Big money brings bigger expectations for Dak

"You finally needed me. Dan Orlovsky, the great analyst for the Mothership. NFL Live continues daily throughout the entire off season at four Eastern on ESPN, Catch Dan with Adam Schefter. Marcus Spears, meaning times Laura Rutledge, four. P. M. Eastern daily on ESPN. Dan. Thanks for joining us. Did the Cowboys have a great day? Yesterday? The Cowboys did not Jack Prescott did Jack press cop Doc Prescott. His family did. But this is a big time swing and miss for the Cowboys. I think that they took a calculated risk. You know, they tried to be patient and patient and patient and didn't want to do something like the Rams and the Eagles did. But man, that is a ton of money to give that Prescott What should the expectation Level B for cowboy fans this year? This year. It Luis, You're stuck in second round of the playoffs. Sniffing your NFC championship game, You know, like here's Here's. This is what my comment is with this, and it's the old saying too much is given much is expected. This is why I was very cautious of giving Dak Prescott a ton of money or second most quarterback money. It's going to impact your football team and we can't snow sit here and say, Well, he's really good. But the expectation status, saying the expectations have to be elevated. Not only individually Hey, what are left tackles out. We still have to win the game on the road against the New York Jets because they stink or when we don't have a Mark Cooper. We still got to play good at the position because you're supposed to be And a difference maker. When it comes to the finances. It's a bad division. I still have to wait to see what happens in Washington at the quarterback spot. If they got a quarterback that I thought was a good player arrived. Patrick I think that I would favor them to win the division because I think Dallas still has issues defensively Offensive

"In celebrating about some conflicted. It's basically what i'm saying You know when you start way inflicted. But i'm saying honestly i'm seeing this video. Nama beat better than i like. You've been there before but the age of the people. They have never been a games worse. They've been twenty games worse so eighteen and seventeen but don't forget the eye of what's going on is across the east river. That's what you should want. The question is is that what you're going to get based on what's currently cooking. I mean just hope again just hope again. The owner stays out of it because the owner hired some somebody from caa. Just the road. Here in los angeles say go be the president and now things are beginning to work and that is the four seed now the difference between the four seed and the ten seed of a. I'm going to attempt to do right now. Three a difference in the winds and one in the laws. That's just two games one in a loss. That's it that's the thing about. The hawks are just fired. Their coach their wizards bradley. Beal and westbrook finally plan. And now suddenly darren a mix next accept the fact that the brooklyn nets are gonna destroy everybody except your team your team aid embiid and simmons and tobias harris and steph curry and all those young guys that are front daryl. Carson Wentz would prefer to leave Philadelphia Eagles, but team is not looking to trade him, per report

"This is the saga that we've been covering forever right carson. Wentz coming off terrible year. You know that he got benched. You'll see all the numbers and it was just awful but when they made the choice to fire the coach and bring in frank. Reich's assistant nick serianni. We figured well at the end of that is coming back in philly. Adam schefter yesterday said maybe not so fast wants. Leave the franchise. That's why the trade still employ. This is a real and this was made up and just because he would like to be moved doesn't mean he will be if i had to guess i would guess he is traded. That'd be my guess. Okay at some point this off season but again. they're not just going to train them just. They're not looking to get rid of him. They're not shefty. I shefty speech. The world listens and dan. Orlovsky we've not had you on this yet today. What is your reaction to this idea that it seems at least from the outside like the eagles have probably done just about everything he might have wanted and he still wants out agree with them. Schefter i think carson wentz wants away from philadelphia for a long time. People thought well he wants away. From doug peterson i think he wants to wait from the city. I think he wants away. From the organization. Greenie do speak so loudly. I need not hear what you say. And we live in a time frame and society where it's the easiest time ever to make some form of statement and carson had two opportunities to do that his first head coach in the. Nfl was fired. He had the opportunity to post something on twitter. Post something on instagram. Saying you're my. I said coach ever in the nfl while it didn't work out the way we wanted to for the long run. I'm forever thankful for our time together. Well then we move on and they hire a head coach. Nick serianni another opportunity to make some form of statement some form of. I'm looking forward to the future. New new beginnings fresh start excited to work with you and nothing for those two reasons. I'm sitting back and going carson. Wentz doesn't want to be in philadelphia. Maybe it wasn't as tight to doug peterson and it is tied to the organization and what has transpired over the past couple of weeks past couple of months. I can tell you this. I had a coach call me last week and spend twenty minutes on the phone with me asking about what my thoughts were with carson. Wentz the good and the bad why. It went south this past season because they've got a high level of interest in them and i think two teams. That should be calling our indy in chicago. Both of them have a win. Now defenses and both of them have some form of a tie in the past with carson wentz being frank reich and indian john d. filipo in chicago so i agree with this Shefty i think it's more likely. He gets traded than not.

Bears announce coach Matt Nagy, GM Ryan Pace will return after 'impressive' finish to 2020

"Apparently matt nagy is going to make it to next year. The bears are gonna keep him the head coach. The general manager ryan pays. Who may have been more maligned than nagy. Decline the fifth year option trubisky. But it's still an option to bring him back in some way our jeff dickerson who covers the bears is essentially reporting. Nagy and pace will be back. Our dan orlovsky is voicing his opposition. What has matt nagy done as for his a an organizer as far as a leader as far as a person with foresight within their organization to say yes in that head coaching role. We love them. Now we're going to allocate some of the play calling responsibilities or the offensive viewpoint. Who are we going to give that to. And what has matt nagy done within. That building approve on great in this role. I understand what dan is coming from. But i think in this situation. He has a winning record. Chuck pagano is retiring as a defense coordinator so he's got to his staff and his thought process in his thinking. Maybe there's a guy or two out there that is really good at calling. Plays really good at putting a system in place to make. Whoever the quarterback is going to be in the future for them successful. So i'm okay with them taking a look see. They just went to the playoffs. So you take a look in just poo. poo it. because you've got to restart things all over again when you completely blow everything up so give it a shot in twenty twenty one see where it's at. He's going to be before you make that decision and that move now mr bisky mitch. Trubisky is jockeying for position to come back and be the chicago. Bears starting quarterback again. Now maybe there's a small deal there because they didn't pick up the fifth year option. There's a small little deal. Maybe there's a two year deal. That is a proven deal that he can now show with a new office coordinator his abilities that he showed in north carolina and made them take him as a number two pick overall.

