"Yeah i don't know any of them Only one though no has wins over three power. Five teams wow name that team. I'll help you okay. Why you know that wasn't gonna guess. Nebraska came close. Well when you missed field goals and extra point taken back for two points. Oh my god. I mean so all my clothes. They were closer than i thought. Then and another dimension. They won twenty three to twenty one and another dimensional road. I live in. Yeah i we're one. They lost by seven and they kept it respectable. No kidding i'm telling you the defense is still twenty. Three sixteen yeah. It'd be nice if we had anybody on special teams Because this is now now now play the role that you've played in the past Look if we had anybody decent on special teams. We'd before. No i don't. I've never said that. Okay i've never said a word about special teams. That's i think that's the first time special. Teams has come up on his broadcast as a matter of fact But three you know for for byu after that. Arizona state beating yeah beatdown of arizona state. Okay not quite. There was a play in that game. The doubt everybody must go see where the coolest in their guy football history interception by the way he reminds me of brett farve. He needs to keep it under control a little bit. You know he does because he would make the most incredible place but then stuff what happened. But i do that. Interception right in the running back chased him down. That was like don beebe chasing down leeann. Let the super bowl. so he throws a what looked to be a pick. Six darren hall from the cougar quarterback he throws what is certainly a a pick six but at the twenty yard line. So he's gone like sixty yards. Are running back tyler. Algiere chases him down. The guy's got like. I think four three speed and i'd like to point out on this guy with the rain bags. Name tyler. he was on the ground. Yeah cut open gets up and cheeses down and then tomahawk chops. Him climbs on his back on his back and smashes the ball out of his arms. The quarterback hustled all the way down the field. He recovers the fumble. We get the ball back. Yeah i mean. Arizona state would have taken the taken the lead at point and they never did take the lead. Stereotypical is a great play. Congratulations you got any big speed bumps on the way. Oh yeah we still got a tough rodeo. Okay you got boise state you got. Usc baylor. i don't know how good washington state is This weekend is South florida so that should be. I'm hoping it's an easy win We could use an easy winners. The game provo All right so that's the recap there on the weekend. The packers played tonight. I believe against the right. Yeah the falcons lost badly yesterday. I mean they club back did they. Were down twenty eight to ten then clawed back twenty eight twenty five and then it just fell apart. Yeah so what did end up. Forty six twenty five i. I don't know something like that now. My memory stuck on twenty eight. Twenty five paul. Okay all right. We'll leave it at that. Thank you. That's fine zach wilson from last year's byu team. Oh my terrible terrible we. That was not good. Of course peyton. Manning had games in his rookie season. So that's why. I'm falling back on right. That's good yeah. Big rally in washington. Dc in support of the january sixteenth. All my gosh. "Some promise during the preseason me. He's plays that if caught my eye and as you said i think michael walker. It's fitting that he believes dion. Jones backed up right now But those two are very similar types of players. And that's why. I think. Dawkins fans at the falcons themselves like it so much. Because when he's out there you see dionne jones. You know very similar in his game sort of the guy looked long range and bram yorker do. Well so yeah. I have high hopes for this. This unit end. I think the highlight for him right now or injuries. They could be a lot of fun to watch under the. Mp's with those get blitzes seeing jones michael walker coming up in the middle and hitting these quarterbacks my only my only regret is i wish drew brees was still playing. We could see him get hit in the chin. Marry the right time. He left the perfect time. We can hit winston. It'll be a little bit of fun yet. Rather than he had jamison drew all right the secondary. This may be where some of the biggest questions lie but at the same time some promising players again you know we look at a corner you've got. Aj tyrrell who by all accounts is looks like. He's ready to make a big leap in year. Two after having a relatively good with season opposite of him. You've got fabien. Moreau who i think is going to end up being a a really good value. Signing for the falcons Pass those guys. I think the depth that corner becomes concerning isaiah. Oliver will take the the nickel. A nickel snaps is a slot corner. And then you've got like guys like tj green. Darren hall avery williams. A bunch of you know during home in williams rookies so you shouldn't expect too much out of them and then kendall sheffield. I didn't even think was going to make the roster to begin with in the safety. You've got you know the two veteran Guys eric harris drawn harmon brought in. You know it's really as a stopgap. But actually i feel like the guys behind them have a ton of potential jalen. Hawkins looked really. Good this preseason. And obviously richie grant our second round draft pick. So what's your take on this second degree that it's got a lot of question marks but maybe some really promising pieces for long-term yeah and again i think. Aj terrell is going to be the staple of this unit. I think he's gonna take a big jump to really establish is frankly. I think one of the better cornerbacks in this league again Without a.

"But i think that's gonna be the logan ryan Little slot little safety bigeye. A physical tackler And and you know a lot of the times to they only see a place whereas all over did beat and you with corners. You have to watch them every play pathway least obviously but You know there's a lot of times they all playing pretty good coverage. There's but i think he's badly just over. Hated lightning rod. There's always gotta be one you know it was big beasley before that And i think in this new role. Because i i just don't see these but again on the outside any shows I think in this new role he's going to be really really good Well let me let me walk that back to us a little bit. I think he's going to be good. I think he's gonna be improved. And i think he'll still get a lotta. Hey you know a lot of hate Just because you know he's still got messed up every once in a while. There's no corn league. I think they get up zero percent. Completion percentage But you know i. I think he's going to be a lot more physical he's going to be able to Take a little bit of pressure off himself. And i think he's going to flourish in a new role with this. Yeah i think so and good kid interviewed him after one of the games. Just really down to earth Got a good shoulders. So i want to see him succeed. I think you. And i talked about him for I think a lot of the fact that he was a second round. Pick that some people had first route. You know potential first round pick. I think if for what he's given us if he were a fourth or fifth round pick you talked about the incredible value that we got him and i. It's unfortunate you player can't choose when they're drafted But right now he fits into that nickel role. That's probably gonna be a good fit for him all right now. Another thing we talked about. I think the and you talked about this. But it doesn't help that. Whenever the falcons in the second round but like they just got a draft. I mean all yes and you know he. He was the round talent. This is a great big. I can't believe he's still sitting in the fountain. Just got him. I don't think the help all nice fall And like yeah improviser. A lot of hype in absolutely that factors into it. And honestly you gotta evaluate these guys not on their draft position or the hype coming out you sit and you have to evaluate them by how they play and how they grow and how they develop and that's what we tried to do and and we try to balance out sort of a hot takes of guys trash. That's out so Let's be realistic folks. A zale offers knocking to light it up. But he's he is. He's got a role in. I think he can play that role fairly well all right behind him now. This is interesting. This is a player. I didn't even think would necessarily make the roster in it still remains to be seen. What the falcons ultimately do with him. But kendall sheffield who is going into his third year you know former fifth round pick. He had a terrible twenty twenty To be blunt they they essentially benched him at one. point the kiva so bad and he's got the capability. He has an athletic Kid he's someone that can make plays but he was just getting roasted on. The regular did not play at all. Preseason in he made the fifty three man roster I'm not entirely sure. Why the falcons. The the fifty three man roster is composed right. Now is very odd. They've got of levin defensive backs which normally most teams peak about ten. You know in It was interesting to see them. Carry a kindle sheffield the to drafted rookies did make it Darren hall and avery williams In my mind darren hall is someone that needs a little bit more seasoning. I think they're carrying him to redshirt him in the same way we mentioned earlier. He's a player. I think we'll probably start off. Inactive on game days every williams though came on pretty strong towards the back end of these preseason games Not even to mention the fact that he was really drafted we are punt returner and as a corner was beginning to show out at the back end of camps. Who how do you feel about these last three guys at the corner position. Yeah this this is where the great starts to tail off for me a little bit death. The death is absolutely concerning and my thing is You know. I understand aaron hall everywhere. Working progress know who really knows about kendall. Sheffield at this point where you know we talk about you. Know if you wanna make the roster you can contribute on special teams tackling is not exactly gonna sheffield forte. He's as a really good actually and he has the ball skills he's not a very physical guy Which is kind of widespread. I thought they were gonna keep chris williamson over here. I'm glad to get on the practice squad But the depth is definitely very concerning. I think they're all i. I gave them the demonte. The calm down to the same school that hybrid safety corner combo and i think he can be a contributor. One day. I don't think he's just immediately leave. Leave the exception. But i think they're going to be a solid contributor one day. I don't think it's right now I'm really trying to not get myself too. Excited over every williams Playing well in the preseason but hey if these guys gotta come into a game just stopped by fire. I think they're gonna. I think they're gonna play well on special teams. I think they'll vote definitely contributed a way there They you know this this. These are two guys that i think have long term potential but stepping in immediately. I you know they might see some problems. Yeah exactly and one hundred percent with you there. i do like the long term potential. I think every williams we of the two is going to be the one active on game days simply because the special teams component but over the long term. They could be you know guys that you go to for depth or maybe even eventually become contributors in nickel-and-dime sets on the regular. But yeah like if they're getting into games this year Consistently that's going to be a problem in kendall sheffield. I'm with you. i thought williamson was gonna push sheffield off the roster..

