"APP and Siriusxm Channel Eighty, and of course, on your smart speakers I'm Jason Fitz Max having some Wifi issues. He's out today Jordan Cornet by buddy coming in, and you made a long drive got here able to hang out. But by the way I was told you're going to be here three o'clock. came. Kind of lolly gagging three away I'm just wondering. How you feel about that right now. Attorney Mike got to turn on. I'm. Doing the. Are you hear me I Gotcha I gotcha. I'm not in the shape by used to be. It's I mean I did the best I could I literally sprinted across campus to be here I'm not good enough for you and your wife are hosting together the first ever husband wife team on Sundays and which by the way is incredible because you're both amazing people now that I've said something particularly nice. About it down here. So it's coming right now I'm just word like I'm worried about until they D do you get too hot take because you did you work with Sarah Spain who I work now in Spain and bits per seven to nine pm Eastern you you worked with Sarah. So sometimes, radio can get heated right and you do a lot of this on radio you can't see it but. I agree just do. Luckily enough I work with worked with a woman who was incredibly knowledgeable at right way more than I ever was but now I'm working with my wife who's equally as right as Sarah Spain was. So I know how to be a good company Coho side well, it's an important question because you and iron fantasy league together and we will be taking each other on. So we got to get a little bit of insight on this by the way Max Kellerman show presented by progressive insurance. WE'RE GONNA head over to the Shell Pennzoil Performance Line Casey, joyner joins us there and KC are fantasy. Expert we need the guidance Jordan and I, are competing. So these questions are going to be all over the place really against each other we appreciate your time and your insight, my friend thanks for hanging out with the. So let's start with a name was just brought up by Max Kellerman on why he's so hot on the chiefs this year, and that would be Clyde Edwards there. What do you expect? We always hear about rookie running backs and how there's so much nuance to the game they have to pick up. So as a fantasy expert, what do you realistically expect from Clyde Edwards earlier this year? I expected they're gonNA use LHOTA Darrow Williams Dr Williams had nearly as many offense snaps last year as McCoy or Damian. Williams. So he is. He wasn't pretty central part of their offense last season and I agree with you that it sounds like there is going to be part of a probably a platoon setup. So I, don't think he's going to be not in the contest. They're just GonNa put a situations where he can excel if that's the case. Daryl Williams should be a pretty good play. This Week I've got them listed as at least a flex option in my starts at charts, and he's only rostered in eighteen point nine percent of has been bandaged league's right now. So if somebody wants to get it on tonight's high scoring game, that's a great place to get in we're having technical difficulties is Jordan's having some issues here trying to hear you so I'm just GonNa. Ask you another one while we get it all worked out Casey we appreciate you by the way you can follow him at KC Joyner, T. F. S. so. One, other question and really this is selfish because I drafted and but people seem to be high on vk map. The seahawks I drafted him was brilliant or am I just really smart he's GonNa. Be hit or miss just because it's such a one centric offense the other ones the ball more than any other team except for maybe Baltimore and even with the account for game scripts, they're just that run heavy of a team having said that I've got. A match ranking system and according to that system. Atlanta's the most favourable pass defense matchup in the league this week. So Seattle's got a fantastic match up there, and because of that because metcalf has the best individual matches among the Seattle wide receivers I've got them rank night them I start chart. So he's usually considered a wide receiver three or flex candidate, but I think he's going to be a wide receiver one this week he's definitely getting a Lotta guys. We're talking to the fantasy the sorry. The football scientists we're working a lot of different issues are going on at once the Max Kellerman show Jason, Fitz Jordan Cornet informatics trying to get some technical difficulties worked out here with Jordan so I'll just stick with the again. So I'm curious from the quarterback standpoint when you start to look at guys that you think might take a big jump is there anybody that stands out to you that maybe were under appreciating? Guy Takes I. Don't know where Cam Newton fits on that because there are people who are sold. He's going to run the ball as much as he didn't Carolina and it wouldn't surprise. Of course if it does that with them having said that they don't want him to get hit as often as you get hit and Carolina. So He may be that guy I've got him a guy who was blue rated upside I'm my system or blue is an elite upside. Great. So he's he's there that this week somebody I I'm really if I, think Ben Rothlisberger. He's through so often in twenty, eight, ten in the steelers usually when they have a couple of years like that, usually they'll throw the ball ton and then they'll get back to their ground game I think they're going to get back to the ground game some this year but his elbow looks great Klay poll could be an impact rookie deontay. Johnson. Looks Great Smith Schuster is going to be motivated to try and get a contract that got eric run I keep adding those factors to get on keep wondering do I have Rothlisberger under via because? I had him on like the right on the border of QB..

"No other than Cohen ups. Okay to Rick Owen Yeah Van Jefferson for the rams. I'm sorry deep. I would say not necessarily draftable but I would say keep an eye. Okay Daryl Williams apparently could split carries with Clyde, zero in week one against the Texans. But. You're not going to start him under the under the potential of maybe like. The problem in the end is that Darrow Williams's just not at all special. He's literally just like A. Another guy he's a Carlos Hyde shaped. Player in the chiefs uniform like he's he's fine. It's just I don't know that you need to draft 'em because if if push comes to shove and there's no Edwards Hilar- anymore. It's GonNa be him and a bunch of other guys. It's not. They're not just going to go. Okay Daryl go they're going to give it to a bunch of so so you think Brasileira is going to have. A bigger share of the work than let's rewind a year ago or Damian Williams in the Shawn McCoy or splitting you think it's going to be more of a Brazilian shit. I don't know I don't think we know. But I think. Like I'm not taking him in the first round. I don't have them run as a first round pick even NPR but I get why people are and I think. If you are going to adhere to the logic that says there's a chance that the work here's around somebody. He's the only one that could go around. So I don't mind that logic just again, sight unseen that sort of player. He's not Zeke he's not Barclays not someone you just need to immediately. Hundred percent believe in because he can do everything like Edwards can't do everything he not big enough to do everything. So I wouldn't take him in the first round but and I can't I'm not going to be the one that bricks game flow or The work share like I. Just don't think we're good at that. So I would prefer to stick to. It's a great offense that's not going away. He himself does some things that that offense offenses prize really really super well, and that's awesome and that's why he should be a top least twenty pick. But I can't tell you week one that means nineteen touches for Edwards, layer and thirteen for Daryl Williams. I. Don't think we know that one more sleep I wanNA throughout out at you Marquis Valdez Scheduling and I've gotten some some emails some tweets saying, Hey, I know you are in on Allen Lazard. But there's envious buzz here. What do you make of that? Would be one thing if he could play he's can't. Play. So I think the Lazard love that that's out there. If such as as as himself sleeper really almost is default because you can't find another player who can play on that roster lazard himself. The keys tall guy who doesn't run all that well, and Aaron Rodgers quote, unquote likes him. I think getting Aaron Rodgers is like at this point is is about not screwing up and at least lazard has screwed up an envious lost job last year by scoring up he got yelled at on national TV maybe more than any other player in the league last year. So. Who So okay. Who are some of your breakouts high you give us some sleepers who are some of the more high end guys that you're targeting. I don't know dude named some like I'll take anybody at the right price. So. So cortlandt Sutton I like a ton and would add his again. It's always about the price always but the ADP right. So I can't tell you I always get that guy because it depends on the price, but I would take sutton than his average draft position. I'm taking on bell earlier than average opposition even though I have misgivings. But if he is being treated as what what you have as rb twenty, seven something like that I don't have rankings we'll tell you wish no, I'm saying the the platform. like our ADP. Yeah. I'll let you now I I would say that we are