"Co I Leonard. He's not LeBron. He's not these dudes. He's really good at what he does, but he doesn't do what a lot of fans in Philly really, really want him to do. So the expectation for him to be this guy to me is just silly at this point. So how much pressure should he be under tonight? Based on what he has showed you in terms of his tool chest? Now, If you want to go to Paul George for that conversation, I'll listen to it. He doesn't have kuai littered out there. So he has to carry this team on his shoulders for a second straight game. Yeah, that's what he's supposed to be if he's playoff P Right? I'm with you on that He did it on the road in Utah. He should have become home and do the same thing, especially against the Jazz squad. It may not have Mike Conley and you don't know the full extent of Donovan Mitchell's health. So, Yeah, Maybe it should be Paul Pierce. Facing the most pressure from an individual player standpoint, tonight we'll find out what happens, You'll see it on ESPN two game sixes. Six years in Atlanta. At Michael Ease, but joining us now on the Goodyear hotline here in the Max Kellerman Show, ESPN Radio ESPN plus ESPN NFL analyst Rob Knake of It's Rob. What's happening, Man? How you doing? Hey, I'm good. I'm down in New Orleans right now, bro. Hey, my favorite food city in America is New Orleans. I hope you down there getting all the calories. Had a French I had, uh, I had a hold on that note. I had a po'boy strip po'boy. Okay, lunch. It was great. It was great. So probably not the best for the the The midsection. But guess what? It don't matter. Hey, man, when you're traveling on vacation and stuff calories don't count dog. Enjoy yourself. You can get a treadmill when you get home. Exactly Hey, Rob. You know we were One of the big conversation over the last couple of days. Based on what we've heard, um out of Chicago, specifically with Matt Nagy, saying that Andy Dalton is the starter and Justin Fields is going to be behind him. Rookie coming out of Ohio State a lot of expectations and you go to New England similar situation there. With Mac Jones being highly drafted by The Patriots, But you have Cam Newton coming back veteran who's you know has been to the Super Bowl and I believe, and I want you to get your take on this theory. I believe if NFL teams are going to be drafting these quarterbacks High in the first round, because I understand you have to because the value placed on these players of what it means to a franchise. If you're going to do it, I think you put them out there as soon as possible to find out if they're good enough to be the guy you drafted them to be. If not, you move on. It worked for Tory Aikman. It worked for Peyton Manning. It worked for John Elway. It worked for Dan Marino now granted. We don't know if Justin Fields or Mac Jones or any of those players, but you're going to find out how you put them out there. What is your take as a former player in terms of when you start these rookie quarterbacks versus having a veteran out there instead? Well, I mean, you look at both of those teams and both players on those teams. It's almost like they're complete offices. Andy Dalton is more your, you know, traditional quarterback in the pocket and then Justin Fields as your mobile guy that can run around, and they plays with his feet. And then you look at the Patriots. Mac Jones is your more traditional pocket quarterback, But he's a rookie. And then Cam is your move around guy that is athletic. But, you know, I think that it is best in my Point of view of playing and seeing these young guys play to get them out there and to get their experience because they're going to take their lumps they're going to have they're gonna have their mistakes and they're going to, um really have to learn the hard way. But on the flip side of that If you have a roster that you built around them to support them like the Patriots, I feel like if they could run, the football was success. They can protect the young quarterback and they have a defense that can play defense. Then you can have a young guy out there just like the Bears Top five defense. Um, you know, running game if they can protect the quarterback in that way, keeping the down and distances to manageable 3rd and 5 37. Where they're not looking at 3rd and 15, and you got defensive back licking their chops. Um, I think it's in their best interests. Put them out there and get him playing as early as possible. Because you know, often say in sports, whether it's the NFL or any other sport at the highest level you really learn about and athletes capability in the moments of greatest adversity. Right. If you were taking your lumps as you were saying, if they're losing games, how do you respond? How do you come back to the film room the next day or the or the team meetings the next day. How do you respond in the following game, and I thought We learned that early about those other quarterbacks I mentioned and if you're a team, I feel as if Rob, you need to learn that as soon as possible, And if he's not the player you thought he was, then it gives you more time to move on. And maybe find the player that is the guy you need at that time. Yeah, well, I think that when you draft a guy high in the first round, everyone knows that That's your future. That's what you have invested in because you think that that is going to be your future moving forward. So I don't get you know, wasting a year or two. Um, it's different. If you have a guy stay like Aaron Rodgers, who's an M V P player. Very Good Hall of Fame, football players and you draft first round player Everyone knows Yeah. Aaron Rodgers is a better football player. But when you have a situation like Chicago where they haven't had a quarterback in a long time, you know they have a biscuit doesn't work out. You have a veteran? Come in that you're you know, you think he can give you a subpar play, But now he's not going to be lights out and light it up every time he's out. There you go. And you draft a young quarterback who had a great college career. You want to get them out there you want. You know if I'm a defensive player on the Bears, I'm sick of saying like, Man. We got to get the ball again. We got to go make a play. We gotta score again. I want a young quarterback out there. Making plays, and if he does make a mistake, I can live with it because we know that he's progressing. He's getting better. Pennzoil performance line that includes coach cal and coach k. This hour plus the history-making president of the washington football team. Jason right will join us in our final hour as well. It's time for straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. We were speaking about two of and prospects in the nfl and key. You just think the body type is not exactly what you need. And maybe the coaches around him aren't exactly what he knew succeed either. Look here's what i was saying. Guy did a terrific job at alabama at the quarterback spot. But so has a ton of those guys have come a long right you think about we had greg mcelroy won a tiny one a title but i also have a history with the offense that they ran in alabama. I look at our quarterbacks that we head out west whether it was mark sanchez where there was matt liner. Had esi at sc under steve sarkisian and lane kiffin carson palmer was really the only guy that kind of took the nfl grabbed it and may do of it. I you coach chan gailey office coordinator down in miami. If you told me coach caldwell who was the former office coordinator who had to take a leave of absence because he got sick a year ago if he was the office coordinator down their quarterback coaching. I probably would feel different about to prospects of becoming something special in the national football league when you look at coach gailey. It's like who has he ever coached. How did he all of a sudden. Get this tag as a quarterback expert off. It's a coordinator. Just look at the history of his stops. I'm not talking college. Football georgia tech. I'm talking the buffalo bills dallas cowboys to kansas city. Chiefs pittsburgh steelers. I'm just looking at that as saying how did he all of a sudden. Become this quarterback experts that worries me. Especially when you don't have pieces around you to help you out. You young quarterback let me ask you this. There's probably no franchise in the nfl. That's been looking for replacement since dan marino rights. So if this one doesn't work and clearly they think it will. We're are you as an organization. We're coming up on off. Think is going to work when they draft you true. Think about it. They all no matter if this organization or another one they all say to themselves. We got the right guy. So you're saying you don't think too is gonna work. I don't necessarily know. I'm kinda awaiting major. Wait and see approach because i also look at the players that he was with at alabama which is a factory. Ok there's three four five dues drafted in the top fifty picks every single year and especially at the skill position again. Jerry jeudy henry ruggs smith. Is there right now. Who's going to be a first round. Pick waddles there right now. Who's going to be a first round. Pick nashi hair is probably going to be a late. First round pick an offense industry talk. Only offense not include moseley on the defense aside in thirteen. And it's just a different situation for me. When i value way alabama quarterbacks and i know these are keys ian does a hell of a job. Qb's in college from an injury standpoint. J it's not akin to yours but this was one of the most catastrophic injuries we've seen on a football field. The dislocated hilltop of an injury did alabama. Medical staff is unbelievable. There are some people that say that could have been a career ending hit. Had he not gotten the right surgery and recovered the way that he did. Take us inside the mind of somebody. That's had to recover from that in as you've said a brutally violence i've never i've never had a hip injury. I don't i don't know what that is. I've had a lower extremity injury. I don't know how a hip injury no. I've never been a quarterback so. I don't know how that hinder your mobility in the pocket. Especially when you have to have quick bursts but anytime you have anything wrong which allure body when you have to plant and you have to rockets step you have to slide the pocket you have to throw. You have to wait. Wait what to rocket step main quarterback so iona noticed it. I can't demonstrate it but something in the pocket has to make sure he. He hits his backflip. Plant slide up in deliver the football. That is going to be hard for any quarterback so when you first talk about the lower body injuries on. Qb's the first thing you say is. Are they able to stand tall in the pocket. Still do what. They did that before they got injured. We don't know you've seen him run around and do some stuff saying conversation. You would have with alex. Smith saint conversations with tom brady when he tore his acl when people start to mess around your legs. It's a little bit different in so this'll be the first time that he's back in action since college and it was a long layoff now. Medical experts say. He's a good to go so they drafted. I'm.
