It's so hard to watch these things but I think people should really watch them and seeing what's going on, yeah is especially now when you know people already in an emotional state, and but you're right. People didn't watch the stuff that you don't want to watch it, but I mean it's totally. Show was one of the things that I. kind of fence ahead of it was because was like thirty years ago. And? A particular, I'm yeah like the Berlin Wall Dan Nelson Mandela released and if apartheid. It was like it will call at the end of history in A. Great brave, new, Dawn, and here we are two years later on things nearly as bad. Quite depressing yeah I. Absolutely with young calling. Getting at the moment mega. It is. Hopefully, things will change in certain aspects could it is depressing seeing what's going on at the moment? Yeah. All right so ratings. I'll give it by that if I'm giving. Give it. I was going to actually jump into by Africa's number five is it is? It is really hard one to race because I think it's a fascinating story goes I will give it I think three and a half to five. Because I want to see more, I noticed more this guy than what was created documentary. Yeah, I'm Kinda. Right in between the two of you I i. think it's brilliant. I think everybody should watch it, but it I mean. Maybe it's a good thing that it left me wanting to find out more but I think could have been much better illness. "In studio your life planning coach an elder law attorney we've got a special guest in the studio as well Dan Nelson will talk to you in just a moment I'm excited about the seminars receive another filling up pretty quickly these are the live events for March so we've got one of the tents in Olympia the eleventh in if the qual the twelfth in federal way in accordance yeah both locations Everitt on the fourteenth and gig harbor on eighteenth your tickets are complimentary aging options dot com the next article in the award winning blog aging options dot com is the changes with the budget on the social security benefits and that includes the beneficiaries to a dozen a I think the point of this article really is to go ahead and remind people be proactive changes a coming nothing in that but present budget that has been proposed by by the president is going to impact more seniors I think we are we are okay right now does this impact is going to be felt by people who are on social security disability income by the other ones but make no mistake about it in the long run we know in twenty thirty five social security trust fund is probably going to deplete itself now or somewhere around twenty thirty five and you would be better off trying to take a look at if your social security income was then used by twenty percent because the trust fund is not there to support it he was still keep getting about seventy five to eighty percent of what your payments are how are you going to make that gap work for you now is the time to be looking at these things not at the retail end of it and saying well the the social security has been cut what do I do now the first person to actually give me some actual percentages receive I've been asking people there like I don't know something something's going to happen in the thirties yeah D. N. you said something during the break I'm so here yes stem cell he talked to me in a now Dan Nelson is the pain of management I'm going to see a specialist that's correct but yes okay so what does stem cell stem cell cell therapy how's it going what's its lighting snow it is and it's it's kind of a buzz word there's a lot of there's a lot of noise out there about stem cell you know there's people's advertising they do stem cells they have you know all kinds of places but I tell people you know really it you got to take a look at the who what when where who's doing and I've been doing Musco skeletal medicine including injections and surgeries for thirty years so I'm pretty good at doing this stuff and assessing the situation I can actually read the X. rays and MRI and know if it's appropriate and really Daryl what I do is the called a toggle a Thalia's exceeded not Thalia stem cell therapy that means it's coming out of your body which is the gold standard of research far away supports Autauga stem cell treatments and I would caution people if you're getting something at a clinic where they're trying to sell you look at it's almost like gives the selling your time Cher that kind of seminars not where you want to be when we see a patient we see you in a doctor's office it's a consultation one on one I do the radio show obviously to put my own radio show to promote my practice but I also want to do it as a public service to tell people what there is out there we we talk about ageing but ageing is also our payment is related to aging so the older you get them the higher risk of having chronic pain and a lot of my patients have been told to come to me and said you know my doctor said well you're old okay so you expect to be in pain well that's really not acceptable and today there's so much available vast majority of which is covered by regular medical insurance including Medicare stem cell therapy is not unfortunately even though I think hopefully in the future will be but it's amazing because we can turn back the clock with so many things like arthritis for knees shoulders hips so it's the bright new shiny object in the tool box but we got other things too that are very appropriate Rajiv I think there's something very simple we could do for your thumb yeah we don't need to go to the we don't need to pull the from the stem cell level quite yet for you okay just just to make that clear but this is Sam W. you you bring that issue up because again you know but bass as a patient was meeting with a lot of pain a lot of my friends are but lot of my clients are and then that's the question that we have to and this is what you get from using options to look at life in a in a more comprehensive way it's not just about getting in legal documents done I am a lawyer at the end of the day but life is more than just getting the right legal documents right does a lot more than just getting your financial documents you got to do the whole pieces all all the pieces together and then you have the right to life path will receive I'm gonna give you some props as they say on several of my friends have asked me would you please introduce me to receive because I really need some help with family stuff and they've just been so pleased so right no thank you I know attorney client privilege privilege you can't say anything about that but I just good job hi you've got seminars coming up live events all over the Puget Sound area Olympia is the qualified her way into corners every gig harbor don't put it off if your retirement to control now and go to aging options dot com get your complimentary tickets.

