The raccoon overheard this and bristled immediate I'd rather go back and live in the parking lot they stared at each other across the swaying grass they were equally sized and neither one cared to no no you won't distract me that easily this place is mine I'd say we could share but I don't believe in sharing its every raccoon for himself out there eight we can let the spirit of the forest decide said the raccoon oh I'm so sure and how do we do that oh well that was a bust said the Fox fine snapped the raccoon that neither one of us will build here if the perfect little spot not really they both waited a day to try and be sneaky and then snuck back to the spot the Fox got back that's what it takes to be rid of you then fine the Fox agreed they both turned and went their separate ways but neither one plan to give up I looked all around perfect no raccoon she said the first thing will be to pull up all the grass I'll come back and do that he decided the first thing to be done was to pull up all the old grass he got to work with his paws and claws and worked until the sun started to rise and Morrogh satisfied she went to get some sleep the raccoon one out that same night late when it was dark and still like the Fox orest spirits please drop an acorn on whoever is meant to live you the pair waited for a long time no acorn spell sting his beady little is not a bad night's work he said to himself as he headed off to bed now I'll get this all swept and level the dirt so it was soft and level perfect she said when she was finished now tomorrow I can get some trees to make my house frame zero the Fox woke up a short while later and went to go clear the grass but when she arrived she couldn't believe what she saw that grass she turned her fuzzy back and headed off to bed of course the raccoon showed up just a couple of hours later to start his night and when he came to the house sure not wanting to seem grateful for the help of the spirits the Fox decided to continue the job she took her long fluffy tail and swept ready gathered she cried clapping her poems together what amazing forest spirits I found they truly must want me to make this my home oh my God as already cleared she said the spirits of the forest must have heard me and helped me with the work they totally want me to live here this is a special spot for sturdy and Stout enough for a house frame what a wonderful day he said to himself as he left to get some sleep now tomorrow I just need uh-huh not wanting to seem ungrateful for the help of the spirits the raccoon decided to continue the job he went and found some good fallen tree branches Josh thinks guys she took the trees that had been gathered doug some holes and planted their bottoms in the earth that way they stood straight and get these in the ground the Fox woke up a short while later and return to the clearing in the warm light of day Oh my gosh the trees have all sure they've swept the dirt for me he pranced forward sinking in his paws so soft so luxurious such a lovely spot for a home fragrant pine boughs the branches were thick with waxy needles that would keep out the worst of the wind and sun the Raccoon worked all night and went to bed exhaust sturdy in the air they're a perfect frame tomorrow I'll come and get some pine boughs for the walls she headed off to bed and the raccoon took her he gasped with excitement wow well shire's well we WANNA wherever he gasped the forest spirits want me to live did just before sunrise the Fox came shortly after missing the raccoon by mere moments she found the stack of Pine Boughs and nearly cry laced with the rising moon theses incredible this is just incredible incredible incredible incredible he cried finishing the house with careful Pau and claw and snout work she wove the Pine Boughs into the frame in the end she had a tight little house that kept her war means I'm not done yet but what else is there he thought for a minute and then to finally he leaped up clapping his paws hearing and saw the little house completed he nearly lost his roly-poly little mind oh my sweet stinky garbage he exclaimed he saw the small pile of branches that the Fox had left behind they had been extra of course but he didn't know that they left branches with joy those spirits have favored me again this is without a doubt the perfect spot for me to make my home she spent the rest of the day did she headed off to fetch her things leaving behind a small pile of unused branches the raccoon woke shortly after when he walked into the she took her things and went into the left side of the house she was soon settled and sleeping sweetly the raccoon returned when she was snoozing he moved I'm and smelled Piney and beautiful finished she said finally now I just have to get my stuff and move it in Oh my gosh I'm so excited is be evil she screamed and ran from the house the screen terrified the raccoon and he to ran out the door they collided and fell in a pile yes used her paws to scratch behind her ears thumping into the wall with a WEAP- WEAP- WEAP- on his side the raccoon leaned over his garbage full belly these things into the right side of the house and lay down to rest as well never seeing the Fox in her half at dusk they both got up to stretch the Fox out front get out of my way said the raccoon I'm running from screaming spirits in my house no you get out of my way said the Fox said the Fox show did you said the raccoon doesn't matter now though I already finished my house your house I just finished my house the spirits planted my frame for me they must really want me to live here as a show of his thinks the raccoon spent the rest of the day gathering wide. I'm running from a moaning monster in my house they looked at each other and then looked at the house you said you weren't going to build here the raccoon left and the Fox came back with her things short time later she saw the home with a wall down the center knew what it meant right away or at least she oh I got it the spirits have helped me build a lovely house but it's much too large for me they must want to room for themselves of course he took the brand it's helped me they gathered me pine boughs new I gathered Pine Boughs

You're turning did you get them to listen I did thank you you should get somewhere safe. The Mermaid said it's going to get a rock like a cradle surprise calliope lost her footing and tumbled towards the water she scrabbled with her claws gouging long nail marks into the plane down her throat making her choke and sputter water filter eyes and ears filled her world she was sinking she was lost she was wet and Co cold and drowning it was her worst fear made real and she couldn't take it suddenly strong hands were around her she felt herself urge upwards and then she was thrown into the air the blessed dry air she landed on her feet back on the deck of the ship Melby had it's calliope quietly left the captain's shoulders and made her way back to the stern doing her best to stay out of the way Colli called Melby does fear seizing control of her body from her nose to her tail water surged around her for and went up her nose she tried to scream and it ran of the deck but the woods gave out beneath her and she fell she fell and she screamed and she crashed into the water and sank with a splash collide nick with smoke Kalliopi coughed now choking on the water and the smoke both she couldn't see more than a whisker in front of her face was passed overhead she darted through the busy crew as their own canons began to fire followed by the pistols and flint locks suddenly the air was thank you me good luck charm when this is over you're getting all the fish she can handle that's blood borne out there he don't take prisoners feeling weak she tried to call for help but that only made her cough even harder blind and choking she stumbled forward finally her paw Kane another Canon ball smashed into the wood near Colli Abi stinging her with splinters the cat yowled and leapt away as yet another cannonball soared I love stinking smoke and shouts and black powder she dug her claws into the hemp rope and began to climb the smoke grew thinner as she went scooped her up and throwing her just like one of their nightly fish rhianna screamed the Mermaid Kaleida you have to run down on a rope it snaked up into the air disappearing into the smoke where it leads she couldn't say but anywhere was better than her current world this the end of the world where was her cabin the deck shook as a cannonball collided with the ship knocking the cat off her paws she coughed again and finally she emerged into clear air she coughed again and spat a dark gray hairball before taking a deep breath of the fresh smokeless Scott blood bones lady death the ugly ship was starting to sink into the smoky waters but where was Captain Calico Ken she scanned the deck clinging tightly it to her rope there he was at the rail of his ship fighting off the last of the attackers throwing them into the sea suddenly he was push-back staggering and captain blood bone was on the deck he was tall and broad his legs thick as masts in his giant Harry to her warning Captain Calico cat and the crew of the cunning cat seemed to be winning they had taken damage to be sure but their cannons had pounded away captain fist he clutched a battle-axe in the shape of snarling shark the two captains faced off against each other for a moment and then they charge and kicked old Calico Ken onto his back time for some new leadership he's snarled and raised his axe high I she looked around and saw she was at the top of the forward mast high above the deck below her the battle was raging luckily thanks saved her captain they locked eyes and Melody gave her a wink before throwing the biggest fish yet sending blood bone stumbling captain urged the evil captain blood bones swung with a roar and Kalliopi winced as Captain Ken barely managed to block it with his sword another massive swing the nearly fifty foot wooden being dragged a heavy cargo net and metal rigging behind it and it smashed into the water like giant's fist right child he turned to look and another fish came flying slapping him across the face Kalliopi looked and saw Melby the mermaid had she couldn't do it she remembered being in the water earlier how it had gotten into her mouth and nose and ears and lungs how it had been the acts and the sword went sliding across the deck Colli p watched in horror her captain oh no blood bone laughter scream of iron nails pulling free the crew grabbed their Calico captain but blood bones crew had already fled so alone he tumbled over the railing next to Melby the mermaid girl yelped and then she was caught in the crash the netting ripped free of the mast and snared her an iron ring whipped she sank her claws into the hemp and started to cut it was thick crusted with salt and it didn't give easily hold on Melby she said Asher would kill them the net was going to sink all the way to the bottom she had to do something she climbed back down the rope as Captain Calico Ken and the crew in Calico Ken took his chance he rolled his feet and bull rushed his enemy they collided and smashed into the wooden railing it gave out with us sawing with all her might just hold on water or no she couldn't leave her friend she just couldn't the nets I started to swing but as he did a fish came soaring out of the sea and smashed into his back it knocked him off balance and his swing went wow cost had been high captain Calico Ken had lost his cat his friend and his luck the ocean had swallowed her justice shores think one slender hand reaching out through the cargo net she needed someone to help she needed someone to rescue her she needs thought from the ship and landed in the water it's splashed her eyes and weighed down her but she swam furiously and managed to get to the cargo net panting dark and cold and how it had been her worst fear and somehow even worse than that she remembered it all and her body locked up she watched as Melby started and I'm coming Melby Captain Calico Ken and the crew watched in horror as the net was dragged to the deep their precious cat dragged right along and into the Sea Colli cheered but only for an instant blood bones ship was sinking and one of his smaller masts tore free while she watched finished we can head out soon are good good has there been any sawing he trailed off knowing the answer no sir watched the sinking ship May didn't see the Mermaid and calliope he knew she couldn't make them understand in time if anyone was going to save melby it had to be heard cross her head with a wicked thump and she slumped over in the Water Melby no calliope he cried as she watched the iron rings attached inside and the cat could see her flailing weekly Colli Abi knew her claws could cut the net she tensed ready to leap and froze and the next day was a solemn affair they had won the battle and rid the seas of blood bone a truly evil pirate but the with it still scratching furiously at the ropes they tried to get to her but she sank too fast they were too late Colli Abbey was gone sank beneath the waves the heavy iron dragging it even lower water lapped Colli appease whiskers it blurred her is she was going in her she jumped on the ship's railing and ran as close to her friend as she could the net was drawn tight now starting to sink for real melby it had swallowed blood bone good or bad the seized didn't care the seas were always hungry he had a thought with his Calico Tin Willa said grabbing his shoulder is that no and I go and see crazy Captain Calico Ken looked up Mermaid and skipping across the water was another she was smaller with a Calico Mermaid tail and long curious whiskers happy a friend and with that thought Colli Abi seized the courage she had never managed to find for fish with a lion's roar she left the crew had started calling the cats and she went under she had saved them all with early warning and

Once upon a time in a sprawling airy forest there lived a very plain bird her name span and she was truly the most ordinary bird you could ever encounter where other birds sing beautiful soaring songs. Fan could only squawk and quibble where other birds had proud beaks and gleaming talons. She had a rocky stub and scratchy nails and worst of all where other birds had feathers and all the colors of the blooming flowers. Fan's feathers were the dingy grey of ashes. Life was hard for fan. She had trouble fitting in and was lonely more often than not one day she went to the singing birds all crooning away in the swaying green limbs of the Cyprus trees these birds were white and brown themselves so she thought perhaps they'd have some sympathy for her ash-grey feathers. Hello there she said doing her best to sound musical and landing instead on an awkward warble. Do you think I could join in on your singing? A proud larks stopped his song and puffed himself up he was a little ball of a bird and all the more round with his feathers. Fluffed join us. He humped well with a voice. Like that I find it unlikely but go ahead give it. The old songbird try. Fan took a deep breath and gave it her best shot. She tilted her little beak up and let loose law unfortunately her voice cracked and wobbled and warble than warped. If you think of a pretty song her effort was pretty much. The exact opposite the larks and thrashes all started to laugh and laugh. If that's your idea of a song I'd hate to hear you complaining. The proud Lark said Fan flapped away sadder than before still. She didn't want to give up. Maybe she couldn't sing but there were other flocks. She flapped her little wings and made her way deeper into the forest deeper and deeper to the dark and quiet trees that the sparrowhawks made their home. These birds were also plainly colored and they didn't sing so much as screech so fan thought. Perhaps she could find some friends among them. Hello were there. She said doing her best to sound strong and fierce and landing instead on a shaky whisper. Do you think I could join in with your hunting? The mighty sparrowhawks glare down at her with their keen. Yellow is the largest one leaned forward beak gleaming sharp and deadly. Join US she shrieked. Would that be in those talents? I find it unlikely. Catch that mouse. They're running below our tree. Fan nodded and dove streaking towards the ground. Like she had seen the bigger birds do on so many occasions. She hit the mouse and her little talons bounced off her beak was bad at aside. The mouse squeaked in annoyance and disappeared into his whole complaining all the way. The sparrowhawks started to laugh and laugh. Mighty Hunter can't even kill a mouse. The Great Bird said Fan flapped away sadder than ever before still. She didn't want to give up sure she couldn't sing and true. She wasn't much of a hunter but there was another group. She flapped her little wings and headed towards the river. There on the Balmy banks were the colorful birds. Their feathers were plum purple and rocket red and Emerald Green and ocean wave blue. They were so beautiful to look upon. That fan had been afraid to approach them at I still. They didn't sing so sweetly and they definitely weren't hunters either so she thought maybe she could find some friends among them. Hello there she said doing her. Best to sound. Bright and cheery. Do you think I could join you and sit by the river with all of you? A stunningly bright mandarin duck popped out of the water shaking droplets free of his marvelous. Golden head join us. He said cocking his head. You're much to play. Why don't you come back when you have something a little more colorful to contribute? Fan didn't see how she could make that happen but she was sick of being turned away so with no better ideas. She packed around on the ground for awhile looking for loose feathers. She found some in a sunshiny yellow and others in an overwrite orange and using a little tree sap stock the colored feathers in among her own feeling pretty pleased with herself. She returned to the river's edge and posed for the Mandarin Duck. Not a bad start. He said suspiciously but wait. One of those feathers. Looks like a tail feather I lost last week and feathers from my Ting added a golden pheasant give back. The pheasant plucked free its feathers and the duck did the same and the other birds followed their lead soon. Poor fan was left with no feathers but her own ash-grey a nice try said the Mandarin Duck. But you can sit with us. I can't sing. I can't hunt said Fan. I thought at least you can't sit with us. He snapped and Fan flapped away sadder than ever before. She spent time feeling sorry for herself wishing she had a group to join eventually though she had a new thought. Okay I can't sing or hunt and maybe I'm pretty plain but does that mean I don't have value. Everything has value. There are lots of good things about me. I'm not a singer. I'm not sure I can carry into don't hunt. I'm not a winger and I am not brightly wound. But these aren't things you have to be friend and I don't need to feel less in the a lot of good things about me. I like myself. My voice is fine. Keeps Me Company? I'M GONNA sing. I don't care what you say. I don't hunt but I'm not hungry. I call exceeds in. Eat them all day. My father's planning and so on and he say aren't what make me good. I'm good anyway. Kwon do aren't all this Birdie you like everyone on Earth. Yes fan new. She had value and she found. She was much happier when she stopped to fit in. She spent her days singing to herself cracking open seed pods and bringing them back home to her burrow in the bark before long she had a tree full of delicious seeds and nuts and was quite content in her own company not long after there was a terrible drought. The Sun pounded down mercilessly. Day After day the rivers dried up the flowers wavered and wilted and the mice all left for greener pastures soon. The sprawling airy forest was nearly empty of food. Luckily Fan had plenty in her tree but the other birds weren't so lucky. The songbirds found themselves starving and sore. The birds of prey had nothing to prey upon. Even the beautiful birds found their river dried and their food dried with it. They all came together in the forest chirping and arguing some thought they should abandon their homes and fly away hoping to find a better place. Others pointed out that they'd starve before they could hope to make it anywhere. Half as good the arguing soon turned to squawking and the squawking soon turned to shouting fan heard it all from her burrow in the bar nearby she looked at her supply of food more than enough to share and then at all the starving birds outside a part of her wanted to stay hidden and let them starve. They'd certainly been mean enough to her but another part was still as friendly as ever and more than that fan still knew that she had value just because those birds had been rude to her. That didn't mean she had to be rude to