And Biden should say, they absolutely should be prosecuted. You can not do this. They have to take a stand tonight, and if they don't take a stand tonight, they are complicit. The other thing is that the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi has been slow walking this bill that passed that Senate unanimously. To protect Supreme Court Justices, why is she doing that fast track it tonight? And if you don't, you're complicit. The third thing is that vice president Harris should come out and try to calm people down. For years, they've been saying that if roe V wade is overturned, that the police patty wagons are going to show up and arrest every woman in sight. Now they're saying that roe V wade, if it's overturned, it's going to kill women. And now you have this person who said, I will have a life's purpose. By killing somebody that they think is so evil, what if Kevin was not even good? What if you voted the other way? They don't know. They are so stupid. Right, it's absolutely absurd and I felt a little emotional about it because I know Brett Kavanaugh for a long time. One of my dearest friends when I worked in The White House. And his wife, Ashley, is lovely. And he has two daughters. Right. His daughters deserve this. Do they deserve to go to school and have to deal with the fact that somebody was going to sneak into their home? And kill them. Yeah. And if you don't do something about it tonight, you're complicit. Yes. If you don't do something about it, Schumer, your complicit.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis: The Infrastructure Bill Is 'Incredibly' Important for Aging Cities Like New York

"Right, let's listen to Nicole malli attack. This is the congresswoman from New York. Again, I've always liked her. So disappointed that she voted with 12 other Republicans in the House and rescued the Biden agenda as The Wall Street Journal editorial which I'm going to share with you points out. Listen to her comments to Bill hemmer and Dana perino this morning on Fox News. 19 Republican senators voted for it as well. But for those who did not, they just think this is a bad Bill. Why did it get your yes vote? Well, this bill, look, I read this bill, and it is covered to cover infrastructure. $350 billion is going to roads highways and bridges, which you would consider traditional infrastructure, and in the other 550 billion is for ports, airports, seaports, ferry systems, coastal resiliency projects, like the east or seawall that's so important to my district. Sewer systems, which is so incredibly important following Ida, the damage that took place in New York City, upgrading our subway signals to a communication based train control. We're still relying on pre World War II equipment in some subways. So for an aging city like New York City, this bill was incredibly important. And the reality is is that this is the type of investment that people actually pay taxes for those basic infrastructure needs that you expect from government, but have been neglected for decades. And as you reported earlier, I also believe that we significantly took away the leverage from the socialist squad. It is why AOC and the others voted against it because they knew that if the true infrastructure Bill passed, the spotlight would go onto their social spending bill that includes the IRS agents. It includes the Amnesty. It includes giveaways to those who are in the country illegally, the taxes, the vaccine mandates and penalties, all of that that we remain opposed to and we are going to fight tooth and nail with the moderate Democrats to

Fox News' Dana Perino Remembers Colin Powell

"Dana perino, of course, served under George W Bush, new Colin Powell, shed the following on Fox News. But yes, I've long admired him. I remember all edge during the Gulf War. What this man is very impressive. And then the fact that I actually got to meet him and work with him, work under him, really, as the Secretary of State, it is just remarkable as ainsley as you were reading the statement and talking about his life in the previous segment in the previous interview. You realize that this man was such a man of consequence. And a consummate public servant, serving all of those years. And I was surprised to read. He was 84. Because in many ways, to me, he was ageless. In addition to all of the amazing work that he did as a military leader, one thing that people might not remember is he started an organization called America's promise. And that really encouraged civic engagement and volunteer work. And there was a little red wagon logo, and I'm a good friend as a race sale who had worked for president George H. W. Bush, then worked in his office and correspondence. And she would tell me such amazing stories about him. And then fast forward. I remember as a deputy press secretary standing in the back of the room, the east room one day and there was a, I believe it was Karzai, who achman Karzai from Afghanistan was giving a speech. And I was standing in the back of the room and Colin Powell just happened to be next to me. And I remember being very impressed by augment caramelized speech. And I said something to Colin Powell I said, wow. He is a very impressive. And Colin Powell gave me advice that I've lived with ever since, and he said, Dana, just beware of people who might be want to be dictators who speak very good English. And that was so interesting. But if you think about all the leaders that we've seen, come up through the ranks that America likes to support and then unfortunately turns out to be somebody that you question in the end. I would also say that he was a great stature. The way that he conducted himself, I really commend his books to people out there, young people who are looking to learn about leadership. He really was a consummate professional. Dana perino, who served in the Bush administration, reflected on the passing of general Colin

