"Of the world. We had retail stores. We had partners who had franchise retail stores. We have department stores that we sold two. We had small specialty both takes. We sold him all over the world and you know who comes to the runway shows. And you know who definitely would show up Sunday and they relax close. You know who would be there from every corner of the world, the fashion press and when you're staging that $2 Million.15 minute exercise The number. One reason is the fashion press because they come in. They look at the collections. David REVIEW the collections and every radio station, TV station newspaper and magazine throughout the globe would cover you write about you. And present your ideas and for the next season Through their magazines. Through their online networks. And threw everything they could to communicate in this day of social media. Was an amazing an amazing experience, and it was amazing to watch and over the course of the next few months we would compile all the articles. We look at all the coverage. We'll make sure that people covered us properly. Now I have to tell you when you do a show you have your fingers cost. There's never been a show. I walked into where I was comfortable. That I believe made sense. It was always too too out there for me for one of a better word. Businesses are made money on their basics. Take a moment to say this, you look at Ralph Lauren. Look at all the marketing all the advertising all the brilliant things they do to promote the brand, but what they really wanted more than anything else is to make money. This is all about making money. And where would Ralph Lauren B with all his collections and black tie and dresses and fragrances and handbags and shoes, watches, jewelry, all the most beautiful people in the world? All those things going on without basic polo shirts? Nowhere. You make money and having basic items. You put the Ralph Lauren polo shirt in your store. If your mace should put it in and tell colors, and every time you sell one, you bring one out from the back room to sell more. When you run low on white, you call Ralph Lauren your email Ralph Lauren. However, it is they transact business. It's usually done. Unilaterally without a phone call. It's automatic. You sell six pieces of white. It comes back in and that replenishment and the constant selling in those basic items is what drives everyone's business. Everyone makes money on basics. Doesn't matter what brand you are or what industry you're in. You have to sell your basic items and back to the runway show. That's the one thing we would never show used to drive me crazy. What did you want them to come out in T shirts? Well, if we had polish shirts or T shirts thinking, come out with him in 10 colors to make it look exciting. If I was doing venues, and and there was men show I'd have women coming out with high heels, shoes and beautiful leggings, wearing venues and dress shirts. Even though women don't wear them. I mean I would try and do but none of my ideas ever broke through. And the truth be known. They should, because I know nothing about staging runway shows and what the press look for. Unfortunately, Donna, Karen and all her people did, and we were incredible and running those runway shows and one of the other great things about runway shows, which I enjoyed it. Calvin Klein and I certainly enjoyed at Donna. Karen. I went to Vuitton show. I went to Marc Jacobs. I went to a lot of them. I was part of the group. But with the after parties The after parties, which generally incredible Donna Karen would throw an after party after her show on Monday night. In her wraparound terrorists, Beautiful apartment on Central Park West and invite the Who's who of New York celebrities, notables and I go there as the CEO now during the day when I'm at these runway shows, I'm the man. I feel like I do talk about important I used to be important. When you're shaking hands CEO When you're representing a company, there's no greater feeling until you go to Donna's afterparty. See, Donna and I had a love hate relationship. On the surface. We were partners. Her job was to create My job was to make money and as much as I respected her And as much as I hoped she respected me. When it really came down to it. It's hard to like each other. I only had one goal in mind. I was entrusted to make money for LVMH. By the time I showed up at LV image to run the Donna Karen company, forget all my other titles. See of LVMH Change. I was a member of the Executive committee and the board. They would have thrown anything at me, including money to make Donna Karan Profitable. They bought the company for over $600 million. They had it for six years. By the time I showed up, three CEOs never made a penny and I was determined to do it for them, by the way. In the nine years I was there. We always made money record your record your record. It was extraordinary run. They were happy. I was happy the only one who might not have been happy with Donna because she had other goals in mind. Shadow charitable institution that occupied most of her time was called Urban Zen. That's where her focus was. She did her job for us. It was still the company that bears her name. But the idea of being profitable and as I talk to you about basics before Was there to make sure we spent money wisely. I don't mind spending money. I just hate wasting it. And those conversations often put us at odds and we had a love hate relationship. Let's call it that. As I said, I'd like to believe she respected me. I know I respected her. But it wasn't easy. But I tell you what held the image respect to me because I brought him the profits. I said I would Having said that I would go to Dana's party and there I would walk in as CEO and I got ignored. Nobody cared who I was. Nobody cared that I was there. Donna certainly would give me an eyebrow up when I would walk in. She never once introduced me to a single person in her house ever. I'd walk in. I might be standing next to her. I walked in and shake her hand..

