"Very rarely define you know somebody like cooks? Carol who has strengthened both worlds? There's oftentimes guys like me who probably lean more towards the connecting with the players and finding the right buttons to push you've heard that term and then there's other guys that have such a strong Offensive Presence Defensive presence from the playbook side it but they don't cross into the you know player side of it like how to get this player really mentally ready and say the the difficult things that you need to say a player sometimes or to another coach at times. Say Give them the honest truth or the feedback or what you need when you have people that can bridge both of those worlds. That's important so it's not just learning the learner of the players. I think as the leaders in the head coaches you also have to learn. How did coaches learn best because your brain with is longer and stronger than mine but my ability to put it into a good spot and how I can think of a story? We're GONNA use it with the player at how we're going to make the CAU- come to life and so I think you'd better have a balanced of those people like I don't want to hold staff of guys who think just like I do there. Better be a good mix of people but having to learn the coaches is is my opinion just as important. has learning the players because not all coaches learn in the same space. Either I love how you think Dan. I mean I've really appreciated how clear you are and how authentic you are and how much you care and it's obvious that you've been on the you know what I would call the path of mastery like you know. Look for your whole life probably in so I just want to say I I want to honor your time and I want to also honor all the things that we didn't get to say In this conversation because there's so much more inside you and you know there's there's a few things I'd like to make sure that we try to get our arms around though is like how do you think about mastery. And then what do you imagine the future of sport looking like in ten years? You know I'd like that because I know you think about the next generations so Maybe go the that that second one I like. How do you think about the future of sport in the next ten years? Well I'm hopeful that The one concern I have is that we're still maybe sometimes a little too specialized I had such a unique background of playing all different sports and so My appreciation for team my appreciation for Other people grew stronger in those moments. So I would just encourage you know the next generation of kids that are coming up and like don't be afraid to compete at a bunch of things because it's GonNa totally pay off into the sport that you find your space if I you know when I was eight years old said well it is going to be a wrestler and then six years later Mary. The football like. Let's not put pressure on somebody at that age to feel like you are now this. So let's let's let them hang in there for a while and dig into other things because The fun part of Sports is it's GONNA continue on for generations and generations and so. Let's make sure that we'll have longer deeper love with sport when the one that we choose not our parents or an aunt or an ankle or grandma let it happen man to keep digging. They're not digging baseball and you are like. Oh they're gonNA find it but keep pushing the encouragement for other. So I'm hopeful what we see in sport is just the same level of competition the same fan engagement because it is fun to be part of like you know big time college sports pro sports because you have a instant connection with that city in that team is pundits. Hell Mike having a connection between a city team feeling their energy for it and so I hope that grows even stronger. As far as mastery goes in finding mastery. I would say if I had to change the name of year podcast mind would be like master ING. I N G because anywhere near gotten to where I feel like I could be the you know the authority on it is part of the fun of you know being in sport is like our NFL. Game when I came in twenty years ago is way different today than it was twenty years ago until like going through those twenty minutes. Manley those twenty years like that's been cool as hell so like learned grown the game's not the same and so like in the next twenty years were look back. Remember in twenty twenty. How did that? It'll be so different so I do love that. The challenges the learning it never stops. And so that's why it's like the ideal profession for me because the learning doesn't stop say I haven't mastered anything but I love digging for it man so I would say for me. It'd be the you know. How do I keep finding the little? Edge is to change in make adaptions in the game plan in the flight. Plan to make like we're GonNa get the best version of a moving forward 'til mastering Would be better suited for me. I love watching you create an. I love what you're doing. I love the man that you are and what you stand for and I love you and your friend so appreciate your friendship and your support It just sometimes I may interact with you for only two or three minutes or five minutes. Ten minutes walk a lab with me at a game but lonely. Yeah they last jog. We have a good one now isn't it? Yeah I'll be at my worst Think AFTER YOU'RE THE GAME AGAINST SEATTLE. We were one in seven so he finished six two but Being one in seven it's lonely face. It's lonely spot you know and so having to good interactions with people that have really strong mindsets. Sometimes it's just what you need so I definitely appreciate your friendship and your support and Reported competing against you for all all right good near legend. Okay but I'll talk to all right okay..

"Are playing well and you're able to know hopefully as a teen get into really fun and good environments like. That's where I'm at my best self really grounded. Where I'm at and enjoying the moment with the players and the coaches because we work our asses off so you WanNa make sure you're like you're having fun and going through the process with them as well. What is it like when you're at your best? I think there's a good element of Your confidence that goes with it. You know like you've put the work in and like you know those nice before the game like I still can't quit for this game like you know you've put the work in preparation and then the other part of it is like in the game. I guess when it's on the line most that's when I feel most alive and there's been many times You know after a game were my wife stays. It'd be like are you trying to kill me like you know down to the end? Feel like in those moments like a two minute at the end of the game like. I in that my best because I literally feel the most alive in that moment. You don't know what the next place going to be. You don't know but you're ready for it because you practiced it all right in other words. There's thirty seconds left you have to timeouts artifice inbound. You're going to tighten up your back on the ball. Those moments of preparation like you're clear you're ready to go attack it and so then when you nail those ones is awesome. So I'd say me at. My best is probably a good combination of knowing that you put the work in as a team and then the second piece is when those moments come like totally leaning into him and saying like this is it. This is the time we're going to go win this game and Jose recognizing when those moments are 'cause they're not all you know they're not all in the last thirty seconds of the game. There's sometimes you know close game you feel like there's four minutes left in the fourth quarter like this. Stop Pass to go down. This first doubt has to work. You know whatever it might be because although it might not be the last play of the game this is probably the deciding play or certainly could be so being those moments leaning into him. Recognize them Being clear-headed on those ones as a play caller you WANNA have your best stuff for those moments and it was certainly something that I learned from. Coach Carroll. Y- crowd ripping juiced up to go. What's the best call on that one? your bliss package effective or not on this space. You know about this player so the really clearly you know clear eyed clear vision for what you WanNa do in those moments. Those are the things that keep you up at night in. A good way guarded. This comes up. This is what we're GONNA do. And oftentimes I thought my best. When I told the team that this could be a really close game as they come down to the end. And what's going to happen so to me? That's what being at my best felt like okay. Quick break to talk about teeter. Okay if you're cooped up right now at home and you've got any type of back or necker joint pain. This might be a great solution for you to consider so teeter.

