"Angle of all this. Because i think that's really interesting. They have now opened up up to thirty six million dollars cap space presumably according to reporting from mark stein and others for kyle lowry and maybe twenty five. If you include josh heart. And i think they should try to resign josh heart and i think twenty five for lower fair and might get it done. They traded two first round picks to get off this money and for rebuilding team sub optimal to do that however they have a whole crap ton of pick still coming from the lakers in the bucks they put protections on this lakers pick just in case and those are non trivial protections. We saw almost just in case scenario happen to the lakers. Last year where they ended up falling much lower in the standings then people thought and obviously they're trying to be next year's sons slash hawks where we have a transcendent young talent. We have another very good young talent. We need an organizer like chris paul or we need like we need the art chris. Paul sledge book dumbo donovan. Danilo gallinari clin cappella veteran editions. Valid shoes can be our cappella to me. This is interesting for a couple of reasons number one. Those sons hawks precedents are it's apples. It's apples to oranges to some degree. Because the sun's we saw the bubble and we could tell they were onto something. New orleans has no proof of concept yet with this team doing anything serious other than losing a whole bunch of close games in the last two minutes. Unlike the hawks they don't they have they have the transcendent young. They have their trae young. Which is i on. The hawks who i guess don't have a good player. Another good young player quite as good as ingram. But the hawks were just loaded with all of these young support guys in hunter reddish herder blah blah blah. Who were ready to take step up. I'm not sure the alexander walker. Kyra lewis group is quite at that level and the other thing is like two sons. Became a great defensive team. The pelicans have been in abysmally bad defensive team and i'm not sure what their roadmap to being an okay defensive team is so. I'm a little less optimistic that they can be next year's sons and hawks but if zion is that good i don't necessarily blame them for using one of their last remaining big cap space ships to to try gooney. What do you think of what of what they're up to here. Do you think they're overshooting. This is this like anthony. Davis point over there just rushing to fast to appease young superstar. And they're going to end up regretting it or or. Do you think this can work. I just don't think they have any choice. I mean you go through three coaches in ten months. At some point it people are going to start looking in front office and saying you know what's going on here. So there is no margin for error. Here they need to make the playoffs and be competitive in that playoff series and try to win a series if they if before this thing potentially blows up is i on williamson going to management and saying i want out of here. You know you guys. I'm not going to waste my career here with you know toiling in mediocrity so i agree with you that ideally you would like to have a slower rebuild and i would always think about bringing lonzo ball back know. I don't understand how guys twenty three years old he's younger than christie arte. Who's about to go in the lottery. He's going to be really really good for somebody next year. If i'm the pacers or you know the the hornets like i'm doing anything. I can get lonzo ball on my team next year so i just don't think that they that they have a choice of this. Just you know something that they that they have to do. These guys want to keep their jobs and keep zion town. They could definitely make a leap next season. If they gotta lowery type in as play guard they just need to figure out some kind of defensive identity and i think the offensive identity is also a little bit less clear that it will get trae young offense onto himself identities trae clink cappella boom done and we didn't even mentioned john collins who there is some optimism. Now that atlanta's going to be able to resign him. We'll see what happens after. I keep saying july first when it usually is whenever the day is and chris. Paul and devon booker. You know what the offense is. More or less going to look like in phoenix. I new orleans we went from. Oh why aren't they using zion as a ball handler to. Oh my god points. Ion is mashing people all over the floor. Okay but what's brandon. Ingram really doing while. Zion is doing stuff is he that useful. Okay now. here comes. Kyle lowry like they have some. There's a ton of talent the roadmap on both ends of the floor just isn't isn't quite as clear to me and give me like i i am. I think lonzo is one of the most interesting players in the nba. He i think we have no choice now but to believe that the three point shooting israel thirty seven point five percent two seasons ago and remember that includes the bubble where he just missed everything. And maybe you just throw that out because it was weird there was a long lay-off thirty eight percent last year on eight attempts game. His his off the dribble threes are awful. His spot up threes are great. And i've had. I've actually been surprised by the number of teams who i didn't think i mean we all know bulls-knicks all the teams that need point guards and catherine i've been surprised by the number of teams that have. Let's say lead ball handlers already. Who are wings or or bigger guards who have asked me how lonzo would fit with their team. Because they're just intrigued by the kind of the verve. He would bring to their offense like he's fun to play with. He makes the extra pass. And i've heard that he in zion are pretty tight like i'm. I'm surprised that new orleans appears ready to move on. And maybe they're not even ready to move on. Maybe lonzo is just like if kyle lowry just using this as a stalking horse. Well that's our plan would spring back. Lonzo bring back josh heart and let it roll. I i don't know schmitz what do you. What do you think of what they're up to. Well i think it's interesting looking at the player. Lonzo is now like in the pre-draft process during his draft. There are a lot of people who were questioning. Like is lonzo a point guard. You know it kinda sounded crazy at the time just because he was such a good passer and you so electric in transition and all that but looking at it now like i think they're right. You know what. I mean like he. He's like three indy utility guard. Who moves the ball can shoot and has great defensive instincts right and so you can. That's why those teams you mentioned with those. Big playmakers are intrigued by him. Because like he doesn't need to pound it fifty times. You know to have an impact. And i think that's why he's gonna look really good on like winning teams. I agree with both you. I think he's incredibly underrated Just because of the basketball q. The ball moving style. And i think the three point shooting is gonna stabilize. I mean i remember watching him at chino hills. He would pull from from forty and like knock down knockdown knockdown funky mechanics. But he's always been able to make deep threes. It's just like the consistency of it. So i i would love to have him on my team. I think he's actually a good fit with zion and then you know they're not going to turn things around with the seventeenth pick but they can still get a good player there You know you talk about like the defensive identity. I mean manga. Rubas maybe the best defender in the draft. You know He's coming out of row. Madrid obviously same club has luca completely different player. But you know. I watched him against team. Usa and he was guarding kevin durant. He was guarding jason tatum. He was guarding. jeremy grant. You know..

