"More than five kilometers from your house at this point. Wow yeah. I've heard a lot of disturbing things going on in australia. All these kids that are being sent to a stadium apparently in without their parents consent without their parents being there. It's definitely. I've heard that that's sort of like the testing ground for the more extreme protocols that the new world order wants to put in place but i also think that like we were saying before we're entering an age of enlightenment which is why things have gotten so desperate and it's gonna reach tipping point where folks were listening to this show listening to other shows. Make a change for the better in this violent thing to do. It's totally out of know the spirit of wanting people to be healed and healing the planet because this system that we're fighting against is the primary cause of most people suffering and death in a lot of ways and i don't think that we'll ever get to utopia where suffering is eliminated. But i definitely think that there is a parasitic entity that has controlled society for many years thousands of years possibly and we're reaching a point where as human beings we're not going to fall under that spell won't be cordoned into these corrales. They've created for the past hundred two hundred years and they know that they see that coming. So this is like the death rattle as sam. Tripoli said couple months ago of the elite you know and i think you know all these sick cases coming to light with epsteins stuff and you see a lot of people stepping down from high positions. I don't think that biden's gonna last you know they. You know it's definitely we're heading towards something crazy. But i don't think that you're hopeless. I think there's a lot of hope. And i'm curious to know you know other than maybe having to make an escape. What preparations you're making towards is impending apocalypse that you know the book of revelation just trying to. I'm just trying to get book sales up. Just trying to do as many as do as much as i can to get the information out there. It's life changing. You know and. I think. I don't know i haven't i haven't hit that point yet where i'm like. This is too much for me. Move you know. But i will. I will hit that eventually and Just interested to see again. You know what they're going to do with waking that's gone on well and also i think it is sort of a fear play as well like you know the media. How much of it can we trust. And maybe that's all it is to generate fear so that those of us who would have been in this hybridization of love and light and knowledge are then warped back down to that fear vibration that's ultimately holding back the collective you know and i. I tend to think that that the spiritual energy has more to say about. What's going on in the world. Then have you ever read a bloggers. Have you ever read. A book called way of the peaceful warrior. I think that you know synchronicity quickly enough. I think that books come up for me recently but no. I've never read it. But i think rita partisans the recommend it. It's it was the first spirit. "Quote. You don't have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you. Dan millman in a world full of errands obligations. Noise and chaos. It is no wonder that sometimes our minds are sent into overdrive and we wind up feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Our mind gets full of clutter. We feel like we are trapped and our own head unable to find the piece that we are seeking. Have you ever felt that. There's so many things. I've learned on this journey to minimizing and simplifying my life one of the biggest lessons today that i have taken to heart. Is that just as our drawers and cabinets need decluttering. So too does our mind. So many times we solely focus on decluttering our possessions and neglect the issue of mental clutter. Mental clutter is when you have many ideas dos and stresses clogging up your mind that you can't think clearly you might start feeling anxious and have a hard time dealing with everyday tasks i'll know about you but if i am not careful dismantle clutter can creep up and it will take some time to come out on the other side of to be intentional and pay attention to what is going in my mind when your mind is d- cluttered. You're able to feel calmer lighter and stay focused on the things that truly matter. I wanna share with you nine ways. You can declutter your mind and find more peace number one right it out when you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed grab your journal and write it out. Whatever you're feeling get it out of your head and onto paper. Making this a daily practice is a really great way of keeping your mind. Declutter number to practice gratitude. Megyn everyday take ten minutes and practice gratitude for the beautiful things in your life whether that is first thing in the morning or before bed at night. Look around you and pick five things. You are grateful for even on the worst and most chaotic days. There's always something to be