"All about away. Bought away by the way. The miami dolphins got their guy. I just meant they got us. That dude is they got a guy young guy so let's put some. what are we talking about. Let's put the question. Then this way. And by the way i would say this right now to are coordinating producer. Pete mcconville and our producer. Allie grenade. i don't understand how we do not yet have a feature called jeff saturday. Who's high this week. I mean every week jeff. Hester name that's got to become a tuesday stable. Is this week. We make a segment out of everything on this show but markets very quickly. If the dolphins get forgetting about guam if the dolphins get to shawn watson are they the biggest threat to kansas city in the afc next year. Yeah they are. And i know i say that because i saw were buffalo did. But i'm taking the sean before. I take josh allen and their defense. I'm taking miami. Defense with the sean. Look the inspire football. You play when you have a guy at that position that you know you can't win wit. It takes it to a different level. I love how floor is coaching. But i do think that sometimes going in and out with fits magic and into mayor. Put this team in kabul unknown territory. About what their identity was offensively and the defense never had a question. About what their identity. Would you bring this on. You answer that question. That's our quarterback. Raise the level of play of everybody around you. Oh and yeah let me tell you why. Because he threw for the most yards went out of number one receive on team this year. That's how good he is. Listen this is a no brainer. I would love to see desha watson and josh allen go toe-to-toe for years to come in that division and see who can make it out and then get the kansas city potentially in the afc championship bottom line in miami. They've been trying to find the next dan marino for twenty years. They thought maybe you're still may have him into a tunga vilo but shawn watson is as much more. A known commodity will see if that plays out. Meanwhile quarterback rumors are everywhere including these that the eagles wanna move carson wentz. We know that. What kind of market are they. Finding darlington has the very latest. It could be very interesting. Plus lebron james having another mvp caliber season. You'll hear why jay williams thinks he should win the academy award as well. That's on the way this is get up on. Espn do you own. Read your home share. You and i bet it can be hard work. You know it's easy bundling policies with geico geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com. Get a quote and see how much you could save. Its gyco easy visit. Geico dot com. Today that's geico dot com on. We go get up. And another of the quarterback trade sagas continues this one involving that main carson wentz whom league sources believe is on the way out of philadelphia and the eagles may also explore options with his longtime tight. Ends zach ertz. Perhaps philly could include ertz in a wentz package to maximize trade value. Words has one year and eight point. Two five million dollars left on his contract it look. There's a whole lot of speculation in jeff darlington insider here. I'll start with you as to why no deal has been worked out with wentz yet and one of the ways that i look at it from afar is maybe eagles. Just overestimate what it is. People might be willing to give up for wentz at this point when you consider the contract that he has. It's essentially the same circumstance as jared goff in los angeles and the rams had to pay a team to take him off their hands. So is that how similar or those situations and could that be. What's holding this thing up. Well very possible. Greedy speaking with a source with the eagles who certainly understand everything. That's going on with this deal. And you know the one thing that he said. I said what's the holdup here in his answers february sixteenth. Today lear doesn't even start for another month by a bunch of exclamation points and there is something certainly to that. March nineteenth is the date that they'd have to decide on paying him. That ten million dollar rostov on this. This is the runway that they're working with now. Of course you do want to make sure that you make the most of your leverage multiple teams involved. You don't wanna lose one of those teams and then Maybe cost yourself some compensation from that other team but we can point out here that This this source also told me that there is no no trade clause in carson wentz deal so it doesn't really matter say he wants to go to the colts but they're getting more compensation from the bears. They could just send him to the bears. It wouldn't be a problem

"And the story is like the story is the greatest thing never happened. The person but the lame assed story ever. Zone. Three guy Eric in Orlando, Dan Marino, Lady newspaper Lady. Jim Rome, Robert Dinero guy Too much. Keep working the phones, Adam, let's get some phone calls up. 1 806 368686. Nobody's got a story. Mitzi has a story. Two years after he moved to Miami to play for the Dolphins, and it was a Sunday morning I was working a zey The caterer at the Miami Children's Hospital, where Dan Marino currently has a foundation down in Miami, Florida, and it was seven o'clock in the morning and I put 75 cents into the newspaper stand at the Miami Children's Hospital to get out a newspaper. So I'm leaning over and I'm getting the newspaper and I'm pulling it out, and I'm looking at the front page. Well, I have a friend who's standing behind me and she's coughing and she's trying to get my attention. But I didn't know that I didn't realize it. "They elected to go with Willie Gall with their 2nd 1st round pick Over. Dan Marino. Russell Wilson third round. The point Here is Don't make the mistake of passing great quarterbacks thinking that you have to get the offensive line fixed first. Yes, you have to support the quarterbacks with a good defense and good offensive line and good skill guys, But when you get the chance to draft the all time great quarterback Wrapped them and then build around him. Offense is repeatable in this league right now, defense isn't You can have a decent defense and sure you can make it to the playoffs with a defense that has many turnovers that the Bears had an 18 or as many sacks is they had then, but the evidence is in front of bears fans. That is not as repeatable a thing as quality offense. The Chiefs had bad defense is up until their playoff run last year, and even then, that defense was Fine. It was fine better now than it's ever been. Offense wins games in this league quarterbacks pull the trigger passing is more effective than running end of story You can you can, in fact, Win a lot of football games despite a bad offensive line. Despite a defense, it's fine despite even some weapons that aren't as good as the Chiefs. If you have all of those weapons you're you are the Chiefs. You have to have that quarterback. You have to have that guy. You just can't say. Well, we're good for now, and we gotta build this part. So we're passing on another guy on that list that I just mentioned you and black Adela, Remind me this. Please going forward. Wait. When I hear from a collar that I haven't heard from in a little bit. I gotta stop asking them where they've been because I've had. I'm all for two on that right now. It was It happened with Rachel. Who will be Indianapolis Colts' quarterback in 2021
"But we begin today with music that philip rivers is retiring after seventeen seasons in the nfl. Sixteen with the chargers and san diego and los angeles and this one season in indianapolis when he got to the playoffs rivers never got to the super bowl but he stands fifth all time in passing yards and touchdown passes and he started the final. Two hundred forty games of his career without interruption will now become a high school football coach in alabama. Like his dad. We'll how will you remember his career. Well tony we automatically in any sport. Now we began to group people right and we associate certain people with certain folks football. It's done by position you know in a way that is probably not in the other sports. But i think of warren moon and dan fouts guys who were prolific prolific players who had long runs and played almost every game and they had a piled up passing stats. Galore like rivers did but they didn't reach the super bowl and then about through no fault of their own. Their teams weren't good enough. They got close. Each of those three gentlemen got close. But didn't have the breakthrough to the super bowl and rivers the same way river sets himself apart because he ran his mouth a lot. Which i have done without and i tend to like trash talkers but i i am. I didn't take to that. But he was a prolific quarterback. Tony he will receive serious consideration for the hall of fame. You know. I mean fouts and moon that to me shapes the category. I don't know if you've got other names. You'd like to put in there as well. Get to the hall of fame in a second but in looking at philip rivers his career. I thought he was a very very good player. I will remember. Most is the way the way he delivered the ball where he wound up and threw it as far as he could. And most of the time you thought it wasn't even going to get there. But it got there especially with antonio gates and it ended up in the end zone a lot. You talked about grouping people. Well i'm gonna group them as well. I'm going to group them with his draft class and draft class ally manning ben rothlisberger. They both dot to multiple super bowls. They both won super bowls. I feel badly for philip rivers in this regard to me. It's like charles barkley. It's everything but the ring because the statistics are certainly there. And i thought it was a very good quarterback. I'll take the hall of fame issue. I'll add another name dan marino. Who never won a super bowl if the comparables to marino and to moon and to fouts are rare. Then he's going to get in. I don't think they hold it against you. If you haven't won a super bowl there are people who've won. Two super bowls aren't in the hall of fame. You not room for a long ten years. Yeah do you think he would get in.

