That's part of the business To results driven league. It's it's a results driven business. And so that's the case and you know a guy like Anthony lynn who i think's still has i kind of liked anthony lynn as as a guy to lead the the charges. I understand that they didn't get the results they wanted. But i actually like him over there. I think zac taylor. I'm glad that they're gonna stick with zac taylor But when i look what happened from week seventeen two things that really stand out to me. The ravens are in a little bit of iran. And they've kinda you know. They got running game going over four hundred yards what happened. We south. Because i don't think you want to see the the buffalo bills right now so we were this close. We're about four inches to the right From the titans having to go play the bills and now it's going to be the colts that play the bill site you know. I think that's a big deal to not have to play The bills right now. And then lastly i would say one of the big takeaways on the afc side. Is i know. It seems a little bit. What alex smith has been able to do. I never i didn't know if he would walk buck the fact that he came back..

I wasn't even anticipating coming to me i but i just think it's just such a crazy time like i'm seeing these teams. Just completely fall out of contention having games on the control and so i'm still kind of blown away from west on over the course of the weekend. Well i mean like this is why we call it the wild card right because it is going to be wild in week seventeen. We've got five wild card spots. When you combine both conferences that'll be up for grabs three teams that are currently in the wild part of the afc. All of the same records is a ton of different variations teams and seedings in a team. We thought was probably firmly in the culture now on the outside looking in. Welcome to move. the sticks. present buys axes. dj bucky back with a boys. It was an interesting weekend football. And i think we could do an entire takeaway. Podcasts solely on the quarterback position yes. I dj each and every week. We see these quarterbacks. Take these quantum leap sometimes because of the playcaller also. We've seen the regression of some of the quarterback that we thought it'd be stars in this league and how about the fit tastic finishes we had in the early window in particular yet. Five games coming down the final possession. You had a six down to an onside kick. It was a lot of fun to be had in this week. Thirteen the wild week right. "During that time I think joe his patience eventually paid off because he was a good team player developed a lot of great friendships and still stays in touch with with a lot of those guys. Plus the coaches. I mean they respected the way. He handled that whole situation coach. He makes the decision to go to. Lsu New team new environment. Where advice did you give him along the way we can handle being the leader of a new squad where we we talked a lot about. You know not not going in there and try to Overdo. It not not going there. And he was never a big talker anyway but just You know my buys knowing that we experienced that at at the the places I had coached people coming in and fill just work hard and earn the team's respect by by working hard and kind of keeping a low profile. Initially until again you Kinda Make your presence known. I think those were were things that that he took to heart. When we talk about it and you know I've read Different things over the past. Couple of years where. That's exactly what he did he he. He worked hard. He won the sprint. Twenty could he did. Everything worked hard extra after practice and and was it was a good team member in the locker room but not to the point where hey. I just came from Ohio State. I'm the guy here. He knew he had to earn earn that respect and earned that position. Which eventually did maybe put the father to the side? Put your football coach hat on. What do you tribute just enormous leap? You saw from Joe this year. We always thought especially from the first year. A young man play whether it was his freshman or sophomore year. There's a great amount of improvement just from the experience factor that second year and Joe hadn't played football really in a game very much for for three years so that first year was a was a learning experience. I mean He. He didn't even know. Some of the guys names. I don't think by the time they. They rolled in that camp in the summer. So that was a tough deal and eat pretty much went. Went through everything. You could possibly go through that that one ear is first year at Lsu playing Alabama and getting shot out playing those those top teams and finding a way to win seven overtimes so all that adds up to to really confidence. That kind of started showing in Fiesta Ball and then they come in with Joe Brady and and coaches mangled. I decided to retool the offense and they had done that at Athens. High School in job became a sophomore because at Joe's ability and his teammates around him that were all Great Receiver so they put in basically the same offense that you saw Lsu so when when joe found out that that's what they were going to do they were going to spread you out. They were going to go up. Tempo. There we're going to go to know backs that was just in in Enjoys Wheelhouse and then so he was fired up about that from the start he was fired up about Joe. Brady J. T. Barrett had played under him at New Orleans and and giving them a thumbs up before before. Joe Grade even even Joe Borough so there was a lot going into it and then and then you had Get no guys in in space. The great receivers because of that offense even Joe. More more responsibility. At the at the line of scrimmage and and his confidence just continue to grow Every game as well as tame but as a coach. I'm up there watching from a from a defense standpoint. Trying to figure out what I would do and I didn't have any better answers than anybody else Either but it was it was. It was a was a fun thing to watch. I mean you could go down player by player at each position and each unit and just so much improvement without whole tame individually and collectively as the team was pretty amazing leaning on your defense background it has to be advantageous for Joe to be able to pick up the phone or sit across. You're just GonNa talk about Defense and coverage schemes How much does being coach's son benefit Joe just from your mission in your experience does I mean? I didn't like making sit down and watch Phil but but water times starting in third grade. I might not be able to see the games or I didn't see a lot of them. They did play at Ohio. University third fourth fifth and Sixth Grade. So my office was overlooking the stadium. I'd get a chance to watch. And then I hired our video guy to film upstairs the game just like Bob Cats so that was an advantage in the fire. Were home owner Thursday night. I'd say Joe You WanNa Watch the film. And and most of the time he did. I didn't make him. I didn't grinding mile. Maybe I wouldn't want them all players in film session. We talked about coverage we talked about. Hey why don't you make that throw? Maybe you should know made that particular read and and continued all the way through high school and then just just joe watching how hard It it kind of the work ethic. It took not only to to be a player but to be a coach. I think that all kind of added up and independent to being the son of a of a football coach will not only. Did you have advantage of having a father who coach but father who played father? Who went and played professional football? Have you told him about this? Nextstep it's another whole level. Now you're getting ready to take on and that's exactly what I told limits it it's a it's a new level. It's a different level. You can't expect success just because you had success at an Lsu. There's a learning that goes to any position specially quarterback and and you just got to work at it's GonNa take extra film Session and Film study like like he did in college but yeah it's a lot different even even throwing the NFL football with the first day that he actually through and and he said hey this this is a little different. He's he's feels really good at it now but little things like that and then It does become more of a business. And all those things as you said. Just just takes it to a whole `nother level as a as a player coach. I can let you go without talking about Joe's competitiveness. Do you have any stories from his childhood. That were kind of illustrate his competitive. Spirit well he he definitely never liked to lose and I've spoken about this this particular incident one other time. It's not. It's not one of my favorite Parenting things because it involves sportsmanship but he had a baseball game championship Is One of the twins that were Basically as best friends they they did every sport where they might recruited under Ohio University. They're starting to tight ends. They are now but we're walking off the field and and I saw one of the twins just dropped his second place trophy in the in the garbage can and his his parents. Kinda got on him and I'm thinking well at least Joe's not not doing that and then so I got home. And he went. Upstairs wasn't saying very much and so. I walked upstairs. And we're going to talk a little about you. Know the game. Maybe pump him up a little and he had dismantled the second team trophy so I didn't do much better teaching sportsmanship but just hated to lose. And he's been very fortunate in high school and in college to be surrounded by a great group of teammates and that was a big part of this year to is just their Their willingness to do whatever it takes to win and how bad day they really hated to lose and Mike Connors played out. They didn't even have to experience a loss this year but they learned from from those last year but he's always been a competitor We had some Christmas Time Pingpong Games with the family and and even even now. We'll still get down there if we all get together. And play some ping pong the competitiveness When you talk about dismantling that Second Place Baseball Trophy I. I can't get enough of that no I I can't get enough and I also think the influenced Jerry rural experience at Nebraska had on the way that he Brought Joe up in terms of like way to be played the confidence that he play with but also humility. We talk about the competitiveness all those things.

