"Almost tripped Rihanna. Yeah, he was almost the most hated man in Hollywood this morning. 'cause yeah, he did. He almost made Rihanna fall. Dan, my life flashed in front of me. She was walking in and you know, we've just been with her at the Super Bowl, just did an interview where he's so excited to see her. She was walking by. She turned to give us love and lost her balance. Kevin's fault. It's almost as bad as Chris maloney. Dan, I will, I'm going to talk to Chris for you, man. I'm going to talk to Chris for Joe. He must have got confused or something. I know. Kevin, I walked over and I said, hey, Chris, Dan Patrick, sportscaster. And he goes, okay. Now, I know I'm dead. I know I'm dead when he goes, oh, okay. And then I just hung out there that cage is hung in the air. Yes. And it was capital O and Kay. And it wasn't. And it wasn't okay. No, it was all bad. I could see the words and I wanted to grab them and bring them back. And then you had to go tell your kids what I saw. They watched. They were right there with me. Oh, they were standing there. Yes, they wanted to meet him. I played I played the I'm a celebrity. He's a celebrity. He's obviously going to know who I am. Girls, come on over. Let's meet him. Oh my daughters were so excited. You can never tell your kids anything ever again now. 'cause they're gonna be like, yeah, whatever. You know. Michelle. What is that the equivalent? You know what that's the equivalent of Dan? And we were talking about this yesterday on the red carpet. When publicists come on with like the person who's there for like editing. Yeah. And they walk up with the dude right behind him. And it's like, check with us beforehand 'cause we don't want to break your heart. They walk up in there. I actually told him. I know him. I know, I know Kevin, I can get this for you. And they walk over and they say, pear, are you interested in so and so nominated for editing and we're like, I'm sorry, we're good. We're gonna pass. And they have to turn around. And that person's staring daggers at us. What was the guy for the musical guy? The score. The guy who did the score for the fable means was the favorite one. Oh, I don't remember what film I was calling him out. All he was told. No, no, one fable miss. That was John Williams. But I'm gonna say it was somebody who was really mad at us, yeah. Well, thank you for making me feel worse. And I look forward to you sending in the bracket. And if you talk to Chris, just tell him, hey, you know, sorry. I don't know what I did or didn't do, but I mean, he is a sex symbol. I wonder if I say Dan Patrick, will he know who Dan is? Chris maloney's behind has like its own Instagram, but it's legendary now. Well, he didn't stand up. He was seated. I wasn't able to go to Chris, turn around. Yeah. I see it. I think if Dan had their cake in. I think if Danny said all the movies he'd been in. And some of those Adam Sandler. I'm in Adam Sandler movie. It wouldn't have mattered. It would not have mattered. But that's okay. Okay, that's a tough okay. That's a toughie. But you know what? We should all get humbled. And it's okay. It's okay. Yeah. That's your Shaquille O'Neal thing. Shaquille always says, if he could shoot free throws, nobody would be able to tell him anything because he'd been the greatest thing ever. So he needed that to keep him humbled. That's what you needed. You needed that to keep you humbled. Now I know Kevin could outshoot Shaq from the line. You might be able to out shoot check. You can totally out. That's easy. Yeah, that's a 100%. And I'm terrible. So I can totally out shoot them from the Patrick shut the hell up. Hey, thank you. Patrick shut the hell up. Thank you for joining us, guys. And a way to get your bracket. Thank you guys. It's coming. It's coming. All right. We're gonna call Chris right now. Let's call it. Chris, our man. Thank you. Kevin, I'm a Frasier from Entertainment Tonight. Yeah, they really cheered me up there, didn't they? Yeah, well, I wish you can't see what you should have saw that her face. Oh my kids are with me. She goes, oh no. I know. Oh no. I know. I love that. Kevin Frazier meeting. He's like, oh, really? 'cause I've had dinner with him. I call him right now and be like, yo, what's up, man? What happened? You don't know DP? That's okay. That's okay. His smile to hear this story said it all. Jerks. I'm gonna be watching Billy Bush. Hey, there's no reason to get rude right now. "You've got to look at Mike Trout and go, do I want this? I mean, you know, Mike. I think my trout looks at my trout and says, do I want this? And remember, Mike Trout's got the biggest contract in baseball history at 426 and a half $1 million, but Mike Trout also hasn't been to the playoffs since 2014. Against cancer. And in that playoff series, the angels got swept. So Mike trap is a decade plus stand into his career and still has not won a playoff game. So these are fair questions to ask. And I don't anticipate Mike Trout asking out anytime soon, but man, if Shohei Ohtani were to leave, just what punch to the gut, that would be for this organization. Frankly, was given a gift in Todd and company over. I mean, there is no player in baseball history who has been as underpaid as he is relative to where he would be on the open market. And I think we're going to see that this off season when his contract starts with the number 5 and potentially like this is wild to say maybe even the number 6. Talking to Jeff passon ESPN senior baseball insider. How good of a month was this for Major League Baseball? Oh my gosh. So let's go over the three high points to me. Number one, the WBC was awesome. I don't care who you root for. There's always something about when professional athletes play for their countries, whether it's the World Cup, the Olympics, that brings out something different in them, like a side of them that they may not have recognized. Part of that is being with a team of guys who are all stars and who are the best in their field. But part of it also is culture and heritage and that deep place that it holds inside of our souls. And so I saw a different sort of intensity in March, which you never see in baseball. It is the most lackadaisical laid back slow month on the calendar because you're just playing out the string until opening day. So to have those games in the WBC, I think a lot of people are going to be looking forward to the world baseball classic when it comes back in 2026. Today, you've got the pitch clock and the band shift and the bigger bases. And the lack of pick off moves that are going to fundamentally change baseball. And I'm not exaggerating when I say this. It's not just the 25 minutes of game time that got shaved off during spring training. It's the fact that it's a brand of baseball that's a lot closer to what you saw in the 70s and 80s where it's not going to be as intensely focused around the home run. We're left handers are still going to be able to hit singles to right field where stolen bases Dan. I think Mike doubled this year compared to last year. But really where it's moving at a place that you can't look down at your phone in between pitches without running the risk of missing one. And it's going to take a little while for fans, I think, to get used to because it is an alarming jarring change when you see it for the first time, but players have gotten used to