"Figure some things out our is experience on the hot seat right now I think at that defensive coordinator spot later on UCLA at Oregon State Utah has a great home record Oregon State also now 15 and one in their last 16 home games tough to beat we saw them last week putting 52 points on the board versus our Bears DJ you had the game of his life why DJ we uncle LA and Dante Moore in the meantime they face Washington State and he did not have a game of his life he looked like a freshman quarterback last week well Dante Moore is throwing a pick six in each of his last two games so that's not good and they did win despite that pick six he kind of picked it up in the second half but he still only completed about 50 % of his passes look Chip Kelly teams are usually known for their offense but the defense this year has been still I mean they shut down Cam Moore Cam Moore hadn't thrown a pick all season got picked off twice against the Bruins last week their I mean first in yards per play allowed fifth in the FPS in total defense I mean they're giving up fewer than 3 .8 yards per play this year you got to take your hat off to defensive coordinator Deanton Lynn who actually gets a $50 ,000 bonus if UCLA finishes this year in the top 25 in total defense so so far so for good that extra moolah in his pocket he's got to go to the rest of the pack 12 but he's got a pretty good head start going in so that's a tough one I think on the road I'm gonna give that one to Oregon State personally that's what I think and seeing I'll be them much more physical they play good defense that's a tough hard -nosed football team I don't think UCLA's offense shows up in keeping yeah I will say after UCLA gets past Oregon State though Stanford Colorado Arizona Arizona USC State then Cal like the schedule does open up for UCLA if they do somehow beat the beavers they could be in the pack 12 title race for pretty much the entire season yeah no doubt U of A WSU so Arizona has been almost the upset the last two weeks right Washington two weeks ago and then last week USC had to go to overtime with Caleb Williams pulling the heroics at the end I like Noah Fafita at quarterback yes you know they have Jane Delore down there but Fafita may be kind of Wally pipping out him right here comes Mickey Mance with that spot and so they look pretty good Washington State Cam Ward fell apart last week against against that UCLA defense we talked about just not very good who knows which Cam Ward's gonna show up it's but in Martin Stadium it's up on the Palouse that is a tough road trip especially for a team from Tucson that's the longest road trip in the Pac -12 so that is a tough one it really is you mentioned Noah Fafita he became the first power five frosh quarterback to throw five touchdown passes in a game this year you're right he might be Wally Pippen Jaden DeLaure it's not like they were world beaters with Jaden DeLaure they even had like a 500 record with him Arizona is much better than their three and three record would indicate they really could have beaten Mississippi State in overtime in Stark Vegas if they are five and one against the spread it the old saying good coaches win great coaches cover well that's what jet fish has done this year it hasn't led to a lot of wins yet and as good as they have been though there is a the path to three and eight with this team if they lose the Washington State then it's Oregon State UCLA at Colorado and then Utah heading into the territorial cup it's going to be a tough path the six wins for fish in the Wildcats. Tough road no about doubt it BMO is proud to be the official bank of UC Berkeley remember you can follow us on social media CalBears .com

Dante Moore intercepted. Corelli read 10 five. It's a touchdown. A pick six on the opening play at Utah strikes first here on homecoming. They don't ask you how they just ask you how many and that's four in a row for Utah to begin the season. Shorthanded and on homecoming Saturday in Salt Lake City, the Utes beat the UCLA Bruins by a score of 14 to seven. That's ESPN 792 .1 am the Utes give revenge for last year UCLA beat up on Utah last year 42 to 32 but this time that Utah defense shuts down Dante Moore and company and win that game by a score of 14 to 7 disappointing for me and yes you will see me Ephraim in UCLA my shirt every single Saturday every single Saturday by the way this is Fox Football Saturday we and are live from the tire rack .com studios I've been meaning to ask you this throughout the show today I want to get your thoughts on what went down with Deshaun Watson last week I mean it's rare that we ever see a face mask penalty on a quarterback or any offensive player but you saw two in the same game two off you saw two personal foul penalties against Deshaun Watson he also shoved an official and miraculously stayed in the game he seemed to have a short fuse about that entire matchup Pittsburgh ended up winning that game of course it started with a pick six much like that UCLA until a Utah game started but what what do you think's going on in the head of Deshaun Watson right now as the Browns get ready to host the Titans it's a lot of pressure he knows the world is watching to see if he can get back to form he knows he has the biggest contract in terms of guaranteed money he knows he's he's in the process of pulling himself out of the depths of despair through his own behavior and so all of those things at