen Liverpool do since Jürgen Klopp has been in charge. Liverpool have always pressed very high up the power, put everybody under pressure, won the ball back oftentimes in their own attacking food. And I think that's where they're from the successes. No, while you can tinker with your formations against rangers and not pay too heavy of a price, I just wonder if that's with a view to having that extra attack. Having that extra body in pressing higher up the park. That's the only way it makes sense because you can with the greatest of respect to Glasgow rangers. I think this is just a step too far for them. Liverpool could afford to put almost anybody out there and get a result. But I would like to see them go back to what they did so well. Press high up the park. A lot has been made of the exit of Sadio Mané, but if you're pressing high up the park, all you need is you need that spark, you need the personnel. I'm hoping that that's a sign of what's to come. Well, let's talk about one of their attacking players. Darwin Nunez, it's fair to say, has had an up and down season so far recently he spoke out about how things have been going. He said the truth is that, honestly, in the team talks that he gives, he's speaking about Jürgen Klopp. I don't understand anything. I ask my teammates afterwards to find out what he said, Louise, did you speak English when you joined Liverpool?

"And Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah had chances, big chances noon is a two really good chances. And they didn't score. Would they have like 17 shots in the first half? Yeah. I mean, the XG was pretty much in their favor. And palace pounced on their one opportunity. Not Philips who I didn't think Joe Gorman should have started, but that Phillips gets caught out and Virgil van DIJK for some reason doesn't read the danger that if Zaha goes past him, he's in brilliant finish from Zaha and then I thought the red after the red carrier thought Liverpool were excellent. The Diaz goal was just superb. I never pull fought so hard that I actually do agree with clot that it was a good point. It was a good point in the end. Don't forget Zaha hit the outside of the post on a breakaway, but Liverpool went for the game with ten men, which I think is a good sign of any team. But to be to give to drop that many points, four points already, I guess a team like Manchester City and the bigger tighter race is not good. And you know which way it's going, even if the report will pick it up and start winning games. There's no sign that city won't, I mean, they're destruction of born that should send shivers down your spine. Even with, I mean, Holland was an irrelevance. I know he got an assist in that game, but he only had 8 touches for the game. And they still blow them over the water. Did Brian's gore was. Sensationally. But going back to Darwin Nunez, again, just stupidity of it. He could have been sent off before that. Now Anderson is jostling with him as every center back does with every tall center forward. This was all game. There's a great compilation. I've seen it. Yeah, but right before Andrew, Nunez is trying to throw his head into him. I'm sorry. He just is. And Anderson, where the boy breaks down, comes out and gives him the waggy finger and pushing him like, what the F are you doing, pile? And he turns on and headbutts him. Making this up. You can call Anderson an S House. You can call them whatever you want, but the trying to make a villain out of them in this scenario when it was just naive stupidity from Darwin unions. It's one of the crazy things about that game is like, I don't expect united to win, but if they do, the way that the narrative could change, they will Liverpool by a point. I'm always nervous going into those games. Always. It doesn't matter, even last season when we put 9 past them over two games and they didn't score once, but the way I Liverpool are playing, they should still be confident going into that that they can put in the performance. Now, there's this midfield. Clap talked about a witch coming over the club. They were missing so many players. And they will have to figure, they'll have to tape together some kind of a striker Andrew for Monday's game. But look, two draws, not ideal, not ideal against that opposition, but I'm not losing my S over it. No, but it's not. Like we talked about Jack. We view them as the competitor. They are the contender. Maybe it's a responsible for us having a title race in this league. You see 37, 38 year old James Milner out there and you're like, God bless him. The relentlessness of the last few years he's born down to a knob. He's forgotten to shave. A couple of Premier League injuries of note, we were just talking about Diego Carlos. "Won the game and then all of a sudden Leipzig caught up, so therefore there's always 90 minutes to play, but still, to me, by many it's still the number one. And