Doug and James Debate the Greatness of Aaron Rodgers
"Made my feelings now. I talk about it in the pregame in the pre show here. And I talk about it now. I think Aaron Rodgers is a good quarterback. I think he is a way above average. I don't see him as great. And I know I get a lot of pushback from people about this. But and maybe we'll just say he didn't have the tools, Green Bay didn't give him the resources, whatever it is. But it is amazing to me and you help me out because you're the New Yorker. Legit issue. Is it the jets are just so desperate for anything that they're willing to take a mirage and say, it's going to become reality. I mean, I mean Greenberg. Hiring them around the studio this week on get up and everything. And it's like, really? Doug, did you see Zach Wilson play last year? Yeah? All right. When you know my answer is gonna be, okay, so we have different opinions. We have differing opinions on Aaron Rodgers. Because he is destroyed my heart more times than I can count. I mean, you're just glad to get him happy. It really brings me joy. But let me ask you something. Do you think Dan Marino is a great player? Great. You want him to play football? I think he is he a Hall of Famer. Yes. I mean, if that determines. Are you saying that not having a bunch of rings? Is what stopping him from being great? Only reason I'm asking. I'm gonna say maybe.

"Here's light quick feet on his dropping his set. He's got a live loose army as an easy delivery so there'll be a lot of booed action. He'll be good at that because of his feet and his ability to throw effectively on the run he's an easy thrower on the move. Yeah and that's what we've seen by the way. He's very comfortable moving in throwing. He's very good at that. And there's no. There's no argument here he he. He is an athlete and he's got a really lively arm. But you start bringing up marino like that's got you gotta be. You just don't understand how good dan marino was. You have no idea. Athletes are getting bigger right. Dan marino came into the league and he was six five to forty. We look at guys like that now. And it's no big deal. He was a monster physically. He was pre big bend. he was just. "Yes, he was, but but like to be ninth overall is pretty significant. It's kind of stupid to okay, so he knew what he was going to do You okay, Ryan? You say Bo Jackson. So that means Bo Jackson better than Barry Sanders, right? You, uh, better athlete? Yes, he can do. Yeah, he can do. He did more than one thing he did. You played more than one sport a professional level. Ted Williams. Did bupkis. Uh, Dan Marino. Mentioned Barkley earlier, Ken Griffey Jr. Allen Iverson, My guy, Tony Gwynn. Ernie Banks. Hey, clay to, uh How about Dave Winfield drafted in by now there's a guy Dave Winfield or pro leagues. Didn't win a championship with the Yankees. Think he did. It wasn't one of those teams, the one that made the late nineties. But he was he was a World Series champion was no no with the Blue Jays. He went with the Blue Jays. I thought Padres Randy Moss. Or the hockey shows Jerome McGinley, that 21 seasons and no championship. He wanted the Winfield one with the Blue Jays, so he can't be my answer. There's only one correct answer is Bo Jackson. I had beers with Jerome. I didn't know that after his first game with the Flames, I believe the Hawks plate and he had just been called up, and he walked into The same bar. We rat Hey, could weigh had national conversation a couple beers together so he doesn't make the list. I think you know what I think its Bo Jackson. I can't come on. I tried to give you other options. I can't come up with anything because he actually played at the professional level right and didn't win a championship. Those other guys might have been drafted by other other leagues and teams. But they never made it had a career right. If Dionne didn't win, then the answer could be Deon Sanders. It's either Bo Jackson or Deon Sanders. But Dion was lucky enough to be on teams that won championship. I want you to imagine this that happening in the social media Someone playing two sports. At the same time. Did you ever see the same day then? The Deon Sanders 30 for 30 about that? Oh, my God. Was that unbelievable? Imagine that happening in 2021. What kind of a claim with that athlete have Ryan today? In this era like dudes playing baseball and football, too? You know you're going from some random game against cancer, the Royals and then you play the Chiefs the same week Crazy Good, Danny. All right, gentlemen, the aforementioned therapy bunny. There was a golden therapy bunny named Alex. It went to the ball park in San Francisco over the weekend and attended the series opener against the Miami Marlins. Gentlemen, I ask you guys shot or no shot. We will see more pets at the ballpark after this therapy, But he became an Internet sensation. Well, apparently shot right, apparently shot. We will talk about this in the Idot bullpen earlier. This whole thing of you just bringing various animals because they make you feel better. Brian, is Aziz. You being a dog person? I know you don't mind that a dog being there. Even outside of dog Day, if that's what you need, But other than that, bringing a bunny, a goat cat That's not gonna work. Goldfish. I'm not even a dog day thing. I'm not. Why would you do that? Your dog that put this bring him to a ballpark and And make him sit there for three hours. And I mean that's not the fact that they put him on the Jumbotron. Well, Alex of money, and so then it became this national sensation and Now the warriors going state warriors of dance team is involved. And, you know, NASCAR events. You know, the owner seems to be monetizing this little bit. She lost her brewery during the pandemic, which you hate to see, but it was called K Dash Oz. And that's when she got the bunny because she lost her business. I don't mean I don't get any of it. But because they put it on, you know, instead of kiss cam they want we're bunny cam that day, And now we have to. Yeah, I'm bringing my peacock to the to the game. And if the plume that you can't see the pitch because of the plume, you know, tell your story walking. Pardon the expression. Yeah, I I think you have to draw the line at some point, Right. So on flights, Danny, have you been on the flight? Would when someone had to have their dog or cat with them? I have. I have been on a flight where there was a therapy, dog therapy dog, And I thought you good with that right or no. As a person that tries to be understanding of like mental health issues. I get it right if that that animal brings you comfort when you have anxiety or depression, I understand where it's coming from. I just wonder if people are pushing the envelope a little bit much. It's like with men when medical marijuana became legal, right if you knew somebody that could get you a medical marijuana card, whether you needed it or not, you were getting a medical marijuana card. So now, unfortunately, because I'm a skeptic. I see somebody with a dog on a plane and I say to myself, Is that really a therapy dog? Or you just don't want to put Sparky underneath with the rest of the baggage? I gotta be honest here. Are you taking advantage of the system before you had to spend a couple 100 bucks to put him in a crate and they put him in the cargo hold and you got him at the end of the day when the plane landed, will be waiting for them to unload Sparky sparkles. I think it's I think it's a little I think it's a lot much, actually. But you know, here's the thing like someone comes to the ballpark says I got my my bunny. Do you stop him immediately? Who do you who does the person talk to write at the gate? Right at the ballpark..

What they're saying: Philadelphia Eagles, Wentz or other teams — who has the leverage?
"All about away. Bought away by the way. The miami dolphins got their guy. I just meant they got us. That dude is they got a guy young guy so let's put some. what are we talking about. Let's put the question. Then this way. And by the way i would say this right now to are coordinating producer. Pete mcconville and our producer. Allie grenade. i don't understand how we do not yet have a feature called jeff saturday. Who's high this week. I mean every week jeff. Hester name that's got to become a tuesday stable. Is this week. We make a segment out of everything on this show but markets very quickly. If the dolphins get forgetting about guam if the dolphins get to shawn watson are they the biggest threat to kansas city in the afc next year. Yeah they are. And i know i say that because i saw were buffalo did. But i'm taking the sean before. I take josh allen and their defense. I'm taking miami. Defense with the sean. Look the inspire football. You play when you have a guy at that position that you know you can't win wit. It takes it to a different level. I love how floor is coaching. But i do think that sometimes going in and out with fits magic and into mayor. Put this team in kabul unknown territory. About what their identity was offensively and the defense never had a question. About what their identity. Would you bring this on. You answer that question. That's our quarterback. Raise the level of play of everybody around you. Oh and yeah let me tell you why. Because he threw for the most yards went out of number one receive on team this year. That's how good he is. Listen this is a no brainer. I would love to see desha watson and josh allen go toe-to-toe for years to come in that division and see who can make it out and then get the kansas city potentially in the afc championship bottom line in miami. They've been trying to find the next dan marino for twenty years. They thought maybe you're still may have him into a tunga vilo but shawn watson is as much more. A known commodity will see if that plays out. Meanwhile quarterback rumors are everywhere including these that the eagles wanna move carson wentz. We know that. What kind of market are they. Finding darlington has the very latest. It could be very interesting. Plus lebron james having another mvp caliber season. You'll hear why jay williams thinks he should win the academy award as well. That's on the way this is get up on. Espn do you own. Read your home share. You and i bet it can be hard work. You know it's easy bundling policies with geico geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com. Get a quote and see how much you could save. Its gyco easy visit. Geico dot com. Today that's geico dot com on. We go get up. And another of the quarterback trade sagas continues this one involving that main carson wentz whom league sources believe is on the way out of philadelphia and the eagles may also explore options with his longtime tight. Ends zach ertz. Perhaps philly could include ertz in a wentz package to maximize trade value. Words has one year and eight point. Two five million dollars left on his contract it look. There's a whole lot of speculation in jeff darlington insider here. I'll start with you as to why no deal has been worked out with wentz yet and one of the ways that i look at it from afar is maybe eagles. Just overestimate what it is. People might be willing to give up for wentz at this point when you consider the contract that he has. It's essentially the same circumstance as jared goff in los angeles and the rams had to pay a team to take him off their hands. So is that how similar or those situations and could that be. What's holding this thing up. Well very possible. Greedy speaking with a source with the eagles who certainly understand everything. That's going on with this deal. And you know the one thing that he said. I said what's the holdup here in his answers february sixteenth. Today lear doesn't even start for another month by a bunch of exclamation points and there is something certainly to that. March nineteenth is the date that they'd have to decide on paying him. That ten million dollar rostov on this. This is the runway that they're working with now. Of course you do want to make sure that you make the most of your leverage multiple teams involved. You don't wanna lose one of those teams and then Maybe cost yourself some compensation from that other team but we can point out here that This this source also told me that there is no no trade clause in carson wentz deal so it doesn't really matter say he wants to go to the colts but they're getting more compensation from the bears. They could just send him to the bears. It wouldn't be a problem

