Once again, this is Golden State media concepts antenna podcast, captain key, speaking in today's podcast, episodes entitled. Well, first of all congratulations to us here at Golden State media concepts. This is one hundred episode for the anti podcast. So I'm happy about that. And it's entitled today, Harry Potter and alcohol just you what and news hoodie. What's really going on? Well, my good people the planet earth unknown university about to find out what today's hard hitting fun-loving entertainment news. Let's get it. All right. Our first story Daniel Radcliffe midst, he turned to alcohol to deal with Harry Potter fame. See, and you thought Harry Potter was like alcohol. You know, what I did there you you know, what I did click bait. But no, it's not really clicked baker's story. So here I go again. I anyway, I digress. As Daniel Radcliffe. Well knows there is no blueprint for starting young and working stuff out the longtime actor who got his very famous start as Harry Potter before. He even became a teenager newly opened up about the toll the level of attention took on him as ventured into adulthood in an interview for off camera with Sam Jones, the now twenty nine year old star reflected on his late teenage years, and how he had turned to alcohol to cope the fact that people are watching every move. He's almost thirty. Wow. I'm feeling kind of old now that's weird. Harry Potter's like thirty years old. Wow. There is an awareness that I really struggled with particularly in my late teens when I was going out to places for the first time where you would feel again, it could have been in my head, but you would feel watchman you went into a bar when you went into a pub Radcliffe explained, then in my case, the quickest way of forgetting about the fact that you were being watched what's to get very drunk. And then as you get very drunk you become aware that oh people are watching more now. Because now I'm getting very drunk. So I should probably drink more to nor that more. Because of his experiences. The star express empathy for fellow young stars like Justin Bieber who had been caught up in the tortoise antics. I'm always like, yeah. But you know, stunk could be super crazy for him right now as he actor elaborated it can be difficult to face normal, emotions, it's a young star because of the lifestyle you've achieved part of the thing is the expectation that you should just be delighted all the time Ratcliff said you have a great job, you're wealthy. You don't have a right to to ever feel sad or not to be excited about the whole thing all the time. And I think that's a pressure as well. And he is right. Just because someone's rich and famous isn't unit the happy, especially when the children a lot of times more damage is done to child stars versus the adult ones. So he is right about that. Fortunately, he figured out how to escape his copy that thanks to loved ones and ultimately himself. It took a few years and took a couple of attempts. He said during the interview, ultimately it was my own decision. I woke up one morning after a night going. This is probably. Not good right on right on the actor acknowledged that. He was perhaps trying to fulfill image of how he thought he should be when I think of the sort of chaos that I used to invite into my life. I'm really much happier now. And I think there was some part of me that was like actors have to to be like crazy cool drunks. I have to live up to this weird image that I have in my head of what is to be what it is to be a famous actor or something he said despite the challenges. However, he never regretted taking the job. Even at the lowest point, I still out my job so much. I love going to set. And there was never a day where my own crap censor. What effect how I was on set? He said there was never a point where I was like I wish this didn't happen to me. I wish I wasn't Harry Potter like that just didn't happen right on day Radcliffe. It's nice to hear someone appreciate and love the famous role that got them where they are today. You know, you brought a lot of joy to lot of kids heart anthem teenagers too. Okay. Yeah. Limited. I I saw all the movies. I did. And I liked them there. I said it don't judge me. But no seriously. Those books were good. Well, I didn't meet the books or saw the movies and the movies just got darker and more Graham, but it was very compelling. Harry went through issues on screen just. Yeah. Could stop. So I would love to see what grown Harry Potter is like today. So maybe one day, we'll get that. So we'll see only time will tell and now it's the next part of our entertainment podcast episode Jesse. It's just always perfect timing with these things he's looking to the side. And he's looking like, yeah. Whatever he's got that. Look the ball is in Jesse small. Let's court, and we're told the only way he can stave off a grand jury investigation is to meet with cops and somehow convinced him at the attack was real as we report a police urgently wanna follow up interview with Jesse this comes after Ola and enable on Sudharrao top police, they staged the so called attack jesse's behest even got paid for doing. We'll be spending way less time onset instead of working every day this week, we're told jesse's working Friday and possibly Thursday, and he won't be rehearsing. Less work for Jesse means more work for writers who are busy making edits in the past twenty four hours. We're told the scripts the script has undergone multiple revisions, we broke the story. And since this show is dedicated to the youth expressing their voice here. I go. She wrote Ricardo TC, and everyone Burberry it is beyond me. A look so ignorantly put together in a situation so poorly handled. Kenny finished her post by saying she was shame to have taken apart in the show. I did not post this to disrespect the designer or the brand. But to simply express an issue. I feel very passionate about she said suicide is not fashion it. It's not glamorous. Yeah. Well. Already priorities at that part. No there. It is. Mr. Moore thing with this. The other did not wear the hoodie. Buff gee-gee had eat in site. Also walked in Burberry show. Daniel Radcliffe, Vol. II
The. Today on happy said confused Daniel Radcliffe goes to heaven for his new comedy miracle workers. Hey, guys, I'm Josh Horowitz. Welcome to another edition of happy. Sad confused. I'm backing alive from the Sundance film festival guys. If you follow me on social media, you probably know by now that I was noxious tearing my way through Sundance seeing a ton of movies interviewing a ton of people and just trying to survive, although I will say the weather here in New York is way more brutal wasn't Sundance. So there's that. But yes, how to blast at Sundance my thirteenth Sundance in a row. I'm back every year. I love it. It was it was it was a trip. It was great. I saw like I said I'd probably between say it was like seventeen or eighteen different films. Some of my favorites included called the farewell starring Aquafina who had two films at the festival blinded by the white which is this delightful. Bruce Springsteen tinged story directed by the filmmaker behind bend like Beckham. It is heartwarming and sweet and filled with Springsteen songs. It's great. I saw a lot of a lot of them are gonna be hearing about later in the year late night from Mindy Kelly and starring Emma Thompson and Mindy is going to get a lot of attention big time outta leci-. With Davidson is gonna get a lot of attention. So I was able to catch up with a wad of a lot of quality things really interesting film called loose. That's going to be pretty provocative, and it's going to inspire. A lot of conversation waiter this year, it was a blast and conversations we talked to so. Oh, many great people. We've been putting out a lot of this conversations on MTV's social media on my social media and putting it out there. And and there's a ton more to come where we're we're we're basically I think flooding zone with extended interviews with all of the people I spoke to in the next week. So look out for if you wanted us follow the news YouTube or TV news is Twitter. My Twitter at all there. And it's conversations with. I mean army hammers AUSSIE beats lupita neon. Go. Josh Gad Aquafina. Jeff Goldblum, Chris O'Dowd? I mean, the list goes on and on it was it was an embarrassment of riches. So I hope you enjoyed and will enjoy my Sundance coverage live vicariously through me without all the exhaustion, and yeah, I hope you hope you check it out and enjoy as for this week's podcast, Mr. Daniel Radcliffe came back. He was one of the earliest guests on the podcast. He somebody. I've had the pleasure with talking to. I mean, probably dozens of times it's actually crazy to think about how many times I've done interviews with him here at film festivals sketches for after hours. He's he's always game. He's always down. He's the nicest guy in the room super talented super industrious, I've seen I think all have is theater. He's just the most gracious great guy can't say enough about him. And I'm so thrilled to say that his new series miracle workers that he came on to talk about is a delight. It is from a writer by name of Simon rich. And it's this high concept story of guardian angels. Daniel plays one of them, and is semi point. God who's this kind of fed up the deity that's just sort of like done with the earth. And it's it's high-concept and weird. But it's totally. It's it's hilarious. My sense of humor dance sense of humor. If you like my stuff, if you enjoy the comedy that I've done I think you're gonna enjoy miracle workers it starts on February twelfth on TBS highly recommended in this conversation was fantastic. As it is with, Dan. He's unguarded. He's honest. He's open. Yes. We talk, of course, Potter stuff and fantastic beasts and curse child. But he's so much more than that. We talk about sort of wear he came upon the manners that he's shows and the way he carries himself on an offset the choices he's made. The future projects. He's looking to do his newfound love of Star Wars is about comic book movies. There's a lot here. I think you'll enjoy this one as much as I did. I hope so at least as always remember to rate review and subscribe to happy second fuse on I tunes or however, you get your podcasts spread the good word. And I'll just leave it at that. And hope you enjoy this conversation with Mr. Daniel Radcliffe. Always pleased to catch up with my buddy, Mr. Daniel Radcliffe. It's good to see man as always having me as always. Sunday sundown on. I did. It was nice. It was it was the first time I've been to Sundance without the pressure of having to sell which was really really nice. No that that pressure falls on me. No money. But you know, it's it's the first time you thought into one of those weekends with not having to expect anything to come out of it. Which is nice. We just sort of went down there. And. Screened the show for for a bunch people eggs with screenings. Everyone's this. As accurate wasn't good idea. Actually, it was it was just a little more check everyone's kind of having breakfast in Washington. And then I hadn't actually seen the show at that point. And I didn't want to