"Then they're going to be terrible. And that's not wrong, because of course that has not been terrible. And so they've been very good. So also they've had the massive defensive improvements. Right. You know, I mean, I hate the cowboys, you know, as much as I hate the Yankees. And but it's hard to argue with the results right now. I mean, they've been a very, very, very good football team. Yeah, that was one thing I was right about. Yeah, I guess my theory being that, you know, dak is good if he's healthy. You know, the weapons are very impressive between lamb and Cooper. Like, not only a lot of good White House but why don't you do different things, which makes it harder to gain plot against them. You know, and also like Dan Quinn is another put essential like, you know, the fact that he's not a good head coach doesn't mean he's not a very good coordinator. And that's one thing Dallas really needed was somebody from outside the organization or whip that defense into shape and Quincy seems to have done that. So that's actually done surprise me. Although I will, what I was wrong about the yeast is that I definitely did not anticipate the eagles being this competitive. Part of the reason I thought Dallas is easy, 'cause I just thought the other three teams would be hideous. That actually, the eagles have been pretty competitive. And hertz is kind of gone from a guy who just puts up decent fantasy numbers to a guy who actually has been not bad. You know, like I wouldn't say good, but you know, certainly better than I, you know, as good as Daniel Jones, let's say. He's been pretty he's been pretty consistent. He's been pretty inconsistent. Yeah. The thing about the eagles is that they're four and two on the road and zero and four at home. But for that matter, the niners are three and one on the road in Owen Ford home. So there's a light dick Allen. I mean admittedly, if I had to, if I had to commute to Santa Clara, I'd probably want to lose at home too. Yeah. Yeah, my point about Stafford is that not like, you know, I thought he would be he was clearly gonna be upgrade over golf, which in a sense for the rams is all that matters. You know, I'm still not convinced that he's a truly great quarterback, but the way to look at it is that if mcvay could get decent results out of Jared Goff, you should be able to get, you know, very good results out of Stafford, which I think is what happened. So, you know, I mean, and I will say this the rams are, you know, you know, like if you're gonna go in, go all in. You know, they are doing it right. You can't do that half ass. And what's the big difference to the AFC west right now is that, you know, the rams trade two first round picks for Jalen Ramsey, the Seahawks play two first round picks for the world's smallest outside line..

"No, dead for 5 and 5. And I'm pretty, I'm pretty disappointed in how the Broncos a year is going. It's just not been good. And very, very frustrating. Number 5, the Dallas Cowboys dominated the falcons 43 to three. It was a great win for Dallas coming off of a bad loss last week to Denver. And cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, used to be the head coach of the falcons last year. We got fired. And so in this game, it felt like, hey, Dan Quinn got his revenge. It was cool to see. It appeared like he used his knowledge of the falcons quarterback. His former quarterback Matt Ryan to make Matt Ryan suffer. Oh my gosh, Matt Ryan. He was 9 for 21 passing. Had a 117 yards, which is pretty good for 9 completions. But he had two interceptions. It was ugly. This score three points all day, and then the backup quarterback came in for the falcons. Josh Rosen, hey, remember that guy? Josh Rosen. He's still the NFL. He was one for 6 passing. He also had an interception. It was a completely dominating win by the Dallas Cowboys. And good to see for them to come back and bounce back after a really bad loss during NFL week 9. Number 6 the page rates droid. The Cleveland Browns 45 to 7. Remember that the Patriots head coach Bill Belichick used to coach in Cleveland. He got fired, and every time the Patriots play Cleveland, he punishes them. The Patriots, by the way now, are 6 and four. They've won four games in a row. I've been saying this and I think other people are starting to agree with me, New England looks like a playoff team. They're playing very good football Mac Jones. They're young, rookie quarterback gets better and better every week. He's the real deal. Against the browns Mac Jones. What a great performance. Efficient, clean, really high level play, he was 19 for 23, with a 198 yards and three touchdowns, the Patriots have found the replacement to Tom Brady. It was not Jimmy Garoppolo as he probably thought it would be a couple years ago for Bill Belichick. But now they have Mac Jones and it is a home run. He's fantastic..