"Football. Our goes 10 to 11 at 11 o'clock. It's big Alan Jo Jo. They got your Broncos game. They'll join those guys with the latest. What's going on with your Denver Broncos Countdown to kickoff hosted by Ryan Edwards, a cast of thousands Nude until again kick off at 205. After a couple weeks on the road, the Broncos back at home to host the Dolphins for the first time, really in a long time, and they don't host him very often. They don't really play these games very often. These two teams don't get together the Broncos three and six on the year, the Dolphins winners of five in a row six and three on the season three. You know, with rookie quarterback to a tongue Goodbye. Hello. We're gonna break it all down. We'll go behind enemy lines with my pal Adam Beastly covers dolphins for the Miami Herald. But 19 times. That's it in the history, these two proud franchise, that's all they got together. And how about this? I don't think you will realize is John knowing Dan Marino played 16 years. At the same time, I guess it overlapped and Marina played a little while longer Because he came in in 99 spoiled John Elway days They retired his number. September. 13th coming off UN embarrassing playoff loss When the Broncos won their second Super Bowl, John John's Day was ruined his Miami royalty If you will, Brian greasy, some the great Bob greasy lost to Dan Marino. But back to what I was saying Marino and Elway coming together in 83. Obviously, John picked early Dan picked late and their careers. Overlapped and were synonymous with each other in a lot of ways, they only played twice in the regular season. Their entire career, and Dan won both of those meetings, one of them 1985 in Denver. It was 30 to 26 Marino. 390 Yards, three TDs. Elway pretty pedestrian to 51 90 NOTTs. Then they go from 85 all the way until 98. Guns next the last regular season game Monday night football in Miami, the Broncos had already sewed up. Home field advantage throughout the playoffs actually took attendance and leading that game trial. Davis was chasing 2000 yards. No, he ultimately got there the following week, but Marino ends up going nuts. 3 55 yards four TD's 1 90. John just 151 yards to my aunties, no TV So in the two regular season games and Elway played against Marino It was nearly twice the output by My Dan on seven touchdowns against no touchdowns for John. Then in the lone playoff game. Just a couple weeks later, at Mile High, we all know 38 3. Done wouldn't great in that game, either, though he didn't have to be 14 and 2382 yards. Marino 143 Yards one TD two picks Terrell Davis again that was the MVP season 21. Carries 199 yards to scores. Rod Smith caught a touchdown. Derek Lavelle had an 11 year test round running that and we may remember Neil Smith at the end of the game 79 yard. Scooping score to make it 38 3 so three times in the Marino and Elway era twice in the regular season once In the playoffs. That was that was all they ever met despite being in the lead at the same time, because the way the schedules were set up, and they just they didn't meet in the years that each other went to the playoffs. The other one wasn't thereto Get in the way. Just, uh, kind of weird anomaly. Think about often. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning played against each other and how often we're going to see Patrick Holmes against all these Young stud cubes that that will see him against whether it's Lamar Jackson. Some people thought it might have been Baker Mayfield. Maybe it's to Shawn Watson go down, go down the list. But because of the way, they said the schedules of the first place teams play each other every year, so the Ravens and Chiefs Are already set to play each other next year anyway because of the schedule rotation, But Anyway, it Z pretty remarkable. Those guys just never never saw each other. Um and then the Broncos just one play. It often set off and they put him a couple years ago. Remember the Adam Gates Revenge game in South Florida 35 to 9 of them running up the score late things onside kick late If memory serves me, right, the Broncos prior to that in John Fox. There, 2014 I was Peyton Manning there. 1 39 36 here in Denver and then in O T in 2011. We remember that game in Miami. Tim Tebow with come back. I want to say a deep touchdown toe Daniel Fells diving across the front of the end zone and then a Matt Prater. Game winner, But we just don't see these teams very often. And who knows when we'll meet again? I guess if they end up with the same record, they'll start meeting with some frequency and we'll see a little more of to a tongue. Goodbye, Loa. But These teams aren't that evenly matched, at least statistically, and their records are mirror opposites. Again. Broncos three and six, Dolphin six and three. But the conversation all week here and Broncos country on top of the Four interceptions that drew lock through the five Turnovers when you factor in Dijon Hamilton's fumble, the 37 12 lost. The Raiders has been about the oblique strain and the bruised ribs that drew suffered. Turns out in that second quarter. He told us when you talk to us late in the week after he had returned to the practice field, and he just tried to battle through it, and it looks like it got worse. So every Friday we talked to Big Fangio on Colorado's Morning news. "And I'm actually gonna defend Philip Rivers here. As last night, he moved past Dan Marino on the old time passing yards list. And that does not mean he's a better quarterback. Then Dan Marino. We all know that would be an absurd statement. If I came on the air and said all because of the stats because he has more passing yards Now, then Dan Marino, that means that he's a better quarterback. That would be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Philip Rivers now as the fifth most passing yards in NFL history was 61,666 yards. Lot of sixes in that number. When you look at the all time passing list, he's for touchdowns. He's also top 10 as well. So how can you and I know this is an error now. Where it's offensive driven, and the numbers are Inflated to what they were in previous years. But how are you going to keep a guy out of the Hall of Fame? Who is fifth. All time in passing yards, and he six all time and passing touchdowns. Don't think of Move past Dan Marino this year. It could be possible. I think this is final season. That best He's gonna go to fifth. In passing touchdowns in NFL history He's currently at 408. And Dan Marino is that 4 20 So the cultures six and three. They're through 10 If my mental math is correct there because seven plus nine give me seven plus nine. I'm terrible at math can agree. What do you got? Seven plus nine would be 16. There you go. So is he going to get 14 more passing touchdowns to go past Dan Marino this year. It's not crazy. If you got seven games, it's possible. Regardless even if he doesn't He's currently six all time and passing touchdowns. And he's fifth all time and yards. How do you exclude that guy from the Hall of Fame? He may not get in on the first ballot. And I get his class. His draft class. Ben will get in. Eli Manning will get in. But Philip Rivers is the Hall of Fame quarterback. No, he hasn't had the postseason success. No, he lost to the Jets in the playoffs. I know. He had two performances up against the Patriots, one of the A, C L and the other one That was a team with that was 14 and two That was the 2000 and six season. And in that 2000 and six season They should have won that game. If Field goal kicker could make a kick. But more importantly, they picked off Brady and then Troy Brown popped out the football and it gave the Patriots life that game. I remembered for Shawn Merriman after the game. Lt was crying and we brought this up The lt when we talked about super LaDainian Tomlinson, That is not Lawrence Taylor. And but lt is the real lt is is Lawrence Taylor, But for people my age You're all too you think of the dating Tomlinson and I remember the dating Thomason's crying after that game to the media. It was like, Oh, the coach's class. Listen Bela Chick because he was annoyed that the Patriots players are walking off the field doing this, Shawn Merriman lights out dance. Here's my point of Philip Rivers. The guy is top five all time and passing yards. He is top six right now and passing touchdowns. He's a hall of Famer. You may not like him. You may be annoyed that the guy never curses on the football field. Yes, he is missing playoff success. Yes, he is missing a big fat ring on the finger. But just because you're not a Super Bowl winning quarterback, just because you've never appeared in the Super Bowl. Doesn't mean that you're not allowed to be in Canton, Ohio. I'm not someone that says, Put everyone in Canton, Ohio. I don't like when I When I'm on the fence about somebody usually say no, compared to yes, because that is a sacred place. Philip Rivers. How do you exclude a guy that stopped 10 and two very important categories? Philip Rivers will be Hall of Famer now for this year, and I think this is final season. He's got to make sure to not turn over the football and we saw what happened last night with that defense. When he doesn't turn over the football, they could go out there even when they're down to start the second half, and then go blow out. Divisional foe as we did see last night, which they did do up against the Tennessee Titans. It is exact help show on CBS Sports radio. "That you rely upon to, you know, be the tiebreaker like the M V p or an all pro Philip Rivers never made it all protein know that he never made an all pro made a pro Bowls but never made it all pro. Neither is Eli. Yes, but those air subjective at the end of the day. It's objected, but they're usually right there usually a good barometer. Your pick. If you're picking a quarterback and your say, Say, last season, you're picking a quarterback who's who's first team All pro. Is it Pat Mahomes? Or is it would've been Lazare? Is it Martin Lamar Jackson? And this year is it Is it is it been Roethlisberger's Josh Alan, just Alan or Tyler, Russell Wilson or, conversely, like, Who is it? It's subjective. It comes down to like a moment. But that moment and and decision making determines. Someone's legacy, especially when you start having these conversations. If they're good enough, you know, 10 15 time in many years down the line when they were tired, and that's That's the issue with Philip Rivers when it came to that moment to make that decision about him being amongst the elite with accolades with the hardware he never. He never was a part of the conversation. Again. I think he's a Hall of Famer. I just think it Z. He's going to be one of those guys that's waiting to get into the Hall of Fame because his peers and maybe just because he came in the league at the wrong time, His peers were so accomplished around him. There's they were playing, you know with him, and now some of them are still playing. You know, past him a little bit. I'll co sign that statement. I'm with you. I think we kind of stored differently, but we wind up on the same path. I think that that's well said before we get the update, let's at least hear from rivers. And this is a nice and he is very even though he's cocky, like he's combative. He's actually very humble on a really good guy. And I mean I like Rivers I love is his energy is tough. This is my love. I would love a quarterback like that. How could you not? He just doesn't care. He's like that. It's a fight. All right, let's go. Yeah, especially when he was playing on the grass in in San Diego, Always dirty. I'm a Big Rivers fan, but he did touch on this post game about what it means to pass the great Dan Marino. It's special, and you know those guys up there on that list. I don't know that I'm in their category and that's okay. But you know, Dan Marino was on my wall has a poster on my wall. It's all this specially thankful that here in 38. I'm still getting out here and compete. Play the game. I love good self awareness. Good stuff right there. Don't get me wrong, like Jim Brown where we were looking founded by that it put the guy in already. There are instances don't get me wrong, but I mean, baseball leads to, you know, epic meltdowns by some people in football. I think you have the numbers you eventually get in and Philip Rivers gonna get in. I think you're right. All right, Let's get the update from Bobby use or he's got to be pumped. Philip Rivers Passes Dan Marino For Fifth Place On NFL's All-Time Passing Yards List
"38 years old. With a restart on his career. In Indianapolis, and as much as Philip Rivers is generally a wild ride, and he is I. I've called him a poor man spread far for years. He's a gun slinger. He's got different arm angles. Obviously, he's Confident guy, but he generally has a couple moments in each game where he gunslingers to the wrong team. He nearly had an interception in this game and had a couple of balls that were off the mark. But that's that's rears. I mean to be boring, if if it was steady right that wouldn't fit Philip Rivers. Well, like it or not. He is headed to the Hall of Fame when he retires. Every time I say this people get all fired up, but it's the truth. On Thursday night. He moved into Fourth place Now Excuse me, Fifth place all time on the NFL's Career passing list. Passing one Dan Marino. With 11 yard completion. This was early in the game. He only needed a handful of yards. To get past Dan Marino. And he was well over 300. He's now it's 61,666. That's a lot of sixes 61,666 for his career. And there are only four quarterbacks who have more passing yards in their careers than one Philip Rivers. You know all about Brett Farve. Peyton Manning. Tom Brady, Drew Brees. They're so playing, they're still bound to keep racking up more yards as his Philip Rivers. All for those guys. Either Hall of Famers or bound for the Hall of Fame. So his rivers now there's a big difference, obviously, because he has not won a Super Bowl and generally doesn't have that same success in the postseason. There's still time those of you who are Colts fans. You know, earlier this year I think it was weak three was definitely the first month he became Just the sixth quarterback in NFL history. To throw at least 400 touchdown passes. And he's likely so he's sitting in that six play spot right now he's likely to pass the in Rio before the season is up and work his way to the top five. So then he's in the top five all time and passing yards and all time in touchdown passes. Of course, he's going to the Hall of Fame.

"Lamar Jackson to be in The company of Dan Marino. I guess the larger question is Can he have the longevity? Of a Dan Marino. Can we actually see him stay healthy with the way that he plays. Can he actually become a passer and not just a runner? Not just a dude whose exceptional on his feet But someone who can complain ball We had Zach Strief form last night. Former New Orleans Saints player. This man is now an analyst for the New Orleans Saints, and he actually spent the minute he spent some time talking about just guys like Drew Brees. You may not have the same physical capabilities, but they evolve. They utilize their full school sets. They utilize their brains. Just a cz, Muchas their arms and their legs. Lamar Jackson as exciting as he is, and I'm telling you about the winds that he got in early. Dan Marino is Lamar Jackson, eventually going to get over the hump. Is he going to improve as a passer? Was he just going to be someone who's just totally relying on his legs? How long does that last in the NFL before it takes someone solid hit to get his ass knocked out. Dan Marino had a solid career. We know the Superbowl escaped him. He had an opportunity early and didn't see another one all the way up. And so the end Dan Marino is one of the greatest of all time. Lamar Jackson all of these young quarterbacks, they might be stacking up the numbers. But can they actually stack of winds? It's no coincidence. That Pat Mahomes young quarterback. He's stacking up wins. He's utilizing his arm. It's no coincidence that are Russell Wilson with his longevity in the NFL. He's basically been an iron man. He's utilizing his arm. All of these guys can utilize their legs. But guess what? They're out there passing first. That's why we have someone like Cam Newton, who's going to take on Lamar Jackson here at 31 years old. People have legitimate questions about Cam Newton and his durability. Can Cam Newton last people were calling me last week telling me that Cam Newton is washed up? Probably wouldn't be having those conversations if this guy didn't take a beating over the past several years. A messed up shoulder. Ah, bum foot. Just being repaired, surgically repaired, not having the same type of art. Plan in this league comes with a cost, not everybody's going to be able to do it. Someone who has been able to do it. 43 year old Tom Brady. And even at 43 years old, this man is still being picked apart even by his own coach. You're gonna.
