"Star. The toe of the will battle it out to the finish and they go for one at the york bred three year old fillies shop star to narrowly defeat puerto creek. Na terrific addition of the grade three go for wand the mile in one thirty six three. So that's how it went if you had poker you know. There's the we talk a lot on the show about psychology and horse player. Psychology and dealing with with beats is a big part of that process. Because i think for so many people their decision making particularly soon after a beat and and you know in the world of poker it's called going on tilt and it applies in horse racing as well your decisions become less rational. They become more impulsive. Come based out of frustration they become based out of trying to get even etc. And you know if if your day is tied up in a horse like puerto critic who runs the exact race the way you see it you get the price you wanted. It all looks great away from everybody else in the race. You're twelve lengths in front of everybody else except sharp star. You knew not. Matal in was a complete toss. Oh let sixty five. This is what happens. And you gotta you gotta you have to say you know you can curse. You can scream. I mean we all. I did a video. That i think is going to get posted at some point at twin spires. I'm not sure when but about how different people route and how cheer home horses and stuff and there is a catharsis whether you're at home alone playing the racist on twin spires or you're at the track that there's a catharsis get mad and you know to me. It's it's one of those things i'm romantic about. Like i love the route. And i love the cheer and i love the upset. Like it's just part of the equation that makes racing and gambling on races. So beautiful to me but my in my old days my inclination after taking a tough beat like that one where i really thought i had everything scoped out and and it got you know by a neck on the wire habits would have been. Okay screw. okay. I lost my forty bucks or whatever i gotta i gotta do something to get it back or i'm going to try to double up on some bad bet somewhere else and now i try to reframe it in the fact that i got seven dollars and sixty cents to one seven and a half to one on a horse that i thought i had a big chance to win the race a handicap at a certain way it played out that way just wasn't able to hold off the other sixty five shot in and he got beat but if you give me the opportunity to have seven and a half to one on a horse that's on the lead through respectable fractions and turning for home and look strong. I'll take that every time. Every time i will take it and it just so happens it didn't work out this time and you and you try to move on as quick as you can but i i really do think it's a an important part to the The horse playing puzzle is being able to not only control your emotions a little bit better but also to be able to realize that in a weird way once the gate opens. You know your bed is in. You've you've made. What you think is the best decision and now just see how it plays out and of course you know. Of course you wished the horse would one. But i think in the grand scheme of things and looking at process in a situation like that. I'm happy. i think. I think i did the right thing with the pick based on the price. And what have you so things to think about the cigar mile of course is the centerpiece. But i feel like so many is on the rams it's become a little bit of a fabled race in one because it has a pretty great history a lot of very good horses of of running it. We've also in recent years seen horses very well and it went and then come back and beat a very short price afterwards. So you know ed and marcus hirsch and me and others always kinda talked about the rams curse so to speak but to deny the you know the the great runners that have run in this race is is foolish because there have been a lot of really cool editions of this race and it's an nine furlong two year old race. It's first time. I think we really see that for the main track for these horses. And it's a step often on the march if not to the kentucky derby to the to the kentucky derby trail ten for ten who ends up going off as you're sixty five favorite known agenda ends up going off at nine to five picking time down on the inside for kelly breen kelly. I think looking for his third straight rumson was that right Taking some good support as well. And so let's take listen back the call the rim stakes midway up the backstretch ten ten leads now by two lengths two and a half lengths over picking time not gender down at the wral. The half went and forty seven and four brooklyn strong on the outside and third and then the longshot erawan as they pass the half-mile pole it is ten for ten. Who continues to lead here. And the lead is a little more than two lengths brooklyn strong moving up on the outside of pick anton known agenda down at the rail and erawan. They're all chasing ten for ten. Who continues to lead. Ten for ten ran three quarters in one twelve and three and now they're coming for the quarter pole. Jose ortiz took a peek back. He's got a three length lead on ten for ten. It is brooklyn strong. Giving chasing second ten for ten with the lead into the lane with three sixty to the finish but here is brooklyn strong up on the outside the challenge stanford dead on the inside and brooklyn's strong on the outside and the toe of them are heads apart for the lead with a sixteen to the finish brooklyn strong ten for ten brooklyn strong and ten for ten ballot out to the finish and it is the new york bred brooklyn strong to win academics rams stakes very exciting addition to the renaissance stakes and brooklyn strong scoring the the. You know the upset win. Seventy two on the morning line but floats up to seven to one s. Ten for ten and not jenin. Picking time all taking pretty significant money. Ten for ten was on complete cruise control throughout the early stages of this race. And you know this was another one of those races where the rally came from up on the outside. And and maybe that makes a little bit of a difference. I mean like i said it's. There's a neck margin ten for ten. Though i this i didn't want to blame so because the first