certainly didn't want to see it in a room for the first time in a room full of all the people who are watching it. And so I kind of like the intro and I went upstairs, and I was still reading my book. And then I it was also on the TV says and gradually sort of sort of gave up on my book was own. Okay. I'll watch it. Let's see. Well, they says, and I was actually. Yeah. It was I was really pleased with. So we'll get into it in a little bit. It's miracle workers. But I will say this. I was at Sundance, and as you know, like everybody they're so crazed. And when we look at wall to wall interviews, and I've seen tons of films. I knew I was gonna talk to you. When I got back, and I'd have time that I was like one night. I got off to the conduit was going to check it out. I totally got sucked. It. I watched the first six episodes in a row. The busiest timeframe volley every it's really I mean, I I I was on show whenever I want something for the first time. I'm always kinda like is this, okay? Is it good? I watched Elry liked it. Then I immediately like didn't trust my reaction. I was like, well, maybe with with Aaron my girlfriend, and she was like crying laughing and some of the second episode. So I was like, okay. No. I think we've done. All right. You're speaking my language with this one. I got a chance to meet Geraldine out there, which for holla. Yeah. Yes. Yes. Awesome. She seems as like one of those people that win over see. Around the time. We were filming tell like everything's going very well. And it was about like she's about to kind of break out. And it's just one of those things where you couldn't wish it on the more deserving person. Like, she. So she's so good first vote. He's funny. She's so good. She's so lovely as a person to work with onset. She's also, which is a quality. I really appreciate. She's breed these tough as nails like she she she very badly. Her harangue Cullum was during the last week of filming job on crutches and just like never complained. And like, you know, she's great you walked in here. Yours moaning about every I've been up since six this is I call back. It's power. I feel like there should be a disclaimer in this podcast. We're the only person that talks faster than me, perhaps is you. So he wants your podcast speed by like. Yeah. One Hof Speedo, whatever it is sometimes on accident. Go wise, Chris Hayes talking. Yet. I have been told I speak like, I'm at a catalogs and. Have you ever seen the Jeff Goldblum old Matt commercial slowed down one of those rate out happens all the time? But this was like one of those early viral videos where someone discovered if you like half speed old Jeff Goldblum apple commercials. It's just the most entertaining thing. Money highly recommend. Okay. Well, I'm doing my evening. Have you seen the will Ferrell bear adverts? Oh, I don't know if other local ones, right? Right. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Somebody made me aware. That is the best idea. And why more companies don't just like let people just go to town with product. I mean, it's just the first one where he's just like lying in a farm is like I have no idea how I. The good he might have him for so many reasons, but like he's somebody who just revels in these lake. It's like this almost often guard experimental comedy even where he's at today. Like he did that lifetime movie a couple years ago. It was just which everyone like what was going to be a joke. But actually was like quit strength toast, really wanted just to do a big time movie. Yeah. Why no do feel he's one? He's like at this stage in his career, which like a few people get to which is on what you can do mckellan in England just went on Coronation Street. He didn't all Coronation Street was one of soaps like why? No. And then he played I think he did. He's done like Dame Dame in in the pantomime at the ROY the old Vic few years. Yeah. It's just I love I love stuff like that. And and will Farrell and Adam k just like, please do more. We'll be lot more fun. Have you seen vice it? Yes. I love. The blaze it divisive. Can you haven't really both reading? It was it was on my top came in. I love I think it was sympathizing. Cheney was like didn't find out was the case. I don't think that's the case. I think it was more. I think people thought it was too on the nose actually that. It was not do enough. I'm doing devil's advocate for it. And I think also the form I think people are stuck like look McKay in big short in this. He's like he's fucking with the form. He's totally like not going straight bio pic route, which I love. But I think that some people feels messy he doesn't know what he's doing. I was just like no, this is like, no, I think you can only make those kind of jokes. If you know exactly what you're doing. You know, the credits rolling hoffy through the film. I lost my mind favorite moments. All for the tie. And it goes hall. All the commitment to twenty seconds. It's like. Host list. It's so good. I was just. Yeah. I was I was blown. I've read Jane mayors book, the dockside kind of not long ago, and if that book works, the film, amazing companion piece to that book and just and seeing how they did stuff. Like, the the alpha Molina saying why you suddenly breeze through the one brilliant concise seen can get a real sense of like older shit. These guys were doing I mean, but in a really fun crazy way. No, I I think that's probably my my favorite favorite film of this. Yeah. Have you been going through the screeners have been caught up on some stone? Few of not as many as I should've. I'm done. Well. As I always do better on documentaries that I do on any of the ages. What did you like the dockside? I mean this year, I love three identical strangers Amish. I was on the mobile that Mr. Rojas didn't that's bizarre because I to me strangers. It's an amazing story. It's really well Nate as well. Right. If it hadn't been well-made, a still probably would have really been into stories just insane, right. Mr. does somebody growing hanging England. I have no relation to him the film started. And I was like just couldn't go really doc the British TV era who's the guy that turned into? All those like older guys that had the thing in kids TV like that in England that would be adult movie. And then I just watch it and it made me care about this. I have no concept of really, and it was just like, it's an amazing. He may now 'cause thank him because he's the only human being that. I think probably could these ads beloved as Mr. Otis. But yeah, no. So it was it was it's been do you feel like he's been a really cool. I'm glad that Black Panther is being recognized in its pro. Yes. Very good as well. Did you watch on the dockside? Have you watched either of the fire ducks? I'm fascinated by that. I mean, I it is such a testament to how like. You know? Being white, dude. Feddie good Toko. We'll get you so far, but not all the way get you to the point where you can really cut publicly. That's thinking about our American political system. And I'm not sure true. But in the happening. Happen sit in the same way. Like, he's got in there and shit show. Ladies to say like he. That's right. Absolutely. But I think that was the thing to me. But which I mean, and there was so many moments that I was just like what is it is it is hall to a couple of those people where when one goes on the plane like play this first class. Yeah. I don't feel sorry. I'm sorry. I'm kinda glad things about our within about it. Also, I was watching going with lucky. No one died. We've been having a medical emergency that no one got drunk and fell in the water like they are spectacularly lucky. And I went to that is really the driver when they're all getting into the city, and the driver of the bus is Kaley reveling in the fact that he's telling these young hipsters, he's a FOX. They pull over to see the FEMA tents and go gold. Just your. So I joined those enjoyed those by the time, I was get through the second doc. I did both. Who I I was bowing only intending on doing one of them that I even ask them Twitter, which should I see and I had heard who's better. And indeed I liked who more. But after like one of them, and after both those like, I could watch us making a murderer style. Yeah. I could be in that little the ever. I wanna see every meeting that Billy was in because you just go. How did you get this money people? And it's also going to be a great like, I'm sure someone's making narrative fiction. Guessing game who's gonna play Billy at this point. I mean, that's the thing segment fallen too old will be has kind of looked. Not too old. So as we take this. We're going to push us out immediately. The biggest football of the year is this weekend news on your head with you on the Tom Brady thing. I dislike him only because he doesn't also eat tomatoes. I don't understand person that just decides Charlie tomatoes blanket tomatoes catch up no part of his diet. Special. I this thing I see as soon as I made that Komen for those you don't know it made some comment about Tom Brady having a maga- and his locker and as soon as I made it I was like idiots. Said something and it's like, oh, I'm just like, oh that's going to get picked up. It was like it was the sun. We don't the bumped of Jews and hoped up on coffee and just getting flip through my get away. What have you done? Nope. Because in any way that I should just make the point Monja was all used to be literally obsessed with Tom Brady the Brady six fanny when he hasn't watched mazing suppose documentary about how rough it is being athlete, and Frankie amazing. Tom Brady story is. So you know, I wash down I met him once and was able to tell him I've just like find you'll story someone's beret and all of that's true. Which is why I was very disappointed when like, you know, he picks teen deaths dot. And and so, you know, it's it's yeah. It is was one of the I also, but aside from that like, it's more. The the patriots are just the patriots now. Manchester United in the nineteen ninety s just to good and been for too long and for this year to have been like so many cool teams. And so I'm going to exciting young teams for just all to end in. Another patriots victory is just very anti-climactic. I'm sorry, Boston sports fans. You've had plenty of championships. Don't feel sorry. 