hopefully it's going to be more interesting to see. Stevie, since the community shield is just a glorified friendly, how's your spirit? Fantastic. Check out what words can we use so for example, we were sat quietly watching the game. Darwin Nunez comes on does well. And Steve, you start shouting at me in my face. And a more surprising turn of events. Let's just describe it as that. But he starts going. He's a threat. He's a threat. He's criminals. Wherever it is. And he goes, I don't care what you say. He's a threat. It was so funny. I was surprised. Surprised she worked. That is quite exciting. I know. I was so glad that she was going to let me grant you. I was so glad that you did well. You get the Thursday show. You spent the whole show and nobody cares. The result doesn't matter to anybody. It has no relevance. Well, because obviously it's 1980 a hundred community shields. That is true. Right. Listen, I want to community shield and you can go and ask anybody who's won it. And anybody who's played in it, and they're all tell you, it's a glow in a fight friendly. And it doesn't really matter that much. Okay. Today's game had a little different edge to it. Right. Is it because it's these two signs do you think? I think it's the two sides that have been put together by two to call them competitive would be the understatement of the year. Tap and claw are two guys who

"The opportunity to be more of a collective. So I think if united think about it properly, they will let him go because ten hack can then rebuild properly without the guide that's costing half a million pounds a week in wages. But is the guy that scored more goals than anybody else last season? So I think Ronaldo has left out in the lurch a little bit here. I think he's left it so late that as Craig said, did mister N Darwin Nunez if he ever had a chance of beating Liverpool some in the first place, which I doubt Robert lavender's hearts are in Barcelona. So if he doesn't go to Barcelona, ends up at United, I'd imagine that Barcelona would make sure that Frank had a young, does it go to man united. And they need a midfielder. So they've missed out on even players like richarlison, who's now gone from Everton to Tottenham who could have done a job for a year or two, a proven Premier League goal scorer. It's left unite in a really difficult position. The only good thing for another Lee is that it frees up a lot of money on the wage bill to bring somebody in. But all the deals have been done. Harlan's done. Nunez is done, which is done. You know, Gabriela jazz has gone so they're in a real bad situation and it's because Ronaldo has left it so late to tell the kid who wants to go. This should have been two months ago, but for whatever reason it hasn't been done. And maybe united bow the heads in the sun a little bit by not actually addressing it when they couldn't. Send how could have said right at the outset. I need to speak to Ronaldo as soon as I could talk it to the job in a major, I need to solve analysis situation that. We're in July, there's supposed to be a Bangkok on Friday on the first leg of the summer tour is Ronaldo going to be there. Was he not been addressed before that? So everybody's at fault here, but the ultimate problem is there's no solution because all the best deals have been done already. There's no short term solution, but this is the kind of opinion you might have to take for all the bad recruitment. I'm afraid. Because he's not the future, is he? He's just not the future. So all you're doing is putting some more band aids over until you can possibly get somebody else or do they say as Martin was saying, okay, we're going to have to live with us. We might have to adopt. We might have to bring some of the law and maybe we'll just say some of these short term. There's a little older or maybe we'll just go and try and Liverpool and set it up for a season also as play and just mix everybody around. I mean, it's leaving the manager short. There's no doubt about it at the moment if it was to happen. But looking at the bigger picture, getting them off the wages is way too old and united really have to have a longer term approach to this problem that they have. Well, the thing is another opportunity for ten act to get another player from AX because it seems to get players from there to create a new team because he has to, but he's going to be a problem, another problem and in fact the status and the image of Manchester United doesn't go well with that new announcement. I think it's not well. It's not good for the club because these are better results, but a better image also. Well, it's the status that they've been trying to get back for so many years and it seems to be a little bit difficult. Now, you mentioned the IX ten ag, we know they had a successful run with him, of course, in the Champions League. Here's what you want to say on Frankie the young.