"Nineteen her sister. Her sister's father and six other cousins are currently Tested positive for covert nineteen so Our thoughts are definitely with bird lady and her family but As we talked bird lady we talked a head in Cleveland. Who's the man that wears a Pumpkin on his head? and We talked to license plate guy in New York who If you've seen games he's the one with giant string of license plates around his neck that sits behind the the home bench and I thought it was interesting that You know how deep some of this runs like license plate guys into every single game since two thousand this would have been his twentieth year of going to every single game And he has never seen a giants home game on television in his life. And he's I think it is late forties early fifties Which is pretty crazy if you think about it. I mean that that's a long way to go to have to have been to every single giant's game home game at least since you've become a sentient human being that's A. That's that's pretty serious devotion. Yeah so you're talking about You know the likelihood that the season you know the season basically won't kick off as expected and that there can definitely be some kind of disruption and. We're still waiting to see what that looks like. And I think that ties into something Jenny road on Tuesday because the League had a conference call They had a couple of conference calls to make some decisions about the future of the League. And then Jenny. I know you wrote on Tuesday after they talk to the media about some of the things that were decided and you wrote about how optimistic they are. I know this is a topic that Albert wrote about this week. Too but Jenny do on a Talk us through your piece and what you wrote about yeah. The League had a media call after two days of conference calls with the team presidents and the owners and it was pretty clear. They wanted to get the message out that they're planning on a full season at starts on time that includes sixteen games and the playoffs. They're not planning for any other options There have been no conversations. Jeff Pash WHO's the League's General? Counsel went so far to say they. They really wanted to get that message out. There was the takeaway. There was a moment in the call when Troy Vincent who's the VP of football operations referenced contingency plans and maybe communicating with clubs about those and a PR representative jumped in and immediately flipped the conversation back to Pash. Ooh said that. We didn't talk about any contingency plans essentially on our two calls today. Where fully focused on this one scenario and I I understand that. Perhaps it's easier to schedule things as if they were going ahead. And then if you have to make changes do that later but I think what stood out was kind of the defiance and the tone that was silly that they would even consider the alternative and they went to far as to say you know we'll have international games end. We'll be playing all of our regular stadiums even though too are currently under construction and there have been people at work sites in the Los Angeles works. I do of tested positive for corona virus. So I think there's just so many factors at play here and it's difficult to project out and I think. The message was intended for sponsors advertisers for the business world to say hey the NFL's forging ahead from I think a lot of Americans perspective that kind of like. How can you know that at this point? How can really really know at what anything will look like a couple days weeks months from now? Yeah Albert I know you wrote and similarly about this and their tone do a hop in I think you felt similarly to Geno I did not and I don't think the problem isn't to me like I think changes sort of encapsulated this. The problem isn't that you're saying you're planning for the season to begin. Course you're planning for the season to begin because it might begin on time. It's not impossible that happens. The problem is that you're not you're saying in a I think it's a lie. They do have contingency plans. But you're trying to. You're trying to project strength right like so. They're trying to project the strength to to to their sponsors to their advertisers to their partners. And saying well like look. Football IS GOING TO BE BACK. And you should continue to invest your money with us at time when everybody's going to be pulling back you're spending because we're going to be here for for you and when we come back the public's going to be locked in on us and I understand sending that message you know that the problem is you're sending that message is sort of a zero sum thing where it's not just were planning on the season beginning is. We're not planning on anything else happening. And I just think it's a dangerous message you know it's just to me. It's the there are people that are that are listening to them and say and people who want to believe and I don't blame anybody for wanting to be optimistic but who people who WanNa believe. This is going to be okay you know. We can't we can't treat this as if it's going to be over in July or August or September because if we act that way it won't be over then you know so. You're sending this message that there's this ended on what's going on in this country and I don't want to turn this into Corona Virus Podcast. But they're sending this message that there's this end date on on on Corona Virus. And that we're going to be out of the woods no matter what in three or four months well if we if the public's getting that message and it's a really bad thing because if we're treating it like that we're not going to be out of the woods in September October and so to me. That was the problem with it. It wasn't saying we'RE PLANNING FOR A SEASON. Of course they're planning for a season they have to plan for a season. It was more so we're planning for a season and nothing else and we wait. We one hundred percent is going to happen and I think Jenny jump in here but I think they even said we're planning on this with fans in the stands I think Jeff Pash actually specifically said that was just as another layer to it. Yeah he specifically said with fans in the stands in our regular stadiums so there wouldn't even be an option for playing without fans playing in a different location which. I don't know that those make a lot of sense anyway. The the number of people that have to be in a stadium to make an NFL game go is large enough that you have to make sure that there's safety in any kind of gathering but yes it was all of the criteria as we as always is and the international games with striking to me to making plans to go to other countries. When were trying to get a handle on containment in the United States? You know so. It's just a lot of factors at play that they can't really have a full grasp on at this point But while MLB literally just yesterday announced their international games cancelled the season. They're gonNA stay in the US. Obviously that's sooner than the NFL season which is farther down the line. But still I think every sports league is kind of watching every other league and seeing the steps that they're taking and it's like okay well. We cancelled something in May okay. They cancelled something. June or now the British Open in July. And it's sort of like the calendar you just keep going and they're all. I don't know if it's playing a game of chicken but they're waiting and watching things get pushed pushed a little bit farther out and plus we just don't know even mentally if they are allowed to have fans and stands if anyone would actually how many people would feel comfortable buying a ticket and going and sitting there and even you know so. Many people are losing their jobs and we don't know if people are going to have money or if they're going to want to spend their money on tickets and expensive day to go to a football game so you know like you said our we don't we don't have a whole podcast about Corona Virus. But it's just it's hard to anything else and it's just there are so many unknowns that it's impossible to know what things are going to be. I think the one thing the one thing that I sort of wished I touched on that. I didn't I thought about afterwards. Was You know at the end of the CBA negotiation and again Janney? Was there on the ground in Indianapolis with me one of the big reasons why the League was so you know sort of forceful and like we have to do it now was because they wanted to move to the broadcast deals and that was really kind of the Golden Goose for the NFL owners. There are actually owners. That privately said the small potatoes when compared to the broadcast deals that we're going to be negotiating after this. And so I do wonder if maybe part of this. From on Pashas part and you know in part of being so forceful on that conference call was maybe this I maybe this uneasiness that they feel right now over what could happen to the broadcast deals. And how the networks might be able might be kind of hamstrung and how they bid now on some of the TV deals because that's where the real money is right and so I was sort of wondering about that. If the economy takes a huge hit from what's going you know takes the hit that a lot of people are projecting here What does that mean for the networks ability to bid on the broadcast deal so there could be a ton of money at stake here for owners which I think would bring even more context to why they were so forceful what their message. I also think who delivered. The message was notable Jeff. Pash does talk but he's not often the most you know the person who's out in front the most but I think it was intentional. That they had their general counsel Buell. You'd voice on a conference call at this point in time. Yeah no question no question. I mean it's putting a lawyer in charge of something that has has to be very very buttoned up all right Albert. Wow we're on you. I know everyone's trying to figure out what impact this is going to have on teams and players and prospects and all kinds of things and I thought you had a really interesting story in your game plan this week. Talking to Dan. Quinn the Falcons head coach just about what their preparation has been like and the conversations they have with prospects over facetime and things. He's doing when they talk to their staff. Can you tell us a little bit about your game plan? Column and the Falcons Prep. I think it's a like I think he. You know what he's doing is probably what a lot of teams are doing which is similar to what happened in two thousand eleven where teams are looking at the circumstances saying okay. How can we create an advantage for ourselves here because when the season starts if it starts You know everybody's going to have attacked tack this a little bit differently and so it was interesting hearing him talk about how you know summer things that he might get in a private workout or thirty visit. He's trying to replace the facetime calls and the one thing that he brought up was him and Thomas Debate trough the general manager down there in Atlanta would they look for energy enthusiasm and passion for football in the workouts and so he said to me is like on Tuesday night. We went three for three. And we had three interviews and we saw it and all three of those guys and that's great and so there's that part of it that I thought was really interesting. I thought the other part that was was interesting too was how he's leaning on other people to try to help him through this and I think you've probably Doug enough. I think you'd see a lot of this in the sports community. In general where he talked to the Clippers Guys Lawrence Frank and doc rivers about how they handled it because they're obviously in a very different situation where they were in season when this happened and you know. He went and talked to the Duke Lacrosse team because they called him in to help some of the guys on that team handle what was going on because he was at Hofstra when Jonathan. Jonathan the the Lacrosse coach at Duke. They were Hofstra together and then he even brought in college. Roommate was a was a college professor and he actually brought him in to talk about teaching online classes because he thought there was some application for what you know a college professor would try to get across in an online class to what he and.