one. I don't think the horse was necessarily like on the rail especially into the stretch was out a little bit. But like you just can't have that clean of a trip and get beat. But that being said i mentioned this angle every so often of and i always give credit to vic staffer. Because he's the one that told me about it but finding horses who are running down leaders who are running away from everybody else Is is something. He looks for to show that a horse's may be pretty good. And that's kind of what brooklyn strong did right. I mean they really did run away from the rest of the field and that includes ten for ten Who was loose on. Lead such for for brooklyn strong to run down a horse who was really on cruise control and was running away from everybody else. I think. Pretty impressive effort. I mean the horses is now. Three for four career is a new york. Brandon had kind of been competing in those new york bred stakes. They decided to try the opening company and trainer. Daniel velazquez has to be just completely thrilled with the effort. He got you know what they got the source for at a spring sale. Five thousand dollars. Five thousand bucks in that. Was you know it'll be a spring. What does that in march parents probably in the spring of two thousand twenty five thousand dollars i mean how. How much could they have invested in this horse..

"Sara gays mother, Stella Rubinstein claimed that the voice she heard during the sands was in fact, her son's hurries Ning was that she was the only person who pronounced his name Serguei while everyone else said surge she and the medium gave the information to the police, but they couldn't find a credible suspect who fit the initials J M as you can imagine nothing came of this wild theory as months turned into years and years turned into decades hope for the case to build the amount of investigators went down from over one hundred to just a few detectives investigated every possible tip that came in. But nothing substantial developed even today, the case is still considered open with a New York police happy to consider any new evidence that might surface, but it seems the key to solving. This case lies with the old evidence. There was still an unanswered question with the cab driver who drove. Still Gardner and Sergei back to surveys apartment. He had never been located and his disappearance and coincidental interaction with Serguei and Estill seem to point to something sinister, although a motive and identity are entirely lacking. Could this mysterious man have been Sergius murderer? Valerie, his resentful sister-in-law the woman who admitted to being happy that he was dead. Maybe she wanted to avenge the death of surrogate brother Andre. But would she go as far as hiring someone to rob or kill sear gay? She was a grieving widow and trying hard to make ends meet as a single woman in the fifties. At the very least money could have been a motivator for her. Then there was OJ Seagraves who had been at war with Sergei over hundreds of thousands of dollars for minority deal. And there was Herman Schultz the chauffeur who intended to kidnap and hold Sarah gay for ransom, but didn't get to do it in time or so he claimed out of all the possib. Abilities. I think an unnamed unknown killer is the real culprit Schultz's testimonies such a crazy story such a strange coincidence. That part of me thinks it could be true that Scholtz in his accomplice planned on killing Sarah gay, but weren't able to and in the meantime, some other person or persons did if only those six fingerprints could have been identified, I wouldn't discount your theory. But I just think that surrogate made too many enemies in his life for his murder to not have been motivated by revenge. It may have been a kidnapping plot. But I think whoever did it wanted money that was owed to them. So I think OD Seagraves or Manny Lester had something to do with it since they had threatened Sergei prior to his death. The actual men that physically tried to kidnap or harm. Sergei could have been nameless thugs. But I think they were hired by Seagraves or Lester. Well, we aren't always going to agree. There are just too many possibilities with this case. Surrogate network of people was vast. And there were a lot of angry bitter, people whom he had wronged one investigator was even quoted as saying if you wanted to collect them all under one roof, you'd have to hire Madison Square Garden. The case was so notorious that in nineteen fifty-six only a year after Siragus death Arcadio pictures released the film death of a scoundrel. It was a rags to riches story about a Czech immigrant who uses wealthy women to get ahead it starred George Sanders and Jesuit Gabor one movie. Poster promoting the film stated his love affairs were fantastic. He took what he wanted from any woman as long as she could help him make a dollar another popular tagline read. He was the most hated man on earth. But he could have been one of the great men in history. X sounds a little reminiscent of rabbi marks eulogy at Siragus funeral tough. True. He may have been successful in terms of professional and monetary standards. But he couldn't maintain any real friendship or romantic relationship. That's right. His wife brother and sister in law. Couldn't stand him everything. He gained in life was through the use of money or manipulation often. Both at the same time, his massive marble tombstone in the wood lawn cemetery in the Bronx reads, quote to live in the hearts of those. We love is not to die when he was a child Sergei dreamed of being a Grand Duke, but he ended up with titles such as womanizer playboy conman and draft dodger the once powerful and influential Wall Street wizard died alone in his bedroom. Unable to take any of his money or possessions to the grave what remains of Sarah, gay Rubinstein is a reputation so blemished by his own actions and indiscretions that rabbi Julius Mark chastise him posthumously for never learning the simple lesson that money is a good servant, but a harsh master. "Lie. So Carter who do you think was behind the Tylenol murders was so hard to say anything for sure Carl's Sumpter the alias. We use for the man who sent the extortion letters to Johnson and Johnson