"Of a top 6 class. World Cup World Cup winner. So now well done to buy and I think this is a really, really smart piece of business from them so well done. If I expected to confirm today garda, we will have semi-automatic landsmen at the World Cup. You know, those robots and I'm kidding, I'm kidding. What does this mean exactly? Can you explain to us? Well, they went out of their way to explain these are not robot lines. I would have loved to see those robots. No, basically they're going to use. They've got a whole bunch of cameras. They're going to have, I think it's 18 or 25 different body body parts that they can track and essentially they're going to be able to tell you within 20 seconds whether a player is offside or not. You're not going to have anybody drawing lines on the pitch or anything like that. Now, you're still going to have VAR who can still look at it and say, no, this is wrong, or this is right, or new soft to consider other things as an interfering with play. Is he coming back from an offside position? All these other stuff. But in terms of the location on the page, this is about as accurate as it's going to get you to get. And I know it is going to mean Muppets up there going to talk about frame speed and all this other nonsense and when does the ball leave his foot, but this is far more accurate and far quicker, more importantly than the current system. Average have reportedly set a 50 million pound price tag for re Charlie soon. Jules has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and spurs. Any of these make sense? It depends what he wants and what those club wants. I presume he wants a bigger club than the one he's like now. But maybe the champion Zeke, which we see on the bench, why would he do his first job? The first thing I don't get son and Kane in that way, does he fit and surely wants to be the number one if you leave the other turn? He's wants to be the number one summarized. He's not going to be the number one in person man. Neither. So you've spent 50 million on the sub. That's why it doesn't make much sense for me, either for those clubs or for him himself. You don't think you could fit into ra Madrid's front line, down the right hand side. I mean, maybe, but I'm not sure I'm not sure the jobs in Rodrigo or Marco sancio. Not sure playing him wide is a good idea. Certainly I don't think this is his best position. He can fill in for Ben zama when Benson might be better than Mariano. Again, so that's the second choice. So you would spend 50 million on the second choice and then for him he would have to settle with sitting on the bench for most of the time because if your current Benzema is number two well no, he starts. Come on, we're working with me here. He starts in a front line. My front line is Venus, Benzema, richarlison, which is not bad, right? Benzema takes a day off, we Charlotte in place through the middle, and I play with maybe, maybe. Maybe, yeah, maybe. Maybe I'm a bit harsh. I'm just not fine. More logical than your man. By the way, I didn't mention this because I didn't want to troll you, but icardi gave an interview recently where he said, I can feel that this is my season. There's a big year. You can stay in round out, Kenya, however you were on your safari with one day and this is fine for me. Gavin I'm guessing many of our listeners won't know much about Qatar's football team, but they did win the 2019 Asian cup. A new book by John McManus shared some lights on how they got to be so good. I found interesting program. Yeah, I thought this was really, really interesting. Because I think a lot of people just simply don't know about it. And I think it's something that that's worth looking at. Basically, obviously, Qatar is we all know it's a tiny, tiny country. You're talking about 300,000 people, take away all the women, all the old people, all the children, and you just don't have a lot of bodies. So people talk about nature versus nurture, you know, I'm more on the nature side, but you don't have people to choose them. So originally, if you remember way back in 2004 and they've done this in other sports, they just started naturalizing. And both, for example, the old Bulgarian or everything. There's even a French kind of thing. All right. So remember they tried that they tried to natural anxiety and they're like, FIFA's like, uh uh, no, you can't do this. So they had to come up with something else. So they built the aspire academy that we've all heard of and essentially they got a bunch of Qatari kids to go and train them. The problem is, you need to play against high level opposition to get better. So they combined it with a certain amount of some call it philanthropic, but they went around the world. They went to Brazil. They were a bunch of countries in Africa, and they said, hey, do you want to come train and live and work at the aspire academy? We'll give you an education. You can work with these, because they also spend a ton of money on coaches and stuff. And they did as they ran these programs around the world, which gave them a lot of know how and a lot of scouting intelligence about promising players. We're talking about kids every time I was watching. Then they were able to bring these guys to cutter where they could train and play against their own guys, which made their own guys better. Some of these guys, when they grew up, they ended up playing in the Qatari league, initially as foreigners, but then, you know, obviously after a certain amount of years, you could be naturalized. So some of them have been naturalized. I think three of them have been naturalized. The one thing which is not so good in this whole thing is obviously there's a lot of as you know there's a lot of migrant labor in Qatar. A lot of these kids who are who are Qatari and play for Qatar. If you don't actually have Qatari citizenship, they have this sort of they have something called I'm blanking on the name now. But it's basically, it's like it's a type of passport, which allows them to represent the country. Yes. But it's not full citizenship. I think 17 of the 23 are like this. This doesn't mean that these are people that they've brought in. These are people who have grown up there and whatever. And it's not that different than that. Other nationalities as well. So it is something that they probably want to work on. So it's interesting how they did it. Obviously took a lot of money, but they didn't just go and naturalize a bunch of really good all at once. Bulgaria's team bus was involved in a serious accident ahead of their game against Georgian bellisi jewels, our thoughts are with everyone involved and particularly linger. Total or NATO live, he underwent surgery for a brain injury. Yeah, that's really dramatic scenes. And in bed, so on the way to the game, the game, the game, by the way, was played. He finished nil nil on Sunday afternoon. And that was Saturday. They left was the only one injured in the whole crash, they took two crocheted two buses, crashed into each other, basically. Let's hope he's okay, apparently the first signs that the good day would be able to recover..

