Big names moving on include third seats stephanos sits past 7 seats, Daniel Medvedev tends to Hubert or catch an 11 seed Cameron nori. I'm Dan schwarzman that your Bloomberg world sports update does. All right, Danny, thank you. Well, China has said it would welcome a visit later this year by treasury secretary Janet Yellen. These comments come after Yellen met with Chinese vice premier Liu he in Zürich, the meeting was described by both sides as being candid by the way this is the first top level economic meeting between these two powers since President Biden took office, want to take a closer look at the meeting with Bloomberg's Asia government and politics correspondent Rebecca Chung Wilkins, who joins us from our studios in Hong Kong Rebecca, thanks for being with us. So it seems like we're feeling a little positivity here and it seems to be moving in a positive direction. Wouldn't you say It does certainly feel like the momentum has been sustained from what was quite a constructive meeting between Biden and C in November at G 20. It is worth sort of bearing in mind though that Liu he among the other sort of cohort of top economic planners are on their way out. We are sort of in this odd transition period for China. So while certainly positive that Yellen is meeting with Liu her, when yelling and blinken, who's also intended to go sometime early this year, they will actually likely be sitting down with a whole new set of top economic planners. There's been much discussion that China might be changing its wolf warrior type position. Is this the beginning of softer diplomacy on the part of China towards the U.S.? It certainly does seem like a softer shift in tone and obviously moving of tiangong who has been sort of quite inflammatory at certain points indicates that same direction, but there is, of course, is still big overhang of tariffs and of sanctions. Now Biden showing no signs that he's going to pull back in those sweeping sanctions. And in fact, we've seen sort of multilateral support now from other countries to support some of that. And that remains the big sort of contentious issue, even with this meeting, again, highlighting that that is still an issue for China. Now Beijing has actually been relatively muted relatively calm on what have been quite sort of sweeping sanctions. That, of course, is still up in the air really to see how Beijing is actually going to respond. So in mister Liu was speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he was a little critical of some of the western banks for raising interest rates and I would put on that list. The fed, mister Liu basically asserted that these higher rates are damaging the prospects for the world economy. So I mean, there are some things away from trade that seem to be concerning to Beijing. Certainly, and it's worth remembering since Leo heard took one of the top jobs in the highest echelons of China political power. China hasn't actually gone through a global downturn in the sort of somewhat on the back foot in the slightly weakened position that it is now going to do. It's really the first sort of economic crisis that Xi Jinping is steering China through, where growth is under pressure obviously still ramifications from the lifting of the coronavirus. And even once we see this sort of bounce back from reopening, all the issues that were there before are still presiding, there's still an enormous level of debt that they're trying to juggle. They're still trying to deal with the fallout of the property crisis. And ultimately, what kind of trying to figure out what are going to be the growth engines for China's GDP going forward. There's a lot of uncertainty there and China sort of navigating that in the context of a global slowdown. Of course, must be top of the mind for many policy makers now. Who needs the other more so China obviously would love the U.S. to change its position on semiconductors, doesn't seem that likely that it's going to do that anytime soon. I think that that is the assumption and that is the working assumption for many in Beijing, longer term, of course there is this focus to develop a sort of domestic industry. The issue is, of course, for both the U.S. and China when it comes to semiconductors, is that takes many, many years. And so this risk of supply chain and preserving those supply chains continues to be an issue, even if we do see sort of the U.S. and China continuing to move away. Of course, what are we seeing happening is these other countries that are sort of squeezed in between South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, big question marks about precisely how they're going to lay out their support and potential economic partnerships and friendships with both China in the U.S.. That's still very much up in the air, I think. All right, Rebecca, thank you so much for bringing your perspective to bear on this conversation as it relates to meeting that we're expecting very soon. In China, another between treasury's secretary Yellen

"They prolific proliferate with every Grand Slam that we do because our pumped Ness proliferates with every Grand Slam that we come to. You find us at tennis podcast towers Melbourne take two. We're out here for so long, we couldn't find accommodations that could accommodate us for the full three weeks. So we've had to split it into two stages and this morning we performed the big move as it shall ever be known and we're here is the most important thing. We made it. We made it. We needed two cars. We needed a sort of tag team effort. And I think we remembered most things. Yes. I actually left a bank of crisps. Two bags of Christmas in the cupboard, it's been a long day, anyway. And we're now in Richmond in Melbourne, and it's become clear why Richmond's a favorite of Catherine's, because the amount of dogs in Richmond is pretty extraordinary. David and I went for brunch today and I basically David to a sort of dog crash. Genuinely, by accident that it was so great. Not completely convinced by your argument because it was, it was absolutely lovely, to be honest, to be surrounded by so many dogs, so Richmond, so far you have my thumbs up. Was it the Danielle Collins recommended? I actually knew about it just anyway. Yeah. It was known about before Danielle Collins got there. But I mean, it was dog central and there was a moment which David captured on camera head to our Instagram if you'd like to see it folks where two bernese mountain dogs paraded past me and it was heaven. It was like Elton John had walked past. It was, it was extraordinary. Now, before we get into previewing the Australian open, which is what we'll be doing very shortly indeed because it was media day yesterday and the three of us went to every single press conference going. I think we missed tomorrow cool patch. There was a clash we couldn't get to tomorrow patch folks. Feels in hindsight like a blow in a mistake, really. We've come all this way. We spent all this money and we failed to go to the big tomorrow patch press conference, but anyway. And particularly given the joy she gave us at Wimbledon. I mean, now but our joy was her misery though, so I'm not sure she does. I mean, I did have a question for her. How does she feel about being in the main draw of the Australian open when harmony tan isn't? Probably would have got quite a good answer. Some people might not remember the story, just a very brief recap of what happened between them. They were doubles partners, they were playing together at Wimbledon, harmony tan, unexpected to everybody, harmony tan included, did very well in singles, of course, not Serena Williams. Out of the singles and backed up that win reached the fourth round, I think harmony tan. Pulled out of the doubles and tomorrow call patch. Understandably agreed about that, but didn't handle that with grace and dignity. Didn't keep it to herself. She didn't keep it to herself. Two separate Instagram posts about it and the closing line of one of them was, well, if you can't play the next day after a match that goes three hours, you can't play professional. You can't play professional. Epic. But don't worry face we did go to every other press conference yesterday and there was some cracking lines from them. I feel like we really did learn a lot. So we'll get on to that in just a few minutes time. But first, we have news. Genuinely extremely exciting news. We've been wanting to announce this for a while and we finally can. The tennis podcast has a sponsor for our Australian open coverage and that sponsor is on location, the premium hospitality and experience provider. "No. But we also had our final the final match. Slovakia in the day session on court one. Slovakia defeating Belgium two one. I quite enjoyed. As soon as we kind of got in to the stadium to the main court, literally within 5 minutes. Not even 5 minutes. You rushed off to the velodrome court 'cause you were what? We