"Where they just they came out. Uh, very aggressive. Yeah, well, They did come out aggressive. Your loss is going to be a different story. When you get down to Atlanta, and this is what happens. With your role players. Sometimes they're going to be hot. Sometimes those role players are Not It's really that simple. This time, Bogdanovich was hot 28 points. John Collins. Not so hot. He had 19 points, but he did it on 17 7 of 16 shooting. Lou Williams had 17 points. Clint Capela got popped in the face. He had six points. Danilo Gallinari had 19 not enough firepower. It's unfortunate for the Hawks, and that's the name of the game. They just got to deal with the injuries just like every one else. Camera dish, coming back from an injury recently only had seven. DeAndre Hunter. He has been out for several weeks now here in the playoffs for the Hawks. In the game tomorrow night in Atlanta. Should be a good one. Because if there's one thing that we have learned here about the Atlanta Hawks says the Hawks are not going to quit. They're not going to give up. This isn't the the sleepy team from a few years ago. This isn't the they're still young, but this isn't the young and experienced. We expect to lose team. Atlanta Hawks. They got some swagger behind him. They have some confidence. I don't think this is going to be a cakewalk. I mean damn it prior to the injuries to Yannis instead of Campo and prior to the other injury, obviously to Trae Young. I expected this game to potentially go six or seven games. And it's unfortunate just like every other series that we've had to talk about injuries rather than the play on the court. And this is simple. The Bucks can close this out. The box can go to an NBA finals to take on the Phoenix Suns, something that they have not done, sniffed or smelled since the seventies. Okay, I need to go back and just Throw Kareem Abdul Jabbar back onto the court for the box. This has been a long time. And you expected them to compete. You expected them to compete for several years. And they should compete. You got a damn two time NBA MVP on your squad. Unfortunately, honest has been out with a hyper extended knee. We don't know when we will see him. But this is no cakewalk. For the Milwaukee Bucks. Let's also be real here throughout the entire playoffs, the Milwaukee Bucks they have been up They have been down. They looked like they would be competitive. Sometimes they look like world beaters, and sometimes they just look look like they are ready to get beat by the world. It took them seven games to dispatch the banged up Brooklyn nets. They went through the Miami heat, and let's also keep in mind. The Miami Heat were the last team running last year, in addition to the Los Angeles Lakers, competing in the NBA Finals, dating back to October. Bucks can't afford to many more embarrassments. The Bucks with or without Janice at our company. They are expected to move on. They are expected to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals and the Hawks they still got life. The Hawks still have a chance. This isn't something that's just kind of set in stone. That this series is done between the box and the horse. And I know Hawk fans. They will tell you that straight to your face. This is not done. This is a seven game series. And you know what? I would not be surprised tomorrow if the Hawks did come out with a fight. Wouldn't be surprised even tomorrow. If Trey Young for whatever reason doesn't suit up, And I believe he will. How effective he is, is debatable. But I expect the Hawks to fight Expect them to claw. They might not win. But this series is not over. I still believe the Hawks can win. Call me crazy. I think the Hawks have life. This is not done. The Bucks have been too inconsistent throughout the entire playoffs. Okay? Um Brook Lopez had 33 points. Is he going to have 33 in Atlanta tomorrow? Okay, We can look at Chris Middleton. Is he going to come out with another 26 or 28 points is drew holiday going to have 25. Somebody's going to shoot a blank in Atlanta. I think the Hawks will be hyped. It doesn't matter if it's Bogdanovich Gallinari. Lou Williams, John Collins. I believe someone is going to step up. Expect them to force a game seven. Do? I did? I believe that the box would win this series. Yeah, and I still think that they will. But the series is not over. The Atlanta Hawks are still alive. And please believe If Trey young slips on a jersey and a warm up yes or tomorrow. And if he goes out onto the court And even if he's just there I think that's gonna like that arena up. I think state farm arena will be jumping and bumping. And don't let Trae Young hit a three on a bum foot. That place will come alive. And so the Milwaukee Bucks might be one went away from the NBA Finals, but the job is not done. I'm not prepared to say that the Milwaukee Bucks are going to the NBA Finals because the job ain't done. There is no Yannis and all of these superstars and stars around Yannis Chris Middleton. How crazy is that to say? All Star? He ain't him. He might come out and dropped 15 and have a terrible game. He might be begging for Brook Lopez to pick things up. The series isn't over. The Bucks have not won. It's not set in stone in the hearts, they still have life. The phone lines are open to you right now. 855 to 1 to four CBS That's 855 to 1 to four, CBS. Hawks are hanging on by a threat one game away from elimination. We probably won't see honest. Maybe. Maybe not. We'll see Trae Young. We got another close out game tomorrow that will potentially determine who we see in the NBA Finals. Do you think the Atlanta Hawks are cooked?.