The Biden Debacle Continues

"The biden debacle continues in afghanistan. The withdrawal is a disaster. The biden administrations exit has been a catastrophe. Goof-balls on the left are doing. Now they're pivoting to trying to say well the it's still a big airlift. We're getting a lot of people out of their senator mitch. Mcconnell with dana perino and bill hemmer yesterday on fox news as this is one of the greatest foreign policy disasters in american history. I think it's important to remember where we were a few months ago before the president's reckless decision to leave we only had twenty five hundred troops there. We had lots of single american Personnel military personnel in a year. The taliban barbarians were not in charge of the country. We were keeping the lid on an al qaeda was not there so the decision to pull out was gargantuan mistake in a opinion having made that decision You'd have to conclude these guys an organized a two car funeral. I mean here's where we are. The president needs to forget about the august thirty first deadline. We need to send in enough american personnel military personnel to rescue our people and by the way they're more american soldiers there now than before. The president made the decision to leave. Wow it's it's unbelievable. Kaley mcenaney pointed something out to jesse waters a theme. That i keep coming back to. We wouldn't be seeing this under the trump administration. We're eight months into a biden president. Jesse wrap your head around that we still have three years and four months left look when president trump was president. You didn't see crisis after crisis. You just didn't see it. I shudder to think about what it would have been. Like under joe biden. We've seen afghanistan blow up crime ministries. You named it all. What would have been like. Because i was in the white house when it was pretty scary times. We weren't sure if we'd have enough ventilators but we were able to produce it with the private sector. I watched president trump overseeing vaccine in record time produce. Four working therapeutics. Do you think joe biden could have done any of that. The answer is absolutely not. "And their entire efforts are focused on, uh, discrediting conservative media. And yesterday. I think they stepped in it big time. Yesterday. Media matters for America, which is another bit of that liberal irony. Yeah, media matters for America. You don't, uh, they posted a story a person named lists. Power. And I don't know if that's actually the real name of the person less power posted the story on Twitter with a video that said Fox. Fox has responded to the FDA is full approval of the Pfizer vaccine by asking if it was rushed. Now, that's kind of interesting. That's kind of trying to make Fox News look like they were. Vaccine deniers are vaccine Doubters. And frankly, nothing is further from the truth. Removing context from something, Dana Perino said. And this happened just really right after the announcement. The announcement happened during this program yesterday when the FDA came out and said there's full approval for the Pfizer vaccine. Which is huge news because it usually takes almost a decade to get something like this through the system, and it was done in less than two years because, yes, frankly, Donald Trump So here is the post. That list power put up on the media America's Twitter account, and she's verified. She's one of those blue checkmark people, so she is considered to be legitimate and important. Even when she's spreading misinformation, and the clip has gotten over a million views in less than 24 hours over a million views. She said. There's ever reported earlier. Fox responded to the FDA approval and quote Dana Perino quote FDA just giving full approval to fighters COVID vaccine. It's the first vaccine to get that full approval. And in record time, too. That has critics asking if it the process was rushed. Was it so it makes Dana Printers sound like she's questioning it. Here's the actual clip they posted, which lacks complete honesty and context. This is on the media matters. Twitter account yesterday. And here you go. Piss alert for you. Now the FDA just giving full approval to fighters Covid vaccine. It's the first vaccine to get that full approval and in record time, too, that has critics asking if the process was rushed wasn't well. Cancel it for you. Now. The FDA So they asked was the process rushed 12 2nd clip. Now there's something kind of important that happened after that, 12 seconds. Many people saw this, many people pointed out, Arthur Schwartz, who is also a blue, Checkmark said, speaking of promoting misinformation, a media matters hack Less power one deceptively at its sustainable Reno clip, claiming she's attacking the FDA vaccine approval. She's lying. The full clip show stainless guest saying Americans should feel more confident about taking the vaccine. So that 12 2nd clip cuts off and well, you should know what actually happened. Here it is. Fox News for you. Now, the FDA just giving full approval to fighters covid vaccine. It's the first vaccine to get that full approval and in record time, too, that has critics asking if the process was rushed wasn't well, let's bring in. Admiral Brett Sharar, former health and human services assistant secretary. And, of course he was our testings are so tell us a little bit, sir about what this moment means to get full approval. Well, this is a very big moment in operation Warp speed history and the history of our vaccines. Our fight against the pandemic. Prior to this, we had emergency use authorization. What That really meant is that the public health benefits outweighed the known and potential harms. So if you just go with the 1st 20 seconds of this guy, he sounds like he's all in right. He's even more supportive. Listen. Says today as we know the benefits we know the harms and this vaccine is safe and effective, and every confidence can be given to that. Americans should feel very good, even better than they did yesterday about getting the vaccine, so right there. Former health and human services secretary, saying You should be more confident than you were yesterday. Kind of absolutely the other direction of what media matters for America is trying to do in smearing now, why is Why is this account not have some sort of comment on it? Why haven't the Twitter overlords stepped in and said less power? You just violated our principles and she should be in a Twitter time out. It's now Twitter banished because this is a total manipulation without context of something, Dana Perino has said One of the more fair people in the media if you follow her, you know what I'm talking about Tuesday, actually. The most evenhanded person you'll ever see on Twitter. That we should call her Saint Perino. She's so honest. But this is just another example of the liberal media going whole hog to try and destroy a network. That's what they're all about. That's what they're all about. All right, uh, I'm going to step aside and come back and take some of your calls. Triple 86309 65 88863096 to 5. It's Michael Palka in for Chris Plante on.