"He was a physical Michael playmaker. When had the ball in his hands at Byu but he was oft injured everywhere? You I mean he had a ton of injuries at Byu. They really kind of prevented you from being able really project him as a player and it has a quarterback going back to win. He came out. That style. quarterback wasn't in Vogue. You didn't see the the run. I quarterback viewed as a guy that was optimal eight. This is who we want in the national football league and so Unless those guys Aska play multiple sports I mean multiple positions unless they were willing to move away from being a quarterback. It made it really hard and the only way that you could project or really make that predict check projection. You had to talk him and you had to get some buy in from the kid and so the reason why you don't see more teams Kinda project guys in this way. A lot of players ears are unwilling to make that move when you initially suggested during the run-up to the draft. Well I think the other thing. People need to remember about Tasting Hill as we've had the athletic athletic some athletic quarterbacks people tried to try them in different roles and do different things and it hasn't always worked out and some of the reason is because you might get a guy like a pat white right last really athletic but he's real skinny even rg three. who was a little leaner you know? Then you look at Tim. T but tempt people ran four. Seven to uh-huh Haysom Hill rent four four four like this is a guy who's you know. Two hundred and twenty five pounds is running four four like this is not like people Kinda act like Oh you get a taste hill every year like no no. There's not two hundred and twenty five pound quarterbacks to run four four that come out every single year like those e even though he was later selection or was there wasn't because of the ability he was he was he was injury prone he had a ton of injuries there at Byu it felt like forever. he was he was clean in health wise he would have got picked. He would've got picked off of his measurable Ze. Yeah he would've got picked offers measurable. And here's what I'll say about the taste hill conversation. I'm sure I'm right about it later in the week. You know tastes him. He'll really is tasting. Hill is Kordell Stewart. So when you go back and you think about Kordell Stewart store was coming out of Colorado big physical fast. You want to give them a chance to play quarterback but you just didn't know The Pittsburgh steelers take him select them and what did he do. He was slash part running back part receiver receiver part playmaker and then he got a shot to be a quarterback. Maybe tastes meal. Is that the only thing is you didn't know because he was so engineering college. You didn't know how he will hold up now. We'll see in the off season where people really view him as a quarterback but to me taste them hill is a version and a variation shen of what Kordell Stewart was early in his in the league. Look people are going to debate whether what do you know what he's GonNa do. How much success will have a quarterback? I'm here for it man. That's a great story line in the League. I I hope I hope he goes somewhere where they let him start at quarterback. I don't know if he's physically GONNA hold up over the over the entire season but can be fun to watch you. Know as we've seen the creative creative offense that the Baltimore Ravens run. I'm here for it man. I think it's good for football. I think it's fun to watch. I hope he does get a shot at quarterback. Look if he does get a shot. I just think he continues as to speak to the revolution that we're seeing The quarterback position you seeing more and more office coordinators like. Hey you know what I need my guy to be a a a passer. Plus he needs to be a good pass but he also needs to be able to add some other dimensions to our offense so look man. I'm all for ethic quarterbacks I'm all for creativity and I'm doing it a little different than it's been done before the national football league so Kudos to taste a meal all right. Let's get to this next one here quickly. Some of your favorite small school players. I feel like we've talked about these guys lunch But Bartsch from Saint John's at tattle had a good week. How Duggar From Lenore Ryan had a great week. Senior bowl guys. And then Adam Trautmann from Dayton I I know there're all senior bowl guy so technically not like deep deep cuts sleepers but those are three of my favorite small school guys. Yeah I'm I'm with because if they played at senior bowl to me is just It's about finding players that play the highest level to senior bowl is a way to start thinking. We've been around this for so long it. There's something to knowing guys. We don't have to look up on the every rock to try and find the guys they kind of find their way. I think those three guys that you mentioned traveling Duggar embarked our guys that are small school guys who should have an opportunity to have a lot of success zest. Okay here we go fifteen over the next one. We're GONNA excellent what scouting team building philosophy. You guys argue about the most. The sentences or what scouting team did a philosophy. Do you argue with the most about I think probably running back thing running backs and draft status because we come from different due to different schools of thought I was at a place in Carolina where we valued runningback to the point where we would take them in the first round. I mean we we. We took US high. And we believe you take high. And then when he is nearing the end of their first year you take another guy high and so I sat there and watched him when Desha foster was the second second round pick and then they edit the Angela. Williams was the first round pick and then Jonathan Stewart comes on board. And so it's just one of those things where value them in a different level. I think you come from a different a place where you see value in getting running backs a little down the line. Yeah the only thing I would say though as I've I've seen it both ways I was in Baltimore and we watched Jamal Lewis rose for two thousand yards. It was a fifth pick in the draft so they invested in that there and Kinda wrote his coattails offensively for for a long period of time. So I my whole philosophy on the running back thing is simple. Well I'm not against taking a running back high in the draft to me. Take one with with two things number one. He's got to be special an elite number three things. I should say he's gotta be special elite number. Two you don't bypass an elite player at another quarterback defensive end corner there is still a hierarchy of positions and I think they slide down there but I'm not I will take a great running back over a good player at some of those other. You know positions save quarterback and the last thing I would say is I do like the philosophy of let's try. I'm build out as much of your team as possible and then dropped out running back in that high pick running back. Because then his carries will matter. They'll be useful if there's a limited number of them I don't WanNa waste. Amman teams names are GonNa win. Five Games makes sense makes a lot of sense because then I think you also subscribe to the theory of on never paying one because I think when you talk about doing it that way where you build up the rest of the team and dropped the running back in your draft him and you can even tell them on the day. Congratulations I just want you to know you not going to be a lifelong as long. WHATEVER WE'RE GONNA DRAFT WE'RE GONNA ride you to the wheels fall off for five years and then we'll let you get your money elsewhere but we never will resign another running back and I so I play out out in Seattle? We took Shaun Alexander Terrific player. I played a tremendous high level. When they made the decision to pay him on their second deal he was never the same? And so there's something to a draft one high but make sure when you draft him you know five years we're gonNA use him use them up and then we'll let someone else take him after that drafted optum high after five by. That's the that's the philosophy up on the up on the room All Right Sixteen last skip that one. Let's go to. Let's go to the last one here. Seventeen if you're a GM what would be on the checklist of things. You want out of a draft meaning certain positions or extra picks I've always look at the goal to me. was always three starters if you get three starters out of a draft wherever they may fall. That is a really good draft for starters is unbelievable Qabail draft so to me. I I always Kinda look at that three or four starters and then I've we've talked about this before I'm always of the mindset of I wanNA make a trade every year to get an extra three or four in the next year's draft I want some extra capital going next year's draft and the reason is when we get to the trade deadline I have that little piece and I'm almost like setting that aside. It's like a savings account. I'm going to have a little piece there and if we're in it and we've got a chance to make a trade to try and help us. I've got that extra three or or four which is usually about all you need to make trade at the trade deadline to make your roster better and if there's not anything there then you go into the next draft got an extra pick but I would always WANNA come out at one draft with at at least one bonus pick in the next following draft year. Look I think that's important. I think you touched on a couple of things that are really important. I think to trae piece is terrific. I think when you're drafting this year you always have to kind of draft with next year in mind in terms of you just WanNa have capital in currency In terms of what I want to come out with you talked about three. Starters I just think is important. Those first two rounds those first two rounds we gotta hit but more importantly I gotta hit on my first round picks. My first round picks have two guys that come in and their starters and ideally you'd like them to be started at a high level but you and I have talked about it and I don't know if this is all the way a Baltimore thing but you can in a lot of games is hitting the ball in the fairway..

"In the pocket. He's this shark. Clark Frank Short it Clark. How about this? We always talk about this game being one of adjustments like you see what so. What has fast ball you try and get them off? The fastball and make victim used their change up early in the game. I I was worried about the Kansas City chiefs on defense. I didn't think they'd be able to corral a slow down to run game and they did. Jimmy Garoppolo was in rhythm he. He's doing a good job of really eating him up because they were overaggressive to the run they were hitting him with play actions in quicksand. Moving the ball down the field somewhere in the fourth with quarter the Kansas City chiefs. kind of figured it out Tomor. Matthew has an outburst on the sideline they begin to kind of find a way to start creating pressure. You saw Steve Spagnolo bring more five or six pressures and I believe the biggest play of the game with when Sorenson hit Jimmy Garoppolo when he hit him in the fourth quarter. It changed the way. The Jimmy Garoppolo was throwing. We always talk about The harassment and how it changes all the rhythm of the quarterbacks play that big hit early I believe began to change the way Jimmy Garoppolo in the pocket we saw him start. Having some errant throws between that hit and Chris Jones calls being able to bat boils down. At the line of scrimmage the Kansas City chiefs were able to create disruption disruption completely. Took their office out of his normal rhythm. I look I mean it just. It just didn't seem like the same. Forty niners rushing attack early on if not for Deebo Samuel. I thought this team might have been in some real trouble. I mean he was providing them. Those chunk plays that they weren't getting in the run game. Seven Coleman pretty much wrapped up early in that game. They now they eventually loosened up a little bit and got some of those plays going but man it did not come easy for them. In the run game I thought the chiefs defended the edge outside of the depot. Plays pretty well all on some of that outside zone stuff. In the fact that the chiefs ended up with one hundred yard rusher in this game and kept the forty niners out of that the stats sheet. That was really impressive. I mean leading rusher remorse or fifty eight yards in this game. Chris Jones was a force. I mean those two. Those two pass deflections. He he had in the late in the fourth quarter as the forty niners were behind on consecutive ways man. That was huge in that going in after the game and saying he wants to be achieved for life. I mean I is pretty funny. I mean he's talking. He went to Lebron James. He went not one three or dynasty. He wants all the championships and he let he let George Kit will know that You know stone cold sack was here. I mean Chris Jones was joining victory as well he should. He was a big part of it. He's a special player. I really you look at the two D. tackles in that game with him. Arm said both being free agents. They're both going to big money Based off type of type of players that they are but buck I agree with you in terms of the adjustments. I thought early on when I was texting back and forth offencive line coach during the game and he was saying they were they. Were trying to stem into a bear front late. You know late in the snap count just to try and load up to try and stop the run Had some success early on then I thought the the niners did a nice job with deebo. Samuel Kinda hit the alley on them creating another blocker with with the running back then. Most I think most I think has huge huge block. Yeah they're on the safety on one of them but I don't understand why they didn't necessarily keep going back to that. I thought this was a game or Deebo. Samuel should've had seven eight nine carries the only three. He was rolling the way they want him going. I understand that that was that was one of the things I didn't get. I thought they would've continued to go back to that But the other thing that they did give spagnolo credit on a lot of the money down a lot of the key downs they bracketed. They bracketed George Kettle and they were not going to let him beat them in a couple of times. Jimmy Jimmy just failed to get off of him. He laid he locked onto him. He was bracketed if he would come off yet Emmanuel Sanders on a couple of plays where he could have got some some conversions but he just got so so focused and locked in and it goes back to me. That's the bill belichick right. I mean you're going to get away making be left handed. Take away what you're most comfortable with. And everybody says says that they give lip service to it but they don't do it and I thought that spag Nolan that chiefs defensive good job of making them a little uncomfortable there in the fourth quarter well and then the one time he really needed needed kiddle and had kittle. He mailed Otago was wide open in the middle on that third and five. What was that kind of like an angle type around? When he was just he got a step on this little Y- AH naked? He had suggs stugz trump element. It was stealing but I didn't see him. He paid Jimmy. There was there was three third. Downs Jimmy Garoppolo. I would like to have back when you talk about Early on in the third five could Iran. I down. He didn't then you had the the one we're referencing there to kill where he's flashes ashes right over the middle of the field doesn't see him and then the third and ten. I mean as much grief as cow. Shanahan's getting if he really really is not a difficult throw. I know what's deep down the field but an hop post when you've got three dollars separation it's a touchdown or a penalty came either on the money it's a touchdown you under throw it. It's a penalty. The one thing you cannot do when you have a defender in trail position by three yards overthrow either. Your golden wouldn't even close your Ed. It really wasn't he he. He missed a layup because that was a layup to be had. And I think in this game we we we talked about you and I talked about it on the phone. Like the comparison between the two quarterbacks ultimately everyone believes that they have a franchise quarterback. But we talk about it look categories trucks or trailers and at the end. Today when you look at the battle between Pat Mahomes Jimmy Garoppolo Pam homes is a truck. He carries the squad. Jimmy Garoppolo at this stage of his career. He's a trailer he needs to run in a game. And all those things and I think everyone points to the end of the first half and I think you have to listen to cow Shanahan's words and just take him at his word for why He made a decision he talked after the game about. Look we understood ahead three time house and with that quarterback of theirs. We didn't want to give him the ball back. The the coach is telling you. I'm fearful of number fifteen on the other team. I don't want to give him an opportunity. So I believe my quarterback we're back isn't as good as the other quarterback. I trust their quarterback mortar. Make a play. So we're GONNA do is we're GONNA get down and see if we can get a play later and and if we don't get it we don't want to give homes another opportunity and guys if you're if you're I I actually. I actually agree with him. I I in because I th I think in hindsight people look at the the punt goes into the end zone right so they get the ball to twenty well. You don't have that knowledge of what's going to happen with the punt so you burn. Burn the time out. What happens when they pin you inside the five yard line? You've got to be conservative. They've got all three timeouts. They've got a kicker woohoo. I saw Mexico. City make seventy the yard field goal. warm-ups okay he's got probably the strongest leg of anybody in the league. You're giving Kansas City chiefs three points if their partner is able to pin you inside the five. So why take that chance. The odds are are more difficult for me to travel. Even if it's a touchback to travel the distance I need than it would be for them to get pinned and then ended up getting the ball back. I can get point so I actually thought it was a little bit conservative but I thought it was. I thought it was smart. Well it did if not for the. They're in they're GONNA kick a field goal and if you have a shot that double up with ten points points you know coming out and getting the ball in the second half so like you know it was the whatever the plan was like it almost worked actually look before before he can win games. You have to learn how not to lose. I think what Kyle Shanahan was doing was. Let's make sure we don't give them any points. Before the half worst-case we go in ten ten best gates. Maybe we get a field goal or touchdown and have the possibility of the double score that you talked about and so from a strategic standpoint. I thought he was right. He had three timeouts three timeouts else with a minute. Left is an eternity. Especially if you're in your two minute drills doing some things so I thought he played it right and I know people are beating them up over making that decision but I think they had the game. Aim exactly where they want it now. We talk about the fourth quarter and where they didn't a fourth quarter but the way they played out the first half. I am absolutely fine with it all right well that kind of that leads into the final takeaway despite some flaws in this final game the forty niners will be.

