"Always set up then and who knows you know as good as meanest. There's there's a lotta means career from here on out. Looks like and if that for some reason you know for some reason was put on a shelf or or you know me retired given different trainer. Obviously all all bunch speculation right now but there. There is a hat to bell was one becoming one of. I mean she was one of the best female sprinters in the country. Now but there is a path in my opinion to were many getting there Depending on how these next few weeks or months play out for -sconsin she's right up there with those one on talent. Those two can easily be you know. I i think though still improving or peaky which is a very good thing. I think that they they'll have promising years. Actually things play out in their favor like they could and now we're going to move onto the next race. Which was one of several very interesting graded stakes races from this past sunday. And that was the eaten town. Stakes at monmouth park in this race was a a race of horses that were. I don't wanna say our second tier turf forces going going to turns but horses that are i would say knocking on the door. Trying to get to a position where they can factor in some of these Races at it's going to be very interesting to see how how some of the horses in this race come out of it. But the winter horseshoes rapidly becoming one. That is i think maybe not this year but going along. Maybe even may take her into her five-year-old year but one who's going to be a really good horse at some point. That's vigilantes way for for shook mcgahey. Another phipps horsa If you remember how high this this show can be on fifth sources that could be an indication at some point as to where a support could be for vigilantes way but at the moment she's coming out of two really nice races. She was second to mean mary in the on preakness weekend and we know how good mean. Mary was a in the race. She came back in and really in her overall career. So for vigilantes way of horse who is still clearly trying to find herself to run as good as she did behind mary. That's certainly something you've got to credit her for. This wasn't the best group in the world but there are some decent horses in here Horses that i thought we're going to run a lot better in horses who are graded stakes. Caliber speak to me of summer. Michelin sweet by horses. Even counterparty risk horses on their best day are graded stakes. Winners and vigilantes wait. Beat them and she beat them convincingly. So that's something that you got to be very optimistic about her for. I don't know what's going to be ahead of ahead for her. The turf route division is kind of all over the place. I don't really know wh who you don't really know who the leader is. You know we set a couple of weeks ago that it was mean mary but mean mary. His won two races where she had everything go her own way and she essentially walked. So you know you don't really know what what the deal is with that and it's wide open for someone to take it. I'm not ready to say that. Vigilantes way is there yet but she's getting closer to a point where she can be a have a claim for the top of this division. She's on her way. Definitely you know. This is a very interesting because early on in her career she was you know she made her first starts on the durrance. He seemed like she had some promise there. But then last summer should negate. He did something that you don't typically see from him is ship to second or third tier track to try and give a horse confident he is willing to just throw them to the dogs wherever he is But but instead he he. He went to colonial downs and laurel for this philly in allowance. Company she warned both of those impressively cementing. She's a turkey and he's really brand. Good races every starts since then. This is the first time. he's broken. Through at the graded stakes level. I also might add A very very interesting note From from last year when the was getting going she broke her maiden tampa by two and a quarter lengths. The runner up in that race when it's still low talent tosa who has since gone on to break her main and become a graded stakes winner. Agreed one place as well so very interesting to see Just a random allowance race a race. Excuse me from april april twenty twenty at tampa turnout to graded stakes winners. And but for digilent- he's now I agree with jack that you know. She's on her way. She clearly gallery was no fluke only losing by a half length to mean mary by the distance. Wise honestly think amount of sixteenth. Which was the distance of this race. Probably on the bottom side for her mile. Eight mile and a quarter. I think are going to be distances. She likes him. I do hope that they go to a recent diana that spacing is probably the probably tied. Shoot me gate. you would want it to be Nowadays should face out his horse races quite a bit but I think that this that should be enough given. She has a ton of starts this season and they've been well spaced throughout so that's where i hope they go with her. She seems like a horse that could really flourish over that track at saratoga. It's not something we've got also thought some some promising runs underneath. The letter was a big long shot. from the danny goggin bar. Who ran pretty strong on the lead in the counterparty risk in crystal clips were third and fourth in that respect came from kind of off the pace race. Had a priest slow. You know fractions throughout so they rally well if you find them in resets can have a quicker pace definitely know. Dial it in on them. And now we're going to move onto the final race we're gonna recap from last week and and this was degrade three poker. This really was a race. It was being said all weekend but this was a racist masquerading as a great one. Despite being a great three and we had a big upset in this race. I do remember specifically saying last week in that i did not think aleksandra was to be able to get a. It didn't really. I didn't really think that she she wanted to go. That far but clearly ended up. Proving me wrong. you know. It's unfortunate and the thing that we got a mention about this. Is nope no news organization. Pick this up very widely under reported. Aleksandra was actually in full to intimacy up at this point so she was pregnant in the race. Still wound up winning anyway so You know..

"Race fans and i just got a curve from the from the desk from the engineering department. Such as we have it can usually tell if casey. That's the leap up before we talk in the morning Or if it's Sometimes asia. And i thought for sure it was deja and then i got. This is the asia high guessing. It's you on the board. And she said no no. It's not so was case case. You've i surprised me because you you were you. Were playing stuff. The days usually plays leading in to the morning. So good morning case and dacia. If you're somewhere listen inc and here. We are on monday of our last broadcast week of the year. And i i will. Not i will try not to sound either. You know gleeful or relieved i bought. Let's be you know. Let's who isn't reaching for the wire right about now right. It's it it's been a challenge From every you know what are you gonna. I don't think it's any surprise. What he what else can you say it from. Whatever perspective view you come at it still. You love doing what you do. But boy Contested everybody everybody's been tested and as we've sat all year and and as we go through this week will certainly get year end. Know those year. End those compendium kind of discussions that that we have. So that's the itinerary plus lots of great. At our christmas music for the brakes all week so we can get as many of our favorites in and Sent out into the holidays into the last couple of weeks of the year in in high spirits. Right certainly wrapped up yesterday and some high spirits that was. I enjoyed enjoyed listening. I couldn't even watch. Couldn't even watch the eagles yesterday because they pull the bayton switch on fox they all week. Oh saints eagles. Eagles saint saint eagles and then literally at four twenty five th they slapped on the niners and washington so it wasn't happy either. I ended up listening on the radio. Which all right. But i was excited to you know to watch a jalen hurts and i have a few conversations today with with louisiana based visitors so i don't think i don't think i can be doing too much you know too much gloating on the on. The eagles win over the saints. Not with not with the visitors that visitors that are coming today from from louisiana. So i'll keep that. I'll keep that to a minimum. Nice weekend overall. I mean i thought the you know the racing particularly on saturday. And we'll we'll talk to danny goggin about tax and nice comeback. There i mean it's it's fun when you get to this juncture in the year post readers cop and you get comeback irs that either you you see highlights or you see You know advance notice. Oh so and so is pointing for this or whatever and some cases sources you've completely forgotten about and to be honest i'd kind of forgotten about tax and so when you know when he turned up for that harlan's holiday on saturday. You want horses like this to come back and come back. Well that was. That was more than coming back. Well he he looked terrific. So we'll talk to danny and quite a number of performers from the weekend with the fort lauderdale the sugar swirl etc in the rampart. The the my charmer are gonna come back. Pegasus day and that includes l'argent know todd pletcher today. Todd pletcher tomorrow. And i got a ton of things to talk to pletcher about Since we visited last In october so we got about eight weeks of of winters very quietly. Todd pletcher has been coming on strong this last quarter and l'argent the other the other pletcher in the fort lauderdale wow with taco lopez and Big dave i think a clips of one. At least i didn't even look at I think they might have want something at los altos. Now that i think about it but Two winners todd. With four on the day. And there's a lot going on so we'll talk to the pletcher barn tomorrow and get a year end synopsis and get a handle on what feels like quite a few two year olds i i was actually going through the i save the charts and maidens and steaks and so forth and you know interesting horses and then i rifle through them in advance of visit And there's quite a few so todd tomorrow but l'argent with the pricey upset in the fort lard lauderdale lauderdale and tax as mentioned. We'll talk to danny later in the hour and lady's island georgina. baxter for the t. Racing and partners and we're going to talk to duke. Duke was down there. He came in and as much for pay any price for the the swan song the career finale for the turf sprinter and he was certainly noble out with a good try on friday now and but then lady's island basically gave everybody a a lift after saying goodbye to the pay any price. Oh duke is home. He got home funny. I i woke up very early and via texts. That joke he literally had just gotten in. That was like a two thirty this morning. Of course eleven thirty pacific. So we'll talk the duke matisse at the top of the hour about graded stake win the sugar. Swirl how romeo aboard lady's island and the farewell of.