"Well, the most quote unquote woke person on that panel is Joy Behar, right? Professional victim, Joy Behar, and she was talking about the story that there's an NFL player. That announced yesterday that he is gay Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib. He announced that he was gay, and he becomes the first active NFL player. To come out as gay. A couple other guys have came out after their careers. And if you remember Michael Sam never made the the opening day roster, so he was never on an active roster. Really? So the Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib is this guy that's been in the league comes out on. Social media says that he's gay. So Joy Behar Says this today. Las Vegas. Okay, spread, you know, Anna and after after they said, penetration in the end zone, they lost me. So funny. Is this a sign that this A little awkward pause there at the end. Wow, She's yucking it up, makes the penetration joke because the guy comes out as gay whatever. It's a cheap shot. But again, I'm looking for some consistency. "Lessons. Have you learned being in a space. Which is predominantly male whether it is at the white house or in the news What have you learned as a woman and strengths. Have you tapped into to lead. So it's interesting. I was thinking about like my white house days. We at least in the west wing will is very female dominated at least for us for for a lot of it but there were certainly times when i go to the meetings especially in the situation room where i might be the only woman there. Condoleeza rice was a wonderful mentor of mine. I remember one time being in the situation room and one of the generals he said we have a communications problem in baghdad. And condie and i met is she was across the table from me and she nodded just subtly towards me and i knew she was saying better speak up. Here's your shot and you can do this. I'm here to help you because it's kind of intimidated. Talk to a four star general. I basically said we have a communications problem in our in baghdad. No we have a fact problem in baghdad. We fix the facts the communications. We'll get fixed as well. And i have to say that if you do it once and you do it in a way that you feel is dignified and gracious but you make your point and you do it with facts on your side and you come very prepared in the room. He agreed with me. And i never thought that was going to happen. And when we left the situation when we were walking out and condie and are walking out of the generals were behind us and we turned a corner. She nudge me with her elbow. She's proud of you. And i think one of the things that we have to do as women who care about other young women coming up through the workplaces is really imperative that we pass on how to get that start. I find if you give people a little bit of a start and a little bit of encouragement that after a while it's like you can take the training wheels off and and they're off on their own. I'm very proud of some of the young women. I see that used to work for me at the white house or there were here at fox news and i see now that they're this one young woman she's now in the executive suite at one of big publicly traded company and five six years ago. She never would have thought that was possible as she is such a valued employee at this company. And it's thrilling for me. So i think that the more you offer mentoring and advice and really invest in people. It comes back to help you as well. Yeah i feel like. I'm part of this culture but i feel like it's happening mostly by younger and younger women. This cancel culture. You know whether it's political divide. Which i feel like has never been greater or you know you did one thing wrong or whatever. We've seen it where its rightful to be cancelled. Obviously if you know someone has done horrific things but you know. I was talking with a friend in. She has a list of over. Ninety women leaders. Ceos that have been canceled whereas men. Let's just say have Made mistakes they get back up they go back out there and the sad part about all these women. These ninety women that have been canceled just in the last two years is that they were all cancelled by other women. So do you have any thoughts around. How young people can sort of get rid of that culture of like okay. You made one mistake. You're you're done..

