"It's just how it happens. And i think it's something to maybe look at. What the forty niners situation. Because jimmy garoppolo is marketable and replacing jimmy garoppolo with sam darnold is not easy sell from a business standpoint. In my opinion now. I don't think that's why you should ever make a decision. And i don't think that's why the forty niners will make a decision in this case but i do think it's an angle of the nfl. A lot of people forget to look at. If you're analyzing you've got gotta look at every angle in. That's one angle that i think you should take a look at and i because i've been trying to figure this out all off seats wire fans so attached to jimmy garoppolo when he really hasn't done that much in his nfl career. And i think what you just talked about is all part of it right. They acquired jimmy g. Handsome looks so good. They made a big deal about jimmy g. He's coming to the bay area. You got this young good looking guy. He's got a good personality. Smiles all the time and they played right into that with all the marketing and all the jimmy g. q. All that stuff. That i think has helped sort of bond him with the fans in san francisco plus of course the super bowl berth. And that's why. I think you've got people that are so attached to this guy when really he doesn't warrant that kind of love right. I mean tooth. it's really to within. it's the fact that he's really well spoken. He's really kind. He doesn't he doesn't seem to be diva. There's not much fuss about him. I think that's one thing to. He seems to be extremely well received and well liked amongst his players and coaches in peers and well respected. That's something that like. There's never been a player. That's come out and said anything bad about jimmy garoppolo with the forty niners to think that's a testament to the players that the forty niners have gotten the three years but i think it's also testament to jimmy garoppolo in the effect he has on other people and then the third thing to me is that is that record and i think that people really need to put the record pass them. Because i don't think you i or anybody else who says that the niners can do better than jimmy garoppolo or saying that he's worse than nick mullins. Cj beathard. i think we both. We all wholeheartedly agree that he's a much better player than either of those guys. The question is that the level of player he is. Is that good enough when the team starts not as ideal situation as it was from playcalling standpoint from a personnel standpoint in twenty nineteen. Y'all i mean that's clearly what it is the fact that when he's been hurt his replacements have been so horrible makes people long for the days when jimmy garoppolo could throw his passes. Behind the line of scrimmage that depot and tear into like first downs. Because they're incredible. But i said you know what i said. We weren't going talk quarterbacks anymore and we're right back here so that's it we don't mean yes. That's the penalty. the show is ending now. Sorry everybody we'll try and do better next time this. We really appreciate you coming on with us. I really appreciate it. I wanted to talk to you. I set for a long time. "Both sides might include whatever the case is but they can't do it. I think that they should do it. That they should throw the value chart to the wind and make the move. I don't know if they ever will do that. Which makes me wonder how they're going to end up with the franchise quarterback so two things you brought up here. That were very interesting to me. The one thing is the first thing about shawn watts. So you asked me this question. Two months ago. I'm a big value chart guy. I like analytics as much as i like watching football and all that so i would have said no. Will you know three first round picks couple of defensive starters. All bad is too rich to mean that went out that that that logic is of thrown out the door. Because it's desperate time. Like don't wanna seem desperate. They don't wanna admit they're desperate but they have a roster. That really has a window. Twenty twenty one. Twenty twenty twos window is still a giant question. Mark and the rams went all in push the chips that table and went and got matthew stafford. The arizona cardinals had in my opinion. Top twelve quarterback in tyler murray seattle seahawks as long as russell wilson pete carroll there. I don't know if they'll ever winning super bowl again but they're gonna win ten football games and it's needed so that means that the niners to compete they they gotta get desperate your shawn watson cap it in twenty twenty one is only ten point five two million dollars theoretically you can have the absolute most stack roster with shawn watson and twenty twenty one and don't make a run and go all in on twenty twenty one so that's one thing i wanted to say the other thing i wanted to say. Is you brought up. The idea of quarterback is one of those positions to you that go beyond value. And you know to me. It's actually one of the funniest things in sports because everybody wants to be idealistic and noble. Say you do whatever you can go. Get your franchise quarterback and then teams do whatever they can to go get their franchise quarterback and they say they paid we. The niners were smart to balk at the price. Stafford on iran's did everything they can to go get him but they were stupid. The the niners smart. Well that that doesn't wind up to me. It's it's either. You do whatever you can to go. Get him when you get him. You have to compliment the team that got him or it's because the line of thinking is whenever somebody goes all in. We criticize it puts me. What the rams are doing while it's crazy while it's something that i would never do while it's goes against everything i've ever learned in the last fifteen years of my life watching football it's respectable and commendable from the standpoint of. They really understand their their option. After treating for jaylen ramsey's either to win this year next year. Not win again. Because they don't pick they don't have capital and they don't have money to move around and so they didn't think golf was the guy they were right about that in my opinion and they went and got a guy who under On particularly very high on matthew stafford. And i'm excited to see how it turns out with them. But i think you bring up that great point that when people say i mean i'll shanahan said it when you see a guy can be one of the five best guys in the league. Do whatever you can to go down on. That guy is right there in the shawn watson. he's not be. he is one of the five best is in the league. So we'll see if they do do whatever they can to get. I just don't understand it. You don't get extra points if you win a super bowl without getting to shawn watson. it's not worth more than a super bowl that you would win if you got him and it worked out. You don't get extra points for sticking to your value chart like it's a pass fail business and the forty niners regime and i love kyle. Shanahan love him. I think he's amazing but they have failed basically pretty spectacularly for three out of the four years. Let's be honest like there's no other way to put it. I know this context and circumstances there. And i get it. But the rams strategy is working they renting. They're going to the playoffs. The forty niners are not and they're not even that close really so i just. I hope that they see that. It's time like you said kind of to get desperate to make a move because just doing what you're doing. Hope is not a strategy. The big thing for them is. I think i think like this context of talking about what's matters organization to organization right. He's not the right fit for every organization. The reasons the right fit for the niners is because there isn't a long term plan here with the forty niners. They're still not committed to jimmy garoppolo so even if they run it back. Bring a ton of guys back. They're still not one hundred percent. Restructuring garoppolos contract insane. He's the.