more like round five I think at this point for Levy on bell. And so I think that translates to outside the top twenty I. think it actually translates pretty close to exactly where he finished last year. And Say I don't know if you want me to get off on the levy on belt. Of course, he shouldn't be the first round pick anymore. It's Balu crispy stupid because we know all these risk factors but everything went wrong last year. And he's still figure finished at whatever let's say what the number as rb twenty, whatever it was, and that's exactly what the market has volume this year that means you're you're baking in exactly zero range of possible outcomes any better than last year, which seems crazy to me. They did get a brand new offensive line they do. It is just a new year. The NFL does change from year to year fall into the aggregate category because Lebanon Bell was kind of a stiff last year he totally was a lot faster season. So Npr League, you could start having to be like, okay well, I have a high floor but disastrous season. Yeah, it was it was one. Of the worst high usage running back seasons of the last decade it was terrible but do you think he's cooked well, I. But I think I think Kerry is go down because I think Frank Gore for summary Playing the game you're playing the game that I don't WanNa play, which is I I know Adam Gates puppet master, and I know exactly what strings is going to pull unless fact as we don't if bell comes out and is awesome be and I know people are going to tell me because guys watching them run against air that Libyan belts had quote unquote a bad camp like that means something I don't know all these things could be dangerous signs but. The my point is he's being valued exactly where he finished last year a bad season. With no range of possible outcomes for a better season. So I, I'll put it this way at least I, view it that way, and so philosophically, what I would like to do is draft players who are being valued at the bottom end of their range of possible outcomes. I think it's hard to argue that bell. Has Much lower possible outcome than where he's being drafted. Okay. So he's going. On our website thirty seventh now, that might be dropping because the the reports lately. So that's a thirty that's. That's that's higher than most that's overall. That's that is higher than most places right Everybody in CBS smart that's the problem now. Value he's that's too high thirties because here's the other Judas Mr Allen Adam Feeling Cooper Cup Mike Evans and Zach Ertz. Amari. Cooper. Calvin. There's so many wide receivers I. I? Think. A lot of US rather have at that point. So I, it's not like previously. It's not like I hate where he's going amongst running backs just. I'm not passing up on wide receivers that have the chance to be elite to.

"For for I, there's a mentality out there that just goes there's not enough targets to go round and the number two zero for the saints always winds up suffering and I'm done with trick on Smith and I'm done with Ted Ginn and all I can say is, yeah that's because they're trick wants with and Ted Ginn like three years not having a good number two receiver, their manuals anders is terrific player. And isn't going to get Michael Thomas level targets but I'm GONNA I think if the saints are as good as we expect if they are a wagon offensively, he is going to partake to say nothing of the idea that I love him in the Red Zone. He's such a good close quarters phone booth kind of player when Michael Thomas is getting all this attention and other people are getting all this attention sanders, scores, touchdowns in the red zone Just you know again, I'm talking not as a fantasy order to start but just like as a sleeper sort of mid round. Sure. Did you say Jared Goff? Sleepers. Okay. No Sir Apocalypse or you don't like Jared Goff. Not at all I love Jared Goff. We like jared going great later. Do you like cup and woods because the thing is I don't know how however. Yeah. So I looked at the five years remember the exact stat, but I'll ballpark it lasts five years. Every quarterback that had to wide receivers finished in the top twenty. NPR or maybe it was the top sixteen because that's where Robert Woods was. Jared Goff finished lower than every other quarterback including like daycare car when he had Croup Cooper and crabtree jared Goff. Last year was something like Cuba sixteen that was the worst finish of any quarterback in the last five years that had two receivers that were that successful in Pr Leagues. So my fate take is like he just had a low touchdown rate with very low. And we'd like woods I feel like golf is destined to be a reliable a reliable starter that you take late in your draft. I. So I agree about the touchdown luck, there's there was there was todd Gurley pro touchdown luck and Robert Woods anti touchdown. Look. That is a very fair fair point. Jared. Goff is kirk cousins on slightly better like he's he. You know they're going to the problem with players like that is that they can look good in the aggregate but they're going to be games where they need it and they get pressure and they get off schedule and they will murder your fantasy team and just not good enough in my opinion certainly happened with golf last year against great opponents and golf is we know the book on Him. If he has a good offensive line, he's probably GONNA put up huge numbers. He's terrible when he's under pressure. So some yeah, and you're right you know you make good points. I like a couple of things you've said so far we're rather projecting players. In targets and all those things it's. True and and the whole thing and I go I a big believer in this the whole he's good on an aggregate level, but looking at end of season stats is. Sometimes very telling sometimes very deceiving. And some it's also it's difficult to make that case. Sometimes, people don't want to hear that. But yeah, I mean that's welcome to my career. Dude Song Time. I mean, Cooper is the best example of that from last year Amari Cooper wildwood a season look at those numbers. Fantastic. What receiver? What was he? Six Nine I can't remember. He was anybody who had Mario. Cooper team last year wanted to jump off a bridge like it was gross. It was you know he's he's got an amazing match up and he and then in the second. Quarter hobbling around and has one catch, and then the next week he's got a terrible matchup plus he's been banged up so he can't do anything and he goes out against a good defense that's nine for one, hundred and sixty like the ride matters man the ride matters for sure I Adam as seventh in non Pierre Eleventh in last year seventy, nine catches, not not a huge total. All right. So I want to ask you about some sleepers that our listeners have brought up. We just kind of fire through these. Cordell. Patterson. Or any other bears running back for the first week or two any interest? No other than Cohen ups. Okay. To Rick Yeah Van Jefferson for the rams. I'm super deep. I would say not necessarily draftable but I would say keep an eye. Okay Daryl Williams apparently could split carries with Clyde zero in week one against the Texans. A bigger share of the work than let's rewind a year ago or Damian. Williams. And the Shawn McCoy splitting you think it's going to be more of a Edwards dealership. I don't know I. Don't think we know. But I think. Like I'm not taking him in the first round I don't have them run as a first round pick even NPR but I get why people are and I think. If you are going to adhere to the logic that says, there's a chance that the work coheres around somebody. He's the only one that could go around. So I don't mind that logic just again, sight unseen that sort of player he's not Zeke he's not Barclays not someone you just need to immediately. "Shoes. I just yeah I two into is right for them and every respect aspect and wools I I'm not ruling out them getting much better. We've talked a lot about how good the roster is but I'm GonNa wait and see on that. I'd rather just inexplicably hype the titans lighten than do a charter discussion. It's totally fine all right. Let's get to take shop. I want to talk about a player on another two to team that I've just been blown away so for this year. I think that Shack Barrett based on his salary and the production he's had so far. This season has had the best the first month of any free agent I've ever seen so. Let's talk about the best free agents in history drew brees different coversation breeze raise being one of them. Okay we do that so you had a you had an argument against that go ahead check. Barrett for in his first month has been better than drew brees was in his first month as the saints quarterback in four games. Two Games re threw for one hundred seventy yards one hundred ninety one yards two games with three fifty and a couple of scores excellent but Shaq Barrett has legitimately be the best player on the field for four straight games for the bucks drew. brees is the greatest free Asian signing of all time. That's not up for debate. This is Reggie White Person Month I drew brees is a free agent settled. I agree. I'm just I'm just throwing throwing out more. I mean first of all I think what about Peyton manning he what he was yeah. I can't listen a traitor phrase inside and drew brees. I is a better phrase inside than paid man. Well here in this regard in that drew brees has been here for thirteen fourteen. That's exactly right going to be there for more