"Marion county steak. The florida sire steak and one often nice price too was almost six to one eight thirteen sixty and chivalry who's made Down over four hundred thousand actually. Very nice the Fred bri jacker better and I also always happy to see terri. Pompeii with a win. Terry pay and the my purple haze team with their home bred wildcat air mayor. Who's got the greatest name aerosol aerosol. I always makes me smile when i see it She wins the the city of ocala race and that was under and with authority went off just favored little under two one paid five eighty so those those two and plenty more. There's we got we got the the action from lowe's al including that soviet problem and some made action got plenty more as well Don't want to give you the rest of those fair grounds winners from the champions day and we got in addition to bank it Who won yesterday. The my gosh. I don't think. I don't think i put that Yesterday's that i put yesterday stake in the in the package. I don't think i did. Maybe i did in the bay. Rich lucky move in that story. It was the short field and lucky move. Came back with a win after that. Good effort last time. So there's just a few of the headlines Vic powell's gonna join us then danny goggin duke matisse john hurt koby hernandez and i think steve anderson because i want steve to give you the we never got to him on friday and we just had a little too much going on but i did want to hear about the weekend at Los alamos the quarter or side. You had the two big the champion of champions and then you had the two million dollars thirty last night. So get those from from steve. Right now though. Dick powell standing by and we dive into the late night or early morning. Action from shot in the eye are always always of interest and the kinds of participants including breeders cup. Exeter's and much more dick morning. Good morning steve. Good to talk to you on a monday next time. Call me. I have the. Nfl season ticket package so no orleans on the eagles. For on what the jets jets. The jets are so bad. They weren't even on yesterday in this market. Is it put it on channel seven. Thirteen to watch the jets seattle yesterday. So well the jets the jets seemingly are are. They've got something very very specific on their mind. Obviously which is to stay ahead of jacksonville to get that first back. That's become very apparent after last week where we're good at it. I love it. Well i i did not. I did not appreciate what fox the stunt fox bold. I mean you you you don't i mean i understand why they did it because they felt that you know with the giants fans having interest in the market. You know that they'd wanna see the redskin game. Okay i guess but you know you. You've advertised the eagles saint game all week and literally at kickoff you you just slap that other game on without any without any notice. I thought that that was A lowbrow stunt. That's the beauty of having direct tv and the nfl package. I had i had it for a while. I had it for a while. And i think i think i had it for two two years and i went back to back to a time warner well. The the thing is that the jets are so bad in a sixteen game season. There's gonna be to retrieve games that are not going to be on in this market. They'll pick up buffalo The pickup new england. Yesterday they picked up. You know kansas city miami. I know that's a better national game. But there's no regional interest in that game so even then wha- what that bad on a test pattern anything well. It was a long day. Then for you because Did you get up able to able to rouse yourself. for the action I had a mouse rows me to action early sunday morning. It's getting cold out and something got caught in the wall and it was making us unbelievable rackets restaurant midnight so i watched race four live. I've watched race five sprint. The half.

Be a pair of running to the Arkansas Derby. Well we'll what finally th that's and that's a story in itself because it was such a rough Winter and there were so many Saturdays you tune in and there was rain and it hoped for Sunday and would continue but the close out like this That's a positive The fourteen race car tomorrow A quick thought Mary and I don't know if you saw I talked to my reached out to Danny Goggin. Ice Princess running in the fans to see your fantasy thought before we talk about The pick three Steaks Saturday fabulous race Everyone has certainly had the same feeling. I recognition harbor in there maybe to control the pace And that she seems like she's a pretty exciting philly and and certainly have to respect the chant British idiom in their turn then quickly to Saturday and the two divisions they've been impacted by scratches. We've gone from eleven horsfield's in both two nine Horsfield and it seems to leave Charlotte in Very much in control of the first division there very tough in there for sure. Seve and You know I'm looking forward to seeing how Governor Morris Run does well and a basin as well. You know it's interesting horses in there but from a pace standpoint that definitely He's the worst run down and the oaklawn handicap the great great field as well You know I think. I'm going to give the respect to combatant off Fan Anita Handicap win. And I'm very interested to see what mister freeze does. Well we got some insight. Actually Mike Mike seem to kind of Raised a little bit of a little bit of a an alarm. Not An alarm bell. It sounded to me like Mike hasn't been impressed with Mr Freeze You know after the the big effort in the last As he was with him going in. Let's talk about the Arkansas Derby Division. To and this is the one that really seems to be well. Balanced the oddest pay seems to be established. Wells by you is is gonNA WANNA go. King Guillermo likes to be in the vanguard and and we'll see how Rosario and the Dowell Decided to handle things when the gates. Oh know I'd be like his Allen here. He was out this morning. Canada's really deserve beautiful this morning composed stood in for a wild took in the training thing and decided easy gallops and I think Steve I have to say his heart In the fight that he showed last time. This just really impressed me. And I'm excited to see him running. This is a great test. This is a great measuring. Stick this group of horses. He gets to to run against here and then put that at three for three record on the line well and Mary The curious who you. Who did you end up within the trails end in the mile and three quarter of your.