combined being at a franchise that's looking to the answer the often not answered question of what are we doing a quarterback for the for the Browns it can be it can be a lot and you start to see lashing out you know things of that nature it's a a lot lot of pressure on him because a lot is to be expected because he was paid a lot of money here's you time where know he was going through the private worst time of his life for the 99 .99999 % of the people listening right who will never see that kind of money that some of these guys make a month in a time the mindset is always this well how bad could you feel if you're getting that kind of money I mean I I could be having the worst day ever but if I see that paycheck I'm feeling good but that is not the way it operates that's not human nature it it is and you think it would be unless you're in that position because your money is not tied to your emotion correct see this is something that people that don't have money always feel like well if I had money I wouldn't have any worries I I would feel no pain if my bank account was loaded with money no you wouldn't feel the pain caused by not having money right but that's not the only pain that we endure are the only issues and problems we endure in the world to get to the highest level in sports whatever and your sport is the pain the sacrifice not only by you but those around you to get you in that position where you weren't making any there were no promises that you would even get to the finish line that doesn't go away you don't forget that the competitiveness what it takes if you are the best you want to compete against the best so no amount of money in your bank account is going to ease the pain if you're not living up to your own Expectations yeah, I mean we all have things our expectations or goals that we want to accomplish in life and you know a lot of emotional despair comes from not being able to accomplish those goals when you want to not being able to Find out why you you can't accomplish those goals aside from from being paid to be a professional Athlete there's a there's a heavy mental Health aspect that goes along with that because you know if you worked in an Office building you wouldn't have the world having access to your job And telling you what you're doing wrong He had published some of his his DMS On social media after after a game and the the things that people are saying oh you're talking about the the the Pittsburgh running back. Yes. Yeah, it was no The Broncos yeah, yeah, no no no I keep getting around the Vikings the I was gonna let you keep going through time You know Daven Cook's gone obviously and they were counting This on guy to see fumbled right critical moment in the game, which is it that's just what it is right. It's a game and the hatred and vitriol people were showing towards him in a racist negative manner I Mean it's deplorable it is But there are others that said to him I hate to tell you this I've been getting the same thing. That's just what it I is just don't call attention to them that's what I first of all you have to be able to to insulate Yourself right from the outside world the thing that social media did is gave

right now there is 11 minutes to go in the fourth quarter and the huskies are leading tulsa by a score of 36 to 10. nx already has 409 yards uh passing in that game the washington is is the question for the answer for like what what if you were in an air raid with first round wide receivers that's like that's the answer right because like that's what they're doing nx have any future in the nfl yeah i mean he was a top 10 heistman he'll be on a roster there's just a lot of offense they don't do in washington and i'm kind of curious about that with him in the nfl all right once again this is fox football saturday steve harman and live from the tire rack .com studios want to thank our crew today lorena is here she is now part a fixture on this show lorena thank you so much i'm so happy to be here i know you are here mr uh desegers great to see you as always dodgers have no pitching left they're gonna go rookies with the this year uh and that's going to be oh i hate this thing so much i know i know how much is a giant fan you hate all the miss because i don't even know baseball exists anymore except to hate on the dodgers uh and brandon of course keeping his eye on this san diego state uh ucla game by the way uh dante moore did start a quarterback for ucla a and three out for him san diego state out at three and out so both offenses struggling early in the beginning of this game i know you want my pro fix it very quickly yes i don't know why you can't come up with a competent offense in college football like the san diego state offense is so bad and i just don't understand why they can't figure out something to do they tried a couple of years ago to start to consciously throw the ball moore and it just wasn't in their dna it just wasn't in their dna this is you know when started we started when brady hoke the first time he was the sanding estate coach before he went to michigan rocky long continued it brady hoke has brought it back that's what they do they just run the football they can do that well uh but they're against going a quality team here at ucla so we'll see how this game plays out all right let me ask you this before we get some of your picks for tomorrow you know because i'm always looking for a