Ravens set NFL record for 20-point games with win in Indy
"Baltimore shut out Indianapolis in the second half for twenty four to ten win the ravens had just fifty five yards of total offense over the first two quarters but came out in the second half with seventeen unanswered points riven quarterback Lamar Jackson was impressed with the comeback we always hear about it like in a prison stuff like that but we never came back and stuff like that so this is good I guess you know when we win every game we don't want to be on during the game but it is what is Jim updated news pretty good shows up when a teammate of Jackson who had a hundred seventy passing and fifty eight rushing yards is now tied with hall of Famer Dan Marino for the best start by an NFL quarterback after thirty games at twenty five and five Tom McCabe Indianapolis

"I just wanted to pick your brain. Ah, lifelong football fan. I've watched Dan Marino and John Elway and Jim Kelly and whatnot. Um am I out of my depth. By saying that Aaron Rodgers might be the greatest quarterback I've ever seen. Isn't isn't a crazy notion. Mike. The guy's really good and you know what's crazy about it is he makes it look easy, like he's so smooth. At the way he plays the position that it looks like the way Randy Moss used to play wide receiver. You never realize how good they were because they made it look so easy on tape. But Mike, There's no question that Aaron Rodgers is in a spot right now. Where he seems to have good kids met with the coach. I think that's important and we know that air Rogers could be a little mercurial. A man. A guy is good God, is he good? And I know he went up against a beat up 40 Niners Bunch, but the way he was able to carve them up. The efficiency with which he runs this offense. The confidence with which he runs this offense is just amazing. It really is fresh. Now I'll go ahead. You know, you can't be considered one of the greats of all time. If you have a CZ many Super Bowl M V P s is Joe Flacco. I think the argument ends right there now. Ah. That's pretty funny, man. Look, I think I I would like to think That we have now gotten away from the old tired narrative of well. The way to separate quarterbacks is whether they want to Super Bowl or not, because I think we've come to learn. Just like everything else. Teams win Championships. Why LeBron James is the best player on the planet right now in the N B. A. And when he shows up, you're a championship. Can tender You're not the favorite necessarily to win the championship. If there isn't a Batman to Ara Robin to that Batman, then you can start to look at it and say All right, then the Lakers are the favorite because it's more than just a little bit like even the great LeBron James. Was on ly able to drag one of those Cleveland teams to the MBA finals. There really shouldn't have been there, and that was when they went and played San Antonio and got smoked. That's where LeBron literally put that team on his back. They beat the Pistons. I think in the Eastern Conference finals that year, and then I'm making the N B a finals and get killed by San Antonio because there's only so much, one great player Khun Dio, You know, I've said that Tom Brady. I think we'll have a LeBron James effect on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And I still don't think that's going to happen. But if the football team is fatally flawed, it didn't matter how good Tom Brady plays. They ain't going to get there in the end, so I would like to think that we've sort of moved on. From this lazy narrative that pier Well, What about rings? Well, Terry Bradshaw's Got four. Yeah, but they're the defense. But if your thing is about rings, Terry Bradshaw's got four of them. How come he isn't in there? Well, look at the era that he played. Dude, if your argument is weak, and it's about rings that Ahmad you know the royal, You know, I'm not yelling at you. But you understand what I mean. Is it? You get into an argument with some of these people, and all they want to do is 0.2 rings. But the next time someone does that, in conversation, hit them with this. Is Matt Light of the New England Patriots, the greatest left tackle of all time because he was a part of five Super Bowls of 13 of them. Because if the rings really matter a quarterback then then maybe Robert Orie is one of the greatest n ba players of all time because he's got what seven championship rings aggression, but but Robert or has never been all MBA. Brady's a three time MVP. No, I understand that and I say that kind of flippantly because The ring argument is flawed and and short sighted. Quite honestly, It's a big part of the equation, though, Gresh it is part of the equation, but look ship if you're going to tell me Brady Rodgers Brees and that the difference between the free is automatic. Brady because he's got six rings and the other guys don't that's a completely flawed a ridiculous argument. And that's where a lot of people go to whenever we you know, again, LeBrock boy that LeBron He can't be this because some, it's like Brady can be the greatest ever because Montana was perfect in Super Bowls, and no one can ever say LeBron's the best ever because Michael Jordan was perfect in MBA finals, and they're not apples to apples comparisons. And that's where people make the mistake and again. It's all about championships. Then then it's Charles Haley, the greatest defensive player that ever lived because he's got five cerebral rings. Yo, I guess Scott Williams there A ship must be one of the best big men ever because that guy's get rings on his finger. Well, Brady's got more VPs in the regular season and breeze in Roger's combined, Gresh. No, I understand. I D'oh but again under the ring argument, right? Which people lazily go to especially what quarterbacks? Uh it just gets my goat because it's people who have a completely thought it through, or people who don't have the ability to use deductive reasoning like you were doing. To be like, Okay, let's parse through this here a little bit. But there is no question that I still the Garen Rogers has four great high end years of football left in him. He's already put together a Hall of Fame career. We roll into the final hour. I see Cleveland, Chicago and you ate 5 to 1 to four CBS texting and rolls you into re occurring automated text messages, message and data rates.

"It always seems like he can find the bright side always seems like he can find a reason to smile or reason to be optimistic. And considering what they last year of his football career has been like the last year of his life dominated by rehab from a devastating hip injury, And here he is. Thrown into the fire after the Dolphins by week, making his first career NFL start. And while he does have his first career NFL fumble, say hello to Aaron Donald, you also hear his first career touchdown pass on the Dolphins radio network. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio, We will look into his numbers here a little bit more about this rookie quarterback. Who they've thrown out there in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick to figure out if they have Their franchise. Q. B. You may have seen the reports that kind of sprinkling out over the last couple of weeks ever since he got the starting job, despite the fact that they were three and three in Fitzpatrick. Is a guy that really brings a lot of energy and great leadership. The reason they went to to, uh According to reports, it's because they want to know if they need to go back to the draft. And start looking at quarterbacks or to a can be the man moving forward and considering the number of times the Dolphins have been hit or miss on quarterback since, say, I don't know. Dan Marino retired. They want to make sure they've got the right guy. And so yes, there right in the mix in the A, F C and now are above 502nd place in the East Division ahead of the New England Patriots. When was the last time we said that? But they want to know if to Ah can be the face of their franchise or because they've got some high draft picks Houston being one of those right they had Houston's draft pick in 2020 and Houston's terrible Right now sitting on one win, and so it could be a really high draft pick. So they want to know is to Ah going to be the solution at quarterback, or do we need to keep looking? It's

So was me lying about it Since it was clearly May who came over that name that history riel now erased for good. That's the beauty of sports and the power of the kind of talent Kershaw has always had. If and when, And he did. You can flex it in the kind of moments we saw in this World Series. We'll hit that and just talk about whether you like it or you don't. Whether players like it or don't they don't championships change everything. Four greats. Don't have one. You don't exist in that conversation. Ask Rome alone. I mean, when we talk about the homes and Brady and Montana, does anyone really bring up Dan Marino with any frequency anymore? Time moves on if you don't have a championship toe anchor yourself. So the game's greatest moments and players will hit that. We'll talk about Ella be in the city of champions try to sneak in some Trevor Laurence mania, some silliness. Everyone's over reacting that who can blame anybody for reading the tea leaves when it looks like they say jets in there? Jax is part of my future, right? Overreact to Tom to Benedetto, the executive producer. Producer. Underscore Tom Andrew Bo Gish. Super John Scolds fan at Andrew. Bogus on Twitter. I am Bill Ryder, sportswriter Sports ar e t R, as always, 855 to 1 to four, CBS. All right, so Because it's 2020 and nothing beautiful can arrive without something ugly. Nothing remarkable can exist for long without something. Dispiriting. We're going to break the big stories of the World Series into two different segments. I just don't want to talk about Justin Turner and Cove it for the 1st 10 or 15 minutes, the show. We will do that in 15 or 20 minutes, not going to ignore it. Not going to ignore a player testing positive for Cove it in the final game of the world Siri's than running out of the field and celebrating at times this mask off aware of it, I get it. It's important. We're going to hit it first. We're going to talk to baseball. That wass A classic brewing. It really was. That was the kind of October baseball game the electric pitching and the nerves that are starting to become so pronounced. You can feel them. All the way across the country here in l, A and hopefully where you were. Blake Snell, former Cy Young Award winner was dealing man. He was locked in. And if you want to call, and I see you calling 855 to 1 to four, CBS will get your calls. Look, John Smaltz. Whatever people on this show may say about small Fry likes, multi said something that I thought was Absolutely on point yesterday and it turned out like all great Analysts color analyst in their respective sports, It turned out to be prophetic was only in the second or third date. If memory serves when small sea talking to America. Talking to Joe Buck said about Snell. When you get locked in like that, and I think, Buck even Canada go far and small. Double down, he said. When you get locked in, like, like we were seeing Blakes now for Tampa Bay. It feels like you're up seven to nothing. Doesn't matter. You're only up a run or whatever the case may be, and it was around for most of that game. It feels like more and in the moment I can understand why those of you that are not Andrew. Bogus votes. Fans might have thought It was a massive over reaction. Exaggeration, but you saw the game went on. That snail is in such a place that that singular run that Tampa Bay put out there in that first inning. It felt like enough and what's amazing about the Snell game and would have gotten lost and really maybe has been lost in the avalanche of emotion and mistakes and controversy that found its way in the last unit to the final World Series game. As the Dodgers crown themselves. World Series champions for the first time in a generation is that the Tony Gosselin bullpen game for the Dodgers worked Amazingly well, and Gonsouland didn't even make it to Indians gave up that homer. Got it screwed on fairly tied after that, And by the time the Dodgers got to Julio Aureus, whose stuff is so nasty They had gone through six pitchers. With a single earned run. That is impressive stuff. But it didn't feel like it was going to matter because Blake Snell was there. And he was in that mesmerizing moment. And these are the moments that make sport so incredible. In baseball's case, it often is was pictures because obviously a hitter comes up every nine at bats. But the picture's out there for the entire year. Of their half of the inning. And he dominated his stuff was so incredible. You could feel that wherever you were sitting on your respective living rooms. I certainly couldn't Ella You could feel the tension in Los Angeles. I had so many guys, either, buddy. Who's a like smart guy. Rational guy. No sports. You wrote me And I think the fifth inning as Snell went out there, he might have just gotten that final out turned out of his outing. He went five in the third. And my buddy wrote, This is ridiculous. Typical Dodgers Can't believe I was 21 strikeouts and I said, my couch, maybe set a record 20 strikeouts already and the means of my brain. I'm not going mad, but my brain goes to wait Is there only been like 19 batters 15 Times three plus one is okayed 16th lesson that not going mad, but it can't be 21. I literally like I'm watching the whole game of paid attention. I'm even taken notes on the radio show. I went to the box score. That's how rattled all of l A wass. There were phantom strike outs that were just happening in our imaginations that had people lose. I have to write the guy bag right? Didn't hear back from him. No people where I live. Don't like to be corrected all these ALF of success stories. Hey, man, He's got nine strikeouts, but Oh, you guys just got a patient or things were looking up. Nothing. Nothing. And things were looking up. As it turns out, Kevin Cash He's an ideologue, and this is the thing about ideologues. They are either.