"And now sticks the Super Bowl with Daniel Jeremiah bucky brooks and read Louis. Everybody what's going on. Welcome to move the sticks. Dj Bucky ret Back with you here and Boys we got a lot to get to on this super bowl not only are takeaways from the Super Bowl game but what this means go forward in the NFL. I know Bucky and I had to interesting conversation last night about that does not know what that conversation was. It breaks with that a little bit later on it will bring him in he can keep up. Okay how we don't voice These individual bittersweet game right. Yeah it is. Ah I mean it was. It was a fun game. I mean the first three and a half quarters you know I mean it was. The game was truly in the balance and boy the chiefs. Just turn on the gas right that final six minutes certainly four kyle. Shanahan probably bringing up some old superbowl. Nightmares wasn't quite like the Falcons collapsed but man To be up ten with six minutes ago is and not win. The game is is a tough way to go. Yeah I mean this. This is a game that brings in so many things that we talked about in the skeleton world. Interplay building around your quarterback what is it true franchise quarterback What franchise quarterbacks bring beyond just their skills to hope and the optimism optimism and then we think about coaching like how you manage your roster in what you have and how you kind of minimize your your weaknesses is in enhance your strengths? All this kind of came to fruition in this game and so to me. It's kind of a fascinating watch. Nothing is one of those where evaluators will pop in this tape and look look at it over and over and over again just to look at the construction teams. Yeah there's definitely a scouting slanted this. We're going to get to as we go through these takeaways but We have one unlike read said almost bitter sweet here because we've been doing these salon Throughout the entire season last one no doubt but look the the off season shrink the NFL. We've got a lot to be excited about. And the draft traffic gets rolling. We're going to have path to the draft coming your way as well as lots of draft stuff right here. I'm with a stick so with that said. Let's finish this thing up the right way here. I'll start with my first takeaway away from this game and that was once again in a big game. It was mahomes mobility. That was the difference. Forty seconds.

"GONNA be a lot of people that are Kinda. Take what the forty niners were able to do with the handful of backs that were either the undrafted or picked up off the scrap heap and that you can find running backs anywhere. Yes you can find running backs anywhere if you have a talented offensive line and and if you have a great play designer that enables those guys to elevate their game. If you don't have that didn't you need to have a talented runner that can elevate the players players in front of him or the scheme as Oh what general managers and folks have to do is to be able to scout the coaches and know exactly what they have and how to feel all those things in and I think in San Francisco you have the perfect storm in marriage between scheme play caller and running back that running backs to run a certain style that fits. It's too scared and think about that. Going all the way back to cal. Shanahan's Dad Mike. Shanahan think about the trade member Clinton Portis Champ Bailey because in that system in the Shanahan's Shanahan's system that does work. It's an elite elite elite system. Where they're able to take is one? Cut runners decisive runners. There's a particular style that fits well in that scheme mm-hmm so you can have a guy. In Clinton Portis was special special player there. We'll get a big time corner in here because we can find other backs thing and now the difference was when we talk about Clinton Portis and other guys. That special runner can't put you in that fifteen seventeen or like a td two thousand whereas an average runner may get you thousand to eleven. Hundred is different though. There's a difference in doing it but look it can be effective. And then because a lot will be made about Jimmy Garoppolo only having eight attempts. I think the beauty of having a franchise quarterback or quarterbacks that you love as a QB one is. I liked to have him. But I don't necessarily need them to be at what is best every game so he's a luxury item for the San Francisco. Forty nine 'cause when run game is gone they don't necessarily need to just call passage just to call passes and so. I think it's the perfect way to build a team. They're dominant up front on both houses ball but man their office is really really fun to watch when you think about all the hybrid pieces that having having you check in Georgia thing about this thought. Real quick with Shannahan hills thinking about this He's GonNa go against Andy Reid and we'll talk about that match up here in a minute but Think about Andy Reid. Having good quarterbacks and I'd say mcnabb was a really good quarterback. I don't think he's a hall of fame quarterback but look at the success. He had with a good quarterbacks throughout his entire career. Alex Smith their city. Good quarterbacks and Andy Reid lauded as one of the best playcallers offensive genius scorn a lot of points and then all of a sudden. You drop happened elite quarterback with Patrick Mahomes and look at what they've been able to do in Kansas City. The scary thing is as young as Kyle. Shanahan is at some point in time buck. He's going and have somebody a lot better than Jimmy Garoppolo as good as this looks right now at the forty niners wait till he gets an elite level quarterback in that system. I mean that's the thing and that's when you really see the game going that's when you begin to have a level of dominance we think about what the New England pages have been able to do. It's not a coincidence that they've had an elite quarterback play with him in the same system. Get get better and he understands how to do it. And so yes. You're right when the San Francisco Forty niners in an elite playmaker at that position to go with the running game or even imagine San Francisco for an elite running back like dominant run style. What they can do so all things are training up obviously Forty nine Oh. Well we've got a couple of packer fans in the room. We're going to plug their ears. what's your takeaway for the packers book. The packers are not ready for the big time Jones. Hold on a second down and five San Francisco Twenty five nine showing. Let's fumble snap was fumbled and now the niners. Rogers pull back from center in the Green Bay. Twenty at the San Francisco twenty-six deforest buckner comes up with it so we said it. Oh year the Green Bay packers team was one. That was interesting to watch. This is a team that I mean looking at thirteen wins during the regular season Win The first playoff game but they still felt like there was something missing when you compare them to some of the other teams that were in the tournament and I think what we saw against San Francisco Forty niners all of their flaws were exposed. This was a team that had trouble stopping the run. When teams committed to running at them and offensively they didn't have have mini explosive weapons outside of Aaron Jones? Davante Adams when you play in these championship level games. You have to have more weapons because you've gotta have more punches. You gotta be able to really throw some haymakers offers and what I saw was a team. That didn't have a lot on offense when it came to punches. Aaron Rodgers didn't have many places to go to he couldn't he couldn't find a playmaker. They make a decade really. Take over the game outside. Davante Adams and that showed up and then defensively the way that they were absolutely dominated at the point of attack. I think is one. It's it's an area of concern because they have to figure out a way to be able to deal with these teams run at them because everyone is going to run out them giving success something that I thought it was interesting last week if we went through the kind of the championship foundation pieces and we thought it looked a little bit lopsided when we looked at that right with forty niners packers. And that's really kind of what showed Out there They need a third guy. You've got the running back You've got the receiver Davante Adams. They need a third and fourth option anymore firepower to use the word you just just used their book they have a good offensive line. It's not it's not at the level of the forty niners but a good group I think finding them finding tight end. That could help in the run game. a little bit more than somebody like Jimmy Jimmy. Graham who's not gonNa have any impact their Mercedes Lewis. He's Alway Guy Laroche solid run block where they don't have a two way tight end so getting a tight end that can do a little bit everything thing getting another explosive playmaker on the outside and you go to the defensive side of the ball the second level of the defense you just get more athletic. There's not athletic enough not athletic enough and I think you made this point and and we talked about. I came here. We made it on the podcasts or privately speech shows up the speed that we've seen both winners can't see the cheese. They the fastest teams that we've seen the particular offense You look at the San Francisco Forty niners to weigh the speed shows up for them Deebo and then the linebackers Keflavik in so the model that you have to have like. Yeah when we talk about trade like traits matter you have to have a fast team and we talked about nothing you've talked about it In terms of building a team like we've heard all these guys come on and talk about urgent athletes or explosive players. You have to accumulate enough explosive players to be able to create Big plays the also create turnovers because the speed and athleticism allows you to get your hands on the ball and so I think the Green Bay packers need to continue to stockpile explosive explosive players. Closer Plague Physical Upfront fast everywhere else. That's kind of formula. Just what it is. You've got to be fast team if you want to be able to compete against the boys all right let's get to to this Super Bowl matchup here. A little quick early look at it and And one of the points We're keeping an eye on. I'll start here my first one. That is like the forty niners defense. This is uniquely equipped to play against the Kansas City chiefs. Offense the reason I say that buck is is because when you look at this defense they can rush for you know we saw. We talked the titans. Only Russian three couldn't get home bad strategy. Well you look at the San Francisco Forty niners. They can rush four they can get home against everybody they play. They find a way to get home with four which designates more bodies to the back end where you can put more attention on Kelsey and tyreek Hill. Try and take those guys away and then you talk about being able to rush for second level speed. They have it linebacker where mahomes wants to take off and go as Fred Warner quant Alexander they can suck him up in hurry. Yeah I mean this. This is a team that is definitely built to play the Kansas City chiefs. When we just look at their defense? You talk about being able to throw out five and six D lyman. That can get after it. And it's very important because the rotation and that they had because they don't tie they can just kind of relentlessly come out to Pat Mahomes that is going to be critical. Second Level Defenders Quanta Alexander Green buried. When you talk about all of those guys can run that can cover they Specialized making these big hits and then the secondary they have a secondary does not as fast but they very very smart and in this scheme they really understand where they fit. It is rare to see them. Give a big place and if you think about keeping the ball in front and being able to hunt with those hunters of front and gives them a very good opportunity. Now the one thing I would be nervous about if you just look at The game against an Orleans saints game that they wanted the forty niners one on the road. Perfect conditions right indoors in the dome and the forty niners gave up a bunch of yards a bunch of points in that game now. They're healthier now than they were. At that point time they're going to get even more healthy having some rest here before the super bowl by I guarantee you. That is a tape that Gandhi read is studying very closely. Yeah you gotta go write today's game. You have to go right to the game because you WANNA see. Why were? There's a runway and there were a couple of games where they gave up some some points and you saw some things to come up. And you know the thing about the chiefs I wonder how much of that can be duplicated. Some of the stuff from New Orleans definitely can because New Orleans. This is still more of a pass heavy but it will be interesting to see how they approach This game because defensively. I don't know if they can slow down the forty niners run game uh-huh The run game. That forty nine percent is problematic. Because they can crease you with zone game. They also have the ability used gap scheme where the pulling guards and tackles and all that stuff so kency chief defense has to stand up and they play well against Derrick Henry but this is a different style run game did after I kinda leads right into your point here on the Kansas City side of things is the key. They're the cheese must win on office as we. We made a comparison about candy cheese being elected Golden State Warriors. And the reason. Why I Kinda WanNa make that? Parallel is is because they can play so good on offense that it really makes their defense. A non factor. They can put pressure on you by being able to score points quickly and in a hurry and they can throw you out of your game gets you out of your style. We saw they were down seventeen seven couple of big plays. They're right back in and before you know it the game completely flips lips in their direction. I think in this game one of the things that I would look for. And they haven't used it a lot I would look for them to play more pace and more tempo. I'm not saying that they you know how to hurry up but I think they should play fast to see if they can tire out that defense. Affront what we've been able to see for the forty niners they rotate out. uh-huh keep them fresh. No one is necessarily kept him in the ring and made them go the four five minute round. I would like to see Kansas City and Andy Reid pushed the pace pushed temple a little bit. See if they can wear them out so later in the game net. Pass Rush Peters out then you see Panchmahal begin explore. I think that is the target for Andy. Reid is is trying to figure out. What do I do with this front and I think you mentioned the pace can do it? Andy Reed's.