"I remember at the time Towards the end. I was there. Let's see i started in right after nine eleven At the justice department and worked my way up into the white house in two thousand three and four and in the end of the press office for the second term and i would always get asked by people. How do you stay so calm. And part of that was that i would always want to appear to be calm and in control and incharge but one of the things i wrote about in my first book. Was that physically. I was deteriorating just for a couple of examples. People might not even remember this but back then when the blackberries were first around and you had that keyboard and you use it with your thumbs and it was a new motion for a lot of us in my at one point towards the last six months of the administration. I had a complete numbness from my elbow through my thumb on my right arm. I developed a ringing in my ear in my right ear. It was constant to the point. Where i would look at my husband sometimes and say can you hear that and nobody could hear but i heard it constantly evolving. When i was sleeping would ring. I had very hard time sleeping. I was basically drinking caffeine all day long. I didn't eat much at all. I look back and think. Wow that did not look healthy. And i went to the doctor a at the white house. That's available to you as a staff and he said i promise you that all of this goes away in about six months after the administration ends and it was all he. He thought it was stress related. The the numbness in my arm did go away the ability to get to sleep. That took a while longer. The ringing in my ear lasted for a good eighteen months later. And i look back on. That and i realized did not take good care of myself so while everyone thought that i was calm and handled everything so well and that might transition out of the white house was so graceful. I did not take care of myself. I do take much better care of myself now. And i encourage people to do everything that they can because you are in charge of your health. Yeah nobody else can do that for you. I wish i had done a better job. Then that said. I would've changed a thing. I i love the love. The opportunity think one thing that was also very difficult is that was at the height of the war and when the war on terror felt very much more present so that that was very difficult. But i'll tell you one thing that my husband. And i did after the white house that i think helped what i say. Return perspective with a capital p to my life and that that in the afternoon of inauguration day my husband and i flew ambient ron a six week trip and we spent two weeks on a vacation. Safari type Even visiting wine country in south africa. And then we spent two weeks volunteering together at a pet farsight and that was the hiv aids program that president bush had put in place. And we did that every day for two weeks and i worked in the ward at the hospice in.

"I thought about this perspective or what about another point of view etc and there was one point when i was on marine one with president bush and one of the skills i have. I'm very good. refer or. you're sure you've talked about managing up. I could explain something to a higher up. And in this case the president very succinctly with all the information and without tilting at one way or the other because as press secretary union everybody in the white house to trust that you're going to give them a fair shot. When you take something to the president. And i i was briefing. The president and i flashed back to that time with my dad at the dining room table. And i'm so grateful that i had that experience because it really one fueled my love of news but also gave me that opportunity to find a way to express myself and my opinions in front of a dominant male figure in my life in that case with my father and then you fast forward. It was the president. The other thing i would point out is We had a little backyard. And i had swing. Said and i was in gymnastics as a kid and my dad had built me a balance beam that i had outside and on sunday nights when it was nice outside they would want us to go out and play before dinner but i was so afraid that i was going to miss sixty minutes and those are the days before even vcr. So you couldn't record it. That i wouldn't wanna go play outside so my mom and dad would set the alarm on the stove. Top for five minutes to six so that when i heard the that alarm go off i could then russian and get my seat so i wouldn't miss sixty minutes. That sounds so nerdy. But that's how i was. I just love it. Your dad asked that byu. I feel like as a mom i i lose my bandwidth in trying to instill in my children. What was instilled in me. And then i read an article about like the The pity of young people aspiring to just be famous on instagram. And i'm like how do how do i do that. So i might be taking that lesson in tasking my eldest with at least reading an article in coming to dinner with a russian. Because i think it's a great idea. Yeah for sure. I think one of the things that people are longing for now at an kovin has kind of helped people have a little bit more family time than maybe they had before. Of course sometimes. That's not always good because kids aren't in school or in their sports but that conversation around the dinner table where you can freely express your ideas and it really does help shape your abilities but also especially for women. It's important because the number one fear of all humans is public speaking and you learn that from a very young age and so the more you can get comfortable arguing persuasively and civilly with your family. The better you're going to do in the future when you try to persuade somebody maybe the corporate board or a client or even constituents or voters in the future yeah agreed. I think that practiced goes well for negotiating through any uncomfortable circumstances. So it's a for sure. Great i think but having two brothers taught me that very quickly that and a lot of other things yes. Most people feel like their jobs. Come with a lot of pressure. May you had probably extra pressure being that you were working with the president of the united states. How did you deal with that pressure. And how did you remain strong or or maybe not. Maybe you cried in your pillow at night. But i'd love to hear how what what you used. It's interesting looking back..