"I don't know if it's an official request. I this is what i have just says. Team hit hard by cove especially the defensive line. Ohio state is close to the availability limit for the gain. Big ten advocating to postpone for a week. We've heard some rumblings here. I did ask about justin fields and my source said he c- banged up but ready to play banged up but will play Because i didn't know if let's see him. Yeah my source says fields banged up will play big ten trying to get a postponement defensive line and the team hit hard by covid and they're approaching the availability limit to be able to field a team that the big ten would be advocating for moving this. It's not ohio state from what i'm told. The big ten is saying we need to have a what would be a legitimate national title game and covert is still now. Alabama and ohio state aren't transparent with their numbers they haven't been and apparently they don't have to be. There are also governed by different. You know medical rules in their conferences. The fcc and big ten coach differently so trying to get the information. There has been hard to find out. Exactly how hard hit the are with cove but it sounds like they're they're inching closer to the number of players. They need to have available for this national title game. So that was the information i had yesterday and you know there has. There have been pockets of information like this out there but from what i was told yesterday. The big ten is advocating for postponing this a week. Not ohio state and justin fields from. What i'm told will play. Ohio state is planning on playing. I just wanna make sure that we underline that ohio state is planning on playing but the big ten is advocating for ohio state who is close to the availability limit to be able to postpone this game for a week. That was the information i had yesterday. I will come up with a poll question. Play of the day stat of the day. Dan orlovsky from espn Always love when he joins us. We'll talk some football here. "Are the defensive stepped up a little bit. More dan when he was drafted when he was coming out. I really said drew things about lamar. I said listen. The mars got a chance to be a really good player if he used the right way and they have used them the right way up into this point. But i also said this when you take a god-like lamar you have to go all in with everything. You have to go all in with scheme and you have to go all in with the people around that scheme. It can't be a traditional nfl offensive roster you got that very specific offensive linemen. That are part of your run game. They're better run game. Blockers than pass game blockers. You have to have very specific tight ends. That are part of your run game more so than your vertical stretch pass game and you got to have very specific receivers and so to make it work. They went all in in. One of those pieces gets taken away. It has a bigger impact than your traditional. Nfl offensive personnel wise. Because you know when you're a green bay packers you can have a multitude of back that fix your fit your offense offensive lineman or wide receivers because they don't have to be so specific to the scheme with the ravens they have to and when one gets picked off. It's it's bigger than a normal. And i think you look at this. Compared to last year's like the offensive line is different. And it's harder to find those people to replace those different offensive linemen the same the tight end so it's perfect. Storm of the injuries have have been impactful. Defenses have caught up your more predictable. 'cause you're play bookish smaller when you go all in and that offense and lamar is i. I don't look at it as lamar has taken this step back. I think the the confusion that they created against defenses. Last year isn't as confusing. He's dan orlovsky live analyst. If i said you can have the chiefs of the field to win the super bowl in a runaway. No one's beating them here. Here's i wrote this down this morning. This is how the chiefs are going to not win the super bowl this year. I wanna find my notes okay. The chiefs did not win the super bowl that you have to hope that. They played their see game which they haven't really this year. You have to hold the ball as long as you possibly. Can you hold it. You have hold it if it's your run game great if it's your perimeter screen game. It's the quick game in the past game. that's fine you have to force threes and not sevens on defense at least three times. You've gotta make them kick a field goal and not a touchdown you have to make them drive the field. You've got to stop the explosive past game. So many coordinators got gotta stop the run. You know you have to stop the explosive past game. Make mahomes play barring football You've got to be able to have a quarterback that can create special place as much as mahomes does. He's gotta match. The i went above the xs and os plays as much as homes does so and then in the fourth quarter. You gotta make more big place. People think it's the tennessee. Titans that can beat the chiefs. If you told me they had taylor lewan. It'd be a little bit more on board with that. I think the team that can do it as the buffalo bills. I think the bills can go punch for punch with them. Offensively are the quarterback can make some like weird place that go above xs and os and they could be explosivea defensively but kansas city was lucky to win the super bowl..

"Seven eastern only on nbc. Albert breer had this tweet and he said nothing's more indicative of our nation's handling of the pandemic than the forty niners situation. They've been forced out of santa clara county. Because of new covid nineteen policies. They're going to maricopa arizona. Accounting maricopa has nearly twice the cases per capita that. Santa clara has but the niners are going to go there to play two games. he's dan orlovsky the former. Nfl quarterback who can check him out weekdays on espn's nfl live at four eastern also contributes to some other programs on the mothership including getup sportscenter. First take more. I always learn something when we have him on in. Dan joins us on the program. Dan good morning explained that logic to me that the niners can't play at home but they're gonna play in arizona where the covid situation as far as testing is higher twice as high as it is in santa clara. Be talking about football often. So my brain cells can't figure that out. But i know they found a way to make their games happen which is the most important thing to the nfl and hopefully everyone stays safe. But that's above my pay grade but it feels like this is whatever it takes to get to the postseason. We saw this with the nba and the bubble the nhl new bubble. We saw this with major league. Baseball does the nfl have blinders on that. It's just whatever it takes. We're playing these games. Even if it's not a true representation of the teams that we expect to be on the field. I think. I think that the reality is this actually got into a friend of mine. Who's an attorney last night about this. Because she asked me you. Think the season's going to be viewed the same or water down said no. I think. I think because there's a lot of challenges tied to it that it will still be weighed equally if not greater because of those challenges. I said i do think that this week needs to be a huge learning example for the nfl. Because you know the ravens have to play their game because they're covert outbreak. They got a thousand stars out. But a lot of like you know their quarterbacks out which is obviously a huge deal and it may not be that big a deal because it's the regular season and sixteen games and it's not a lose and go home sudden-death environment but what would happen if there was the first or second round.