them. She would be true to herself. And that meant being kind. Even in the squawking face of meanness pillow there. She said poking her head out from her tree and interrupting the argument. I've been collecting seeds. Not Send even some berries in my tree. I have plenty to share. Come take a look. The birds gathered around and fan began to pass out the food. They thanked her and took it meekly knowing they didn't deserve the kindness. She was showing them but to Hungary to refuse after. All we're fed fan went back inside her tree to sleep. The other birds stayed up all night talking without her and when the sun rose the next day fan found them all waiting outside her home. Oh hello there she said. Did you eat it all already? I suppose I can share some more. The proud Lark flap forward. No you've shared more than enough. He said trump agreed the sparrowhawk landing by his side. You been kind of and we deserved the brightly shining. Mandarin Duck waddled up as well kinder than we were to you. Where sorry for how we treated you. Well that's okay said Fan. Thanks for saying so. She turned to go back inside but they waived her to stop. Wait trilled the LARK. I have something for you. He slapped up to fan and put his beak to hers. The gift of music passed from him to her and when fan opened her mouth she found herself trilling a beautiful song. The sparrowhawk came next and gifted fan a mighty beak and gleaming talons. Finally the Mandarin Duck and all the rest each pulled off their brightest and most beautiful feather and gave it to fan to keep soon her. Plumage was the prettiest of all. And when you looked at her she seemed to shine like the sun itself. You were always the best of US said the lark solemnly a now. We'd like you to be the leader of the birds. Enjoy the episode. The boy who loved cheese too much. Klaus von Bomo was a Dutch boy and once upon a time he lived on a dairy farm with his family. He was a stout. Lad with rosy cheeks and thick middle. His hair was an orange somewhere between carrots and sweet potatoes. It was snipped flat level under his ears mostly because his mother cut it by putting a bowl on his head and trimming whatever hairs peaked out nipping them like cats with garden, mice oftentimes after dinner. His mother was known to wail that clauses stomach had no bottom. He was like a well that swallowed anything and everything and then just echoed for more. He ate sausages and Stroup waffles. He ate bitter, Ballin and herring. He ate everything. His mother put in front of him. And most of what she hid in the cupboards, but his favorite his favorite was cheese. Being a dairy farm. There was never a shortage hard bidder. Cheese and soft milky cheese films, sliced cheese and crumbly blocked cheese. Big wheels of cheese all sealed up in wax, and stinky cheese with flavor so thick you could see it floating in the air class aided all and when his parents tried to control his portions. He would steal the cheese from his sisters plates and eat that to to fight his ferocious appetite clauses. Parents then thought they could just keep the cheese hidden. They did not account for classes, heightened cheese scenting powers, though. Like a bloodhound like cheese hound. He sniffed out every slice block and wheel and ate them all up in a single night eight until his stomach was swollen. And he felt sick and sore next. They tried to lock the cheese away in a cabinet high up in their wall. This seemed like it might. At work until Kloss realized he could stand on a chair he dragged one over and then smashed the lock with an old knock worst sausage until it fell broken to the ground. They found him the next morning sleeping soundly on the kitchen floor in one hand was a wedge of Swiss in his other was the knock worst nod to another job the rest of the cheese was gone, but clauses bulging grumbling belly told a pretty clear story. What would we do? His mother said to his father. They stood together. Among snowdrift of cheese wrappers, they're greedy. Boy. Snoring soundly at their feet. He's going to eat us out of business. We tried locking the cheese answered his father this time. I'll try locking the Kloss. We can't lock up. Our boy, I'm not going to put him in a cage, I'm going to put him in his room. I will be the lock that night. After Kloss went to bed in his Garret room, his father closed the boys door, and then sat outside it broad back to the old wooden surface. Sure. Enough an hour or so later, he heard the knob shake and rattle the door thumped weekly into his shoulders back to bed class. He said, no cheese tonight. No cheese, Kloss sputtered. But but. That's enough Kloss his father answered you will get some sleep. Muttering to himself Kloss got back into bed. He heaved Asai. And then looked out his round bedroom window at the rolling pasture of his dairy farm. The night was warm, and he crashed the window to let in the breeze. It carried in cooling the air and bringing the smells of hey and cows, and of course, cheese class breathed in deep and then stared up into the moon. Some people said the moon was made of cheese. He could believe that especially on a night. Like tonight. It was full of bright and waxy yellow white that looked like nothing so much as a big fat wheel of natural cheddar. He licked his lips. He just couldn't help it. Bob like a butterfly. Shooed Lega staw-, I would fly to the sky and I travel so far. John. Aw, I could buzz like a Bumblebee. If I could soar like a spa. Right. I would through the. Do that. Now wanderings. And. I wanna eat cheese. So sweet shatter breeze and bring a spoon to them that up too. Flit like a fire. I would say like a swamp. I our hours to whole things. John. Class. Stop singing for a moment. Was that bells? He heard he cocked his head growing suddenly still there. It was again, a high silvery bell sound. But where was it coming from at the window? He rolled and flung it open wider peering down into the buttery moonlight there bobbing in the moonbeams were three lovely little ladies, each no bigger than a cheese knife, they smiled and danced there. Wispy wings nearly invisible. They had no bells. It was their laughter. Class had heard echoing bright and silvery. Fairies Dutch fairies they were wearing very pretty dresses each a different color, green red and pink. Boy, they called in through the open window, you love cheese. Boy. Yes, it's my favorite. I ll. Gouda. I love Swiss I love free. Yes. We heard the song said a fairy in green come with us. We have all the cheese you could ever want pie of it said the red. Of it. Giggled the pink really cried class already standing is, greedy and wide will build you a house cheese mansion. Okay. Class said pulling on his wool, socks and coat. Suddenly his face fell. He froze one sock half on his pudgy foot, dangling limply. Todd's blocking the door. He said I can't get out leave that to us said the green fairy zipping past where on it said the red following fast. No sweat agreed the pink flooding by they buzzed little balls of bobbing light through clauses room in a graceful dive, they swept down and through the keyhole a moment later Kloss could hear the study snorting snore of his father carefully. He opened the door the fairies danced happily there. Twinkling magic had put clauses father out cold quiet as he could Kloss followed the fairies down the stairs and out the front door. Where are we going? Keep huffed a land of cheese said the green fairy cheese said the red. Said the pink. And then they all laughed that silver bell laugh again. Without hesitation, they lead Kloss through the pastures and into the forest Kloss had been in these woods many times with his father, but they seemed stranger now they seemed wilder weirder. The kind of place fairies might live the kind of place a boy my disappear into one night. And then never find his way home. Again, his heart began to pound had it always been so loud. He could hear it in his ears louder than his footsteps in the dark of the forest. The fairies were bright as bobbing torches by their light Kloss was able to pick his way through the trees and bushes and Brambles he turned to look behind him. But it was nothing but a sea of darkness as velvety nothing black as dairy cows spots come on Kloss called the fairies getting ahead of him. Now, we are almost there. Can't you smell the cheese? A breeze wafted through the woods carrying the smells of cheeses, sharp and blue and aged and smooth I smell it Kloss cried running nose, I towards the delectable sent he soon emerged into a grassy clearing in the middle of the woods. The kind the old timers had always called a fairy. Ring he thought it was just a saying. But how wrong he had been the fairy ring was alive with light and laughter? Hundreds of fairy swirled through the air bobbing and weaving on gossamer wings. They traced intricate patterns around each other somehow never colliding the silver bell sound of their laughter seem to fill the air. Kloss took in all the magic with wonder but wonder wouldn't feed his greedy belly for that? He needed cheese. Where is it? He asked the fairies, I smell it. But I don't see it. His three fairy companions emerged drifting out of the groups twirling dance. Look again, said the green fairy Kloss blinked, and suddenly he saw it there. In the center of the ferry circle was a picnic blanket spread out next to it was a basket overflowing with cheeses of all shapes and sizes and smells finally Kloss. Hollered pushing through the ferry cloud and falling onto the basket. By the time his fairy friends, flew over. He was already two wheels. Deep he had a hunk of stinky Limburgers in one fist and a wedge of creamy Brie in the other. Would you like some more they asked? Yes, bring me all the cheese, the fairies laughed and began to bring him cheese. Kloss didn't see where they magicked it up from. And he didn't care he sat on the picnic blanket, and ate and ate and ate the fairies kept going bringing cheese even faster than he could eat it. Munster breeze, Swiss Gouda and more. They stacked and piled it around him until it seemed to class that he was living in a castle made of cheese with towering cheese walls on all sides. It was heaven the greedy Kloss eight and eight and eight he ate she's by the slice wedge and wheel he ate. She's until his face was smeared with it and his hands were kicked with it. He ate cheese until his belly was as big and round as the moon and then kept eating cheese until finally he couldn't possibly fit another. Bite. Not a crumb not a morsel. Why have you stopped? The green fairy asked flitting overhead this still mortal. Eat said the red belly up cheese. Boy. Cackles the pink eye and clause moaned I'm to full I need to rest. Sorry. But you wanted that. She's and we brought it, but I'm done the fairies flew in close up near classes is he could see their stern little faces under all their glow and glitter. The pink fairy leaned in nose to nose with him you're done when we say you're done. Kloss opened his mouth to reply, but the green fairy filled it with a log of goat cheese. And by the time he finished chewing that the red fairy had a wedge of some stinky, blue ready and by the time he had finished chewing that that she's walls around him. We're starting to shiver and sway stop. It's too much. It's going to fall he wanted to scream, but he found more cheese shoved in his mouth, the great cloud of fairies. We're all fetching cheese now, and they're stack seem to loom over his world. They wouldn't stop. They wouldn't let him stop his stomach felt like it may pop the walls of cheese started to topple. They blotted out the moonlight blocked. The ferry light rain down on class and swallowed him in darkness. He tried to move. But he was stuck tried to breathe and found his mouth full of cheese. It was too much. He was buried under cheese. And it just kept falling. He felt it getting heavier and heavier his mouth was full. His belly was full. It was all too much. And he was going to pop the last thing Kloss heard before passing out was the fairies laughing the sound of tinkling silver bells on the wind. The next morning as the sun was just starting to light up the world the boy woke up in his own front yard empty save for sparkling morning. Do what what happened? He said or tried to say he found his mouth was full of half chewed grass. Blah, Kloss spit it onto the ground and then pulled off a few blades that had stuck to his tongue. He looked all over but saw no sign of the ferries or the cheese. Had it been a dream Kloss thought for a moment that it might have been. But then he noticed his belly still felt heavy. And there were smears of yellow around his shirt, not a dream then. But something that's for sure. Clause shook his head one thing was definitely true. He had finally at long long last had his fill of cheese. He hurried back inside and washed up before his parents called him out and manage to get presentable in time for breakfast where he shocked his parents by just having some toast over time Kloss realized the fairies had done him favor. He found himself swollen and sick less often. And now he only eight as much as a normal growing boy, which as any parent will say is still quite a lot. But it wasn't as desperate or greedy as it had been before Kloss eight what was given to him and never ever stole extra cheese ever ever again. Well, maybe just a nibble the end. Once upon a time in a sunny, little piece of forest, miss, our was sleeping soundly, her house was a towering oak tree, and her bedroom was a cozy little hollow in the trunk. She had been up all night hunting, the mice and bugs. She loved and her wings were tired. Her talents were tired, too. And so were her big, golden eyes, those eyes closed now and she was snoring with a tidy little who who sound hers was a deep sleep deeper than deep. She was enjoying the kind of sleep, you only get from days or Misao -als case nights hard work. It was the kind of sleep, or your body feels like smooth butter melting onto a warm pillow. He roll. It was the kind of sleep that brought only sweet dreams and left. You want. Wanting more more more to be a little more concise. It was the perfect kind of sleep at least furrow while unfortunately, it was rudely interrupted by a sudden shouted song. Well on aggress Hummer. I am the shells here. My leg seeing all night and day. Not if your knee or the chances, you'll hear a song from on astern played masterful. Fawley. Misao will jerked awake. So suddenly that she banged her feathered head on the roof of her cozy hollow. Her squawk of pain echoed out of the tree and her head followed a second later peering this way, and that she wasn't used to the sun. So it made her blink and squint. It was too bright for her sensitive is at night. She could spot a moth with nothing but a fingernail of moonlight to guide her during the day, though, she was nearly blind, what sold this terrible racket she called out since she couldn't see she yelled instead. Out there playing this time of day from somewhere, far below that same singing voice came ringing back. I see an will, but you're blind as a bat. I'm a grasshopper and it's my right and my nature to sing will never don't mind if you sing. But please don't do it outside of my bedroom. I'm trying to get some sleep. Well, we've established you have bad is. But I'm starting to thank you have bad egos, as well. You should be so lucky to hear my song for free. Do you even know who I am? Some annoying grasshopper. Misao all grumbled. I'm Ed Wood G hopper. I'm sure I don't the greenish glowed with the golden throat. I really don't the. Smug. Hail dawn of the real bug song. Please just stop the insect. You respect, please, would you the man of choice with the golden voice? Misao will found herself shouting, please enough. I just want to go back to sleep. Well, that was pretty rude of you just for that. I think I'll sing another verse. Trust me. Once you hear a little more, you'll be all about the Edward sound Misao l- shouted again. But it was no use somewhere far below Edward G hopper. Launched back into song. Well, I grasp very your just a Papa. It's lock you get to hear me for free Addy, if you listen, you'll soon me wishing that you had boy says as me. Only. When at last it was over Misao will polled back into her tree, hollow and hunker down that grasshopper would never let her sleep if it was night. She would flap down there and eat them up the forest knew she'd eaten enough crickets in her day. How different was a grasshopper really. The sunlight though it was just too bright for her is the same amazing ability, that led her see by just a sip of Starlight, also made the sun sting, her is even if she kept them mostly closed. What no applause called the grasshopper from somewhere in the forest scrub below, I guess you don't appreciate art Misao will wanted to argue again. But she knew it was. No good. The grasshopper wanted to be a pain and the more she fought the longer, he'd stay if she kept at it. He would probably be there all day. Now she decided it was better just to mind, her own business and try to sleep. I'm a grasshopper in. It's just proper that I should be blessed with the marvelous tone. You can try pretending that you're snoring. I'll just sing louder. You'll dot home. Misao will side but didn't get angry if she ignored him he would go away. It would work it had to work, and it seemed to work at least for a little the sunny woods grew, quiet. Again, the only song was the gentle buzz hum chirp of the forest before, long Misao will let herself, relax, again and soon, she was drifting back into that beautiful sleep. She was warm. She was cozy. She was a dandy lion. Puff floating weightless on a summer breeze. She was Honey rolling slow and syrupy down the comb she was in short perfectly at peace. Well, I'm and grasshopper wildly bummer, and I feel using deep in my heart. My ears into your New Year's. You'll move your feet and dance to my heart. Dan's my? He not is enough Misao will thought she had tried being nice. She had tried turning the other wing, but it wasn't working. It was time for a new plan. Luckily for her miss our will like all owls was very wise. It wasn't long at all before she had the perfect idea. I hate to say it Edward, but I was wrong. She called out your voice is better than a lullaby. He called back high new, you'd appreciate it. Eventually everyone loves Edward G Hoffa. It's true. She agreed your truly the greenish gloat with the golden throat. Hey, that's ride. You're the smug. He'll dawn of the real bug song. Keep talking are the insect. I respect hit me when one moa baby, you the man of choice with the golden voice. Oh, we've got a new fan. And the forest he said, I knew you'd come around. I have she agreed. In fact, I take it as a favor if you came up here into my home and sang for me just so I can hear you right up close. Of course, Edward called back anything for fan. One mighty leap at a time. The grasshopper climbed Misao lls mighty oak, his final leap carried him through the whole and into her cozy little hollow here. I am said Edward now last, should I perform Misao will smiled. She hadn't been able to see him outside in the bright, bright, sun. But in the shadows of her tree hollow, I have just the stage for you. She said, then with a quick predatory lunge. She swallowed the grasshopper hole in one mighty gulp. She said licking her beak that takes care of that, she leaned back in her hollow. That's sweet sleep already starting to wash over her. She began to drift off enjoying her hard earned silence. At last then from somewhere deep in her belly. The end. Daniel in the lion's den once upon a time in ancient Babylon there was a wise king named Darius. He ruled his lands fairly doing his best to hear every problem and help every person be they rich or poor soon. King Darius realized that one man simply couldn't do the job alone. There were too many people that needed help too. Many issues spread all across. The Kingdom. Darius was overwhelmed but that's when he had the idea gather the wisest the smartest the most engaged people in the kingdom he proclaimed and bring them to me here in the palace. His messengers spread like ants in the spring crawling back and forth over the kingdom gathering up the best and brightest light crumbs. They brought them to the king and he formed them into a council of the wise. From among the council he picked the three wisest Daniel. Julia and Buzzer King Darius. Put them in charge making them. The three leaders of the wise from that day on King Darius relied on the leaders and their council to handle the day to day problems of the kingdom. They did a good job. And for the most part everyone was happy healthy and had plenty of food to fill their bellies. It was a pleasant time for the kingdom and its neighbors the people celebrated King Darius and alongside him. They celebrated Daniel the wisest of