"Goal and we've got to get that done. Yeah i mean it sounds like you think of this as a win win but it also sounds like you're willing to maybe think about your employees. I and solitaire shareholders later. Well actually do believe that. And i think that the idea of a multistakeholder capitalism that is a time for today we cannot just think that we have one stakeholder that we need to satisfy we live in our communities we live in this world have people struggling day in and day out is not good for any company and we can only do x. amount but we can actually created financial for our employees and we should net disposable income. I think it's a new wave. You know how net promoter scores also known as m p s became all the rage. Now after almost every service you receive from companies. You get asked. Would you recommend this service to a friend. my dermatologist. Even asks me this. Well i think. Andy i may be the next critically important metric for organizations. Here's why my colleague joel. Bruckner and other scholars work has shown that the process such as how company determines pay is as important as the outcome. How much money is employees receive and when leaders get the process right meaning you make it fair and transparent and you base it in genuine care for your people. Employees are more likely to go above and beyond like doing extra work voluntarily. The process companies typically used to set pay involves checking industry standards and competitors salaries dead picking a number the process that led pay pal two n d. I involved actually asking employees how they were doing and what they needed. Which is a pretty direct way to show your staff that you actually see them as real people and that you actually want them to be financially healthy which makes employee start to care more to and their behavior show it all this carrying can leave the firm better off. But let's take the idea of indiana one step further. Yes dan shulman. Highlights we need to raise the payback more for everybody however we may need to raise the payback more for certain people throughout my adult life. I've had dear friends experienced tremendous stress from both needing to support themselves financially and also their parents and extended families who've had the added expense of adopting kids a family members friends who paid their mortgage for several years friends who send money regularly to their families in the us and abroad friends who pay the school fees of their nieces and nephews. I've had mba. Students should the struggle of choosing the job they liked least but that paid the most because it was the only way for them to make ends meet. Students who under small stipends needed to borrow money from faculty members because the stipend wasn't enough for them to pay the rent on time have enough food to eat and support their extended families and we wonder why some students drop out of the program. And might i add that if in your mind you jump to the conclusion that these are all black friends due to my race in the immediate stereotypes. We have about who is the struggles. I'll let you know that these are friends of different ethnicities black. Lat next you name it and different nationalities from american to european to southeast asian. Two african one commonality is that their families were all low and socioeconomic status another commonality. Is they had the same pedigree. Education of others in their work cohort the same workload and similar pay but they had greater financial need often due to systemic forces. So yes. Indiana is a huge step in the right direction but allow me to make a suggestion that might sound radical. But it shouldn't when you said about following dan's advice and actually ask employees about their financial health. Try asking them about non obvious expenses. They may be carrying expenses that might make a market salary inadequate for them and consider paying them enough to make sure that you're not just hitting an average living wage but you're actually paying enough for this particular employees to live on in fact you can make this an official process since we know a fair process is as important as its outcome and without revealing anyone's personal details make the process transparent so that everyone understands the standard. You're using and the care you're taking but what if you can't afford to bump up employee salaries you can actually look for other ways to make employees feel care for and reduce their expenses lake improved healthcare benefits flexible hours to adjust for childcare. Crunches or paid family leave. Dan also tried these kinds of approaches. It pay pal by adjusting benefits and increasing the company's contribution. My hope is that hearing about these approaches will help you or your employer asking new questions about what good pay really needs is the market rate. Really the right. Yardstick for financial wellness is the same paycheck. Really the same for different people. And if i really truly want my employees to be financially healthy how can i know for sure that my pay scale of them that the answer as pay pal found out might just be to ask them. "Support for this podcast and the following message. Come from Comcast business having the nation's largest gig speed network was just the start. Now, they're providing gig fueled apps and solutions that exceed expectations and help businesses perform Comcast business beyond fast. We've been looking at what's beyond cash crypto currency digital payments and more in this month's Altech considering. Today. There are more mobile payment apps than ever Zell Apple Pay square cash, but just one doubles as a social network NPR's. Danielle Czeslaw explains how VIN MO has changed relationships when copywriter Kelly Johnson moved to Los Angeles. She didn't tell her parents she'd be living with her boyfriend Johnson grew up in Bakersfield a couple hours drive north very conservative, very religious, my parents as well in LA. She pays the rent and her boyfriend chips in his half on ven mo- when he did it. He put it in the memo line the month, plus like the little house emoji. And that's how my mom saw her. Mom, uses Motoo Johnson was busted I shared that