"Thank God. Ben's back. Brian, You're mostly wrong. I still love you. Hell, man. What did you do yesterday? I don't know. I need to go back and listen to show. I mean, if you want to. It's a broad cross country tonight dot com. Jeffrey? Yeah. Yeah, but I don't know. I don't know what I was wrong about. But I'm I asked the texture. I'm asking him now. Like what? It was I was I wrong about? Well, I'm sure the Philistines I I need If Ryan was wrong about something, I need you guys to lay it out in specific detail and at length. In the texts, 566 dancers on the text line. Where have you stay clear, by the way in a little bit on the text line. Who would you rather had have had in Denver for quarterback Dan Marino, John Elway, Marino had early 1st and 2nd your success. And made the Super Bowl But lost always struggled early. And then, of course, became a legend. I mean, they're both lessons, but, yes, I see kind of your point. Yeah, I hear you. I would rather have either of them. You know, Dan Marino was a great quarterback, and you know, they made the playoffs. Lot unfortunate. Never got back to Super Bowl. You know who this generation's Dan Marino was a little bit Mast ever never had the run game, Never the defense Kind of kind of patted the totals a little bit without throwing. You know, he's got the arm talent. I feel like that's you know. I feel like that's that's one of the comparisons. There never really had the team's success, though, because was all kind of about him. I've been told by the texture I'm wrong about the Broncos, but probably really good life. Mm e guess there's don't give him that much credit. Worse, worse things to be wrong about what we say. Yeah. You're probably really good. Unless I'm really not. I don't know how I'm wrong with the Broncos, though, So maybe maybe you could explain that one a little bit more. We'll figure it out. You speaking in generalities and everything like that. You know, you're wrong about everything on the Broncos. Every literally everything. Okay, literally. Everything right? All right, See people? No, I give it back to you. The people you guys know. Yeah, I said a lot of fun over the last couple of days on Twitter being told how I should be apologizing and how I should be admitting I was wrong. The show should be meeting. They're wrong about Shawn Watson. We What are we wrong about the Shawn Watson? I don't know that people said that he had no interest in the Broncos would not be coming here. Okay, well, how to put this as delicately as I can, because it'll blow up tomorrow. If I say it the way I want to say it. Um, the shot. Watson is not going to give up his leverage. What little leverage he has by eliminating teams at this point, and he's certainly not going to allow people that he talks to to say that he's just gonna say Yeah, I got interested everything every everything everything, because the most important thing for him right now is to get out of Houston. Right, so or at least present. That is an option to absolutely why. Why would he 100% about limiting options, But that's what I said last night, so I don't know how I'm wrong, But I said this last night, I just said Listen, what happened with cream? Jackson didn't change my mind whatsoever. Nothing on the situation. Jax. That's the dino but like he was saying is interesting. Like things have changed. It is clearly thinks that you only think nothing's changed, He said. The shot once it didn't say I want to go to Denver. He said. I haven't eliminated Denver. There's a vast difference between those two statements and people need to like. Chill out a little bit. I get it. Everybody's excited and you know, and they wanna have some fun. And you know me. I'm apparently a giant bucket of cold water. Um, you know, it's the eyes the ambassador of buckets of cold water everywhere. Apparently, I'm kind of with you on this one. Like I'm just saying like it's not like the shot is telling. People close to him privately something different than he's telling former teammates. I'll say that and I'll leave it at that because I'm not gonna put words in the guy's mouth and I'm not hearing those directly, but I am hearing from the people who are hearing it directly. So I'll just leave it at that. I really don't think I can tell you for the Broncos side of the house. I don't think the Broncos think three on the shot Watson. I don't think they think that their offer is going to be. Um, I mean, they obviously what they put together. They're gonna think it's fair because that's what they say. But I don't think they think that ultimately, they're going to In an arms race, be able to outbid some other teams that are going to be in understand, Watson. So I'm just trying to prepare you guys for the reality of what's going on here, and I know you don't have people don't like that They don't want to do. I don't deal in reality. They'd rather set themselves up for failure and then be super disappointed. Upset about it and cool, you know, I mean, if that's what you want cool their whole stations around town devoted to that said after the high line and bring on in ST Claire's lead writer for Play Colorado also, as usual from Mile High report, which have been Milo Report every Friday night. What's up, Ian? How are you? I'm ready for the Super Bowl to be over If I told you, Ryan, I have written more stories about the Chiefs that I have ever wanted to in my life. So I'm I'm ready for the Super Bowl that get over and I'm rooting for shack. Barrett that zah smart move. I like that. You know, I told you earlier as we were talking about that, you know, I got my guys Mace and James Gomez, who are both fucking years fans, so that that's an easy pull for me and shack birds. Obviously in that one. But at the same time, and I don't mean to make this worse than it is, but I don't think the chief's really going anywhere. So it's is like we might be you might be writing about these. This team. Going to the playoffs and possibly Super Bowls. It seems like for the next couple of years..