"Whether or not the falcons would keep a fourth guy back there. And it's during ethridge. Who played a fantastic game in that first. Preseason ended up arguably being a little bit more consistent than some of the guys. He was competing with. He has made the initial fifty three man roster. I feel like this is a position that it's going to be relatively stable. Enroll thompson was one of the guys. That was in competition here. I could see him. Potentially going to the practice squad for this team really liked what he did as well in this preseason but right now during ethridge the only other undrafted free agent other than philippi. Franks to make the fifty three man roster. I think he's relatively safe. I think we can run with this now as we get into the defensive backfield. This is where things get interesting. The falcons are going to be running running with eleven total defensive backs now. I think most people thought the max number for the defensive backs it was going to be around ten. So they're they're running one heavier than what most people projected really with that being sort of four safeties five corners and in that that tenth player being sort of a hybrid player that can play both safety and corner. Let's start with the safeties obviously drawn harmon. Eric. harris or the to presumed starters the veteran starters the one year rentals at the safety position and then of course. You've got At the the the backups. For those guys Richie grant who our second round draft pick and then jalen hawkins arguably one of the most improved players from last year to this year Who we think also is going to see a lot of playing time now. The corner position. This is where. I think things are a little bit interesting obviously. Aj terrell fabien moreau or the to pencil in starters. They've looked good from what we've seen from them. In camp in limited playing time in the preseason and then behind them. you've got isaiah. Oliver who is the presumed nickel corner. Who has actually played pretty well. I think he played pretty well in the back. Half of last year in this revised position for him. And then darren hall and avery williams the to drafted corners. They have made the roster. Darren hall maybe a little bit more surprised but again. I don't think the team wants to walk away from any of their drafted rookies. The they wanna hang on to these guys whether they play him or not so hall could be someone that In the very similar way kept inactive on game days and they're keeping him to pull him into the twenty twenty two season unless injuries of course happened. The head of him every williams. Clearly i think is going to be the punt returner of choice for the team going forward. Tj green who. I feel like really had a very very strong season in the last couple of preseason games that last one may have played him onto the roster his player. It's got some size. He's one of the guys. I think that can sorta platoon. Between safety and corner. He has made the roster so kudos to him and kendall. Sheffield is currently on the roster. Here's a guy that i felt was on the bubble. He did not play at all in the preseason. He is barely practice in fact. I don't know that. He is practiced once many of us thought he would either be put on the pup list or put on injured reserve. This could be something where he could be returning in the very near future. And the falcons just are not willing to move on from him yet. But he has for now made the roster. I will say this. I do feel like this is a position. Where if they're going to add another offensive lineman or even potential another running back. I like one of these defensive backs could be the guy to go and honestly. I still think i'm going to continue to say that. I think kendall sheffield's going to be that guy simply because his second season was such a downturn of performance the injuries this year i could see them trying to stash him on the pup list and obviously that would be six weeks before you would be able to see him again. I feel like there's maybe an additional change coming for the defensive back so this is definitely wanted to keep an eye on but right now sheffield has made the roster and of course the the specialist. Josh harris long snapper young way coup. For the kicker and cameron is lack has made it as the punter The former holder or former teammate of young way coup is also now made the roster as well so kudos to those guys As i mentioned before this is and you're going to see a lot of people saying this and it bears repeating. This is the initial roster. I think we're going to see more moves made even possibly today or tomorrow as these other guys are cut. The falcons are pretty high in the the chain for claiming guys off waivers because of the record last year so if they go and claim a guy there's a good chance that they'll get him likewise if a veteran this cut a specially again i think on the offensive line because of the lack of depth there. I think that is a position. They can look to address. End some of the guys. I think even though right now they're on the roster who are are not necessarily on sure footing. If you asked me to put that down to a list i would say number one. Felipe a franks do think. They'll try to put him on the practice squad at some point. But i just don't see them trying to carry three quarterbacks all year long Josh rosen again. I think this is more about the team wanting to give him a longer. Look but i don't think he's unsure for either. I think the team could still look for another veteran quarterback to be the true. Backup to matt ryan this year. So the two quarterbacks behind matt ryan or on my list for a.

