"God, I remember we get what your wysiwyg editor you remember in the first laser writers came out from Apple. I think they were thousands of dollars are very expensive. Those font cartridges, as for the money was. Those were really. So I remember a friend of mine, Tom Santos, who owned at the time of Macintosh Apple store. It wasn't a Mac that store in the San Francisco Mac Adam. I guess it was a backstory, Mac Adam, had a van with a laser writer and went driving around and do portable desktop publishing. He would come to you and you say, I want my newsletter to have three fonts. He could do it all. What was the speed on Apple talk? The apple. Very slow. I think the thing that's interesting is that Apple was doing something that wasn't in the mainstream of computing at the time. And so as a result, a lot of the things Apple were doing, it wasn't so much like this is the future. It was like, this is like the amiga. This is over in a corner. Somewhere. Because the PC came out, that was mainstream computing. But I think over time, Apple has kind of shifted the overton window. Well, I mean, yeah, I mean, usually influential, obviously, you look at Windows 95 and the hard to say that the queues were not taken from the magic. These things always inform each other, right? Like they go back and forth. Everybody sort of learns from what everybody else is doing, and they drive the state. Today, I mean, if you look at the stuff today, despite, you know, I'm a Mac user and a Mac user for 35 years. I've used Windows. I've supported Windows in my previous career as an IT guy. When you get down to it, the details between the two are pretty small in terms of, yeah, I can go use a Windows computer. I'm not going to have a problem with it. These days, the delinquents are pretty universal and it's just the implementation details. I think that's absolutely. It's not a religion. It really isn't. By the way, P holder in the Discord told me that the speed of Apple talk was 230.4 kilobits, which is actually a lot faster than I thought it was. I thought it was faster. Yeah, the down in the 60 or so, but all right, you could trust P holder. He knows his stuff. He knows it. He knows his stuff. A lot of people thought that jobs stole what he saw at park. And made the Macintosh or the Lisa happen, but I think it's now understood that they licensed it, right? It was okay. They didn't steal it. But they had some good ideas. And thank goodness, because Xerox never did capitalize on the alto. But here we are 50 years later on the 50th anniversary of the machine that changed everything. Aren't you glad we don't still sit in a green screen with a blinking cursor on the command line? I don't know, it had a charm. I kind of do it sometimes. I still work in terminal. Yeah. Oh, I love Emacs. I'm the wrong guy to ask. Yeah, but we're married Joe fully writes all their articles and notepads. We're very retro people. We're very retro, you know? All right, now we'll take that break that I was promising you, no need to fear. We have more to come in just a little bit with our wonderful panel. Lou MM from this week in enterprise tech is here in studio with his VM machine. You didn't have to make a VM machine glow or anything. It could have just been a box. You got to have it glow. All right, okay. Dan Moore in science fiction author also here. And from the Vatican father, Robert balassa, digital Jesuit. What is that? This is a nabis tag, which is a company that's long gone out of business, but you're the rabbit. So the ears would move in some informational way or they would dance or so you could link your navis tag to the navis tag of a significant other in. Like when you move the ear on yours, it will appear on that one. Who's moving the ear on the other one? The other one is in Pope Francis's rooms. Okay, there we go. A little wave, a little wave hello. Just saying hi from the holy

"With. Oh yeah. And it's only a matter of time. I mean, that's the thing. If you're playing the long game, you've gotta have the depth. The short game is exactly what it is. It's very short when you have no substance, you're flighty, you're not focused. You can flush it out. Even the best people that say, oh, I write my goals down, I do this. Look at me. I'm crushing life. Man, you know, some of us get more exposure than we needed times and you just kind of go wow. There's gonna be some people that are gonna be like, wow. Didn't see that. So they also, I mean you and I have seen people just it's the story. And the story can run for, but then you go, well, why do you keep moving jobs? Why are you always in different places and versus if that really was aligned, it doesn't make sense, right? That's where as you said the a 100%, the advertisement doesn't live up to the reality. But I think there's one critical point before we wrap up that everybody takes a second and here is that you're a why to be something as simple as this. I'm going to make a comfortable living and I'm going to enjoy my life. That is 100% okay. And we're in a society where they don't make that okay. Well, you know what is kind of funny? I think we gotta take a step back and realize that it doesn't matter what you said it beautifully. People will talk behind your back so far. And you get to the point where if you're really comfortable in your own skin, you don't care. And I think that that is a huge, huge, huge piece is when you get comfortable in your own skin. And your why is as clear as it can be, nothing else matters. Right. Right. No, I think it's I was listening to and I've said it and I'm not always as good as I will, it will sound like I am, and I'm not is that my head gets a little twisted at times. But at the end of the day, I know who there's a circle of people family and very close friends that they came to me and said, I'm disappointed. That would mean something and have an impact. Or someone I don't know someone who I have, you know, even a nice relationship with. That doesn't bother me. But that goes back to you. If you're aligned and that's your goal, that goes back to what you want your pace of life to be. You know, Gary Vaynerchuk always toss says that, hey, listen, if you make 50, 60, 70, 80, whatever the number is and you want to play on two softball teams and you want to take your family out. And that's great for you. Great. Own it, but don't complain, right? If you're then going to complain about something, then say, well therein lies the challenge. You have to change, but if you're saying, nope, this is what I want, going back to the gentleman, doctor Vance, if that's the pace, I want for my life. He designed his life where he and his wife take Fridays off and that's their time their kids are in school. And so he works four days and he finds the revenue and ways to make his money in those four days, so he can do it because that's the pace of his life. And he's comfortable with it until nothing wrong with it. Nothing wrong. And he's happy. Until he says, maybe I want to change, but then that's it. Going back to what you were saying, it's intentional of now on changing versus the complaining I didn't do this. All goes back to understanding what your why is making it intentional, creating a strategy, creating a plan executing it, and then long term get there versus getting beat up in the short term based on outside influences. Well, I really love what he talked about, again, applying the is your why a lie to your business to your employees to your customers, how to tactically do that, really do appreciate Dan's comments and input and strategies and I hope you did as well. "Others where it's like, yes, I am power you, just like you were talking about. You have the same power I do. Now, if something goes sideways, and again, I have the same methodology as well as I didn't hire someone to make my job harder. Right. I hired someone to do that job and empower them to make the decisions. If something's doesn't work right or there's something that went wrong, I'm not gonna go Tara Manuel and I'm just gonna say let's have a conversation. Right. Why? First off, why imagine that? Why did you get, why did we do this? What was the goal of that decision? What were you trying to solve? And if you could do something differently, based on what occurred, what would you have done differently? Right. Because again, everybody's so, we are so buzzword cliche in the sense of a lot of business fail fast and fail often. And then you.