"I mean, I don't see Tom being in a position to dictate. Said, Getting DeAndre To camp next year. You know, I'm just pulling your name out. You know, a guy who's under contract was one of the best players in the league. I don't see stuff like that happening in the NFL. It's much different than basketball you. I mean, you don't really see that happening in baseball at all. But, um, I do think the trend that this might have started is teams techniques shot on quarterbacks who Have been one place a long time or had a lot of success. In another place and saying You know, let's just be a win now team this year. If we have everything in place, but the quarterback, let's go out and take a shot on the guy E mean, there's never gonna be another Tom Brady. But, um You know if if the Steelers didn't want Ben anymore, for example. Maybe some team would say, you know, we'll take one year run in and kind of like what the Colts did. With Philip Rivers this year, and I could see that happening where some of these older quarterbacks get one year too. Attempt to get their team deep into the playoffs. Gary, I want to ask you about the game itself. Get your thoughts here. But first, I'd be remiss if I didn't ask you your thoughts on the Dolphins quarterback situation. You know, for a year, The monster down here was, you know, tank for two or then after a year, the question is, Is he even the guy anymore? What do you think? With what? To? Uh Um yeah. Well, I mean, he was outplayed by fits last year. And Which Fits a man. I love it when he was with the Jets. I mean, he's one of my favorite guys. But, um, if you get outplayed by fits at this point, miss career and you're supposed to be You know the next great thing Even though you're just a rookie, you know, I think questions have to be raised, especially when two of the rookie quarterbacks Joe borrow and Justin Herbert was probably the guy that dolphin should have taken. And You know I'll play him. You know our son? Another note. Justin Herbert reminds him or Dan Marino than any place I've ever seen. Wow, coming after then. He's like the same player. You know, he's got a quick release. He's got a dynamic arm. He's fearless. Probably trust is on a little too much like Daniel's to do, Um A big guy. Extends in the pocket and lets it what's it go? You know, Herb. It's better athletes have been Dan was But he really does remind me of Dan and I'm kind of surprised when the Dolphins were doing all the draft home working. I honestly don't know Dan's involvement in your organization anymore if he is involved. No, he's had some role in their recent years. But, um I'm surprised that nobody's in Dolphin said. You know what? We could be looking at the next Marino here and said that to a guy coming off a hip surgery, he's smaller. I don't know. Well, okay. And it is not impressed by what I saw. From two last year and he did not play is you know the team wasn't as good With him is it was with with Fitz Appreciate the answer and s O about the game itself. What's gonna happen Sunday? Um I like I like camping in this game. I think it could be one of the more entertaining Super Bowls. Um and Brady season Braves just magic, you know, and it's such a weird year. With A unique set of circumstances here in the game. You know they're the first team to play Super Bowl on their home field. The defense has experienced now going against the Chiefs during the regular season, and the Kansas City's offense is so different than anybody else is because it's like a fast break offense there so fast. And to get used to Tyree kill takes the wall and evidence by him having over 20 yards receiving in the first quarter of the game in Tampa in November, so I think they're gonna go to school. On that experience with Kansas City, and nobody shuts down. The The chief's office. I'm gonna pick this game 31 27. Tampa and just say you know that everything is going right for braiding his career, so He might as well win a Super Bowl with the second team, strong call and never seen so many people down here they have been pulling for Tom Brady in my life, while people never thought they would be Gary Meyers, journalists, the host of the Goat podcast and I are Radio the author of Brady versus Manning. If you're into sports, and I'm into sports if you're in a football in the big game on Sunday Should be interesting. That really cool story in of all places. The Washington Post today, ranking the best quarterbacks of all time, and they say this match up of my homes and Brady will be one of the best of all time. Quarterback matchup. They rank it number three shit believe they have as the first Best Super Bowl ranking of all time, Quarterbacks, Goo breeze and Peyton Manning. That would have been a 2010 with Super Bowl 44 after that Super Bowl 51, which was Brady and Matt Ryan in 2017 this'll be the third best. He's a Brady and the homes. They have Dan Marino and Joe Montana from 1985, Tom Brady and Eli Manning and 2012 and John Elway and Red Farm in 1998, Anyway. Cool story. Washington Post Best quarterbacks. Of all time. "Speaking of this game, sucker, But Patrick Mahomes, huh? Obviously, there's more to the Kansas City Chiefs that just Patrick Mahomes 80 readers had a huge responsibility and And hand in making the Chiefs who they are. They were 12 and four before Patrick Mahomes. They were a division winner and a perennial playoff contender. Even without Patrick Mahomes, so read certainly has a lot of responsibility to where they are. And the organization has also drafted and developed weapons for Patrick. The homes really well. Travis Kelsey was already one of the best tight ends and football before Mahomes arrived. And Tyree Kill. Is just that fast. And just that good. Even without Patrick the homes, throwing him football's. Now he's even more dynamic and Explosive with Mahomes. But The guys they have surrounded. The home was with Tyreke and Kelsey and Sammy Watkins and Nicole Hardman drafting Clyde Edwards, a lair Damian Williams last year. They have a lot of ways that they can beat you and Mahomes takes advantage of all of them and the defense Having the higher Steve Spagnola load to be the defensive coordinator. Has clearly put the chief's where they needed to be defensively after years of once again, having kind of Mediocre or unimpressive defense's and that really killing them. Remember the AIDS he title game against the Patriots? They hired Steve Spagnola. Oh, and immediately won a Super Bowl with him in our back again, So all of those things are happening without Patrick Mahomes. But Holmes is the star. Holmes is the future. Hall of Famer. I think he is, and Mahomes is on an unbelievable trajectory. Don't need to recount this for you. But I will. Holmes has started in the NFL for three seasons. That's it. He's only been a starting quarterback for three seasons. And in those three seasons He went to the A F C championship game and all of them He hosted the H C championship game in all of them. He wanted a league M v P He won a Super Bowl. He won a Super Bowl M v P He's gone to back to back Super Bowls. And the only year that didn't end out of those three with him in a Super Bowl. He didn't touch the football in overtime. You know? This is crazy to say, But there's a 12 Davis corollary here where if he never play another football game after this, you might have to consider him for Canton. I mean, Terrell Davis has, like five seasons. And three of them unbelievably historic. Same with Gale Sayers. You know, that's the type of short brief career were already on entering upon for Patrick Mahomes, but I'm not I'm not off. The milk to be comparing him to Tom Brady like Tony Rome. Oh, did And I hated that. You know why I hated that. Hate just fast forwarding through. 15 more years of football to do a what if there's so many things that could happen, and it is not out of the realm of possibility that this is Patrick Mahoney's last Super Bowl. It's not It's not Look, Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks we've ever seen. And Rogers went toe one. Within three years of becoming a starter. And hasn't been back. Has been 10 years off. Aaron Rodgers falling short, 10. There was 11 years of Drew Brees falling short, 11. Don't need to bring up Dan Marino. We all know Dan Marino story but just to once again, reiterate. Marino splashes upon the scene in 1983 as a rookie. He takes over a couple of games into the season and the Dolphins catch fire go to the playoffs. They do not make a Super Bowl in 1984 his first full 16 games. He rewrites the record books. 1984. It was unfathomable to throw for 5000 yards. It's a little bit like throwing for 6500 yards now. Like If somebody threw for 6000 yards now, you'd be like, Wow, That's really impressive, but I could see it. He'd be like hitting 6500 yards like is that even physically possible? That's what happened with 5000 yards in 1984. And 48 touchdowns, which again Totally unfathomable, then this is his second year in the NFL, and he races through 1984 and ends up in the Super Bowl. Now they're the Dolphins lose to a better team. It was historically great Niners team that year that went 15 and one And had Bill Walsh in his prime and Joe Montana in his prime. And that 84 Niner soon could be the best. I think it might be the 18 19, but that 84 team was the only one that went 15 and one Everyone goes well, I mean, this is the second season. He's already this dominant and Look, he lost two historically great team. Never got back. So it is in the realm of possibility that these are the only two Super Bowls. We have received A Holmes. It doesn't feel realistic right now, but it is That's why saying Well, he's gotta win this to potentially catch Brady. I mean, stop. Stop with that to catch Brady means Mahomes has to do this. Five or six or eight or 10 more times. Don't even put that out there. That should not be where the bar is set from the homes to have Ah, great all time career. But if Patrick Mahomes does win this game. I honestly think for the rest of his career You'd have to consider him pretty much untouchable. When you go back to back That is again truly rarefied air. Think of the quarterbacks that have done this. Tom Brady..