What they're saying: Philadelphia Eagles, Wentz or other teams — who has the leverage?
"All about away. Bought away by the way. The miami dolphins got their guy. I just meant they got us. That dude is they got a guy young guy so let's put some. what are we talking about. Let's put the question. Then this way. And by the way i would say this right now to are coordinating producer. Pete mcconville and our producer. Allie grenade. i don't understand how we do not yet have a feature called jeff saturday. Who's high this week. I mean every week jeff. Hester name that's got to become a tuesday stable. Is this week. We make a segment out of everything on this show but markets very quickly. If the dolphins get forgetting about guam if the dolphins get to shawn watson are they the biggest threat to kansas city in the afc next year. Yeah they are. And i know i say that because i saw were buffalo did. But i'm taking the sean before. I take josh allen and their defense. I'm taking miami. Defense with the sean. Look the inspire football. You play when you have a guy at that position that you know you can't win wit. It takes it to a different level. I love how floor is coaching. But i do think that sometimes going in and out with fits magic and into mayor. Put this team in kabul unknown territory. About what their identity was offensively and the defense never had a question. About what their identity. Would you bring this on. You answer that question. That's our quarterback. Raise the level of play of everybody around you. Oh and yeah let me tell you why. Because he threw for the most yards went out of number one receive on team this year. That's how good he is. Listen this is a no brainer. I would love to see desha watson and josh allen go toe-to-toe for years to come in that division and see who can make it out and then get the kansas city potentially in the afc championship bottom line in miami. They've been trying to find the next dan marino for twenty years. They thought maybe you're still may have him into a tunga vilo but shawn watson is as much more. A known commodity will see if that plays out. Meanwhile quarterback rumors are everywhere including these that the eagles wanna move carson wentz. We know that. What kind of market are they. Finding darlington has the very latest. It could be very interesting. Plus lebron james having another mvp caliber season. You'll hear why jay williams thinks he should win the academy award as well. That's on the way this is get up on. Espn do you own. Read your home share. You and i bet it can be hard work. You know it's easy bundling policies with geico geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com. Get a quote and see how much you could save. Its gyco easy visit. Geico dot com. Today that's geico dot com on. We go get up. And another of the quarterback trade sagas continues this one involving that main carson wentz whom league sources believe is on the way out of philadelphia and the eagles may also explore options with his longtime tight. Ends zach ertz. Perhaps philly could include ertz in a wentz package to maximize trade value. Words has one year and eight point. Two five million dollars left on his contract it look. There's a whole lot of speculation in jeff darlington insider here. I'll start with you as to why no deal has been worked out with wentz yet and one of the ways that i look at it from afar is maybe eagles. Just overestimate what it is. People might be willing to give up for wentz at this point when you consider the contract that he has. It's essentially the same circumstance as jared goff in los angeles and the rams had to pay a team to take him off their hands. So is that how similar or those situations and could that be. What's holding this thing up. Well very possible. Greedy speaking with a source with the eagles who certainly understand everything. That's going on with this deal. And you know the one thing that he said. I said what's the holdup here in his answers february sixteenth. Today lear doesn't even start for another month by a bunch of exclamation points and there is something certainly to that. March nineteenth is the date that they'd have to decide on paying him. That ten million dollar rostov on this. This is the runway that they're working with now. Of course you do want to make sure that you make the most of your leverage multiple teams involved. You don't wanna lose one of those teams and then Maybe cost yourself some compensation from that other team but we can point out here that This this source also told me that there is no no trade clause in carson wentz deal so it doesn't really matter say he wants to go to the colts but they're getting more compensation from the bears. They could just send him to the bears. It wouldn't be a problem
Who will be Indianapolis Colts' quarterback in 2021
"But we begin today with music that philip rivers is retiring after seventeen seasons in the nfl. Sixteen with the chargers and san diego and los angeles and this one season in indianapolis when he got to the playoffs rivers never got to the super bowl but he stands fifth all time in passing yards and touchdown passes and he started the final. Two hundred forty games of his career without interruption will now become a high school football coach in alabama. Like his dad. We'll how will you remember his career. Well tony we automatically in any sport. Now we began to group people right and we associate certain people with certain folks football. It's done by position you know in a way that is probably not in the other sports. But i think of warren moon and dan fouts guys who were prolific prolific players who had long runs and played almost every game and they had a piled up passing stats. Galore like rivers did but they didn't reach the super bowl and then about through no fault of their own. Their teams weren't good enough. They got close. Each of those three gentlemen got close. But didn't have the breakthrough to the super bowl and rivers the same way river sets himself apart because he ran his mouth a lot. Which i have done without and i tend to like trash talkers but i i am. I didn't take to that. But he was a prolific quarterback. Tony he will receive serious consideration for the hall of fame. You know. I mean fouts and moon that to me shapes the category. I don't know if you've got other names. You'd like to put in there as well. Get to the hall of fame in a second but in looking at philip rivers his career. I thought he was a very very good player. I will remember. Most is the way the way he delivered the ball where he wound up and threw it as far as he could. And most of the time you thought it wasn't even going to get there. But it got there especially with antonio gates and it ended up in the end zone a lot. You talked about grouping people. Well i'm gonna group them as well. I'm going to group them with his draft class and draft class ally manning ben rothlisberger. They both dot to multiple super bowls. They both won super bowls. I feel badly for philip rivers in this regard to me. It's like charles barkley. It's everything but the ring because the statistics are certainly there. And i thought it was a very good quarterback. I'll take the hall of fame issue. I'll add another name dan marino. Who never won a super bowl if the comparables to marino and to moon and to fouts are rare. Then he's going to get in. I don't think they hold it against you. If you haven't won a super bowl there are people who've won. Two super bowls aren't in the hall of fame. You not room for a long ten years. Yeah do you think he would get in.
Philip Rivers Passes Dan Marino For Fifth Place On NFL's All-Time Passing Yards List
"38 years old. With a restart on his career. In Indianapolis, and as much as Philip Rivers is generally a wild ride, and he is I. I've called him a poor man spread far for years. He's a gun slinger. He's got different arm angles. Obviously, he's Confident guy, but he generally has a couple moments in each game where he gunslingers to the wrong team. He nearly had an interception in this game and had a couple of balls that were off the mark. But that's that's rears. I mean to be boring, if if it was steady right that wouldn't fit Philip Rivers. Well, like it or not. He is headed to the Hall of Fame when he retires. Every time I say this people get all fired up, but it's the truth. On Thursday night. He moved into Fourth place Now Excuse me, Fifth place all time on the NFL's Career passing list. Passing one Dan Marino. With 11 yard completion. This was early in the game. He only needed a handful of yards. To get past Dan Marino. And he was well over 300. He's now it's 61,666. That's a lot of sixes 61,666 for his career. And there are only four quarterbacks who have more passing yards in their careers than one Philip Rivers. You know all about Brett Farve. Peyton Manning. Tom Brady, Drew Brees. They're so playing, they're still bound to keep racking up more yards as his Philip Rivers. All for those guys. Either Hall of Famers or bound for the Hall of Fame. So his rivers now there's a big difference, obviously, because he has not won a Super Bowl and generally doesn't have that same success in the postseason. There's still time those of you who are Colts fans. You know, earlier this year I think it was weak three was definitely the first month he became Just the sixth quarterback in NFL history. To throw at least 400 touchdown passes. And he's likely so he's sitting in that six play spot right now he's likely to pass the in Rio before the season is up and work his way to the top five. So then he's in the top five all time and passing yards and all time in touchdown passes. Of course, he's going to the Hall of Fame.
