"And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks. What's up everybody DJ Bucky here move the sticks presented by Zach's B.'s buck how you doing man I'm good I'm good is nearly into we get ready for the weekend Thursday night Thursday night football game, tonight Jaguars, and Dolphins in English Nice slate of games this weekend. Yeah that's kind of where we're GONNA. Go days is talking about the game coming up on Monday night with the chiefs and Ravens and kind of looking at those quarterbacks and how that's changed scouting as we as we go forward as well as just some of the overall play received from young quarterbacks around the NFL. By I do emphasize sale. I'm looking at the schedule. We've got some SEC football, this this moonlight up about as well book. Conference anyone who has been in business understands how the SEC is revered in war rooms around the league and so yeah, there are a lot of people tune in because Potentially, we could have opportunity see ten conference games. There are a lot of people that it'd be paying close attention to what's going on down the SEC yellow on good football, which is great for us when we look at this game in particular here, chiefs in Ravens coming up Monday night based game of the year on the NFL schedule played a couple of great games already but we'll look at the quarterbacks specifically we've talked about them individually in the past but. Have you seen kind of a change in the position and in what teams are looking for since we've seen the these two guys I. Mean Dj on we've had these conversations like I think the change has been obvious i. think there's been a greater emphasis placed on athleticism the ability to create an extent plays with your feet. If you have legitimate running skills that is. A skilled that has been celebrated even enhanced in the National Football League in. So we're seeing a set a different playmaker at the position whereas ten fifteen twenty years ago. We wouldn't necessarily have those guys rated at the top of the board because back. Then early two thousands it was still about fitting the quarterback into the office coordinator system. Now, about the office coordinated, building a system around the talents of the quarterback and so when you have that difference in philosophical change up top and then you see how these young quarterbacks had been thrive thriving. Levels I think it makes sense to try and meet them halfway especially under the premise that the biggest and best championship window is when you're young quarterback is playing on a rookie deal and so that really changed. The game and that has made it where you had to be more dabble and flexible not only who you pick how you play them. When you do get them into program one of the things I've learned from these guys is There's a couple things that can be improved when you get to the next level and I think sometimes we used to have these arguments right? Can you improve your accuracy now when you get to the NFL a lot of times a lot of people say, no are what you are..

"And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks. What's up? Everybody DJ Bucky back here move the sticks buck how you doing. Good. We're getting close like seasons around the corner we're seeing all these moves. Cut Weekend is coming. So everyone is getting down I think is beginning to really feel like the season's about the off and I'm excited about yeah it's great man we are. Knocking on the door of the regular season and it finally starting to feel like normal. But, now you're gonNA have kind of that final roster cutdown, which is something we see each and every year coleman the waiver wire. See if you can upgrade the back end of your roster, a lot of teams will be doing that without the convenience of having seen these guys in the in the pre season. This is a topic actually going to touch on with our guest today Mike Mayock, general manager, the Las Vegas. Raiders going to join US get a chance to talk to Mike about some of the unique challenges that you face this year and in this period of time. Trying to trying to build your roster, but it does doesn't it feel like what the start of the season is crazy as everything's been over the last six months in the world that? kind of normal right now, like we're kinda getting that build up. For first game. A do think it feels normal. What was weird DJ, without like having preseason games and so so many other things like my body clock is just thrown out of whack to think that is Labor Day weekend coming up I had no sense of all this weekend because we haven't gone through the normal things that we normally would go through and we go through all these preseason games we were talking about college football. We see some college football kind of bubbling up and filtering out, and because of that we we just are off and so it would be great to get back into our normal routine with the NFL season in games and just kind of. Getting. Back to yeah and I think I'm allowed to announce us we are going to. Crank out our three podcasts a week like we've done during the fall in the past. So that's coming in and included in that is going to be our takeaway podcasts, which we will do Monday morning. After we've had a chance to watch the tape, we'll bring in our buddy. Everything is good I'm excited to talk a little ball with you. Yeah. I'm excited. Talk with you excited to have our good buddy. joined the show today, and this is a conversation I think everybody's GonNa. Really enjoy kind of piggybacks what we were talking about the other day about the possibilities of spring, football and everything that's going on with with ninety and how these colleges are adjusting where things stand, there's no better person to talk to than our good friend. Bruce Feldman so today's episode is going to be that conversation and I. Hope You guys enjoy it. Here's our chat with Bruce. While buck excited to have our good friend. Bruce Feldman from Fox. Joining the show today Bruce. We've been a lot more conversations lately. Kind of off the air, just kind of checking in with one another to find out what's going on in the the football landscape right now. Can you kind of give us the thirty thousand foot view here of where things stand? Yeah, it's getting to be I. Think in the last two weeks. I think a lot of people inside. Inside the sport had become a lot more pessimistic. Quite honestly talking to a they've found is a lot of programs at had players that were fine in the facility, but then you'd have a bunch of guys. Go Play Madden. Get together. There'd be an outbreak. You guys go to a pool party. There'd be an outbreak. You guys go hit the bars, same story, and so from talking a lot of coaches because you'll even as we're taping this Oklahoma. Tested a whole bunch of players and there were no positive. It's a really good sign. Notre Dame was similar and there's a handful Michigan. State's numbers were good. But not everybody's not releasing their not numbers and full disclosure, and also I think it's those schools that have had it. The players haven't quite honestly taken it that seriously, and so in a d in The sec told me about a week. The problem is a lot of people have not taken this seriously enough. Especially eighteen to twenty two year olds and that's been wearing. Issue is, and the question is GonNa be the the numbers are high in a lot of places, and they haven't even done any football stuff. This is working out in small groups. It's not like they're doing nine seven drill. What's going to happen then? What's going to happen when they're around more? People on the campus. The cases are higher. That doesn't bode well, so everybody's kind of a wait and see mode. We'll see what happens by the end of this month, though hope to have a better picture on where they think they can hope to be for the fall. Rusen in about it because I know you've also talked to coaches. How're coaches even attempting to craft practice plans schedules in calendar where we haven't even really begin to progress out of the small pods when it comes to just working on the weight room. Right and some of them have talked about. We may have to stagger. Stagger how we do it in small groups. Maybe we don't have our. You know. Think about it this way. What happens if you're if you get an outbreak in your quarterback room? I'm a quarantine. That's three games. How's that GonNa work right so I think there's a lot of..

