"Do you think that like a secure bridges could potentially elite institutions to at least perhaps theory. Is you know the platformer mercer. This happens but what role do bit bridges play and other platforms another also capture some of activity. Well i would always debts a relative to do divisions as if it's also on the amounts that are stage. So i would say it's very hard to to know right now it's still in the beginning in ave. Maybe it's the it's a good project to watch and see the album on how would play but institutions to our security for institutions. Something very potent. Because what is at stake is the height. So i mean heart you know if for me into either or a private blockchain because it's given these institutions a insurance. That's things will be safer. So yeah i don't i don't know how to exactly but jesse hardly them using something besides the theory or prime coaches. Do you think an institutional money's gonna change. What defy currently oth- bouts. I can't say what's What's we can make the bar with. Cdc's are try. Let up trying to run on blockchain's sagamore considering public blockchain's What i heard at least in france They are considering watching. I mean they are not going for a single one. They are testing each and every major major blockchain in order to figure out which one would work best bets This is the biggest. The biggest players like states government mean. Anyways this would be highly centralized so it's not gonna be five. Maybe we don't even know if i this when even have access to this money that's normally is is reserved for banks in high in big institutions. So yeah i. I mean i feel i mean. Suck my expertise. I say exactly. But if if i will change how the perception of money for people that can definitely say this. I of the regulatory landscape and grits currently headed in europe. Not not not not afraid at all. Because we had some discussions with many regulators in many countries the common denominator with all of them is that they are all pro innovation and the alike to talk to builders and they would like to see more builders. The only thing is a how defy fits into the currence regulatory frameworks Which i think doesn't so the challenge is how will the future regulations stroke like that will try to regulate defiant. And then now what i like. Is that the regular and very well. I'll give at least the ones we talked to. Maybe we haven't seen the whole the whole the whole richer butts wants. We talked to in multiple countries they like innovation but they are still with. Those institutions are very complex and have different agenda than builders mean they have protection for your protection rules onto laundering. And so on. So how would this look like. I don't think it's going to be as bad as people think. But i definitely think to very heidi jetson. Yeah i mean. This is a topic that i'm personally very invested in an interested about working at down and everything and i feel that at one point. It'll actually come to a head because the agendas are so different. And i really think that. At the moment the builders and the and the regulators are not putting really all their cards on the table like the builders are trying to convince regulators that what they're doing is like innovative and everything. But what i think institutions fail to fully grasp is that crypto and defy is a is a power play i mean it's it's fundamentally there to disrupt central concentrations of power and you know whether whether that becomes apparent irregulars before they regularly crypto or it kind of like comes up after you know we'll like one of this fight is going to get. We'll be disappointed. And i have a feeling that the regulators with the power that you have we'll probably have ended up having upper and you know we might end up with like a future of defy. That looks a lot. More like spotify netflix than bittorrent and which has advantages and like still allows like innovation to foster and everything but like i sort of wild west world where you know the future finance and like world global economies are governed by shattering. Super coders i think is unlikely anything. Add to that or if any reaction to that at all. Yeah i i agree with you in that sense in the world will always have some order in one way or the other in may be human beings expect to have this productivity Dan nuts having any kind of visibility on who has control of so. Maybe it's not going to like this fight again. It's very small and the use cases on very limited today in disruption in changing completely to finish his is not on the table. Here it's moawad zone. The table right now for bills is just making things better. Just making exchange of value better just making essential. Jesus value better is the older today. All right now. And i think no matter what's happened as you said we will have the next exam then amazon prime zone for sure Bats weather we will have a very sophisticated torrens that will be more and more established. I think would have it as well because the blockchain's right now on his theory maybe going as well are hard to cannot be stopped. In what's villain jobless cannot be stopped so maybe other people who didn't have access to finance before we always have this access in that i think is irritable..

Obviously you don't know what you're doing first day full-time first day as a big part of the show. Don't you understand how this works. I know you're not a radio veteran. You play pretend you drag it up for weeks and weeks and i pretend to uh in mind sounds great. That's christmas how you gotta do stuff in post with jerry. Unfortunately why talked jerry. Last night we were talking about how we forget. He was saying Did you say that. I hired kronos. Like i think. I did on the show. Didn't they really said frag has the job and then you said i think i'm pretty sure it's going on no big deal. I think he wanted me drag it out. I don't know not really sure. What but also the greenhouse is going to bring in but also the way you announced. It wasn't like official your i think. Maybe i don't know. But congratulations across. I guess i mean that's good. Yeah i think he's the beginning of a long fruitful relationship jerry. This'll be great now. Why on route get it. Even any rest stops lately like sucking decker. No not on this show pal. Maybe that half a liberal manhattan go. I think it'll be good. We're gonna say why the a jerry this morning. Oh kidding okay. It does piss off which i like okay. No more anger angry. I didn't know almost like i do. He'll get mad at me. But i do say like. I gave him to producers right now. It's pretty hitch. And when he had an opportunity to help me out with the producer he told that guy not to take the job that is kiddingly. Either like you is like. I don't want you shouldn't do it. He did. We determine definitely wasn't kidding. Because that is the dan nuts. So you know he. He said he's not going work for him but he said that is kidding. Kidding me his point was and this is just a study in In i heard the matters and be guidance. And i love it lasted. Watch this running For museums it sounds like charleston. Saying like they did. They talk to jerry in the shower there but I think jerry point was not that but like you have a great thing here. You have a chance. The whole howie carr network one day. Why would you go this barstool like that. You know that was and that's also year old guy who has a political bent. Thinks like that's not really even that'd be like a guy actually understand that if if if a producer dave called me or whatever and was like the opposite was true he was producing spitting checkups right But he said you know. Hey i'm really go this. Am chance to go produce. I have some money. And i don't have a chance to host a show on. I would say personally. I think you're fucking crazy. The analogy i was gonna make is like why. Would you go to this howard stern guy when he could be a. W w the empire right. You could create for jerry. Jerry thinks still howie. Carr matters more than podcasts..