"We are stacks. We got Ryan Fitzpatrick roll on him. Let's see where he plays next year. Obviously, there's a conversation to be had about to, uh, we know that story down in Miami we've got Jared Allen, Former great player, defensive lineman Sacko Sacko orders back in the day. We've got sick one Barkley. We've got a lot. We've got your love as well. Which is a great angle of the Packers. Obviously the Aaron Rodgers stuff take a doing today, buddy. You good? Oh, is fantastic. We're one day closer to the Super Bowl of his excited about yesterday's show. Bruce Arians fired me up because of bias. But whatever it's all good man, This is the This is one of the most exciting weeks in the NFL season really? Always in sports season because of all the stories that you're going to hear. Leading into the Super Bowl in the game planning and everything else. So, yeah, this Tuesday. It's still snowing up here, but it's fantastic. Yeah, we're we're inching toward it. Man is we get a little dip? We'll do some game specific stuff today. We we kind of dabbled in a little, Yes, a little bit. But As I said yesterday, is we get deeper into the weak and closer to the game. Well, obviously start. You know, I hate these. They're breaking down the game. Welcome to 1992. We're gonna break down the Super Bowl for you. But listen, all the stories going around the game are or what drives the week for sure, we've got great guests. I gave you few taking mentioned Bruce areas. Bruce was with us yesterday. We're gonna play something in this segment that he said about Tom Brady. If you want to get that whole interview, just go to radio dot com. Apple iTunes all the podcast YouTube dot com slash taking charity, But, you know, take Remember when Tom Brady said he wants to play to the age of 45 minutes and we like it was like five years. Like 45 years ago. He said that that sounds good capes. Okay, Tommy, you got it, buddy. Well, he's now 43 he threw from 43 touchdowns This past year, He took another franchise to the Super Bowl. And I was thinking of some. Maybe this is being overly selected. But I think I've got a decent enough database, too. Cherry, pick some names and not omit anything That's too pertinent. Like Owen Pallett Willie Mays, his final season right at the age of 42, Willy. It's not Babe Ruth. If it's not Hank Aaron, he's one of the top three players of all time indisputable. At the age of 42. He had to 11 with an O. P s s 6 47 right. It was. You know, the old joke is, you know, I don't remember this. It was the year I was born. But in the playoffs with the Mets, he was basically running around the outfield. Um, just it was said, like, in essence, just kind of routine pop ups. They just He was no longer will the maze. All right, Hank Aaron, Very serious symbol of the age of 42 had 10 home runs hit to 29 0 P. S s 6 84 Dan Marino At the age of 38 12 touchdowns 17 picks Peyton at the age of 39. Nine touchdowns and 17 picks so as much as we left about, you know that that bold statement from Tom Brady years ago we've got a thought. And, quite frankly, we have based on what we saw this year, and even last year like it wasn't as crazy. In real time, and it's still not as it was when he said it. You know he is He is to be cherished. And I know we kind of take him for granted. I don't know if he's gonna win the game. The chief's A loaded the Bucks a load of both teams will coach gonna be a great game. But even aside from all that stuff like we need to cherish every city, even if you don't like Tom Brady, that's right. Not to like him. You gotta cherish the guy. So, Bt early earlier today, I did a hit with our affiliate, Our intercom affiliate down in Miami. 7 90 the ticket and they asked me. Obviously this question about Tom Brady and us and what we can What can we attribute this to? Means to you to say that. Well, you didn't say steroids, did you? No, Of course not. He's I'm 15 years, retired 15 years I've been retired. He's two years younger than me. And he's still playing. And so why, like, how is this possible? And the answer I gave them is is I mean, I was thinking about it real time, But now that I have had time to recollect on it I mean, it really is remarkable how dialed in he is to being excellent. Now. Obviously, you can't hit quarterbacks anymore. Like literally. You gotta hit him in between this little area right here in your chest. And even if you do hit him there, you can't take him to the ground. You have to, like, make an effort to roll away from them. So you don't land on top of them. You can't in Bolognese. You can't you know, shoulder neck area. You can't do anything with quarterback so they're not brutalized. Like they usually used to be a blindside hits. Remember all those right? Those those don't happen anymore. Bt health and training and medicine and all these things have advanced. There's a certain it like a like a a a drive that we can't discount with Tom Brady, and it's an interesting one because you don't see it. Right. Most of those guys that have this this this this chip on their shoulder, they really wear it like they're angry. They have a scowl on their face. Where is Tom Brady? Has this like this ever present like smirk? You know what I mean? It's not not during the game. He doesn't know. I'm not talking about that. I'm just talking about like as he's as he's leading up as you as you know him as you see him and media. It's not like a fool like smile like, Hey, I'm happy. It's more like I got this smirk like I know something that you don't know about me and you're never going to know it, and it's a drive like it's based on many different things. I'm sure he hasn't ever talked about it, really, But there's a drive inside of him that we can't discount and it's and it's and it's almost one of one. For someone to be able to do it this long and this consistently and so you're right, BT when you see a guy like Tom Brady, who's 43 years old, the thriving and ex Elling at this point in his career and not looking like he's missed the step, there's something that we're not able to fully reconciled because we've never really seen this and in many places to play this long, especially in a sport is a Christmas at the NFL. And so, yeah, we give them a ton of credit for being the goat..

"When I get to interview Dan Marino, Lesher, the Super Bowl I'm like, Wow, this is Dan Marino next to me and That never gets old. That kind of Charm and that type of Wow, I'm really doing this that never. It never leaves. I remember. A couple of years ago, I was talking to Barry Sanders off of the air at the NFL 100 luncheon. And I just had to pinch myself and say I can't believe I'm talking football. The Barry Sanders. There's no cameras or microphones around. We're just B s. Ng. I said, This is my dream come true. And we have those things that happen Super Bowl week. And I often talk about how Super Bowl Week is just such a special thing for me because I grew up adoring the Super Bowl and adoring the NFL and Those were real moments watching that game. You know, my dad was gone on business a couple of times when I was young, and so I would watch with my mom and some of my favorite moments watching Doug Williams win a Super Bowl in B M v. P with my mom. Watching Joe Montana's comeback against the Bangles and John Taylor in the end zone with my mom and those will forever be indelibly in my brain. And so we have that path, right? Just go how these Air Super Bowl heroes and then There's another path where we have guys that were under the radar during their careers that are not household names that end up being unbelievable interviews. And while you're Julia that we had last segment, and Dan Klecko, this segment are those types of guys. They're just the great conversations. They're fun. They're interesting. They're engaging and you might not have heard of them when they played, But you hear them and you talk to them. And they're just really interesting story tellers and interesting personalities doing great things. So I love that is well. So Super Bowl week is always real. Two years after he moved to Miami to play for the Dolphins, and it was a Sunday morning I was working a zey The caterer at the Miami Children's Hospital, where Dan Marino currently has a foundation down in Miami, Florida, and it was seven o'clock in the morning and I put 75 cents into the newspaper stand at the Miami Children's Hospital to get out a newspaper. So I'm leaning over and I'm getting the newspaper and I'm pulling it out, and I'm looking at the front page. Well, I have a friend who's standing behind me and she's coughing and she's trying to get my attention. But I didn't know that I didn't realize it. "They elected to go with Willie Gall with their 2nd 1st round pick Over. Dan Marino. Russell Wilson third round. The point Here is Don't make the mistake of passing great quarterbacks thinking that you have to get the offensive line fixed first. Yes, you have to support the quarterbacks with a good defense and good offensive line and good skill guys, But when you get the chance to draft the all time great quarterback Wrapped them and then build around him. Offense is repeatable in this league right now, defense isn't You can have a decent defense and sure you can make it to the playoffs with a defense that has many turnovers that the Bears had an 18 or as many sacks is they had then, but the evidence is in front of bears fans. That is not as repeatable a thing as quality offense. The Chiefs had bad defense is up until their playoff run last year, and even then, that defense was Fine. It was fine better now than it's ever been. Offense wins games in this league quarterbacks pull the trigger passing is more effective than running end of story You can you can, in fact, Win a lot of football games despite a bad offensive line. Despite a defense, it's fine despite even some weapons that aren't as good as the Chiefs. If you have all of those weapons you're you are the Chiefs. You have to have that quarterback. You have to have that guy. You just can't say. Well, we're good for now, and we gotta build this part. So we're passing on another guy on that list that I just mentioned you and black Adela, Remind me this. Please going forward. Wait. When I hear from a collar that I haven't heard from in a little bit. I gotta stop asking them where they've been because I've had. I'm all for two on that right now. It was It happened with Rachel. I know we're going in a couple days removed from from the loss 68 years later, he said, Well, you know, I think in general, that's a weird way to look at it. You start talking about leverage and different things like I don't know. The only leverage I feel like that I have is the way I play, you know, And that speaks for itself like that. You have it. That's why you have all the leverage because of how you play. You're pretty good. Well, I know, I know, but I didn't see, you know. Thanks to thanks to Tom for anything I did see, you know, some of these comments being made And I don't want to go through them one by one and talk about you know the false It's being set out there, but I haven't even had the conversation. And when he's been put in these games before His teams have gotten blown out. And before you say things like well, Mike McCarthy stunk as a head coach his defense let him down folks. The last two times he was in the NFC championship Championship games. He didn't score. His offense didn't score a single point in the first half. Gotten shut out. You know, the defense letting you down? Is losing a game 45 to 35. Getting down 24 to nothing. 27 to nothing. That's on Aaron Rodgers. It is one win. And one of these games came against a guy named Caleb Haney. Where is he now? Maybe he's listening somewhere call in Don't try. I can't trust Aaron Rodgers in these games yet. You might think. Well, that's a silly thing to say. How could you say that about a guy that shattered all kinds of records? 48 touchdowns, three interceptions, had one of the best seasons in NFL history. Yeah, He did that in 11 2002. And then the New York Freaking giants went in there at nine and seven and beat him. Some guys just They don't These moments get to him. "Once so eight years of his prime Philip Rivers made the playoffs once. The best teams he was ever on. Here's the best teams 0609 and 18. You know six. It was the best team 14 into They had home field advantage. One and done they lost to the Patriots. Philip Rivers threw for 230 yards, no touchdowns and a pick. You know 9 13 and three One and done they lost to the nine and seven jets at home. 17 14 bad Dan Offense for Philip Rivers. And in 2018. They were 12 and four He beat Lamar Jackson in the wild card round. When the Ravens turned the football over three times, Lamar was a rookie. He had 100 and 60 yards passing. And then the divisional round went to New England and laid a stink bomb. They lost 41 28. They trailed 38 to 7 until late in the third. The offense was a diabolical that day. Those are the three best teams Philip Rivers has ever on. And he laid an egg in all of the post seasons. The idea that Philip Rivers didn't have anybody around him. He played with LaDainian Tomlinson Ah Hall of Fame running back for four seasons. He had a whole of fame tight end, one of the most prolific past catching tight intern NFL history, his entire career and Antonio Gates. Keenan Allen is a four time pro bowler, and even after LaDainian Tomlinson they had Melvin Gordon in recent years. Who's a two time pro bowler? Don't sell me that Philip Rivers never had talent around him. He had to Hall of Famers in his prime alongside him. And then finally This idea that he's the modern Dan Marino. I am going to run my face into a brick wall. The next time I hear Philip Rivers is a modern day, Dan Marino because you know what he's not Dan Marino. Is a generational once in a lifetime quarterback. Okay? Just because they both didn't win. A Super Bowl doesn't mean Philip Rivers is the modern Dan Marino. Dan Marino was NFL MVPs 23 Dan Marino threw for 5000 yards and 48 touchdown to 1984 when it was obscene and out of this world to even conceive that a quarterback could do that. Dan Marino was a member of the NFL's All 100 team. Okay, that is the greatest team ever assembled. Philip Rivers might not be the best player from his draft class at quarterback. Here's the thing. Philip Rivers had a really good career. He's not legendary, and the Hall of Fame needs to be legendary. When you look at Philip Rivers career from 2000 and four until 2000 and 20 Hugh L. The best quarterbacks of his career. Brett Farve, Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. That is inarguable. All those guys were better than Philip Rivers inarguable. During his life during his career. We can pick and choose the classical four. I think Big Ben is better than Philip Rivers. Most people would agree. I might put Eli behind Philip Rivers. But let's just say that River slots number to add those three guys No. Four. That means he's no better than the eighth best quarterback in the error that he played. I don't care about those stats because everyone stacking stacks these days. I care about where you were in comparison to the people around you. He's not a legend. Really good quarterback really long time. Good guy. Good teammate. He's not alleged. And the idea that this is a slam dunk. Shut. Shut the door! The door case. He's crazy. It is crazy, and it could only be that people like Philip Rivers. Instead of actually doing the work toe look at how limited he actually was in his career accomplishments when it mattered. And against his peers. He's not a legend and Canton needs to be legends. Don't get a morass all day yesterday. I'm looking at social media and all these football writers and observers were talking about how he's absolutely a hall of Famer and look, fans can say what they want. But writers and broadcasters and analysts should be able to dig into the facts of the case. What is this? The comparison to Dan Marino is offensive because Dan Marino's one of the five best quarterbacks ever to live Again. Philip Rivers is not the best quarterback was draft class. What's going on here? I think the problem comes in with the NFL on the Pro Football Hall of Fame specifically that there aren't the true bench markers, right? Like when Termine in baseball Hall of Fame we always knew the number 8 500 home runs the 3000 heads 300 wins. They're always kind of these numbers. And you know if you got to them, you would be a Hall of Famer. The problem is, there's too much moving parts here. You bring up a great argument the comparison to his peers. Some don't like that argument, so some will go with the Super Bowl argument. He never won a Super Bowl. But then people point the river's stats, But the stats are sliding depending on generation to generation. Of course, he's gonna better stats that Bart Freaking star because it wasn't a passing league at that time. So I just think the idea that there's too much going on on how we determine a Hall of Famer and no linear line of thinking is ultimately what's going to get a guy like Philip Rivers in where to me. If you're not comparing him to his peers, then you better have found a way to win a couple Super Bowls like Eli, and he didn't do that. So all he really has is the stats. Which is you brought up. I mean, that Ryan's gonna pass him different. You know, the next generation of guys will pass him because the passing league in the rules change that way, So I think it's ridiculous. Absolutely nothing. He checks enough of the moving scale boxes to put him in. But I got news for you. I think ultimately just based on this, He's gonna be India and then if he's in this is only gonna keep opening and weakening. The argument is generations past for who gets in And I also think that this is going to inevitably lead to guys like Tony Rome. Oh, getting in and we go down the line like that, And I think it's going to be the whole of very good, not the whole of fame pretty soon. Philip Rivers. Numbers are like Jim told me 600 home runs. Okay. You can't make the argument that because Jim told me a 600 home runs. He's better than Frank Robinson. But his numbers were better. And so when I see people well, he retires the fifth all time passer. It's the generation here. I mean, nobody would ever say he's better than John Elway or he's better than Dan Marino. But he's finished with better stats on those guys. It's insane to do this. It's insane, and I don't understand how we can put in three guy, three quarter quarterback from the same draft class because I got news for you. Big Ben's going in. And the only debates are whether rivers and Eli get in and I got a feeling allies getting in because of the rings. When you put rivers in three quarterbacks with same draft class are going to get in. That's hard for me to stomach..