"Atlanta has finished the season strong going five and two down the stretch which apparently she has been good enough to earn Quinn. A stay of execution pilots announced. They're keeping him. I don't like this decision. Go to straight years without the play offs. I I don't get it falcons making a mistake here. No I don't think so. I think they found the winning formula Something that could click even the owner Goes out there. Arthur blanket says same players same energy same motivation but we put them in better position to win one of them Ryan. Morris is going to obviously be the defensive coordinator going forward who was splitting play call. In this year he was coaching. The receivers. Like come on man. If you know Roy Moore's you know that you need to put them more difficile ball so they make switch at the bye week. They go five into. He's sharing play calling duty now going to put them full time in that position. That's just one wanted things that they've made in terms of internal structure. That's going to lend itself to them. Winning they make a mistake in the reason I say that is what's it. Why would you have of a Defensive Guy Number One coaching offense? And then the defense flip the switch it starts plan. Better when Raheem Morris and Jeff Starts Stars calling the defense one also should be the head coach one of those who should be the head coach because if it takes. If you're a Defense of coaching your Dan Quinn. Why why is a defense given up thirty one points per game when you're calling the defense and then as soon as you give it up to Raheem Morris and Jeff Over? They get better. That the best coach on staff either Raheem Morris so Jeff Aubry. They're making a huge mistake. I I wasn't I'm just GONNA admit my buys. I didn't like the way they walked away from. Brian Cox Talks on coaching staff a few years ago. I'm Brian Cox Fan I I'm not sure if Dan Quinn knows knows how to consistently motivate players from the head coach position that is a skill and when I watched Atlanta I've always felt like there's a Lotta Outta town here. They got Julio Jones who I think arguably is maybe the most talented player in the NFL. I don't see them maxing out his production. I've Seen Matt Ryan take a step back. I see them until these last few weeks there was a lifeless to their defense. And why would it take them this much. Let's time to figure out the rookie. Moore's which should be the defensive coordinator again given his background. He's got him coaching receivers. I'm not sure if Dan Quinn truly truly knows how to manage a coaching staff and a football team and it's like TJ said in in the commercial break when we were prepping for this Segment pregnant a lot of times. If you're a coordinator on a winning team everybody just makes the. Oh my God you must be ready and it takes some real due diligence to figure out who really is pulling the strings on an offensive defensive unit how much involvement the head coach has. How much is credit? Coordinators deserve I just think they made this decision because at the moment they can't think of what to do better. Well I look at it differently. Even though I respect respect which you said here's a summary. I come up with raigmore. SES seventeen at thirty one as a head coach Tampa Bay. So you're not so sure if he's a head coach in this league but you know he's a tremendous defensive mind but our head coach is calling defense so therefore we got to put you on the other side just to not how create their friction but then by week comes Arthur blank comes out. Everyone's being reassess Dick when he swallows his ego he actually says as you know what was best for this team and for me to survive is to put them in that position to succeed. So maybe Raheem Morris has better when he's fully focused like a wave Philip some say as a D. Coordinator Dan quick. Just be the overseer of all responsibilities as a head coach get fully motivated in a row to me. That's the only formula that could be very true. But when you're one in seven what other choice do you have like true right Aiming Jeff. y'All go ahead and take this because we have nowhere to go up. We're already at the bottom and so I just rain more. He was very young when he got that head coaching job. With with the bucks he's learned from that into me he's doing a motivating on that defense that Dan Quayle should be doing in so Rahim. Those got jeff afford a former player. Play linebacker those guys of Motiva- net defense. Ns Dan Queens job but you just said if you play coordinator is shouldn't automatically make you hear coach so why not stop right there. You beat a coordinator. They're averaging only eighteen points a game seven in the league since you took over share play corn abilities state air. Why I promote them all the way to head coach? Let Dan Quayle. Well I'll say this Dan Quinn now at one point was carried by cal. Shanahan.