"We're just there to clear the runway. So we've got to be held accountable too, because again, if we're just saying, I'm so busy, what I'm doing is excusable what you're doing isn't. It doesn't work that way. Right. So pay the leader paced the pack. So if your captain I'm on my phone and half in a meeting, you can't expect your team to be in the meeting either. Well, that the poor leader would do that. All of a sudden, they'd put their phone down and say, okay, well, now you put all your phones away because now I'm ready. I'm mentally here. So snap to order when someone else is presenting and they're sitting there on their phone or I've seen it a million times is the let me go take this call and everyone goes now we're stuck here for 20 minutes. We can't move the meeting forward till Dan comes back and wears Dan and next thing, you know, we're going and everybody starts with. But the energy of the meeting just goes, oh, this is why I hate meetings. Versus ignoring that. I mean, literally, if your phone, if you left your phone in the office, and you're in another office for a meeting, you wouldn't know that the phone rang. You'd go pick it up later on and go, oh. Glen called, let me call Glenn back. I think that's where everything we've been talking about is that intentionality of being present because the people here are important to me and it could be my family. It could be my Friends. It could be it could be my employees or my boss or whoever, the fact is, when I'm here with you, it's important to me. So nothing else should matter so then act that way. Agreed. And also show some humility. I mean, I can't tell any times I've had to apologize to the team because I made the cardinal sin, right? Or hey, Dan..

"So all right, something popped into my head. It's a slight pivot. But I think this is can apply also to this idea of being present. So, great. A lot of people will say they're why is their family? Some people will say they're why is their career, right? They might say, I don't have enough. Right? So then my business is my why, or my team is my why, so put this same conversation through the lens of business, where it's so easy. If I'm sitting here saying my team is the most important thing or my business or my employees are the most important thing to me. Pivot just a little into the business side of why it could be a lie. Yeah, no, absolutely. So first I'm going to say this too, as we say into this is that your why, there isn't one why. There's a multitude of Y so don't think that, okay, well, family, it can be family and business. There can be layers. No one put rules on this. So as we segue now into the business side of it, let's have some fun. First and foremost, you want to share your team how much you matter. Keep showing up late and rescheduling meetings. You basically just sent the ultimate signal how much they matter, right? I've been guilty, show 5, ten minutes late, got tied up on another call. I mean, bottom line is if you value your people, you have to show up and you have to be present, meaning if I'm having a meeting and all of a sudden and go, oh, I got to take this call. It's dangerous, the same rules apply. People are people. Right. If you're having a one on one and you're distracted, that's why I say meetings are dangerous. And everybody watching the running company keyword have intentional meetings, meaning on a meeting about a meeting, meeting just to get people to fluffiness..

"You get a chance to watch the tennis not up yet, but when it does, but one of the things that kind of segues into that is is that to unpack your why is a simple formula of cast. So curiosity, right? We've got to be curious. We have to have action, which is being intentional. You have to take action. Nothing happens. It's kind of like little things. You know, a goal without action will forever be a dream. You have to put one foot in front of the other to make things happen. No matter what intention and action are the combination to getting things done. And then so we've got that. Then we've got S, self awareness. You've got to have the self awareness and the discipline to hold yourself accountable. It sucks. It's not fun, but when you get to that level, man things start to kind of click. And then finally, you just have to live life as the fact of, you know, you have one ticket. One ticket on this ride called life. So when the ride is up and you step off, do you really want to be full of regret? Or do you want to be full of fulfilled with all the things that you did, the time you spent with your family, the things that you did for your community, the work that you, you know, the legacy of your work and what you achieved. Whatever those things are, again, you have one ticket. And when you really frame it in, you got to one ticket on this life. It does change because there's no guarantee. Yes. And that right to the end before you think it does. So you've really got to kind of accelerate your thought process and what you do because there's no guarantee. No, I think that's I think that's I think that's one of the best excuse me, that thought of the ticket because you don't know when the rides can end..

"I mean, even today, I have teenage daughters, and we still have no devices at the table. Right. So there's things that happen on the way. There's no perfect formula. But the first step is acknowledging it and then making adjustments to better. And each day, I always say, when you get up every day, you ask yourself one thing as you're brushing your teeth in the mirror or whatever it is you do in the morning, whatever your routine is is that you look at yourself and dead in the face. You go, was I better than yesterday with a day before? Like, if you're constantly making progress, great, the days that you have a set of back and you say, man, today was yesterday was a big setback. What am I going to do different today to make up for yesterday? And when you have those conversations and you know, if you have to write it down again, some people have to get up every morning, right? Their goals down. Everybody has different ways. So what I would tell everybody watching is do what works for you. Just because everybody else is doing it doesn't mean you have to. I don't necessarily write everything down. I have a conversational with myself every morning. It helps start the day. Right. It allows me to kind of silence everything in my head and hold myself accountable. Now, I'll go into my office. I'll write a few checklist things. These are the key things I want to get accomplished. I never have more than 5, because for all of you that are in the real trenches, you know the deal. You could have two pages of everything you want to get done today, good luck, you'll get maybe one or two done. Right. I always say shoot realistic. Everything that you're doing has to be realistic. Start with the easiest wins and then have your bigger ones become more of a mid or long-term because we're humans. If you set a crazy goal that is very hard to reach and it's high up on the top of the hill, and you don't get there, or you get halfway and you hit some turbulence, you're gonna fail and go back down again..