Who will be Indianapolis Colts' quarterback in 2021
"But we begin today with music that philip rivers is retiring after seventeen seasons in the nfl. Sixteen with the chargers and san diego and los angeles and this one season in indianapolis when he got to the playoffs rivers never got to the super bowl but he stands fifth all time in passing yards and touchdown passes and he started the final. Two hundred forty games of his career without interruption will now become a high school football coach in alabama. Like his dad. We'll how will you remember his career. Well tony we automatically in any sport. Now we began to group people right and we associate certain people with certain folks football. It's done by position you know in a way that is probably not in the other sports. But i think of warren moon and dan fouts guys who were prolific prolific players who had long runs and played almost every game and they had a piled up passing stats. Galore like rivers did but they didn't reach the super bowl and then about through no fault of their own. Their teams weren't good enough. They got close. Each of those three gentlemen got close. But didn't have the breakthrough to the super bowl and rivers the same way river sets himself apart because he ran his mouth a lot. Which i have done without and i tend to like trash talkers but i i am. I didn't take to that. But he was a prolific quarterback. Tony he will receive serious consideration for the hall of fame. You know. I mean fouts and moon that to me shapes the category. I don't know if you've got other names. You'd like to put in there as well. Get to the hall of fame in a second but in looking at philip rivers his career. I thought he was a very very good player. I will remember. Most is the way the way he delivered the ball where he wound up and threw it as far as he could. And most of the time you thought it wasn't even going to get there. But it got there especially with antonio gates and it ended up in the end zone a lot. You talked about grouping people. Well i'm gonna group them as well. I'm going to group them with his draft class and draft class ally manning ben rothlisberger. They both dot to multiple super bowls. They both won super bowls. I feel badly for philip rivers in this regard to me. It's like charles barkley. It's everything but the ring because the statistics are certainly there. And i thought it was a very good quarterback. I'll take the hall of fame issue. I'll add another name dan marino. Who never won a super bowl if the comparables to marino and to moon and to fouts are rare. Then he's going to get in. I don't think they hold it against you. If you haven't won a super bowl there are people who've won. Two super bowls aren't in the hall of fame. You not room for a long ten years. Yeah do you think he would get in.

"In October defeated Green Bay. Kansas City one to advance to play Buffalo and you know, back in October, those two men and Kansas City beat them in what turned out to be a Monday afternoon game. It was delayed from a Thursday night. Today. Kansas City eliminated Cleveland 20 to 17 quarterback Patrick Mahomes left in the third quarter with a concussion. The Browns before halftime, fumbled into the end zone after the apparent illegal hit, not called. Can city turned that into a field goal? The chief missed an extra point that I missed the field goal attempt. Miss Mahomes there in the fourth quarter but did wind up winning the game 20 to 17. You guys were talking about the rule of fumble into the end zone. There was a dolphin's playoff game with Dan Marino in the mid nineties. Where now at least you can have replay to see If it was fumbled in back then, do you remember in the mid nineties NFL? There were a few years with no replay system at all. They had just tried it a few years and they said, Forget this. And then it came back like 96 or 97 something like that. So this Marino playoff game at San Diego against the Chargers. Chargers come back in the second half was started by 1/4 and goal Charger touchdown run that shouldn't have counted because on replay, the running back nature on mean fumbled it. Into the pylon, which is the same as fumbling it into the the playoff game. Was it It was a playoff in San Diego, 24. Nothing in that game with the Dolphins came back in that one with the hook and ladder When 13 8. I don't know that was early eighties, Dan found. I'm talking Stan Humphries there run to their only Super Bowl, and it wound up a charge or 22 21 victory because No, replied, Yeah, well, actually fitted that game there was that there was right after a ball with one and then charges tackling for a safety. And one point anyway, At least we have replay but you're right. We could go further.