"And now move the sticks the divisional round with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and read Louis. Hey Hey everybody welcome to the move the sticks takeaway podcast following a terrific divisional round a weekend in the playoffs. Right Lewis here in studio radio with Bucky Brooks. Dj is on his way to Tampa for the East West Shrine game as it is championship week now in the NFL and his all star season is in in College Football Dj in Andrew. Getting Ready Intersil Yano getting ready for the East West Shrine game this Saturday and then Bucky and I in the nightcap this Saturday from the Rose Bowl we'll take the baton for the NFL PA collegiate bowl so we're excited for that. They'll have practices this week. that we're going to be at will actually take our next podcast stuff from the Wednesday practice at the NFL PA game practice in at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. So we're excited for that. But of course we today are taking a look back at the divisional round of the playoffs. We also saw the final head coaching piece. PUT INTO PLACE BY THE CLEVELAND. Browns hiring hiring offense coordinator for the Vikings Kevin's defence. Qui Quick reacts on that before we get into the to the divisional round takeaways. Here Buck. Well I'm not surprised by the canvas defense key higher. Sure if you hear the conversation coming out of the last go round it. He interviewed very well. Any impressed a number of the people in the front office final the final slash year. So I'm not necessarily a surprise. And then when you begin to kind of put the pieces of the puzzle Together and how. The browns are kind of reportedly wanting to move to a more analytical base thing chemist danske pain graduate policy for destiny in a Harvard graduate in their proposed. Angie very also being a Harvard graduate it would would appear to work. I have some questions about how you can put all of those pieces of the puzzle together while also changing the culture. But that's something that chemist fancy Danske can address at his initial press conference. Obviously I plays out. Yeah we'll get into that Who's he going to bring along for his staff? Interesting as well guys that are going to be in that frame of mind and with an analytics background and then of course that leaves a hole for the Vikings to fill perhaps Gary Kubiak to jump into the role their soda. They're also moving on from their defensive coordinator George Edwards there in Minnesota's well so kind of a fresh start at the upper levels of the Vikings coaching staff after their loss to the forty niners. Yeah Yeah like this. Is this the the Kinda crossroads right and the Minnesota Vikings Not only with the coaching staff. You alluded to Kiev Stefanski moved. There probably means Gary Kubiak comes down and takes over over's office coordinator. George Edwards contract wasn't renewed. So Rail Mike Zimmer has to figure out how does he want to handle the defensive coordinator position he is a guy that calls player. So it's not huge deal together that's going to carry the title and do all the stuff takes place behind the scenes and they gotta make some decisions. Asians on players Everson Griffen than some of their other players are up. How since in the last year of his deal now so how did they want to go forward and this is a team that has done? I mean they've kind of done at all. We've seen goes to the championship game. We've seen him bow out early. We seem to get to the division round which they did against the forty niners at just haven't been able to get over the Hump so so major major major decisions. If I'm not mistaken. I think there's something going on with their general manager. Rick Spielman maybe his deal is GonNa go maybe you. Maybe he's about to enter the last year ever so a lot of conversations that need to be had with their front office in terms of what the future looks. Looks like and we'll get into that. Vikings Forty niners game here shortly early but let's begin our division around takeaways with the wild and wacky and one of the most courageous games we've ever ever seen in the postseason the chiefs versus the Texans buggy get started with the chief side. TV stars slow but finished fast goal to go for the chief fleeting forty one thirty one. We have played a minute and three seconds in the fourth quarter. They action fake left side our city in quite a touchdown in his five-year career. Either in the regular season this is his first post-season game what was exciting bill. Also Kelsey cut right. So here's my take away from the chiefs. It's one thing that I've worried about. Having played in the stadium hadn't been apart the chiefs having had the number one seed in home field when you play a home playoff golf game. And you're the favorite and you may be prohibitive favorite. There's a lot of pressure can kind of seep in To the sideline deck in effect you with the Kansas City achieve to one thing that I was worried about is not necessarily them coming off the bye week but they have so many young players. How did they quickly adjust to the playoff environment and atmosphere when you had a week gough? Meanwhile the Houston. Texans have kind of gotten battle-tested because they had that overtime win against the buffalo bills and I think what we saw in the opening quarter we saw all of the nerves. Kinda play out. They had uncharacteristic drops. Behead bad plays turnovers tyreek Hill muffed a punt. All all of the things that we really haven't seen from this team it Kinda played out at I fifteen minutes. They're saving grace and we'll always be there saving grace is they have the office that is is. It's like a video game office like when they get to rolling when when that offense kind of catches fire they can score points in bunches in the fact that they scored was it forty. One straight on forty-one unanswered unanswered points after that that is. I mean that is that you can't even think think about an NFL offense being able to do. So when people make the comparison and I've likened them to the Golden State Warriors of the most recent years where man when the three ball stores going when they get hot. It's good it can run you out the stadium and that's what we saw happen to the Houston Texas to MVP's in this game for the Kansas City chiefs. I am not talking about Patrick Mahomes Travis Kelsey or even Damien Williams Daniel Sorensen McColl Hartman. Yes in this game because it it was about stemming the tide they needed to make some place to stem the tide that the Texans had built in that lead so it started with Daniel Sorensen Lawrenson and it started before the Michael. Michael Hartmann return because Sorenson tackle Duke Johnson. A yard shy of a first down on third and nine. They got eight yards brought up a fourth and one bill. This is when they were up. Twenty one nothing bill. Deepen chiefs territory. Bill O'Brien wanted to go for. Yeah tried to go for dating in the right right personnel or didn't have the right play. Something got screwed up so he called the time out. They ended up having to kick the field goal. They are up twenty four to nothing right so then me Kohl Hartman comes in. They needed a spark and soon kick off after the field goal he goes fifty eight yards right there and now it's like all right. This is is what this is more like us. This is the we're the chiefs. This is what happens. We're exposed to plays fifty nine seconds. Later touchdown was on the you know the juice. It is so funny money because I think what we saw all weekend. The Emotional Ebbs and flows in playoff games at different in a regular season like the highs are so high in the low. Those are so low and sometimes if you don't have a mature enough team to navigate through it you can find yourself on the on the short end of the stick for the Kansas City chiefs. They were Kanada desperate situation when they kick off to Biko Hartman because they try to put re-keeled and that kind of speaks to. That was one of the time before that on the the poverty poverty for return because he's the designated hitter big place where we can put him back daycare. You need a sport he must. That's when we see them kind of run out because the probe over Turner who had done it all year comes back and he breaks off a big return and you can feel the energy and then when it's going to play and now yeah was to snowball effect of. Oh my gosh. What are we GONNA do here? They come here. They can fences feeling they. Force a three and out on the next Texans offensive possession. Then the Texans I'm trying to fake punt on fourth down. What didn't hate it? I didn't eat the book and and I will say this source and again there it is one tackle will against Justin Reed gives them down great tackle because any other situation might Wanna one. That's what you live for in the national four yard. Go make a play go makeup and it wasn't it wasn't always I do understand with bill. O'Brien said Bill. O'Brien said he felt like he had to get out of the stadium with fifty points to get a win. Yeah and so. So he was fifty two overaggressive. Try going forward. But that's stop and once they get A. Ah and you could just kind of feel going once that offense got to rolling a tough so that was the fake punt. Sorenson comes up with the biggest tackle the game right there because if you felt like Houston converted converted. Maybe they stem the tide right because when you looking at the game I think the one thing that you notice very early Houston was playing very deliberate in slow. They were taking the play clock down to under five seconds on each snap they were trying to shorten the Games shrink the game and really put the pressure back on. Kansas City's offense to feel the heat he'd of having to score and having to chase points and that play stem the tide gave it another opportunity to score and then once they seconds later are they scored their second touch once they closed to within what fourteen ten twenty four to fourteen at that point and you can fill villain and then I'm looking at the clock at the end of the second half in the second quarter saying man if Houston doesn't have a drive here because Kansas City got the ball coming back. I'm doing kickoff. They forced sorts enforce another football and then it was twenty four twenty one. And you're like now. It's more than a run that achieved running. Now you're try. And so as well as it played out for the Houston Texas in the first quarter. Everything leads they lose present everything all the momentum all the advantages before you even get into half-time. Yeah they can't seem to get in the ball out you just knew they're going up at that point. It was a runaway. So let's just finish the thought here on this game with the Texan side of things. I have never seen a game. Where special teams had such a huge impact both positively positively or negatively on team's fortunes in a game infects is about to get it back to kick off on our left to right hand and just one short? Here's Carter at the one yard line straight ahead. Five ten fifteen twenty and the ball's out and he's gotTa Props Absentee Woodside the flood on his daddy yard line when topped the ball pop. Why did you his hands and the keys? I go.

