"Covers the giants for the New York Post kind enough to join us on what has to be a very busy day. Maybe surprising day initial reaction to this Paul. Well, Dan, he hasn't even started yet. I guess we can't talk about any of this. Right. Nothing's official. My initial reaction is very much surprised. I wouldn't say shot just because there was so much buzz about a possible deal. But let's face it. When you trade away a mega superstar like Odell Beckham junior. A great player. I mean, no one questions the fact that he's a great player, and he's not old and he was signed to a contract. It's it's got to send reverberations around the whole organization, and this one certainly will. I guess I'm wondering that you go five and eleven or another five and eleven season. We're we're we're the giants maybe made aware a little bit quicker with what happened with Antonio Brown that this was going to happen with Odell Beckham junior's. So let's get in front of this before we're behind it. Well, there's no question. They looked at what happened with Antonio Brown and saw that the market just completely evaporated for a great receiver. You know, a better receiver and a lot of people's minds Dan Odell Beckham, although he is a bit older. But yeah, I don't think Dan. This was a case of the giants saying we have to trade this guy. Let's put him on the market. Let's see we can get you know, I felt all along they would have to be blown away not shopping him. But fielding calls. They would have to be blown away in a deal for Beckham. And I'm not sure if this actually qualifies as blown away but a first round pick a third round pick. Any a good player a good young player in safety Gibril peppers is light years better than what the Steelers ended up getting. So in that way, the giants struck while the irons hot. But I think this was a case where you know, fans will have to decide whether this was being actually blown away in the trade as they move forward. Would you rather have the Browns future the giants future? Well, look, there's no question the Browns. I think are the hot it team in football this year. I'm not saying you're the best team. But no the Browns future is tremendous. Now, they had a lot of salary cap money. They have a quarterback going into a second year. They have Odell Beckham whose only twenty six they have, you know, just a slew of of tremendous talent and an array of defensive and offensive players. I think if you would talk to thirty teams in the NFL, the vast majority of them would say I'll sign up for that roster. The Browns have right now. All right. The strategy for the giants in the draft is going to be what? Well, we have twelve picks. So the strategy is going to be probably getting rid of some of those picks. I still think Dan right now sitting here of the giants have two first round picks. Now, a six this number six pick and the seventeen pick. I don't think it number sixty gopher quarterback. I mean, I just don't think at this point. They are looking at Dwayne Haskins and saying he is our guy that has to replace ally. I could be wrong. But that's not the way I'm thinking right now. But after trading Odell and presumably I assume bringing you I manning back for his final year on his contract. I think they have to get the next young quarterback on this roster. Whether it's at the seventeenth pick that they got from the Browns either it's maybe getting the guy in the second round. Or I still think the Josh Rosen scenario was fascinating and won. The giants must at least investigate. What do you think? It would take to get Josh Rosen. Well, they don't have to give up to six round pick. And I don't this number six pick in the draft. And I don't know if they would have to give up the seventeenth pick. But now they do have a second first round pick. They can give up at seventeen to get him. I would try for the second round pick the number thirty seven overall. I don't think the cardinals are going to be in a position if they really want to take column Murray at number one. They gotta take what they can get for Josh Rosen and just admit they made a mistake on him and move on to the finorm quarterback who they coach seems to love. So I would not give up a ton for him. But if I can give you get him for the number the second round pick. I would do it in a heartbeat because I think the giants liked Roseanne last year. Did the jets have good day yesterday? Oh, yes. I mean, the jets only in New York could the jets eventually come up with levian bell and not make the back page of the New York Post. Right. That's beckham. Getting away does levian bellies a surefire slam dunk back page and it happened late. And it happened after Odell got traded. But yes, the jets look, Dan, we know what happens in free agency the teams with a one hundred million dollars are going to