He'll be joining us at the an hour number three and there's news pop everywhere Here in the world of sports including what just came out of san francisco. I guess out of santa clara san francisco forty niners just tweeting out. Moments ago at forty niners The information that we've been all waiting for over the last several days about where the forty niners are going to be playing their football games in weeks. Thirteen and fourteenth santa clara county. We're back here on the rich. Eisen show radio network santa clara county where the forty niners are based announcing over the weekend that there are new kovic restrictions through december twenty first where contact sports are allowed to practice or play and apparently again Kyle shanahan mentioned this after his nine. Beat the rams coming off their bye week yesterday. He mentioned how the forty niners learned of this on the flight down. So and mike florio on our number one said that the niners were gonna take one last run at santa clara county to say essentially really and the answer came back from santa clara county. Apparently really and the forty niners have announced that they are going arizona. they are going to arizona. They will play in the home of the arizona cardinals over the next two weeks. Arizona is a matter of fact. Interestingly enough has a home date against the rams this coming sunday but the forty niners game is not until monday night so their home date with buffalo monday night or thirteen capper and then their home date with the washington football team in week fourteen. Two pretty darn big football games for everybody involved. That's currently the the deep division leaders in both conferences eastern divisions and those are dates that will be played for arizona in san of san francisco arizona because arizona's on a on a road game in week fourteen. And then i guess maybe san francisco. Maybe the niners can leave some belongings down there. Because they're right back to play arizona in arizona on the saturday of christmas weekend. It was just announced. That's part of the header of games. That are played on a saturday of week. Sixteen so i guess the forty niners are are going to be spending some time in in glendale jed york the owner of the forty niners tweeting out. Thanks to michael bidwill of the cardinals just moments ago. So that's the latest on all of that. Now what were you going to ask me. You're asking me something. Yes so at the end of our conversation with dan orlovsky he said grew up. Watching you. big fan you know thank you thank you it cetera et cetera and you exchange glances. This has happened more than a few times over the decade. We've been doing this together and my question for you is. What is your of guttural reaction when you hear guests say you grew up watching you big fan. Well i guess if you heard. I think i made an audible like something like that right so i'll take it as a compliment because i'm fortunate to have done this long enough legend in the game. I don't know. I'm on par with jim brock. Mar quite frankly so but Kind of does hit me. I looked in the commercial break dinner. Losses thirty seven years old meaning. When i did my first sportscenter. You could do the math. He was twelve getting ready for. I'm wondering i'm wondering is bar mitzvah. No lobski member of the trump. I don't know. I don't know usually i'll reach out to jeff schwartz. I think he's the arbiter of who. Who is it he would no. I mean rich and fairness. I grew up. You know what i mean. So it's like you only got me by eleven years so it's not you know we'll take it. I will take especially since unlike the young justin. Herbert i look more distinguished and refined with less hair. Like the anti samson. Thank you for laughing at that. Can't be precise. I appreciate you guys laughing at that. I don't give complementary laps either. That was actually fine. I appreciate that. Thank you just not throwing stuff out. All willy nilly what you're saying. Let's take some phone calls here on the rich eisen show and then we'll take a break and then we'll do overreaction monday okay. Mike in pennsylvania. You're here on the rich eisen show. What's up mike. Rents what's up buddy. What's on your mind sir. I wanted to check into First of all real quick. Before i jump jump into the meat and potatoes in my call and start getting angry Okay i i wanna this show for being here for me well for a long time but mostly within the last four months i meant to talk about this on wednesday but i had to go roller therapy but i broke my heels. I fell off my roof. stacks Back in the summer. So i work out walking back and forth in their room. Listening to you guys. I can't thank you enough. Bless your man. And i i. I know you're a big eagles fan and you're concerned about tonight. And nobody's brought up penn state to me yet which is great. I did see anthony adams tweet in my direction but it's all good. It's all good now. That's all bad. As a matter of fact. I'm not i'm not bringing a ammo knocking you at all about the whereas rather the loop when it comes to the race but i'm talking about the The the thing that angers me about this playoff selection committee is 'cause they did the same thing ninety. Four when penn state went undefeated. okay The the first year. We're doing the big ten. We'd be are gonna rose bowl. Never forget this. Who do they put above us. The miami hurricanes because they beat nebraska old miami. And now they're doing the same thing with ohio state because Got know of this virus everything up to now. They have to cancel the next two games or supposedly If they say they don't play in the big ten championship game or whatever right probably put them at number four right up naming. Here's the thing mike. Thanks for the call. Enjoy your eagles tonight. Hopefully they they give you they give you a little bit of a boost. Look i said it. Put eighteen ohio state they as you know. Ryan day has covert. He's covered positive. The game against illinois was cancelled. They're not gonna be able to end the big time doesn't make it up so it's just one game at ohio state is not gonna put out there and i know ohio state didn't blow out indiana by.

"Eisen show is on the air here. Top of hour number two. we've got Already a conversation with mike florio pro. Football talk in the books. Dan orlovsky is going to be joining us from. Espn to give his two cents in what we saw last night from mitchell trubisky in yesterday afternoon late afternoon from tom brady to quarterbacks that are coming off of losing sundays to say the least matt nagy just delivering quite a Soliloquy today in his presser talking about his group needing more personal pride and having some freaking respect self respect. I mean my gosh talk about you know delivering messages through the media and what that would actually mean so. We'll get that those sound bites prepared. Dan orlovsky going to be joining. Also talk about The lions firing near coach and matt patricia. And i know he has been a again. We came up with the phrase. Just the last hour standing for jim call as i did on twitter. And got hosed. I mean just lit up the came at you. Know who that's That's not that's definitely not a an understatement. Tj jefferson so He'll be joining us on that front before we do though. couple Items lost in our first hour conversation. Cleveland browns are and three. Let's just keep talking about the. Let's just keep talking about. It would prefer that probably right. Let's just keep talking about crazy. What was jarvis. Landry stat line. Yesterday juice was squeezed. Man and in the state of florida. Nick chubb doing his thing. That's it and baker mayfield. I don't think he threw an interception yesterday. Ditty you wanna look that one up. I don't think he did. And if he didn't that's That's four straight games in his career without first time for straight games in his career without an interception jarvis. Landry eight for one hundred forty three yards. What mayfield him in that game and that box score. I mean he was terrific. Cleveland browns rating free baker mayfield. Nine thousand nine hundred thousand nine two touchdowns zero interception sixteen passer and you're dressed again is As cam newton coming off a victory cam newton l. less than one hundred yards passing less than ten completions w. o. That's your your take on on is what you're wearing is that sarah's no actually went to a department store in los angeles yesterday you bought us out a ten dollar blanket and cut a hole in the neck is the closest i could come to that i can imagine. Camp did not go to a blanket store. Well that does look like cutting a rug from phrase the best i can do. I'm with brockman. I'm with chris. Brockman cutting a rug. Today you tj. And then before we get the dan. How about. Those dallas cowboys. We could skip this non-sustainable this is definitely can could just cowboy. It's like it never happened. I mean that was dreadful. That was truly an unacceptable thanksgiving performance. There's just i know hosts in those like this format. Talk about embarrassment disaster unacceptable. What some of the other words that we've heard shameful shameful. Right shame disgraceful. That's the one eight. come on. Beachfront property thanksgiving coming off of that win. In minnesota here comes washington football team town. Come on now come on now. Is the team at knocked. Your quarterback silly come on now and their offensive line. Got banged up. But zeke tomlin again fourth and inches your own side of the field where we can do and zeke fumbled. But he's still makes ninety million bucks back there that's why you got him off of the beach in mexico to pay all that money give it to him for crying out loud sneaking no. Let's be cute and throw it what. Don't even throw it. Amari cooper i what and then when your defense comes up with a pick. Six and great play by terry maclaurin. By the way. I mean it wasn't like decay metcalf in the whole length of the field but he didn't give up jalen. Smith got tackled and that costs four points. That was the difference as well after the pick. Six and a three and out. It's twenty two sixteen and your defense a on that three hundred forces upon and then you Punt yourself and you fake it. And i know jerry jones said that you know this was a maneuver because things were not going their way and they need to do something shakeup. I'm paraphrasing here. It was twenty sixteen and then the play in look when you go fake punt and it doesn't work. It's very rarely looks pretty. This was particularly ugly particularly ugly and then dalton throws a pick six to alignment. I ain't dreadful. Just absolutely positively awful and if they loo- e even if the eagles lose tonight is in last place and here. I thought that they had the best roster and they were gonna come off that winning minnesota went on thanksgiving. Take on a ravens team. That's definitely banged up and start getting some win behind their backs. This things i i mean. I don't see it. I don't see it at all. I see terrible coaching decisions. I see insignificant decisions become completely huge just like previous years and i see mistakes just terrible. Yeah there's going to be less. Nope i the only thing. I'll say i felt for you brother. He's giving you know having marcus paul. Pass away a few days ago previous to the game that i'm sure that kind of weighed on them. But you're right a lot of the mistakes that they made the old playcalls tribute appreciate you bringing that up. You're talking about the strength and conditioning coach. Who passed away And the manner in which he apparently had happened at the facilities. We know when he had to be taken to the hospital. It's terrible it's awful and You know and they they they were thinking of playing with the proverbial heavy hearts. We've all been there but it's two thousand sixteen and a fake punt was terrible idea. Yeah absolutely and made no sense to call it the way they called it in the play you know where from earn twenty four. You'd think you'd think when a gunner starts going behind her that something's up. I mean what sort of play call was that..