gambler's perspective is week week one a really good week to take advantage of some misguided lines because none of these teams obviously played have a game so a lot of these lines are based on certainly nothing that happened in the preseason a lot of it on what they did a year ago is this that week where you can really take advantage of some bad lines on NFL games well the way you take advantage of it is you take advantage of it not this week but four months ago when the lines came out right exactly future some bets yeah so not even future bets for week one so for example like Pittsburgh I love Pittsburgh this week their downtime plus two it was a plus three and a half months right I the like Patriots to beat the Eagles tomorrow but I like them to cover that number has gotten worse if you get it now there's you know there's there's just you know the Bears for example are now the favorite even though I think they opened up as a point or two underdog right so there's ways to get numbers better but I think that you know the overreaction I don't know what overreactions the balls on the ground get the ball sorry um by the way Ephraim Salaam is supposed to be here today but you know he's at Snapdragon right now so he's there with his ass UCLA about that so um I said you had just said it like I really like divisional home dogs in week one are a great wager so I'm big on the Browns this weekend against the Bengals all right so that line right now Cincinnati at two I agree with you on the brown I mean are you believer did Sean Watson is gonna start assembling the guy we saw in Houston this year he he has to be better than was he last year obviously launching which he certainly can be and I'm kind of if he is they will be pretty good they have a really good roster mm hmm they have a really good roster how bad

"And they'll decide from there by the way as we get ready for this first full week here in the National Football League looking forward to seeing all the games course we'll have the show a red zone radio show with Rich Hornberger tomorrow from 10 to 2 on the west coast 1 to 5 on the east coast I'm looking forward to all the games except for the Monday night game Bills and Jets cuz I have spectrum TV I will not be able to see that game unless I buy it from somewhere else we had this discussion before you still have DirecTV and he had to jump on YouTube TV because they have the NFL package this is this is not well good good for the National Football League when a lot millions of people are being shut out of an opportunity to see games their the winners and this is YouTube TV man because I have a dispute in my in the Carolinas you know you have this in LA with a local channel with yes basically a third -party distributor so I have DirecTV I'm gonna keep it for this year because it's just easy and I was gonna get YouTube TV for just Sunday ticket I said goodbye to DirecTV after literally from year one I have a whole thing set up in the house I need to get get someone over here to do all that but I think I'm hanging that direction after today and so I have to Fox the local Fox Channel affiliate is blocked out here and so I have to I bought YouTube TV today to watch the NFL you know is sitting on top of mountain the and they got all these disputes from these different cable outlets and you know the networks the that are carrying the NFL football that's not good we're talking millions of people that have spectrum right now would have to go outside pay extra money to see the matchup a great obviously Monday night matchup you know Aaron Rodgers making his Jets debut against the Bills NFL needs to step in here rich I said I'm sorry you read I'm thinking about rich tomorrow with rich but Jeff I mean how are they gonna handle this um what do you do don't I know I mean direct -to -consumer is coming at some point with ESPN we've talked about this for months now and I don't know exactly when that becomes a thing but yeah I mean you're gonna have to find a way especially with the big -time game we see on Monday night I mean what about right now if you're watching Alabama Texas you can't watch a few spectrum so right Sling TV YouTube TV like someone is someone is getting the benefit of this right and it's uh it's we'll see what I'm sorry we're just got a huge sack can't believe it what do you mean you can't believe I've been asking the Oregon by the way did tie up this game a bonyx well because we were a hundred and like 20th last season on third down defense yeah so and we were over to I mean Texas that was two for two that had 65 yard run in a touchdown pass in the first drive so to get a sack like is pretty impressive so when you're watching Dante Moore if you don't know the story Dante Morris's five -star recruit who had committed to Oregon decommitted and ended up at UCLA do we ever get the exact reason why you made that move from Oregon to UCLA couple reasons I think one is you know Oregon's coach their OC left Arizona State can you know I like he's 33 man but I he's young but I I like Kenny Dillingham I think he's gonna be a good football coach moving forward so their connection to him is gone right I mean they brought in Will Stein who is a really good office coordinator from UTSA but there's no connection there right didn't know Will Stein at all and I think he wanted to play right away and bonus coming back you're not playing right away don't UCLA you're playing right away