Andrew DeAngelo on Cannabis Activism

"Everybody. This is Jason Wilson with curious about Canvas podcast. Thanks much for tuning in once again So I am beyond delighted today to be able to sit down and talk with Andrew Dangelo at you. Know there's so many ways I could introduce you. Activists you know co founder of Harbourside. You're involved with the last prisoner project now. Which I know you've been bringing lot of tension to but welcome Andrew Dangelo. Thanks so much for being willing to come on the podcast today. Thank you Jason. It's great to be with your community today. Yeah totally. I'm really stoked to see where our conversation goes. I've been following a lot of your press over the past several months. Some of the interviews you've been doing and keeping up with some your work and there's a there are a lot of milestones to go through but then I know there's a lot you've been talking about lately that I don't WanNa make you regurgitate the same stuff that you've been staying over again someone to try to go in some unique directions here but there's all sorts of stuff for us to Go into right now. One of the kind of segue into a lot of things one of the first things I wanted to ask you about. Is you recently took a trip to Barcelona didn't you? I did I was there for. Icbc Barcelona and span of this. Yes yeah and you. You didn't make it out to the hashish and hemp museum. That's out there I did. I had a great time at the museum. That's Ben drunker zones and operates that museum. He also has one in Holland. Amsterdam and Ben's been old friend of the family for decades and so it was great vehicle able to see his newest outposts there in Barcelona. It's a beautiful building. He's done all this wonderful stained glass work and yeah and if you if you haven't been Barcelona the architecture Barcelona's just every single building every single doorway window archway. is just extraordinarily well-crafted. Beautiful beautiful work and the the hemp and Marijuana Museum. There is no exception and they've ban in his team just done a stellar job with that museum. I encourage everyone to make a pilgrimage to check it out. Yeah I saw some of the photos posted on social media and I was fascinated. How beautiful some of you know the way. Everything was presented the design architecture and everything and I wasn't even really familiar with that museum. Can you describe a little bit about what that museum is like? And kind of how things are presented. And what your experience. There was sure. The museum has multiple levels. So it's two or three stories. There's elevators and stairs that you navigate through it and it's part a history lesson of the plant and and specifically Ham You know the two. The two tracks museum really talks. Most about is is as cannabis as medicine and as an intoxicant and ham has a industrial raw material so so that those are the two focuses. I would say of the museum. And Ben's just got an incredible collection of ancient hemp materials and modern hemp wears also that are represented by some of the leading can't cannabis hemp companies of today. Of course UH sense. He seeds is right next door. Okay Marijuana Museum both in Barcelona Amsterdam and and you can purchase CBD products there and genetics and a whole bunch of really cool will art and culture and Swag from both the museum and since he seats and I was just thrilled to be in Barcelona and an experience that you know we we in the United States. We don't we have cannabis with sort of the first cannabis museum or installation in Las Vegas. There we'd maps just did a big installation in Los Angeles. That was a museum. But we don't have permanent cannabis ham. You know that I'm aware of that's that's as large in a serious As bans I'm sure we have lots of small Wonsan and probably millions of small ones in people's homes. I certainly is yeah I got. I got some in mind mile in my altar of course but you know so when it. It's not easy to have a museum. You know museums don't make money. They lose money and they are about building culture and about keeping something alive for future generations to learn about an and that's hard work to do in our movement in our industry is still in the embryonic stages and I look forward to the day and I hope Stephen I get to be a part of it Where there are something like that. The Hemp Museum here in the United States a- every city should have won. Every every community has cannabis story that goes back hundreds of years and and we can all tell our own version of what's happened over the last hundred years so it's part of the cultural work that I think we're moving into sort of a cultural renaissance canvas. We've had you know we had to legalize and that was just brutal. One hundred year war you know and now we have all these little battles to get legalisation right which we have not done and and of course you know. We have a lot of work to do to get legalisation rights. So that's going to be ten thousand battles that we're GONNA have to fight for that. The cultural work is really something that I think our community is going to have a lot more fun within the political work and I I really. Creativity and culture is been one of the strengths of the cannabis movement community for forever. Going back to the jazz age you know going back to the brothels of New Orleans going back to Jamaica going back to India Longtime in this plant has inspired the creativity of men and women all over the world and so we get to come out of the shadows culturally now and into the light and Where are colors loud and proud and and talk about the plant in ways like a museum? There's millions of ways to express cannabis culture but a museum certainly one of them and you know the there's a big wide open cultural world out there that I hope your listeners will will embrace. There's also I know you know. Science on this podcast. There's a big sign this world of cannabis scientists just like just like culture. It's in the embryonic stages in Gosh. I can't I can't I can't think of something more exciting right now. Then to be working with canvas science or cannabis culture.