"I've written mayans on my own. No no no not there anymore. You're just sitting there. You know so much sunscreen. You need like and it's not like i'm a big bigger human where it's like. I've got a lot of ground to cover. Joe is just. It's every day you have to put the bug. Spray to bug certainly wants are attached bus. Get the bug spray doesn't work. There's there's there's been some interesting moments at practice. Because i will spray bug spray and i guess i'm the only one that does because maybe everyone else have been here for a long time. I don't know put like the smell of it will like wash down to the media tent and then people get mad at me and i sprayed sixty feet away But you know there is off just wafting its way down so those are been the transitions but as far as football goes you know football football. And i'm still trying to find the stories that i would be telling in detroit in and try to tell them in atlanta the types of stories at least keep smith the story about smith's aunt oncle road on on sunday the story about jolson that i wrote a couple of weeks ago. Like that's the status of that. I didn't detroit and done before and south bend and an aunt in in virginia. And all the places. I've been it's just trying to find those stories here and You know doing that as best as best as i can. I've got about three or four five or six. That are not going to talk about on here. That i'm working on right now and you know. Keep rolling from there. So that's a long as they're probably where we're looking for but it's going okay. Other than the the bugs in the sunscreen. What the bugs have really been coming after me too. So i am very sympathetic So i was up at flowery branch every day when quinn took over for mike smith and so i was. You know there on the ground for the start of that regime and it's really weird for me. It's who not have been able to be up and flowery branch. I haven't seen arthur smith interacting with players and i'm really curious about your overall impression of arthur smith so far in how he runs things frizz he's very down to earth is very serious but he's late. He's incredibly late. As far as i haven't seen him like completely like where it was like one of those head turns like whoa. I can't believe he just like went up in. Oh and maybe that's a little bit of the prior regime that covered the my last stop by that chain. My mentality a little bit on that. But he's treats these guys professionally jokes around with them but also he's incredibly serious. They get their work done. There's not a lot of like messing around It's a very crisp clean practice. But i mean he said it yesterday. Because i asked them so. There was a collision between two degreen. Darren hall now look really bad. I mean it was one of those like you earned. It started like car-crash koizumi then again. They're not they're not in pad and they're just comets shows and tj green was holding his head down. And you know usually coaches let that go like get the guy off the sahni. It keeps going in. Practice literally stopped practice until Endless because maybe there was some concern by next stuff but like just did a movement and he's he was there like arthur smith said after bryce i listen i'm not gonna just reverse field and keep going like you make these okay. Make sure it's also big serious. I it wasn't tj green. Darren hall returned to practice so know crisis in a potentially very bad situation averted there that to me stuck out because it's like no he's you know he's paying attention in these being sort within. I think how he's handled players in training. Camp has been very smart if they show the slightest bit of injury or slightest bit of anything. They're held out now. I know that that's sometimes confused fans but you know i mean by cow i remember rubio's was fourth day daycare or whatever and really at what was deemed a veteran rest day. And it was you know there are people on twitter. How veteran no. He's he has a plan to make sure that really understands. It's all about getting to september twelfth healthy and if feel encounter really feels like he needs a recipe or ucla cowper and they give it to. He's been really smart about that. And i think that he's left based off to a pretty good impression anniversary. Any of how. He handles players how he treats them. And it's just a very businesslike atmosphere. Like you can tell you go and you get your work and get your job done and you move on. And that's being. I think what you've also seen with the media and how he handled i. He's what's his personality. Come through every now and then like the back and forth anyhow embattled floor for a couple days fantastic was started because of a question. I asked about it because i just noticed. He was wearing like different great hats every day. So i just ask about choice because coaches are weird about different things like eight you know jim kaba always board. She watches and really he will weeding know for years. Why he did. It turned out. He wore a second watch because he said this on a podcast clover quinn years after gone from that he wore at because martha ford gave him that watch and he wore on her in every game but he never tell us that another thing outside aside manage had with hats he had like we traveled like eleven of twelve like every coach has their different things. Right i thought maybe that was a thing for christmas. So i asked him at You know and pam going after able or jokingly because those are his guys than before i was hoping it would go on all year long but it still might say it stopped because there was a preseason game so yeah what would you cross your general impression of how arthur smith runs thing. So i mean. I think you really covered it there..

"What do you make of darren hall and do you think he's someone that could grow into a role at obviously right. Now i think everyone's hoping more for rotational guy you know in dime sets Possibly what do you see from hall that you like or don't like do you think he's someone that could grow into a bigger role this time on any notice of your point talking about you know how he gets in there and uses his hands. He tied for the f. b. s. lead in pass breakups had sixteen he. Snide re interceptions out first team all mountain west Of course the secondary coach kyle hoke. Who is the son of atlanta secondary. Coach john okay. So you got the. But when darren hall was drafted that was the first thing that the first thing that i said i said you like demonte casey great. We got you the second coming of demonte casey down to the same school water safety type really. Good athlete ball hog. You know. I think he could grow into a similar type of role as demonte as each and He tested really well athletically. And he's another one of those guys you know. We talked about the safety nickel flexibility. I think that's where he'll time initially Maybe on the boundary at some point But i think they're not. I think he was a solid pickup. He was a name that i really didn't expect wasn't on my radar. But as soon as i looked i was like whoa. They just got the month. Akc again except he's on a real deal. So arno filler. Lead the lead the nfl and interceptions. That's yet to be. Yeah you know. I mean fourth round pick again. I feel like that's going to give him a little bit. More flexibility to grow into a role as opposed to Is oliver who we just talked about. And he has just twenty one years old so again. The player that we've got for four years on cheap money. Let's see what he can grow into. I think Michael rothstein with espn noted that he's a guy who's shown up in Training camp the past several days appears to be getting better as camp goes on. And that's why that's what you want to hear from these young guys. Not that they're you don't wanna necessarily will you would love to hear the the fourth round there is is showing out in defending calvin ridley consistently. But that's not going to happen. Do you hear that they're growing. That's what that's really As much as you can ask for. So he's got to watch as well in the preseason. I wanna see what he can do with more snaps. These are the guys. I think that You know to the point you made their earlier. There really probably gonna cut their teeth on special teams in your one unless something goes bad from an injury. Standpoint god forbid but maybe in year two and in going forward he can earn a big role all right last name on the list and obviously i think he's only we're only talking about him because on paper his listed as a corner and it's not fair i mean he he he's gonna play corner in the games in the preseason games it's clear they drafted this guy for special teams and specifically for his returnability. This guy is bonkers from a return standpoint. I don't have the numbers in front of me. But i wanna say. He has got a ridiculous number of touchdowns from a kick return and punt return sampling college. You may have this rely on you. But i'll look him up if if needed from have us have that he's a smaller guy that he's five foot nine but he is crazy crazy. Good in the return game. And i'm talking about every williams. I think in the falcons are really really hoping he takes that punt return job. Obviously this year quarter. O- patterson will be the guy kick returns. But i think they have an eye on williams growing into that role over time to fulfilling both of those responsibilities and hopefully developing into someone they can use as a rotational guy in a corner. What do you make of a williams What do you think is potential not only as return guy but also long-term as as a guy who could be part of the depth at the cornerback position. I'm not gonna count him out as a corner just yet The titans that he did have a pass breakup They tested twice a deep downfield and You know he was there he was. He was there in coverage granted. You take level of Competition into consideration. I thought he held his own. You know he didn't look bad in as far as the return game. Goes you know he had thirty yard kick return. Which if it wasn't for that the falcon probably would've got shut out. You know he You know he definitely shows that the quickness that agility and you know maybe you can coach that up into. Nfl corner Because he certainly has it that somebody can't teach You know he shows it off in the return game. But i think you can mold him. I don't know what his ceiling would be. I'm not saying you know he's gyroscope under second coming but i think he can be a guy that could come in a pinch. Maybe if you're on a dime said you know you're really in a pinch. You know I think you can. I think he can make them work out there. I don't think he would be the biggest liability But he's another guy played a boise state. he's gonna take a little time to develop that's fine. He doesn't have to play right now. But as you said you know he's gonna cut his teeth on special teams. He's he's gonna be gun in running in returning cakes and all this other stuff. So i'm perfectly fine with that. You know as i mentioned if he's contributing significant snaps as a rookie as a corner. Something has probably gone wrong with our guys the depth so right now i think we're going to be content in your one if he can take that punt returner position and make something of it So again another one of these young guys that i'm particularly keen on seeing in training camp and seeing how he plays out because that punt return position has been painful for the past few years so hopefully he can give us something there and then over time as you mentioned slowly develop into guy that could contribute on some level again anyone who's expecting a starter other the six round From a corner like this. It's probably not in the cards. But then again falcons got a couple of six rounders a few years ago in foyer lucon and russell gauge that. I think were initially drafted for special teams. Have turned into two. Really good starters falcons so exactly and you know he has nine. Nine career kick return touchdowns. That's some sort of record at some place. I don't know i can wear. That's impressive to me and He house four last year. And i think that might have led all college football. Don't quote me on that i did. I think it was eric that said something today about. He had this many touchdowns and it was something record. I'll put him on the spot for that. But absolutely yeah and you know like i said the guy. Him and Chris chris roland are going to battle it out for that punt returner spot. And i think. I think if he has a big game You know against the dolphins if he can keep showing that accurate on special teams. He's locked for the rostrum. He's a draft pick. So that probably is anyways but yeah i agree. I think we mentioned it before. You know chris if it comes down to him and chris rowland and the two guys are essentially performing the same. I think williams get the nod simply because know the preference towards your own draft picks so all right that is the the corners. We currently have on the roster. Last question for you jake. How are you feeling about this position group. Obviously i think we went into this. Preseason knowing that corner was a position luck question marks outside of agents real There was no firm starters That we could come on that we knew would be experienced or even just decent. How do you feel now. That they've got favor moreau. They've got some of these guys behind the. Do you feel better about this group. Do you still feel like it could be a weakness. What's your outlook for. Twenty twenty one. Yeah you know a falcons fan. I like to call myself and optimists anybody else from the outside looking in would probably call me an idiot but i. I don't think this group's going to be that rough. I don't think they're gonna rank top three in passing yards allowed and You know interceptions. But i think they can hold their own. I think the falcons are gonna feel the middle of the pack defense..