"And now move the sticks ten takeaways the wild card round with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and read Louis. What's up everybody? Welcome to move the six. We'll take away podcast here where we've got some wild card games. We're going to break down boys and we also have two pretty big news stories here Off the top of Buck. I'll start with you because you're dressed comfortably as it looks like. He's going to a nightclub over there. How you doing bud? I'm great man I I am absolutely fantastic. Great Walker Weekend The news that has come down to play Guest today has been fantastic with Mike McCarthy and named his cowboys coach and into a coming real. You know here. We go one by the way nightclub or country bar. I can't really see on the video here. Well it's a little Paisley this Lopez Z.. But this is not necessarily shirt just kind of where we're going with it just the the Nice Nice looking shirt You know and that's kind of how I how is as a going to characterize it. It was like it'd be comfortable to be comfortable here. We go host the aftermath for three hours after this so come along if you want. You know you're going to wear that shirt on television. Yeah Yeah Yeah wow well. Dj fashioned me all right. I'll take care of that. Ok stick yeah I will. I love zips. I'm a ironically. I turn down the zips at Akron but I am slipping alright all right. Let's let's get into some of these takeaways here. Buck Let's start with you on this. Well the first one here Big News here to Mike. McCarthy hired is cowboys coach and into a ton of announces. He's going to enter the two thousand twenty draft. Let's start with McCarthy head coach of the Dallas cowboys I saw. You tweeted out that you liked it. What do you like it? I like it because I feel like the cowboys really needed. A leader not necessarily an office a mastermind or a defensive tactician but they needed a guy who had experienced variance who could command the respect of the players and kind of direct them while also having a resume that would make them respect the worst that were coming out of his mouth. And when. You look McCarthy Mike McCarthy is as one over sixty percent of his games he has a super bowl ring he has done a lot of great things As a head coach. And if you go back and I know it Kinda got always at the end of Green Bay but man. They were six seasons where he had double digit wins as a leader. Maybe six or seven eight. So He's won a lot in this league and the one something that the Dallas Cowboys need look they've been mired in kind of like this eight nate phone kind of right in the mix. They need something to help them get over top. I just believe his experience various his know-how and his command room will help them. Squeeze out those two or three wins that they might have lost if they continue to go on down the same bathroom. Jason Jared Dj. I thought it was interesting. the point you brought up on twitter about some of the things that that you've been hearing in your conversations with guys around the League or whether you're hiring McCarthy as in offensive of Guru and what we saw him do with Aaron Rodgers and the packers and guide them to a super bowl win and then or you're hiring him as an experienced head. Coach is a leader. And and did you come up with a consensus there. I think we gotta wait till the press conference when those questions are asked about what direction they're going because the the way the way I look at it as are. Do you want Mike McCarthy to come in and be the driver of your car or do you want Mike McCarthy to move his car from Green Bay and make that your car. There's the difference between those two things there. And that's why I'm fascinated to see what this looks like going forward in that arrangement and what it is you know. We talked about this a little bit earlier. Rhett when we were on a conference call But buck talking to some guys that have experienced in that in that system. And you look at the cowboy system under Lenihan the Lenihan offense offense and the McCarthy offense very similar in terms of his own stuff that they run and scheme wise there's a lot of similarity a lot of carryover. This last year. Kellen Moore added some wrinkles goals from the college game especially in the run game to dress them seeing some things up a little bit And then you hear McCarthy talking about how he spent the last year studying trends and where the League's going and looking at the college game so I'm anxious to see aid is Kellen Moore Survive Be If he does survive is he calling plays and then see What does this offense look like is going to be more of what we saw with McCarthy previously or is this going to be kind of a collection from what we've seen with Callan more what he's in the autumn buck? Here's here's the thing that I was also looking at it because I had that same question like all right Ezekiel Elliott. Isn't anything like anything you've had in green in Bay in those final seasons if you go back to their most successful year with McCarthy in the last you know five was back in two thousand fourteen when they went twelve and four in. Eddie lacy was rookie rookie of the year. He ran for over over a thousand years. Almost eleven hundred yards and nine touchdowns they didn't have a thousand yards a thousand yard rusher in any season after that Eddie lacy he had his his difficulties. Whatever trying to rekindle that success that year but McCarthy we went back and looked at it from the moment he was the head? Coach was first year as head coach in Green Bay in two thousand six to the last they were a sixty forty pass to run team that was fifth most in the League in those those ten plus years ears whatever it ended up being a twelve years from carthy there in Green Bay. I don't think that flies in Dallas. Now again he's had a year off to recalibrate what he wants to do. A head coaching. Obviously you're going to try to make the most out of the pieces that you already have their especially when you have a guy as well compensated in his talented as Kyo Elliot. He's got to be a focal point. But how much I guess is the question there. I think this and I go all the way back to my McCarthy. He was the quarterback coach in Kansas City. When I was playing there Paul Hackett was the offense coordinator. And obviously you can't see the cheese for playing Mardi ball because Marty Schottenheimer was the head coach so he does have an understanding and appreciation for the running game. He also has an appreciation for taking the talent that he has and use it in Green Bay. He'd never had a bill. He never had top tier running back that he could lean on. I think he would tell you if you go back. And you look at the heyday when when Aaron Rodgers was really killing it for them. A lot of it was Jordy Nelson and Look Greg Jennings and James Jones kidding deep off play action if you go back and think about how Aaron Rodgers really used to deal and create. The explosive plays for Green Bay. Play Action Shot. Plays Down to feel I think now with Ezekiel thank you Elliot. He knows that going into the game. He's GonNa get some plus one looks from the defense. Dad is going to give him some single high coverage opportunities and with the Maury Cooper and and I still believe they've got upgrade the receiver core Amari Cooper Michael Gallup on the outside. I do believe he will be able to do some of the stuff that he did. Angry in Bay while also sprinkling in just enough of the new sexy stuff to RPO's and the thing that Dak Prescott has been able to do. I think this offense will kind of be Eh Hodgepodge but at the end of the day is going to be the office that we've always seen from my McCarthy. Well here's one thing on that on that. Run game back up on that because when you look at this run game. They're efficient when they ran the football. You look at Aaron Jones in two thousand seventeen five point five two thousand eighteen five point five Kerry. We've talked did you do time. We'll season he's had he. Aaron Jones is. Here's four point. Six yards a carry. The issue is not whether you're effective run the football. I've just been electing to run the football and I think a big part of that is the fact that Aaron Rodgers has the key to the car when Aaron Rodgers at the line of scrimmage doesn't like he doesn't like he gets out of it and gets the ball out. That's not on the coach. That's it's on. Aaron Rodgers elected to abort the run game throw it. I'm anxious to see. If he may be restrict some of that freedom that he had given Aaron Rodgers with Dak Prescott or at least gets on the same page with him and say hey. Let's let's make sure we are. Our identity is to be physical and run the football. I can't have you constantly checking out all this stuff and I also think the difference is. Let's compare the quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers was the driver of the offense. Aaron Rodgers was the most towns that offensive player that it has so naturally the game she kind of run through him with the Dallas. Dallas cowboys you look at this team. I think we say that Ezekiel Elliott is a guy who should be the focal point. So I think it does change the way as prioritize in the game plan. And you're right and Rogers would kind of go on his own. He would freelance. He would make these checks and adjustments that scrimmage. They may be kept McCarthy from being the balance offense that he envisioned. I think this office is going to be fun. I think the bigger thing that I'm concerned about. What is he going to do with the defense? Is he going to radically overhaul what they've done on defense and my mind. I think the cowboys defense has been fine playing the Tampa to system. And all those other things I would be a little more reluctant reluctant to have radical change on both sides of the ball. I'll be more likely to see if I could keep the defense the same and just kind of tweaked and refined the offense because because look man. Two years ago team wanted to visit I wouldn't I wouldn't go crazy. Overhaul and what the cowboys have been. Is there a chance that the cowboys number one receiver. Her next year is a former member of the Alabama Crimson tide. But Amari Cooper could be. That's that seventeen..