"To Raynaud fast dot com for information and tickets you self directed Dan Nelson yeah yeah see can I have a I have a technical personal the worst within a mile Senate and so we work together a little bit but by the time I come to him it's pretty much put together and I but I get feedback at that point when you right when you you have written short stories and nonfiction and and wonderful novels and it did you do did you collaborate with an editor I know that a publisher traditionally you know would give you in the old days would say this man hears Max right work and media are you know hi how does it work these days for you yeah I was really depends on on that sort of thing in the early days of that I have a couple readers now a couple friends who are good readers and and really effective at helping me figure out those things that are that are missing I really have gotten pretty good at figuring out what's missing yeah and and what's working what's not working the shorter form though is it's just a lot easier for me in the longer form I mean just novels still are bear to me and I can't I can't I was interested in talking these other guys were gonna talk to today too because that's just I just don't quite understand well good that's how you get co hosts and ask some questions sign no I that is great I grew up in a house without books over there I know in bridge part yeah with no books yeah there's no basis is right and I could it was it was like I can't I don't know what the structure of the novel all that much and for some reason what you've taught yet you've talked for most of your adult life right how is that helped okay I want to talk to do our next guest is again a novelist named Jamie amber who spent most of his grace a teacher to when I am interested in how that affects the life of a writer so do you read this Dan Nelson do you read your show in front of your wife Michelle now she will see it for the first time the night of the show and she is in it are quite a bit well better it's like honey come home honey come home with a lot of it is the story of three women their sector my life my mom Michelle my wife and my great grandmother who came from Ireland here and became a baseball fan it does sound doesn't sound good yeah bill yeah some really good you get nervous before you go on now I you know G. when January first came in I realized as performance twenty six and started to get sick and I have every morning I wake up and I think why did I do this why yeah are you in costume no I I mean is there anyway to delete or not aware or suit is there's new do yeah I don't think I've ever seen in a long time it needs we are worth less than your picture he any is our set note sister black boxes you know for special for the festival makes sense all I I it's it's I I don't know I forgot this is that there is a screen this aside me full time that so that there are pictures that go along they tell the kind of when I flash back in time you can see a deserted first memory mother there's picture yeah neat and your work in the your work and of file stuff milestones yeah now you have to do a lot to actually I want to think that your family is able to rise above your sort of training for it or and your back on them but it will still and we'll fill the house with their bodies and he has so I don't have any family here that they are in the Midwest but there in Indiana may have cars right Kansas and misery so I I don't think that they're gonna make to hear about me a loving the cubs yeah you why for performances I mean usually run a fast I mean you have to have been around for a while to get that kind of boron so Rick just to be clear my last show I will only find out for one performance and this is the one that they gave you to do right thanks and then they asked me to do twelve afterwards and but I didn't I only did the one did they really yeah that's great and then this year date you know I had a lot I had offered other opportunities but I just ultimately I just want to do the show and then move on to the next day yeah it's it's hard to explain because when I was younger this would have been a dream yeah yeah yeah will give five the two men collaborated on a number of creative ventures will he be flying in to see this from Hollywood he will not but your tape it Hey yeah I'll take that for him okay and do you know a you know that Jeff is the best story teller and he's great he is gray and a lot of what I do I got from what I heard from him yeah for sure Dan best of luck with this thing it sounds great and love to your wife your long suffering or suffering during the World Series wife Michelle go to right no fast dot com to get tickets at Sunday January twenty six Sunday February to February nine and February sixteenth prop theater thanks for staying with me you're welcome yeah this change really Instagram Ollie grill Billy on my belly let me ask you with the the the re issue of how to hold a woman which was a novel that was very well received and I was thrilled to see it's coming out again in a in a and title it's a real Tom reminiscent of Nelson all right and also is never come morning morning will come in the the cover of this thing is beautiful right it's really beautiful and it's published by the injury Brennan at tortoise books away and I'm not you know