"And I always thought that you did, Tom I just don't know why Mr Announcer guy feels as though that we have to separate ourselves by still aside, Tom and ride. Larry wants to hear some a C D. C. Can I listen to a C D? C? What do we have to leave? Why do we have Get out of my sandbox wants to hear some Motorhead. Yeah, Guys, get out. You heard the man beat it. Ah, Hey, This is kind of a weird Niner Giants game coming up this weekend and that we don't know who's going to really Get the ball for either team in this game because it's like All the guys that they normally would go to Sterling Shepherd say. Quan Barclay, Tevin Coleman, Raheem Mostert, George Kid old DeBose. All these guys aren't going Mom's gonna guess that Jordan Reed Brendan, I yuk. Trent Taylor. Dante Pettis. I'm kidding about the Dante Pettis Park for the first three guys. I mean, I feel pretty confident that there is going to have balls thrown in their general direction, running back wise. Who do you guys think it's the carries Because they don't help. They'll have one. Jeff Wilson Jr. Who's really good on the goal line. They'll have McKinnon, who You know, there's a better receiver than runner and they may I guess. Call up Michael Hasty. They signed Austin Walter to the practice squad today. Anything you can tell them. Tell the Jets. McKinnon's a better receiver than runner. Yeah, exactly. Busted one of it for about 80 yards on three or four. Care. Think I tore them up? But he is not a guy You want to give the ball I Wilson seems like a guy that could handle a lot of carries a pretty big guy. Ah, but that's a great question. I'm just amazed me. To be honest, I think I love tasty at Baylor. You guys watch Baylor ball last year. This guy was incredible. I mean, how much to the offenses? He no. I mean, Is he comfortable with it? It's just getting He went to camp with him, so he should know. Yeah, I mean that that kind of stuff. I don't know. I don't know, does it? I mean, how does it affect their game plan? Do they want to throw the ball a bit more like little short passes? Move the ball that As a great question. I mean, if you're missing one, then that's okay. But missing too, with most of an Coleman Right. And then McCain and again. It's not a guy you want to give the ball to 15 20.

"Didn't seem like he is focused and ready to play <hes> yet another row aware the receiver or the cornerback houses cornerback discount ranch drive for stride with him and broke up and like a deep outright. I believe yeah just born born will bounce back i imagine but he doesn't really have a choice and i feel like every time that shanahan shanahan's mentions the wide receiver group on somebody. Stepping up is not talking about richie james. He's not talking about kendrick born. He's talking about jordan mathews or the rookies. He's talking about dante pettis and daring camp these these last r._n._c.'s last couple weeks. Something is something different with pettus and i do not mean that good way. There's been sort of like a running joke with just some of the fbi writers. We've been talking that it's it seems like whenever somebody gets a hand on pets. He's going to drop a ball which which isn't true. He's made plenty of contested place. He's made plenty of plays in general. I think he's going to be very good. I think he's going to have a good season but he's in a funk. I dunno. I don't know timothy jackson through playing at his new way. I don't know what what is up but it just it just doesn't seem like dante pettis we saw when he was on the field and regular season last year and when he was in college i mean he's still very very young but that seemed like it was either hit or miss miss. It was an all or nothing with the receivers because james who had a rough drop to start. I thought he bounced back well. He made the most of all these other opportunities. He caught all other six passes. I think it was it wasn't for too many yards but i mean he just he caught the ball and that's what you need obviously as a wide receiver so yeah the receivers questionable outside of the rookies but it's i mean it's one game next week against denver. Paddock's could go for one hundred yards born could go for fifty. There could be big plays. Maybe that remember that long play towards endgame demarche on poindexter goes up and i feel i if he's going to make this roster be stachel on the practice squad or just have a chance in the league at his at his size owes of the plays that he is going to have to make so we'll see and like i mentioned all these guys could bounce back and we could be on back on the pakistan wagon and back on all these guys hyphen them up again so yeah office wise. I thought you know i mean what was an eighteen penalties. These guys were the refs will get to the rats later but they were just not very good defensively upfront. I was actually pretty impressed. I thought the defensive line played really well. They got a good amount of pressure. I don't think you you can talk about the defensive line without talking about the mantra moore who was signed from after starring the a. f. was cut and was signed again. He was everywhere on. If you remember early in the game i think it was like third. Fourth play where mega mosey was five for that pass interference a much more actually beat his man and hit the quarterback on that plane that was like whoa he looks legit and that wasn't the only place he finished the game with three quarterback hits. I believe he had i think had him for six total. Quote unquote pressures..