"Dot com slash health. Pass jennifer aniston went on the howard stern show and you know how to share talking about the friends reunion. Talk about being buddies with brad pitt talking about that. David schwimmer reveal but there was one bit that everyone has focused on. Because it's a mystery and everybody loves a mystery. She told our stern that there was a male guest star on the show at one point. Who just they all felt like he was. He felt he was too above doing friends and wasn't into being on the show She wouldn't reveal who was but she admitted that it was a man who seemingly didn't want to be on his sitcom and it's in detailed one example of their strange behavior when they weren't happy with how the network producers would laugh during a network run through. This person was like listen to them just laughing at their own jokes so stupid. Not even funny. It was just like what are you doing here your attitude. This is not what we're all about She's wasn't thrilled about the energy. The actor brought with him at the time and she was such a wonderful place to work. And you're coming into our home and shitting on it. She did confirm that it wasn't tom. Selleck or sean penn and even revealed that the guests are in question later. Apologized that the funny thing is that male did apologize about their behavior years later he just said i was just so nervous to be honest. I wasn't on my best behavior. She didn't say who it was. My money's on ben stiller. I also think. Ben stiller. But the thing is about ben stiller though. Jennifer aniston has done movies like ryan. Yeah like she wanted to throw. I don't think she would throw him under the bus like that. I've actually heard about them. Talk about their friendship house. Okay so i don't think. George clooney. I i i have a feeling. It's not like a huge name. But i think you'd have to be named to be that much of a diff- no i don't i don't i think that's not well. No because i think it kind of has to be somebody who's doing movies and such i want to throw on. Yes but i just. I don't know jennifer aniston would necessarily at this point her life. Tell the story about like a massive. Who's someone who's a massive bubis called. When i was just gonna say alec baldwin i could see michael rapaport. John stamos no. He's gone for house. No she said it wasn't it wasn't japan and it wasn't tom selleck. Mike could have been michael rapa. Bor- it could have been michael rapaport. Although our no multiple episode stint and soda bruce willis. i feel like if you had multiple episodes. There's no way that you could have been that much of a dick because so you think that someone who was on. Like one episode bruce willis. Good guess. I think it was somebody who was on one. Go any br. I danny devito. I think bruce willis he was in multiple episodes so i feel like maybe not. I don't know i just. I was many up. She was in. China was charlie sheen. I think that it was somebody who wouldn't 'cause she made. It seem like they were they. Were just making it like some silly sitcom right. But i don't i i don't know i'm kind of interpreting. I don't know if it necessarily means the guy was a movie star coming to do a sitcom like the guy might just have a big enough ego and like still could not be huge actor and be like. I can't believe i'm doing sitcom like possibly we just have. There's really not always brown too many hints. Yeah it was. It was caused browse says a infants baby. You never know. Little ben acting up. Paul rudd i. It's not paul run. It can't believe. Paul rudd the same majority of howard stern pushback trying to get the name. I think so. I mean that's why she said it wasn't tom. Selleck or sean penn. You wouldn't say who was. She said it wasn't them. Tom selleck was on a lot of injury. A lot could have been like could have been hangs area How much about him. i don't i. I don't know i don't know much about him either. But maybe you never know. There's a lot of options thing of all seabees boyfriends. I think george clooney alec baldwin. I'm sorry i really don't believe george clooney out baldwin share i can see george clooney george. Clooney is above that. I know it's less that less. I don't think jennifer aniston would be telling the story about george clooney. Why not if. She's not given as they're just like all friends like i just feel like they're all in that circle they're not going to be going on howard stern and throwing one of them under the bus but she didn't throw him under the bus. I mean she damon but she didn't name anybody. I know i know but that person knows so. Maybe that's what she wanted like. No no one knows who had actually is. But i remembers. Yeah but why give that dig to that person when he also said that. They apologized later so so i couldn't beat george clooney I don't know are you george. Clooney's golic's i'm really not. I'm really george clooney swat i just feel like it's not george clooney. It could be anybody. We could sit here all day. We'll never know because she didn't give us the funding doesn't fucking matter it. Somebody that was on the show. Yeah there's the thing is far too many guests guest megastars to take it to try and even figure it out but it was a very besides that just interesting interview jennifer aniston just once again feels like the best whenever somebody goes on howard stern. It's an interesting interview. That is true in once again. Some of the lee shocking news khloe kardashian interest in thomson have baroque in up again. There's really like you know they're back there on their off their on their off. You would see filming the reunion. It