Reeling San Diego Padres Fire Pitching Coach Larry Rothschild
"Liked every move. The padres main at the end of the day though when those moves get injured or underperform injured in yu darvish injured and paddock underperformance. Snell they're again. They're running a two man rotation out there at this exact moment. This is a team that is not going to win going forward and i think the trade deadline only hurt the chemistry of that team yesterday. They fired their pitching coach. Larry rothschild at the end of the day. Larry rothschild did not get their pitchers hurt. The pitchers hurt and that. And now you got a team that is absolutely looking devastatingly bad and they're about to go into a series of the los angeles dodgers. This might be the series that knocks the padres out a playoff contention period.

"Yu Darvish steals it. It uses it and this is walk up yesterday. Now batting for the Padres pitcher number 11 Yu Darvish. And he stands there and kind of lets the music play and Marissa put disarms of, like, really. And then after the game, here's what he said. I used that song because it was Rizzo. That kind of took care of me. What? Things weren't really working my way in Chicago, so it was in a way to say thank you to him. Obviously I have a good relationship with him Rizzo jester to Darvish in the moment, throwing his arms in the air before the two disgusted postgame. We actually texted each other after the game, but I think he was pretty happy about it, Darvish said. I know the Padres fans didn't get that. But if you're the Cubs, you're like, Well, look at you using Rizzo's walk up song pretty pretty awesome. Darvish what people were just killing him Flu Darvish in the whole deal, and then he goes to South Bend to throw and he lasts an inning. He goes. I can't my arm hurts. He's done for the year ever is like what a bust right Then he goes out. He has a lousy start to 19. And then the start throwing more fastballs and bam! They fix it, Tommy. How did he gets him in the right direction, finishes the season strong and he's great during the Covid shortened season, second for saying, Okay, well, my issue originally, as I mentioned before, I didn't think you should have been a co I thought that After his time with the Dodgers. I said, You know, he can go someplace else. He can't really help the Cubs. But then you remember the story when the Cubs went to Los Angeles, and there's Darvish ducking away from the media hiding in small places because he was ducking the L. A media because they were gonna ask him all the questions about how you fail. Like I didn't like that either. And I'd like, so what's the What's up with you? Darvish? What's up with you? And then? Of course, the other storyline is I don't know if I want to play anymore, right? Let me see how they're handling Covid, which I respected him. Get that. Are they taking this stuff? Seriously, Because I can tell you. If not, I'm going back to Japan. I'm not going to get myself sick. My family gonna retire. He says what he's gonna do. I just you know so those things but Just watching the game yesterday. I really like what I saw there and just the resolve of the Cubs being able to win that game. That's what I liked, and we talked about well played games a couple of days ago. Talking about the, uh The first game between the socks and the Jays. This also very well played game. Not a lot of hits, but I've got some really good pitching on both sides. Yeah, really solid, But I thought the meat they're playing the song was awesome. Pretty funny, Awesome. And your guy wisdom by the way. Another another hits, one for four. That guy just keeps delivering man. He just keeps delivering. And we'll have risen with us tomorrow to preview the Cardinals series. They've got the day off today. We were doing the Matthew and I. Their plane got back in Chicago. 11, 11, 30. A lot of those guys have boats. I will guarantee you if they're not all right. They didn't sleep on the boat last night. Those guys are on the water by eight o'clock guaranteed by as has a cool boat. Hayward has an amazing boat. Rizzo has a boat. I don't know who else but there's a bunch I will guarantee you. They are on the water with their cell phones turned off today. Good for them. They deserve it After that. Victory against the Padres and winning that series. For sure. By the way, I I miss buyers at shortstop when I'm watching the Cubs, right. It's just not as smooth was with Alcantara. And Hap in the middle of the infield. Did you see their lineup yesterday? By the way, the stolen base by the way by the the Padres, and that's another reason why I like the Padres is because they kind of turned the clock back a little bit. They believe in him. You know him the other way. They love the stolen base. I think the top team in baseball and stolen bases, But you saw the song based by the Padres yesterday. That happened. Didn't quite have the bias flourish with the tag just just laid it on there. Like Yeah, and there's an outfielder is playing in field, right? Exactly. It wasn't as smooth. You know what I'm saying? Look at their lineup. Mallard. You see the line update ran out there. The Cubs, right? Yes. Okay? Patrick Wisdom is your starting third basement. Ortega is your starting center fielder with a robust 1 56 to 29 to 50 slash line. Contra is your starting shortstop? P. J. Higgins is your starting catcher? Okay. If I had said to you at the start of the year. Hey, man, they are going to have to Play the Padres in San Diego against Yu Darvish, who is rolling like 11 and one in his starts. Rolling And that's going to be there like four guys that weren't You couldn't have name those four guys. Do you know why the Padres were a great bet there? Look at that lineup. Looks like the lineup after you've won the the division in there before and what's wasted. All right, You guys get the plate and that's what that looks like. Right? It looks like the lineup after you've won the division. And so that's why the difference between now and April is put that out there in April, See if it comes to one. You have no opportunity? No, almost no hit with that lineup, But now they're playing. As Anthony said, Well, ask him again tomorrow with this chip on their shoulder. And it is Can't wisdom Ortega are Contra Higgins. Four. Your starters. Keep in mind. The Cubs just scratched out four hits in that victory, But the difference between April and now is, is that you found a way to win. Otherwise, you're just folding the tent like, Yeah, we're gonna lose this. And you realize that their bullpen came in Rex Brothers, your guy Rex Brothers, Rex brothers, always holding the game an inning. Didn't walk him in and give up a hit two K's 18 pitches 11 for strikes. Then they go to to Pere. It's guide, then, just phenomenal two innings, no hits, no walks. 24 pitches 16 for strike and three punch outs and then Kimbrel comes in and is literally unhittable. He's throwing 99 on the inside portion on the black of the plate and No shot. Yep. No shot And I was argue with Gordon Witmeyer, the other day G Dub G dub cub from NBC Sports, Chicago said that will be the first guy they trade. Hold on a.