it. And I think for the most part, they are very much on board with it. And then last night, the first minor league collective bargaining agreement, if we look back at history, minor league baseball players have been treated poorly for upwards of a century. It's been a really, really long time that they have been paid poverty wages that they've played in dilapidated stadiums that they've been on buses that break down that they've had to sleep 6 to a two bedroom apartment because they couldn't afford anymore. And the fact that they within the last year were able to create a union become recognized by Major League Baseball and hammer out a collective bargaining agreement that will more than double their salaries before opening day provide housing, better food, et cetera, et cetera. It's just a seminal day in baseball history that that and opening day with the pitch clock and the other new rules are all happening in these last 24 hours. All right, briefly on these teams, the ASTRO season hinges on. Who did I put? I wrote that a week and a half ago, so you need to Altuve. Two months. Honestly, the ashes was so good that their season doesn't necessarily hinge on anyone. They have such depth. That was just a product Dan of this thing's been hinging on a player for many other teams, but I don't want to lose the Astros. So how about the braves season hinges on? Yeah, this is another one. I don't remember. This segment is going on. You wrote this. You wrote it. Words if you're expecting a 120 different bits. All right, okay. All right. How about you know what? I'm calling you out. This is what Todd Fritz gets for not paying for ESPN+. I get an email last night. Hey, can you send me the text from this article? And I was like, wow, why do you want the text from that article you cheap bastard? Hey, I built the damn place. They should give it to me for free passing. Just keep that in mind. Talking hairdo going in and taking a victory lap. I spent 18 years, I built a damn place. Don't you talk, don't you talk to Todd that way? And you got my hair back when I was there. Come on. I'm not going to put up with this. How about that, Todd? Thanks for sticking up. Thank you. All right. I used to love Jeff. Yeah. What do you think for me on the bus there? I was going to ask you what the Dodgers season hinges on or the Yankees, but I don't want to, I don't want to stump you. Charlie, right? Okay. That's it. You know, passing picks on fritzi and then it's ball game. All right? Hey, I deeply respect you standing up for your people in that matter. I do, however, just have to say my hair is better than yours was in your prime. Oh, no, no. I don't want you going to Bristol. You know, I know we're passing is, no, no, it's good. It can say it. Wow. It can set. Go ahead. Okay with that. I could refresh your memory. This is a great final time on the Dan Patrick show. Yeah. Todd get buster, only on the phone. Yes, Paul. Jeff, I'm all for self confidence, and I love your work, but let's pump the brakes. Yeah. I mean, honestly, yeah. It's probably true. But I just, after you coming back at me, I felt like some bravado was necessary. You don't have to be Robin Ventura. I'm Nolan Ryan on the mound. You don't have to come out, Jeff. Stay there. You know? And have some fun today. I know you will. And thank you again. For all your contributions. I always appreciate it. And Todd, I still like you. I love you, in fact, and Dan, thank you for having such great hair. All right, thank you, Jeff. That's Jeff passon, ESPN senior baseball insider. You can see that hair tonight on baseball tonight starting at 6 eastern. It's opening night. It'll be the Astros and the White Sox at 7. Not inspiring.

"Through rain or snow or sleep, seat and what's the motto of a postman? Oh, hail in there too. Throw hail in there. How long were you a postman? I don't know if I made it two years. Okay. Maybe I put in a decent shift though. Who's had more interesting jobs? You or Pauly? Who's had more jobs? Oh, different. Yeah. But she knew you were, you worked as a baggage handler at the airport. I did, yeah, yeah, I worked out like on the runway for doing like a cones and throwing bags and stuff like that. But were you did you have the flashlights for you? Your landing us, you're waving us. I'm bringing you right in. Bringing you right in, yeah, yeah, yeah, I did all that. I never really noticed the person who was bringing us into the gate. How does it make you feel no one was somebody like me? I know that's the thing I'm going, I gotta start looking at it. A much younger me too. Like 22 or 20, that's not the me you want to do in that. Hungover, you don't bring in the plane in the game. Yes, Todd. All of a sudden he's got an itch and the next thing you know it's crashing right into the gate because he's moving to catching his face with the thing. Thank you, Tom. Clear your throat. Yes, Pauly. That seems like a somewhat serious job waving in planes. I thought he just did baggage, which seems, when you have to have some type of training to waive in huge jets, I mean, it's not like you're not waving them out of the air. All you're really doing is getting them to stop at a certain point on the runway. It's really not all that complicated. Come on, don't be so modest. Yes, all right? I'm a rocket scientist. Okay. But are you trained on how to use the orange flashlights or whatever they are? Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it really does take that it's really not all that complicated. Is it more for show? No, no, no. I mean, it's got a real, it's got a real reason behind it. And if you mess it up, it's not looked upon kindly, but it's really not that complicated. Well, how do you screw it up? Like if you have them stop before the certain spot, then it's a big problem if you have them stop after the spot. It's an even bigger problem. You kind of got a guide them in so they don't smash their wings on things. It's teamwork. Yes, Todd. So you're asking with a pilot ultimately know where to stop. The worst case scenario, if that person didn't show up or wasn't paying attention, the pilot would somehow figure out how to stop, I would think, without crashing into something. You just put the brakes on this segment. Twice. Land the plane, Todd. Someone wave you off. Land the plane. I gotta do, I gotta get me some of those yellow things. Orange things. That's all right. We're three minutes in. Today you'll get better. Yeah, it will. Keep your head up. What they really do, just to land the plane on this segment. There's like an X on the ground and you're trying to get that front wheel to hit the X so a pilot would have absolutely no idea. They would have a rough idea of where to stop. But you have to get it right on that X so that when they hook the thing up, you know what I mean? People can get off the plane, but it has to line up exactly. So that's what happened. The jet wig gets the jetway has to get hooked up to the door. When you're going, hey, you got to hook that thing up to the thing. Yeah, you know, the thing the jetway that you'll walk off of. LeBron out with a foot injury, although I did see the headline and this isn't the way you write a headline because this has a motion in it, LeBron James feared out for several weeks with foot injury. Well, who fears that? Is it a quote from somebody? Because you don't say LeBron James