Ravens set NFL record for 20-point games with win in Indy
"Baltimore shut out Indianapolis in the second half for twenty four to ten win the ravens had just fifty five yards of total offense over the first two quarters but came out in the second half with seventeen unanswered points riven quarterback Lamar Jackson was impressed with the comeback we always hear about it like in a prison stuff like that but we never came back and stuff like that so this is good I guess you know when we win every game we don't want to be on during the game but it is what is Jim updated news pretty good shows up when a teammate of Jackson who had a hundred seventy passing and fifty eight rushing yards is now tied with hall of Famer Dan Marino for the best start by an NFL quarterback after thirty games at twenty five and five Tom McCabe Indianapolis
Ravens' Jackson ties Marino for best start by QB
"Nine Sunday. The NFL season is a Ravens improved to 16 to 24 to 10 minute. The colt as quarterback Lamar Jackson ties Hall of Famer Dan Marino for the best record through the 1st 30 starts at 25 5 since taking over Meanwhile, the
Dolphins' Tagovailoa wins first career NFL start
"It always seems like he can find the bright side always seems like he can find a reason to smile or reason to be optimistic. And considering what they last year of his football career has been like the last year of his life dominated by rehab from a devastating hip injury, And here he is. Thrown into the fire after the Dolphins by week, making his first career NFL start. And while he does have his first career NFL fumble, say hello to Aaron Donald, you also hear his first career touchdown pass on the Dolphins radio network. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio, We will look into his numbers here a little bit more about this rookie quarterback. Who they've thrown out there in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick to figure out if they have Their franchise. Q. B. You may have seen the reports that kind of sprinkling out over the last couple of weeks ever since he got the starting job, despite the fact that they were three and three in Fitzpatrick. Is a guy that really brings a lot of energy and great leadership. The reason they went to to, uh According to reports, it's because they want to know if they need to go back to the draft. And start looking at quarterbacks or to a can be the man moving forward and considering the number of times the Dolphins have been hit or miss on quarterback since, say, I don't know. Dan Marino retired. They want to make sure they've got the right guy. And so yes, there right in the mix in the A, F C and now are above 502nd place in the East Division ahead of the New England Patriots. When was the last time we said that? But they want to know if to Ah can be the face of their franchise or because they've got some high draft picks Houston being one of those right they had Houston's draft pick in 2020 and Houston's terrible Right now sitting on one win, and so it could be a really high draft pick. So they want to know is to Ah going to be the solution at quarterback, or do we need to keep looking? It's
Boston - Patriots’ Cam Newton Signing Made Official
"Dea think that Cam Newton on the New England patriots when everybody for the last few months or so have simultaneously thrown dirt on the Patriots and elevated the Buffalo Bills. Do you think the. You have to bet right now. Bad Online. We'll hear about them in just a second go on Ben Online. Who Are you picking in the AFC right now? Well. Let's really break down the Patriots you know we're talking about. What's going to happen now that Brady's gone? How many! Hall of Famer Potential Hall of Famer and Hall of famers and Pro Bowlers. Have left the Patriots in the last two decades. Many men meant. Yes, that's all they do. All they do is turn over personnel or for the Sidebar to that is guys. Get thrown money by other by the other thirty one teams. I'll go hill. Replicate what he did in new, England is like no, no, there's some weird Voodoo that goes on up in Foxborough. That does not translate down the Tennessee or Texas or wherever else you're talking about right, so we're not talk. You know we're not talking about. What are the dolphins going to do without Dan Marino. Because they've changed show so much personnel on the offensive and defensive side of the ball over the last twenty years that if there's any team that is poised to turn over one guy now, he's the quarterback. Obviously, that's a super important job, but if anyone has proven that, they can swap one guy out for another guy, it's the Patriots. Of Foreign. Any other organization. And proof of that for any of the cynics out there, they're ignoring I know. It was a limited sample size, but Jimmy G. One every game he ever played Jacoby perset was was good as well when he had the takeover for Brady. Yeah, it's a and you know for what it's worth. Three BLEDSOE came in way back when at the start of the Millennium and beat the steelers in in Heinz field when Brady got hurt, so there's plenty of track record that you're going to be able to plug qb in there and succeed. It is interesting though that given the way Brady plays versus the way that same position and everything else. Else but wildly different way, but people say well how how CAM GONNA fit into that New England system. Have you watched the Patriots play? They don't do the same thing weekend week out. They always change it. They're obviously GONNA change what they do to accommodate number one now.

"I can't remember who the other player was from from the Bulls that you could play as but they did get an e a call. Once Midway did from Gary Payton who was also on that bowls team. Saying that him and Michael Jordan wanted a copy of the game with them in it as players, so they sent in their own photographs of playing basketball team. animations and sent them like special edition arcade machines. Within. His players with like maxed out all-star stats. There's only a handful of cabinets that exists. Shack had two of them. One of them was in shacks home, so he just play play where everyone and the other of these special edition in be h am. Machines traveled with shack like wherever he went like wherever they were playing games like they would have somebody. With them isn't that fucking great key imagine that linked in liquid. What was your job During this time period, I was the caretaker for an arcade machine that traveled across occasionally in that person's defense. Though an incredibly I would imagine valuable arcade machines because I don't know how many of these exists, but they are. They were very scarce. There've been a few. NBA Games that NBA Games that have come after that, but none of. Of them like really lived up to that heyday, I play this game so fucking much, and then in college like we played it every night when we go over to like our friends houses, and like you know have a few beers like eventually this just Kinda, we would put away you know whatever halo game we're playing or whatever and just would play Mbh. Am because you can play it all night and it is just fine. Well it was on a few different systems, it was on genesis, but we played it on snes. There was also a tournament edition, but also in arcade cabinets and stuff. Yeah. I think I could still probably pull out the code that you had to punch in a place Bill Clinton. AGM KICKS ASS IS A. Good video game. Lot about this game. There is a lot I. don't know about this game, but it's a very good game. Hey, can I steal you away, yeah..