and allegedly killed a neighbor for the insurance money seems like a likely suspect, but he would have needed an accomplice killing in Chicago while he was living in New York. Plus, he seems like he got involved to frame his boss for murder rather than commit murder himself. That's true. What about you, Wendy as easy as it would be to pin the crime on someone is mentally unstable in violent as Laurie Dan the crime just seems too sophisticated for her to have pulled off which means I have to go with Roger Arnold? We know he's capable of murder and not too concerned with anyone getting in his way, his botched revenge against Harvey Walker could even be seen as an attempt at covering his tracks. We also don't know the exact. Reason why police dismissed him so quickly for the Tylenol murders. Maybe there was something they missed AB. But even after all the possible killers we discussed today. I still think there's a good chance. The real killer has never even been questioned. Really makes you want to double check your medicine cabinet, doesn't it? It was God you foolish foolish giant, no one rebels against the gods and escapes unscathed. Athena. The goddess of war and wisdom peeled off the face of a giant she'd flayed alive revealing her own face dripping with. Blood. She kept the skin wrapped around her like a cloak and sell. It was a perfect shield a FINA knocked in syllabus into the Iranian see then she crouched down and lifted the entire I'll of sickles. Mass case has captivated the minds of UFO enthusiasts and mystery solvers across the globe. But a definitive answer has never been found me Gail via Anna and men will crews may have been the victims of their own ambitions, the targets of a cruel robbery, or maybe they were just in the right time and place to be struck by ball of globular lightning. I think the two men were the unfortunate victims of a scam. Helena, and the Nita ROY spiritualists promised the two men enlightenment at a cost feeding on their desire for answers. They gave them psychedelics that we're supposed to expand their minds, but really were laced with poison. I agree although the test in nineteen sixty eight revealed, no traces of poison. It seems unlikely that after two years the results would have been entirely accurate. Hamilton bays on confession also suggests that foul play was involved. But perhaps. Will never know. The only other possibility is that they actually met the spiritual beings, they searched for and we're finally freed from their earthly bodies bear version of spiritualism claim that once that happened spirits were free to watch over the world and exert their influence, so maybe Miguel in Manuel spirits really are out there watching over us if they are. Hopefully, they're amazed or just amused by the years of speculation that have gone into investigating the case of the lead masks. "Bacon. The last article that covered the murder of David bacon in its immediate aftermath was published on October sixteenth nineteen forty-three just over a month after the murder in today's world of nonstop celebrity coverage. It's hard to believe that there was a time when the murder of a famous Hollywood actor would disappear from the public high so quickly. But at this time, newspapers were generally squeamish about over covering violent crimes. The average American reader didn't want to read about such dismal things. The case had gone cold at least in the eyes of the LAPD. But did it have to? We obviously can't speak to the minds of the detectives tasked with solving the crime. But there seems to have been quite a few loose threads left in the wake of this investigation. What stands out is truly odd is that no one involved in the investigation seems to have made the effort to put together a time line. Even if that timeline would be hype. Pathetically at best here is one potential explanation for what happened that day. David was in the midst of an affair with one or more people. It's likely this person was a man on September twelfth, nineteen forty-three frustrated by his wife's rejection of his advances. David left his home without his dogs, and either drove to his second department to pick someone up or met them later on. In Venice, they went swimming together and David Arthur lost his shirt, or it was taken by the other person at some point closer to five, David laid out the robe in the back seat, presumably so that he and the other person could have sex while David was leaning over the front seat of the car to climb into the back. The other person's stabbed him in the back, the murderer then fled without sticking around to make sure that David was really dead after the cause of death was revealed. The mortician noted that someone with David's wound might be able to live up to twenty minutes after being. Stabbed David in pain and delirious from blood loss got back in the front seat and started to drive. He crashed the car and died before he could get himself to a hospital. Most of the narrative of David bacon is generally hung up on the idea that he maintained affairs with men. Even though we can't identify any of these men if David had other lovers that might have known something about what he was doing on that day, they were likely prevented from coming forward by the societal taboos of the time. When thing that really doesn't add up here is why more work wasn't done to find out who was in the car with David on that day. As we stated, one witness believed he saw David driving with his shirt off with the woman while Phyllis Parker explained the cigarette holders in the apartment. No explanation was ever found for the purses or women's clothing found there. There's some suspicion that David May have been carrying out a tryst with a male and female couple. But again, at this point, we're mostly dealing guesswork that is. Only viable because of how much we don't know about what happened. One final possibility is the David was killed in inactive homophobic violence. This was and tragically still is a common occurrence where a gay man is lured by someone pretending to be interested and then murdered. It also might explain why. So much of this investigation was left undone crimes against gay men were common, and they often went