the three leaders. The two would look down from the king's window and the crowds would roar their approval. I don't see why Daniel gets all. The praise sniffed junior. One day we're leaders to. Oh Daniel you're so great oh Daniel we love. You sneered Buzzer. I'm so over it. These two were jealous of Daniel. Because as wise as they were he was wiser and as clever as they could be he was more clever. Still they complain to each other endlessly about how it wasn't fair that they should be overshadowed and Daniel celebrated of course they were overlooking the fact that not only was Daniel wise. He also kind a trait. The common people loved and Julia and desert both seemed to lack and as the days went by with the Kingdom happy and thankful their bitterness only got worse and worse finally. They decided that in order for them to be the best of the best they had to get rid of Daniel. He's too smart to trick. Said genia her nose crinkly and anger. We have to make the king get rid of him but King Darius loves him. Besser said he'll never kick Daniel out. Yes he will whisper. We just have to find a reason. Why the pair of leaders follow Daniel every day and night for the next week waiting for him to do something wrong. They followed him from the market and they followed him to the church. They followed him all over Babylon and never once. Did they see him do anything to get him in trouble? The only interesting thing he did was pray. Each night to his God the God of Israel. He'd wish for good health for the king and for the people and he would thank God for his high position in life. Thank you Lord. He'd Finish Amen. Giunea and Buzzer got together after their week of spying and realized they'd come up with nothing. Daniel was a good man and he didn't so much as literate candy wrapper or cross the street. Crooked that may have made more sensible people realized they were in the wrong but this pair were totally blind with jealousy. They wanted to be the king's favorite and they decided if they couldn't do it. Honestly they do it. This honestly. Part of the job of the council leaders was to bring new laws to King Darius. These were usually little things meant to help the farmers and craftsmen of the city and improve overall life. Junior and Buzzer saw an opportunity there and drafted a law in secret. Just the two of them that anyone who prayed to anyone other than King Darius had to be punished there was no escape. No excuses or exceptions and the punishment was terrible. Anyone caught would be dragged to the far end of the palace and thrown in the lion's den and the Lions were always very very hungry. Julia and Buzzer slipped their law in with a dozen other laws and distracted King Darius as he signed them of course he trusted the pair. Nearly as much as Daniel and didn't have a reason to be suspicious. It felt to the king like a perfectly normal morning the next day during the time when Daniel always prayed junior and buzzer sent the palace guards to his room. They found him praying to the god of Israel and breaking the new law. Daniel was locked in chains and dragged before the king. Daniel King Darius said astonished. What is he doing here? Daniel what are you doing here? Yeah I don't know my friend. Daniel said I suspect something is Amiss. Sir said GIUNEA. He broke your law. He prayed to the god of Israel and not to you. What craziness is the king snapped? He can pray to whomever he likes as long as he's good to the people of Babylon I'm happy to have him. I'm sorry Sir said Bizzare showing him the new law the king had signed. But you passed this law just yesterday my king. The king snatched the law and read it on his throne his space growing Paler. His is wider as he went. This can't be. He muttered as he went. I don't remember deciding this nor do i King Darius said Daniel. He realized what was happening but he seems strangely unconcerned showing me legal scholars. The king called and they were summoned together. They read the new law front to back and back to front and even upside down but no matter how they read it. It said the same thing I I'm sorry Daniel. The king said finally it's the law. I have to throw you in the lion's den. Yeah don't worry about it. Said Daniel Smiling. Even in his chains. I wouldn't have changed for some nonsense law. Even if I had known. Faith is important to me and the God of Israel won't let me be harmed because of it. The king nodded kindly. But he didn't see how the God of Israel would protect his dear friend from a pride of hungry. Lions junior and buzzer smiled at each other. They'd gotten away with it and now Daniel was going to be dinner and out of the picture now. They want the wisest of the wise and the people would cheer their names. It was perfect. The next morning Daniel was dragged in his chains to the far end of the palace. There set into the stone of the floor was the lion's den. I'm sorry Daniel King Darius said I don't want to do this but the law is the law. I can't give you special treatment. Daniels smiled and laid a hand on his friend's shoulder Dole. Worry my king. He said I have faith. And the God of Israel's knocking to let me get harmed. Wish I could believe you. The king said and then he gave the signal. Some guards cranked giant wheel and slowly. The iron cover of the lion's den lifted into the air underneath was giant. Sandy pit walled with stone and full of prowling roaring hungry. Lions junior and buzzer smiled at one. Another a secret sly smile. I can't watch King Darius said and he fled from the lion's den before Daniel could be thrown in all that night he couldn't sleep couldn't eat couldn't rest every time he closed his eyes. He saw his friend in the lion's den and they snapped open again. It was a long and miserable night full of long and miserable shadows the next morning as soon as the Sun Up. King Darius ran back to the far end of the palace the guards were already there and junior and buzzer still smiling smugly under the heavy iron lid. They could hear the lions contented purring. Sounds like they ate well. Besser whispered to Judea and they both laughed. Open the lion's den. The king said. I can't bear to wait any longer. The guards turned the wheel again and the Iron Lid rose slowly into the Air Daniel Daniel. The king called not daring to look Daniel. Did you survive unlikely whispered Julia Fat? Chance agreed buzzer. Then from deep in the lion's den. Good Morning Friends Call Daniel. My faith was rewarded. An Angel came and closed the lion's jaws so they couldn't bite me. It was awesome a miracle called the King Tears of happiness rolling freely down his cheeks. Get him out of there. A ladder was lowered and Daniel climbed out of the lion's den when he emerged. The king gave him a hug and apologized. I've struck down. That Law Darius said people can pray to whomever they'd like as long as they're good to each other. Why shrieked June more jealous of Daniel than ever? You're going to change the law. This is ridiculous. The lions like probably just weren't hungry. Yeah agreed buzzer. Look at this. He lay down on his stomach and stretched his hand into the pit wiggling his fingers see. They're just not hungry. But just as he said it. A lioness leaped into the air with a snarl buzzer screamed and jerks his hand back the jaws snapping shut inches below. Not Hungry said the king laughing you know last night. I thought a lot about where that strange law may have come from and I remembered you and of visiting the day before with a stack to sign. I wonder who it was. That wrote such a brutal punishment. The king turn to stare angrily at junior and Buzzer. I think you two should be gone by tomorrow or else. We'll try this whole lion's den thing just one more time. The pair looked at each other and then turned and ran from the palace. They kept running and running until they were out of the kingdom and no one ever saw them again back at the Lion Ston. The king turned to Daniel. I'm glad you made it through but I'm confused a little water. You confused about friend. Daniel asked as they walked to the throne room. The man's still had the same quiet confidence as always as though spending the night with the pride of hungry. Lions was just asleep over at his aunt's house. If the God of Israel is watching out for you why wouldn't he? Just keep you out of the lion's den. Why let you get thrown in at all? Daniel smiled his gentle smile. My friend Mike King. Faith doesn't always keep you out of hard situations but faith does always bring you home safe home. Well said my friend said King Darius well said the king made Daniel the greatest of all his advisers and for many years they solve problems and made new laws to make lives better and throughout it. All everyone was always allowed to have faith and they could express it however they chose the end today story. The bear was getting bulky for hibernation. His thick legs looked like Harry. Telephone poles. His massive body was like a jiggling shaggy car, even his luxurious neck had more roles than your local bakery, truly he was a sight to see. In fact, he was so big that none dare to bother him. And he feared nothing in the forest. He strolled through like a king plotting on pause bigger than pancakes. Skillets soon enough. He caught the scent of something sweet on the wind. He lifted his nose and sniffed at the air turning his round shaggy head this way and that making his little tulip ears flop over. Yes. He thought to himself definitely something. Good. And sweet he pushed on into the forest the trees were clinging desperately to their remaining greenery like overprotective mother's. But when the bears shaggy rump knocked into them their leaves rain down onto his back more often than not the bear ignored the brush and just shouldered his way through the most direct path was the fastest path. And when food was involved fastest was always best. Bear bear, a great big bear wandering through. The would there pair the biggest old bear eating? All he could. Once was great big there. Oh, laundered through would he dated like to share all he ate? And it's Billy went on. Has he talked. Long. They're they're a great big bear. Wandering through. Though would pair pair the biggest old bear. The bear came onto a little clearing in the woods there. He found his reward. It was a blackberry Bush with some stubborn berries still clinging to the thorny branches. They must be the last ones of the season. What luck he waddled closer mouth starting to spill drool down into his soft Brown for his long tongue? Lol doubt like a happy dogs in a blink the first buried disappeared inside his fuzzy muzzle. It had a little of the tart slightly sour taste of fall. But it was still delicious. The bear went wild stripping the branches of every last berry. He could find the bear wasn't the only one interested in the berries though on a branch nearby. A BI was collecting nectar much like the berries, the b was one of the last. Of the season most hives had already gone to ground, but not this little guy. He gathered the nectar quickly and was about to fly back to his hive when the bear eight the berry flower he was on and nearly swallowed him whole. Well that was rude. The be thought I should teach that Hungary bear a lesson. The bear was eating faster and faster humming. Happily to himself as he stripped, the branches clean. He was so lost in his eating that he didn't notice the be at all until it buzzed up and stung him right on the nose. They're a they're a great big bear wandering through though. Would there bear the bear eating all he could? There was a great big. They're through. To share all eight. He found some berries three. Oh said these are just the thing. He did in see the B O. It gave us take. And it's Billy went. Being as he walked. Revelation in every time he talked. They're they're a great big bear wandering through would. They're the biggest old bear eating. The bare roared in pain as the little stinger poked into his Snuffy black knows he pod at his face and knocked the stinger free. But the B had already bumbled away. He growled looking from the B to the berries and back to the be part of him thought. He should just let it go. It was only one little sting, and there were still plenty of berries to eat the other part of him, though, the angry part thought that revenge would be even sweeter than the berries. Unfortunately for the bear the angry part one out with another roar. He lumbered after the b he chased it through the brush and bushes. He chased it over hills and under trees the bear was faster, but the be could fly. So it was a pretty even race. Finally, the bear chased the b to the edge of a lazy. River the dirty water flowed slowly by carrying the first of the fallen autumn leaves downstream the be dodged through a stand of waving cattail plants and darted into an old dead. Log that lay by the river's edge. The bear pounded up to the log and slammed it with his great pause. The law groaned and creaked and from inside came a mighty buzzing noise. Louder and louder it grew until the very air of the forest seemed alive and shaking with the buzz. The bear was too mad to hear it. He lifted himself up for another mighty blow. They're a bear a great big bear wandering through would bear. History bear eating all he could. They're all wondered through the. I'd like to share eight. He found some berries free. These are just the thing. See the the oh. He did through the trees dog flew, and though it was to be. So he tried to crash on through and belly. Long long every talked. They're they're a great big bear wandering through though would. The pistol bear. The bare raised his giant body up onto his hind legs standing taller than any human ever had he roared with rage. And also with the effort of moving so much bulk at once with a final grunt he slammed down into the log. It's shattered into pieces and the b flew out and wobbled away. Yes. Thought the bear you stung my nose. And I've destroyed your house. See what you get when you mess with me. But then another be flew out and another and a dozen more. It was only then that the bear heard the buzzing that fill the air and seen to shake the ground. It grew louder and louder still until it filled his ears as well. And then hundreds of bees poured from the log surrounding the bear in hovering angry cloud. Well, thought the. Bear. This may have been a mistake, then the bees attacked like a cloud of teeth. They darted in and out stinging the bear on his neck and back in Roly, poly, bum his thick fur and fat protected him from the worst of it. But still stung roaring again. But with fear this time he lumbered over to the river's edge and threw himself into the dirty water. He plunged in and under the autumn waters trembling at the cold but feeling relief as the stingers pulled free. The bees let him float away confident that he learned his lesson and learned it he had as he pulled himself wet and shaking from the river. He thought to himself it would be better next time to ignore the one little sting rather than getting mad and earning a hundred more truly he thought lumbering back into the forest in search of food. Some things are. The best left alone. Bear a pair a great big bear wandering through the wood. The old bear beating all he could. Great big they're wandering through. He liked share eight. Found some berries free as or just the thing. He did see the B O it gave him quite a sting. He through the trees into law get flu. And though it. He tried to crash. Came swarming out. All gave a hundred stings not bear jumped in the street. I'll just do scape. And he learned that day. Oh, his lesson. And he's spore better to let when barb golden urn a hundred four and Tom. Tumble on. He walked. Bear bear, a great big bear wandering through would Babb stole bear eating. Good. The and. There were hundreds of them each as happy and puffy as a cloud. They spent their days wandering across the land chomping down the thick green grass and playing in the flowers the shepherd was often away. But it didn't matter. The sheep were protected by two giant sheepdogs, the dogs took their jobs, very seriously, and they spent their days circling, the sheep keeping them close and watching for threats in the distance. It was a peaceful place, but occasionally a wolf or FOX or wild hound would slink close smelling one hundred dinners, of course, the great sheepdogs were bigger even than the wolves. So they had no trouble driving them away from their fluffy friends, the dogs did a good job. But they weren't perfect. After all there were only a few of them. And there were so many sheep one little lamb was especially troubling for them. Her name was kiddo. And she was forever. Wandering away after flowers or sweet smells on the wind. No matter how many times the dogs warned her not to now. Listen, kiddo old cap would growl. He was the oldest and sternest of the sheepdogs. There things in these fields things in these woods nearby. That would just love to have you for dinner. Do you want to end up a meal for some wild? Mutt? Me kiddo. Exclaimed her big Dewey is going wide. Jeez. Cap. Layoff said tatters you'll scare the life out of the poor thing. Yeah. Chimed in Kitto. Glad for the interruption. You'll scare the life out of my poor thing old cap grumbled and started to Pat away just stay closer and pay better. Attention. He called over his shoulder. We've got too many of you cotton balls for me to always have one eye on you, kiddo. Looked up guiltily at tatters. Don't give the old man. Too hard. A time tatters said tail wagging. We just wants to keep you safe. I won't tatters. She said smiling in the wide way that always seemed to put the grownups Addy's. You're all right, kiddo. He said turning to look out over the flock. We have good ears. Anyway, you ever. Get lost. You just keep hollering. All right. All right tatters. She said, but she was already looking off into the distance at a particularly dark green. Patch of grass she trotted over an eight for a while taking her time as the rest of the herd float around her not to days later. The heard swan closer to the forest to find fresh grass being so near the woods made the sheepdogs nervous, the sheep needed to eat though. And because there were so many they always had to keep moving most new to keep well away from the darkness of the forest, but kiddo. She was prancing along at the edge of the heard happy and carefree as always she probably would have been fine. If not for a passing butterfly. Oh, oh, kiddo said the butterfly was violet dappled with blue and gold it fluttered by her just out of reach. Come back. She scampered after the butterfly it bobbed high and she tried to jump after it it dips low, and she crawled along on her belly giggling it danced past one tree and another and kiddo lound on after it finally it disappeared over a thorny thicket and kiddo had to pull up short. No fair. She said still giggling she tried to look around the thicket. But the butterfly was gone. Oh, well, she said, but when she turned to rejoin the flock, she realized a terrible truth. She had chased the butterfly deep into the woods. How had she not noticed fear nestled in her little heart and suddenly the friendly trees felt dark and looming. What do I do? She said. And then remembered the advice she had gotten from tatters to holler out if she ever got into trouble tatters. Lost. She called and heard her own words echo among the trees. She listened hard for a moment. And was that. Yes. It was another voice calling back to her. It was hard to pinpoint sound in the woods. But she made her best guests and started off towards the noise. She kept your ears open as she walked following the voice. She soon realized it wasn't someone yelling back to her. It was someone singing tatters old cap is that you she asked. But it wasn't the dogs who answered. Oh, are you lost you poor little lamb, kiddo turned and felt a squeak escape? Her Lammi lips there. Perched on an old oak, stump was a giant red, FOX. She had white around her mouth and at the tip of her tail but whitest of all were her needle teeth shining out from her wide unsettling smile. Oh. Hello said Kitto were you singing? But of course, said the FOX I have the finest voice in the forest. Everyone knows it's true. Well, I was just heading back to the pastor's. Maybe you could tell me which way is out of here. The FOX jumped nimbly from the stump. She was bigger than the young lamb and her tongue LOL from her mouth leave so soon, but you're just in time for dinner. Oh, dinner what what's for dinner, the FOX circled behind and kiddo turn to keep her in her site. Well, it was going to be a rabbit. But now, I'm thinking, I'll have a little lamb Kido started to shake she couldn't outrun or outfight a FOX. What could she do? She started to call. But the FOX put a Claude Pau on her mouth and shut it enough of that, kiddo. Squeaked. What could she do? She had to make