"You know that type of wrote a rover that's gone. That's i think that's actually what i used on the last time we talked about this. But you know that rover you know you move him all around the place because you can do a couple of different things right. Maybe not one thing exceptionally well But you can use them in a lot of different ways. And i think dean will have some type of role in that aspect. Probably not a set position. But i think you'll have some type of role in that aspect where he'll just be moved around a lot and it'll be a couple guys at slop in and out and does not the worst thing in the world. No and i think your point about his draft position in the hype is so poignant. I it's i think that's a big part of it. The fact that he was taken in the second round. And i remember even the at the time the alcohol at we were hearing murmurs that he could have been. Potentially the falcons first round pick in two thousand eighteen. of course. i didn't turn out that way when they got him in. The second round of people like aw man like you noted that he's a steal this guy is gonna be a starter and lot people really big on his upside and i think this is where the hype is carried over into his career. And it's not fair to the player. Had they drafted someone like him in the fifth round. I feel like you'd be looking his career and saying oh yeah yeah we're we're getting decent value for him instead i think it's that the hype in the draft positions such a great point. All right to the rookies. The falcons drafted to this year. And this is. I think really interesting one. They clearly drafted for special teams and the other one were starting to hear that. He's showing up more and more camp talk about him. I in that is darren hall San diego state university. He is someone that Silver scouts at alchoholic eric robinson wrote a piece on him They really like what they see all the time. I think If i remember He's he's got a ton of experience Playing in college He is someone that fights through the receivers hands so he's really good at getting that ball out and his ball hawk. He's got the tag sort of as part of his career..

"Dot com. All right we're back. Just walk around. The alcohol podcast. So we're talking about what to look forward tonight in the falcons. First preseason game going up against the titans in atlanta. We talked about the offense in the first half top defense. I want to start in the trenches guys like grady jarrett tyler. Davidson highly unlikely. They're gonna play again if they play. It's going to be one series at most. The guys i think are going to be really getting some significant opportunities in this game number. One player that i think last year many of us were hoping he would have a bigger role but injuries and covert and and all of that sort of contributed to a lackluster rookie season. That's marlon davidson. All signs are that this guy is coming to camp in great shape He looks like he's ready to take on a bigger role in his second year I expect to see him. Play a significant number snaps in this game So definitely look for him as one of the key players to watch in that defensive line rotation likewise sort of one of the guys in this draft classic keeps getting forgotten about to quan graham. I think he's also going to get some opportunities. Maybe more in the second half of the game to show what he's capable of haven't heard much about him in camp again you know. He's he's a day three rookie. So i think expectations going in. We're load begin with but he's a player that's got again. This long wingspan. Some potential for growth in upside down the road Be interested to see how he performs in this game. Probably again in the second. Half john kaminsky who contributed to good bit last year. I think we'll see some of him as well on that defensive line and then a name that's been flashing a lot and camp. Jonathan bullard so definitely pay attention. See if he get some snaps some opportunities and whether he's playing earlier later in the game now outside linebackers it seems unlikely that dante fowler who just recently came back in the same timeframe. Kaelin mcgarry did. He is unlikely to play so the big name here for the assad linebackers to pay attention to is add a ogan digi. He is the the one that's recently be sort of been rising up the the the the depth charts at outside linebacker. For the falcons getting some run with the ones When guys like stephen means in jacob to yo to mariner have been getting some rest ogan deja has been getting in there and apparently has been impressive. now. I don't think we can pence a starter just yet. He is a day three rookie but he is definitely named to pay attention to. And if honestly this is probably the weakest position group. On this falcons defense this pass rush is going to anchor off guys like this. So hopefully ogan deja has something he can offer more. So than like stephen means and two to t mariner because i love what those guys can as rotational pieces. But as starters. I just don't think the quality is there so hopefully ogundipe can surprise us definitely named that. I'm going to be keyed in on linebacker. Dion jones lucon probably again as as veterans. Not gonna play a ton of snaps. Michael walker the rookie from last year. I think he's going to see a lot of action. He had a promising rookie season with limited snaps. He played about one third. The snaps of what dion jones did during the season but walker is someone that i think has got some upside. Sounds like he's had a good training camp. He will probably get a lot of snaps in tonight's game and then passed him during ethridge and rural thompson again to other names to pay attention to that linebacker spot. Now the corners. Aj rail has been tearing up camp. Will we see much of him tonight. I don't know you know. He played an entire season last year. He's not yet quote unquote a veteran. This is only his second year. I think we will see him out there somewhat but maybe not as much as some of the other younger guys so probably see a series or two with aj trail out there Fabien moreau probably not gonna play. I think really the guys. We're going to get a really good long. Look at chris williamson. darren hall avery. Williams williams is also in competition for that punt returner spot. So we're probably going to see a good bit of him on special teams as well Williamson has been a guy. That's flashed a lot in camp. Let's see if that carries over to an actual game. He is a definite name to pay attention to that. Could be part of the rotation if he can keep it up and again you know. This is really the first opportunity for many of these guys who've made a name for themselves in count show that translates into the game and williamson is one name that has really popped recently. Now the to starting safeties. Eric harris drawn harmon both veterans again. Maybe you see him for a series. But i think this is the perfect opportunity to get guys like jalen hawkins last year's rookie Safety in the only carryover safety from the dan quinn era. We lost three of our safeties. As you remember. Richie grant our second round draft pick. This year is probably going to see a ton of playing time in this game Tj green who has been getting snaps and both safety and a quarter. He is someone to pay attention to hear. I think he's one of those players that this coaching staff loves. They love the versatility of him being able to move from safety to corner. So let's see how he does with that in the game so definitely at the safety position. Pay attention to the jail. Hawkins richie grant and even some of the guys behind them and whether or not they can make a case for themselves but right now it seems like the two primary names because they could legitimately get some snaps during the season and significant. Ones are grant hawkins. Pass that to finish off. you know. We talked about special teams the kick returner. Spot is clearly oro. patterson's. I don't think there's going to be any competition there. We know he's he's a dynamic returner and kick returns but from a return standpoint It sounds like it's down the chris rowland and every williams and williams in college was just explosive at the position. So definitely something to pay.

