The first two, right? I've only revisited like three times. Yeah. And the rest, Harry Potter. I'm glad it's the second one on your list on mind too in terms of fantasy phenomenal way love that. Well, and also it was incredible. Watching those guys grow up because they also really became great actors Daniel Radcliffe, they are all really Emma Watson really became fantastic actors, and then you had snake Alan Rickman. Good Maggie Smith yard. She's Nagano Gama. Yeah. Professor mug on the whole fantastic. The cost is incredible. Who's who of British treasures, you know, which I loved as well like almost anyone who was anyone and yet as a beloved English actor actress was cost in Harry Potter. Okay. You know, but we watch it so much as a kid literally, you know, thinking I was her getting through that laborat- 'cause it's an adventure fantasy. It's this wonderful challenging adventure. Little bit scary at times as a kid anyway, the practical effect. And the friendships developed within that. Her character. Arc is great. Yeah. It is. So did a Mus in in jareth goblin king, of course. Yeah. And that's also a film where I think the practical effects from the eighties and not having so much CGI works to tennis. So well, because I think that's what helps keep that film timeless..

Well, it's like even back to Adam McKay. It's like, it's the form. It's just lazy. Why why it's a movie you can do you like it doesn't have to be naturalistic, right? And so yeah, I loved is yet Black Panther and dental probably might too late favorite once. I'm C like, and you will probably notice that those are the ones which require the least amount of information about the rest of the franchise because I haven't like I so all behind. I don't know. I know cows in America and right thorough people get into anything. Yes. And doing all stole move because tool film was incredible. You'll love it. You know, your sense of humor. You'll what we do in the shadows is one of my favorite comedies in recent years. So I I. Ted. The. You'll it'll take some time to catch up on the. But we know it's possible. Because again, I've known you enough to know you pre Star Wars love and host Star Wars love. Yeah. You there? How far on the pendulum have you swum in the other direction? Now, have you seen them all the Star Wars films seen all the originals? I have seen the re boot the prequels or equal. I've seen minutes because minutes was the first one I still when I was ten and I felt like this is giants. Thanks. This. No. Yes. So I was very into that. And then going into the first rate the plus three hour amazing. They really all. It was so interesting toward something that you've literally heard hyped your entire life, actually. And especially in terms of like what's fascinating about those shows like how they shoot action like they all it's all about the characters. Like, it's about my seven is like close ups on actors, do and you will following those stories within those action sequences yet. Yeah. I mean, it's the emotion in those lightsaber fights it's like five anniversary of the job. I it's like a fully like immersive. You're like so invested. I was I was really bone away by them. And I loved full wake haven't seen. Yet. Which was amazing. I know problems. Law debt so much. Yeah. Don't. Yeah. Well, you're not on Twitter. But like don't say anything that jet. But no, I've I've always. Yeah. I mean, I found this was a dissolve very very, but it was so bad that it became funny in one of the time ended up one in ten in one one and how many one one game and my girlfriend almost one that lake. So we had completely symmetric symmetrical seasons in she ended up with one loss. And I ended up with one win. And then the other league that I mean, I had the second highest points total in the league but ended up finishing eighth because I played a person the highest score in the week. I think something like six weeks out of the routine or whatever it was. So, you know, but I keep early or do you start as you're allowed to econ keep you first round pick. But you can. Do you lost keeper do you have other actor Francis? Dane in the early days no longer in the league Dane has a young child now. And so I think I think was the cater football. They're all some who. Any other I stumbled onto this amazing all-star legal Blake apparently every big marvel actor are in the same league together found out that Chris Evans is one like the last two years at it's like, Evans and Pratt and Anthony Mackie. I know the boby kind of all I just did play together. He's in a league with like, Jon Hamm and pull rod and and they had like a big fantasy draft. Like, yeah, they're in like, a real cool guy. I'm backing alive from the Sundance film festival guys. If you follow me on social media, you probably know by now that I was noxious tearing my way through Sundance seeing a ton of movies interviewing a ton of people and just trying to survive, although I will say the weather here in New York is way more brutal wasn't Sundance. So there's that. But yes, how to blast at Sundance my thirteenth Sundance in a row. I'm back every year. I love it. It was it was it was a trip. It was great. I saw like I said I'd probably between say it was like seventeen or eighteen different films. Some of my favorites included called the farewell starring Aquafina who had two films at the festival blinded by the white which is this delightful. Bruce Springsteen tinged story directed by the filmmaker behind bend like Beckham. It is heartwarming and sweet and filled with Springsteen songs. It's great. I saw a lot of a lot of them are gonna be hearing about later in the year late night from Mindy Kelly and starring Emma Thompson and Mindy is going to get a lot of attention big time outta leci-. With Davidson is gonna get a lot of attention. So I was able to catch up with a wad of a lot of quality things really interesting film called loose. That's going to be pretty provocative, and it's