"True but it's like the monkey's paw you pay a price for it right. I guess but that's ideas within the monkey's paw paul's most important to you in the monkey's paw the there's an un expected consequences so like there's this story of jeannie. Jeannie visits a man who has a tiny dick and the guys like. I wish my penis was bigger and the genie's like well okay young man i will grant your wish. What and he's like. Yeah i want my dick to touch the floor. And so the next day the guy wakes up and his feet are really short. And i'm like okay. Let's let's this is wonder woman nineteen eighty-four logic. The man asked the genie for a bigger dick. The genie just heard whatever he wanted to hear and and fucked him up you know then give him what he wanted to punish the guy for desiring things. And that's what i feel like rich people in the hollywood have the idea on the rest of americans. They're like we wanna punish you for wanting to be happening because we're secretly miserable and so when we make a movie that is trying to illuminate the human condition of desire. We understand what desire is because we have all the money we have all the power we have all the resources in the world. We can do anything literally like you know. Hollywood does this point can generate the mandalorian out of thin air with cgi like it. So good that literally. The only limits their imagination their ability to write compelling scripts and characters and so when hollywood is making this movie that's about desire and wishes all they just think is like yeah humanity just wants power and talking and money and tits and you know more power more power and i'm just like oh my god you guys don't get it you gotta completely wrong. I think the the better way of thinking about desire and one movie. That's really good about. Is the incredible. Mr limpet starring don. Not what. i haven't seen that movie in thirty years. You remember that movie. So donald child don knotts and his buddy our sailors on vacation and for some crazy reason. Don knotts is broken heart or something. And he's looking at the watering and he sings a song. I wish i were a fish. And i guess fate grants his wish and he becomes this fish and helps to end world war two by basically trying to use. What are those called the missiles that submarine shoot torpedo paedophiles using his body to deflect the torpedoes and point them at german and japanese boats. And to me. It's such a ridiculous premise. But you know in the movie like don. Knotts has to reckon with the fact that he got his wish. Come true and it came with unexpected consequences and you get a very lonely. Does fishy wife. the fish literally. Thanks for being fast. She'd of fast dan nuts. And so you know. Because you know how like when you're younger and you're like oh like i don't know at least my friends like we used to like talk with each other and we would like fuck with each other about doing gay shit like like hit each other's ass just within this kid did it was it was like oh like one was straight with it. Not doing a dig. But and now you know how to do it right. It was awkward. Yeah it was coming from somewhere. A comedies perspective's very aggressive. It was like i'd want it was. But you're actually like you know you're making you're making noises. You're getting tense. You're getting goosebumps on your arms like we're freaked out. Stay in you know he was. He was so scared talking about okay all right now. Last time we have a bunch mike problems. Oh yes we hit these real fast. Yeah my problems never never heard of that. Yeah my friend. Alexey had this Living room and i pretty much was just this big like i think it was it. Wasn't it's just this big couch and there was nothing in the living room but the couch. We would just like go in there and sit. There is be another great nothing to do man and a lot of time just like talking about like we're gonna do it the day and this is crazy all right so let me straight so you guys went and sat down in a room with nothing but an l. couch. And then you would ponder the future of the day even though you had nothing plan yet we are making strides here in june five nine. The when you walk. It's about. I'm about to say literally turns sure. Can each one of us was the raillard in the rayleigh. Would it pretty much have like a time limit which was just until we all quit and there is pretty much like we'd all be on the outcome standing up there and they were just running us and try and tackle us and rails and you like you and only you know it'd be like a bunch of a bunch of i had my friend they'd be like bob probably and then the rally we'll just go and they just try to sleep the shoulder into somebody hurt each other but we will go so hard was it. Did it ever go too far. You go too far. So basically there's like. There's like me and my allergies house was we would take it too far and everyone else was kinda chill about it. We would take it too fast. Man i can imagine alex who doering. Okay hunter during brother. Oh fuck okay. I do know who it is and general here and alex. Alex was a crazy crazy. They used to most shirts in the fuck in Sasquatch bro is. It was the guy's name. Oh yeah the guy that will come over yeah. He like worked for alex's dead damn thing it was a professional disc golfer or maybe he just wanted the discount place in like professional discover. How do you know. I just remembered. Always like a lie not having kind of profession to this call. I just come over here all the time to whip up shirts burgers this guy remember. He'll he looked kind of like a sasquatch. For this white little dicky. Oh okay little dicky. Yeah and he posted in the garage and like you know he'd be there all day and just be like messing around and like alex would go up to him in lake. He'd try and like make look like he'll tell a cool story. Say this to sasquatch. Because it was alex's like hero and he wanted to show up on. Yeah this was this koffler you would always love talking about oh cool sasquatch was and then when we actually go over the time he show off and we go up to him and every time you could tell that he just didn't he didn't care digitally. These kids are here again. Like faulk this is the war started. Just like just gonna make up some bullshit bugging him and dan nuts man. Poor alex bedroom models charges. "Safety is such a huge thing at safely completing a project is going to be more important than being like. Yeah I got this and like you know bulldozing your way through project absolute