Pederson, Arrieta Lead Cubs to 3-1 Win Over Darvish, Padres
"Jack Peterson homered off Yu Darvish and Jake Arrieta allowed one run and four hits in five innings with the cubs three one victory over the Padres Darvish retired his first nine hitters before Peterson went deep to tie the game Darvish pitched well but took the hard luck loss when the cubs scored the go ahead run in the seventh on Anthony Rizzo's double play ball Sergio Alcantara homered off familia pecan with one out in the eighth his first of the season rex brothers picked up the win and Craig Kimbrel got the save I'm Dave Ferrie

"They had been targeting him for the last few years. My question Why not get Mike talk man in here sooner? All you had to give up with wanting Peralta, one of your left handed relievers in a stable full of left handed relievers, and Mike talking already making an impact for a Giants team that has been without Mikey Stransky is down. Donovan Solano and now Could be without Tommy. Let Stella we will get to that. And while Estelle his absence could have such a significant impact on this Giants offense, moving forward, But talk Hman looks like the leadoff hitter for the Giants of Lost. Ella is going to miss any time. He's someone who is taking more than four pitches per plate appearance. He's someone who is grinding down starting pitchers and he is someone who was critical. The giant success against Padres. Righty Joe Moscow of a guy who has been so successful since landing in San Diego this off season in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates Must. Grove was really outstanding in his final few starts for the Pirates last year, and now he's transition to San Diego. Elka home native through the first no hitter and Padres history, the Giants Ran him out after five innings on Sunday. It was their best offensive approach off the weekend. And that is something that we have seen consistently despite all these sub 2 30 batting averages on this giant Russia, and I know that look Regardless of where you stand on batting average is whether you think that it's an important stat or a useless stab everyone who thinks the batting average regardless of what you think if they're under 2 30, that's probably not good. You're probably not producing. And so I get to the Giants offense has been difficult to watch it ties but what they did against Joe must. Grove was really, really impressive, especially after facing Yu Darvish in Game one of the serious Darvish kind of shove against them. They got Blake Snell out of the game early in Game two, but were unable to win. That one is. Anthony de Sclafani gave up three spot in the first inning. The bullpen fell apart in the late innings. But with Kevin Gossman going on Sunday, the Giants have their ace there stopper on the mound, they needed a victory to salvage the final game of the seriousness Hang And first place ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who were up early with two Grand Slams because the Brewers on Sunday who were clearly going to win that ballgame, the Giants took it to Joe Must. Grove. Kevin Gausman played a role in both of their rallies against the Padres starter and Gabe Catholic Giants manager was really pleased with his team's approach. Here's what he had to say. Talk without a great approach against must, grove. I thought our entire group had a great approach against must Grove. We were just gonna be very selective on DSI. If we could run his pitch, count up and We weren't able to do that in every inning. But I thought talked, Hman exemplified the right approach. And obviously, that big, big hit for us was huge, given the fact that we've got a couple of days without hitting with runners in scoring position, so I think you're right on with that, Carrie. Oh, thanks for leaving in that final part of the cliff gave you addressing me after that question. Good stuff. Mike talk Hman joining this Giants offense And look, I don't think anyone thought that when Mike talk when was acquired, he was gonna be ah, huge impact player for this Giants offense. He's a role player. But in Farhaan Society and Gabe Kapler's regime role players are important. He's a complimentary piece toe Austin Slater in center field. Slater was given the opportunity through the month of April to go out and win a full time starting job in center field. Look against left handed pitchers Austin Slater's been quite valuable against right handers. He has been well below league average. So what Farhaan do he went out and got a left handed hitter who they can start against right handed pitchers. And that's exactly what happened on Sunday against Joe must grow. They had Stephen Duggar in the lineup. They had Alex Dickerson lineup, but Mike talk man was out in right field. And so far since joining San Francisco in 17 Plate appearances, he's got five hits. He's got one walk. He has consistently seeing 4 to 5 to six pitches per plate appearance that's really valuable. Is he ever going to look like he did in the second half of the 2019 season when he hit over 300 had eight home runs, post All Star break and ended up with an 8 65 0 P s. Maybe not. He was playing in the Yankee Stadium with the short right field porch. It really worked well for his offensive profile. Mike talk man could be a valuable player for this Giants offense, and he talked about the opportunity in San Francisco. To play multiple games in a row. That is not something that he was able to do in a crowded New York Yankees outfield, and it might not be something to do that that he will be able to do when Mikey Stransky returns, but There's clearly value and being on the field consistently and Mike talk man explain that. I hadn't played two games in a row since like August of last year, including spring training. So then just the more pictures you see the more comfortable you get the batter's box, so just You know, kind of continue can kind of play around with things a little bit more and, you know, do a little bit of a deeper dive into, um you know, picture tendencies and approach instead of just you know, when you don't play a lot when you when you kind of have sparingly really your playing time is, you know multiple days apart. It's just you just try to be aggressive attack, which is still containable bit. Mike talking clearly comfortable in a giant uniform and the Giants clearly comfortable with Mike talk, man. They head into course field with a 17 and 11 record for your 1st 28 games. It is way too early to make big picture projections about the standings have takeaways about what's taking place during the first four or five weeks off the regular season, But I will say this after watching the Giants Six games gets the San Diego Padres have compiled a three and three record. Against the Padres team that is loaded. The Gabe Kapler said, has probably one of the best one through six is in the lineup of any offense in the major leagues. It's clear the Giants can hang with them. It is clear that they're not fazed by what may be perceived as a discrepancy in the talent level. But between the two clubs, it is clear that the giant starting rotation that has been so effective this season 82.34 a leads the majors second place New York Mets 2.67. It's clear the Giants can pitch to the Padres. Nearly every game safer. Sat safe for Saturday's has been close and Saturdays only got away from them because Gabe Kapler didn't want to use his best relievers in a game with the judge for trailing by one run after Anthony DeSclafani exit following the sixth inning. And so I think this is it is important and looking at What the Giants can accomplish this season. Look at the six games they played against the Padres and to realize that this is a team. He's going to give the best teams in the National League hell. At times during this season..