Boston - Patriots’ Cam Newton Signing Made Official
"Dea think that Cam Newton on the New England patriots when everybody for the last few months or so have simultaneously thrown dirt on the Patriots and elevated the Buffalo Bills. Do you think the. You have to bet right now. Bad Online. We'll hear about them in just a second go on Ben Online. Who Are you picking in the AFC right now? Well. Let's really break down the Patriots you know we're talking about. What's going to happen now that Brady's gone? How many! Hall of Famer Potential Hall of Famer and Hall of famers and Pro Bowlers. Have left the Patriots in the last two decades. Many men meant. Yes, that's all they do. All they do is turn over personnel or for the Sidebar to that is guys. Get thrown money by other by the other thirty one teams. I'll go hill. Replicate what he did in new, England is like no, no, there's some weird Voodoo that goes on up in Foxborough. That does not translate down the Tennessee or Texas or wherever else you're talking about right, so we're not talk. You know we're not talking about. What are the dolphins going to do without Dan Marino. Because they've changed show so much personnel on the offensive and defensive side of the ball over the last twenty years that if there's any team that is poised to turn over one guy now, he's the quarterback. Obviously, that's a super important job, but if anyone has proven that, they can swap one guy out for another guy, it's the Patriots. Of Foreign. Any other organization. And proof of that for any of the cynics out there, they're ignoring I know. It was a limited sample size, but Jimmy G. One every game he ever played Jacoby perset was was good as well when he had the takeover for Brady. Yeah, it's a and you know for what it's worth. Three BLEDSOE came in way back when at the start of the Millennium and beat the steelers in in Heinz field when Brady got hurt, so there's plenty of track record that you're going to be able to plug qb in there and succeed. It is interesting though that given the way Brady plays versus the way that same position and everything else. Else but wildly different way, but people say well how how CAM GONNA fit into that New England system. Have you watched the Patriots play? They don't do the same thing weekend week out. They always change it. They're obviously GONNA change what they do to accommodate number one now.
"Hello everyone and welcome to frames. My name is Scott Olsen and I am talking today with Beowulf Sheehan. Beowulf is one of the most sought after most successful and I believe most important portrait photographers in New York. These days he has worked in more than fifty countries lectured at New York University and Yale among other places and if you go to his website you will see portrait of people like Oprah Winfrey Twenty Morrison Patti Smith Margaret Atwood Patrick Stewart in Kellyn Paul Simon and dozens and dozens of others. It is a body of work of which I am personally Quite envious good morning. Bill could he's got great to hear Your Voice. I do have a quick thought for you. I've not traveled to fifty countries the photograph I photographed in better than ten by way of commissions however I have photographed people from at least fifty countries and hopefully been able to travel to their worlds in cultures through those experiences. Okay I saw that on your resume and I was impressed and I'm still impressed. So tell me how things are in New York this morning. New York is a beautiful place this morning. The air is cool and crisp outside. I did have a short walk this morning. I am very fortunate that out my window. I have a cemetery so I get to see less trees and I have a great deal of quiet. What sounds I hear. Every morning in this new time of ours is usually One of two things that I hear all either your birdsong or I will hear the sound of a passing ambulance and of course happy to hear the former not to hear the ladder. That is the time in which we live summer mornings in New York. City yes Tell me about portrait photography but let let let's begin where people how in the world could you get into photography? How did you get into the kind of portraiture that you do specifically I into photography being a shy boy and wanting to make friends and prior to the thought of making friends? I wanted to be reacquainted with my father. My parents divorced when I was in elementary school. My father was out in my life for a few years and when he came back the beginning of my high school years he had a Konica thirty five millimeter camera. A Long Lens to go with it and when I arrived at high school which was a high school outside of my neighborhood I went to magnet high school for foreign languages. I was busted very early in the morning to get there. I was in the ethic minority in head a world of new friends to make and when I got to school my classmates were speaking about two things with which I was unfamiliar of the Miami Dolphins. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and girls and I knew very little about both but I had been working in the summers and not really spend that money on anything beyond books and comic book so I had enough money saved to become the youngest person in the history of the Miami Dolphins the buy season tickets to the Miami Dolphins. That's impressive I go So what I had done was than I began to use my father's camera and I would take a tripod that camera that long lens invite a new acquaintance from high school to eat game. And I believe my mother had driven been to us down To attend these games and no one ever stopped me. The guards were very kind. They recognize me after a few games. I always went through the same gate that sort of thing and was able to watch Dan Marino or the ball around and make pictures and then make Prince of those pictures and share them with classmates over time developing friendships and of course Getting to know my father again. That's a wonderful beginning there. Is I know an extraordinary event. Though in your early connection to reading and that's possible yes but but I'll let you lead that so when you're asking the extraordinary connection is well. Yeah you you are probably the only you are the only person I know who's ever been bitten by an alligator. Oh this is true this this. I don't know all the people in your life of course who you know but but I'm the only person I know who's been bitten by an alligator and that happened to me in the summer of nineteen seventy six in June of that year. I was of course on summer break from school quite small and my brother and I were playing in the backyard of the home of a friend of my mother in southwest Fort Lauderdale where there are canals and those canals in some cases feed than Their Way West to the Florida everglades and of course. That's where alligators hang out. And some of them sometimes get lost. My brother-in-law had been wrestling. This lady's backyard was time to come into the House for lunch. I had asked the Lady of the House. If we could use your host wash our feet persons they were full of dirt from the grass and the young lady had said no actually better just a spicer feed off the dock and then it'll be quicker and I went I. I remember sitting at the dock. Enjoying splash on my feet and looking at my brother and my brother's twenty months younger than me made his eyes get bigger and he looks down on my foot. I looked at my foot and I saw the alligator close. Its mouth around my right foot and I went to some degree of shock. The allegation let go. He caught the outside artery of my ankle and bloodshot out. Allah a bad money iphone sketch. And my my brother then began to grab my body to try to pull my body up and my mother and my mother's friend of course had come out of the house at this time and they were lifting me from the document onto the grass. The allegation had gone back under the dock. And I don't know how much more time passed or how much blood I lost but I then at some point found in the emergency room of a hospital where my brother was born. Only a few blocks away and doctors worked in saved my foot. Save my leg. There was concern for infection loss and I was very lucky to have for the balance of the summer. Have Gone to the hospital every day to get my foot. Epsom salts to save it and that meant of course not being able to play games at not being able to enjoy summer camp not being able to do sports do much of anything involved mobility and that deepened my reading and then with it of course my drawing and my reading and drawing through my childhood in and beyond began with comic books and then onto more challenging books More INTERESTING BOOKS. Maybe more interesting stuff. The right word say because books are wonderful. And they're very very interesting. Otherwise we wouldn't have these films adaptations of stories that now the masses is seen film but the the books of course comic books would come out once a month and it was great to go to seven eleven after school and pick up those books but I would devour them so quickly and then I really wasn't in the mood to wait another month for the next book to come out so I would just draw stories myself. The drawing worked its way over time of course into photography. But that's a longer compensation which I'm happy to have

cars so I'm saying which quarterback then you do you think feels more some type of way about what's happening because well I think Carson Wentz because he's going to get taken off the field Jackson to sign his deal and never get taken off the field Hey Andy we have a package for you're going to have jacket off the field that's not going to happen I completely disagree right now Jack Prescott dak Prescott you've gone through this song and dance for well over a year with this organization watching sign everyone and now they're even going to sign their backup before they make out or if you send me that means nothing to me I I don't I don't know how you can say one guy is affected by the premise of them bringing someone is affected because Carson Wentz will be off the field at times we'll tell you about the first health is at least being invested into by his team the Dallas Cowboys dot in and they're going to we did talk about that for you a human being in that setting this organization has not yet put pen to paper and invested in they haven't agreed on a deal deals take a long time listen I'm not saying that's happy I'm not saying that but the bottom line to me is Jack is gonna get signed and Jack is never going to leave the field first player first quarterback in franchise history to be if the franchise tax board general night ESPN radio the NFL we'll be taking the wraps off its schedule this week the twenty twenty regular season schedule is set to be released Thursday but the NFL will may need to change course at some point and depart from the schedule that they'll be releasing due to the corona virus pandemic is how real the possibility is that ESPN insider Jeff Darlington for the NFL if there is really any good news is that this is happening at a time when they will eventually go into a little bit of what is an annual dark period now generally speaking the offseason program lasts until about mid June last year for instance the mandatory mini camp that concluded the offseason program was June thirteenth and then everything pretty much goes dark until training camp opens last year it opened from rookies in Baltimore July seventeenth so there was a monster so what happens in that time basically sits back and starts to monitor things I was speaking with one of the sources told me that they will look at any and all models to get ideas about how they can proceed here will be monitoring for instance I'm told the Korean baseball league to see how things go there but football facing before more complicated situation what we're talking about man to man combat we're talking about bodies flying around all over each other so this is a little different than baseball to the NFL's credit they're trying to really put a wide spanning up to figure out any way that they can start football on time right that with training camp set to begin mid late July dimension Hey what happens if that gets delayed for any reason especially considering the schedules coming out in two days right now of course the NFL can still cancel some of training camp and start the regular season on time well we saw when the lockdown occurred in twenty eleven they ended up being able to start training camp on time there were contingency plans in place and that if it did lead into a training camp or they did not get a new CBA that they would still be willing to start the season on time with an abbreviated training camp that plan was in place that certainly could be the case again this year so again I was told good news but but certainly from the NFL's perspective they're in a better spot than a lot of other sports in the sense that they do have a little bit of a window to monitor exactly how they'll proceed with the season moving forward and then in terms of if there is a season this fall how will it look especially for something like the Browns Odell Beckham junior saying this to be a breakout season for him and the Browns earlier around the home I agree with Joe Thomas particularly with Baker because the shot apart comes as much with the only get to talk if you show up and he hasn't recently I'm more interested in LBJ because the way his season went last year I think we would have heard about all these injuries I'm not accusing them of not being real I'm just curious as to why when he was struggling or wasn't performing the way we expected we didn't hear this as the reason why until now I'd be very interested to hear what whether that was his decision the team back you buy or sell these bold brown proclamations well I'm going to sell them because they're both somewhat self evident to me Odell Beckham these injuries sounded pretty serious so if in fact that's what was going on with him then fine come back let's see what you can do and Baker Mayfield I just feel like every time we're saying Hey man time for you to do so no news there I guess all the buy or sell these brown on top I want to get a comment from Alain before I say anything here's a you know the thing about Odell just go out and play you know you do you do too much talking Jerry rice and talk about having a great season you just would go out and do it but last year this puts a lot of pressure on Baker Mayfield then he only completed four touchdown passes to Odell Odell is true only get seventy four catches in a season and as for this being a make or break season for Baker Mayfield with patients I mean I I understand what Joe's saying about this the make or break year but I don't agree with that I think if you have a recipe for how to develop a quarterback for head coaches in three years if you include great way of that little spent is not the way to do it and so I think and repair the new GM the fans get a new head coach they understand this is going to be a work in progress although this and all the weapons that you Joe was talking about you have to be active be able to execute you have to understand the offense view details you have to understand that whole process is going to take time even putting in new offense of lime it's all going to be a work in progress I don't think this team hits its stride until middle of the season if everything starts on time so as you're looking at this I don't I I think quarterbacks get way too much credit when they win a way too much credit when they lose that's all we ever want to focus on but the reality is this organization as a whole hasn't done a great job of making sure the right people the right infrastructure is around this quarterback they drafted to be their future give him some time to let all of them including and you're very the new GM developed together ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday so we'll we'll see what those spring holds for the NFL including the schedule that we will be released on Thursday the NFL planning for a fall season but they do have contingency plans that have been discussed as well if the NBA returns have things been smoothed over in Utah sports are only continues he has been radio the New England has come to a close what it all your existence just this morning on ESPN radio seven straight talk even though most live sports run hold now big wireless companies haven't stopped playing games they're always trying to lock you in overpriced contracts with.