thankful for number. Three gopher walk get out into nature fuel. "Debris the horse and and watch him go through the motions from being a full of baby all the way to being a classic winner, and you made a very good point Sam about Rombauer, perhaps taking advantage of the pace in the Preakness, there was a very fast pace. Midnight Bourbon, the runner up the Derby winner Medina Spirit, the third place finisher, Those horses went very fast. Early in the pace continue to heat up from the half mile pole all the way into the stretch, and the fact that Rombauer to me was able to keep up with the pace heated up. That I think was key, because those two horses midnight bourbon, the Medina spirit look like they start to extend and try to get away from everybody and they got away from everybody. But Rombauer, who kept himself in the race Then he was able to wear down. The two horse is tired from the duel, So maybe he slightly took advantage of that. But I think the pace will be solid in the Belmont. With rock your world expected to get a better start. Hot Rod Charlie would be forward as well. We tell him with Dan Millman Daily racing form who covers of major races around the country, and also Southern California has a couple big races today. On and yesterday had a few aces, so and then then you wrap it up with a big Memorial Day on Monday holiday Was stick grace. So askew Look over this year's belt Watch. How do you see the 123? Try sector. Well, it's very early, obviously, before post positions are drawn on Tuesday. I think essential quality is a horse that has to be respected. I would use him and not exactly. I'm gonna give you three Sam. But let's box the trifecta Right now. I wanna wait for post positions and maybe the final workout. I think essential quality. I think, Rombauer. I think those two horses deserve consideration. How about rebels? Romance? The U. A Derby winner. Now the U. A. E. Derby has not Exactly been a very good prep at all for any of the Triple Crown races, But rebels romances of horses coming in fresh, he skipped the Kentucky Derby is a Godolphin home bread and I like the way you want the U a Derby knowing He's been at Belmont Park now for about a month. He has been training regularly there, and he looks pretty good. So rebels, romance is kind of my long shot playing there. I'm going to use him with Rombauer and essential quality and for right now, let's box him and stay tuned to B R FL eventually give you my top selection and speaking about The money junkie, Uh, rebels romance by like Smith. So you got some Hall of Fame junkies in the bell a lot on the Saturday Uh, take a look. But what else is going on? Said date this weekend. Uh, Mandy and today And pictures of us so much. Time Oaks is an interesting rates. You know, there's only a five force field. There are three strong contenders in there a lot of folks, we're going to be interested in playing suits say, who is undefeated for trainer Richard Mandella. I thought to say the perfect trip when she won her most recent start, I'm going to try to beat her with crazy, beautiful horse that ran in the Kentucky Oaks and let's be honest. Didn't run very well that day. I think this is class relief, certainly from the Kentucky Oaks and This five force field. We've seen Kenny McPeek ship to Southern California. In the past. I'm gonna go with crazy, beautiful to upend suit, Say in the Summertime oaks, and then you've got just a sensational card tomorrow. Sam On Memorial Day at Santa Anita. Three grade one stakes races. I kind of looking forward to the Hollywood Gold Cup. That's race Number eight and country grammar. The number two used to be with Chad Brown in New York. I'm familiar with him. He won the Peter Pan last year. He's always Kind of horse that needed distance needed maturity needed to grow up. Well, now he's four years old. This is going to be a second start of the year for Bob Baffert, and he's gonna get a chance to stretch out to a mile and a quarter. So I think country grammar is a chance to upset Favored Express train and the Hollywood Gold Cup tomorrow. All right, and I'm Monday, We also have a $400,000 race of Lone Star. The Steve Sexton State here gots and that one now in the Steve Sexton steaks. There's going to be a major scratch in there. By my standards. Likely the race favorite is going to scratch out of the Steve Sexton life. He's going to run in the Metropolitan Handicap on Belmont Stakes Saturday. With him out, the race favorite is likely to be C E Z Rock. It was turned into one of the better sprint. Is in the country for Peter Miller. Personally, I want to take a chance with the horse named Silver Prospector, the number one for trainer Steve asked me if I like this horse turning back in distance, who ran last time out of the Oaklawn handicapping made this big, wide run going a mile and an eighth from mid pack all the way to the lead, turning into the stretch and the flattened out. I think the mile and an eighth was a little far from he's gonna be a good price in the Steve Sexton Miles, so I want to