story with Richard krone a payments expert. That reinforces our findings the number one use case is paying rent. He estimates about thirty nine million people use then MO which is owned by PayPal. The company didn't confirm. Here's how it works. You use motive pay request money from other people on the app. It's usually linked to your Bank account every transaction has a memo line, and there are emoji for things you pay for like pizza or wine or rent, but these memos and emojis are public by default. So you can see how your friends spend money, and what they're asking others to pay for krone says that visibility can be a perk. You wanna pay it socially? So everybody knows that you're not a deadbeat and you've met your obligation pay pal. Ceo, Dan, Schulman's has been mo- is the app for generation that grew up on social media. And he says the public feed is the essence of the app here. He is on CNBC. It's really social experience. Like, you do a payment you tag it? You put it emoji next to it. And you share it with. Your friends nineteen billion dollars changed hands over the app just between October and December of last year. That's up eighty percent from the previous year. Not everyone knows others are seeing their payments. The Federal Trade Commission last year demanded that Venema make it clear to customers that these transactions are public. Then MO says, it never posts the amount of the transaction and anyone can make their payments, private private or not the app has made it easy to give cash instantly. We heard from a woman in Baltimore. She picked up a three hundred fifty dollars grocery Bill for a friend who forgot her wallet. But then mode the money immediately. A man in San Francisco told us he then MOS birthday money to his friends for round of drinks. But others notice when it's so easy to split a Bill, it becomes an expectation of definitely less generous. When I go out with my friends. Matthew, Masud studies aerospace engineering at the university of Cincinnati. He says via Skype that he went out to dinner at a restaurant that wouldn't split the check. So he just paid for. For everyone. And then he sent out Venema requests. One of my friends ordered pasta dish, I believe and that one was like thirteen dollars before van MO Masud said he would have just taken care of the whole Bill and next time someone else would if Ben mo- has changed Masud's habits. It doesn't seem to have changed. Kelly johnson. Even after her mom discovered. The live in boyfriend Johnson says she didn't change her privacy settings. No. Are you kidding? I have nothing to hide. "In BUSTER, only, here's Dan Schulman. Casteel Allocco and on head to get a game three of this series between the dodgers had Red Sox. And obviously it is a virtual must win for the dodgers. They don't want to fall behind three games to none insignia. We've said there's a couple of times already this October. But they've got a lot of trust in the rookie. They're giving the ball to tonight we've gotten the opportunity to see him pitch twice particularly in that National League championship series and the the home start here seven innings and gave up four runs but did not look like for runs in the Audi and it was just real dominant. In-command gave up some runs late. And then we saw him start game seven and really just ice in his veins. They're in Milwaukee. So I would expect him here Dodger Stadium, especially when you look at the splits. He's better at home. Not that he necessarily depends on that. But I think the dodgers being back home him on the mound should win game. Three Dave Roberts who says what's the most important thing for the dodgers tonight? And he said Walker bueller? Getting deep into the game BUSTER from the Red Sox side a lot of conversation going into this game about will JD Martinez and his bum ankle be in the. Outfield in the National League park. He is. But it's not Jackie Bradley who's out. It's Andrew Benintendi. Yeah. And it was funny to hear Alex court's description of what JD Martinez did the outfield today because there was a lot of focus JD's testing his ankle. And Alex was like no that was all why wash? I knew he was going to be in the lineup sued. JD Martinez is in the lineup. He's in the app. He's diminished in terms of how he moves and after talking with Alex Cora, I think it's apparent that. He essentially chose his two range east outfielders knowing that JD can't move that. Well, so he's got Jackie Bradley, jR, in centerfield. He's got arguably the best outfielder in baseball and Mookie Betts in right field. Hoping those two guys take up some of the ground that JD Martinez can't cover and Andrew Benintendi, obviously will pinch hit at some point here in the National League park. Could be double switched into the game. The same can be said for David freeze of the dodgers who figures to be an important bat off the bench tonight. Singye if things go well back to Walker Beulah for a moment of the dodgers are leading late. What do you expect to see out of the bull? What do you expect to see out of kenley Jansen specifically if the dodgers are in a position to win this game? Yeah. I would expect to see probably four outs from Janssen. I mean, maybe five. Yeah. He's ready. He's plenty rested. Hasn't thrown a lot didn't throw in game one game two. So when you consider going back to the it was the last time he pitched so. Yeah. See him in there. What I don't know that we'll see is Ryan Madson. I know that Dave Roberts. So he wants confidence all of his guys. But I mean to rough outings for Madsen. So we see maybe a little more bias and a little more Janssen tonight. The Boston bullpen has been lights out BUSTER to say, the least this is Jeff McKinney. And that WR newsroom charges have been filed against the Florida. Man, arrested today is the man who say mailed at least fourteen pipebombs too, high profile Democrats, the charges against Cesar Sayek today outlined by attorney general Jeff Sessions, he has been charged today with five federal crimes including interstate transportation of an explosive. Illegal mailing of explosives threats against former presidents and certain other persons threatening interstate communications and