um and Chip can coach coach quarterbacks like it makes sense um he had one quarterback for five years at UCLA how do we know here's the thing about college recruiting everyone always says this thing right they go oh it must be the money I mean maybe I know I imagine he got a decent NIL deal to go to UCLA I mean Kasey Wasserman is a big booster there's people with money in that program maybe I think that's secondary to all of this I think a lot of times we hear oh NIL NIL NIL yeah yeah it's part of the process but it's certainly not the whole process if you don't if you don't like the coaching staff and don't have a connection just going somewhere because they're giving you more money than somewhere else well I mean everybody's different I mean I we mean look there are some players that simply want the money but it's but I think it's a small majority than that we actually think I really do I think there there are players that go places because the that is best place for them plus the money is good there are some players that go strictly for the money but if you don't like eat if you don't like your cook look we saw look two at usc right bear alexander who went to george as a five star and lucas with the a and m is a five star i imagine both got some money they're gone after one year because they don't like it there right like you guys don't stay for that long if they don't like it somewhere all right on the other side i'm going to get to jeff's best picks for this i want to to get the organ butts going to a touchdown all right hold on hold on but on the other side jeff schwartz is going to supply to you his best picks for tomorrow nfl sunday this is box sports box football saturday football fans it's the pregame show you've been waiting for don't miss

"Big argument about you know tradition everything else and the PAC -12 and we're gonna lose all this West Coast football is PAC -12 not SEC football it's not Big Ten football it's not ACC football of the power five conferences it's the least supported of all the power five conferences and has been for a long time well I said this during the whole process of conference realignment this whole year you know the the presidents the PAC -12 conference I think there's been a lot of change at the president level but they're just not as enthusiastic about sports it's not with it's not what they're there for and in other conferences just a lot more attention paid towards sports from the presidential level it's not a good or bad thing this is what it is again we've had a lot of president change over in the in the PAC -12 so maybe there's gonna be a little bit of a difference moving forward but they're just you know this Steve there's just not that level of focus and attention into sports as there is at other institutions in the country by the way we're reminded again Bryce Young is no longer the quarterback at Alabama ugly pick Texas takes over deep into Alabama territory yeah so look out I mean we some of the we talked about Clemson losing last week new he quarterback Bryce Young we'll see how the season goes for the Crimson Tide all right let's find out what is trending right now look who's in the house again mr. Steve de Sager how are you Steve doing well hello gentlemen and by the way I have read that San Diego State was expecting over 30 ,000 for this game tonight well maybe they're just a late arriving crowd well if you've ever been to the Costco down the street it's impossible to drive in Mission Valley I'll just assume that everybody's next door it's it's a little different the dynamic than the old stadium which was smack in middle the of the largest parking lot on the world parking lot large enough to build an NFL Stadium by the way you could never reach an agreement they that was never going to happen it's a nice little stadium but for some the women's soccer with Alex Morgan they filled this place up but the Aztecs are having a hard time getting fans to show up they claimed they had 27 ,000 the Aztecs when Arizona was visiting this is UCLA visiting and the allotment was said to be 2 ,500 tickets they sold it out and kids San Diego State students first thousand students tonight get an Aztec flag it just seems like it would be a great place to watch again hold on Brandon yes you have a comment I think they're all tailgating well that was the problem everyone complained because they had the ultimate tailgate stadium the old stadium obviously with literally the largest parking lot on the planet and they don't have that with a new stadium so some people complain well and got it to the point there were so many people tailgating that there weren't enough parking spaces actually it was ridiculous that's very bad let's update some college football in progress because about two minutes it's to go Miami has scored again to lead Texas A &M 48 to 33 eighth ranked Washington ahead of Tulsa to start the fourth quarter 36 to 3 starting the third quarter at ninth rank Tennessee only leading Austin P 13 to 6 Joe Milton with just 95 yards passing in the first half 17th ranked North Carolina has kicked the field goal to take the lead on Appalachian State 20 to 17 late in the third halftime at 18th ranked Oklahoma Sooners 14 -3 over SMU 21st ranked Duke now ahead of Lafayette at the half 21 -7 you mentioned Texas at Alabama scoreless about six minutes to go in the first quarter and Oregon has tied it up at Texas Tech 7 -7 about nine