feared out, just LeBron James out with a foot injury. And then it could be a couple of weeks that he's out. But feared, Lonzo Ball, and LaMelo Ball, he broke his ankle last night. I didn't see a headline feared lost for the season or feared it could be could impact next season. There was no fear attached to LaMelo Ball's injury. Yes, the mellow ball injury headline was much less emotional. It was hornets star ball suffers fractured right ankle. Yeah, standard procedure. Yeah. Feared out for the year. But you can't use the word feared. Networks fear LeBron out for season ten. ESPN beaters. They didn't have room for networks. Skip Bayless fears LeBron Al for two weeks. Could you imagine? But then it would be the Lakers without LeBron and when's he coming back and then this stretch run and do they have enough winds? Are they going to be playing how dangerous are they? All those things. That's how it works. Yes, Mars. If the Lakers win maybe three games in a row, LeBron. Michael Jordan's team would never go through and without him. The Lakers are getting 8 and a half tonight against the grizzlies with no LeBron James in there. But lamelo breaks his ankle. The hawks have a new head coach, Quinn Snyder. So he leaves Salt Lake, leads leaves the Utah Jazz, now going to Atlanta. The NFL combine underway. And Derek Carr is meeting with the jets, saints and Panthers, the commanders said goodbye to Carson Wentz, the artist formerly known as you go back to that game against the rams. He was going to win the MVP. All he had do is stay healthy. And tried to run it in, blew out his knee, and now here is at the age of 30, and I don't think he'll ever be a starter again. Now he might come in for somebody if somebody's injured, but I don't think he's a starting quarterback anymore. And it's not all on him. But this is where we start. We give you the credit, you get the blame as well. And you go back to there's two things that come to mind with Carson Wentz. First of all, I don't know if he loves football. And that may sound strange. I've said this before, I've been around athletes who were really good at what they do. They don't love what they do. Andrew Luck was really good at what he did, I just don't know if he loved doing it anymore. Carson Wentz, we were in Houston at the Super Bowl. You know, you know, we had these interactions with players and coaches and we're talking off air. We're not talking on camera or on the radio. And Carson Wentz, I was like, hey, congratulations. This is his rookie year. And this is what 5 years ago. And I said, you know, we were talking. I was like, hey, great year. He goes, can't or I'm so glad it's over. I just want to go hunting. It wasn't one of those where he's like, man, I'm living out my dream. I'm 25. I'm starting quarterback. Man, I learned so much. I'm going back in. It's like, oh, thank God this is over and I go, I don't know if he loves football. It was one of those reactionary in the moment I'm going to say

We've been talking about some of the odds Major League Baseball, MVP American League, national league, over under total runs today with all the games. 120 and a half, how about the odds to have the best regular season record in baseball. If you said the Astros, you'd be correct, even without Altuve for a little while, then the braves, Dodgers, Yankees, and the mets. Its opening day, Jeff passons hair looked crisp. Maybe a little extra product in there. The baseball insider for ESPN, he'll be on baseball tonight, pregame show tonight at 6 eastern. It's baseball opening night. It'll be the Astros hosting the White Sox at 7 o'clock. Great to see you again, Jeff. Can you please help me understand why the unicorn is opening the season on the road in Oakland instead of being showcased like he should be, Shohei Ohtani. National TV yeah, I don't necessarily disagree with your premise other than maybe MLB wanted and no hitter on opening day. That's what I said. But I don't want it to be late at night, no hitter. We need Shohei Ohtani should be in prime time. Given everything that's happened in baseball, or even make it an afternoon game. But people want to see him after what's happened and you're not you're not taking advantage of that. Why? I don't have a good answer to that. Honestly, I don't think there is one. I agree if there's any cajoling of the schedule that Major League Baseball should be doing. It's for the beginning of the season and it should be tilted toward the stars. And having Shohei Ohtani open in New York would have been incredible, having him pitch out opening day at Fenway Park would have been amazing or in Philadelphia against the defending national league champions or we could go on and on and on about all the different things that could have been. I suppose I take solace in knowing that it's just one day. And I understand it's a ceremonial one. It's national holiday for those of us who love baseball. But because of the balance schedule this year that has never been in place in the past, oh Tommy is going to be playing everywhere this year. So he will have those games Yankee Stadium and he will have those games in city field and he will have those games in Boston that were all desiring. It just won't be on this day that all of us are sitting here excited about what the next 186 days have to hold. It is ohtani on the angels by the end of the year. Oh boy, see, when you ask that question, you're essentially asking me to make a prediction about how the angels are going to do this year. And I do think the angels are going to be an improved team. I don't know that there are going to be improved enough necessarily such that when August 1st, the trade deadline comes around, they don't sit there and say, we can get so much and secure our future for somebody who in all likelihood is going to be leaving at the end of this season. And that's the catch 22 for the angles right now. They know that in order to have any shot at keeping Shohei Ohtani around, they need to win this year. And they know that, you know, I think they probably felt that in the past. But I think they know it explicitly now after seeing him during the world baseball classic. I've been around Cheyenne on and off for 5 years now. That he's been over here. And there was a different version of him than at the WBC. The guy at the WBC was the team captain of samurai, Japan, a group of players who have gone in one Olympic gold medals, and who played together all. They were one of only a handful of real teams as opposed to guys who have just gotten thrown together for the WBC. And seeing the utter joy on his face and the excitement of playing baseball that outs for him, like that really makes him care, you know, he said after the semifinal game where they had to walk off hit against Mexico. You know, this is the most fun I've had playing baseball in a long time. And it's the most fun because he's been winning. And he hasn't won it all in his time with the angels. So, you know, this is dancing around your original question. If the angels win, they will keep him, and they will use that as a selling point to try and keep him from going to the Dodgers or the mets or the Giants or the Yankees or the Mariners, the teams that seem to be the top suitors for him. This is a team that finished 33 games at a first place last year. Vegas DraftKings has them over under 82 and a half wins.