"Two lovely song. I do wonder what was going through their minds in the sense of that they you know. They wrote the song for their son. Meanwhile their relationship was frame and actually quite slow he said in an interview and Vibe when came out in two thousand that he guests that Voodoo and part is di Angelo sort of working out the Tomo of the ending of his relationship but Angie stone she co wrote four songs on the album and she is a big reason that he is where he is today and I do think she doesn't get the credit for that. I mean. Obviously she has her own solo career as a singer songwriter. But I do think frankly that the you know. It's the men that work on that album. Who get pretty much. All of the Shine Hall of the glory and Angie Stone is just sort of a footnote. I duNNo. I feel that I wrote about this in the book that she definitely deserves more credit in being a at least if not at least a seed as far as sprouting the ideas. That the Angelo at all you know created that ended up becoming flew to when the video for untitled. How does it feel drops? It changes the Angelo's world. What happens described this video which you simply call the video. And the impact. It had on the Angelo's career. The video starts out on the back of his head with corn rows and then he does one eighty solely comes around. You see his eyes closed and you see his eyes open floor. You can obviously tell. To have seen as zillion and like when it's on his eyes. And then you know you hear his voice news you in essence as he keeps saying it pulls out and then finally as it pulls out it's like a mid range shot of him from the torso from the belly button up and he's totally ripped cheeses glistening. He's got his little chain cross on it at so he's dug down but in this sort of he was your thug. Fantasy for lack of a better description. I mean he was the guy who was singing to you and singing to only you and and you got to look at six pack while doing any or dislike Dominique trionnaire. Who was his manager at the time? It was actually his idea for the video and he was very clear that he wanted to make Dangelo a superstar. He didn't just want you know voodoo. Come out and it just sort of you know like Oh. That's nice sounds good. He had a master plan and that was the entitled Radio and Diangelo released by first glance. Br being naked even though he wasn't really make it easy pants on. Its Pants on. But you know he. That was intentional. And and he. He knew that it would be like lightning in a bottle. You know he knew that people were just going to follow allow you know basically when video came out and I think the Angela was very uncertain about it. Because he's shy you know and I think that's the thing is I you know he's he's very shy is and sort of a nerd and Deandra was sort of like you to be naked. It was a game changer. People say that a lot but women were stopped in their tracks and particularly black women. Were like it replace. Hi How are you you know it was you know instead of how is your day was have you seen any? There was a point. I was on the phone with my hairstylist. In Brooklyn I was living in New York City at the time and I was talking to her and all of a sudden it was a silent. And I'm thought what happened. What why hello. Are you there? Anyone who's ever been in a hair salon. It's usually pretty loud in a lot of people going. Yeah do you have you know blow dryers and people talking and the TV and in the distance? I could hear all these black women are sitting there watching video in real time. Total silence except just deangelis voicing but not watching a video women. We were elated because at the time it was pretty much videos with particularly again. This was the rise of hip hop. And you had you know women in Bikinis on top of cars at poolside. Wherever you know and even like rock videos you know girls girls girls by Motley crue and you