ray rice like take a step back. Take everything slow. Take those as learning experiences. The more you become comfortable the more you're gonNA realize okay now. I'm ready to tackle this thing because uncomfortable and I've done. I've done the steps leading up to this so many different times right and then like yeah with some of those more complicated cuts there's so many little nuances that like. I've had that feeling and then I step away. I go online and look at what other people are doing. And maybe it's like okay. You really need to put a clamp here so that like this insecure because this pieces too small and you don't want your fingers like whatever it is but there's resources that can help you get comfortable but yeah you should never use a power tool if you're not comfortable because that's literally how you get hurt. Ray is by be overly confident. Yeah yeah the first time as a table saw was the scariest de my life like I'm just going to be real yup. There's still days what I'm supposed to be doing like a table saw cut in do one and I'm like Oh that felt really not safe and I'm going to just turn this offer today and we're gonNA come back later batch exactly the way to do it and like that's exactly it is like sometimes you just get this gut instinct of like no this. Does this something about this feels wrong. So I'm going to walk away from it and then figure out an alternative and usually usually. There's an alternative. If if a table saw feels scary get comfortable using the circular saw an want. You're comfortable using the circular saw. Maybe revisit that table saw You know for me immediately so like I was really nervous using Granted like I had not a good table. "That we are going to endorse the fact that we're going to continue to do podcasts. Throughout his has right. We're not going to liberal candidate. We're going to endorse. We're going to endorse the ideals. This podcast Dan nuts right and so what you just heard folks is a little bit of what the Culinary Union did. They made a big announcement. We're GONNA have a news conference. We're GONNA talk about an endorsement. And of course this is like knepper. Reporters a bunch of reporters showed up for essentially what was a culinary infomercial and The announcement from the president of the of the Culinary Union. I'm sorry the Secretary Treasurer of the culinary who said We are not going to endorse a political but we are going to endorse our goals and In our goals include the goals include keeping the health care. And I think what the real endorsement of the culinary correct me if if if you think. I'm wrong on this Roy but I think the real endorsing came in that flyer that was put out where candidates were rated on a number of issues in the one of the issues being healthcare and Biden it said protect culinary healthcare star protect culinary healthcare closure protect culinary healthcare. And you drop down to Bernie Sanders and it says and healthcare now if that's not a non endorsement of Bernie Sanders. I don't know what he is. I totally understand why the culinary wants to keep its healthcare. It's great healthcare. I totally understand. Bernie's message to the culinary Whereas you told me earlier today he got heckled when he said this. But you know Bernie Sanders says look yes. I would get read a private plans like the healthcare like you guys negotiated for all these years. You've given up salary increases in some cases to get health care but you won't have to pay copays deductibles annual limits co-insurance. Whatever fees at the insurance industry? Thinks up to get you to give more money to the insurance industry? You won't have to pay all that you have to pay higher taxes but it all out in the wash is what he has said the culinary do not buy that and I think I think that Flyer was essentially not an endorsement of Biden or anyone else but certainly a non endorsement of Sanders and a sort of a mini non endorsement of of Elizabeth Warren. Who also believes in Medicare for all but at a at a phasing it in over a period of time so i. That's that's what I took from that fly and that's I took from their message On Thursday yeah I think so too and and the thing about the The the Flyer of Sanders to is that like it very much is saying end. Culinary healthcare whereas unwarranted section. It's like three minutes. Three year grace period to phase into which sanders is also having a grace period. But that's neither here nor there I think one of the things that Sanders said. That was a little bit tough to buy. And he said it before and Biden has called him out on the debate stage about it and it was very interesting moment when it happened. I remember it very clearly but he had said that with healthcare off the table. Next time you go to bargain. You're not going to have to worry about you. Know no lack of wages or anything like that in exchange for good healthcare. That's going to be off the table and you know employer you. You're going to save money under my plan. That's going to lead to better wages and a lot of the folks are England. Arear saying yeah. No our employers aren't going to find it in the goodness of their heart exactly to give us a raise. If they save any money we know where that and one Culinary Union member told me a semi story for months ago. He he flat out said you know. We know where that money's GonNa go as Culinary Union. We know where that money is going and Biden on the debate stage. I think is his knock on. It was well for a socialist. You sure will believe in corporate America a lot more than idea. Well I I. It is a faith based prospect. Because if you look at one of the largest companies in gaming in in Nevada not to pick on them but you know they've gone through some hard times this mgm resorts MGM. Resorts is selling off properties. They're engaging in in real estate trade deals where they keep their casino lease it back and all sorts of other things to raise cash because they have had some hard times and they're trying to consolidate the trying to get into the Japanese gaming market and I if you look at corporations in general you get extra cash. What are they generally do with buy back? Stock is what they generally do with it. They don't put it into workers wages that that is A. That's kind of fate based concept and and I kind of a little surprise that That Bernie is Is Advocating that? Because let's be honest. The the guy's been consistent though and this is one thing we gotta remember Bernie. Sanders had the same healthcare