'cause like I grew up and still I'm a huge Yankees fan. And I would always say like, I've course grew up in the one ear when the did it win like fifteen years without winning a World Series. Like the only hole in their thing was like childhoods on like, I'm not the home. I actually went through the dark times too. But yes, so I'm here. So right now what what what's going to occupy your brain with fantasy football over the fifteen percent of your brain. That's been obsessed with fantasy football what he fill it. Read again, I start reading. You know, I read all start talking girlfriend again friends. Oh, God ship downs. Megan. But no, I've I've always. Yeah. I mean, I found this was a dissolve very very, but it was so bad that it became funny in one of the time ended up one in ten in one one and how many one one game and my girlfriend almost one that lake. So we had completely symmetric symmetrical seasons in she ended up with one loss. And I ended up with one win. And then the other league that I mean, I had the second highest points total in the league but ended up finishing eighth because I played a person the highest score in the week. I think something like six weeks out of the routine or whatever it was. So, you know, but I keep early or do you start as you're allowed to econ keep you first round pick. But you can. Do you lost keeper do you have other actor Francis? Dane in the early days no longer in the league Dane has a young child now. And so I think I think was the cater football. They're all some who. Any other I stumbled onto this amazing all-star legal Blake apparently every big marvel actor are in the same league together found out that Chris Evans is one like the last two years at it's like, Evans and Pratt and Anthony Mackie. I know the boby kind of all I just did play together. He's in a league with like, Jon Hamm and pull rod and and they had like a big fantasy draft. Like, yeah, they're in like, a real cool guy. Comedy drama. So going back since we have some time with let's talk a little bit about curious. Okay. So. Okay. So like. I'm always struck by we've known each other for a while. From the start. You've been like most gracious persons like me and everybody on a shoot you come in. You introduce yourself to everybody. It's organic it doesn't he'll force at all. I'm curiously where that came from like was that something you saw from the electri- on the on the Potter set at all. I mean, I remember hearing story on the first film from an ADP. Michael Stevenson, who's kind of a legend in the bridge film industry that truly you could have three hundred extras, we'll into the great hall. He will know and free name on the way out that he remembered my he had worked on a film that my mum had cost ten five six years before. I go cost imports of she'd visited set for one day when we came into my audition, he remembered her and remembered her name like he's just an amazing. But he told me a story about Michael Cain very early on. That was he was like, you know, when Michael comes onto set by the ended up first day, he'll know everyone's name injuries himself. And I always know dot start sounds like a good way to be. And I think it's also honestly like if I'm being. To be Frank light. It comes partially from a a knowledge the. The reputation that Charles Dawes have the assumption. That people make about Johnson is that we're going to be decks. So that like every time like a lot of my energy is just like goes into communicating with respect to person that I've not what they expect me to Bama. And also the knowledge that the small smallest dick move. The smallest moment will be a story that row and become a reputation, and I it does come from very genuine. I don't know how actors who all horrible do the job. We'll have fun or why they do it like walking onto a films that people. You know hate you must really suck. Like, I don't know why anyone chooses to live like that. So. Yeah. And I just I think as an actor you when you're young, and you can you get a sense of actually like how profoundly your mood and. Behavior can affect the day and affect everyone's day. Always seemed like a really important thing too. Yeah. To try and create and as an actor leader, John say, you can be Paul of making of helping everyone to have a nice time it to be good place to work. And you know, it's really important that is a thing that I hadn't even thought of because I talked to a lot of people over the years about sort of that nature of setting the tone, your number one on the call sheet and setting the tone. But when your ten eleven shell what you were and you were number one of the calls sheet. That's that's a lot to put on a young person. Be like, okay, I'm going to set the tone like going through puberty and being shit. I didn't I never felt like at the time. Like, oh, it was put to me in those terms. So I didn't feel that pressure. I think what that was one of the things that Chris. Columbus was amazing on those films was was getting us all infuse and and excited to be there every day, and but also focused and concentrating on the work. And yet, and I think it was I think it was probably compensation. My parents had with fairly early on you do you do set the tone, and and it's okay to if you're having a bad day, you can have it by day. But don't let that spill over onto other people onto that word. So yeah, I think it's a real is actually a real privilege. If you get to set the tone on a set because you get to make the set the kind of set you want to work on on wanna work on set where everyone's having fun. But we're also like getting stuff done focus when I'm in that position to do that. It's it's it's a real yes budget. So did you ever go through at a mattress face? Like was there known set like not not in? I don't think. So I mean, the very wealthy people that disagree with me on. But I think generally speaking like, I'm sure it was irritating. Stupid teenage boys. I'm point more to just being teenage boy to do too. I'm curious like was ignorance of bliss when you were a kid working with those like, great, esteemed actors, those long resumes. Like, you probably didn't know who Richard Harris was or big our new everyone else was reacting like, I really should. But I didn't know myself. I went up to I always maintained the reason Maggie Smith enjoys may was when I first met how when I was nine. I hope she was Dame. Oh day who she was. So I just pulled up to her Infos. And I said it was Jewish call you Dane, and she was like. You know? And I think we did. But I don't think. Yeah. Your ignorance is bliss 'cause I was just going up to the first place. And I remember being like a wo- Gary Oldman was that because that was old enough to some of his fellow. And like I knew he was and that was one of the first times I was really like be freaked out to meet somebody. But yet Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, those amazing Hoskins David Copperfield of these amazing like find who you was Rickman intimidating because like I did I did one of the privileged when the last conversations with him. And he was you know, I've talked to everybody and like he was. Yeah. It gives them too many guys. Yes. So smart, so so small and also like Alan had voice. And so there's a lot of time people thought like I'd had that voice any very dry sense of humor. So sometimes people would think like, oh, he hates me. But like actually he really didn't how I remember. Alan took me and. Ritchie Griffiths alpha Dinna ones off to echoes. And it was the first time the sort of been with him as an adult on the partisan. Does late seeing this man who has been quite intimidating for my life. Suddenly become be vulnerable. Funny and self deprecating only sings enemy. Hey. The council emphasize enough. How I went to his his memorials. I was in London at the the amazing theme that developed that was just what supporter of younger actors. He was there was so many young actors that who he had taken time out to go and see their shows. I mean, he he so every every piece of the three evid he cut short his holiday in Canada, Tacoma, sea Equis, and then to me out dinner with an gave me late notes. But like you talk to me about the show and helping it was fair way into the run at that point. I was struggling some things, and he was very helpful. And you know, he didn't need to do that. And he didn't I don't know how he had the time to be as supportive of so many act as he did and direct and right and being amazing actor. Aptly intimidate for the first sort of taking the first three films. I think that was also the time when to be fed to all the old rock just like they didn't know we were going to be around for the whole series. Like, they didn't even know where they think it was on the third film had some like proper one on one scenes together for the first time that he really started treating me differently and more grown-up, I can't say from personal spiracy. Always spoke seemingly prideful and happy with you on a member like that conversation. He probably wasn't his Cup of tea. But he if you remember that sketch. We did you me. And Dane there was like a little cameo that Allan taped that we put into the schedule. Wouldn't have done for many cool. Well, thank you. Let's let's talk a little bit about a miracle workers. I mean, we've talked before about this the post Potter career. And how you've charted this amazing path that's been very unique to you and reflected your aesthetic and sense of humor, and this one feels like I said, it's right up. My alley. It's clearly right up. Your alley. Talk to me a little bit about it's the right? It's where it starts with the writer in this city. So so this is a miracle is based on a book called what in God's name, which you should all read. It's fantastic. And funny and berry. And I read this book McGovern. Tony owns his book. And I've read this amazing. And I was able to get a meeting with Simon and I said to him if you ever do anything with this. I really don't and what capacity though, I woke on this by just want to be involved. And you know, he he could've turned around and said, yeah, we're doing it on the radio. And I would've been like. Yeah. Great. I am in and. Yes. So I had that conversation with him. And then about a year later, he phoned me talking about how he would like to do it as TV's Aries. And and how he would if we're lucky enough to get a second series. It would be an anthology series. Now, the thing that was amazing about me was that I wanted to do Merican TV full sometime, but standard contracts seven years. And so I that was no way I was going to sign on to something for that long again and get locked into something for that long. Again. And so when this came along, and he was the writing amazing and this series itself. Amazing, but TBS had given Simon Cobb launch to then change the story next. You have new setting you store, and you complete like American horror story, but kind of comedy that. So basically, I wound up in a situation where I just get to do a new some enrich product every year, which to me is Simon's one of the most talented writers I've ever worked with. I think probably was talented around. And he. Yeah. I mean, he's. He managed in this series on and lots of his work. He just creates this amazing tone that is both incredibly dock and has a real edge to it in terms of the comedy. There's a hell of a body count in this era. It starts with the premise earth is not worth keeping around. And right. So decides to blow up the in the first episode very early on in the first half of the rest of the series, either trying to convince him not to or trying to in fact, just save the so as a consequence of that, you know, we're in heaven, so we're dealing with the running of the so when something goes wrong people die mice Hindley you launch amounts of them. Sometimes. And so that was so he manages to have this world that exists and can happen. But also, it just be so incredibly sweet and Paul felt an earnest and full of like, a real kindness and a real love for human beings in Ola chaotic messy foams, and yeah, I just