"If you're Brooklyn. There's no other alternative at this point. There's no market for Ben Simmons. Nobody in the NBA really knows if you're making like the Ben Simmons pie chart, how much of it is mental, how much of it is physical, how much of it is a situation. There's just, there's a lot of questions around him to the point where nobody is going to touch him. Certainly not with the numbers that are left on that contract. I mean, the nets, there's no pressure on Brooklyn right now because they're not going to win anything for the foreseeable future. So I believe their mindset this off season with a full off season with Simmons being relatively healthy is to just try to find unique ways to get him back on track because they really don't have any other choice. Like there's no other destination for Ben Simmons. There's no place they can trade him. They're certainly not going to cut him and eat all that money. They've got to figure out this summer a way to fix Ben Simmons. So that he is something close to the player we've once seen in years past. Yeah, and you know, it's like markelle fultz worked to come back. Yeah. And really, it's been a really good story, but he disappeared in Orlando. It's like Ben Simmons needs to disappear someplace, so we don't focus on his game every single night, or he's not playing for a contender where he's hurting that team. And then maybe he gets some confidence back. But man, you can't go from defensive player of the year to average in 17 and 8, and then you're not even playing anymore. I don't know. Mind boggling. Look, the people, the people around Ben Simmons will tell you that everything is kind of an offshoot of the initial injury, whether it's the knee, connects to the hip, connects to the back, all those things have been giving Ben Simmons problem. But I couldn't agree with you more that Ben Simmons needs to get back in anonymity, which is exactly what folks did, and there was some similarities there because false injuries did appear to be both physical and men. And he went to Orlando where there was no pressure and, you know, he's had some injuries down there, but as a player, he has been able to revive his career. Look, maybe Brooklyn is that destination. I mean, the nets are in New York, but you know, even when they're great, nobody really cares. There's still a Knicks town. So that could be his opportunity to rebuild himself next year, but he can't play for a contender right now, not with that type of pressure. Would you rather be a Knicks fan or a kings fan right now? I'd probably rather be a kings fan, not just for this year, but for the foreseeable future because I can project out four or 5 years of the king's rising in the playoff standings in the playoff field, becoming a contender. If they can add a couple of defensive players, they could be at another level. The next, they just reek of first round exit. They just do. They're better than what they were in years past because Jalen Brunson is there. And jaylen Brunson is a game changer. I think Jalen Brunson deserves credit for elevating Julius Randle this year because, you know, Julius Randle is playing more like the guy we saw two years ago than the one we saw last year. And that has a lot to do with Jalen Brunson. But I still don't trust that team in the playoffs. I've watched too many Knicks games, Dan, where Randall just grabs the ball with under 5 minutes left and goes one on 5 sometimes. And defensive kind of figured him out. You saw it in the playoffs a couple of years ago against Atlanta. You know, a couple of games to break it down or boil it down. They see him kind of look one way they send a double team from another and force him to either turn the ball over or take a bad shot. That's just not a team. I could trust right now. It's a great matchup on Friday, by the way, with a team they're likely to face in the first round. That's Cleveland. I think Cleveland's a more complete team than the Knicks are. They're overall better defensively. And I think Donovan Mitchell will be the best player on the floor in that series. They won't be great because he Donovan Mitchell go to Madison Square Garden and break the hearts of all Knicks fans. I think the Knicks are a team that's built for pretty good success in the regular season, but when you get to the playoffs and you're going to be forced to rely on Julius Randle and forced to ask for efficiency from RJ Barrett and forced to have Jalen Brunson step up into a bigger role, I'm just not buying them. I think the kings have a higher ceiling. I'll leave you with this. I'm big on body language and I'm watching the Mavs last night. Luca does not look good, man. How's this sound? I don't know. Look, he's in year one of a long-term contract. But the Mavericks made this Kyrie deal because they're worried about Luca asking out in the foreseeable future. And you know, whenever I check in with people in Dallas, it's made clear to me in no uncertain terms that they don't blame Kyrie for what's going on down here. Tyree, by all accounts, has been a great locker room guy, a pretty good leader saying it's a cluster bleep last night was probably not a page out of Dale Carnegie, but he has been a pretty good soldier down in Dallas. The problem they have, Dan, is there roster is deeply flawed. You watch Luca and Kyrie are not good defensive players. But when there's nobody behind them to clean up their mistakes, they become exponentially worse because you can't rely on JaVale McGee and Dwight Powell and maxi kleber to be defensive stopper. So if you are, if you have two turnstiles at the top of the perimeter, you're not going to have much success getting stops in the paint. It reminds me a lot of what the jazz looked like in recent years would Rudy Gobert was out a lineup where they could score a bunch of points, but they couldn't stop anybody. And I don't know how it gets better next season. Like, let's say, let's spin it forward and let's say you bring Kyrie back on a long-term deal, which is a massive risk in and of itself. Like you don't have flexibility to go out and get the wing stopper that you had enduring Finney Smith. You have no flexibility to get the perimeter or the interior big. You have no flexibility to flesh out that Ross or you're just going to have to hope that those two guys catch lightning in a bottle and can outscore you on most nights. And that's not a recipe for success. It's really not. So they were better. I think it's gonna end poorly. They were better before they made the