"In his thoughts on the world of NFTs and crypto. Peter saputo, welcome to mint, long time coming. How are you doing? Thanks for being on. Yeah, I'm doing great. Thank you for having me. I'm excited to have you. I'm a collector of yours. I really enjoy music and I remember towards the end of season 6. We were just kicking it. I think at one of the LA creator houses and crypto, I forgot which one we should run an episode out of this project coming up and you sold me on this idea and really got to tap into the way you think. And I was like, wow, this kid really gets it. This kid. Not a kid. And I was like, all right, this is cool. We should run it. So I'm excited to have you on Peter. Peter, the 30 seconds. Who are you then? Give us a quick intro. Yo, Peter. Make a music produce out of my studio at home in Los Angeles and just been making music for as long as I can remember. And recently got into web three over the last year. is just living life, trying to make music and have fun. Let's go. Live in life. Live in life and web three, how did you get into web three? What is that story? I did. So I got into crypto. They started investing in crypto kind of beginning of quarantine. And kind of didn't experiment with any NFTs or anything, did not have the energy to pay attention to any of that stuff. I was going on. And I just randomly had a friend come over, kind of once we could socialize again. And he was, he was actually hyping me up on Daniel Allen's overstimulated project. And he's like, dude, I don't know if you've heard of music NFTs or dows or anything, but like you should really like, you know, get into this stuff like this, this could be a way that you could kind of fund your life essentially. And your music and whatever, and I was very skeptical to be completely honest. That was like, this is too good to be true and whatnot, but literally here we are. We made it through. So it's kind of wild. But yeah, I honestly hit up like a manager and asked them

"Stuff, right? Like I can't explain the rest of it to them. You know, and so until we're at a place where we can explain what they're even doing to our normie Friends, I just don't know that we're ready yet. All right, I'll counter it. I think music NFTs fall on a very similar category. Everybody understood art, but many people didn't understand the concept of collecting music. And it took a village of a few thousand collectors to prove other people wrong. And now we're seeing music NFTs as a collectible quote unquote asset class, doing really, really well. And artist, even though it's like 1.25 eth, but they're doing that in raising it on a consistent basis. You have like you have artists like Daniel Allen a real Cragen racking in a 110 eth in a matter of like a few days, you know, for their criteria drop and people starting to understand the value of collectible music, you know? And that took a village. It took a few companies. It took funds betting on entrepreneurs to create the platforms in the primitives to enable that energy. And then it took a bunch of ship posters to tweet music NFTs for it to appear on everybody's timeline to make it seem like something is going on here. That's worth paying attention to. So I don't see why we can't do that with content, why we can't do that with podcasts. I think we can. I think we can, but I think that that's what it's going to take. You know, it's going to take what you just said. It's going to take a village. It's going to take a few funds coming in and investing in podcasts. It's going to take all of those things. And none of that has happened yet. Shows you how early we are. Zoom out. It's still early. So what other things are on top of your mind that you think about as a creator in the web three landscape? Oh man.

"I know a lot of musicians since I was a kid and I love music right and I was on Spotify all the time. I think when you look at the difference of the culture of the sounds, like the art itself and the content itself, it's different. It's a counterculture within its counterculture already because it's like the under August of the new system. It's like, it's the new business model. It's the next generation of artists, the independents. But the sounds, the content that's coming out is also new, different. Cooler, the counterculture, right? Listen to Daniel Allen with Rio, gorgeous, right, listening to what real just dropped the frameworks and what Daniel did with glass house. Listen to Natasha out there. Listen to bloody white. The sounds they're making. Oh, this is that person over here. It's completely new sounds. It's completely new genres like the content because it's like it's such a new generation and the creative freedom. It's because of the way it works, they don't have to enter the existing system and be influenced by whatever agency. It's the full creative control. It's the full control of your content. It's the ownership. It's the upstream, that kind of not worrying about the upstream distribution and letting it come to you and it is changing the culture of the content we create and they can feel be more freely. Some of my favorite tweets are things that are like, I would never have created and put that to me that song out and it's my favorite song and I love it and I don't think I ever would have gotten to get to that point to make that song or do that if I didn't if I wasn't focusing on music NFTs. It's enabling is enabling an even better culture and environment to create it, which is like making the sounds and the content even better. What's up guys, thank you for listening. "Algorithms to build followers in a viral setting like that's a whole new market to tap into short form content. That's worth collecting. I think the most prevailing example is looking at memes memes that get virality and get a lot of views and a lot of attention to become one with culture, right? The memes of culture, those are probably worth collecting as well. But there aren't markets for that. The markets aren't yet completely ascribed just yet, right? So I'm trying to think about it comes down to education onboarding, maybe it comes down to more like successful case studies, right? I'd argue that seeing Daniel Allen kind of like take off in the music space, has motivated a lot of other musicians to enter the space, seeing what he did in 48 hours, right? Opened up the mines and creativity for many labels, many independent artists and everything in between. So kind of getting more of these case studies out there of like a successful short form content creator and a successful podcaster and a successful videographer and a successful cook, right? Like a chef that wants to create a cookbook and wants to sell ebooks via NFTs, right? I think it's documenting that through education and then providing the right pipelines for onboarding. That could stimulate. If you look at the way that quotes often happens, it comes from people replicating things that they've seen work elsewhere, whether it's the different models we saw with profile picture NFTs and identities mapping over to music NFTs and people experimenting with similar models around one O one versus multi print editions to people replicating successes of people that either autos that are doing similar things to them. I think sometimes that replication works and like a model that's proven to work in one context all in one form of media does map of it to another. But at the time, we need to find tweaks on the structure of the release and the NFT. It's maybe more suited to the kind of content being released. And I think that I still feel like the place to be looking in order to find the evolutions to how releases should look like for new forms of content and for new mediums. We should be looking at those underlying value propositions like reasons why people collect and why people get value out of collecting to help find what needs to evolve as we kind of spread to new mediums and new kinds of contents and relationships between collectors and their NFT base. What's up guys? Thank you for listening.