"I think that was the only good news in this entire announcement because regime Morris. I think he's earned it when you look at this defense. In the second half of the season he has had a very very big hand to play in that remember. They moved him from wide receivers Chris Coach to to the defense earlier on this year and remorse as someone who has head coaching experience. The although it wasn't very good head coaching experience with Josh Freeman in the Tampa Bay buccaneers years ago. That's still a former head coach. Who you know maybe Sopher some people. Maybe they're just better coordinators than they are head coaches in Korea. We'll send go. But yes I I really liked the move to promote a regime Morris that someone who's absolutely earned it end I'm very. I'm very sure the Jeff Holbrooke. We'll also have a very heavy hand to play in the defense next year. So I'm I'm all for that. Signed me up for all of that. Yeah I I will say if the defense plays next year the way they have in the second in half I do think the Falcons will have a better record You know if we look at the first half of the season when Dan Quayle was Heading the defense it was they were abysmal And in the second half you know they. They've had a couple of games where they've disappeared in the Tampa Bay game Several weeks go stands out is a really bad one but for the most part. This defense has gotten to the quarterback a lot more consistently than they had before the coverage has been outstanding And that's coming from You know some guys like as Oliver who's improved dramatically in the second half of the season kindle Sheffield who maybe another find in the late rounds of the draft. I like remorse. Unlike what he has done done with this team it. They've moved him around repeatedly and all he's done is deliver every every position they put him in. I think that also could end up being being a you know something where he ends up being head coaching expe year or so I do think he's that was a good move on. The interesting thing to me was the fact that they announced Quin Dmitrov and remorse and there was not a single word mentioned about offensive coordinator..

"Falcons have a game against the panthers this weekend. They did not have. Julio Jones on Thursday they did not have often hooper for the last few weeks. Do you think we'll see hooper or Julio this week I think Hooper is trying to target this for his comeback. So this'll be four weeks. So hopefully Hooper will make it back for the fantasy football playoffs here. Julio is if you're Julio could've played Thanksgiving game I think with an injection. But you know he had an AC joint spraying a separated shoulder. But you know to be fair to. Julio he's their franchise is guy and it's a lot to ask someone when the team only has three wins clearly out of it to take an injection to play the game so I think Julio can and will return turn this season but only when he can play through without an injection or anything like that all right well. The latest we saw Dan Quinn said he was trending upward in terms of his availability for this week's game so we'll keep our fingers crossed on Julio Jones and obviously if he's out was certainly look at Russel Gage. Adam feeling not gonNA play tonight against the Vikings on Monday night football or excuse me against the seahawks. He won't play against the Vikings either but it's a bit of a tease for Adam feeling. I'm sure he wants to get one hundred present healthy. We've seen him have some setbacks. What are we looking at with dealing? Yeah and I think that's the point hamstrings. You can make it worse. The last thing you WanNa do is play Laham in Seattle and Havoc get worse or a setback and miss him for the rest of the arrest of December. So I think they're doing the smart thing remember number. He tried to come back early and had a setback when he started. I think the second week after his injury and then even this last week amid week he had a little bit a setback. So For me once you know shame on you for me twice shame on me so. I don't think the Vikings are going to be fooled with more setbacks. That's why they didn't even bring him on the trip to Seattle so that probably it would take away the temptation of feeling lobbying everyone to try and play but I think he does have a chance. That's next week to play okay. Fingers crossed certainly fingers crossed therefore for Adam feeling and how about. Aj Green. John Ross is going to be active this week. Aj Green will he come back. I mean we could be looking at some big weapons here for Andy Dalton but we haven't seen AJ green this year. We'll week fourteen. Be The week take. I don't know If the If the Bengals were playing for something I think A. J. Green could be ready He's probably in the nineties but he's not a hundred a month ago when everyone thought he was coming back and he said his ankles swelled up with sore. I saw him. I did see directly likely but I saw video of him working out pre game and at that point in early November I said shoot. He looked right on his left ankle at all. He's going to be another month month now. That month has passed and I think he could be ready to go but the words out of there is a green saying. Look I WANNA be a hundred percent when I come back. And that's a high threshold and with nothing really to play for right now I. I'm not sure that he plays until he really is close to one hundred percent and I thought that he would want to play to be able to show the world as the interest rate and see what he can do but in a discussion. I had serious with With Mark Dominik former jam the bucks he says if he were GM easing enough out of AJ during in the past each side into big deal just physical sight unseen on the field so You know War to think about there in terms of if it went aged green will come back.

Falcons stun Saints to end six-game skid

"On any given Sunday anything can happen. I get that. But the Falcons defense with an inspired effort. They sacked your breeze. Six Times. New Orleans didn't score single touchdown and maybe there's something about division match ups here. Mike Atlantic gets up for a game against Orleans. A snap the Saints Six Game Winning Streak Matt Ryan Twenty Thirty Five I for one eight one two and a couple of touchdowns for the saints finished with just three hundred ten yards. It's well below. The average of three seventy five is really just divisional matches because Atlanta certainly looked. Inspired up there Dan. Quinn was fired up on decent. Today I was talking about. Hey I would take the falcons in the thirteen and a half. Because I thought the Falcons would back door cover right. I never thought the Falcons would be able to hold the saints for Three for twelve third out and over three on fourth down. I mean think about that. That's remarkable right. I mean this Falcon Defense can't get any pressure. On the quarterback they had sixteen passes broken up the entire year. They can't even get their hands on the football. And yet they turn this thing around and they just stoned it and I think the hard party people think when you have a by people think that you know it gives you chance your team regroups. I think you lose your focus a little bit as a team and I think that the saints went away on their Bhai because you have to give the players four days off. They kind of read their press clippings they thought everything was okay. They're coming to play a SHITTY team like Atlanta. You know and it's not going to be that hard and we'll just we'll turn Alon whenever we need to and they got themselves caught and like you said in a divisional game these things really matter. I mean I don't think people from the northeast understand the rivalry between LEAN ATLANTA NEW ORLEANS. It goes back to when they were in the old. NFC West remember when when when the NFC west was Atlanta New Orleans San Francisco and the rams how that was the West. I I have no idea but those are the four teams right. This is years ago right this when I first started league Atlanta was in the West. This is Chris Chandler days. What era it was way back? Get Chandler Steve Barkovsky. They played the West. I mean they played San Francisco twice a year. This is a real rivalry but that game is like a college game. There's a lot of because because the cities are so close to one another and it's such a southern thing it's a rivalry game and I think obviously Atlanta played up and I mean Dan Quinn. Take your hat off to him. I mean his defense. Finally Allie showed up and played a decent game. The Sean Payton said last week if you go back to the history of its matchup regardless of records it's always been a one possession game or a score game overtime or field goal game and I'm expecting the same thing this weekend. So he was not surprised as by this result and I wouldn't be concerned about the saints. Either Mike. I'm with you. I just think he'd come off a bye. Hi It's division game you lose. It doesn't give me pause and sincerely about New Orleans. They just got beat. They got beat badly New England. I think this is the best thing that happens to him. Because Sean will be on a tangent. He'll go completely lately beserk. I mean there's so much I feel bad for who they play next week. I mean I don't know who they have. I don't have the top of my head but next week. They gotta play somebody and it's GonNa it's GonNa be a challenging game for them because they're gonNA come in and I think they're obviously you know they're going to be ready to play that game and they've got to play at a higher level. They play the Tampa Bay bucks down to Tampa. And that's another one of those that that always give the saints a lot of trouble going into Tampa Bay. Now I think this week Sean. Scott their teams full attention and he'll be able to get them. But you gotta take your head off to Atlanta Atlanta. They fought the whole game. They fought in there and they did a great