"Them for free now dude albert wilson and fitz magic is an incredible frederick combo halley. I love i love it decay or no not spoke craig. My fellow lindsey were dante pettis on the san francisco forty niners <hes> she's the number one receiver on a team with jimmy garoppolo in cal- shanahan and we're gonna have fun game here known if you look at your computers neither view danny's name four wide receivers the san francisco forty niners kendrick born deebo samuel more keys goodwin who just got her today dante pettus okay and heard yeah jalen hurd. Oh god forgot about him. Jalen hurd. What's ed you talking about jalen hurd. Yes okay good you but i just that's funny. I challenge you to ask your friends at home. That's why we're on the weekend. Name trent taylor no off often. The only reason i bring it up and i'm not trying to rain on your parade craig but trent taylor has got it in a strange amount of hype lali oh. I don't think it hurt. It doesn't <unk> hurt pettit so i'm just saying it's it's to me. That's something to monitor going forward but continue with pettus anyway this last in last year from weeks twelve to fifteen. He was wide receiver eight eight and right now already. When i made the stock he was going as the water six thirty three now. He's at the wires here for thirty. One people are catching on as on there is but i i think he just clearly falls under the cellphones award of guy who you're a week nine. We're like damn dante. Pettis has shredding on an amazing offense in san francisco and they're like seven and two also jimmy garoppolo said dante's body is maturing few days ago so that's always a good sign..

"All right. My first dark night. This week Dante Pettis the forty Niners going up against the bears. This week Pettus has gone off last week. Seventeen catches three hundred thirty eight yards four touchdowns as fulltime Craig's says it. He's actually the overall number six receiver in the last four weeks, which is pretty surprising still vailable pretty widely twenty-six targets over the last four weeks. Second only to kill on the team. Nick Mullins is kinda ball on out of late and the bears while being a very good defense actually do give up quite a bit of points to posing receivers. They go up the eighth most fantasy points receivers this year last week. They held Rogers two zero touchdowns but did give up eight catches hundred nineteen dollars. Devante atom. So the match of isn't actually as bad as it might look on paper. So I like Pettus a he's kinda come into his own turned into the top receiver on that team. I mean, obviously with Kittle Kittles probably the top pass catcher. But pedestals really emerged late in the season. He's gotten healthy. And he looks really good other. I've probably still be a little bit afraid because moans isn't exactly Aaron Rodgers. But I wouldn't be playing Kittles still, but I might be a little hesitant about Pettus. But they digits lose Eddie Jackson, and I think that actually huge for their defense. They also clinched the division, and they don't have a ton of daylight with making up a first run by. So I wouldn't be shocked if they were able to get some serious garbage time stuff at the very least absolutely so low. This was your first guy I like love Damian Williams on the chiefs, you know, obviously, so Spencer whereas a hamstring injury. It's uncertain if he plays this week, but they're going against the Seahawks and Spencer wears implying. I mean, David Williams is looked fantastic. Even Spence words healthy like Damien should have the job for now in the playoffs. I mean, I think Durell Williams got the Daryl Williams Tyrrell he got the first score. But David Williams just looked better threat. He's they can do everything with him. He's great out of the backfield. These he I mean, he can run routes. You know, most of. Yeah. Yeah. He could run things downfield Nielsen he really can make guys miss and break long plays. There's nothing not to like. So last week, you know obvi-. Probably ceiling. But I you know, that's the guy. I think it's get two or three touchdowns on any given week ethics. So love that will not any given week one week that really matters. So this week how about that? But monitor Spencer ware, right? I mean, or you are you playing him if where place. No, so. Well, yes, but oh where I want to hear what they have to say. So I think that even if where is healthy enough to play or he's a game time decision. I imagined they would still monitor if Williams is getting even like half stamps. It's still think he's probably worth the flex option if whereas out altogether. I think he's like clearly like a second tier running back looking Rb to talent wise, I think he should play. It is better than where if wears out. He's one hundred percent should be interested if whereas in I'd probably still monitor because the way the chief season's going. I I imagined that they still want to prioritize keeping everyone healthy. I don't think where it's going to get the full workload this week. No matter. What? Yes. So you sitting where if you have where? It'd be I mean, it would be it would be tough for me to plan because it's not it's a lesser version of the James Connor thing for me last week. We're like even if he's going to play like how much is it gonna play Hampshire? There's like not good injuries either. Well, yeah. I mean, they can put him on a pitch county. Can you know tug it, you know, he comes out or maybe they're just going with the hot hand, it would be tough for me to really if you were playing Spencer. Where would you feel good about it? So I'm torn. But at the say, I wouldn't be surprised, but it's certainly something to monitor. You know, you got to check the injury on Friday and things. Yeah. Definitely my next guy Robert Foster the bill's going up against the patriots this week. This is a former Alabama undrafted free agent for the bills..

"More question for you. What to get another flex one here. Five guys though day, Sean Hamilton, Cortlandt Sutton, Josh Adams, Kenneth Dixon or Dante Pettis. We have an idea. How many he wants one person one player just one? It sounds. Interesting. So do we feel like Josh Adams, probably is he's sort of Gus Edwards e write us definitely definitely day, Sean, Hamilton or. Yeah. I think it's got to be one of those two guys as well, probably lean towards DeJean Hamilton, really I think that was a reverse from where we were yesterday on the conversation about those Broncos wide receivers, but got call. I think if Sutton comes in healthy, and he's going to be a go. I I would lean that way, I'm still gonna give them another week as the favourite there in Denver. Okay. I'm not I I don't know if I'd even try, you know, he's got a sore quad banged up last week, detract Sutton didn't practice Tuesday. Mhm Dixon yen. I've seen a couple of things to the past couple of days on this is a discussion about Cameron bright in how touchdown dependent he has been and then with relation to picking up, Ian Thomas, and you know, so do you have any takes on which one you feel more confident in this week? I hope it going. I break no at night. And I know we've had this discussion a lot, but flip a coin. It's actually been a few few people different people have talked about the differences there. They I've seen that too. I bright at nine and the Thomas ten so it's close. So you feel a little more comfortable Tate RIC's me with just a little safer. But I hate I hate as as an analyst in this just giving the flip a coin answer. But like gin like we are projecting things that are within our control. But there are twenty two variables in every single play. And it's hard for us to seize too much control over these once the game begins. So both like I think bright has more upside as a tight interview touchdown production because he scored more touchdowns. And I think that it's far less likely for KMart to ever have a game with ten targets. Whereas in Thomas gonna have ten targets every game for the rest of the season. And for what it's worth Baltimore has been pretty bad against tight ends. Whereas the saints have been pretty good. So maybe that breaks the tie for you. All right. So we've got a couple of minutes here to say goodbye. But man. Yeah, we Adam Schefter confirming. That news. We talked about earlier Carson Wentz. Again. The eagles are concerned that QB Carson Wentz will not play Sunday due to a back injury. Nick foles has been told to be ready source tells Adam schefters that is the news of the day coming up on Thursday..