"I think it's all nonsense. I think people forget that early in Holland is a young player who can develop and you can do so many things. He is an exceptional passer of the ball, for example. He will work his rear end off. There's so many dimensions to it. I agree with you. I agree. I don't have any worries not for him not for tarwin for enough of those kind of talents. We put Darwin Nunez in early Holland in the same sentence just yet. No, no, no, no, in the sense that I don't have any worries. It's nothing to do with them in the same sentence. It's just when you have that kind of talent. I don't think you should worry about joining a top top team. I think they might take a little bit of time, but I think they will fit in for Holland. He will give city another dimension whether dies by changing his game slightly. I think he will need to do that. I think pep will have to tweak his way of playing a little bit to suit early in the best way possible because right now they used to play in a different way without someone like Holland, so of course for the brain for Bernardo if he stays for the two windows, whoever they are, it would be different to play with Holland and to play the way they did this season, but it's not going to be a problem. That's the thing. He's going to score loads of goals for city. I'm also looking back to if I was to ask you, who is the best manager that early Holland or the best coach of early Holland has ever had, you would probably say Stalin saw Bakken, right? We're kind of going to the next level here with I'm not blowing someone good pet, but people have talked about how pep has worked with individuals and made so many of them so much better. This is something that's really exciting to me. It's not often that you get managers who get to work with really talented young players at an early age. And it will be curious to see how that progresses. Because when we have to compare everything between Holland and BAPE, I would suggest to you. I'm not saying in bad place had bad managers not a bad manager, but you know it's not a bad manager, but I don't think he's ever had managers who necessarily mean better and help them grow. Whereas Holland will have that opportunity now. Massively, I mean, he will develop his football brain. He will develop his awareness. He will develop. He's, you know, his technical ability, of course. And I think it would make him more mature. I mean, if you are a young player and you can work with pep, you go, you walk there. And I think this is going to be a fantastic matchup. Again, it might take a little bit of time to Sonya the style of this season. After a short summer, but there's no doubt that it's going to be an amazing player for them and pep is going to build them into a World War world class player. But I've confirmed that usman dembele has yet to sign his new deal, which I think we already knew. So that telling us this every so often. Jules, I want to ask you about this because I have strong views on this. It's obviously he's a free agent and a few weeks. He can sign with anybody he wants. He continues to be linked with Chelsea. Can you explain this? Yeah, I think so I tried before. You please try again because he's a winger to a team that doesn't play with wingers. The chess you need the one on one player who takes players on one on one. They need someone who can, no, don't look at me like this. They need someone. Come up with a long list of things that Chelsea need. Okay, but before that. Yeah, yeah, but he's a free agent. So, you know, this is not like I should take a lot of work to be done and a lot of negotiation and back and forth with Sevilla to sign a center back. He's a free agent. You find an agreement with him. He's yours. I think Chelsea badly needs a player that will take on players do four or 5 dribbles successful dribbles per game and have that threat on the sides. Even if somebody not named pulisic or Zia, as your Hudson a joy. They don't have the same qualities. They can run at people but they don't have the pace that then barely has certainly not with the ball at dribbling people, precision is more of an inside ten for me and certainly the way two hole has been playing him. I think if you take them belly, you're going to change a little bit the way you set up and the change it a lot because you're going to have to. You want to stimulate with greenbacks and have a play a while like Denver. Place three four three. But yeah, does it matter? You can not make some outgo. But it goes behind the striker and then you've got more width with ten belly on the right hand side, which leaves chilly well more space on the left hand side because mountain to policies will come inside more, which it won't be the case for them. I honestly, I think this makes zero sense, especially the numbers that he's talking about because that is my way. Disassemble your whole line up to play. If you want to go four two three one, fine, then let's go and have a conversation about four two three one, which, by the way, given that you're losing center backs, might not be necessary to be a bad idea. I think it would actually benefit Lukaku if you stick around or indeed even Harvard's as your wine and you have the wingers there. Then go and do that. But in the system that they played last year is Tuco comes to me and says, yeah, what about the melee? I say, hey, how about you make it work with the guys who are really out of it? Last year, worry about a midfielder and a defender. Once you block the two wingbacks, then there was very little from the wings from Chelsea, and that was just not good enough. And I think you could change that for sure. Sticking with Barcelona garb reports in Spain said that Marcos Alonso has told Chelsea wants to move and that bars are not waiting to see what the price tag is. Yeah, he wants to go and replace usman dembele maybe. Number two. I don't understand this at all. This seems to me like another one of those stories that's out there, right? There's a couple of things. I understand if you're monoclonal. So you say, oh,.