so desperate you wanted to watch kuzmova versus bonaventure. I didn't actually tell you where I was going, I just didn't come back. And I knew that you know where I was. Yeah, I was front row for that one. I was there to find out what the story was in terms of locating Elise mertens. She obviously wasn't playing in that match wasn't picked for it. And that was a very interesting press conference which had many more people from the press than you would expect for Elise mertens and the Belgium team added a way match and we did find out she was being clocking up the air Mars. She's been clocking up the air miles, but she's also she wasn't an option for selection because she did get in wheels on the time I get 9 47. Last night. It was very specific. He was tracking that flight, but and also said that showered. She did say that and there was a joke about maybe not being the freshest when she got off a plane, but what commitment to the team, she did not complain about it at all. She said, maybe she would complain if she hadn't have won the title. But she was very positive about it. And but she did say when it came to the scheduling around the tournament here, she did say that it would be nice if they did something about it, but she did not complain, but when asked, she obviously wasn't going to say there was a problem she said, yeah, that would be good. That would be good. That would be nice smiling. I mean, who, I mean, I don't blame a Texas Madrid London. Yes. Three floats. Yes. And then on the tennis court, getting a win in record time, 6 love 6 three. And it kind of sets us up for the matches today because mertens is back on court. She's on singles duty. They have their number one and two players playing today, unlike yesterday, they need to go for the three zero win and you'd imagine that the team they put together of Elise mertens and cursive flipped games versus storm Sanders and Samantha Stosur could be a very interesting doubles match as well as Elise mertens from the other vehicle being a great singles match. So they're in it to win it now after a very difficult start for them. Yeah, it's interesting you talk about the specific ties because when you're talking yesterday about it's almost like not looking at it tie by tie, it's looking at it match by match because generally speaking, that's what it can come down to and you really do have to take it one match at a time. Every set, every game, it matters because when it comes down to it, it's very hard to know what your opponents will do when there are other matches and it's not really about the wins necessarily. It's about how many of those rubbers you can get an individual ties because that's what it looks like when you look at how they total it up in the groups. So it's a very different perspective and Harriet dart was very clear about that that the match was still live, even though they were down two zero against Kazakhstan. It's a strange sort of feeling because it has that hard to she said it was a block that out. This tire is dead because yeah it can all come into it. You know, get the calculators out and make it interesting who knows how important it can be. I mean, day three is upon us and we have a game four times today. We've got Australia versus Belgium, Canada versus Italy, Spain versus Great Britain and Czech Republic versus Poland. Well, you know where I'll be Joel, wherever Bianca is. Tommy had a bitch mertens. I can go between. I can go to Bianca first and then I can check out the murders match because I think those two are really going to play the best for their country and then for the evening's predictions Joel, I think we probably think that the Czech Republic is going to get the win over Poland. I mean, that was going to be my final question was because Czech Republic do not have bob or a critique for she has dropped out with a hand injury. Does that weaken check republic chances? Because for me, like USA, there are a team that have strength in depth, so how much of a how much does that weaken them do you think and not having critique for in squad? I think it will prove to be a bit of a challenge. It's very handy on singles and double score. They were lacking last year, a doubles combination when it did not include critique of it and signac of a plane together. They were trying to arrest her a bit last year because she was obviously going to go under lahara, let's give us here for first singles, but they have got some quite kind of an untested players like look at verse and just coming back. She's been playing on some of the smaller tournaments in the UK. And I just picked up a title. Yeah, they're going to have to play some of the levels that we saw last year when von Dresden was the stand up player of the tournament for us, I think, probably. Given some of the ways he was dismantling opponents. So unknown quantities there, but you have to think that the combined level of the team is probably enough to take down magdalena. You think so. Yeah. The net. Fetch was also good. I've got to be honest, yeah. Yeah, yeah, thank you. That's a disservice. Yeah, surprise package in terms of how hard they could. If it was there, they could have won. I know. That is a very interesting question you brought up. But yeah, we'll have to wait and see how all the ties get on today. We're going to be back tomorrow for our day three catch up, but I think you've enjoyed listening to this day to catch up of the BG king cup finals in Glasgow with tennis weekly. But for now, it's goodbye from Chris. Goodbye. And it's goodbye from me. We'll see you again soon.

"I agree. Are we going to see chill type with playbook three hour matches? I swear, I mean, to me, one. Yeah. But to be fair, I had not really heard much of Elizabeth whatcha rato, but she put up a she put up a great fight because I was just, I think we were both fully expecting Trevor Santa feature somewhere in the singles, but Koch hereto was very, very hard at opponents for tightness to put away. You've got to feel bad for her. I saw her play against eugenie Bouchard in Guadalajara in 2021. I think she was playing there and it was a case where she's a bit similar to some of the big hitters who plays very flat and if she's making the ball, it can be going well, but she can also really mess and although she did lose this, she had match points. She was up in that final set. She was, I think it was 5 two. She was up and wasn't able to close it. So you've got to feel for her. She is a young player and she was doing her best for a country against much more highly ranked and I was impressed with the showing and press that when she got broken, she broke back to force the tiebreak, but it was one step too far. And another two zero result already. So we haven't been getting many deciders apart from that the U.S. manager. No, no, we haven't. And the reason for that was because Ben chic defeated paulini in straight sets. I mean, bench is very, I feel very, very dependable. Very motivated from what we are so impressed as well about the controversy last year where there was a late change from team Russia after the Samsung some sort of ended up playing number one, even though she was actually ranked maybe three or four on the team and that was because she had a really good headshot against bench. It was a bit naughty and kind of reiterating from last year. She did say it was within the rules, but it is stretching the rules. And now the rule has changed. So I think it's particularly interesting that they are more motivated this year because I do think if they had played in the correct order against the Russian tennis federation, they would be the winners. So I'm hoping that they have a good showing in. It's interesting because you can understand arguably like a two person team light Switzerland could get frustrated when a team feels like they have so much strength in depth, they can just do whatever they want and bring in whoever they want whenever they want. Like a Russia a Russian number four playing number one. Exactly. What I did like in the press conference afterwards ventures spoke about the feeling of feeling woken up from the excitement of typhoon winning after three sets. You know, she doesn't get kind of distracted or kind of frustrated that this match is going on and on and on and I don't know when I'm going on to the court actually. She feels a little bit inspired when she's watching her compatriots play on the tennis court. Yeah, I've been to definitely said she was a bit nervous when she was watching that long match and trying to find out what the result would be ahead of her match. It's obviously nice to play knowing that you're one up. But still, I think she's able to keep a level head. She's super focused and as we said, super motivated. Yeah, and the press conference was an absolute delight in terms of they are vibrating. For me was giving me season in Switzerland. She sees it as exactly. Get me to Verbier.