"Is how the jets adjust. How many times have we seen a quarterback or rookie quarterback or it doesn't even have to be working? Just a guy playing for the first time and he looks good for like the first year, year and a half. Right. Then you kind of see him, you know, things level out. And this is the first. I feel like this year, you know, it's like yo see it in movies. Like to stereotypical like baby books like babies first steps, babies, first this baby's first vomit, baby's first, whatever. Like, I feel like we're making one of those scrapbooks. This show is just a scrapbook for Mac Jones this year. Like rookies first touchdown pass rookies first interception. Rookie's first sack. So this week is rookie's first time facing a team twice. Right. The first time he's played a team that's played him before, and it's the first time a team has been able to prepare for him after seeing him in person. I just, I find that narrative really interesting. I do. I'm curious, I don't know what's going to come of it. I think it could go a number of different ways, but it's a new test for Mac Jones. And this is what this year is all about for him. It's how he handles the new things that are thrown at him. You don't face teams twice. Very, very rarely. Do you face teams twice a year in college? And I'm trying to remember who Alabama played in the conference championship. His year and it was Florida and they didn't play Florida during the regular season. So yeah, so he's at least since high school. He's never faced a team twice in a season. He's never faced a team twice, because he only started really one year in college. So it's going to be really interesting to see how he handles this now the opponent handles it. Right. So it's interesting because the jets are not a big time game plan defense, right? They kind of do what they do a weekend and week out. But I do agree that there is something to be said for that. And you look at also what Mac did in week two against his defense, he did not play a very good game. So what are the jets do? Do they know max going to make some adjustments? They know McDaniels is going to call the game a little bit differently this time around. So Robert sala kind of does what he does. They play 70 or so percent zone. They're not really a man heavy defense. Maybe they will play more men last week against Dallas. They played more man. The cowboys did and they usually do. They played a ton of cover one against the Patriots. So maybe solid looks at that tape. Looks at Dan Quinn, who he knows pretty well, same kind of coaching tree there from Seattle and maybe they play some more man coverage against the Patriots this time around and they did last time knowing that McDaniels is going to have some of those zone beaters ready and is going to have some of the things ready that. Atlanta had success with Atlanta. You look at that game plan for the falcons and Matt Ryan almost through for 400 yards against his defense a couple of weeks ago in London, a really attacking the middle of the field he was 8 for 9 for a hundred and something yards attacking that middle ten to 1210 to 20 yard range in the middle of the field..

"I like what you said about mccarthy a lot and i totally agree i think dan quinn coming back going back but coming in was awesome for the defense a twenty nine in this game but there were a couple of key stops the where impressive But you gotta think that kellen moore is going to get a head coach offer sooner than later so if i'm dallas like i don't lose him. So what do you have to lose by letting mccarthy go in giving kellen were the head coaching title. I mean that way you lock him like you're not gonna lose them and you get rid of your liability. Which is your coax right now. So i think they should give killing more look at head coach personally yet. And i mean i as a pakistan having mike mccarthy those last years were horrible i wanted him out and you could still tell that. He's he's awful. I'm just gonna say. He sucks like he. Straight up sucks and i definitely one hundred percent agree. That's why i did not think the cubs are going to do so good. This year was because i thought that their head coach was horrible. I did not agree. But i mean they've still been impressive in no need to kind of be the hate one but like i mean also how the cowboys done. The playoffs like i mean. They're they're really good the season but it really just council on the playoffs and i mean i don't know if they in the playoffs they they look good. But i don't know history's repeating itself. Hopefully maybe feel like those strings can be broken. Like i mean andy. Reed's playoff reputation. Kinda made people a little cautious and then they came back on everybody in won the super bowl. So yeah yeah. That's that's a good point. And we've seen a lot of coaches like that. If you go back to bill cower. He was another guy that was always in the playoffs. Always had a very good team in couldn't breakthrough until he had his quarterback and it looks like well mccarthy does have a ring of course but with that being said i do think he's the weak link on this team but as far as the cowboys as a whole and breaking through. This might be the year. But i still think they haven't really been overall. I don't think they've been tested that much. I kind of alluded to this with the chargers and the bucks being the two best teams. They've played clearly because the rest of their games..