"That showing a lack of comfort confidence trust belief in what's going around to you don't want it to look like. like it's out of control. You want it to look like you're just ready to play football and almost like a shortstop is as he pitchers pitching the ball. Feeder ready and constantly moving. He's ready for that ball to get hit into either whole between him second base or third base where Jimmy looks to be on my gosh. I don't know what to do with the football panicky and that to me is the the biggest issue more than does he mechanically look flawed? If snacks Harrison shows up in a couple of weeks. In Seattle and if Jamal Adams gets right and maybe if John Schneider can trade something for some sort of pass rusher. Or, the SEAHAWKS. Really. Good or are they destined to be one of these teams? It's GONNA have to score thirty five every week to win. Now. The seahawks would be really good. If. It's not that they need to have a dominant pass rush. You know like I said, this couple of weeks ago the SEAHAWKS has slipped years ago it was having dominant defense and offense be good enough like just be good enough especially situationally like when we needed, you get the game to the fourth quarter. Be Good enough they've flipped. Offenses Right now dominant in defense just be good enough just be situationally good enough to get us off the field in the fourth quarter for one more possession. Now, that's certainly like a dangerous way to live I so to speak but with the secondary, that's long you know I think that Neil thirty five is going to be a really impactful player moving forward for them on their defense he's built like one of their corners but he's playing nickel inside for them but their defense doesn't need to be great. It just needs to be okay in their pass rush becomes. Okay. then. They're for real for sure. Dan Orlovsky. I'M GONNA ask you about two of your former teams that you spent a year with each. One is Houston one is Indianapolis. You're in Houston ten years ago this year. And when I think about the Houston Texans right now and what they're going to do next I think about and this is a lazy way to look at it. What coach what system is going to be best for Shawn Watson. If you're cal, McNary owner the Houston. Texans. What direction relooking in for head coach and you have one in mind you think would be ideal for the Shawn Watson. That's a great question I'd say this. We've become consumed with offensive football in the NFL especially at the head coaching hiring position but you still have to remember that it's about leadership in organization.

Detroit Lions cancel practice to speak out against Jacob Blake shooting

"The Lions canceled practice today to protest the shooting of Jacob Blake. Cell Phone video showed Blake was shot multiple times in the back by Wisconsin. Police his father says he's paralyzed from the waist down today. Instead of practicing the Lions chose to address reporters as a team in front of their building to deliver a message that they will be part of the change in the United States against police brutality. Here's quarterback Matthew Stafford on what the day meant to him. No football was talked about We were brought together and coach just open the floor. We knew they were going to be guys in there. That had heavy hearts and guys that had similar situations or close calls that have happened to them and needed to get it off their chest and and those conversations lasted for hours and it was incredible to part of just like it was all spring. but it was the first time that. You know we've we've really dedicated a chunk of time to talk about it when we're all in the building together you know we understand it about America and about. People in miracle is that. A narrative king, Carnegie shifty. We understand this sacrifice. You know. You might step on toes you might have some feathers but. In, order for change to happen or something to happen you know someone has to be uncomfortable in you. Know I think everyone inside these walls understand that understand what is going to come with the lasted make them with. A powerful statement from the Lions Today Marc Spears Dan Orlovsky Munich here on nfl live Marcus as you saw this unfolding just hours ago. What's your reaction? Is Important in looked the whole monographs stick to sports. Athletes in activism. The things that we talk about this is no longer a land that you draw and I know everybody likes to run and huddle away and say sports is supposed to be a refuge and let's just do sports and don't worry about these things going on what people have to understand is these situations affect the sportsman, the guys that are actually playing the Games. These are real life scenarios that they live through and I thought what Matt Staffer said was so important to listen to the stories of guys that have been through these types of situations before and have feared and the things that they express. So I think what the lines are are doing is admirable. It totally makes sense for the stick to sports crowd. Look you're no longer living in that generation. These guys have voices they want to use them to make us all better and I think everybody should attach themselves to that and applaud that as opposed to trying to find reasons why they should just play ball and not worry about the things that are happening in their communities.

Cam Newton reaches deal with the New England Patriots

"In football cam Newton heading to New England the former NFL MVP has agreed to a one year deal to join bill Belichick and the New England Patriots ESPN's Dan Orlovsky says this move automatically makes the pats a contender in the AFC once again but if he's healthy this is a problem for the A. S. C. because now the patriots certainly have somebody at the quarterback position that's got experience that's got talent and any any any way that Josh McDaniels probably has never had both in the run game and a multiplicity they can do with that scheme Newton had spent the last nine years and I suppose the first nine years of his career as a Carolina

"You guys really believe it's an offer you can't refuse because Peter King saying you gotta give up four first round picks to get Joe Borough from the bengals and the bengals according to Schefter according to Schefter. The bengals are saying an unequivocal. No to anyone who talks about trading up. It is an offer that people can refuse. According to Schefter I would advise the bengals that these words have never come out of Joe Boroughs Mouth Cincinnati Bengals and I would take the godfather offer. You have a chance if you the bengals to get a quarterback and get another player you have a chance to get the third and fifth big. Tonight's draft and all you have to do is give up a guy who refuses to say your name. Oh if I'm Chris Greer. I bring up the background from the restaurant and the Godfather when I zoom over to Mike Brown and the bengals and make him an offer. He can't refuse Miss Defining Godfather offering that. I don't believe this is an offer. The bengals can't refuse this. I don't believe you to say no to the three and five if you're GonNa Miss Defining Godfather offer another pick in there to make it a godfather offer a kid. Just be three and five for borough has to be three and five and more. It could be more. What are you know but this offer Dan? It's an offer they can't refuse. That's all we know. We know that the bengals are going to accept the offer. The part of hard part is getting number three because if they get into three. They're very clearly getting number one because it's godfather offer they can't refuse. Let me explain today and how this works once. You're the dolphins and you committed to give up the third and fifth. Pick it tonight after all in you will go as far as you need to go to get the Bengals to say yes. You'll eventually put the offer in front of them that they want the can't say no offer. It might not be three and five but the dolphins will not stop until they get a. Yes. That's how the Godfather offer works well. Billy's got a different definition. I don't know why Roy has written on the group Chat Gif Oh I know what that means. But I don't know what it is. That Royce thinking billy. Your thoughts are what on the Godfather offer? That's not actually a godfather offer. Because it can. She had fo- Danza Godfather. "So last year Mike Ryan and Stu Gods uncommonly happy that the draft to derive their team's terrible. They were very excited about the browns and the jets being in the game on. Draft Day today. The most excited person around here is Chris Cody. He slept in his Miami dolphins gear. He has just been like during breaks yelling at us that this is a normal weekend in sports for him draft draft draft. Jordan documentary the landmarks and life. Or just these these sports outposts and Stugotz I you know. I don't like the draft but one of the things I all. There are many things I don't like about the I don't like the instant analysis afterward when the people picking don't even know if they've actually made their team better. I don't like all the mock drafts. I think the mock drafts is one of the dumbest things in sports and yet Chris. Cody is all excited here. Because Mel kiper junior has again changed his mock draft in the latest mock draft. He was mad at Mel kiper junior for having Herbert in one mock draft. He's gone back and forth a bunch of times. I don't know if this is his final. Mock draft or the final before the final mock draft. But now he's got the dolphins taking to what is it about the day off coverage or the stuff that you're reading about and hearing because I I don't care what next to anybody is saying because everyone's being lied to. The dolphins can't take her to and an offensive lineman with number five. They can only use one of those things but now everyone's talking about the dolphins were trying to trade up with the bengals to get to Joe. Borough that is Adam schefters report. You have the report of reports today. Dan As we inch closer to the to the twenty twenty. Nfl draft on draft day. The draft is tonight. Then there's a report from Mike Florio that the dolphins are trying to acquire the third pick in tonight's draft. Okay without giving up the fifth pick and then taking the third and fifth pick in tonight's NFL draft and making the Godfather offer to the Cincinnati Bengals to try to move up to number one. It is a special day when you have godfather offer be measured on the actual day of the draft. What today all right. Please forgive my ignorance here and explained to me because Mike got very excited. When you simply mentioned the phrase Godfather offer threes. Explain it to the audience. That does not know why it is. You're so excited about. The Godfather offered Dan Godfather offer and audience is an offer. You cannot refuse. Oh.