"And now sticks the Super Bowl with Daniel Jeremiah bucky brooks and read Louis. Everybody what's going on. Welcome to move the sticks. Dj Bucky ret Back with you here and Boys we got a lot to get to on this super bowl not only are takeaways from the Super Bowl game but what this means go forward in the NFL. I know Bucky and I had to interesting conversation last night about that does not know what that conversation was. It breaks with that a little bit later on it will bring him in he can keep up. Okay how we don't voice These individual bittersweet game right. Yeah it is. Ah I mean it was. It was a fun game. I mean the first three and a half quarters you know I mean it was. The game was truly in the balance and boy the chiefs. Just turn on the gas right that final six minutes certainly four kyle. Shanahan probably bringing up some old superbowl. Nightmares wasn't quite like the Falcons collapsed but man To be up ten with six minutes ago is and not win. The game is is a tough way to go. Yeah I mean this. This is a game that brings in so many things that we talked about in the skeleton world. Interplay building around your quarterback what is it true franchise quarterback What franchise quarterbacks bring beyond just their skills to hope and the optimism optimism and then we think about coaching like how you manage your roster in what you have and how you kind of minimize your your weaknesses is in enhance your strengths? All this kind of came to fruition in this game and so to me. It's kind of a fascinating watch. Nothing is one of those where evaluators will pop in this tape and look look at it over and over and over again just to look at the construction teams. Yeah there's definitely a scouting slanted this. We're going to get to as we go through these takeaways but We have one unlike read said almost bitter sweet here because we've been doing these salon Throughout the entire season last one no doubt but look the the off season shrink the NFL. We've got a lot to be excited about. And the draft traffic gets rolling. We're going to have path to the draft coming your way as well as lots of draft stuff right here. I'm with a stick so with that said. Let's finish this thing up the right way here. I'll start with my first takeaway away from this game and that was once again in a big game. It was mahomes mobility. That was the difference. Forty seconds.

"And now move the sticks the divisional round with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and read Louis. Hey Hey everybody welcome to the move the sticks takeaway podcast following a terrific divisional round a weekend in the playoffs. Right Lewis here in studio radio with Bucky Brooks. Dj is on his way to Tampa for the East West Shrine game as it is championship week now in the NFL and his all star season is in in College Football Dj in Andrew. Getting Ready Intersil Yano getting ready for the East West Shrine game this Saturday and then Bucky and I in the nightcap this Saturday from the Rose Bowl we'll take the baton for the NFL PA collegiate bowl so we're excited for that. They'll have practices this week. that we're going to be at will actually take our next podcast stuff from the Wednesday practice at the NFL PA game practice in at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. So we're excited for that. But of course we today are taking a look back at the divisional round of the playoffs. We also saw the final head coaching piece. PUT INTO PLACE BY THE CLEVELAND. Browns hiring hiring offense coordinator for the Vikings Kevin's defence. Qui Quick reacts on that before we get into the to the divisional round takeaways. Here Buck. Well I'm not surprised by the canvas defense key higher. Sure if you hear the conversation coming out of the last go round it. He interviewed very well. Any impressed a number of the people in the front office final the final slash year. So I'm not necessarily a surprise. And then when you begin to kind of put the pieces of the puzzle Together and how. The browns are kind of reportedly wanting to move to a more analytical base thing chemist danske pain graduate policy for destiny in a Harvard graduate in their proposed. Angie very also being a Harvard graduate it would would appear to work. I have some questions about how you can put all of those pieces of the puzzle together while also changing the culture. But that's something that chemist fancy Danske can address at his initial press conference. Obviously I plays out. Yeah we'll get into that Who's he going to bring along for his staff? Interesting as well guys that are going to be in that frame of mind and with an analytics background and then of course that leaves a hole for the Vikings to fill perhaps Gary Kubiak to jump into the role their soda. They're also moving on from their defensive coordinator George Edwards there in Minnesota's well so kind of a fresh start at the upper levels of the Vikings coaching staff after their loss to the forty niners. Yeah Yeah like this. Is this the the Kinda crossroads right and the Minnesota Vikings Not only with the coaching staff. You alluded to Kiev Stefanski moved. There probably means Gary Kubiak comes down and takes over over's office coordinator. George Edwards contract wasn't renewed. So Rail Mike Zimmer has to figure out how does he want to handle the defensive coordinator position he is a guy that calls player. So it's not huge deal together that's going to carry the title and do all the stuff takes place behind the scenes and they gotta make some decisions. Asians on players Everson Griffen than some of their other players are up. How since in the last year of his deal now so how did they want to go forward and this is a team that has done? I mean they've kind of done at all. We've seen goes to the championship game. We've seen him bow out early. We seem to get to the division round which they did against the forty niners at just haven't been able to get over the Hump so so major major major decisions. If I'm not mistaken. I think there's something going on with their general manager. Rick Spielman maybe his deal is GonNa go maybe you. Maybe he's about to enter the last year ever so a lot of conversations that need to be had with their front office in terms of what the future looks. Looks like and we'll get into that. Vikings Forty niners game here shortly early but let's begin our division around takeaways with the wild and wacky