noise. So the dogs would here and come save her. Now, any last requests, the FOX purred before you have the honor of being eaten by the best singer in the florist, the best singer kiddo thought, maybe she could use that. She swallowed fighting to keep the tremble from her voice. Are you truly the best singer in the forest? No, one has a finer voice than I know one that gave kiddo an idea. Don't know. I've always been told the best singer in the flock. She said, of course, no one had ever told her any such thing. But the FOX didn't know that you. Oh, there's no way a little lamb like you can match the voice of a fine FOX like me. Well, maybe not. But I haven't really heard you sing little lamb. I was singing when you found me. Where are you? I'm sorry with these will years. I don't hear so well doesn't matter. Anyway, I'm definitely better. You can just have me for dinner get rid of the competition. I get it. The FOX snarled and sat back her bottle brush tail swaying dangerously. No, you'll pull the wool out of those years. And listen before I eat you understand kiddo coward back. Hiding her sudden smile wall. If you insist the FOX cleared her throat and jumped back on her stump as though it were a stage. Listen, well, now, supper and learn who is the best. I'm the fine in the full risk the Queen volumes. See I can sing. Download no one compares to me. No question. It's gay teed. Pose the fire. The fine escapees me. He I told you. Yeah. That was really good. I guess I don't know. I I don't really know if you're the best yet. That's ridiculous. Let me let me try another one. Oh, baby. Your adorable cute and not to eat. But listen to these dulcet tones, you know, you can't compete you. Don't question. It's. Who's the fine? The finest is me did you hear how good it was that time, you know, it might be just the wool in my ears. Could you try singing a lot louder Hokke you asked for it? I'm the fine is seeing the forest the Queen of all you see I can sing answering. Download oh one comparison me. No question. It's good. Who's the fine? The fun. Yes. A wonderful song. Pima gruff voice. Wasn't it? Tatters truly the finest in the forest tatters. Agreed. The two sheepdogs came from the woods to stand on either side of Kitto big as the FOX was the dogs towered over her. Yes. Thank you said, the FOX, I think I should be going. Now, I'll give you to the count of three tatters said the FOX turned to go three barked old cap immediately and the FOX stumbled and scurried away into the brush, kiddo sank to the ground nearly crying in relief. Thank you. Thank you. She said I thought I was a goner totter smiled at her tail wagging clever trick with the singing we came looking when we noticed you were gone, but we never would have found you without the sound to follow. What next time old cap grumbled? Maybe just don't wander off alone. Kiddo kind won't she said. And she mostly meant it the dogs guided her back to the heard, and as they went tatters couldn't help himself on the finest in the forest. I'm the Queen of all you see the boom. But do good. But don't boom, boom. They all laugh together as they rejoined the heard and while Kitto was still well a kid after her scare in the woods. She cared. A little more strayed a little less and never got lost in the woods again. The end. Today's story kiddo. And the FOX was an adaptation of a traditional fable written for you by Daniel Hynes and performed for you buy me, Amanda Weldon with songs bias both. Thanks for listening.

One hundred times it's even worse than I thought it would be. I'd rather be living in the woods with a family of rabid skunks than be in this house. Okay. Maybe that's a little dramatic. Let me start over we moved in with cliff this week. I know I should have been prepared my friends, Mattie and Rachel they warned me over and over. But did I listen, of course, not then after three very quick years cliff in mom got married earlier this month once that was out of the way, it was always the plan to move into his house. And well here we are. I guess I just thought it wouldn't happen or maybe just that it wouldn't happen. So fast. Time is weird. Isn't it? I was dreading having to leave the little apartment where mom and I lived together for the past ten years. I was dreading it so bad that the days passed like a TV show in fast forward when your dogs. It's on the remote. And you can't get it out from under him, you're frustrated and your show is getting ruined. But you're not allowed to be mad because the dog just looks so happy to be on the couch with you so upsetting on the other hand when you're really looking forward to something like say summer vacation starting every day seems to drag on and on it feels like it'll never arrive like someone is pasting extra days onto the calendar. They're like, oh that it's just the triple of June. Everyone knows that June has an extra triple tucked away in there. Yeah. Yeah. Triple isn't a real word since this is a new diary, I filled my old one again, I guess I should explain in case I ever get famous and someone reads these or something. I like to make up words it started. When I was just learning to write and didn't know any better. I thought making up words was the kind of thing any old person could do back, then I had words like thraw chal, which is what our old washer did when there were too many towels inside or there was prickly which is the word I use to describe the feeling of really having to use the bathroom. Don't worry. I grew out of that one. Anyway, I'm writing this in my new room at cliffs house. It's nice enough. I guess it's definitely bigger than my room at the apartments, and I got to paint it, whatever color. I wanted. I chose this cute earthy pink that the paint store called happenstance, which is just as made up a word as anything I've ever crummy lated with the pain. I also got a new bed and some posters on the wall of some good artists and bands. I like I also got to put my vanity right in my room. Just like Mattie and rate have at their houses, which is cool, but still all the pink, walls and. Posters in the world wouldn't make me happy to be here. I used to write a new song practically every day in my last diary, but I just can't hear it's like this place is just smothering my creativity. I don't know since I can remember it's been just me and mom on our own. Sure things were tough sometimes. But we always had each other cliff is nice, and all and I know mom loves him. But why did they have to go and get married couldn't they have just kept dating him in this house me and mom at the apartment. It's just not the same here. The air smells weird the toilets too, high the sink sprays funny. Worst of all cliff has been trying extra hard to make me feel at home. Guess what? Cliff? I'd feel at home. If I was I don't know at home. He made me breakfast this morning. Sure. Great. But he said the English Muffin had cooks nannies and then laughed at his own joke. Doc, cooks and nannies. It's nooks and crannies cliff. And it's not even funny. I basically stormed out without eating I need to stop. I'm giving myself occult. That's another one I made up a Paul is. That thing you get before you cry where you can feel the tears a lump in your throat and behind your eyes and in your brain. It's absolutely Detroit. -able I'll let you figure out what that one means. I give up writing tonight. No, more diary, definitely no new song. I'm gonna go read awhile. Instead, keep a chill daffodil Maya. April twelfth. Finally, I found something good about cliffs house. Her name is good lady maple and I spent the weekend Gibraltan her. I should clarify Gibraltan means exploring in a lazy way and good lady maple is a tree she's what I named the honk and big maple in the corner of cliffs backyard. Why did I name her that? I'm glad you asked. She's an elderly tree tall and thick around the trunk with the kind of dignity. You only see old ladies, I was pretty sure she was a maple. So I brought mama leaf. And she confirmed it our old apartment didn't have a yard. There was a parked on the street that I loved, but this is nice too on the downside. There aren't any other people here. But on the upside there aren't any other people here, that's a little confusing. But if you're like me, you'll get it. Sometimes I just want to be surrounded by people, even if I'm not hanging out with them, and we're just sharing the same park. It's nice. You feel safe and warm and kind of cozy other times though, I've had enough of people. I wanna get a book or my diary and just hide away somewhere somewhere, quiet and safe somewhere. There's no one to bother me somewhere like good lady maple when I first went up in her branches, the wind blowing through sounded almost like music, and I was so close to being able to write a song again, so close like I said, she's in the back corner of cliffs yard just passed a big dirt patch since she's so old. There's lots of good limbs for climbing and swinging and halfway up. There's two limbs together that form a perfect seat. I settled up there and read my book for hours on Sunday. It was nice mom and cliff. Even brought me my lunch out there. It was my favorite moms tuna salad, which is always scrim dingus. Of course, I still shared the crusts with the squirrels and the tree next door. You always gotta be cool. To the neighbors Tepa chilled affidavit Maya. April fifteenth. Did I mention that? I hate it here because I hate it here. I just got a talking to did you ever get a talking to if you haven't let me explain it's different than normal talking with a talking to you get pulled aside by someone mom in my case, and they speak in this weird whisper that bites off every word like you're mad at your own sentence. All I did was put my feet up on cliffs stupid table. I know I know he asked me not to. But whatever it's just a table. He didn't even say anything to me. It was mom who pulled me aside and got all over me about being respectful in my new home. I didn't say anything to her because I didn't wanna get in more trouble. But my home, I don't think. So this is cliffs house. I'm just a Martian who happened to crash land here at least that's what it feels like. Anyway, I got out of there as fast as I could I'm writing this from good lady maple now up here where I sit it feels like my own little world. The rustling leaves are my walls and these thick old limbs or my furniture. There's no mom and no cliff. And know anyone that makes me think all the by yourself words are sad. Like lonely alone. Isolated remote they all sound so negative. I need a word for one year alone. But happy. Really, it's ridiculous. It doesn't already exist. So let me see alone. But happy. Soden? I'm feeling so tint. Keep it chill. Daffodil? Maya. April. Twentieth for homework today, we have to write a poem a poem. Normally I'd be all over this. Well, I didn't really like poems until my mom pointed out that they're just songs without music. Obviously, I love writing songs. So that kind of gave me a window into poetry now. When I read a good poem. I kinda sing it to it really helps. Anyway, I've been having trouble writing poems or songs or whatever lately. So I thought I was going to fail this assignment for sure. But that kind of gave me an idea. What if I wrote about what's giving me trouble? Well, once I had that idea the song, basically wrote itself, I guess I've been having a lot of feelings lately big surprise there. Anyway, I just finished for class turns out, it's pretty easy to rhyme. When you don't mind if you made up words, you wanna hear it? Okay. This houses. Please take me home. I miss the old rooms with Korea. Blay flow. Hours. This house is God's please. Take me home. I want my old windows and Strobel. Isn't it? The colors look. So this house does and feel like home to me. My home was so Preet. Palese take me home. I feel like a Martian Lawson zip Lee. My home was alive. Take me home. I wish I felt normal and toes if. Right. Isn't it? I barely Sma. This house. Does doesn't feel like homes in the? Isn't in. When school nine CHAI, this house doesn't feel like home to me. Keep it chilled. Fidel maya. April twenty second. I'm in my room hiding under the covers this place is the worst. I just wanna go home. I wanna go to my real home my apartment, I wanna stop crying. This is also stupid. Okay. Get it together. Maya your strong, beautiful hilarious talented, girl. Come on now. Okay. So basically cliff hates me. I went back to go sit in the good lady maple and the ground under her was all disturbed when I got closer. I saw cliff had buried some hard flagstone all around the tree. What does he want me to fall and crack my head, I guess climbing his tree is even worse than putting my feet up on the table. What's next some kind of Pitt and spikes or maybe a crocodile filled mode. I don't know what. But it's definitely not welcoming. And I'm feeling completely utterly excoriated by the whole situation in case you're wondering that's a word. I just made up for angry and sad and insulted all at once. It's a big field. Doing so big it feels like it might burst right out of my chest. Whatever I live here now. And he wasn't going to scare me off that easy. Picked my way over the rocks and climbed up good lady maple. Anyway, I started to read my book. But I was so stupid that I just gave up and went inside after only an hour. And here, I am writing this entry. I'm trying with cliff. But just when he seems okay, he goes and changes, my only favorite spot. I'm just over it. They called me for dinner, and I told him I wasn't hungry. I'm not either. I'm too full of feelings to eat anything. Does that make sense if you have feelings like I do you'll get it? Keep a chill daffodil Maya. April twenty fifth. So maybe I've been too hard on cliff. Maybe he's great. I woke up this morning to thunder. That was okay at first because it Saturday no school or anywhere to be when I don't have to go outside. I find thunderstorms relaxing, the raging wind the Blache ING thunder and lightning the constant tip tap topping of the rain. I actually snuggled in deeper wrapping myself up in the blankets like a baby. Then I remembered I had left my book and good lady maple. I pictured it out there getting soaked in the rain and blown around by the wind. I imagined at stinky, and scorched from lightning blasts. I would never know how it ended. I threw on random close in the dark. I probably look like a weirdo. But I didn't even care. I just needed to run back to the corner of the yard and get that book before it was completely ruined. What's the rush? Mom, said to me as I ran through the kitchen, she was dripping wet just in from the rain herself cliff was at the stove something sizzling in front of him slowdown and have a bite could. Oh, he said let my book outside gotta get it. I said it came out fast. Like one great big word. I barely even slowed down to pull my boots on Iran off the back patio. And when I hit the grass, it was so wet my feet shot out from under me, and I fell right on my. But but I got up and kept going, and when I got to the tree I basically fainted at how silly I'd been the rain fell hard and the dirt around the tree had filled with water. Of course, there is no grass and nowhere for it to go. It was basically a small pond. There was no way to get up into the good lady maple except for the stones cliff had lied. I had thought they were random before. But in that, pouring, rain, cliffs careful design was obvious. It was a path a winding path of stone islands in a mud. Puddle? See each one placed perfectly within reach of the next. I felt a pulp in my throat cliff had done this for me. I had been so mad. At the silly rocks. And they were just so perfect. I needed a word a new word a sudden realization that something you didn't like is actually wonderful useful and good. Let's see. You Tiffany with the stones. I had a you Tiffany soaking wet. Now, I crossed from stone to stone. And then climbed up into my tree. Luckily, her heavy leaves had kept off most of the water. I sat for a long minute. Letting the wind blow around me in the rain roll down my face. Thanks, good, lady maple. I was spurred to our enjoy the rain. I touched the book under my hoodie and ran back inside when I came in the back door, I could hear laughing in the kitchen. I shrugged off my outer layer of wet clothes. And then followed the laughter and the smell of crispy bacon. It was mom who is laughing her smile wide and honest. It was the kind of happy smile you can't fake. She was laughing at cliff who had served her breakfast and was towelling off her hair. She ate you really don't have to cook. She said still smiling, and you didn't have to run to the store, but these are the terrible sacrifices. We make for love mom laughed again and leaned back against him. He paused drying her hair long enough to give her a hug both of them were still smiling and still laughing stones in water. I thought suddenly looking at cliff there in the kitchen doorway, I had my second. You Tiffany of the day. He really loves her any makes her happy. I started smiling for the first time in what felt like weeks. Mom, took a sip of her coffee. And then saw me standing there. You get your book. Mom, asked me, I held it up with a smile and then set it on the table. Can I get you something to eat your mom, devoured, all the bacon? But I can do some more mom elbowed him clearly in the gut. Just a couple English muffins would be great. I said to English muffins coming up. Yes. Please. I said taking a seat they both smiled at me. And for the first time, I let myself feel at home. It felt good for second. Then I just I don't know. All I could think of was how terrible I'd been to cliff. He had been nice to me. And I'd just been a jerk to upset about moving to even think about anyone else. But it was never too late. I decided then that I'm going to be nicer if someone's kind to me, I should at least be kind. I'm back. But I wasn't sure how to do it. Hey, cliff. I said how about some jelly for those cooks nannies. There was a pause, and then mom and cliff laughed. And then I was laughing too. It felt good. It just felt really good. Keep it chill. Daffodil? Maya. The end. Today story keep a chill daffodil was written for you by Daniel Hynes and performed for you buy me, Amanda Weldon with a song bias both. find a husband for his daughter along time ago it was customary for fathers to do things like this and Mr Rack took this responsibility very seriously he was an old rat his for John Gray and bushy his tail ragged and his whiskers chewed his daughter though she was a great beauty at least he she thought so her tail was long and pink her whiskers fine silver needles her for soft as any kitten and her little squeaky voice wastes brought joy to all who heard it her name was occur which means Cherry Blossom Mr Rat had chosen it for his daughter because she had the loveliest knows of the Palest pink just like the flowers he saw every spring to him she was perfect and she deserved the best husband in the world my daughter my Sikora Cherry blossom on the wind he said when she sat down for dinner you must have a husband tell me who you want and we can make it show sequeira smiled over her rice well she she said a little smile tugging at her whiskers she had been expecting this conversation to tell you the truth I do have someone one in mind watch who her father asked tail twitching Seora she said her is is far away and sparkling when she said his name it was like wind through the Cherry blossoms no doubt she was in love love Mr Rat spluttered that Lisi rat who lives in a box down the road no no way he's chewing us a house in the outer wall it's almost done I said no Kara absolutely not no lowly radish good enough for my daughter but Dad Sikora said patiently we are rats her father slap his paw on their little table sending rice leaping into the air rats of course where Rach he said as Sokaia pulled rice from her where rats but your special the smartest the funniest damn the prettiest are true catch whiskers like silver needles hair are soft as a cat knows pink as at Cherry blossom no rat will do for you know you deserve a husband worthy of such earthshaking beauty eh but who in the world is strong enough to deserve you he leaped up scattering the rice occur had just finished cleaning she rolled her eyes familiar with her father's dramatics oh I've got it he said not in the world not on in the world I should say who is worthy of my wonderful daughter but the sun itself shining golden in the sky the sun that lights the world The Sun but dad I don't want to marry the son I want to marry Seora now a little rat like that isn't worthy of a beauty like you you'll only have the best think of it's a curragh the son who stronger than that no one now that's so good husband I mean I think a good husband is probably one that loves me a lot and wants to build the same kind