FRICKEN Dilbert over here by sell. Sell all the time with me. Just put me on the back burner, so you can dilbert out to get that commission. You know and you're reading. Call supposed to which I don't really want to talk about, but I do WANNA. Talk about accessibility options in video games are very very cool and something that developers are very much prioritizing right now, unless supposed to has a ton of them, including things like. Text to speech for a lot of things. There's a high contrast mode where like the backgrounds are in sort of black and white, but like characters and important objects are bright vivid colors to help people who need help seeing things like that I think it's fucking. Brad, and such an important thing for like making video games available to everybody, and it's really nice to see. A game is huge as last year's biggest blockbuster so far like take that stuff so seriously. It is like A. Guiding light for other Games that will follow in its footsteps, and it's just really cool to see that stuff. It's pretty neat. Thought of IT I. Wonder, what is it the puddle jumper? The puddle jumper is good. Win I was a kid, and I wanted to get in the pool I had to put on a water wing. Yes, which was sort of effective, but not particularly safe exhausting, it was. Essentially keeping yourself afloat by the strength of your biceps alone get kind of had to like constantly hit. It was not the the puddle jumper is is for children. It is for particularly small children and it has like a bands around the arms, and then this whole like band around the chats a life. It's a life vest plus waterwings. Essentially that is designed to keep a kid just upright no matter what they try to do. It's not for like infants, and I will say that for a long time. Henry was was so slim that he could not effectively wear it, but this summer has been the first summer where it has fit him appropriately, and it is incredible. Hey. You go first this week. Do you WanNa break me off a piece of that big wonder. No. All right I'm going to give you a teaser for my first thing. Done Oh done and I know this one than rocky. Sharks. I have really I've seen it maybe once and that was a long time ago I've seen it. Yeah I'm only seen in a couple of times, but I feel like it leaves quite an impression does yes, it does are so much so. That Henry knows that that is the song associated with sharks because that is what we saying the things he knows. That I don't know where he is learning them from. I. Don't know he's quarantined like he has no excuses, not gonNA be like. This kid at school is obviously teaching them about jaws I think a lot of times. We don't pay attention to the things he is watching, and maybe that is how he's learning. Maybe, but he's not watching 'cause. I would notice if he was watching fucking jaws. Anyway. Sharks of the big fish they are alerts a lot of debate about whether they're fish or mammals. What I read, said fish. I used to think too yeah whales. I guess our big sort of more chill sharks. Most of the time. This is my understand ocean taxonomy the fish, so they have the Gill slits on the side of their head like the fish do right, and then they have the pectoral fin Brian. "Hello everyone and welcome to frames. My name is Scott Olsen and I am talking today with Beowulf Sheehan. Beowulf is one of the most sought after most successful and I believe most important portrait photographers in New York. These days he has worked in more than fifty countries lectured at New York University and Yale among other places and if you go to his website you will see portrait of people like Oprah Winfrey Twenty Morrison Patti Smith Margaret Atwood Patrick Stewart in Kellyn Paul Simon and dozens and dozens of others. It is a body of work of which I am personally Quite envious good morning. Bill could he's got great to hear Your Voice. I do have a quick thought for you. I've not traveled to fifty countries the photograph I photographed in better than ten by way of commissions however I have photographed people from at least fifty countries and hopefully been able to travel to their worlds in cultures through those experiences. Okay I saw that on your resume and I was impressed and I'm still impressed. So tell me how things are in New York this morning. New York is a beautiful place this morning. The air is cool and crisp outside. I did have a short walk this morning. I am very fortunate that out my window. I have a cemetery so I get to see less trees and I have a great deal of quiet. What sounds I hear. Every morning in this new time of ours is usually One of two things that I hear all either your birdsong or I will hear the sound of a passing ambulance and of course happy to hear the former not to hear the ladder. That is the time in which we live summer mornings in New York. City yes Tell me about portrait photography but let let let's begin where people how in the world could you get into photography? How did you get into the kind of portraiture that you do specifically I into photography being a shy boy and wanting to make friends and prior to the thought of making friends? I wanted to be reacquainted with my father. My parents divorced when I was in elementary school. My father was out in my life for a few years and when he came back the beginning of my high school years he had a Konica thirty five millimeter camera. A Long Lens to go with it and when I arrived at high school which was a high school outside of my neighborhood I went to magnet high school for foreign languages. I was busted very early in the morning to get there. I was in the ethic minority in head a world of new friends to make and when I got to school my classmates were speaking about two things with which I was unfamiliar of the Miami Dolphins. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and girls and I knew very little about both but I had been working in the summers and not really spend that money on anything beyond books and comic book so I had enough money saved to become the youngest person in the history of the Miami Dolphins the buy season tickets to the Miami Dolphins. That's impressive I go So what I had done was than I began to use my father's camera and I would take a tripod that camera that long lens invite a new acquaintance from high school to eat game. And I believe my mother had driven been to us down To attend these games and no one ever stopped me. The guards were very kind. They recognize me after a few games. I always went through the same gate that sort of thing and was able to watch Dan Marino or the ball around and make pictures and then make Prince of those pictures and share them with classmates over time developing friendships and of course Getting to know my father again. That's a wonderful beginning there. Is I know an extraordinary event. Though in your early connection to reading and that's possible yes but but I'll let you lead that so when you're asking the extraordinary connection is well. Yeah you you are probably the only you are the only person I know who's ever been bitten by an alligator. Oh this is true this this. I don't know all the people in your life of course who you know but but I'm the only person I know who's been bitten by an alligator and that happened to me in the summer of nineteen seventy six in June of that year. I was of course on summer break from school quite small and my brother and I were playing in the backyard of the home of a friend of my mother in southwest Fort Lauderdale where there are canals and those canals in some cases feed than Their Way West to the Florida everglades and of course. That's where alligators hang out. And some of them sometimes get lost. My brother-in-law had been wrestling. This lady's backyard was time to come into the House for lunch. I had asked the Lady of the House. If we could use your host wash our feet persons they were full of dirt from the grass and the young lady had said no actually better just a spicer feed off the dock and then it'll be quicker and I went I. I remember sitting at the dock. Enjoying splash on my feet and looking at my brother and my brother's twenty months younger than me made his eyes get bigger and he looks down on my foot. I looked at my foot and I saw the alligator close. Its mouth around my right foot and I went to some degree of shock. The allegation let go. He caught the outside artery of my ankle and bloodshot out. Allah a bad money iphone sketch. And my my brother then began to grab my body to try to pull my body up and my mother and my mother's friend of course had come out of the house at this time and they were lifting me from the document onto the grass. The allegation had gone back under the dock. And I don't know how much more time passed or how much blood I lost but I then at some point found in the emergency room of a hospital where my brother was born. Only a few blocks away and doctors worked in saved my foot. Save my leg. There was concern for infection loss and I was very lucky to have for the balance of the summer. Have Gone to the hospital every day to get my foot. Epsom salts to save it and that meant of course not being able to play games at not being able to enjoy summer camp not being able to do sports do much of anything involved mobility and that deepened my reading and then with it of course my drawing and my reading and drawing through my childhood in and beyond began with comic books and then onto more challenging books More INTERESTING BOOKS. Maybe more interesting stuff. The right word say because books are wonderful. And they're very very interesting. Otherwise we wouldn't have these films adaptations of stories that now the masses is seen film but the the books of course comic books would come out once a month and it was great to go to seven eleven after school and pick up those books but I would devour them so quickly and then I really wasn't in the mood to wait another month for the next book to come out so I would just draw stories myself. The drawing worked its way over time of course into photography. But that's a longer compensation which I'm happy to have
Coronavirus pandemic expected to slow transition to clean energy
"Covert. Nineteen has shuddered. Major sectors of the global economy and renewable energy projects are not immune solar and wind. Projects are on hold. What does that mean for the green economy and for progress on Climate Change Dan Marino with inside? Climate News has been writing about that. Hi Dan how big picture I how renewable energy projects being impacted by cove. Nineteen the big picture. His that the supply side seems to be holding up. Okay meaning that projects can get the parts they need. But the demand side is in big trouble that refers to just the companies that are developing projects. They are running into financial difficulties. They're running into difficulties. Just getting workers to be able to do work. Let's talk about solar projects for a minute. it's been growing rapidly. We know over the last decade plus and the latest forecasts suggest maybe a reduction in new solar projects in twenty twenty. One was the last time that happened. This was supposed to be a big big year. For solar power now we can see global solar installations. Actually down this year. And there's really no precedent for that. What about wind is that the same picture went our any? Us and globally is probably going to be at a record high this year but the key point there relative to corona virus is that it's not going to be as big as we thought it would be a couple months ago. You wrote about offshore wind projects. Why are they in jeopardy? The US offshore wind dentistry barely exists. There's one project that has been completed in this country. It's a small one in Rhode Island in. There are a whole bunch of big projects in various phases of development or at this park with his whole new. Renewable energy industry is kind of coming into being and the delays and being able to have people work on projects is at a terrible time. Offshore wind is a really important part of the growth of renewable energy in the US because it allows the supply of renewable energy really close to east coast population centers. In if there's this big delay while this industry is still in its infancy anti us. It's something that is causing. A tremendous amount of heartburn throughout the industry. And what will you be for in the next few months? One of the big things to watch going forward is discussions about extending tax credits for noble energy projects that were scheduled either phase out or ramp down a bit at the end of this year. So much of what is putting pressure on them to do projects in twenty twenty. Is that the projects get more expensive after that because of tax credit implications. What does this mean for meeting Global Climate Change Goals going forward? There's a real danger that this sudden drop in emissions that we're seeing right now because this economy is just at a standstill will be followed by a rebound and a surge in admissions and it almost becomes lost time in terms of meeting emissions goals He also are taking a lot of attention away from political leaders who were otherwise going to spend a lot of time this year talking about their plans for reducing emissions We just had the announcement that a a U N conference that was critical for setting. Those plants is being delayed. The big issue here is that we're all focusing on this very immediate crisis while there's this kind of more slowly moving crisis of climate change that is kind of simultaneously still very much. There hasn't gone away. Dan guerrino with inside climate news. Thanks for sharing your insight on climate cass. Today thank you very much.