know there was nothing for women to look at and this was probably the. I don't know I won't. I don't WanNa see I ever but the first video in a time where was made for women to look at for our pleasure for our entertainment and and we could sit there and be like yea unfortunately it was probably too successful. It was probably in the sense that it took away from the album. It took away from the music from you. Know from the very prolific work di Angelo and. His team did on this album. Everybody now is focused on video. The pressure to be a sex symbol more than a musician. Kind of derails deangelis career following Voodoo. He struggles with drug use and and weight gain and run. Ins with the law. And it's not until fifteen years later that he releases his next album Black Messiah. Nevertheless Voodoo remained one of the touchstones of soul R. and B. and pop music and I'm sure we'll continue to feel the influence of this record. Faith thank you so much for joining us. There's been such a fun conversation. Pick up this book simply called Voodoo by Faith. Panic found wherever books are sold. And if you haven't yet go listen to this album. It is too good for words. "Not only do we have that moving from talking into singing and a multitude of ways of communicating. But you also have the same sort of a choir in the background totally. What's so neat for me about this is like oftentimes when you think about acquires job. It's to not stand out from the lead vocalist and usually do that by a sort of more constrained silencing and here we have just so much abroad oh and really emotional singing and yet it's still blends like it. Feels like it's actually all part of one texture all voices. Yeah no this is an approach where every syllable gets like the maximum amount of emotion and depth and at times. What they're saying is less important than the way it's being sung in the Wade's being expressed. So that's the kind of sacred side of this musical experience. Both perhaps I think in the sacred experience probably what's being said is probably extremely war in the feeling equally sort of bringing it up but I'm curious about how then translates into R&B context especially when it becomes about sensuality rather than spirituality. There it feels like the the way of singing ends up being privileged totally. Yeah No. There's there's this sort of sacred celestial vibe to this album and then there's the profane the secular the earthy and I think you can hear that on a track lake chicken grease kick kick back open another window now so on that previous track the Line we could hear the Gospel Influence here. Now we get the NBA influence and especially the influence of one of the Angelo's icons prints on this track. In fact the name of this track Chicken Grease has two meanings. One is like deep south soul food cooking. You know down dirties slap it on the chicken grease right and then the other is this term which. I learned from reading facebook. It's a term that prince used sort of code word when he wanted his guitarist or when he himself would want to do. This chicken grease meant playing a minor seventh chord in a sixteenth note pattern. Okay okay so Charlie. I'm GONNA need you to get out your acts okay and hit us with a minor chord. Okay yeah sure like this. I mean gorgeous on his own sweet. Just let that hang in the air for second but now we gotta put it the rhythm on top of it. What's that sound like strummed? In a fast sixteenth note rhythm. Yeah now he's now listen. We got some chicken grades if you WANNA hear it. In Prince look no further than one of his biggest hits kiss at the very beginning of the song there it is and if we turn back to the Angela. There's actually a moment in the track where he yells out. Give me some chicken. Grease on this and then sure enough guitar comes in with that. Chicken.

NBA Trade Deadline: D’Angelo Russell To The Knicks?