unsolved due to police apathy. I know we thought we'd ruled out the hitchhiker angle, but I'll be honest, I really feel like David bake played fast and loose with his life. I think he offered a ride to someone he shouldn't have and that person killed him for me. I think it runs deeper than that David was involved with something or someone. He was almost certainly having affairs. I think someone he knew wanted to kill him and because of how well he kept his secrets will likely never know who that someone was the case. If David bacon is fascinating, both because. Of how many unanswered questions there are in how it's generally vanished from the memory of Hollywood. Perhaps that's because at this point, it seems likely that David bacon murder will remain unsolved forever. "Storyline closely follows the real life tale. And while the films don't provide us with concrete answers, they speak to the ever present need for people in Finland and elsewhere to know who did this. And with that being said, I think it easily comes down to Carl Gill stream and Hans Asman as the two prime suspects, right? And of the two. I think Hans is much more likely the perpetrator agree. But what is your reasoning. Well, for starters, his strange behavior after the murder. You mean the hospital visit that, and of course cutting his hair after the suspect was described as having long blonde hair just like his. We also have the photograph of the mystery man and the composite sketch which have compared with a picture of Hans resemble him greatly. And then there's his previous track record immune his links to two other unsolved murders. Yes, not to mention that this was a man veiled in secrecy due to his KGB affiliations is just too much there. In my opinion, if it was one or two elements, I might give him a pass. The only question we're left with is why. Why would Hans want to kill those teenagers that night and what did he gain from it? That is the question isn't it could have had information that jeopardized him or his mission. I don't know. That's what frustrates me if we think about it gills from the angry kiosk man actually had more of a possible motive than Hans and what's that. Well, it's invade emotional motive. If we. Believe what we read about him, that he wasn't angry miserable man, but does anger automatically equal murder? No, but maybe he snapped maybe years of hatred unhappiness built up his Monday job, witnessing happy locals, and tourists alike enjoying lake him. Maybe he lashed out after years of utter despair doesn't fully add up for me either. I'm just saying that there's more of a correlation between him and the plausible motive for Nils gust of sin, the sole survivor. I honestly don't think he was emotionally or physically capable of such a crime. I agree. So Hans is our final pick listeners. What do you think you agree with us and if so, could have been a potential motive for Hans weigh in on the park has Facebook page or tweet us at par cast network. So there you have it Finland's most famous unsolved triple murder. There's a band named after it. It was a case that included to sue. Suicides unto confessions and alleged KGB's spy and a former victim turned suspect who was eventually acquitted. The answers are out there whispered on the wind that flows through the trees and settles on the surface of lake Botum. And maybe we're just not listening hard enough. "Bicycle. To cover it up, hands in the drivers, staged her death to make it look like a murder scene, The did this to lead authorities on a wild goose chase. I assume that would be my guess anything to send them in a different direction. The story would make sense Hohns car had dense in it, presumably from the accident. And according to pull AHRO. Hans couldn't reveal the accident because people weren't supposed to know that he was an ECO CGI us is very interesting. Could this have been because he was a spy at the time? I think that that's entirely possible. So he had to cover up the accident. He couldn't get any police involved or his identity, and his mission may have been uncovered fascinating. But again, this is all conjecture and now that we all have the strange and fascinating backstory on Hans, Let's returned to the case at hand. The lake boat a murders when we left off Hans was of course being considered as a suspect. Mainly because of the. Bizarre incident at the hospital, His blood covered shirt in off at dirt under his fingernails. Yes, That dirt could have come from a number of places, But you know where there's a lot of dirt out in the woods near Lake boat him. Yes. As for the blood, Well, some have theorized that he was out hunting and had a mishap. A hunting accident could also explained the dirt under his nails, but it wasn't just the blood in the dirt as if that wasn't enough. No. Because something else was about to happen. That would keep the spotlight on haunts. Remember those two boys who were bird-watching and saw the man leaving the campsite the morning of the murder. What's that sounds bigger than a bird to move. Look, It's just a man, he's leaving his campsite The boys eventually described the man. This description was later confirmed by a man who was fishing nearby. He also saw the mysterious man on the oil to grounds, neither the boys nor the man got a real good look at his face. But they remember one distinguishable characteristic. He had long blonde hair. This description was released to the public and after it was Hohns cut a haircut. But don't get your hopes up. This is an unsolved case. If you'll recall. And remember the first suspect we mentioned Carl of all DeMar Gil Straem the angry kiosk man, who is said to have thrown rocks at children. He will rear his head in this case again. And another suspect will one that became the front runner for many years. It wasn't until much later that the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation reopen the case and developed a new theory key word here theory with this theory they pinpointed a new man is a prime suspect. The man closest to the crime itself, the sole survivor. We'll explore this and much more as we go under the surface of this murky water seeking clarity and answers to what actually happened at Lake bowed him. Dr..