years. It's a franchise altering thing especially when you consider what the franchise going through when he indebted early days there known in Enduro. Oh Yeah Okay Yeah. I thought he there's of Hugh He. He was a franchise changing figure. He was a transformative figure. peyton manning was not that he came one super bowls won. A Super Bowl sets records. It was great. No one regrets Peyton. Manning signings probably in the top three of best frazier signings ever. I'm just I I am with you. Drew brees as was was a better signing than Peyton manning the paint manning start in Denver. He didn't have like the super hot start with the Broncos they were too into he averaged less than seven yards per attempt in two of those. Games in two thousand twelve twenty thirteen obviously comes out gangbusters. It's ridiculous the whole year but Shaq Barrett. I went back and watched all of his sachs this morning because sometimes sack numbers can be a little bit misleading. They they're cheap. They come late and downs all the stuff. There is nothing cheap about how good he's been so far this year. He has more sex than ten teams in that game against the rams last week. He legitimately created three turnovers. He had a hit that led to a interception he forced a fumble that the number consumer turn for a touchdown and he had his own pick the week before against the giants. He caused two fumbles that were recovered and he had a third heard one. That was an inch away from being a fumble that overturned. It's hard to affect a game more than this guy has over the first month of the season he pretty much won that game for the Bucks Against Carolina by destroying Darrow Williams for the entire game. He's the fastest player his sack total in the history of football and and they are not cheap sex. The Guy has been absolutely incredible house. Let's look twenty twenty when he joins a bears. I mean it's he's going to get much quicker. I mean it's it's not going to be close. We're going to forget check Barrett ever existed. Take shop thing about this one for a while. I I had Jay Jay Gruden idea and Andy Dalton idea and now. I just decided to make the same idea. Let's that's reunite Jay gruden Andy Dalton. Let's do it well. Let's recapture the magic of Twenty fifteen by the way it was twenty twenty thirty. I know that because inexplicably Jay Gruden has been the coach of the Redskins for six years yes. Why did you forget that sometimes yeah what back when I was going. I'm writing by Andy Dalton for tomorrow for on the RINGER DOT COM so I've been doing a lot of deep. Andy Dalton Dives over the last twenty four hours and I also forgot which which years which offensive coordinators were there and it's shocking to me that it was six years ago. The Jay Gruden was office coordinator for the Bengals. It's nuts eight is honestly the at football miracle that Jay Gruden made at six years like I I cannot. I feel like he's been there. Two Years Dalton got two of his Offensive Coordinator's head coaching jobs in the span of three seasons. I it's amazing and I also think it's also equally amazing that Jay Gruden took over for Mike Shanahan. Mike Shanahan era in Washington feels like it was fifty years ago. Also the most people have written about this Gregg Bishop did a good story about it. That was ever this summer. The fact that Matt Leflore Sean mcvay and Shanahan were on the same staff with Mike Shanahan in two thousand thousand twelve with the redskins twenty twenty five people can write the same store at this current Washington staff. You don't think so no Greg Gerski. Let's get it back so the last time they were together. They were six in the NFL points. Two thousand thirteen is obviously is a magic there but most importantly jailed jailed thirty three touchdowns. Jay Gruden is well on his way to getting fired Andy Dalton. Maybe there needs to be changed. Their actually know what's going on with the bengals right now are are they in. Are they going to tank are they are tanking. I'd are they going to tank. They're accidental thinking thinking. They're going to get a second so let's if your crappy happy team. Let's just reunite. These guys offensive coordinator quarterbacks coach is Jay Gruden becoming such a bad coach head coach he he has to do that. I'm going to be a position coach thing for a year. I don't think so I know sir. GRUDEN absolutely should offense coordinator job is but it shouldn't go to Oakland 'cause any can't and his brother is obviously the push our there yeah. Where where are we putting? We're putting Jay Gruden putting any with them. It's hard to predict who's going to get fired heard this off season but I don't know I'm looking. I'm looking through the teams right now. I'm trying to think about who it might be so obviously you wouldn't want him back. In Cincinnati Kazak Zac Taylor. That's just not not a fit so she calls plays and consummate mcvay tree. We'll just I don't care what XFL I don't give a shit. We'll just reunite them. it's difficult because all the teams that are bad or they think could fire their coaches. They're not the problem is they're not an Andy Dalton away. Those teams are not in Andy Dalton away and you. You don't need to go for the bears or something that we've talked about this. We had be fine with me. Matinee is going to be the play caller for the better sex. I'm aware of that well. You never know that's offense. I I feel pretty good. I was just to dig a dig at you all right. Let's let's bring it back. Jay Gruden Andy Dalton Twenty twenty. Let's ride. We'll will find a way to make it happen. Somehow we can find a way to make it happen and now it's time for the state farm.

"One. I thought about it a little bit. I was GONNA say Sammy Watkins as well but since you took that I got an audible here man this is tough I I'm trying to think of the person then who would probably be most likely to get hit by Alexis or most likely vision Lada Real and speaks these days on no no no no no. It's not brilliant. It's not be brilliant because he's not the worst but it man i. I don't know Sammy Watkins is GonNa be my for the exact same reason because you want more you want more of him on the field also Patrick mahomes because we don't Petra miles we want. We want more Patrick Mahomes homes fair enough oh you S._A._S.. Who will be this year's pirker anger as in the surprise piece that beach flips for someone else surprise? We've talked about a lot of gas. Give us a little little Allah field. Little Outta left field because camera being has been my guy that I I've been speaking on for quite some time. Little Bit Outta left field. Let's talk wide receivers all the sudden and with tyreek Hill back in the mix. There's a lot of wide receivers on this squad. I think that maybe and I do think that demarcus Robinson should be wide receiver three to start the season but I think if they think that Byron pringles coming along if Miekel Hartman learning a little quicker than they expected those guys are going to be under contract through next year as well you can move on from demarcus Robinson. Maybe collect an asset there. I know we've personally talked about him a little bit in chat I think can't maybe even brought him up initially but you start thinking about it and he's a guy that does have value in this offense but if the right trade it came along. I think you could move him. We'll stay on offense but Carlos Hide. You see you see Darrow Williams getting some run. He's looking good. You like what you're seeing. Darwin Thompson someone goes down and and and they need someone goes down for someone they need a quality running back to throw into the mix Carlos high were to make a lot of sense to me for a team to be interested in acquiring chief still lose a lot of dead bunny if they are to move on from a guy like Carlos chiefs sluts asks what is the plan with the almost thirty million dollars leftover and cap space well. I think what you're going to see. There's going to be some extensions this off season and I think tyreek hill is potentially the I guy to catch that and I don't know this for certain but I would guess maybe the chiefs one structure it in such a way that they can get out of it if they need to. If there is another incident of a personal conduct turn you know more things like that or maybe even a clause in there about something that you know behaviors or anything like that I get that he's been cleared of wrongdoing zero game suspension and all of that but they might hedge a little bit and try and make get to where the signing bonus isn't spread out over multiple years instead guaranteeing more year to year in a way that they can just kinda get out after a certain year so tired killed still get paid the same amount of money just wouldn't be the a massive upfront signing bonus that could create more dead money going forward. I think that that's what they're planning to use it forward and then just kind of role over the rest shout out to his dirt. This who's on the livestream right now. I forgot who that was because he's been missing for like two months. Give me honestly like what they're going to do it. The thirty million dollars cap space. I don't think they have a ton of plans for yeah. Maybe the Chris Jones extension. Yeah maybe the tyreek Hill extension but I think they had this money earmarked for other things like Earl Thomas Making twelve million dollars on a one year deal things like that they I think they're playing just fell through Ronald Darby rb..