give him a chance. Cze rocket the horse to beat Okay, Well, we'll be away for entry Day, which day of the week, but they're going to end her for the Belmont. They fell months takes draw on Tuesday. Not only the Belmont, several other stakes races, the Metropolitan Handicaps Acorn, the Manhattan on turf, you name it. They got it. Belmont on Saturday again, Let's keep our fingers crossed and what the weather is kind. All right, But we appreciate you being our first guest today. And, uh, give us a little thought about what's going on. Had Sandy that and later on, we're gonna be a handicap in with Larry Stubs of the San Francisco Chronicle turf writer on today's card at Golden Gate. So one of the final question. There's a new job come back to California to make his tactic a stack too. Said Nita and his name is Trevor. Uh, Trevor Chrissy, are you familiar with familiar? Oh, it's Trevor. I am very familiar with Trevor McCarthy. Trevor McCarthy has been based for many, many years in the mid Atlantic area riding at Laurel and Pimlico, and he is perennially the leading rider at those tracks. He is excellent. He kind of went to Belmont over and Aqueduct over the winter. He compiled a very good record there, I think forever is going to fit in. Very well in the Southern California jockey colony. He has a nice combination of patients. He could be aggressive on a speed horse. I hope the horseman give Trevor a chance because he's won a lot of races and this is a great opportunity for him to get on some nice sources. All right, well, have a good Sunday and we'll talk to you down the road because after the Belmont's over, people will be getting ready and thinking about Saratoga and Del Mar. Well, I appreciate it, Sam. Best of luck to your listeners today. Okay, Dan L'm another day evaluation form Got us out of the gate. We'll take a break, Come back with news and notes and that you re still well had to cap today. His card..

"To at the track with Sam Speed. Finally, our team sports leader let me play among the stars. Let me see what spring is like on a pleasant welcome to Dan Millman of the Daily Racing form Sundays. Of the racing season in the New year. Good Morning, Dan. Good Morning, Sam. Happy New Year to you and all of your listeners on you, too. And how's the weather in New York today? It's a pretty nice day. It's cold as is to be expected, but at least no rain, Thankfully, no snow and hopefully a fast track and aqueduct a little bit later on this afternoon. Okay, so, uh, sand near got off to a good start. And Pretty soon Oakland will open Gulfstream will get a little report on your thoughts on gold stream Going gate got the clearance to resume Racine beginning this thirsty But so far everything's off. On the right track at the right scheduled time. It's all goes well, we'll thank goodness say it's about time we're having a little bit of normalcy returned to the world of horse racing at the very least, and your rights, Anthony, this certainly had a lovely start end of 2020 start of 2021 beginning with the Malibu and we saw very, very nice horse, win the Malibu and he's going to go on to the, uh Pegasus World Cup. It looks like Sam, Mr Charlotte. It looks like he's going to go to that race for Baffert in the Pegasus. Um We're going to see a very good horse. I think for Bob Baffert in the next few weeks and months in the three year old scene, and that's life is good to just one. The sham. No, I know it was only a very narrow victory over his stablemate Medina spirit, but he got a very fast Beyer speed figure. There are a lot of handicappers and a lot of observers that are already comparing this horse. To authentic last year's Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup Classic winner. They have the same running style. There's still a little bit green, comparing them to how authentic was at this point last year, so it could be very interesting to see how Baffert manages this one on the road to the Kentucky Derby. And this is the winter meet at a quid uck. And what's the highlight of their meat? Well, we're going to see seeing a little bit later on in the meat, the three year olds taking center stage and races like the Wood Memorial. It's still very early to for these three year olds to slowly pan themselves out in New York. We don't really have a leading contender off of the two year olds from last year will be likely Eclipse Award winner will be the Breeder's Cup. Twitter essential quality. He's going to point for races like Ah, the Risen star at Fairgrounds or maybe a race at Oaklawn like the Southwest for his seasonal debut, And then you have Jackie's warrior want to grade one raises in New York. But he's based right now with the fear of grounds for Steve asked me is in. He's got enough to a couple of breezes right now. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him in Oakland Park. I think that track would would fit him very, very well. But in New York these three year olds over the winter they they take a They take a little bit of time on the horse one make to Rome on New Year's Day. The first sort of Kentucky Derby points race was a horse named Capo Kane would just wanna race it. Parks of maiden race, The Jerome was won over a muddy track. That horse won by six lengths, but still has a lot to prove. Now in the Gulf Stream the scene they kind of start out slowly, But do they have any come up on their schedule? They have a race. That points picks up points for the three year old. Certainly will be seeing races like the Fountain of Youth from the Florida Derby. And, you know for for so many years. I mean the Florida road to the Kentucky Derby has just been has just been so important. But before we get to that, you know, you'll have three the the Pegasus World Cup Day, which is coming up in two weeks. There are major major horses. Of course, Last year's winner, Macho Gusteau, unfortunately, was retired. But I think in this Pegasus, we're gonna have a pretty intriguing bunch, especially Charlotte and runs a horse named Kroop Timber on the Naira mile at a sort of big upset. He's been up and down or for most of his career, it looks like he's going to be running in that race. That's going to be a good betting racing. We've seen the Pegasus World couple of stars over the last few years. But I think this year's Pegasus World Cup will be a great betting race with horses like Nick's Go the winner of the Breederscup Dirt Mile Code of Honor horse That's been very solid over the years winner of the travelers a couple of years ago, even the much improved tax. So keep an eye on the on the Pegasus World Cup in a couple of weeks, 13 days to be exact. Uh, code of honor, always seems to run with a good effort and always is in the showing. That is true Code of honor. Last time a little bit of a disappointment, I would think in the Clark Candy cat. He was beaten by the recently retired body Express, but we know he has the ability I thought he was. The victim of a couple of tough trips in this race is last year tough pace scenarios. But you get to a point where how many excuses do you want to give up worse, and I think that's what you're getting at where he's shown the ability. He just hasn't really able been able to break through at the top of the game. But maybe with the recent retirements of sort of the Courses the because the laws in the authentic sin the the maximum security's. Maybe there's a new opportunity for him at least the beginning of this year to show that he's a top older horse. We're chatting with Dan Ellman is a daily racing form to see racing season just kicked off this past 10 days and Standing media also very good start where their record handle and now there are a lot of horses that want to turf paradise when going gate closed, and they ended up with full barn area. And, uh,.

"I do. I do various things for the hips and the knees and I, do pushups handstand push ups and all that. So I things to that basic workout and that that then I'm ready to get dressed and go about my day. You know people ask me at your age. Do. Still work out and I said, yes, every day every morning I get up and first thing I run to the bathroom. But, after that, I do this workout routine then. I go either I bike for five six miles around prospect park in Brooklyn. or I go for a brisk walk or I do other things for Cardio, I, go to the Y. and I do some weights. And some swimming. So I do those things too. I stay pretty active. and. That's that's helped a lot. It's a good core for life and then come home eat breakfast kind of vegetarian type helpful breakfast, and then email and other writing. I have to do in projects and enjoy a conversations like this. That's great. I saw that on the website to I'm GONNA check. I. Do you have any last words far audience then. You know I think it's really important for us. To. Trust our life unfolding. We tend to compare what is the good life on facebook and social media. We want to show what a good life we're living. We're. To live the good life. What we might be missing the grandest life of all while all this striving is the life we're living right now. So I think it's very important to to trust. Our own life not compare with other people in respect that. So that's probably what I would close with. "The system, but the way I would explain it. The only way I know how to explain it because I don't know how it works either how does are adding up the numbers of our data birth give valid reliable information. Deepak Chopra called Amazingly uncanny. Accuracy. But he's not alone. If you look on on Amazon many many many reviews of the book so. Let's say this if. If we look at a tree outside. Doesn't matter where the tree is. Chances are there is not a single tree on the planet exactly like that tree in terms of the angle of every branch stem and leaf. So each of us is unique in that way. We're not just numbers birth date or anything like that, and many people share the same birthday same birth number. So we're each unique. But. We can say things about aspens, oaks, or birch trees that are different. From other trees. So? Even though we