"What does the intersection of web three and live music look like? It's a good question. I guess I'll take this one to start. I think it's also variable, right? It depends on the type of artist that you are. If you're a web three act, let's call it. You release music NFTs. There is this world where you can turn some of your art, right? Let's say you spend a lot of time on your visuals. You can turn your NFTs into tour visuals, which is like super sick. There is this pool of individuals and also companies who are like making like virtual live experiences, which is also really cool. And then I think, I think it would be really cool to see multiple music artists who release music NFTs. Hit the road together. And just like get in front of people's faces and yeah, I think there's just a whole bunch of different applications. You have people also who are making ticketing experiences, we've done some pull up, pull out experiences. And yeah, I guess it kind of just depends on how far you want to take it with your imagination. Your shows like an artist's show is all about, you know, that's like a curated experience, you know? There's a lot of thought and effort that goes into it. So I think it just depends on where you want to take it. Because the cool thing about here is there's no blueprint. If you want to make it, go out and make it. You know, just figure out how to do it, figure out who you need, go knock on some doors and you're going to find a way to do it and figure it out. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, one thing I'll add, I really want to do a tastefully. So I don't necessarily like, for me personally, I don't think I'm going to be the guy that has like apes behind me when I'm playing per se, and that's not I mean that as respectfully as I possibly can. But what I'm the way that I want it to be is like an Easter egg. I like good art. So if I'm DJing, I want to play songs that are really good and I really, really want those people to be dropping music and I have to do so that I can support them. I want the visuals behind me to be really, really strong, but I really want that to be an artist that is dropping on foundation or super rare or whatever it is. Like I want to find like a very natural way of creating the sort of synergy. But one other thing that I'll say is, really, speaking for myself, there's a 0% chance I can be where I am without collaborating. Like I am a producer. So a lot of as much as I love my 100% are friends, like bloody white, who literally fucking does at everything. And anything and everything. Things mix masters producers, whatever. I rely on other people to make my art what it is. You know? And I mean, I'm dropping some instrumental stuff. I just drop honey like which was like, I dropped it on sound a while ago, but that was like an instrumental record, but most of the time I am relying on other people to make my stuff go over the top. So I really kind of want to emphasis the live collaborative component. This is something that we've loosely talked about. We don't really have any details on when or how we want to do it, but in the event that we started doing some touring stuff around criteria, the way that I really wanted to feel is like, I don't want it to be like electronic musician Daniel Allen brings out special guest Rio Cragen. Like I don't want that at all. Like I want to do like a co headline situation where it's like, no, no, no, no, no. This is like both of us. This is like, we're going to do like maybe 30 minutes of my music, 15 minutes of 30 minutes of our music, 15 minutes of my greatest hits, 15 minutes of years, greatest hits. But I think that leaning into the collaboration rather than being the cool artist who is like only bringing out special guests, you know, like just doesn't feel as correct to me. Like unless it's branded as like, I would do like a DJ set where I'd bring out like 8 web three artists and just really lean in entirely on the collaborative component of that. These are 8 people that I made records with. You can name them. There's DLG, there's Pluto. There's bloody, there's Rio. You can like, there's deegan. You can just keep going down less and just make almost like a little bit of a night of that. But I think really like this idea of cosines or like putting other people on or whatever it is. I think is really important for the live experience because when one of us and I don't know who it is, it's like the whole breakout artist argument. When one of us starts to do really well and starts touring and starts buying all these festivals or whatever it is, when you start bringing out other artists, like at least for me, specifically, I like festivals. I want a lot of those people to be people that do music NFTs, because maybe someone pulls up to my set, doesn't like any of it, but loves deegan when he plays bittersweet. And they care enough to look up deacon. But then maybe he'll have music NFTs in his bio and Spotify or something like that. And it slowly slowly slowly starts to bring people in. You know, it's like the more composed of it. And that really is a good way to kind of wrap all this is like the composability of like a drop the composability of like bringing a bunch of people in. I think it's absolutely essential because none of us could do what we're doing without having an ecosystem around us..

