"Now get once. They got through the ncaa tournament. Embarrassment set in a numerous occasions but a famous georgetown oils and missing the tournament. For so many years you know the fact that when they were the three see the fact when they were to cede the fact when they were sixty and they were losing to utah and they're losing to. Nc state never looting to vcu when losing to davidson and they were losing to florida gulf coast. as two-three three seeds and sixties losing to ohio. I mean at the time. It was of great embarrassment in great depression and displeasure but boy wouldn't it be nice. Wouldn't it be nice if i could tell you. Hold your fancy That at the end of next season the hoyas were going to be competing for five or six seed in one of the your tournament regions when that. Be nice when that'd be awesome. So what's going to happen. I think they're going to be closer to being a solid. Nit swan next season but take baby steps. You know the jump that they made was in. I think that the season that they have was over achieving just despite not even taking into account the for games that they won a during the big conference tournament where they no gimmes there were. No gimme two wasn't like thank goodness for a lower seat for marquette beating villanova to where we didn't have to play them thank goodness that we all play that. Georgetown played all of the lower seeds and winning the conference championship. No no no. We played the number one seed region at far villanova's concerned we beat them. we'd be creighton. Who was the higher seat. So all the way through. We did our deal in terms of playing the competition and playing well moving now to next year. We'll see what happens if i'm dying to see the improvement that dante harris has made From the beginning of the season till the end of the season and now the next speech check for his improvement and development of the basketball player college basketball player will be wants december starts. I've always gotten my always neither my fix during the summer of georgetown basketball i am intently watching following those games. Just as much as i am during the regular season game so you know amina mohammed. He's not going to be playing than kennedy league. I believe he's going to be playing for the nigerian national team in the summer olympics. Which is awesome. Which is fantastic. Which is great. But also you know interested to see tyler. Beard interested to see jay and bill billingsley. I'm really interested to see Joined riley i think of all the freshmen. Who might play might get a chance to play. I think jordan riley could be that guy with athleticism to lend that to our team next season and also ryan matombo to combat tumblers kid interested to see what he's going to bring to the table. But you know one of the players that were not going to be having the opportunity to see how much improved is going to be cutest hob who entered the chance for parole portal. "That led to yet another. Touchdown for the Buccaneers. At that point you had safe hanging on by a thread. Still some time. But almost could see the writing on the wall. Reason. A gun. Two receivers left and right, here's the snap back to pass. Has Tom steps up in the pocket drives it deep down the right side passes tempted, intercepted on the sideline. The past got tipped up in the air, and it's picked off. By Mike Edwards. Third interception thrown by grew breeze The Buccaneers take over again with 4 17 to go and a 10 point lead. Call with Ryan Radke on the Westwood one radio network. Four total turnovers. Equals 1/4 straight playoff except for New Orleans without a Super Bowl appearance and man, they've been brutal exits too. The type of games that make you think. What if The Minneapolis miracle. Three years ago, the NFC championship game with the No call against the cattle, Roby Coleman. They lost in overtime, even though they had the ball first. Last year. Against the Minnesota Vikings, who were 1/6 seed. And now this Four turnovers. That led to 21 points. For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Certainly that is the game when you win the turnover battle and you are, plus foreign that takeaway category. You're generally sitting pretty even on the road. The council is incredible. All all game. The turnovers were huge. You know, Last time we played them, we gave you no way lost to turn over minus three. They was plus four. You're not gonna lose many games when you're plus forward. Todd had a great game plan for all the guys you know, and cook and Dante Harris was the guys that scared me. But guys really, really punched the ball out. Got one with my cock. Got the intersection coming guys really stepped up. Bruce Arians, giving credit to Todd Bowles, who had the defensive game plan for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he mentions two guys for the New Orleans Saints that Had rough moments. Jared Cook had the ball punched out as he said it turned into Fumble and that led to a Buccaneers. Touchdown, and then the Deonte Harris first half that was so dazzling Pot return touchdown that gets called back because of illegal block and he ends up with a neck injury that keeps him out for The second half old together. So is this the last we've seen of Drew Brees in the NFL. Think it's hard sometimes in the wake of a game like this with his three interceptions, not