Well, it's a slow go throughout the area a lot and delays throughout the area, but we do have a problem right now. A lot of callers checking in, eastbound en route 7 in the Ashburn area is after the loudoun county Parkway, the single left lane may all that it's getting, but maybe what is all good that is getting by the crash. Now, looks like we're seeing delays on route 7 eastbound, pretty much from Belmont ridge road or before Belmont ridge road trying to make your way past the scene in Ashburn. You're going to need to give yourself some extra time to get through there. It is eastbound 66 that has the delay before two 34 business headed past 29 in centerville. "She can use it offensively to maneuver opponents around the court is such it is such a good shot. It's sort of such quiet total mastery of the game of tennis that Barty seems to have developed at the moment. And the way she's serving and rolling through games on her serve as well, just sets her up for the rest of the game to flourish. Well, in the final, she will be playing somebody who has beaten her before in Australia. Who knows how significant that will be, but I'm sure it'll be in the mind of Daniel Corden when she takes to the court on Saturday Collins today, be eager on tech 6 four, 6 one. It was just in the zone stuff from Danielle Collins that sort of purple patch match that we all dream of having one day. Every time you unzip your bag, you think, today could be the day. It's never the day. But for Daniel Collins today, it was one of those days she was just brilliant she if possible up her level of aggression and intensity. Certainly aggression there was some stats coming up, I think, certainly on the coverage out here showing that she had added about 5 mph to her average backhand speed. She was just absolutely drilling her shots with just confidence in commitment to the extent that ego Schwann tech said after the match that that was the hardest ball she'd ever faced. In a match, she said, look, there are players that hit the ball harder than that in practice, but they usually take a lot off the ball in a match, you know, to reign in the margin for error. So, you know, I think if Collins is a big hitter, I don't think of her as one of the biggest strikes out there, but I wonder if she was just so confident. I'm feeling it so much that she was hitting the ball as big as she possibly could and just trusting that it would go in and not worrying about margin for error. Especially that backhand because she's so confident with it. That is her shot and Darren Cahill, who is there, I think, doing ESPN court side coverage. He made a little cameo pop up on eurosport, and he said, look, after the first set, he said, the first thing shown tech's got to do is stop feeding that backhand. She's got to start going to the forehand more. And next thing, you know, just as in the first set, it was three love in a blink of an eye. And the stats were coming up, and she was going way too much to the full hand to the backhand rather and just feed in that shot. And Collins was sitting on it and when she strikes the thing and often she'll go across court too, she'll give herself a maximum margin for error, hit it as hard as she possibly can. And it is like a catapult coming out of the racket and you know, you're on the defensive and actually that shot to the body, slice back and most likely will be a fascinating visual, I think, and to see where that ends up. Ego shrunk serve, I think was shown up tonight. Look, we know it's not necessarily the strongest part of her game and perhaps never will be a big weapon, but it was attacked viciously tonight, you know she was frantic was just looking stranded after the service delivery and the fact that Daniel Collins was serving sir will herself. It just, you know, as schwantz said, impressed, she just didn't really stand a chance. Given all that. But I got the impression from what she said impressed. She really knows she needs to try and beef up that so she was talking a lot about the fact that she feels there are a lot of areas she can improve with her in her game, and she's glad about that. She said, look, if there were no areas that I could improve, then that would be pretty bad news because I'd be losing like I did tonight. But it's going to be interesting. What she can do with that shot because I don't have the technical knowledge to know whether she needs to change the motion at all to get more out of it or whether it just needs time and attention. I don't know that, but I do think it needs beefing up for hardcourts. And I certainly think she is ambitious about having success on surfaces beyond clay. I also think she was not a step slow tonight, but just perhaps didn't have the energy to even try and match Collins for intensity. You know, I know probably not anybody can actually match her for intensity. But that's quite an intimidating and fearsome thing, I think, to have across the court from you and she won't take looked not up for the fight, really, not that she wasn't fighting for it out there, she was, but, you know, I'm not sure she was bare knuckle fighting the way that Danielle Collins wanted to. They're different characters, aren't they? But I mean, I think the interesting thing with Collins is I only really she had a really dug into the massively vocal come on and let's go when she started to feel.

"Me that that gives me so much fulfillment. Because like i said one of my goals is to be able to accomplish something like that and having that in mind really helped me push through the last couple of tournaments of the year. Obviously the last tournament. I got injured but I stated my zone. I didn't really pay attention on what was going around me and i think that was the key for me But then you know twenty twenty head. I didn't play anything in twenty twenty. It was just like completely year off which is super rare especially at that age like that But that's another story. Maybe you're gonna ask a question about that. I don't know but let me know if you want to so. I think that your generation has a harder time being a professional athlete. Before you know back when you think about like steffi graf. Aaron kim clijsters back in the day. They didn't have social media. They didn't have all these things to sort of like getting their from coaching standpoint. It was easy is like yeah. You're on a roll with him. Parents at home. You can kind of control that messages and control like the tone but now the practice go to dinner go in the room and they wake up the next day and like something. Bad happened mike. What could have happened with you locked in your own last night but it could be she media messages. How do you manage that now. You know like a lot of nba players during playoffs. I don't check my phone. I like my phone to my best friend. And nobody asked for tickets whatever. How do you manage the outside forces. is it a week. Give of your phone. what do you wish tactic. Yeah so. I definitely Stay off my phone as much as i can to be honest social media. I personally don't like it because of all the external voices. But i know it's an amazing platform for myself to you. Know inspire others or for sponsor reasons. And that's basically what i use it for and you know to interact with fans. I try not to look through comments like i said or through messages. Sometimes i like to go through messages and reply to som- just so you know i get that interact with my fans. I'm sure they appreciate that. A lot But for sure during a tournament. I try not to look at it If i have to post all just post that and completely turn off my phone And that i guess start just a little bit before the tournament but yeah i definitely was tough seeing some rude comments at times or some rude messages. That can really with your brain But i have a really good team around me. I have amazing people around me. That helped me stay grounded. And i can't thank them enough for that. He always posted on his story messages off the internet. Then he does. He does his platform for something..

"But i think from the fan base. They don't always pay attention to order three weeks ago. She quarter two weeks ago. She sent me last week. So this as a coach to say that we can always tell like we're playing well enough. All of course stuff is sort of calm and a nice and tight and the draw sort of line. Hotel is nice. Yup right you know all this. And there's no other like distractions around us while because i didn't have as many but you know with injuries as well. I did have some in two thousand. Nineteen but i recovered from that so i was just locked in and it is just like okay. I wasn't he goes open two weeks later so he knew because you could always tell even with. Sloan went to the finals of the french open. I was like she lost like the week before to putin. Save in the first round and we were playing well enough to have a retirement when you win out. Split a birkin bag which you didn't have to do it. Cause lots of on our way whatever's like 'cause you could sort of yeah. Everything was sort of calm. We had a good trip. No tom plan where hitting the ball whale practicing. You can sort of see it so he felt. This didn't totally come out of nowhere. But he you know your player talking about life after because we struggled after as all right. Tell me about life after where you talked about. No pressure no expectation. Now is like oh. Us open now. Every time i play the next president plays you're going to have a career win right for them like a headlining loss for you. Tell me about the chats. So the way. I handled everything afterwards. I think was very well. Because i stayed off social media like i never really went through comments or through other people's posts about me. I just stuck to you know being in my zone and focusing on my next tournament. Obviously when i came back to toronto is a little bit hectic because people started giving me presents and start asking for autographs for whatever reason on the side of the street. I never expected that to happen. But i enjoyed because one of my goals is to be able to inspire others and i know i can do that through sport because you know when i go out there i can give my best and just show and give a good example to the younger players. That are just starting to come up. Or even you know people who are married or i don't know because i get messages on instagram That i did check but you know during quarantine during everything that happened of people. Just say oh my god like i started playing tennis because of you you inspired me to push through this exam or whatever it is and to..