and one of the most courageous games we've ever ever seen in the postseason the chiefs versus the Texans buggy get started with the chief side. TV stars slow but finished fast goal to go for the chief fleeting forty one thirty one. We have played a minute and three seconds in the fourth quarter. They action fake left side our city in quite a touchdown in his five-year career. Either in the regular season this is his first post-season game what was exciting bill. Also Kelsey cut right. So here's my take away from the chiefs. It's one thing that I've worried about. Having played in the stadium hadn't been apart the chiefs having had the number one seed in home field when you play a home playoff golf game. And you're the favorite and you may be prohibitive favorite. There's a lot of pressure can kind of seep in To the sideline deck in effect you with the Kansas City achieve to one thing that I was worried about is not necessarily them coming off the bye week but they have so many young players. How did they quickly adjust to the playoff environment and atmosphere when you had a week gough? Meanwhile the Houston. Texans have kind of gotten battle-tested because they had that overtime win against the buffalo bills and I think what we saw in the opening quarter we saw all of the nerves. Kinda play out. They had uncharacteristic drops. Behead bad plays turnovers tyreek Hill muffed a punt. All all of the things that we really haven't seen from this team it Kinda played out at I fifteen minutes. They're saving grace and we'll always be there saving grace is they have the office that is is. It's like a video game office like when they get to rolling when when that offense kind of catches fire they can score points in bunches in the fact that they scored was it forty. One straight on forty-one unanswered unanswered points after that that is. I mean that is that you can't even think think about an NFL offense being able to do. So when people make the comparison and I've likened them to the Golden State Warriors of the most recent years where man when the three ball stores going when they get hot. It's good it can run you out the stadium and that's what we saw happen to the Houston Texas to MVP's in this game for the Kansas City chiefs. I am not talking about Patrick Mahomes Travis Kelsey or even Damien Williams Daniel Sorensen McColl Hartman. Yes in this game because it it was about stemming the tide they needed to make some place to stem the tide that the Texans had built in that lead so it started with Daniel Sorensen Lawrenson and it started before the Michael. Michael Hartmann return because Sorenson tackle Duke Johnson. A yard shy of a first down on third and nine. They got eight yards brought up a fourth and one bill. This is when they were up. Twenty one nothing bill. Deepen chiefs territory. Bill O'Brien wanted to go for. Yeah tried to go for dating in the right right personnel or didn't have the right play. Something got screwed up so he called the time out. They ended up having to kick the field goal. They are up twenty four to nothing right so then me Kohl Hartman comes in. They needed a spark and soon kick off after the field goal he goes fifty eight yards right there and now it's like all right. This is is what this is more like us. This is the we're the chiefs. This is what happens. We're exposed to plays fifty nine seconds. Later touchdown was on the you know the juice. It is so funny money because I think what we saw all weekend. The Emotional Ebbs and flows in playoff games at different in a regular season like the highs are so high in the low. Those are so low and sometimes if you don't have a mature enough team to navigate through it you can find yourself on the on the short end of the stick for the Kansas City chiefs. They were Kanada desperate situation when they kick off to Biko Hartman because they try to put re-keeled and that kind of speaks to. That was one of the time before that on the the poverty poverty for return because he's the designated hitter big place where we can put him back daycare. You need a sport he must. That's when we see them kind of run out because the probe over Turner who had done it all year comes back and he breaks off a big return and you can feel the energy and then when it's going to play and now yeah was to snowball effect of. Oh my gosh. What are we GONNA do here? They come here. They can fences feeling they. Force a three and out on the next Texans offensive possession. Then the Texans I'm trying to fake punt on fourth down. What didn't hate it? I didn't eat the book and and I will say this source and again there it is one tackle will against Justin Reed gives them down great tackle because any other situation might Wanna one. That's what you live for in the national four yard. Go make a play go makeup and it wasn't it wasn't always I do understand with bill. O'Brien said Bill. O'Brien said he felt like he had to get out of the stadium with fifty points to get a win. Yeah and so. So he was fifty two overaggressive. Try going forward. But that's stop and once they get A. Ah and you could just kind of feel going once that offense got to rolling a tough so that was the fake punt. Sorenson comes up with the biggest tackle the game right there because if you felt like Houston converted converted. Maybe they stem the tide right because when you looking at the game I think the one thing that you notice very early Houston was playing very deliberate in slow. They were taking the play clock down to under five seconds on each snap they were trying to shorten the Games shrink the game and really put the pressure back on. Kansas City's offense to feel the heat he'd of having to score and having to chase points and that play stem the tide gave it another opportunity to score and then once they seconds later are they scored their second touch once they closed to within what fourteen ten twenty four to fourteen at that point and you can fill villain and then I'm looking at the clock at the end of the second half in the second quarter saying man if Houston doesn't have a drive here because Kansas City got the ball coming back. I'm doing kickoff. They forced sorts enforce another football and then it was twenty four twenty one. And you're like now. It's more than a run that achieved running. Now you're try. And so as well as it played out for the Houston Texas in the first quarter. Everything leads they lose present everything all the momentum all the advantages before you even get into half-time. Yeah they can't seem to get in the ball out you just knew they're going up at that point. It was a runaway. So let's just finish the thought here on this game with the Texan side of things. I have never seen a game. Where special teams had such a huge impact both positively positively or negatively on team's fortunes in a game infects is about to get it back to kick off on our left to right hand and just one short? Here's Carter at the one yard line straight ahead. Five ten fifteen twenty and the ball's out and he's gotTa Props Absentee Woodside the flood on his daddy yard line when topped the ball pop. Why did you his hands and the keys? I go.