"I'd agree with you. I'd say if you look back at pisa's defenses in tennessee which are the two most recent examples The third safety both years he was there played about thirty percent of the snaps defensively. So he certainly going to use all three of these guys. I think that you know your hunch about harmon being sort of the the most reliable guy. The guy that's gonna play. The most. I think is going to be borne out and i think with grant versus harris. It's just a question of where grants at to start the season. I think if he has impressed the coaching staff enough and shown that he's ready to go right away. They're gonna want that playmaking in the lineup. And i think he'll end up being. You know the defacto starter with harmon with harris picking up you know again. Like thirty. Forty percent of the defensive snaps. They'll have some three safety sets will rotate these guys around but To me you know my expectations for richie. Grant or probably. Second or third to two. Eric robinson's. He's really excited about his potential. But i think he's going to be a really good player I think he'll be a really good player as soon as this year. And i do think by the end of the summer will force his way into a quote unquote. starting job. just depends on how peace is going to roll this thing out. Yeah yeah i. I agree there for sure. It speaking of secondary players. We have question for don emery don. Thanks for tuning in man. We appreciate you. He says Who was at cornerback to today. I mean outside and monroe again. Moreau seems to be very much the favourite for that spot But it does give me an opportunity to talk about another Corner who has been really impressive foreign. That is fourth round. Rookie darren hall. Who over the course of the last two days has broken up. I think more targets towards kyle pitch than anyone else. Holsters played pits really aggressively. Doesn't stand outside or anything like that. But he's just really aggressive with kyle pits. And that's i think worked well. Because i don't think the cortex are used to to kind of putting the ball you know where all mikhail pits can get it yet. So there's been some overthrows there's been some really nice tight throws but Halls being able to get his hands on some of those balls. And i think he's he's coming around very quickly So i think darren hall is definitely someone to watch us as a guy who could Make his way onto the first team. Either at outside or inside corner quicker than we would expect for a fourth round pick but yeah Other guys i know Adam holloway the chat. Mitch and chris williamson. He had an interception yesterday off a tipped pass. And i think he has been you know of the other corners. The guys working with the second team unit. Other than maybe darren hall. Who's kind of splitting work. chris williamson seems to be the most impressive. So far Zia what do you think about. Darren hall impressing dave. Do you think he's got a chance to work his way starting lineup or do you think he'll just be kind of like the first man up and the rotation i think he'll be i man up not because i don't believe in his talent. But i think the falcons are probably going to go the more veteran starter to start things off I don't have any particular reason to believe that. Other than the fact that they have you know talked up oliver quite a bit. I think they have expectations for how they're gonna use him. And i think you'll see something like terrell and moreau outside and oliver inside quite a bit. I do think they'll find a way to get hall on the field. And i think it's a really good sign that he's playing so aggressively this early on because i think his aggressiveness and his ability to make plays on. The ball is one of the big things they liked about him. So if you're if you're darren hall and you're challenging kyle pits and training camp like sheriff's training camp but that's a really good sign for your future and i think long term. He's definitely going to push starting job. I just think this year he'll probably be the teams defacto top reserve And i don't know what that means you know especially with every williams expected to get a job. Maybe with chris williamson pushing a little bit. I don't know what that all means for. Kendall sheffield and. I don't know if you him out there and all but he's the guy have a tougher time figuring out you know it. Is he going to be able to really push for a starting job or is he. Maybe even getting pushed off the roster. I just don't know. Yeah i mean i think can sheffield does have a lot of competition Sheffield has booked up and they list him at db they listed couple players at db. I think in years past when the falcons listed someone at db on the roster. I think they didn't bother updating it in and it was an error This this coaching staff is very specific about where they list players. They don't i don't think they less people wrong. So there were three players. Listed at sheffield was one of them. Tj green and other one. Who i think is mostly a safety. But i think maybe those are players that they vision having kind of maybe a slot defender role versatile role And sheffield has kind of been what he's been thus far. Which is he'll have some flashy place yet. Pass up today I think he had a nice pass. Break-up in eleven on eleven yesterday and then he will get burned Inexplicably for someone with four three speed. Like i think try remember who was who burned him today. That i didn't think like shouldn't have been able to that. I think it was like What was it. I'm swelter to my tweets here but it was a. It was interesting to see that he was not you know. He doesn't seem to yes. Christian blake who beat him to outfielder christian blake not really burner Blake didn't manage to bring the catching but it just You know that's kind of what i think. Sheffield at this point. He's kind of a high variance player. And it's possible that dean pees is more amenable to sort of play style because this is going to be an opportunistic defense. It's probably gonna be relying on turnovers more than we would like to keep things from getting out of hand but That's kind of what i've seen from. Sheffield thus far is just a little bit up and down. Yeah i know it seems like oliver obviously has had his moments tabu. Which is i. i always. Whenever i see isaiah oliver's name a tweet i'm like here..