plan in two thousand sixteen as he has now. He hasn't changed a bid on it. the culinary was probably similarly unimpressed with him in two thousand sixteen their members were for Hillary Clinton they fought over the Strip caucus sites in fact because the culinary union members were caucusing there and that was thought to be an advantage for for one side over the other but but he almost won the state he wants. The was fifty two to forty seven in in a fifty three or forty seven. I guess in In Two thousand sixteen and his position hasn't changed so unless the culinary had done things differently and instead of doing his Koi Bayton switch thing that they did on Thursday and actually come out and said we are for Joe Biden because he's for our healthcare and we are not only going to endorse him. We're going to put the machine to work. We're going to knock on the doors. We'RE GOING TO TURN OUT OUR MEMBERS. We're going to do the full court press. I have seen the culinary full court press changed the course and scope of elections here and win races. It couldn't be one otherwise I've seen the Connor Gideon almost in time but not quite and lose elections by heartbreaking margin. So if they really wanted to do it they could probably make a difference in in a statewide race On that issue but they chose not to do that. Because I think very subtly There were some political issues surrounding it and that Flyer says everything needed to say and long before they held a news conference at Fliers had everything they needed to say about the insurance. So there you go yeah. I was not surprised at all I was there with. I mean easily fifty other reporters at the announcement and I wasn't surprised at all because I think it's. It's a couple of things you know. I think a lot of folks might think it's a it's a vote of no confidence in Biden. They're concerned about that. A could be I I out the many lost any. And he loses the caucus on February twenty-second. I would have been a blow to the credibility of the corner but I also think that looking at sanders. It's hard to sort of you know. Be Certain that he's not going to win. The state this time just because he has the rare sort of combination of having some of the momentum that a Cobra Charleena and a Buddha gesture coming here with as well as you know the organizing power that you know A warrant and himself and Biden have had here for months and months and months narrow as well as a little bit of history in the polls he has been on top and some polls mostly been biden. But it's been neck and neck between them and a Lotta Times Warren as well who's fallen off recently so is never been on the ballot by himself in Nevada in a caucus He's won the state twice as vice president to Barack Obama by twelve points in twenty eight. Oh eight and by six points in two thousand twelve but he's never been on him by himself Bernie. Sanders has been on the ballot by himself very recently. A matter of fact in in two thousand sixteen and he almost one st he split stay with Hillary Clinton and I sat with him very early on in the stage and he made no bones about it. He's we're here to win this thing. He's like this is one of the states that we're going to take back and you know he's put a lot of his considerable resources behind it. I mean they put out something right after New Hampshire singing of two hundred staff members and more than a thousand volunteers. They're going to have enough volunteers to put somebody every caucus seventeen hundred caucuses and they're gonNA have enough volunteers. They say to put somebody in every one of them and those volunteers have have really unique roles in a caucus system in which part of the reason. They're there is to organize the support. That's there part is to recruit the support of the campaigns who don't reach viability. There's a there's a persuasion phase there too and and another part and one that campaign say is probably the most important given the uncertainty from Iowa is to make sure that they everything's counted correctly in their candidate is not for lack of a better term screwed on caucus day and and in Iowa. I've heard from Buddha judges and Sanders campaign that these people were very instrumental in causing in finding all sorts of problems rounding or issues or whatever little delegate here few county delegates there and they've been so close these first two contests no clear favorite coming out of this I think Buddha judge is actually in the delegate lead despite you know Sanders winning in in in very slightly and so I I'll delegate if you have somebody if you have a team of volunteers to get you a delegate that is going to be huge so it's going to be wild to see Obviously we will be here. "We're getting there. Yeah Yeah Man. I've been to my house which sucks even more. Yeah I've been stealing Jeremy's truck every day to drive to work with all the stupid snow. Yeah we got what nine inches you know this this. This was the first time they've been wrong this way before. Normally it's like Oh my God we're GonNa get feet of snow and we get like a dusting no this and they're like really it like three or four and we got like eight to ten. Dan Nuts it was. It was a decent amount for our first Michigan snowfall. went out at five thirty record. Yeah we did break records joy. Yeah I went out at five thirty in the evening and we already had six inches of snow and it was still falling. Oh Yeah Yeah I would guess. We got a couple more inches before the night was over shoveled three times. Yeah I'M A. I'm a banker so I had the day off because it was veterans day which I gotTa love so I did a little writing in the morning and then I just like stay down. I'm sitting y'all are looking at here. I mean Disney pluses up and running so well. That's where I was going with that. so I thought very mature Dave back in episode nine. We had the conversation of Disney as it is Walt Disney evil or and then we kinda went onto Disney kind of takes over the world like they have their hand in everything pretty much well. It's kind of funny that the first big snowstorm that Michigan against cs which is abnormal is on the same day that the entire mid West Michigan the entire Midwest is the day that Disney plus launches says so we can all say and so now. I'm kind of thinking. Do they have like a weather machine to to make their last thing is is that Disney is God like yeah they're going to run the world. I feel evil cheeseburger machine right. I just wanted to take a second to point out here.