Dana Perino Talks About Her Book, Everything Will Be Okay

"Data perino back on dose of leadership. Welcome back have you ever had some come back. I have. I've had arse you you you're up there. This is your third visit and eight years old came on very early. I remember i mean you look at what you've built since your i had the idea to start this is it's been amazing and i don't want to thank you. You've been so supportive of the show. You've given me great mentoring advice a few times that i've asked and i've been afraid to ask because i know you're so busy but you've always answered and gave me such great advice and so i appreciate you coming back on the show. I love the book. Everything will be okay. One thing that stood out. I think it was our last conversation a few years ago and i have four four daughters and you said something that resonate with me pass advice along to each of my daughter's along the way my oldest is twenty four twenty one eighteen and sixteen. Wow dad but you said something that i thought was was great and it was some of the fact. I'm paraphrasing you. Got this in the book about when oportunities present themselves. You could be in jacksonville. Florida at your hometown or wherever and a job comes available. 'em for new york or billings montana or someone alaska is going there and you just go take it and i thought that was. I think that's the best advice you could do. Is just take that because those leads to other opportunities right. I'm paraphrasing but That stuck with me and it's in it's in the book. I just think it's great advice. I use fort wayne indiana example. Because you know. I had experience with somebody who had was in. Denver had an opportunity to get promoted. But the job would mean leaving denver and moving to fort wayne indiana and they turned it down and career kind stalled out In front of frustrated and upset about that and always wondered you. Know what if i had taken that chance and if you take any person that you admire i don't care anyone and you ask them. What were the steps that lead you to where you are today. There's always something that happened in their life. That was as real detour something. They didn't plan something that just seemed to come along. And i thought well i guess i'll try that It doesn't mean that you're always going to have to live where that new job is your first of all you might like it And also really with technology today. There's no excuse. But the other thing i would say is that we are in a very competitive job market. And we're going to be like your daughters at that age group is going to be globally competitive and so that means you have to be prepared to take opportunities at now. That doesn't mean you also can't turn things down sure that those those things come on it happened to me too. I write about how i was planning to be in journalism while. I'm jearl as of now but people don't know i started there and then i had this meandering path and i'm back to. Where do we wanted to do all along. But i would not have the job. I have today if i hadn't done all those other things. There would be no reason for me to have this job as co anchor of america's newsroom and on the five and she has to write a book for that somebody my ornery know. Exactly right i think back to approaching five hundred conversations on the show. I can't tell you how many times i've asked a question like did. Did you picture yourself doing this. And they're like absolutely not. I had no idea. But charles krauthammer force late mills loved him so he used to be asked a lot by journalism students. How can i become a syndicated columnist. And he used to say well. I you go to medical school. And his point was that he never body but ended up being a syndicated columnist as a conservative But that's where his path led him after medical school becoming a a p getting his. Md excuse me in psychiatry and then moving on to work in public policy and then of course in journalism.