"I think he's you can have a little bit too much time share to really stack those touchdowns out. And I, I mean, we were asked us in another question, but we, we've kinda dress this before we do think that tyreek hill, probably playing the back half of the season for the chief, so DeMarcus Robinson's. Yeah. At minimum DeMarcus Robinson's time as wide receiver to will be short Damian Williams three and a half games with a hundred plus rushing yards as that's good line. That's really good line over. Who over without rushing think he stays. You're running back one, though. And I don't know who's really gonna push him for enough carries. He has the ability to break off Shawn plays like twenty fifty yards and you just get a couple of those in good. That's a good line. It is. But I'm gonna go with over. I think he's gonna get enough carries to be the clearcut number one in push that number. I you know what? I not only my going to say that he's going to be over. I think it's going to be five. I think he is going to have ten games with over one hundred ole purpose yards. That's bold quick follow up. I has the second lowest totally out of the running back room. I think it's going to be Darwin. I think it is going to be Darwin. I think I think Carlos Hyde is going to get rips. I think he's going to be in there for his pass catching ability. But I think these guys are two talented. So I. And we'll get another one here in just a second about that room. So for those of you that are on the stream with us, we are doing a livestream right now. If you are not, if you're listening to the podcast, we are looking forward to doing more of these live video streams throughout the week, you know, at kinda interact with you guys a little bit more. But for those of you that are in the stream right now submit some questions, we're gonna take a couple more here in the mall. Get you guys a stream question. So at David, my seven if feels like there's a huge amount of running backs and wide receivers currently on the roster. Who do you predict makes the cuts and remains on the team for opening day aches? This is tough. I think I know I know I should've as well what we're doing this off the top of our domes. I think that Damian Williams is making the team. I think that Carlos Hyde is making the team. I think the Darwin Thompson is making the team running back, I think that they are going to keep one more non fullback on this team too, though. Right sherman. Yeah. Sherman's definitely making the day tobe loves him way too much. He's definitely making the team. So I think that they're going to try and hang onto James Williams. I think they'll keep him on the roster. Even though Darrow Williams has the potential to be a guy. I think that they're going to try and go with James Williams. What do you think about running back met? I think that's the right. Five. I think if you keep Carlos Hyde, you give yourself a second runner between the tackles, never Damian Williams is perfect between the tackles. But he's more than capable of doing it Carl. Hyde kinda gives you talk about this with Daryl wins, you need somebody else. Take between the tackles kind of power runs. If you're keeping hide which agree with you that they will they have got to be a leader in that room. There has to be a guy that's really good in pass protection that homes. You just have to have some reps where you can put him out there. So give me. Hi this kind of that backup between the tackles runner, Darwin's, I think, is a lock. They seem to really like him. I'm with Schuermann. I think James Williams has sneaky slot wide receiver gadget. Play type upside runs real routes. He doesn't run just swings. Texas routes. He can real routes..

"Throughout the course of the season lines change all the time. There's just sort of shaking the lineup. Whether it's injuries, whatever it is. I think so running here's NHL players this going your new line, and and get to know get to know, your linemates, and and sort of get the chemistry going cook. As you can. And we did a good job in practice. And we'll keep keep getting better. I Skinner broken up at practice yesterday. Jeff Skinner who you heard from with was with Casey middle stat. And Jason palm and Ville at practice and Jack ICU was centering aligned with Connor sharing. Kyle okposo the sabers tinkered with defensive pairings tweet a couple of things on the power play units as well. We've got the whole rundown in an article for Paul Hamilton WJR five fifty dot com. It's a seven o'clock game against Minnesota tonight. You can hear it on WJR beginning at six with the pre game show C J Smith was recalled from Rochester. We think he's gonna play tonight. In other news, the Super Bowl had an average of ninety eight million viewers. It is the lowest total since two thousand seven and the rating in New Orleans was half of what the average rating usual banner New Orleans where bourbon street like British quarter in the in the superhero Superdome. Oh says we didn't watch Super Bowl fifty three. They didn't half the normal the normal rating for that city UB drops to twenty third in the AP poll, and those are the headlines that you need to know about eight thousand three oh five fifty to join us. We've been talking some hockey. But the good thing about football. We now are officially in the off season the season is over. And now we can really dive into of course, the draft. Combine is later this month. And then the league year opens up in March free agency contact period signing period in the bills have a gazillion dollars of cap space on that note, we're going to the west her hotline we are joined by field Yates from ESPN to talk about some of the guys out there. Maybe might be interesting for the bills to go after fielded Sal Howard and Jeremy good morning. First of all, thanks for coming on our show today. Good morning guys. Always appreciate appreciate the opportunity to be on with you. And I know that everybody in buffalo of excited for the off season. Just because we finally get to turn the page and get back to what I think in some ways actually almost as fun as the season the transaction season for football. When we see a lot of names and faces changing places a lot of money being spent in of course, a lot of time preparing for the always important NFL draft. Well, we're excited because we have a truckload of the money to spend in a lot of holes. Spend a lot of somebody else's money. Yeah. Don't you? Love that nice to have somebody else's money to spend, you know, unprepared. On my wedding this summer right now and a little bit different. Like you can't go overboard when it's your father in law feature father-in-law's money. You're you gotta spend it responsibly, but irresponsibly spending someone else's money is always good business to be in. That said I've never purchased a tackle or guard before. I I. I don't know what the market's gonna live. Well, I'll tell you what if you're any good if the opposite tackle guard that had good the good news is that going to be a very robust market as we've seen for years guys. It's crazy. I mean a few years ago there used to be a saying and scouting circles and a guard the guard is a guard. Right. You can find when you could drive one in the third round. You could find a guy on the street could find a guy must before training camp. He could be your starter for the season. Now, we've got players like Jack Martin making fourteen million dollars a year and resetting the market Andrew norwell last year. The Jaguars had so many other need specifically finding some more skill guys at least amongst the wide receiver position. And they spend thirteen point five million dollars a year on Andrew norwell to what offensive line that feels like know an eternity ago, but at just basically dominated the patriots and the Steelers and building successive week in the playoffs. But the NFL certainly as a priority right now on these offensive linemen, and guys that are take volt ready made starters is funny. I mean, the bills need maybe two or three starters on the offense. It's of line. And you said the guard we sat here a few years ago. Jerry had this discussion that no matter how much we liked Angela Vitry. I wasn't gonna pay him what the falcons ended up paying him. Because I just don't believe you pay that to a garden. Of course, the markets increased having said that let me ask you about. In terms of the key free agents out there that the Bill should be looking at field. I think you'll always hear anybody from Carolina come up in the discussion because of the connections, so Darrow Williams. What about that? And what kind of money are we talking about to try and get a guy like that? Yeah. Yeah. Interesting year for Daryl Williams writing to get hurt early. Seems like you might miss the entire season knee issue. And you're thinking to yourself this guy here three hundred pounds like in the issue hurts a guy like us. It's sort of more average just an average Joe. And then you've got offense of linemen that are carrying all this and having a move around and and and putting their lives on the line every single play, but Daryl Williams provided team so comfortable with where he is at the may help standpoint is going to be one of the most expensive free-agent offensive lineman. They stop season. It's not just that he has become a quality player and not just an offensive lineman are now being coveted more and more. But think about how the market for right tackles has evolved. There used to be a time where a left tackle. And right tackle were treated almost like they played