each live our own unique story, our own unique life, we follow certain patterns that workout in the except for some people on the positive or mature others more than the negative or immature. And that is. How our lives shape but how they also fit into these patterns and that's what I share. Now, how the data birth is related to all of it, I can't say for sure. But it has to do with knowledge that we haven't uncovered yet. In in science. How we're connected to the stars the planets? Similar to astrology in. That way. One can explain that either It's more art than science, but there is some connection to our destiny in our life paths. So it does lend inside and clarity into people's lives, and again, people can just get a little taste by looking at the life purpose link. It's free at my website. Yeah. I'm GONNA do a little more investigation. It's. It's pretty, pretty interesting now to two final. Questions I guess you could say. Kinda around off every interview, I do I one is For our audience they like this I like it day in the life of Dan Millman from waking to sleeping what is normal day for you look like. Sure I'll take any typical day. As soon, as I opened my eyes as soon as I wake up I actually in this may sound a little extreme, but it's just how my life shaped up by I begin doing some isometric exercises because morning is my exercise time. I. Start My day that way and I do I won't go into this specific is metric for the quads the core. Stretching my neck certain ways releasing tension from the neck because I'm a writer and that can happen. At and to strengthen it and released tension because conscious tension can release chronic tension So my next been in great shape since I started doing this, then I do some stretches in my leg before I even get out of bed quietly not to destroy my wife. Then I do the peaceful warrior workout, which is you may know I've I've practiced every day for well I guess now it's about thirty five years every single day I do this workout and it's designed to be completed in less than four minutes today. It's based on the principle little of something's better than a lot of nothing So I always basic my workout on this core peaceful warrior worked out and I teach that as an online course again through my websites but I do that. But I've added things that kind of physical therapy at my age..

"It's numerology and using that in your date birth for. Helping you develop your your life's purpose that that was really fat that was. To me. And it in sitting you onto about paradox, I'm saying to myself, how could my birthday to have anything to do with my purpose yet I'm extremely intrigued by it and download the APP and I've started investigate a little bit more about it Had had come Where did this come about? Sure sure. Yeah, and By the way, the APP you're referring to, in case your listeners one, no is the life purpose. APP that's what it's called. Any anybody can actually go to my website and click on life purpose. And they will see a life purpose calculator. They just put in their date of birth and they'll get a taste just to sample a paragraph or so about their life path in their forty five different life paths for people born. Since one, thousand, nine, hundred, and the the way I would put it this. Yes. It's based on the data birth. You know I was never really interested in numerology no I glance at a few books and they seemed abstracting vague to me with this path that path destiny path soul pap I didn't know what it all meant and. Maybe just didn't seem that accurate. Then an rather unusual mentor I will be writing about in my next and final book in a few. Years. And he did reading from, he sat me down. Dan. You're going to be doing people some good in the future I hadn't written any books Oh yeah. I had written way of the peaceful warrior at the time and no other books. And he said. He told me things about my life that I could not believe how clear I said. You know me better than I know myself how can you know this about me and my life crystallized in a way? that. It hadn't before Lily Tomlin the actress comedian once said I always wanted to be somebody maybe I should have been more specific. So this material he told me about myself crystallize it, and made it more specific. Give me a handle on my life in a way I hadn't ad and when he said he was teaching an advanced now I asked him I said, are you psychic? He said no, but I've been trained to know where to look. which intrigue me. So when he announced who was going to be teaching an advanced training on an island in. Hawaii. There was no way I was going to miss that and I, showed up there and. He taught about twenty people, the fundamentals of the system when I call the life purpose system. And yes it's based on data birth. So it is a numeral logical system it just happens to be clear focused direct accurate practical. Did it was does it get insight into one's life but there are certain key universal or spiritual laws they help us overcome the hurdles plying them in our life on our life path..