"And yes. I have adjusted my where i fit him into the scheme of things somewhat this year. I don't have nearly as many louis harris memories of twenty twenty one. Is i do public memories. Don't you think that says more about bob lick though perhaps maybe maybe of just picked the wrong blake to compare him too long. Why to have more louis. Taras meme live. We raised more memories together. I what's but yeah. I mean i think the thing is. He's been been an opponent for a lot of players and put up good shows against a lot of people without necessarily winning the big ones year. And he's been in all these first round draws and one match youtube but he hasn't had runs apart from that dubai tournament when he say memory bleep beat dennis chiappa valid in the semifinals which felt like a really big moment for both of them really loosen to crafts over the final. The knee harris in dubai. But i know this is. This is a real statement. I know it's against a subpar sub fitna dow. But you've still got to do it and you've got a not choke and he managed to do it so it'll be. It's one of the really interesting matches coming up the fact that he's playing him again so we'll watch that would interest. Yes it's a bit of a kanye federer situation in two thousand and seven. Isn't it way he gets shot at the same bloke again. That's if the results any different. I was going to say a foot vich. Rupe situation that you've come up with a former eye-catching example. Not just about the fourteen years picked it straight out front end the other person that we were talking about a lot earlier on in this year because of his results challenger tournaments was jensen brooks pity young american player who has now broken into the world's top hundred fantastic run in washington. He john millman for the loss of about two games or three games. I went. I was trying to think. Well what happened in that match so went back and watched the highlights of it today. And i don't even think millions playing badly Is just a measure of how clever a match player brooks spears and talented is the the orion shots. He's got to dis- comforter a solid baseliner. I mean i. I'm quite sure. It's only really. Because andy murray has drawn attention to him that makes me think that he looks and plays like andy. Murray that i'm thinking that but when you went to have gone and watched it today it is. It's uncanny to me how how similar it is. The way goes about his business. What he's trying to do to an opponent away he's hitting pay shots and dropshots of nowhere. Probably a few too many of them but they're devastating and then he's got this ability to draw somebody into the net and hit hit a passing shadow run which looks impossible and he just tied john millman up in knots. Frankly today or a few days ago ended up getting to the semi finals. He lost a tight. I set to yanic. Senator went onto win the whole thing and then a comfortable second set but brought me with brooks beer was really interesting. And this is what murray tweeted about him out in the weather. Andy murray does. Sometimes jensen brooks be is the sort of player. I love to watch lots of variety high tennis. Iq great in defense and back volume almost identical to florian. Mayer andy murray. I'm glad you found that as funny as i did. It reminds me of. When did that queens quiz with him. And i also remember remember what the question was his speculative on so was shang. Shell couldn't as if anyone anyone's thoughts about shang schulkin in the last fifteen years. I do like the fact that eytan has chosen to reply only murray with just don't say that he's going to be a future number one. We know how that ends to which marie has aden to task. He's replied yeah he might get to number four in singles and number one in doubles. That would be awful so chippy. Andy murray on twitter is it's a marvelous sight. Don't know how andy doesn't things by holds does he. He's decided to get back to twitter. And he's definitely gone back to. And he likes jason brooks and i can really understand why they the guys good to watch. Yeah totally i mean. He blew away all the all the opponents. He faced up until the semifinals. In addition to middle many beat kevin anderson francis t.f oh and felix or jelly and that was the match i walked and yeah just found it so interesting because on the one hand you've got your siem who is so smooth than has this perfect technique and just this looks like a great tennis players caught that live physique and then the other end of the co- you've got books be who's just a little bit rough around the edges and has a slightly old technique doesn't look completely polished and yet he was the one who had the winning game plan. He thoroughly outplayed or via seem. Just great anticipation moving him over the call as you said he's got that he's gonna disguise dropshot which she to hit with with two hands on the back can just at the last minute takes his hand off it. He's he's really interesting and he's won three titles on the challenge tour and whenever a young player does that. I just think it's you just need to take note because clearly they have a winning chip there. Have something that's ingrained. They know how to win tennis matches. And yes it's a big big step up to start doing that at the atp level ahead of the challenger level. But he's transitioned pretty well already reached the final in newport as well this this run in washington. He's he have already arrived. And i think i think we'll be saying a lot more of be interesting to see whether coaches and other players configure out patterns trouble him whether his slightly odd looking technique in some. Some strokes is something. They can exploited because of the moment if feels very much as though he's doing stuff to them and things that they're not expecting which which is great to watch so i do recommend having a look at him if you haven't seen him yet Yanic senate ended up winning. The title in washington beat mckenzie mcdonald seven. Five four six seven five. I've only seen.

"Check getting their breathing wanted. So yeah look. I have no doubt dan evans will get it. Backer just i think it's a bit of an unknown quantity how long this'll take. That must be very very disconcerting. For him. I think it must be troubling time for him. I'd imagine and difficult to get matches ical so the moment because you're playing really good players at the ranking. He's he's asking me and i think it was. We're going to talk about washington the tournament that took place last week in a minute but he lost to him. Seven six six love against brandon nakashima. Who's had a great couple of weeks and reached finals. But still that's two first round losses and no cause for alarm in terms of losing a couple of matches as such. It's more that as you said. He had covert straight after wimbledon. he did not about. It stopped him training. And i'm sure this is the case for a lot of players that it just becomes really difficult to get yourself back up to speed against pleasure you haven't added and a yeah. I do remember some days mantra when i was there. could be just blisteringly-hot others were full of thunderstorms in lashing rain but We'll we'll we'll find out what what if acts are over the next week in in those couplets ornaments which are being played without roger. Federer and novak djokovic which in the from from men's perspective in toronto and now we've we've learned today. Cincinnati is also going to be without both of them. We you for a few days. That was the case for for federa. He had decided that he wasn't gonna be able to play either. Which i think is has to be a real concern. He cited the knee as the reason for it and he talked about a setback with that ahead of the olympics which he pulled out of jovic today has said what was painfully obvious to anybody watching tokyo. That is exhausted. He needs more time with his family to rest up and get ready. I still think. I it makes for a very interesting additional element to the story over the next few weeks to weather the that the players are building momentum. Whilst he's got his feet up makes any difference whatsoever. I thought you say whether he's going to play winston. Salem welsh. don't think it's out of the question I don't think he will listening. I think it's out of the question. Matt yeah i think so. I think in a statement he basically said. See your new york. It is interesting though. It does add an extra element of intrigue into what is already a fascinating story. The us open It's fact me that two things need to happen. In new york for djokovic to lose and one of those is djokovic being below par. And i think the stress of what he's trying to achieve could could cause that thing that's possible the other thing is if he doesn't have his form and just isn't playing well and look didn't play well to finish the olympics. He needs to rediscover. The form had earlier in the summer. I think in terms of someone being able to beat him the thing. Is this any really a handful of players. I would have thought that he could draw. In the first couple of rounds. That would trouble him. You know. I think curious would be outside. The seeds got fritz shin. Imagine a mean curious jerk which first round a little. I'm imagining you know. But there just aren't the threats. I think. I think that is probably a part of the reason why he feels comfortable doing this. He backs himself to rediscover the form and to get through those first few rounds of the us open and to get into that tournament. He knows himself he's one slams before when he's not had a lead in event it's gotta be the right decision I think it's the right decision as well. I mean i. I suppose i immediately look at it and just think wow not playing a leading tournament but effectively. Everything he's been playing is a lead in tournament because he's been playing so much and this is just the ultimate refresher isn't it recharge batteries and he. He's done it before. He went to wimbledon without playing on grass before it and he won it a coupla. Yeah yes. Of course. And i don't know i just think that he is. The worst thing that can happen to him is be in any way tied or jaded and he looked that immediately a in that moment where the match turned against vary. It was like is like a sudden moment where it just all gone all of his energy and he needs the maximum available to federal is just an extension of what we were discussing wimbledon. I think that he is in a. I think he's probably in a bad way. And i can't seem plane. Us open may. Maybe that's wrong. I just cannot see it and therefore who knows whether whether he can get himself match fit again. Guess we'll say but it just seems too much of a stretch to me. It of you think differently. I think this a scenario in which he the this setback this admission that he can't play any lead up tournament to the usa from which essentially is is an admission that he can't challenge for the us open. Even if he were physically able to play. I think maybe maybe that is the Rubicon crossed in terms of being the end. In which case then the decision is do. I play the. Us open just to play one last usa. Open i'm one last grand slam and feel like i'm going out on my terms now all inkling based on sort of loose intel but nothing firm in particular is that he intends to go out the labor cub Possibly this labor cup probably.