"And now move the sticks the ten takeaways cast with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and a man Tuxedo shirt in win wearing sweatpants rent Lewis Ohio was yes he does we have evidence there it is right there on here you definitely unbelievable sweatpants that is unacceptable by the way I love you know what like to keep it comfy no draft at home you don't want to get it gets drafty sometimes with the AC on Gosh great but we're going to have to have Canaan Iron Habitat this we already have all the that we already have all the other jewelry such good it's already it's already not all right buddy GonNa join us in just a few minutes here but we can get started on the takeaway I'll start us off ten takeaways let's start here with a guy who had probably the best performance of the weekend that's Aaron Rodgers and I went with the with the city of Roger that receivers now they get motioned Farside pylon three yard touchdown pass Eric Harris Beaten on the play the packers extend to thirty four seventeen lead wow I have pretty revolutionary take here it's pretty revolutionary it's a deep football thought but if you cannot get in the pressure on Aaron Rodgers you will get torched and this was a scenario of a of a raiders team I think a good football team with one fatal flaw in that fatal laws they can't Russia the quarterback and if you can't rush the quarterback I don't care if if you put Brett farve out there with a bunch of highschool receivers he is going to torture you and that's exactly what he dead now they found a way to spread it around but if you look at all the big plays in this game the pockets were pristine they just couldn't get the rogers yeah didn't Max crosby get him once crosby's and then did the discount double check after it and then it was like Oh that's GonNa that's GonNa come back to bite you my friend but yeah it looks like the raiders is not wise definitely still have a long way to go in in terms of upping their pass rush production despite the selection of the Cleveland feral and then crosby and those guys I mean look they're getting her at it but it's clearly not where it needs to be just yet and the two words slash one phrase that I have after watching this game is like if this is the type of passing the production that the packers are capable of now with this leflore offense everyone's going to be in trouble because the packers are eighteen to be reckoned with in that now I will say the one thing that will save for the raiders. Dj on the bright side just Jacobs looks like the Real Josh Jacobs baby yeah that's right he looks like the right here I'm not getting as much grief about about that great for some reason a lot of people that are in the draft process like give me some grief on here from one hundred twenty four yards yesterday almost six yards of pop and a couple of those he made him dudes miss in a big way multiple times on the same play so there you go so he's a good player she was going to keep us rolling here and I'll go to the rams and their defense helping to stem the losing ride snap back to Ryan on second intent pressuring his face this time he'll eat it back at the twenty one Dante Fowler missed on I drive this time he made sure to Rag Ryan down so Dante three sacks in this game earned donald had one and I wrote this I was I was watching these sacks I go right tackle got one left guard got one all right guard right tackle again left tackle Jake Matthews you have some two and then Oh left guard you're not the only one that's been beaten multiple times in a game by Aaron Donald maybe except for Alex Mack got beat a bunch of times falcons offensive line and so the Saxon were one thing the turnovers were another thing the rams the team had been minus three in the turnover differential in their three game losing streak in this game they flip it to plus three so you know they had Jalen Ramsey come up with the force fumble on Devante Freeman Then you had to strip sacked from Aaron Donald and then you had the turnover late in a game that ended up in a touchdown I think it was a special teams play right was a punt return so look their defense stepped up in a big way you answer me this do you buy into the fact that if you're if you're a player in that defense or player that rams in general and you see your front office go out and make a move like that to bring in one of the elite players in football and Jalen Ramsey that that hasn't act on you in a way especially on defense if you're a player on that side no I think it shows you that you're in you know gives you I think there's just a sense of urgency there that hey this is our time now we might have sacrificed a little bit in the future with this with some of these draft picks but this is this is our time right now we're coming off a super bowl parents it's time to get rolling and let's be honest if you WANNA get role on a trip to to Atlanta's pretty good place to start I mean once again no sacks for this team I mean they they hit the quarterback three times which is gives them four total quarterback hits over the last three weeks and then you just talked about it with the first point with the raiders. If you can't get after the quarterback it's impossible to win in this league it's just not going to happen and Vic Beasley apparently he's been told he's on the trading block but like who's that WHO's going to go out he's going to go out and spend a bunch of resources for guy who can't get any pressure then do anything that doesn't do anything confirm that they've they've made those calls so I mean are there now you've seen a guy who obviously always had the ability is really blossoming in a new environment