of life as me and also maybe isn't molting wanting lava hot all the time details details Sikora tried to find an argument that would convince him but her father wouldn't listen and no more arguing he said finally I'm going to bed and when we get up tomorrow we're going to ask the sun to marry you it'll be my son in law he slammed his bedroom door behind him ending the conversation S- occur sat and worried over her rice until it grew cold and clumpy she knew it was customary for fathers to plan their daughter's marriages but she didn't think it was fair she knew that he loved Tur- and wanted the best for her but why should her dad get to decide who she spent her life with it was her life it didn't really make sense she didn't want to marry the son she didn't WanNA marry anyone but seora luckily Sikora wasn't just a pretty rat with silver needle whiskers I she was also a smart and determined one it took a few more hours and a whole pot of tea but finally secure thought of a clever ver- plan she snuck out that night and talk to the sun and a few others they agreed to her plan and when Mr Rat woke up the next morning morning everything was in place so he called when he was up and dressed are you ready to go and find your husband end the pretty and smart and determined rats came out of her room wearing a beautiful robe one that really brought out the pink in her nose yes father other let's go and talk to the sun they lived in the walls of a large house and outside was a sprawling garden the two rats wove around round the spring blooms and scurried up to the top of a nearby hill it was the first place the Sun touched each morning and seems to Mr rat like a fitting place for proposal well here we are he said to his daughter now go ahead and ask like I taught you oh do I you really have to further roll dad come on secure aside and then looked up at the sun strongest clear can be orene the sun looked down from the sky smiling at the rats Mr Mr Rats and the lovely and clever Sikora he said that's a wonderful offer but I'm afraid I'm not who you're looking for Mr rat looked confused his whiskers furrowed my daughter deserves the best the strongest and that's you you can light the world how could it be anyone else the sun frowned I may be bright and strong but the clouds are stronger than me I can shine down but they can block my light and cast a shadow over everything now that strong and that's who I'd want my my daughter to marry Mr Rat thought about that for a second playing with his tail well if the son says the clouds are or stronger I guess he'd be the one to know thank you for your honesty son now come on secure let's go talk to the clouds as he led her away Sikora looked over over her shoulder at the sun the sun looked back at her and winked so far so good Mr rat founded distant cloud in the sky and they made their way through the gardens until they were in its shadow once he felt like they had a suitable spot on a shady stump he nudged soccer forward. You are the strongest lear in the cloud looked down at the rats and rumbled it's voice like thunder under oh thank you little rats but I'm not as strong as all that but you'll block the sun that lights the world cried cried Mr rat what can be stronger than that oh I can block the sun but I'm helpless before the wind it comes blowing in and pushing me around whenever it wants that really strong I tried to catch the wind for my daughter if I were you the wind said Mr rat slapping his own forehead of course so strong so elegant come on child let's go get you the wind Sikora let her father pull her away turning to share one last sly smile with the clouds they spent all afternoon chasing the wind back can fourth across the gardens it was fast and strong and though they were quick the rats couldn't keep up finally they cornered it where the hedges has met the trees quick daughter Mr Rats said pushing her forward before it can get away again and are the strongest clear Clo- main the wind whistled and whipped and howled somewhere in that blowy breeze of voice voice rang out the clouds and leaves and even the trees bend before me but still I'm not as strong as as you think what come on you can even blow the clouds that blocked the sun that lights the world but look at the thick walls of the house where you live I've I been trying to blow that down for years and years and I haven't even shifted them an inch that's real strange saying I know if I was getting married that's who I want Oh yes yes the walls Mr Rat said getting frantic now of course thank you he grabs occurs hand and started pulling her away come on now we've wasted most of the day we already only to be led back to our own wall I should have seen

Once upon a time there was an old farmer named Sarah who loved her flowers. She had giant fields full full of them stretching in neat rows across the gently rolling fields. They were famous for being the brightest colored the sweetest smelling and the most perfectly please shaped flowers in all the land and her tulips especially where legendary for their beauty. Hello my loves Sarah would say each morning. Walking out to ten her fields she would check the soil to make sure it was not to wet and not too dry. She would inspect each stem and bulb for signs of fungus or bulb rot. She was a terror to snails and slugs and aphids and other pests who tried to eat her beauties and chased them away anytime any time. They came near her neighboring farmers more often than not found her on her hands and knees bottom in the air and face in the dirt adding just just a little bone meal or Mulch or trimming off dead leaves. Good Morning Sarah. They'd say the tulips are looking especially well today. Sarah would answer not bothering to look up from her plans. I don't suppose you'd sell some of your tulip bulbs this year would you. They'd ask and they'd always ask. I've told you know. Never Sarah would snap and that would be the end of that until a few weeks later when another another neighbor would try. They were always trying to get her bulbs. They grew tulips as well but they were never quite as bright as Sarah's never seem to have the same same playful tilt of stem and turn of leaves that made people gasp with delight. The other farmers would share bulbs back and forth if one had a particularly lovely shade of pink they trade it with a neighbor for a sunshiny yellow or a deep blushing red. Of course they were competing with each other for sales but not really there were always plenty of buyers for their tulips. And even though they're flowers weren't quite as perfect as Sarah's they never had any trouble getting by that's why they were all happy to share and get along all except for Sarah. Of course things went along this way until one year it was especially windy cindy the breezes build through the bulbs making them Bob and bobble brightly. The winds gentle finger swirled around the stems and sent the pollen soaring for weeks. The air was tinged yellow and it gathered dust on farmers and homes and flowers alike. Now in case you don't know. Pollen is very important for flowers. The only way tulips can make new seeds is if the pollen from the top falls down into to the bottom of the bulb usually this happens with pollen from the flower itself or maybe from flowers planted nearby when it's windy though. All sorts sorts of things can happen things. Sarah had no use for. What is this. She cried out one morning when her new crop of Tulips was beginning getting to flower my beauties my babies. They were still. They're still healthy as ever but there was a small problem along the edges of her fields where they neared her neighbors some of her. Tulips didn't shine quite as bright. They didn't have playful tilt of stem turn of leaves. They were still wonderful beautiful magnificent flowers just not quite as perfect. Oh this won't do. There's won't do at all. Sarah looked into some of her neighbors fields. Some of her neighbors. Tulips were brighter for a white hot doc minute. Sarah thought they had managed to steal some of her seeds but then she realized the truth. It was the wind. The breezy weeks had spread spread. Her neighbors pollen into her tulips and vice versa. They hadn't been able to get her bulbs but they've still gotten some of her flowers. Looks like a little cross pollination A neighbor called well. We'll all be better for it. Nothing like some new pollen to make a flower healthy and strong. If I write of course you'd say that snapped Sarah. You got my beauties and I got your your my what said the neighbor waiting for the insult. Your your dim bulbs all right. Don't blame me. You can't stop the wind that what you think. Sarah shouted and then stalked away back to her fields. She looked at her bobbing beauties. She she looked at the swirling pollen and started to shout. No no no you stay where you are she started chasing the pollen around but there was too much and it was too small to grab. She tried her old butterfly net which was soon caked yellow but didn't even put a dent in the great blowing clouds over the next week. Her efforts got more elaborate and more desperate. She complained to her neighbors but they couldn't help anymore than she could. She paid to put up fences but the clouds blew over and around. She hung sign. That said no pollen allowed the the gentle breezes ignored them like they ignore everything else in the end. Sarah was tired and sweaty and had nothing to show for all all her efforts but a knows full of pollen. A sweat soaked shirt and a lighter purse. She went home miserable. My perfect into lips she sobbed. I wanted them to be bright. I want them to stand tall. But how can I fight against the wind. She put on a pot of tea and sat by her fire thinking she couldn't fight the wind. She saw that now no matter what she did. Her flowers were going to mix with those of her neighbors. The bobbing beauties didn't understand farms or property lines. They didn't obey signs and fences senses. I can cage easy busy and I can't keep the pollen from I try soul hard and cheap flowers in Maya Ard. Say what you saw and so in that far though I see my baby's babies will field go fallow No no are the native. Aimar's on something good in cross pollination can be short but what I'm seeing what indicate okay love to makes and Germany. So if all the fields or as lovely lovely as ma no whole towns plants will be top of the line. I finally understand the FAA or natures is is to spread and she spread to spread and to share. She thought all cozy in her chair as night fell on the little flower farm. Sarah started started to smile. Spread and share. That's how they grow the next day. Sarah gathered all her best tulip bulbs from her collection. The ones for the pretty pinks and the ones for the big sunshiny yellows and deep blushing reds the bulbs for the tiger oranges. This and the cat's eye gold's the bulbs for a rainbows worth of tulips. All her best and brightest. She took all the same bulbs she'd refuse to sell for years and years and years and she gave them away she went farm to farm leaving baskets full of her best. Her neighbors couldn't believe it but they were thankful some offered her money. But Sarah wage them away. I was wrong before she would say to spread and to share and grow. That's nature's way. They looked at her strangely but they took the bulbs and planted them just as soon as they could soon. They were growing tulips as bright as Sarah's ones that seem to have the same playful tilt of stem and turn turn of leaves that made people gasp with delight and when the wind blew across the farms and the pollen came like a cloud of yellow the flowers mingled once once again. But this time. Sarah's tulips didn't grow dimmer no they combined with her neighbors beauties the one she had given them to the plant and became more beautiful than ever to spread and to share. Sarah thought to herself as she looked out. At the fields fields of flowers that would put a rainbow to shame. That is how we grow the end. barks and of joy and one spaniel grabbed her tail so fast she took off like a helicopter end up beefy bulldog named dexter had to pull her back down while everyone celebrated anti padded over to dog king that story would distract us didn't you she asked you told it even though it may be sad anything from my friends he said with a smile it's what you all needed to hear you're a good king good dog dog king she said oh king is only as good as this subject and when you're subject for the finest bunch of dogs ever to lift their legs on god's green earth wellbeing of king is easy they walked through the door and helped rambo wrestle it open outside was the cool promise of a beautiful summer night a reward for the victors the boars that terrible giant of you lie had been defeated and it was time to celebrate cheering wriggling laughing the dog's poured into the alley don king as always leading the way a cane these the king of la these the gang of a docking pain no gain in the king of The golden screw. Once upon a time in a land far away a doctor delivered a healthy baby boy to a kindly old couple. They counted the fingers ten and they counted the toes ten more and the eyes and the nose and all of the other parts and everything was just perfect. Well, except for one thing in the boys. Bellybutton just peeking out was the top of a golden screw doctor said the mother, what's this the doctor who had never seen such a thing in all his life. Only shrugged. The boy seems happy as long as it doesn't bother him. I wouldn't worry about it. The parents kept an eye on the belly button. Screw but it didn't seem to bother their baby. Boy, any so they soon forgot about it. The boy grew up happy and healthy. And it wasn't until he was in his teens that he realized not everyone had a golden screw like him. He asked his parents. But they only shrugged and told him not to worry the boy prodded the screw with his finger. But it was lodged in tight, so he soon grew bored and forgot about it. The boy grew older happy and healthy. But from time to time he'd remember his belly button, and the golden screw and he'd get upset all over again. He tried to ignore it after all it was a very small screw in a very hidden in place. But it nagged at him and nagged at him until as time went by. It was all he could think about that's it. I need to get rid of this group of aura drives me crazy. I he went to his parents. They told him again, not to worry, but he insisted. So his father got out the toolbox and his mother pulled out a screwdriver, and though they tried and tried. They couldn't get the screw to move. Not even one turn not even a bit. The boy on a mission now left home and traveled to a famous hospital in the capital city. He waited with all the people with cough. And broken arms and chicken pox until it was finally his turn when the doctor saw him. She was intrigued by the golden belly button. Screw she had never seen anything like it. She ordered x-rays and body scans and all sorts of tests. But when the results came in she still had no idea what it was four or how to remove it. She told the boy that while it was indeed strange. It wasn't hurting him. And he should just go about his life. But the boy was obsessed. He left the famous hospital and walked for miles until he came to the great library famed for its endless towering shelves of books. When he arrived a librarian asked him what he needed, and he showed the man his golden bellybutton. Screw the librarian and hummed intrigued by the strange screw he called over several other librarian. Means and together they attacked the archives. Looking in every book, they could think of at the end of weeks of searching, they came back to the boy and said they were sorry. But there was nothing in any of the books about a golden bellybutton screw much less. How to remove one since it wasn't hurting him. And it was so very small better that he just go about his life. The boy wouldn't give up so easily though he heard about some mystical shamans in the south and packing his bags. He went to find them. His path took him through a dark forest where he nearly got lost in the trees. It took him through a desert. So vast and dry. He thought he die of thirst finally crawling on his hands and knees he came to the huts of the shamans they marveled at his golden bellybutton, screw poking it and prodding it with their staves. They consulted with spirits and chanted all through the night. But morning found them scratching their heads disappointed. They told the boy that they couldn't divine the golden screws purpose or how they might remove it. And that since it wasn't hurting him. He should just ignore it and live his life. Well, the boy had come to far for that. Of course. So the shamans told him of some wizards in the west packing his bags. He set off on another long journey. He crossed deep ravines on. Warren, rope bridges, he waited through bubbling swamp so thick and dark. They nearly dragged him under he crossed all manner of dark and dangerous places. And finally found a blue tower that stretched towards the sky like a crooked finger he collapsed against the door. And the wizards welcomed him in muttering to each other in excitement about the strange, golden bellybutton, screw they spread their spell books and uttered. Incantations and waved their wants. But in the end with all their magic combined. They couldn't move the screw not an inch not a bit. And since it wasn't hurting him. And it was so very small. They encouraged the boy to just forget all about it. As you know, our boy was on a mission and wouldn't give up especially not after he'd come. So very very far seeing his determination. The wizards whispered to him of a secret place. It was on the windward side of the highest peak of the highest mountain there. He would find a cave. It's opening sharp and wide as a lion's mouth in the cave. If he kept to the left hand passageways and brought a torch against the darkness. He would come to a room at the heart of the mountain there at last he would find an old man with the answers. He was searching for. Off the boy went his path long and dangerous many times, he barely escaped many others. He was forced to Ron until his lungs burned in his side's ached when he came to the mountain, he tucked torch in his pack and climbed up and up. He went until the air was so thin. He could barely breathe and the wind was so strong it merely plucked him off the mountain still he pushed onward climbing to the highest peak of the highest mountain snow coating, his clothes and ice frosting. His face there on the windward side was a cave its mouth as sharp and wide as a lions at last said, the boy, he's slipped inside and lit his torch, keeping always to the left. He followed the winding paths forward and down down down into the heart of the mountain. Finally. After days of walking, his torch, burn to a stub. He came into a dazzling chamber. The floor was thick with the finest carpets. The ceiling was a glowing quartz the walls were lined with shelves, and racks and cases and in the center of the room sitting on a golden throne was a wise old man, he had bright eyes and a long white beard that spill to the floor, and he looked up as the boy entered. So you have a problem. No one else can solve. I do said the boy, let's hear it. Then. Well, it'll be easier just to show you the boy took off his jacket and pulled up the bottom of his shirt and showed the wise old man his golden belly button. Screw. Of coal. You know, what it is? The wise old man shook his head. I don't, but this is the heart of the mountain and the answers to all mysteries, Hugh, and I think I've seen your end. So before. He got up and shuffled over to a shelf digging through strange items and muttering to himself. Finally, when the boy could barely stand to wait. Another moment. The old man came back in his hands was a gleaming golden screwdriver just the right size for the golden belly button. Screw he gave it to the boy the boy placed the golden screwdriver against the golden screw his hands shaking. He gave it a tiny turn just the barest which of his wrist to his amazement. The screw turned easily. Finally, he thought finally finally he could get rid of this. Golden screw he turned to the golden screwdriver again. And the screw grew looser another turn, and it was looser still at last at last another turn. And the screw was hanging by a thread with a deep breath, the boy gave the screw one final turn. And finally freed it fell out of his belly button and hit the floor with a plink the boy leaped up crying out. Yes. Yes. Yes. And then his but fell off. The moral of the story. Everyone has imperfections and at the end of the day. Worrying too much about yours will only lead to trouble. The end. Today's story the golden screw is an adaptation of a classic fable written for you by Daniel Hynes and perform for you buy me, Amanda Weldon. Thanks for listening.