"I haven't looked at the thurbers daily news yet today but apparently i only pulled up the link speaking of you know being of a certain age bill finley caught up with cecchi green who is plenty is playing the races on a daily basis in vegas. He's he he. He hangs out at a couple of sports books and i got a big kick out of it. <hes> i gotta read the whole article but so there you go. There's another <hes> another another era. The you know you gotta be a certain age to know that name well and folks you <hes> stiller watching odd couple reruns. If you're not old enough you may not know the jack. Klugman was a big player of the game and not a big player game but at a couple of big horses during that is absolutely a career as well. You bet you bet i'm looking forward to reading that base. <hes> 'cause i always loved <hes> although you don't see him you don't seem as much but or or much at all talented to absolutely absolutely and pretty funny the we just we went off in this direction using jack whitaker. Did you go to the draw last night. I did very well attended very well attended. I mean the little courtyard with with the draw was wall-to-wall <hes> and then there's the second little courtyard was full. There was an inside area. That was all pretty much. All the connections certainly the major trainers except for baffert obviously <hes> but the major trainers were all there the owners were there <hes> dean. We've been randy l <hes> were there <hes> and and it was it was a fun of it. I mean the game plan is <hes> has been <hes> to bring it. <hes> these draws though the whitney which was over experience and <hes> the travers which last couple years has been identified kind of bring it downtown and mingle detract in downtown. I think they did that. Successfully yesterday was a little bit crowded but it was a good event with all the major players showing up and andy interviewed all of them at a folks me read comments subsequently but i'll reiterate iterative was funny when danny gergen got up there and said i'm going to twelve posts so anybody else going. I'm going somebody tweeted <hes> last night to me. Where's the speed in the race and mount be danny goggin according to what he says he's going to go from the twelfth post position so we'll see how that works out saturday but it was a a very well.

"Then the two tend to ones runs of chad so you mix and match them be be interesting to see where those numbers go north and south in full field which gustavo the seven hundred chess chief dallas stuart. Mike smith writing thirty two one. Here's looking to bikini in the nine hole ten to one a lot of people talking about you know the dead rail circumstance and being out a little wider the dead rail was a big part of the conversation in fact when you listen to the the trainers after a drop of course after a rain like like we got today who knows just watch how the racetrack plays the next two full days and then into friday into saturday and how our place saturday early in the day because there's really no telling you know once the once the track <hes> gets inundated and of course i'm sure sure sure that had sealed the glencoe zach and staff so the be interesting to see today tomorrow and on the new york bred showcase day friday how the the inside is scars are cool. The this is another sort of replacement a horse for stan and the sagamore team and <hes> global campaign had had been a midseason hope for opportunities like this and a couple of different issues. I think <hes> even if he was right <hes> <hes> necessarily a guarantee that that this would be to his to his liking but scars are cool jumps in in his stead so another of the late editions yeah. I mean the horses that we didn't expect in here. Muccio gustavo chess chief and scars cool so a quarter of the field kind of morphed left and changed into saturday's feature endorsed joel rosario karyn mclaughlin fifteen to one and certainly certainly endorsed <hes> has got has got his supporters coming out of the you know the good stretch out effort he had not been beyond a one turn mile going back to the champagne and stretched out to the mile in the eighth in the carlin and ran very well i i wasn't i wasn't keen on them myself going into into the carlin and that gets us out. He's in the eleventh hole and that gets you. The tax and danny goggin said the media well this. This gives us no choice. We're going to have to go and erat ortiz junior in your we'll take tax to the lead ideally not losing so much ground but i mean endorsed. Endorse is going to be certainly gonna wanna get position early right. It was inside right. He's gonna wanna get position position. Scars or cool is going to get some position with gaff leon muccio cousteau. You know how baffert operates i mean. He was a little further back in his recent recent efforts in the affirmed in the haskell a little further back than had been going into the season he had been and much more forward type so we'll see but you know baffled. Baffert has more or less is one direction. That's go forward. I'd look into bikinis is gonna want position their horses to taxes inside ride. Everybody else that wants to be second third fourth early. It's gonna make it very tricky..

"Cheering really cool this was and so easy you to be excited for Louis Carla Hall who has done an exceptional job with this source but is just as capable with any kind of horse and and Raymond could not make it up from Jersey. Mr Memo's eighty seven he was here last year and he just just wasn't up to the SCHLEP understood congratulate the MOANS and all their friends there was quite a few of the of the Jersey Philly faithful that were around to enjoy it and celebrate it was spectacular. We'll talk to Louis and a little bit and the rest of that reeling group will have to figure out what to do next the bowling green wildly wildly contentious and you got the one thing that you didn't necessarily expect and that was a horse that more or less took control or established control in position and then somehow withstood repeated challenges channel cat hat. If you've got a English Channel there's only one trainer to see go. Go take them to the top letcher because todd understands English channels for good reason and wow this was unbelievable and I I thought three times in deep stretch that says and channel Cat were being swamped. He absolutely lost the lead need maybe twice and then surged again sayas carries horses to the wire in in that kind of setting. I can't say it enough looking up at three pictures that he did. It did it for for our horses. "Save you fifteen percent or more on motorcycle insurance. Welcome back to the in the gate podcast as most of the world knows the last great untapped market. In the world of western business is China the country that has almost one and a half billion people roughly one fifth of the world's population. But has been exposed to relatively little of the western world's consumer offerings on the southeastern side of China. Lies the island of Hong Kong it was under British rule, but reverted to Chinese control in nineteen Ninety-seven. The island remains a special administrative district of China though, operating almost as its own country almost that is many practices that are not allowed in mainland. China are allowed in Hong Kong gambling among them. So it was a little odd, and yet understandable that the Hong Kong Jockey club, which operates arguably the most successful horse racing business in all the world would try. To dip it's perverted toe in the water by trying to bring thoroughbred racing to the mainland you'd think it would never happen. But in fact, it has happened sort of the Hong Kong Jockey club built a race track and training facility called chew FAA. Race course located on the mainland about a three and a half hour drive from Hong Kong, it's roughly as far drive as Saratoga is from New York City. Although with that drive, which I've done myself. You don't have to switch which side of the road. You drive on you do have to do that. When you go from Hong Kong once a British holding to mainland China too far opened for training last August and this year on March twenty third five races were run their Nordic warriors now Tyke in control with one hundred waiters lamp together. And he starting to clear out. Hey, if a Matthew Chadwick and Nordic warrior will when the first rights at CHOGM fat. Now, there's still no betting whatsoever allowed in China proper. And no live broadcasts either. So the only way the raises a chew FAA were allowed to be shown in Hong Kong for betting purposes was on a fifteen minute delay. What was it like