"We're going to go through all the major players teams and things and what they can happen as we were just over forty eight hours away from the trade deadline online. So let's start there Ryan with the New York Knicks. They are actually one of the more interesting teams around the deadline. That got a lot of potential assets that they could be sending out. Marcus Morris has one of those guys. They've got a lot of potential interesting. Big teams could be interesting and also we've heard rumors about their interest in de Ngelo Russell in some sort of trade situation with the Golden State Warriors. So what could you tell us. What's what's the what's the latest on the next and what you're hearing about their plan now that they've no longer have Steve Mills that has their president as we approached the trade deadline? I'd be frustrated about about the de Ngelo Russell rumors if I were Nix fan because keep in mind. The Knicks had a bunch of cap space last year it was widely known that the Brooklyn Nets and other teams. We're going to pursue Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and that the Ngelo Russell may be acquire -able and When the Knicks did not get a meeting with Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving they quickly shifted and signed a a bunch of power forwards including Julius randle and Marcus Morris and Bobby Portis and did not go after Daniel Russell despite a big hole at the point guard position? So you know if the Knicks were to trade a bunch of assets for Liangelo. I think that would look pretty bad. You know six or seven months after free agency but You know this is where the Knicks I think they have the worst point guard or depth and talent rotation in the league. I I don't think they have a viable starter right now. It'd be hard to say that Frank Nickel Tina or Dennis Smith junior is they're offered Payton. It is a at least they'll even league average started so I understand why they have some interest in in the Angela Russell again I think they should be looking long term. I think they should could see if they can get the late first round pick from a contender for Marcus Morris. I keep an eye and the clippers Rudy. He made a good point earlier about the clippers ability to trade a first round. Pick the last time in in a in a while So you deal that would work. is Marcus Morris going to La For Mo- heartless and a first something like that. So that's that's where I'd be exploring if I were in the next front office but again what they should do and what they are doing. I think maybe two very different things I heard the next. They're interested in keeping Morris and they may potentially even add to their team like trying to trade for a Daniel Russell which I think would be a mistake but Yeah with what they have going on in the front office right now with with the changes in the short term pressure. I wouldn't be surprised if they make an aggressive move to try to add to their help me out with the NGELO. Russell like feel like they're the team in in the Leveraged Bridge position. But I don't feel that way I feel like there's kind of like a ticking time bomb on when they can get rid of him but it seems like the more they ask for assets. The people are willing to give that up like me understand de Ngelo Russell. Why teams are so interested in getting good question scale? I think because if you're a team that needs a young point guard which is we've discussed. This show is probably the most difficult position to fill in today's NBA. You don't have one then. The NGELO Russell is the best player lawyer who looks like he's available or maybe available either now or in the summer so I think if you're a team you know you're probably kick the tires on a guy like drew holiday. I especially especially if you're a contending team but if you're a team that's trying to build like the Knicks or like the Minnesota Timberwolves and Diangelo Russel is appealing because he's relatively young. He's in his prime him and he's under team control for the next four years One of the questions. I had prior to this. Trait season was whether teams look at. The Angelo is overpaid now because keep in mind Minnesota talking to a deal with the Ngelo Russell and the twenty five million dollar a year range. I ended up getting an average of about thirty from Golden State. So that's not a significant difference Overall but it does impact your team building your your salary cap and potential luxury tax ramifications down the road. So I agree with this gal but I think You know Diangelo. Russell is available now teams know that if they can't get him now that will almost certainly be available over the summer. And if you're a team like Minnesota where the young star and Karl Anthony towns who doesn't want to wait to win games aims and your teams lost eleven or twelve in a row. I think that makes Dangelo Russell. Even more appealing.

"And not just wait it out and the first words out of his mouth where I don't think you should do. It and I was shocked shocked because this was the first time we had gotten someone who responded negatively and so I asked why and he said you know try it out on a local level for see how it goes refined your operations then scaled up to state and then scale it up maybe to national and maybe eventually go global and I'm thinking that's going to be five years from now if we're GONNA do this. No this thing has to be global right away so Jimmy. We didn't listen to one of the things we asked ourselves. Well we said to one. Do we have a visit for this. Is it clear. Yes you know. We know the pathway to get there the second thing we asked it's our selves. We said What happens if this thing massively fails right? What does this look like in its worst case scenario and we said well he's supposed to me will probably just go out and serve in Washington to DC and it'll be two guys are serving that day that's what it looks like at? Its worst okay. If