Digital Economy: The digitisation of trade
"Long before the Internet international trade routes the primary channel for the global spread of information. They've long since been overtaken by international telecommunications networks that today allow packets of data to span the globe in seconds this has helped open up global markets for goods and services to the extent that individual consumers can now purchase goods from the other side of the planet it at the Click of a button. This episode of the podcast examined the impact of digitization on trade in particular. We explore how digital technology is affecting the way goods shipped around around the world. The physical process underpins the global digital economy. We also examined the impact of e commerce on global trade and the role of digitization in the growth of trade services this month. I'm joined by Martin Home Global Head of supply chain management in ECOMMERCE logistics shipping giant Merck by Jenna Brown CEO and CO founder under a supply chain data management start up ship Max by my colleague Christopher Clegg managing editor at global editorial lead for trade and globalization. I started by asking marted. What is what is the current state of digitisation in the shipping industry. I think it's fair to say that the state of digitalization the shipping industries is really is still quite low. It's not on common that the cost of processing the paperwork is higher than the cost of actually moving goods across the world at least that's that's the that's the situation the container shipping space just to give an example in connection with US designing the the trade lanes platform color years ago we gathered all data such documents emails phone calls milestone data etcetera for for a number of shipments and and one of these shipments search was quite typical shipman contain of Avocados from Kenya to the Netherlands required more than two hundred physical documents so so quite a lot of of work on that site having said this. It's also clear that did slice Asian is now taking pace there's very high amount of venture capital missile coming in similize ahead of digitalization of for instance the travel industry and other industries and there's also a lot of initiatives by the incumbents real real time rates now available instant booking confirmations thereby leading playoffs and there's a lot of work on on optimization of operations also using shing a digital tool so it's warhead if it's not been as fast as you might have expected. Why why do you think that is I think it's a learning curve and this industry is has a lot of Sullivan heavy investments traditionally in in and ships and containers and pulse and trucks and so on and and the whole digital side has just not been coming along fast enough AH Essex on Baloney this year I an association was established for actually agreeing on a data standards in the industry and it's also stuff like that that that's been missing that even if you invest you don't know what the standards are going to be. Everybody's waiting for Jolo discussing the standards and and and we haven't been moving ahead as fast as yes we probably could have four or would have expected okay so so jenny. You have a slightly different voltage point. Is that as a starting startup helping shipping companies with their documents. How would you characterize the state digitization. Would you reflect Martin's comments to you the different view yeah. I think in part I think he can break it down a bit more say. I guess we're looking at the kind of communication aspect. I think there's a lot of progress been made in Let's say transactional elements logistics so for example if he want to book a container with a major shipping line there are companies like intra and all at the other end of the spectrum if go and customers the king containers with folders so flexible twelve colnago. DB Schenker Ohio I've invested law in platforms to make that smoother but do you agree with Maltese. Not the biggest pau kind of up for grabs right now which arguably is the highest volume is those operational communications so everything involved in getting something from eight to be and this is where anecdotally when we speak to customers US freight forwarders Mesa them have tried something like using an old edi technology but it's not worked very well because there are no data each stop us so what tends to happen is it tends to end up being a very manual process with emails flying around with with documents attached and I I think that's where Phil's still a little bit stuck in the past right and Jenner your your company in fact shipper Baxter's helped companies with extracting data from from the shipping documents so so so what was the opportunity that you saw what was told you that a new way was possible and how open and receptive have you found organizations to an alternative approach. 'em Yes I mean we actually started out in in the bulk shipping sector we had developed a technology technology stocks and data and structured as from from email communications and we had kind of turned to the A freight forwarding and industry as an additional market and yeah I think we found it's been incredibly receptive because again most of the problems people have is just kind of locked of data standards on there is no way of transmitting information mation from from player wound to play a twenty five so if you can build a technology talk of the infrastructure that already exists an then and just kind of plug and play and feedback into internal systems. What's very well. Why did you think because you both mentioned the issue with standard. Why do you think there haven't been standards in so many other domains. Obviously this is a challenge for all industries to find ways to share information in standard ways but progresses be made so the reason this sector has been so far failed to establish standards. Is it for lack of effort or or too many effort. I honestly don't think it's possible because I think you look at any industry. Where the already strong data standards it is. It is a more transactional well transaction when you're looking at operational logistics. It's a messy process and you've got an industry that is wildly fragmented so you want to take an extremely messy process of wildly fragmented industry industry. We've together by humans and put into one standard. It's it. That's a very daunting task so Martin is possibly the best known shipping company in the world. What impact has digitization had on the company and how have you adapted acted as a result I think at merced purposes we all purpose as facilitating global trade believing that that trading with these other really really generates additional value and prosperity and opportunity fold so of course seeing that actually processing older the the documents and the paperwork work is is more expensive now than shipping the cargo around the world. is something that we feel. we do something about and we actually feel that there's a huge shut which unity for false company so over the last few years we really been been ramping up to take a