"I think it was a good schooling for him, but it was not the finished article. But when he moved to Europe, completely. And if you look at his very Cavaliers and you were gray and esque in the way he plays, he runs a law. He loves the fighting spirit. You know, he never gives up the pressing all of that. This is great. That is good for club. There's no problem. However, there's still a big difference to write in terms of transition from Benfica and the way they played and then going into a club system in the Premier League playing 55 games minimum season and having all the intensity all are running to do without the ball with the ball being so intelligent and so clever the way you play because in that Liverpool team, the one thing you have to have is super intelligence and I think this will be very interesting to see how it adapts to it. And I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool actually tried to bring him along slowly. And I know that's not easy to do. A big price tag, but I think it kind of makes sense because it is a really big transition stylistically. I mean, those on the show last night, they're talking, oh yeah, and now the big number 9 center forward that they wanted. And yeah, he can become that. I'm not sure clop sees him that way from day one. No, no. I think if I'm caught, I have another year for amino and if he gets back to full fitness and he's going to obviously put motivation of the World Cup, not that he needs more motivation. But I think this is a year where if money goes, we'll get to money in a second. Yeah. It's going to be even more important to have a center forward with fermina like qualities. If you want to ease the transition, somebody with that intelligence, rather than somebody thrown into the deep end or Darwin Nunez, he goes in there and then he gets lumps kicked out of him at the beginning. He has to react. Maybe he goes a couple of days without scoring. I'm not saying he can't do it. But don't you see that the Darwin signing is an evolution of this Liverpool team. A bit like the Jaguar cantara signing was and this is different because he's my stronger. But in the sense that it will help you play in different ways than the Liverpool when femino had such a key role to play. And I would not be surprised if immuno could stay, it's gone at the 11th contract. But not to play regularly because now with Nunes, you transitioning to something a bit different, maybe even more direct maybe than the verticality that you had before. Maybe a bit more physical than what you had before instead of having a family there who will be like before we drop to be like a force number 9 or like a number ten if you want and then you play Salah and Jota on each side of him to benefit from his movement, which is very different to Nunes. So it would be strange to have Firmino for 6 months and then trying to bring Nunez in in a team that is played with a feminine number 9 for 6 months. You see what I mean? I take your point equally, equally there's different ways to learn, right? There's different ways to there's different ways to transition. You could also make the point that if I'm playing in a game and I give the opposition 45 minutes of Firmino. Yeah, I did all of a sudden I just do it on with his physicality and his face. It's going to be pretty good. That's true. That's true. For defender. We've talked about sala because in some ways all has gone under the radar because so much of the focus has been on my name. Obviously still a free agent in June 30th. Where does this play? Does this help Salah? Does this increase the chances of solace staying at a number? There's going to be comfortable with. Would you be worried if you will ever put a new herd Salah say or whatever happens, I would be there next season, even if I don't extend by then, so you take the risk to have him and then 6 months later you can sign for anyone and then 12 months later is completely free on the market. For anyone, would you allow that? Would you want would you want him to commit before? It's either you extend and you stay or we're trying to find your club now. I don't think they can sell both money and Sarah the same window. No. But I think Salah and his agent know that, right? Yeah. So, you know, this idea either you extend. I mean, we're seeing a same thing's happening in Naples with Fabian Ruiz, seeing the happened before in Naples with arik milik, something that happens on lower levels. Club do you don't want to lose their asset, so they say, okay, either we find your club now or you extend. The guy says no, runs his contract on. We're seeing this happen happening all the time. Yeah, yeah. Salah holds all the cards here. There's nothing Liverpool can do. All Liverpool can do is say, okay, well, if worse comes to worse, if we lose money this summer and solid next summer, we lose both next summer. We still have a front line of Jota Darwin and. Then Louis Diaz, which is pretty good. And we have Harvey Elliott, who before he became really was really forward, right? So we're not, you know, we're slightly ahead. This is the worst case scenario. Then it's okay. And we get sala for another year, motivated sala. Sala who's not going to the World Cup, and so we'll be well rested in the second half of the season. And by the way, the way football is going, it's not guaranteed January 1st, solid goes and signs of somebody else. Yeah, if you scored 50 goals at that point and Real Madrid say, hey, join us for next season. Sure. Maybe. But we don't know. That's true. That's true. That's what I find so fascinating. It's probabilities, it's game theory. And I think Sarah should enough done enough for Liverpool to I can stay even without a contract, even with a contract for the following season. And give his best and be a 100% and be committed and all of that, which is maybe not the case of every player who looking down looking up running down the contract. Salah will sell a can. What about my name? Because this has been so public with Bayern. And we're going to deal with you later, but obviously the two things are related to some degree..