a different sport, right left. Tackles got paid all this money. Right. Tackles were more plug and play. So in the same way, the guard position has evolved, Daryl Williams, and right tackles, if all of a sudden become far more attractive come on. Now, the market still has. Exploded, you see left tackles making twelve thirteen million dollars fifty million dollars per seat at the very top of the market for right tackles it still somewhere north. I'm sorry somewhere south of ten million dollars. You got guys making nine million dollars per year. Whether it's a Rick Wagner in Detroit, for example, this making excellent money there, and we'll see guys get paid very good money. But you're still seeing other players. I believe the all pro selections this year. I think it was Mitchell Schwartz may have been the first second team all pro Kansas City, and he was like a six million dollar per year. Right tackle, which I still think that there is some value to be had right talkable Williams could be a guy that I could see making eight million dollars. And of course, as you mentioned, if you have any level of connection to Carolina during other determinant or Brandon being time there, you're going to be on the bills are especially when you guys set whatever they cap number officially whether it's eighty three or eighty five million dollars. It's plenty of money to afford a lot of players what about tackles definitely a need. Let me ask you about center because they signed Russell boat. Dine last year. And he he was okay. And then he gets injured Ryan gray steps in. He didn't play. So well, he's a free agent. What's the center market like what kind of options are out there? And how critical do you think is that position on the line? It's an interesting one for a couple of reasons because I think that sometimes with centers. I don't say the talent does not matter. But I think that can sometimes be a huge part of it and was centers there is something to be said for reliability that I know that NFL teams latch onto more than others. I use as an example because when he was in Cincinnati. Played started every single game. I know the Bengals fans will constantly saying like why can't we find somebody better? Well, part of it was that you could count on him and offense lineman. I spent enough time talking to a lot of these offensive line coaches that will tell you that. I would rather have a player that I know is going to be, you know, even if it's b minus player on every single snap. I will take that over a guy who wants that might be a and the next nap might be a seat. So in terms of free agents for the bills at the surf spot like there's some guys that are going to be available that might peak some some level of interest around the NFL you, but I think the book seen teams have found like you can maybe sort of shop at the middle market at center or draft the guy who could become a really good player for you. I think the most recent sort of notable example that I always think of is Ben Jones who got signed by the titans if you off seasons the guy he's going into his final year of his four year contract. Now, he's been basically every down player for them. And he's been a player that in at the time people are wondering like did they just get marginally better build there might be some value there this off season actually in the draft spoke to Jim now you of course, now oversees the senior bowl, I think he felt like this offensive line class was going to be one that people cutting grew like more and more as we got closer to the end of April. Let me ask you about Rx as long as we're spending money receivers the bills really need to upgrade their receiving corps. They don't have a clear number one here. Is there? Anybody in the free agent market, by the way, assuming you can convince that guy to come to a bottom five offense that has a young unproven quarterback. Is there anybody in the free agent market who could step in and be the leader of this group. You know, it's a really really interesting year for wide receivers and free agency. I think the, you know, the top names, I guess would be, you know, speaking back to the Carolina can can, you know, Devin funchess former second round pick out of Michigan. But Devin funchess healthy scratching week seventeen. Like, he's. Going catch. Listen games late in the season. So I don't funchess's market is going to be a massive one. I think he's the kind of guy it sort of reminds me of a one year deal kind of like worth Tyrrell prior ended up with the jets to begin last off season. Obviously had a roundabout year once things got going from there. But you know, Devon punches golden takes Jamison Crowder. Adam Humphreys, actually as a chance the bucks wide receiver has a chance to be up for the less third wide receiver that office, but those left millions sort sorta accolades has a chance to be made me the most prolific wide receiver available this off season. Now the question would be how far do you extend? If you're a team for a player that does most of it damage or did most of the damage from the slot. I think for the bills there's sort of this fine balance because we know that we've seen a lot of players that have first round picks over the past three to four years at wide receiver that have taken either. A long time to get acclimated or just never got acclimated at least the level you're expecting out of a first round pick. But there's not a great supply of White House available this off season in free agency. So that might be a bit of a buyer, beware. You into my opinion on the wide receiver market who do you think of tyrel Williams? Williams. I'm glad you mentioned that name..

"If girly has competition not necessarily in terms of role. But in terms of somebody taking touches away like C, J Anderson like we've seen the last couple of games and on the positive side. If Damian Williams is the guy has elevated himself to a point where we have to consider him. I thirty six overall picks and in terms of girly we have to now downgrade him to maybe closer to number five as opposed to number one. I want to tackle Damien Williams. I because it's it's a little more fun turned more upbeat positive center. I I don't I don't see what he's done in these last seven games in a row. You said Jim we're believe so on fire where he doesn't deserve a chance to be their lead back going into twenty nineteen. As long as they don't spend big capital free agency money one of the top one hundred draft picks of someone outside of the first three rounds on a quality running back. I think he's going to have that job again. And he should he's been great. And I don't know about top thirty six I think he might be more like top twenty four. So it's yeah. I mean, we did see him in one of I think we're drafting I'm sorry, Jim. I think if we're drafting now he's got to be a second round pick. And you don't feel the same way. I don't feel the same way. He was awesome in this game. And I I think he is top thirty six if they don't spend a top one hundred pick or add a free agent that you were concerned about I think they're the most likely is we have a really tough decision to make. 'cause they spent a third round peg on running back. Right. And it's a guy we're kind of excited about, but we don't know for sure if he's starting NFL running back, and we're going to go through the same thing we did with hunt and where in the. Williams, probably won't have that injury that where did and so it's gonna be a little bit messy possibly, but. No he this game was further convincing the he deserves shot. Absolutely. He does. And we could be looking at a situation where Damon Williams's somewhere between twentieth and thirtieth overall because. As much as we love how we played it makes sense for the chiefs to add another running back. They can't go into next year with Darrow Williams and Spencer whereby then they'd wanna get somebody Certa little more, juice and probably healthier knees. It's just the way that it is at running back in the NFL teams are constantly refreshing. So so you get picked twenty four and Damian Williams Travis Kelsey and Patrick Mahomes are all there. They won't be. I've probably running back in the first round. I'm gonna Kelsey is there in cal- home, Mahomes homes will be there in our drafts. Maybe not most is now early on the other hand. Again, the injury is probably a factor for how he's been performing. He was good against Dallas. Obviously with whatever the conditioning issues that he was working through over one hundred yards rushing and a touchdown C J Anderson just happened to be better. Are we now going to downgrade Todd Gurley from what should be the consensus number one overall pick two maybe two maybe three maybe four or five who knows depending on how it also makes out with guys in comparison of that range saquon Barkley Zeke, Elliot, Christian McCaffrey, Alvin Kamara may be one of the two one of potential two or three receivers the decision for me. It'll be third or fourth because I think I think Barclay and Elliot are gonna be one and two that you're automating. Okay. And I think it comes down to girly and McCaffrey. And it comes down to like, what do we hear? I don't really I don't. I'm not calling girly Aligarh calling the Rams liars. I don't believe he's fully healthy. It may be situation where he's not right, right? But he is healthy. I would not be like, none of us would be surprised if he had his niece coped in the next sixty day drained or something out there. There's something that just wasn't right. But I I think there's a decent chance..