spend spend spend they going to be the big winners in the middle of March right now. And also in the short term, it is a big win for those teams in the long term, not so much. So, but yes, the jets have made a bunch of good moves. They've improved their defense. And Levy on bell improves every offense in the league except maybe ones with saquon Barkley Todd Gurley. Good stuff, Paul. I know it's busy day. We appreciate your time. As always anytime, Dan. Thank you, Paul Schwartz New York Post giants beat writer. Yeah. I think the jets had a great day. But leave it to the judge where they bring in Libyan bell. And they don't make the back page of the tabloids there because this is all about Odell Beckham junior leaving. Yup. How happy is the Knicks owner James Dolan with all this? He did an interview yesterday. No one's talking about it with Michael k and. I don't know. But I don't know what else is there unless he's punished by the NBA, he's still a bad owner with a bad product. And let's see what happens in the lottery because if they don't get Zion. Williamson RJ Barrett's, a nice player, John Moran. Nice players. But if you don't get Zion sort of still the Knicks, and I think you got a better chance of getting some of these free agents if you get John Williamson. Yeah, paulie who is the biggest sports star in New York right now, Aaron judge. Yeah. Yeah. Other anyone else? Well, nobody on the giants one on the Knicks. No one on the nets. No one on the Mets. Sam darnold probably to by default is because of young and promising maybe that's yeah. That's bleak. Now a little parched. Dry there with celebrities. New York like everybody had a celebrity. Everybody was his star. All the papers. People are in Cleveland. Yeah. Or there in Hollywood trying to get their kids into college. Yes. Mclovin. I was gonna say the Jacob degrom. Yeah. Syndergaard T-Bills sent down. Oh, yeah. Tibo couple of texts. Here tweets here cynical one thousand nine hundred eighty two this situation with Antonio Brown's scare the giants GM they go five and eleven again OBE Odell Beckham JR. Once out wouldn't have the same kind of value. Shouldn't the giants trade for Josh Rosen? Feels like that Scott a little bit more steam there. I think you're gonna have a couple more teams involved in the Josh Rosen sweepstakes because cheap and I got that rookie deal. If I'm the dolphins. I look at this. If on the patriots, I look at this. And why wouldn't you have the giants look at this as well? And you can trade that high second round draft pick and get Josh Rosen. All right. I'd feel a little better today. If I was a giants fan, I don't want to Wayne Haskins because I don't know if he's the kind of quarterback that you can say here, you go make us great. Close up first hour with lifelock security. I know I'm the bearer of bad news. The grim reaper when it comes to what could happen to your Bank accounts..

"Remember seeing him Bulwer from both within the Hon dont you to the gang leader and Don Cheadle was so intellectual, but he knew what was going on in the community and he influence Bulworth so much. That's what guys like LeBron have to do. That's what Charlemagne have to do with his platform. Like that's what we have to do when we get these platforms, bring the people that are actually out there doing the work that are in the street that are experts in these arenas and give them the floor, they'll people are listening to the bronze is standing by them. Yeah, it should be LeBron should be the loudspeaker. That's an you get these experts do it. That's it. And. To be to be quite honest with you. That's why you need to listen to people that you disagree with his. Sometimes they say some shit that make sense. People could be smart. I listen for sure. I, I'm like that everybody, I feel you can learn something from everyone. Listen, I listened to lock podcast with van, right? I wanna hear. I'm like, fat. Forgot the man in the fedora got to say, yeah, I didn't agree with everything he said, but it was certain points that he's made. I'm like an, you'll maybe LeBron listen to that. Maybe around dick, you know what? There's a position on the shop for an intellectual Mike lyrics, ice type and Angela Wright type or one of these types of people that could speak openly and like voice opinions that you guys are trying to express yourself, but you just don't have the expertise when you're going onto the basketball court. You want LeBron. Right? Because that's what you're an expert at is. Right. So bring an expert at whatever the convoy is that day on the show, and I don't want anybody to get it twisted and think that we're saying we want LeBron shut up in dribble, no LeBron to speak speaking throwing assist. That's what I want him to want him to speak. They what you don't like. And then throwing assist sister, somebody