"And now move the sticks. Ken Takeaways from week. Sixteen with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and read Louis. What's up everybody? Welcome to move the six presented by Aarp lucky redback with you a little takeaway podcast boys as a couple days before Christmas. It is before we get to the takeaways block. I need to ask you. Are you done with your shopping. My friend no not at all. I normally don't get started until Christmas Eve so I'm on I'm right I'm right on track. I kind of like to deal with the madness in the chaos of it also. I'll still got another day. I got another twenty four hours to make sure I get everything done. I'll get it done. Yeah I mean. We're basically sending on New Year's New Year's cards for Christmas so we were behind in the Christmas card game so everything is just kind of fallen a few steps steps behind here but yeah it. It's a little delayed. I'll say that first year of my life. I finished my Christmas shopping shopping done. I mean this is like three weeks ago boys three weeks. I've got all this time on my hands. Yes yes you are big black Friday myself on a little trip. I was what I would. No I was with my daughter and a little college visit and we had a little time before flight before we were gonNA come home and I said let's hit them all. Hit them all in the middle of the day there was nobody there Bing Bang boom done look this curve tag. Goals right died so we tend takeaways the eleven takeaways. You guys have a lot of shopping left to do but I'll start off with our our first takeaway here and that's the game I attended and the big takeaway there. Hey somehow some way the I got to say this right. The Oakland Raiders. Soon to be Las Vegas Raiders. Were still alive can take this opening drive in the second half into the end zone. Washy you did them. Fresh back touch zone touchdown readers opening drive third quarter staying alive. That's the theme. Today and raiders are staying alive so far all four other things that had to happen today happen to now. The raiders win this and they'll go to Denver mark with a chance to be succeed in the AFC. Wow Oh there you go brent musburger. He said it best. They're staying alive by the. Oh I got a chance to meet Brent Musburger for the first time nice gentleman so that was Kinda cool up there in the in the press box item on our Our pregame show their guys this game to me. Was Line of scrimmage game game and the raiders controlled the line of scrimmage. They run the ball a little bit. The chargers could not get any run game established whatsoever and the chargers decided they were gonNA play a lot of soft zone and and that was Christmas camp come early Derek Carr because he took one check down after another and move the ball right down the field You look at his drive thirty pretty. Yeah long drive to six yards at the time I mean just taking those all spot routes flat routes just one after another after another after another and they rack crackup some yards after catch and that was pretty much it. The chargers could not get anything going offensively. But Cleveland feral. He has one sack against the rest of the league this this year. He's got three and a half against the chargers. Joyce plan the bolts. Dj's funny you talked about the Ding Dong game. Derek Carr was excel excelling in when you look at the rate as office. Jon Gruden this is actually how he wants to play even though there's kind of this reputation that kind of precedes him about about being like this high powered offensive mind. He is really wants to run the ball. He wants having efficient passing game and he wants to control the ball and retain possession. And just were you out over time. I felt like this was a kind of game that embodied who he wants to rate is to be this year and going forward so you were talking about the the four things or Musburger was talking about the four things that needed to happen. In addition to the raiders winning over the chargers they needed Tennessee to lose check. They need Pittsburgh Berg to lose to the jets check. They need Cleveland. WHO's the ravens check? They need Jacksonville to lose to Atlanta Chit Chit Chat check now. There's still a few things things that need to happen. Let's just for the sake of being thorough run through that. Tennessee has to lose to Houston in week. Seventeen is that going to happen okay. Maybe let's see Pittsburgh needs to lose Baltimore. Rg Three quarterback and RG. Three right. Right okay it could happen INDIANAP- Baltimore still beat him. Okay Indianapolis needs to beat Jacksonville. Based on the way the team played in week sixteen. You'd say give the colts that one. Okay Oakland that needs to win in Denver. That's no given either Denver's defense has been playing well. And then because of strength of victory victory one of the following four things need to happen either the the lines need to beat the packers or tie them this. Having the a bears need to beat the Vikings or tie them This to the Patriots the Patriots need to beat the dolphins in Foxborough. Borough just happened that well I just wanted owned as a drama drama them on also. The chargers could beat or tie the chiefs if you want. Dj If you wanted to leave without one chiefs yeah so it'd be pretty cool but if you're rolling one right now. I don't see that happening. All of that is very doable. For the raiders which is kind of fun heading into week. Seventeen very doable man. Maybe pull out my old raiders t shirt because it into the play. Let's let's go biles like it. Sounds like it all right. It was funny. That's great it was a it was a fun fun. visit with Mayock by the way before the game and then take him at halftime techs after the ball game though and he said like I think he was like somehow some way still alive still ticking live to see another day here so I love it good for them. All right. Let's get to the next takeaway book. Patriots are revealed their playoff identity fourth and goal for the teen. The which is coming Allen running for his life lobster the back of the end zone. A man there and expect down it could bleep. KC Jackson breaks it up with a quarter of the end zone knocking it away from whole Beasley that should be enough to give it away. England patriots straight. AFC STEIDL man. The Patriots just continue to amaze me the way they kind of changed their identity Particularly to any you're going into the postseason They figured out that they need to run the ball Sony. Michelle was a major factor actor in this game against Buffalo. You almost have one hundred yards. You see him get twenty plus carries you see rex. burkhead come in and chip in a little bit and then in the passing game. It's either spread and shred with Tom. Brady way spreads amount empty formation. Ball comes out quick or they play action they take us down to feel this other pacers did it the year ago and it helped him win. The Super Bowl is the way they're going to do it this postseason because they know their defense their special teams will set them up for scoring opportunities Sunnis. They just know they need their offense to get to twenty four they get the twenty four points. I don't know if anyone is going to be able to beat them INFO sees boys. I I look look at it. I put together a little a little checklist here for the Patriots to win Games in the postseason with their current roster and the way they play Here we go New England run game as Bucky mentioned efficient efficient quick game sprinkle in trick play. That's coming at some point in time. They're going to win the turnover battle because they're going to protect it. They're going to try and take it away and then they're going GonNa have one impact special teams play. That might be a blocked. Kick Mukubi along return but just one impact play on special teams. And that's a checklist and they're pretty good about it man when they know they're formula and how they need to do it. They're pretty efficient getting that done. It's not easy on the eyes Rhett but they still have a former. They could march right back to the super. Both there's still not a ton of trust from Brady would seem outside battlement in the running backs but he's probably I mean it's for good reason.

"And now move the sticks ten takeaways from week fourteen with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and read. Louis what's up everybody. Welcome to move the six percent by. Aarp it's Donald Jeremiah. Lewis our buddy bucky brooks is over in London. Read right so he'll be joining sprinkle it in a couple of his takeaways from the weekend. How you doing man? I'm doing awesome Great to have bucky dish in the knowledge. Internationally again this week excited to have him In his two takeaways here and look man. This is a this was I called it on Game Day live yesterday on. NFL Network the best Sunday of NFL football the season and it happened yesterday. Awesome man it was so much fun to be a bar. I don't think that's I don't think I don't think that's a hot ticket. It's not reality. It's what I give you. Fax Ax Baxter Go. He's the facts man. That's just the facts all right. Let's let's jump into the takeaways here to get to in all this off big game game big win taking place in the NFC west. The rams they have some balance on offense jared Goff under looking to build on a twenty one to nine lead. He gives the girl he tries the left side to the perimeter fishes stiff arm and he does his feet touchdown. Todd Gurley touchdown. La with eleven. Oh seven ago. Regulation Twenty seven nine and poor girlie. It's his twelve touchdown in nine nine games against the seahawks. Well there you go todd. Gurley get done on. The ground ended up. Twenty three for seventy nine caught four balls for thirty four yards but to me Rhett in the balance. What's came off of that because then you start getting that boot game? which is so dangerous with jared? Goff it's where he's at his best. In my opinion you get him on the boot on the move left or right doesn't matter but they get those level concepts going where you've got three levels. He's got clear sight lines. Easy reads any puts the ball right where it needs to be and those are tough to defend right for defense. I was just watching. A couple uploaded plays that you sent me on one of them. You got three guys chasing the deep throw. which didn't even look like it was really a part of the progression at that point? And then you got you know. Then you've got two guys who are trying to cover one and then you get the middle level sneaking out Robert Woods that was there for a big gain on one of those plays. I mean that's that is really tough to defend and then the other thing that I noticed in this game was we got the receiver. Run game going once again for the rams they leave league waiting for that. Yeah and then we'd five carries from. I'm Josh Reynolds and Robert Woodson Win for nearly sixty are almost. All of them went for first downs. Those are big time. Plays even if they're just five of them. I mean that was that was impressive. Yeah one thing on the other side quandary digs looking like a pretty good pickup. I know that it win this football. But a nice trade for the Seattle seahawks he goes and gets to pick. He's been lights out since he showed up in Seattle but really really just just disappointed overall. Seattle offense couldn't get anything going to protect the quarterback and they they really it wasn't really contested game. The Rams has kind of put it on mm-hmm right and the rams defense has been very jekyll and Hyde this year. We've had some really good games. And then some games that they just get dominated like we saw against Baltimore but this time in this game they got the rams defense deepens got off the field seventy percent of the time against Russell Wilson in the dual threat that he poses. I think that's pretty impressive. And a big reason why why they were able to limit what the doing on offense are no doubt well for our next take take go to Bucky. And he's got a little something on a rookie. quarterback drew drew lock gives the DENVER broncos juice Texans will rush four shot goes net walks looking into the end zone passes. Thought Noah fat touchdown Denver Noah Fan with the touchdown reception his third of the season. When you look at the rookie quarterback and how he is performed for the Denver broncos? You have to be impressed three hundred your day three touchdowns and I think the thing that is most impressive about lock is the energy that he is brought to. The team is where his confidence is ability to inspire his teammates. That is exactly what you look for a franchise quarterback we we talk about it all the time. A franchise quarterback gives your team hope is given a Denver Broncos hope by the way is performed. If the Broncos keep this up I think the rolling into twenty twenty with a lot of confidence did he got a QB. One bucky makes some great points there in a couple of things I wanNA remind people about drew. Lock this guy started. Forty Forty Plus Games in the SEC. So got a lot of experience playing gets high level competition and look at the amount of time. He was allowed to sit because of that thumb injury throughout the beginning of his rookie campaign. So you've got a lot of snaps but then you've also got that adjustment period. Every rookie quarterback has he had the benefit of sitting watching really really learning this system. I'm an bucket used that word kind of swagger that confidence you could see it. After every touchdown he was John with the Houston. Texans he was feeling a little bit and I love to me. You can't can't be too confident as a young quarterback give me all that swagger. Give me all that confidence. Well it looks like he's also bringing out the best in his fellow rookie in Noah Fan. And that's encourage you see see so now. Let's just take a quick look back at the two thousand nine hundred draft class here for the Broncos you got no offense who they traded back with Pittsburgh and we're still we thought they might take mm-hmm at ten million of going back to twenty and getting fan and he's he's had an up and down season but look. These last couple of games have been noteworthy in terms of progress with drew. Lock and then you got dealt and Reisner who started every single game for them along the offensive line. This year was there was another second round pick right and then they go and get dream on Jones later he you know look he had. Some injury got injured in this game. But in the last seven like since week seven he'd been a part of their rotation those first four picks you feel pretty good about that moving forward in for a team. That's Kinda struggled in terms of big time draft classes in the last couple years. That's again some signs of life in a season that we thought was lost and don't forget their first round pick from last year. Bradley chose Mister Season so get him back. Next year is really one of the best young passers in the NFL team. Backup with von Miller. So some hope some optimism there on the horizon for the Denver broncos in their organization. Looks like maybe they finally figured out this whole quarterback thing. What do you got next next up? Even it'll win. The browns loose Hayfield shotgun snap back. Settles looks up in the pocket runs left to the corner. He's GonNa tatty the five he ducks around the no do touchdown Baker Mayfield. What a job is body Garamba Rob Pylon and he runs it in from seven yards so in a game where we should be talking about? A Brown's victory history Baker Mayfield rushing touchdown in the rushing attack as a whole really coming in and kind of proving and picking up where they left off from a year ago when the kind of caught fire late in the season instead we are talking about another installment of Cleveland drama. I'd say that you know wasn't handle He's not able to run as well as he should be able to As well as he knows and that's frustrating for him It's you can sense. That's somebody's frustration. Where that comes from so wouldn't handle the right way and our training room so We'll it is what it is and so his not one hundred percent one is still good enough for us. So that's Baker. Mayfield talking about the report that came out four the game. That Odell Beckham has been dealing with a sports hernia injury since training camp. Yep and one of the reasons why we haven't seen him take off this season for Cleveland and then he says inadvertently throwing the training staff under the bus us for their mishandling of the whole situation. Do want to mention. He did come out and clarify his remarks and apologise. He wasn't trying to again. Take shots at anybody within within the organization but again this is this was after a win. And this is what we're talking about here this after a win. And this is not the first time and I wanna just read to you a couple of headlines that I saw in Cleveland Dot com today again after a win this is what is Cleveland Brown beats. Cleveland Browns beat Cincinnati Bengals but but uneasiness lingers another headline browns of.