"Right right. Now now, I thoroughly enjoy the book and I encourage everybody to grab it. I, have not personally read secret journey of the peaceful. Warrior, I will pick that up but I have read hidden school in the peaceful were and I have and I completed it Monday I completed your most recent work, the complete peaceful warriors way audio program. You know you can get on Amazon audible or even sounds true but like you've already mentioned that that kind of takes into consideration all all your different books in all your different teachings and all your different learnings kind condenses it in six and a half hours. Correct. Yes it does. Because, I know many people you know people are busy so many books. So little time and even people who really loved way of the peaceful warrior didn't necessarily read the second third, fourth fifth and all the books I've written there are people who? have. A new book out they read it. But for most people, they bred peaceful warrior maybe seeing the movie and I wanted to give them a flavor of the really vast expanse of information I've been exposed to through various mentors, and in fact, my last book I expect the next one I'm going to write is going to be a memoir. And it will reveal the story behind the story in the four major mentors other than socrates who influenced my life and work, but it's really about going to be about the spiritual search in the benefits and pitfalls of that search So. Yeah. So I just thought I would would mention that that the the the. Complete peaceful warriors way. provides. Element. Of Different facets of what I've learned that I wanted to share and found important. So at least I get highlights. On that program and something that I only touch upon in the program. Is the the idea of paradox which is covered in the hidden school, and I guess one of the best ways to describe paradox you know many of us confuse it with irony we got a paradox what is that? It's hard to define for many people but really it's Two apparently contradictory statements that are both true. And for example. In the famous book, a tale of two cities. Charles Dickens opens the book with those famous lines. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. And he goes on to describe. Other payers opposite pairs that are all true. we could argue today is the best of times we could also argue in a debate, for example. How it's the worst of times. So two opposite things can be true A spider is a vicious bloodthirsty merciless. Killer from the viewpoint of a fly caught in its web. But from your viewpoint or mine. Spider Ninety.

"Daily life is our classroom. We. Noticed that lessons repeat themselves until we learn them. Many of us will not our head and go. Yeah. That's seems to be true and if we don't learn easy lessons, they get more dramatic. which brings to mind that story. About The demand named Ralph was given a parrot beautiful bird. He loved the bird it was very clever and talked. However, he soon learned that someone top this parrot to curse like a sailor get incredible cabinet that would embarrass John when his mother came in friends visited this bird when let loose what's really shocking invective and he tried everything to reform the Bird Birdie he played affirmations in New Age music and spawn. Send him to a bird psychiatrist, but nothing seemed to work and finally Ralph reached the end of his patients and he grabbed the bird who was cursing at the time open the freezer door shoved him into the freezer. And close the door. And he heard muffled cursing and squawking in there but then dead silence. And he said Oh. I didn't mean to hurt the bird any any reached inside and the bird walked out on his arm shivering but otherwise fine stood on Ralph's shoulder and said in Ralph's ear Ralph. Asian in in there. I realized my behavior needs improving and. Which? Could. Could be a lot cleaner and I resolved to improve in the future and I I'd like to ask your forgiveness. Well, Ralph was really pleased by this radical change. but then the bird added by the way Ralph. I found in the freezer while I was in there was a headless chicken wrapped in plastic. Can you tell me what the chicken did? Wrong You know I think that story was. program. And that's again cost MC humored reminds us the bird wanted to learn the easier less than not the harder one. And so it's it's I like that kind of humor that instructs us all that reminds us. Of and guides us through our lives. So that's too I. Hope I haven't waxed onto long. Okay well, those are that's about the change in humor, some elements of that. But, the most important of what's element of what socrates taught me with paradox, and that is a key that I finally was able to address in the hidden school. How that understanding paradox using it as a key can help us to reconcile. In resolve some major questions of philosophy that lie actually all of our lives, it provided meaning in a foundation of of understanding so That's why paradox is so important but..