looking like the Drew Brees that we've seen most of his career to be myopic and focus and toe. Look on Lee at the end, as opposed to the body of work. He is one of the best quarterbacks who's ever played the game. The most accurate quarterback who's ever played the game at a high level into his forties. He is a perfect ambassador for the league. He's represented football. His city, his family with class and with grace, and with humility. He doesn't want a farewell tour. He doesn't want to be the center of attention. He cares more about the winning than he ever cares about the personal accolades. And maybe you saw the tweet from Tyron Matthews in New Orleans native If you didn't offer to share it with you, but check it out because he gives Drew Brees. So much credit For the way that he helped to restore hope. And faith. And excitement and joy. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, not just for the football, but for what he did in the community. And how Saints fans were able to rally around their city and their team. So you can find me on Twitter. A low radio will ask the question about Drew Brees of Christian Garrick when he joins us. In about 20 minutes. He does pre impose for the Saints Radio network. You can imagine the type of reaction locally. Coming up next, though, itwas Ah, finished. That was giving me heart palpitations in Kansas City. No Patrick Mahomes on Lee, A guy named Chad Henny at 35 years old. "Welcome back, everybody. We're joined by lines that Patricia's They get set to go against the saints. This one brought to you by D. C. Energy Coach been interesting this week to hear you talk about your relationship with Sean Payton. It goes back a long way. And there's a lot of respect between the two head coaches in this game today. Yeah, absolutely. I mean of the most respect for him. And really, he's been a great friend and really, you know, mentor to help me with my journey to as a coach and all Right through the NFL. He's been someone that I can always, you know, call or text and rely on, Teo. You know, to help me through. You know anything. I'm going with you. So he's been great. A great How competitive is it? I mean, you guys you're living in the same lives. But you're competing for the same thing. When you have those phone calls. Are they open phone calls? Could you talk about things that might affect a competitive advantage somewhere down the line? I definitely think you know when you have those relationships with guys that you know you can trust and kind of have those conversations with. You know you are, you know, Europe. You're honest and you know that those situations come up on When you're in competition. You're in competition. You know, that is what it is. And we got to go out and wait to compete with saints today. Defensively, saw some better things last week. What are some of the things you saw in that game against Arizona that you want to carry over into this one? No. I mean, I think you know in the big scale. Obviously the turnovers were great. I think that was obviously a huge spark for us defensively and get the ball back to our offense and Any time you can turn the ball over in the game, you know it's it's what you got to do. I think you know things do a great job protecting them, although they're not really going to give it to us, and just kind of throw it up, and that'll be a big challenge for us, But I think we just got to kind of build on some of the stuff that we did last week, and you keep trying to improve our run defense will have a huge challenge in front of us. I mean, Kamara and Murray. I mean, these guys are great backs. I mean, they do a great job in the run game, and that'll be a big force today, Toe. See where we're at sea if we could do it two weeks in a row, you know, so much has been made about Drew Brees and where he is in his career and what he's got a left and all those things and I know you believe he's got a lot left to get his absolute best today, But I think the thing that jumps out first and foremost the ball comes out so quickly when he's back there. How does that affect what you want to do? I mean, I think you know he's done a phenomenal job of getting the ball out, and he's just so smart, so quick, so cerebral with the game. He just goes through his progressions, and he knows right where he's gonna go A lot of times. He does stuff pre snap to help identify the coverage. And so he knows right away even before the ball snap where the ball has to go based on the coverage look that he's seen, so I think he's just playing smart. I think that's all it is. I think he's just playing smart and efficient and You know, trying to do everything he can to get the ball into his playmaker's hands, and I think he does a great job of it. You mentioned Kumar a moment ago. We saw in the game in last week where he could take a little check down past and turn it into a game changing play. What's the approach? When you have a guy like that? Because miss tackles really flip a game quickly? Yeah. I mean, you hit it right on the head there. We got to do a great job attack. When we got to get everybody the ball we gotta pursue. We gotta hustle. This guy's kind of makes him guys missed. I mean, he's one of the best backs in the league and Hey, does that people every single week You see it on tape? So, from our standpoint, you know, we gotta minimize that we're