"That's how you create chaos and anarchy. And then here's the old I was on the Fox News Channel last Friday on the Dana Perino program with a gun and Chris Hahn. He is a Democrat, and he declared that President Trump is a threat to the Republic. That's what he declared A and Dana print and I both sort of gas that the really civil war rhetoric of today's Democrats. They're very casual about it. On DH Bernie standards throughout last night. This president is not just the threat to our democracy, but by rejecting science, he has put our lives and health in jeopardy. Our lives and the health in a jumper. I really I mean, this is you have been in the United States for a long time. Where did you learn to speak? You got some kind of an impediment. Did you know that Kamala hurries. Dated Willie Brown. We all know that everybody knows that The news media is very upset. If you bring this up that she early in her career dated Willie Brown, the very powerful Democrat mayor of San Francisco, then speaker of the California Assembly, 16 minutes did glowing profiles on him forever. All those days. Very wealthy men. Somehow he got very wealthy on this on this government salary. And come on. Camilla. Lotteries also dated talk show host Montel Williams. Did you notice that she dated Montel Williams? The news media doesn't cover anything when it comes with a cover up. Everything. So sure, there's the Willie Brown thing, which, according to reports, got her political career going having sex with a powerful Democrat Willy Brown for fairly sustained period of time, I guess. And she did it. Montel Williams have met Montel Williams a couple times actually, like Montel. He smokes dope all day long. He smokes pot all day long. He's a very interesting case. Interesting Childhood Naval Academy. Fascinating story, his path and I think he has an M s multiple sclerosis and a smoked pot. He says. Okay, And was she smoking dope with the men? Because that could be Could be an interesting thing to do, Bernie. Let's get back to Bernie because it is. And here he is saying that what just a few years ago would have been considered to be radical fringe. Left wing lunacy is now thanks to him, the very much mainstream Democrat Party thinking. And they are really again. I grew up in a Democrat household, and I still have a lot of Democrat friends believe it or not. They have to be very open minded for Democrats to associate with someone like me, of course, because I'm pro American and have common sense. And I know what my gender is and things like that. Make it difficult. Tio have friends when you're a Democrat. You know what your gender is? Yes, but I always have on DH. You're not even questioning? No, no, I'm okay. I'm fine with that. But here's Bernie, saying that the party has gone completely mad. Let me take this opportunity to say a word to the millions of people who supported my campaign, but our movement continues. That is getting stronger every day. Many of the ideas we fought for just a few years ago were considered radical..