who can actually use your plan tick you late in a way to where people can actually get it to be fair living by LeBron even producing even if he didn't speak. But if he produce a show that voice as opinions that is him speaking. Yes, but him sitting there yet. Exactly, but him sitting there him just being in the shot in the room has tremendously. I mean tours, of course how. It's I don't care about here. No del complain about people asking them to dance, your only death. You always dance with things. Rather get a selfie. Greece in person. I saw name, can I get a drop dramatically unit. I don't know what you put in Cuba me on. All gloves drafts. They don't know what to do. "Boy, then you're you're, you're you're, you must have been listening to me talking or meeting. I thought that was the one thing I didn't didn't like about the deal either. I just felt like the Blue Jays should not be able to benefit with the player who suspended, you know, they've, they get back a player who competes tonight in Giles if they want and whatever else they got. So I think it's it reminds me of a few years ago when somebody would get suspended for PD's and be eligible for postseason. Yeah, and the Commissioner made the adjustment and no longer were you allowed to play? I think we'll see in judgment on this rule as well. The challenge will be, how do they come about it and what will it be? We're going to discuss this on on the show because we had a split camp across the board and our meeting with Dan Odell, Tom Verduci myself, Greg amp singer, everybody had different opinions, so we're going to dive into it, but I'm, I'm in your camp. I was sitting there going. How does that work? I don't think it's right. And it sounds like you're saying that. Well, you can't trade a player who's injured. It's like if the Lakers were thinking of trading Lonzo ball to San Antonio as part of the quiet Leonard deal, then he quickly and announced that he needed knee surgery that the Lakers couldn't trade him. So I don't know what the difference is of somebody who's injured in somebody's who suspended feels like if you're injured and you wanna trade for somebody. That's I, I would be okay with that as opposed to somebody suspended for domestic violence and you could still get rid of them. Yeah, I think this is one that kinda get worked out in the end. I still think we're into the beginning stages of figuring all this out and you know, it's a new policy, and I think they've got the right policy in place, and I think they'll make the adjustment I'm, that's really the only answer I got. I can't think of anything else because we haven't come across this. This is the first case I case of in the and say the zero tolerance policy, but they bring this guy in and you've already won a World Series so that there's not pressure on you to like the cubs brought in Chapman, and he had domestic violence. They had never won. So they took a chance. And I don't think any cub fan is, you know, going to say, yeah, we won, but you know, we had this guy who was accused of domestic violence or whatever. You know, with Chapman, why bring in Osun a-. I, I don't care how like there's nobody else out there that you could have said, hey, can we get somebody not accused of domestic violence here? Maybe he's not as good a pitcher. So sooner, but I don't know, kinda strange. I didn't understand that from the Astros perspective. Well, yeah, they should've came out and just said, you know, my job is to win games. He's twenty three years old. We we like stuff. We feel like in our conversations with him that this is a guy that we can help in this clubhouse and fit, and it's a different perspective that way. But I honestly believe that if he's ineligible for the postseason the Astros don't make this deal because they don't benefit you, why would you do it? So they've got a guy now that they know can be the last out in the ninth inning of the World Series. They can get it from this guy. And so again, it brings us back full circle what I said. This is a test in case that I think will be discussed and and because of this things are gonna get changed a lot. I think. All right. Before I let you go. If Bryce Harper is not traded today, it's because why. The nationals just didn't have the nerve to do it. Man. It's tough to try to franchise player to for for Rizzo to have to deal this guy today. It's killing him. They have to be in this conversation. And I, I don't know if the as an organization, they want the blowback that's going to come their way. And that would be the reason that they don't do this deal HR. Good to talk to you. Tell the boys. We set a low, the trade deadline coverage today and special MLB tonight addition beginning at one o'clock eastern. Good luck today. Thanks HR. All right, buddy. Thank you look forward to seeing it..