going to inspire. A lot of conversation waiter this year, it was a blast and conversations we talked to so. Oh, many great people. We've been putting out a lot of this conversations on MTV's social media on my social media and putting it out there. And and there's a ton more to come where we're we're we're basically I think flooding zone with extended interviews with all of the people I spoke to in the next week. So look out for if you wanted us follow the news YouTube or TV news is Twitter. My Twitter at all there. And it's conversations with. I mean army hammers AUSSIE beats lupita neon. Go. Josh Gad Aquafina. Jeff Goldblum, Chris O'Dowd? I mean, the list goes on and on it was it was an embarrassment of riches. So I hope you enjoyed and will enjoy my Sundance coverage live vicariously through me without all the exhaustion, and yeah, I hope you hope you check it out and enjoy as for this week's podcast, Mr. Daniel Radcliffe came back. He was one of the earliest guests on the podcast. He somebody. I've had the pleasure with talking to. I mean, probably dozens of times it's actually crazy to think about how many times I've done interviews with him here at film festivals sketches for after hours. He's he's always game. He's always down. He's the nicest guy in the room super talented super industrious, I've seen I think all have is theater. He's just the most gracious great guy can't say enough about him. And I'm so thrilled to say that his new series miracle workers that he came on to talk about is a delight. It is from a writer by name of Simon rich. And it's this high concept story of guardian angels. Daniel plays one of them, and is semi point. God who's this kind of fed up the deity that's just sort of like done with the earth. And it's it's high-concept and weird. But it's totally. It's it's hilarious. My sense of humor dance sense of humor. If you like my stuff, if you enjoy the comedy that I've done I think you're gonna enjoy miracle workers it starts on February twelfth on TBS highly recommended in this conversation was fantastic. As it is with, Dan. He's unguarded. He's honest. He's open. Yes. We talk, of course, Potter stuff and fantastic beasts and curse child. But he's so much more than that. We talk about sort of wear he came upon the manners that he's shows and the way he carries himself on an offset the choices he's made. The future projects. He's looking to do his newfound love of Star Wars is about comic book movies. There's a lot here. I think you'll enjoy this one as much as I did..

"Here on Houston's morning news after Daniel Radcliffe, otherwise known as Harry Potter, speaking out against mega hats, the Warlock Trump and what else well. Anybody who supports those things Tom Brady being one of them. Yeah. So he's rooting for the Los Angeles Rams to win the Super Bowl because Tom Brady is a Trump supporter who cares? Well, this is what I want point out about Daniel Radcliffe. Daniel Radcliffe is not a United States citizen. I don't care what he thinks of the president of the United States. He's a British subject who just happens to have a work visa, so he can come here that. By the way, he upgraded back in two thousand fourteen you might recall little visa issue. Trying to get back from Canada. He was in the process of trying to upgrade his from p one to a p two p two visa is used for somebody, quote who possesses extraordinary ability in the sciences and education business or athletics. It's a little higher. Great, evidently visa. He's looking pretty ordinary to me right now. Yeah. I saw him in the Broadway play. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Well, he was naked. Part of his I guess as head extraordinary talent. I don't know. Just I'm just saying well said seven forty right now. All right. Let me talk to you about Rick laughing loving financial. Let's get you a great mortgage on a great home. That's where Rick comes in. He's been doing this for over twenty years. He gives great personal one on one service. "The tale of the three brothers is unbelievable is so much better than you could have imagined. Yes. Just beautifully. Wrought? Gorgeous, wonderful every. Thing about it is incredible. And then I thought they'd be the most visually stunning thing that has ever appeared in the films. I think so and obviously something so crucial to the plot and done in a way that enhances it if anything really takes it to another level, which not to besmirch the movies at all. But anytime, you can take something from the book and elevate it that is a rare thing, and I think this is the one book element that you can point to without question that was elevated by the presentation in the film's absolutely elevated. It's stunning. And and then I would say the use of Yates is use of landscapes throughout the film gorge both to enhance this feeling of isolation. And being kind of a raid against this vast landscape. I thought was really well done. You saw parts of the world that you never expect to see. There's this really interesting moment where they've decided to go on foot and they're walking through this abandoned like RV park stuff. Like that is not something you're used to seeing a Harry Potter. Film. And I really really it was almost like a western in the way that these main characters are arrayed against nature. I loved it. And obviously does its job in conveying instantly with every vista that you see there just out in the wires while they're just blips on this vast swath of emptiness incredible couple other quick ones. Malfoy manor, look pretty dope. It looks really really the seven Potter's transformation. Sequences fun, delight the best moment. I think is because it's obviously very funny when it's all of the Daniel Radcliffe, and they're speaking and the different characters were identical very funny and floor Daniel Radcliffe as floor telling Donald Gleason, don't look at me. Very funny. But I think quietly the best moment is before that when