minutes left in the first quarter it seemed like in ACC country every other town in that conference had a weather delay today and it wasn't exclusive to that conference it just seemed like that Virginia Tech has finally hit halftime I think that game started this morning Virginia Tech is tied with Purdue 17 -7 17 -17 at the break I don't know how long a break they'll have after it's been already a long delay talk about long delays the Dodger game is supposed to start in 45 minutes no is that still in a delay has yet to start we have thunderstorms out out here today all day it's why the Carolinas got a bunch of every game I think that was playing line the has got delayed to now this this hurricane that's brewing out there it's setting straight up the coast is what they're saying yeah it's gonna not it's not coming to us all right UMass is in a delay there was also one other West Virginia's in a in the second quarter so yeah not exclusive to NC State which they did finally play the whole game 10th ranked Notre Dame one at North Carolina State 45 to 24 the Irish have won 29 straight against the ACC in the regular season 12th ranked Utah still without its star quarterback the injured cam rising did get two touchdowns in the last two minutes to win at Baylor 20 to 13 Ole Miss ranked if a winner at 24th ranked Tulane 37 20 and Nebraska's defense had eight sacks today 22nd ranked Colorado was only up 13 7 third quarter buffs pulled away 36 to 14 and Cocoa Golf won the US Open at age 19 Texas driving in Alabama scoreless for moment the five minutes to go first quarter back to you and there's oh good defensive play right at the goal knocking the ball away so Texas still out of the end zone there Alabama trying to hang on by the way Mr. Court every time you mention Notre Dame just mention Hartman had four touchdown passes they just say that just say Hartman four touchdowns how come the last few years you didn't say hey another 300 yards for Hartman wait for us is hard to mention Notre Dame is in the conversation much easier I believe Dante Moore starting time for the Bruins so well they they're showing a split screen of garbers and more both warming up right now so maybe they'll have two quarterbacks on the field at the same time

"Began allowing college athletes to earn money from their names, images, and likenesses, some athletes have been cashing in. Sedona's social media skills have propelled her to a league quite frankly of her own as an influencer slash equity holder. The most valuable college football NIL deal goes to none other than Alabama's Bryce young. Sources now report that young has already signed contracts totaling more than $800,000, and he's been offered deals worth more than a $1 million. But in the wild wild west that is the world of NIL deals, it sometimes hard to know who or what to believe. Today, the athletic Stewart mandel tells us the story of Jaden Rashad, a top high school quarterback from California who saw his and IL dream and what he thought was millions of dollars go up in smoke. It's a kind of a sad story. I mean, here's a kid who you could say he was naive and he should never have believed that the $13 million existed in the first place, but he did. And you go from thinking you're about to be super rich to nothing. From wondering, I'm under skeleton. It's Wednesday, February 15th, and this is the lead. Disturb and off. Welcome back to the lead. Thanks. Thanks for having me. So Stewart today, we are diving into the very bizarre story of Jaden Rashad, who you and your colleague at the athletic and de Staples recently wrote about a really in depth article. Before we get into what actually happened here, I just want to Stewart. In your mind, what kind of a story is this? Is this a cautionary tale? Is this a commentary on the state of college athletics? What kind of story is this? Well, the cautionary tale certainly if you're a quarterback recruit or a parent of a quarterback recruit or somebody who knows a recruit, you know, I hope that they would first of all realize just how many bad actors there are in the NIL space right now and the importance of having a good adviser in terms of the state of college football, coaches, in particular, but a lot of people don't love NIL and the direction it's headed. And while we don't think this is the norm, we think his story is definitely an outlier in terms of the amounts that are being discussed and just how badly it went. It is, to me, a snapshot of how did we get here? Having the ability for athletes to make money off their name image likeness is something most people thought should happen, but we're in this weird kind of limbo state or the schools themselves still can't directly pay the athletes. And so they've outsourced NIL to these third party collectives. Some of which are very professional and very well run. The one that's at the focus of this story, the gator collective, clearly is not. All right, well let's dive into the story itself here. First of all, Stewart, tell me about the kid at the center of all of this. Jane Rashad, a quarterback recruit from the Bay Area in the class of 2023, kind of popped on the scene as a recruit as a high school sophomore and then really blew up as a junior. Rankings of Rashad is amongst the most coveted players in the class and is one of two players him and Dante Moore in the top 5 yet to make their commitment, but this was a quarterback class full of big names