"Twenty NFL draft Miami Dolphins select Alabama I mean I can laugh now because the first couple times I said on the air I had rehearsed in my brain so many times to get it didn't come out of it I'm sure to what is used to it but first year here Miami native Rick Ross on his Instagram rich forever he's he's a rapper we're gonna have to cut that drop it over and over and over again and then you hear Roger Goodell who nearly makes it throw it till the very last syllable but he gets a little bit wrong and you get this kind of money sneaky small from him I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose though right after hours here on CBS sports radio and will tackle the old I'm sure it's not the weirdest name the weirdest way his name has ever been anyway so it Miami is certainly excited lots of fans looking at this now is finally the the replacement for Dan Marino after all these years right and so too I get selected we told you he is the first Alabama quarterback selected in the top five since Joe name in the nineteen sixty five that was before it was even in the NFL that with the AFL draft for Joe Nemeth but there are other other stats that I couldn't share with you that kinda indicates how long it's been so the dolphins select Cuba at number five Miami has the longest active QB pro bowl drought in the NFL okay so they have not had a quarterback go to the Pro Bowl which is not the same as all pro but it's still it's an honor it means your among the best in the NFL that fees and they've not had a quarterback said to the Pro Bowl since Dan Marino in nineteen ninety five hall of Famer Dan Marino the last dolphins QB to make a pro ball twenty five years ago and who knows if to end up in the Pro Bowl but there should be excitement around him because this is something special finally they finally have their franchise QB and they didn't even have to take for him although this is a fun nerd alert for those of you who are southpaws to us is the first left handed quarterback drafted said Sean Keane field in the seventh round of two thousand ten so it's been a decade and can't feel was dropped in the seventh round there were one hundred six quarterbacks drafted in between those two lefties each I'm telling you what there is a lot of hope riding on to a he ends it wasn't that long ago that he suffered a devastating hip injury and there were questions about whether or not he would even be able to play football again all manner I would say it's been it is very disappointing you know not being able to accomplish what you know I I hope to accomplish for our team and what we all wanted to accomplish as a team this year but you know I I tell you what a lot of these things are have worked out for for for the better and it really goes back to Sturgis like my entire family we've been really blessed on throughout this process two I and his parents were sitting on the couch it was more like a love seat in the front row and then it I think those were his siblings who were behind him in the back row up only five people in their main room so they probably get an a plus in terms of keeping your distance but I don't even care I love the fact that so many of these homes had family members and friends stashed in other rooms when they were on camera but you could hear them and then every now and then you'd see them kind of pop it out or walk in behind them and so I thought that was funny this is a really big moment it's a dream come true and so many people poured into these young men to get them to where they are now it's never a journey that was that was undertaken or journey that was accomplished by the individual himself and so I understand why it's hard to turn people away right I mean it's it's a it's an incredible moment where dreams come true and where there's relief and there's joy there's excitement energy Fauria but there's also tears and there's there's missing the people that are not along with you one one really emotional prospect was the the center since our Ruiz of Michigan when he was selected and I he was on the phone even before his name was announced on TV he was on the phone and I was getting a call about joining the New Orleans Saints is with the twenty fourth pick and he collapses into sobs I mean his his family's all excited his mom is robin is back in and he's just he's on the couch fall inside out and died that that a motion that raw emotion that always it's something that I remember but he lost his dad in a car accident when he was eight years old so imagine what that family has been through his mom is a single mom him not having that dad that you love so much and and now this moment where he's made it he's made he's a first round draft pick to the New Orleans Saints and and you have the joy but you also have the sorrow and and that paying that void because your your loved one is not there so there was all of that that we look for in the first round well in in any round of the NFL draft but again Bravo to the league for the way that really this came off without a hitch it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on Facebook on Twitter after our CBS here's a tweet brilliant execution very well done much easier to watch than expected so happy for to and his family some of you are responding about Kliff Kingsbury's living room not really sure Kevin says it looks like the show room for the fireplace you'd see in a mall minus the people and the other still Judith says I like the virtual drive best with all the personal stories and reactions I hope it stays that way even when sports are live again I never kept it on more than an hour before interesting now Judith you aren't alone I've seen other people say they actually enjoy this broadcast more and I'm glad that you liked it I wonder though if people were so starved for any type of live sporting event that they would have taken anything but also we set the bar low I think and to be pleasantly surprised the way that we were that was also maybe that was definitely a theme that I saw on social media all right eight five five two one two for CBS eight five five two one two four two two seven glad to have you on board I'm so glad that we could share this moment to get hurt like our virtual mobile it's after hours on CBS sports radio in January of twenty seventeen I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and within twenty four hours of that diagnosis we found ourselves here in Memphis it's a G. they knew what they were doing they knew how they were gonna trader they laid out this elaborate plan we didn't know what the future was or if there even was a.
Coronavirus pandemic expected to slow transition to clean energy
"Covert. Nineteen has shuddered. Major sectors of the global economy and renewable energy projects are not immune solar and wind. Projects are on hold. What does that mean for the green economy and for progress on Climate Change Dan Marino with inside? Climate News has been writing about that. Hi Dan how big picture I how renewable energy projects being impacted by cove. Nineteen the big picture. His that the supply side seems to be holding up. Okay meaning that projects can get the parts they need. But the demand side is in big trouble that refers to just the companies that are developing projects. They are running into financial difficulties. They're running into difficulties. Just getting workers to be able to do work. Let's talk about solar projects for a minute. it's been growing rapidly. We know over the last decade plus and the latest forecasts suggest maybe a reduction in new solar projects in twenty twenty. One was the last time that happened. This was supposed to be a big big year. For solar power now we can see global solar installations. Actually down this year. And there's really no precedent for that. What about wind is that the same picture went our any? Us and globally is probably going to be at a record high this year but the key point there relative to corona virus is that it's not going to be as big as we thought it would be a couple months ago. You wrote about offshore wind projects. Why are they in jeopardy? The US offshore wind dentistry barely exists. There's one project that has been completed in this country. It's a small one in Rhode Island in. There are a whole bunch of big projects in various phases of development or at this park with his whole new. Renewable energy industry is kind of coming into being and the delays and being able to have people work on projects is at a terrible time. Offshore wind is a really important part of the growth of renewable energy in the US because it allows the supply of renewable energy really close to east coast population centers. In if there's this big delay while this industry is still in its infancy anti us. It's something that is causing. A tremendous amount of heartburn throughout the industry. And what will you be for in the next few months? One of the big things to watch going forward is discussions about extending tax credits for noble energy projects that were scheduled either phase out or ramp down a bit at the end of this year. So much of what is putting pressure on them to do projects in twenty twenty. Is that the projects get more expensive after that because of tax credit implications. What does this mean for meeting Global Climate Change Goals going forward? There's a real danger that this sudden drop in emissions that we're seeing right now because this economy is just at a standstill will be followed by a rebound and a surge in admissions and it almost becomes lost time in terms of meeting emissions goals He also are taking a lot of attention away from political leaders who were otherwise going to spend a lot of time this year talking about their plans for reducing emissions We just had the announcement that a a U N conference that was critical for setting. Those plants is being delayed. The big issue here is that we're all focusing on this very immediate crisis while there's this kind of more slowly moving crisis of climate change that is kind of simultaneously still very much. There hasn't gone away. Dan guerrino with inside climate news. Thanks for sharing your insight on climate cass. Today thank you very much.
The State of 'The Black Quarterback': A Conversation with Donovan McNabb
"Over a decade ago my Business Partner Hall of Fame Quarterback Warren Moon. I sat down to discuss. How can we stop? The labeling of black quarterbacks are dream was for some day they're not to be that description at all. I was blessed to sit down with Donovan. Mcnabb one of his men teas and proteges to discuss the status and progression of black quarterbacks in the NFL. This is entrepreneurs. The playbook hey I wanted to have a conversation about black quarterbacks and as you know it's been a big part of my career has warned being a client and then a partner of mine are dream. Ten years ago was that nobody would ever say black quarterback right but I think you know to this day that they don't use it as much but I see a hangover when I look at you not be in the hall of fame or the way that Warren's marketed because they don't want that story told about six years in Canada right right and then there's just an under Tony it's unintentional. It's like even with the metoo movement. Things go on aren't intentional. It's social development social. How can we help? Expediter accelerate people understanding the equality. That exists I you have to appreciate I don't think we're at a point where we appreciate the level of evolution. That's going on and I say that because he wanted to mention. Hey you know you were kind of guy that passed the torch in them like no. The torch was already late for Marlin Bristow Gilliam and dumb and James James Harris and those particular guys. It was then but it wasn't one that was accepted and then. I think when you mentioned the warnings and the Randall Donovan. Before I thought it was a warm place you played when you played but it was. It was kind of a it. Wasn't it wasn't appreciate and when? I say that you know it was the yard that Warren Password worn was Dan Marino. We'll be talking about how radio because his numbers are comparable today without the six years in candidate. But I I think what we're seeing now is. We're seeing people start to understand the level of talent ability. How cerebral these kids are. They can play from the pocket and their leaves. These are all things that when they mentioned about. You'll see that in in the list now and says it has it's literally presidential but but the thing is you have to be able to take a step back and say you know what these kids can play the quarterback position. And when you look at the collegiate ranks then more black quarterbacks in the collegiate good ones so again it goes back to happen understand. What the level we go through and give it to appreciate what we're seeing you know. I do allow entrepreneurs and I talked about patients who and the need to be offended or or resentful. And it's so interesting with all those guys that you talk to your mom. Briscoe someone that in California. We do a ton of work with for years trying to get that movie made by the way you know. It's a really good movie and a really good story but nobody's really resentful and angry or offended. How do you have the patience to wait for the reality to come about that? All the top quarterbacks are going to be evaluated by their talent. Well here we have old. School mentality shouts and tell you them telling evaluators who still have that. Well he's black quarterback what are we just evaluated his ability. How intelligent he is. The family background would become as he comes out. It's nothing else that you need to focus on focus on his color. You only public hair. You have to focus on how he wants. You know the the focus needs to be more of the position and that's what we're seeing we have. We have been after the American insult that people are afraid to talk about now. He will say well. We don't need talking about though. He's the third every America's worries. They play of great ones. The greatest african-american quarterback did win. The might. I've worked with before because the caregiver Steve but this could be an opportunity for a guy who people love is ability. Yeah and then. They want to question the thing about his character. What are you looking at? Are you looking more deep into trying to fight the negative or how good this really with? Doug flutie yeah who has a lot of similarities to a lot of running quarterback and I said if you were an African American would have been your chances even to play in the CFL for how old he is. He said there won't be a chance ever but stories like that people boss. Yeah well that's what I wanted in talking to people over and and it's important for us to focus on that because it's not gonNA stop. I mean we're looking at. We've looked at five afterward quarterback just in the playoffs alone. Yeah headed had a chance to have to play it in title game and then it's GonNa continue to grow where mean who's to say feels doesn't get drafted in the next year or two from Ohio state. Then I was talking about him. It's exciting right now. You've been one of those guys. They continue to grind the path. I'm on your team. As far as I'm Jay Hall of Famer right here. More people need to be aware of the issues that we're facing and this guy needs to be in the hall of fame and many others because we're building a pipeline hall of famers. It's a shame that Warren Moon American and I appreciate the respect. I love warranty. That's right I n there. I appreciate your insight and honesty thanksgiving.