Lockdowns start to ease in England
"It's just a lemonade. Promise but today is the day lockdown stars these across the country. And you can hang out in your garden somebody else's garden the pa pretty much wherever you like so long as outside with up to six people and no more than two households have six friends. So it's just me and the cat. All over england people have been getting out from midnight golfing and darvish to open water swimming in hackney the sense of relief and being able to get out and again his obvious way. I struck a ball since since december so it could go anywhere. Many of us have just been very bored and probably slightly miserable at home and being able to

Ben is a proud partner with Hawthorne Race course. And if you were someone you know, has a problem and wants help call 1 800 gambler for crisis counseling and referrals services. Yu Darvish. That's the picture. I was thinking of, Sam you, Darvish. I mean, you talk about the people deciding that I want to be Cubs fans anymore. They're missing you as well. The quarterback in the NFL, whose absence would move the line. The most is a Pat Mahomes is a Tom Brady, Is it? Um, Aaron Rodgers? What do you think about that? So again. I talked to Kenny White, who has made lines in Las Vegas from 40 years, and he puts a point value on every single player in the NFL. But when it comes to the quarterback, it's a combination of how great the quarterback is. And also, how average or awful the backup is on. Di Think that's Ah, good way to look at this. So he told me that the drop off between Mahomes to Chad Henny and Kansas City is nine points. That's the same number in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers to Tim Boyle. So Rogers is nine points better than boil. And if you look at that point spread right now, Green Bay is about a three point favorite against Tampa Bay. If Aaron Rodgers were to fall down the stairs and get ruled out. We're talking about Tampa Bay, potentially being a 3.5 of four point favorite, or even more so those two are both nine points better than their backups. Josh Allen is 7.5 points better than Matt Barkley and the low man on the totem pole. Believe it or not, Tom Brady is only 5.5 points better than Blaine Gabbert, according to Las Vegas, and he's still playing. How about that? And I should I be rooting for Tom Brady? Now that he's wearing a different helmet? Why is that kind of fun? It could be. I think it could be. I think it's a good story because he was sort of pushed out the door in New England. And he decided that you know what? I'm not done playing. I'm gonna go somewhere else and prove that I can still do this now. Is he the player? He once? Woz? No. I watched that whole game box against the Saints. I thought Brady was average. He looked like a 43 year old quarterback. He completed. I think 18 passes and 33 attempts for 199 yards that people are always going to sell. You can't bet against Brady. But I think the defense was more important than Tom Brady. They picked off two robberies three times. They forced the fumble at midfield. The Bucks didn't win because of Brady, but also he didn't do anything wrong. He didn't make any mistakes, so he did enough to keep them in the game. And then in the fourth quarter, you can throw all the intangibles out the window. There's no quarterback in the world you'd rather have with a lead or, you know a semi close game than Tom Brady because there is such a thing as clutch nous, although to a breeze is good in the clutch. Aaron Rodgers have been good in the clutch. I thought that game last weekend was fun because the What was that The combined age of the starting quarterbacks was 84 or something like I'm not making that up. It was 41 43 or something. So, um, that was just kind of fun. I know. A lot of people noticed that that may have been Who breathes his last game, right? And then he kind of turned and looked afterwards was fun Video of Drew Brees and Tom Brady after the game, throwing the football on the field with their kids, which was kind of fun. So for NFL fans. There was that was a fun matchup. I'll say that, um, talk to me about the big bed of the week. Then what were you seeing last week? So there was a customer of points bed that place the weight. A juror on Saturdays NFL game between the bills and the Ravens bills were 3.5 point favorite, so they had to win by four or more to cover. Somebody had points bed. Bet $5400 per point. So for every point the bills covered by the better winds. 5400. I like that kind of bills. Go ahead. Thing is, it goes the other way. So if the bills don't cover That better had to pay 5400 plus the juice on every point. Bills were up 10 to 3. The Ravens were driving. They were about to score a touchdown King. It was about to be 10 to 10, which is bad for this bill's better. Lamar Jackson throws an interception. Buffalo runs at 101 yards all the way down the field 17 to 3 and that better covered by 11.5 points to win $56,000. Well, I've not heard of a bet like that, where you bet per point. Over the over the, uh The line, right? So if it's 3.5, and then no way to talk to me about that, I'm trying to hear what this means. Let's just say in a basketball game, you lay two points and the team wins by 20. You won by 18. So you multiply 18 times the amount of your wager. That's your payout. Right. So I don't even have to. Um, I mean, so say it's 20 points. Um, I don't have to be. I guess The point is, I don't have to be perfect on that bet, right? You don't have to be perfect, but you'd also not like to lose by a lot. If you laid two points. If you're a two point favorite, and your team loses by 20, then you lose 22 times. Your wager, so it's It's a hair raising bet either way, and it's It's certainly something that could swing on a dime like that game did with Buffalo in Baltimore..

"I think Contreras is kind of unique among these players that are bandied about in trade rumors because He did have a good season. He has improved in his pitch framing, which was kind of the one missing piece to this game, and his trade value hasn't like totally sunk and he's not Super expensive, You know, for an All Star catcher in the way that, um, a team acquiring Kris Bryant might have to take on close to $20 million in salary. You don't have to do that with Wilson Contreras. And there aren't a ton of like great catchers out there. So I'd anticipate whether or not the Angels I anticipate hearing his name in trade rumors more often, you get close to spring training. Couple minutes here. Patrick Worth Patrick Mooney, senior writer for the Athletic Chicago Let's talk a little bit about the Darvish deal to San Diego. Victor Care Tini in there, Zach Davies goes the Cubs for prospects Come along, really with the prospects when when they're 18 years old. You just don't know obviously what they're gonna be, but Did you kind of get a sense is was Cara teeny more of a throw in or how are they able to get Darvish and Cara? Teeny? Maybe in a deal like that? Well, I I think it was a It's not a priority. Real consideration for San Diego to have a guy. Who is essentially Darvish, his personal catcher, Someone who could help smooth his transition to San Diego. A Xeno Brendan or time out of picture with what, like 11, different pitches or, however many curveball. Yeah. Yeah, everyone had to find it there. Lots of variations off of that. He's someone who Likes to work at his own pace and can kind of improvise. And in between starts just totally pull something out of his back pocket that you don't expect. So I think, Karen teeny like a switch hitter, you can play first base. On it, And she's a nice young player. Um, and it made a ton of sense for San Diego to push for that in the deal, And I'd imagine, um, that helped out the Cubs. You know, it decreases their financial obligations. Uh, it enhanced the practice the package of prospects who you're right. I mean, we're talking about guys who are Probably, you know, a couple years away from South Bend if we're thinking of South End as ah, High 18 Now, I mean, you guys air, you know, years away from from Wrigley Field, but, uh, you did also more than him that some of these guys could also be used in deals sooner rather than later. To help get some, uh Major league caliber players. Patrick Mooney,.