think that was a unique tone and style, and it's something that I I love comedy. I don't particularly like like main comedy. And so yeah, that was just something. I don't know what I'm going to get to to Oakland someone that again. It's all I dived in and then. Yeah. Probably about a year off to that conversation. We started filming and just as a little bit more of the premise you. But you basically you generally in our or guardian angels as it were kind of you specialize in these kind of Monday tasks, you're not into the. Yeah. I work in the department of onset pres-, which is a lot less of a an important Oakland department than we would like to think it is. And Craig is somebody who was so terrified of failure that he has scaled back his ambitions to only achieve to only consist of the things he knows he can't achieve such as finding somebody's lost keys or finding somebody's loss gloves really finding small things is the bulk of my actively and Geraldine character lies comes in and has real actual ambition and wants to change the world. And I'm kind of trying will slow down. You're gonna mess things up. We we're gonna be getting crazy with how many people people helping so hood journey is one of getting me metoo. Grow up have basically, and my journey is is one of sort of raining her in slightly from a mall, reckless tendencies. I was thinking about that. I was hearing your actual voice in this one. I feel it generally speaking. I maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm wrong. I would have to go to resume, but like post Potter like most of your work. You're does a lot of American accents. Yeah. Age maybe suppose, you see meal. Staying American and yet. No, I do I seem to connects a little time. I'm learning new wanted to let South African which is fun. And did Isreaeli for film. If I never do that again, that'd be great. I just felt like I was I say this just fine. Because I want to put it into people's heads because they say 'cause I stay in the accent all day when I'm on. I'm in the accent all the time and Americans very easy to do. It doesn't feel like a big thing when I was in his early. I felt like I was doing Bod borat thing the whole day, and it was out of how many Israelis very complimentary about my eyes, and we're very grateful. But it's so fall from how I could never like sound natural to me was being held for doctor 'cause yourself so self conscious because the end. This is like the is you say self consciousness is the enemy of acting. So as much as you can stop yourself from thinking about yourself better. So eventually, I sort of I was able to just go like I'm going to sound sound like wrong planet is very I've got a shelter. And so yeah. But yeah, it is. It's actually like this this character in this show is he's like, I am no, thankfully as pathetically scared of everything. But I, you know, doesn't Novus energy in which is very much emanating from my own my own self. So it was this. Character is probably more. Me in the way. He speaks the way. He is that all other characters. We haven't even mentioned also the third. There's a great ensemble. But Steve boo Shammy said semi Botha fine. I asked him Bush's. He said it's both in my head. It was calm. But you must have one thirty years of my life. I said show me. And then I heard I thought I heard him or someone say semi. But he also says that it's fine say we Shammy maybe just being too nice. Yeah. Know he was I mean, he Steve is just to be on. It's always been my experience the people who. Really good and have been really good for reedy long time. Great. It's very radd. The those at the trouble, someone's it's no the people that kind of in and out of the saddle of the work Fain yet. That tricky Steve is lovely Steve one points. Deep was wondering. Collar and Sony's in the show. His parents were set and Steve Harney saw them wandering around lost. And we have a big said that we're only walked over to them and sort of guide in the back to set, and then what to into crossovers and was lecturing with him. And then later they tend to carry that he showed us round. And he's he's the lead to the show playing goes deep. Oh, he's just he's a lovely lovely, man. And and yeah, we were. I mean, just crazily lucky to get him. Yeah. When you get when you get someone like that, you're like, okay. This is gonna work. Yeah. Really what you will about are you absolutely about scanning fog. I mean, I'm I'm most of the movies guy. I do I love them. But what's your top Coen brothers movie or two? Big lebowski is going to be up. I love oh, brother all that. But I haven't watched I be the first one I saw. So that was very that varying grain d-. What else? I mean. You know fog. Oh, sure. Yeah. Sars, you know. Estimate since it came out years goes inside Lewin Davis that one gets better. And better. I haven't seen that one of them. Do that though. I feel like a lot of them. I mean, it's the market. A great film is obviously stand tests time, but like their films just yet. The Man Who Wasn't that. When I read into reading. Yeah. Amazing. We also wanna mention congrats see on my span of a fact cherry Jones about volley. When we end run in a play. Are you like ready or do you like do you do you like look towards the finish line? Do you like kind of know when you're kind of like, I'm ready for the next thing. Yeah. It varies from play to play end depends. How long run is like I did a cycle privacy, which we did four weeks of previews and four weeks performances. And we got to the end, and it was like, oh, jeez. That's over. I missed that this one I've got to be honest. I was ready. I was ready for it. It was great. We had a fantastic time. But I think by the end all of us were like cool. We've done it done. It was been really good. And now it was the perfect length of run for us. There is a you will ways the it was goes through always the same kind of cycled amount of war. Generally. My what length thrown is which is like, you know, just get through hustle, and then terra an adrenalin fair just rule you through preview and in a kind of good exciting way. Then it's like that sort of the first hall to two. Of the Ron, and then there's like a little couple of weeks while you're just like with the end. Because once you have said the same line, and any of the reason than you used to even though it is the experiences the same for an audience whether that hopefully coming in week one week nine you by the time, you get to nine you have said those lines so many times that will just be moments that you no longer believe yourself in even if it comes across as real to an ordinance I would think that's also exacerbated on something like a like had a succeed that was a long run. Right succeed was we did. I did for eleven months, and that that was it's interesting. It's so much harder. Doing like a musical like that than it is doing like a show like cripple of Inishmaan acquis. Because if you're having a great day, you know, I can make myself that I can think about some stuff and get into a dog place. If you having shit day and you'll doing a bright and breezy musical getting up to that place. Like, okay, guys, I'm gonna sing songs as that. Was that was I do I maintained that doing a doing a musical? Like the hardest world you can do as an active calorie to you're like a marathon runner. It was it was really good. And I loved it. And I there is something incredibly bonding about being. Doing musically people. I think I've probably got more or as many friends of that job than of any during the with them. Screw up with each other. And you know, you you you have you done this back, and that was that was actually the real joy of lifespan as well was becoming a kind of like some weird super organism with cherry and Bobby Webb will just bury connected. The show was good. And when when it was like a good performance at night, you really felt like while we all one wheel moving as one thing. Yes. Really exciting thing to fail. Do do you consume a lot of like theater off? So you can't while you're in a production. Do the rest of the time. I don't if I have a play coming up. Yeah. If I'm in one bogey, sometimes we'd go and see like two plays on his day off. I don't I don't know how you will doing this a friend who's like, I don't care about my friends. So. The. One thing. I just your buddy, Paul Daino and true. As you can imagine. Yeah. That's that is a tough play. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Switching roles. Did not. John C Reilly Hoffman that was epoch too. Yeah. I don't washing play when I'm about to be one owner Russell I just saying that being like, I should be learning. My lines. I be doing this. I get so nervous. And but but yeah, I've seen reasoning ferry the other day, and it was I mean, it's a. I mean, it's a Serie that some really amazing. Also, I mean, the fact that they've been thinking you cost is going to come in like a few weeks. But like those guys have been doing that show for two years since Lund mandate is particularly they're all doings. Amazing. But like really really bad. I mean, I don't know the lead actresses name the goal. He plays the main actors, honestly don't know how she's finding those levels of emotion and intensity to two years of doing that really really like impressive around cheese mazing, very cool. That's definitely when they announced the replacement casts in they're like, also, it's like Brian D'Arcy James like some really likely, really. Although Patty Constantine is pretty talented himself. Is is pretty amazing. I mean. Yeah. Deadman's choose at monsters for anyone who hasn't borscht is. Oh, yeah. Okay. It's a him him and Toby Cavill, shine meadows film is like it's a really. Yeah. I mean, it's one of those homes again have more than Sosa. Tina what I watched it when I was young. I was like this is this is this film is on. Really? Yes. Very good. One of those guys that I've always like, I always piqued by what he's doing. I feel like I'm surprised that hasn't. I mean, he's obviously note, but like the next level is alluding him. I talked about this. You haven't seen for obvious reasons? It's a weird. It's a brand to go there. And I would just be saying that thinking that everyone would be watching me for my reactions to the show, and maybe they wouldn't be but I just to. I think size. I'm I'm yeah. I'm a bit. I met the director. Okay. And then a few months, so I was able to apologize to him. Book. Still nice Bill set to him. Do you know what happens in curious just as like someone that's been obviously, the guy that franchise of like what happens to your character last, and I've heard bits and pieces of Lavigne's to him. But I guess now maybe his bad. Maybe I should have been more curious. I I haven't been particularly I'm just. I I think it's probably because in my mind, I'm like, I don't wanna find out one day. It's going to get through to me. It's going to get through to me like something. I haven't been seeking it out. Were you surprised to find out that young Dumbledore was actually the super hot Jude law all the time? No, particularly, you know, pretty help. No, I think I I was very very happy that costs judo Roosevelt one of those should've in the series. We