Well let me go way back when I I was in college and I thought I wanted to go into media back then if you wanted to get into TV you had to start in radio and I didn't want to have to do my radio experience after right graduated so I got a job part time job as a country music. Dj working overnight and Pueblo Colorado and I ah I didn't really I had grown up in the West but I had really listen to country music when I was a teenager I didn't really do that so I was completely out of it I I I introduced the first night a song by Tracy Lawrence and I said and here she is with their new Song Tracy Lawrence and then of course raises Lawrence's a man uh-huh tricky. I we have to do so fast forward and during the years at the White House. I don't think I listen to any music back at all. I didn't even have an IPOD when we left. That was the technology at the time I had nothing I listen to. NPR or whatever else was happening rush limbaugh or something so Kakitumba on the news and so when I left the White House or when we all left the White House I got an ipod I guess it was and I used to travel back and forth to to New York a lot and I just started downloading country music and Dirk Bentley Song Come. A little closer was out at the time China so that's how we became a fan. Would you like to sing a little bit of but I do have the worst voice but the other thing you're talking about is I don't I'm blessed with having lots of ideas and not a lot of time to execute however so in two thousand sixteen the five went on a bus trip to go conventions. RNC Indian say and at one point in the back of the bus Greg Gut failed and I were sitting there and he was making me laugh so hard because he was just making up nonsense country songs about the five about Fox News about everything and he just had me giggling so much and I said we should should go to Nashville and record a song about the five and record it with a real recording artists and then release it for charity so three years later it came true. We have a wonderful executive producer of the five called Megan Albano. She figured it out we teamed up John Rich from big and rich who is a wonderful person big fan of forty three's as well and we went to Nashville and in one take he's saying the song that we sang the backup part. It's called Oh shut up about politics and it's not about shutting any particular person up. It was just about how politics has entered into everything sports music music theater technology. Everything's just too much and so we have a song called shut up about politics. We released it and within two hours it was number one on the country charts and then and that whole weekend it was number one in the world bigger than Lady Gaga Justin Bieber it was astounding. It's amazing it was amazing and all the proceeds go to folds of honor so we're pretty proud of it. Ninety nine cents you can download it on full. Honor does great work. We've done incredible work. We're familiar with there were pretty well and they're just such great such a great organization. That was pretty fun fun. I have a question for you off of that. Though I mean you're right politics is in absolutely everything you cannot get away from it and we talk about that a lot too. I mean even when you're going through Instagram instagram stories. It's just permeates every bit of it. It's in your life obviously multiple times a day. How do you get away from politics and focus on the thing? I feel a little a lot better than I did even from a few years ago because I've really embodied this idea that politics is what I do. It is not who I am and I have carved off my weekends and my evenings when I'm not working but but I don't go to dinner to talk about politics with people unless I agree with them now. That's GonNa sound like Oh that's not very fair and balanced view but I argue all day long and so in my personal life I pretty much. Don't I have a rule that I wrote about in the in the Jasper book which is no politics at the dog park. You're that's a safe place for me and if and even people that WanNa talk to me about politics at the Dog Park Mike Sorry I don't talk politics at the dog park. I have a policy and then laugh about it and they move on and I also carry a lot less about social media than I did. In Two thousand sixteen. I was really attacked by the Russians. Even though I didn't know as Russians at the time I remember actually coming here to the Bush Center right before the two thousand sixteen election. I can't remember what I was doing and AH chance to see President Bush and he's how you doing and I told him I had the worst professional summer of my life you know being attack and I was really kind of in the fetal position under my desk and even like my husband would say how can I help you. There's there's nothing you can do and it gave me a big appreciation for what parents are going through when their children are consumed assumed with their phone because you don't know what's being said and it's so demoralizing I was a grown woman. I've been the White House press secretary. How could this affect me so much and and I remember President Bush saying? Why didn't you call me like a really imagine if I had called President Bush and said Sir people are being really mean to me on twitter he would have said get off twitter on it solved this one's easy and actually it is easy so once you step away from from it or somebody gave me a tip to only have mentioned from people that you follow and Eric Schmidt of Google actually pulled me aside at one point in two thousand seventeen as I was explaining what it was like to be one of the people that was targeted by these Russian boots but I didn't know they were rushing at the time I just said it's overwhelming and he pulled me aside Dana? These are not real people and you explain to me how the whole system worked in Saint Petersburg and I don't know that just gave me an ability to say it doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter no so I it's weird to say that as much as politics permeating everything for me. It's probably less a part of my life than in the previous elections that I've covered for Fox. Was it similar to how you regrouped. After you left the White House taking a breath stepping away from it no not really I mean I remember the day that we'd left Andrews Air Force Base and Peter and I left to go on the trip to Africa. I leaned my head back against is the seat and I said nothing I do for the rest of my life will ever be that important or that hard and it's really true when I make a comment now. I'm not gotTA START A war. I also have a great appreciation for what public servants go through and I want to support deport them. No matter what party they're from if you're willing to put your self out there and run for office and try to do the right thing I try to be supportive. Okay talk to us about mercyships touch. You talked about a little bit when you left the West so interesting about mercy ships. There's actually a Bush connection there too okay so obviously President Bush and Mrs Bush were amazing leaders. When it came to Africa I I got to go to Africa with them? In February of two thousand eight and in typical forty-three fashion we did five countries in seven days. I got my first migraine. I couldn't even go to the Kigali event because I had to stay on the plane and two liters of fluid into my arm and so I didn't get to go to the and and I've been sad about not making it to Rwanda ever since given the statistics about pep far so many times at the podium that I thought I understood Africa and then I was just totally blown away when I went there and I came back and I said Peter we need to go for six months after the White House and he said how about six weeks so we did six weeks compromise and yeah so we did a pet farsight that's on in Fishhook South Africa and Peter and I just had this confusing time and that did help us reset our priorities and our hearts and to reconnect as a couple as well because we're so blessed here in America and you can get caught up in what about me. What am I gonNa do to the White House and just being able to have a bigger world view? After I left was great great fast forward mercy ships asked me through my speakers bureau if I would come to Dallas and moderate a conversation between the president and Mrs Bush in front of their dinner group so I said well sure that sounds great so peter and I were coming down here now prior to that I had join the one campaigns women advisory board and I had gone to several countries with them. I had also been on the Broadcasting Board of Governors under President Obama and I'd gone to Africa on behalf of of that organization as well trying to increase the amount of content of for women in particular and Africa because we found that men will definitely listen to the radio for news in sports but women will listen if it's about health and their kids so anyway it's just little bit of an effort to do that so at the dinner right before the Q. One eight with the president and Mrs Bush. I'm sitting there and somebody says well. Why did you get interested in Africa so I'm telling him than soul story that I'm telling you and then I I said just a few months ago I got to go to Sierra Leone and I went to this place called the Aberdeen Clinic and it was started by Scottish heiress us and it's so amazing they were doing fistula surgeries there and the day I was there? They were teaching the women there how to count to ten and the lady next to me said Oh she's not a Scottish heiress. Her name is Ann Gloag and she's sitting right behind you. This is a self made businesswoman in Scotland who was a burn unit nurse for twenty years but then she and her brothers started a bussing service in the UK when Margaret Thatcher deregulated the transportation sector and they became very successful and as the company expanded she took Africa and and when she got there she said this will never do so she started doing all of this philanthropy there and that's how I ended up talking to her and I said to Peter we have to go see mercy mercy ships for ourselves so that's how we got involved and it's a surgical hospital ship they do the West Coast of Africa that night they were kicking off a capital campaign for a brand new ship because they I usually retrofit and old ship and