"Yeah, so simply put using myself as an example. I mean, easy. Three amazing daughters. My wife is my family, right? But if we start being curious and asking questions, over a course of time when I was traveling 6 7 days a week when constantly airports airport, meaning the meeting, you know, device in my hand. You know, literally, my wife is talking to me and I'm just like, yeah, honey, yeah, yeah. No, good, good, good. So again, at that point in time my life I'd say my wife was a lie. So when you start understanding what it is you're doing, right? What it is you're doing what you're doing who you're doing it for, what you're doing it for. You got to kind of self inspect that. And again, the hardest thing we can ever do is get up every morning and look in that mirror and say, am I doing the things that I was supposed to be doing, right? And what is that? So that pivot of measurement. And that's where I kind of, again, is your why lie? I think we've all through our life, you know, what do you want to who do you want to be when you grow up? What do you want to be when you grow up? You know, what's your why? You know, why do you do what you do? You've been asked that so many different ways. We give a very surface level response because that's what we're trying to do. We've lost that curiosity or the second selling questions are why, then it becomes a point of defensiveness because again, wait a minute. There must be chink in the armor here because if you're automatically going defensive if someone starts to ask you a few more questions, I mean, that's an immediate red flag. But that was kind of the whole premise to it was there was a point in my life where I was like, basically, my wife was a total lie. And I had to reevaluate revamp and reset the goal to if my family is everything. And that is my why, so creating memories, you know, 'cause that's really kind of how I look at everything with their families. The goal is to create as many memories as possible because at the end of the ride, that's all we're left with. It isn't how much money you have. It isn't, it isn't the cars, the toys, the whatever, whatever. It's the memories. And those people you shared it with and the majority of those memories are your family. So that really kind of drove that for me. So then.

"Busy, day in and day out. And we think we're working towards the right goal. If I ask most people, what's most important to you, they may say, well, my family is most important to me, or maybe it's my employees or my business or my health. All of those are valid and you also can have multiple wise. Why are you doing what you're doing? But today, my guess, Dan Moore, author and TEDx speaker poses a question, is your why a lie? And he explains that while we may say our family is most important, are we really present for them when we're with them or are we distracted with phone and work and other things that are pulling our attention away? So if your why really is your family, are you actually sabotaging it and when we unpack this, you may say by why is a lie? And I need to make some adjustments. I'm really excited. This is such an impactful of such a powerful episode. I can't wait to share it with you. So let's dive into today's episode of. You're in charge, conversations that spark change with Dan Moore. Are.

"On the first one is in pass protection. The steelers offensive line did pretty good. They did pretty good. Dan moore gave up a sack that was strip sacked. That was that was. He got. Beat pretty badly on that one. He recovered nicely as always. He has long arms and he uses them well so even when he gets himself in a bad spot. Those long arms can help if you remember the plan talking about the the defensive end got ben from behind reached around and slap. The ball out does because ben rothlisberger could see dan. We're getting beat. Dan moore was able to push the guy back behind. Ben rothlisberger and ben rothlisberger was able to step up but then more wasn't able to follow through and keep any kind of control of the the defensive end after he'd gotten beat after he pushes him back. Ej he's still can't get any control of the play and the guys able to come up and stripped the ball. There was a couple more times where you're you're looking at it saying okay that's trae. Turner got beat their core had a pretty rough game but mostly they kept ben pretty clean especially the interior the interior of the pocket. Now there were sometimes blitzes up the middle. got them. okay they didn't pick up every blitz up the middle perfectly but for the most part when they're just man on man. the interior defense did pretty interior offensive. Line did pretty well keeping benz pocket. They're better than i expected. Not anywhere close to what the standard has been in the past when david decastro markey's pouncey ramon foster ormat filer. We're all healthy. When those guys are healthy and playing well it was a totally different totally different matter but these were first game. They did pretty good. Secondly i want to say about the offense of lines. Don't blame the offensive line for the run game. Run game wasn't there in week one but not much of that. Blame falls on the offensive line. The buffalo bills were packing the box. They were putting everyone up. Close to the line of scrimmage there were plays on second and eight first and ten second and you can count ten defenders within three yards. Of the line of scrimmage ten meaning they had ten way up on the line and one deep they were playing press on the on the receivers with one deep safety. You have to beat that in the passing game they are straight out telling you we're here to stuff your little short passes we're here to stuff your screen passes to stuff your run game. You're gonna have to throw over them and beat them deep. The steelers were not able to do that. The bills kept players up on the line and even when the offensive line made all their blocks. The tight ends made their blocks. You would still see someone just running free because you don't have enough people to account for them all so that is something we have to look to in the future and see how the how the run game improves. But really. it's on the passing game to make teams pay for that and that sets up for the next stage. Which is ben rothlisberger. Ben was not the best early in this game. You could tell he. I don't know if it was nerves. I don't know if it was just a little bit old old man adrenaline. I don't know what it was. But he was off target on a lot of short throats and the ones that hurt. The most in my mind were the late. Throws the nausea harris were harris slips out. He's wide open and then just throws it over his head to the point that you see now noisy. Here's with no one around him and he's jumping and reaching out just to get a single hand on the ball. I mean even if he catches that you're not getting anywhere because he spent all his effort just trying to haul in the football. If ben can get those passes on target harris can make something happen. We saw his longest gain. Preseason was off the past like that when he's in the open field..