"In this in this, Jesse, I think this is an important thing to point out. You don't go trading Yu Darvish like they did unless there's some kind of a mandate in place. Where you got to get rid of salary. I mean, I understand that you you wanna Yu Darvish is a depreciating Asset. If you want to look at it like front office executives, Theo he's getting older. He still cost money, and they're probably trading him at his peak like you can make an argument that Now is the time to trade you, Darvish. But man, if that's what you're getting back for it roll with Darvish Roll with Hendricks Roll with Rizzo roll with Bryant and contrary And what you've got and hope that these last you know, 34 years haven't been indicative of where they're going to be in that you can change something up. I just don't know that trading your best player and he was their best player last year is the right way to do things if you're trying to win, but you know there. Probably not. Probably not exactly right. What's next might be even the bigger decision for Jen lawyer because with Darvish you were a little bit caught in between. They were good, but not really elite. Now you're certainly not even close to your further from that. So you probably have to push all your chips in on some sort of a bigger rebuild as message as much as everyone in the game hates that. Yeah. I mean, you put you put it pretty well there. Well, the contrary. I'm Brian. I'm I'm curious. I'm curious. Jesse what this cub's roster looks like at the beginning of the 2022 seasons, not just a 2021 season like you know, if if contracts were to be moved Like reasonably soon wouldn't shock me at all? No, no. How about August? 1st Forget about 22. How about August 1st? Because there's no way Craig Kimbrel or Kris Bryant is on this roster on August 1st let alone will sicken trips. Michael. I mean, I mean, the cops gonna be like paying down Kimbrel, because unless unless he comes out and is the camera of the fast, nobody's gonna want him yet. Have a good first half. Maybe the Padres will be interested in the 77th inning. Arma Jeff. I don't know that's a No. No. You know what the Padres has done the Craig Kimbrel trade. Thank you, baby. They came to regret that that's a good time. I. In fact, I think they gave up Max freeze in that deal. So, uh, Jeff passes? No, but that's That's isn't that part of this right? Like If you're gonna win, sometimes you're going to give up things where you look back and go. Damn. Of course I'm Matt. Right. What is the latest on Liam Hendriks? Is there any chance the white sex actually entertain? Going out in signing him, or is he going to cost too much money for their appetite? I don't know if it's gonna be the money that bothers them. I wonder about the years. Uh, Liam Hendriks wants four years. I'm not sure he's going to get that from the White Sox. I did that Executive survey. Jeff and I asked, you know who's gonna most likely be overpaid this winter. The top two hamsters were Liam Hendriks and Alex Parliament. Always the closures that take the abuse. I feel Yeah, they really do it Z not not fair to them because they look if I'm the White Sox. I sure as hell want Liam Hendriks. "For all the deal that he makes like smell, where he might have overpaid a little bit being aggressive gets you in there when there's a deal like the Darvish one to be had And they were look they've been in on this. For weeks now, like this is not something that just cropped up. They've been working this for a while now and finally got to the place where they were able to execute it and You know, if if Jed Hoyer is talking with AJ Preller about Yu Darvish, he's talking with others, too, and if he starts in with others and goes back To AJ Strickler and says Ultimately, this is the best deal that I'm gonna be able to get. What does that tell you about the rest of the market and their aggressiveness and their desire to win? I'm trying to win a world Syriza in 2021. I want you Darvish on my team. Yeah. Other teams in that Why aren't other keys in there clamoring for him? It's It's absurd to me that baseball is now at the point. Where the second best pitcher in the National League last year doesn't have a market. And it makes me wonder what happens with the best pitcher in the National League last year who happens to be a free agent right now, and it's seeking money. Ah, lot higher than what you Darvish is going to get paid. Yeah, And that's what I said earlier work backwards from the trade. And you realize for whatever reason, Jeff Jed Hoyer didn't have the leverage Cup fans wanted him to have He didn't have the leverage and there weren't enough teams involved..

"Dick. I'm gonna put you back on hold. Let's go to David Whiting, Indiana. Hello, Dave. Hey. Good morning. You know, um I don't mind the trade Don't mind it at all. I know the rebuild needed to be done well when you lie at the end of the season, saying this is not a rebuilt and then you blind side, not only the fans But the man himself, Yu Darvish. So players, arm or conscience these days, they're more conscious of where they're going. The money's there. Of course. You see it a lot with the MBA. You see it with the Chicago Bulls. Noble wanted to come here after guard pack. So now I'm looking at this. Mm. Hell needed to get bullpen help. You didn't get any So is this a product off? Rickets holding him back. Money wise now, now that I'm seeing this, or is it they just want to tear everything down from the ground up. We got a bag of beans back. Were Darvish. There's the Cy Young runner up. I wouldn't have minded if we got someone with a little bit more caliber. I know you guys said Prospect lives don't matter. Way it does in the mat in the fans eyes and that's who who's been there when they were down in the dumps when you promise in organ is a fan base. So loyal that the Cubs are you blindside them with this. On Do you Don't even tell the man Harvest. About it. How does that look to the other leads to the league? How does that look to the fan base? I mean, now I'm looking at Rick. It's like he's the one that was holding the little back, inciting what we needed a leadoff hitter and a blue pin, and that's why all the shuffling of the roster just a fit some square pieces in a circle. Now it's coming to fruition that these managers wanted to get this World Series title. We got it with the core. We got we were looking. We're banking on potential. We didn't trade forever after 2017. We traded Quintana because we wanted to catch lightning in a bottle. Be traded for Chapman. I mean, it's an argument to save Chairman Goddess that World Series title or it just gave us a little jolt. But in the long run old boys in New York and all star hitting 40 home runs this season back to back off star season. And then you look in the Royals. I forgot the guy. We traded to the Royals. Uh, big Dominican solar. But last year he was he was a bit of a dog when he was here. Yeah, He was like a game. We're making the wrong moves with potential wise men in the long run. I think so. Larry is going to be a better hitter than for Bert. I mean, it looks like it looks like it. It does. DJ LeMay do be gentle man who was an all star. We let him go. All right, guys. Happy New Year, man. They don't come back. They David wouldn't come down a little bit, Dave. We appreciate it, but that's what I'm not surprised. That compares with that upset. Um Field steps down with a year to go on his deal and video probably saw what was coming up. He probably saw the Rikers was going to spend any money. They're going through all the losses and money losses with the cove it in the pandemic. Annette Why am I going to be in a situation even in order to get paid for another year? Why am I gonna be in a spot right? Can't do anything. And I'm gonna have to try to rebuild and that at the end of the year say sorry I'm gone. Fio did he got out when I get it was good. If you look at it, maybe he did the right thing for this organization. But Jed Hoyer. I cannot wait. He's gonna talk later on today Around 10 o'clock. "Cubs Trade Yu Darvish yesterday at least we got word. We're still waiting for the deal to become official once the medicals are given the OK, but they received four prospects and Zach Davies back in return. We've been talking about that. We just spoke with Jeff passing on top of the hour about the return that they were Seve and Jesse Rogers. Jeff Miller in for Common a year ago. Today, we're also letting you the fans sound off on what you think about. That deal and where the Cubs are currently at. Let's try Gerard, who's in New York. Gerard, You're on ESPN 1000. The going, guys. This trade isn't isn't upsetting to me at all. Paying attention to the gradual things over the last two years. It's It was bound to happen. It was it was good seeing Darvish on the mound. Those Those two good years. We had him will year and a half. I'm not upset at this trade at all. They The thing I am upset about is that the lack of transparency with the organization and the fans It's it sucks that you Darwish had to find out on Twitter as As we did it should. They should almost be a separation there. It's that's only upsetting thing is is leaving until feeling that's the only thing really. Well, honey, let me address that. Because you know this my job reporting stuff. You know, you have that sense of humor. He did not find out on Twitter. He did not find out on