not month after a month ago says side that way and I say had in him I think what he's doing is he's a very selective go up pusher yeah how did how did that happen will who said maybe right first debuted at your novel how did it happen you know I had I was with another publisher before and I I just didn't get I just wasn't happy with that I felt like it was a it was the zinc press I think and it's it was picked up and flew that might other voice thousand nine two thousand nine and I just I just I wasn't getting I wasn't getting statements and that kind of thing and I just felt I just felt this is my best book at that time I felt like I feel like my books show my development as a writer and I was just really happy with the stories in this one I just felt like it didn't get into enough hands and I got out of the contract and then my girlfriend Amy dancer who use that she's done a lot of panels and stuff at the printers Rochechouart said he was a real force in the Chicago yeah yeah very energetic force on the Chicago literary Cynthia and she knows Jerry Brown and I knew him better than I did and I said what you just give it to Jerry I mean see what see what he thinks about it and within a month he said he'd take it I was just take that route yeah that's great that's great because it is you didn't seem to I mean I remember reading the first one as ands whatever it was called because now it's not old learning may come yeah yeah woman I can tell you how cool it would you think this covered now is a great cover also I like how a few pages it looks like the book absolutely perfect it looks to be a one man show yeah John this is age there's a beautiful forward via the aforementioned Jennifer and jealous yeah in which he says among many things where is it among many is yeah she run she says this someone you both to comment on this she says raiders can be a prickly species perhaps due to the constantly dueling forces of demoralizing rejection from a publishing industry that is itself imperiled versus the almost unfathomable ego it requires to believe that a writer has something urgent and crucial to say that somehow justifies the seemingly masochistic pursuit of number right that's a wonderful from death sentences of true yeah I think so I also think that you know when you're writing your you're constantly telling yourself that what you rate is trash and so make use of when you're in that process embittered and anyone that kind of hits that circle feels that but you're that's how you get to make it better is by challenging yourself all the time yeah yeah absolutely would you think I feel like the the choice for me and there I I I I can recall a couple of instances in my life where I felt like I just nail this I just said exactly the thing that I wanted to say and that has driven me through this whole process that is really the great joy of it it's also like you Dan I suspect this it's about having an audience to I love I love that you just can't see the cheap delivery on a vote of you've done a lot of performing I think in many ways our mutual friend and guide Meyer beyond words mark Smith right and his poetry slam at the green mill that that was one of the things that really helped inspire you getting up and reading your own worth as intimidating as can be right how did that and actually he was actually we had a reading last night the tiger room salon with since July chin she's dream sins of great and mark was there my he said he's had incredible influence on me but it was it it was that stage I want number of times before I did anything in that stage was there every Sunday night and it it got me to write and at the time people are smoking and drinking and bars and Shelton and and not really ready for listening to poetry at the green mill and so if you wanted people to listen you had to shut the place down you had to do something that we're in this you know the thing is in both you in this increasingly ICC world in which we live for you know you read the responses you get to life for based on tweets and nine other things to have an audience of human beings respond in any year fashion I think is impala I love that is this really and you can't see it I love when I when I hear from people specially complete strangers who say I think you've nailed this I had a brother who died and no one no one has nailed that kind of grief the way that you have in a a blind woman I got an email from once you said you you have to get this on audio tape these stories that are just great to hear but it's really nice when you're on stage and you see that this thing just landed on a bunch of people you know yeah none of them are family members all the better you have to eliminate your family before you can be a surprise for stage actor we're gonna take a little break we're going to get Jane Hamburg on the phone and then if you want to stay and then I mean I just I find this really interesting and creative people talk about this he's a levels to came to it rather late after a career in teaching and he's good he's good so we'll take a break and the great producer worldcom will get jam burger on the phone and tell him he's going to join a conversation real ID is a new optional form of identification for people who travel domestically no you won't need a real ID to drive a car or.