that's the worst case scenario that's not so bad. Let's do this. Yeah all right so you jump in this is twenty fifteen and I was actually at the very first day service event just by chance happen to be going in the DC area. I Today's service three thousand participants. Not a two now. All fifty states someone in each state contributed twenty eight countries around the world. This is year one and essentially mosaic of Compassionate Service giving give example to quick of what people took in terms of how they would serve on. PJ serve as I think one of the one of my favorite stories. You know some of the little things really resonate with you right. There's a group of Texas access who Found a need for an individual in their community. who was in a wheelchair but he didn't have a wheelchair ramp at home? So would they do. They built a ramp but then they actually found around that there are more people in the community who need a wheelchair ramps and so they decided to make it a quarterly project to go out and build a ramp for someone in the community. You know little things like that. Yeah I really resonate. And then my my favorite moment every day of service love to share with you my favorite moments Ashley. First thing. When I wake up in the morning firstly I do rollover check my phone for the Hashtag? PT Dos. What we see because the rest of the world is ahead of us in time is projects rolling in from around the world see projects in Japan Indonesia Iraq Nigeria Myanmar? We are crushes it every year. They have the news. I have no idea what they say on their newscasts. That don't speak the language but it looks amazing. No Oh and they have the shirts we never send them our shirts. Somehow they produce them themselves. It's amazing to see the passion and outpouring and the mosaic. Am like you said of service. Being painted all around the world for that one day I want to go back to the the wheelchair ramp right. Someone saw a problem and then they fixed. They found the gap so parallel to what the movement my show is saying if you see a gap solve it absolutely. You can't miss if I'm GONNA blow through these tests real quick. That was year one year. Two you all fifty states again forty two countries around the world so you go up their third. PD Days Service. All fifty states again fifty five countries. That was twenty seventeen. What are we looking at at eighteen thousand nine hundred fifty countries last year and we're still calculating the souls? It was October twelfth this past year. But I love you guys. Were doing pizza. Day Service wrapup event. This evening This evening Friday six to eight. PM cosponsored by Abtei and were creating. We're building teddy bears for a local hospital and so we're going to do teddy bears and cards. Our goal is to build two hundred. Teddy bears will need you guys to help us do it to make it. A reality is going to be right next door to the tonight. Show there we go two hundred People have taken part in. PT Day Service before this year. Are I make you feel looking into room like that. Yeah it makes me feel grateful. That's the best way to describe uh-huh you know full of gratitude For people leaning into an idea to better their communities you know. I think we're in a really compassionate profession. You know really empathetic aesthetic profession and it makes me proud to be serving with people like you. I feel like at this point. I'm just along for the ride and it's really people like you all who are driving it from year to year. I like the the people whose hands aren't up yet because that's opportunity there's things have already pretty huge and there are people who haven't engaged yet but maybe they will they are and it's all about local service for global double facts are creating change in your community home and change in your community plus communities all around the country and all around the world greasy chain.

"The United States government. Yeah. That's right. How did that happen? All right. So it all started with this investigation into a Bank failure this local Bank in Chicago. Went belly up in nineteen Ninety-one and FBI special agent named Tony diangelo started looking at the bad loans. The Bank had made he was an expert in white collar crime and organized crime. And he discovered that the biggest bad loan Bank had made had gone to one man, John Christopher Mr. Christopher had a couple of trucking companies some other businesses and he had borrowed. I can't remember these act amount. But I believe the total deficit the Bank was in the millions to five million. That's what John Christopher would later. Same court through these companies. He borrowed money and was not paying the loans back on time. And they had to be ultimately be written off. Tony Dangelo looked up. John Christopher in the FBI's database and learned they had a prison record and mob ties. So Dangelo calls. John Christopher thinking he can help the FBI bossed the higher ups at the Bank. So I told him I was I looked at your dealings with cosmopolitan Bank. I've got you dead to right on financial fraud with your loan application, and I found in my career. The people are very curious. They wanna know one information you have about them, whatever. Now also mentioned to him. I know you just gotta jail. You had a couple of kids may we can help each other. They arrange to meet at a Pizza Hut. I mean, if you wanna know a mobbed up guy take a picture John Christopher built like a bull about five. Ten stocky wearing a member's only jacket toxin Dem's and does and just to just. A funny guy. I laid out my case against him. Fellow italian. You can just listen to me talk. "So did I look at Steve Perry and get any feelers out knows Steve Farris? This boyfriend just kind of, you know anyway. So I said, what's the deal magazines? I've gotta meet him. I've got to meet him now we're grown women, right? And this is very groupie asked. So I thought, well, for the sake of my friend, I