Hawks Erase 26-Point Deficit to Beat Sixers in Game 5
"Semi finals. This sixes and hawks pivotal Game five. Philadelphia is where we go here. They were high Steppin monster mashing. 26 point lead at home. 26 point lead at home. And then it vanished into thin air. It went away. Where did it go? Why didn't they win? They had all the momentum. I keep hearing momentum's all that they had a whole uncle Mo on their side. They had this big lead Uncle Mo in Brooklyn. They had the big lead, and they gave it all the way. Presto! Oh, Abracadabra, said Trae Young 39 points, but it was other guys. It was Mo Chicken Chicken Wing Williams there The honey Pepper Chicken wings. They're knocking down a bunch of big shots. Danilo Gallinari made some plays as well for the Atlanta Hawks. They stormed back all the way back from 26 point down and they beat the Sixers. They beat the Sixers. They took their lunch money 19216. And so it is Atlanta's NBA team, the Hawks who have a 3 to 2 in the Eastern Conference semis, They are now one win away from punching their ticket to the coverage files. And finally, things are lining up for Nate McMillan, the much maligned Nate McMillan. The coach in Atlanta. You look around. You know. Nate McMillan great regular season coach seems over achieved in the playoffs didn't work out well, finally met his equal in a doc Rivers here in the second round. He did beat the Knicks, but that was the next just happy to be in the playoffs. That kind of thing. But my goodness. One win away from punching their ticket. The Atlanta Hawks One man band with Trey Young and they are a win away and all those people that if if Atlanta finishes this, and it's still Points. You still see a scenario? They don't but it with Doc Rivers? Oh, my God. How do you not if you're Atlanta win this thing in in six games, but The Hawks comeback was historic. It's one of the top three comebacks in NBA postseason history.

"Guarded by Simmons. Now up high they go. Lou Williams gets it down low. Danilo Gallinari guarded by Curry. He's posted up on him yellow backing his way in double team Gets it out to loo loo fakes Now it's down to five. They go back to Gallo. Gallo turns shoots the right hander. It hits it, Danilo Gallinari knocks it down. It's 1714 Hawks lead by three Atlanta Those going to inbound and win this game. They're up three. The Hawks with a stunning comeback here in Philadelphia to win Game five, Atlanta one on nine the Sixers, 106 and the Sixers with without question Their toughest defeat of the season at home. Maybe the toughest defeat in a long, long time. Home or away. You heard that call from 97.5 the fanatic in Philadelphia before that, the Gallinari jumper that really help the Hawks take that three point lead and put away to 70 Sixers on 92 9 the game. According to ESPN stats, an info The 70 sixes are the only team good blow an 18 point lead and back to back playoff games in the last 25 seasons. They had a win Probability of 95.5% at one point in Game four. And reached 99.7% late in the third quarter of Game five. That is why my peace My brother, Billy Trace has not been able to speak a word based on what his 70 Sixers did to him. Yikes! Doc Rivers, six, his head coach, What say you thought it started the beginning of the second half, Even though we kept the lead? I think we had six turnovers in our 1st 10 possessions to start the third quarter. That's why I called the early time out. You can see we kind of exhale, Relax. The first unit were just good enough and Seth terrorism that stretch to keep the lead at 22 where it could have very easily been at 30. If we don't turn the ball over And then obviously you got to take guys out in. The second group really struggled tonight in the second half their phenomenal in the first half, and then in the second half, they struggled and then down the stretch. Listen, we scored 19 points. And gave up 40. So it's on us. It's on all of us is on me. It's on the players, and we have to figure out how to get back up which we will and bring his game back here for Game seven. He's confident that they will get back up. How Their minds will be in Atlanta. But their bodies will also be in Atlanta as well. Based on what we were able to see in Game four in Game five Don't mind this conference. Well, you're going to save your doc rivers. You've got to be confident. Got to say that. Hey, this will test us, But I believe our team is more than up to the challenge and more than up to the test. But I wonder how much he believes that. I wonder how much that is A hope, wish and pray situation than actually feeling that confident But yet the collapse fell on everybody. Bench players didn't play well, although I know if I'm Joel and being except current thinking, Whoa, We did our best. We didn't go four for 14 from the free throw line like that. Ben Simmons, dude. Speaking of that he did replace Ben Simmons in the fourth quarter. And Doc Rivers, the six head coach, talked about that You played minutes without being right during the game, and so I think we're equipped for that, and we're ready to do that. Obviously, we did it again tonight. Do you want to do? That is a better question and the answer to be no. But you know, when didn't make them we get to keep a man when he does, and we can, and that's just the way it is. Sometimes we still do If it's working our way in the first half. We kept them in because we were actually increasing the lead. We felt like they were getting in foul trouble. Fourth quarter You don't really worry about foul trouble. So then you have to make Yeah. Fourth quarter. You got to worry about free throws. You can't have your second best player. Go four for 14 from the free throw line, so It's one of those conundrums of your doc rivers. You know, you need him on the floor for his playmaking and his defense. But that liability shooting the basketball especially the free throw line. You got to think long and hard about that. If you're Doc rivers, you know you need him. But if he becomes less than what you need, you got away that