It's enabling is enabling an even better culture and environment to create it, which is like making the sounds and the content even better. Step step out from the creators like the consumer is us like I find myself often digging through my Friends wallets trying to find music that they collected and listened to that. Like I've discovered bloody white through spin 8 O 8, right? So I just kind of like going through what he was collecting because I like his taste and listening to some of that stuff and be like, wow, this is a really great song and then guess what I did right afterwards. I went and collected it, you know? And it's sort of like it's changed the entire behavior of consumption. It's changed the entire behavior of creation. And I think you nailed it and I wrote this down. You sounds new genres and new platforms like that's web three. And web three, here's another great quote. Web three is built for the next generation of creators. I love that. I think it's a great way to sort of sum up this entire conversation and to sort of add the cherry on top on this brand new article that you put together. Brett, before I let you go, I want to be very cognizant of the time that we're in in crypto today. It's like beyond a bear market. People are getting slashed left and right. Very unfortunately, people are losing a lot of money, trusting all these different applications, funds, platforms, exchanges. How can creators keep their heads up and continue creating, especially when they're seeing all these external events kind of like triggering their new environment? Yeah, I mean, it's more correlated now than right now than it will ever be again going forward. It just gets less and less correlated. Like the prices of whatever FTP and soul and the collateral damage to other tokens and all of this, even the effect it has on people's liquidity to buy NFTs. It's more tied together now than ever. It all came from one place. In 2017, there was only ICOs. We're expanding the more and more categories. It becomes more and more separate over time. But I mean, I love to see, it's crazy. If you're on sound right now, if you're on glass right now, it looks like all time highs. It's unaffected. I mean, Daniel Allen's floor just got swept, like 13 E yesterday, like a bloodbath, right? Crazy. Like the other day, right? You have real Craig and does the last minute, one hour note is dropped. Sells out in less than a minute. Right? Like things that are doing well content that's doing well, the communities that are growing around these creators and these content.

"They sort of repurpose somebody's existing piece of content and add their own creative twist to it. And I think a good example of that is seeing what Daniel Allen was doing with his glass house remixes, and now he's bringing other music artists into web three and using his music as a way to kind of navigate their compass, right? How are you sort of understanding media Legos or composable content? Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I mean, so I'll give a quick shot out. I think the first person that did the quote unquote me Legos, Jessie Walden. Definitely some inspiration there. But yeah, on the composable content, I mean, you know, it's really like, on that side for sure, like co creation, production, big part of it. I think on another level, a lot of it's really like, everything you see within these applications is being built infrastructure wise. Around how is content discovered? Curated, how is it just engaged with all these different applications have their own different kind of ways and they build their own layers? And these are all very right pieces of infrastructure that can be composable once things are continent entities. Once the content is on chain, and it can distribute freely upstream to any platforms, you can also start to use shared infrastructure, protocol tools around how we can interact content. How do you create it, how do you engage with it, right? So there's all these kind of different layers of. Interacting with content that have these opportunities for new protocols and shared infrastructure to come out that different distribution interfaces that focus on different types of content can decide which things integrate and use and create the best experience for their end user. So yeah, and much more like an open ecosystem. So I think that's kind of really like the heart and the focus. And also down towards the remix production co creation side of things. It enables a lot of that as well for sure. Yeah. And I think this is also a perfect transition to sort of highlighting kind of like the content NFT life cycle. And I want to introduce this next section of the podcast just sort of sharing my screen. And for those that are listening, I kind of read it off because I think from my perspective, you were the first person to tweet something like this out and to present content NFTs as like the top of funnel sort of a primitive in all these other pieces of media kind of fall underneath it, right? So content NFTs as a tweet continues content NFTs, crypto art music NFTs, video NFTs, writing NFTs, podcasts NFTs, TV, NFTs, film NFTs, all content