"It's more. You know, what about Dede Westbrook because the first game we have with Cody Kessler ten targets seven for eighty eight and a touchdown playing against Washington. Who's had a good defense? Although because of what's going on with the quarterback their defense was I mean, I mean, it was forty to nothing. The giants were up on them last week DD is okay. But again, you're putting your trust and Cody Kessler in that situation. And I don't I'm looking at it as week fifteen I need to mitigate the goosing potential of David Moore or a trick wants myth as much as I need to get lucky on the upside. I mean, any of these guys, right? Randall cobb. Kenny stills Jamison Crowder. They can all score. A touchdown Dante Pettis I don't wanna get goose. Now, the headliner is still if if tyreek hill was to sit. And Sammy Watkins doesn't return which we don't expect him to then Regina, Chris Conley? With Pat Mahomes on Thursday night football. Would you take him over all the names that we've said already? Yes, I would I would I would want Pat Mahomes as the the number one wide receiver. Yes. One hundred percent till you take would you play. Chris Conley in that situation over Kennedy day at buffalo. No, no. I would still I, you know, I think Buffalo's defense is good and Kenny golladay didn't do much. But the thing is Detroit didn't need to do much against Arizona. I believe Matt Stafford threw the ball. Not completions. Threw the ball four times in the second half of last week. So yeah kindergarten. They didn't have himself a good game. Didn't need to Zack zender was like. Yeah. I can just run on the cardinals. Yeah. Everybody can do that. Yeah. Day, Sean Hamilton, are you interested? The gender wide receiver seven for forty seven and a touchdown nine targets last week. Yeah. I mean, I'm I'm interested. He was the guy that you know, picked it up against Cleveland. I mean to play him over Portland Sutton would be difficult for me. And I don't really wanna play Cortlandt Sutton. I'm interested, but I don't want my playoffs on the line here with case keenum. So now that like I genuinely I don't want over state this. But I feel like I'm a little depressed. Yeah. I don't know that wasn't for hours. That was the best -sition. Can we please go to running backs? There's so much so many better on social options at running back, and I might be able to dig myself out of this feeling okay. Let's move on running backs the players that people have a lot of doubts with this week..

"Welcome back to caviar tonight. Right. Kobe with you on a Monday another weekend of NFL action in the books and a forty Niners win to talk about here on Monday. When she just know they beat the Broncos and what was a critical game for Denver. As far as their playoff hopes. Go in the AFC so gonna break that down talk a little NFL with the man that you hear on the pre and post game show. Dennis Brown, candy are analyst and of course, Super Bowl champ with the forty Niners. Dennis what's up, man? How are you? It's amazing. How much better Monday after a win? Man. I'll be damned. I mean, we we've seen the other side of this for a long time and just three game losing streak. And I thought they needed to win for a lot of reasons. But especially considering the way they lost the last two weeks in Tampa in Seattle. It was the first time. I'd really started to hear questions asked about are these guys in over their head our guys landed on the line, you know, whereas the compete level at and I think yesterday answered a lot of those questions about what kind of grasp Kyle Shanahan has on that locker room. And you know, Kyle Shanahan kinda kinda served notice about weeks ago saying to all the guys that I'm sure he was talking to the guy, then two coaches. Who's gonna show up who's going to be the guy moving forward two thousand nineteen season is going to be a part of this because you know, to be told he's gotta be there. You've got a six year deal. He's got to be there. I think John Lynch is gonna be there. Of course, it is who's going to be the support staff, and I think a lot of guys a lot of young guys really stood up and answered the call, and they went out they played really well, and they competed, and this was this was not a Denver team that you know, the defense is kind of questionable especially the secondary passers definitely not questionable. But you know, this is a team that had a lot on the line. I mean, they're fighting or playoffs awhile carpet and some of these young guys really went out and played super. Well. Yeah. Talk about Nick Mullins in his performance. I think Nick Mullins based on everything we've seen so far. That's a serviceable NFL backup in my estimation. He's got that moxie. I think he needs to work on his pocket presence. Just a little bit feeling that rush. He got hung out to dry a couple of times pass protection. Particularly from the running back position. But talk about Nick Mullins, did we learn anything more about him yesterday. And I mean where where do you see this guy's potential as far as a career in the NFL? Well, you know, it's the NFL is so crazy. I mean, it it really is that what it's done for me lately. Two weeks ago we were saying big baller plan like a third string quarterback. But yesterday, he played up to a high level. I mean, he he was even making. I mean, the big thing about Nick, Nick Mullins is folks say that his arm strength is not there. He was making some throws to the perimeter yesterday. And I was impressed with that. You talk about his pocket presence. I think it's offensive line is really stood up. They've given him a very comfortable pocket. We all know, Nick bones gets the ball out fast. Defense. But we did yesterday that that impressed me the most he was able to find mismatches. George kiddo had a record setting day because he saw the man coverage. And he knew exactly where George kiddle was able to get him one on one with some of those those linebackers, and we're gonna dominate their time. And also Dante Pettis he's able to see the man coverage and just knowing your receiver. He's getting a little bit gel with redundant Dante Pettis, and he understand if he's out there, and you got a one to one with a with a get that quick move inside and back outside. He's gonna be wide open with that separation. So I was impressed with the way. Denver's defense. And then you know, he was sacked a couple times. But you know, they got some pretty decent outside pass rushers. But I I was impressed. I think I think at this stage right now, you know, we really need to