kind of seemed like they were on making it work figuring it out the show ended. She's going to boston now here. We are june twenty twenty one and daily mail article pops up about tristen showing up at some parties house party. Not tanner's different party. From dana's party shows up at some house party where multiple witnesses identified tristen with three other women and one other guy and they went into a bedroom and they were in there for thirty minutes then he came out looking to shovels was was the description. And everybody's freaking out about it. They were like insi- d- witnesses of the party were. Everyone was feeling bad about chloe. And what's going on and once again. We thought we were in another cheating scandal but then the next day it came out that they actually have been broken up for a few weeks now and that probably came after the cheating situation that happened last month. I love how their reasoning is that he went into a room with three girls and a guy and came out looking to shovel. Yeah they could've been doing drops version. My first thought was drugs right. Like that doesn't mean they all went in and started banging each other they could be going into a bedroom and doing drugs. Yeah i kind of feel like sex is for. Saddam struck like i saw very funny me and that was writing is true. No literally i saw the. I saw me and that was the only year tristan thompson didn't cheat on her. She was because he was literally unable to leave the house like because there was a pandemic it was like every other year. He's been wild and out. Maybe he is addicted to sex. Who knows it could be a drug..

Let's move on time now for today's headlines. Ladies and gentlemen miss an trip and trip and here we go with the news. Republicans in the us senate on a test vote yesterday on legislation by democrats designed to strengthen voting rights on the federal level. The republicans successfully blocked it. The push was stronger. Voting rights by democrats as reaction to gop efforts in at least fourteen states to restrict access to the ballot box in the wake of the twenty twenty election which apparently they really haven't gotten over senate majority leader. Charles schumer says while the gop is really doing is tantamount to setting things up to steal future elections. There is no principle behind these laws not fraud not election integrity not security not better election administration blatant partisan electoral advantage and senate majok job. Manar senate majority leader mitch. Mcconnell the republican leader seize obviously things differently would shatter a decades-old understanding that campaign. Finance law should have a bipartisan referee. And turn the federal election commission into a part of the majority cudgel for democrats will and that is how he sees a democratic. Bill would expand access to mail in voting and change the way congressional districts are drawn among many other things. Okay the by the administration. Meaning that when it comes to the president's goal of having at least seventy percent of the us adult population at least partially vaccinated like madeira. At least the first shot by july fourth basically a close but no cigar. Well closing maybe a half a cigar. Mr biden used that seventy percent number to mark the country's turn to normalcy a however percentages are close and the country is pretty much reopening again returning to normal in many many places however there are some regional differences apparently when it comes to vaccination levels some northeastern states have well exceeded. The white house is goal while the rate of inoculations is low in southern states in connecticut. Lawsuit accuses bridgeport police chief rebecca garcia of retaliation against a black captain because he heads up the local guardians organization which represents black police officers. Captain lonnie blackwell says. He's been subjected to harassment ridicule unfavorable employment practices and other stuff because of his leadership role. He has complained about it. Nothing is done. The federal alike rights lawsuit has been filed against the city of bridgeport connecticut. And also that acting police. Chief rebecca garcia. Finally if you wanted to you wedding over now that the pandemic restrictions are being lifted. All over the place. You'd better hurry up because folks in the wedding industry say they are being swamped and Then the marriage goes together like a horse carriage in the month of june especially planners say they've already nailed del celebrations to twenty twenty three. Nobody asked me now. Back to the steve harvey morning show. You're listening to morning show. What is going on. The mayor of atlanta and the governor of georgia are going at each other over the crime spike in atlanta mayor. Kisha lance bottoms of blaming the city's crime spike on the gop lead early reopenings during the coronavirus pandemic. The mayor also blame the crime wave on lax gun laws. We all live in atlanta So let's just talk about this. What is going on i mean. Crime is up in atlanta for sure that is I don't understand the blame game. Well we need solutions. Yeah i think crime is high in atlanta. Thank crime is high in the united states view. Look at other countries man. This is one of the most violent countries on earth because when you look at the crime rate in other countries man. America is off the charts. Is something wrong with all of our policies but they're not gonna ever pay as gun law policy because the in our makes money selling goods and they're the largest contributed to the republican party is the nra and they control