"And now move the sticks the ten takeaways cast with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and a man Tuxedo shirt in win wearing sweatpants rent Lewis Ohio was yes he does we have evidence there it is right there on here you definitely unbelievable sweatpants that is unacceptable by the way I love you know what like to keep it comfy no draft at home you don't want to get it gets drafty sometimes with the AC on Gosh great but we're going to have to have Canaan Iron Habitat this we already have all the that we already have all the other jewelry such good it's already it's already not all right buddy GonNa join us in just a few minutes here but we can get started on the takeaway I'll start us off ten takeaways let's start here with a guy who had probably the best performance of the weekend that's Aaron Rodgers and I went with the with the city of Roger that receivers now they get motioned Farside pylon three yard touchdown pass Eric Harris Beaten on the play the packers extend to thirty four seventeen lead wow I have pretty revolutionary take here it's pretty revolutionary it's a deep football thought but if you cannot get in the pressure on Aaron Rodgers you will get torched and this was a scenario of a of a raiders team I think a good football team with one fatal flaw in that fatal laws they can't Russia the quarterback and if you can't rush the quarterback I don't care if if you put Brett farve out there with a bunch of highschool receivers he is going to torture you and that's exactly what he dead now they found a way to spread it around but if you look at all the big plays in this game the pockets were pristine they just couldn't get the rogers yeah didn't Max crosby get him once crosby's and then did the discount double check after it and then it was like Oh that's GonNa that's GonNa come back to bite you my friend but yeah it looks like the raiders is not wise definitely still have a long way to go in in terms of upping their pass rush production despite the selection of the Cleveland feral and then crosby and those guys I mean look they're getting her at it but it's clearly not where it needs to be just yet and the two words slash one phrase that I have after watching this game is like if this is the type of passing the production that the packers are capable of now with this leflore offense everyone's going to be in trouble because the packers are eighteen to be reckoned with in that now I will say the one thing that will save for the raiders. Dj on the bright side just Jacobs looks like the Real Josh Jacobs baby yeah that's right he looks like the right here I'm not getting as much grief about about that great for some reason a lot of people that are in the draft process like give me some grief on here from one hundred twenty four yards yesterday almost six yards of pop and a couple of those he made him dudes miss in a big way multiple times on the same play so there you go so he's a good player she was going to keep us rolling here and I'll go to the rams and their defense helping to stem the losing ride snap back to Ryan on second intent pressuring his face this time he'll eat it back at the twenty one Dante Fowler missed on I drive this time he made sure to Rag Ryan down so Dante three sacks in this game earned donald had one and I wrote this I was I was watching these sacks I go right tackle got one left guard got one all right guard right tackle again left tackle Jake Matthews you have some two and then Oh left guard you're not the only one that's been beaten multiple times in a game by Aaron Donald maybe except for Alex Mack got beat a bunch of times falcons offensive line and so the Saxon were one thing the turnovers were another thing the rams the team had been minus three in the turnover differential in their three game losing streak in this game they flip it to plus three so you know they had Jalen Ramsey come up with the force fumble on Devante Freeman Then you had to strip sacked from Aaron Donald and then you had the turnover late in a game that ended up in a touchdown I think it was a special teams play right was a punt return so look their defense stepped up in a big way you answer me this do you buy into the fact that if you're if you're a player in that defense or player that rams in general and you see your front office go out and make a move like that to bring in one of the elite players in football and Jalen Ramsey that that hasn't act on you in a way especially on defense if you're a player on that side no I think it shows you that you're in you know gives you I think there's just a sense of urgency there that hey this is our time now we might have sacrificed a little bit in the future with this with some of these draft picks but this is this is our time right now we're coming off a super bowl parents it's time to get rolling and let's be honest if you WANNA get role on a trip to to Atlanta's pretty good place to start I mean once again no sacks for this team I mean they they hit the quarterback three times which is gives them four total quarterback hits over the last three weeks and then you just talked about it with the first point with the raiders. If you can't get after the quarterback it's impossible to win in this league it's just not going to happen and Vic Beasley apparently he's been told he's on the trading block but like who's that WHO's going to go out he's going to go out and spend a bunch of resources for guy who can't get any pressure then do anything that doesn't do anything confirm that they've they've made those calls so I mean are there now you've seen a guy who obviously always had the ability is really blossoming in a new environment there with the ramp so I would imagine somebody will do it I don't imagine it'll fetch a big return there but man it's it's definitely helped get the rams back on the right track no question and get their offense and jared goff playing at a high level they've they've got a chance to make a deep run all right let's go to the next one here let's see go to Minnesota and there's balance in the force Adam feeling motions to the right hand off those two madison no bootleg cousins yeah they're rolling right now in Minnesota Rhett and they've really when I just look for words how would I describe this football team that's why I use the word balance I think when you look at what they're getting out of the passing game now especially since Kirk cousins was Kinda cold out of the last so now he's got ten touchdowns one pick over the last three games our in the ball up in the air each game he's gone over three hundred yards the the average yards per temp eleven point eleven point five nine point nine so they're getting big explosive chunk place they can run the ball with Alvin Cook obviously the past game works well off that they've got a front that's physical enough they can get after you in the run game and they've got pass rushers they've got a secondary with a lot of depth and talent there I just think when you're talking about complete football teams with kirk cousins playing like this this might be the most complete team in the NFL you might be right because we saw what they're capable of the run game early on and now I feel like it's just it's just now as you mentioned with the balance it's become more impressive and I was at the comments was it was it Adam feeling and stuff on digs or did Stefanski message did Mike Zimmer kind of loosen the grip on saying hey let's run run run awfully darn coincidence but it has changed it's those comments were made it absolutely has an Kirk is playing you liked that kirk cousins like he's playing with that type of confidence and that type of aggressive live nature throwing the ball down the field I mean like I go back to late in the game and it's a it's like a short yard situation and they get Stefan digs free down the field in cousins takes that shot and they get it and they convert you know that's really interesting to me play action.