think about who's going to be the back of next season. It's gonna be interesting during training camps. Susan citizens who's going to be the backup. She's going to be a serious. We know. Jimmy garoppolo's going to start a quarterback course healthy. Now, it's all about who's going to back them up down moments is gonna earned the right to fight for that second second quarterback position. Oh, absolutely. No. I I definitely think. So I mean CJ Beathard had his moments, but then kind of plateaued, and we almost saw regression Nick Mullins. It would be hard to replicate that I start against the raiders where it was just pinpoint. But I mean, the raiders look like a junior varsity team out there that night. But then you know, he's had some flashes. Even up in Seattle where you know, a lots of quarterbacks go up there and have a tough afternoon. I think he showed a little something something even if those worse some kind of empty calorie yards and then coming home yesterday after a couple of tough games beating a team fighting for a playoff spot with that pass rush. I thought you nailed it though, recognizing that man coverage knowing where the weaknesses in the defensive are entrusting that that all comes from Kyle Shanahan and the play designs. And I thought he implemented it very well. You've talked about Dante Pettis and I love the route. He ran on the touchdown. And he saw he was manned up that little cut inside. And then outside that's not a particularly easy throw to make. No because you've got to kind of drop it in the bucket. You know? And I thought he did that I see Pettus really grown into this role. And I think forty Niners fans, you know. I gotta understand me. He's a burner and he sustained a knee injury early in the year, which sent him back. But now four touchdowns last three weeks forty dollars traded up to get this guy in the second round. Let me ask you this. We talked about this a little bit on the pre-game show yesterday. Dennis. The number one receiver is a guy that can get you. You know, five to eight catches a game pretty consistently. You can throw them in any situation. And he's, you know, good for you know, somewhere between eighty to one hundred catches a year. Do you see that kind of ability for Pettus, or is he going to be more of a speedster guy? And maybe get you more like sixty catches a year, but they're going to be of the long variety. Well, I think first of all I think he's a talent. I think he's shown you know, he is or that second round pick. I mean he was injured early in the season with a knee injury. Now, he's fully healthy getting reps in practice. He's getting a lot of reps with his starting quarterback, Nick Mullins, and he's got to kind of grown into the physician out. Dante, you know, he he's young per year guy. He's got getting a weight room. He's gotta go. Look, more durable. You gotta you'll be dealing with some physical defensive backs. But he's still he's got that foot speed. And I think he's the I I still think the forty Niners eat a big play or a big receiver a guy like in the red zone that you can kind of an alley you too. And we can just dominated defensive defense facts. I think Dante Tennessee is gonna be a guy that you're gonna use the exit of wide receivers, you know, just just an opportunity to give him more 'isolation more one on one we can use that foot speed that quickness off the line of scrimmage because what what do you put the backs wanted to do is kinda rear? Vouches defensive back a decent decent defensive back. They wanna Janika line of scrimmage. Make you reroute. Your routes Dante Pettis has -bility to to kind of boy Dak with these quick feet that quick step inside and back outside. And he creates that separation. I like Dante is a big play guy. If marquees Gutman comes back next season. I see him. I've seen him both kind of being the big play guy. Resi Dante's Dante Pettis the kind of guy that you want to get in the middle. You know, what that separation dropped their born yesterday that he had nothing, but green grass if gets he gets a ball in oaken space because he separates that he gets that separation from defensive backs you're going to be a true threat, but he's getting the weight room. Get some pounds on him because you know, NFL, you know, your body gets pounded new defensive backs kinda wanna pound receivers on the line of scrimmage. So you just gotta get bigger gotta get stronger. And I think he's kind of understanding what his role is right now. I think this all right now is just to get open. I mean, use that athleticism and get open if you're one on one recognized one on one quarterback to recognize these wanna once and he's to get some space between him and that back, and it's going to be a big question. Yeah. He's he's got big playability written all over. And that's for sure. Yeah. You're right needs to bulk up and man if they could get that legit number one receiver. I think they got all the other pieces in place, by the way, we're talking to Dennis Brown on kmby already night. Ryan Kobe with your joining us on the gas line in another big time piece of that offense, George kindle my goodness. I just like he's born to take it to the house. He's explosive. I just I feel like this is just such a homerun pick for John Lynch. I know he's been much maligned for some of the draft picks that haven't panned out. But I think definitely George kills a guy we're celebrating. And I mean, you know, who's supposed to cover this guy. What the linebackers? He can he can out muscle. Those guys outrun them. And then the the the corners in the safeties. I mean, forget about it. Like, you're not gonna tackle that guy. When he gets in the open field killed to me just seems like a match up nightmare from the guy that played defense at the NFL level. How would you? How would you tell one of those guys how to go about bringing him down? Hey, I mean, you saw your credit cover George kettles. You gotta get a draw slack. And I think he he caused three cents penalties yesterday. I mean, he's he's one of those guys. I mean, I guess if you look at this guy he can't be that fast. Look like, I mean, he doesn't have that that bulk what you're saying. He's gonna balk me the line of scrimmage, but he doesn't both very well. I mean, he's he's great on the run. And then if he gets if he gets open, which she's gonna get open if he's one on one against a linebacker linebacker can't cover them back is not physical. Up to cover them. But what he catches the ball. I mean, this cat. I mean, I was watching him yesterday on that