NFL Week 5 Recap

"Let's do some weekly awards here first off on the land the Atlanta Falcons into now one in four they got hammered against Texans fifteen thirty two and here's another example here's Atlanta running running p Carroll scheme you know don't work it's not working you know you can't play a lot of cover three zone you can't read the shoulder of the quarterback you can't break on the ball if you're defensive line doesn't dominate. I mean if you can't play Amanda Man Game and you can't get into it what's the falcons can the Falcons I mean Dan Quinn is going to take the heat for this but the Falcons are not very good they're eight and thirteen over the last twenty one games there now nineteen and twenty six the Super Bowl I mean at some point Arthur blank's going to have to sit there and say I can blame the coach but we're not a very good team we're just not very good team we're going to have to revamp what we're doing here we're going to rethink about how we're picking players Hauer cure town Atlanta's not one of those teams that steals they make very few trades I mean I know they traded for Cyprian and they traded they rarely make trades the metro the general manager doesn't want to go outside his draft picks he wants to just destroy he really is Ted Thompson when Ted Thompson was agreed but he wants to get players one way I don't think you can do that anymore in the NFL you know they've got Julio Jones Good player Matt Ryan declining not the same player and offensive line stinks this big win I didn't think that they could go into Houston and win but they're bad rotating I mean Matt Ryan now is ten fifteen when he goes endorsed on the road yeah thirty to forty six for three thirty three touchdowns yeah this this doesn't make any sense to me right you fired you fired Dirk Qatar because you didn't think it was good and you bring them back like why did you fire them in the first place like it make any sense like what are you doing you know and you got rid of Sarkisyan which I think was right but to me that this is this is part of the problem in the NFL there's not enough people. helping the head coach right there's nobody really helping Dan Quinn he's he's calling the defense he's trying to be the general manager he's trying to get his general manager to try to find players it's a really tough job anyone that's your Fred Palermo award the best thing going into the week Jon Gruden you gotTa give it to John I mean love you bro I mean