the purse strings of all the senators and they going to do what they tell them to do. So they're not going to change because they have the most money to donate to your campaign if you go against the second amendment they going to go against you period. They have to have to do that and at sea as long as nothing is happening to their children. Nothing is going to continue to happen to our children. it's period. It's the same thing with police brutality. Going to keep getting brutalized by the police and the police will freely keep blue brutalizing us and to they brutalize. Why child then you go see something happen as schooners little one white young ki- gets shot by two plumes on on. You will see the real uproar. What let let happen. Let them kill white girl unarmed. That sleeping in her bed and see what happened in his boy. Let me tell you something seeing what happened. Nobody does nissen until it happens to them. They ain't been listening for four hundred years. Y'all not they don't. It's so many people that don't care now. The beautiful thing about the pandemic to george floyd movement and black lives matter. Was that for the first time we have a lot of non african americans who are participating in black lives matter for the first time ever but we needed at the upper levels sweaty voting in passing bills and stuff and in senate. We don't stand a chance. They gave us a juneteenth thing. I'm telling you that to me wasn't about applaud. I'm sorry that's all that was for us 'cause denny will. We asked him to be treated equal. That happening yet. But you can have juneteenth. I coming up at thirty four minutes after the hour. We'll have more of the steve harvey morning show right after this. You're listening to dana party morning. Show all right. Steve harvey nation. We're telling you please just stay. Woke okay if you don't think you you need to vote. In all of these elections you are wrong. All right you are wrong. You need to vote in everyone. The general elections The midterm elections. We need you especially in the midterm elections. Here's one reason. Stacey abrams posted the republicans are scared of our power and she is right yesterday. The senate failed to advance the for the people. Act to the floor for debate and a fifty fifty vote. It fell short of the sixty needed to overcome a gop filibuster. All democratic senators voted to begin debate and the republican republicans unanimously voted to block it. What does this mean. It means that republicans didn't even want this to go to the floor. They didn't even want to discuss it. Okay it's not even up for discussion. As far as their concerns. We.

"Rotenburg Phillips on the line in Newark Ohio Philip. Thanks for your call. Yes Hi thanks. Very much My dear mother one of the things that she says she always wanted to do was to be a part of the Holland experience and then to actually see the tulips in that particular area. So but we went there early enough before the actual start of the tour to Be there for the last Queen's Day for Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and the installation of her son William Alexander and the hundred and twenty plus years. He would end up being the first king of the Netherlands. One hundred and twenty years of Queens. They haven't had a king for that long. I didn't realize that so they call it Queens Day or they're going to change the name to kings. Dana Party is just crazy. I've seen the days after the city's still cleaning up the crowds were huge but it it really started like that. We started hearing movements around six. Am and that people have been down the canals and all through the streets. But then while I was walking around there was numerous like come in party with us in those type of things but this one was very special because representatives from all over. The world actually ended up because She was advocating and then her son was taking over there. Were all kind of heads of state I think Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. Silla these big. Ap's these royalty from all over came there for the people in the street. It's just an excuse to paint your body's and drink a lot and just have a wild time isn't it yes yes and Filled with revelers very much around a city is the city is generally like a festival on that just over the top. What days Queens Day do you remember April twenty eighth or ninth so end of April? Show if you WANNA. It's just a great time to be in Amsterdam and in the future After one hundred twenty years of Queens days I guess it's going to be King's Day. Yes unfortunately my mother has spent her demise and so but It was one of the last major trips that we were able to take with one another. I'm one of her. Four sons arm took advantage very man Philip. Thanks for your call. What a great story. And I'm glad you're able to go to Queens Day with your mom. Thank you bye-bye tell us about your travel memories and the trip that you'll never forget. Write us at radio at Rick. Steves DOT COM? Pat Listens to travel with Rick Steves in Sausalito California. She tells us she enjoyed actually living in Holland. Not recently this was in nineteen seventy and I had the amazing opportunity to live there with my husband and our three children in Belgium and we went out on trips with the three children. They were ten eight and two and Holland was the most welcoming of any European country to my children. So what do you remember? That made them so welcoming well they. They were very concerned about whether they had enough blankets at night if they were enjoying their breakfast in the morning and the