two people that I really should have latched on to that and we're just not a lot of poor choices really looking to fill a void that I for some reason I couldn't seem to fill and then when I came the salvation army I met people who the later in the day it's really kind of to try to stop doing this year with people who love you so clearly that they could Love Me you have my math and show you that made me feel safe and welcome and now I get to do that that's my son mica and I'm so proud of him he's such a good kid and he's trying so hard and I love him so much so in his spirit maybe you'll make "Motion and we were actually we were really freight and we instinctively just weeks instinctively ran back in the direction that we came as soon as we heard it come back because the first time it came around if you like it was a really really strong presence and of course it could have been an animal could have been a some kind of a large you know I don't know like a like a an Intel core a moose or something but it it didn't sound that way and we do this so freaked out and we just took off back down the trail and so that was my I guess brush with with with the you know and you know an encounter perhaps on and I get I mean I at the time I like to think that it was and I actually sought out the local you know Sasquatch investigator Dan Nelson like a few days after that and and talk to him and found out all about the report and that's what really it was that incident in Nelson that really brought the interest back to me into adulthood after having been you know so into it as a as a you know child in as it let's see a young team what's interesting about your book in the valleys of the dole will be on I'm going to ask about the title in the second it's not just about Sasquatch it's about other issues to right exactly well so the book is set in a place called the great bear rainforest which is on the central in the north coast of British Columbia it's part of the Pacific Northwest that's that's about it it's an area the size of Ireland is is located about you know starting about four hundred kilometers a three in Columbus north Vancouver between roughly the north to the Vancouver Island and the Alaskan panhandle and at the place of small community is very cute in fact very small communities of indigenous towns and lots of resource extraction going on there and you know beast British Columbia and Canada are very much sort of industry the provinces and and the province in the country both very industry dependent social in addition to in addition to it the story being about my travels of they're going from you know town to town hearing reports and talking to the locals there is also this backdrop of pipeline politics you know like there are there are white lines that have been and continue to be slated for that section of the north coast and the residents are opposed to it and you know they're also stuff related to the grisly haunted so there's a lot of environmental issues and the history about the attempts to protect the area that the whole idea the whole title great bear rainforest is is is from a name that came up in an attempt to you know protect here and there have been no agreements signed back in two thousand and three and also in later twenty sixteen that have bought partial protection the I. because it is this really really beautiful pristine it's the largest you know intact coastal temperate temperate rainforest in the entire world I mean it's it's it's beyond even description just how how ideal like in beautiful and it's a place for the ocean meets mountains and meets forest and it's it's you've got you've got alcohol high alpine you've got glaciers sand minutes it's I mean the only places maybe in the US or anywhere in the world compare tutors may be part of the Olympic peninsula in Washington state and props like the Tongass National Forest in Alaska it's it's it's an amazing place also that was its appeal to me that I could go there do Sasquatch related book a travel log travel memoir but then you've got all of these other you know fascinating layers if you could weave into the store and then she knows it's not then just Sasquatch book right exactly now tell me about the title in the valleys of the noble beyond that's a great title but tell me about it okay so yeah essentially it's it's it's essentially it's a title for for the place I mean it's it's basically like the name that I have given to the great bear rainforest it is the name that I've given to you know the the abode of the Sasquatch but in the story I I need you know not to give the whole you know not to give the the scene away but I need a local at a certain point in the story who you know who who takes me to task on you know this this quest of mine to you know figure out whether the Sasquatch exists or doesn't exist Hey man you know like you know what about that and you know you're in the noble beyond this is a place of magic and mystery and and and and serendipity and you know no conflicts like in this magical place essentially and so at and I'm like you know will be on and he's like yeah man the noble beyond it you can get a lot of these characters and and in these remote places and so I ended up using that as a as the title because it was at that point in the narrative when he you know kind of took me to task about this obsession to kind of this almost dualistic obsession to Dino exists doesn't exist I have to find out if it was after that worked were were you know I decide to steer the investigation into the south watch in a different direction in it into a more philosophical and you know journey to to to discover what it you know what the Sasquatch tells us about ourselves and and and and what is it you know why do we seek out the Sasquatch in in and so yeah about that essentially became that became the title of the book pretty much you're pretty well convinced that Sasquatch is the real thing aren't you well no I I you know I I guess you don't get this a lot on your show but I'm quite I actually don't I don't know if the Sasquatch exists or not I mean and I think that the bout with that is the premise of of of of the book people seen John one hundred of the journey in a sense of that I I I I wanted to find out once and for all because you know if the creatures do exist and because you know after that experience in Nelson back in you know and you know ninety eight I I kept bumping into meeting people are you know meeting acquaintances or friends or friends of friends who had these stories and and and it did and you know going back to one of your earlier questions it did you know this interest kept building later into adulthood and wouldn't leave me alone and it culminated in a in a trip to the area hold on for a second let's come back to them talk more about this and next hour we'll take some calls on big fish Houston Saunders the new version of the coast to coast AM app is.