"I think they could good end up going five hundred or a little bit above I really do because the division again is edited and they certainly have the firepower but I am. I'm just not ready to live in a world where the buccaneers or a good football team. I don't think Gee your take on the bucks for move onto the Falcons coach. Yeah I mean I'm still flabbergasted. I guess you know we might have seen a different outcome. If Todd Gurley hadn't you know stolen stolen Sean mcvay parking spot or whatever he did to get knocked down to like five carries a game or whatever but yeah I think I think that part of this is that Sean mcvay refuses muses to play his best player a reasonable amount and then says no. We don't have him on the snap count lake. Were not dumb. You obviously do but I think that this was just one of those fluky games you know they they pop up. It really is any given Sunday. I really can't handle the idea that we've entered such bizarro bizarro timeline that the boxer all of sudden good end wall. Everything else in it are in our world is basically on fire yet. That's just something that I can't that I cannot accept. I'm not prepared to accept that so I am going to say. I think that that was an anomaly and I think that if Sean McVeigh were making some different decisions offensively offensively like running todd Gurley more. It probably wouldn't have happened so yeah. That's that's the only way that I can reconcile that game in my mind. It's a so absurd. On what planet should the buccaneers ever be scoring fifty five points on the road in the year two thousand nineteen that made the Super Bowl last year and is largely still-intact. I mean it doesn't make any sense. No and I think there is is one thing to be said about this and that is that the NFL in any given week can be completely sideways in the results you get in never ever plays out where all sixteen seventeen weeks go exactly as analysts think it will awesome in that game. I think is a perfect example of what happens in the NFL where you've got just a random outcome that may not say anything about the two teams teams involved but it for one week in this relatively short season you have the bucks scoring fifty on the road against the rams and sending them to three and one so no idea what to do with that but at this point all of of the three other teams. NFC South took home a win on the weekend win win. The Falcons lost to a team they should be falcons fall to the bottom of the division and they are looking up and wondering what to do and that's what we're going to talk about in the second second half of this podcast but before we jump into that we're gonNA take a quick break. We'll be right back. Check out the American Ninja Warrior podcast for a behind the scenes. We're back on the Falcon podcast. This is David Walker as always I'm joined by my co host Gina Thomas and our very very special guests alchoholic himself Dave choke in we're going to spend the second half of this podcast talking about what this first quarter of the season means for the Falcons for the coaches for the GM for the staff for the players because I think for many of you who were watching this team who were interacting with us on twitter who are reading the articles at the foul called Dot Com contributing articles commenting on those articles you're all asking some of the same questions and that is is. Dan Quinn now on the hot seat. Will he be fired and I think it's a fair question one in three second season row with a start like this. Dave Dave to start with the first one this one is Dan Quinn now firmly on the hot seat. I don't know maybe we should ask every barking in the background. Baxter is basically due into his little Martini L. Toy. What the Titans did that the Falcons yesterday so it's very well man i. I think you know you can't so the thing was all last year. You know not to not drag this wildly off topic but all last year you know when people were advocating for the Falcons to fire Dan Quinn you know I don't know we always defended him but we made it clear that they were not. GonNa Fire Him. We knew knew that you know it was going to be his first losing season since he took him to the Super Bowl he was gonna get another can't but I think implicit in that chance and and certainly in the moves. They made this offseason. the expectations. Arthur blank has for this team. It was clear that you know he could not survive another other bad year and we're here. We're here right now. We're watching the steam play or you know bad ugly football games there one three they have a tough stretch coming up including two road games games against the you know the NFC west in the NFC south in in the relatively near future. There's just not a lot of margin for error here and if they go into the bye week and they have a losing record you know I I don't know that he'll be fired right then but I do know that he will be fired at the end of the year at that and I think that it's probably safe with zoom. Even everything everything we've seen that that's going to happen. I think it's it's been in every column that everyone's written about this team. This week is that they don't seem to have a good answer the answer for why they can't stop playing or football and and when you don't have an answer as a head coach and you know the steps you're taking like bringing the AH the cruise in which I thought spar move aren't really panning out in your team keeps making these steaks and the injuries of stacking up a little bit you just probably are not going to survive that and I think that we just have to brace ourselves for a new Euro Falcons football because I I think this will be a big time house cleaning. Don't think it'll just be when now Gina. I think you've had some pretty very strong opinions about this. Even before the season started in our own riders chat about how things may play if the season didn't go well so I'll ask do you the same question is Dan Quinn now officially on the hot hot seat took. His seat has gotten progressively warmer but I'm going to say it was not cool coming into the season. I think Arthur blank got a taste of what it feels like to win a championship with Atlanta United and his tone about pretty much everything has changed you know now. It's a situation where blank in the past was pretty reserved about things. After this team got to the Super Bowl and blue at the way that they did I think his patience is wearing thin with not winning and so you know for him to say that he wants to win. Championships plural to the media. That's something that I would not expected to hear from him in the past and so I think that he just has developed a different mindset about this and he I think that has patience is wearing thin so oh. I think that Dan came into the season with a warm seat and I think it's probably uncomfortably toasty now. After that loss yesterday and again I mean it's something that we've we've all said in different ways small time but it's not just that they lost the titans. It's how they lost. It's the shooting themselves in the foot with the stupid mistakes at sloppy happy play looking disinterested and then it's being totally bewildered after the game like why don't know how that happened well. It happened because you played like ass like it's it's not that hard to figure out and so yeah. I think that Quincy is is. I think that I would definitely describe it as uncomfortably toasty right now yeah and I think that's I don't know that anyone can watch what happened this past Sunday and think that he's comfortably secure in his job and thinking back to the two thousand seventeen season when they were decimated by injuries. Even at that point the offense ends under Steve Sarkisian was still scoring. There were scoring thirty plus points per game in some of those losses even against the saints they it least lease looked competitive the thing that struck me from the game this weekend was it never like they were actually competitive. Against the freaking titans right that is just a devastating comment on the coaching staff players the entire kit and caboodle. I don't know that anyone is going to try to defend that and especially in the like we're starting to look back at St Sarkisian with the sense of longing you know something has gone horribly sought ways with this team. It's not good so Gina I'll go to with this this next question sort of follow up on the first one if the Falcons continue on this path where they don't look competitive to your point. They look sort of lost. They have no answers they go into the locker room in the media responses like we had a good practice. We don't know what happened. If the Falcons continue on this path do you think win could potentially fired at midseason keeping in mind. The Falcons have a bye week in week weeknights very middle of the season. Do you think that could be a jumping off point for Dan Quinn to be gone as the head coach of the Falcons. I do appreciate the my dog is going to punctuate punctuate my response with his squeaking because just seems to fit with the central urgency or yes. I do think that it's possible the Dan mm could be fired midseason. I do not think that it would happen before the via week because I do think that blank would want to give the team that time to adjust to somebody else. Could you please cool it. Mr Come come on. I'm sorry about that and so I do think if Dan Quinn were fired. I think that dirt Qatar would probably take over which by the way hey dirk called a real shitty game yesterday and so. I'm not terribly excited about that. Either I mean we dirk as a head coach in Tampa Bay for several seasons then granted the talent here is a very different level like Matt. Ryan is better than Jameis. Winston and Julio Jones's better than everybody and so. I think that it's a different situation but we know who dirk is. It's not like he's all of a sudden going to be some. You Know Maverick coach coming in here and turn things around immediately like I don't and expect anything to really change after takes over your other option is really Bob. Sutton are Mike Mularkey. I'm not thrilled with either of those options either. If you know on defense I would say the most likely person to take over as defensive coordinator is Jeff over the linebackers coach Jeff as a person. I like quite a bit. He's kind of stood stood in to the the defacto defensive coordinator Slot because they're supposed to let the media talk to the defensive coordinator once a week but since Dan quotas that Guy Hi Jeff is the one who typically does it and yeah so. I think that he's probably the one that they would tap for that role but yeah I'd I would it make a difference probably probably not I mean it. It would probably appease some fans in terms of the teams for four months. It's just going to be a law season. If they fire the coach Midway through yeah I it feels like if the Falcons get to the mid point four and four or they're three and five that to me..

"There's that fried chicken place that I really like that. I can't remember the name of rain. How are we went to angle? The eagles is the most. No, no, no. That's that's a fried chicken place. Okay. Yeah. But it's not one of those points. So there's all those places like prime whatever that everybody. What what are those places called everybody at the combine goes to? And it's like, oh, look, there's John Schneider and Steve common. It's like a if that's yeah. It's yeah. Prime forty seven. Yeah. Yeah. The worst place to see it's like the lowest rung of celebrity sightings is just go to prime during the the combine. It's like, oh, wow. It's Dan Quinn. Yeah. No, those are not going to places that accept. Except instead of Brad Pitt's Frank Reich. I think that's all we got. I. I'm gonna go kind of be with my thoughts for a little while. Okay. What you're not in Chicago. So you can't even why I am in Dallas I into dog to walk. I I could. But I'm not sure that the owner of the dog would appreciate that just explains. I'm gonna go right about some football. And again can just be alone for a little while. It's. I just want to kind of do a postmortem very quickly. Okay. This was one of the most fun bears teams of my lifetime. I loved this team. That defense was a pleasure to watch every single week. I truly believe that they can be really good again next year. I think the degree of difficulty doing not as high and I'm not banking on it. And that's why I kind of threw myself so hard into this season. What they could be. I thought these playoffs were extremely wide open and them taking advantage of that field was something they could do and something that may have been necessary. And the fact that they couldn't do that that it. They won this game this ugly that it was a insure to away from being a team that what's the divisional round and had a chance to beat the Rams everything else. It's tough. I it's gonna take a while to get over this. I'm still not sure I've processed it. But I appreciate. All of you letting me try to in your presence. Well, said thanks, buddy. All right. We'll be back on Thursday. As we always are. I will be doing that show from Dallas I'm sticking around here all week, and we'll be previewing the time. There. It is cool guys are guys. Thank you so much. Thank you, see..