there with the ramp so I would imagine somebody will do it I don't imagine it'll fetch a big return there but man it's it's definitely helped get the rams back on the right track no question and get their offense and jared goff playing at a high level they've they've got a chance to make a deep run all right let's go to the next one here let's see go to Minnesota and there's balance in the force Adam feeling motions to the right hand off those two madison no bootleg cousins yeah they're rolling right now in Minnesota Rhett and they've really when I just look for words how would I describe this football team that's why I use the word balance I think when you look at what they're getting out of the passing game now especially since Kirk cousins was Kinda cold out of the last so now he's got ten touchdowns one pick over the last three games our in the ball up in the air each game he's gone over three hundred yards the the average yards per temp eleven point eleven point five nine point nine so they're getting big explosive chunk place they can run the ball with Alvin Cook obviously the past game works well off that they've got a front that's physical enough they can get after you in the run game and they've got pass rushers they've got a secondary with a lot of depth and talent there I just think when you're talking about complete football teams with kirk cousins playing like this this might be the most complete team in the NFL you might be right because we saw what they're capable of the run game early on and now I feel like it's just it's just now as you mentioned with the balance it's become more impressive and I was at the comments was it was it Adam feeling and stuff on digs or did Stefanski message did Mike Zimmer kind of loosen the grip on saying hey let's run run run awfully darn coincidence but it has changed it's those comments were made it absolutely has an Kirk is playing you liked that kirk cousins like he's playing with that type of confidence and that type of aggressive live nature throwing the ball down the field I mean like I go back to late in the game and it's a it's like a short yard situation and they get Stefan digs free down the field in cousins takes that shot and they get it and they convert you know that's really interesting to me play action.

"And now move the sticks with Appalachian State quarterback Daniel Jeremiah in It and North Carolina Wide Receiver Bucky Brooks let's get it all Oh yes I I love that intro and Buck you know what fires me up so much about that intro to hear your your fight song because I don't imagine we're going to hear it on Saturday so it's nice to hear I know like man I like this that brought me back eighty nine four man wouldn't take me Ah Hey buck by the way we're GonNa have a lot to get to on the podcasts we're GonNa talk about the big NFL game between the chiefs and the Ravens so we get some NFL news coming your way we're GonNa talk a little bit of out that Notre Dame Georgia game but the bulk of today is going to be talking about our first ever meeting here with the Bucky Brooks tarheels hosting my APP state mountaineers so and have interviews with Mack Brown bookies coach and back at North Carolina doing a wonderful job and quits the head coach at APP state they're going to join the show we're GONNA have a lot of fun on this episode but like I I didn't know if you saw this but the tickets the tickets for the APP STATE UNC game behind Notre Dame and Georgia. it is the second most expensive college ticket this weekend this is a big deal man it is a big it's a big deal because obviously as you know and state game Appalachia state has been the most successful team in the state of North Carolina in recent history and is an opportunity for a lot of Appalachian steak is too maybe play against university they may they may have seen felt like distant didn't recruit them didn't come after them maybe didn't feel like they were good offense oh look manage to ultimate get back game when you have an opportunity to kind of rub someone's nose in it so this is going to be a fired-up game it's GonNa be exciting game I'm really excited to watch it because Carolina has done some good things to start the season I didn't expect them to be too wants to this point but they're two and one the fact that Appalachia state has been winning and successful there should be a very very good matchup very compelling watch I'm trying to remember now because I I'm a I'm a Indiana University basketball fan have been our whole life and obviously you've been a Carolina Nellie went to Carolina played there but you've been Carolina Basketball I think that Caroline Carolina they knocked you out of the tournament a couple years ago If I remember years ago yeah you maybe you wanted to tell you we lost the national championship yeah yes I think so and that was maybe the undercard here for the Jeremiah Brooks matchup but I I need to know the etiquette with you on big games because I can go either way we can go we can radio silent no texts polls until the game's over or we can or we can have a healthy back and forth I I'm fine with either way I just I want to make sure that we're doing this the right Oy we can go back and forth I guess it depends on what time is the game I need to figure out what time the game it's twelve thirty twelve thirty West Coast Okay twelve thirty I will be on radio from one to five Fox sports radio from Oh you're going to have a side I on the game oh no don't do it trust me I'll have the TV up we have the TV. I have my phone out so I'll be able to watch so I think we can kind of text during the game because you probably pulled up why why am I not coming on the show FSR Okay Yeah Fox sports radio we'll we'll have that discussion all we'd be in a really good mood or a really bad mood that'd be good now we're GonNa have what I have you by my radio partner is a South Carolina fan so you know like we get them ladies ABC's Lucky charm it might be a lucky charm to get you beat him already beat your to beat South Carolina and now it's APP state UNC and then APP state gets South Carolina later on the season so this is like a really kind of a triangle battle here what do you call that the triple threat match or whatever WFAN day yeah yeah something like that so funny all right we're going to have fun with these interviews you have a fun episode today but I do want to get to some NFL stuff before we have these