The State of 'The Black Quarterback': A Conversation with Donovan McNabb
"Over a decade ago my Business Partner Hall of Fame Quarterback Warren Moon. I sat down to discuss. How can we stop? The labeling of black quarterbacks are dream was for some day they're not to be that description at all. I was blessed to sit down with Donovan. Mcnabb one of his men teas and proteges to discuss the status and progression of black quarterbacks in the NFL. This is entrepreneurs. The playbook hey I wanted to have a conversation about black quarterbacks and as you know it's been a big part of my career has warned being a client and then a partner of mine are dream. Ten years ago was that nobody would ever say black quarterback right but I think you know to this day that they don't use it as much but I see a hangover when I look at you not be in the hall of fame or the way that Warren's marketed because they don't want that story told about six years in Canada right right and then there's just an under Tony it's unintentional. It's like even with the metoo movement. Things go on aren't intentional. It's social development social. How can we help? Expediter accelerate people understanding the equality. That exists I you have to appreciate I don't think we're at a point where we appreciate the level of evolution. That's going on and I say that because he wanted to mention. Hey you know you were kind of guy that passed the torch in them like no. The torch was already late for Marlin Bristow Gilliam and dumb and James James Harris and those particular guys. It was then but it wasn't one that was accepted and then. I think when you mentioned the warnings and the Randall Donovan. Before I thought it was a warm place you played when you played but it was. It was kind of a it. Wasn't it wasn't appreciate and when? I say that you know it was the yard that Warren Password worn was Dan Marino. We'll be talking about how radio because his numbers are comparable today without the six years in candidate. But I I think what we're seeing now is. We're seeing people start to understand the level of talent ability. How cerebral these kids are. They can play from the pocket and their leaves. These are all things that when they mentioned about. You'll see that in in the list now and says it has it's literally presidential but but the thing is you have to be able to take a step back and say you know what these kids can play the quarterback position. And when you look at the collegiate ranks then more black quarterbacks in the collegiate good ones so again it goes back to happen understand. What the level we go through and give it to appreciate what we're seeing you know. I do allow entrepreneurs and I talked about patients who and the need to be offended or or resentful. And it's so interesting with all those guys that you talk to your mom. Briscoe someone that in California. We do a ton of work with for years trying to get that movie made by the way you know. It's a really good movie and a really good story but nobody's really resentful and angry or offended. How do you have the patience to wait for the reality to come about that? All the top quarterbacks are going to be evaluated by their talent. Well here we have old. School mentality shouts and tell you them telling evaluators who still have that. Well he's black quarterback what are we just evaluated his ability. How intelligent he is. The family background would become as he comes out. It's nothing else that you need to focus on focus on his color. You only public hair. You have to focus on how he wants. You know the the focus needs to be more of the position and that's what we're seeing we have. We have been after the American insult that people are afraid to talk about now. He will say well. We don't need talking about though. He's the third every America's worries. They play of great ones. The greatest african-american quarterback did win. The might. I've worked with before because the caregiver Steve but this could be an opportunity for a guy who people love is ability. Yeah and then. They want to question the thing about his character. What are you looking at? Are you looking more deep into trying to fight the negative or how good this really with? Doug flutie yeah who has a lot of similarities to a lot of running quarterback and I said if you were an African American would have been your chances even to play in the CFL for how old he is. He said there won't be a chance ever but stories like that people boss. Yeah well that's what I wanted in talking to people over and and it's important for us to focus on that because it's not gonNA stop. I mean we're looking at. We've looked at five afterward quarterback just in the playoffs alone. Yeah headed had a chance to have to play it in title game and then it's GonNa continue to grow where mean who's to say feels doesn't get drafted in the next year or two from Ohio state. Then I was talking about him. It's exciting right now. You've been one of those guys. They continue to grind the path. I'm on your team. As far as I'm Jay Hall of Famer right here. More people need to be aware of the issues that we're facing and this guy needs to be in the hall of fame and many others because we're building a pipeline hall of famers. It's a shame that Warren Moon American and I appreciate the respect. I love warranty. That's right I n there. I appreciate your insight and honesty thanksgiving.
"dan marino" Discussed on First Things First
"Way to hire here I I. Dan Marino spent his entire hall of fame career with the Miami Dolphins. So who better to join us live from the home of Super Bowl fifty four on Fox then Dan Marino we know good morning. Dan Who you're hanging on courtyard by Marriott. Sweet inside hardrock stadium. You got a two week jump on us. We'll be down there soon and we'll get to all that in committed again. Good morning and thank you for joining us. Good Morning. Thank you for the two beds behind me. The sweetest looks comfortable. It's going to be a great experience for somebody. That's fantastic tastic. We're GONNA talk about that in a second. But you gotta start by asking about the quarterbacks that have been in the playoffs that we've watched since the regular season ended. How impressed are you with the quarterback place so far during the postseason? Well everybody has been doing it in a different manner. I mean Ryan. Tannehill has played excellent all year and the way they're doing it as far as running the football And he's being very efficient as far as his passing concern in converting key third downs. I mean that's one stone and you have Patrick. Mahomes the other styles you know him. Just kind of lighten it up throwing touchdown touchdown which is a lot of fun to watch So everybody has is a different style and You know Aaron Rodgers same ways guys WanNa throw it around the yard a little bit and and Kind of create on his own and see what happens. So you know. All all the quarterbacks in my opinion have their own style. But they're all deserving where they are in a chance to go to the Super Bowl then. I know how nick right feels about his caution but uh-huh Patrick Mahomes the best quarterback in the NFL right now. Well he's playing fees. If you ask me Patrick is playing at the level that you want your quarterback back playing out going into the AFC championship game and possibly the Super Bowl so The ways playing in the playoffs too. I mean the way you come come back down from twenty. Four points is extremely impressive. So I would say that yes. There was not a single throw on the field Dan you you couldn't make it a different arm angles. Great Pardon me video of you in practice. You never did it in a game but in practice thrown behind your back on a dime to receivers can since you retired. Who has who the quarterback or two with the best? Just roll arm the best arm in the NFL. That you've seen post Dan Marino so is who well. That's a good question because there's been a lot of great guys with big arms and not only the big arm but it's also accuracy and Aaron Rodgers that would say Since retired you know Brett Farr was one of those guys And I played again sprint. We're Kinda in the same era but Patrick mahomes homes. Some of the throws he makes is extremely impressive and and You know you love to have guys like that that can make big throws but also accurate and competitive and love football ball. You know. That's the most important thing for quarterback Dan you have no idea how happy made my partner just by saying the word you have made this day Dan. You played all seventeenth seasons. We don't see that kind of longevity with one team anymore at a high level of success you think first of all. How much do you think Tom Brady has left? And is he better off leaving the Patriots first twenty first season well. That's that's a tough question and to be totally honest with you. It's really. It should be up to Tom Tom. If Tom Wants to stay and play another year or play another two years there he should he should have that right to. Because what he's done for that franchise and what he's done for that team Ah in the New England fans and everybody but if he wants to go play somewhere else he has that right to because of what he's done he's a hall fame player So eight it it would be hard for him to make that call. It really is because there is nothing can replace playing football and I went through it myself and I decided not to go anywhere else and retire are after seventeen years and that's a tough one. I mean it's just. It's not easy especially way. Tom has been so competitive Throughout his career is going to be a tough Oranim that Dan. I'm curious how surprised you are that. We're even in a position where we're asking the question when Brady never wanted the question to be asked. Will he play somewhere else else. When they were coming off their six super bowl this off season he went to them asking for a contract extension? Not even top dollar contract extension and the team did not give him one. And that's what has led us to where we are now. How surprised are you because you you alluded to it? He deserves the right to finish his career there that the Patriots didn't lock this this up as a guarantee before the season even began. I mean that's that's a tough question also but at the same time He could see because Tom's was getting up in age. Maybe that's how they