"For the steelers this year. That's a lot more than he's ever done. You need to monitor the hits. He takes you need to monitor how much he plays so for me. Backup backup running back as a key position simply for the fact. We want nause harris to be fresh at the end of the season. We don't want him to be run down and not the same runner anymore. We don't want want him with all these nagging injuries and still trying to get it out and going to say like doing something where. He's pushing himself too hard and ended the series injury. I don't want that the backup running back situation is one that makes me nervous because we need one. That's good and can take snaps away from from nausea heiress zach. Banner is an interesting one. If you wanna get into offensive line stuff now but zach. Banner is he looked really good. The one preseason game. He played a bit in and go field for those. That are listening on the podcast platform. Day scofield throws up. it's almost like someone predicted. The steelers would put these players in the on the i. r. and bring back the ones they did. Which give davis credit. He's he's typically right around here. So dave another home run for bt. Sc surprise surprise. The steelers will not enter the season with zero backup guards. You're not gonna do it. Was it was funny too. Because when they caught him. I was just like the steelers. Currently have no backup guards on the roster. They had four tackles two guards and two centers. Yeah so so is that is that banner as a loss of but we haven't. I mean we haven't had him. It's not really. Can you label someone a loss. If they haven't been there right he's played. He's played four quarters. Total sense you know week. One started of last season and one of the course was in the free season. We'll see they'll adjust ended. It may give dan moore junior a chance to actually play when a job. Dan moore junior starting off the year. There's duffy a conversation. I wanna have. These tackles but yes that dan more getting this job. I feel like there's a chance he doesn't give give it back like as well as he's performed at left tackle if he plays good. I know the steelers thing like all your rookie. That they did it last year. Frustratingly benching kevin dotson. But is there a legitimate. Shot that dan moore junior takes left. Tackle job has at least three weeks to operate in it and keeps it for the rest of the year. What do you think there's a good chance of that. I think there is a good chance of that. I know the steelers have had some issues with kevin dotson his attitude on if it's his work ethic or like his work in the film room or something like that on the field he's dominant just lineup. Mall people Whatever they had with him he had those issues. Dan moore junior. I think he has a legit shot. Especially with as much as Tacoma core for has struggled in the preseason at left tackle Where he actually was better at right tackle which is strange So zach banner. Coming back you could see is one hundred percent. Can he retake his job back. And then it'd be you know cancun For beat out. Dan moore junior could happen. But may i'm. I'm gonna look forward to that. E everyone remembers the dwayne haskins. Big drive that he had where it was the left side of the line. Basically just bulldozing everyone and and setting up incredible holes for running backs where it was dan. Moore junior kevin johnson and then at center was. Jc asked an hour. And they those three were just killing it out there so those two kendra green man. They they could be something special. Sean manhattan puts five dollars in the tip jars is more than that left. Tackle left guard. That's that's what it's going to start the year off as like that. That's what you're going to get for at least three weeks They they've been a people mover. So i wouldn't be surprised by that. In the slightest. If it extends past as three week period like jefferson. i spoke about something you want to. I don't know that. Jeffrey honestly honesty. If dan moore can take that job if he and johnson can can be as good as they were you know obviously. They were facing backups at the time. But if they can translate that to push around starters because they just push guys around they pushed the entire like defense out of the way and jalen samuels is running through holes. You could drive a truck through for ten yards before he got touched like they were legit dominating the entire game. It was ugly. It was like alabama verses. Nobody you know. It was like that. That bad if they can get good push and do well against starters in the nfl you could. You could swing a you could swing a loss into a win with that. Kinda run blocking and nausea harris at running back. He didn't have those holes yet. The preseason you never had those two together on the line there he for most of it he had you know. Rashawn coward and tacoma. Cora for dodgy hasn't run behind those two e it could be. It could be great. I am excited for it now. There's something i also want to address the live chat here. A lot of people are trying to say zach. Banner socks he's overrated. He's this he's that like honesty zach manner. When he's been healthy has been a a great run blocker. Haven't seen enough of in truly judge him in pasro but his his swing tackle this. Of course the steelers run the ball majority of the time so we did get to see your of him as a run blocker and about fifty two snaps of it as well in his in the previous season before he tours. Acl do you think it's a fair assessment of people calling banner overrated or is that Just because he hasn't been healthy well the one game he did play he played all but one snap next to stephan was new ski. Who was absolutely terrible in that game and he played one. Snap next to kevin dots and it was a pass play. And that's the play zach. Banner got hurt on like so. They played exactly one snap together. But banner is as a run blocker. He's as good as marcus. Gilbert ever was like he just is a really good run blocker. He's especially good on inside zone. Plays working off double teams and get into the second level or he is. He is great at that. He is going to make a difference. If he's healthy and playing he will be a difference in the run game and he solid enough impasse protection He's not great but he solid. So i i would be excited. Man a line of dan moore junior. Kevin dotson kendrick green trae turner and zach. Banner would be on.