better do some deep diving here. It took me forty eight hours within forty, eight hours. I was totally obsessed what I said. I was. I think what this is about as it's your interstate Perry, what's your inner Steve Perry? And then as I started a peel back the layers of Perry, I call it Steve Perry. It's like one thing in steep, Steve periodicity because this is a guy that their parables in there for your life right beyond. We even I don't even want to meet him. And I said, too, I said to to magnate look, if I'm not, I'm going to pitch this podcast. Yeah, or certainly as as episode. One of my, I'm Bev. I'm Bev Dangelo and I've obsessed. Yeah, you know. Because this is a perfect example how it happens to me, but in walking her through, I start to see right like, okay, Steve Perry, the ban want him. Why wasn't he was on his path? And then then the then we'll, you know, he grew up in Hanford. He was with the band sullies played in high school bands and stuff like that. He's saying, but what happened was he came to LA. He was going to get a record deal with Columbia with his band called alien project for the July comes around and the bass player gets killed. So he's fucked up. But at the same time concurrently journey was an existence, but it was like a searing guitar. Band nail show him. You know, one of those like the San Francisco band. Right. Four. Nobody wants it the what's enough already Columbia had well, you know, again, you got to go back to that time, but Columbia said you're not charting so, and they used to. I had one. They used to give you four album deals. I one was like, who are you? Second was like, let's expand empire little bit third win. Who's like get your hits hits. So anyway, they hadn't charted and and and so Columbia said to them, you've gotta get a lead vocalist, you know, we are else or else. So they got a guy. And when I look back and look at that guy, think there was maybe even some I don't wanna say racism, but you can look at the the man that they had as a singer, same as Robert Fleischman and he was swore the and he and he looked Jewish and he did not look like a teeny Bopper. He wrote charting guy was a heavy duty sounding and looking guy lavar. MC five guys. Five guys. He looked dangerous, and there was a certain danger. Obviously the manager and the record company weren't looking for that because Steve comes in and this is part of the Puri entity. You know he was a smooth aquiline gentle, romantic. Mandic romantic to the point where my obsession took me even to his Portuguese roots because there is a type of scene called fado and fado is is Portuguese folk music, and it's romantic and it sunk full voice. You know, I'd like to see him make that album, but that's a whole other thing. That's my plan for him, you know? But because also, you know, his voices change. But anyway, so I signed him sound like a. Girl, that's well. It's funny, some digital lady Jean, the Lady Jane's on lady tremend- affair a what, or mend affair. They were a pair of there. Their genes from the. The high highways Ray. Save the civilized. Right, right. So you had that going on. And so I, I, I said to me, well, this is what is about. It's really, you know, we're we're trying. We're feeling like girls. Yeah, we're feeling like we're tapping into that. Need free romance and the thing where where your life is only about a relationship and here we are much older women..

If I was significantly intoxicated, my friends got texts and calls for me that said, I'm calling you so I don't call him. In hindsight, I can't even believe begin to express gratitude to my past self or picking high dignity over losing his shit over the guy over the phone. I went back to, it's called a break-up anytime I needed a quell, a quick self-esteem pickup. This book is still up my form of comfort food. Occasionally, I now live in Los Angeles and while I had rough patches, I walked muscle beach in Venice and read the break-up guide in between chapters. "It's not that they have to do anything the information is there in the public for anybody to look at it's an amazing thing that what they did was they found a distant relative of mr dangelo they found a distant relative and then just from that i mean you're talking about i don't know how distant i don't know if we're talking second third cousin somebody's grandma whatever it is they found a distant relative and from that point they know they just have to trace this family tree and then eliminate people based on gender obviously because there's no women that were even suspected here you find the men in this family you find the men in the family that would have lived in california during those times of the crimes and you find men in california that lived in california sorry men that lived in california during those crimes that would also fit a certain age profile airways absolutely a lot of work that went on to to dig through as the sacramento da puts it this haystack to find the needle now this method of investigation will come under fire a guy by the name of steve mercer is the chief attorney for the forensic division of the maryland office of the public defender listen to this guy business card listen to this day people who submit dna for ancestors testing or unwittingly becoming genetic informants on their innocent family skews me steve but the family is an innocent if they are actually pinged by law enforcement that seems to be the they're actually guilty of something a silly argument i mean i think going forward there are going to be some protections that result from this case when it comes to those public ancestry sites fulfilled i guess they did provide information the three others they just didn't fill out the paperwork correctly but thirty four law enforcement requests all of them had to do with credit card mis misuse and identity theft not once did law enforcement at least in two thousand seventeen not once did law enforcement go to.