wanted to handle it and see how the year went Me Personally quarterbacks guy so I would I would have taken care. Tom Ahead of time Dan. I grew up in therapies in south Florida. So I watched you play your whole career Miami. I'm interested in the worst quarterback plan today. Reminds you the most of how you play I think it is Aaron Rodgers. Really I mean I but he he was probably more much more mobile than I was especially later in my career and and and he's been around awhile but you know he has a unique style thrown the ball. Strong arm very accurate You know one of those guys that I would say Plays with no fear as far as trying to make throws that he thinks he can make so I'd say he's probably closest one. I imagine you don't have many regrets about any part of your career except for maybe the year in which you were born. Maybe just fifteen years later. And you'd have been the first six thousand yard passer sir. Instead of the League's first five thousand yard passer or instead of the League's first fifty touchdowns season what wh- what type of numbers realistically. What are we talking about out if the rules of today? So we're in your era so I think that not only me but some other guys would've thrown for five thousand yards if the rules were Like they are today. But you know what since. I don't have to prove it. I could stand here and just tell Ya. Throw for six thousand yards sixty touchdowns no problem. Hey Dan is there here. We talk so much. About what players would you like to play with. Who Do you like to be alongside with is their current? NFL coach a head coach. That you would most want to play for that sort of fits. It's your style best. You know there's a lot of guys I respect over years and You know Andy Reid. Because he's been around so long one in different places I think his style of play calling is is pretty cool. What he's always been very innovative so he would be a guy would say? That could be a lot of fun to play for. Dan Brandon mentioned. He grew up rooting for the Miami. Dolphins grown up in south Florida since you retired. The Miami Dolphins have been searching. Forget for the next Dan Dan Marino just the next quarterback who can play there consistently for a long time. They might have the opportunity to take that guy in this year's draft in Tuitonga Bilo He. Obviously we also as enormous concerns because of the injury. If you're the Miami Dolphins if he's on the board at number five is the injury too much for you to make that big or is that someone someone you'd be comfortable with being the next quarterback in the Miami Dolphins. Well I think he he is a one heck of a player for sure and A Guy that a lot of teams are going to really take a hard look at and and probably you know someone will take him. I don't know if it's the dolphins I don't know who would be But as far as him as a player when he's accomplished accomplished As a college player The I would say someone's GonNa come in and take a pretty high but it's really comes on those health and how you know he's GonNa feel as far as his his hip concerned and how long he's going to have to sit out before he can play. There's a lot of question marks there but at the same time he's a heck of a player. I got a lot of respect for him. I down. You're down in Miami Getting Ready for the Super Bowl. You also look extremely comfortable this morning sitting there. You're working on an exciting project. You mentioned earlier courtyard by Marriott at super bowl fifty four tell us a little bit. What about it? Well yes is the Super Bowl. Fifty four yard by Marriott sleepover suite Naveh suite here and there's about Forty seats in it and they got more set up. They got two Two beds behind me here and it's a contest that they put on and thirty official hotel of the NFL and the Super Bowl and there's one lucky winner that's going to have the opportunity to sleep here the night before the game Saturday and wake up and be the first person in her friends to wake up Sunday morning and Super Bowl stadium and that's the niece. She's already one to one because her passion for work and she became an er doctor when everybody told her she couldn't do it repeatedly kept going back to do it and do it and now she won the contest and she'll be here super more morning at courtyard by Marriott. Awesome Great Story. Congratulations to her dance. Thank.

"Solid at six to the giants. Adding Michigan's Devon Bush will also first round Philadelphia. The eagles to have him. But for the lions, I think I could get one of the two guys, and I would still prefer the linebacker. I'd rather short that his issue would be Devon white. I mean, this guy one hundred thirty three tackles and the thing that's on his who's got a report is he has even when the game yet. I like that. Because if the guy one hundred thirty three when he doesn't know the game magic when he finally figured that out. For good school plays. Great competition. Funny stories when coach came on my show, the giants coach came on my show when he went to divine child, of course. He comes on the show. I was two hours. I think we know what station we're talking about here. Ten ninety Shurmur, by the way. Yeah. Okay. He came over to ten nine in my show. Years ago when he was a divine show, we want an hour with their with him in an hour Volpin line. He was fantast. He never got one. Call and I mentioned opening the restaurant. We got jammed. He sat there for the next hour. He's I never got a call. I never got a goal. What what's wrong with me? At this mart guy, though has been guy. He was capital eighty seven Rose Bowl tomb at MSU. Don't Pat for thirty whatever years, I'm happy for his hopeful success with the giants we have two in New York. But I'd like to get the giants coaching tenures been a little tenuous. What are you gonna do? What do you do manning over there? I think this is I think he can make that happen. There's gotta get that quarterback thing, right? On soon. I mean, I don't know if you can go with manning if I were him after what I saw wing Haskins at his pro day on the I'm I'm gonna tell you Dwayne Haskins. Holy mother. He was an unbelievable shape. He was all over the joint his pinpointing passes compared to out and that pro pro day. Dan Marino, not DeMarcus Russell, no together. With a limit a wheel has has more pocket. That day. Look like to me. One of the have to step drop fire bone got it on if you drafted him. Keep manning one more year this tease about after next year. You wouldn't think so you would you would Haskins sit and on behind and learn the trade a little bit and learn from the goes to rings. Yeah. But I wouldn't hesitate at all. I mean, this guy was the I just I I haven't different level maybe on a little bit over the town. I'm over the top state guys. But man, I mean, I've paid a lot of tension to him playing games seen practices seen as pro day that kind of stuff I pay attention to anything Canada's guys, and he just he just doesn't fail from me. I would I would not be at all versus seeing him start as rookie. Let's six emails here. Go ahead. Go ahead. Mark from these point. What what what which NHL team is more likely to come back from an oath to deficit will it. We would it be the Winnipeg Jets or the Tampa Bay Lightning. You gotta think Tampa right Winnipeg's too tough to I took a coin flip a coin. No. Loser to pursue at all. Yeah. Well, then yet. Okay. That's different than you. Gotta go Tampa camp. Sample. Don't like talking about talking about coined easier for Tampa road to go to Columbus and win. They're probably with what the personnel. They have as opposed to now. Maybe the jets do that in St Louis. I'm gonna tell you the coach of the year in the NHL this year, very trots. But you know, the problem is this very Trach. He could be coaching your every year. He's phenomenal. He really really go. You took a team listen to this. Although I was still go with you are a lot. But that's just me Joe. He's tremendous too. And I think Galante better job issues last year. That's you've told me that a couple of times this year. Because they lost say very trots that team was in a mess when he got it. And the first team in one hundred years. To go from last to first goes against in a hundred years. That's pretty good. That is more than good. That's one more Email. Go ahead. We got much from Chuck in Belleville veal has the guts has to start to start drafting more hitters, Mark. What happened at W Sayer? I don't wanna go their own and part of that. What happened a are? Two ninety. Let's just say we had an ownership issue. We were doing great. Things happen in life and business, and it's a while ago now, but there was there was a shoes. Shut down. "And we got a great new stadium the hard rock stadium. I don't know if you guys down there yet and seen it had. Had a really good job with it. So it'll be snow great for community as an adviser and the top ranking official in the dolphins. I would recommend that you purchase that giant Marlins home statue from centerfield and just put it in the end like right behind the uprights. And if the kicker hits one of the fish, everybody gets a fish taco. Okay. That's a good recommendation. We'll look do you know Marlins men. No, the super famous fan just human being whereas orange second most guided travels around. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I don't know him. But now he's kind of the main powerbroker Miami. I should probably bring him to get Dan Marino. One Marlins van to for the city of Miami want something serious football question. So one more serious. So you guys are getting Brian floors. It looks like that from from the New England Patriots as your head coach down there. What's it going to be? It's gonna be stark shift because you've had often minded head coaches in the past. What do you expect him to do to the defense to overhaul it, you know, it's like any head coach just wouldn't try to get going in right direction and win football games. And you know, he's he's the guy that you know, we all chose to be our head coach excited about him coming down. And you know, it's really about you know, philosophy players and win football games. Are you little concerned that he might be ability plant that you know, he sends around the league to rival team. So that he can continue his dominance. I don't think. So. Okay. Just keep them. Okay. Got it. All right..