"West, London, back from your trip to the states. I'm out of COVID all his amazing. We have a ton of things to get into. Put your team up almost done. We've got this live on dusky manufacturers keeps rumbling on forever. We've got Nations League, some big results. But we have to start with Darwin Nunez, breaking news. Breaking news as we record this, I don't think there's an announcement as we record it, just don't answer it for Liverpool yet. But there is more importantly an announcement from Benfica. They're listed on the stock exchange. They have to announce it. They have said that Darwin Nunez has been sold to liver, but we have a better handle on the price as well. And remember, this is the nice. I love this. I love when we have transparency. I hate it when people off this gate numbers and lie about it and put an add on, signing this. No, no. If you listen to a stock exchange like, you have to put the actual numbers. €75 million is the deal. There's an additional, it could rise by another 25 million to be a 100 million. To 5 million or 64 million pounds, if you're stuck on Sterling, this is going to be partly based on team performance, partly based on appearances. So over time that number will rise, our understanding is 6 year deal. That's not been confirmed, but that's a smart money. Do you like this? I like this. I'm excited to see what happens. Let's not forget that this season the one that just finished. He was amazing. It's called 34 goals in 41 games in all competitions. He was maybe even better in the Champions League than in the Portuguese league, which I think the Portuguese league is a good level, but you always have to be a bit careful with those numbers. But why didn't the Champions League including the games against Liverpool was very impressive? If he can dangerously because he's had a love of injuries, a lot of knee injuries as well through his career from the start. Then in Spain, almeria, and then I've been thinking too, so let's see, but I think compared to what they had in front and considering this is only happening because Manet is going to leave for sure. And they use the money money already for this transfer. I think it's very interesting. Yeah, I'm going to break this down a little bit in terms of, as you know, I like to look at the numbers. And I'm going to deal in Euros now, so don't flip out, but if it's 75 million, we talk about my favorite word, not my favorite, but a mortise. The way clubs go and account is a 75 million in Liverpool's books get spread over the life of his contract. So it's actually going to cost them 75 divided by 6 or 12 million plus change plus his wages. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest this is bases are not going to be more than €10 million a year. No, I think 6 nets, I think. Right, which is about €10 million a year, right? So it's a little bit less than what mane was earning. Which is understandable he's 22 he's younger. So if you put those two things together, he is costing Liverpool, per season, around 22 million. Now you look at the savings you're going to make if money goes. You're going to get an influx of 35. Let's assume $35 million. I think that sounds reasonable. It could be a little more could be a little less. Plus, of course, you're not paying mine is wages, which is, again, roundabout €12 million, right? So effectively, what you've done is either short term, you made money, at least for the first year. And you have a replacement who can grow. My thing with him, though, is I think we're going to see more of him. I wouldn't be surprised if initially we see more of him play on the wing. Play on the left hand side, come in. I'm not sure he's going to be thrown in. No, no, I think there's going to be rotation. I think he's going to be brought along slowly. I really wouldn't be surprised if Firmino comes back and is fit. And obviously, I mean, those contractors also expiring. I don't think he's going to go because with his injuries, I think, personally, if I'm Liverpool, I would say, hey, Bobby, if you show us your fitness, we'll give you another year. I don't think it's interesting to try to force a move now or whatever. But I would imagine some sort of salad Jota Diaz being your kind of your baseline. And then for me, and Darwin being eased in. But primarily on the left, I think initially. Football from the Benfica played last year. From what clock does. Yeah, it is, it is. It'd be very interesting. I think it can bring this kind of versatility in a way or playing wide left or even wide right. And then that center forward that I think you can shine in a club system, but here we need to learn and remember fabinho, they took 6 months to work with him before starting him. And I think we could see the same with him. So let's not be too impatient either when he arrives because I think he will need a bit of time. Now, obviously the big question is now, does Salah extend his contract? Also, because this is another reason, by the way, play center forward. Now, when Jota plays through the middle, which is happened occasionally, when money did it last year, when Firmino does it, they're very aware of the runs of sala makes into the middle. This is going to be very different. And I think again, that's another factor. Let's tell a little bit more to Darwin Nunez and what we know. I mean, one of the first things that comes to mind and I haven't done this, I think somebody should do this. I might go back and do it. It's obviously, you talked about his performances in the Champions League sort of showing this great promise. I think when we look at when we look at players, there's so many different angles. You can look at numbers, both analytics and just appearances and goals. You can look at what the player is. And when you look at somebody like Darwin Nunez, you see somebody who