thing. I was just like he is fried in there. I mean, he was running. I think actually that that scary speed. It's like, wait a minute. Is he running pass me? Just tidy and running past me. So he's an athlete, and you know, he's, you know, cowshed ahead again, great play calling them by count Shanahan getting the opportunity space spaces the opportunity to get the ball. And I mean yesterday was a first of all I couldn't believe my man didn't get you know, that last four yards in the second. You get not one pass on to the second half. I thought that was that was really at play. You know, if you try to cover him, you know, because he's an athlete, and he he's a physical guy you're gonna draw penalty on decent. So, you know, you're going to see a lot more more one on one. A lotta bracket on him. It's going to be like a garage situation. But you know, again, he's a guy that can get a whole lot better feeling so high get his button weight room stand it now, you know, he's going to be a problem. And now they're gonna start kind of game plan in here. I'm, you know, your your your coverage is going to be kinda towards him. You know bracket of hammer double team in him or coverage is gonna move to him. But you know yesterday. It was interesting because you know, any decent claimed to forty hours you understand that your skittles a big part of it and still they couldn't defend them yesterday. So he's a he's a true talent. I think it's a hit on him. And he's got that savvy to I mean, he walks around his chest out, and he's very confident. And that's what you like to see especially in a tight end tight end. You know, you gotta be able to block and you've got to be able to catch and run. And he's got it. All yeah. Man. He looks like he's having a blast out there too. And you're right. He does got that swagger about him Denison. You know, there's that fine line in the NFL between. Arrogance and confidence, and he just walks that line and as long as you go out there and back it up and make plays on Sunday. I got no problem with that stuff. Endzone dances. It's supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be entertainment. So I got no problem with it. As long as you're going out and handling it. Hey, DJ read had himself a monster day yesterday. Now, I don't always like the fact that a safety leads my team in tackles. But at the same time he was getting up at the line of scrimmage twelve tackles had a sack forced a fumble. He was part of that committee. That did a terrific job on Philip Lindsey who by the way came into the game leading the NFL in rushing yards per carry and the forty Niners shut him down to the tune of just over two yards of crack..

"Dante Pettis university of Washington huskies rose bowls. Is return Punto made another fumble by James today. He recovered his own unlike Seattle last week, and then they put Trent Taylor because I think they trust Taylor. Just catch the football. But again, you're you're talking, and I don't know maybe in practice. He's not catching it either. I don't I don't know what the logic behind. It is obviously give him the benefit of the Dow because they know they're watching it every single day. But like you said, I mean, this guy's an all time NCW recordholder for punt returns. His Dante Pettis we've seen his run after the catch ability. I don't know if we're going to see him the rest of your do it. But that's one of the reasons you drafted second overall over a number of wide receivers you could've taken because he has on special teams. That's what we were told Redman made the draft is are the pig is not only could he helped the offense. But he was going to be a guy that they were going to feature on special teams. So sooner rather than they will price it. Yeah. He's got earn earners right to get back there. I mean, it it's one of those things he's got to earn it in practice. You've got to earn it when he's when he's playing receiver in the football game. Your coach has to be able to trust that he's gonna make that catch pines. But it is something he has very well. If you wanna go a Taylor because you're going with the guy with the shirt know, the most sure hands, I'm with you. But if you're going to pick James, then I'm not with it. Because I think we've now seen about. James muff a couple and look really really bad. And yeah, we did see Dante muff one early. But you know, what? This guy was the NC double A recordholder you drafted and partly in the third round are. Split. Because you thought he was a impact punt returner. What got one chance I think it might be time. It was one of those ones that you know, you're in high school. It's like your first one, you're nervous, and you're running up on it. Why? Ugly. It might be time to give them a second chance. All right. We got more straight ahead as we take this to the bottom of the hour. If you want to jump in here bang out, the number eight hundred Cambier if you're just tuning in Niners get their third one of the year..

"Rising stars for this week. I'll I'll kick it off. Yeah. Get off. We we already started talking about him Dante Pettis to continue the conversation. He's my rising star in a similar fashion to how juju was my rising star. It's what you see. It's not just the box where I realized that the box score was the box scores. Great, right. Seventy seven yards and a touchdown last week comes in this week over one hundred two touchdowns looks great. But what I the reason he's my rising star is because you're seeing on the NFL field. What you love from college. Remember he was starting to get on track before a bad injury earlier this season and that took him out. And then you know, Goodwin was back in now that he's given the opportunity and this is what the third string quarterback. Look am. I saying that Dante Pettis is someone you have to start next week if good. One is out. You don't have to. I think I think he could end up being very good star. I probably would be willing depending on your roster the schedule coming up, isn't that great? But long-term. Yeah. I mean, he is I believe he's going to take over the Goodwin role. Goodwin is never ever been a guy able to stay healthy. Not in college pros Goodwin is a guy that to me will take over the I'm the deep threat that's really where he thrives. I think pet is coming next year will be the number one wide receiver for this team. He he looked special to me. And so he he's he's my rising star. I believe long-term. He's guy you you want. I mean in in dynasty leagues, you know. Files as a you know, electric multifaceted route.