they're all taking the polish their mid transition and you see the mid her Miami. Yeah. Harry mash up face, really funny. You laugh Radcliffe quietly. React in this cut. Well, this was of course, Equis times time exactly you gotta get cut. If you're going to be naked on stage. So shouts Radcliffe looking good in this one. I saw Equis in London original run. You saw that that donkey? And then the actual seven Potter's battle. I already explained that. I don't overt nature of the violation of statute of secrecy. But the moment when they rise up above the clouds, and they are surrounded, and it is terrifying. That is quite cool. I really liked this is small one I really liked a wedding outfits. Like, it's weird obviously that they're not in robes, but I just think there's something so croaky and delightful about these like paisley, blouses and Plum vest thorough wearing I liked it. I liked the undesirable number one posters. Great people will buy this merch moviemaking choice, which the right people would very effective use of the newspapers. And also newly in this film, the wireless to give us key updates. You know, they've always used the daily profit in that way. You see a headline. You understand something that the movie doesn't have time to export length. You get quick snapshot, compressed exposition and the way to the wireless is used in this film. Yeah. Give you that is really great. You know, you can just hear as they're traveling. Constantly just kind of chattering in your list of Niyaz, all the deaths all the loss. It just gives. You this constant sense of how bad things really are. Even though the silver dough sequences not nearly as long we don't get to be in Harry's head and hearing his thoughts like we are in the book it still looks beautiful. I mean, it is just such a beautiful sequence. And then the contrast right on the heels of that of Harry, nearly dying in the pond, I think that whole sequence visually plays quite well. Yeah, we already talked about the lock coming to life. But we couldn't not mention that in best visuals. Of course, that is just stunningly well-done and the wolf good house pretty dope. I it's nice. It's nice little more ramshackle was expecting. But it's nice cool spot. It's quite a great spot. Sorry that it got destroyed. Tough stuff for our guy pot Zeno Zeno who will the death eaters. And then. Yeah. Well, he got left to his fate by our friends. So that's the thing..

Daniel Radcliffe is in a new play called the lifespan of a fact, and this may be the only work of theater ever written to give a leading role to a fact checker and injustice, I may say that we are all glad to see rectified now. The fact checkers at the New Yorker, I don't want to brag. But they have something of a reputation. So when Radcliffe wanted to get a taste of what fact checking was really like it made sense for him to come by the office and try his hand at it. Here's Peter canby who runs the fact checking department. So Daniel Radcliffe showed up at my office shortly after ten on a Monday morning, along with Michael Schulman who writes about theater for the New Yorker? Hello. And he didn't look unlike new checker, and I wondered whether that had something to do with his intense immersion in the play where he plays. A fact checker in mortal combat with a difficult writer. Because one of one of the. Flows. Mike characterizing the place. He has no validity to differentiate between label. One of the things that mattered in things that he's sort of gives equal weight to everything. Thing. People don't really refer mostly think. Thanks are either factor opinion. We check the facts semi leave us the bigger. The biggest thing that we work on is what I refer to MS fact-based opinion. In other words, like you have to know the underlying facts in order to crack, the construction argument. That really a science is more of an art. It's kind of a editing you make there are kind of judgments that you're making. Of course, that's a sort of squishy ground to make such judgments. You know, we are journalists. So. When we should show, you how to do it because we have something for you. Oh my gosh. When you have a phone call schedule for the chef of a Mexican restaurant..

"Come? It's a scary for me slow bird. But this one is I contact, and if I were to take anything from the last three quarters of this movie as the script, nobody would your phones would burn up. All right seriously. I believe phones would burn up. So I'm trying to take something from earlier on. They did a remake of Halloween. Yes. Is it good? Is it out today? He's coming out because she was an issue with. Lady gaga. Have you been a couple of podcasts? The ringer did one that Jamie delves into the making of Halloween and the whether it's fortieth anniversary and all that sort of stuff. So well, and I think that this is kind of it reminds me at least from what I'm what I'm seeing in the trailers, it's basically kind of like in Terminator two were Linda Hamilton is all buff and ready for the next time. She has to take on the Terminator that's kind of what is happening in this version of of Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis who is she's like come on. I've been waiting for this. You know since the way later. Yeah way. She's so cool. I love what is your what are your favorite? How I like scary movies. Because I by the way, someone recommended one of our listeners recommended woman in black which serves Daniel Radcliffe, and I really we receive Griffin, and I had a blast watching this movie. And it's one of those things were like once you scream like everybody else four tenths because I think Stephen Griffin works. Sure how many more times? Yeah. Which which one was it's called woman in black. And I really enjoyed it. Very gothic English. Yes. I don't like horrible. I don't really either I I don't mind easier once in a while the closest is the rocky horror picture show. You hear this? Here's Carolyn, Michael..