"A few plays later when he caught a pass down. The sideline just turned right into shop. Building just lowered the shoulder of the alley. Yeah and Darren hall to Was one on one with kyle pits in coverage and he was able to jar the ball out On that as well so that was very nice and aj terrell hot one against russell gauge where you know just wonderful technique and a great instinctive job by him just using the sideline as an extra defender kind of shadowed gauge. And you know he stewarded him right toward the sideline and then he. He just went in aggressively and got his hands on the ball right as it was getting right as it was. It was getting their russell gauge. How to couple of of drops today. Which wasn't wasn't too promising. The see was on a on a red zone drill and it was funny to see an you. You can tell. There is a clear very clear wide receiver hierarchy because for much of the practice wall. The rest of the wide receivers were doing their own drills. Calvin ritalin russell gauge what the quarterback and it was just those two yup working on on some red zone passes so it's clear that gauge and readily are the one in two. There's no competition for the wide receiver to at least not yet right i. It's it's very very established that gauge will be the wide receiver to and then it's every other wide. Receiver is fighting for the other spots. And i'd say zacchaeus right now. Portland has a slight edge or that role. Yeah before three wide receiver sets but Yeah definitely he. He had a a drop in drill. And then a drop in one of those love. Nine eleven drill so you know it was one of those things where It's it's probably. It's probably a bit of ross. It's still early on in training. Camp darby also had an unpromising drop. But you know it's it's not something to look to too hard into but it's definitely telling that Ridley engage are just off to the side by themselves with the quarterbacks working working in the red zone there there had shoulders ahead of everyone else. Yeah yeah it did definitely seem like zacchaeus Was was like pretty much always that there may end up and he was very impressive today. the rest of it seems pretty wide open. You know i know yesterday Tori mcelhinney from the athletic was very impressed with with chris. Christian blake And he was definitely in the mix still today Who really stood out to me. Honestly was undrafted wide. Receiver austin trammell And you know it's it's hard to distinguish yourself when you're you know five eight wider sear but He was actually getting return. Work today. he was not previously in camp And you can see why not a burner necessarily but his elusiveness. You could tell you. Could you could see why he gets You know west welker edleman calms. He models his game. After wes welker is what he said in an interview because he's he's extremely shifty He he's very explosive and again he doesn't have burner speed but was consistently creating separation and he got first team reps in first team. Looks you know. He caught some passes for matt. Ryan looked impressive. He was another guy in that. Open field tackling drill that juke somebody out of their shoes So very impressive guided said to me was. Was there anybody else on offense that that stood out to you on all we talked about pits Pity did standout yet. You know he. He very much stood out. I liked what. I saw the entire unit as a whole Tweeted that out. It seemed like every single running back. These one standout play. That kind of you know. Drew the attention of everyone in attendance. Mike davis had Mon mike davis hadi touchdown down on the sideline and then he had another fantastic spin. Move later on when there was the there is absolutely like nothing. Yeah yes so yeah. Continue with what you're saying on not about the running backs thanks goes Thanks for letting us know behind the way so we just talk for like five minutes with anybody hearing it. you Quadra ellison he got a little bit of work with the first team. Looks to be the second string running back. At the moment he had a great play where he completely reversed fields After after there was nothing in front of them just went back the other way and god a good bit of yardage from that. Jv on hawkins how to touch down at a very elusive very shifty. Move and then he just outran the spending the speed on display right there. That hoskins is definitely. He's not your run of the mill. Undrafted free agent like this is someone who should have been dropped by somebody yup He's someone who is very very impressive in college and you know i. I definitely think he's gonna to stick on the roster and i think it's wide open from even move up the depth chart even up to a running back to eventually. I'm not saying it's going to happen right away. But he seems like a one of those great like change of pace lightning type. Running backs can really kind of you. Know maybe catch a defense You know on its toes and catch it off guard Then you ed cordero. Patterson he had a couple of nice runs as well Patterson you know you got a little bit of work And at wide receiver here and there but mostly mostly as a running back. I think patterson will mostly be running back specially with maybe especially signing joma more jamal more like he visibly looks a lot bigger than everyone else. you didn't do anything really to stand out today. Was he. is the big bodied wide receiver. And and you can tell you can tell the difference in physical stature between him and the rest of the wide receiver for him and tajiks sharp. Were pretty clearly be biggest wide. Receivers out there you know. Corre patterson doesn't really work with the receivers and drill so you don't see him he'd he'd be up there for sure but Yeah it's Support for this episode comes from forward. Most people go to the doctor for the one offs like rashes and colds. And your annual flu shot but doctors can do more. That's why you need forward. Their doctors go beyond.

"I don't think it's necessary that we have a back at running back to a An accomplished receiver. Because that's something. It's not something that Arthur smith seemed to really care about through passionate about now granted. He had the best running back the game or one of the best running backs in game and that just wasn't part of what he did So i think that actually bolsters the case for listen and you know as a reminder to seven calm when he came out was not considered to be a great receiving back and between years one two he really improved that aspect of his game and in two thousand sixteen really had a phenomenal season in that regard. I'm not saying olson's gonna make the same kind of leap you know. That's really that would be way to behold but i think is maybe finally getting a look from this coaching staff. Ironically the win that didn't draft him because the one that did draft him never seem to know what to do with him and to be honest. i'd love to hear what erin has since he is from pitt and aaron is a guy i never understood why they drafted him in the first place. Angry it it. It didn't make sense but maybe this new coaching staff see something in him that Dan quinn and his guys. Didn't i mean being a pit guy. I actually thought he was the second best running back on that team that he was on. Know all this sort of combination with those two guys at pitt. And i thought darren hall was better. Nfl prospect but obviously olsen has managed to stick a lot longer in the nfl and their hair cut as an undrafted free agent. Two years ago. I don't think he's been back in the league I you know. I think what's going to be interesting with this running back battle and i feel like when you have a player like mike davis who. You're talking about not catching this offense not to running back lot. Mike davis is all the receiver. That the falcons needed that position. Like you know it would not be a shocker to me. If mike david has like sixty or seventy catches this year based off of his past production in that arena. And so you might see a stark change from what arthur says offenses traditionally been. Because you know. It's not to say the derrick henry was a poor pass catcher but obviously throwing the ball. Derrick henry is not as effective as handing the ball off to him. That's kind kinda. How tennessee used them But i think what's to be interesting about this running to battle is because you would think because of mike davis you would want a running back. That's a little bit more of a a complimentary guy so a guy like a cordeiro patterson. That's a little bit more juice. Jv and hawkins as a little bit more jews. Those would be the types of guys that you would traditionally look at and say okay get this big bowling ball and mike davis Who's the next best option to complement him. And those guys make a lot of sense. But i think would often becomes the case in the. Nfl is your value as a running back is not necessarily what you do as a runner. But what you do in the passing game and that's not exclusive to catching the football. It's about pass protection. You got these thirty million dollar quarterbacks. And you've got to protect those guys in these sort of six mam productions with the running back at six guy and if you have a liability and that's i think that's been a real issue for players like olsen and brian hill anita smith. He's last couple of years which was part of the reason. Why the falcons chose not to trade devante freeman midway through the twenty nine hundred season. Because they couldn't trust any of these other young running backs to be able to keep matt ryan upright. And so i think when you look at all listen comparative to players like patterson and hawkins even though olsen is unproven in that arena. Patterson really has no experience as a pass protecting running back. he's always been a wide receiver. He's always been a pass catcher when he's been utilized at the running back position and jv and hawkins you know as talented as explosive as he is at one hundred eighty three pounds and that usually is not a good recipe for success. If you're going to have to pick up players like brian burns and shack bear. You know blitzing or devon white blitzing up the middle. It's not necessarily that. You really want in that situation. So i think olsen given his size isn't giving his physicality given at least a little bit of experience doing that. I think does potentially give him a leg up so that when it does come time to to pull my day off the field. You're going to want a guy that at least when you decide to throw the ball in those instances can keep matt ryan cleaning. Keep him upright. So i didn't you know that's really where potentially could separate himself from the pack and and really be the rb to that they're looking at. Yeah no. I think that makes sense to me. The pass protection is very very important and it's often overlooked. I think by fans analysts. Who are you know. I i love. Jv and hawkins love his potential. You know. I think he's a guy that will get snaps and we'll have a role this year but i just don't know how big that role will be. We don't really know if he can pass protect. We believe he can catch the ball. You know don't is from nbc sports edge on here who loved jv. Hawkins basically told people not to worry about the fact he didn't have a lot of catches. It was more of a sort of function of the offense you know in high school played receiver and his his catch rate in college was like seventy or eighty percent so this is not a guy who has a problem catching the football..