"So we really wasn't about me about what I did for Jim Carey because it wasn't for me. Jim. That's kinda how I take all full credit for Jim Carrey's career. I don't wanna go down a dark road. But would you would you consider the biggest disappointment of your career that you didn't get nominated for an Oscar? Yeah. I was disappointed. Yeah. Where'd you say that you are the most talented NFL like between the sidelines to where I told her gloves. Euro Jay don't don't ask the question. Okay. In the lines. Don't ask the question. Do you ever go up to do you ever taxed or give a call to Ken O'Brien being like that didn't work out for you, man? Kenny actually was a very solid player. Good players is at the quarterback position for the jets. And and I remember as far as our head to head records planning. It's probably like five hundred. But he wasn't Dan Marino. Okay. Let's say you defeated the eighty five bears. Yes. How is that? That must have that must have been awesome. Was it was very satisfying. Because you know, they're an excellent football team. They're good defense is played in the history game. So that was a great night for us a Miami. And you know, being a part of that helping to seventy two team, you know, keep their legacy. You have an team was big for us. And and it was a good night. The old RIC flair to be the best. You got to beat the best. You beat the greatest dynasty of all time one year dynasty of all time. So. So that right there must be a bear. It's one year dynasty of all time. And so that makes you the best. Party damn good question. Sometimes you say things on the show, and we expect like, yeah. Hell, yeah. You're right. You know what? Yeah. Point do you ever look back and be like, man? My hair was awesome. I do know, my hair still awesome. It is still awesome. Yes. You do have great hair. Put in the eighties at Pitt. Yeah. Come out the back of the helmet. Yeah. Let it grow along. That was some awesome. Yeah. Let us go going back. Then where did you learn the fake spike from actually it's good question? Coz are very brought that from Cleveland they used to practice it a little bit in Cleveland and we start practicing Miami. So I give give Bernie Kosar credit for that the one at through it, obviously. But yeah, but he brought it from there. And it was the perfect kind of perfect time to use it in in a worked out. Now did everybody on the field know that you were going to run the fake spike the office of line? No, are we it was it better for them to think you're actually going to spike it. No, they knew they knew when that that. That's a possibility. So they're supposed to at least try to block, you know, in the receivers run up quick route. That's one of my favorite things every time. There's a there the quarterbacks going to clock it in the. Back of my mind. I'm like, please. Let it be a fixed. Like, it's so exciting to watch. Yes. Yes. Some rothberg. Did it? I think this year last year. He actually just didn't know what he was doing. He just got confused the ball. All right. So here's a good question. You work with dolphins. Still. You're very close with the team. Have you ever thought about changing the road jerseys to be a little less turquoise orange? I'm not gonna say candy ass. But I just did because I always had a theory that once the dolphins go on the road to really cold places, those jerseys. You just can't win in those jerseys. So a lot of times we wear white on the road because I team where's their color white on the road? But it's still got the turquoise in the in the color. Have you thought about being like, you know, what on let's change our colors. I don't have that kind of power. I think you do you have more power than anyone intercity. My Super Bowl. You're going to be the mayor of the Super Bowl next year not to mayor. But I am on a super committee for the eleventh time SuperBowl coming in Miami..

"Too Irving Fryar. Jim Duffy, all the great players that more. Yeah. It's fun some fun with thrown around a little bit. I mean, you were and there was no bubbles greens. Yeah. You. Was like a different monster back mode. The The guy. guy the guy, and you were kind of this revolution of offense before it even came that nineteen eighty four season was I actually would say is the best season for quarterback just because of the air and everything involved you at forty eight touchdowns, which was what was it was sixteen more than anyone else. Your thirty six. Yeah. Yeah. And you're leading rusher was a fullback would. He would he meant it. Hell, yeah. Yeah. So Oh, yeah. I mean. Yeah. No. I just love fullbacks. Oh there. You got some great ones down Miami. I just saw Tony page. You remember Tony pay? Yeah. He's an agent. So were you were you in the zone that entire season? I mean, that's what's special. I think it was the fact that we had a a team that we went to the Super Bowl a couple years before. And we had a pretty good veteran group and then duper in Clayton myself come on board and we had win games down the stretch. So it wasn't like we had win our last game to get home field advantage. So when we were just thrown at the throat it was important yards. It meant something. And it was one of those those we had to win games at the end and three or four touchdowns a game. At the end was reason why we through forty eight. Yeah. And you had to pass in that humidity down in Miami lot. How big are your hands? Okay. Those are those are pretty I'd say like normal size. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's For kinda you. down in the humidity. I've always heard that it's tougher to pass like in the wind than it is in the in the rain, you always seem to have pretty good control in the rain. Actually. It's it's harder. Brought a thrown rain. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Because because the, you know, the the wetness of the ball did you do anything in practice where you dip it into like a take a water now? Now, we practicing the rain the rain would stay out in practice. Didn't go inside. And in the you know, the indoor facilities. Okay. Go ahead. Did you after you're done playing? Did you ever have any desire to get into, you know, managing of football team or becoming head coach at some point down the line where you just you know, what I'm gonna Did do. the media thing and enjoyed that coaching to have nothing, but respect for coaches in in the hours, they put in how much work they do. And I actually do some stuff now with the team the dolphins at works in advisory there and enjoyed a lot. Okay. I got a question about that. So I've a theory, and you can just tell me if I'm way off, but guys like outweigh Marino. You guys who are legends of the game. Maybe after a decade goes by your okay? You want the dolphins to be successful? Right. After you retire. We kind of happy that like the quarterbacks afterwards kind of stunk. Like, I feel I was happy that they couldn't find someone for a while. You know what? That's no, I'm often for live. I like put it though. You know, I'm a dolphin for life. So I always wanted to do. Well, I really did you know, it's in it's been a while. And we're working on getting better. How many dolphins have you in your life? Thicke? I was I took my kids want swim with the dolphins key west. And I think I was. Yeah. One time. Guests like twenty times. I mean there were snowflake snowflake. From the movie. Yeah, that's twice. How what did you think that that movie did for the legacy of Dan Marino because we were children of the nineties?.