There were times where he looked like a rookie playing in the nfl for the first time and then there are other times where he clearly flashed and you could see the athleticism If if i told you that an nfc east team is going to win. More than eleven games. Would you be shocked and be. Who would it be. I don't wanna be prisoner of the moment. i think it would be dallas. Maybe they figure things out defensively You know they don't have that. I play schedule. So i mean granted for dallas right there. Crossover is new england on the road. So it's not like they get a pass In that regard the eagles get the chats. Everyone else gets a pretty hard opponent there But they get. I believe arizona if i remember correct Nfc west But i think with that offense. I mean my god i mean they have so many freaking weapons all over the place and i i think this feeling on them is in my opinion the highest of anyone in the in the division because maybe dan quinn can start figuring things out maybe like the parson Is a you know can become what we all kind of expect him to become so. "Is really going to be better than they were last year. I think this is a team. That's looking pretty much like last year's team. Where if they get a couple of lucky breaks. I could see them getting a wildcard. You know they went eight eight last year. I could see them. Getting ten and seven. But i could see them. Also having some bad breaks being six and eleven or something like that you know i don't i don't see the ridiculous upside because kingsbury is going to limit them. I agree and they start out the season against tennessee. That's gonna be just a physical physical game. And they go minnesota jacksonville the rams the forty niners and the browns. That's a rough start to the schedule of your arizona. There's some physical games mixed in there. I think the rams game is obviously going to be tough for niners. It'll be tough. The browns have one of the best rosters in the entire. Nfl like it could get ugly early in arizona. Let's go to los angeles next since we just snuck them in there as well. I think the rams are the favorites to win the division. I've said it. Many times. I think matthew stafford is going to be an absolute monster when you combine him with. Sean mcveigh. that's probably the thing. You and i differ on the most when it comes to the nfc west because you are not a stafford guy. At all. I think their defense will take a couple of steps back. They've lost some starters. They're not as deep. they're not nearly as deep as the forty niners because of the way their team is kind of structured. They have a lot of good top end talent but because of that and how much that costs they don't really have the guys behind it I just think that they're going to be able to make up for those shortcomings offensively. And so i have the rams as the favourite to win the nfc west. Think who's the favorite is a toss up between them and the forty niners which seok fans won't like to hear but we'll get to them in a bit the rams so they're by far the most notes i have because i think there's a part to this the nobody's really looking at because everybody's looking at the rams and going well there attendance six last year and they added matt stafford got a huge upgraded quarterback. So they're going to be ridiculously good while the problem is is that they were an average defense in two thousand nineteen. They brought in a new defensive coordinator and brandon staley. Who was so ridiculously good. That he became the head coach or not san diego. The los angeles chargers they lost him. So how far are they gonna fall back to what they work in two thousand nineteen they were. I think i got seven. Yeah they're seventeenth overall in points allowed defensively and they went all the way to number one was daily. Virtually the same defense you know. They added randy halfway through that. Twenty nineteen season so that is a big change. but it's not enough to leap from seventeenth and points a lot i right. It's not like one. Cornerback was allowing all touchdowns and then they got right. When ramsey that a lot of that is on steely so you gotta look at who replaced him and this is where. I got a laundry list of things because who replaced him. I don't think people have really looked deep enough into brahim morris as a defensive coordinator. Now there's not much to look into because he was actually only coordinator for five games. And then dan quinn got fired and he got promoted up to being the interim head coach for the remainder of the year. But i got. I got to say the five games he did if you look at them. They're really bad. And listen to this so in those five games. He was the defensive coordinator in the first five games. He gave up thirty eight points. The seahawks they average twenty nine on the season he gave up forty to the cowboys. They average twenty five now. They lost deck. They didn't know they still had back in game but they gave up thirty two. The bears thirty to the packers. Twenty three to the panthers overall they gave up thirty two points per game in the eleven games that he was the head coach and a former forty niner. Jeff over was the defensive coordinator catch jeff over. They only gave up twenty three points per game. They improved by almost ten points per game when he stopped being the defensive coordinator. So how good is he really and if he's not a really really really good defense coordinator. There's going to be some serious regression to that defense. Probably to at the least the level that the offense gets better. This is the other weird thing. And i just found this out Listening to john middlekauff. Three now podcast. Remorse is gonna run brandon. Staley's defensive system mcvay wanted to keep it the same because they were so good at it last year but the problem with that is he doesn't have any experience. Coaching brandon the daily system. So instead it's like a it's a weird situation because usually like you bring in a defensive coordinator. He knows the system. He has to then teach it to the players. Well in this situation the players know the system and he's the one that has to learn the new system that that's weird maybe to work. I have no idea. But i it's just not the normal thing that we see. So you're right. I think that there are some some red flags with the rams defense in the cherry on top of all this is yes in the five games that he coached you know they had the seahawks and the packers those two pretty good offenses in the eleven games the jeff rick was the defensive coordinator and gave up more than nine points less per game. They played the saints twice the bucks twice and the chiefs wants so a half the games that he was the defense coordinator. They played the top three offenses in the league. And yet they improved by that much. I think remorse is going to be a disaster. The defensive coordinator so you think that cancels out any bonus they get for matt stafford right and you know. I'm a little lower on that than others so i. I'm not convinced. The rams are better. Where is jeff o'brien coaching. That's.