"You it's not working. Is it working now or is it still not working? Do you just have a buffering symbol of your computer or what's happening? All I have is a ten seat. Okay we'll give me give me the tendency then please. Rex Ryan looks like a guy who comes out of the bathroom and exclaims this. Ride is closed. Okay and REX. Ryan is crazy van Gundy. Who looks like the guy when eating a hot dog? Has the hotdogs slip out of the back of the Bun when trying to take the first bite? That's we have not been able this week because every once in a while we get our puppy Pause end up on the tile floor and we don't actually get running to the place that we intend to go so we've got a week's worth of polls to update here at Lebatardshow that will tell you what our show has sounded like this week in some of the things we've been talking about here before draft day. What are you have? There's to God's going back to Monday in terms of updating polls remember Sunday night was the debut of the Bulls documentary. So did you wear Jordan gear last night? Eighty seven percent of the audience. Said no no are Mike Jordan and Scottie. Pippen less good such a good question. Great Question Sixty. Eight percent of the audience said yes. Sixty eight spreads if not higher. I mean Mike Jordan and Scottie. Pippen are coming off the bench. Both of them. Do you want to look like Pat Riley? When you're seventy five. He looks great he does. He looks great. Eighty six point. Five percent of the audience said yes. I mean who WanNa look like that? When they're seventy five honestly should stay on Stugatz his tombstone. I tried to go into this with as little information as possible. Of course you want a documentary right. I asked you. Did you read any of the articles about the documentary and you just said no? I tried to go into these things with as little information as possible. Ninety seven percent of the audience said yes. That should be tombstone. Why are people like this? This of course is in response to Brooks kept putting up on his social media a stake in asparagus and somebody said while people are suffering and not eating and Scott Van Pelt wandered into the mentions and just as wire people like this. Why why are rich people allowed to eat during this pandemic? If you're the person who questioned that why are people like this. Eighty percent of the audience said yes. Stop taking pictures of your dinner. Eighty five percent of the audience said yes is steak and corn as arrogant as steak and asparagus. I'm eighty six eighty six percent of the audience. Now yes this relates to the question that Chris Cody. Posed is asparagus. Arrogant does asparagus. Look condescendingly down at all the other vegetables does. I do I a lot of time on this on I Chris I think off. The air was calling it asparagus. Eighty four percent audience. Yes are you using your phone as a phone more than you have the last twenty years? Great Question Fifty. Nine percent of the audience said yes. Do you lie to get off the phone just Monday? All right we'll get back to more of these polls give us the final percentage for Monday's polls ninety three percent of the audience said yes. They lied to get off the phone. Chris. Can you help me with something please? Because I didn't I didn't hear what you were saying about. Cal ripken junior before you were saying you hated to say something about cal ripken junior. But it didn't stop you from saying but I didn't hear what you were saying so yesterday I had the honour talking to Tim. Kirch in for a while for something that we're going to be releasing a little bit on the mystery create. I don't know if it's next week we're going to be releasing eventually and I was just giddy about it. I was talking to a friend about it last night. And we ended up talking about CAL ripken junior because perkins big orioles fan and then we started talking about his longest active games. Played streak in that that would that would never be broken and we ended up on his box score and I saw that for his career. Cal ripken junior averaged. He batted two seventy for one hundred sixty two game average for his career. He batted two seventy hit. Twenty three home runs and he hit ninety two. Rbi's and I was like I thought CAL ripken was a lot better than that so I looked up the stats from last season and I realized that last year my Florida Miami. Marlins HAD TO CAL. Ripken's on our team and we did not realize it. We had starling Castro who data to seventy in twenty three home runs so I was like. Wow We have a coward junior air the guy. We just signed Jonathan Vr. He had twenty three home runs. Seventy so the MARLINS had to CAL ripken. Juniors on their team Lebatardshow. The positions changed. He was a big power hitting shortstop back. Then and then everyone started crawling through the pharmacy and the shortstops became fifty homerun guys. That Lebatardshow is where you end up if you want to vote on the poll. Today's horoscope brought to you by GEICO. Jim Nine you may find yourself struggling with lert today. That's because you stayed up last night celebrating the hundreds of dollars a year you could save by switching to GEICO. Your struggle will continue well into the afternoon during Philip Status Meeting in which you'll.