Twitter. Maybe there's a Moment in time where he found out some information on Twitter. He knew what was going on by mid afternoon. I just I know that I know his representatives knew that. But you know how he can be a little goofy, so, especially on Twitter, So I won't blame the Cubs for that. I think his people knew what was going on. But look, I've been reporting since summer that there was gonna be a bloodletting. People were listening. I kept saying now I'm not agreeing with it that the idea that we're crying for others just reporting it. This kind of thing. The salary duck was happening. Um, so I was just prepared for I'm not sure maybe other people weren't prepared for whether it was right or wrong. Listen, if I were Coast fan, I would be upset because where they're currently at a like Look, put the financials to the side. A Zafran I don't give a damn You run the business, however you want But don't expect me to be happy about and like you're just just yet. This is where I disagree a little bit You mentioned, you know being transparent. Honestly, they can't tell me. You know what we need to reduce payroll because of where we're at. I don't care. You know what? It's your business like you mentioned the Picasso painting. You are an ownership of the Picasso painting. The moment you choose to sell, you're gonna have plenty of money. There's gonna be plenty of suitors or happy to pay billions of dollars for this entity. If you could no longer do it. I think the problem we've gotten too in in 2020. Is that and and I'm guilty of it as much as anybody else. So I'll admit this where I buy into the idea of, you know, not having to pay money for the elite talent because eventually you know it's a bad contract. You know what You're making plenty of money hand over fist. That's fine. You should be able to do both. You go out and scout young players who you can add to your minor league system. And at the same time when you're you know, in a top three market in the in the US, you should be also able to put a competitive team out on the field and in the National League Central It's there for the taking The problem. You know, people get upset when you have poor performance in the playoffs. Unfortunately, if you listen to Theo and Jed, talk time and time again, the problem is the small sample size of a playoff series, you know, and especially when you reduce it down to a three game. Syria's that you can lose two games to any team in baseball. That's just the reality of it. So the playoffs are not the are not always indicative of good teams. Winning? Sure the Dodgers it took the Dodgers 34 crack said it before they finally were able to win the World Series. And people have been telling you year after year that they've got one of the best teams in baseball. That's the problem with the baseball playoffs. But the truth is that the N L Central was there for the taking this year. And if you had you, Darvish on this roster with as many holes as it has, I think you could have easily seen the Cubs make the playoffs And maybe you'll get lucky. Maybe you win that two individuals to get to say no. No, but nobody wanted to see you back. Come on. You had to improve, Okay? And that that's the better argument. Why not signed power instead of subtract Darvish? Why not signed George Springer toe to play center? Okay, you let go of shortbread. You save a few bucks there. Move half over the left. Sure the better answer. Then just bring everybody back to contend because they've tried that. They've tried that you're right. And that's being between their card and their good. They're not a leak. And how many times can you be good and not elite? Before you realize I gotta make some changes..

"One Darvish has thrown a lot of cutters today, pitches thrown most during the season, and he's recorded zero swings and misses But 14 called strikes a one And that's inside one ball one strike. From the cutter. The four seamer the slider, splitter, knuckle curve sinker, at least four pitches out of all of those six different types. Of pitches. Darvish has mixed it up, as he traditionally does and done a good job using the entire strike zone. Mixing stuff has shaken off charity a lot more than I remember in the past in the regular season, I like kick into the wind. The 11 is golfed down the right field side. Rizzo gives chase. But this is out of place. Think there's any question that Darvish knows exactly what he wants to throw how he wants to mix the pitches. He's done the homework against the Marlins lineup, but this is literally his game. He's all in that rather than Tarantini back there. I've actually of all the postseason games I've seen. Darvis has shaken up more pitches in this game than any pitcher in this postseason. Quite a contrast from Sanchez, who was working at Gazelles pace and clearly relying on his gun, catch her wallet and it's worked for each side. Which number 81 coming in the seventh. It's a 12. And it swung on and missed a fastball up in away. Strike three guitar goes down. Darvish collects is six strike out of the game. 94 months are fastball back to back.

"Cubs team needs at home runs to win. That's how they get most of their runs in the regular season on the other side for the Marlins, they have to win in a different way. They get on base against Yu Darvish, and they need to run. They need to steal the bags that you get in scoring position. So for the Cubs, it's the homers. The Marlins is little ball barns were second in the league in stolen bases. They stole two in the opener. They had a couple of home runs, though it a five run seventh, winning that game. 5 to 1. Miami will look to go to 70 in playoff series in franchise history. The Cubs are just hoping to stay alive. We'll have first pitch shortly, but now let's head back to the studios and Jim Basketball. Right, Kevin Thanks so much. Cubs and more lands were postponed yesterday, but there was plenty of postseason play on Thursday, news notes and scores. This is the leadoff Game three Cardinals and Padres today after San Diego rallied from six to down last night, powered by the long ball one swing and a high fly ball center field at Steve backing a bitter at the wall. They can't get it. It's gone, and it's another Padre homerun Wil Myers for the second time. A two run blast and San Diego sitting pretty. They now lead it 11 to 8 in the bottom of the eighth. Dave O'Brien with call Wil Myers, the eventual game winning blow. San Diego hit five home runs. With both Myers and Fernando Tattoos. Junior becoming the first teammates who each hit two home runs in a playoff game. Since Ruth and Gehrig for the Yankees 88 years ago. ESPN radio coverage comes your way for that. Chicago Cubs revert to dismal hitting at home in loss to Marlins

Yu Darvish, Cubs became perfect fit over time
"Now I wanted to ask you about this in it's a harder question to. Answer Two thousand twenty because we're it's not like we're in club houses and we can watch the body language and see players and how they interact with each other i. know in that first year that there were people in the cubs organization who felt like that darvish just wasn't comfortable with the group and it didn't have any do I. Personally I don't think with the other players on the team, but just he maybe was just the pressure of the contract where it felt like he was more of an outsider, not completely within the team realm what what are you seeing? What are you hearing more? So about that now? Get Away, I can relate it from my world reporting world. Is that first year it even though he speaks fine English, he used a translator all year with the media. Now he didn't use it with his teammates but. I think that was is an example of how things change in the second year last year he spoke English, his personality came out he he he got he got to know reporters like myself a lot better and then this year in Spring Training Boston he was like the class clown he was having a great time with us until things shutdown ironically or I guess that's the right word coming back from the pandemic only being able to zoom interviews he's been different. He's been back to being kinda quiet and back he's used a translator at times in the zoom interview so the other thing. Is. He's having so much success. You know how guys are in the middle of a great run they don't WanNa really talk about themselves so much, and that's all we're asking is about him. So things have gone a little quiet this year, but there's good reasons behind it but from year one year too when you're two to three, he changed big time and you might be right. It might be the contract I think coming off what happened in world series in seventeen with the dodgers really affected him as well big time, and then he comes to the cubs in eighteen huge contract big market. Diehard of bands everywhere expecting the world and you know he was also injured as it turns out so that first year was a mess and then slowly but surely he came out of his show that these interviews in English teammates got the no one better 'cause even in even in eighteen. Teammates I saw with Rizzo hanging out on the road and stuff like he was still tight with teammates but not the saint he wasn't outgoing now he's outgoing and that really is true personality. So it Kinda mimics what he's done the mount he's become self again on the mound as well as in the dugout in the clubhouse and with the media.