"He was pretty aggressive. I know he did get culture. That hold i believe is on nausea harris seven yard carey. I not sucks like those. Honestly something he didn't need to do and nausea was still going to turn that corner and for a veteran guard. He's gotta know better. But i really liked how aggressive. He was put guys in their backside. Which is an offensive lineman. That's that your version of a touchdown really so His his aggressiveness is something that stood out. I just think he fits his adrian. Klemm scheme really well and he. He is an opportunity to get back to that level. He was playing out back when he was a carolina panther. That's good to hear you know more about it than i do for sure. What about szucs core four. Because there's a lot of people on steelers twitter that were ready to burn the barn down on this guy and say get rid of him what he thought. Were you thoughts on cheeks. I don't know if i'm ready to go that far. But he definitely needs to play better. it's kind of one of those spots psyche. You know it's a weakness but it's not it's not really the worst spot in the world. I also think he was kind of hamstrung by who he had played beside him. Of course kevin. Dotson was playing with the twos. And when you kind of have to build that chemistry with the guy beside you. I think he was kind of left out to dry little bit. I'd like to see a core four playing next dotson Especially as president winds down. Of course now steelers are going to have basically no salary cap remaining so it's not like if you go out and shop era for a left tackle. That's any better than a core for so we're gonna get a year to see those two guys beside each other. It'll be interesting to see how far they grow. But if If for that could be the topless dealers drafts draft boorda when it comes to the twenty twenty two draft trying to find a replacement that left tackle. Well i gotta be honest. When i don't know as much about the offensive line as you're as any of the other drafting analysts stuff when when the steelers drafted dan moore junior at texas. Am the biggest knock on as a developmental guy. He's not very physically goal is he's a project you're looking at like the year three starter. He's looked pretty good to me and again. This is just from a layman's perspective. I am no expert. Dan more into dots were just steamrolling guys in the when they got up there and it was against a second-string maybe even the third shrink affiliate. I'm not sure. But what were your thoughts on. Dan moore first. And then i want to get your thoughts on on dodd's and go ahead with dan moore. Okay so dan more. This is interesting In something from the offensive line community that you hear a lot. It's when someone's coming out from the draft and they start working out with the duke johnson Kind of one of those old line academies oftentimes you'll hear from those draft guy saying now you can kind of throw that That kind of breakdown on them in the garbage after he spent offseason with this kind of guru that of gets your body right and get your mind right for playing the position Dan maura he took a. He took that route in the off season. He's training with the best of the best A lot of a former. Nfl guys are trainers at that academy and a whole bunch of nfl players are also participants in it itself. So he's he definitely took a the approach of getting better this off season and he. He's taken that step forward. It could be the starter in week. One i really doubt it. But i i think he's going to be ready a whole lot sooner than your three. Do you think that he would be someone. That is at least capable if i dunno after the bye week chiefs of core four just looks like a steaming pile of dog. Grab and you're like. Can we put dan more in there. And can he get the job done as a rookie. Would he think considering how good he has been thus far and current that it's still against the backup level players. He's still been taking a lot of ford steps. He's gotten better all off season long full year in the system. Especially if he's healthy. I think If core for struggling. I wouldn't have a problem with at least turning the keys over for a game or two to see how he can do and if he can never rise the occasion you can absolutely Ride things out with the dan moore and can bank on that upside. I'm really curious because you know dan. Moore's one of those players love to see him go against starting competition. Will you look at the way to. The steelers are playing things out. It's just not going to work for them. Meaning that week. Three for the steelers next saturday when they play the detroit lions. You're gonna have the starters out there. Ben rothlisberger is going to be out there in week. Four for the steelers is typically when they will just say. Starters aren't even gonna dress. It's were emptying the bench so to speak however for the other teams not dallas and pittsburgh. We don't know how they're gonna handle week three. What if we three for them is their dress rehearsal. And maybe dan moore if he starting. That game is going up against starting competition from the opposition. Just a thought throwing it out there. Maybe we'll see how teams are gonna handle the three game preseason. Have you heard anything. I'm from detroit side. No but i will say The detroit lions are kind of Devoid of talent. I'm so i don't know if he's going to be getting that though. Mike while i'm talking about in the following week so i who today finish up. What the key. The panthers the steelers finish up with the panthers site correct. That's still there is going to have their starters in that final week because remember. They have a whole week david to two weeks before the regular season after that. It's not a week off so i'm wondering how they're going to handle their final. Preseason game will that be their final dress rehearsal. It's going to be something to watch it. We might see the steelers backups. Go up against them much better competition. I'm excited for that but actor. Kevin dotson i wanna get your take on him. Yeah you know what i thought. He looked good. I honestly i thought the in the interior three even when passing howard. Finney were the two guys to the right of kevin. Dotson look pretty good. There are aggressive. They're pushing guys around. I i think he's going to be like a starter by week one. But it's still interesting. I know you watch mike tomlin's post-game press conference and kind of one of the things that stood out to me is one of the questions asked thomas. Hey do you think this guy's gonna get more of a a look with the ones next week and coach tomlin quickly shut that down. Said i don't know yet. I need to watch more and that was about it and moved on to the next question. We know coach. Tom can talk on and on. Even if it's about nothing he just threw that away makes you wonder if he's in the doghouse or something else. Like it really is confusing.

"Candidate might say. I'm never putting an offensive lineman unless we're in a goal line shore yard situation. You will never see an extra tackle on the field. Okay that's great. But if dan moore is gonna be quality depth there is he going to be another guy. That's gonna be inactive every week and they're gonna keep him on the roster because they wanna see what he can do. I don't know that he's going to get a lot of playing time on thursday night so keep an eye out for big in. That is his nickname. Not not dan. Mccullers big dan moore junior. You should know where. I'm going to go with this next player by now. Net is none other than dwayne haskins. I am excited to see what dwayne haskins can bring to the table. I talked about this in my recap on saturday all the sudden. It seems as if the steelers. Now dave scofield. We talked about this when he was at my house. He kinda disagreed and said remember. My tom and all he talks about is getting his team. Ready for the hall of fame game the players. That are gonna play the most. I am going to be really excited. Not just to see what dwayne haskins can do from a quarterback standpoint. But i want to see how the steelers handle the quarterback position does mason rudolph even play on thursday night and can't high or is it just masonry or is it just wayne haskins and joshua dobbs. That's a really good question that i'm excited to see. Also if they play mason rudolph. How quickly do they answered. Haskins the real telling the telling part of this. Preseason will not just be in this game. Because like i said in this game there are no starters if there are. They're very few. It's going to be in the second game. The third game in the fourth game mainly the second and third were. They insert haskins in then. Let's also not forget it. Also be a big player component of all this is. How does haskins play. Is he going to show flashes of what has been mainly reported as a very positive training cam or is he gonna show signs of how he played for washington is you're gonna have a tendency to turn the ball over. Is he a little bit more mobile kenny. Understand and run the offense all signs point to yes so far but that doesn't necessarily mean that that's exactly what's going to happen. So dwayne haskins is on my list for obvious reasons next. I go with player. That in twenty twenty was drafted and he did not have a preseason. He did not have anything. Other than virtual rookie mini vans virtual. Ota's virgil mandatory minicamp. And it wasn't a little training camp that he actually got his first taste of nfl action. He had signs and and there were moments where you could just see the potential coming from this player. It just seemed like he could never put it all together. It almost seemed like sometimes his eyes got so big and his feet got so excited that he tripped and fell on his face. If you don't know what. I'm talking about by now. It's anthony mcfarland. The running back just recently reported training camp. He busted a forty touchdown run. He is lightning in a bottle. The problem was last season is like i said nothing ever came together. I'm excited for him to get repetitions. You can't i. i'm sorry. But i am not buying into this fat this theory that just because he played some snaps in twenty twenty as a rookie that he is somehow seasoned as a football player. No in my opinion. This is the second half of his rookie season. Unless you're chase claimable or alex. Highsmith who played significant snaps. Now even throw kevin dotson into that category. These players are still learning about the nfl game. It's just the way that it is until because of the situation in twenty twenty. I'm really excited to see what anthony mcfarland brings. Does he bring a different dynamic. Does he bring that third down back or change of pace back. That fans are hoping for or is it not so much. It's really not that great. And what what we're gonna see is just another running back has speed became really hit the whole. We don't know we don't know we haven't seen it. We'll see if hopefully we can see what's going to happen with. Anthony mcfarland the former us university of maryland terrapin in the final and the fifth on offense. I'm gonna go with second round. Pick from penn state tight end pat firm youth fryer youth has been getting rave reviews as a pass catcher. We know he's athletic. We know he can run routes. We know he can catch the football. Everyone is heard this statistic where every single time his senior season that he was targeted in the red zone with a catchable pass. He caught the ball. This is not breaking news and this is not anything that said. Wow i didn't realize farm. You can catch the ball like this. No this is what he does. The question is can block at the nfl level. That's the question. Can you block the nfl level. He's going to be tested. He was abused in backs on backers drills or more than ones just on saturday they did the open-field a linebacker on tight end and alex smith had his way with him more than one account. He has work to do in that arena. I think he can learn. I think he can improve but pad farm us. I'm actually looking forward to just seeing him. Play how fluid does he look. Does he look he. Did they used to call him. Baby gronk i. That's i'm not putting that on anybody but at the same time i'm watching him and how. How does he look like. He's kind of gotten acclimated to the nfl in the nfl. Game until we shall see so those are my five offensive players who get out your pen and paper and write these down players to watch. According to jeff hartmann kendra green center. Dan moore junior tackle quarterback dwayne haskins running back anthony mcfarland and pat ferrari meath tight end out of those three out of the five or rookies. That shouldn't surprise surprise anyone. They're going to see a lot of playing time on thursday in can't know. Oh what about the defense in. What about some honorable mentioned players. We'll talk about ever. This breaks agent support for this episode comes from.