trade. They were a better team. It was a panic move. Yes. It was a panic move because they failed last year with Jalen Brunson. We don't need to go back down that path. That was a catastrophic mistake, not resigning him. The first or second time that they had the opportunity. And now they go out and we're the only team really in the NBA, willing to roll the dice on Kyrie. Look at the off season, Dan. Like, who's out there that would take a chance on Kyrie besides Dallas this summer? Like, the Lakers, I mean, if they do that, if they go out there and gut their roster to get Kyrie Irving, that would be one of the most dysfunctional moves I've seen in a while. The sons have no waitress, Kevin Durant doesn't look like he wants to be anywhere near Kyrie anymore. Like some of the cap space teams, like Detroit, San Antonio. Are they making a run? At Kyrie Irving? It's Dallas or bust, it feels like right now for Kyrie. Good to talk to you so much. Thanks again, Chris. You got it, Dan. "Was pretty easy. It wasn't easy. Oh, I guess it was. Baker Mayfield, it was easy for him too. Could I do it? What? Do you think I could do it? Think Lincoln Riley could make me a winner? Do you think he made me a Heisman winning quarterback? No. But don't change the subject. I'd be fun. Yeah. You could be the tight end there. I'll make you a tight end there. I was a tight end once, Danny. The reason I'm the defensive end now. Do you? Yes, your honor. Yes. Central Antonio, you want to talk about Antonio Brown instead of Kyler Murray? I mean, the day that we came into central Michigan, the freshman all showed up on the same day and we went to the indoor facility to run, we went to run by ourselves, I guess, a freshman group, which pretty incredible freshman group. We have myself Antonio Brown and Nick below who's still in the league with the Seahawks. And we went to run and Antonio was dusting the floor with every single one of us. It was the most incredible thing I've ever seen in all the rest of us just kind of looked at each other like, should we even be here? This guy's on a different planet. But he was an unbelievable talent. And he turned out to be a great player and he has a crazy he has a fascinating backstory and it was definitely interesting getting to know him and he was a hell of a player to watch. I'll let you off the hook, you don't have to answer Kyler Murray. I'm sitting here. You're saying it was easy. The guy won four state championships in high school. He went on a national champion, no non astronaut Simpson, but he won a Heisman in college. It was too easy for me. Now you have to outthink people. Now you have to put in the effort. Everybody's great. Why didn't you do it if it was so easy? I got as many surgeries as you have. Do you? Yeah. How many do you have? Let's hear them. Shoulder hand, eyes, replacement knee, 7 surgeries. All right, that's not. Botox. Am I on my way to that? Is that coming up? Yes it is. Well, it's great to see you. It's great. If you look at the games played, I believe the number is a 156 games played a 141. He didn't play in and your buddy Charles Barkley came up with a pretty funny nickname for Kyrie and I know Kyrie was insulted by it when he called him half man, half a season, but the numbers bear it out. That's the issue with Kyrie Irving. So Kyrie Dan has played great the last two months, as well as any player in the league. He leads the NBA in fourth quarter scoring, and I think Kyrie goes to the nets. Okay, I've proven you. I'm a great player. Pay me like some of these other players in the league get paid. And then it said, no, no, no. It doesn't work like that. You forgot about the other three months. We get it two months you've been great. You conveniently forget about the other three years I should say, not three months, three years that he's been on the team. The report was Kevin Durant was surprised. How surprised do you think he was? Well, you know, I don't know. Surprised that Kyrie Irvin has to be traded. Maybe that's the case because Kyrie had a comment last year when he was asked about the team and he said, I'll never leave number 7. Well, that's what he just did. He has to be traded, but also remember the timing of this. If you go back to last June, Harry Irving opted into his contract. That was the time when every team in the league if Kyrie had opted out, would have had an opportunity to sign with the team as a free agent. He wasn't going to get the big money. So he opted into his contract with the Brooklyn Nets. The very next day, or maybe it was two days later, Kevin Durant asked to be traded. So the timing of that is that just a coincidence, I don't know, you tell me. We'll get to KD here in a moment. Let's look at the trade from both sides here. Why the Mavs? You know, did they maybe not want to trade into the Lakers, perhaps that's a possibility. I think the one thing about the Laker deal, so you're talking about those two picks that a lot of teams want. We know Danny ainge wants some really badly. The 27 and the 29 first round pick. That's not going to do Kevin Durant any good. It's probably not going to do Sean marks. The president of the nets, any good. And also with Russell Westbrook, who I actually think has played pretty well this season, but Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook had issues in the past. So with Kevin Durant already asking him to be traded once, is it something that they wanted to do? Probably not. Then if you get a third team involved and a lot of people thought that 13 would be San Antonio. But if San Antonio is going to take on Russell Westbrook's money for the last 30 games, they'd also say, well, give us a first round pick. Now the deal gets a lot more complicated. And I think for the Brooklyn that you get two players that can help you right now and Spencer didn't what he Dorian Finney Smith. You get the future first round pick, you get the two second round picks. Now the net in a position where they do have some assets where they could conceivably make a trade between now and Thursday's trade deadline because as you know Dan, for them to make the trade on a Sunday, that tells you they don't wait till the last minute say, well, let's see if we can get a better offer. Like they did with James Harden, they're thinking, maybe we could do something between now and Thursday at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. As far as kairi's role with the Mavs, I know we look at Luca and the usage rate, but is this short term resist long-term?