We have work school, homework soccer, practice, etc. But at the end of the day, the things that really matter are the moments, we share with family and milk is so often a part of those moments. Whether it's an glass with cookies after school baking with mom or in grandma's famous. Mac and cheese dairy milk makes those moments better milk is simple nutritious and fresh from the farm and the whole family loves the taste some of my favorite memories. From when I was growing up our sharing glasses of milk with my dad and dipping our favorite cookies into it. I remember that felt like a really special time that I got to have with him. Just the two of us and milk was an important part. Take some time to savor the moments that really matter with milk today. Learn more at milk life dot com. King. These the king of the dog. These the king of the dogs dog the dog dog. He's the king of his mother dog. He's father with kings. Now. King of dogs dog his bite is worse than his bark dogging because he bites like a shark meeting. You know, he's ruling the streets. He won't roll over for treats his mother, his father was a king. So now he's dog. King of the dogs. Today. We find dog king king of the dogs sitting on his throne gazing out at his kingdom. And what a busy kingdom it was dogs of every shape and size were running waddling rolling wiggling and scooting their butts all over the alley the air was full of barks and pants and howls. And yet they weren't playing though not today. No, they were for this one very, very rare occasion hard at work, and for all they're waddling and wiggling and itchy. But scooting. They were doing a good tail wagging job of it. There were a dozen dogs a wild fuzzy mixture of breeds working together to make a low table out of discarded, pallets and cinderblocks. There were labs of all colors passing dented canned goods from mouth to mouth in a slow. Robbery line Mutley puppies wrestled under the patient legs of towering. Great Danes working together to drape crinkly, orange paper above the alley. The Royal guards. A pair of shaggy German shepherds kept watch making sure nobody stole more than a nibble before it was time to eat everyone else. Well, everyone else was bringing food. It was a feast dreamed up by dog king himself, and there was no shortage of well, anything really some daring dogs had stolen. All manner of table scraps. Everything from tins of pie to mashed potatoes dripping with Brown gravy, and is good as that was they done even better with the dumpsters. They'd found soggy cranberry. Roles and brittle lock keys fuzzy spaghetti and melting meatballs. There was a rainbow. Curry a hairy pizza. An Italian sub full of ants and the list went on and on. They were even bringing some things that weren't food. Exactly. Like an old shoe that stink with just the perfect amount of funk, they spent all morning collecting food. And by the end the plywood table they set up was groaning. Under the weight of it all and the dogs were groaning along with it drooling at the site. Eventually the commotion woke pickles who had been napping in an old Dollhouse. He'd found the shaky chihuahuas stepped out into the alley watery eyes blinking against the cool November, son. Good morning pickles said dog king a small smile on his shaggy lips. Tell me what's on the Royal scheduled today. Couldn't reminding could Marning pickles muttered still half asleep today. Let's see where is that schedule. Today. We have is at a Peter. Oh, so charge Brown everyone's stopped and turn to look it is thanks giving. He cried and all the dogs began to cheer and bark. That's right. That's right. Our and you will thinks giving feast said dog king and this year, I have a special surprise for all of you if you'd please gather round the dogs stopped working in crowded in the smaller dogs climbed the bigger ones to see the great Saint Bernard. Broadway had no less than three Boston terriers riding on her shoulders. What's the surprise sugar asked Brodmann? Yeah. Tell us. I can't shake it said Rambo. All right. I won't keep you waiting dog king replied and using his shaggy snout. He tipped over a cardboard box sitting next to the throne underneath was a whole Turkey cooked and steaming and heavy with meaty stuffing. It had taken dog king a week of careful searching, but he'd finally found it in an unattended slow smoker on someone's back porch. It had been tricky to get away with it. But he wasn't the king for nothing. At the site of the Turkey, the dogs all cheered wildly jumps of celebration. Quickly devolve into wrestling matches and trains of butts sniffing and general happy howling. They had their thanksgiving feast every year, and they'd never manage to find a whole Turkey. They usually had to settle for pulling carcasses out of the dumpster the next day not that they didn't love those too. But for the dogs, a whole Turkey was basically a thanksgiving miracle dog king cardboard crown perched precariously on his shaggy head carefully slid the Turkey onto the table and just like that it was nearly time to eat the dogs all gathered close Preston around the table cheek to fuzzy cheek they looked to dog king waiting for him to give the traditional toast to start the meal. This is a special day dog king began and then from above a cat dropped onto their thanksgiving table. Everyone went nuts barks, and yips and hisses and yelps filled. The alley food flew into the air dogs flew into the air. The cat a wiry little calico with half an ear chewed off snatched an old cranberry role and then leapt from the table. It's a kitty cat yelled pickles throwing himself under nearby Anne for safety. Everybody watch out the dogs tried to get the cat, but she was too small to fast, she wound beneath their feet and then leapt up a fire escape the dogs howled after her, but we're unable to follow and had to settle for jumping in barking wildly. It didn't do much good. But they seem to enjoy it finally after the cat disappeared over a nearby roof. The dogs came back to the table to try and start their meal again, there was still plenty of grumbling about the cat though. Most of it from pickles. A cat. Kitty cat in our kingdom. We don't need these tiny fluff boss, stealing our food and meowing. Our alley putting their backs up and strutting around in their teeny tiny cat buddies. Mall pickles. And he said that cat was bigger than you. Shame must based up. Relax pickles said dog king. No as I was saying, this is a special day that that scoundrel. The cat dropped down. Again, this time landing softly just in front of the excited. Chihuahua. Cried pickles. Leaping forward in a sudden. And quite unexpected fit of bravery, the cat and small dog rolled across the table in a yelping. Yelling blur. Other. Other wrecks polled. The Turkey out of the way and dog king managed to lift pickles out of the fray by the SCRUFF of his neck, the cat, snatched an old cranberry cookie in her whiskered mouth and leaped straight up snagging the fire escape Rambo leapt after her his strong jaws snapping shut just inches beneath her curling tale. He fell back to the ground amid a pile of pups and tangled tails, and they all bounded barking to their feet on the table. It was a different story pickles lay on his back in a puddle of gravy. Pause flopped over dramatically. Oh sugar pie said Brodmann. I think you're okay Brodmann. Is that you so doc, so. Week. Duckie? I'm coming home. Nichols said dog king. Don King was terrible glass like knives. Big sharp sunny once but like a demon. Not as an assassin. It was worse than I thought. God Sassan and kingdom. You don't even have a scratch on. You said Rambo who was looking a bit rough himself after his fall. And that's not the said pickles rolling to his feet and shaking the gravy from his for. All right. No dog king said he fixed his crown and took his spot at the table. The other dogs gathered around again tail's wagging thick ropes of rumbling stomach. Drool hanging from their mouths. Once again said dog king. This is a special day. And then the cat dropped down. Again. This time it landed right on top of the thanksgiving Turkey, the dogs had seemed wild before. But that was nothing. Now, they were wild and hungry. They're thanksgiving dinner being interrupted third time was more than they could bear this time. They all jumped so fast. The cat had to run away empty-handed or empty pod. In her case, she escaped up and over the roof. But the dogs didn't give up this time. They float around the building and watched as she jumped from roof to roof. It was a tricky chase. The cat could leap easily across the narrow alleys. But the dogs had to watch her above and still keep their eyes on their paws. More than a few tripped over old recycling or took wrong turns or ran headlong into. Trash bins and sent them clanging before long. It was just a small group of dogs. Still in the chase dog king out in front. The cat. Finally, ran out of luck and ran out of roofs and dropped into the alley. She took a quick turn. And then another and then the alley began to grow narrower and narrower at the end in a corner where three buildings came together. There was a metal barrel and an old abandoned grill. The dogs skidded to a halt as the cat leaped up through the grills bottom and disappeared inside pickles caught up a moment later his little leg shaky tongue poking out of his mouth. Stop this stuff. He puffed and then tumbled onto his side catching his breath dog. King stepped ahead of the others patting slowly up to the grill. Nowhere loved to go food thief. He said, I'm not at the called back the cat from the inside really said dog king. If you knew me, you'd know I'm always fair wouldn't call you a thief. If I didn't know for sure, but we all saw you stealing our food. I I'm sorry. Please. Don't eat me. Don. King laughed. We chase cats. Sure you scratch, but we Nipah tail but we'd never eat you. Said pickles weekly as if I'd be caught dead eating a cat. Then then why do you chase me? You stole from my friends, my family and on thanksgiving. Bye. Sorry, said the cat and from inside the grill. They heard the beginnings of a sniffly cry gently now dog king used his snout and flipped open. The top of the grill inside was a cranberry role and cookie a thin ragged blanket at an even thinner more ragged calico cat. She squeaked as dog. King leaned over the open grill. Don't eat me. Dog king ignored that and peered around the grill. Instead, he noticed the blanket was scratched into a nest and showed signs of a term stay is this where you live asked dog king. It is said the cat. Don King looked around confused would about your friends your family. I I don't have any. I grew up alone in an old house. There were always plenty of my. So it wasn't so bad, but a few weeks ago, some humans moved in and I had to leave. There's not so many mice out here in the alley or at least not so many slow ones. What have you been eating? Well, nothing really. That's why I stole your food. I could smell it from here it, smells, so good. And you had so much. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ruin your thanksgiving. With that the skinny little cat began to cry. Don King looked at the poor little cat and felt a tear well up in his own shaggy. I he turned towards the dogs behind him. The rest had caught up now on the cat's little Allie was packed with curious pups dog king looked at Rambo who nodded likewise for Anne and Broadway in and the rest pickles was crying openly, fat tears streaming from his big watery eyes. You know, said dogging most of us didn't have a family either. The cat looked up sniffling what really? Really? How did you get one? Don King looked out at the alley full of dogs all different, but altogether. Well, we all learned that you really get to families the one you're born with sure, but also the one you choose or in this case the one that uses you the cat looked up blinking. What do you mean? Don king. Art, sobbed pickles. Sweet cat. I told you all along she needed help. Par par skinny thing and dinner, Don King wagged, his tail. Oh about it. Do you want to go meet with us? Oh, what's your name? Anyway. I I never had one. That won't do can have friends and family without a name. Sorry. But that's a dog law. He looked around at the stolen food in the grill. How about cranberry? I love it. The cat said cranberry. It feels it feels good. It's. Said pickles it fits you like fleas cranberry. Walk with me. I need to apologize for beating you up earlier and that fight I don't know my own strength, sometimes high come from a long line of fighters. My great aunt Norman was so strong. Cranberry hop down next to pickles and the dogs all cheered. Sure. Blasters jets talons. It was a wild shrieking blur together. Jill and Harper hit the water and sunk into the depths everything suddenly muted and slow everything. But the shark. No, Jill cried hirsute letting her see through the water as her mom was approaching by the gaping maw, she kicked free of heartbe and rocketed towards her. But she was so far away. So very very far the shark loomed. Huge its mouth and endless void. I'm not gonna make it Jill realized as the jobs started to close. I'm not gonna make it. No. She cried the shark lurched violently to the side missing her mom by inches. Jill watched amazed as the creature tumbled through the water in the wrong direction. What the hey firefly came a voice it was crimson. Cannonball. So you needed a hand off their all Jill watched as riptide and canon ball, flashed by working together to push the shark up and out of the water, she smiled heart. Leaping little healthier big guy. Right. Coming Jill flew over in joined them hauling the shark up and out of the water riptide couldn't fly, but he rode into the air on a slender pillar of water together. The three of them launched the shark into the air it soared in a wildly thrashing and lashing mass of tentacles and chomping teeth. But only for a moment, then it hit the water with a thunderclap belly-flopping and splattering against the waves. Well, that's one problem down said canon ball, the three of them hung in the air together. Riptide balancing on his column of water. I gotta get my mom out of their Jill said, that's your mom. Long story where not far from shore said riptide, please leave your mother's safety to me. What really Jill asked majority being handled. Jill glanced and saw her mom was being lifted by a family of grey dolphins the laughing splashing creatures began to swim her gently to shore. Jill had almost forgotten that riptide could command some see creatures. It wasn't useful. All that often. But chill could kiss those dolphins right about now? Guys. Thank you. She said, no sweat said. Cannonball. What's the plan? Jill told them everything. They were a little alarmed that firefly turned out to be a teenage girl. But they were surprisingly quick to get over it. It turns out superheroes are used to putting up with some weirdness among their coworkers. She had planned on them to help cover her escape, but that little glowing flower had smashed their plan to pieces. It was time for a new plan something less clever and more punch based we gotta stop that bomb. But they're all over me. Jill said you guys got to keep harpies friends off my back. I'll take the tin man said canon ball and let me quench the fiery fellow added riptide. All right. Jill said, I'll get the bomb. She looked back and forth between the two heroes. She hadn't thought much of them when she lived in Giga city, but she would be forever thankful that they had her back. All right, guys. Jill said, let's go save the day riptide smiled and flipped into a dive crimson cannonball whooped in rocketed away. Jill spotted harping on the horizon, she was making a break for it flanked by her flying bricks. Jill spec. Said they're getting close to the city, I'm on its specs. She said kicking on the jets and blasting into a brilliant corkscrew. She closed on Hoppy in a flash. But Giga city loomed huge on the horizon, the island must have moved closer while Jill was unconscious. No time to lose Jill thought as she closed in on harby the blaster hadn't worked before. So she abandoned it. Instead, she dropped her shoulder and used her body like a missile slamming full speed into the villains back the brick bird woman, spun like a cat and they collided once more this time Jill blocked, the talents and slammed an elbow into harpies solar plexus watching the mutant wins watch your head. She glanced up and saw the crimson cannonball blast into the brick night shattering his Lance and knocking him from the saddle the Dragonfly managed to catch his writer before he hit the sea. But cannonball was after them again, slamming the armor from. His foes body, and let's turn down the heat, Jill spun and saw riptide rising from the sea his legs lost in a curving. Dragon of water the burning red brick tried to get away. But the waters came too fast, like miniature dragons, they rose from the sea lashing out at the fiery woman and dousing her flames. Why cried harby I thought you were tough Jill said coming to hover in front of her afraid of a fair fight. She snarled and her talents lashed out screaming over the medal of the armor. They broke apart and clashed again like an intricate dance they wove around each other in the air. It was beautiful and graceful. But Jill knew it could easily prove fatal as well. I can't let you drop that bomb. Jill said while they grappled y'all me harpies snarled back last chance Harvey in response harpies slapped her enormous wings and drove herself at Jill talons outstretched to kill time seem to slow Jill could see the sunlight gleaming on each of harpies talons making them glow. Red as blood they reached out