Measles: New York City outbreak is over, officials say

"New York city's largest measles outbreak has now officially ended they said they've had they are declared an end. measles outbreak. warning to JTA dot org. or the Jewish telegraphic agency the measles outbreak that was concentrated in orthodox Jewish neighborhoods in New York City is considered over. there's been no new infections over the last two incubation periods signaling the end of the outbreak this means that the emergency order mandating vaccines will be lifted the order required residents of those neighborhoods to be vaccinated or pay fines of up to a thousand dollars. York City health commissioner of Sirius Barbeau called a new Yorkers to continue to have their children immunized this is Dana Perino vaccines is the best way to protect people's apparently in the separate started last October and it was concentrated originally in the orthodox neighborhoods in Brooklyn they think what happened is in unvaccinated kid got the disease from Israel because it was unvaccinated came back and then sent to the others. there were six hundred fifty four cases are reported up to Tuesday which is the most in thirty years again we don't know how many of those cases were in people who were vaccinated. in June New York state lawmakers revoke the religious and personal beliefs exemption for vaccines are vaccinated students have fourteen days for the service call to prove they received the first dose of each immunization in fact I think what happened is they were going to be fine. a thousand dollars if they didn't get vaccinated yeah. so you know this is great news. if the measles outbreak is over I mean you know we do have to contain it we do have to vaccinate and we got some education out of this the most important piece of education we got out of this is the two pieces was one is unvaccinated individuals could start outbreaks okay in places where diseases are predicated but be. vaccination may not always confirm the immunity we think it is and we always need to re evaluate the boosters need to be done. now those of the take home unfortunately that's not the take home message the take home message is all about the anti Baxter's and eat a brow beating the odds have answers but I think a very big take a message of this also is just because you're vaccinated against something doesn't mean you're a hundred percent

Bob Woodward's 'Fear' sold 750,000 copies by the close of its first day

"Show. Bob Woodward book on the Trump administration is the fastest selling book in years impact. The publisher of the book says that they're preorder numbers seven hundred and fifty thousand copies broke Simon and Shuster is all time preorder sales record for the first day. Now. Can't argue with success co there's an appetite for this book because you know, there's a lot of people who just want to consume negative information about the Trump administration. It validates their worst thoughts about it. But it is getting a little bit of scrutiny right now. A lot of people are stepping up and saying, listen, here's my biggest argument about it. Everything that is in Bob Woodward's book by definition because they are all non animus quotes. They cannot be proven. Right. I mean, they can be. But Bob Woodford is willfully choosing not to prove them. See the only way he can prove them as if he out the so-called anonymous sources, and he won't do that. And so it is up to us to just sort of trust him. Right. But of course, this is the same guy who claims that he had a deathbed can confession by former director Casey during the Reagan administration, and that's kind of dubious, isn't it? I mean, there's a lot of things that are dubious NS, but he even said yesterday to Brian Stelter? I think it was or somebody on MNO's Chris Hayes on MSNBC that one of his anonymous sources who has denied saying the things that Bob Woodward claims he said called him, privately and said your book is a thousand percent correct Bob Woodward says he just can't tell us who that