"For now five fix it I say this with the knowledge like I'm not getting caught up I say this with the knowledge the guys like Dan Marino or only made it you bow at a moment it's super one radio role would Dan Marino veered off path to come over and say what's a gym I can't lie yeah I thought that was cool I like that I think they did I worked on the N. F. on CBS one sees when Dan Marino I I Michael I thought that was very cool very classy I like that so what I'm saying is when I say there it I call mine Dan Marino they go one one of those mentioned as possible goat come over to see the radio man but that was cool anyway when I say that all this on the conversation turned to how many more is Tom home is going to get I say that with the knowledge that guys like Dan Marino made it to one Superbowl and never won it or the drew Brees Aaron Rodgers have one ring and they're still chasing like everybody knows that and is still real bark you meant about how many more homes it's going to end up with and let's be real I mean it's a pretty stupid argument right there's so many factors the going to reaching let alone winning a Superbowl the town around you the defense the coaches all the lock the goes into something like that and you know the some of the best quarterbacks in NFL history have only made it to a single super ball some of never made it to assume all but then again after watching the homes the topic is pretty tempting because he is that good he is that young and he does do things that we've never seen before he does things that makes you think that anything is possible and after watching leaders team back from double digits down in the last three playoff games you believe this guy can do anything at all he's got tough to stop his dad difficult keep under control for sixty minutes that's the thing you can't keep this guy under wraps the entire game use give this guy a little bit time and he's gonna make the most of it and he's only getting better as I mentioned yesterday he was amazing in his first year as a starter and then he was better this year than last year and your mind numbers he is wise he was better this year he's gonna be better next year hello he's the only guy who has an old tweet the resurfaces and it's actually a good thing and a cool story and not something terrible that he's trying to take down and scrub and apologize for and now these made to Disney there are a couple of other tasks from home starting with responding to all the text messages but he received he said quote there's a bunch of guys I was joking around with my girlfriend that at one point I was looking my messages and I had paid manning Brett Farr for tripod maillot Brooks cap go just all these different people in the quote high school you manage geek any of us would be if we ever received a tax for me even one of those guys you have yet when the services were you pay twenty five Bucks to get some famous guy text you right you keep it forever this to just reaches for his phone in any odd minute he opens up his messages and they read from top to bottom paying key the Selangor Troy in Brooks it's wild what all these famous rich people get each other's numbers I was at work and we take a moment also and I think this is really important I want take a moment I want to shout out to one of the guys there when you think about those famous guys those all famous he's got might not be on that list but this guy is every bit as important to my homes is any one of them a guy that people around that team and shouting out to Alex Smith my home said Smith quote texted me right after the game saying he enjoyed it just as much as we did he wasn't there but he was part of it I think that's the biggest thing he built the culture that I came into he was the guy that led the team to all the successful seasons and built that winning culture and quote it's amazing thing to say about a guy like that I mean for a long time it'd been popular to bash Alex Smith and that's fine if you want to do that if you think that makes you seem clever or regional or like you really know football but if you listen to my homes Randy reed remedy around the chiefs team in other words if you listen to anybody who actually matters anybody who actually knows what the hell they're talking about they're giving a lot of credit Alex Smith in fact they would tell you there's a good chance that they aren't where they are right now or they would have gotten as quickly as they did if it were not for Al Smith I'm think about that for a minute Alex Smith he's not beating Kansas city for two years and they're still hyping him for helping to build the culture that they have there in for mentoring the homes that is really impressive a guy who knew that he was going to lose his job to the young star the next big thing and instead of getting bent or going sour we're going south he mentors this guy like crazy is reed said last week Smith was the one who taught my homes are you study your diet your workout plan are you or your family and into the National Football League was not home said quote it was the stuff to take your whole career to learn Smith taught me that in my first year in help me have success it's such an early age and quote so is ridiculous as the how many rings Wilma homes when argument be or is almost as ridiculous says the fact we're probably not even having that conversation without Alex Smith in that says a believe ton about Smith M. homes how many guys in Smith's position would have done that I don't know the answer that question but I know a hell of a lot would not have and that says a lot about Alex Smith skies class personified it's amazing angle that I think deserves a lot of attention a lot of credit one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six you know me I'm here to keep a positive to keep it up beat I'm not here to throw a bunch of crap up against the wall I'm here to be smart but in addition to that you know it's not a smart so Tom Brady speculation where is he going to go where is he gonna end up I'm already sick of this I'm Marty over it now we have a whole lot of time between now and the start of free agency the actual start of free agency I will give the update their one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six and you know what I'm not done with the chiefs yet I've got more positive thoughts about the chiefs and in particular the big man big red accolades continue to come in Freddie read we're talking mascots ready ma'am I have that story for a Grady assaulting a teenager sana kan awak a hospital job on eighteen I've got the update that's wack and the verdict I've got more cat head basketball coach Steve Wojciechowski coming up forty passable won't come back when the newest members the pro football hall of fame Isaac Bruce unless rope and we don't use them the paid for one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six well paid for clones what we want when regretting protein or we.
"dan marino" Discussed on ESPN Chicago 1000 - WMVP
"Are here in South Beach all focused on this on the show pencil performance line as we get closer and closer to Super Bowl fifty four but you know this like sort of standard operating procedure we we get these we get the scheduled visits once or twice a year we're delighted to do so as Dan Marino hall of Famer Mr Miami joins us here on the set I think this is the eleventh in Miami I feel like he's been the unofficial host of we're going to stay here already played baccarat so listen look there's a lot to get into with you we're glad to talk first graduations on a hundred and ten minutes all right right yeah it is you think about you know a young kid growing up in love in football playing games and going through his call in and all the people affected your career and now and now you're one of a hundred played ever in in the game I mean that's ongoing so I mean it's hard to believe you know you put the question to me about that because obviously none of it most people can after the hall of fame is an unbelievable water yeah I mean it's unbelievable one hundred people this is it I mean so it is this still gives me chills right now this particular it's a great support yeah I guess because about there's a bigger I mean how can you get bigger in the hall of fame yeah yes because of the way the voting in the whole thing it's I guess you could say it is I don't know it so I don't know if it's certainly more so it is a good problem to have is basic to the talking to generate a with us what is it like for you now because I feel like as we've gotten to know we really young generation of quarterbacks and all these guys a patch of the homes in this game is certainly the one what happens a lot work you're now the one that people compare these guys to we see some of these dudes entering the conversation what what is that like for you now and what you see out of these young quarterbacks that maybe reminds you of what you were it makes me feel good that you guys are expected to know is it's been a long time since I've played at the same time you could see a lot of damage my home is just the way he plays the game his style the way he throws arm angles you know him getting his body into it and just the instincts he has in the meat when he came back twenty four down I mean that that's I mean I know you don't do that you had a problem in that that hasn't happened that much in history really well they're back like that yeah that's the amazing thing right and the like in many ways even though he he didn't he only played that one started twenty seventeen but his career arc is very similar to like the the first year you really came through and broke through you set the touchdown record he set the touchdown record you he did it his well he did a second year it was my second year too right I played some my first right right yeah you guys will very young he gets in the civil very do you see not talking about just the way you played but like the career trajectory it does seem like it's very simple yeah well thank you again he I will say this one thing I mean not everybody brings up they don't bring up is like for him to take advantage of it now because you never know what's going to happen a line you know I've always told somebody young quarterbacks and I was still I think I'm the youngest quarterback to ever start in the Superbowl and never got back I played in and a bunch AFC championship games in the you know the one year I got her with the killings we all we all we had a really good team that year yes we don't like we could have won that year and it's a shame but you know that's the thing you got to take advantage of is when you have that I wanted to do that I'm sorry do pocket on touched in when the killings in your old in my home town here hold best record in the rest of the games that make the place thanks for bringing that up that so I so your first rounder obviously packed my home is it is a first rounder we talk about the early success there's already pressure as a first rounder and the name you came out was that all that was a really more pressure than when you had success that early it's like wow so this game he's killing early so the expectations are even more I thank god in some ways it kind of takes the pressure off because I think because you already you know you've already proven you could do it your teammates though you can do it you've won big games before now you're to support a chance you know to to win the championship and offer him in the future everybody here knows him capable doing this at all party done it I mean I've come from behind twenty four down a playoff games all those things he has in his memory bank and people have in their memory bank you know about his teammates and the players are going to believe in it because of that Y. el all those lines how many times you think teams are beaten before they even take the field thinking about that stuff instead of just reacting in playing the game I think at the level of the NFL hi I it's hard to believe that every yeah thanks that way you know I mean they think like they're they're going to win every game because they're all pretty much at the same level other than you know certain players guys making plays a certain time the only reason I ask that is because of Super Bowl fifty one of the falcons were miked up and they were up twenty eight to three they're like we're gonna win this game but they kept saying that's Tom Brady on the I mean they were literally processing it during the Superbowl as it was happening and that book home it's sort of fell in the labs that way yeah that that doesn't happen often game was yeah not so sure it certainly is a question one there Dan Marino with us on gold we go you mentioned the youngest quarterback to start the Superbowl game what were the emotions like leading up to that as someone maybe you don't know any better at that point but what was it like for you leading into the biggest decided maybe you don't know that you know they don't know any better at the time I mean I we just it was just we were just went in were play great football and we just I didn't I expected to be there you know I expected to be in the Super Bowl that year because the way we're playing maybe because we we were young we took it for granted a little bit you know the fact that we would be back in with and we never got back but we played at a high level for a long time but that's that's the one thing I'll say is don't take that for granted especially these young guys that are in the for the first time is is there part of you because everybody knows you as this pocket passer with the quick release and to see other quarterbacks that are running in moving today and and but they say you a pocket passer that maybe only people as old as us I realize you were a hell of an athlete who could move around until the injuries started started taking the the lower body away yeah I mean it to a certain extent Mike yeah I mean in a younger in my career you know moving in a pocket I mean anyone the ball lightly when we run it you got to run a really smart yeah especially do not that fast yeah but I guess you know the date look at you as a pocket passer I was but at times you know you gotta throw with move around in the pocket it's not always perfect you know it's like to be perfect and there we just stand there like you're thrown seven on seven so and I guess in talking about young and old at the quarterback position is kind of interesting whereas the league now we're seeing guys like Eli manning retire Philip rivers Tom Brady drew Brees all getting up there in age and these new quarterbacks that are really starting to become the stars in the league right now when you look at it we think the biggest differences between that quarterback class like the old for class the guys that are on their way out versus some of the young guys that are really starting to take three by storm so I think it's no athleticism you know but the way they're playing college game you know with a lot of the throes of the line of scrimmage is almost like a running game you know it really is and and then there are PO system doing all those things and it's a lot different get the ball out quick you know which is something that for years it took guys to learn how to do that sometimes you know and and so there is a difference the athleticism I think how they get the ball out the way the college game is you know high paced fast pace so that I would say that's the big