"The course of the evening. But yeah i know. A lot of folks are hoping for justin houston. Melvin ingram seems to be sort of narrowing down his options. And the falcons don't appear be one of them. Which isn't totally shocking. For the reasons that you know aaron mentioned you know too expensive. Most likely the falcons probably aren't looking to spend a ton of money there so It'll be interesting to see who they land on. You know careers guy but there are a lot of other like veteran like reliable veterans. There's like jubal sheared trent murphy. Who's getting up there. Certainly but these are guys that have played solid roles as edge to and threes over the years and in atlanta. That would probably they'd probably be good enough to be the second edge at this point. Maybe maybe they're better than dante. Fowler to for being honest but so yeah well. We'll see how that goes. hopefully somebody comes in. that's somewhat competent and the pass rushes and a complete disaster. But we've talked about it. Dean pisa's isn't as relying on like having the star edge guys. He likes to kind of cobble it together and make it work with a bunch of guys getting a few sacks instead of two guys getting a lot of sacks in we've heard that story in atlanta over the years and it's generally hasn't worked out super so maybe maybe like fifteen times the charm you know we'll see but man all right well on on a lighter note i'm really triggered. Yeah very triggered now. So i gotta you know totally reset here but yeah. There's a lot of interesting battles to talk about going into train. Camp a lot of interesting things this off season with the completely different offense coming under arthur smith with defense is probably not going to be that different in terms of actual plays but in terms of style going to be very blitz. Heavy errands pointed out on his show. People probably forget the facts were fairly blitz. Heavy once he morris took over. So it's going to be more like the second half of last season as opposed to the first half in terms of what the defense looks like. But let's let's go around the horn and get get started with some some spicy training camp predictions. You can basically make about whatever you want. I won't say it has to be about a roster battle. It could be whatever you want but aaron as the guest this evening. Why don't you start us off. With one of your. Your boldest training camp predictions here. Well i don't know if this is my oldest one we can warm up to it too so no no no. It's fine. I throw this out there and you guys be the judge if your oldest one i got You know i think from that. Twenty eighteen falcons draft class. The only players left on the roster. When we get to week one will be i or sixth round picks. I think some of the guys that were taken You know in round two through four obviously rounds to the fourth round guys already gone ito smith. But maybe the second third round guys aren't going to necessarily make the cut this year in large part. And if you don't know if i'm referring to talk about isiah oliver. And not. And i think in large part the reason i feel that way because i feel like the falcons drafted essentially there to replacements. In this year's draft class when darren hall for isaiah. Oliver in guam graham for deodorant sinatra. And you know when you have a new regime coming in a like their guys as opposed to the other teams guys And so. I feel like with those. Two selections are firm shots across the bow for those two individual player from two thousand eighteen draft. We know oliver showed improvement once he moved to nickel cornerback spot last year. But i don't necessarily know if that's the future of him. I feel when you look at darren hall. And what he wasn't san diego state which was purely an outside corner. But for the falcons to draft him in round four. I feel like at least what that tells me is that they really like his potential as an inside corner not necessarily because of his potential as an outside corner. And so. I feel like the falcons are going to want to get him. Started as a nickel cornerback as soon as possible. And if that's the case then i don't see the reason for the falcons necessarily keep by zia all ever because you have a player like kindle sheffield who has versatility to play inside and outside and unlike oliver Has you know a lot. More experience playing on special teams and so has been more productive in our arena. And you guys know me You know i'm big fan special teams and how much it matters to how these roster battles wind up going and then with agents to not. I feel like you know. He's been sort of the forgotten man. These last couple of years in large part due to the presence of tyler davidson being a little bit more that three four nose tackle fit. I don't see that changing under dean. Peas i think the fact that the falcons went out after the draft in picked up guys like alien coup and alevi asanga paulo and John atkins Tells you that they're not happy with their nose. Tackle depth behind davidson. And so. That's also a strong consideration. Why tonight is probably on the bubble. So when i'm looking at this twenty eighteen draft class. I think it's going to be once we get the week. One is going to be calvin ridley russell gaijin in foia lagoon. Obviously the three players that so far out of draft class have you know outperformed expectations or at least maybe in calvin released case lived up to expectations And so i think you'll start to slowly see these former draft classes at thomas dmitrov starting with that two thousand eighteen draft class start to get pushed out the door. And then we'll see sort of what happens with the twenty nineteen guys you know. You're from that. Yeah no. I think that's. That's a very interesting tact. They really have a ton of defensive tackles in general like i think the depth. That's one of the few positions. I think were the depth is actually like really solid. And there's actually a pretty good competition for some of those spots but it's it's hard to slot indigenes sonata dare. It's hard to to see how he'll fit in there without a really exceptional camp. So if he doesn't have that he's not the draft pick anymore and it seems like even the people that drafted him didn't really wanna play them. So you know i. It's interesting that he stuck around. That team didn't move on from him. Despite like you said bringing in guys like apu and atkins and i would have been surprised if they ended up drafting nose tackle as well. It didn't do that but that is an interesting one in the oliver. You know the big thing is financially. They would save over two million by cutting oliver. So if they do. Think that darren hall basically gives them you know ninety percents of oliver at half the cost..

"Somehow to contract year it's a contract year for fowler. He's probably get twelve sex right. not in. your contract is laced with yes. It is how they structured his contract. That's what they should have done with vic beasley. Yep yep but you know we won't. We won't rehash that. I was just getting over that but yeah so i think you can tell yourself a story like the defense is good enough you know. It's like sixteenth seventeenth average and the offense is great. And then it's like okay. This is like a playoff team. Then i think you also look at the low end and say like oh well. The offensive line is a big problem. Because i think that's going to be achilles heel of the offense and we're gonna talk about that in just a second for the next big questions running the offseason. But like i think the offensive line is a big problem and the defense just towns just not there like tries his damnedest and i bet usually blitz heavy teams perform. Well the first half and then teams kind of figure out your blitzes halfway through the year and the blitz aren't quite as effective later. It's like it's like the defense starting out and being okay. But then they. They don't have the the horse's like you said to really take it to good offenses and good offensive lines. And these got these offenses can handle the blitz and the defense just doesn't have the talent And then you're looking at a team that's probably seven ten. Even if i think the offense is i think is good for them to be as bad as they were last year. I don't think i think they're going to win games. Just because they can score people. And i guess we'll see how that goes but the defense of the ball one thing i'm looking for this year member for turnovers by because i'm not. I'm not looking at this unit as a complete unit. That can just straight up. Get a stop when they need it or straight up. Limit a good office a team for three or four quarters. I can't foresee them being that. But one thing. I want to see happen. And you know what some of the personnel moves that they made on defense. A they've added you know their gain is predicated off of getting the ball You know like. We brought up ritchie graham before darren hall from pick out of out of san diego state around harmon on those guys. Their game is centered around. Just being in a right place right time creates a staff of one thing. I'm looking for for defense this year. Everything else the sax the pressures whatever points per game. Whatever is that's one award is about. I need to see his defense. Crazing damn turnovers. Because pretty much the entire dan quinn era. They couldn't get a turnover to save their life. Yeah yeah one. Last year they were got a key. Fourth quarter turnover. Yeah i mean did they. Just they've been bad turnovers lately except for that one year. What casey had like seven but those two thousand eighteen right or two thousand seventeen lou. That was obviously yes. Yes it was fun but you know anytime. Anybody gets. Seven interceptions definitely luck to some extent. But you gotta turn overly. I'm sorry i don't mean to bring it back. Why did you do this erik. We're having such a good time. Well that's a good way to good time to segue here. I know corey was asking you about guys. Yeah please you liked subscribe. We appreciate that. I know it's the slow season Any any new folks that happened to be here with the real degenerates in the heart of the dead zone. Thank you for tuning in. We hope you stick around because we got lots of great content coming like i said we'll have some live training camp content coming. I'm not sure. I'll be able to actually streamed the practices. I doubt i could do that but i can. Come to you immediately after practice ends and tell you exactly what happened all the things that i observed i thought were important And it's going to be real in depth coverage we try to get pictures and little video snippets usually. Don't get too upset about that. But you know we'll see what the rules are this year. And then guys. You can tip inclined. There's lincoln to show description can also do exclamation point tip. That will send you the link as well and of course check out the patriot page. That is at patriotair dot com slash alcoholic live. And we're going to have some good content coming there we're in talks with keenan forni about perhaps a offensive line film review series that we're going to do for patrons during the season so maybe you know on a monday or tuesday after the game as soon as they put you know. Game pass up can have keen and on to do a patriot. Show for that patrons. We'll get to see it. Live and ask questions. We will still be sending the show to everyone. You know we we wanna make sure everyone has access to the content but it will probably be the next day or something like that and so if you wanna actually talk to keenan and you know. Get his inside stuff like that. Got to be a patriot for the people but definitely look forward to stuff like that. And then the next q. And a. session. I believe will be next friday but we will keep you updated with how that goes so again. Thank you guys so much for all of your support. Thank you to all of our patrons and everybody else everyone tips. Everyone who comes in hangs out. We appreciate you guys so next topic. It is the offensive line eric. How concerned should we be that. Josh andrews appears to be the heavy favorite to start at left guard. Now let's keep in mind that this is before training camp even started so you know there's a lot of time but should we be very concerned if he has a hell of a training camp and impresses and has a great preseason I'll back off of it but oh yeah no with that question right now. I'm concerned man. I really am i. I.