is I'm struck by how strong he is physically. He's got he's got a lot of work rate. And he seems to make good decisions. And these are things that comes quickly obviously values. And he's quick at 6 or two, maybe not the first step, but he's got that kind of acceleration that progression is as we call it. That said, he scored a ton of goals at almeria. I think in some ways, maybe that's for me, it's slightly more significant or I significant as the goals he scored for Benfica. Because of course, two years ago, he only scored 6 goals. And he had injuries, but he still got into 20 odd games. This past season, I think he started 24 games came off the bench 6 times, scored a lot of goals, but again, in the Portuguese league, I wonder how do those goals translate to the Premier League? Yeah, it would be very interesting to see how long it takes to adapt. I mean, the physical quality that he has should help him massively to come to England and be strong and be what we say, we say that, right? Remember Lukaku has a lot of physical qualities to it. No, but not this past season. What I'm saying is it can work both ways, right? If I'm playing for Benfica, in Portugal and then playing portimo inse or whatever. Right. And I can physically dominate when I play in the presence of not just as a general quality higher, but generally you get more physicality where you can get more physicality from defenders, refereed a little bit differently. I'm not sure that's something you can necessarily rely on too. No, no, I see women. I do think that it's better to come in this country and have this kind of that kind of conversation anyway. Then I think he's an incredible finisher. I really think that he's getting better and better and better, but the numbers in terms of expected goals touches in the box were always high, even in the Spanish second division. So on that level, I don't think there will be a problem. And he was only 20 when he was there, by the way. Which I think is also worth to be fed to three season he had in South America. We're not the most convincing because again, there was a few injuries..

"Football in England as Darwin Nunez, a new kid on the car. Oh, you know what? I miss the English back page is awful puns. No, I don't. The talk's really have said to have ramped up a key hours ahead in this move. Although we are hearing that even though this seems to be so close, Mark, with Liverpool, as late as today, Manchester United have been contacting his agent. What do you know about it? The situation is that Liverpool want the guy with the Biden yet, they haven't registered an official bid. They know what they expected to pay too high. United's position is the same Benfica one, is it a 100 million pounds, which they both think it's too much. So there's a sense between both clubs that Benfica and Nunez's people are trying to kind of create an auction credit bidding war for him that would enable both more money out of it. And I think that both of those have been wary about putting too much emphasis on the deal. So Liverpool, I think the favorites because you've got a Liverpool wouldn't yet you got to live a pull ahead of man united. United I'm told a prioritising a central midfielder. Frankie de Jong is the guardian want. That is what ten hag was. He wants to get a midfielder in. So if it means getting the midfielder in before they have to spend on a forward, that's what they'll do. And yesterday's show, Stevie Nichols said he would be happy to let Manet go for 40 million and spend more. We're talking some of these prices that we're hearing up to a €100 million for a play like Darwin Nunez, but it's interesting because isn't it safer to stick with what you know? Would that be a bit risky to, yes, get you there, but also then spend so much more money for someone who is unproven in the Premier League. To your point, it is safer to stick with who you know. But this is a game in which players age out of rather quickly and you just have to look at this side of the table for evidence. Love that. So clubs are always are you including yourself? This side of the table. It felt like you were saying this out of the day. I spent my point being so clubs always have to think about what's next and taking that risk. And putting a price on that risk. And the truth is that your money has got a year left in this contract. He's 30 years old, he's already said that he wants to leave. She'll, if you can get 40 million facade your money, absolutely, I think you do that. If it costs another 40 on top of that, to get the Nunez, then again, for a 22 year old, I think it's worth it. I think it's also complicated to that point by marsala. Also having a year left on his contract because as much as you may want to stick with what you know all of a sudden what you know maybe walk out the door, both of them for nothing in 12 months time. And you've also got the situation Liverpool were minimal. Listen to officer men amino, that's 70 million up for him. A rig is going to go as well, mane, minamino, in one summer, and there's doubts of a mouse salad as well. They have to kind of look to the future. And they brought in leos Diaz, as we know, fantastic signing, Diogo Jota, again, fantastic sign, but they do need to bring somebody in who will be their main guy for May of the next four or 5 years. So that's where Nunes comes in. And so in that sense, and given the fact that they have had success with the previous signings with some of the names you just mentioned there, is it not too risky then to be paying this type of money for a play that David identified? Well, I think and I know it's difficult for us mere mortals to turn the page on a $100 million and just say, well, yeah. That's just like going price. Well, that is. They're going price for this sort of talent. I did sort of age. And while we fixate.