I'm fine what happened wins talk talk talk about a game this weekend thousand but other games what are we talking about good question what are we talking so as a little kid is like a little kid who's like I didn't want that anyway very happy you didn't get the Christmas present that you WanNa die every one of the Nintendo my friends I'll have it this goes on is clemson week I don't know what it is is Clemson Clemson twenty four hour rule thirty okay okay thirty one to thirty one I almost got a t art I almost got a t shirt made thirty four thirty one but coach coach you coach sizes address or whatever I make sure oh wow I gave him I gave him really gave him he sent me a Texas morning alleging quits sent me a Texas more than an APP state head coach and he wanted the address I so I gave him my just because I said I want to deliver the shirt to bucky person Oh yes he was checking on though he cared about you wanted to do he's very he's very caring and excited via twitter Uber driver Albert is just devastated because yeah thanks a lot of tar heels he did yeah my way of the airport on you see that video buck yeah I feel red supergiant we're going to get the mountaineers I know what Albert I told you be careful you get in the car with Albert Straight he was yeah I'm with you I'm with you but anyway I've you know I feel good about the way that this game because I was going to pick out sorry buck I just I felt like they were going to get the win I don't mean the winningest team in the state they should have been favorite I don't understand I really don't understand the excitement you should too and ten team that we were last year like what is that we have bigger fish to fry but I get it I can't wait for that next I can't wait for that next generation running children that grow up and they watched that game say dad one day I want to go play for those mayors all right here's a fool black and gold like a little section in the corner of Keenan state and they were all over the place like like a little I know Carolina fans there did they think you guys were doing a basketball game or something I don't know what they were doing the team at halftime or something we've been known to do that in certain games like we've known to have introductions of the basketball team and the thing like the championship? Well there's a reason we do march madness after the after homecoming march madness I mean midnight madness you know the first practice right we do that after football homecoming we we've we've been known to do that Fisa sleepy game we had known to have a midnight Roy sure sure late night Chrissy call it well let's let's jump into our takeaways from the NFL weekend here a couple of news items we don't spend any time on these I think everybody knows about them but Saquon Barkley he's going to be out for a little while with a high ankle sprain hate to see Kiana Neil the again his season ended look like him Yeah Falcons team that's are there in rough shape right now for John O'Neill that's going to be tough to come back so we'll get to that down the line but let's let's start off with our first one I always do from the game that I tend with the charts offers and this was the game against Texas a big win for the Texans and my takeaway was wow this is a much improved offensive line anti for Watson she left under pressure breaks Melvin Ingram tackle again in wide open has decided Aitken's it's going to be a sprint to the end zone ten five taxes that is all to Shawn Watson what a play to get out of the grasp of Melvin that was one of the few times the chargers actually had to Shawn Watson in their grasp because this new look offensive line will Laremy Tunsil at left tackle who played a phenomenal game against the against Bosa Ingram played really well Titus Howard the rookie their first round pick switched from left guard out to right tackle in this game and they included another rookie Mac Scharping in it off guard and this constitutes a brand new look for this Texans offensive line and you guys remember the team was Hannibal these to say I love it when a plan comes together other and I think Bill O'Brien could kinda see this offensive line starting to form a little bit and Buck This team with protection when you've got a quarterback Shawn Watson and you've got Hopkins and the speed they have too dangerous bunch dangerous I'll be the first one to say that some criticism Bill O'Brien when he kind of took over and became the dictator of the Texans Franchise because I worried about they're not being checks and balances system we saw someone to trays that were made some of those trades were very very expensive terms what the Texans gave up to get back first round pick to come get Laremy Tunsil but as you said this office of line looks vastly different like very improved the job protect and John Watson and when Watson is protected he can make plays we also criticized him for letting go over Davy and cloudy and really paying part of it salary and taking back what we saw basically spare parts but sometimes coaches no because the around the building around the team to know exactly what their teams needs and Bill O'Brien to this point he's really gotten a right because the pieces that they've gotten back certainly helped him and the offensive line is an office a line that he can trust and that allows him to really trust this franchise quarterback did titus look better at right tackle and he did it left guard in the first two weeks much better much better everything happens so fast when removed inside he's attack on they were just trying to get him on the field so they started them off guard but having him at tackle and he he held up pretty well and there's a couple of times Ingram got him a couple times look overall yeah since since two Shawn Watson has been there to have Laremy Tunsil and Titus Howard by far the most talented book and nichols that he's had they're working together so it's a it's a good sign for Texas now there's other takeaways we could take from that game they're seconds very good that's going to be an issue for them down the road right but good start there for this offensive line getting their first start together Vuk you got our next takeaway cook show is real toss right Galvin Cook it's a block Jay Ham cook a one yard touchdown by Dalvin Cook Galvin leads the NFL rushing touchdowns a Dj we we said it went down McCook was coming out that we thought he has some special qualities and I think those qualities have been enhanced think they've been showcase in this offense that has been heavily influenced by Gary Kubiak this zone since awesome that really allows data cooked do what he's always been able to do effectively which is kinda stretch it to the edge put his foot in the ground and make cut he is killing it three straight one hundred yard game Yeah and the efficiency that we're seeing from him sixteen carries and ten rushing yards the way that he is playing man I think the Minnesota Vikings and really hitched their wagon to him and really let him kind of carry the office and then when you look out on the parameter Stefan digs and Adam feeling they have a lot of weapons air yet we haven't gotten there that this is a very very scary Minnesota Vikings team that has kind of come together so for Cook for me it was run that that kind of painted the picture of his entire season this year it was a sixteen yard run on second fifteen to cuts he made in I'm talking about like a two square yard box and the power after those cuts to push forward for another five yards to get the first down it was like all right this dude is all the way back and that's why we were talking about him as the potential the the first running back that year in the draft even though slipped all the way to the second sick and some of that a lot of the had to do a character yeah but when you watch him play you knew yet the ability when he has the ball his hand to kind of be a game changer and seven yards a carry I mean he is absolutely rushing it in this office and is only going to get better because we have seen would running backs and Gary Kubiak system have been able to do go to it God we back to td and how they ran Mike Shanahan system but then go to Houston with Arian Foster and the guys that play there he is going to be a handful because assistant stretches the defense horizontally any such good vision and cutting ability that man he exploit those creases in the US in the off season is Sessia Rosser here real quick you want to assess your roster and figure out your formula how you win football games last year this Minnesota Vikings team was thirtieth in the League in rushing ninety three point three yards per game right now they're second in the NFL hundred ninety three yards they knew they had to take that pressure off their quarterback kirk cousins in order for them to get the right mix the right formula to work they went out and got the right coach they're they've they're given the board of their best player and Alvin Cook and they've got this thing role in that is there formula for this football team With the and it's working out for sure and I I can't wait to see what the play action game developed into for the rest of the season we hardly seen much from Stefan digs in this whole season so there's still some pe- attention there I'll give this number three here there is nowhere left to turn for this falcons defense for Senator The gun rolls to the right side looking looking throws fires all right so look last year it was injuries right I mean that was built in Mulligan beyond Jones was down for most of the season county neal was down in week one they were thin in the secondary Ricardo Allen went down as well so you like all right well let's let's see what happens when they get back healthy right well Dan Quinn fires marquand manuals defensive coordinator takes over the defensive defensive play calling a man as listener Jacoby with prime last night he bought he got the call and he was talking about how man they they're receivers won one match ups and they played a ton of soft zone obvious I kind of get that you don't WanNa let t y Hilton get behind you but man they had the falcons ahead receivers running wide open all over the place Eric Brown on the thirty yard catch zero resistance going across the field wide open and a next gen stats this is up on this one in fact I was just looking at it here they had the lead the lead the League not just this past week they lead the League in wide receivers open targets in the highest percentage twenty seven percent of targets that opponents throw against them are wide open there's a problem that's bad news that is a problem that's not great and I will say this I was disappointed when deke fired marquand manual marco manual in my estimation was a young star in the making at the defensive coordinator position not only because we drafted missy I don't get a chance to know him but just watching how those guys played and so when d- Q. Removed he really put himself kind of front Senate when it came to being responsible for this defense so now you look in the mirror there's nowhere else to go where else do you turn your the head coach and you're now the offensive coordinator and the defense is really bleeding imagery hemorrhaging when when it comes to their ability to stop people in I don't know what the answers are I don't know there he goes to find a solution because losing players and so now it comes down to what can you scheme up what can you change I mean you can talk to him about playing heart but answers does have to solve the problem I don't know I don't know if he can solve this and it's unfortunate too because when you look inside this division and you see the injury to drew brees Kinda crap you know for a team like Atlanta to go make that happen and it looks like to me when you when you watch them play they're just gonNa have to find their way to win shootouts. I mean it's it's where they are in whether that's personnel really playcalling related I'm sure people argue about that but to me this is this team score score thirty five forty points to football games I am with the in one one last thing looking on that touchdown pass the Zach Pascal I mean is like a Red Zone route combination beautiful they were running a cover three defense Atlanta was in two two guys ran after the flat route and it's like Golly and just left Pascal wide open so maybe they can figure it out but it doesn't look good right now we'll see I guess you look at it maybe thirty points I can lower my expectations.

"And now move the sticks the ten takeaways podcast with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and true Gamer Who is powering through an uber induced thumb injury Red Lewis Wow oh yeah we're back it is it is from scouts oh Mike we know how to dig on back what did you do with the guy rolled up my thumb in the window as it was opening a door like I mean and then he thought I was kidding when I was yelling so he just left it there and it's like I had to like reach through with my other hand and roll down myself I still can't feel my thumb now you know I'm in better shape than drew brees is right now the drew brees it's going to lead us right and cheese the top of the show here by the we've got our takeaways coming up a buck is gonNA join us in a little bit via traveling he's coming in driving and so we're going to get a couple takeaways from him here in a little bit lot to get to talking about these games and our big takeaways but before we get to those takeaways and now that we've solved the mystery of you got hurt Uber the big news obviously drew brees Witham looks like a surgery talking I guess timelines so far yeah I think I saw Chris Morrison Saved six weeks I guess is what she swells Ben with an elbow Yeah Big Ben with an elbow injury to see decision to make Ted day I guess whether or not he's going to have surgery so pretty never get I would say with those two guys huge and look I watched really kind of from beginning to end on the Saints Rams Game Obviously one of the more only match ups of the day coming in and I mean just seeing that for drew I mean like he was you know obviously just so visibly distraught you didn't know what to do with himself on the sideline you know guys we missed one game in thirteen years with the saints so that one to me is a little more disturbing because of well you know just how much they were lie on drew brees whereas Mason Rudolph come in and play pretty well for the steelers the interception was was all on Dante Moncrieff if you're asking me come on liquor how how many yards were the flicker Iowa is what it is through Nice Nice touchdown pass to well hey he's GonNa get his Opportunity Mason Rudolph easy to root for he's such a good dude what makes us see what he does thanks going to get a chance to it looks like potentially for awhile and then just started just back on breezy row quick look if I'm if I'm Sean Payton and all due respect to teddy bridgewater but I'm considering tastes hill tastes the hill this thing I mean I doubt and they've got a defense yeah they've got a defense that can keep you in games so to me I think you more to me altered the offense towards towards t to me that'd be tempting Michael Thomas won't like it but that would be something I would consider because you can just try and run the ball play great defense and hold it on the fourteenth breeze comes back right and so that look the only problem in look it's not it's not true problem if you're going to say we're gonNA roll the taste and mill but look the guy's a correspondent he's on every special team right he's out to figure that out too and then he's he's still a big part of the offense outside of the fact you know if he wasn't playing quarterback so then you've got to kind of scrap that whole side things and then yeah as you said just completely remould what they wanna do but it might be worth it kind of drew switching over the steelers I know this is obviously we are very early on in the season but man this I know if you got the injury now and you just look at kind of where this team is is situated you're in that Division Baltimore team it's to know you've got Pittsburgh at Oh in to the bengals in to the browns with a big game against the jets they should win you assume they'd be they'd be one in one but it looks like Baltimore's got a chance to run away hi inside this division and Pittsburgh steelers I don't know if you could think of a worse start for this team and when you look what they have coming up at the forty niners who are to an old plane football right now the bengals at home which is always a a rivalry game there which you know we'll see what happens then they go ravens at charger so they could get away from the steelers real quick especially with this injury rothlisberger well and the other thing we'll just have to keep monitoring I mean I'm looking at eighty one rushing yards for the steelers this one I'm a possession they got dominated in this game just twenty four minutes for the steelers you know and again the the thing I was talking about for monitoring is the Mike much effect is that still going to play a part you know as we continue down this down this season so yeah man they've got a tough stretch ahead let's jump into these takeaways here I'll start us off the game that I was at the lions were saved by Red Zone defense snap.