there? And what's the future of racing in the world's most populous country. Let's get a sense of things by welcoming in for the first time to indicate the trainer who won the very first race held a Tufa. His name is Richard Gibson, any joins us for a few minutes here on negate, what was it like to be there at you fought for that exhibition card. Well, you know, I think maybe an few years time five ten years time, you you might look at it. And look back at that day is a real sort of highlight in your career the home from trophy club of invested so many billions of of Hong Kong dollars that they've lost current and they built this gigantic training complex six looks quite similar to sensory terrorists. A huge huge huge to induct tracks and the crowd that was full of guests from the jockey club. And or any about five thousand VIP's, and it was great three part of it. And the and even better to be able to to win the first big race. Then there weren't that many regular spectators. I hear about thirty five hundred was about the number listed. So what was the energy like in the place? Well, you know, I I've been to show jumping events in Hong Kong, and whether big VIP are is. And then there's a rather small up area for the public, and it was a little bit similar to that. You know, I think pops VIP area was was over VIP and the public area this hill abandoned, I think they were inquisitive momentum else they were just checking out this area chewing FAA is kind of mountainous. It's kind of a hot springs resort area. Yeah. It's about a four hour drive from. I'm calling up a boy to hear from the big city called Shinzan. So be about two and a half thousand north of shrines. And and yeah, you know, it's gotta drive two and a half hours before you hit some some countryside in Valerie agricultural area so off notions. Does this? I mean, put it this way here in the states. We have. Saratoga race course in upstate New York. Which is also about a three hour ride from New York City, and it's a place where people go all summer long for vacation, all kinds of other outdoor activities. And then they go to the races. Yeah. You know? I'm not on tyrod Togo. Well, but I'm not familiar with different parts of China. But yeah, definitely a high end tourist area with golf courses and unhoped springs. So I mean, do you envision this becoming the summer place to be the same way? Saratoga is in the states. From tourism point of view. I don't think so no, but the club of gone here because it's more of a big political picture. We're now hearing the press all the time about the the great bay area. So it's the amalgamation the next step of of Hong Kong being cooperated in the south bay area with with Mikhail and going down Gwen Joe, and it's a big political picture. Well in that regard. I mean, obviously, the British are gone. So Hong Kong is now part of China. What about the people who live in Hong Kong? Are they starting to feel like part of China or do they still feel like their own region? I think the Hong Kong patriarch thick and very proud of that of their island in the success of their economy. And yeah, I think this gradual step by step in becoming part of this. Great barrier. How difficult. Easy or accessible is chosen fought for horsemen. In Hong Kong. In other words, how many are going to bring their horses there to train as opposed to training at shot in or Happy Valley. Well, the I think currently. I'd say roughly turning back up in the numbers club trickle feeding numbers into it. Every three to six months that surely trading up the stuff momentum else's. So they have all been completed as is just getting the stuff Creighton for local stuff during up to a big big sense of what is the advantage of bringing a horse to train there just to have some different environment. Or is there something about the place? Yeah. I think currently in Hong Kong in home, call was twelve hundred horses trained in ho cone there in Shelton and nearly and I think from Cohn we'd like to increase the population. And we have knife other room to expand here in Shelton. And it's the reason to expand in China. And you know, obviously, there's a there's a long term. Plan that they would like like to raise that one day when it's politically correct to accept Emily trainer. Richard Gibson is with us here on the gate. He was the winner of the very first race held that show fi racing facility in mainland China. Now that of course, brings us to the eight hundred pound gorilla in the room that there is still no betting allowed in mainland China. Do you see this as a little toe in the water towards that? Or is there really no chance of that ever happening? Well, you know, I'm just a train in what I see from the side is it's a step by step learning process on the Chinese growing having confidence with Hong Kong Jockey club. They've seen. The club's huge success and significant financial power on the island. So yeah, I'm sure that's the long term go when it happens you're you'd have to speak to to see or Andrew haunting. But I'm sure that plans on horizon, the track is oddly shaped, it's basically an egg shape where one of the turns is tighter than the other turn. And of course, this being outside of North America. The turf track is outside of the dirt track is that dirt track synthetic dirt. Or is that conventional dirt? No. It's just like, you know, we we'll we have an American here running track. And it's a it's a it's a Detrick. So you are actually importing dirt horses. The kind that run here in North America as well. Well, we have twenty five percent about program is to train on every day. I think actually it's they'll something that America in Hong Kong and expand on historically the American voices haven't done well here. There's a local bias against medication rules in America. I was killing sales for the first time I've been arrived in Hong Kong last year. I thought suitable yelling and Keno and converse. Well, we could talk about the medication issue all day. But we'll leave that for another show, but you do run your horses there. On third medication free is what I'm gathering. Yeah. We're having very very strict regulation in this world. And then you had a straight Aaron in UK. We have a very straight that regulation and knew all the that is done by Hongkong rookie club vets. So there's no outside that recessions are allowed to practice here. So it's very controlled on on wall medication is allowed and when it for mid to ranks, what feedback did you get from the Chinese officials on mainland China about Trump fi and the execution of this exhibition day in late March. Well, I think there's no hiding the fact that the Chinese are being in that they of amazed by the own model don't control club model. The parent. Turnover is one point three billion Hong Kong dollars every race day. So that tonight for the the Joe up creates has been a mentally an official to Hong Kong society and the jockey club, a huge donors in old charities hospitals schools for centers, museums again, the figures you have to get from the guy from the club. But on the show my head club. The Nate about one hundred twenty million US dollars to charity foundations and thrived for this part of the world. I really thought I'd see Haley's comet come around before. I saw horses running on mainland China, by the way, Haley's comet two thousand sixty one. But here we are. We spoke with a man who was there. Thank you so much for sharing this. Thank you very much. Thank you. Our thanks to Richard Gibson into Danny Goggin lost. Amidst the hand wringing over the deaths at Santa Anita is that a far more dangerous tracks the typically is the one that gets the most eyeballs for its to marquee race days. That's right. The home of the oaks and Kentucky Derby last year reports. The courier journal Churchill Downs fatality rate was near the top of all the American tracks nearly three per thousand starts compared with one at Saratoga that high mortality rate took me back. The Ringling Brothers circus with its animal acts is gone and no more SeaWorld shows with killer whales greyhound racing's, all but dead. Don, invite legislation is the racing balloon about to meet its nail. We're not supposed to cheer in the press box. So let's say my fingers crossed that those two race days. Go off without a hitch fatalities are always bad. But if they happen, then the sport may well be thrown into it dick, you can get us on our YouTube channel by searching in the gate podcast. "And you have to have the right kind of owners and the right kind of different things too. So you can so how many horses do you have altogether? Roughly just