"No, no. Who do you think has what do you think had a greater impact on the league? Dan Marino or Philip Rivers? Yeah. Dan Marino. Who do you think is better numbers? It's going to be Philip Rivers. Okay. Who do you think had a greater impact in the league? Troy Aikman or Philip Rivers? Yeah. Troy Aikman. What do you think is better numbers? Philip Rivers. Are we really doing this? We really gonna have this exercise now for the next 20 years of our lives, And that's when we go through the resumes of Matt Stafford, where Matt Stafford's never gonna win a freaking playoff game. He's never gonna win one. He's never ever gonna win a playoff game unless he like, you know, get saved and gets to go somewhere else. He's never gonna wanna play off game. But now I'm gonna have to hear about how Matt Stafford's numbers are so great and I'll Philip Rivers numbers are so great. The NFL is completely different today. People are throwing for 4000 yards on a whim. It's easy. No, I mean, I don't get to see it because my team sucks. But everywhere else in the league people are throwing for 4000 yards on a whim every year in five K in a year like Has any Hall of Famer head the year of Patrick Mahomes had The 50 touchdown year. Peyton who's going to get in this year? Brady? Yeah, that's what we're talking about. Full of privilege would be lucky in his sleep to ever every year like that. And this is really what we're talking about. This guy's a very good quarterback, Great competitors. Played his guts out. Every time is on the field. It matters to him. He cares. It's what we all want to see. It's very reminiscent of Frank Gore the same kind of player. But they're not Hall of Famers. They're just not. And there's nothing wrong with saying that this guy's not a Hall of Famer. It's not an insult. It's on a slap in the face to Philip Rivers. It's just ridiculous how we're going to go through this now for the rest of our lives because the NFL so drastically changed. Philip Rivers did not have the impact. In the NFL off people like Dan Marino, Troy Aikman or John Elway. He didn't have it, so he's not them. Move on. Yeah, this there's just so many other guys. I mean, this list is It's a great list of guys. Reggie Wayne, For example. Reggie Wayne is a Hall of Famer. I'm putting him in. There's no doubt like Reggie Wayne was amazing. He's all he's one of the best receivers of his time. I would put that guy in the Hall of Fame. That's an easy decision. Torry Holt I put in the Hall of Fame uh, Leroy Butler. I'd put Butler in the Hall of Fame. Not many safeties Aaron, but he was a great player. There's so many other guys at other positions that aren't glamour spots. Get them in, like, recognize those guys or the very least, if you're gonna put in all the quarterbacks like this, you gotta let more guys in. You have to allow more slots. If you're gonna just putting quarterbacks because their quarterbacks and they start for a long time. You're just gonna lock all these guys out for forever, And that doesn't do anything for anybody inducting guys into the Hall of Fame 40 years after they played doesn't do anything for anybody. It's sad how many times you see older guys that either just passed and now they get in because people feel bad that they missed the opportunity to do while they were alive. Or these. Some of these guys get in because they're on their deathbed. It's like, why did you make this guy if you if you're doing because you feel sorry, And you realize that you made him sit around for 50 years, then why did you put him in before? You know, like, Were you putting them in? Just because you feel sad about like, what are you doing here? Just let more people in if that's what it is. Just don't get it. I mean, the whole thing is, it's very confusing. So 855 to 1 to 42 7 now. Let's talk about the Baltimore Ravens here because they played the Titans today and that game. That's a monster of a game. I mean, that is that's a heck of a matchup. That is incredibly fun, right? You think of this story line where last year The Tennessee Titans go to the number one Baltimore Ravens. They see him in Baltimore. They punch him in the mouth early. And what is Baltimore do they panicked? It went down early, and they panicked, and they changed their father, their philosophy on offense, and they went from a running team to a passing team. Lamar wasn't able to hack it. They lost and for Baltimore. It's a lot of questions, because now it's two straight years of underwhelming playoff performances from Lamar Jackson. And now there's pressure on this one, right? That's that's naturally how it's going to go. Okay. He's because again, it's quarterbacks, right? It's all quarterback. So it's Lamar Jackson. And what does he do? And Kenny beat the Titans. And what does this say? About him as a player. I'll say this one. Guys ridiculously young. He's crazy, young. I mean, he's 1 22 23. Some guys haven't even stepped foot into the NFL at that age as a quarterback. And he's already now going to be in his third playoff game, and he's an M V P Like we're talking about an absurdly talented, successful guy. One of the most unique athletes we've ever seen. Play the most high profile position and toe look at a guy like that and get to this point where The story line of whether or not he's able to win games like this. I believe absolutely, that he is able to do it and he will figure it out. He's going to have a lot of chances over the years. What For this game. You know how much is it worth? Do you want to see him when Absolutely Yes, it's it's fun, And I'm a guy that likes the Titans and what they're about. I think they're very dangerous, but How far can Lamar Jackson go? Is is just he's a unique talent. I want to see what he does. He's the most fascinating thing out of all the players in that game. I love a J. Brown Derrick Henry, who had over 2000 yards. What you want to see what Lamar conduce you want to see how he continues to grow. Here's the problem. Baltimore Ravens are a running team by design. That's what they are. It's a lot of tight ends. They get all these different running backs, is it Mark Ingram is Agus Edwards is a JK Dobbins. Is it Lamar Jackson? Effectively? It's all these different guys who do they have it? Wide receiver. Not a lot. Right. It's you Don't look at the at the Ravens wide receivers to go, man. I can't wait till that guy's a free agent. Who Is Marty's Brown like that good thing of all of the great wide receivers in the NFL right now. I mean the top 15 has got to be just a complete murderer's row of ridiculously talented people. And none of them played for the Ravens. The best wide receivers a tight end. Mark Andrews is as good as he is. He's not Travis Kelsey, You know, he's not George Kittle. He's pretty good. He's a step or two below, but he's not super Super Elite. So when that's your best receiving option, and they've been able to be a successful as they've been. That is a credit like that is a credit to Lamar Jackson. And so for the Ravens, you need to see the defense hold against the Titans. Can they stop? Derrick Henry? Can they slow him down a guy that over the last couple of weeks?.

Philip Rivers Passes Dan Marino For Fifth Place On NFL's All-Time Passing Yards List
"38 years old. With a restart on his career. In Indianapolis, and as much as Philip Rivers is generally a wild ride, and he is I. I've called him a poor man spread far for years. He's a gun slinger. He's got different arm angles. Obviously, he's Confident guy, but he generally has a couple moments in each game where he gunslingers to the wrong team. He nearly had an interception in this game and had a couple of balls that were off the mark. But that's that's rears. I mean to be boring, if if it was steady right that wouldn't fit Philip Rivers. Well, like it or not. He is headed to the Hall of Fame when he retires. Every time I say this people get all fired up, but it's the truth. On Thursday night. He moved into Fourth place Now Excuse me, Fifth place all time on the NFL's Career passing list. Passing one Dan Marino. With 11 yard completion. This was early in the game. He only needed a handful of yards. To get past Dan Marino. And he was well over 300. He's now it's 61,666. That's a lot of sixes 61,666 for his career. And there are only four quarterbacks who have more passing yards in their careers than one Philip Rivers. You know all about Brett Farve. Peyton Manning. Tom Brady, Drew Brees. They're so playing, they're still bound to keep racking up more yards as his Philip Rivers. All for those guys. Either Hall of Famers or bound for the Hall of Fame. So his rivers now there's a big difference, obviously, because he has not won a Super Bowl and generally doesn't have that same success in the postseason. There's still time those of you who are Colts fans. You know, earlier this year I think it was weak three was definitely the first month he became Just the sixth quarterback in NFL history. To throw at least 400 touchdown passes. And he's likely so he's sitting in that six play spot right now he's likely to pass the in Rio before the season is up and work his way to the top five. So then he's in the top five all time and passing yards and all time in touchdown passes. Of course, he's going to the Hall of Fame.