"Would say the cowboys i don't like dak prescott i haven't ever liked dak prescott. I think he's a good serviceable quarterback knocking him. I just don't ride with them. I don't bet with him. i don't trust him. He's got a lot of weapons but the offensive line without zack. Martin is significant loss. Because here's how the game goes in my mind. Defensive line pins ears back and they go after the running game. And these shutdowns zeke then the linebackers and devon white and company. They all get to fill the gap and when dad is throwing prescott is going to get lit up. And that's where. If i'm the cowboys i'm really concerned i love dak prescott to throw a pitch tonight over half a pick shop around on that prop you can find that at minus one twenty five thirty one thirty five depending on where it is. I love dak to throw a pick tonight. I i really do think he's going to throw a pick. What's interesting is that the cowboys. Think they're key is their defense. Which i go to steven jones this morning on the fan in dallas talking about trying to rattle tom brady obviously we hadn't seen Demarcus lawrence all preseason and You know that was the plan In terms of making sure he's one hundred percent but have a lot of confidence in what coach quin is done with this group. I think the the unit as a whole has a tremendous amount of confidence that they can go out. There communicate execute and play hard and play fast with great pace. And i think that's what you have to do against a great quarterback like this. I mean it's hard if there's anybody in the league. It's hard to make uncomfortable. It's tom brady and certainly we're gonna have our hands there but Also have a lot of confidence in our group that they're prepared and they're gonna come ready. That's like the most tom brady of tom. brady comments. How many years are we going to listen to people. Say you got tom brady. Got tom brady. The problem is you're not going to rhino. Tom brady tonight okay. He has his full offensive line. There back there healthy. The bucks aren't going to be healthier than they are right now. Because chris godwin is going to play tonight off the injury list. He's good to go. They have everybody they have. Oj howard they have grunk. They've got everything they've got came and break. They've got mike mike evans. They've got chris godwin. They've got antonio brown. I mean they got everybody the whole offensive line and they've got the running backs in. They have brady up against that swiss cheese defense. You're telling me that. Just because dan quinn is the dc now that the cowboys are going to have this new look. I don't see it. And here's the thing i know pros. It's different than the college game. I get it and i know. Everyone's like all the distractions. And i don't think there's this ceremony. Tonight is going to be distraction. They didn't get to celebrate with their fans. They didn't have sold out stadium. They didn't play in front of their fans all year. Even in the super bowl they played in a twenty five thousand people that's it this is full-throated fully drunk. Crowd tonight for tampa. The energy in this building is going to be on believable tonight. And i don't think dallas has much of a chance i really don't and look i've been wrong before and this is why books make money and this is why the nfl is what the nfl is. Because they pay their players to and the cowboys are a proud organization but talking about dak prescott of an ankle and anna shoulder with out his best offensive lineman without the ability to pass protect or really run up against a run defense. That's absolutely stout that defensive line for the typically bucks being healthy yup you saw in the super bowl jeeves. Couldn't run on it. Made them one dimensional. And then they're able to go back and play coverage and they held the chiefs to one of their lowest outputs in the era for patrick mahomes. I don't think dallas scores tonight. In fact i could see them. Getting blanked in the first half. That's why i laid the four and a half points tonight in the first half i think they get blanked. I don't think that they play anywhere near the level that the bucks are going to be at even right out of the gate. I just don't see it so if you're and a half you bet nine to take the cowboys i just don't see it. I just don't get it and maybe you are smarter than me and maybe you see something. I don't maybe the cowboys and all you cowboy. Lovers are going to be wrong or right. And i'm going to be wrong and you can text me in tweet me and say i'm an idiot and i'm dead wrong but i i'm smart enough to know what i don't know about that. I mean, it's just look, it worked, it worked in Seattle with all that talent like generational talent on defense when quarterbacking was not quite to the level it is right now around the league. And also the offensive coordinators weren't. I mean, you know, the amount of Kyle Shanahan deciphers that around the league that have been on the same staff. I mean, Shanahan was on the same staff with Dan Quinn. Like all those guys have the keys to the car to drive over these guys. And I just think, look, Dan Quinn, I love the guy really nice guy. I go back with him to dolphins. Great energy. But, you know, they don't have the personnel to pull off this defense in Dallas. And I think they are just going to get flat out. And mind you, Brady kills this defense. So I think the bucks are gonna rip through the cowboys tonight and it's just the taste of things to come. Relatively speaking. I need to say that. The Washington defense. I think people look at Washington's defense and say, oh, they're going to be top three top four in the league, maybe. I think they're going to be good. And they could even be really good by the end of the year. But I have to look at last year's schedule. They played an easy peasy one two three Z schedule when it comes to quarterbacks. They played a bunch of backups. They played a bunch of guys who would just ham and eggers. They're schedule