"That that that's the way I look at where the Cubs in socks, they're mirroring each other in that regard. When it comes to starting pitching, could we combine our teams Because you trust at this point time? You've got a sigh young guy in Darvish the way he's been pitching so far. This cardinals who will tell a great story about Darvish in the Cy Young, if he can be able to get it done today, I think Darvish and Hendrix and then Leicester is not the Leicester that that we have seen, you know in the past, and it's not red face. Lester Jessie. It's just a guy that seems frustrated like no. One. He's red face. When he feels like getting squeezed. It gets a little pissed off, but he just feels like now he looks hittable and so There's two guys I trust, but I'll go back to the point. You gotta have starting pitching that she could rely on. If you only got to. That doesn't mean you have a long shelf light for the playoffs and think. Yeah, I think the same thing is true with the socks. That's why Lance Lynn to the Sox would have made a lot of sense if it could have happened. Giolito and Kike or great Darvish and Hendrix are great. We don't know after that for either team, But there's a lot of teams that have maybe three pictures. So you gotta look at the competition as well on DATs. Why the Padres getting Clevinger was so huge. It is so different now with this extra round. And there probably won't be a lot of off days because if they're in a bubble, there's no travel. And you don't need thio have have players sitting around a hotel on an off day necessarily mean there will be a few for TV and stuff. But in general It's it's go four rounds. Let's see who can survive it and everyone's going to be searching. So yeah, if you get old Jon Lester back, that's going to be huge and maybe a fill in the blank. On the fourth start, Mills gets a few few 23 innings you bring in the lefty and, you know, mix and match and do things like that, But Secondly, perfect for either team on the mound, going in the playoffs in terms of getting Canton aback, or chat, What are they expected to be back here in the next couple weeks or We got real troubles. Yeah, I can't see Chatwood being a huge part of this thing with indelible issue, But the answer's quite both questions is I think they are hopeful. Container with a LAT LAT problem is still going to need some time. A cz. Well, I think they're hopeful for one of them contain. It was looking pretty decent. You know, Chatwood was trending in the wrong direction, but Atanas arm looked fresh as it should be. So I don't know if you can bank on either one cap, but I think they're hopeful they get at least one back. And, yeah, maybe you can ride Quintana for a couple starts at the end of September and then into October, but I don't know if you can rely on that last. Aren't you know, easily healed all the time. And we know elbow problems certainly aren't so just for that reason where the nature of the injuries I would give contain a little bit of a night before Chatwood in terms of coming back. What your good feeling for the series for the Cubs here this weekend? What do you think? Well, I mean, we take our five and shut them out all five games. That would be just so sweet. You're going to piss off John Rooney. I can't take it five in a row. That's not gonna work on a five game. The thing about five games Siri's at least you get your best starters in the series for sure, because now we'll see Darvish tonight. I wrote about him today. His resurgence has been amazing. Hendrix. Obviously, I think is Monday, Lester Sunday. So you have your main guys going? It's Saturday. That's field just texted me, Jesse while we're talking They've announced Darvish for Saturday, both ends of a double. Well, if he can do that, and he could walk home with the Cy Young Award. Amazing. He's up against Max Max Freak who has to give up our home run this season. That's kind if he doesn't give up a home run through a 60 game season. I think Max Fried's gonna win it. But right now, Darvish is probably the leader after his August pitcher of the month. I talked to Trevor Bauer this week about Darvish because they've been texting each other going backto last year and just some great stuff in it, and it came down to the last moment on the mound forum. Where Ha did he comes out and says We want you to pick up the tempo, but he meant in his delivery. Darvish took it as we want you to pitch faster. You're going too slow, and they really had it out a little bit. In the dugout after that inning, and they worked it out and Darwish like, Look, I'm going to take a long as I need between pitches and how to be like that's fine. Just make sure the temple of your delivery is the same every time you throw And he took off from their game. Darvish games are longer now Cub games or longer when Darvish pitches, But the results are night and day, and it's just amazing. You know, Bauer could not say enough about Darvish, Really? He said he memorized a YouTube clip of 13 strikeout performance of Darvish, he said, I can picture every single strike out. The ball coming out of his hand is amazing the direction it can go on whatever. Bauer said that Yeah, He said that you believe it right? We're seeing the fruition of all that stuff this season, and if he doesn't win the Cy Young Hee's number two, Can I give you another award winner? I not winner but someone No one's really talking about from the warden and I have the MVP vote this year. I've started to study this thing You can write down 10 names. How many voters are going to write in half among their 10 names and how high on that M V P finalist? Is he going to appear Because I'll tell you what he's in the top five. Top five right now, especially guys. If Yu on Lee really look at the winning team, because I think in a 60 game season, the value of what even happens doing is huge. Right. I mean, Juan Soto has the slugging percentage right up there with Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds. He really does know, but he's on a losing team. And there's a few of those guys, I think in half Fernando Parties and about Bryce Harper. Maybe a couple other guys are in the running for VP brand without seasons, winning that award. I didn't hear you say Abreu. Where's national All nationally? Okay. Isa Bre U Would he be on your American League list? Absolutely. He's going to win that award in loans. He doesn't tank the last two weeks. A break you? Yeah, if he keeps Reasonably good play. You can't vote anybody other than Jose Abreu. Yeah, he he might win it. And what if he had have finishes in the top three? I mean, you know, they made finalists. That would be amazing, considering where he's come from. Who else? You said titties in half. Bryce Harper's doing well for Philly, but not as well as one. So the other guys, looky, but thank you bets. That's that's that's probably there as well. Those are your top five in some order, But Gypsies is probably number one, and by the way, as we let you go, there was a big loss for the Cardinals..

"Thrown by Darvish right on schedule at seven OO five central daylight time five oh five Pacific it is seventy eight degrees here at Wrigley Field and human and there is it a chance of some showers as the game goes along now scooter genet the jets have six left handed hitters in their lineup against Darvish our mission with a high SAT delivers and he's a little bit high on the outside with a breaking ball one ball and no strikes that was his slider garbage first start of the year was in Texas against his old team back on may the thirtieth and he walks seven in two and two thirds innings and that's sad sort of a disturbing trend early on this year for him of wildness now he pitches and there's a hi foul fly off the feline starting over each warmer but this one is back into the crowd out of play well back one born in once right however since the all star break that is were Darvish has been a whole different kind of a pitcher he's only want to since the break in forty two inch this is the same guy who walks seven in two and two thirds innings in his first start of the year now Darvish with the one one pitch in its pop foul off to the left back in the second act right to Wrigley Field which measures three hundred and fifty three three fifty three down the right field line three fifty five down the left field line three sixty eight to the power alleys and it is listed as four hundred to straightaway center but the the park will play small especially depending on which way the wind is blowing or is it is the case right now it's not blowing at all this is your first and diving back to the bag is described him much like the giants home ballpark oracle park in San Francisco when there's no wind at all the ball carries very well and why not the dimensions are pretty cozy scooter genet with account of one born in two strides use garbage into a stretch his Rimsky leads from first and the page a ground ball hit something the first resort has it over the second one and no return thrown from the shortstop Baez what was it very softly by Jim that if they get the lead runner his friends he forced out at second and we won away here comes Evan Longoria by the way we give you the game time temperature seventy eight degrees is seven oh five central daylight time attempts sponsored by UCSF health redefining possible to UCSF health dot org Darren chan our user and the technical director ten point not to lie I left out one of the key components of the time in temperature I thank the C. hello oversight there my point here is Evan Longoria right handed batter one out one on and Darvish pitches no one outside football one one came in there at ninety five miles an hour the pitch speed readings are sponsored.