college coaches join us Couple of injury things here or interesting things I should say David Joke who he broke his wrist in that game he's going to be out for a while from the brand Johnson the cowboys decided they were good on Taco Charlton decide to move on from their first round pick from two thousand seventeen which one of those things is the bigger news I don't think it's Taco world much of a factor for that team but David Joke that's that's GonNa have an impact on the browns don't you think debt is GonNa have an impact on the Browns interesting conversation that I had in in thinking about the browns and what's going on with Baker Mayfield had a chance to talk to a couple of former browns coaches the last couple of days and there's a when you noticed Brown's playing this year the playing drastically different name played a year ago at the end of the UN Freddie Kitchens took over his office coordinator they were a little more run heavy twelve and thirteen personnel meaning one bag two tight ends at one back Three tight ends David Joke who was a big part of what they did if you notice Monday night when you saw him they were a lot eleven personnel back in three wide receiver spreading feel really trying to force feed the ball to Odell Beckham Junior Jarvis entry and so it Kinda changed the way they were able to to create favourable matchups the other thing that they believe is a little different the thing about Baker Mayfield is when you make the change that they made in the off season they aided his office of coordinate the guy who was Kinda like maybe I won't say his best friend but I'll say like his closest friend on the coaching staff when it came to heaven conversation and the communication where they made him head coach and ss when you do that you basically empower Baker Mayfield and you kind of make him the franchise got he was already jazz guy but you really have kind of given the keys to the franchise to Baker Mayfield and there's a little bit of against turned that may be in the building there's no one there that can coach Baker Mayfield up hard when you look at him on tape I see a guy who's very similar to the way that he played at Oklahoma his junior year when he was a little chaotic with his foot work a little off the mark and maybe some of the passes and some of the turnovers that are coming because he's not real detailed with his footwork and fundamentals I don't know if there's a coast Air Deccan coach and say Baker you need to get on the details make sure you footwork and all that other stuff is correct so you can throw the ball the way that we know that you can throw it yeah and I look he's he's under a lot of pressure book he's been sacked eight times already through two games he was sacked twenty five times in fourteen games Last year so becoming more of a passing team putting more on his plate and offensive line that I thought played a little bit over their head last year has come back to me Saudi couple of new faces on there and I think you're seeing that show up this team you know look back when I look when I look at the schedule and this was a little bit of me concern with the Cleveland browns because everybody wanted to say this was the you know this is a super bowl representative from the AFC we're seeing Baker struggle and I look ahead rams Lavigne's at forty niners seahawks at Patriots at Broncos bills tell me where the bad defense is in that group of teams I mean goodness gracious talking about a tough slate of games on the horizon so TJ list is used as scenario right so we're looking at those tough games you talked about five tough game in a row against really quality defense let's just say at the end of it the browser one in six does it do anything are they firmly behind free agents do they really feel good about direction of the program today feel like they can count a they have the pieces in place to get them out of a tailspin if if to tell spent occurs how does that change Freddie Kitchens and his jobs his job status based on the fact that he is inexperienced coach he's a first time really because he's a first time coordinator and head coach and he's trying to do it all at the same time how does it change the dynamic around the team when the expectations were so high for the browns going into the season and I think this game man this is this is going to be a turning point game for them the rams prime time at home a chance to play against a suit and see if they can maybe split those and they're all running now if they get their doors blown off by the rams now you're going on the road for a couple of weeks you've got a young team you've got a lot of egos on that team that thing could go the other way quick so to me this game it's week three it seems crazy to say it but I think this is a turning point game for them against the rams and this one is leave town match light because if they don't get a win and you just I mean you just quoted the schedule and what is is on the horizon oh man this is really really tough for them and look they have to get it right because they need to be able to run the ball to get dynamic weapons on the outside you saw Odell Beckham the ball I think the running game could be their best friend as they go forward trying to get this offense up and going no doubt I want to get to the the big game of the week in the NFL slate before we get to get to that college matchup and have some fun here when you look at the Ravens and the chiefs all is going to be on the quarterbacks in Pat Mahomes and Lamar Jackson we know what we thought of those guys coming through the draft process book but now seeing both teams have success doing it differently obviously with these two guys but I wonder if there's a takeaway from from the evaluation of those two and what they've done that if we carried into the future the impact of their performance might have in the future as we go through the draft to come I mean definitely has an impact I think we've already seen the impact that his head I think we need to look no farther than what happened we Calva Murray Calvin Murray is a byproduct of the success that Pat Mahomes head and his second season as the MVP of the League When you look at the baseball background the ability to play as improvisational specialist the talent when it comes to arm talent while mixing some of the run ability that you would like to see I think it is already impact acted the.