was just so easy last year. They have a much tougher schedule this year. I think they will have slight regression. So I think people expect them to be even better. I think they might take a step back because of that schedule. And red zone defense was really good, which is kind of off and on every year to year. And you know, some other defensive metrics are very tough to repeat that they did last year being in the top 5 or 6. So I think Washington's defense takes a slight step back underrated, Greg. I think Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas and maybe you know maybe I fall into the hard knocks curse that and this often happens like I see a guy in hard knocks and I'm like, wow, that guy looks really good. He's gonna be great this year. And I thought Zeke looked really good. I mean, the year before, I don't know, we looked out of shape. He looked fatty, wasn't that good? He looks ready to go. "Max your up. I this concern you yes it does. I mean look. I don't like preseason period. I wish they'd get. Because the only thing i care about in preseason his please get hurt on my team right anyway. I want to get him. And so the fact that he's not playing reduces it minimizes injury risk. Do i want more ready to play or do i want to make sure that leg is healthy because we saw pretty solid mid pack quarterback even behind an awful offense line with no saquon last year. Then he hurt his leg and he was awful. He was terrible right. I'd rather have him healthy. The thing that bothers me. Most though from what. I've seen with the giants so far as i was picking them to win the division. I'm not moving off it yet. But i just assume over time the offensive line will improve has not looked like it. Has you know it was picking who to win the division. What do the giants are the second best team in the division and the second best defensive team and so while. they're not as good offensively as the cowboys. They're much better defensively. Same thing on the other side with washington. But i thought they'd be better off the offensive line. Still doesn't look fixed. it's still like really bad. And that's going to hurt saquon which is going to hurt daniel jones and also makes me think it increases injury risk during the preseason so so where i come out on it is i wish they had fixed the offensive line. "So so now you're at least tied for the best in terms of the quarterback in the division, and that's a great place to start. So If I'm Philadelphia, because he's so young guys, I would give up multiple first round picks. Can we do this? Without everything solved. Can we? Can we do it? Their elite. Yeah, I think that's fair. And if you look at the defensive side, their first five picks were on defense. Start with Michael Parsons at Penn State. And here's some irony Guys when Dan Quinn went to the Atlanta Falcons in 2015 as the head coach, the defensive coordinator that was replaced was Mike Nolan. Now you fast forward to 2021, Last year's defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys was Mike Nolan. I'm a big believer in Dan Quinn. I think you'll have a meaningful impact our that difference and and guys even they get to middle of the pack. Right. This is gonna be a really hard team to beat. One of the reasons I'm not overly concerned about the office of line staying healthy. Three offensive line before offensive line and they don't get hurt in a single year. I thought, I mean, he has assembled a roster pretty routinely that had Some great talent and arguably some of the best talented football and it was good enough to get to the playoffs multiple times and also get to a Super Bowl as a one seed and have an NFL N v P at quarterback. And I think to me the problem lies not with Dimitrov's. Roster, which certainly a times had holes on it, but also seemed to draft a lot of good talent and develop it, but with the head coach that Dan Quinn and taking away guys like Kyle Shanahan as the offensive coordinator Consistently got farther and farther away from effectiveness. And that either Dimitrov for Arthur Blank was ever decision. It was wouldn't fire Quinn. And by not firing Quinn. They got worse and worse and worse to where they are right now. It is definitely a desirable job. And I don't think any team really should have untouchables. And so what? Arthur Blank is saying here I agree with he is saying Look, Matt Ryan and Julio Jones had been part of this organization for a long time. But If somebody has a plan to win And part of the plan is moving on from these players. Who am I to stand in the way I want to win, And if that's the plan, that's gotta be the plan. I just think that It's a tough reality because there's I'm sure Falcons fans that love both of those players and can't imagine the Falcons without both of those players, and certainly Julio Jones is still one of the best. Wide receivers and football and Matt Ryan's the best quarterback that franchise has ever had. But If a GM steps in and says Look, Here's Here's the five year plan. And it begins with moving Matt Ryan salary off the books or trading Julio Jones getting this and this and this for him and then using that resource to do this. This and this And Arthur Blank says. I like the vision. You can't say Well, we like your vision, but You can't do that part. He's got to be all in So this is why I respect Arthur Blank in how he runs his franchise. This is why I think the Falcons is a very desirable team to work for. And this is why I think you you might see 2021 Atlanta Falcons. That doesn't have one or both of these guys. Now The one thing I didn't agree with when I read Arthur Blank statements was that he wanted to win short term and he wanted to win long term that he wanted to be better in 2021. But also a plan for winning long term. Now, bridging those is hard. When you've fallen on hard times a team like the Browns canoeing it because the Brown said talent that was not tapped into and and I think the right coach could do that in Atlanta as well.