should have had. How was that? Yeah. It's nice. It's nice. The he is I don't do something lovely about. Him playing that guards over and and sort of, you know, the train pas from Michael to him is very he's I don't know if you've had a chance to see it. But he's he's exceptional. That one was the first one that I was like beast came out. I was like, no waited. This is great this try to try to the new like, okay? Turf. What are you going to be? That was the first time we're Adam being oh that is kind of wit. So again, we've talked so many times about sort of like how you've capitalize in a very smart way. In terms of the cash that you had in your Harry Potter years on these kind of unique projects post Potter. Do you think like it's ever cost you a role? Do you feel like sometimes it's short too much Ellen show? I don't know which ones, but I'm sure has think like maybe have been told once by somebody that they just they they wanted to. I think the way they put it was actually slightly more. And I say I get a saying that we we want somebody that doesn't have back age. We know that the audience isn't coming into if you for instance, if you'll playing a character who like the point of him is that he is very anonymous. And no one case who he is. Then I can see why direct like I personally think I'm that would still work and I can play that. But I also totally cedar point of view of being don't want us famous person playing this like I get that. But no, it don't so to my knowledge. And I also think there's an interesting thing where is. You know, if hall directors in the world. So me as hype trim like, well, that's all he's going to be. And I don't I don't want him. I don't want that by touching my film. That was another the other hall direct is of attitude towards it. Which is I want to be the one to reinvent. Yes. With those preconceptions. During the exciting. So I was kind of like a soon as I keyed into that. And that's doing it was a big pile of that. Because that made everybody go he's gonna do. He's far. His gonna put himself. I think I've been told director since that was eating if they didn't see it that was kind of make them sit up and take notice which is nice. But yeah, I feel like. Yeah. I mean, definitely don't Keates in kitty darlings very excited like get his hands on me. Like do the first things since putter. And yeah, I think probably something to in. This guy's an those are so where are you at right now in terms of like, you talked about the notion of not wanting to long-term series, like the people of this is an anthology kind of thing where you at in terms of films like are you more or less open to kind of ongoing franchises, which is like the bread and butter of the film industry right now. Yeah, you're right. Yeah. I'm totally open to it. But it just has to be like a really good script. And I'm I, you know, I don't like to disparagingly about the CJ system. It's just it's just a reality of the world. We're in that people feel more comfortable taking risks when there's less money involved. So the the world wallet is much harder to get things made when you us. Tesla and getting the made their you know, you will have more John's to be kind of slightly more venture. But no do franchise again a second. If I loved it like would have no problems doing that are multi role if possible so I have time to do other. But. Yeah, absolutely. Are you you mentioned one ready? I was going to say any of them are things doing it for your Black Panther panther. It was great. I mean, I wanna see deadpool is like one of my favorites. I think the guys you write to remaining I met with them a couple of times about something ages ago. Smart is so small they so funny. The credit sequence in not in movie, the first one does the real heroes here. So good. Tip. It was what do they call rials? Goats perfect idiot with he was. Well, it's like even back to Adam McKay. It's like, it's the form. It's just lazy. Why why it's a movie you can do you like it doesn't have to be naturalistic, right? And so yeah, I loved is yet Black Panther and dental probably might too late favorite once. I'm C like, and you will probably notice that those are the ones which require the least amount of information about the rest of the franchise because I haven't like I so all behind. I don't know. I know cows in America and right thorough people get into anything. Yes. And doing all stole move because tool film was incredible. You'll love it. You know, your sense of humor. You'll what we do in the shadows is one of my favorite comedies in recent years. So I I. Ted. The. You'll it'll take some time to catch up on the. But we know it's possible. Because again, I've known you enough to know you pre Star Wars love and host Star Wars love. Yeah. You there? How far on the pendulum have you swum in the other direction? Now, have you seen them all the Star Wars films seen all the originals? I have seen the re boot the prequels or equal. I've seen minutes because minutes was the first one I still when I was ten and I felt like this is giants. Thanks. This. No. Yes. So I was very into that. And then going into the first rate the plus three hour amazing. They really all. It was so interesting toward something that you've literally heard hyped your entire life, actually. And especially in terms of like what's fascinating about those shows like how they shoot action like they all it's all about the characters. Like, it's about my seven is like close ups on actors, do and you will following those stories within those action sequences yet. Yeah. I mean, it's the emotion in those lightsaber fights it's like five anniversary of the job. I it's like a fully like immersive. You're like so invested. I was I was really bone away by them. And I loved full wake haven't seen. Yet. Which was amazing. I know problems. Law debt so much. Yeah. Don't. Yeah. Well, you're not on Twitter. But like don't say anything that jet. I or or Batman these are the two most of ice of topics apparently upset of Donald Trump, which Batman all the fans are very very extreme. So they saying that like Ben Affleck no-good ochre style good the DC fans defend like Zach Snyder film, the Batman versus superman injustice league earns isn't that there's a thing called the Snyder cut this version of Justice league those directed by him before he had to leave. It's a whole thing. You don't want any part of. This is night. Trust me. You don't need to get everybody. But yeah, I I was less into rogue one. But just didn't. I think maybe I knew enough of them Thala g going into it. You get asthma out of as other people got it. I got it. I know you have to run the what's got guns. Can Kimba sounds crazy. It's it is crazy. That's by. Young New Zealand film. Mike. Cool Jason Lee Houten who literally I read this script, which is like some kind of crazy action comedy fable about a guy who after a series of horrible encounters wakes up one morning with guns surgically attached to his hands. Who's going say? Making these natural rubies. Shake it out. No. So I so. Yes. So I. Honestly this team that sold it to me was like ten pages in where he asked to go to the toilet. There is I think lawing was something like Bom squads on his Catholic. I just I I read that. And I was like, yeah. I'm in a fully utilizing, you'll premise have gone hands. I am in. Living up to the promise of this concept. Do I actually I'm rates and Samara weaving? Eight I think it could just be really one of those films that like hopefully that catches people's imagination in the way this mon- found audience, that's one of hoping guns again, bows. Well, you're acting grape filmography of bizarre wonderful idiosyncratic films, man. You know, I'm there for all of them. And I love that even the small part of making weird shit with over years, certainly, but I was watching miracle workers psycho. Yeah. Like, I'm seeing the same kind of like a reverence that we've done nurse do quizzes and all that stuff. And I'd like those the other times that you've seen me like being very much me. So that probably does feel like the tool that I? Yeah. It's going to be a struggle to stop working in comedy. It's really it's doing comedies just somewhat. It's the best run. Yeah. It's the best on there for you. Anytime you wanted to make shit. You've got a lot of fans in the weird shit world. It's broadcast live on my YouTube channel, and it becomes a podcast almost immediately afterwards. So sign up. Thanks to star burns audio for making it possible. It's a terrific show. We take your calls. We talk about whatever you want. And we respect you. And we we love listening to your thoughts. It's a lot of good. It's a lot of fun. And we have Doug loosen hop. DJ? Doug pound with me. It's a show that you're gonna wanna explore. It's a show you're gonna wanna share your family and your friends and pass along your goal. I think he's going to join it as well. A show in a world where every conversation is about what movie or TV show. You just see? This is never seen it. Comedians, rewriting famous movies and TV shows. They've never seen. Hey, everybody. This has never seen it. I'm your host Kyle. As this is the podcast where I have comedians rewrite famous movies and TV shows they've never seen before. This is my favorite part of the show where two people I've been friends with for years. Watch me do something sincere. I rambled through today, we are joined and we have a script written four a maybe the most famous thing we've ever done on the show, maybe the most famous movie franchise, it's up there. We're joined by the co host of great listening experience with Jo's Zimmerman a podcast where Joe Zimmerman and other wonderful comedian goes on an infinite quest for knowledge and power and is joined by his loveliest. He's getting assistance from his Butler on this podcast, Tom Cal. Hi, yes. I'm the Butler hellos. And so I want you to explain it a little bit better than I did. I think I gave a bylined good. But give me like an example. What is Joe learn you gave a byline very good? Kyle byline good Josie woman is a. Hello audience, by the way. Joe's lumen is a hilarious comedian, but he lacks knowledge in certain areas. So he's trying to gain infinite knowledge like a hero in a movie or a book and with slowly episode by episode just knocking off areas of knowledge that he's ignorant off. So I would just so you made surreal strides in Rhode recently. He read the denial of death crate. Yogi and text about dealing with one's own mortality. So he's nailed that. He's not denying death anymore. Doesn't accountable. That's good that he until that podcast came out thought. He would never die. Yeah. Sadly wrestling with David it. Well, frankly. He is he fled to Sunnyvale California for the weekend. Where everyone thinks they will never die. Absolutely. He bought a corvette. And Tom, Tom. You have written for us in. You have never seen any movie from the Harry Potter franchise. That is correct. I've never seen a single fill. I've never read a single one of the books. I am ignorant almost entirely of Harry Potter verse sit here you are faking. An accent, mocking them constantly. I'm actually from Chattanooga. And before we get too far into we're also