"They're gonna see how the contusion swells. They say it is not an ankle injury. And that he will be fine. That is that is the word from head coach Mike Hamlin. How do you feel about that Brooks? Sounds great. I really I I take this moment to say this. I do have Jalen Samuels. Also. Of course, you do you listen to the show. I want to just wish you incredible luck in the fantasy playoffs. I hope that everything goes your way, I'll be of great. I hope you just win. Don't. Oh. Yeah. I hope you Wayne Brooks is that's an sear. No, no. No, no. You you you crash and burn. The wide receivers. Let's talk about Dante Pettis five nine into. Yeah. We'll we'll be talking about him. Oh, you want to toss the discussion. Well, we we can talk about them now and later Mike, you brought up the fact that maybe he was good play this last week, Andy, and I weren't on board at that time Goodwin appeared to be starting. If Goodwin continues to miss for this person reason Garcia is Garson is gone. He's just he's long past loud. Yeah. That was a good one, man. Thank you. Pettus is just a really talented player a big fan of him early. You know before the year, he's one of my favorite rookie wide receivers this season. If Pettus has the opportunity as the number one wide receiver with good when Garcia out of the way. Then I think you you can keep looking his way. Now, it was going to say his match-ups coming up or rough. This was a rough matchup as well against Seattle. But well, Denver. Oh well on defense. Denver just lost their best Chris junior. Yes. But he's Chris Harris is their slow corner. But Dante Pettis we'll have to play Denver Seattle again. And then Chicago, I'm not excited. I'm not look you can talk you on Denver's secondary. But they're their pass Russia's going to at home be a problem for Nick Mullins. Yes, it doesn't mean you don't pick them up. Doesn't mean you can't start them as a flex, but I would temporary speculations because it was really there's a couple of big plays for him one really big play. But he's a very talented player that can't be lost. And it was a good game for Molin. So I don't I don't mind chasing it. I just want people to have a fair expectation. I'm very excited about Denver's defense over the next few weeks say Jones, Ron Brown. Devante adams. Okay. We know we're playing devante. I don't you're drawn Browns as Jones you're not chasing those guys. No, I'm not going to chase did have a couple of sorts of the week. And they both scored a touchdown. Godwin, Adam Humphreys when DJ is out Kris God when is averaging a hundred yards receiving when d- is out Chris gone when it becomes a top level play. How'd you feel about Jarvis Landry six for one? Oh three this week. It was it was nice to see him get back on track. Honestly, the the target share was there. The target share hasn't necessarily meant tone of production lately. But this week, it's if finally turned around, you know, how sometimes a stock gets really really high price and sometimes they split the stock. Is that a viable thing you can do with the tide imposition? Can we split Travis? Kelsey I've been to like three or four tight ends. I get share number one. Yeah. Like, I never to just into quarters. I it makes sense. You get Kelsey first quarter second quarter. I'll I'll go ahead and buy them off tonight wire I think you're onto something absolutely start Travis Kelsey first quarter over most tight ends and Travis Kelsey twelve for one sixty eight and two almost at a third one. It wasn't for replay almost at a fourth one. If it wasn't for a tip ball. I mean. It's only going to get better. If Sammy Watkins stays off the field and cream hunted out, obviously and the primary beneficiary besides of course, Spencer where for Kareem hunt being off the team was Travis Kelsey this week. But next week he gets who cares. Who cares?.

"But we do provide a variety of programs and number two. If you plan to watch any football over the weekend for professional football. That is check out the forty Niners the forty Niners and cardinals game on Sunday. My nephew will be in the mix Dante Pettis. So if you just know that Dante Pettis is my nephew live with me for a number of a while when he was younger and. Yeah. I'm pretty proud of the guy. Anyway. Well, let's talk. Let's talk about the roller coaster ride. We had this week in the stock market. I mean, you can't get much more. Much more volatile than that. I guess you could. But you know, it has in the past. But it was a pretty volatile week. The Dow down one percent at the opening today about two hundred fifty points got worse than that before it turned around. But what it ended up it ended up down still? There was no rule recovery. It was down two hundred ninety six by the end of the day. So there was when you saw was a fell sharply started to recover that toward the end the our fell again. So and then the NASDAQ ended up being down one hundred and fifty one points for the day. And so the thanks stocks have been getting punished. You know, it always happens. You know, I try to I try to make sure that we all understand how the market works those things that take off and last a long time on the upside eventually give back some of that game not all of it. But some of it, and if the faster goes up the more gain that will get back you'll will give back the game. Not all of it is I said, but you take the good with the bad on those high flying tech stocks. Long-term tech stocks work. Right. But you just gotta take take the volatility with them. And this is more normal that we're seeing this week and this month than most people think most people think this is the abnormally. No, we haven't even finished our correction. Ten percent correction is normal between ten and twenty percent is still a correction. We just barely made ten percent. Oil status. It's six dollars a barrel. That was kinda interesting. There is no flation in the system. There is no place in that. We can see that is a worry. So oil, you know, usually, you know, when it goes up, it's inflationary pulls up everything. But it's been pretty pretty steady a steady on the high side I thought for the year, but steady going up to one hundred dollars a barrel like that. As you could tell there was plenty in the market, the talk by got lot more on on tap here. So I welcome your calls and questions on.