I've never done interview in the back of. There been on tape in the back of. No, okay. Well, guess what? I was actually a little worried because you're a big guy. But you're looking pretty slim, and you're fitting in this van you must be doing something something. Yeah. So Tra system is company I've been working with and four for thirteen years now, and I lost twenty two pounds. And I've been on nutrisystem for men off and on since then and Monday believe it or not is the biggest decision day for men go right because they don't want to go into playoffs. They usually put on you know, fans in general put on ten twelve pounds. Sees more sometimes or that's very true. And it's a big decision day. And like I said system for men, it's it's easy at works. So random, I didn't even know you did that totally on on a bunch that is the perfect timing. Because you want to get in shape. You got those two weeks to get it in before Valentine's Day to start to look like a real person again. Yeah. Then then you go back and then you cycle back before the NBA playoffs. Start nice little thing that you can treat your body to big cat mentioned it earlier, but I wanna I wanna double down on his claim that you are the best pure passer in phil- history. But I've heard people say that I don't know what peer passer means. Can you tell me I guess throw a bit or anybody? Nice. Supposed to mean, quick release all that good stuff mechanics. So if you watching today's NFL to you just sit there and be like man, I would carve this up twenty two year olds Dan Marino. Yeah. So the the the good part is I don't have to prove it. So yes. I think final Hank is disgusted with me for saying that I don't know if this is like a PF tee bit, you're doing you want to hear the baby had a conversation the other day where it was you know, you Henry NPF yet. But that's before that's before. Oh, Henry Henry PFC headed Henry and p Henry. It was Henry. Yeah. We did. And I was listening. I've been on the patriots all week. But does dad game thing has me show. But he made it he He did. did not record seven, okay? Would know better than you. He would I'd like to see I would like to see some research on these somebody find out what the dad games where for Wade Phillips and tell us I I'll repeat my theory with Blake. But I'll say it really quickly here when you gamble. The first thing you wanna do is obviously pick a winner. The second thing you want to do is make sure you don't get embarrassed. So I guess my Fisher pick would be the patriots. Because I feel like when you get to the end of the game. It will be embarrassing. If you have the Rams and the patriots to what they've always done, but I'm not gonna I'm not gonna actually pick a side gambling wise. I'm going to bet the over and a billion props. Well, I'm not being a patriot Sater. I think that they have very good. This is like one game going to hand up. I don't know who's going to know pick one. Yeah. We played the head. That's the game. That's the name of the game. You gotta pick it. Well, that's what I'm doing. You know, what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna stick with my preseason. Prediction of Rams patriots. And that's it. I'm just going to stick with the okay? My favorite thing that any any guy who had Rams or patriots in the Super Bowl? And the preseason prediction just walks around radio row all week being like, you know, what I'm a man of integrity. I gotta stick with my original pick that. I didn't August. Rams patriots. And just reminding you I actually got it. Right. No one's keeping scored. You. Don't cares. Should we go to our interviews? So let's dim Reno. I and let's say Dan Marino, didn't like his not real friendly guy. So how it works when we do guess at part of my take especially this week. But in general, this is a little pull back the curtain real quick opened the Komodo anyone who's listening to show for last three years knows? We have our recurring guests that we love. And I think are always entertaining. Like, Blake Bortles. And then we have guests that we have to take. If someone says, hey, we have this guy. We gotta go take a chance. And Dan Marino is a no doubt her. Gotta go interview them, no matter what. Because he's Dan Marino. And it started. He was was like bad. It's just that. I don't think he liked us at all. No, he didn't aided. If we're being fair part of that is probably because we hadn't climb into our van almost hurt his knee badly. So Dan Marino. Yeah. He couldn't get out. Right. Almost got stuck in the van den Renault. I don't think is used to stepping into vans to do interviews. Yeah. He's more of a luxury studio guy. But he so he's a little thrown off from the beginning. And we asked him weird questions asked about the candy ass. Uniforms in like that may have asked him about OJ Simpson. Like that. So yeah, no social interview enjoy shutout Dutra system getting people get people good shape. And then on the other side. We'll go straight into Blake portal's, which is a fantastic interview. We did a Wikipedia reading and Blake. I'm Blake every time with them. I just laugh and smile, so funny. "I four or five years we were on this big thing for four or five years. I kept hearing this argument. Era. Jurors goat Brady second or Brady one. Rodgers to greatest all time apparently Joe Montana. John Elway never existed. Peyton Manning never existed. I always said. You do get it. Like, Tom Brady's got a room in his house full of trophies. They're not that stupid argument. And then I had something I said something during the middle of this year. And I said the it was perceived as a hot take I said the eight best quarterbacks I've ever seen in my life. It's not just about Super Bowls. This is about talent playoffs records your impact to the league. Your impact in the city. What did you overcome? What did you play with the eight best quarterbacks? I've seen again. There's a lot of different. It's Peyton Manning. Tom Brady Joe Montana. Terry bradshaw. John elway. Dan marino. Aikman and breeze. Now. People said you're just saying Troy Aikman. Oh leadership playing hurt toughness dominating a great division. When Washington giant in Dallas pout, those eight best quarterbacks, but the one that got people worked up is drew Brees was a hot take. Was way Rogers, and I said he's right on the outside right next to Brett farve and Steve Young and maybe Dan Fouts. And isn't it interesting? Mr. I'm crazy hot take. Right. I was whoa. You're and I said, no, let's talk about impact to a city. Whereas Aaron Rodgers was given a championship roster a championship level head coach and championship momentum in front office. Drew Brees was given the Cleveland Browns with a port Katrina bountygate. One guy was given the laughing stock of the league that had one playoff win in the history of the franchise. The other player was given arguably the most iconic franchises in the NFL with championship level players. Great momentum terrific front office. Very good head coach. So that's not close. Also. Let's go through four or five things. If drew Brees wins this weekend and goes to the Super Bowl, and they are favored and most people like the saints. If drew Brees get to the Super Bowl. And if he does against Kansas City or New England that again going to be a field goal game. If drew Brees wins the Super Bowl. And again, they're favored at home this weekend to get their Super Bowl titles against Aaron check breeze. NFL records, not close check breeze impact on a franchise. Drew Brees folks is the saints. To Aaron Rodgers is arguably not the Packers best quarterback ever impact on the franchise is not close leadership qualities. I don't know. One guy has former teammates constantly calling him out one guy is revered where three hundred pound offensive lineman. Literally do we have the tape? This is what happened when an offensive lineman Zack street retired recently for the past eight years I've played in front of the most prolific passer in NFL history. Which I do do you think if Philip rivers in the same category, Dan Marino, and I was being unfair that that that was a that was a cheap shot on my part because Dan Marino's a witch Dan Marino's end to Super Bowl. They lost. Yeah. But they win Marino. I think I don't think about passing the test. I don't think of I mean, he man he's got to world championships right to Super Bowls. I don't think you've align as great as Eli is and Super Bowl MVP and all that stuff. I don't think of him in the same categories. Dan marino. No, I don't think Philip rivers in that category. So like verse two quarterbacks is Philip rivers to hall of fame quarterbacks what curtain Curtis Martin is to hall of fame running backs. Somebody who was really good Javadi. Really good. Maybe not great no Super Bowls. But just. Just urine you're up put up the numbers and at the end of the day with career was over. You couldn't deny the hall of fame worthiness. To those numbers. The hall. There should be a hall of good. Like the like the Justice league, you know, back or they call the Justice league back in the. Where they go like, the Justice Justice me mail. Meanwhile, back at all just meanwhile, back in the whole good stink is knocking on the door. Can I come in? You know, it'd be in the hall of fame a good the home good. Yeah. Not great. No, I wouldn't get myself that but good the hall of good. I'll a good. I'd take the whole damn straight and be a lot of guys in the hall of good. There would be a few guys names. You don't recognize the hall good? You know, like who the hell's that? He was good. Now. He's he's really good. You know that one guy. But I mean that's the game. If you're the chargers at home first game you've been at home in what five weeks? Yep. Against the Broncos team. That is not really not very good to make that kind of mistake is Phillip or is. It's just not I don't know like he'll go to the hall of fame. I'm sure but of all the guys who haven't won like the guys who have on championships that are in the hall of fame. So. That's Warren Moon. Dan fouts. Yep. Do I think? There's another guy where he just looked at. It went come on. That guy's just great. I know but rivers, I don't I I can't I don't think of rivers that way. Let me ask you this about the draft class since we're on this that draft class to I think two thousand five draft class. Ally. Rivers and Rothlisberger to me Rothlisberger is head and shoulders. Yes. Head and shoulders. Did again last week would that come back? They were dead. Dead. And he threw a lot of picks that that help bury them and manage, but it doesn't matter back willed him back. Yeah. I'm telling I like, I look at that class. And it's it's Rothlisberger in than like the other two are going to. I don't know. I just that's a that's a I didn't mean to get in that discussion. But it's just an interesting, it's tough. And I know it it's in many ways it's unfair that we use championships as the ultimate measuring. Stick of all time. Great shore. Of course, it is. It's unfair to the Dan Marino's. It's unfair to the Dan Fouts's. It's unfair to the Charles Barkley's. But we have to have some way to keep score. And to me. Knowing that no system is perfect. I think being able to point to championships is still the best way. Especially it's still the best especially in the ultimate team sport, which football is and the ultimate position individual position. They ultimately sport which is quarterback if you will. How can it be any more? Like that is you would agree. That's the most important position in all of team sport. Yes. Like that probably goaltender and hockey. But but right quarterback head and shoulders above you have more. You have more of a. More of a direct effect on the outcome than any other position. So, of course, the championship part is going to be part of the equation. When you're kind of ranking where these guys fall..