if you're Doc Rivers in the Philadelphia 76 ers, a comeback and a collapse for the ages. In Philadelphia on the wrong side of that. See Michael Connelly hit me on Twitter. By the way he gave me on Twitter. Come on, ESPN. Don't forget the phone number as well. The triple H A ESPN 8887293776. See, Michael Connelly said. The Atlanta Falcons still have not recovered from their collapse in the Super Bowl. When you have something like this back to back games, it can tear you down mentally. Doc Rivers has a lot of confidence that won't happen to his basketball team. Ben Simmons, Being a man of few words kept it like that. This one hurts looking a lot, but at the same time we got a job to do in Atlanta. We gotta go do it so We gotta stay focused on lockdown. Go get that win, but we know we got to do. At one point in this game, Philadelphia lead at 72 to 46 with 8 31 to play in the third quarter. I got this touch with J Clinic. My producer. Atlanta in the Super Bowl, had a 22 3 lead on Philadelphia with 8 31 to play in the third quarter. They had a 25 point lead the Falcons back then. In Philadelphia had a 26 point lead with 8 31 to play in the third quarter tonight. I still don't believe that I saw that collapsed back to back. 18 point lead in the first half. It's the N B. I get it, but Philadelphia should be ashamed of yourselves. By 26 points. You would just knocking this team all around the gym all around the park, and then you look up and you can't make free throws. You can't make shots. You only scored 19 points in the fourth quarter. Latin Atlanta Hawks team to score 40 and that's what's going to be lost in this conversation. The Atlanta Hawks made place and Philadelphia did not make plays. But any time you have a collapse, it's always about what the other team did not do not with the team that made a comeback happen what they were able to do. Trading, said it best after the games that we didn't quit. We kept fighting. We kept getting after it. It's not our fault. It's not our problem that they didn't have the same mentality that they have when they went up by 26 points. But normally in any situation like this going back to that collapsed in the Super Bowl, it wasn't about what the Patriots did. It's about with the Atlanta Falcons didn't do should have run the ball more. Got to complete that pass got to cover Julian Edelman better. It was all about what the Atlanta Falcons didn't do..

"On ESPN Radio, the ESPN APP and Sirius XM Channel 80 getting a lot of great tweets and what we saw tonight involving the Hawks comeback against the Philadelphia 76 ers. Coleman, ESPN. I still can't believe this actually happened. Hawks need to get a good possession here, Trey, guarded by Simmons. Now up high they go. Lou Williams gets downloaded yellow Gallinari guarded by curry. He's posted up on him. Yellow backing his way in double team Gets it out to loo. Loo fakes Now it's 95 they go back to Gallo. Gallo turns shoots the right hander. It hits it, Danilo Gallinari knocks it down. It's 1714 Hawks lead by three. 92 9 the game in Atlanta with the call. Tweet has been unbelievable. This is when Twitter is good times with Twitter just thinks, but not tonight. Unless you're Philadelphia, 76 a fan that that means you're probably not on Twitter because that's enough aggravation for one night, Bill hit me on Twitter. Come on, ESPN. You believe trade youngest? This generation's Reggie Miller bigger the moment bigger, he shines. I'm not going. I never compared guys from different errors. The different ball players Reggie Miller's a shooting guard Trey Young as a shooting point guard. He controls the action and controls the pace. I'm never going to put those kind of comparisons when it comes to trade Young of the present and Reggie Miller of the past, But I will say this He has never been overwhelmed by the moment. We've seen that in college. When you played Oklahoma. We've seen it so far, especially in this playoff run. I mean, he has gone from having fans being profane and spinning on him in New York. And guess what happened. Nick's out in five He's had people saying, Man, the Philadelphia's got your number. Now. You almost lost Game one. You almost let that big lead get away. They beat you in Game two in Game three. It's been a nice run Trae young, but that's it. Down by 18 in Game four. We'll let them lose down by 26 in Game five would not let them move moments like that, and he has the motivation because many people said the hearts They're gonna rule today. They traded trade young for Luca Don t shirts. Luca, but that guy's a top 10 player where stray young Where's Luca Dodgers? Have a new general manager in Dallas. Has won a playoff series yet. Meanwhile, Trae Young, his first time in the playoffs, wins two games on the road against the New York Knicks and has done the same thing so far against the Philadelphia 76 ers. And he's one went away from getting to the conference finals against either the Brooklyn Nets or the Milwaukee Bucks. The moment, the more the moment has that shine. The more the spotlight is white hot trade, Young said, feels good. Nice and warm. I'm feeling great. Come get some Philadelphia thought they had him. Everybody thought they had him. And when it was all said, and done, they did not. Clint Capela had a chance to do a Joel and beat all night and a lot of times. It did not end well for him. Joel and beat at 39 points when it's all said and done. Clint Capela was the one standing up with a win and not a loss. Let's bring in the Atlanta Hawks Santa Clint Capela from the Atlanta Hawks joining me Freddie Coleman on Freddie and Furred Simmons. Clint, This is a tough game for you individually. It was a tough game for your team early on down by 26. But yet you win this game five by three U Outscored Philadelphia 46 to 19 in the last 14 minutes. How did you and your teammates stay positive when you were down by so many Just stay focused mentally, uh, you know that they would try to Sort of structure big enough ahead of the help of the crowd. Just get our composure