Slash draft for more information. All right, Fran here we go week three college football, what's the? The marquee match up in your mind this. This is a fun one in the. There's actually a couple of good ones in the SEC, but the one that I'm going to be paying close attention to we'll be LSU at Auburn. Yeah, it's three thirty game on CBS and I'm gonna have my eyes on the trenches here you look at the the LSU offense of line. I'm a big fan of the left guard Garrett Brumfield I think you're these, this guy. I gonna want you to watch Ross this six, three, three hundred pounds heavy-handed kid. Really strong struggle. Really tough to get off of them. Once he engages strong anchor, he's got a good demeanor in terms of playing in the run game athletically. I think there are some limitations. I don't know that he's got the the best feet and lateral movement, but certainly good enough to be a starter in the NFL from what I seen. He's only got started guard. So. Positional versatility may be a question Mark as well. But Garrett Brumfield is one of my favorite into your linemen that I've studied so far and he's gonna have a big test this week. This this Auburn, defensive line is very talented inside. They've got Dirk town to junior Dante Russell's are very disruptive interior senior players. Well, and then Marlon Davidson off the right edge for Auburn, a six, three, two hundred eighty pound kid who can light up inside and outside. So garett Brumfield the rest of that LSU offense of line good test for them in this game, Joe borough, the quarterback as a junior transfer from Ohio State. He's six four. He's over two hundred fifteen pounds. He's had a pretty good season so far. And it looks like one of the better quarterbacks we've seen for the by Bengals over the last decade or so. He looks, he's throwing the ball. Well, he's making some plays with his feet. I think that he's got the ability to challenge this Auburn defense in ways that other LSU quarterbacks haven't in recent years. So keep an eye on Joe borough who still has another two years of eligibility and also. One of my favorite senior tight ends in this class as foster Moreau from LSU, not going to be known as a pass catcher, but really just ten nations. Blocker really technically sound. Looks like an extra of Lyman out there in terms of his technique, but he's, he gets after the run game and this Auburn front seven. Now I talked about defensive line. They've got a couple linebackers that love to come down hill and mix it up as well that Mike linebacker, Sean Davis. He shorty squad as kind of throwback player. We'd be talking about him as a day one day to pick if this were ten fifteen years ago. But in today's game, I think Davis wind up being a day, three guy. Darrow Williams though Ross's another senior linebacker who I think has a little bit more in a little bit more juice in terms of his projection. The next level I still think he's probably more of a day three guy, but he's six, two, he's two, thirty, seven. He's got a little bit more athletic than Davis. Does he lines up over the tight end? He can play in space. I think the Dave's a little bit more instinctive and shows a little bit more. From a play recognition standpoint, but both Williams and Davis will come down hill and mix it up in the run game. So look for more to kind of get mixed up with those guys throughout the course of the afternoon. And then when auburn's got the ball, look, we'll look jarred cinema again against nother quality opponent the the junior quarterback from Auburn, six, three, two hundred fifteen pounds. I like his arm town. I like his touch down the field. I just wanna see him process things quicker. And I wanna see develop more natural feel for navigating the pocket, especially when he's under pressure. There are times where I thought, you know, he's bailing out the back door when he didn't need to. He just doesn't refuses to step up into the pocket based off what I watched in years past. So excited to see what he's able to do against another quality defense. Here we saw against Washington in week. One had a bit of a week off last week. We'll see how he looks this week against LSU because that's a very talented front, seven for the for the Tigers. You've got Rashard Lawrence at one defensive end spot Bryden Fajr Oko Texas Tech transfer. Another defensive end spot those guys inside and then you've got the linebacker Devon white who's extremely talented at the second level guy that could play sideline to sideline a true junior in the secondary. You've got greedy Williams. One of the top cornerback prospects in the country. Six two hundred eighty two pounds absolutely looks. The part one of my buddies. Ben fennel who works for ESPN got to see that LSU team in person week one against Miami. So the greedy Williams, one thousand percent looks the part of an NFL corner. So excited to see him in this matchup auburn's gotta receiver. By the way, Ryan Davis. He's a little bit under size. Five, nine hundred eighty five pounds leads burning catches right now leads them in yards. He's got some juices. Well, so look for him down the field potentially matched up with Williams in this game. But overall, in terms of prospects, I think this one kind of has the motion terms of head to head matchups that being said, Ross, I think there are a bunch of you look around the country. There are a lot of really interesting games this weekend in terms of guys. Have a chance to prove themselves against superior opponents or pony that I think will provide a really tough test like you look at West Virginia, free him before you get into that. I wanted to make a point dude, some of those LSU Lyman. First of all, I do agree that Joe boroughs, the best quarterback LSU's had a while, but I think I told you to this, the Garrett Brumfield used or signed up for go pig recruiting by again. That's right. And I remember when he was like intense grade and some of the college coaches were like, you got Garrett Brumfield on here and like he was sending video to colleges on go bigger cruising. Usually once they realized that there, you know, they got scholarship offers everywhere in the country. You know, they don't. They don't use a service anymore because everybody knows about him. So that was cool. Dude. He looks like a total monster. I mean, he he is jacked totally Jack. I mean, there are other offered to lime and look good too, but Garrett Brumfield the left guard. I'm with you and he gets after people. It's awesome. I want you guys to get after bet q. l. if you haven't done this yet. It's awesome. It's such a cool thing. If you like to bet college football bet q. l. as the app for you, it's free for both apple and Android paying for it. Just an ally. Gorilla them. That goes ahead and helps, you know, keep track of any bets. You make tells you where the public money's going, where the sharps are going. These are the same guys that made squad q. l. which is the app that connects directly with your Yahoo ESPN or CBS league pulling in your actual roster and your league scoring system to give you waiver trade, Rebecca, mundane, helping the set your lineup. So whether it's squad q. l. Beck UL road Accua l. with those guys have is absolutely awesome. And speaking of awesome, you're right Fran. There are a lot of good one on one matchups this week. Let's get to if you of which are some of the one that stand out to you. Yeah. So you know, you look at West Virginia.