gonna do a great job of leverage, and we got to get everybody the ball. I mean, that's the biggest thing we gotta tackle offensively and talk to the guys this week. Things have gone okay, but to a man, they all say there's more out there. They feel like they've left some points on the board. That really just comes down to consistency and execution. There's nothing magic about it. It's just finished in drives. Yeah, no doubt. I think that's you know, it's a great point Emphasis force right now is we got, you know, got to get that ball in the end zone we get And there we have those opportunities. We can't. We can't miss those opportunities when you score touchdowns and the guys know that we gotta just execute better than what we're doing right now to make sure we get that done. Think one of the positives those that you have had a running game. It's probably not where you want it yet. But it's representative to the point where when Matthew goes, play action, those defenses have to respect it. Yeah, I mean, I think the running game has been really kind of one of our strong points right now this year and certainly something that We started with in camp that we thought we could build on here early in the season, But, you know, we need to keep balance to the offense and when you need to expand on what we're doing right now, So you know, we really are conscious or trying to make sure that everything is complimentary, Coach Final thing When you're playing a team like this, you know, it's gonna be a tight game. Special teams going binky your special teams to perform well so far. Dante Harris.

"Metropolitan area since nineteen eighty to call for ten to five six seven two eight five. All right checking the lucid meter here. This morning to see how lucid mayor Pugh is on a scale of one to ten on Friday of last week. She was a one we heard by Monday. It was up the three we may be at five now on the lucid meter once we in that seven eight range, then she may be loosened enough to make a decision to eventually resign or step down. So we'll keep track on the lucid meter here in the program, by the way. This murder case against auntie Harris now in the hands of the jury, and there is a little bit of a I guess, I don't know if it goes portends a bad omen, or we'll tell you what the alternate juror saying just a second. But basically, they're arguing that the the defense Warren Brown in his closing argument. Yesterday, does not dispute that Dante Harris killed officer Amy Caprio, quote, it ain't a matter of innocence. We know that he's responsible for her death, and that's between him and God. No that's not between him a guy. You know? It's either, you know, he's charged with murder early this manslaughter here the particular case. But again, this is the young thug from Gilmore homes in west Baltimore. He and his young thug. Friends skip school that day. And of course, we're expected to believe that young thug. Dante Harris did not know the Jeep in which he was joy writing in was stolen. His fingerprints were all over and he was behind the wheel when he ran over officer cabriolet, but he know the Jeep was stolen. Yeah. It was just, you know, one of these, you know, ridesharing services now they offer in west Baltimore. Secondly, we're being told that he didn't know his friends while he was waiting forty two minutes outside in the neighboring. He didn't really was familiar with didn't grow up in you know, you skip school usually hang out in the neighborhood. You do whatever. No, they got into a stolen Jeep and went to this neighborhood and Perry hall. And waited forty two minutes, and there are text messages to confirm this he and his buddies. They were inside burglarizing numerous homes some of those items were in the Jeep. When he was in it as well. So they were in and out of homes bringing out the good work expected. Aided. No, his buddies his thug friends were in there stealing from decent. Honorable hard-working law-abiding citizens. Everything was just a big coincidence for Dante Harris didn't know the Jeep stolen did know his thug friends were burglarizing homes and didn't know how to react when an officer pulled them over. And then pulled a gun on him. He panicked. However, why we're not in that jury room. We're not in the courtroom one alternate juror. They were just both this yesterday's said this regarding the deliberations, quote, it's a tough case it really is. And of quote. Upset some of these things at the defense says, especially in cases, where it would appear to be absurd. As to the defenses position on this matter. It's up to the jury obviously to decide and of course, Warren Brown, and this particular case doing his level best the try to get his client all so sometimes when the the evidence is so obvious. Your your defense. Sounds a little at Cerdan as the prosecution has indicated and so the jury will sift through this. I doubt in Baltimore County. If you're going to see a jury that's going to buy into this. But that's just my opinion right now. Well, one of the jurors said tough case, really, you think this is a tough case. Oh, I again that to me is is just mind boggling if you're going to believe that three or four thugs from west Baltimore Steeler Jeep go to Perry. Hall burglarize homes. He's the lookout the getaway car. He runs over. A cop kills after tough case. Well, it may not be speaking. Well, maybe