assaulting current and former federal officers, and he could get up to fifty eight years in prison, and here's how they got to say after what he called a nationwide investigation of enormous scope FBI director Christopher Wray announced the arrest of Caesar's CEO, charged now with five federal crimes in connection with suspected mail bomb sent to prominent Democrats. These are not hoax devices race said the suspect was identified from a fingerprint lifted from one of the packages sent to congresswoman Maxine Waters from their investigators tracks SEO using his cell phone before he was arrested in Miami Dade County. He'll be brought here to New York to face charges. Aaron katersky. ABC news New York abroad to New York because several of the pipebombs were sent to New York City, including one found today at a post office in hell's kitchen. This was an alert worker who flagged this suspicious package at the postal facility here on west fifty second and. John Miller with the NYPD. He says the worker was aware of the recent series of male pipebombs going around. And so this package was similar to the others and notified authorities the bomb squad was able to use their equipment to conduct. An x Ray inside. They saw what appears to be a pipe bomb consistent with other devices. We've seen this week. It. It was addressed to James Clapper. "How would end the dodgers had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth inning. Now. One run came across you heard the sound by Dan Schulman, SPN radio the brewers re established control in the series. They take two to one lead by winning four and nothing, by the way, the dodgers tonight. No home runs. No runs scored no hits with runners in scoring position. Ten at bats with runners in scoring position fourteen strikeouts. Yeah. The brewers were not having it tonight. Because the Bruce felt they let gain to get away from them when they had the advantage early. When it was all said and done dodgers manager. Dave Roberts was at a loss. For words about the hitting roles of his baseball team. You had the bases loaded twice tonight. Just couldn't get any clutch hitting anything you can do moving into tomorrow to try to shuffle things up to get a few more hits. When you need them. Well, I actually I thought we had the right guys in those moments and we just didn't execute. So think we're over ten with runner to score position. And you know, one part of it is creating scoring opportunities. We had a second and third one out. We had a leadoff double. And we couldn't push him across so games. Like this things like that get exploited. And so I definitely don't think it's a personnel. It's just a matter of when we get in those spots. We gotta find a way to be productive. What did you think of the two slides that Manny had second base? And I guess after the first was there any discussion with him about like, you know, being careful that was the first one, obviously, they reviewed and it was fine. It was a clean play. And the second one. I just felt that we we talk about it a lot. When you go into second base that you have to really make an attempt to hold onto the bag or or. Not try to. It's a safe place as far as trying to protect the infielder. And so many knows that we talk about it all the time, and they looked at the review, and they got it. Right. Because you do have to make a very good effort to hold onto the bag. And apparently, we didn't. But I didn't look at really look at it. Too much for all the talk of their bullpen. Have you been surprised at how? Well, their starters have thrown here Miley and threw the ball. Well, so they're both both those guys have had great years and they keep the ball down. And for us. The plan is to get get them up and try to put the ball on the air, and unfortunately tonight, and even against Miley the other night, we couldn't do that. And they kept us at bay. The words a day. Now, he's back on the air during a local broadcast here in Milwaukee Brewers radio network is Chris Taylor takes a strike of Jeremy, Jeff. Taylor Turner Muncie eighth inning want run game. He's the kind of guy you could keep for hours to the point where eventually he'd say. Okay. Guys, I told all my stories now, I gotta go but stories so good, and it's not just historic. He such a decent kind, man. As the Owen is fouled back to and immensely popular. Here would be an understand. Yeah. I agree. It's it's awesome. You know when you have. Guy like that that's been around the organization a long time could easily be disconnected from this generation of player. But he's got a Walker. You know in there. I would imagine if he didn't show up the guys would go looking for them and say, hey, you need to get in here. No balls two strikes on Chris Taylor. Pitches. Hi, high one Taylor started the game and set move to left. And now he's at second. With all of these changes that Dave Roberts has had to make the dodgers got two of the top of the seven to make it a one run game. Euchre through batting practice for a long time to. Brewers on a daily basis. Let deepens the connection with guys as well. Want to tailor censored foul off to the right in his eighties. But has an amazing amount of enthusiasm and energy. And and still love recovered the ballpark every day. Borey can able is now loosening up in the Milwaukee bullpen. Greg counsel's going to try to get he got three outset of Jeffers lasting Jeffers. Still on the mound is go to try to get six more out of some combination of Jefferson and Ken able with or unavailable today. Want to swing a week grab all up the third base line issues. Trouble barehanded by Mushtaq is not even close at. I was hit too. Softly taylor. Runs too. Well and answered infield hit. That's big quiet in here quickly as the dodgers have their laid off mad on good speed. And taylor. See what? Turner can do in terms of possibly hitting behind the runner into that hole on the right side of the infield. Get a first and third situation. Justin Turner, one for three of Asia to ground out on a fly ball. And they're quiet again the ballpark. They are tense again here at the ballpark with the dodgers having a leadoff man on her to wander onto game in the eighth inning. The pitch and.