You may have seen the reports that kind of sprinkling out over the last couple of weeks ever since he got the starting job, despite the fact that they were three and three in Fitzpatrick. Is a guy that really brings a lot of energy and great leadership. The reason they went to to, uh According to reports, it's because they want to know if they need to go back to the draft. And start looking at quarterbacks or to a can be the man moving forward and considering the number of times the Dolphins have been hit or miss on quarterback since, say, I don't know. Dan Marino retired. They want to make sure they've got the right guy. And so yes, there right in the mix in the A, F C and now are above 502nd place in the East Division ahead of the New England Patriots. When was the last time we said that? But they want to know if to Ah can be the face of their franchise or because they've got some high draft picks Houston being one of those right they had Houston's draft pick in 2020 and Houston's terrible Right now sitting on one win, and so it could be a really high draft pick. You have to bet right now. Bad Online. We'll hear about them in just a second go on Ben Online. Who Are you picking in the AFC right now? Well. Let's really break down the Patriots you know we're talking about. What's going to happen now that Brady's gone? How many! Hall of Famer Potential Hall of Famer and Hall of famers and Pro Bowlers. Have left the Patriots in the last two decades. Many men meant. Yes, that's all they do. All they do is turn over personnel or for the Sidebar to that is guys. Get thrown money by other by the other thirty one teams. I'll go hill. Replicate what he did in new, England is like no, no, there's some weird Voodoo that goes on up in Foxborough. That does not translate down the Tennessee or Texas or wherever else you're talking about right, so we're not talk. You know we're not talking about. What are the dolphins going to do without Dan Marino. Because they've changed show so much personnel on the offensive and defensive side of the ball over the last twenty years that if there's any team that is poised to turn over one guy now, he's the quarterback. Obviously, that's a super important job, but if anyone has proven that, they can swap one guy out for another guy, it's the Patriots. Of Foreign. Any other organization. And proof of that for any of the cynics out there, they're ignoring I know. It was a limited sample size, but Jimmy G. One every game he ever played Jacoby perset was was good as well when he had the takeover for Brady. Yeah, it's a and you know for what it's worth. Three BLEDSOE came in way back when at the start of the Millennium and beat the steelers in in Heinz field when Brady got hurt, so there's plenty of track record that you're going to be able to plug qb in there and succeed. It is interesting though that given the way Brady plays versus the way that same position and everything else. Else but wildly different way, but people say well how how CAM GONNA fit into that New England system. Have you watched the Patriots play? They don't do the same thing weekend week out. They always change it. They're obviously GONNA change what they do to accommodate number one now.

Beowulf Sheehan
"Hello everyone and welcome to frames. My name is Scott Olsen and I am talking today with Beowulf Sheehan. Beowulf is one of the most sought after most successful and I believe most important portrait photographers in New York. These days he has worked in more than fifty countries lectured at New York University and Yale among other places and if you go to his website you will see portrait of people like Oprah Winfrey Twenty Morrison Patti Smith Margaret Atwood Patrick Stewart in Kellyn Paul Simon and dozens and dozens of others. It is a body of work of which I am personally Quite envious good morning. Bill could he's got great to hear Your Voice. I do have a quick thought for you. I've not traveled to fifty countries the photograph I photographed in better than ten by way of commissions however I have photographed people from at least fifty countries and hopefully been able to travel to their worlds in cultures through those experiences. Okay I saw that on your resume and I was impressed and I'm still impressed. So tell me how things are in New York this morning. New York is a beautiful place this morning. The air is cool and crisp outside. I did have a short walk this morning. I am very fortunate that out my window. I have a cemetery so I get to see less trees and I have a great deal of quiet. What sounds I hear. Every morning in this new time of ours is usually One of two things that I hear all either your birdsong or I will hear the sound of a passing ambulance and of course happy to hear the former not to hear the ladder. That is the time in which we live summer mornings in New York. City yes Tell me about portrait photography but let let let's begin where people how in the world could you get into photography? How did you get into the kind of portraiture that you do specifically I into photography being a shy boy and wanting to make friends and prior to the thought of making friends? I wanted to be reacquainted with my father. My parents divorced when I was in elementary school. My father was out in my life for a few years and when he came back the beginning of my high school years he had a Konica thirty five millimeter camera. A Long Lens to go with it and when I arrived at high school which was a high school outside of my neighborhood I went to magnet high school for foreign languages. I was busted very early in the morning to get there. I was in the ethic minority in head a world of new friends to make and when I got to school my classmates were speaking about two things with which I was unfamiliar of the Miami Dolphins. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and girls and I knew very little about both but I had been working in the summers and not really spend that money on anything beyond books and comic book so I had enough money saved to become the youngest person in the history of the Miami Dolphins the buy season tickets to the Miami Dolphins. That's impressive I go So what I had done was than I began to use my father's camera and I would take a tripod that camera that long lens invite a new acquaintance from high school to eat game. And I believe my mother had driven been to us down To attend these games and no one ever stopped me. The guards were very kind. They recognize me after a few games. I always went through the same gate that sort of thing and was able to watch Dan Marino or the ball around and make pictures and then make Prince of those pictures and share them with classmates over time developing friendships and of course Getting to know my father again. That's a wonderful beginning there. Is I know an extraordinary event. Though in your early connection to reading and that's possible yes but but I'll let you lead that so when you're asking the extraordinary connection is well. Yeah you you are probably the only you are the only person I know who's ever been bitten by an alligator. Oh this is true this this. I don't know all the people in your life of course who you know but but I'm the only person I know who's been bitten by an alligator and that happened to me in the summer of nineteen seventy six in June of that year. I was of course on summer break from school quite small and my brother and I were playing in the backyard of the home of a friend of my mother in southwest Fort Lauderdale where there are canals and those canals in some cases feed than Their Way West to the Florida everglades and of course. That's where alligators hang out. And some of them sometimes get lost. My brother-in-law had been wrestling. This lady's backyard was time to come into the House for lunch. I had asked the Lady of the House. If we could use your host wash our feet persons they were full of dirt from the grass and the young lady had said no actually better just a spicer feed off the dock and then it'll be quicker and I went I. I remember sitting at the dock. Enjoying splash on my feet and looking at my brother and my brother's twenty months younger than me made his eyes get bigger and he looks down on my foot. I looked at my foot and I saw the alligator close. Its mouth around my right foot and I went to some degree of shock. The allegation let go. He caught the outside artery of my ankle and bloodshot out. Allah a bad money iphone sketch. And my my brother then began to grab my body to try to pull my body up and my mother and my mother's friend of course had come out of the house at this time and they were lifting me from the document onto the grass. The allegation had gone back under the dock. And I don't know how much more time passed or how much blood I lost but I then at some point found in the emergency room of a hospital where my brother was born. Only a few blocks away and doctors worked in saved my foot. Save my leg. There was concern for infection loss and I was very lucky to have for the balance of the summer. Have Gone to the hospital every day to get my foot. Epsom salts to save it and that meant of course not being able to play games at not being able to enjoy summer camp not being able to do sports do much of anything involved mobility and that deepened my reading and then with it of course my drawing and my reading and drawing through my childhood in and beyond began with comic books and then onto more challenging books More INTERESTING BOOKS. Maybe more interesting stuff. The right word say because books are wonderful. And they're very very interesting. Otherwise we wouldn't have these films adaptations of stories that now the masses is seen film but the the books of course comic books would come out once a month and it was great to go to seven eleven after school and pick up those books but I would devour them so quickly and then I really wasn't in the mood to wait another month for the next book to come out so I would just draw stories myself. The drawing worked its way over time of course into photography. But that's a longer compensation which I'm happy to have

Coronavirus pandemic expected to slow transition to clean energy
"Covert. Nineteen has shuddered. Major sectors of the global economy and renewable energy projects are not immune solar and wind. Projects are on hold. What does that mean for the green economy and for progress on Climate Change Dan Marino with inside? Climate News has been writing about that. Hi Dan how big picture I how renewable energy projects being impacted by cove. Nineteen the big picture. His that the supply side seems to be holding up. Okay meaning that projects can get the parts they need. But the demand side is in big trouble that refers to just the companies that are developing projects. They are running into financial difficulties. They're running into difficulties. Just getting workers to be able to do work. Let's talk about solar projects for a minute. it's been growing rapidly. We know over the last decade plus and the latest forecasts suggest maybe a reduction in new solar projects in twenty twenty. One was the last time that happened. This was supposed to be a big big year. For solar power now we can see global solar installations. Actually down this year. And there's really no precedent for that. What about wind is that the same picture went our any? Us and globally is probably going to be at a record high this year but the key point there relative to corona virus is that it's not going to be as big as we thought it would be a couple months ago. You wrote about offshore wind projects. Why are they in jeopardy? The US offshore wind dentistry barely exists. There's one project that has been completed in this country. It's a small one in Rhode Island in. There are a whole bunch of big projects in various phases of development or at this park with his whole new. Renewable energy industry is kind of coming into being and the delays and being able to have people work on projects is at a terrible time. Offshore wind is a really important part of the growth of renewable energy in the US because it allows the supply of renewable energy really close to east coast population centers. In if there's this big delay while this industry is still in its infancy anti us. It's something that is causing. A tremendous amount of heartburn throughout the industry. And what will you be for in the next few months? One of the big things to watch going forward is discussions about extending tax credits for noble energy projects that were scheduled either phase out or ramp down a bit at the end of this year. So much of what is putting pressure on them to do projects in twenty twenty. Is that the projects get more expensive after that because of tax credit implications. What does this mean for meeting Global Climate Change Goals going forward? There's a real danger that this sudden drop in emissions that we're seeing right now because this economy is just at a standstill will be followed by a rebound and a surge in admissions and it almost becomes lost time in terms of meeting emissions goals He also are taking a lot of attention away from political leaders who were otherwise going to spend a lot of time this year talking about their plans for reducing emissions We just had the announcement that a a U N conference that was critical for setting. Those plants is being delayed. The big issue here is that we're all focusing on this very immediate crisis while there's this kind of more slowly moving crisis of climate change that is kind of simultaneously still very much. There hasn't gone away. Dan guerrino with inside climate news. Thanks for sharing your insight on climate cass. Today thank you very much.