This time for amazon prime video talking about the tennyson canada matt just sort of fits in and around katherine and myself. I don't really know how he's coping. That's what fourteen years of friendship and professional companionship. Does for you right well. Let's talk about tennis shall we. How are we both we all right. You've just done a day of canada. Catherine what's it. What's it look like from now. You're in a studio in london. But what does it look like. Witnessing these two tournaments i guess for the first time with the same rights holders because it was supposed to be last year wasn't it and it didn't happen. Yeah we'll from abroad. Cussing point of view. It's it's it still feels like a massive luxury to have the rights to both and not. She is the first time we've done. I mean will kind of jersey unique. Isn't it with the concurrent men's and women's and we've talked before i think we all just really loved that former. I really loved the two cities. The the alternating between men men's and women's each of them. I think that's brilliant. Yes just feels like a massive luxury the darting around and knowing that always be some decent much to go to. I mean. I'm sure at some point in the week that will be an inevitable downside of having to sacrifice showing one match in one gray much in favor of another but they're all available to be on the platform at least And yeah i i. I love these tournaments particularly love montreal. I've been there twice And that two years ago the last time the tournament withhold of course it was the men's event then and i love the city I love your the hospitality if that tournament. It's it's really right up. There is one of my favorites. I've got very happy. Sort of medvedev emerging memories. If if two years ago is the first time. I remember thinking ooh he could be quite interesting And yeah no. It's it's great. I have to keep stopping myself. Sort of accidentally talking about weightlifting. Because that's what that's what you've been doing. Yeah no exclusively weightlifting just out of the blue thanking thankfully for the views. I've been to montreal and toronto for the tournaments but both the atp tournaments a dance. I didn't do the the wti tournaments stink. Two thousand three was the first time for montreal and it was won by andy roddick just a couple of weeks before he went on the. Us open the double. Didn't with brad gilbert watching that david's dangle of the c. n. tower a point on the ground before that's i mean. They didn't let that happen. Which is what. I explained to my mum after up. Choice in the video of me dangling off the top of the c. n. intel. Well it's very easy to say off to the very glad i did it. I thought i was going to be a rockstar. Like gues- did this really. Gnarly thing was really gnarly. Pitcher was not cool. And actually i involuntarily began soaping away and could stopes the way around. I was with people that i didn't know that well in that i still have to see. Okay well then. I went to toronto in ten said. One time i've been and that was a tournaments. Which was won by. Andy murray and i think he might beaten down federal back to back to win. It is my recollection. Crying was the big. Four in the semis. The quite few times actually happened. I think you think they always reached the semifinals of every tournament. But that was actually quite a rare thing that they were all there and yeah. Mary came out on top kidney plumbing. That i was gonna say on the one who was there and i'm just about vaguely recall in that that might happen. That's got the actual stats. And oh and by the way there as well matto you. You're right very well thank you. Yes i just wanted to say catherine. I think you've done a fantastic job of not mixing up toronto montreal day. I feel like that is a big challenge. this week. I had a sketch pad in front of me on which i actually wrote. The broke. the words t for testosterone. Try and remember that the men were into onto the women. I just couldn't make it stick. My head was swirling with thoughts of modern pentathlon and canoe slalom. And i just couldn't. I couldn't fix it in my brain and and the era came over talk back instead. Just remember t- for testosterone and it got me through the day. Say thank you for remarking upon that what is your. What is your for him once. You got for testosterone then. The logical conclusion is m for women that works right. Let's talk about the actual tennyson showy. And there's been lots of. I think we start with them and just for start the event. Today the match i saw was dan evans. Being beaten handily by alexander public Who who looked brilliant titled many looked as though and he's still seem to be playing within himself. He is this guy we saw use stating trick shots and outrageous stuff and that was as close to percentage play full of rallies sending him to victory that i can remember but the other half of the story was that dan evans didn't didn't look anything like his normal self is about right. Yeah this offense. Quick difficult to from a bullet points of view. Because yes he did look really dialed in a never really wave it in that which. I'm not sure it's something i've ever ever properly seen. Before but equally. I i i thought dan evans to shoddy. If himself really there is no exuberance him there was no Scrappy nece and they just seemed to be no resilience there yes. He's a very stylish player. But actually what wins in much is all of those things rather than the the stylishness And and take them away in he can quite quite ordinary And so outgunned. It can look so out of his depth. I think And that that's a little bit what he looked like today. I'm quite sure he'll get it back. You know it seems you know klay cools in effect. I think he said he said kobe. And okay he's recovered from covert now but that doesn't mean it hasn't taken a lot out of his training and really disrupted his preparation for an extremely grueling portion of the season the the conditions in both toronto and montreal actually look incredibly tokyo esque. It must be just whole thinking territory for the players that are in tokyo and thought thank goodness. I've got out of that colder of fire and even in canada and it seems to be kind of identical conditions. Suffocating humidity. I i in teed j. contouring her hato remus evening officer about conditions and she said yeah. It's really sweaty retirements. When today three in montreal we saw a number of players on court getting the blood pressure checked today getting the pulse taken in the blood pressure..