leading role in this sure and and also to try and get as many of the other players in the in the industry to come along exactly where the data's. Dan Nuts and maybe just back to that point. I think one of the reasons is that there's a truly global industry and every transaction has lots of parties across multiple sectors and multiple countries and that's where it gets really messy and difficult to agree on on the standards and but as I said I think it's a huge opportunity. I think you can look at it. Maybe in two tracts there's one which is the the product innovation and customer experience side a cobbler the things we've done there is the the the trade lynch plaque platform that really uses blockchain to significantly -nificant improve the the information flow and reduce the cost among the many players and of course increased the the validity of the documents when Sunday information that is shared and all the examples is captioned peed on an APP. We have launched to our customers shipping refrigerated cargo actually they can sit at home home and follow the the data the timber chore the Humidity And so on of of airflow inside the container and then they can change the settings they they can change the temperature or they can change the flow more nitrogen. All you know whatever they would like to see inside the container they can change that on the APP and and actually a moments later through I o t that's those settings are changed on the container even the middle of the ocean so so those are Cobb love love of USA stories of course the other tracks and the operational efficiency that we also talked about before and maybe a couple of examples there we're using weather data data now to optimize the routing of all our ships we already more than seven hundred ships. and we always have ships that a little bit ahead of each other behind each other. We're using data from our own ships and also buying whether data from those two then optimized the routing of the ships that following and therefore of course reducing using the the fuel that we use and an increased the likelihood that we arrive on time and time at the next port and more simple example blitzer is a small law APP that we call pitched up which is really to coordinate the porch space and all the activities that need to happen within that Porch Day so so these are some of the examples that that are already in motion but but there's a huge opportunity we are not very fond this journey and there's lots and lots of of of additional opportunities both on the product innovation and costumer experience. I had an on the operational efficiency side and in order to to introduce these these kinds of digital innovations what what organizational changes have you had to undergo did musk. Let's say five ten years ago half the digital capabilities to develop these and it was just a matter of getting through the work or if you had to change the at least to some degree the nature of the company and who you hire and how you operate yeah we've definitely had to mate Changes Pete so want the laws that that we had to start hiring data scientists and digital capabilities that we simply didn't happen and truth be told the beginning was difficult to attract people with these skill sets into a relatively the seen as a conservative and rosty industry and now that we have attracted a number of them into Murska they actually find this incredibly exciting the whole opportunity of digitalising trade and and and really helping to to grow the global economy on is very exciting and actually the digital. It'll challenges and opportunities are also very big. Huge data sets lots of opportunity we have as laid us in all our latest quarterly announcements. The stock market again reiterated that we are still hiring additional. It people and specifically data scientists NPR NPR's with with digital capabilities and an older. We're looking for several thousand additional. It people to really help us on this journey going forward.

And then you just check in online until the online system tells you you gotta go in. Well, they told me I can check. I can do my online course. And then I don't have to show up at some point five I can show at nine thirty right? And so I I go the night before to do the course. And it says you gotta do it a week in advance. They never told me that still wouldn't have done it. But they didn't tell me that. But I I'm tempting to just rip up that summons jury summons and and gamble. Don't know. Don't gamble that. They're not gonna knock on my door. But see the problem is that when you drive around, and you know, you do a California stop some cop gets you. You're gonna you're a big fish? After you make an example out of ya. They're not I've done a enough for the boys. I think I could give me a look the other way once once in a while, maybe not maybe not that's possible. I was working over the FM talk station and a couple of friends of mine detective Rudy Alvarez LAPD. And detective I think it was a captain by then Andy Harare. But our buddy Malibu, Dan said to detective Rudy. Hey, if I'm if I get busted for we'd will I be will you look the other way, and he had a great line. He said you don't become a detective with LAPD by looking the other way. And he says will I be treated like a celebrity in jail. And he says, no, sir. You will not be treated by. I don't think celebrities get special treatment anymore, right? Like, if you're like, let's say you're Don Knotts, right? And I, you know, you get a arrested for something you think he'd be treated special or I know is not with us anymore. But I mean, or would they say, you know, he's just in with the regular crowd. I think they get treated don't they? Don nuts would Don Knotts probably will love him and the cockpit arrested. Don Knotts is probably going to hear it from the other cops. Rested. Don. Rested. Barney fife what did he do? He had worn out for his arrest. I guess he had a couple of parking tickets and you arrested him for that. Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. Barney fife. That was pretty good. I was really good. Yup. It's sort of like Seinfeld like the early side Seinfeld. Week in his voice. I bet. I'll bet Seinfeld was a big Don Knotts fan. Abedi was one of the the guys that that he will turn to that was a huge fan of Donald celebrities. Pay a little extra cash and go do their time over in El Segundo or something like that or seal beach offers to. Yeah, I think it's one hundred bucks a day or one hundred ten bucks a day, and you can go into a little private prison and serve your time there. Oh, they're actually I just looked up. Seinfeld. Don Knotts, and I think he is Don Knotts fan because on one of the Seinfeld opens for the for the show. He's doing the. Yeah. Pulling the belt up like. I see what's going on here. Don, Knotts was absolutely the best. My my dad said that everything he ever does in comedy he stole from Dan nuts. And that's true or not. But certainly out there. Yeah. But Don Knotts used to be the the nervous weatherman. Here's some old footage. I think this is from two thousand sixteen. You.