like arch Manning Peyton and Eli's nephew. He wasn't quite in that stratosphere. But good enough to be invited to the elite 11 finals. One of the best pure throwers of the football in this class, kind of reminds me of Dwayne Haskins, but completed over 62% of his passes for 3055 yards. People close to him described him as very humble, smart, good natured. My name's Jane Rashad and I'm from Bay Area, California. Brentwood. Two different people we talked to talked about how around the holiday season. He put together all these backpacks and gift bags and whatnot full of food, a Bible. The ability to help others when they need it. And that I'm a better person than I am a football player and I'm a person before I'm a football player. And when he first went into this recruiting process, kind of eyes wide open, really excited, kind of genuinely in awe that he was getting all this attention. All right, well, Stewart has anyone who follows college football knows name image and likeness deals these days are a huge part of the recruiting process. Technically those deals are not supposed to influence a recruits decision about what school to attend, but everyone knows this is happening to some extent behind the scenes. So knowing that, how did Jaden Rashad and his family wander into the whole NIL part of things? NIL, if we back up a second, NIL, it was not allowed by the NCAA until July 1st, 2021. So this class that we're talking about, the 2023 class was the first one to go through the full cycle. Knowing the NIL payments were possibility. If you go back about a year ago, 5 star quarterback Nico E emalia has committed to Tennessee. Now quarterback from Southern California, Nico eleva gets a four year $8 million contract with a collective associated with Tennessee. He's now at Tennessee. And that story blew everybody's mind. Discussed, the idea of the $8 million NIL deal, the laws in the state of California that allow some of this money to even start to be given even while you are still a junior in high school. We now know that that was an outlier that there aren't that many collectives that have that kind of money to throw around in the first place. But as far as the public knew, certainly recruiting people knew, well, that must just be the rate for a 5 star quarterback now. And who did the Rashad is bringing onto their team to help advise them in this world of big NIL deals? And so there was a lawyer in Orange County Mike Caspian, who kind of got in on this very early on. My name is Mike casino. And I am an attorney. He had never been involved in sports cases. You know, he had represented from what we could tell. He represented the Catholic Church. I have represented dozens of Catholic diocese, Catholic orders, all kinds of Catholic organizations, and I have dealt with hundreds of childhood sexual abuse cases. He's an Orange County where a lot of those Catholic schools and the Trinity league are football powerhouses. His own son played at Santa margarita. So he was familiar with this world and I just think he saw an opportunity and got in early. He would tell you he's not an agent, but he definitely acts as an agent. And once it became known publicly that he was the one who did that contract, you had all of these recruits and families across the country calling him, hey, can you get the deal like that for me? And one of them was Jaden Rashad.

"Ron Bellamy for them to kind of be able to show the progress that some of the corners and safeties have made. You know, that's a young position. Some young guys playing for them to be able to show that off. I think big for you know, not not to say that there's not some of that on offense, but I think there's a lot of newness on defense that the recruits Needed to be able to see with their own eyes. Yeah, I know something that they were, I'm sure very curious about and you know you're You talked a lot about the Michigan Games. I wanted to see. I know that you've had a chance to follow a lot of the in state recruits. I saw some, you know, talking about West Bloomfield. With their 2023 Sam Edge, Morgan wondering if you've had a chance to see any other games around the state of Michigan High School games and what your thoughts have been about the state of Michigan in high school football getting kicked off here this fall. Yeah, I have last week. I was at Cap attacking Muskegon, which was a big showdown on paper cast. Tech ended up running away with it a little bit more than everybody thought. But they're a powerhouse this year, and I'm actually going to get to see them again tomorrow. When they play King That's going to be a big matchup right there. You know, they will almost undoubtedly see each other again in the city championship game, or you're going to have lots of future college talent on that field. So you know, watching what Dion Walker dead and he's playing both sides of the ball this year. I think, Michigan if he ends up in Michigan, they're going to an interesting decision with him because he is over 66 almost 67. And 330, plus pounds and now playing offensive tackle and defensive tackle. I think that's going to be a you know, he's been known as a defensive lineman, his whole career playing so well at offensive tackle that I could see. Schools wanting to maybe look at him. There kind of reminds me of when I saw him acai back then in high school, actually as an offensive tackle, so he's played really well, Um Dante Moore has