difference Dan Marino with us all a favor Mr Miami most importantly starbase Ventura pet detective yeah that's what with this morning the Niners got here completely different way they only three times in the area of speech and see chapter game lowest ever on that title fourth lowest pass attempts in any playoff game in NFL history and there was like no we can win with Jimmy G. he's fine roll this kind of stuff and Jimmy Jesus I'm fine with it that's the way it has to be that's what has to be if you were the quarterback and the call forty five running plays and only eight past place are you have a conversation with I'm not sure I'd be happy be honest with you know but if if you're winning that's the thing if your women and that's your plan and you go in and that's your plan and and he he knows with the plan as the defense those with the plan is and and you win that way I think in this game they're gonna have to throw more than is to win this game so I mean they're going to rely on him a lot believe me so as we we see the Superbowl get ready to go we're also see as Mike mentioned this class of quarterbacks and guys in a little older you retire to what thirty eight thirty thirty eight thirty years old you know the lights of Philip rivers true still playing Tom Brady so plain what's it like for them it was like for you when you're getting up there in you realize you're not what you were and the end may be coming in and you are saying that what I want to keep playing to should I keep playing it's it's hard you know it it is it's hard because when you get to that age you know your your mind for me like my mind would tell me to do certain things in my lower body wouldn't let me do all right so you have to make you know make do with what you haven't figured out pretty much as your plan and your game does change you know your game changes as you get older so that's that's part of it mentally that you have to deal with it if you're a really a really good player then you're able to do that and you can make those changes speaking of lower body perhaps your lower body with a little bit better if you could do the things that you're here today supporting all tell us about yeah I did that will have my Zane slip ons alright this issue about the they are awesome walk around here media day with someone and isotoner for years I did work with them right out couple years ago "To scheduled scheduled to join us tomorrow Chris Carter Dan Marino and weapon X. Brian Dawkins which is very cool so make sure you're here tomorrow morning as we kind of fully transition towards the Superbowl although I think that this entire week and for many weeks after that so many months of many years our hearts will be heavy after the passing of Kobe Bryant it's a day to day were will try to bridge between the grief in the morning of yesterday with looking ahead to Superbowl week but I do want you to know that if you would like to talk and you want to remember Kobe's career and what you've been thinking about since his passing I'm here for you I'm open I'm I'm ready to do it as well so your phone number if you want to jump in on you know things that you thought about since Kobe has passed or what he meant to you or whatnot this is always good we have a place for you to to chat about it so here you go eight five five two one two four CBS eight five five two one two four two two seven and on Twitter you can connect with ME DA on CBS even Kobe's final NBA finals game his last NBA finals game this was game seven against the Celtics twenty ten he became the first guard in thirty years to grab fifteen boards in a single finals game the last guy to do that was Magic Johnson and think about magic at six nine bill much less like a garden a forward or big man he became the first guard to read fifteen rebounds in an NBA finals game I think that's a really cool stacked remember Kobe with and by and one of the many is that he played beyond what his traditional role was supposed to be and that when it mattered most he was going to do everything in his power to win that game no matter what it entailed you don't think about Kobe being a rebounder but when it mattered his final finals game ever in a game seven against the hated Celtics he grabbed fifteen of them the first time a guard had done that in the NBA finals since Magic Johnson thirty years earlier amazing also we lived there for those moments and he lived to be the guy and even when it didn't go well like is terrible shooting nights in a close out game in two thousand and eight against the Boston Celtics it didn't matter he was gonna keep shoot it didn't matter because he believed he was the best option and the more often than not he definitely was I think also about how cool be billed himself into an elite defender and the cool thing about that is that Kobe came into the NBA not as a great defender probably not thinking much about defense he was a scorer but because of Michael was a great defender Kobe had to build himself into a great defender and did and people remember Kobe for his scoring unleashing fury on the opponent from scoring bonanza barrage the guy was a what is a lock down defenders you're going to find he became one of the most potent scores ever and combined it with one of the great defenders of his era an amazing an amazing combination and how do you do that sure well I'm gonna work my **** off to get there you'll see of course the sports world will mess Kobe Bryant another tighten in modern sports of course Tom Brady and Tom Brady of course was the starting quarterback in New England when Jimmy rob Lowe was the backup and for a number of season three seasons Karabagh low watched under Tom Brady before he was traded to the forty Niners rob Lowe said last night at media nights that Tom Brady has reached out to him he shot me a tax this guy you know good.

"Three fifty there's lots of different ways to well below him homes is the perfect like it's so perfect for that person that wants to take a bite out of that apple like here comes the video game against captain hand off yeah so that's what we're gonna do for two way for second I did not know where there was going to manage you said captain hand off asking out the Niners second Superbowl that they one down at Stanford beating the great Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins and how everybody was big on Miami because young Dan Marino was out to sling and F. A. N. in the Niners defense got a hold of them and it was wrapped they did the dynasty is is on and Poppin I do see some similarities between vegetable in this one because a lot of people are going to be looking at Patrick homes in that case the offense angled while you this man is this this is it and men that nine defense hopefully gets a hold of that that can city offense grinds it into a fine powder win the Superbowl and well you know what that was impressive and yeah by the way this team is more than just a handsome quarterback and and a possibly off center tied in this is a good way that has been built the way you need to still build a Superbowl winning team which is handy business on the lines and then start to have depth and all the other key places usually when there is that it's usually some sort of a championship round when you have an oak conferences crossing or whatever this college football you see this a lot it reminds me of Brady's very first Super Bowl against the rams usually when you call that Hey here comes the all offensive show and then another team where you're like oh they're really good but they do a lot with like defense and stuff in the trenches usually that defense entrenched team wins or call usually I'm not always obviously but that's that's so so yeah you know forty nines can hang their hat on did I hear you say on the way in the dark might not play in this game no no start is going to play your chart is going to be high what did you say in your half past whose was hurt well you've got to have in common I know that yeah that's it okay yeah because that that gave me the like almost missed the party got hurt or last row vendor databases and a bit but I don't nobody thinks he's not gonna play I mean Marcel here sympatric more homes as just some I don't want to see yeah okay I'll skip that yeah that made me that made me pause for a second but yeah I mean this is the way it works great match up this good sound right this can be great if anything's worth two weeks this is this is that the country should reject why because in the city Green Bay was gonna be a blow out I think based on what I saw yesterday Niners Titans probably would not have been close now you get a game that we don't know yet they get this explosive offense with all the speed and read as an expert play caller against a killer defense with them awesome wine and and Shanahan on the other side trying to look for a little Superbowl redemption I think there's a lot of this is definitely the the best match up in one that I think is going to have the biggest all in the pictures on and exactly how great is that that's really good exciting regency Robert Kraus white collar pink shirt by the very hardly at all everybody is proud to be a patriot like that that was the part I don't even mind watching the pages play football it was what happened after the games there's just like I'm so tired of this so for him it was what happened before the game either here or there now you won't have to do that from the from the massage parlor to the game right exactly are you can just stay there this TV TV is what you came there Bob good we are going on in there I don't even know what was going on this is going to come on and I mean as we all nighters Jason calls going to come on in Jennifer Lee chan is going to come on home I forget Ralph Omar yeah some Dennis brown is going to turn around yeah so there you go we're going to a show we're gonna talk about the San Francisco forty Niners alone thank you the time this pretty well yeah and we plan to four weeks ago just worked out so the job off and bared all good things was your big Charlotte I do have you know they are now we postpone that will do that tomorrow because tomorrow so we listed all right one thing guess Brent Jones it could be a big niner party that mail co Hey a big bag of eight I'd look that is a I don't have the the cow presser don't forget to fight I think we amber this repressors in the press coverage again every and any this weekend us thank you are Mister mark will take your right up until ten o'clock right here on the sports leader until tomorrow take away their.

"Yes yes it's like that and Paul actually had it as one is Paul suggestions Dan Marino's career versus Aaron Rodgers if Erin doesn't get to another Superbowl doesn't get another ring you know do you want to be Dan Marino around Rogers when you think of the best quarterback in them Dan Marino change the position and then it feels like the next person to change the position was Peyton manning and now we're looking at either Lamar Jackson or Patrick homes it is it could be changing the position again but but Marino change the position it was just there was there was damn Reno and then there was everybody else and then paint came along and then he changed the position as well but you know marina still hears Noah didn't win a Superbowl he jokes about every time he comes on that Superbowl hill joke about it yes that would drive me crazy drive me nuts my whole life I had to get the same question every single year Karl Malone Charles Barkley do actors get down where they you know they haven't won an academy award I don't know if somebody says and joining us now is Jimmy leper wonderful career never won an academy award well Scorsese was famous for an all you're not winning in the apple M. as your god damn Reno in the Superbowl week you're going around people ask your pictures autographs you decide to go on like a sports radio TV show in some tall skinny I really blogger tries to take a shot at you for not winning a simple who are you going to try to take down this Superbowl week make love in I was actually just going over the list and they're not allowed arms a scare me on that is soft thrown guarded Menchu Russell Wilson junior the third see Russ is too nice to hurt anybody I yeah but you still have to do it no I'm just saying like yeah I'm not scared like there's nobody there were very now arms yet that you have you do this to Russell Wilson junior the third do what do you say Hey I'm gonna be Malcolm Butler and I went oh no no okay I just want to know to what level are you going to stoop to make fun of these quarterbacks but can you imagine if everywhere Russell's wailing and somebody did a commercial where he's just going through is Dane is that like the supermarket he goes to grab something and some big cuts in real quick well he's going to get a parking spaces are cuts in real quick and then Malcolm Butler to actually be in the that's fantastic is it like seven years ago and I think it's still can you imagine that all or wherever he goes he thinks he sees Malcolm Butler and then my silence there right behind Mar somebody's hand like what is the scandals you see that now now Russell is get thrown in but as I recall you to really catch a ball the Butler so that night well when I I I don't want to talk about our guesses but there's one guy I'm wondering about what you mean weather will get him on the show guess who I'm thinking about hello Marie yeah you have a great year like I don't know I feel like we propelled him to stardom and we ask for Kyler Murray have I have not heard back we'll come by just honor gave not heard back yet does he doesn't it he always me one right what was your full sentences I'm on the air something Janet said well Hey would you want to have my however in a go yeah I am on but I want to have a what time is it appears that any and he was throwing the football and and it felt like he was okay is going to have a little bit of fun at first he didn't one throw and I succumb on everybody's thrown and I went this isn't a good sign yeah one of culinary joins on the show and it's FOR come back from break down before you even cracking Mikey goes and then I'm planning on playing football like he just had a long pause in sports is very funny if he just says I'm I'm only here to talk about Gatorade Qualcomm yeah then that I I think I need that dramatic pause I think it would be good TV for the the reunion you gotta be excited to have Larry fitzgerald back on yeah yeah yeah Hey Hey and we're not so when the light Hey all around with my club and he was having fun with us but then he just I thought he was having fun I thought so but then he got put a position where I don't think you want to lie to you and then he just kind of froze up yes Michael have you ever seen anyone throw that fast so quickly though because he did not that at some some member when we saw the scout who said they questioned his arm strength and I went wow you can question his son is not his arm strength I mean did you really see the ball at any missing it was like a blur it was that was that I was gonna use that word blur he he got rid of it quick and it had steam on it and then when their talk about his arm strength I said you've got to play baseball he's alright we'll take a break it when we come back more best worst of the weekend and we'll give you ours is well I got interesting stat for everybody's been piling on Aaron Rodgers have that for you coming up next here on the Dan Patrick show I.