"dan nuts" Discussed on Oprah and Eckhart Tolle: A NEW EARTH
"You stuck where you are in on it. I got it. And it has a question about finding purpose. And I know it's something that's been on the minds of quite a few of our students. Hello, nick. Let's hear it. And he Oprah what's up. Hey, everything up. My question is basically you have to worry about a lot of stuff in life. You have to go to work if the pay your Bill your cell phone Bill works in the now. But if you don't work today, it's not gonna work a month from today. So how do you live in the now? And so worried about your IRA's investing your future, what you're going to do as far as you know, money paying your bills doing what you have to do in this ego censored world, especially in Los Angeles. So. What is becoming who we were truly meant to be really isn't financially. Practical is what you're asking. Right. Yeah. What if I wanted to go on a mountain somewhere just become I was I eventually would guest star or freeze? But I mean, you know, how do you integrate this in your everyday life sort of being in the now being the essence of who you are numb without? Suffering long run without the squirrel would suffer this world die. If it didn't put away nuts for the future. So okay. Go to class, and I'll have the question of the first few words of questionable ready contained an era, and it's easy. If an era keeps into a question, then it's hard to onsite truly the air. Was you said we have to worry about paying bills and all kinds of things is that true. No, you have to pay your bills, but you don't have to worry about paying your bills and the squirrel has to put away the knots. But this is not worried about the nuts. Only humans are boring to Dan nuts. So. So you can being present with what you do does not mean that you neglect your daily fast, and so on it means you deal with them in a different. And in fact, more powerful and more effective way. You give up the warring pot. You still pay your bills? But you let go of the warring about paying your bills in that way. You'll learn from the squirrel how to live because worrying is your choice. You see that? Don't you Nick? Urine is your choice it at times when I don't worry. I've had moments in my life where I didn't wear. It's kind of let the waves the world rollover me. And I kind of did nothing about situations and hoped that they would work out themselves, and they didn't I mean, it, you know, we're worrying did help me in the past actually get things together and get my life on track. I guess to be for me in my life to be in essence to be with my spiritual south, it doesn't. It's not enough. I have to really be actively worried about the actual day-to-day business of surviving. Well know, I was people have to do, you know, I would still argue with that. This is true that you need to take action. It is not true that you need to worry in all owner to be able to take action. So you can actually experiment with in your daily life start with little situations. That's there's a pile of bills that you have to pay how. How do you pro-? These spills. Are you going to worry the night before or on the day, or am I going to be able to pay you just take on Bill after another you look at it you face it? Okay. Do I have the money in my Bank account on not? If you don't have the money in my Bank account after do something to make more money. What you suppose what can I do now? But that decide look this action. I can take pick up the phone make it phone call to the present effective powerful. But no Warri if you knew see all your whole life would become not only more effective and more powerful, but also much easier it flows with greater ease. Nothing in nature is worried all the animals Duma the have to do, but they don't worry about it. They are active. Everything is active in nature. The trees are active the grass the flowers. Everything is active and putting out energy. It's only human said Laurie about it and think they need. Worry in order to survive in this world. You don't need for you need action. But it's interesting point reminds me of the Lillian the valley doesn't worry about clothing itself in the bible. It just does just exists. It worries not whether the spare or the code is not worry how it's gonna get its. Yes, X meal. It just it just does that reminds. That's right there. Yes. But I'm thinking, I guess I'm thinking of those hippies in India that still haven't come back. Just broken, right? Well, that's really good for that bible stuff and for the lilies of the valley. But listen, and I gotta worry about I think you really represent a whole lot of people particularly young people who have said to me personally or have emailed a and think that being in alignment with who you're truly meant to be wakened into your purpose is some kind of is represents Pacific that you're just sort of sitting around just, you know, waiting on a woo moment. And not really doing anything the real purpose of this entire book. And the work of spirituality is to get you to get us to align. Our personalities with our soul or higher consciousness. So that the work that you do in the world comes from the place of the higher consciousness, and you use your ego or personality to serve that. You allow your personality to serve the calling of consciousness that has put you here on the earth in the first place. And when you do that everything has a flow to it. You're in the right job that gives you the right amount of money for you at any given time because you are in alignment, so you're not worrying about things because you're not living beyond your means. You're not stressing about things because you're not allowing your ego to determine and define who you are in the world. So you're not acting out of an external self but acting out of the place of inner space or consciousness, so everything is in alignment, and that's not passive. That's not do. I can't pay my bills. And so let me find myself later that is aligning your personality with the higher consciousness. So that your higher consciousness you operate from a place a being and the inner space is. Is directing and guiding your life and not the outer space, you get it. Yeah. I do I sort of a major matter. That's
"dan nuts" Discussed on The Dan Patrick Show