"I said to an audience fair this, this one, like even though I was leaked to the party getting onto it, I kind of became a big Harry Potter fan. So I, yeah, I'm one hundred hundred board confident, fair enough. I was a little bit more. I wasn't. I was a book reader before the movies. I'm a huge fan of the movies, interest liked him. They weren't like their heart. The first two are hard to go back to his head, so big giant lemon head. Daniel Radcliffe looks so weird in those I I'm sorry, Daniel Radcliffe. I know you listen right. Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of movies and the fantastic beasts tin really hooked me in as much as I know a lot of people did. So it was kind of I could take her to leave. It says to see this continuation and then adding on Johnny Depp at where he's kind of at the point where he's a lot of his movies. You seems like he just doesn't care and just kind of jumped out, and I'm just going to be crazy. It didn't really do it for me. I'm going to say conflicted. Okay, I hope it does. Well, I'll probably go see it. I like the kind of the world building still. I think that one of the things that everybody movies, there's really well. Yeah, and that was I think what I liked about fantastic beasts maybe more than those early Harry Potter movies, is it just it felt like a bigger world as opposed to gist Hogwarts? Sure. So, yeah, so I'm on board for that one next. This is one that so in our in our blurred groups of Tim Damian and I, we talk literally every day almost all day they are. So my best friend's my family, I love them. So Tim dropped the Godzilla gave you monsters trailer and our group techs. I clicked on it as I'm watching like the first thirty seconds Damian chiming news like Johnson have a heart attack. This trailer forgot the king of monsters. Like I, my jaw was on the floor. I am so in this movie and again, the first Godzilla movie or the first of the reboot, the one for years ago, again, I was not a huge fan of it, like I liked what they were doing. I was one of the people who complain about every time you saw guys was on a TV screen. Right? That just bothered me by a hated. What's the guy's name? The the main actor in the movie. I forget what who even mad Channing Tatum. Quicksilver. Oh yes. It actually had both quicksilver and scarlet witch in it. It's true, married couple, right or dating or something. I am so bad at my job right now this, you know, it's it's a quarter after midnight right now it'd Brickley is late. Be at Luther Olsen was in it. Hearn Taylor Jones. Yes. Yep. Yep. Yeah, you was going to work, but this one Godzilla king of monster, king the king of the monsters. Q. I just like soon as they showed so show this like giant ice block eviscerates lighting up from behind when I saw three heads in shadow, yeah, I lost my. I audibly watching this trailer on my phone and was just freaking out. Dan over road at mothra. See the declared a loon can take riff or whatever. And then it goes on like a weird like dischord melody, like right at the end, it Charlie's dance coming in with Neil the king. I, I'm so on board for this. Like I blew me away this trailer one Comecon for me like this. This beat everything else because he's came out of nowhere. Like they showed us an image a couple of weeks ago where he would just breathing is tire or Tomek breath day, yo John into the sky into this guy, and you don't really get the scale of him..

"Okay harry potter daniel radcliffe he's he's talented he's also a hero i guess toothy leaves got this guy in london and they witness all of this this guy was walking down the street and he got robbed and slashed in the face actually and uh so daniel radcliffe just happened to be there and they called the police and help the guy they did not catch the attack qors but the victim it was a tourist and they had a louis vuitton bag the thieves took that and they cut him in the face so daniel radcliffe stayed with the guy comforted him called the police until and stayed with him until the police got their tried to stop the bleeding on his face so loud wand in his potion absolutely so that's kind of a different story we haven't talked a lot out there i know i love affair kermit the frog the voice actor stevo admire what i hi it's well i guess he had some though they're saying is that he had some business practices that they didn't agree with unacceptable business conduct what does that mean he consistently failed to address the feedback that they gave him so they give a multiple warnings that wasn't such a shock they're saying oh so he was selling mufid crap on the side or maybe he was doing voice work that was ill you know those kind of contracts feeds was doing voice working it wasn't allowed by disney yes to get something like that and he used profiting on the side that's my guess i know nothing will be very clear but yeah acceptable i mean it could be like you said maybe not approved he was due in other voice work that might not have fit in with what the muppet you know market lifestyle yes winging it could have been something dirty i'm just speculating also that there's that avenue they're here the most surprising here are the story is that we are even hearing a peep about it you would think the way disney has things wrapped up that he would have been required to sign an order to not talk about this at all and go away quietly hm narrow mobile asking the disney folks than were there next year yeah exactly kohl down by the whole story right now shuttered when we come back i've heard buddy sociable neural joins us live from repulsed dragrace stay with us everybody.