and we stayed focus. It's a great word you use Clint composure. Also another great word and focus because Joel Embiid made this personal because he heard you said after Game four about that when he gets tired, the game changes, but you stayed and hung in there. Does that say about you and this team that they were not able to kick you down and keep you down. Yeah, exactly. I mean, I'm just I just I know that I mean the best way of good. Visually my job make the job tougher for him, But I know that it's going to take some shots do that He's going to turn around and going to get the ball. The whole game. Does his job just doing my job? Inside to make it hard. I guess like at the end of the game, uh, my job paid off, and especially with get up with the team making shots and replayed. Uh, we've got to win by saying Mark What did the locker room feel like? After the win that you had for the ages tonight, Clinton Mm hmm. Just you know, they always say, Well, we have to believe And after the Wednesday night, obviously, the the she was really, really, really happy cheering and just because we know you have to keep believing that there's been a little little season. Just keep believing that definitely scared After they win tonight Village he believes The very faithful Clint Capela Atlanta Hawks Santa joining me Freddie Coleman and Freddie Fitzsimmons on ESPN Radio. They were down 26 point tonight. Game five. They beat the Philadelphia 76 is 109 to 1. Oh, six in Game six. What is going to be like in Game six for you Claim? Because now you have this team on the brink of elimination. We know that that arena the state farm arena is gonna be unbelievable. What is that going to be like Friday night? You get a chance to Be one game away from the conference finals in the East. People from 40 to stay focused, Uh, just make sure that everybody little child, Uh, defensively revived just the job suffered. Uh, they keep our composure mentally even know that you got a big jump shot too close to I just trying to stay in again, and I think he's like she travels space resting on record. Just just like today expressed on the court and just my dear, make their job suffered. Big fella. I'm telling you what you got so many people in Atlanta, proud of where your team has been able to do up to this point, a comeback for the ages. You got the one game chance to get to the conference finals up 32 in this series. Hey, Clint. Congrats on the win way to stay in there hanging there. I know you're exhausted. Get some rest. And good luck in Game six. Thanks for joining me, ESPN radio. Thank you. Thank you Appreciate absolutely. And he sounds exhausted. But you know what An exhausted win is better than a not tired loss. Should have plenty of Philadelphia people right now Going. What in the name of Doctor J happen tonight?.

"Others may bothers me to no end and I don't think it's gonna stop. I think it's only going to continue to teach. Twisted and turned out of control because we're still six weeks away from the draft, and we're already getting the fifth best quarterback in this draft has comes to a mobile, Tom Brady. Also, by the way, Mack Jones is thrown to the two best er to the three best wide receiver to this draft alongside Jamaar Chase and was handing off to the best running back in this trap. So kind of helps kind of In the end before the Atlanta Hawks fire Lloyd Pierce and this is a tough one because the Hawks were bad again. And the Hawks were not supposed to be bad again. There were expectations that the Hawks would be improved this year. And when you look at the overall record of Lloyd Pierce, the man Lost twice a cement games as he won He was 63. And 1 2063 1 20 Year number one. He went 29 53 missing the playoffs. You're number two last year. They went 20 and 47. We're outside of the bubble. And this year they started off, Okay, but then fell on hard times their 14 and 20. So a man that is 60 games under 500. It's hard to defend not firing guy that 60 games under 500, I get it. But I also have to ask this question. Was this really a good enough Hawks team to expect much more than what we're getting right now. It's Trey Young, who chucks up a million shots a game. And What I mean, they signed rage on Rondo. Okay, Rondo is getting to the point of his career is toast. They signed Bogdan Bogdanovich. Okay? But has been in and out of injury. They've got Danilo Gallinari. Okay, But we know Gallanar at this point in his career is not great. They have young guys like Cam reddish. Okay? But again still unproven young commodity. Quick capella. Who's a serviceable center, but not a great center. We're asking that team to be that much better than 14 and 20. And we're demanding that much more out of Lloyd Pierce. Out of that roster. That's the roster that we demand more out of, or else you're gonna get fired again. In some ways, I get it. Hawks fans are sick and tired of losing. They've been irrelevant for a really long time. They've got Trey Young. You don't want to continue to just build a loser around Trey Young. Okay, I understand someone of the thinking, but I don't agree with coming into this season and thinking that this Hawks team was a slam dunk playoff team and that if they're not, it's on the coach. Don't believe that they got some veterans. That's the veterans around Trey Young. And in a bad Eastern conference again, you might compare them to some of the other squad to the east and say, Well, they probably should be better than say the bowls or being floating around where the Wizards are is they should be better than that. And if the Hornets could be right around 500, the Pacers could be right around 500. Look at the Knicks there above 500. We expect the same type of growth. All right. Maybe But again, Am I looking at Lloyd Pearson saying, Man, you're really underachieving because you've got trey young and rage on Rondo. Hi. Can't say that Trey Young Clint Capela Danilo Gallinari, and you're supposed to be that much better than this. I kind of felt yesterday more as that. It was an unfair