for her curled with deadly purpose. And Jill Jill remembered grandpa, Jack Jili bean, he said mad doesn't equal strong mad is the wind. How? Ruling all night to no effect you want to win a fight. You be the lightning. Cool. Calm and collected washing for that perfect time and place to strike. That's the one to watch out for in a scrap. That's the one who wins. So let those bad winds howl baby girl, you just keep it. Cool. Cool thought Jill cool and calm and collected and dangerous that to the talent slashed, and Jill waited waited and finally dodged at the last moment leading harpies rage carry her by a wild. Lurch? Head clear, Jill lashed out with a roundhouse kick that cracked into harpies wing, the brick screened a strangling bird like scream and flapped away tried to flap away, Jill rocketed forward and sangha fist into harpies gut. Doubling her over as she pitched forward, Jill rocketed up and str-. Doc her heavily armored knee into harpies jaw. There was a crunch that Jill felt more than she heard. Harpies squawked as she went down jail watched in horror as the bomb slipped from her talents and tumble towards the bay. The red glow seemed to get brighter as it fell Jill flipped into a dive flaring, her jets bombs falling spec. Said I'm aware. Jill said check my camera. Oh, man specs replied, the bomb fell in front of her plummeting towards the bay Jill reached out just a little more and snagged it by the iron handle she pulled out of her dive, just above the water and staggered back into the air, even with the firefly suit. It was heavy harp. Drifted past her wings, causing her to fall in lazy circles harpies down in the bay riptide said over the comms, I'll round her up, and I have the bomb. Jill said, what do I do with it? Space right said cannonball, firefly used to throw things into space. No good. Jill replied, heartbe punch through my armor. I'm not space for the at the moment. The ocean said specs the ocean is as full of life as the land riptide replied, what about an island? Jill said it would have to be uninhabited not exactly Jill replied, kicking on her jets. The com- chatter faded into the background as she broke the sound barrier and kept on going at that speed. It wasn't long before the scarlet kings island appeared on the horizon. Jill you shore about this specs asked. It's not my bomb specs she replied, I'm just bringing it home. Jill slow to a hover above the island giving one last look to its volcanic spires and twisting, brick forests. It was almost beautiful. Almost goodbye. Scarlet king, Jill said and the bomb tumbled out of her grip. Chapter thirteen take flight. The bomb thudded into the canopy of the red forest crashing through branches and disappearing into the brush below for a moment. Jill thought it hadn't detonated was it. Maybe a bluff all along. No the forest suddenly swelled with red light it began at a single point. And then spread the explosion came a moment later, bringing the sound and the fury it rushed past Jill and a howling surge and she tumbled backwards in the air. The red light became blinding. The howling became a barbarians endless. Roar specs. What's happening? I think it was supposed to detonate in the air. Right. Bit hit the ground in one piece. The energy is too concentrated. A tentacle whipped suddenly impossibly into the air. It had grown from the island blended with the creeping Ivy and reformed into a brick monstrosity. I think he may be right. Jill said as the tentacle pushed past her and continued to grow like, Jack and the beanstalk Jill thought of maybe you should get out of. There a dozen more tentacles surged into the air each sprouting hundreds of feet and continuing to grow the sky turn dark clouds colored red and angry. Jill get out of there. Right said, Jill wrenching, her stare away from the island below she kicked on the jets and was immediately swatted out of the air by tentacle as thick as a subway tunnel. It sent her spinning down towards the island with a lurch. She pulled out of the fall just above the broiling red mass up close, Jill could see it was growing still bubbling and surging and bulging. It wasn't many creatures. Now, it was all one creature the island the flower. It was one piece and it was growing dangerously unstable gotta go she said to herself flashing back into the air. She had only been low for a moment. But everything had changed of the air was thick with red fog. Bright spines of lightning flashed all around illuminating. The gloom in bursts tentacles. Surged back and forth like half. Hidden titans. Searching for prey Jill the signal is scrambled still trying to get the video feed going. Oh, oh, wow. Jill you have to get out of there. Don't worry Jill said, I didn't come this far to lose to an overgrown octopus, the firefly armor, flair to brilliant life, a beacon in the fog attend tickle crash towards her and she burst away swerving among the nightmare. Another tentacle swept down, and she burned it in half with a. Full-strength blast of power up and up towards clearer air, she soared weaving through the maze of lashing death. The fog began to thin. The tentacles faded away. Car wreck a serpent's tongue of red lightning crashed into her and the firefly suit went dead. She reached up hands grasping at thin air. And then she started to fall dead weight. She crashed back into the red clouds. The dark storm the tentacles knocked her back and forth as she fell down and down stunned and reeling, the island swelled and bulged around her too much of the mutating spore all at once. It was unstable it couldn't hold. It was going to blow. No, Jill said swimming back to attention. No, she roared with a tremendous explosion the island tore itself apart firefly, the suit rebooted and burned burned hot and white and brighter than ever. Jill rose, a shooting star and reverse regaining the heavens. She rose like a rocket seeking the stars. She was a tight ball of focus a singing body of grace. She danced through the tentacles like a ghost the lightning could not touch her the missed retreated before her burn and firefly in all her glory. Burst free above the trembling. Red clouds a glowing beacon of pure light a shining force driving back the gloom. And they're alone. Above the carnage. Jill pause to catch her breath. The day was saved, and what's more Jill thought to herself bewildered, I saved it. She floated there in the sky for a long time long after the explosion had settled and pieces had melted into the sea long after she'd heard from specs and mom long after the thank you. Call from the president Xi. She floated there high above the world. She watched the sunset and thought of her dad and grandpa, Jack, she felt serene just her and the son to lights burning bright against the darkness. Epilogue one year later. Jill woke up to the smell of coffee and eggs. She's still thought coffee was too bitter. But her mom's eggs were the best in Giga city led by her nose. She rolled out of bed and padded to the kitchen. Her mother was in her robe eating her eggs Cup of coffee at hand. They eat together. Most mornings these days sitting by the window. The window is beautiful stretching floor to ceiling like the prow of a ship. And it shows all of the city's sprawling out beneath them they moved to the lighthouse earlier in the year. It was closer to moms work and neither of them had wanted to stay at the farm. It turned out the lighthouse had an entire level set up like an apartment, it's more modern than mom likes. But even she had to admit, you can't beat the view gills phone chirped. It was Madison sending her more costume designs. She seemed to think the classic colors were a little out of date. Jill laughed and played along. Happy to have turned an enemy into a friend school starts next week. Mom said smiling too. I really have to I save the world. Remember, Jill slouched into her chair and began shoveling eggs into her mouth. Am I going to be hearing about that forever? You save the world. And now you'll get to be a part of it. Jill grumbled into her eggs. But her heart wasn't in it. She was going to a new school specifically for the scientifically gifted and specs would be in her class truth be told she was actually excited specs his father had been reluctant at first until they've found that grandpa Jack had left specs the farm in his will since then. Well, Mr. specs had been a lot kinder to his son. Big meeting today. Mom said are you nervous a little, but it's just the core team today? Just the ones I already know. I figure that I'll make it a little easier. I'm sure you'll do great. I'll do my best. Your best is always great mom said giving her a kiss on the forehead, your father would be proud your grandpa to. Thanks, mom. Upstairs on the firefly command floor awaited a group of the best heroes gig city had to offer they're all here looking to jail for leadership, and it won't make it any easier to keep them waiting. She ate fast and dressed in her flight suit with a hug from her mom and a final deep breath. She called the elevator and stepped inside her heart is pounding. Don't be ridiculous. She tells herself you face down scarlet king, but public speaking makes you nervous the elevator dinged in slid open specs was there waiting in the hall. Hey, Jill you ready as I'll ever be. Let's go partner they pushed into the lighthouse. And there were cheers as they entered the room. There were only a handful of heroes waiting cannonball riptide grim church tower twins, some others. Jill let them cheer for a moment. And then she raised a hand for silence. Thank you all for coming. She said welcome to the first meeting of the Giga city. Guardians more cheers rang out. Jill found herself smiling buoy by their energy. She felt warm. She felt eager and open and excited for whatever would come next excited and happy that too. The end. Today's story. She was willing to eat most anything but being so small the bigger your animals would bully her around she'd no sooner starting nibbling at a sweet ripe berry then she'd be chased off and today was no different and she had just settled into a nice patch of dark juicy clusters when there came a terrible trumpeting. Oh the little hair bellowed ms elephant. She was the biggest bully of them all and her appetite was endless. What what do you think your doing eating my favorite berries. I just wanted a few. The little hair cried side sorry but i can spare them. Ms elephants replied and then she cleared the whole bush with a great wiggle snuff half of her mighty trunk. It was so strong it knocked the poor little hair into the dirt and got dust all in her floppy ears run along now you fuzzy. You runt these berries for the big girls muttering and hungry. The little hair hopped away from the berries. He's maybe i'll have better luck by the river. She said the current was sluggish and brown but lots of bright tasty flowers grew on the banks. The little rabbit found a delicious looking patch and started to eat no sooner had she nibbled her first shoot. Though than a great toothy head bursts out of the water it roared sweet jumping whiskers the little rabbit exclaimed the toothy head was followed followed by a great grey waddling body. It was mr hippo and he looked hungry enough to stomp mobile on a little hair he grumbled. These are my tasty greens. Strictly for big boys like me. He bulled in close his cavernous governess mouth swallowing the whole flower patch in one bite. It was so aggressive at knocked into the little hair and tumbled her into the mud of the river bank. Hey come on was that really necessary. Run along the little squirt little hoppers like you don't belong near the water shivering and miserable the little rabbit hopped back home to her borough it was a cozy little home in the tall swaying grass us but that only meant her rumbling stomach echoed all around her the sound of it seemed to fill her floppy ears and drive her mad. That's it. She said to herself when she couldn't take it anymore. I may not be big but i'm clever and i'm done being pushed around. She stayed up all through the night planning and slept well past sunrise but no sooner had she blinked open. Her pretty little is than she was off hopping madly across the sun baked african morning. Hey miss elephant. She shouted after finally tracking down the big and burly a beast yeah down here. Ms elephants stripped another bush of its buries her trunk curl to drop them into her mouth itself bigger than the little hairs entire borough. Oh it's the fuzzy little runt. She said rolling her wide hazel is oh. I thought i told you the berries off a big girls. Only you did then. Why are you here. Get lost already here because i'm sick of you pushing me around the little hair said standing kinda sorta tall on her back legs eggs. Maybe small but i'm just as strong as you are justice strong as me. Oh aw ms elephant burst into trumpeting laughter. Oh do you need some help. Maybe did you hit your little head. My head's just fine. Thank you and i can prove i'm just as strong. She hopped back a bit and lifted a heavy coil of vine. You you take one end of this vine and i'll take the other through the woods so we have some space. When you feel me start pulling you pull back you want to play tug of war with me. She erupted into another fit of of brassy trumpeting laughter. Oh you can't be serious. I am serious. The little hair said and she said it seriously if you win. I'll never bother you again but if i can prove i'm just as a strong then i get to eat the berries to no more keeping me out all right fluff ball ms elephants said and she picked picked up the vine in her trunk run along and get pulling. I can't wait around all day. Just a minute. The little hair said then picking up the other end of the vine. She hopped off towards the river. Hey mr hippo. She shouted at the muddy waters. Get your the big back tiny tales cell phone out here right now. A toothy head crashed up from the water spraying mud and pebbles blah. Ah he roared his big body slammed down onto the riverbank so close that the little hair felt the muskie breeze. She didn't flinch though oh she knew she had to seem fearless. Whore you calling big back tiny tail. Mr hippo grumbled. I will have you know ullmark. Tail is considered quite lovely. Among hip bows besides your rear end looks like a cotton ball. So who are you to talk. I'm i'm sick of you pushing me around on the riverbank. She said and she threw down the vine. She was carrying. You say these river flowers are only for big boys well. I may look small but i'm just as strong as you. I challenge you to a game of tug of war. Mr hippo started laughing. It sounded like he was gargling boulders. The little hair shouted to be heard over the terrible racket. I challenge you to a tug of war if you win. I'll never bother you again but if i can prove i'm strong you have to share the riverbank proper proper papa papa papa. You prove your strong. He'll own last second against a big boy. I'm the biggest boy there is aw then take the bet fine are due. Mr hippo said and he grabbed the end of the vine. Wait just just a second for me to get to the other end when i pull then it's time to start. Mr hippo replied with the vine in his toothy mouth brought it r._e._o. R._e._o. The little hair ran back into the brush hopping along the vine she had laid after a minute. She found the not she had tied in the middle. One one end snaked back to the river the other deeper into the wilds one and held by mr hippo the other in the trunk of ms elephant of course they thought it was the little hair they were pulling against and the brush was so thick there was no chance they'd see otherwise with a sly smile will the little hair tugged on the vine and then took a step back at the same instant. The two big beefs began to poll the vines snapped napped taught and helmed with tension. Both mr hippo and ms elephant nearly fainted in surprise when the little hair put up such a fight but they wouldn't let themselves themselves lose to a little thing like her get ready. Get said we're gonna have a big tug of war. Eh tough you think you'll win as bad you don't wanna tag silence and yet eighty small. I'm maybe fluffy hippos her big elements qatar snuffy rabbits or smart green now on the shell us. You're the jungle draw some little aw yay yet it with a whip crack twang. The vine nine popped apart right in the middle ms elephant and mr hippo both stumbled back and fell onto their giant rear ends. The little hair ran to one in and then the other tail bobbing and gave them her biggest smile. See the rope broke before you could move me. I am just as strong long just as mighty and just as hungry as you so now. Will you let me eat in peace. In the end. Mr stor hippo and ms elephants apologized to the little hair and admitted she was very strong indeed and from that day forward they always treated needed her as an equal and saved her one of the best spots to eat this was surprising to all the other little critters in the wilds but when they asked her how she had earned earned a spot among the giants she would just give a sly smile. She knew she was a giant to a giant brain. There was a hungry old old lion. She considered herself queen of the woods and all that she saw was hers to eat munch chew and just generally league devour and also once upon a time deep in that same forest. There was a hungry old bear he thought he he was the king of the woods and all that he saw was his to eat crunch slurp and just generally gobble. Maybe you can see were this is going. They both ruled their little pieces of forest eating what they pleased and doing what they liked. Until one day they crossed paths in a clearing in the woods. It wasn't any place special not normally at least