"Be honest with the i know it. It like riles people up. And i didn't have making the roster and he's not. I don't think he's necessarily like not going to make the roster. But i think it's certainly something that should be on people's radar thing. Yeah i don't think what no offense. No great great athlete. I think he deserves to be on a roster but all all he does is run very does run extremely fast. That's what he has. He has good sized too. I mean i think he plays her two hundred so he's got to see. Has it helped. The graham statler techniques need still need some polish Niessen polish heating bala tracking abilities still needs some polish again. The only league thing do very well is he can run as it sounds like a special team has sound like a key guy. You're cornerback rotation. So i think he'd really is fighting force. Flatman is not a guaranteed. Unless you're things yeah. So yeah. So i i like that. We are also hearing. Is oliver getting the first chance in the slot. Play a lot better there. Yeah so you know. That's that's cool. avery. Williams and darren hall. I don't you're the one that's watch holiday. You think he's more of an outsider slot guy in the nfl. I think hall was more of a balaji corner hall is is going to be the one that's gonna give sheffield a fight for that russia spot. I think halls gonna make the roster. It'd be now he's you know he's gonna saying like if if sheffield wants to stay on the roster he's gone best that's one guy that he's going to have to be better than and i'm not quite sure he will be to be honest with you. darren hall is the what darren hall has that jeff doesn't show is this stakes are gonna stand out or did he ever harbor interception already at some point otas rookie navy. Maybe that yeah. I think he was the one that did come down with something like his first. The first or second Rookie minicamp so it was like this right there. He's already showing went as better than kenosha. Yeah that's the thing like an indian. Ps defense you just gotta be opportunistic. And like i think. Ship dan quinn. You know. Valued athletes at corner a lot. More and i think we've seen from the two picks the falcons had they went after guys. Who were ball hawks. Some guys that are opportunistic. Because i think the fa- dp and the facts understand like look. We're not going to out talent. He went on defense especially this year. So like we just need to come up with like a turn if we can average like one turnover a game better like that might be enough for our offense like if our offense is what we think it can be and we can run the ball a bit better like we might not need to be a great defense. We just need to create a turnover to shorten the game a little bit and then we could get by with blitzing and kind of covering up in papering over the weaknesses on this defense by being aggressive. And look. we're gonna make mistakes too. But i think that's the best strategy so we said that after the draft we pointed out the fact that what they have in the secondary right now are are a number of guys that are able to capitalize on turnovers because of their ball skills. This is going to be a. We may not see a guy that has the visit sax this year. I'm willing to bet that. But i think we'll ps is going to try to incorporate. Is that aggressive front. Seven and a back in a secondary that is able to make those plays. Because again you're going to see you wanna see some rush throws you're going to see some overthrows piracy's and tip passes. You're gonna see some some quarterbacks that are fluster trying to make a play and on backing unique guys that can turn into receivers with the ball near. And that's what they did with darren hall and enrichment so yeah. Yeah so it's yeah. I think the secondary is kind of coming together a little bit. I mean. I think it's gonna be great. But you know as opposed to where we stood after they cut ricardo allen. And let walk. And let davante as you walk like. It's doron harmon. Richie grant eric harris eight. That's decent three safety group. Like i mean it's not maybe the highest end group in the nfl but it's very versatile. All three of those guys can play in the box poor deep or cover to look so they can move around like the. Mp's likes you know. I think the corner group is not great. I mean we'll have to see how the rookies do. And i do think they make another addition cornerback or a linebacker. Probably the two most likely spots that are maybe edge on defense but like like. Jc jackson would be perfect like that. I think would really take this over the edge. You don't have to force fabian. Moreau to star outside. But i think they'd be moreau's probably better as like your corner three your primary backup and then you. Can you have oliver in the slot or whoever but more rose. I think i think so. Too honestly. like marc mckee's farm jesse jackson. But yeah right is. He's not he's not. You know a special type of talent but you know. He's i think he's gonna be just fine out there he. He played very well at times in washington on edge it was it was the slap where they try and the washington try to make him be a slot corner in s mathis day. And and that's where he that's why he went awry I think a like a monday or manage. Yeah yeah. I liked that a lot better to see. We'll see what darren hall and avery williams. Like i don't know if he's going to get a lot of run on defense this year but i think they're going to see what they have and see if they can trust him to play the slot in the future. Maybe he's a guy that just needs more experience. I think but. I think his freshman and sophomore year. She had eight and nine pass deflections in each year. So he's a guy that can get his hands on. The football size is really his thing. So we'll see if We'll see if he can carve out a role too. But yeah i mean williams's path will be special teams and we haven't heard too much about how that competition between him enroll into going. But i think darren hall. Probably pretty safe kendall sheffield. Is someone who we talked about. Probably going to have to show something in camp. Unless he's banking on them keeping six corners which we know dean pees likes to run a lot of three safety stuff so you know them. Keeping six is not a guarantee they might want to keep five safeties. Tj green guy. A lot of people don't know he did. Green is a good player. Like he's he's a decent. You know extra safety and they still jalen hawkins too so they might want to keep five safeties. I think a lot of that also is going to depend on. And we got. We just got done with this. What is not the result of a. Julio trade is far as clearing that castaways because they get the cap space that they're looking for they're going to have some extra cash to to bring in some free agents all season and you're still a couple of guys at there on on the market as safety that i think you know the team may give a look me cooker is one guy that comes to mind Often injured but you know if he's healthy and he's he's able to incorporate those ball skills as well right. He's going to be a nice pickup for this offense secondary month. Yeah i agree. I agree so all right next. Topic left guard battle. One of the most interesting battles most important battles of training camp so far it looks like josh andrews is leading the competition which is surprising because like we said like twitter. He's a veteran. he's probably going to get the first crack just because of experience but Evan i'll let you get a word in here we just been talking. But what do you think about the left guard battle so far..