children now remember the breakfast of Gouda and Adam Cheese and they remember the wrecks museum. My daughter said that the Rights Museum and the Anne Frank House had had a profound effect on her life. Really as a child. She was ten and she became an art historian. So it was especially grossly. Man I love that some little kernel of an experience. Then redirects that child's future. My parents took me to Europe and I remember when I was same time. You took your kids to Europe Nineteen sixty nine my very first trip and I remember on a Sunday We went to a village right on the border of Hungary and you could see communism just over the way and the guards and everything and you could see the traditional village and tell the story I met met a man in the tavern after church and all the village gathered all the different generations and told stories about you know how World War One started after the assassination of archduke Ferdinand in Sarajevo when I was just so wide eyed and that stuck with me forever and I ended up getting history degree in writing guidebooks all because my because my parents decided to take me to Europe and instead of baseball camp in the summer you know and it's just a choice that parents have to. What do they want to expose their kids to and it's just as viable today as it as it ever was. I think that's right. Hey Pat thanks for the call and thanks for the little bit of inspiration for all the parents Wondering if they should take their kids to Europe. Thank you Chris on the line in Moreno Valley. California Chris thanks for your call. Hi Rick Thank you so much. It's lovely to hear you good. Thanks well I'm a lonely Walker. Who walks all over the country of England on a search for the very best stone that they have in the land? So what I do is go around and I try the scones in every village every town every city that I can find and then I blog about it so what I did was created a blonde that talks all about that lovely afternoon. Tea and England has. What can I say but within England when you want to find the best going what what distinguishes a good scone? Warm just out of the oven. They have to be judged Sweden up not too sweet of a good respectable size and weight. They have to be brushed with an egg. Wash before you bake them. They CTE in a hot oven at intervals in its desk says place. We'll do it all day long so that they don't repeat the film's Am laughing at least for them to be served with lashings of jam and either clotted cream or whipped cream. So that is a fabulous Gome but what is the difference between clotted cream and whipped cream whipped cream. You would just take a thick heavy cream and whip it up really good with a little bit of Vanilla in it and about five tablespoons of sugar for a pint. And that's the way I like. Scones best is to have live cream but clotted cream is good. It's sort of between butter and whipped cream. But you know from your travels that some scones are better than others absolutely a rick. He just can't believe if you go into a tea shop and they serve you gone. That's hard and cold and was hardly any whipped cream terrible. You want to start your day all over. Yeah you you really do in. Life is short mediocre scones. Not Worth it. There's something about a good score and I know what you mean and different places get a reputation among locals because locals don't want to put up with Disappointing scorns. That's true in. And because of that I wanted to tell you about the very best on in the country of England that I've ever been found in. Cornwall course the wait a minute let me sit down and this is really important to this is the very best known in all of England. And it's in. Cornwall Cornwall in the town of Saint. I've and the place that I go to now which is never yet been beaten. This called the Jiji food room and it's Spelled D. I G. E. Y. And people who Google it and it's right on a little cobbled lane. They're insane I've and they have other things to the scones are to die for so it doesn't it doesn't hurt to be in a beautiful little town to consume the scone. It doesn't hurt at all and you can sit out on the cover of lane blue table and look at that beautiful town as you're eating your phone until me. Take me through the whole process first of all. I'd walk in and find Josh. Who's there Baker and thanking once again first grade school and his contribution? Really? Oh yeah and he thinks of it that way he really does. That's his thing that's the way he feels and several different times. He's allowed me to have him the on the block and his picture even though he's somewhat shy so I'll go on in order from him and go out to the little blue table on the COB lane keep brings it out himself with all the jam and cream and sometimes you will had to wait a few minutes because he won't just serve you going. That was done a half an hour ago because by examined might be a little bit cool so he'll wait and put in this going for you and they get and then he brings it out and right next to this phone. He will have the clotted cream and strawberry jam and a pot of cream for your tea and you can actually smell this going because it's still steaming. Yes absolutely. You can nice scorn scorn they would tend to say Scott run. And when I'm over there I do so that they'll understand me in some the gone lady but you are about to want to connect with the American listening audience. So you've Americanized it to say scone exactly right. They WANNA talkie. That's important man. You're making Gourmet scones accessible to the masses and your blog is scoring therapy dot blog spot dot com. Wow.