"Podcast i can remember that anything else before we get out of here by a proudly sporting your app upstate nike shirt over there wait yeah i went to that. I went to that event that that <hes> that deal in nashville where all look different colleges. They're in my guy from upstate brought me a whole bag. Oh back all kinds of stuff so excited. North carolina folks there to north carolina guys and they're recruiting department. They're getting ready to <hes> to get rolling here man. What what do we figure out what we're doing for this game yet. We're just trying to focus on having a great practice today. That's what we're trying to do. It want to know what is your response. Let's say by the way what is your oh man so we we'll talk about this so this is from a man says man. I'm a mess f- name of sifts name so steph is a chess. Don't screw up weren't a very thick bracelet here with some were some letters on it. I can't make it out. What it is so sieff is a chess masters. S who is who is a googling seth seth chessmaster listers. I is seth makovsky. I just wanna see his last name correctly. I didn't want to mess it up. So seth mcaliskey hausky is a chess massey's longtime chessmaster but what he has done is he has started to work with the mental performance of athletes and one of the first guys steady work. It was the shower watson <hes> quincy. Who's a friend of mine. We worked together only lead eleven tour they linked up and to shawn watson and dwayne has started working with south on just kinda the how quiet the mind when it comes to play the game using chess as a vehicle when i went to lead eleven this year in dallas seven linked up and i kind of watched him <hes> work his magic with some of the quarterbacks and the guy who was m._v._p. C._j. stroud just took to the game of chess. I never been a chess player and so is my first exposure to to to play the game and so he showed me some tricks show me how the play and he showed me how to think so the respect that i have is as threats and attacks and as you're thinking about anything when you're playing a game and he related it to football. He said the thing that you always have to think about like before each type. What are the threats and how can we attack on. The chessboard is the same thing so people talk about thinking several moves. Ahead is the ability to look at the chessboard. See where i'm at where to threats and how can i attack so i can always keep pressure on the opponent so i took that and he says look just make everything as simple as that and so when i was coaching i delete eleven thing. I was coaching the divas. I was in charge of the defense team won and we played one defense. The the entire time we play one coverage and in part of doing that is because when you play one thing you know how everyone is always going to attack attack you and so it gives you the ability to just spend your time working on here's how they may threaten us here. We're going to take them back and so that's where sprung from uh-huh and so i've taken that and tried to use it as i go into coaching at the high school. Let's just keep everything simple. It doesn't have to be all this trickery. It doesn't have to be all this foolery. Let's just lineup. No exactly what we're doing. Teams are going to attack us like this and go forward and one of the players that he's worked with in college that we'll talk about in the draft. Maybe this year darnay homes. The cornerback from u._c._l._a. has become one of his prize pupil and he is taken to the game of chess and it is really helped him elevate. It is game and so when talking to chip killing those guys is just south is just wonder so. I'm all about south all right well. I need my. I need my bracelet next time i get i. I took it from a write off his wrist right of his that he gave it to me. He's gray duda. He lives in the area so i've talked about him coming through and talking about much like we've talked about like how teams build teams he kind of understands how to build up the players that can be the best best is required well. We'll get him in in the studio for the pod absolutely all right buck great to see a man. It's fun talking ball. We've got more preseason action coming. We'll keep an eye on all these players specifically's rookie players in in college football <hes>. We're gonna jump into that water here shortly as a college season is just around the corner. That's going to do it for us today. Thanks for listening to move the sticks presented by air. Thanks for downloading move the sticks with daniel jeremiah and bucky brooks for more go to n._f._l. The prototype series spent a lot of fun in this one. I think's our best one oh I think it is best when we've talked about it here a couple position that we call the market positions in the team building process the edge rusher is essential. You talk about outside the quarterback maybe the most interesting it is is the edge rusher can affect the quarterback in the way that he plays and so being able to really do a deep dive into edge Russia's was separates some degrade ones from the others how how you kind of planet in place to become dominic edge rusher how you set it up where you made his splash plays and key moments. I can't wait to talk to the guys that we have McCoy trouble anti sack J._J.. Watt breaks.