lived up to the hype so far this year went down to Indiana played a tough caramel team. And they didn't win, but he did everything that he needed to do in that game to get them to the brink of victory. Um, both teams are too and I'm really excited for that game tomorrow. I'm also going to be stopping in Ann Arbor. Actually, Gabriel Rashard is going to play. Divine child and divine child has a center Dylan send a who has been offered by Michigan offered by Michigan State, Penn State, Northwestern and really, really Yep, too, his offseason regiment. And I think, drop this system like 50 £60 in the off season and is moving while playing well, So with that, being a five o'clock start taking advantage of that and getting to see Dylan before a little bit before heading over to Catherine King. Again. You're listening to Alan. True. Midwest regional manager recruiting 24 7 Sports Allen You had 18 players make their debut last week. Um Most most of them freshman getting an opportunity to play in the Western Michigan game. None more than J. J. McCullagh, McAfee, McCaffrey McCarthy making his play. So, uh, how big was JJ's debut and how big was that? Throw? Going to the other side of the field. And how does that what effect does that have, if any UN recruited You know so first, JJ, the popular guy. He's uh, played seven on seven in Chicago with a lot of top recruits he played at I m G, So obviously he On the roster there with a lot of top recruits, and, uh, I think now in recruiting I don't know how many kids based on them taking visits and some of them playing on Saturday and training and film and all the things that they do, and kids don't just sit there and watch college football from Sundown or sun up to sun down anymore, And I think the viral moments like that helped the visibility of your program and your players and when his when that throw happened in the video spread Across Twitter and social media. I think that that is almost Just as important in invisibility today as anything else recruits see that And they see that it's a true freshman, and they see that as a guy getting an opportunity, So I think that that was big. So beyond just I'm sure the confidence that it gives JJ The excitement that it brings to Michigan. I think having a clip like that spread its way through social media. Is it big in recruiting? That is something that it seems like a lot of other schools or, you know, Michigan fans have pointed to other schools that have been able to plug in and play freshman right away. Like Jamie said. We had 18 that were making their debut here against Western Michigan. Not only with JJ, but seeing, you know, obviously it was Western. The game got a little out of, uh, that the score was a little distant later where we were able to get some more of those guys in but not only with JJ. But seeing all these other young faces play and some of them were, you know, in the Cahill green playing Very meaningful minutes and starting here as a younger guy, not only with JJ, but does that ring out seeing so many young players playing on Michigan's team right now? Yeah, I think so. And even before that, I think that's something that had been brought up before. Um, the end state guys noticed last year when Macari Page was out there. As a true freshman. Michigan has not shied away from playing young guys and From having deep rotation that certain positions, so I think that's been noticeable, but certainly with this group of kids, especially when you're recruiting Within the circle. Um, your recruiting former teammates of J. J McCarthy, your recruiting former teammates of Donovan Edwards, your recruiting Players who know these players who are true freshman on the team to see those guys touch the field for the first time. I think that definitely helps. Um, when when you can say it all you want and and every school Promised these promises These guys at least the opportunity to compete for time. But when they're actually able to be there or turn on the television or pull up Twitter and see the guys that they know in a winged helmet playing football, I think that that certainly is impactful. Well, Alan appreciate you coming on being a part of the M Zone. Look forward to hearing how, uh, how Well recruiting wit with a Yeah, Let's hope Michigan with with my fingers crossed a Michigan victory and You know a well thought out playing and hopefully we can. We can bring in some of these big fish that are coming in. Yeah, I'm looking forward to and I'm already planning to be up late after the game. Getting reactions from these recruits. That will be a late Saturday night for me, but at the time of year we live for us. I appreciate you guys having me on to talk about it. That's Alan. True, Uh, Midwest regional manager 24 7 Sports. "Me. Took melatonin owe me Took Valerian root me took nap accidentally on couch from 78 30. The wormy took nap from 3 32 4 30. Me talk good. Studies have shown that memories have shown that the microbes ever long term studies have shown they've studied. The study's scientific studies have shown And here with their findings are study buddies. The perfect nerd Couple, Donna and Steve. I'm Donna. Hi, everyone. Ive Steve Patterson. Gonna? I took melatonin. And now I just I woke up and I just thought If I could just get four more hours asleep, Okay, It's supposed to have the opposite effect. Melatonin is supposed to regulate that. Like you're supposed to wake up feeling