"The state in the seventies and eighties has been identified as a former police officer seventy two year old joseph dangelo who is fired from the auburn police department has been tapped the golden state killer sacramento county sheriff scott jones says de ngelo terrorize suburban neighborhoods leaving a cold trail that baffled investigators for decades day we'll lease brought the first step towards closure for those victims of these horrendous crimes dangelo was a police officer in exeter from nineteen seventy three to nineteen seventy six and was fired from the auburn department in nineteen seventy nine after being arrested for stealing several items from a drugstore french president emmanuel macron says he believes president trump will withdraw us from the iran nuclear deal a move that he says would lead to a period of heightened tensions with an outcome that's hard to predict macron disagrees with such a move we find it bus the united states and france that is why we cannot say we should get rid of it like that the white house spokesman says trump had no decision to announce it on the nuclear deal a wave of redclad teachers will crash on the zona state capital today for an unprecedented job action that will close schools for a majority of the state's public school students says part of an educator uprising that's also bubbling up in colorado around thirty thousand to fifty thousand teachers and their supporters are expected to march through phoenix to rally at the arizona state capitol to demand a twenty percent raise for teachers about one billion dollars to return to school funding to pre recession levels and increase pay for support staff and one and done may soon be done the ncwa commission on college basketball is calling on the nba and its players association to allow players to enter the draft out of high school the current rule requires players to be nineteen years old or a year out of high school the commission also recommends penalties for rule oh breakers and more transparency from apparel companies the recommendations will need to be adopted by nc double a membership to take effect are used to not like that i wish that guys would play in college especially because i wanted my college to do well right but do you have a marketable skill and a chance to make the money yeah baseball players are allowed what if you were a computer genius right i.

"Gigantic contract you have an aura about you when you're the highest paid player in football even though kirk cousins may not hold that title for very long he's still gonna walk in with twenty eight million a year guys are going to listen to him guys you're going to acknowledge that the front office and the coaching staff decided he's your guy follow him and sometimes that's what it takes to allow a guy to become the leader that he wasn't in washington because we saw the comments from dangelo hall a week or so ago when he went through the espn carwash we didn't really think kirk made the commitment and this that and the other thing does all the talking points that have been privately whispered by the washington front office as they tried to undercut cousins the vikings going to try to prop him up and we'll see if he can prop the team up he had forty nine hundred passing yards a couple of years ago with a team that isn't nearly as good as the team that he's stepping onto now what will he do with the vikings with stefan digs with adam feeling with coward off with a healthy dalvin cook it could be great or it could be like so many other of these experiments we've seen where we get excited in the off season when there are no games to be played the money gets spent the tickets gets sold the jerseys get purchased and the games get played and the team isn't any better or maybe even worse for the investment the saints can have a higher degree of confidence in the fact that their investment and drew brees will pay off because they've had drew breeze around for the last twelve years another two years with drew brees at twenty five million per year and the thing that impresses me the most about this drew brees sliding down that scale from peyton manning toward tom brady not having to be the highest paid player in all of football not having to be the guy who's pushing the envelope for as competitive as drew brees is and he's one of the most competitive athletes in the nfl the idea that he's making two and a half million less per year than jimmy garoppolo three million less per year than kirk cousins however many million less per year when aaron rodgers signs his new deal breezes.