"So we were ready to go. But if you'll remember like even on the Armstrong won, I wrote in our internal communications thing. I was I was like Armstrong. I guess I don't know. I really didn't think that we're going to need all three of those pre rights. But yeah here we are with Dan Quinn as the defacto defensive coordinator. And everything's wide open at the other two spots. So yeah, I mean, I think that Keith Armstrong's just been there. A long time. He was the one who's fries me the most I. I was a little bit. If he about Sark because I think he showed a lot of promise. And I think that you can't ignore the issues long the offensive line of those are fixed. You know? I think that he would look more like he did it is best this season than he did when he looks like like Sark. I didn't know how subscribe it. Marquand? I really like him. I think he's great with the players. So I was sorry that happened. But I wasn't surprised. And I mean, he had all those injuries to contend with on that side of the ball to. So it's just kind of an unfortunate situation. But here we are. Dave when you saw all three names pop up on on the news feed. What was your thought that all three guys after they got canned? Sure, it was a surprise to me because I thought he'd be there long after we were all dead and gone. You know him in queens like. Together. So it was a surprise to me. The other two were not surprised as I think that things on the wall with Sark as soon as they had that five game streak because you can see, you know, in Dan quince head between the words fast and physical being shouted really loudly. You can see him looking at that five game stretch and saying you know, that could happen again next year. Right. You know, we're going to revamp our offensive line. Sure. But if with all these weapons we couldn't score more than twenty points than that could happen again. And that was not going to be tenable. I do tend to believe him with manual when he just said he wanted to take it over. I think. Out of everybody in that building. It would not surprise me. If you know manual was the one that maybe was the seeking the most atonomy because it's it was his defense effectively wants, Dan, Quinn turned it over to them. I don't know how much input Quinn had into the day to day there..

"To the program Julio's producing tonight's program. Go just a couple of minutes. You Douglas the morning show. John had head coach Dan Quinn. Eight half minute interview just a little bit. But before we get there man just want to say at four eight. Still got four more games to play. You gotta go all out yet to try to win those games. Because that's what you paid for your paid to go out and perform and like it or not. Guys are going to be competing. Right. Gotta be competing for your for your job. Let's say let's just say mathematically, the season is over which I don't believe I'll look it up. But I think with another loss there for certain eliminated. But that being said man, you still have to go out and perform and is still competition is still about winning. And if you want to be in the running for a spot next year as part of the brotherhood. You're going to have to come out into your bus to perform because they're just looking for guys over probably wouldn't say this publicly. I would imagine that they're still looking for guys to get rid of see guys who quit. And there's not gonna be any quick in. Dan quinn. Head coach Dan Quinn. Why guys a champion champions? Don't quit. What's you've tasted that ring that success that glory, dude? You know, what it tastes to get there and to just lay down and rest guys for what? What are you arrested him for Dan Quinn? Once a needs to win. He could get no sympathy. Farage's said don't nobody feel sorry for ya. Yeah. You had injuries. But injuries are part of the game. If to find a way of overcoming them. And if you can't you just can't if you're not talented enough. You're just not talented enough get better next year in that should be the goal. But while we're waiting for next year to get here, you best believe each and every snap. These guys need to be playing at maximum effort is the bottom line. It's when you don't give maximum effort. Hey, that's when you get hurt. So still behind the falcons. Yes, it looks bleak. Yet it gets tough with your falcon family either with you're not. I just think it stinks because. We had a chance a legitimate chance coming into the year. To get a triple double right now. I did predict I'll go ahead and get Pat matab Pat myself on the back the team would obviously have the first chance at the championship would be the soccer team. Why because well. Number one. If they reach the championship it would be earlier earlier than the national championship game for college football, and it will be early to the Super Bowl. But just think of how fantastic it could have been. If the dogs did what they were supposed to do against the Alabama crimson tide and leading that game and closing it out which they weren't able to do. The falcons if I know if and what's were, berries and nuts. It would be Christmas. Every every day of the year. I get that. But but just think if we're going to play us this going to the playoffs we'd have a chance to. Play the Super Bowl here in our town. Bulldogs had an opportunity to play for the SEC championship. Actually earlier they did have a chance to play for national championship. That game was played in January. So yeah. In two thousand eighteen technically. Yeah. They had an opportunity to win. It Super Bowls here for the falcons. But I guess technically that will be in twenty nineteen. And then, of course, what's going on with the soccer team. So right now the soccer team and lighting. See that's our best bet. That's team we need to rally behind for this upcoming Saturday. I mean, there should be issued be tons of people waiting outside who can't get into the arena. Can't get in the Mercedes Benz. All those supposed to be raining. I guess. All right. Hey listened radio replay town. Let's get into it. Dan quinn. He was on with you Douglas. Let's get to that interview. Right now. Dan, Quinn who joins us on the wait for dot com. Hotline monetary coach. Hey, good morning. John. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Cost me a John were kicking around. This story by vomit this morning. And I just want to ask you this question real quick giving the hits that that Matt Ryan has taken this year. Is there any thought about pulling them off for the last couple of games? No, hell, no. We're going to fight you know, that and everything we do match right at the front of it. And so what we gotta do. We gotta do a better. And I don't expect to stay at that level. I expect that number to go down when we do what we do better in that play actions and boots and running the ball. So no that is not part of our thought our discussion in anyway, you know, code that kind of leads to my next question. I want to ask because we you know, the the run game has been a bit of a struggle this year. And could you talk about why do you why do you think that is that because of the the boot actions and everything else that you couldn't that that doesn't happen on the field? No, I don't think it's a reflection of the play action at all. I think you know, we started slow I thought then we kinda hit, you know, a better spot where we were able to run it better. And then over the last four weeks slowed way down again. And so I anticipate that Reverend backup we're working like crazy to get that part of our game. Correct. And it's not to the standard that we've set at all. But it does establish everything that we'd like to do. So it does start from there, Hugh. You're right. And then it allows some of those other things to be eating better that play pass the boots and keepers really a part of our offense. Where a lot of our exclusive passes come from or in news on the play patches. But in the run game that is not the standard. We set for ourselves. So we're keep digging on that if it was just one thing, we'd certainly hit that one show rookie big, man. That's what we do to try and get it. Right. And we got no chance to added this weekend. With head coach Danquah the Atlanta Falcons ahead of the falcons a Packers. On sundays. The second time this year you had to go in on the road Cleveland and now Green Bay where you've had to face a team that has changed head coaches right before your game. Of course, Cleveland from Hugh Jackson to Greg Williams. Now, of course, Mike McCarthy to Joe Philbin. And you saw the Cleveland game. Coach a lotta unscheduled looks is that something you have to prepare for this week potentially with Joe Philbin. Yes, I think you do and they've got a huge playbook to begin with. So you know, when you have Aaron Rodgers under center for this long. They got a full complement of things that they can do and Joe has been there, you know, in two different stints, I believe with Green Bay. So he's got buying experience. And I would say likely they've got enough scheme that there will be some on scouted ones. But something they have for sure, you know, heading into it. So we're preparing like I said we played these guys I'm in the past. But they've got a big big package at it'll take us all the way through the week to get our. Roger still wanted a better quarterbacks in the NFL coach. Yeah. One hundred percent you and it ability with the accuracy. He's got just one interception on the year. I mean, how difficult that is. So he can make all the throws and knows that he can because he doesn't put the ball into spots where you know, there's a chance to get tech. Egypt has that kind of accuracy to you know, to deliver in the right space. So yeah. One hundred percent, I believe that he is talking with head coach, Dan Quinn. But the falcons and the Packers on Sunday one o'clock at Lambeau Field. What is Lambeau? I gotta tell you coach one of the few stadiums. I have not been to. And it's always bothered me as lambofield I've never had a chance to get up to their up there. What is lambofield like what does lambofield like in December? Good environment at any time lots of history there, but more than anything, man. Like the biggest thing is coming back out of there with the w. Yeah, that's really the only focus in where we're at. And how we gotta go tack but from football bar mint. You know, just like you like in battle for you. I'm sure you've had some good battles air through the years. Good spot to play more Nathan come back with a win, of course, falcons-packers knocking heads here. This is a battle that the falcons have had the better of a and you and you had as you mentioned with Aaron Rodgers managed to be able to. I don't know if you contain him, but you actually get the better of him and some of those key games in the past. And now, you go up against a team that as you said just got it looks, and you're not really sure what you're going to be facing when you get into Green Bay, and that's to be difficult. But now defensively you guys are kind of really started to, you know, feel your oats a little bit. That's you know, as as we look through this losing skid here coach, you know, you start to pick apart try and find the good things here and you've seen some growth on your defense is stood up at times. Pretty good. The ability to hold teams to field goals. That's obviously a big thing. And so that was the case on Sunday. But we've got to do a better job. You know, we can still improve on third down and that turnover margin can really approve. So, you know, for some fumbles in the last game, we only got one. But I love that we scored I love the fans did to just a strain of the guy leading to go get blocks to get dick in the end zone. So those are things definitely that. I'm seeing pickup and definitely something that we can improve in the fourth quarter of the season. How good was it to have the Jones back out on the field? Coach, you know, why he was awesome man, the energy that he brings as a team mate, you know, had to play caller the alerts and he plays with such speed. And he was one of the guys that really attacking the ball to go. So I was expecting him to take a while to get back into. But he was such a factor right off the bat. So we're pumping them back and good news for him. He came through the game, just fine. And he was. Happy as anybody to be sore after the game, you know from play and not. Understood or anything, but just from playing started a little bit. If you could coach about the the health of the team going into the game. Going one that didn't come through in the way that we wanted with Josh Harris, though, he's been continuing to deal with a hip injury that just wasn't improving and so we put Josh on. I r and so with that injury. We signed veteran John condo egg along snapper longtime snapper in the league. And, you know, glad to welcome him into into the team and get rolling with him. You know, what does that mean? You know such an unsung position and Josh has been doing it. You know, so long and I trust you'll be okay the spot. But boy, that's one of those things have fans, you know, you don't think about the long snapper, sorta like, you know, you don't think about you know, the the the referee until he kinda injects himself into the game. Or makes a mistake. I mean until he does everything is just, you know, spot on he hasn't missed much. If at all that I could ever think of he does an excellent job in the punt yet here the snap. And obviously that protection and then in field goal. You know, they get so technical John like, you can imagine address. Snapper to deliver the ball to the holder, you know, with the Lakers are positioned up. So when he places the ball down the Lakers are out like that the level of detail that snappers go into can they deliver the ball with their rotation..