"But hey we've got stop the top seed this. No you know. Asaka new bossy new williams sisters so Sampling case headlining on dress gave. It's the second age which i know you were quite shocked by. I know she won this title. I think last time around or at least will what would have been held. In toronto two years ago when she won a owned rescue still because of the ranking freeze and everything still op there despite not having one very much and just looking at the bottom bottom quarter. I mean is a pretty loaded. Quarter as quarters. Go because you go on the rescue in there you've also got samana highlight returning now. She must be feeling pretty. Good about self given you know. She's taken a wildcard yes. It was disappointing. She wasn't able to defend a wimbledon title. She was able to go to the olympics. But it's great to see her back in a main draw but she come up against danielle collins In in her opening match because collins has got jill titan and if she comes through that that's going to be is gonna. I think quite a tough ask for the help. And you've say go concert jessica gular as well and peculiar unseeded again. A player who last season in swearing to build up to the sap was just literally burning up the the heart. 'cause really really quality player on a hardcore orange jabbar's in there as well in that that boston boston. Cool to cass akina. It feels it feels like a lot of the a lot of really really good players already. Bunch too clever At the bottom of the yeah. I mean joe is also in the bottom half when she hasn't played in wall and she's zhang in the first round so who recently beat amerada to win the winner of that place which leader so even if joe gets through that agency hugging getting very far. Unfortunately i mean i've got my own. Yes subline crossing would do very well. i wanna say moog aretha. I think she's actually sitting jaka in the first round. He came through today against ostapenko but if a garage there because ostapenko was well. I send you a thorn. She was faking. Okay sorry for mats it. Yeah i mean you've got say is a reagan as well pishva in that top off. Your suppling is the top seed. Yeah she i think she's going to be riding high on some some confidence. I wouldn't be surprised if she goes to eat. Beg gain. I could see. I could still see as earn kroll. Mugabe thought they all my personal faves. Say i'm going to be a little bit biased. But some yeah. I do wonder if the the women might come out of that bottom quarter given the it's there are some very hard matches very early on. They're not my set them up while i think for the latter ended the tournament. So i'm mike gave yeah. I might gopher. I'm danielle collins jessica. Geula to be honest getting through to the final. I think someone unseeded could come through that given an on rescue. Haven't really been on the on the tennis court late. Yeah absolutely coca gophers. Well what can g day time to to get out there and start shining again but we will be back next week to round all of the action up from Toronto and montreal say we shall be watching always a eager eagerness this way for quite friendly and all on the type sites actually we can watch it on a after after term. "It's unlikely joe but that may happen because he has pulled out of toronto and cincinnati because of a setback with his injury. So is he going to participate in the year as apron. Potentially if he does is he going to. Just be very undercooked with with no matches in advance. And if so you know he's you've got thing he's not going to do realistically that well as a result. Yeah i mean it's not it's not. It's not great news. You know hearing the fact that he's had to pull out of toronto in cincinnati. And i think that it will be of big disappointment for fat fans is a big disappoint. I think for tennis fans in general. You know i was hoping to see you. Know flushing meadows Just to see you know the big three. I think just out the fact that they are all on twenty grand signs it. Just be great. I think just to see them all participating there That might still happen. It might not. Yeah we all know. Federal construct was at the moment particularly with this kind of pesky knee injury and it has got people thinking in terms of well. I if if he's not going to be paying these mosses events and not puts his you know his participation. us open in doubt law slam of the year realistically. You won't see you're gonna come back for and yes there. There is the you know the labor cup Basel as well so you know that's probably still things that could tempt him to kind of come back play some tennis. I mean the labor cup. I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be there in a playing capacity but yet the news at the moment is is not great and yeah. It's a bit. it's a bit disappointing. And i think the most disappointing thing about it is you know someone of roger federer's stature. You know you want to go out on his terms you know in the sport you know the disposal. He's given so much to just feels like at the moment. Maybe this this injury It's is arguably robbing him of being able to to do that. Yes as row shame. Because i just thought after the surgery in that time off he had that he would be able to withstand the tool for bit longer but perhaps not You know he has already paid an awful lot of matches. Then the lost seasons and lost your of c. Diff difficult from forever but we will await further. News from from camp fetch. I just wanted to where he still like. Just dropping out of the french open because he he this is officer shows. He's obviously in a fragile state at the moment. And you just. I think take grand slams for. He will grandsons for granted. But you know you should just take them as take them as they come and you know yes. You have to plan strategy. Is you'll season and you'll see his felt. That was the best thing to do at the time and it was a great cheapen i think in hindsight him getting to the finals of wimbledon. But yeah you do what you diesel. Wonder that he was in the second week of the franchise from whether he could have given what's gone on since whether he had a had an opportunity perhaps to perhaps not go out in the necessarily in the in the way that he did. Yeah that that decision did some people say. Yeah she kind of temporary forgotten about that say perhaps it was By on the bummer. Bet but some. Let's look at the National bank opens joe. It's going on this week. Basically the rogers cup. They've kind of changed the way it said So the men are in toronto but just tried to make it a bit more concise and pithier with that with that mutahi to him. Yeah i mean it sounds so much better. Doesn't it anyway. Toronto montreal for the women the men. There's no jovic So no zverev after the olympics We've got medvedeva top seed rougher seconds aid pretty much of. What else is there. I would say Overseas sinner going into as the washington. Dc champ Go back after his wedding lovely. I would go casper. Rude omaha court so interesting. See how he can transfer his recent klay prowess onto the north american hardcourts. Yes quite is quite interesting drawer and again is there's no real letup really for the top two seeds. I mean let's start with with method. I mean he's going to face. The winner of dan evans versus alexander booklet. Which could be a that. Could be very fun. Match i think. And then we kind of A boxer early came rather could face lloyd harris again in his opening match in Toronto lloyd house has to come through qualify first of all Also in that section of what we do have carrio specis radio poker. I think that's all the night session tonight. and the winner plays grigor dimitrov. Yeah i mean a a harrison adele matt second match that could be called. Og not could be quite interesting. I be inches that he surely think that would be able to as revenge if that much. If that much came to fruition. Well i think yeah. I think harris paid quite well tactically last week and i'm sure rafeh wouldn't let that happen again. He definitely would learn from from harasses tactics and put that in the bud. I think i think yeah. I think i'd give the edge. You think would make the same mistakes twice. I think that was a one off. Upset torchwood she says we've also go. I mean unseat unseat. Both players unseeded by feel plays up in the you know playing really really good. Tennis amendment cam nori ss karen kachin of With the wind plane crash save. I mean nori catching. That could also be quite as quite tasty. I think first match. Ben perr against because but dodo does well and bricks be is on a on a wildcard. Actually he's in quite favorable part. The draw could come up against alex manure if he comes through bassil billy as well in in the fast around. I mean brick speed manual. That is going to be if that happens. That's the number of extended rallies expected. Batch is going to be off the charts. Because i feel that both those players are quite be quite defensive and it will be a very much. A game of chess will decide to school. Yeah it's quite cool. Some of these matches none is that that opening for a owned the uso swing. Say i mean you predicting any joe are you gonna go top seed mevdev eager to think is he her cash gonna gonna ask sheba how she's a cha i'm wondering if shop olov At home he does have. He does like playing. Hey but he also except coda in in his eight-match which again will be quite tough casper. Rude is he going to be able to just kind of continue on his On his full yeah. I'm not sure. I mean i'm i feel i'm going to have to go with a. I'm just looking at the drawn out of my head. I think yeah maybe. Yeah i think maybe medvedev. We'll get to the get to the final. I'm not sure about nidal. I think he'll do better than he did. In in dc I'm wondering whether maybe an unseeded player. Maybe mackenzie donald again could Spring a surprise baton. Yeah i think medvedev early. I think i will be able to get through to the final. Not not hate life doing so like he like. He did like you did at the olympics and they become free with the title. Yeah my my inclination is also towards medvedev. I think yes. I'd love rafferty well in cd better than last week. But a date thing. He has enough yet to go all the way he needs to be on. I know i think he's building opposite. I e stephanos sits pass. Haven't even mentioned him he. He's there as well so it's quite it's quite report when you don't have the likes of chuck rich In the. But i mean what's even more even is probably the the monetary all of the women which is. Oh sorry because it's the montjeu. It's the omnium bonk nationale which i probably madrid with my fred jackson..