"That is a fair criticism. Let us move on. Father follow big, scramble Ford at the Panthers fall on it as your football game ticket It in. up. Mic mix in Eugene Robinson in Jim Zoki with call for w BT and the Carolina Panthers smother the Dallas Cowboys in a sixteen eight win in the season opener for both teams on Sunday Newton ran for Cam Newton, ran for fifty eight yards and a touchdown, a dominating performance by Carolina's defense led by Luke Keithly who had thirteen sacks. He went down the scary knee injury that looked pretty bad at first, but then they believe you return to the game. So Keithly leads the way as always six sacks in the game Cowboys. Just two hundred thirty two yards. Dallas was able to turn it on a little bit in the second half in the first half. It was borderline pathetic. Cowboys had sixty yards total and four first downs as Carolina went into the tunnel with a ten, nothing lead and I and one thing that happened near the end of the half that really got on my radar. And I was annoyed the man formerly known as riverboat. Iran. Formerly known. Yeah, played for three points when they were inside the ten yard line with, I believe about thirty seconds to go. He ran at once and then clock. The ball took three, but that's me as I. I hated the way he played that those two conservative. But also it showed Mark how at that point, there was no fear of the Cowboys offense and the and the mindset was get ahead to scores and let our defense take it home. And that's what they did. I mean, you come out of this game if you're a Cowboys fan, looking at this as a worst case scenario for week one because all the pronouncements from Dallas that we're going to find a receiver with this young group. We've got rid of Dez Bryant, we, we've lost. You know, we've lost players. We're gonna find a way to pass the ball. There were zero, explosive plays downfield for the most part, their offense of line. Absolutely. MRs. Travis Frederick at this is not the line that we've been talking about for the past couple years. Zeke Elliott held a sixty nine yards. This is a bad look for Dallas because you wonder how they're going to climb out of this in the next couple of months. Yeah. If you're. Concern was about Travis. Frederick in the offensive line. This game did not help matters. They have a formula that is similar to the Jaguars built to play with the lead. You have to pass the ball to come from behind in the NFL, and you have to wonder if this team can do it. At one point. Solomon Wilcox used the word epat which I didn't even know was a word, don't think it is not, but because we knew what he meant it, he said, the Cowboys don't appear to be at at anything, and that's what it looked like on offense. Correct statement, the opposite of inept or the synonym. I don't even know the opposite of inept. I know that Connor Williams is their second round guard that they took. And if you're going to take a guard that high and put them in your starting line of right away, it's got kind of has to work and it clearly didn't in training camp. He didn't look great in the preseason, and he was dominated by k. one short today. And on the other side, if you're Ron Rivera, this is you're like, this is the ultimate perfect game for the Panthers. This is how he wants to play your dominating front. You're running the ball, you're controlling the pace, but they keep losing key players every time they step on the field. I mean, they. They lose Darrow Williams today, the right tackle who probably returned from an injury tour -ly. You lose Greg Olson to another foot injury. Those are two key starters almost of any team. They've lost key guys, whether it's ki- Cleber earning the game. I mean, it looks like that injury. We were watching. It looked serious at first. You can never really tell, but he was back in there like the next next year also and you have to look at considering foot issues and you have to think. I don't know when he's going to be his last game, at least the guy that was pondering Atari going to this year if the banks up that same foot. I mean, what point is it over?.

"So that's all the more reason to just ram it up inside because every NFL center knows how to hike the ball and then go block the guy that's six inches in front of him. All right. Block of near-earth in south. Yeah, there enough. I, you know this this panther secondary would seem to be obviously the the weak point of this defense still James Bradbury is coming on, but that is that is not what they invest in. Can the Cowboys I, I don't know. You just look at this receiving group and these tight ends. Do. Do you expect the Cowboys vehicle to get anything going in this passing game. If it steam it, if they scheme it, they can and you know what Carolina is going to be in a lot of their coverages. There are pretty straightforward zone team. So that's all the more opportunity to scheme when you know what the coverage will be. You can gain plan accordingly if they just lined up play like they did last year. Yes, it's not going to work and. They don't scheme it very often. They do not. They do not this wide receiving corps. You could argue it's better than last year's last year's. We forget how bad it was because Branson, no name. And so we talked about him every week, but does Brank couldn't play anymore. That's why he's out of the league now. So it's not that they downgraded here. They've made changes and there's reasonably I'd I'd take Allen Hearns over does brain in a heartbeat at this stage of each guys career. So it's a better receiving a year ago. The Jason Witten factors, a big win though. That's that's the x. factor is Whitten was a security blanket. They don't have that now. I would probably not expect a lot of balls thrown to the tight end, especially because that's Luke, Keith, Thomas Davis territory Keith the best past defending linebacker in football. Of the shot the ball here. Do you have any sense of what a Norv Turner? Offense will look like after nor had basically year and a half out of football to come up with some things. And obviously he has two very unique players and Cam Newton and Christian McCaffrey to build this offense of around. Yeah, I mean, needs to leverage those guys. It's funny because north Turner stepped away from football for a while when Minnesota's offense of lying got ravaged by injuries Turner scheme was not conducive to hiding an old line. So much Turner prefers deep dropbacks. He's at times in his career has been willing to live with mismatches in the past protection game. He thinks he can get away with that any probably does more often than not. Otherwise he wouldn't be doing it for so many years, but the weakness in Minnesota that year, the twenty sixteen there tackles were so depleted that I, it was too much overcome and they had to change a scheme. And so they change coordinators. Well, here's Turner back in the NFL. Now in Matt Kalil tackles gone out injured. He'll be gone for a while. Darrow Williams has not been healthy be. I'd be surprised if he plays this week, but there's both of your tackles and they're already weak Rick guard than they were a year ago. Lauda ugly questions with this Panthers, oh line. And that can be hard to hide multiple align weaknesses. So I don't know what Turner's off into look like..

"Draft, keeps hair today hair tomorrow. All right, Fran, we've been waiting for it. Let's start it. Mark mentioned it. Why? Shington? Auburn Saturday, three thirty PM on ABC two or three matchups we need to keep our eyes on. Yeah, I think we'll start in Mark mentioned the quarterbacks going up against these defenses and so we'll we'll leave that alone. But you look at the trenches when Washington got the football. We've talked on this show about trae Adams. The left tackle for the huskies. He's coming back off the AC l. injury six eight over three hundred thirty pounds. Big strong. Nasty run blocker with pretty good feet for his size. So you've got him on the left side. Kayla mcgarry is a good prospect in his own right on the right side or right? Tackle six, six, three, twenty five going up against an Auburn defensive line. It's got a lot of talent. You know. Marlon Davidson is a six, three. Two hundred eighty pound junior defensive end for Auburn. But those defensive tackles inside dark Brown is a junior and then Dante VS Russell has flashed as well. Six to three hundred twenty three pounds. He was on the senior bowl watchlist anytime I'm watching SEC football and I'm watching an Auburn game Russell seem to flash Derrick Brown as well. So you've got those three guys up front for Washington. Keep an eye on the battle in the trenches Washington as well. In the backfield alongside Jake Browning, they've got the running back miles Gaskin look, I'm not the biggest fan of miles gas. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that he's a first or second day pick, but this gets five, five, nine one hundred ninety pounds. He's got pretty good vision. He's got pretty good agility. He's a smooth runner. The size it and lack of play strength is going to, you know, is going to hurt him a little bit, but this is going to be a good match for going up against one of the better senior linebacking duos in the entire country with Darrow Williams, six to thirty seven, big strong athletic kid. He's got some length to him. I think he's got some Brazil versatility to and then to Sean Davis, who led the team in tackles a year ago five eleven two hundred thirty pounds more of a throwback in terms of the way he plays the game. He's got some pop downhill. That's the matchup I'm going to watch when Washington's got the football. And then on the other side, you know, Ann Arbor got it. Looked Jared student. We talked about, but look as well with Washington on their defensive line, Greg games, the nose tackle there. We talked about him really strong power for run defender who could hold his own at the point of attack. I would watch him against his Auburn off. It's of line at has had a little bit of turnover as well this year love it. What about Saturday night friend, it's Michigan. Notre Dame, both these teams always have some dudes, and we've talked about the Michigan dudes. I feel like we have a tote that much about very many learning guys though. What? What are the matchup she'll be watching this one. And it had so much turnover from last year. They lost so much Notre Dame. So you know, this is going to be a little bit of a changing a guard for them, but look, it all starts when we're talking about Michigan, it's star with that defensive line, and we're gonna talk about Rashawn Gary six, five to eighty seven. We, we both have studied them. He got all the tools in the world. He's just got to keep putting it together. And really I want to see a little bit more urgency from him what to see him take the next step in with a lot of people think will be his final year on campus. Can he put it all together as a pass rusher, is he going to be more consistent with his motor, the flash plays or outstanding, and he's got the tools to a Davian clowney type of player. We just haven't seen it all together yet. So I'm excited to see Rashawn Gary chase win on the other side is like the complete opposite. The tools are not there, but in terms of rush skill and high motor, he's giving you everything. He's got. He's completely maxed out, but you just love the football player. So watching Reshad, Gary chase win, which the rest of that Michigan. Offensive line. Go go up against this. Notre Dame offensive line which look last year. They had one of the best offensive lines in college football don't know. That's necessarily going to be the case this year. We'll see. I mean, Alex bars. The guy I studied, he's got right, tackle and left guard experience in his background. He's got good size at six, six, three eighteen. You know, I don't know if he's got the feet to play tackle. I'm not sure about his athleticism. He's got to be working system with his dad level. Sambu. Staffer is in its center was in the senior bowl watch list this past week. I haven't studied him but get his six to three, oh five. Going into his final year. How are those guys going to match up with this Michigan defensive line? That's going to be one of the big match ups to watch. And then Allison, Mack, I think he's got a chance to have a really big season coming back off the academic suspension twenty sixteen. He started a handful of games last year. He's six five. He's two hundred forty pounds kind of freak show athlete really good after the catch like to see him be more consistent though at the catch boy way too many drops last year and that was a consistent. Issue for him. So if a MAC and put it all together, I think he's got a chance to be kind of a top fifty pick potentially at the tight end spot going up against the Michigan secondary Tyree KENDALL was just on the senior bowl watch list at safety. Five, eleven two hundred and ten pounds, and there are a lot of people are really excited about the corner for Michigan as well. Lavertu ill, five, eleven hundred. Seven hundred seventy pounds was second team all conference last year. So those are the guys I'm going to be watching when Notre Dame's got the ball on the other side, Michigan unveiling their new starting quarterback, shape. Patterson transfer from ole miss so excited to kind of see him running Jim Harbaugh's offense. And you look at this Notre Dame secondary, Julia love is an intriguing player. We didn't talk about him when we preview Noor name over a month ago. But you know he's five, ten hundred ninety three pounds athletic kid really good reaction quickness at the top of the route. He's got the ability to play. It's be a man cover corner. I'd like to see him be a little bit more consistent. Finding the football downfield is ball's goes a little bit of a concern, and I want to see. Them get a little bit better against the run as well. And then Troy pride who I think we'll probably be the starter on the opposite side. We'll see how that shakes out. But Troy pride is five, eleven one ninety. He's got outstanding, physical, physical tools. I mean, they'll the lengths there, the speed he's got great. Top speed is an outstanding athlete attract guy, but Kenny find the ball downfield. How instinctive is the? I mentioned that reaction quickness with Julian love. That's not there at least was there last year with Troy pride? So can he take the next step? I think that will be very interesting. And then lastly, the, you know, look at these Michigan running backs. You know, Karen hit in is a senior, and he's probably the big name to watch. I think Chris Evans who's a junior is also going to see some tick, but really you see, Karen Hake didn't. He's five, nine hundred ninety seven pounds. He's a strong aggressive runner like he's a fun kid to watch. The traits aren't great. I don't know how great is feed are. He's not super explosive, but he's a competitive kid gives effort and everything. He does going up against a linebacking duo with motor Dame. That's really impressive. Drew. Frank will is a nice player sixty to thirty five, but I like to vont Coney six foot two hundred thirty. One pounds. He's got sideline to sideline. Ability showed good instincts against the run size and strength or a little bit of an issue. Can he play in reverse? I don't know that that's going to necessarily be an issue this week against Michigan. But those are some interesting names to watch in this game. Yeah, there's there's a bunch of guys, I'm curious to see for Sean Gerry can take the next step this year. "I am Gary grambling here as always with and even noise Andy, we're, we're going to say we have wrapped up sort of the most impactful part of the preseason. We're through week three, and I look back and see what happened to summer and how it's going to impact the upcoming season. We're in that inbetween spot regular season. It feels like it's here. Basically. I think in the minds of teams it is. They don't give much regard if any to that fourth preseason game, and there's some preseason news at impacts what we're doing with the regular season. So it's it's a good time to revving up time of year it is. And let's we are actually talking at the top of the show offense of line injuries and how it's going to affect offenses of some of the what we think are Super Bowl contenders this year, and we're going to start in Carolina because this is, I mean, this is the most interesting to me the Panthers have been trying to, I think, recapture that identity from that two thousand fifteen season. When obviously, Cam was EP and everything went right for them. Boy, they are in trouble up front. Daryl Williams is out Matt Khalil's gonna miss an undisclosed amount of time here. Amini Seila Tolo is gonna miss some time, even Jeremiah Searle who was kind of a six linemen backing up a couple of spots. He is. He left the game the other day with a hamstring injury. I think back to nor- Turner's last year as an offense coordinator in Minnesota, and they were completely ravaged on the offensive line. And basically he, he was kind of unable to adjust, and that's why they on from him in Minnesota. I, I'm here. Yeah. Yeah. I hear you. That's I think it's a valid concern because north Turner, part of his reputation is his protection concepts are what they are, and he's willing to live with some of the deficiencies what he founded, Minnesota and why he stepped away that they could not live with those deficiencies. Players were simply not good enough to block at offense tackle. And we're talking two years ago now when he left mid season, and I'm sure my guess is they said to Turner, hey, you got to tweak your offense and he's said in can't do that. Not in the middle of the season. That's that's not how the offense is set up. So they parted ways. So now here's north Turner again, and you just mentioned his offensive tackles, Matt Kalil on the left side Darrow Williams on the right side. They're both out and then there's questions that guards those guys. You mentioned are probably backup level guards anyways, already questions there to begin with. Yeah, I think it's a big deal for Carolina. I do because of how Turner uses his past protections and what will see it becomes even more important than Gary for their. A running game to dominate and and be more foundational last year. It had good numbers, but it did not dictate the flow of gains had good numbers because Cam Newton, inflates the numbers. But for my snap, the snap basis, they were not a very good running team, not certainly not good enough for that to be who they're built around or what they're built around. They need to do that. Now it's hard to do that without good offensive lineman. So you have to do it by design with them. And it becomes even more important that Cam Newton be threat at least in their running game, whether he's running the ball or not. Yeah, I mean two things I wanted to mention here, one of them. I mean, look, we don't have an answer for it yet. Norv Turner was obviously, I mean, he was out of football for a year and a half a lot of guys when they're out of football and nor did do this. They kind of travel around and see what's going on and see what other teams are doing and and sort of pick up some concepts that way. So you kinda wonder, will he have kind of a new approach to what he does. Not a completely revamped approach, but might he know how to weather this storm a little bit better after he had a base a year and a half to kind of think about what he's going to do going forward here. The other thing I'm gonna bring up. I've always wondered this about Cam Newton. We talk about it all the time. He, he hangs in the pocket. He runs on designed runs..