forty something for those who don't know Danny Goggin spent six years as an assistant to two-time Kentucky Derby winning trainer Nick Zito. What was it like to work for him? Well, you know, the, you know, he's bigger than life characters carries his heart on his sleeve, nixed fun to be around. He's he's an emotional person. It's it's a lot of fun. You learn a lot from a guy like that too. Because I'm gonna these of races in you've been around these kind of horses. I gotta give Nick a lot of credit to the horsemen. I ended today, and he's and we're actually talking to him this morning king with heat excited about me having ocean the derby. It's an exciting time and we're gonna run a Philly on oak. Stay in the in a grade one also an order, Philly the mind miss grace. It's gonna be a good weekend for us. Don't tell me Nick major Yankees fan. I do have a Yankees hat. I think you have to learn from Jimmy Ricky. Oh, let's go Mets. I like me. Yeah. And then I trained for flying p and there he's the gangqi fan. Nick did take me to Janki same when I was a kid. And that's I haven't been to too many baseball games. I've been to several Cincinnati Reds games. Just because I'm from Kentucky. But yeah, Nick took me to see the Yankees. When I was a kid. He was training for Steinbrenner, whichever the fun thing. We got sit behind the dugout, and that was pretty pretty cool. So you must have worked with some of his big horses back in the nineties like storm song. Yes storm song LUKA tourism Ronald song star standard love that jazz diligence at worked with a lot of good ones. Nick had a really powerful stable, and it was pretty impressive for a while. Now, though you've obviously been around several of Nick's best horses. If you win the derby that'll be your first grade one win ever as a trainer, how prepared a you for the pressure cooker of not just a grade one race, but the most famous race in the country and all the media attention brand, why don't get nervous. So it's a little better for me than, you know, set amount of people sit and think about things all the time. I'm more, you know, I'm not going to change you. I am. I, you know, just a kid to grow up in the south end Kentucky. And I'm not going to change that I'm not nervous at all. And like I said, I think going in the wood was a little more nerve wracking for me than it will be the derby because of the point system you have to get the points to get in. So you know, we have the points were in. So it's just going to be I think I'll enjoy it. And I went and I took a Philly won't agree to their last year on Breeders Cup day. The first one which I've ran a church announced as a trainer and had joined that day. So I don't I don't expect to be too worried. I slept three hours. Would they I took a three hour that I don't even know if I could do that on a regular day. Day. Yeah. Took unless three iron that. And then went to the races. I have a tremendous assistant trainer and gals the horses. He doesn't fabulous job, and you know song as he gets over there. And he's healthy he'll run big. But I'm not nervous about it. At all you started to allude earlier to the way the race will be run. And how you want him to break and everything I mean, the most successful trainer in the entire world. Aidan O'Brien of Ireland experienced the derby for the first time last year with Mendelssohn he finished last and O'Brien used adjectives like fierce savage and ruthless to describe how the derby is run. What can you do to prepare your horse for that kind of race? Well, it's a different kind of situation. Our horses are running in American he shipped over. It's a little different. I wish there little bit more used to the crowds and ever the way, you know, the way it is my orces accounting as more relaxed than some of the other people have the colts. That might be why I'm a little bit relaxed. I don't think we're going to have any problems walking over there every day. He's gonna walk over and smile. He's not going to get upset over nothing. He's gonna you know, he'll walk over like, you know, like, it's no big deal. He's cool guy. And he's not going to be upset, and you know, everybody can put a negative on anything if they want to you know, if he a wanted he probably wouldn't have had that attitude. It's all about how they run that day. But I'm thrilled to death to be running into there. So if I run good in it, it's even better. But it's a big accomplishment just to be in Irving. What would winning it mean to you? But I mean the world mean anybody horse race, and that's a risk. They wanna win. You know, everybody wants to declare a horse trainer or jockey anybody that grows up in horse racing. That's an race. They wanna win movies. Certainly wish you the best of luck with tax. And thank you so much for a few minutes. Danny guardian. Best of luck on the first Saturday of may. All right. Thanks so much. No person has ever walked on Mars. No man has ever gazed upon a car dash in woman and survived unscathed. And never before had there been a thoroughbred racing card conducted on mainland China on till now we'll talk with the trainer who won the very first race run there after the break. And now I fawn from Geico motorcycle if took fifteen minutes to click on the banner ad entitled, you won't believe what these child stars look like now be dissatisfied and kinda sad about how the child stars look. "I think. Well, might might very well of hit on it. And I think there's a couple of reasons that you know, he deserves every every follow up chance. But you know, but she read I think was a little shaken, by the way this unfolded. He didn't like the way he looked going to the going out on the tracks that he had gotten washy and and that had not been him previously. So, you know. You can give him a mulligan. But at certainly if we think back to horse, like Irish war cry in fact, in recent years, Irish war cry, you know, had a miscue in Florida and and then snap back. So he was actually. I can't go on and become a really good steak source at amount of fifteen per mile and eight, but if you're looking for Kentucky Derby, you know, a mile and a quarter and the trip you need to do and if nerve being unraveled at Gulfstream Park on holy day was an issue. That's another thing. You don't wanna see in your Cam heading towards the Kentucky Derby. So if the reason he ran poorly was one he rejected the trip to it was an emotional issue. Well, any going to get any easier? The first in a mile quarter with twenty horses with that crowd with the long pre rates, the pomp and circumstance that goes with it. I like him a lot he can come back and win the fountain of youth. He could come back and win would Morial. I would not be shocked by that. I just think for a Kentucky Derby prospect, those were to really tough things swallow, and I love the horse. I hadn't ranked number two coming in. I was all into him to the point that I thought this race setup for closer. I wrote in countdown to the crown. The closer to watching the race was Harvey ball Bangor. I picked him second in the race. I played exact as Maximus chip with Harvey wall banger. I didn't play Harvey wall been I thought Maximus chip was that much better than them. And I thought the heavy jockey, you know, with those two what was the way to attack the race? Turns out it did meltdown pace does make the reysen in almost all accounts. Harvey wall took excellent advantage of being the only closer race that looked like it could fall apart a little bit. I didn't expect Maximus Maximus mischief to give it back. Some thoughts east coast, west coast, New York, California. Tactile horse. I don't think he's a world beater, but I think he's a pretty decent horse to come home the final three furlongs in the weather's thirty eight and free. That's not that bad because they weren't the first six one eleven to. So it's not like they went one thirteen one fourteen and walked home. I mean, they would faster the last three of the withers than they did the Swail at seven furlongs. Now that tells you the Swail was really slow late with the winter too bad late. So a good effort from tax and they're getting beat anything. It's gonna get way offer we know when the Gotham in the Wood Memorial roll around, but he's a nice horse for Danny Goggin outlet mutual Gustavo. I mean, hey qui-. It looked like he probably be loan speeding there. But magnificent McCall really wanted under Flavian Pratt. They went gunning out there. It was nice to see him just off pounce and go on. But as John White just mentioned improbable really handled Muccio Guzzo kinda held him at bay, you know, an arm's length in.