"I said all right. i'm gonna just go back to sleep. And then i hear this more russell and right behind my tent like yeah. I don't know what that is but light on. Let's start doing some beat. Ese works educations up for well. I i don't wanna get devoured by a bear. That's that's always good. You know. I mean i can see that show though i can see jeff hartmann dave scofield talking about how i was devoured by bear memorial would still get three thumbs down and you know how sports fans are. They would say any word. And who's gonna replace brian. I the very first question wouldn't be about. Oh gosh devoured by a bear so so let's start this up. Pittsburgh steelers fans welcome back to the hangover. Brian anthony davis alongside me shannon white and. Tony is so great to be back. I missed nation. I missed hashtag bad company. I missed all of you. And i'm so glad to be here and all this stuff happened when i was gone. Vidi vici retires. I'm going. I'm in the woods going who what's going on next thing. You know. melvin ingram. Show next thing you know. We're hearing that steven nelson might come back. Stephen nelson's not coming back steven nelson says. Hey you're all lying. I'm never coming back so it was a lots of stuff happened. You guys did a great job. I had a chance to listen to the show Good job on the quota. Saying my name that many times i appreciate it in fact you guys can keep your podcast jobs. So we're we're in good shape but yeah so no. I am absolutely. I'm thrilled to be back. I'm thrilled the tony is alive. Because there were some reports of his demise. And i was really worried about that as well. So we know that he's okay and shannon. You look better than ever man. Oh thank you look at shannon being the corner square on on hollywood squares up there that ethanol privileged quarterback position. Look at that so all plays to be in place now. I've got a main regret though. Something happened last week that i wasn't here for and it's killing me and i'm going to apologize. Happy birthday felicia. I know it's it's a week late but happy birthday triumphs. I'm so sorry. I missed that but you know. Hey it is great to be back here. And let's get into it. Pittsburgh steelers training camp fellas. What are you thinking of so far but still you shannon white. Just super excited again. You know football pants. I mean without paying you know insurance but everybody seems to be really happy focused Already and and you know knock on wood. No may have reported injuries yet. So i'm happy tony. Defa what you see an out of the south side and now going into heinz field. I just continue to be impressed. By the reports of shannon said about the focus and how player like nike harris is he. He can't get enough work he just can't he can't do enough and like we said. In the summer they have or earlier in the time to go home and report. You're hearing about pat fryer muse and even even antoine brooks. I wasn't expecting here. Why hear anything from him. And now you're talking. You're hearing reports of how he's doing decent in the slot and there's a player that maybe not a lot of people thought about as a candidate for that position so i mean i'm just excited about about the young guys because they're going to need to depend on a lot of young guys this year. So that's something we are going to be talking about in the show. So let's save. Some antoine brooks talked for a little bit later because he is definitely going to come up on this show and we are going to talk about on this show players that are shining already that you didn't expect to those guys. Some of the making their jumped from the big jump from year one to year two players that also that we're looking for to really show up we're gonna talk about players that showed up so far i'm gonna talk about one that showed up in a much different way and someone that keeps showing up in this same way. It is first of all dan moore junior on saturday to fights in a row to place fights one with isaiah bugs one with cam hayward you a lot of times that is that's an earning respect factor and guys like cam or pushing a rookie to see how far they'll go so that's not anything to worry about but you also wonder with isaiah bugs. Somebody made a mention today is why is this guy. Always get into fights. What's up with isaiah butts right tony. I think it's a good sign. It goes back hearkens back to what they were talking about in the spring during the draft or after the draft or how they were trying to find more aggression among the offensive lineman last year with thoughts. Of course we heard that. We've heard that about kendrick green and now dan moore who you know who's apparently really aggressive in ornery and trying to make name firms of my question is i didn't think they were allowed to even really scrimmage scrimmage pad so it's impressive that they're getting into fights without without pads that tells me that he must really want it shannon. Does that mean that he really wants it. Does that mean that he is so fired up in ready to go. Does that mean that. He's being tested by the veterans. What does that mean with dan more. Oh definitely he adrian. Klemm ovid's vlad coach. He screamed all these guys before the draft to talk to him. And and i guarantee you. He stressed that this is the direction we're going and we're going to be mean. We're going to be nasty. We're going to be physical and he said earlier. You know if you if you ain't gonna bring it here but it's going to be on the bench and i think that more took that to heart. He's in there and so naturally the veterans are going to try to test him a little bit and you know these happens in the hot sun i turn and the you know these high temperatures. You know the blood ball's a little bit and temperatures flair and it's a great thing i said i'd much rather have to tell it. Take it down a notch kicking him into but to get him to you know. Play harder and show more effort. So i think it's a great sign. I think it shows a lot about adrian klemm and you mentioned him shannon adrian..