"Broadcasting from the Mercedes man cave here. He is joined by the Ford, Dan nuts. It's Dan Patrick. It's the final hour on this Tuesday. Dan in the Dench, Dan Patrick show. Spend a lot of time talking about LeBron and the Lakers the immediate future. The immediate future. Not good make gonna make the playoffs. Then what happens in the Aussies new coach new roster any other big names coming to town. If your a potential free agent looking at LeBron James and sitting out for eighteen games. Do you start to look and go man, I wonder if this is just the start of the end here with LeBron? Now, I'm not saying let's draw the curtains on his career, but just Kobe at a similar age had the achilles tear players and the LeBron is two years older body wise than his age. So he's thirty four he's really thirty six because he's played two seasons of playoff basketball and might even feel a little older than that. Because playoff basketball doesn't count as one game. Maybe one and a half games with the intensity there. But you know, LeBron coming back and now can you right? The ship and the final twenty five games of the season. Bill Plachy said, it doesn't matter. He doesn't think lukewarm even they make the playoffs. Luke, Walton not to be back as the head coach. And then who can you bring in? As the ship sailed on. Anthony Davis Plaski said he doesn't see Anthony Davis plan for the Lakers. So it's going to be an entertaining summer. We always look ahead to the next season. That's what we do in the NBA. It's okay. Well, where's Kevin Durant? We started the season with well. Where's Kevin Durant? Gonna be member. You had the blow up. Golden state. You had the Draymond green challenging Kevin Durant. Are you all in are you with us? We're then started look to well where could Kevin Durant end. Oh, Kyrie Irving may not resign with Boston. Who's gonna get Zion? Williamson. Yup. Loan, but is that mostly because the results of the season is not in question. The Golden State Warriors are gonna cruise to a title. I don't would anybody take the field would anybody? If it was even say, you had a thousand dollars on the table. Well, do I get Ajit a thousand dollars? You get the on. How many teams are the thirty two. Well, if you give me you give me like ten to one odds you mean five to one onto I'll take the field. So for thousand dollars ten to one though, I still take Golden State. I think well, but I if I'm going to try to win money. Yeah. It's a smart bet. Yeah. Because I might be betting thousand to win five hundred or three hundred. But if I'm betting thousand ten to one that somebody else could be Golden State. I take it. But I wouldn't believe that somebody's going to be able to beat them four games. But we do look ahead to next season. And I'm sure that next season. We'll look ahead to next season that season after that. But were already wondering, okay where design on? And the reason why I look ahead for you know, for a couple of reasons in Pauley points out one that's very valid. It feels like it's a foregone conclusion Golden State's going to win again. It'd be a great surprise if they didn't. But if feels like there's a foregone conclusion, we know how this ends. The question is is Kevin Durant. The finals MVP again. And then who gets who wins the lottery because I do think if the Knicks win the lottery. Now, all of a sudden, I think you get a little more attention. If you're a free agent looking at the Knicks and the possibility of bringing the Knicks back reminds me of when I did an interview with Curt Schilling, and I was asking him about why he was going to Boston. And he said if you bring a title to Boston, they'll build a statue. You're going to do something that hasn't been done..

"He is joined by the Ford, Dan nuts. It's Dan Patrick O. Happy franchise tag day. Yeah. I don't know how you'll celebrate it. According to Adam Schefter starting today until March fifth there could be at least ten players receiving some form of a franchise tag. They include you Davian clowning DeMarcus Lawrence of the Cowboys, Libyan bell, even Steven guts hausky. The patriots kicker per sources. According to shefty, welcome to the program already in progress. Your phone calls are always welcoming seven seven three DP show, Email address DP, Dan, Patrick dot com. Twitter handle at DP show. Spent a good portion of the first hour talking about LeBron James as we move forward. There were some reports yesterday that LeBron James the there's some private concerns about libra. Ron is he healthy can carry the Lakers. So we'll talk to Bill plash key the columnist. Great columnist for the LA times. He'll join us coming up in a little bit here. Mclovin poll question we're going to stay with what we had in the first hour. So I will the Lakers make the playoffs. Fifty five percent say no talking about which player is more important to get to the right team for their league, Bryce Harper. Kyla mirrors? I Williamson one other question with Mr. Plachy coming up. There was a common the LA times today that LeBron is losing his hold as a number one player in the NBA that Katy staff Jaanus. And James harden are nipping at his heels as the number one player in the NBA. Yeah. I agree. Yeah. I've no problem. I think Kevin Durant is right there with LeBron. If if if not news probably surpassed him because Katie will play defense and is improved. He'd realized if you're going to be considered the best player in the game, you know, being able to play defense instead of just being a score because Katie for so long. Was just he's just a score. But he's more than that. Any he he made it a priority to be a better defensive player and has become that. So is he a better all around player than LeBron in some facets? Yes. Could I count on Kevin Durant now more than I can the LeBron? Yes, does that make the best player? Jaanus? I wanna see what he does in the playoffs. I still can't shoot wonderful player by Steph. Curry has proven it on a big stage. That's the one I was gonna ask. How do you differentiate those to reserve so different? Yeah. Paulie, one quick point comparing LeBron James, Kevin Durant. Lebron James has played fourteen hundred games. Kevin Durant has played nine hundred fifty new. That's a third more basketball. Well, the bronze what four years older, I think that's correct? Very. Yeah. Lot more than twice the amount of play basketball. Lebron's us. I would think at some point somebody catches LeBron. And maybe that point is right now. But I don't think he's healthy. I think coming back missing eighteen games, and you got twenty five games to go. I think they're going to have. I think they make the playoffs. I don't. And I said at the beginning of the year when people thought they challenge the Golden State Warriors for the Western Conference. I thought if they won fifty games that would. A herculean task for LeBron. And he would be MVP. If you're gonna win fifty games CNC missing the playoffs in the NBA's, not easy to do know, you really got to work at that. But you have some good teams in the west. You have one great team. But you do the clippers are a good team, the clippers remind me sort of of the Brooklyn nets. They play hard every night. And that's all you have to do you?.