the jury pool is a little bit effective. We'll see we'll give the rest of the jury credit. We'll see what they come up with Stevens racers down. Steve good morning. You're on CBS. Good morning to you that it was time for professional jurors, and I really think depending on the higher level of jewelry. Who? Oh, the wrong way long way for the bottom county records. Are we going to get into street? Like, Freddie, gray will only in effect have a professional jury already in the form of a judge. I mean, the judge is the is basically the one that makes the decision, and if you had professionals and the judges the professional because he's paid to be a judge, though, if you had a professional jury. On a jury trial trial Detroit by a jury of your peers in a bench trial your. And that's that's a prerequisite prerequisite to that you are you know, that you're tried by a jury of your peers, but you have the option in some cases, whether you want the jury trawler, but what do you think? Found innocent. Are we going to be in the streets? Not I don't think you'll see that. But I do think there will be held a pay in some way, shape or form, and we're not in that courtroom. But this is just absurd. I understand warm Brown has a job to do. He's a defense attorney is trying to get his client acquitted. But again, this is what is amazing to me. Everybody stipulates that he's guilty. He's responsible for her death. Now, the question is guilty of murder felony murder of or if it's felony murder in this particular case, obviously, the punishment is going to be a lot more severe while. So here's my next question. You're in a car, it's not your car, and it's not any one of your friend's car. Would you think somebody loaned you a brand new Jeep he's he's trying to minimize the damage here? Warren brown. I mean it. You're going to as I said before when the evidence is so obvious some of it some of the things some of the things that you say that get the trodden minimize the potential severity of the sentence is going to sound kind of ridiculous. And again, it'll be up to the jury in this particular case to decide whether. Hit the guy is going to be found guilty of first degree murder, or if it's going to be something less than that. We'll see we'll see what the jury. You know, they make them back with the verdict today. Seven fourteen time for WCBS, traffic and weather first with the update, here's the king of all traffic. "Eight five Coming, up, this, hour Thugs, involved the alleged death the, Baltimore County. Police officer Amy Caprio their attorneys want them out on bail on detention capital, gazette alleged killer pleaded not guilty yesterday we'll get into those stories and more Baltimore bishops praising the pope's actions against. The alleged cardinal predator there's probably going to. Be a speed camera red light camera on. Just about every intersection Baltimore seems to be in. Love with the revenue should there be public financing, of Baltimore City elections and other charter? Amendment up for discussion and when you hear the rundown in our Trump derangement syndrome update, coming up in minutes it is one of the longest ones we've ever had is the longer the. Presence days in office the more unhinged people on the left and in the swamp become as we, referenced earlier this morning several of the four team thugs involved in the death of officer MB Caprio that the driver of, the Jeep Dante Harris she is going to. Be held out bail you're not. Getting out anytime soon But lawyers for the. Other three are now asking that they be released on bail one of them wants their clients out, on home detention that did not work well with Dante Harris did it he escaped AJ Montgomery County juvenile detention center and, then was put on home detention and he. Was out burglarizing and kill killing So these attorneys under the judge in this case we wondered earlier because one of the attorneys Wants to have them all tried together and the judge in the case, judge John, Alexander is order that a study be. Completed on the matter whether to again the I'm. Sorry, the state wants them all tried together the public defender. Does not want it. To happen obviously Jared Rambos the, alleged killer, capital gazette, five staff members, they're pleading, not guilty there is a ton. Of evidence but now of course the defense attorneys I think obviously is no death penalty here they're probably trying, to get him out of prison without any, possibility of parole or maybe even plead, criminal insanity but he's pleaded. Not guilty when clearly it's I think it's a, slam, dunk, case but, that's, what lawyers do they have to represent their clients get due process Baltimore Bishop William. Lori praise pope, Francis decision over the weekend to accept the The resignation of the former Washington. Archbishop and cardinal Theodore. McCarrick Lori said he was shaken, by by, the river, legit I mean, I understand, that archbishop will with all due. Respect your eminence but the bottom line is you really shaken after everything that's happened in with Cardinal Law with, what's happened with the church or the last, twenty twenty even mentioned at archbishop Maury, mentions it in his statement. Saying we must make clear that we will not tolerate, criminal, and evil, behavior, regardless of the rank and standing of the accused He went on to praise pope