"With the first team. It didn't take long for mike tomlin to say. Listen calm yourselves down. This is because of the hall of fame game. Don't read too much into it. Of course people read too much into it. But still dan moore. Junior has been making news outside of the fact that he was running with the ones. How in blocking drills he got into it cam. Scuffles have already broken out with two players is ahah bugs. I wasn't surprised by that. Isaiah bugs in carlos. Davis got into a little fisticuffs on the sideline last season in baltimore. So i'm not surprised that bugs is someone that's a little bit testy. The second player though. Dan moore junior. Might wanna look in the mirror and say did i make a good life decision today. And that's cam hayward why anyone would want to test that ban that man. Because he is a man he is a strong man. I don't get it so dan more my new look himself and say dan. If you want to have a long career you might not want to poke the bear. Ask quinton nelson from two thousand eighteen when you see the bad end of cam. Hayward's encounter so but dan moore junior. The thing about this is when you did like the scouting reports on dan. more coming texas. A lot of people said that he was a finesse player. Didn't have the aggressive streak that he has a size. He has the skill set but he's a developmental prospect. If i'm dan moore and i'm reading these things oh my gosh it's getting a fire under me like you would not believe. And i'm ready to go out in a certain myself in front of the coaches and say i'm not going to be pushed around by anyone not bugs not to it not hayward not lulu not warmly. It doesn't matter who you put in front of me. They're going to get my best. I have no problem with that. If it went too far. Went too far it happens. I mean anyone. That's old enough to remember a young antonio brown who was a budding superstar literally getting into fights with i taylor almost every single training camp practice. It was almost every single practice. They were going toe to toe. The veteran i taylor the becoming star antonio brown and they were butting heads. It happens it happens it might tomonori says it. Iron sharpens iron. Dan more junior. I learned a lot about him in this very short time based on the fact that he showed he's not scared of anyone we'll see if it pans out because he's gonna get a lot of reps during that hall of fame game. The next is kendrick. Green kendrick green as as an interesting camp. He did start with this. Starting starters. he was not listed as a starter on the first depth chart. Don't read too much into add. The steelers rarely ever have a rookie as a starter on the depth chart although najji harris is the starter at running back kendrick. Green is going to get a lot of reps in that hall of fame game. He missed a day for personal reasons. I really want to see what the steelers think of him by how they utilize him and how he responds but kendrick green the fact. They're even saying he's going to start. 'cause do i need to remind everybody out there. Jc an our not proven bj finney not proven kendra green not proven as rookie. They're given the rookie. The first shot. I have no problem they said. Bj feeney's going to get the start in the hall of fame game and then kendra green. We're gonna work in nope kendrick. Greens getting the start. That's significant all right. The next offensive player pat fryer second round. Pick out a penn state. This kid has been turning heads so foreign training camp. He is his smooth route running his tremendous athleticism his ability to catch the football. Just on sunday those reporting random wonderful fade route cottage to- tapped in the back of the endzone. Summer saying travis kelsey. I think it's a little bit more of a rob gronkowski type. I don't think he's as athletic. Is travis kelsey but any time you're talking about that type of mold for a tight end. That's exciting is. Heath miller was great in heath miller was probably one of the greatest if not the greatest tight end in steelers history but heath miller was.

"I'm not saying that what i'm saying. Is that what if we are learning about specific individual players. And that's where. I'm going to go with this podcast today before we get to that. I think it's worth noting that so far in camp. Everything has been geared up towards the hall of fame game the hall of fame game. That's gonna happen. Thursday august fifth in kano ohio against the dallas cowboys there. I mean you've heard. Mike tomlin talk about this ad nauseam. He talks about the quarterbacks in who's getting the work and who's getting more reps with the ones and the twos it's based on who is going to be starting in that hall of fame game. It's about the offensive line. Dan moore junior left. Tackle kendrick green at center. They're getting the majority of reps. Why because they want. They're going to be the ones that are gonna be starting in the hall of fame game. That is where everything has been going in terms of teamwork team drills team sessions. They want to get the players that are going to be playing a lot significant reps in the hall of fame game. they wanna get them repetitions. I have to think before. I move onto these individual players. I have to think that some of these players are probably going to be really really nervous going into this. Preseason going into these games even the hall of fame game. Is ben rothlisberger going to be nervous. No he's probably not even an address. But is someone like antoine brooks junior nervous. Maybe is someone like. Bj finney nervous. I would think so think about. Bj finish just general. Here's a guy that was an undrafted rookie at a kansas state. From the pittsburgh steelers his childhood his favorite team. He turns his backup..