"Hat or holding you darvish off my guts and i'm going with my heart i'm going theresa a buddy you darvish and the cy young conversation makes it makes its appearance again endo yeah gotree though i gotta look up and see how the sausages they're doing this i asking today at check that out a high i will find it i forgot defined it before today's episode worth of july coming up a this is the episode before the fourth enjoy your holiday today's wednesday the third i'll be working on the fourth but that's okay a there's gonna be a lot of sausages eaten i guess yeah fourth of july that's my prediction is that count a lot quieter sausages eaten no okay well let's take a review i know that i got the adrian hauser prediction from last week wrong i predicted did give up one run with the over his to quote unquote starts 'cause you they were stretching about a over five and a third innings minimum he failed like i said but okay and start which is nice do you have any wrap up i don't remember what you had a they only one that that finish for me was anthony rizzo hit ten plus home runs beginning june fifth through the rest of june 'em he's he fell seven short he hits three in that span so a so yeah i'm not having much luck with a home run on a prediction but yeah well that oh that reminds me yeah we have i have another woman got a bunch all star break one this year coming up a cast in here at ten plus home runs a he might do it yet hey he's got florida go he hit another one a couple of nights ago in cincinnati it's not over until it's silver right yeah though how many rooms the left before the break let's see here the brewers got one two three four five he just needs his foreign five games it's totally doable unlikely but if they had left him up instead of shaw i bring it shaw backup i would be sitting pretty on that prediction but well chris brian five plus home runs a well i think he has a hit nine home runs in the next five games well that one so that one likely that it's not impossible okay honorably just save these pre yeah will wrap up after the all star break were they have a lot cover and it's okay yeah you know how smart we are more like how stupid we are but also don't forget we are asking the fan base the listeners out there what you think maybe the punishment should be the loser of the production segment so let's keep that yeah we've got some ideas it really won't be done until november because of the cy young voting not this is you darvish is gonna be in any way now that ryan filled out over dell if you over okay yogi i get it all right so let's get into today's productions why don't we so what's the all star break coming up i kind of have one you got anything in mind yet do you think about you know i don't drink so okay well here's a fun one okay got yeah christian yelich will be participating in the home run derby he leads all of baseball with thirty one home runs this season i am predicting that he wins the home run derby i know it's not that outlandish but it is one guy out of eight there's gonna be eight dudes hitting we know of six so far we got yellowish pete alonzo the rookie from the mets and i don't mean never mind i meant hot hitting rookie from the mets right josh bell who has been well the cubs fans were familiar with josh bills work a ronald kunia junior will be hitting vlad guerrero junior that'll be kind of fun to watch carlos santana will be the hometown hero going for the cleveland indians that's what they all star game is this year and there will be two more added to it is christian yelich winning the home run derby a bold enough prediction though i don't think i think if i had said this at the beginning of last season nobody would've ever thought christian yelich would be the leading home run hitter you know baseball yeah i hear you know the home run derby such a weird thing in so i a sure sure a ball it's bold bold enough i mean it is a different thing you know right i wouldn't say he's a one in eight shot but i would say it's probably more like a one in five irwin in six and really with our predictions if you're new we try to get it around something like we try to make them pretty tough the actually get correct i think of one oh five one in six chances a pretty tough shot a you could say he might be fifty fifty i don't think so but you know i mean josh bell is a monster vladimir could do something crazy pete alonzo and then there's two more guys coming i dunno bellenger declined or if he's gonna do it there's another guy oh yeah so so that's what i'm going with christian yelich to win the home run derby it's a ninety miles prediction keeps it nice and clean another one to wrap up but they all star break yeah 'em i i'm going to a i'm gonna go ahead and make a all star game prediction new cubs don't have anyone in the home run derby that's fine 'em a but i'm gonna go at the game i am going to predict now i have i do have one already and i'll do have one already yeah who's gonna be the all star game mvp i said a cubs player will be named the all star game mvp a well i did okay which one 'em that was bowl back in a still pretty bold bowling i would only ran kind of random random and i think the randomness is the boldness of it because oh for sure so i'm lauren is predicting it'd be kinda similar in in randomness sense a is what makes it boiled i'm gonna say that a hobby by as will hit a home run in the all star game okay there you go that bold enough that is oh yeah yeah i'm not sure if it's predicting a guy hit a home run in any game is is it's pretty bold yeah any game early but i yeah yeah especially in all star game i in some ways but i i do feel like the way the kind of player he is a you know he i think he he likes the vikings adrenaline in the fun of will he'll just really have fun with that is i i'm just gonna go with my gut here that go with my heart sure yeah javier by the true reason right yeah so oh go yeah so there's are productions i think i think that was pretty good a hobby could do it i would've predicted more like he strikes out twice going down to a new one time that you that's me and he might do that too but i but then it would over onto so no yeah well he's gonna hit a one hopper over the fence who knows i don't even know what he's gonna do why do i could get a win to predictions that if he does hit a home run maybe there's a chance he gets yeah humidity as well so we'll see although it doesn't have to be him could be kris bryant or will signatures that's you know but a so yeah there we go a i guess that's that wraps it up right yeah i think so if you've enjoyed this episode let us know go give us a review whether it be on i tunes or whatever platform you listening to on the real housewives us out yup were having a lot of fun doing this we hope you're enjoying it to were trying to build it up so so we can keep doing it for a couple of few years at minimum but we do need your help please get signed up we get some friends signed up come out check it out listen if you've got feedback for us tweet at us at school were totally down so that a if you've already followed us you probably already know i don't take trolling very well so you have some fun yeah it's pretty easy to do very entertaining target very entertaining airborne and you want a quick lab just just get on jesse about some some terrible the brewers and you can expect a sinner yeah you could you could actually affect my mood for a day how about that yeah exciting he'll take it would be very upset that you know you kind of ruined his life a little bit further day no that's good while he needs why did our love of domino effect and yeah yeah get after ryan need this more than i do you take some more personal any let's on oh anyway sure yeah if you enjoy the episode let us know about a get after us we also have a patriotic if you wanna yeah we're gonna lose a little bit yeah it will start doing some some special stuff on there will talk more about that in the future but yeah i hop on their you know whatever you wanna do a buck a there's something if you find this entertaining that would be helpful for us where you know you keep get all hell's yup but yeah we wanna do this for a long time we have fun with it a you know for the most part except when the cubs and brewers both suck at the same time then it's a little bit commiserating but anyway yeah i think that pretty much wraps it up.