I appreciate the column. I appreciate introduction. It Very humbling before we. I want to get into you. Know obviously is here and what you do it. Espn and how it all got started in your opinion on some NFL. Things got to start with this because there was a report from your colleague. Adam schefter recently about several front offices or multiple front offices or multiple teams Having interested in you in their front office vacancies Crazy how Adam schefter got that scoop. I don't know how he pulled that off. So what is there anything you could tell us on that front? Are you interviewing? Are you looking to get in front office? Is it something you'd like to do? What's going on there? Yeah I don't I don't think the shefty's reports anything about front office it did. I thought it said stuff about coaching. I have not been contacted by anybody in the NFL. In regards to a front office role I have had conversations and this really goes back giving twenty seventeen when I retired. I had an offer to go join a coaching staff. Right away to write that year pay. It was not the timing goes back to last year when I had two teams reach out One of them being packers come join our coaching staff. And I didn't feel right doing it then. And then this this year I had five teams reach out and I had some conversations with with some some places to potentially join a coaching staff and Multiple roles some offensive coordinator's role some non playcalling coordinator roles I'm not talking to anybody now that that kind of has settled down and that ship has sailed I coaching something. That's been on my mind. I could see me doing it in the future right now with what? I'm doing and kind of what I'm being afforded to do. I absolutely love it and I'm not looking to do anything else right now. Yeah I'LL I'll I I. I messed that up I I. It was front offices have contacted you about leave. Espn for offensive coaching jobs. That's that's what it was very flattering and I you know I look at what I get to do it. Espn is is very much a form of coaching. It's just different. Coaching in Different Your coaching different people more people than the intimate intimacy of a football team Could see myself doing future of course but I'm not looking to to go jump into that right now. Is a hypothetical if you were ever to take one of those jobs do you have a preference on I mean. Do you have to start out as sort of a quarterbacks coach are you a would you go right offensive coordinator? Would there ever be a situation? You envision like that or would you'd have to maybe move up to offensive coordinator by I don't know. Would you be a wide receivers coach or running backs coach? What would be the ultimate? You know role there. Yeah I mean the ultimate role would be a head coach. You know I had opportunities to go and be an offensive coordinator this year now. Two of those opportunities were non. Play calling offense of coordinators. Where like the head? Coach is the play caller. And they want someone who's going be their offense coordinator passing game corner all that stuff. Now I it's all about the right you know. Is it the right organization with the right head coach? And the right quarterback. That's GonNa Afford success because you know if you're going to get into coaching. You're obviously getting in one for the long term and to to try and climb as high as you can and do it in a relatively timely fashion in you know obviously your goal isn't to go cam just going to get into coaching head coach in two years. And then be done but you don't you know I don't he envisioned myself getting into coaching to try to be a an assistant coach for a decade either. And so with the right place right time right at coach and quarterback. I don't think getting into the quarterback coach has any negative aspect to it. Now right it let. Let's say I pathetically you became an offensive coordinator today of an NFL team. Any team doesn't matter. I'm just curious. Is there something you would want to implement? Is there something you'd think you know you would WANNA do? Maybe more. Is there a play a philosophy? Is there something you have that you think? No one's doing right now that you would wanna bring to the table. I don't there's nothing that no one's doing But I think that there's people who do it better for sure and do it more creative like I have said for. Gosh I WANNA say five or six years right now teams. That don't have the the the the Rob Gronkowski tight end of. The world are totally hurting their quarterback. They're just not helping their quarterback play as efficiently as possible because and I'm not talking about the talent of Gronk. Obviously that is rare right. I'm talking about the the ability of Gronk to be both tight end and wide receiver on every single play If you look at the teams that run really good offensive sets consistently. It is the Philadelphia Eagles. It is the Kansas City chiefs. It is the New Orleans saints with the Jimmy Games. Like you have to have that tight end for information and then match up and then I am. You know I. I look at football nowadays so different When it comes to the quarterback in skill people do believe that twenty years ago. Quarterbacks made other players around them better. I truly believe that nowadays the people around the quarterback make him better. And you can't just have one star or two stars. You have to have five or six really good players around him if you look at the past couple of super bowls in the past year. That offensive have been really good. It's the offense. Is that house five. Six seven skilled people deep because the game. Nowadays it's about space and it's about matchups and Those it'd be like the two focal points. The foundational views of my offense obviously dominant offense fine but when it comes to like the the past game in skilled play. It's not really about having one star the wide receiver position about tight end and then a job and a bunch of really really good skilled players. That deepens is just can't match up with. It is interesting because I I always thought the entire season with so many people talking about the quote unquote decline of Tom Brady I. I'd never thought there was enough attention. Paid to the fact that Gronk this year You know just a completely irreplaceable player on every level and yeah not just again not just the physical performance of Gronk but all the things that they did with grunk to figure out what teams were doing before the snap in. Yeah but then I'd anybody I mean. They had the performance of their skill people. I said this I think like we. Four was the number one issue with their offense. I think if you put Tom Brady on an offense that has four five multiple weapons that are good players again. These aren't superstars but they are really good players. Good good players. Tom Brady bill for forty five hundred yards and thirty five to forty touchdowns be interesting to see who he's doing it for next year. That's for sure you had an interesting spin on the Super Bowl where you thought Mike Shanahan Kyle Shanahan. I'm Sorry College Han You didn't think the criticism of him was fair. Is that a correct assessment. Not at all not at all I thought within I think. Kyle caps the chiefs in the football game. I thought there was a mismanagement of the clock at the end of the first half and then last week how came out and said well. This is why we did it. Because we were so conscious of their the explosiveness of the chiefs offense. We didn't want to give them the football back at the end of the first half. I had two gripes with that one. I think in the Super Bowl when you Feared the other team more than you believe in yourself or your team your coaching to lose your coaching not to lose and he said that the fear that he had of Kansas City was greater than the belief he had himself as a play collar or as or and they're player doesn't often the ability to execute an offense to if you're going to say that and that's your game plan all week as a team to handle the end of the first half cocked. That way there's absolutely no way that you kick a field goal in the second quarter on fourth and two under opening drive in the third quarter on your opening. Drive the second half. There's no way can do. You can't sit there day. We don't want to give them the ball back. We understand how explosive there on offense right but then feel good audit fourth in two kicking a thirty yard field goal like it. You're going to say they're so explosive on offense. You don't WanNa give him any time within. Your viewpoint has to be there so explosive on offense. That threes aren't GonNa win you the football game either. Four and five and seven. We could have a different conversation to I think he kept him in the game. The run on second and five near the end of the game with about six minutes to go one hundred percent. The accurate play. Call the right play called. They did the same set. The play of the series before they did a player can pass the kiddle conversion second five is Iran or passed down. You don't you as a defense. You don't know what they're GONNA do. You don't Wanna ask Jimmy G. to play dropback football on third down and yesterday quarterback to throw five yard pass now he had gone play action pass and took a shot down the field. We could add a different different situation here. We asked him to throw a play action. Pass those five yards down the field Chris. Jones has made a good player. But that's the right call right. It's this is why you know it's amazing. You're the I've heard. Nobody talk about the the field goal on the fourth in to there in the third quarter and I thought to me that was his worst play call of the whole game by far. I that you cannot kick field goals against the chiefs in that situation and to on something else you said. This is why you're the fastest rising stars. They said he was terrified of the chiefs at the end of the first half. And if you also you watch you know there was a great video the NFL released on Youtube of The the final minutes of the chiefs comeback and even when the chiefs scored the chiefs were coming. He was so scared. And that's because even makes a comment to whoever's in his headset about we you know we've only got five minutes here and that we can't get do he. He was scared and not aggressive. And that was. I thought way worse than any of the play calls like you said about the second down there where he threw it. That would be the niners fan. That was telling I thought it was rough. I agree I agree that and I know Carl I played for Kyle..