that day though some humans had passed through for a picnic they packed in all sorts of meats and sweets and delicious snacks but when they left they forgot their wicker picnic basket it was smallish with a long looping handle but the lion and the bear both smelled it from miles away and hurried hurried right over the lion burst through the brush regal head hi sniffing at the air <hes> up picnic nick basket. She heard what a lovely surprise. Humans always leave. The best meets behind. Oh i think i smell salami. She prowled into the clearing from the other side. The a great shaggy bear barreled through his own brush turning his head from side to side whoa smell human food he he rumbled smell apples and chickpeas and crunchies for free salami and cheeses and napkins for me. He lumbered into the clearing at exactly the same time. As the lion the two big hungry lords of the forest froze <music>. I each other usually they'd scare competition off with a growl but they were equally sized both angry and suspicious. They stared at each other across the empty ground. Oh sorry bare but this picnic basket is spoken in for the lion said why don't you run along and go find some nuts and berries and trash. You know their food. The bear grumbled and humped whole bear. Food is whatever food abair wants to eat. He he said proudly are and she was supposed to be chasing down on antelope or something. Leave the picnic baskets to the experts and wrought along back to your litterbox. Now the lion was grumbling and growling litterbox. I'm the queen of this replace cooing on the carrying the forest they continued to bicker in the trees above a a large raven landed lightly on a limb she too had smelled the human food and had come to do a little scavenging. She watched for while just waiting. The bigger animals would have to have their fill before she could chance swooping down and she was getting impatient pay. She squawked at them from safely high above of course why don't you guys just share. Let lie and take the need and bear you take the rest. Maybe leave some big crumbs for me your friend the raven that way we all win the great beasts looked up at her stunned and someone would interrupt. Hey who even asked you the bare grumbled. Don't you have some shiny junk to collect. This is a private discussion. The lion agreed take your beak and go stick it. In someone else's business yes well all right then the ravens said and flap to another tree wall. That's a start grumbled the bear now you fly away home to little kitty little kitty. The lion purred dangerously. You have you know a refined defined feline a gold and hunting queen and fury no way <hes> my supper. You'll see royalty at me. You don't wanna see me. No no no. I a complex a pecs perot editor. This bears a munching brew grew and you take away ma. I inner a sniff you out with my snooze. Ooh i'll stay up you out with my snooze. O i clean you know the biggest and strongest the fastest longest had i arrive so back. A lawn belongs to me <music>. I said i've acid on taking this basket and a lively. Are you ready to let me enjoy my dinner. In peace bear not today lion that was it they fluid each other across the clearing slamming together in a wild spray of for and claws and teeth. The lion pounced enrolled the bear onto his broad back. The bear swung a heavy pa and send the lion tumbling away into the dirt. They clashed again and came away battered and bruised. They each took a few steps back. Have you have you had enough. The lion panted. She was caked with dirt and she was missing a patch for no way huffed. The bear between heaving breaths rests who you better just surrender never said the lion. That food is mine. Oh replied the bear. He all never have that food. I'll take it and eat every last by. I'll even eat the basket. You'll you just did the basket go. Oh where did it go. Sorry about that got called down the raven from the tree. She was far up in the skinniest branches. What where's my basket you. Oh you federally fool snarled the lion. No whereas my basket bird brain roared the bear. Don't worry it's safe with me your friend. The raven said the reason way up in the tree. The big beasts could just make out the wicker handle. The raven reached out and padded it. You were so busy fighting. I thought i'd just handle it for you now. It's my basket and you have nothing left to fight about. You better bring that back down here right now. The lion said or will eat you to threatened the bear. Oh said the raven. Do you have some wings. I'm not seeing sorry friends but i offered to share it all with you. Maybe next time he'll actually listen. The lion roared and leaped at the tree sinking in her claws. She pulled herself up a few feet and then slid back to the ground. The bear got further shimmying up with his mighty pause but the raven was in a skinny tree and soon the bear to fell back to the ground. Thanks for trying and thanks for the lovely meal. The raven said see you later. She turned and flapped away leaving the rest of the basket way up in the tree. The lion and bear looked at each other for a long time and then side split it next time said the lion <hes> guess so said the bear and soon they both went their separate ways finding new things to eat and dreaming deeply of the salami they'd lost the end. Once upon a time in ancient Greece four horses with giant feathery wings stood at the ready. They looked like the strongest most beautiful horses that ever galloped and their mighty wings sprouted from their proud backs like those of some giant eagle, these were the cousins of the mighty Pegasus, and they were just as wondrous as their more famous family member, the only difference, where Pegasus was the shining silver of moonlit snow, these four were gold, not the solid gold of rings and crowns. But the blazing tawny gold of summer. Sunrise, good morning. My mighty steeds came a booming voice ready as always, I see never been a better horse-borne than these, it was Helius the horse's owner Helius was one of the gods. Of ancient Greece. And a child of the titans. He was full of old magic and he had one of the most important jobs of all each morning. He would hook his chariot to the sun and pull it across the sky of Greece bringing light to all the eager plants and animals and people of the land. It was a difficult and dangerous job. But Helius was up to it. Come now. Fading ready? The reins he called Faten was his son. He'd only recently started letting fate and help and the boy was so proud. He seemed to glow and well maybe he did glow at least a little after all Helius was a God, so Fatan was considered a Demi God and being Helius is son. He carried some of that power himself. Some is not all though, as Fatan would learn to his dismay, make sure the straps are. Boy, Helius said they were standing on the edge of a cloud near Mount Olympus high above the world where the rest of the gods dwelled. Yes, stat. I got it said, Fatan cinching down the red leather straps against the golden bodies of the flying horses already to go good works on Helius said as he stepped into his golden chariot and picked up the reins. Now step back. I'll see you tonight. Faten beamed at his father and stepped back on word to greet the day. The God called out to the horses. They beat their mighty wings once twice and then leaped into the air, the golden chariot, and he'll ios must have weighed hundreds of pounds, but the horses pulled them effortlessly into the sky as Fatan watched the chariot, flew over the horizon dip down to grab the sun and then blazed. Back up into the air. The son found its place in the sky and started shining spreading molten gold, light onto the land one day fate, and said to himself as the sun warmed his skin. One day, that'll be me. He said, the same thing later that day to his, friends, fellow demigods armonia and Arcus. They didn't seem to agree. Don't be silly said the beautiful hormone your father is a God, but you're just a Demi God, there's no way you can drive your father's chariot. What said Fatan surprised? Of course I can. I've been helping get ready. And I know all the steps friend said, Arcus clapping Fatan on the shoulder. Getting ready is one thing. But driving the sun chariot is another forget about it. Come hunting with means dead Faten. Shrugged off his hand. You always want to go hunting every time anyone has a problem hunting is your answer Arcus. Blushed a little. I like hunting. Don't get mad at me just because you can't drive the sun chariot. Come on, guys, harmonious said raising her hands between them. We don't have to fight. There's an easier way to solve this. They both turned to her. She smiled impishly. Well, I think if eaten wants to prove he can drive the chariot then he should drive. The chariot Arcus rolled his eyes Helius would never let him drive. He doesn't even let Zeus drive. And he's the thunder. God. Yeah. Said Fatan besides I've asked before and he told me, I'm too young more or like to mortal said, harmonious admit it, your human side is way too chicken to do. Do it. She started to walk like chicken, and Arcus laughed. I am not at Shikin said Fatan clenching his fists. Why could definitely drive the sun cheery if I wanted to sure, you could harmonious said with a little smile, we definitely believe you. She winked obviously at Arcus and they both cracked up again. Fine said Faden a little too loudly fine. You just watch the sunrise tomorrow morning, watch and see how well I drive his friends laughed again. And then the conversation moved on harmonium and Arcus for God about their teasing right away, but not Fatan he dwelled on it for the rest of the day, even during dinner. He was quiet and distant playing with his food more than eating it. His thoughts were consumed with thoughts of driving the sun chariot, he imagined himself, tall and broad. But as his father and muscled like a statue standing in the chariot he dreamed of taking up the heavy leather reins, smooth and warm and shouting, the flying horses into action, he fantasized about scooping up the sun and bringing light to people all over the world by the time he went to bed that night, he knew he had to try he knew he'd get in trouble. And he knew that maybe his friends weren't, so friendly after all if they were going to tease him like that, but it didn't matter. He wanted to drive, the sun chariot and nothing was going to stop him. The next morning. Faten awoke early dressed in the dark and snuck out to the chariot Helius was still asleep and the world was quiet moving silent as a ghost Fatan got the chariot and the flying horses ready when he was finished. It was near dawn, he knew his father would be up any moment. Don't do it. He thought to himself if I stop now Dodd, we'll just think I got up early to help. I won't be in trouble. He'd probably be happy if I stop now but he looked at the chariot gleaming, sunrise, golden. He looked at the horses. Beautiful tawny. Wings, stretched, wide and anticipation of their flight. No, he couldn't stop not now that idea or no, he had to drive the chariot he had to prove it to his friends, but more he wanted to prove it to himself. Trembling Fatan stepped into the chariot and picked up the reins. The horse's looked at him a little strangely, but still, they stretch their wings and didn't fly. Why wouldn't they fly Faten thought about what his father did? And remembered. Oh, onward to make the day. He said his voice shaky. The horses looked at him again. One winning and stomped impatiently, okay. Then fate and said to himself. One more time with feeling now onward to greet the day, he bellowed it in his best impression of his father, and it was good enough for the horses. They beat their mighty wings once twice and then leaped into the air. Fating screened and excitement as they began to fly through the air, he started punching the air in celebration, but he nearly lost the reins and calm down a little whoa, okay? Now to get the son, this was the part, he didn't really understand. But his father had told him once that the horses new the way fate, and hoped that it was true because he certainly didn't know thankfully, they banked and swooped, and they're on the edge of Mount Olympus Fatan saw the son of ancient Greece. It was beautiful, but too bright to look upon for long, K panicked, for a moment about how he would carry it, but it was simpler than that, as they flew by the sun. It attached itself to the back of the chariot blazing fourth and sending trickles of warm sweat down Phaetons back that was it. He had the sun now it was time to make it rise. He flicked the reins and at once the horses beat their wings and made for the heavens with a rush and roar Faten found himself high above the world, the horses new the way, and they let him well soon he held the reins and stared in wonder the world was spread below him. The craggy outlines of Greece's shores marbled Brown and green against the aquamarine of the seas. It was the most beautiful thing. He had ever seen and it made him whoop with joy the horses beat their wings and their speed picked up the wind, rushed by Phaetons head pushing back his hair and tugging at his clothes. He clung tightly to the reins, slipping in the chariot the heat of the sun starting to sting, his back. Whoa. Slow down. He cried, but the horses either couldn't hear or didn't care. They went faster still and fate. And watched in horror as they tore across the sky, the sunlight pouring over Greece, and then moving too quickly giving them a few minutes of daylight before casting them back into night. Too fast too fast. We need to make sure they have sun all day seeing the horses were still ignoring him. He pulled on the reins. They ignored that to what could he do? He, I'd the golden rear of the horse lashed closest to the chariot when he got the horses ready in the morning, they always listen to a little swat on the rump if he could just get close enough. He reached out letting go of the reins with one hand stretching his fingertips, just brushed the horse's hair. He leaned out of the chariot, the wind roared past his ears. He put his belly on the chariots edge, and leaned further out his feet, leaving the floor just a little more. He raised his arm to slack, the horse's, rump and get its attention. But the horses turned in the air at the same moment, Satan lost all balance his stomach dropped screaming. He saw the chariots suddenly above him as he plummeted towards the ground. He flailed wildly. And in a bit of luck his hand found the loose reins as he fell past them. He grabbed on and clung tightly hanging below the chariot now his unexpected weight pulled the lead horse hard to the side and it collided with the horse next to it their wings tangled, and they started falling to the horses, and chariot falling with them Fatan, screened as he saw they were plummeting towards a giant forest as they got closer. The green leaves started to smoke and crisp under the heat of the sun now much closer than it was ever supposed to be the horses flapped wildly and they pulled up just above the treetops. Well. Where the treetops used to be the sun, burned them away, as they got close and where that forest used to be now, there was nothing but a smoking desert. Oh, not good. He squeaked as the horses fought against the tangled reins with a burst of desperate strength, Faten manage to climb the leather hand over hand and pull himself back into the chariot just in time to see the sun boil away a large section of the Nile river. Definitely not good. He yanked the reigns. Trying to get the horses back in order. But he only tangled them more all four were stuck now to couldn't flap. Their giant wings at all the chariot rose, slowly in the air hovered for a moment on the desperate, flaps of the two remaining horses. But they couldn't do it alone. The chariot tipped and then began to fall again. No, no, no fair. Dayton's words turned into a scream as he spun wildly towards the ground flying horses tangled chariot, plummeting sun, blazing all around in an endless lurching blur his stomach flipped and flopped and his face went milk white, and it was all he could do not to be sick. My dad is going to be soon. Then sudden as sneezing everything froze. Fatan blinked, peering out from the rim of the chariot had he managed to land safely. Unfortunately he had not. No. He was still hovering in air, he hadn't landed he'd been caught in more ways than one holding the chariot aloft in mid air, was his father, looking angrier than he'd ever been worse next to him with Zeus leader of all the Greek gods. And as angry as Helius looked Zeus was even angrier thunder and lightning danced in his poems. And his is smoke, like Kohl's have an ice ride Helius asked own fate, and replied, I should blush you out of the sky, you'll burn a forest into desert. Boiled away part of the Nile. I. Zeus sputtered to mad to finish Helius, laid a hand on Zeus is shoulder. He's still my son. How about a punishment that doesn't involve any lightning strikes, just this once? Fine. Grumbled zeus. But if I ever see him anywhere near the sun chariot, again, you won't squeak Fatan, I better not roared Zeus. And then with a peel of thunder, he was gone and true to his word Helius punished Faten though he didn't use any lightning. The boy was banned from returning to Mount Olympus and lived the rest of his days. Among the human world it was a little hard to get used to it. I but eventually. Well, he found a job as a chariot driver, a regular chariot driver. He had a few more crashes but a whole lot of fun. And most importantly, he didn't burn up anymore forests or boil any rivers, not even one, not even once though he was known to hit an ancient mailbox or two.