"That's the position most concerned about. Sure inside their way more concerned but for Sunday for this Sunday. I don't know if it's going to be able to go I have no idea, but he got ding pretty well. I know that and so suddenly who's gonna play back there. Alongside warner. You're asking Fred Warner in a second NFL game to run the show. Wow. That's yeah. But you're right. He was terrific. Look you guys mean Mark ended up playing a lot more snaps specially in the first half. And I think they took a little advantage on him from what I could tell watching the game again guys pressed into playing more in those in those linebacker spots than you would have thought there was a ton of guys they rotated the defensive line a lot. I mean, they they used that depth and played guys a lot of snaps, but to me again other than Fred Warner. The best thing was Buckner for Bucknell. T F L's in two and a half sacks. I understand Minnesota's not a strong team right now. But that's still that's the Buckner. If Buckner could have six to eight nine games like that this year that is going to be huge for the forty Niners. We're talking to Ted Robinson. Niners lose to the Vikings on Sunday. And of course, have the lion. For the home opener coming up this weekend. Obviously his Jimmy finally lost. I can't believe it. I thought he was going to. But he loses statistically, not very good. How did you assess his performance? Yeah. I'd be mixed bag. I mean, I think there were some real good things that didn't get the Dante Pettis ball in the end zone where? Watch it again, the the better TV version when I get back, and yeah, Wayne's made a terrific plan. I give Wayne's credit, and you do you still hope that that's a pedestal catch Kittles catch and then Garcia goes up in the end zone. Ball hit him in the hands. I know these are difficult catches. But I keep coming back. It's the NFL. That's what these guys are there for right? I mean there they're there because they can make those kinds catches. And at some point you're expected to make them. It's not it isn't Saturday football anymore where it's real easy and your wide open often in the ball gets to right your midsection. It didn't always that way on Sunday. So. Anyway, that the downsides Jimmy work. Yeah. Couple of inaccurate throws. I mean, there was a play on that long drive. I was talking about the second quarter the play where he's spinning away to his left any lodges the ball and almost got it picked in the end zone. I mean, you just can't eventually gold kicked off Raby. Gold kicked a field goal on the next play. But my God you can't make that that was way too close to being an interception in the end zone. So again, we knew this was going to happen. And this is going to be the test. Jimmy Garoppolo had his first three pick game. And two of them were definitely on him. The third was that overload blitz that where I'll take it at face value were born says, I ran the wrong route. But this is going to be a test that a seek as Jimmy hasn't dealt with this before. And guys I mentioned this on the air just for context again just context because it was very apparent to me in the first half. It was Kirk cousins fifty eighth career start was garoppolos eighth against not an excuse Garoppolo being paid awfully well right now, but it is just something to measure these guys. And so what you saw cousins in the first half with his new team. He looked like a veteran didn't he he looked really comedy absolutely area. He was considered may you compare the two quarterbacks. Cousins was more consistent. But Garoppolo had the the higher highs in the lower lows in that game. So and I think that's what you're going to get a little bit with the Garoppolo. But I think with Carson like he a guarantee he would say I should catch that ball. Exactly. He's a veteran player you catch. But I'm supposed to make that. Yeah. I in the Pettus one lucky sometimes you get the other guy gets paid to you had to give credit and then Kittles that's the one. I can't explain because he closed his hands for the ball ever got there. That was like the weirdest thing. I was like well shit new like keep your hands open into the ball hits your hands and then closed them must. I don't know if some guy desire he just made miss judged it somehow, but when they showed it on the rape play. 'cause I was like oh, man. I wonder just grazes fingertips is like, well, no, he closed his hands. He had no chance of catching that ball. It's all so what? So what? So here's the other thing to take away from all speakers those are three plays. The those were all explosive plays that didn't happen. How many others did happen? Once again getting used check free down the right sideline. Just like they did in a preseason game a big throat a pedestal shifted the field. And so here's the takeaway becomes once again Kyle Shanahan dolled up a lot of good stuff. Didn't he? Yes. You guys wide open. I mean, guys get it's not supposed to happen that often guys wide open. And what you saw for example last night with the Rams was that same kind of offense where the guys are pretty experienced, and they made the place and what you saw with the forty Niners are some guys with a little less experience. It didn't make all those place. Yeah. But the same concepts you have got to meet long-term. I come away from the game Sunday saying I still have pretty good faith in this forty Niner offense. They will score the bigger concern has been is the defense going to stop and the way the defense played in the second half. And. Actually on the flight home. We had a little delay in on the ground in Minneapolis. Team had unbelievable. Well, but had a chance to listen to Richard Sherman a little bit, and he was very optimistic about the defense after the game, admittedly that the first half. There was it's funny. They said that Sherman had a great point. He and cooks a tough guy tackle, he used the word slippery. Yeah. Which that one jolted all of us were how many missed tackles in the first half by the forty Niners, especially on cook. And and chairman get cooked the credit for that. So there was something about him. That was first time forty nine hundred seen him. There was something that was tough. But the defense second half the way they played is the way I mean, that's again, you see that. If you see that more weeks than not this year from the forty Niners that's going to bode, well, he may be slipper. He's no Chuck foreman. They give me the give me grief about some people because I love Frank Corso much. I said it was like it was like watching Frank Blake is Frank was like that. He got small at all the right times. Right. And you think lined up get this really clean hit on this little five nine back. And so now Frank would come out the other side, still running, no doubt. Thank you. Thank you. Ted, always fun. All right, guys. Take.