sacrificial lamb by Lloyd Lloyd peers to take the zig when in reality, the Hawks weren't as good as some of the preseason excitement would have suggested. I think Lloyd Pierce's actually a victim of what's gone on in the Eastern Conference, and I think this is just Hawk ownership group of looking at this from a foreign seeing. Insert tip it on the Knicks here is the four seed and only the fourth team to be above 500 of the East. And I think they have and know they have a pretty damn good young star and trey Young and the fact that basically they spent a little money in the offseason. Probably foolishly they gave gallon already way too much money. They expect a little more better on their returns. I think if there were all the names we talked about the East before the year, the Celtics the rap there is the Pacers. These teams were all playing above their head above 500. I don't know that Lloyd Pierce's fired. I think they're looking around, saying this would have been a great opportunity for us to make strides with our young star and trey Young and the money we spend. And instead we're 11th in the East. And what is maybe the worst Eastern conference we've seen in years? I actually think boy, Pierce is more of a victim of his surrounding circumstances, more so than the actual talent on his roster could be fair point. I got a feeling that Nate McMillan or whoever is the full time head coach, though of the Atlanta Hawks moving forward, we're not going to sit there and say, Oh, boy, that was the missing piece of the Hawks if they get better. Significantly better. It's gonna be because their talent gets better. It's not gonna because their coaches could be that much better than Lloyd Pierce. When we come back, it's a trash.

"Well when you look at the hawks signing danilo gallinari who at some point people thought was going to be. The biggest name moved as a free agent for three years in sixty one point. Five million dollars twenty million dollars a year for a guy who's thirty plus now. It looks like a lot on paper. I guess because gallinari has been around for a long time. And you know. Technically past his brian. But he's a very very solid guy. And i likened it to paul millsap being signed by the nuggets a few years ago getting a vet while you have lots and lots and lots of capitalism and crippling yourself too long in the future. I think it'll be totally fine on their books trash. Thanks very good at that with the hawks. Oh three years twenty her effort danilo gallinari. Who is a maker and will make shots when trae young gives him the ball. I think it just fits on the court really really well. They needed a guy who he could. Just pass it to now. It's will you talk about. The wolves really really crowded backward. The hawks frontcourt is now crowded. Gone are is afford these days. He's not playing the three. John collins also four Anita they just draft five. They have clean cappella the five. That's a lot of bodies for sure. But i think just like the wolves. Everybody's on the table you know. They have contracts at every range. I think that's sort of why the wolves beasley to that number. They've got contracts that they can throw in as an asset as a dollar value. Whenever and so. The hawks are ready to deal. I don't think gallinari. Like paul millsap in denver is a part of the championship. Ross envisioned years down the road but when you got money and you got a guy who can make shots I think it just it makes sense again. Not crippling your your Your number in the future

Lou Williams, mantras Herro gala Nari got some buckets, Jalen rose. I really thought the words we close this series last night. They did not what did you think about this performance the clippers? I thought they were going to close out this series as well. And I wanna make sure I give proper credit words do when I looked at this rock construction. The first thing I said of Jerry, West did a great job of tainting seasoned savvy, vets that know, exactly who they are whether they're in a locker room on the airplane on the bus when they get in uniform. They're gonna show up on the court and do exactly what's kept him in the league for really longtime. Doc Rivers continues to prove he's a top level coach. He's already won a championship. Danilo Gallinari injury-plagued. Denver chance plagued everywhere. No doubt about it. He had twenty six big points. Okay. What about Patrick Beverley, and it proved three point shooter as five? Yeah. Okay. That ain't why he got in the league, and they left them open for those. Okay. Any not only has seventy points, fourteen rebounds. Okay. So they played with a level of too nasty. That's refreshing for me as a fan to watch. And then you go skill. Where's louisville? Okay. He's a professional score. You'll wanted about this game is the warriors didn't lose the game. The clippers won the the word play. That bet we'd take him into rain head Forty-five Steph curry had twenty four Klay Thompson had twenty two. The warriors didn't play that bad the clippers just played really well to be and also this is a classic of as a series gets longer and longer you develop different personalities within how you need to play to win that game explained. At home, the clippers could rely near young fellas. Shamet Alexander Robinson. They all have big games in the staple center. But when his Dur dial we going back to Golden State and trying to win the second game in a series versus the three-time champions in the last four years. It's all about the vets will. And when you watch Lou will play its version of what we see from Dame dollar don't underestimate it. And here's what I mean. Guy that when you give him the basketball, you'll your hips, unlike Dame, he shoot from thirty five feet. And so it looks a little different today's game. Why a guy on a perimeter score thirty points, not been Simmons only making one three. How does he do it? He got a handle. He could play an off phases. Him in mantras Herro. "Mason and Ireland show, I'm John airland in for Mesa's. Andy cabinet ski. Somebody's