"So great chat with Dan Quinn right there. And one thing that he, he said that I, I want to spend a little bit more time on here is that he does not believe that the helmet rule could be this year's catch rule. And by that, I mean that there's so many different interpretation, right? And that officials aren't on the same page about it and that it will cause problems when games are on the line and it'll drive fans nuts when they don't understand why flag was called on a play. And by the way, it's not just defensive players hitting people, it's offensive players. It's like, if let you say there's a pitch play k. and Alvin Kamara just as an example goes around the end and boom, fifty yard gain, huge your fantasy team. If your saints fan for your saints team flag on the play, what's a four? Well, it it's going to be something out of the violation of this use of the helmet rule. It's a fifteen yard penalty, loss of fifteen yards of the foul by the defense. It's also an automatic first down player could be jetted to, depending on certain standards. And if an offensive lineman goes ahead and lowers his head to a. Initiate and make contact with his helmet against an opponent, which is the language contact doesn't have to be doing opponents head or neck area, lowering the head in initiating contact to an opponent's torso hips were lower bodies also felt and want you to use your helmet is a weapon that's in. That makes total sense. Let's get the game. Safer. Lets us. Let's use the game for the. Let's use your body to make tackle your shoulder, not the crown. Your helmet. In violation of the rule according to the league will be easier to see an officiant when they occur in open space as opposed to close line play. But the rule applies anywhere on the field of the time. There could be a fifteen yard penalty for a guard, pulling down a field initiated contact down the field and a running play that you just saw gets wiped out. That's entirely possible this year. Okay. And you know, I, I don't know if QB sneaks are going to be in this as that. They're not looking for the quarterback to lowers helmet making contacting flagging on a on a fourth and inches play, but I'm assuming that that's possible. So I'm concerned when the eagles say, hey, the refs came in this week and said, this is a foul and another ref said that's not a foul, but they're not on the same page it..

"I think there could be something that happens this year mike and the reason i stayed at his they're getting together again today this afternoon the competition committee to kind of finalized some thoughts to to bring back to the owners one last time so i think that could be something i think the change isn't going to be a radical one but the small changes kind of like you know suggested moving the back line up is it you know more of the two men wedge type things which would basically in some ways take rid of some of the offensive lineman who are back on the wedge and use that as more you know the typical special teams you know linebackers db's running backs that crew in that base thank god on that talking to dan quinn on the shell pennzoil performance line i'm interested how much conversation about this do you hear from players just because for so many guys this is a way to break into the league for guys that are backups and a lot of those skill and big skill position this is how they i get onto the field i drift with the team yesterday i i've gotten back into you know kind of talk to the team and just about you know what we discussed and so from a concern standpoint there shouldn't be because we're gonna have the same amount of special teams plays and i think in a positive way if we can you know really you know keep pushing this you know to you know really reduced the amount of concussions like that's our number one job is teachers which are coaches so we kind of made the pack they some of us let's make some you know training tapes basically at each position you guys by sat and team meetings and like for both you might have shown like a dvd doing.