"This way. I don't think it's contentious among the writers. It's contentious certainly among the fans. It's contentious, certainly on social media. Radio TV personalities, some of them have, you know, made it seem like if you vote for player X, that means you hate player Y. Which none of the writers actually believe. I'm an MVP voter and look, I've gone back and forth on this vote, but not because I, you know, feel differently or I hate Nikola Jokić more than I did back in February when I voted the first time, but circumstances change. You know, since the last ESPN straw poll, you've seen the bucks go on a 15 game winning streak. You've seen the sixers 8 out of ten and Joel embiid play out of his mind. So things just changed. That's why the voting habits change. And if you go back to December, Dan, Jayson Tatum was the leader in the MVP Clubhouse. So, you know, things just said to evolve over season. How do you think this plays out? I think it's going to come down to potentially which team gets hot in the final couple of weeks of the season. Potentially which player takes off. I mean, I was one of the few people that cast my unofficial vote this week for Giannis. Giannis, I think, is the most complete two way player. That's left. Among those top three, the bucks right now have the best record in basketball and the bucks have done it with Chris Middleton playing like 30 games this season. You know, every other player that we're talking about in the MVP race has an all star or all star caliber costar or costars. Yes, drew holiday is right there in that mix, but Chris Middleton is the number two in Milwaukee. And his absence while James Harden has been playing while Jamal Murray has been playing Michael Porter junior even playing in Denver. You know, that's a variable to me. So Yanis had a taking this team and elevating them to the best record in the NBA right now. That gave him a slight edge on my most recent vote. I'm talking to Chris mannix from Sports Illustrated. Their senior writer, how about my kings? Hello, how big is this story? Huge. It's huge. One of the most wildly entertaining teams I've seen in a while. Probably the most entertaining since, you know, Mike D'antoni's teams from back in the day because they are, wait, more entertaining than me. Then Golden State? Yeah. Yeah, because Golden State would play defense and Sacramento. It makes me even more entertaining. It's just fun watching this team get the ball out of their own basket, run up the floor and try to score. That's why it's kind of shades of the D'antoni sons. I mean, even the D'antoni sons during their best years, where you could find them 1520 in defense. Sacramento in most categories is bottom 5. And you watch them and I watched a lot of kings games this year because again, they are fun to watch. But you watch them and it's not like the efforts not there defensively. It's not like the schemes aren't their defense, 'cause Mike Brown is an excellent defensive coach. They're just fundamentally bad, like top to bottom, they are bad defensively from sabonis to Fox, Kevin herder, great offensive players, dynamic at some positions, but straight bad defensively. That's why, you know, most of these scores are like one 31 20, one 40, one 32. It just makes them so much fun to watch it. But it ending this drought is impressive. But it's entertaining, but is it, can you win with this in the playoffs? No, now you absolutely can not win with this in the playoffs. The match ups are going to be interesting because right now you look at the bottom of the Western Conference playoff standings and you see in no particular order, the clippers, the Lakers, the Timberwolves, it's very easy to envision a scenario, not just where the kings get knocked out in the first round, but any of the top three teams right now in the Western Conference getting knocked out in the first round. But specific to the kings, you've got to be like, I don't know, better than a bottom third defensive team to succeed in the playoffs when you can't run as much. When possessions become a lot more valuable. And I think the king's gonna have some fun moments in the postseason, but I don't see them getting very far with that defense. The most dangerous team in the west is who. Lakers. Most dangerous team in the west and Dan, I will tell you right now the Lakers are going to win the Western Conference. Wow. That is my prediction to you today. Okay. They will win the Western Conference. It's not knee jerk to what we saw last night against Chicago. It's more of a combination of everything I've seen over the last few weeks with Anthony Davis, again, playing like Anthony Davis. Austin Reeves taking off in the second half of the season. The trades that they made. These guys that fit, D'angelo Russell, he fits, Rui hashim Mora, good role player. Jared Vanderbilt. You get some kind of Dennis Rodman vibes off Jared Vanderbilt when he's in the game. And LeBron, he came back from this foot injury, a little bit earlier than people thought he would, which gives him more of a runway to get back into a rhythm before the start of the playoffs. I mean, since the all star breakdown, they have a top four defense in the league and I just see too many signs that suggest when they get to the playoffs, they're going to be dangerous there because who do you fear? Like who are you picking in the first round against the Lakers? Right now there are number 8. Do they play Denver? Do you pick the nuggets over the Lakers? I'm sorry. I wouldn't. Memphis, they're a mess right now. Sacramento, we talked about them. I think the Lakers, the biggest threat to the Lakers in my opinion, are the teams they could play in the second and third round at the bottom half of the bracket. If the warriors get Andrew Wiggins back and they start playing like the warriors, the clippers get Paul George back. Those are the teams out of the suns. We can get into them. I mean, if they get their chemistry right, those are the teams that would make me more anxious if I was the Lakers than Denver Memphis or Sacramento. You know, I thought you would say Phoenix would be the most dangerous team with Durant coming back. How come they're not the most dangerous too? They're right up there, but I still need to see more from this version of Phoenix. I don't put much stock in what Durant did last night. First game back and I can only imagine with an ankle injury that was so bizarre, there's going to be some comfort issues coming back into the fold. But Chris Paul continues to have an inconsistent shooting year. I want to see who's that kind of fourth and 5th guy off of or 5th guy really off of the top four that they have in Phoenix. How does that bench shape out? It's kind of a thin bench right now and look, they've got a lot of guys Dan that have been dealing with, you know, soft tissue injuries, muscle injuries, different things like that over the course of the season. Deandre ayton just missed four games with a hip injury. You know, that's a dangerous team because of their star power. But in the playoffs, I mean, it feels like they're one moment away from one of those guys going down, which would completely derail their plans. Help me understand the Ben Simmons situation. What happens next?