somebody tweeted us. Hey, the clippers the cap space to do that. Yes, they do especially if they were to move Danilo Gallinari Danilo Gallinari is scheduled to make twenty two million next year if they were able to move off of that contract right now even with Gallo, they have fifty nine million in cap space. So it would just require those guys to take a bit of a haircut. But if you can manage to move gala Nari, yeah. Which wouldn't be that difficult because is coming off a good season. It's just one year left. Then like you said they have gobs of cap space. Right. And and, you know, creative cap people can all of a sudden move some people around, and yes, yes, they can't. I remember one of the one of the reasons why why the small owners were so against the Chris Paul Lakers. Trade was not only were the Lakers. Getting Chris Paul. They were saving twenty million in caps. Yes. So that's what scared every, but this is also why I mean, not to take it all the way back to Lakers. But why I I have been frustrated with a lot of their probe towards cap space because I think they end up there. So single minded and never wanting to dip into it at all I feel like they limit their lack of options through a lack of creativity like, for example, signing Julius Randle would have made sense this year because if you really needed to create that cap space, he would assuming he played the way he did last year and this year, he's easily movable and also you have then at that point the type of contract on your books that you often need in order to make a trade for say an Anthony Davis to so you can make sure all the salaries match, but they tend to just horde the space and not be creative and flexible about the way, they use it. Well, something's happened in this summer. I'll tell you that. I don't know what it is. But something's happened in this summer. All right. So earlier in the show we debated before we had Roger Cossack, and we talked about the Luke Walton case we debated whether or not in Mason. And I spend a lot of time on this normally. There is a shadow consultant. There is some type of a person that is out there that the Lakers are checking with before rob makes moves now ever since Magic Johnson step down people like Mason, and Sam amick, and others have suggested that this is a real person that this person exists that he is currently out there working for another team..

"Fish, my thoughts. I had before buzz Williams came on talking about use of Newark itch in that devastating injuries suffered last night. And I said that if you have not seen it, and you're watching CBS sports network right now, I'm not showing it to you. It's it's terrible. It's horrific. It's hard to see even when you know, it's coming. It's still hard to watch the audio was bad enough and those were on the floor on both sides were definitely. Definitely moved by what they saw affected by what they saw. And Kanter, quote, I'm going to go home and pray for him because this is way bigger than basketball, we clinched a playoff spot, and we're not even celebrating. He was a big part of our family, not our team our family, and I don't know what to say. The opposing coach nets coach Kenny Atkinson, quote, that's what our guys are talking about in the locker room not the game or the loss. You're talking about a player who was having a great game. And a heck of a player. See you just pray. It's not a long term thing. And he can palace back. It just takes the wind out of your sails, and quote, that's the opposing coach who said that. He said that they weren't even talking about the game. And that takes the wind out of your sails, and it wasn't just in the blazers and nets locker rooms. It was all over the NBA Dylan Danilo Gallinari, the clippers tweeted never never give up. My man Yousef Nurkic. I know it's hard but you'll come back to play. I'll wait for you. Donovan Mitchell quote, prayers up for Norwich. Victor Oladipo quote prayers up for which you will be back stronger than ever. So he was immediately taken to the hospital diagnosed with compound fractures to his left tibia and fibula. I mean, it is awful that is terrible. Like, I don't know if injuries like this are happening more and more than they did in the past or for just more aware of them. Now, then we weren't in the past. But it feels like in the past few years. There have been so many more injuries that are horrifying beyond words. It's always horrible to see something like that happened. But even worse when Newark was having a monster game inside of a monster season, thirty two points, sixteen boards, and he was coming into his own as a player. And now he's got deal with coming back from a riff injury. And no, I'm not really interested in hearing anything about how the blazers or cursed or the fact that it ruins a great season for the blazers. Because his Kanter said it's way bigger than basketball. It's way bigger than just at team network. Has a really long road back. But he's obviously got to help a lot of people pulling for him. And again, I don't know if that's just me, or if that's a fact, but just seems like there's more and more of those truly horrific injuries, and you can put out when right near a top of the list, you think of any horrible injury that you've seen. Especially in the NBA put that one right there. That's right up there with Paul George Gordon Hayward. Kevin ware Depp ad. So if you go looking for that understand what you're going to see something that bad. Right. In addition to Kelvin Sampson, which is coming up next Michael Abernathy, solely a matter of time before that guy showed up in a sports story. Right. Well, he did. And he had himself a day, and I'm gonna try and get to that Nike might be right in the middle of it gotten updated. Bob Kraft story for you too. And I wanna talk about Eric burns for a moment. "And so I had very little faith in them as they had the same team constructed all the way long, but they've made those part motions decisions to fire their coach to get rid of the Rosen and replacement why