"It context They hidden school is my third and final book the Peaceful Warrior trilogy but it's really odd. You know my life honestly a little bit looks more like. improvisational comedy rather than strategic planning because I really didn't set out to write three books that were not sequels. The first one is the main book way of the peaceful. Warrior. But. There were pages there were there was information missing from that first book many people read it and I didn't see anything missing but I just referred to these times. I travelled around the world and experiences teachers I meant. So I wrote Sacred Journey of the peaceful warrior, ten years later. And thirty seven years after writing the first book, I completed it by by inserting another expanded slice that original story. In the form of the hidden school. And in the original book way of the Peaceful Warrior the old man I called. Socrates I met a real old flesh and blood guy nineteen sixty. Six. In Old Texaco station he was an all night service station mechanic and he wouldn't tell me his real name but he reminded me of the old Greek. So I started calling him socrates he was based on a real old guy. And He handed me a business card as the story tells and it said on it. Peaceful. Warrior Inc Proprietor Socrates specializing in paradox humor and change these like three key ideas that he dealt with and we didn't go into a lot of depth until the hidden school. and. Let's start with. Change. Change you know life comes at as many of us have noticed life comes in waves change then we cannot predict or control. Small things that happen sometimes big things. but we can learn to surf those waves. That is a fundamental life skill. One of those talents living going with the flow we've heard it many ways. Rather than resisting. It's accepting our reality as any good martial artist might do. He's not going why is that person attacking me I. Wish it hadn't didn't happen I. It's not fair all these resistance things and instead we go. This is what's happening. Let's respond to it in a positive constructive way flu going with the flow so. That is a fundamental element of socks teaching dealing with change..

"You know I was very much perhaps like many of your listeners was in self-improvement. No. I took speed reading courses and and memory courses. did gymnastics, martial arts, and so on and. One day I don't know when it was but at some point I realized no matter how much improve myself. Which is great thing to do, of course. But still only one person benefited. But if I could somehow influence the lives of other people if I could reach out and touch you know. Somehow, in a more positive way, it made my life more meaningful not everybody's called to do that. But I was called to teach to express influence and. I didn't know how it was going to do it I. I had to learn something about the skills of writing and speaking in order to do that and I started small I. Recommend to anybody, and this is what I practice is great to dream big but start small and then connect the dots. Because that is how we can turn what we know into what we actually do the most effective way to start small. So that's what I did. You know when I started teaching five. People would show up in my living room we sit in a circle and they put five dollars or ten dollars in a basket. Contribution we talk about life and I drew upon all the resources I learned from coaching from training in athletics, and later on more resources from working with unusual mentors. In more techniques and ideas. For. Improving our lives, and so that's what. Impelled me to do that and it started out I was writing articles for gymnastics magazine. I was a contributing I wasn't making any money at it. I just did it because I loved writing news articles coach was helping with recruiting and so on and this series of articles grew thick before I sent them in and I realized for the first time why that almost looks like a book manuscript and that was the first time it ever occurred to me. Wow. I might actually write a whole book because you know in college like many of us a ten page paper was intimidating so I wasn't different from that I was like anybody..

Happy to do that I was. As a kid I love swinging on ropes and climbing trees I was small but agile. Ended up discovering an old trampoline in the backyard. And love jumping up and down and I never never believed or even imagined beyond my wildest dreams that jumping up and down on a trampoline would lead to scholarship to UC Berkeley. And Coaching job at Stanford University and the rest of my life. I just followed what I love doing, and that's all I knew I you know I even as a kid I. Never with the aimed for success but something in sodomy aimed for excellence and so I just did the best I could at everything I did and I followed my heart. I'd say sounds like a cliche. But it led to. An involvement with how to create talent for sport because I was an athlete and a coach. And it seemed to me that talent was. Maybe. Twenty percent innate or inherited. Type for example, but that We could develop talent A. Talent is the ability to learn faster and easier in rise to higher level. That most people would agree with that definition of only call somebody talented and it seemed to me. That we could develop that. So I began to experiment and when I was coaching at Stanford. Rather than focusing on the skills of gymnastics, we worked on that foundation of talent developing in each athlete strength..