"Creators of all types like whether you're not just a musician, right, whether you're a writer or a photographer or doing all types of creation you can do online today. So I'd like to start off with getting inside onto what you've learned as a host talking to all these fantastic guests. So if there's three tips that we're giving to people who want to build web three community or get into the creator economy themselves through NFTs, what kind of tips can we give to these people starting out? And if we can list three, that'd be phenomenal. Yeah, okay, so I think the first one is don't be afraid to experiment because there are no rules here. Nobody sort of remembers your failures unless it's like an incredibly huge rug pull or I don't know, DeFi hack of some sort. So like if you're just like a small time creator just due to the space coming into crypto, join as many communities as you can, right? And just like try to try to experiment yourself, try to issue some NFTs, free NFTs, fail, get rejected, and just keep tampering and tinkering with what's possible. I think that's number one. Don't be afraid to experiment. Number two, this is something that Daniel Allen taught me who's like a really, really well known successful web three web three native musician and producer in the space. He had a successful campaign that did incredibly well and he did it with like 200 Twitter followers. And he's like, you know, people may seem like I did something that was an overnight success, but I really did my homework and put 6 months into sort of climbing across different Discord channels, going to different events, doing one of ones with people before I had a drop. So the second point is before trying to attempt something yourself, that's like really big and grandiose that you expect some type of sizable outcome, really do your diligence in homework and meet other people in the community that might end up just collecting from you down the line. And the third tip is, I like seeing people who consistently show up, that could be either from consistently showing up with your time or consistently showing up with your money. So either continuously collecting other things from other creators, and building social capital or kind of like being involved in different communities with your time and using like a governance power right to kind of contribute on chain. Don't be afraid to experiment. Do your homework and be consistent. I think those are the top three things, yeah. I like that a lot. And I feel like tip number two on that community building kind of comment and showing up is that still. So you still think that's a valuable thing to do even as we're moving a little bit away from, I feel like these Discord groups. I mean, Discord, a year ago, everyone was saying, you got to be there. You got to be paying attention to all these Discord channels. Everyone kind of got Discord burned out. So, but you're still feeling maybe it's not even Discord only. It

Life not midlife. It really came at the end of college. That transitional period from college to graduate school what caused it was really just a lot of important eye opening conversation. I had an internship. The summer my junior year in college at national review magazine nineteen ninety-two. That was the year that people were really starting to look at data on income inequality and i remember sitting in editorial meetings and people were work shopping. The data and i you know was kind of an effort to find a way for it not to be there. Obviously it was there And it's about what it meant and the take that was coming out of the meeting was that it was okay that income inequality was increasing as long as you could think that down the line. You know people's kids grandkids would would be okay that there were still mobility and that just seemed really wrong to me. As i was sitting in those meetings i thought it was really important for our political chutian to be focused on everybody's well being in the present. It wasn't enough of punch to the future. The idea that people might be okay in the future. So that was my real break point..

"Companies that choose to profit from such catastrophe. Mm hmm. Thanks. How about the walls of waste of money? Garret? We heard that before, too. I'm here to say no to Trump's border wall that it is wrong that it is a waste of money. We should be investing in in public education funding. We should be investing in infrastructure. We should be investing in mobility and transit. Mobility. So and again. This is the double standard. That's there. Just like you know, Nancy can go get her hair done without wearing a mask. Even when nobody else could. And Gavin Newsom can go hang out with people that are related to him that I live in his household. We could have a dinner party with like 12 or 20 of them and go have a good time. I mean, the hypocrisy is all there, and that's what they were saying. Well, you know what I mean? Trump's supporters of the ones that are bad. They're the ones that are terrible s so therefore they're trying to make all of us out to be domestic terrorists. And that's why they need to do this. Of course again. Now that say, Keep domestic terrorist that you build the wall. But if you know the wall on the southern border to make sure terrorist, don't cross it. You're racist. Waste of money doesn't work. The 30 FT Wall won't work, but the 8 FT Wall that's fence. With razor wire on top that that'll do the trick. That'll do it. This is all to make us look like we're crazy people. The thing is They're never gonna were never our side is never going to think that way and the ones they're trying to convince already may think that we are crazy. Give me a break.