refreshed even if you didn't get Full night's rest. I don't think that is has been my anecdotal experience, nor that of those I know who take it. Really? I think many folks I know who take it. Wake up feeling and pardon my French here. Groggy. I never wake up feeling groggy from that. What? Not melatonin. I don't believe anyone when they say never, but I'm going to go with it. Okay for being let a wrong um Often times mostly Uh, you know, it's frequent as possible. I feel like drugs. I don't feel like you're in. You're in bed with big valerian root too. I don't know what's going on over there. Be of valerian root. I also okay. It's a whole sitch. My problem is not falling asleep. It's staying asleep and tossing and turning and tossing and turning again. Then I have to pee. And it's like, Oh, if I could hold out another three hours. That would be great. But then that's all I can think about. Oh, no, I have to pee. I have to be have to be. I better get up and pee and you have back to back and you're like I have all this lab. The whole thing. Anyway, we digress. There's a new article on ted dot com that says there are actually seven different types of rest that we all need. So you kinda have to break it down every night. We need to get this glass queen. Dang it, Okay. I'm gonna try to fly through these. Okay. All right. We need physical rest, either passive or active. Okay, so passive includes what you did yesterday or last night, Just a little flea P nappy. Yes, we active means things like Getting a massage doing the yolks. Meditating lying around that that's active. Rest. Okay, so that's good to know that when you'd lay on the couch But you're just watching TV. You are getting active. Rest your body. Correct. Great mental rest. So you gotta let your brain take a break. You get that every day 90 noon. You're funny. You should have your own show. Ideally, you should take a mini break every 20 minutes. Especially if you work long hours like you do, That's the Pomodoro timer. Don't know what that word is The Pomodoro timer, the tomato timer. 20 minutes that set a timer for 20 minutes. And then you get a five minute break. And then set it for 20 minutes again and you can actually engage a Pomodoro timer on your computer. Where every 20 minutes it, um, alarm sounds and then five minutes later, 22222 time for you to go back to work. And they say that your brain engages Maurine the work that you're doing, because you know, there's an end point and a break that's coming. So you get really hyper folks like it. You need sensory rest. Because we're looking at screens. So you got to take breaks their important especially after dinner and before bed quickly. How's that going for you, Steve? No Light no blue light after 10 30. Hey, Grant. How's it going? Tell me not Well, Excuse me. I'm sorry. Badly a little bit of a cuff here at the moment. It is not going It is not going well. And there was one night last week that as I came into bed, and it was midnight No way said. Wow. Something like you really crushed it with your resolution. You need creative rest. It's kind of like mental rest, but even more focused on taking a break from problem solving and brainstorming. That's the problem. That's the stuff that rolls around in your head at night. Yeah, that's that's the great A crap, right? The worst. That's the great A crap. Caught. My one of my nicknames is still because I stew on everything. I just didn t Moore was another that I've been called Dante Moore anymore. Why I stew on after and 50 more beef stew literally sit there if something's like, if you remember when I had that dead air situation a couple week not here, but I literally thought about it for like a week, And every night I went to bed. I laid there. Just thinking about rookie move. Just you gotta move on. I know that you have to cause otherwise. It just consumes you. Yeah. You also need emotional rest. So you gotta separate yourself from things that make you feel emotionally overwhelmed. Even if that means friends and family motive. Lock you up. Butterfly kisses. Yeah, we got him. Uh, you need social rest. Hey. I've been resting socially, quite a bit. This year. You gotta lean on the positive and supportive people in your life and spend less time on the negative, destructive ones. Okay? Hmm. Whatever. I can go a long time without connecting with friends. Because I get with family, though no, I and it's It's not healthy with friends, either. I get a social as my social needs can get met. In a work environment, Sure, and then just wanna stay home and in veg out when you really need to have intentional conversations with people, you know what I mean. It's true. It's true because I'm getting older and I'm like loving being alone. That's not that's a recipe for like. Not a good future. Yeah, my brother delivered. We were all paper boys. So we delivered papers and one day he went to collect and he was like, Yeah, you know, 5 50 every two weeks, hopefully a tip as well. And Ah, let's call him Mr Krauser. Mr. Krause was just laying there watching TV, and he's like tennis guy. Just answer the door. Don't I don't want to know what happened to Mr Krauser, Please. Mr Krauser was dead. Oh, okay. Steve Donna. I mean, that's how the story that's how life Happened for my brother. So then what happened? Well, crowds were got it the way he wanted free papers those two weeks? No, he I believe was discovered by authorities or something..