"Over a decade ago my Business Partner Hall of Fame Quarterback Warren Moon. I sat down to discuss. How can we stop? The labeling of black quarterbacks are dream was for some day they're not to be that description at all. I was blessed to sit down with Donovan. Mcnabb one of his men teas and proteges to discuss the status and progression of black quarterbacks in the NFL. This is entrepreneurs. The playbook hey I wanted to have a conversation about black quarterbacks and as you know it's been a big part of my career has warned being a client and then a partner of mine are dream. Ten years ago was that nobody would ever say black quarterback right but I think you know to this day that they don't use it as much but I see a hangover when I look at you not be in the hall of fame or the way that Warren's marketed because they don't want that story told about six years in Canada right right and then there's just an under Tony it's unintentional. It's like even with the metoo movement. Things go on aren't intentional. It's social development social. How can we help? Expediter accelerate people understanding the equality. That exists I you have to appreciate I don't think we're at a point where we appreciate the level of evolution. That's going on and I say that because he wanted to mention. Hey you know you were kind of guy that passed the torch in them like no. The torch was already late for Marlin Bristow Gilliam and dumb and James James Harris and those particular guys. It was then but it wasn't one that was accepted and then. I think when you mentioned the warnings and the Randall Donovan. Before I thought it was a warm place you played when you played but it was. It was kind of a it. Wasn't it wasn't appreciate and when? I say that you know it was the yard that Warren Password worn was Dan Marino. We'll be talking about how radio because his numbers are comparable today without the six years in candidate. But I I think what we're seeing now is. We're seeing people start to understand the level of talent ability. How cerebral these kids are. They can play from the pocket and their leaves. These are all things that when they mentioned about. You'll see that in in the list now and says it has it's literally presidential but but the thing is you have to be able to take a step back and say you know what these kids can play the quarterback position. And when you look at the collegiate ranks then more black quarterbacks in the collegiate good ones so again it goes back to happen understand. What the level we go through and give it to appreciate what we're seeing you know. I do allow entrepreneurs and I talked about patients who and the need to be offended or or resentful. And it's so interesting with all those guys that you talk to your mom. Briscoe someone that in California. We do a ton of work with for years trying to get that movie made by the way you know. It's a really good movie and a really good story but nobody's really resentful and angry or offended. How do you have the patience to wait for the reality to come about that? All the top quarterbacks are going to be evaluated by their talent. Well here we have old. School mentality shouts and tell you them telling evaluators who still have that. Well he's black quarterback what are we just evaluated his ability. How intelligent he is. The family background would become as he comes out. It's nothing else that you need to focus on focus on his color. You only public hair. You have to focus on how he wants. You know the the focus needs to be more of the position and that's what we're seeing we have. We have been after the American insult that people are afraid to talk about now. He will say well. We don't need talking about though. He's the third every America's worries. They play of great ones. The greatest african-american quarterback did win. The might. I've worked with before because the caregiver Steve but this could be an opportunity for a guy who people love is ability. Yeah and then. They want to question the thing about his character. What are you looking at? Are you looking more deep into trying to fight the negative or how good this really with? Doug flutie yeah who has a lot of similarities to a lot of running quarterback and I said if you were an African American would have been your chances even to play in the CFL for how old he is. He said there won't be a chance ever but stories like that people boss. Yeah well that's what I wanted in talking to people over and and it's important for us to focus on that because it's not gonNA stop. I mean we're looking at. We've looked at five afterward quarterback just in the playoffs alone. Yeah headed had a chance to have to play it in title game and then it's GonNa continue to grow where mean who's to say feels doesn't get drafted in the next year or two from Ohio state. Then I was talking about him. It's exciting right now. You've been one of those guys. They continue to grind the path. I'm on your team. As far as I'm Jay Hall of Famer right here. More people need to be aware of the issues that we're facing and this guy needs to be in the hall of fame and many others because we're building a pipeline hall of famers. It's a shame that Warren Moon American and I appreciate the respect. I love warranty. That's right I n there. I appreciate your insight and honesty thanksgiving.

"I four or five years we were on this big thing for four or five years. I kept hearing this argument. Era. Jurors goat Brady second or Brady one. Rodgers to greatest all time apparently Joe Montana. John Elway never existed. Peyton Manning never existed. I always said. You do get it. Like, Tom Brady's got a room in his house full of trophies. They're not that stupid argument. And then I had something I said something during the middle of this year. And I said the it was perceived as a hot take I said the eight best quarterbacks I've ever seen in my life. It's not just about Super Bowls. This is about talent playoffs records your impact to the league. Your impact in the city. What did you overcome? What did you play with the eight best quarterbacks? I've seen again. There's a lot of different. It's Peyton Manning. Tom Brady Joe Montana. Terry bradshaw. John elway. Dan marino. Aikman and breeze. Now. People said you're just saying Troy Aikman. Oh leadership playing hurt toughness dominating a great division. When Washington giant in Dallas pout, those eight best quarterbacks, but the one that got people worked up is drew Brees was a hot take. Was way Rogers, and I said he's right on the outside right next to Brett farve and Steve Young and maybe Dan Fouts. And isn't it interesting? Mr. I'm crazy hot take. Right. I was whoa. You're and I said, no, let's talk about impact to a city. Whereas Aaron Rodgers was given a championship roster a championship level head coach and championship momentum in front office. Drew Brees was given the Cleveland Browns with a port Katrina bountygate. One guy was given the laughing stock of the league that had one playoff win in the history of the franchise. The other player was given arguably the most iconic franchises in the NFL with championship level players. Great momentum terrific front office. Very good head coach. So that's not close. Also. Let's go through four or five things. If drew Brees wins this weekend and goes to the Super Bowl, and they are favored and most people like the saints. If drew Brees get to the Super Bowl. And if he does against Kansas City or New England that again going to be a field goal game. If drew Brees wins the Super Bowl. And again, they're favored at home this weekend to get their Super Bowl titles against Aaron check breeze. NFL records, not close check breeze impact on a franchise. Drew Brees folks is the saints. To Aaron Rodgers is arguably not the Packers best quarterback ever impact on the franchise is not close leadership qualities. I don't know. One guy has former teammates constantly calling him out one guy is revered where three hundred pound offensive lineman. Literally do we have the tape? This is what happened when an offensive lineman Zack street retired recently for the past eight years I've played in front of the most prolific passer in NFL history. Drew Brees has been the single greatest

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill throws rookie out of huddle for missed assignment
"But something else interesting, happened this, past week in the NFL Ryan tannehill of course coming back from the knee, surgery trying to get back there, and really this is a very important year. For him Mike. In terms of is developed to make sure. Yesterday to beat the dolphins quarterback going forward well there was an issue. At practice apparently and Ryan tannehill was going to have none of it and, none, of it being Kaelin ballots the rookie. Running back out of Arizona state yeah he basically the missed a blocking assignment resulted in a clean sac and so basically. He, jumped, on rookie get out of the huddle and jumped. On them explain, you know yell at him about the mistake, that he made in such listen. Not the first or last. Time something like that's going to happen but he's coach Adam gay said he, had no. Problem with taking a leadership role you know doing that and and. Trying to correct the rookie by one of the ways putting them out, of, the huddle but his. Coach, had no problem with it Gay. Said he was in. The right kind of making an example there when he does, things like, that for us for our offense