joined by a co host of the good the dead and the ugly podcast a podcast where three fine young gentlemen, have different female guests on every week. And she helps them become better men. This is Casey James twinkle every doing good whatever's good to be here. Quixotic Butler, you said quixotic roller, Tom. It means that kind of combination of unique and eccentric. Dr. What is Amy? What's what is example mean? Can you give me a thing? That describes what example. Get your podcast such a good idea so gels. Mcdonagh was. Yeah. Really wish. I didn't spend the whole getting I wish it it's been whole beginning of the podcast giving people better things to do. Well, that's very kind of both of you. And here's the thing in the full fact of the show, we're always looking for an expert to fill in Joe's blank spaces. And we need both of you. You know, my one thing I know about oh rats. I wish you couldn't guess it. Immediately. Incredible. I thought for a second guess was meth. I it's going to be issuing shoeing. Yeah. That's my. So Tom before we get to four so Casey. What's your what are you? We'll get to Casey actually, 'cause I know your specific Harry Potter expertise that you do have dank you you have some real life job experience in the Harry Potter universe. HBU, tom. You are from England. Correct. JK Rowling has also from England, correct? Would give me a geography low down. Do you know where she's from? I can pull it up. If you want. The bottom bit. I think the bottom off. Yeah, absolutely show. She is yet. Trash that doesn't sound like a place. It is a commuter town and civil parish in south Gleason, star schools, Tertia satisfy. Sure, okay. So we're talking about two different places in the middle bit. The middle bit. She's kind of from the middle of the so this is put a she is one of the ten most famous. English people in the world yet probably got the Queen. You've got couple of footballers, and I don't mean to just immediately be projecting because of the kinship of an of a fellow country person. But it's Harry Potter is one of the biggest things ever. Yes. It is very very big. And it's very big in the UK to translate them to whatever language you guys have their. No, it's dubbed. Okay. Yeah. They got a bunch of Italians in. If anyone listens to stay. No, there's very rarely do we do a whole episode without someone doing a mocking Italian accent for something. Good. They they've had it too. Good too long, the Italian. Yeah. I I mean, I've always going to the reason why I've always resented it. And resisted watching any of the things is because it did feel like it was just a way to Twee interpretation of English culture. Somehow. It was almost like it was kind of black facing us a little bit. So okay. So let's let's deconstruct this a little bit because it's also about a completely fictional existence. So you're saying the black facing of English people is wizards. Yes. Okay. We're all magical people who live in stone so close, but sort of like a similar thing to how the Lord of the rings was pushed I mean Lord of the rings does not take place in a real place. But that's what people associate with New Zealand that right, yucca, real quick to find Twee. Tweet. That's a great. It's like it's like a quick sonic version examples, I love it. I think tween this is a kind of cutesy poo poo, mythical. That's what I would call tweeden unicorn. Yeah, it's like a Lisa Frank. Cock need things talk need is like a chimney sweep Jimmy sweet excellent notable, good example. So it's like a very cartoony example of an impression, I guess is what I would call it a tweet like childish, cartoonish example. Okay. I got it. It's it's a fun game to talk a little bit Casey Casey will like to be taking an SAT. What is an s come on? I did well messages. So what? So this is because Harry Potter's very much. He is my age, and you're only if couple years older than this is very much, our we're all within three or four years of each other. You mean, the actor Daniel Radcliffe? No, I mean, the actual character aging in the series. He ages in the series, and everyone is a different year in his school. Oh, that's great and pretty good. Maybe check him out. I will I would say this is. Usually something we talk about later. Maybe after I would say there is no and people are not gonna like this. There's no reason for you to read the books. Okay. Good just watch the movies. Alright. This thing happened. And I talked about this on this podcast a lot. This thing happened with the Harry Potter movies where they cast it kids who looked like them. And then they got lucky, and they all ended up being gorgeous and good at acting see the actors age even more than the characters. Right because it doesn't take a year to shoot and put out a movie these things are coming out like every three or four years. I have a fun fact for you, the when they were costing the movies. They went across the entire nation. I still lived in the UK at the time, and they went across the tiny to find the right people. And of course, the one of them's Jinja, that's why no more than my right head. And then a kid who in my brother's year in school. He was down to the loss. Three sofa like a month. He was king of the school. Yeah. Shit because I mean the books I imagine especially in. The UK where like everyone this book is in everyone's bag, especially if what are the fourteen for some age like that like eleven to fourteen the world was like he's going to get it. He's gonna get any so good. He's gonna get it. Maybe didn't get back to school one day just walk in and put a step down. Then immediately get bullied because he's read exactly what did he what is he doing? Now is he dead? No. He what is dead. Not Maki breath warm. He he is. Badminton is dead. All right thought that was his name. Yes. He he became a Taylor and and worked on Savile row like the fancy suit making district. Oh, yeah. And that's what he does. Now. He's terribly handsome. It's very rotating. Yeah. I mean, this Rupert Grint is the redhead group put in in. Yeah. In the Harry Potter movies, which seems almost like a fake name. I know I was like Rupert because I thought that Mahan. I was like that can't be real name Grint is better name than his character's name, which is which is we'll get we'll get to. What's the script? Nothing else. Just Mark Hamill in this life. Doing so distinct. Marquette is a good good example. It's so distinct day, no Radcliffe can take his glasses off and cut his hair. Rupert Grint doesn't work glasses has all different types of hair in the movies. And it's bright and read right? I met someone who thought I was at a party tone someone on the comedian and dog Walker and they're like, oh, that's great. Daniel Radcliffe is also a dog Walker. I don't think that's true. They're like, yeah. I saw a picture movie. And they like, no, no, it's real looked out from them. Why would you think that? John later. He was in a franchise that made ten billion dollar cannot convince this woman until she looked it up herself. I think he might be needing money. Also, not even just the frisked. He if he gets a billionth of a percent of everything that has to do with Harry Potter. Never even think about it. Again. He'll be get walked by a dog. Yeah. That's like my whole week of dogs. All right. Let's let's get into Tom Cal never seeing Harry Potter. So this is a script he wrote based on your voting what you know about Harry Potter. Yes. And we'll go ahead and let you cast the scene and generally are author will read the stage directions. Wonderful. I would like Casey to be Harry. I would like Kyle to be Hawaiian eek. Right. I would also like Casey to be Jinja. Okay. The name of a character. And she'll like cost it all just. On or are they going anything a big spoiler now. Okay. Then. Yeah. We just cast it all, and you can also read any parts if you wanted too much work. I won't Kyle to be Dumbledore. This is a dream Casey to be. One thing. I'm Barry ginger and one thing and Kyle can be that sounds like a bumble profile college ginger one thing. Call can be missed a bones, Mr Brown, and Casey, I would like you to be vulnerable. There's one casting. You didn't get that. Casey. And that is had grid. Yes. That too okay. That that is accurate. That's good casting. Great, Harry Potter exterior typical London elementary school playground. Hundreds of elementary school. Students are on their lunch break that children's stab each other smoke crack cocaine and draw penises on that teaches in in the center of the chaos. Three. Nerdy kids. Huddled together in fear. Harry Potter her Mayan, each eek, bones and Jinja Jinja Wong. I'm so as day the tab place. Yes. So so good up parents have wealth, and we'll send us to a private school. Jinja speaks in a strong Scottish accent. What they do on. Yup. That's you help us now a full head cut to hug Wiltz wisit academy. Imagine if Buckingham Palace was also. This school is all does Faulk but also covered in Campi lights with a bunch of fake ass. Turrets next to the very real turrets, basically the terrorists dope match, but it works. It looks like the kind of institution that has a paedophile scandal every year promises to do better in future. But then accidentally highest a bunch pedophiles way move them before even three young stars right outside with luggage. They stand in front of a sign Hogwarts wizard, academy and intellectual property. This place. I hope I'm not the only girl in the school. That will make me the Smurfit of this. I hope everyone has heard of the Bechtel test. I'm a three dimensional female character. I also have a scoff. Jay this. This is the most accurate Scottish accent. I've ever I just wanted to let you go. This is truly truly uncanny. Julia training. Well, you should do twenty three and me. I bet you'll skull. Let's go inside I presume receive a conventional education interior, Hogwarts main auditorium, hundreds of students sit and whisper in their seats approaching the podium is dumble dole. And. Because I love news, Tom. Which is infinitely Khuda boil us food into does calling moon shoes. Lou murgic kids what special foods as merger. Let them use it to defeat the Taliban. If mode. None of this makes sense. How grade one does away. Confused, Dumbledore continue speaking. No, let me introduce the I kind of make him into like a NBA announced. Now, let me introduce you to the guy who only says one thing his name is one thing he says the amount of money. This franchise is earned in worldwide revenue and nothing else. One thing steps on stage twenty five billion two hundred and sixty million three hundred voting Dow's in twelve dollars four cents one thing leaves. Thank you one thing. Now, I'd like to introduce our quidditch instructor missed mister bonds is dressed in a red abbey desk jumpsuit and carries a whistle. Thank you kids. Guys actual nine. Wait, why didn't know Ron Weasley? Oh, no. The guy says one thing only that I. He's the guy who owned he says one would over and over again, you can only say one thing you're thinking of ho door from game of thrones thinking. Worker. Haven't seen that eight new British stuff mix. Oh, my Lord. What is he possibly talking about? What the one thing? Good. He is ho- door. I