"Everybody. It's Daniel Jeremiah for move the sticks, and I'm Bucky Brooks. And this is calamari three six. Pocket might be worries at its most dangerous CD a walk in touchdown pass up the same Morris. Touchdown. Out of their escape ability. Draft week. This is our final three sixty episode for the two thousand nineteen NFL draft. And with a guy like Kylo Moore either. So many reasons why intentionally be the number one overall pick in this draft today, we want to focus on three main elements. What makes the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback so special number one? He's a winner forty three and Alan high school in Texas, three state championships. One hundred eighty six total touchdowns and over fourteen thousand yards for his high school it onto college is Heisman winner. He's a big twelve champion as a one year starting quarterback at Oklahoma. Number two. The unique ability to be dominant athlete into sports top ten pick in major league baseball and a potential number one overall pick in the NFL number three the dynamic of having to replace Baker Mayfield if Oklahoma how did the two all American quarterbacks compare. How are they different? We'll hear from many people close to calamari throughout this show. But first let's start with this office coordinator at Allen highschool in Texas, Jeff, leaner. I coach thank you so much for spending some time with us today. I question from me is just wins. The first time you met Cuyler Murray. And what was your impression? I was able to meet collar when he was actually in middle school. Kevin is dad was trying to one of the quarterbacks we had at Alan high school there in that two thousand ten two thousand eleven years, and so he was in middle school, and then his freshman year high school and got a chance to meet him a couple times at some of those training sessions in new and got a little bit. But for you know, you guys in the media note pretty quickly that is not real trust and everybody right when he first meets him. So is definitely fun that he went ahead and came to to Alan highschool and got to build that relationship with them, you know, in in in terms of building that relationship. What was it like when you finally had an opportunity to work with them in practice and to see and observe how you interact with his team Mason games. All is an absolute blasphemy you. I just see him that the first two three throws. He has just a out of practice. The very first time we got to see him practice. He was actually before we even started our our fault practices in with some of our receiver. In our other quarterback just to throw some balls at one of the middle schools in just from the very beginning knowing that he's just barely fifteen years old in watch. And you know, everything's perfect. I mean, the the fundamentals is hits this feat is armed placement. You know every single ball. Whether he's playing catch from guy ten yards away from home or throwing a post route down the field. It's it's effortless. And you know, it was one of those things that made it really easy as a coach that, you know, a lot of times you'd have to spend a lot of time working on fundamentals in drops, and footwork and things like that. And there's so much of that with Cuyler that was just it was just natural or just what he'd been working on for so long with his dad coached for those that don't know maybe from outside the country outside the state of Texas. Can you kind of paint the picture of just how big time high school football is when when you're coaching over there at Alan highschool in in the run you guys run? I just don't think people, maybe if you live in another state, you realize just how big how important high school football is. Oh, well, you know, anybody that says if you're going to be high school football coach, you know, there's no other place to do it like, Texas. You know, there's their stories all over the state of of coaches in Texas that loaded up their bags, and you all in their family from New Yorker, you know, places like that and drove down didn't have a job. But just said we're going to Texas because I won't be icicle coach. And you know, I think a little look at, you know, Friday night lights, the movie or the show and see some of that and think, oh, well, this, you know, some this has got to be some hyperbole some exaggeration for Hollywood. And maybe the good and bad of it is it really isn't on the best way to explain, you know, Alan is when you take the the insanity that is Texas is school football. If you want the poster child for that, you you look at it Allen high school where you know. I think the the fun part of just the city of Allen is it is very much the small town Friday night lights mentality as far as everybody's. Going to close up shop and go to football game. But we're going to have all that. But on the largest scale being the largest high school in Texas. It's been very important to them for a long time in that city that they wanted to always be a one high school town. They they didn't want anybody to have to, you know, wear a different color surged or you know, support a different team. And they've done a great job in that town continuing that in thinking about the pressure that comes along with being kind of like the only show in town. You guys went on a historic run you want three straight state titles and calamari was the starting quarterback. What did you learn about calamari doing that sustained room when you guys were able to kind of dominate the level of competition with him into quarterback? Well, you know, I mean there there was definitely games that we went went into and we were going to be the better team. But I think that that gets overshadowed sometimes is in those runs we went on when we got into the playoffs in playing some of the powerhouse teams nationally ranked teams year in year out. I think that's where his leadership in his ability really set us apart from everybody else because you know, there's not many games at the highest level in Texas where you're going to win just because you have the best athletes on the field. You know, you just can't you can't win that way. When you're playing the teams like the sodo euless trinity, cedar hill, Longview, you're playing you know, all of those powerhouse teams in it. That's when it has to be more than just the talent a of a guy like Collor Murray, and you know, his leadership is such a different style. And probably something that's been called into a question a lot because following a guy like Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma everybody. That's what they. Expected which was you know, maker was a guy that wasn't afraid to talk from the Mike phone and be loud. In be the the passion guy, the juice guy, the guy given the pep talk for the games and dancing and getting all the excitement going where you know, Keiler has always been my description island assassin and the confidence that he brought to his team just simply on is preparation in play. But I think there's just so many people that don't get to see as leadership because the out there in front of you on social media in front of the cameras to we have. I mean just stories upon stories from his three years as our quarterback at practices as far as he demanded you to be at your very best and be great on single snap and every single rip that we took at practice or you're going to