It's it's really funny because he is taking a flame thrower to golf he is. He's not afraid to say anything. He said. After winning his first major he's is one of the five best golfers in the world and he was right in fact. I think he's probably the best golfer in the world and then bryce into shambo who is the guy who was widely criticized criticized <hes> and held up as a symbol for slow play on the p._g._a. Tour who's also you're kinda guy by the way because he brings a protracted onto the of course i mean he breaks down everything and he's going to take his time over an eight foot putt and this past week and he took two minutes and kept got got mad and he's you know had had saw social media. He's got a pointing out that the shambo is very very slow and so on the practice green the next day <hes> to shambles caddy goes up to kepco or does shambo goes up to a cap because caddies brooks at something to say. Tell them to say to my face. A minute later. Kepco arrives at his face sure love it. I'm sure or and i don't know i don't know how to do this because just the name brooks is not intimidated. The name brooks belongs in golf golf. This attitude does not belong to someone named brooks. His biceps are very intimidating chiseled. Look i think we can all get behind. Let's speed it up a little. It'll in golf but this brooks kept thinks that just because he's won a bunch of majors and he's golfer of the last couple of wait a minute to slow down there just because he's won a bunch of majors majors good enough reason to be out of you. That doesn't mean that every golfer now needs to act exactly like i do sorry brooks capture that you don't need to practice and that you walk up to every ball and just swing right away in your amazing. Sorry that doesn't work for everybody we. They've been playing golf a longtime. Sorry i'm going to read this putt granted to to the point though of speeding up golf bryson or whatever his name is the shampoo over that for two minutes and then missed the putt. There's gonna stand over two minutes and it's eight feet. You gotta make with that. I just feel this arrogance from books. Cavill we get it. You're great but you're not gonna change golf. Not everybody is going to start just gripping and ripping it all right. Some people are going to read putts. Get over yourself. I'm actually with chris on this. I love that kept good just just like hey you know what i say to my face and then he's in your face saying i do love that part of kept gaza but i also agree with chris blight pace. If you wanna play quickly go ahead what otherwise low in chris cody is arguing against happy gilmore. Why why are you arguing against the golfer who comes out there and there's just take urinating on all of golf's ruined not happy gilmore. He's not saying let's go out there and be wacky and fun he's saying let's everyone do exactly how i say. Let's be quick. No speedup hurry up happy. It went like this Julio Jones one John Hopkins to Antonio Brown three. WHO's the best wide receiver in the N._F._l.? How have the put down your Hopkins at the top? <hes> deandre Hopkins is in in the class. You know I would keep A._B.. Out of it I would put Julio Hop and Michael Thomas and a really grouping their own. Those guys are all special or good route runners physical breaks but the thing that separates A._p.'s there but the thing that separates them those guys don't even have to worry about getting open a lot of times. They're open all the time and that's not said in sarcasm. Those guys can still be covered by great corners and make the contested the difficult the impossible possible catch because of the body control so those guys. I don't know if there's necessarily one that separates himself on the other depend on their quarterback play stuff but those guys that's three grouping is is just in a different class of its own in the breaking news of the day is the Saints Wide Receiver Michael. Thomas did not show up for the first day of training camp. He's looking for a new contract in New Orleans E._S._p._N.. Football Insider Dan Orlovsky Stephen Smith show with will cain fill in Dan. I just laid this out man. I said Julio Jones wants to hit three thousand yards. Obviously that a record he is second to Calvin Johnson most receiving yards in a single season and it got me thinking and I just laid this out. What's the most unbreakable single season record in the N._F._l.? Here's what I said. I want to get your feedback on this. There's there's there's two essentially it's rushing touchdowns. In total touchdowns rushing touchdowns Ladainian Tomlinson with twenty eight and total touchdowns is also ladainian Tomlinson with thirty one in what I noticed and looking back over the stand. It's not necessarily decline of the running game what it is is the versatility and the diversity of offense. They're just not giving it to one dude anymore. They're not handing it's one running back not throwing it to one wide receiver so no one player is racking up touchdowns the way they did what we're looking at is now almost over a decade ago see. I can see those going down because there's oftentimes in an N._F._l.. Season where like weird stuff happens for a quarterback will have forty completions down to the two yard line and I know so you do end up painting it off and those you get those kind of cheap touchdowns. We've seen some changes dad like the little quarterback in the shotgun flip pass to receiver on these jets sweeps and they end up in touchdown passes but I do believe that we'll get back to do you know sometimes haning the ball down in the red zone and because it comes so infatuated with the pass down there. It's been over a decade those two records rushing touchdowns in total touchdowns. No one's come close. I mean come close in almost yet decade cater more but they're so like again. You can have a freaky situation. I remember the lines went through this. We're like Stafford had a year. We had like twenty touchdowns but twelve times the receiver. Was You tackled that the two yard line <hes> I just I think that those can get broken especially with thirty one touchdown by somebody I would say there's two that stand out to me one O. J. Simpson average two hundred forty three yards rushing per game for a season. I don't see that happening anytime soon soon if ever because obviously tying to the running back and and how many times the guys are going to carry football and the evolution of how important is or how much more beneficial to pass but how about this let me throw weird as you do the bears defense in nineteen thirty two allowed forty four points that that that will that will never not happen again. That's that'd be I mean there's teams giving up forty four points a game so we will never that that's something that will will not be broken. That's fair. Super Bowl 2019: Pregame coverage before Patriots vs. Rams