never even watched game of thrones. And I knew who you're talking about dumbs. Pod show. I we didn't quite get too far into why you never got into so. Okay. So we'll neponset came out right before this was with cr-. I'm assuming it was we recorded it yesterday with Crin Fisher, she'd never seen Titanic Titanic is very much. Also like, especially if you're. Like our age that was like a movie kid saw especially and I don't wanna like paint too broad like every girl I knew loved that movie at that time. Right. And she said she purposefully didn't see it because everyone was so into it all the cool kids were so into it. And she wasn't a cool kid avoided it, and then she just kept never then she kept talking about like how she lives her entire life was like a voiding things that people should why is that why you didn't see this. I didn't see it. Probably because of like, yeah. Just contrary and resentful nece earth Evelyn super into it while then five you ever come around on something else. Like that. And been like, oh, that's my this has been my fault Connie west, oh, really UK, huge did a complete one ideal and you jumped on right on time. The last six months, it's making sense. I just had never listened to what he tweets. I think we talked about that with Conde west before something where I've sent you like my beautiful dark twisted fantasy. Yeah. Sounds like a good place. Sounds like a good place. I'm a I'm a huge fan. I'm I'm I'm buying the hats, he suggests and. Yeah. And yeah, I think also because it was a book for kids. And I was like I'm not a kid. I wanted to be all big and growing up. So I was like, wow. I'm gonna go raid dust escapades that have Harry Potter or whatever. So you know as kids do. So that's at that age. I could have read the name Dostoevsky. It's still hard to pronounce right? I would have just sort of looked at me like, well, how did they spell his name wrong? Yeah. It's confusing stuff. Smart guy. Tom. So okay. So I see that sometimes where it's you if you're five seconds late to it. And it's the coolest thing ever. There's you'd rather just not play catch up. And also, you know when you see something cultural product, and your your first impression is this is dumb. And then the dumbness starts to bake in the sun, and calcified and get sticky and hawed, and then all of a sudden a movie comes along and say, this is a whole franchise. You can get on this train. I'm gonna love this for decades of alive. And then you just as long as you don't set foot on that train once when it's leaving the station. You can stay ignorant. I just I just took that decision. It was stupid. Well, you know, there's there's still time. I guess I could go back and watch the they're all on HBO or something. Yeah. Really? They're all streaming somewhere. They're good. You will a here's the first one is the worst one. Okay. Because the kids are terrible acting. They did they do a very good job of surrounding them with like the UK's finest theatrical right actors Rickman that guy was Richard Harris. Who's in the first one? See, I know. I know this will really well, I'll be called train was high grid. Yeah. I know. Yeah. So right. So they they surrounded them with all these. Yeah. Yeah. All these Ralph fines. Yes, it's for eighth Rafe. As you know, they had to people pray as because Richard Harris passed away he died wasn't. He the first Dumbledore. He's dead is dead. God, I've got a Skype and people. Try and Skype Richard Harris. And like oh shit. Who else I run a Richard Harris fan tumbler? Dating like, Gary Oldman comes into it. And and it starts becoming like it carry Evans in it. Yeah. That's the thing about Gary Oldman is is you don't know him. Most of the time in stuff. Really? Yeah. He enters this like he does the dark Knight. He's a police chief that takes a helmet off. And he thought it. No. He doesn't. Who's also in Laon everyone. So so they surround these kids with these incredible incredible supporting actors that are able to carry the performances, and then the kids all become good at it. And then by the end, it's like a very emotional thing. Wow. Who played the owls was that Daniel Craig now, I believe it was work Davis. Yeah. He'll fit and I know he isn't. But he is in the Harry Potter franchise teacher. He of course, he is. Okay. What does he play is? Like, what kind of is some professor like aside kind of troll makeup e type stuff because he's a little. Yeah. I think so Warwick Davis. What else? Oh, he's he's willow. Yes. He's not. Yes, willow. Yes. So you know, it's worth invest in the time. And I would just say the first one is. But it's also like, it doesn't matter doesn't matter. I have that make you a little dusty Eski movies, though. So probably get on those foods. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've always wanted to read a movie. It'll be in Latin with Russian subtitles. And you know, other options yet to big if you didn't understand the Latin at least, here's some shapes. You can't read really cute kids. So Casey also never seen any of the ever seen it at a you. You've never read any Harry Potter books nor other books. But you for you for being an you're one of you could beat you're one of the more informed. Uninformed Harry Potter people in the world because of job you had. Yes. My first job to the beautiful New York City the bay breezy. They call it. After a large Floridian cocktail I worked at the Harry Potter exhibit at the the there's a museum in Times Square. And I I was just working the tickets and stuff like that. And then they had an audition for the guy to run the sorting hat, and I went up did it, and they said, you're the man silting sorting hat is the silting before this is what I gathered from fake my way through this weirdest. Never seen it evolve. This is Casey hasn't seen a specific scene that he was in. Yes, I have no idea. So you hold the hat over. There's hat the talks, and like you hold it over the kids heads, and it tells them which magical house they're going to get through this arouses eventually kids are divided up. But the houses are separate but equal and the it's in the UK, so you can say that and. Then they'd. Yeah. The kids are divided up the hat like reads a little bit of who they are. And then divides them into what there are. So I was there ever like a Brown versus board of Hogwarts like to you. So you touched on it a little bit in and I want to talk a little bit more about that job. Because that's so funny me, but you touched on a little bit in the script. Why aren't we fighting the Taliban right with a thing that has come up with Jake Jake relatives, very weird thing where she responds to tweets. So what do they call it cannon? The Harry Potter canon is the university exists in the rules that exist in that universe. She made it, but it has to still live in the rules that exist people tweet stuff at her like why isn't what happens to haggard after this and she'll answer. And so the Harry Potter canon has been expanded via her tweets and just and then there's these other series of movies, the fantastic beasts and where to find them, which is a screenplay. She wrote based on a book in the Harry Potter universe. Like a textbook, and it's pretty good. It's interesting world, and it takes place in New York and. The early twentieth century the big breeze. Now, do the fans love this have mixed feelings about it is it like Jewish Lucas, like it's, you know, I'm all for she has created this thing, and it is hers, and she's allowed to do whatever she wants with and. Yeah, we all we are all part of it. You know, as far as like fans and you consume it, and it's a part of you too or whatever. Yeah. But it's not as George Lucas as far as I don't think anyone feels it says destructive. But it does feel as supplement purposely sleep purposeless Lee supplemental. I've seen people get mad better tweets because she'll like say Steph about the universe. It's like, well, you're kind of ruining something for me. I don't know what they're talking about. Or what it is? Yeah. I just follow any kind of controversy. It's just so interesting to think that so these books were her whole life, especially the first one, right? She's like notoriously historically rooted on napkins at a coffee shop and get paper come on. I know. Well, you know, it's like it's like it's like one of these like Sylvester Stallone wrote rocky. On a typewriter in his apartment and refused to sell it. If he couldn't star in it, and he had to sell his dog to pay his rent how much can you get for a dog? I mean, it was like two hundred dollars to pay his rent one dollars for a dog Jesus. And so he's like, you know, these every. Thousands of dollars. Rich, man. This is crazy. I'm gonna throw selling them. I'm not convinced you know, how much a single thing costs. I'm animals are free that they just run around and grab them. Bringing in house. So I love that. You didn't see any of the movies read the books despite having a material commercial interest in doing right? So tell people about the fun times being the sorting. I am I know it's not as fast thing for you guys to talk about this JK Rollings because you haven't seen it. But I think there's something so interesting about in author continuing to expand finalized works. I'm super into it. No. But I want but the starting had thing makes me so have fun. I had to do a fake British accent isn't great. I I had to do bridge. X? I was in miss alliance in the George Bernard Shaw in college. Oh, cool. So I had to do in a British accent in there. And I studied so hard to have it. And I still sucked. You would hold this hat. For my back. And it's like the hat would like the the button is like which magical house. So you going to go into pick a kid from the crowd, and I'd say what's your favorite house and the most going to be like, Dr and so most of them. So I have a thing. My man, I hold the head hold the head over their head. And it's like you Gribben dawn Algiere. But like if I didn't like the kid thought an asshole I'd be like, oh, rob huff, a puff. Sorry. Move on is tough to there is a big way because the kids take it. They love the house. They love you have ruined birthdays. But these kids, and it was so Griffin doors the house, the Harry Potter goes. Best courage, and bravery, and and hustle puff is like patience. Yeah. It's hard work in research, and raven claw is like creativity and intelligence and think like English teachers are described raven claw. And then like cunning and surpri- all of the villains. Yeah. Yeah. So some kids wanted to be slithering. But so there is a lot smoother in his like the other side of the Griffin door coin. Yes. Some kids wanted to few on and raven clawlike the bookish type nobody ever asked Rafa pops really pissed me off. I put them in Hoffa. No one wants to be patient and carrying. No. It's done. The oh new for our really really can tell the house, by the words. Yeah. There's rain of Wieder four in it. Yeah. Yeah. So yet now as as I talked to more and more people by Harry Potter, especially comedians, and writers and people who do the podcast there are people who are like. Yeah, I'm a half above like more willing to like, you know, as you grow older, you come to terms and earn except maybe you're not a giant battle hero. Yeah. But you're someone who would play in a battle or help prevent it. Or I'm I'm off a puff. I'm we I'm weak. I'm cowardly, and you can take a test on on on the big online, Harry Potter world and see which house. It might be a fun thing for us to do that will be with Tom. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. We'll see if I can do it. So I want to the side while some stuff J K Rowling has spoilers thing. That's going to come across your do care. Now. Here's here's here's the type of thing to happen. Someone tweeted JK Rowling. My wife said there are no Jews at Hogwarts. I'm a deal. So I assume he said it to only be to be the only magical one in the family and J K Rowling just lists off. Lithonia Goldstein raven Klopp. She just starts listing off people from the who were Jewish. Oh, wow. How it worked out? And and so that's kind of people will say these things her. Peep, she'll explain meanings behind deaths, and and she didn't list any Muslims. No. No. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's like because people it just keeps going going. And then people try to blower up a set in modern time or is this like, no. So the or I think it's actually set when it takes place. Okay. Because if you think about, but the Harry Potter lives with a family non magic people in their houses. Just like a house would have been in two thousand four whatever. Okay. Now goals, right muggles. There we go see a much you permeate. Yeah. It's I just I knew that. I knew that much which is like gentiles. Right. It is. All right. I'm going to brief pull up the Potter more quiz to see what house you're and we're going to take it with Tom here. Rebecca, if you have to edit this part out while I pull this up. That's okay. Thank you back. Thank you very much. Rebecca, very nice. And you're doing a great job. Yeah. Also love what you wearing. It's incredible. Is that what does that lavender? Yes. It's beguiling the scent beguiling beguiling some of the color, but the sent you have a powerful defection. And also those shoes I've seen them not work on other people. They work for you work for you. It's very you must have a very nice shape foot. What do you do with your eyebrows? Because I get mine to work. I can't minor flying on with the place. He does a huge huge ones time. He wants. He like a couple of moth capitalist. Crawling over man's full head Tom cowl. Joining. To see which house you're going to be in. This is exciting. What is the month? You were born may what is the year you're born Eighty-one Jesus Christ. Confirm. I'm old. I'm Andrew Colin old. Don't even. Don't even do you want the Email or just told me to post Email in there? Yeah. Go ahead and put my Puerto Rican campus sixty nine. I had to use to sixty nine. I that's not a really address if that's important to the bit. I just wanted to know do you want Email, though, I know what your Email is just one on? Typer? Really good type kick. It's just because I spilled root beer on my keyboard. And so they Sam cliquier than they actually are. All right nice. If to verify your Email key, check your phone real quick. She'll Rebecca I can't believe I can't get over. You just you temerity, I don't even know we have two more games we have to play after this that. I'll be going to like one forty five. Is that right? That's fine. Get lunch with my girlfriend, but she said she doesn't want to. So it's going at lunch while I was going to go the gym. Wow. Well, before I was going when I asked you guys arm day. You know what I'm saying? It's not good through. I heard is okay. All verify. Oh, come on loaded loaded load. Wow. This that signaling sorry, Rebecca verify. E-verify verified me refresh. All right. Being forced to speak in such a silly voice that hardly anyone can understand you kind of close and every. I would say the first one, you know, the about full into the void of nothingness does feel like a therapy session. This is great. If you were Tom if you were attending Hogwarts, which pet would you choose to take with you? There's a lot. So just kind of keep whichever tabby cat. Kitty cat, Siamese cat, ginger cat. Next question once every century, the flutter by Bush flutter be Bush produces flowers that adapt. Their scent to attract unwary if it Lord you it would smell of. Whereas I'm gonna play British accent. I'll have to sorta hold through my computer speaker. I'm gonna play and hold up to microphone, and then Casey, I want you to tell me if it's a good accent? And then we'll see if Tom verifies. All right. You go to. First one is from the movie premieres ius of cool permit theism. Bob. Can hear? Means since community it's because of equalling office if he as the NAS phone. I think you people who can do. Good. I'm in all communities. I don't trust paid until Nici on community is Minnesota genetics Bergen. Okay. Casey. How do you feel about? That. Sounds good to me go. Do you Tom British accent? It sounds like someone who's not from Britain who's being educated in Britain. And is like not British. Oh, okay. But you can hear it. You can hear you can hear someone doing it. Yes. Okay. Yes. So we'll remember that one. There's a few of them, and we'll see which one we think is a highest ranking. Okay. Prometheus? This is out of ten. What do we do? We'll just pick the top three this Josh Hartnett. Or if any of them were great Josh Hartnett in blow dry what happened to him? Thomas literally, cringing what a stink. Pretty boy. Casey. Would you have guessed British? I I mean, I guess he's trying to be British. That's very hard or maybe just has a cleft palate. That's hard. I always want to be on. Josh, my fellow gap-tooth beautiful, man. So it'd be an aside, but goddamn Josh was tough. But all right next up is Anne Hathaway in one day. Tilly? It's time to go home. Kidding? We've never actually met. Actually, we have temple times get Christmas day posse. Chew lean. Delightful. This make you more or less upset than the Josh Hartnett as better than hot in it. But it's actually it's three people's voices mashed together, it's so she's she's got really. Yeah. It sounds like she's thrilled lot nailing it. But better at acting. She's nailing it three times too much. She's just doing too much nailing. It sounds like she's trying to find one specific area of England, and she focused really hard on that. But then she kind of fucked it up. Yeah. Okay. It's better than hotness. So not great. So you we still putting from atheists number one so far. Yes. I guess. Yeah. Okay. This. That's like a live feed of cases subconscious. In the. Group. Your. Shorter than you. But they grew. Who is that? It's Dick Van Dyke and Mary Poppins. Yeah. I have a anecdote if we have thirty seconds. We do I recently found out that the reason why his accent is so terrible in Mary Poppins is he hired as a voice coach an Irishman who lied about. Why? That's awesome. So he thought he was learning English accent. But this guy was just taking and completely screwing the guy over and then he had to do this accent with Julie Andrews on said, he has the most cut gloss perfect English accent, big English, of course of all time. Yeah. So that's why his voice was so bad. It's all right. It's a cartoon. Yes. Okay. We got two more. This is Keanu Reeves in Dracula. That's not him. Dracula is buying property around London, of course, tend to the count. Thank you feel confident. But you have to leave the Transylvania immediately. These. Lifetime. Yes. Of course, if I may inquire. Fact, happy to Mr. Winfield in Transylvania. I mean, he just sounds like he went to Yale in one thousand nine hundred doesn't sound like anything English until Ted or Bill. Man and then shit. So we got time for one more. We could do vivere vendetta, Robin Hood or Shilo buff. Picture. This is Charlotte buffet nymphomaniac. Oh, hell, yeah. We'll watch that for the accident. Big hog Shaya say accident. By the pilot shows day. Yeah. Some. This. Joke. Say this thing what's your name? Joe, please good job. Good job. Liz. Oh, he's nestled between judge hot Hathaway now. I'd say that second next permit you. So if you're giving the that is the that one seemed alright gold, STAN. British accent. And that's a woman that's a character whose like foreign and then moved to Britain. Yeah. But didn't she nail being foreign she now being good at being a widow the character in the movie, I've I've I like presume I thought the idea behind and there's a little bit of lower behind all these clips, right? The one from from media says many assumed that the character was specific simply a nonspecific European. Yes. It's probably as it takes place. You know, not really borders aren't coming up. Right. You presumed correctly, you know, when you presume, but she you make a president you. So what is worse? What's the worst one? I would say hard with a bullet. Oh, is that seemed? Fake. I mean, I know what it is fake. But it seemed like he was trying to do the worst accent possible. He's not he's not even hot enough to get away with that being as bad as it sounds like he spent twenty minutes with a British speak and spell. Then came to set the ET nailed it a little bit more. All right. Well, we we only got a little bit time here. So we're going to jump right into our final game. Our final game is a game. We put on the podcast a lot called guess what movie trailer? Kyle's dad is because the movie because as carbon heaven had only heard watching movie trailer, and we're really working on the title. This is my favorite set. You know, what's crazy is that we've done this for a long time. And I still can't guess a movie causes carbon. Haven't had only watched the trailer. Never having had heard of the movie. Oh, yeah. Dad's trailer dad's job because that makes it sound. Like, we're describing where I grew up. We're going to go in and want to give a big shout out to everyone who came out to the both Rydell show us night. Who's a fan of the podcast found out that my dad was in the boast rattle show and got very excited about that as well. So this is a movie trailer. My dad is describing and we'll play it through. If you have a guess hold on. And then we will take the guests at the end, right? Okay. The airplanes landing. Does it matter that this is the fourth film or something? She's got her bike helmet and she's setting at a bar. Wow. Things have gotten intense. Fighting and fighting she's fighting everybody. These can't all happen at the same time. Some bright shots some black and white sorta. Somewhere. Everyone is shadows. Someone threw an axe more shadow shots. Everything is blue. She was hoping it would be that easy. I'm gonna say underworld is not underworld. I am absolutely lost the bike helmet in the ball. Really threw me playing the four one. That's what I'm the full th one. Why is this is it resident evil full? Now. It's the fourth of something, but it is not the fourth of this movie. The one on the July. No, okay. Let me do we on a little bit more specific can't. Yes. It is this directors fourth film. Oh, okay. And they're the type of director to put that in the trailer. Yes. Oh, Quentin Tarantino kill Bill kill Bill. I was thinking that. But that was like this.