"Dan Schulman. Rick. Thank you brewers one Rockies. Nothing Rockies need to win today or their season is over they win today. Game four would it be tomorrow night with a nine forty eastern time? Seven forty local time. I pitch here in Denver. Travis shaw. Lar- at a Mike Mustafa's the middle. Third of the brewers lineup coming up against hair Montemar kes-. The young star for the Rockies just thirty nine pitches through three and pitch number. Forty bounces in down at Inbal wander Shaw. In the Rockies fans definitely wanna see some play tomorrow night. Even if it is freezing cold, this is the first postseason home game for these fans since two thousand nine game four is what. Oh, and I one this is the fifth time the Rockies been to the postseason the best raw they had of the playoffs. Was there all the way to the World Series in two thousand seven they were swept there though by the Boston Red Sox swig on a curve ball one or two on Shaw. How crazy hot they got at the end of the season in two thousand seven road that through game one sixty three sweep the division series. Sweep it again. Yes. Then had about nine days off before they started playing the Red Sox and got swept in the World Series. That year time is called. You just don't expect Rockies fans. You don't want to be trained to another and say Hannity ever gonna hit. Again, the one two's inside too. That's not the problem. They had where they've had problems. Shift onto the Rockies three of the right side. Inaudible own on the left side to the left hand weeding Shaw who slugged thirty two runs issues chops breaking ball foul off his foot to stay alive. Tell you never can really. Quantify just the the element of. Okay. We got good starting pitching. Now, we feel pretty comfortable with our -bility to prevent runs and how that. Can affect the offense a little bit. Again to to inside a full count. I mean, it's it's weird. When you look at least for me, whether from playing career, even broadcast there are times where I remember as a player, we'd have a picture that we knew and he's going to deal the only gives up like a Ron most hard to score for him same series three two to swing at a broken-bat. What hopper backhanded by our Donald throw to first dugout in time by Desmond Shaw. Retired one down. But you could be in the same series David before or day after in you saw nine runs off the opponent. But that guys on the mound. That's just really nasty. And he's not going to give up anything for some reason. I don't know exactly why that seems to happen in these. But now maybe with the Rockies there's that a little effect this year, or at least as of late with their starters going out and giving such great efforts that the sense of. Hey, we got scored eight nine ten runs to win. Is it really in their minds? They've only scored six runs total in their last four games says, hey, sue, saggy, lar- launches the first pitch way up into the seats. It laughed at him breasts home. Rod biography lar- extends the Milwaukee lead shoot it up. Craig counsel told us that Aguilar would eventually hit a home run didn't say exactly when. But as long as the brewers keep playing games, go hit a home, run and Lorenzo Cain. Get ahead. And after that lasted bat Bragwell are hit it right back to the pitcher. He looked at the dugout when he was kind of going up the line, and this time does it takes a very slow kind of casual walk out of the box before you start jogging. And if I could hit when that far I'd be slow and casual out of the box as well. That was impressive in any altitude and upping Milwaukee on a long home run into the sea to the left by doubt about it was Mike Mustafa's a pitch. Swung. Autographed it to the right side backhanded by Desmond hill underhanded Marquez covering for the second out. Now, Marcus is pitching. Well, but again, it's an elimination game juice giving by inning run by run. You know, the cliche is all hands on deck. And maybe nothing happens to the next time. His spot comes up to hit all those. We mentioned he's a very good hitter..

"For lender rhubarb come out with a win in this one but now after the excitement and the way the game was one how do you think that is going to affect the psyche of both clubs moving forward into in game three i think the psyche the dodgers are going to be fine idled fake invade obviously rather be up two games did i don't get me wrong but i don't think this was a blow to their confidence would argued over one thing that happened to them that hadn't happened is the bullpen got here twenty consecutive scoreless innings going into the i guess the eighth inning last night uh moral gave up a double cancer gave up a base it for a single that scored ron morals rotted but that he give up the whole rather barbeque absolves that obviously what happened to uh to fields and mccarthy later oughta significant so uh i mean that's something different of that something they'll have to bounce back crumble i don't think it's a blow to their psyche at all the way that it happen i think hugh still owed needed this what i mean you can come down to old what a series but two couple of 1214 later pitch where we only give up to yet biggest both happen to be overrun said and i expect he'll be great in game six said i expect there will be game 6 i don't think either team with three in a row here in houston so but will what houston yet because their offense has been so hot and cold in the postseason for them to start hearing home runs for them to come back against the bullpen for them to take the lead lucilita then take it again i think last i was critical for the psyche the houston astros dan schulman's espn mob analysts our guest in houston i'm glad you mention home runs i want to talk about that for a.