"Which would start now before yesterday's outing by you Darvish. The cubs starters have been very very good in three straight games. Cantata seven innings. No run six seven strikeouts. Hamels seven innings. No runs. Three hits eight straight outs. Hendrick seven innings. No runs three heads and eleven strikeouts. As a matter of fact, the runs the Darvish gave up in the first inning yesterday. Were the first runs give it up by a cubs starter since you Darvish last Monday this past Monday, he gave up runs to. Miami. So you look at it cantata pitch Tuesday. Okay. So that's Tuesday. He pitches, then there's a Wednesday. There's off day Thursday. That's today's that Hendrix pitches on Friday that's three days rest, then you had Darvish pitch yesterday. That's four days rest Jose Catanha should be pitching today. But they've decided to throw Tyler chat would and move it around. Now, you don't need to move around. You could have had cantata go today and then hamels Hendricks and Darvish against the dodgers. Resident we maybe we don't want to have Darvish pitch against, you know, his former team in the dodgers are hitting the ball. And maybe the fragile or they didn't say this. I'm saying, maybe the fragile you Darvish shouldn't go against his his old team know what you do you throw cantata against their own ah to get a win because of cantata who's pitching really well, his bolt of his last two outings. Why? Why would you make this change and? Let's be honest. You have a better chance of beating Arizona than you. Do the dodgers no matter who's pitching. So why not throw your better pitcher get the two out of three? I know the Meatloaf winds is not what feel wants to hear. I know. The cub fans don't wanna hear just two out of three. But when you split the first two you wanna get the third victory. What you feel a lot better with Jose Catanha on the hill today as opposed to Darvish don't worry about Darvish going against the dodgers. It's amazing that you have to worry about the psyche of your starting pitcher that he may not be able to go out there. And you know, it's going to be tough for him to pitching his teammates. He played for two years ago. That's ridiculous. You shouldn't have to deal with Tyler chat with out there. Now Tyler goes out gives you a good five innings and your bullpen steps up. And by the way, the bullpen has been really good a one eighty over the last eleven games see shack five consecutive scoreless outings Kessler with just one hit allowed in the last four outings. That's all good. You can go to the bullpen. Maybe Tyler chat with can get it for you. But what would you bet at would you Qatada pitching while against Arizona or chat would pitching well against their Zona. It'll be a day where you'll sit and enjoy and at the end of the day, you'll say well, the cub scout away with one would pitch well or the cubs screwed up and had it should hey cantata on the hill against an Amazon a- offense. So we'll see what happens with that later on today. John Lester through simulated game yesterday. That was the good news coming from Wrigley field. Then that's good news. Brendan moro. I had a slight setback in his rehab, and he is going to be shut down temporarily. Well, that's never good thing. You're shutting down your guy that was supposed to be your closer. And it rolls on it continues. The three moves that the oh made last year ring in moral and chat wooden Darvish just not working so far so more. Who knows when he will pitch for the cubs this year if you will pitch for the cubs. So the cubs are not in dire straits they're nine and ten they need to get Kris Bryant hitting the ball because he's definitely not hitting the ball. As of yet. He is not he doesn't seem to be concerned. He's got a two thirty nine average three forty nine vase a three eighty slug. He's got one Homer this year hit that opening day has not hit one SIDS. So he is not homered in the last eighteen games. So we'll see what happens later on today. Cubs and the Zona. Diamondbacks out at the friendly confines. Robbie Ray Tyler chat would going at it. Again. Remember, this was a Jose cantata scheduled. He should've started today. He should be starting. He sitting out there waiting, and then believe it or not the cubs have day off on Monday. So Qatada will get even another day rest, which probably isn't good for your starters to have that many days off. But hey, who am I I'm just a talk show guy? I don't know all the analytics, I don't know all the stats that the cubs have. And I don't know how they have to massage. The psyche of one you Darvish so we'll see what happens didn't work. Great for you. Yesterday. Didn't give up a lot of runs a lot of pictures. Give three and five innings and still get victory. They didn't do that yesterday. Dallas go to the white sex. We'll get the bad flips in the second the last time the whites actor of the field was Friday night and some good things happen for the White Sox in this game, including his..

"Point moral chat. Would Darvish does not mean that the owner has to just say here's a blank check. Go spend another several hundred million dollars on contracts. No guy's got to play better. A B. This one nine thousand five games last year with very little out of Bryant Darvish. Moral chat would. So guess what? Guys need to play better got to play better. I'm gonna take very balanced approach to this. Because the cubs are one in three or four games in to be saying that the team has broken right broken right now. It'd be a little bit ridiculous. I will say this losing games away. They did over the weekend. That was kind of expected we had questions about the starting rotation because of the age of the pitchers. We also all knew that the bullpen was not fixed this off season because they didn't go out and release spend the money they needed to out of quality arm. So anything that happens with the cubs organization involved with the pitching staff, I understand the loss yesterday, though was mind blowing to me you've got Amazon Anthony Rizzo. You've got an error on hobby bias you've got an error on Kris Bryant those three are quality infielders their four games into the season in their head isn't into the game. Perhaps why is that? Automatically mean, their head isn't it if they make an air there. It's physical. Okay. That that was a lot of errors in my opinion one era game to game. I get it would basically the majority of your infield has an error including Kyle Hendricks come on cap. Maybe the problem isn't THEO Epstein, maybe the problem isn't Joe Joe, Tom Ricketts. Maybe the problem is that the players are tuning out. Joe Matic, maybe feel knew what he was doing when he didn't give bat in the contract extension. And he sees that the clubhouse perhaps is it following the leader like they should be. Yeah. I think it's we wait to early. They had a bad game. Look. Right. Three bad games in a row. The Red Sox are one and four the defending world champs with a payroll of two hundred and forty million one in four and they went to Oakland last night. And I should have listened to my partner on television. We're looking at the scores. And I said Ernie late games to watch when I get home because I got to unwind. Oakland and the Red Sox. And he said he said kid, I don't gamble. Put all your money on Oakland. They're going to pound the Red Sox from like, really Oakland isn't a very good starting pitching. Guess what? Seven nothing Oakland beat the Boston. Didn't listen to them? So they're one in four the Yankees have half their good players on the D are the what do they call it? Now the aisle the.