The Lakers got roughed up by the nets and LeBron and AD didn't play in that game. Yes, Marvin. I think the Mavericks need like a CJ McCollum type. Remember like the Sacramento Kings when they had Chris Webber, they had Mike bibby. He wasn't maybe an all star, but he was somebody you were going to have all types of problems with. Yeah, but they said they were going to get a star. Another star to go along with him. Yeah. I think Marvin's right. I don't think stars would want to play with Luca because you're not going to get the ball very much. He has a lot of assists. Yeah, yeah, by after he gets double teamed he has to get rid of it. It kind of reminds me remember Marvin, that guy, Eric Gordon, a good shooter, good offensive player when he was playing with Hardin. He was averaging like 17, 18 a game, maybe more. He's available again, I think. I still have him. Yeah, I think he is. I think there was what it would take to get Eric Gordon. I go, Eric Gordon still playing, huh? Still score. Yamar. And, you know, we feel like Dallas should be great. And he should be great. We expect them to be great for some reason. But there's no history that says, oh, they're going to, they're going to do the right thing. And then Mike McCarthy, it just feels like Mike came in to the sleepover with Jerry Jones, and then you wake up the next morning and you're like, I'm the head coach of the cowboys. Great. Did you talk philosophy? Are you going to have power here? And it could be where you're just a puppet government there. And I feel bad for McCarthy. But he took the job, you know? You're going to keep doing the same thing. Well, what is the quote of what is crazy or whatever doing the same thing over and over and over? And not insanity. That's kind of what you have here. All right, we'll take a break. Coming up, we'll talk to Devin McCourty the patriot safety's doing some work in the media. And his brother is already doing some great stuff in the media. So we'll talk to him. And more on Patrick Mahomes is high ankle sprain with a medical expert who will join us. We're back after this, Dan Patrick show. Oh, it's going to be sad. "Those guys mixed up. Yes. Micah Parsons got a rush. And I think it's Mike mcglinchey, the tackle for the forty-niners. You got the win and then they stayed, but he kind of got under his armpit and lifted him sideways. And there's this picture. It looks like he's picking him up at like delivering a package. Does not look good. Last time I saw that was Reggie white. I think that was in the Super Bowl. Against the patriots, he lifted somebody up or trucked them, but the cowboys disappointment bills disappointment. If I'm a Jags fan, I feel pretty good today. You know, you went toe to toe, you know, you got a lot of momentum going into next season. And this is what it comes down to. You got to have the coach and you got to have the quarterback. Well, they had the quarterback, they didn't have the coach and Doug Peterson did a wonderful job with that team this year. Cleaning up the mess, what was left behind with urban Meyer. And then getting Trevor Lawrence to play like a number one overall pick should play. And I thought that that was, that was one of those moments that it could have gotten out of hand. I didn't want the Jags to get blown out because they had been a really good story. And then all of a sudden, you realize that they're not going away. Mahomes gets hurt. Who knew Chad henny was still in the NFL? He came in 98 yard drive, and it always helps when you go, okay, if I get in trouble, who can I throw Travis Kelce? Travis Kelce. I think the Jags had one of the worst defenses against tight ends this year. And boy, they proved that stat was correct. He had 14 catches. And you know he's getting it. Yeah. Yeah. Like, there's certain guys where they're open and you go, okay. It feels like we're still surprised Travis Kelce is so open. Think, man, who's covering it? Well, nobody is. But he looked great, you know? And that's such a weapon to have. All right, we'll get to your phone calls. And we'll check in with the Bengals coming on. Dave lapham has been working for the Bengals radio network for over 30 years former offensive tackle with the Bengals. Good to have him back on the show. Check me back to training camp, Dave. What was the Bengals, I guess, personality like after losing the Super Bowl? You know, Dan, it was interesting at training camp because Joe borrow had had the appendectomy. So, you know, Joe was healing. I mean, Joe couldn't go. He wasn't practicing. The offensive lineman Collins had a back problem. Capa had a hip flexor issue. They had to have surgery on it. They were beaten up. And so it's like, man, got all these new offensive linemen. They can't work. They can't practice together. Quarterbacks, driving around on a golf cart. I mean, our leader is disabled right now. It was kind of like what's going on, you know? But they still thought they had the core of a damn good football team. Then Joe borrow healed up, you know, they start off on two. They go -5. Joe plays in the opener and he was not himself, they go 5 turnover 5 times ago, -5 and still could have won the game, missed an extra point. Miss a field goal in overtime, miss next reported conclusion again in the order on it. I mean, so it's like, this is still a good football team. Since then, 13 out of 15, ten in a row. I mean, they just got healthy. Everybody realized, hey, if we do our part of what one 11th of what we're supposed to do when we're out there on the football field, we're pretty good. And I thought they played from a timely standpoint, their most complete game of the year. I thought that they played a clean game. They had no turnovers. The only had two penalties to false starts for 9 yards, two penalties for 9 yards, so they played a clean game. They played a complete game, and they played a complimentary football game, the three C's. You can't beat the three C's, man. What was the atmosphere like in Buffalo? They were very confident. The fan base was extremely confident that bills were very confident and meteorologically. The atmosphere was funky. It was chilly. It was pretty cold. The windshield in the 20s. It was snowing. Big flakes at times, pretty good sized ones. But the good thing is, Dan? No wind. The wind was negligible, and I was surprised because I thought, man, you got funky weather like that. Normally off the Lake, here comes the wind, you know? And it was very, very still, the flags were still the little banners on top of the goalposts were just flaccid just sitting there. They weren't moving. So I thought, well, they can still throw the ball can still kick it pretty well. So they just went out and just they held with the elements, we're just going to the thing that they did, Dan, or that they wanted to do, this football team now is ten at all when they score first. They like to land the first punch. And they landed the first punch. And they staggered the Buffalo Bills. They staggered Josh Allen in the bills. And then they, they chased them into the corner and just kept throwing body shots. You know, they just, they never let up on it. So it was like a heavyweight fight, you hit the big overhand right or the hook or whatever you hit. Stagger

"And all that. You can't talk dynasty. I don't think people realize how hard that is. The commitment and sacrifice it takes. I mean, you got a sacrifice your body. And I thought that was premature talk. You know, to talk. To even mention that word, but they bring the best out of us, and I think we do the same. And don't like them. We gotta respect them. Because they're a threat. All right, there you go. The ultimate respect is that championship team saying they're a threat. But the grizzlies, I mean, it was a day where John morant, they showed his new sneakers that are coming out in April, right? Chris to stay game, you get the warriors. There's no staff, and then you get, then you get beat pretty handily. That is, as you point out, that's a buzz kill. You know what that is, that's waiting for something. And my son's had this, right? Where you're like, oh man, all I want is this one president. You get it. And you just for like half the day and it breaks. You know? I did the first time we ever got a drone. I remember I flew the drone over the house and was doing all this aerial stuff. And then I didn't know what I was doing crash the drone. It did not make it to December 26th. It's what clay said. You're talking to dynasty. What have you all won? Do you guys have a team full of good young players? Yes, you do. But what does that mean if you haven't won anything in clay's actually a really good interview, man? He kind of real organic just kind of says what's on his mind. But when you think about the grizzlies are really talented team but they haven't won anything in the west the pelicans are a really good young, talented team as well. So are the nuggets. So are the Mavericks in so every season is going to be ebbs and flows for all the good teams. But you got to win first. You got to win. I know they ask John Moran. Who's your competition? Who are you worried about? Nobody in the west. The boss Celtics. You got to get there first. You must earn the right to play the boss of Celtics if you guys can do it. So he didn't even bring up a team in a Western Conference. And you like the confidence, but it needs to be a little more realistic. Let's win our side first in the warriors with them being champion, time they're a dynasty. Let's get to NBA final. Let's beat some of these teams and win somebody series that we're not supposed to win. Then you can talk like that. TJ has been and Doug gottlieb in for Dan and Dan etz here in the Dan Patrick show. No, it's almost comical, right? Where you're just sitting there going, fellas, relax a little bit, you know, got wind something first. I think the worst part is maybe the worst part. It's like the old, you know, the old adage. You can talk the talk, but you got to walk the walk.