"The game, of course, is a big part of it. But also there are other sort of story lines beyond the the Rams and the patriots in a couple of them. There are interesting to me is I want to start Myron with with with gronk. He's kind of had a resurgence a little bit here in the playoffs starting to see a little bit of the gronk of bold wrestlemainia is the first Sunday in April. I'm of the belief that I'm going to see grog make his debut in the WWE it wrestlemainia and then his time in football. Is over. After today. Do you agree with that? And do you think that whatever happened today win or lose could have any effect either way? Well, I think that makes a lot of sense excuse me, especially because you're talking about a guy who can probably get millions of dollars on a pretty limited. Wrestling scheduled Cadillac around. Arousing Brock Leser, like it's not like the old days where he's going to have to wrestle three hundred days out of the year. This guy's going to get paid to show up on special events and make millions. He's talked so much about how much money he saved throughout his career. He's talked about not wanting to play too long. I don't know if today affects anything because he's a first ballot hall of Famer whether he wins or loses today, he's got a bunch of money in the Bank. And I think he could be the next rock in. In. I think he could be that. He's got a personality. You're not a wrestling guy. He's not the rock rock. Am wrestling. He could be that. Well, rock started out as what rocky my via. He was fighting from the family name. And then he emerged as his own way. I can't broadcast that personality in the WWE. We'll promote him. I think he could become a superstar who eventually goes in the movies and forgets football. All right. I I'm not going to argue with the wrestling part of it. But because you're wrong. But Dan, do you think this is it for I? Yeah, I do. But I do believe that tonight's result swings that okay? I can see if they lose tonight especially in close ballgame Brady convincing gronk for another year. Come back for another year. Don't forget is AO win the first round tackled. It's not part of this team. He'll be back. Like, we give me one more run. Gronk I can see that happening. Now, if they win I do believe that he calls it a career as he rightfully shit. Don't take don't. Remember, the comments he made this last week of him talking about the wear and tear, and how much it weighs on you. Mentally, and how hard it is to get hurt and have to practice, and how difficult it that difficult of a thing that is now to say that he's the next rock is absolutely outrageous. Like the row how first of all the rock is the rock was a guy that went into wrestling because that was the the the means to an end that was the vehicle. News and his family had been. He was going to you second of all the rock is incredibly business savvy and Hollywood savvy works like a dog like this is a guy. When it comes to football. Yes. When it comes to training for football. Yes. But he doesn't. I mean, the rock literally works like a dog. I need more talking about the rotten. Now. I saw the rock when he was in survivor series as rocky my via no one knew he wasn't good. And he was trying to figure out who he would be gronk could come in in the social media air, which rocketed the rock didn't come in in the social media era. All I'm saying is gronk could be a superstar in wrestling. Well, let me add gronk is only he's only twenty nine it feels like he's been around forever damnit. He's only twenty nine now he's taking a lot of hits bodies like a forty year old guy. But I guess what I'm saying is listen to countdown to kickoff on ESPN radio you've been through this process and Myron, and I haven't the process to decide you know, what that's it. Right. That's a hard process for every athlete. No matter the level, whether you're elite or not is it in part of it. I think is do I have something to go. Do do you think? I mean, we we talk about wrestling and a lot of people may roll their eyes. But it is something I know he can do if he wants whether it can be great or not he can do it is that talked to me about the process of saying I'm walking away. And and how how how players go through that mindset. Yeah. I mean for for me, you know, it was a great majority of it was I don't love the crap anymore. Doesn't it feel like he doesn't either? Yeah. I mean, that's that's no you're not gonna pay. Now granted if someone was going to pay me five million dollars. I would have dealt with it again, if someone's gonna pay gronk ten or twelve million dollars, maybe, but you get you deal with the crap. Like, so many people doing their job you do with that crap. Because you still love it. You love all the things that competition the locker room, the fellas the drive to be great the work, you love all that. And then once you don't love the dealing with the crap anymore that stuff doesn't matter anymore. It's not worth it anymore. And that's when you start facing the question of do I wanna do this anymore? And it makes it completely now. When I went through my transition, I wasn't for sure. Like, I was like all right. I want to get into analysts in broadcasting get into TV TV. And I was like I'm just gonna go rather than sitter sitting around. And wait. So I knew that there was at least the opportunity there for me. Gronk scan have way more. More than I had presented to him. But if you get to that point where you're done loving, the crap that you have to deal with and there are avenues for you to go. It makes it such an easier decision in move for you to go. You know what I'm done? Here's the next Chad having those options, I do think is is huge. You will have a lot of options. And you didn't know when you quit you're going to get to do a show with Matt Jones in my. But then sometimes I have earlier if I did exactly the Lord's blessing. There you are. So let's talk about the next to the players on the field. Maybe the person that has the most sort of its state today. Myron is your guy Tony Romo? I mean. I'm not sure an announcer has gotten this level of praise maybe ever like universal praise of people going Stephen Smith said is the best performance he'd ever seen from an announcer. And so the thing is that's awesome. Except you've got one more game. And I always of the opinion the most important two days in your life or the first in the last at a job. Well, the last impression he's gonna get from us is this game. Is there pressure on him to recreate the magic from two weeks ago? I think there's a ton of pressure on him to do that. And I think the problem is announcers like him who get this early praise. How many of them go down as being folks? And a lot of people don't like, you know, it's unfortunate because you start out liking guys like Tony Romo. He deserves all of this praise, but because you expect now people expect him to be some profit every game the minute. He shows any sort of flora weakness people are gonna jump onto that and start to criticize him. But I think he's facing more pressure than any announcer at a Super Bowl or any analysts had a Super Bowl that I can remember because people think he's like something we haven't seen before. And now he's going to have to deal with that pressure. Incomes care like most of the time. I'll be honest with you, Dan. I don't even know who the announcers are until I realized what network game is on. But with Romo I mean, there are prop bets on how many he's gonna call. Like, this is he is not the biggest story the game is. But you know, he's the second third or fourth. Biggest story. I think a big part of it too is like people are having a ton of fun listening to him. Torino because not only is he very good at what he does in. I've said this as a broadcaster networks you better have quarterbacks on there. Because you you've gotta be able to get people to understand the game different levels that communicated to all kinds of people. But it's the fact of he continuously telling educating people on the wise in house put it's fun. Like, you're having fun. Like John Madden was the last announcer. Who seemed like he was having as much fun as Romo, and it's it's okay. For him to talk over Jim Nance for a second. Because if you were sitting at a bar with your friends are in the living room having a beer with your friends. You talk over your buddy here in this moment. So it's not like this. You know in cookie cutter ish. Oh, we don't do that. Because it's television. But what happens if I'm saying is really good. Then I'm gonna do it. You know? And I think that there is that appreciation for for from people going like this is really good. And he's telling me stuff, that's really. Good. But also like the fact that there's really nobody else on TV sounding like him in ways. Like that like talking over Jim Nance, Jayme lake. It just seems like he's having a blast doing it. There are very few announcers who make the crossover into a personality that they matter Madden did mired. I'd say Barkley has vital. Did like there are many. And I think romo's headed groups, Dan Orlovsky will continue to be on. Would you agree with that? Yes. I think he is definitely in that group of guys where you go. You're now going to watch games because romo's attached to it doesn't matter the game because he's gonna make any game more interesting. Just because of who he is become he's become a part of the game now, and that's a good thing. Because like damn fed people. Like, I think I honestly think there are very few announcers that them just being there matters. I think John Madden. Did I think dick Vitale did Bill Walton? I think dick Vitale did. And I think I think Tony Romo is is sort of becoming like that who's going to win the game. After all this talk who actually is going to

"We're gonna take away your best player. They're probably going to do everything they can to take Aaron Donald out of the game. And so does soon dummy affect the way he has the first two games. I also really take a a loss conversation or something that probably won't get talked about enough is this. The patriots have become. Smash mouth football team in doing. So they've utilized the fullback Devlin more than any team in football. The Rams really played with one inside linebacker, and then they play with Mark baron who is an ex safety that. Yes does play linebacker. But we all know, he's not a linebacker. He's a two hundred fifteen to two hundred and twenty pounds kind of athlete, and I got to imagine that Josh mcdaniels embellish sector going to go. We're gonna make sure that we put Devlin on Mark, Barron. Space mask a lot in. We're gonna make Mark Barron. Fifties runs versus are really good fullback at ton. And I believe that's going to be a huge advantage for New England and just controlling the clock. When you flip it, you gotta understand like Bella chicks, go the only way this team beats me is if we're bad in the play action games, and we are bad in the play action defense. I got to imagine that. But when you look at how they're gonna play they're gonna play really slow on the second and third levels defensively. They're not their linebackers will not be flowing to the ball. He's gonna put a guy at the point of the bunch. He's gonna force that run to be back into the middle of the field, and those linebackers just gonna play slow and go Sean McVay this is Super Bowl. We're gonna force you to run the ball forty five times. Are you patient enough to run the ball forty bucks on those are a couple of things that I'm watching the game? I'm going that is going to have huge swing impact on the outcome. Is the man as you can tell Dan Orlovsky follow him on Twitter. Dan, Roloff ski seven that. You know, everything is doing for. Yes. PIN get up and radio and game broadcasts. He had a terrific really first season in the media. Didn't unbelievable job. I love any chance. I get to chat with him.