"We also have some very good news, and that's the story around Trinity, Rodman. Great E 60 piece that we're going to show you on Trinity Rodman a little bit later in the show. But let's start with the highlights herc from Sundays. The United States faced off against Uruguay. In Kansas City, children's mercy park, 19 K and attendance Christian Pulisic. Probably like the sellout crowd there. This one up in the 5th minute. Early chance for a while, they got off to a great start Darwin Nunez all alone in the box hurt. Yeah, Joe scallion gets spun right there. They spring on the right hand side for ballistics suffers and early chance for wood white. Yeah. A few minutes later. Another breakthrough for the visitors. Yeah, this was constant, Seth. This was a constant theme for the U.S. men's national team. The yedlin, McKinney, whoever's on that side, not pressing a weak side switch all day. Great chance early on brutal way in the tenth minute. Ball kind of scuffling around the penalty area. Eventually it's going to fall to of all people hurt. Diego Colin, and he almost puts it in Yemen off the line. Did well right here, put in a body. Look at this. A body right there does enough. Where he can't make contact, it was smart of him and had not the line. So do I, pretty dominant in the first ten minutes, but the U.S. would come to life on the quarter hour mark. Here, because who's feed out? Yeah, ASUS doesn't get his feet right there. He loses a bit of time trying to settle that ball gets caught between two minds, watch this. This touch needs to be better in front of him. It stalls. He needs to take an extra touch to set it up. A good chance there. Want to sweat a veteran of many world cups, making.

"Yes. There was a you could tell that Darwin Nunez is a young player because the times when he took dreadful options instead of laying it off to someone else. And then when someone else took a dreadful option, I didn't lay after him, he was just like, hey. We doing them right here. And I was just like, bro you just like, it is on the same. He's on my shortlist of center forward to occupy the entire defense. Actually, he's on my shortlist. Yeah, right. God, he's peak Atleti. That's a little bit easy because ja Felix made that move. No, no, no, no, but his style of play, but it's not even the drafted thing to us. John Felix was a less obvious match. Darwin Nunez is an absolute atletic match. Trying to Alexander. The second pass for the Lewis Diaz knocked down for the mane goal, set him on a call. No, but there was another one that it wasn't the DS goal. There's another chance that he hit one down the right hand side. The creator chance from it, but it wasn't a goal, I don't think. The person that he made in that game was amazing. Liverpool were just pretty comfortable. I thought, even when they got a little bit sloppy and they let them feed her back in the game. They never really felt like they were under the car or anything. No, it's the old cliche, but they have the extra you knew they had more goals in them. You need to have my goals. And just watching Saturday morning and most saddle up front is so business like at this point. We talk about muscle memory for Real Madrid, but Liverpool aren't far behind Liverpool. It's easy to forget how dominant they've been in this tournament. Since about 2018, they've just been a constant factor. Like a Liverpool had gone to the final in all the last four champions leagues. That would not have been a wild, you know, that's not a wild outcome. So yeah, really, really strong outcome for them. Lewis Diaz scoring the third and final goal against old rivals Benfica and they hated that. Did you see that guy who threw what looked like a it looked like a wand? But he was right there from where I was like the goal to do this. But this is the thing about throwing stuff like I wonder what this anecdotal. People have always thrown stuff at players, right? But it just, I don't know if it's more we're noticing it more because of social media and the pictures are coming out. It really worries me that people are uninhibited like that. Because any object being thrown can hit you in the eye and that changes your career. Any object that is this is what gets me a little bit about it like whether it's a stick or a light or whatever. It's like, how are people so disinhibited that actually physically throwing stuff out of player? That's like that's always going to be a bit alien to me to be honest. I just don't get it. Don't get it. I just do not get out at all. I think Liverpool will cruise through that second leg to be honest. That sounds quite disrespectful to Benfica, but I just thought I can't see a Liverpool not progressing through the tie at home. At this point, they should close out the third goal I think was absolutely essential. Two one, maybe. Absolutely. Quickly, a couple of things in the Premier League before we move on, so obviously Burnley beat Everton three two in a massive game in the Premier League. This is a disastrous result forever. They are in serious trouble at this point..