And that deserve a pardon today. 8 7 7 9 9 on Fox. We covered this a little bit the other day, but I'm down for reinvestigating. Again, hit us up at COVID on Richard. We're talking to a completely different audience now. We're talking to the Dan Patrick shows. People in the bayonets and everybody else. Who else deserves this part in 8 7 7 9 9 on Fox? I got the number one answer on the board. And it's not Mark Sanchez. Who deserves, who deserves forgiveness, a pardon, like a damn Thanksgiving turkey. Give it to me. Let's hear what my number one. I want to hear it right now. It's not Pete Rose. It's not any one of the steroid era. These are all debatable. The number one answer and it was from a caller on our show, just like a day ago, or two days ago. So I wish I could give credit. I think his name was Dave. I think Dave Goff, just making that you're just making that up. No, it was day. In Minnesota. It was Dave. Someone called said, hey man, you know who needs a pardon? Who? Steve bartman. And I'm like, you know what? Absolutely. I agree. Right? Like, this guy. Let it go. We destroyed this guy. The media, the fans. Just a damn nerd with his headphones on in glasses and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Like all of us would have been if we were in that seat, it was, he was victim of looking like a nerd. That was it because everyone else went up for that ball. And he was victim of Moises Alou. He was wearing a green nurdle neck. Glasses, a hat, headphones. He just stood out. So everyone's like he did look like that. Yeah, that guy. Let's get him. He's wrong. He played it all wrong. And the fact that Moises aloo looked all mad about it. He hit the glove and everything. You know, that guy was one of the biggest fans ever. Never went back to Wrigley and I know that they forgave him when they won, but it's like too little too late. He's officially pardoned. Who do you forgive for their blunder? Do you forgive JR Smith for not knowing where the hell he was during the NBA Finals? Ah, LeBron. LeBron with his arms out like my heart. My hand on my heart. Okay, get it.

"Steph Curry spoke, how draymond green spoke. They found a way to support Andrew Wiggins. And at the same time, make it very clear where they stood and what needed to happen. And to this day, Andrew Wiggins will express reluctance about getting vaccinated. And yet he did, and they went on to win a championship. It's just a matter of if you want to stand there and say, hey, you know, that really that bothers me, but it's really not my place to say or do anything. When you are part of a team and you are as great a player as Kevin Durant is, that's not an option. That box doesn't exist on the choice. Because not if you want to win, not if you're not if you proclaim that you want to play winning basketball and we want to be part of a winning team. It just does not work. There are elements that come along with the job when you are as great as Kevin Durant is and when you aspire to do the things that Kevin Durant does, that are necessary. And I'm okay. I'm completely okay. With Kevin Durant saying, yes, I really don't I don't want to lead. I don't want to hold my teammates accountable. Fine. But don't tell me you're a champion. Don't tell me you're trying to do everything you can to win. Because that comes with the job. You know, and that's the thing, when you get into this entire story about the nets, Rick buchar with us here, Dan Patrick show, is that when I look at Kyrie and the nets are going to spend the next few days deciding what to do is you're going to look at it and say, you know, Kyrie doesn't make basketball a priority. So how can we go forward with it? He's not made basketball a priority for the better part of two years. He's found a way to be away from the team. He's found a way to, hey, I want to get involved in this knuckleheaded controversy, which what are you doing? And if he loved basketball and really made it his priority, he wouldn't be doing things like this, taking away from trying to win a championship. I don't know how you go forward with Kyrie Irving on the team. Yeah, and I don't know that they honestly, I don't know that they can, but at this point, he's so toxic. Can you make a deal? The Lakers were genuinely interested in making a deal for him last summer. I was getting indications as late as yesterday morning that they were still interested in trying to make something happen. And saw this as actually an opportunity to get Kyrie. So, but I don't know where things stand. This morning, because they've become so toxic. But at this point, the next iteration of the nets is not going anywhere. Too much has happened.

Texas Is the Cash Cow for Presidential Elections
"If those of you elsewhere are wondering if my state is about to turn purple or turn blue. That's going to be a big fat no here in two weeks from today, Greg Abbott is going to win and it's not going to be that close. Our lieutenant governor Dan Patrick is going to win and it ain't going to be that close. Our attorney general Ken Paxton is going to win. I thought that one might be close. I no longer do. This is a red state. We're going to fortify our role as such. Here's why everybody in Iowa and Utah and Alabama and Florida and Oregon and why conservatives ought to care about this is because if Texas is ever lost, if we are ever no longer a red state, you will never elect a Republican president again. We have 40 honking electoral votes now. 40, we have upped ourselves to 38 congressional seats plus our two senators. That's how you calculate your state's electoral votes. And so we have 40. Now, and so that's an 80 vote swing, an 80 electoral vote, swing. And look at how close a lot of the past elections have been, you take 40 away from the Republican nominee and hand them over to the Democrat camp. That is an 80 electoral vote swing, good luck. So yes, my state is important. And I am spending every day prodding and cajoling everybody listening in my state to get out there and vote our early voting is underway and with that we find an interesting quandary because I have never been a fan of early voting. I'm telling everybody to do it. I'm not stupid.

Just learning how to win down the stretch but having the chiefs who two years ago they won the super bowl last year there in the super bowl a lot of people thought that they probably could have won that super bowl and going into their place in week one and really playing him. I don't think that that is anybody's something that anybody should be ashamed of if you're a browns fan