Francis saying the holy father's action is a step and. Helping eliminate the evil of sexual abuse, in our church in the building a culture of accountability and transparency I am grateful to the Holy Father for his actions So but benign. Shaken might be because of the ongoing traumatic issue. That continues to plague the Catholic church certainly not surprised What's, been going, on and, what has. Been tolerated over, the years it is a very very sad until the criminally begin prosecuting. These priests bishops cardinals et cetera Then you're still going to have this kind of a slap on. The wrist go live, out the rest of your days in, a nice, little clergy, retirement facility All. Right so now that we know the Baltimore's in absolute a, love with revenue from speed and red light cameras we're gonna get lots, more three dozen new locations, most of the newcomers. Will be added to the. City system although some existing cameras going to be moved to new places. Right now there are forty-one speed cameras fifty two, red light cameras were total of ninety. Three were, expecting now at least thirty five to forty more at least so the network. Of speed and red light cameras illicit twenty five million dollars in fines, last year Twenty. Five million The speed cameras issued close to four. Hundred thousand fines and the red light cameras issued about one hundred and twenty. Six thousand fines And for, the total of again. Twenty five million dollars so we're going to see, now. This is the third time we've tried the Catholic program the traffic camera program the, first few times the cameras issued eroneous tickets Frank I'm not aware of anything right now that either the Baltimore police department. Or the there's a son investigation or whether they are performing audits to see whether or not, we're having the same kinds of problems but when. You producers kinda revenue in twenty five million dollars. In one year one year alone they're going. To be, a lot more cameras coming we'll, have to see it's gonna take a while I'm sure before various complaints may be registered in. Fact there may be already complaints registered but we haven't heard whether or not There. Are problems with the either the red light cameras or the speed cameras but we'll have, to see right now. The jury is out all we know is the, money. Is coming in and lots of it to say the least and the Baltimore mayor, Catherine Pugh is now going to sign off on to charter amendments for the ballot on November this is for city voters. They will get to choose whether or not they believe that campaign should be publicly financed in, Baltimore City and the number two is whether the. Inspector general should be independent I'm all heartedly for. The ladder I do think that you know. We keep, hearing that this would be the, end of big money politics in Baltimore No it would not be the end of, it because this is the first. Amendment issue if I'm a corporation or a business or a leading influence or, it is my political absolute first amendment right to donate money. To anybody Scampi now you can put a limit on it which they've done but you cannot prohibit private donations to, public officials cannot do it now it may reduce the cost of some of these campaigns may. Put people on a more. Even footing but I don't think I know some other jurisdictions have done it and what I think Howard. Montgomery if I'm not mistaken may of actually have done this in. Maryland but you could either accept. Or reject public funding for an, election I think it was Ellen Sauerbrey one year I think decided to accept it Rejected Well she originally except that the public, financing but you can either accept or reject. It so it doesn't put the public sector out of business as far as being able to donate to campaign? Right it's eight fourteen fourteen minutes after the hour time once again for WCBS traffic and weather first with the. Update here's the king of all, traffic Chuck, Whitaker, Sean still down to a single. Lane the accident eastbound I seventy just before the. Beltway it's still blocking the center and the right. Lane. Several, actually the medical just left state highway. Trucks are. There the rollback is there and another piece of equipment is on the, scene but we're down to a single lane as you're coming in from Howard county just looked at the tail end of the backup into the inner change coming up from twenty. Nine so we're also getting a delay from twenty nine north and from seventy. Eastbound so one option you're gonna run into some heavy, traffic but forty east at least to the beltway to get around the backup here on I. Seventy there's really no impact for the traffic westbound coming off the beltway through. There and of course the beltway Still. Recovering the record on the outer loop at should avenue the block the, right lane for the better part of an hour and that delays still continues from Ville coming down the west side but a major backup as you're coming out of Howard county. On eastbound seventy Chuck Whitaker with traffic and weather first talk radio six hundred. Eighty WCBS WTVN Weather Channel forecast it's going to be, wet at least for the next four or five days showers and scattered showers today high of. Eighty four degrees current temperatures went downtown Baltimore right now we have seventy degrees. And in Pasadena, seventy degrees Coming up on the news.