"Saturday, the race phone on Saturday to Sean Sam Davis and restored. My exactly sure where where what we're covering but couple of Tommy tomorrow. Yeah. I the the funny thing was the withers. Is it got it was a fast race? Now. I think it's been very difficult for any speed figure maker this winter, especially that. Because it does seem like I don't know if the track is a lot. I don't know. I don't know. Exactly. But I know there are a lot of numbers that are coming up fast and they're legitimately fast pace in the times. And sometimes they're a little bit tough to take. Now. I don't think the ninety six this raises hugely vote based on just tax if tax it won this race by three or four lines. I would say, yes, probably believable. But when you have three or scoff the track, and it gets pretty strong number offense considered, and you know, the third horse where that race come from. And the second worse. Not that Brady, he ran huge. He clearly best in their if you've broken sharply. I thought right. We gave them a very good ride there. Under difficult circumstances. He ran for him to have run that. Well, first time round turns or the circumstances. It's a little bit tough to take. So you do wanna see this come back. I do think that they're they're okay, those horses, and listen, I don't know where things stand but taxes a player you're in very well in the Remington now somebody wants to knock the rim sin because Maximus mischief didn't run well in Florida. Well, that's ridiculous because we've already seen. I think the fifth place finisher comeback with a big win. We saw the fourth place in your Mark Canucks worse comeback with a nice win Florida threat his figure, so I don't you know, we've seen tax to this. I think that that racist proven itself. The unusually strong this year. We haven't obviously seen the second place finisher comeback. I think max was miss form. And seeing he got hot down there. And I think Maximus mischief in the Holy Bull. He was faced with a circumstance you'd never faced before he was forced to chase a fast paced his only to really real challenge to turn race was the Rams. Listen where he had the run of the race right sitting on top of a very moderate pace, which tax had the benefit of as well, but Maximus mischief it really played into his hands. Whereas this was a very different circumstance you had to wait for chase a quick pace. And he didn't respond to really well. He also made just gotten hot not particularly comfortable down there. He's run well enough that I think it's fair to give it another chance. But I also think there's a reasonable question as chink in his armor, and he doesn't exactly though pedigree at screaming, you know, long distance. So maybe that kind of caught up to them at some point. How did but he didn't run well in this race whether it was external events or not, I don't know. But I do not attacks. Ran reason. We will you know, stumble was insignificant. He got good position got a very good ride from junior there after I I wanna see what these going further, and I think from a prep standpoint you saw three horses that put themselves as potential contenders. That's all you can specked from preps, especially three months out. These are worse. That may or may not be a player as we get closer to the derby. I wouldn't rule any of them out. I'm not saying I'm hugely excited about any of them though. I do think tax potential. Talk to talk to Danny Goggin yesterday. And Danny Danny deserves a tremendous amount of credit. He picked the horse forget about job. I mean, the fact that he saw this saw doors to claim, and I know you talked to Maggie sort of said he was probably thinking more turf going forward was on the turf if ever, but certainly anytime in the relatively near or even distant future. This is always right now, potentially a real player, derby trail, and that's exciting and dangerous. Great job with divine. Mus was great last year and another chance this level. And this is usually kind of racist to catch a lot of attention. And the ownership team that came together the people that got involved in this really fun people that Iran deal. Yes. Yeah. Both good guys and both guys to supports the game..

"Yep. So yeah, I mean, looking at all these preps cumulatively, I don't feel like we learned a whole lot about the three year old picture. I mean, obviously, you know, Maximus mischief was a little bit exposed in this race. And he's got a rebound. But I mean, I don't think I learned a whole lot knew about horses like tax acoustic moving forward. So there's more to see moving on the derby trail in the coming months, but taking a look at the three year old Phillies that were in action this past weekend. There weren't any preps. Kind of the magnitude of a holy bowl Robert b Lewis. But there were some interesting races going on around the country. And I think the horse that most people were looking forward to coming back with feedback in the forward gal and she got the job done. But she wasn't quite as visually. Impressive as she wasn't her. Saratoga maiden win. No. That was a very big win at Saratoga got a one six speed figure that day an end to kinda is soup. She had an issue or two or you know, didn't come back into the forward gal. So I race in quite a while since August. And you know, it wasn't visually. Oppressive and she got a ninety eight speed figures, so even regressed a little bit. But you know, she did win. I like the knocker a whole and say, I you know, she didn't win like a two to five. But you know, I I don't know that she should have really been two to five in this field coming off that layoff. But she did get the job done. She showed some grit through the lane. Look like, she, you know, she might have a tough time hanging on, but she dug in I'm not sure this horse really wanna go a whole lot longer watching a run. But if anybody can get her to do it, it'd be Chad Brown, so I will anxiously be waiting to see her run next. Yes. She kind of has the misfortune of being dubbed one of the most impressive Saratoga made him winners. Because it feels like those were always carry that around with him for further next. You starts with just routinely over bet because it is hard to Saratoga. She was very impressive that day. Yeah. I didn't feel like this was any kind of major step backwards for her. I think she just kind of came back, and you know, ran the way you'd expect a horse like heard run off a layoff. Chad Brown is pretty. National flops maybe some people expected her to do better than that. But you know, the finish second in the race. She had previously run a reasonable speed figure. So it's it's not like, you know, feedback was beating nobody in this race. I do agree with you about the distance, limitations. I'm not really convinced that she's a true Kentucky oaks horse just looking at her female family. I think she's a half sister to law abiding citizen who was more of a sprinting type believe out in California, and even in the second generation of family, it's really sprint oriented pedigree. She is by violence who had a couple of impressive winters this weekend. But I don't get the sense that you really wants to go a lot farther than this. But I won't be surprised if she runs better start wherever that is bright. I think there's a one turn mile run at Gulfstream for the three year old Phillies at maybe that's worship be pointed. Or, you know, hard to say, maybe she'll be back in New York. But I'm with you. I'm not one for breeding. I let other people like you do that work for me. And I've read with a have to say on it, but just watch on her visually. That's the impression. I got. This didn't look like a horse. I wanted to go much further and and to be as far as the the rest of the field goes, it's probably not an oaks prep for any of these. I mean other possibly feedback which is they're all sprinters and they're not particularly overwhelming group. So we call it in oaks prep cause it awards points. But it's probably that name only the I'm totally with you on that one moving onto aquit courses that dig it asks the stamina question in the Sanga because they did go the distance with mile and an eighth, you know, this was. Not one of the strongest fields that we've seen because we did have a horse break her maiden in this race in Todd Pletcher, always shopping and also as I previously mentioned when we're talking about the weather's card on Saturday, and how that translated Sunday up. There was an intense strong rail bias on Sunday at act, and it just seemed even stronger throughout the day by the time. This race was run horses that bra on the rail for a significant portion of the racist on Saturday seemed to have a significant advantage. Always shopping. I think we do have to note she was off the railing about the to Pat on the back stretch. But she did ride the rail from her number one post Bishen for the majority of the race and kind of angled out around Philly Joel the top of the stretch