"Not sad but when a player says back in my day it was better or if I played today I do this at nine thirty like ed really would you I we know them normally just dismiss that out right I ran across this earlier today and Dan Marino was on one of the sports Yakety yak TV shows and he was asked in today's NFL where the abuse on the receiver has been taken out of the game and you can't touch quarterbacks now below the knee and things of that nature Dan Marino was as what we do today and he says since I don't have to prove it I can stand here and tell you I can throw for six thousand yards sixty touchdowns no problem now again immediately reflexively one dismissed at like yeah sure whatever bro if you saw Dave Marino play then you go if you didn't see Dan Marino play check the stats Dan Marino had no run game whatsoever his receivers I think he made them better than they actually wore now to do per family is gonna do Mager may pretty good Clayton demi you're very late okay Marino was was an absolute stud he threw for five thousand sixty four yards forty touchdowns in his first full season they just are forget them to look at those numbers are just a second in terms of its total number yards but Dan Marino was an absolute machine we all saw him play we all saw him at his best if the NFL rules were set up to favor the offense back in the day when he played like they are right now could he have hit you in the season for six Reina sixty touchdowns I think without a doubt he would have I agree I think is our grade and this is also objective but I think he was the from what I've seen I don't know about the guys before him but since I've been watching football the greatest just pure pass for the football yes that is fully get that ever seen now the release was a joke I mean it was just he had the arm strength obviously made all the throws accuracy he was incredible he all right the only victory over the greatest defensive team I've ever seen and that was the eighty five bears thirty eight on that night yeah thirty eight on the three step drop they yep this you'll get the in Marino kind of forget that three step drop gone well before it was ever result home where Bob fitz Gerald this have any connection fit someone was hurt I forget what it was but right now he is banging on the steering wheel listen so but I agree I think I've been there I have a I think it is yeah I think it's been six grand because I mean he had held the record for a while when he had fighting forty eight touchdown passes in a in a season and that was the record until I think manning past them it's forty nine yes and then Brady past manning and the manager has the Brady again so there's only two other quarterbacks that have thrown for more touchdown passes in an era that was designed to have guys protest down passes and that was that the era back in the eighties we are throwing tons of touchdown passes you can hit the quarterback yeah hit him hard and he was able to do it so yeah I'd I do baby everybody knows the arena was on phone football because yeah namely the dolphins running back up no well that's a guy I was I used to fall the dolphins I can it's hard it really remember him wrangling Tony Franklin or think it seems only a twenty Nathan twenty Nathan who was the the big do that of Florida state that Sammy Smith Amin did says Eminem is Amanda things right but I mean that that that he was a far better Florida state the National Weather Service our point they never really had a now than they really had a running in their D. let's be honest I mean the killer bees were not killer Kimbo camper and you know bom bom our in this I mean they were good but I mean it wasn't the a FC was better on the line of scrimmage throughout the entire decade of the absolutely girls one of the easiest when nothing's an easy bet but I thought one of the easiest beds super bowls usually are easy but the Niners over the over the dolphins I'm like a good manners offenses almost if not the equal of the the dolphins and maybe even better because they had a running game that is the best way better easier than bears patriots as aircraft that was a bigger factor and I thought I think that I think that was double digits of them is the that they're all yeah yeah you're you're right but this is like three this really yeah it was like a small spread over his little because Miami was super loaded out Miami Miami was I mean it was slightly in scoring I think at all they they had a Reno this bad because you know yeah explosive and and and then they remembered that was kind of back before the Niners got rolling work ever wonder the Niners for like dynamite right I think that was a that the first one after the other one yeah so that one that one kind of started the the real run we're just like these guys everyone knew after that these guys are kick **** that was still kind of yeah I think the other good but they do people knew Marino and they knew clay then they knew do poor they knew those guys but when that game was sensible they knew about the nine or D. H. S. had Eric right Ronnie Lott Carlton Williamson Dwight Hicks and those guys were new in eighty one but by eighty four they were you know operate out I I and there's a ton of pro bowlers on that team down and they also had a loaded defense of wind that one about ten deep side right now is there a fourteen they I think they lost one game that a whole year and it might have been done the Steelers or maybe the bangles faqs it I think is a Steelers on some last second deal at the goal line but that team was awesome and they were on fire because they had gotten hosed in the eighty three NFC championship game at RFK by the officials and so they were not just the most talented team with this incredible core in their prime but they were also motivated and gree score that game wasn't there five in the final like than the dolphins of a five or something I remember I remember somebody won the squares pool my mom and dad used to play it and it was just a weird number and I think they were like three quarters with that stupid number is a good number that you draw you like of crap I get this number this number sucks looking he let go out of their way in but it was it was a weird it was twenty was thirty eight sixteen so is the either the eight six six yeah the six the dreaded six which I guess you could win with the six but that's about it I mean where are you were barely see sixteen or twenty six of thirty six images yeah I remember the eight six I got it force them to get aid six oz a gathering at eight six I think they want three quarters Niners defense shot the doll that dolphins offense out in the second half in there it was twenty eight sixteen and a half and finished up thirty eight sixty and this was lego quarterback with forty eight touchdown passes through for over five thousand yards in sixteen games and this is this a good you paying attention at each word Tom he averaged nine yards a throaty really that's big pass a slang in a breathless that is drop Bagley the girls laying in a is that is close is anybody ever played to their to their the home for a Superbowl yes that's what I thought yeah then play down there sure so that was like I will be even closer now man unbelievable a I don't know if you guys know this how they plan sent a clear yeah they do now I know I know I know I know I know it's in the financial district in sales force but now Golden Gate Bridge now they don't play eighty nine ed right you're ready for this wait your reason to **** about it believe everything else on television in nineteen forty Niners started the year six and now they lost in week seven in the middle of October to the Steelers twenty to seventeen and they just smoked teams down the stretch to I mean that was it does it so what they they beat the giants the bears and the dolphins the bears was twenty three nothing they beat the giants twenty one ten and and the beat the dolphins thirty eight sixteen Mar Chris Mullin the hall of Famer joining us next here on the cold refrigerant Brooks show first traffic.

"I four or five years we were on this big thing for four or five years. I kept hearing this argument. Era. Jurors goat Brady second or Brady one. Rodgers to greatest all time apparently Joe Montana. John Elway never existed. Peyton Manning never existed. I always said. You do get it. Like, Tom Brady's got a room in his house full of trophies. They're not that stupid argument. And then I had something I said something during the middle of this year. And I said the it was perceived as a hot take I said the eight best quarterbacks I've ever seen in my life. It's not just about Super Bowls. This is about talent playoffs records your impact to the league. Your impact in the city. What did you overcome? What did you play with the eight best quarterbacks? I've seen again. There's a lot of different. It's Peyton Manning. Tom Brady Joe Montana. Terry bradshaw. John elway. Dan marino. Aikman and breeze. Now. People said you're just saying Troy Aikman. Oh leadership playing hurt toughness dominating a great division. When Washington giant in Dallas pout, those eight best quarterbacks, but the one that got people worked up is drew Brees was a hot take. Was way Rogers, and I said he's right on the outside right next to Brett farve and Steve Young and maybe Dan Fouts. And isn't it interesting? Mr. I'm crazy hot take. Right. I was whoa. You're and I said, no, let's talk about impact to a city. Whereas Aaron Rodgers was given a championship roster a championship level head coach and championship momentum in front office. Drew Brees was given the Cleveland Browns with a port Katrina bountygate. One guy was given the laughing stock of the league that had one playoff win in the history of the franchise. The other player was given arguably the most iconic franchises in the NFL with championship level players. Great momentum terrific front office. Very good head coach. So that's not close. Also. Let's go through four or five things. If drew Brees wins this weekend and goes to the Super Bowl, and they are favored and most people like the saints. If drew Brees get to the Super Bowl. And if he does against Kansas City or New England that again going to be a field goal game. If drew Brees wins the Super Bowl. And again, they're favored at home this weekend to get their Super Bowl titles against Aaron check breeze. NFL records, not close check breeze impact on a franchise. Drew Brees folks is the saints. To Aaron Rodgers is arguably not the Packers best quarterback ever impact on the franchise is not close leadership qualities. I don't know. One guy has former teammates constantly calling him out one guy is revered where three hundred pound offensive lineman. Literally do we have the tape? This is what happened when an offensive lineman Zack street retired recently for the past eight years I've played in front of the most prolific passer in NFL history. Drew Brees has been the single greatest
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill throws rookie out of huddle for missed assignment
"But something else interesting, happened this, past week in the NFL Ryan tannehill of course coming back from the knee, surgery trying to get back there, and really this is a very important year. For him Mike. In terms of is developed to make sure. Yesterday to beat the dolphins quarterback going forward well there was an issue. At practice apparently and Ryan tannehill was going to have none of it and, none, of it being Kaelin ballots the rookie. Running back out of Arizona state yeah he basically the missed a blocking assignment resulted in a clean sac and so basically. He, jumped, on rookie get out of the huddle and jumped. On them explain, you know yell at him about the mistake, that he made in such listen. Not the first or last. Time something like that's going to happen but he's coach Adam gay said he, had no. Problem with taking a leadership role you know doing that and and. Trying to correct the rookie by one of the ways putting them out, of, the huddle but his. Coach, had no problem with it Gay. Said he was in. The right kind of making an example there when he does, things like, that for us for our offense