I actually liked the reference to cook. So you can have home court decided by the end of January. That's what you're saying. Even without the Knicks making the trade for Anthony Davis running off thirty straight. Okay. Could happen fill three LeBron scene. Look like to be ruled out tonight versus the clippers. Now. Maybe this report is doubtful for tonight. He's return to full contact practice to the last week yourself Israel. Lebron plays for the Lakers. The Lakers wear purple paying you to be an analyst here not a fan. What to buy? What the self? Well, I'm selling the idea that it's been five weeks of just him coming back. It just feels like there was some sort of the setback or is holding out for some reason. But if I were them, I definitely make sure he gets into game or two before the all-star break. You don't want to have this guy at thirty four years old playing his first game back in the all-star. And you're wondering if he's that's another question. So my call the best question the show should he play in the all star game. If he hasn't had any any game action since then solely on interest that. Healthy he should play. It's funny. When he first got hurt it was day to day. Guess what? It's now thirty seven and he might miss his eighteenth consecutive game. This is a critical point for the Lakers because the trade deadline is this week. They're playing fourteen in the next twenty on the road in as right now they're out of the playoffs. So the sense of urgency is to get him back right now. Yeah. I mean they wanted him back to weeks ago. But obviously that hasn't happened. And I think key posted an Instagram the other days getting close usually LeBron, you know, when he's getting close I really thought he was gonna come back tonight. But it doesn't look like he's quite there yet. And that's what actually has me concerned because this is the kind of injury that you can't have setbacks and though setbacks lead to more setbacks, and he is after all thirty four years old. Yeah. He's thirty forty is not a guy that we've usually seemed fall prey to injuries like this. And then something that they have to consider going forward, especially this could be considered sort of a wasted year with LeBron waiting for the offseason to get that other big piece I wouldn't play him in the all star game. Because you gotta get yourself into playoff contention. You got a big to give him a chance to. That's interesting. That was about a minute. One hundred eighty degrees hers Tom Brady forty-one give him another contract. What the projects thirty four. I don't know. Maybe should have. Scores today. Look at everybody in the twenties that's good for the season points per game. But not so good for the showdown for Shelbourne and. I sola. I was Ford. Go down in a row this week. I'm on what is that about? It's the ice age and In the. the poll showed. The way Joel Embiid gets under blanked skin and it results in blank for the game. Israel. Well, I think he easy answers are DeMarcus cousins and Draymond green. But if you pay attention today, they've been really focused lately, I'm going to say Kevin Durant is going to have him get under his skin. And I think there might be a couple of technical fouls involved there. Well, he likes to go way up to the big name players. Russell Westbrook, James hard. Even though you said it's easy answer. I think it's going to be dream on cousins combination. One of those three. Okay. So you come moated up and the idea that I'm be gets into their skin. Does that prove to be good for Philadelphia? 'cause it throws the warriors off maybe or the warriors because they're in playoff mentality in January can can rise above that. I'll let you know, what sense that you think the war is rise above that. We'll split the point. We'll move on showed that to you wanna play for Sean McVay in the Rams when you're still under contract for another year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sean Jackson. "The clippers should they have let blake griffin while he remembered ages added danilo gallinari in a trade threeteam trade should they have let blake griffin walk and started a complete rebuild yeah i would have done at tear it down tara all down i mean we're seeing across town the lakers essentially torrid down to the studs right and then the ship they'd sign a couple of bad i tear it down ages got bad by the i i blame a lot of it on cobi i know you guys are tight and you text play and facetime each other that's fine but what i want to get out as i do not lakers are still rebuilding okay the clippers can tear it down and rebuilt russell what how lonely books again say is there a guarantee they were down zero jet life they were down for twenty years got chris paul handed to them and they were uh they were down for twenty years now they're relevant they still can fight for the playoffs yes and and leyla refers while blake griffin got a lot the people having seen at least eur captain of the blake griffin noah look blake griffin is very good outlook here's what you want in the nba you wanna five seven year run of being relevant ideally be and in the title toronto raptors have been relevant for five hours and that's better than be aware lando is i don't know i'd better to be aware charlotte i would rather go where the sixers win that whole team okay and that cdm stay healthy for what we are like the next come if you're healthy your antitank and great obviously it's pretty clear from that list an almost say in italy's acknowledge the endall be all i think because their teams that take never get back up some teams don't get back up the golden state warriors were very very bad for a long time after that baron davis run remember they were battling were 20something win sunday didn't tank they just they just it were a good management bottom out get hyped dan murthy ellis they cory mcginlay were trying indiana pacers were going to watch their a great test case right now right they refuse they don't think they can tank in that market their gm is come out and set it.