and she had no problem with the distance got the job done. I don't know what the quality of field was. But she's moving forward for Pletcher. Yes. She is. She got a one oh to speed figure runner up Philly. Joe who assume will have a fouling just based on the name got got a point higher due to. To a slightly quick pace too. So people I don't put a whole lot of stock in one point here there, they they basically got the same number. But as you mentioned the rail was definitely the place to be we do have this day code pink. And the time form you s PP's as speed favoring. But just so there are some misconceptions out there. What we're telling people when we co detracts and pink and red just as it speed horses did a lot better than would be expected in the case of read a whole lot better. But you know, we're not really for claiming. There was a bias. We want to go look at the races and see which think, but we're telling you, there's probably reason the check it out. And in this case, it was probably more rail than speed. I think it definitely was more real than speed. But you know, obviously, the speed horses are going to have the rail large portion of the time led you made that distinction because I think people do get confused between those two to allot often a speed bias. It can be attributed to strong rail. Because just that's the way races are run horses that have speed generally gravitate towards the rail and take the early lead like Philly jolted in this race, you know, one of the races that really proves that theory about the rail bias was I think earlier in the day wicked macho won a race for Gary Siaka gigantic speed figure of his prior races. That's pretty hard to justify unless you believe that the rail was really the place to be. And I think when you see performances like that that kind of solidifies any opinions about a pious. And there was a similar one was a Saturday was the last race one. That was like that as the final crazy. Do that's the race. That may be kind of maybe the track was changing for the withers. Right. Yeah. That I remember that was one that jumped ahead a similar high figure, and I was you know, had a hard time with that one. But you know, sometimes Rome what they run in the F to consider the track that they did it over. Yeah. One horse, and I do wanna mention out of the Buganda that I just kind of have a soft spot for like during the race. And I I was. Waiting for her. And she just got completely. You know, just you know, shed, no chance with the trip is a mismatch Orland who's another Danny Goggin horse. She was making her third start in this race coming off a maiden win. A she broke from the far outside postition outside of Philly. Joel got hung out about five wide into the clubhouse. Turn was never knew the rail at any point was about three wide around the track. That's just not the kind of trip you can ever get when you have a real bias day. She actually ran fine to finish fourth all things considered. She's getting a lot better next start. I don't know that she's really the quality of any of the top three Phillies out there. But look for her next time out because she just got the wrong trip. Yeah. She's one I immediately put my stable mail. I'd read to write up on her, and you know, suze broke and given the track I knew she was in trouble. But yes, she ran. Well, I mean, that's a tough trip on any track. Let alone a rail bias track. So she's one that went in the stable male. Of course, gotta see where she shows up, but pretty much she's going to be higher odds wherever she shows up. Her odds are going to be higher than or chances. I would imagine. So she's one worth following that set for the Basan though. It's a look at the Martha Washington at Oaklawn will which I have to say is probably one of the slowest speed figures will ever give out for a racer this quality the winner power gal only got an eighty one which it was kind of head scratching in just to be safe. I actually went and time this reach from video because of the first quarter looks over Diculeng slow for Oaklawn. But it all checked out legit. And I wasn't surprised because Oaklawn is attracted. I can't ever remember having timing issues. And I it was just a matter of the piece was so slow that a decent figure was virtually impossible to run the half mile peace figure was actually in the fifties for us, which you know, if you put that on a buyer scale, we're usually about twenty points or so higher. So it's a thirty in a so basically I'd like to make the equivalent of you know, if you same bolt run out one hundred meter. Racin walk the first thirty thirty meters. He's not going to run a good time. So, you know, as a figure making guy, I'm going to take, you know, look at that eighty eighty one eighties second and third place horses ram with a grain of salt. And I'm just gonna put a line through this race when these horses come back and kind of base their you know, how I view them on their prior races. I think this one's a total throw out. Yeah. I'm glad you made that point I like your 'lustration with using both because I think a lot of people sometimes feel that maybe we penalize too much for for slow paced races. But the problem with those races, especially on the dirt. Is it just brings everybody else into the race and creates like no gaps between horses at the wire. Because even the slower horses were able to keep up in the early going. There's only only so much distance. You can put between the horses on the slow horses at the wire. So I mean, it might seem like we're giving power gal to low speed figure. But you can't elevate too much because you can't make a long shots. Also be getting speakers that are way too high when they didn't act. Earn them. So I totally agree with you that this is the right figure it just you know, what's the utility of it moving forward. I don't know. I don't think you know, we've got to see more of these horses. I will say about the winter power galaxy. I'm a little familiar with her given that she read aquit O'Connor prior couple of starts. It was nice to year improve stretching out in distance. Because obviously, that's what she's bread the deal, which she's got that that Japanese desert designation on her work. She was bred because she's by empire maker was actually bred in Japan. Even though it's totally American pedigree her Dan was important Japan. Her dams by high yield, and she

"Far as my overall thoughts up in New York state. A look at the withers a mile in innate that's always going to be an intriguing piece to those races in New York or some of them. Anyway, the next race sort of in their chronological sequence leading into the woods at one turn mile will get to that a bit field of seven not a big field signed on post time favorite was tax going up for Danny Goggin. He ran a very credible race in behind Maximus mischief and the Rams in question was now how would he be able to handle a legislative fresh faces and potentially some new up and comers outside of that. Yet. Some interesting spot, you could have gone, the Pletcher horse Moretti terrible disappoint. We'll talk about him more momentarily. He was the second choice here. He didn't figure ultimately that you've got a heck of a horse race three horses. Basically across the wire. Here's the stretch run of the weather's the stretch in. It is not that Brady of the turn in front our brain trust bearing down taxes and tight toward the inside. Trying to squeeze on throw here. Coming to the final sixteenth our brain trust. Not that Brady and text on the inside the three of them across the track techs on the inside our brain trust not that Brady fights on. But those two these three coming down to the blind, and the weather's tax. Does it tax cut tax prevails is the two one favourite gets the job done over not that Brady finishes? Second eight to one in our brain trust one of two in here for marquess rungs third at odds of seven to to talk about tax a little bit. He's two four lifetime. Never been out of the money. For lifetime starts over one hundred eighty six thousand career earnings owned by our a hill stable reefs, the red racing Lynch, Hugh and corns racing. Stable train by Danny Goggin bred by Claiborne farm, and Adele, b dill Schneider in Kentucky ridden to victory by junior Alvarado pedigree at the bottom of the horse Cardi is by arch out of giant's causeway mayor named toll speed vigor wise, this one this one pass the smell test tat tax gets ninety six buyer and one eighteen time form US rating. Not that. Radiant ninety five Biron one nineteen time formula's rating and are Winston ninety five buyer. Excuse me, our brain trusts or Winston room fourth our brain trust ninety five Byron and one eighteen time formulas freighting visually. It's one of those tough things whatever there's three horses across the track at the wire makes you think about the quality a little bit, and we won't really know until these horses. Come back keeping mind the top two