"You got you got unusual a professional. I've got idiot. Dogs barking in the bathroom. Nearly three down so i was just trying to not have that so thanks for reminding me might professionalism as i as we're all gonna talk about a strip club in the so this is. This is something that i've changed just at the last second here. And it's a guy that i am super excited about as a draft. Pick for the steelers. But i don't think that he is going to have much to do with two thousand twenty one. And it's dan moore junior a love the pick. I love the idea of having him here. I just don't think that he is to be needed to be called upon or any kind of hope that he's not needed to be called upon in two thousand twenty one. So i'm gonna go ahead and say the for a pick from texas a and m dan moore. Junior is the guy at my number nine but it does not diminish how excited i am about this guy. Okay dave who's your number nine. I almost like my michael just to do it by number nine. And i'll give you the reasons as these as we go but my number i'm i i went with trae norwood specifically because of this year and it's not just because it's him because they have they have a lot of young guys also through the undrafted free agents that we'll talk about. Eventually that could be in the mix to of maybe be a sub package guy to fill in for the for the steelers. I don't know that he has to be that guy this year. He could be a guy that is just around. He's a seventh round. Pick as a defensive back you know. One of these guys might not even make the team because last year still even though it was the first time every rookie drafts right every drafted rookie play for the steelers. In their rookie season. they all stood it. Make make the fifty three man squad to start so and the thing is with norwood. There's a there's a lot of guys in competition there at the end. So that's why. I put him in in that position. Okay so. Brian said buddy. I'm sorry dan moore junior. You're saying traynor would. I'm going with the number one pick. That was like what isaiah louder milk. I i just you think about the fact that he is. He's been touted as a project. He's at a position. That is the deepest position on the team arguably lease on the defensive side of the ball. I i think we all assume he's going to make the team but at the same time. I don't think he gets a helmet. Unless there's a bunch of injuries. So i'm gonna say isaiah louder milk for me number nine the least important this team in twenty twenty one i could see him developing into something that is a very serviceable defensive lineman. Just not this year all right. Brian would number eight. He got so. This was my original number nine. And it's dave's number nine. It is trey nor would i really think that you're going to see him. The reason i elevated him above dan. Moore's i think you're going to see more trade norwood trying to break in on special teams if he does get some action. It could be the special team route. I you know. I go back to guys from years past and i remember a rookie from nineteen ninety. Five lafond flowers who ended up being a pretty good player for that team but he was special on special teams in that nineteen ninety-five super bowl season in which they were the runner up to the dallas cowboys. So i'm gonna. I'm gonna follow that in say if norwood does something on special teams he could make an impact. So let's go ahead and put him at number eight days. Go richard eight number eight number. Eight would be one isaiah louder milk. Sorry i had basically for a lot of the same reasons. Jeff said the only reason i put in eight over norwood is it's something that you brought up and that is. He's going to make this team because they gave a fourth round. Pick the trade up to get him. And i can't say for sure that norwood's going to be the guy to make the team because i hope all these guys make the team but if you look at it and say statistically all nine of them making the fifty three man roster pick someone who's not just because of where he was drafted. He's he's going to be there. That's why that's the only reason. I put a louder milk ahead of norwood because i'm more confident. Make the team but you are exactly where he is buried on that depth chart. He is not a guy that they need to call on this year. Hopefully for mine number eight. I'm going to go to someone. No one has mentioned yet in that is An ford the pick for beef round four. Be that would be none. Buddy buddy johnson. I think that inside linebackers in another deep position for the steelers were also forgetting about ulysses the third if he were somehow someway able to stay healthy You have to wonder. Where does everyone fit. You have devon bush robert spelane you have bins williams. Heathrow buddy johnson. You have yuji three and all of a sudden. Let's also not forget. The fact that marcus allen plays inside linebacker miles killebrew's less it as a linebacker antwan brooks junior could be a box safety slash hybrid player. Suddenly all the people that are potentially going to be inside linebacker as a long list. I think buddy. Johnson makes the team. I would be shocked as a fourth round. Pick if he didn't. But i just don't see his importance being anything outside of special teams. That's not to like what brian just said about. Trade norwood that you can still make plays on special teams. You can still have value but in terms of playing in eleven on eleven. I don't see it happening. They would have to be a ton of injuries of position for happens. I'm gonna say number aid. But he johnson. From texas a annette. Let's go with brian number seven. He got number seven. Got milk louder milk. And that is the guy that i'm looking at here. I can see any position eight nine with this guy. I realized that that's a crowded area for him. But you've got guys into it and also hayward just getting a little long in the tooth. I wouldn't be surprised if we see louder. Mogo in the route of a carlos davis and in the last four games of the season starting to see a little bit more action and get into the mix a little bit more. So i mean not not really a not really expecting him to do much this year but as far as importance. Go that defensive line it needs to continue to be stout and if somebody goes down i think he needs to step in and stepping in a big way. All right dave. What about your number seven. My number seven. I have one. Dan moore junior because although i looked from to make this team i look for him to be reserved. I don't know if he'll get a helmet more offensive. Lineman are getting helmets now but because of the roster roles with how many you can dress based on if you have been offensive lineman but the reason that i put him here versus some of the next couple that i have early the next one that i have is because your backup offensive. Lineman generally play special teams. They might be in on extra points or whatnot but it's not like they have to be so that's one reason so and it's not like you are rotational where you'll get a few snaps generally who plays your offensive line plays. They're the whole game. And that's why i put him back so but the reason i put him ahead of the other two that i did is because of the steelers have problems at tackle where a lot of people are worried about offensive tackle. Then his ability might become more important as the season goes on if the steelers struggle with that position. So that's the reason. I put him out of the guys. I actually had the same player for seven. Dan moore junior and i actually didn't realize because i'm not a college football fan in this. These are not. My words is actually from Williamson who writes for steelers dot com former. Nfl scout i forget his first name at. Yep you're right. And he said the texas am had one of the best offensive lines in the in the in college football last year. And he was the anchor left tackle and he said that that is no worthy. I did not know that. So i learned something there i asked myself. Can he beat out. Joe hage as the backup. The primary backup tackle now. A lot of people are saying he's a project he's definitely a developmental. Tackle things like that. Look when you get to the pros either have it or you don't and sometimes it takes some time sometimes. It doesn't but i think with some new coaching and new scheme who knows I have i don't necessarily think or Not predicting the dam was is gonna win that job. But like you said dave. I could see maybe. By mid season of some injuries happen he might be thrust into position so he is going to have some importance..