And now we're going to move on to the second half where we're going to commence with a rendition of mysterious player which we haven't had for wall have we say hi is welcome welcome return exactly a yoga into to be victim to wanna be. I'm not going to be a widow. I think given by my previous record of mysterious players. But i'll give him my show. Okay rights listeners. I hate you already to play along. And you're thinking caps on say. Hey we got a clue number one. I was born on the fourteenth of may nineteen ninety-three okay so slightly slightly younger than me I'm going to say also can be like twenty twenty eight twenty seven. Twenty eight just said malia francis t.f. oh no. I'm not. I will give you more claims which will be narrowed. I'm pretty sure that we have an old memorize birthdays. I was born in a country to which my parents had moved to the year before. Nine hundred okay. I was going to say. Dennis chiappa valve. But obviously that's not correct because a bit younger than that I'm gonna say mckenzie mcdonald. No that would be quite rent. But they wouldn't yeah. He's got like if family origins in i think china scottish and english descent as well. Actually i was reading a little bit. I would hate with a name. Like mckenzie with donald. He had some kind of skull judges very true to scottish names. Possible okay right clearly number three. I am currently ranked number fifty seven in the ta. Singles rankings k. w. ta player fifty seven so and can be they just been like a. I wonder if they've just been like a journey journey. Women just made around iraqi. We'll we'll wherever they the slide or on the way up. I'm going to say. Come on joe's it's out boozing eski that's steve require decent shout clearly you number four. I think this is. I have made to grand slam singles quarterfinals. But i have won seven. Doubles grand slams. They pretty handy doubles player. And how sorry. Why did they get to in the grand slams They have got to quarterfinals at singles slams that career but they have won seven doubles slams. Okay despite run Okay sydney akiva. It's sitting akhavan. Yeah you guessing warmer joe. You're getting warmer. I okay number five. I think this is. I won my home slam with my compatriot back in two thousand sixteen but shortly after our partnership ended. I think this is home slam. I'm thinking i'm thinking. That's the french open a. I think it's is it christine. Not that vich. It is so that might give it way that clay. But yeah i had a couple more at my save. My my most favorite cly was according to gubbay amiga aretha. I speak about twenty-five language. Yes we should have rate brought up way higher. I would definitely go. I left till the end of the liberty because he's become folklore in tennis but yeah. I decided to go with this week as listeners. Enjoy that and it did quite well Maybe you to before. Joe will maybe not. I also had That she won the fed cup in two thousand nineteen what winning all three rappers in the final beijing s. Yes that was in the in australia. As wasn't it woes. Yeah and losses. Short people would have got this. I was in a relationship with a fellow. Tennis professional for two years and up. See that was dominating team say there. We go mysterious player. "He's very difficult to play against. He you know. He's not the most orthodox suppliers as well so Is very tough. Very tough opinion. And and i think american tennis for the for the young guys they've got some really good prospects oversee expe- coda nakashima. Who as being doing very very what. I was disappointed. That nakashima o.'neil to the third round and lost out to dennis cutlip out. He's probably a bit tired after the few weeks. But yeah lots of quite quite exciting. As if american tennis fans. I would say i mean duct sheba cape through don evans. Seven sixteen. Probably less about that the better. I don't know what happened in that. Second set but yeah it's been a very impressive. I start for you know for americans that might not necessarily be on people's radars and this might be know time kind of leading up to your sapien. It might be full. One or two of these payers to make their mark. I think the thing we have to say is that. We're gonna take a picture. So kim because americans they loved. We know they love hyping up that players and that juniors and it doesn't necessarily doesn't necessarily always kind of pan out like that. I think back to la donald young for example when maybe to an illicit to a lesser extent francis. Cfo i mean. Don't don't cheat me. That i feel like he's still got a lot left in him to give. But some yeah. I think at the moment this american males tennis is certainly riding on a on a high wave and mcdonald as well and he's not necessarily necessarily say he's a junior bricks be seems to be leading the line there and as he said that unorthodox nature that he possesses is something that just players to tucson able to figure out yet and although i think he comes from that background of yeah having sold it kind of ground strikes from the back of the cool. He also loves starring in light. Double-handed backhand dropshots which i think catches a lot of players like a of god. So yeah it's really. I think exciting times in. There's no doubt they can be absolutely dangerous. Kind of opponents four seeded players to come up against in the the main jobs to come up to You know up to flushing meadow. Yeah what happened. Donald john die is the question of the day i think joe now you mentioned his name. He took a set of murray. I think kid the davis cup in in like in when it was in scotland when that when it was the tie gets america in glasgow. I think anna's like whoa. Whoa i to like do a quick like double check with. Did that actually happen. But yeah it's You know he's a great you know. He's a great player. He was a great personality as well. But yeah just felt like a note of expectation was kind on him. And i think that that's not an isolated example. I think of a cases as well and yet the nakashima quarter as well. Hopefully they fall into that trap. Absolutely i was like is the gasquet effect as well as the player. That so very much in line with that and let's talk about job because we had to. Wj events happening loss week. Five hundred events in san jose in california where we had done yo collins Winning his second straight tournament To claim this won the biggest title of her career. I mean she's ought to have a role at the moment isn't cheese. Won ten straight matches one amongst the fans they subject to fat as we get onto that and a bit but she came through against daria kazakina. A six three six seven six one They played a really epic tiebreak which was twelve. Ten kaseke no saved. Well much boys. In seconds i think three of those were in the tiebreak to take it to a third but yet daniel collinses faulty strong in not third-set and yet really backing up Kind of maiden title-winning in paloma which was on the cry and then to go win. You know your second straight title and different surface very impressive. Yeah that was. That was seriously good stuff that you able to transition say quickly girl across the guy across the world as well. I mean that was very impressive from danielle collins. And i think danielle call it is. One of those is one of those players. He's just so she's battling the player across the call but she's also battling herself i think and it was quite clear i think in that tiebreak in in the second particularly she was up against catholic kina but also she was up against the fads of the fans were Let's call is either their barricades as well. They were just dot letting her play her game. She felt that they were cheering and hollering during the points off the points it was really her off a game to the point that i think you know she was caught on tv saying shut up to you to her home. Fans and I don't think particularly to her fans. But daniel collins is so a player. Who doesn't she just does not care she. You know she wants to win. You know she is a you know she can be at times allowed an intense player on the tennis cool and the it was just a very very impressive victory from her but it was a victory. I think yeah came from k. From anger that she wasn't able to get get it done cedar. You can see that. Walk to the net. Even though she'd just wanted the pick is hlavac career she booed was on on the exterior. It did not very happy. Yes she didn't look yes. She didn't look very pleased when she won. But i think for me. I felt that that was because she felt should have one definitely in in straight-sets she doesn't always bit like she's having a stroke on the call. You know how she she is know she gets it yeah. She doesn't have to be with sweetness and light as she as much as some people might warheads bay. But i mean i think that was he pops in his speech. She didn't so you say thanks to funds for coming and ebay that my of course they've concentration especially the home crowd but you know she's she's just getting on with it and like yes you do have to. I mean does she won't crowd's going forward like what she liked the and to be be like it was last year without growls. Probably not say. I was thinking that wherever that they'll call it. What does does she actually like play without crowds. Because she would have to deal with all of this. We'll all of this kind of madness noise going on around. I think maybe was kind of interesting. Is the fact that you know crowds have been an fans have been deprived of tennis for so long. Live tennis for so long. The fact that you put them then back in in a fuca paseo. Whatever does that mean. They're gonna go an extra a an extra bit crazy because they haven't been in this situation for eighteen months. I'm not sure. But i feel like in america We've seen the the crowd new york for example if the is are some of the most You know it can be. It can be well. You know wild night wa atmosphere on on the night session..