finishes at one time. We're both fifty thousand dollar claim IRS. So there's there's at least reason to before you go totally fall in love with any of these horses. There's at least reason to to kind of pull back, and wait and see what happens in their next start wherever they should go. But I like the tax showed a little bit a little bit of gusto little bit of the fact that he squeezed through down on the inside. It's not an easy situation for a horse at this time in the year, and this time of their career still very lightly raced when on with very very gamely didn't quite finish. And I mean, we're talking we're splitting it by. You know, really really small margins here. The slowest of the. Top four as far as the final eighth of a mile is concerned. So that's something to just keep in the back of your mind going forward, Dan Goggin regarding tax. He said he ran such a big number. There's a big chance I just wait for the Wood Memorial. He ran good off the nine weeks. He likes to track. Obviously, again, this is a situation where I don't blame the connections, very similar to what we saw down in south Florida with Harvey wall banger at this point. You've got you've got a decent amount of points in your back pocket. Sit on it. You know, the mile an innate isn't an issue. No, the track's not an issue and the good news here the difference between a horse tax and Harvey wall banger taxes one fast for his generation at this point run eleven points faster than than than Harvey wall banger has at this point. So there's real reason to believe, you know, what tax sit on them keep them happy, keep them sound and getting ready to go for the Wood Memorial. And I think he has to be viewed as a player there. We'll see what happens leading up to that point. But right now. Yeah, you've gotta look at this as an interesting horse. And I know there's that cliche in look, it's a cliche, but at the same time, there's there's truth. To it did the New York path in recent memory, New York and Kentucky leading to the Kentucky Derby has not been productive. Neither of them have whether you're going through Keeneland or whether you're going through academic. They just have not been very productive races. As far as the is concerned having said that. For the longest time. I can't remember it was before I'll have another one southern California had a big big gap. Big dry spell. Everybody wants Florida ruin through New York, all sorts of different things things come to an end. It's all cyclical for one reason or another all it takes one. Perhaps that's the year of this year for New York. We'll find out tax a good effort. I really liked the effort from not that Brady. I am not taking anything away from tax. I think not that Brady and the best race. He was incredibly wide going into that. I turn he's about six paths off the rail. And I thought really good is did the right thing by using this horse going up clearing off to the front. Put about a length and a half on the field. The source that legitimate fractions, not fast, but not slow twenty three to forty seven and won eleven two for three quarters. They stopped the clock and fifty and one I thought this is a big effort from not that Brady drifted out a little bit under lefthanded urging when he first felt the stick drifted into our brain trust. There was a trainers objection from our cash. Ultimately, nothing happened there. But not that Brady continued on he stayed on. And look at the end of the day. Maybe he is going to want slightly shorter. But I think based on this effort, I wouldn't be opposed seeing him in the woman Morial Rudy was quoted after the race Rudy Rodriguez. His trainer talking about not that Brady. We're going to try to run him here in New York. He looked like he ran a very good mile race. He's training over here. I was impressed. The way he fought back. Everything was positive from him. And hopefully he would keep improving when he brought up that mile race having seen him run at a flat mile in the past. He may run in the one turn Gotham March the ninth which again, if you're a horse not that Brady of the connections, the Gotham still gives out derby points. And if you do think that a mile is a little bit better for him at this point run him there. He's going to be one of the favorites. Get some more points go onto the wood. Or you know, what you have other options at that point. If you wanna go to Kentucky, go to Oaklawn you wanna you know, you've got options. You don't have to really just be died in the wool say, we're going to stay in New York. But he gets over the. Track. Very well. He's training there. I like not that Brady. I think he's a neat little horse our brain trust, and Sir Winston they both were incredible racists or Winston, I think needs to improve a little bit. But from a number standpoint the buyer in the one eleven time form rating that he earned those are both very very solid, and they make you think that based on what Cassie was saying this chance that he's going to be pointed Sir Winston to the Tampa Bay derby March the ninth based on that eighty buyer probably fits in there. Pretty well. And Cassie has had success in that race in the past just go. What was it? Well, flame away ran a decent race last year. I believe I could be wrong. I know he won the salmon Davis. But at the end of the day, my point is Marquette, he knows thing. Too about training. Good horse, sir. Winston could go there our brain trust could stay here or he could be pointed to the rebel out at Oakland on March sixteenth. So we'll find out there are a number of spots for these horses to go. The only other one to touch on I suppose we can touch on lucky Li but he really got the acid test. Didn't pass it. Same goes from Moretti Moretti was just a dumpster fire in this race, very disappointing. I like this horse. I still think there's ability here, but I should have known better. It's usually an absolute terrible terrible sign. When pleasure puts blinkers on before a stakes race graded stakes race. And I get it. You do it because he is green. And he needs to sharpened up the numbers. Just the numbers suggest. It's not a good move on. I should have known better. That's on me for that one. But Moretti was terrible in here. Hopefully, blinkers come back off just let them mature a little bit. Maybe he's not a derby horse. Maybe he's a Belmont horse. I think you do maybe he's just a long term prospect. Maybe Travers type, I do think. There's still something here though. I also though at the same time can't help. But see some similarities between him and vino Rosso who we saw last year. And ultimately just never really seemed to put it together. We'll find out it's far too early writing Moretti off. But this was a terrible performance in the grand scheme of things. Very good performance in my opinion, from the top three finishers most notably the top to tax and not that Brady tax gets the job done. If I had again, I'm we're talking about splitting hairs between the two. I would slightly lean not that Brady. But again from a distance standpoint, perhaps taxes a little bit better at it. Who knows it's still very early. They both are in very well as did our brain trust tax. The winner of this year's withers ninety six buyer one eighteen time form US rating and now southern California, a sloppy southern California. At Santa Anita the rains came. We had an unfortunate scratch Nola contest. Oh, who would have been an interesting candidate in a spot like this? I left us to the field of five for the robber be Lewis at stake. Look at that field mile and a sixteenth question was Muccio Gustavo. Could he sit if needed which didn't look like he was going to need to because I'm paper he was loan speed distance would that necessarily be ideal for him wet track given his pedigree, relative lack of impressive pieces for an off track. Would any of that beat who is undoing know at the end of the day. Put your faith. Bob Baffert with the three year old smartest thing you can do. Here's the stretch run of the Lewis at the top of the stretch Mu-chou Gustavo gun metal grey on the far outside easy shot in striking range magnificent McCullough around there in the final furlong and Mu-chou goes Donau pores on opens up three easy. Shotgun medal. Great will battle for second. Mu-chou Gustavo impressive in victory cruises home by Gustavo gets job done. At odds of three to five is the favor over gun. Metal grey the second choice. He gets in there at odds of eight to five and then you're third place. Finisher is easy shot. Who runs out the try it? Odds of twelve to one. Let's take a look at the winner a little bit more Muccio Gustavo. This is a two time stakes winner at this point in his career. He is now three of four lifetime all four in. The exact is only loss was to improbable in the Los Alamos for charities two hundred thirty four thousand dollars on the nose in career earnings owned by Michael Peterson trained by Bob Baffert bread by tomorrow farm, Inc.