"Yeah absolutely it will. We'll see how he progresses through the rest of the. Us open spring but like gin thaw a genuinely thought with food crowd. That would have been the thing. The would have got him excited. We've seen him go to the crowd and osc wedge will be to serve on. We're going to have the team. Have out white i was. I think he really loves that. The interaction say. I mean maybe in the future. Maybe that's the that's the source that he needs. Maybe he just needs to reduce rediscover that and that that means. He needs someone on his team to help him. Rediscover that is able to do that himself. But i certainly feel like yet. It's the fans obscene. Love him being there and yet maybe he can. He can use that as a source of inspiration going forward he probably needs to play the raffarin. A factor being a give him a a piece they were small of close to each other in the the drool. What what was that was on the cards. But it wasn't was eight because rafeh I mean raffle. I mean raff had a couple of matches. Were win very tough. Win against jack walk. And then he came. unstuck against loyd harris. Yeah and you love a bed. Lloyd harris thank you. You love his hair flowing so yeah. I was like typical lloyd harris. Yeah six four one. Six six four lloyd harris kind of getting of crucial break in the said set. I mean yet. Disappointing as a rapper found. They didn't go further for me. I was just pleased to see him back. And i thought you know. He's had six sets of tennis. Hopefully that's what he needed in terms of match practice you know. That's why he's probably comeback early. It's this event as opposed to starting out at the mall. Sary's and i think positive news was that he said his his kind of injury which is sort of still bear. Bear it's improving. It's getting better and you know he hasn't been able to practice kind of the time like he would have been wanting to say to be able to get through these team matches. I think he he seemed to be kind of fairly. Oh right Afterwards and hopefully you know in toronto this coming week he can. I mean he's actually going to potentially playing noy towers again but we'll get into that later. Loiterers could have two wins of his life in the space of two weeks paps but think that was probably lloyd is biggest biggest win of his career. I suppose as anything he's ever defeated someone of rafters caliber are. He's become the first player to win his first meeting with rafeh since eighty euro data chiappa valve Him in twenty seventeen in the The rojas copying montreal so Yeah it was really really really impressive from him. Think we've seen yes. We spits in spurts. I think from lloyd harris this season i think particularly earlier on. I think i remember in dubai. He put pretty good run to get the from qualifying all the way through to the final in the main draw in ever since i've sort of cut a been predicted to kind of go on and so kickoff on bataan yeah i felt like with dave that victory. He really did show The talent. I think that he kinda possesses and gay. He's any kind of twenty four years old he sort of. I think now the battle has been passed to him. I feel from kevin anderson In terms of kind of south african tennis. And i think yeah he should be a moment now where he can kick 'cause i certainly think he's got the the tools to to to go to go. Hi physically i think with his ranking so he will obviously take great confidence from that victory with ivan. The dow came the other match. The dow played. I think we need to talk about that as well. Because three hours against jackson walk the crowd were absolutely loving it. I thought he was actually one of the matches of the year. So far it was just such a it was it was such a surprising Surprising encounter. Because i didn't realize why think we've gotten actually is fans how good jack salt can be on his day. And i was really really impressed by the level that he that the salk brought the core against the dollar i think both players and it with more winners than than unforced errors yes. Nadal played an absolutely expert Tiebreak to to win in that third set but again that was not an easy That was not an easy opening match for nidal and it was just a fantastic fantastic battle between the two them. Yeah i mean. Jackson was seen a former top tan. One i think the paris masters like quite a few years ago. Now say we know on his day he has. The game is just black. That day has not been happening for a long time. And i guess when you're out on a night session with rougher you wanna turn off your date so if there was an occasion where he was carry on that is exactly what it curiosity needs the nights he needs tonight session. He needs the cameras on him. And then you'll be right is right. He just wanted to say tension doesn't play. Well an american as well. Jason brooks be. He reached the semifinals. And i mean he really is like on a hot streak at the moment because he is now into the pundit i think in the world whereas only you know a few afi wheat well it seems like a few weeks ago. He was outside the top two hundred and he's got the newport fine all. We got to the semifinals hair. And yeah looking looking really quite quite prospect but also you know andy murray been getting involved on twitter which might be paying the kype shorten him. We all know are berries. Prediction sometimes can be bit interesting. I but yeah he he so upset that jensen brooks bays exactly so apply that he loves to watch because of his variety and his his high tennis iky saying his backhand volley was almost identical to flurry. And maya which supply. The i had not thought about in a long time. How could you. How could flory remind won't be at the front of your mind kim on him and his back. I'm fully. i love that. That was quite a niche reference for berry by app see loveday and flora was a quality player back in the day. I remember watching him. I think against you'll see one on like an outside. Cool flushing meadows of the us open and it was just such a thing. I just that battle of of double-handed backhands dislike offices so good but yeah jensen bixby is was. I play this week. Who i gain think like mckenzie madonna. Just one lots and lots of fans probably not law players. Sorry fans at her had heard of him. He got to the final in in newport. Where las to to kevin anderson Yeah kane came in herod just picked up some really really impressive victories and watching know i don't watch much of him before and kind of watching him on tv again. He's just got this style that he's just a great defender. I think and He was just able to get the everything back. In the i watched against He took out a felix. Elliot's it was just really clear for me. Murray talked about the fact that he had high tennis. Like you and i completely agree with that statement. Because you don't sit to him on the net faa. I think the moment yes. He's got talent. But i think he's gonna low tennis. Iq i think he's strategy wise. I just not sure he's got it. I just don't think he's got it down yet. And when he came up against someone like brooks be between was just getting everything back and faa just didn't really know what to do and i don't think he necessarily has that variety yet the a thing she chiappa is so i think overtaken him in terms of prospects for canadian tennis right at this moment and doesn't have that variety and as a result you just of standing behind the baseline hoping to hit winners and win the match that way and brooks was absolutely having none of it and he was running around the corner gang app. See everything back in and it was just really really impressive. Yeah i suppose the faa win probably his most impressive as well as his win over in the round before an came out saying this is. He's very difficult to play against. He you know. He's not the most orthodox suppliers as well so Is very tough. Very tough opinion. And and i think american tennis.
