"Rusty was at her side then he was up the trail tail wagging waiting for her to catch up but what she got to the top of the blood she could see. The gravel. parking area was empty. She walked around to the front of the building. Sauce slip of paper rolled up and stuck under the handle of the shop back. alex left. She pulled it out thinking that it was a notice. Some kind he'd love for her wadded up. After reading it read the words. Get out through it on the ground like we did have company. Rusty rusty looked around and followed her up the steps to apartment but she didn't enter. Sit down the wood platform. Rusty came lay next door. You know. I think someone doesn't want us to stick around. She pushed a stand walked into her apartment leaving the door open and tried to shake a feeling of melancholy. Just may be. Ned branch was right and she should move back to the monterey peninsula but she shook it off decided on a hearty breakfast instead thinking she probably just needed some protein three eggs since many pieces of bacon and she was feeling optimistic about her decision to condescension a spe. The shop vac work wonders on the floor but was too clumsy for the nooks between bottles and boxes of herbs which he really needed with some kind of hand back. Bob alex and wish he'd get back early. The euro fired up right away while warmed up. She put her hair braid. Untucked it under her helmet. She was second gear. Accelerating up the slight incline. That led to dungeness. Bay's main drag tab right pedal for the rear brakes as road. Came into sight with no effect. She squeezed a lever for the front disc. Brake and again nothing downshifting. She cut her speed. Kill the engine and brought the sidecar rig to an abrupt stop cranked on the emergency brake and just sat for a minute. Thinking of i that she had done something wrong then remembered the note dismounted and lucked under the motorcycle. Found the brake line and the slice of was still leaking brake fluid. "Luke. So here's my question. Uh, in my bathroom, The exhaust fan, Um One under the Tub area. I have softened it down. And the exhaust fan is on the facial part of it. Follow me. Okay, so the the So the exhaust fan has AH, is an outlet on your soffit, and you've got like a little cap that is down that's connected to this office. Yeah, well, so there's like 8.5 ft ceilings in the bathroom, so over the tub area, it's suffered it down like 15 inches or so OK Exhaust fan for the bathroom is on the facial. Wall. It doesn't pain straight down in the tub area, so I said, Okay, we're talking outside five mounted. Okay, so yes, I okay. I got you all right. So it's really old. Um, I've been in the house 28 years and it was probably here 20 years before I got here. It's an old squirrel cage fan. Okay, so it's big. It's a big get apart all that it's being apart all the time and clean it. Okay, really loud. It's probably really inefficient and I want to replace it, but everything I see at the big box stores Everything says that it's like a straight down Mt. You know where we're just hang from this like a ceiling Mount. And not not Mountains, You know, into a wall. Where so I don't know if if they will work or not, like okay, so their bearings need us. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. The fan. The fan doesn't know which way you're mounting it. That squirrel cage fan that you have Side mounted leader. Grown makes a what's the number? I have the same one. I just replaced that in my house. Probably 23 years ago. Um, I replaced the more I replay at the housing was there and I bought a new motor from grown to replace the squirrel cage Motor. I mean, that's the other thing, too, is you? You could probably just replaces. Looked that up, Actually. Yeah. Broening looked that up. I don't know if they're after market parts or what? No, no, no, But I mean, the whole point where you said, it's you know, you think it's 40 years old. Depending on the size of the bird of the bronies squirrel cage fan may or may not fit, but if it doesn't Then you just have to do new housing. They make a squirrel cage. I think it moves about 300. C. F M's. So it moves a lot of air. It's pretty quiet. Small bathroom. Yeah, it's only about seven by eight. Okay, So so you have a more so you have more fan than you need. But you absolutely can replace that with a new one. It doesn't matter Side month every all those motors now are sealed. Jack. So okay, it doesn't matter. There's no oil. It's not like the old days where you had a little thing you to flip up and you put oil in the motor doesn't work. It doesn't work like that anymore. Everything's all seal. The bearings are all sealed, so You can buy a new fan. Pop it on there or buy a new motor if you can get it to fit. But you know if you take the cover off Do you have access to the attic above and that's often area or no. And that really, I'm assuming If I replaced the fan, I'll probably have to take the whole housing and everything out and maybe realize the hole a little bit. No big deal. Hopefully, you know that even with an old house like that, it's not Hardwired that there was a flexible whip. Because when you go to there is I've taken it out before it stretched right to the end, But it's hard wired into a whip that so I have a little bit of play where I could move it. So you got a little room to do that. God, Yeah, Yeah, Don't worry about it. I took the thing completely apart to do this before And then I realized that Everything seemed to say. That it needed to be hung from the ceiling. And I I I don't want to go through all the trouble of doing all this and then have the thing. They're not working. 00 long. Yeah. Zero issue with you mounted sideways like that. I don't think you'll have a problem whatsoever. Wow. That's great news. Hi, buddy. Appreciate your phone call. Thank you so much. 8772134. Lou. Let's take a quick call on then we're gonna break for news. This is Maggie in Chicago. Maggie. Good morning. You're on How smarts radio. Good morning. How are you today? I'm doing great. What's going on? Okay, Here's my problem. I had a slow drain in my bathroom. Think so. I plunged it. And that was all cool when through draining grate now, But I used to think The water, you know, supposed go down the drain comes back up into my tub and my tub won't drain. Okay, well, then the issue there. Maybe That, Maggie that where you got the sink, and then you got the tub going. It all goes into one. Common stack line. And that's where the clog is. It's not necessarily your sink, since the sink is a smaller diameter. Drain you probably. You know, I didn't think it was my think. Let me give you a little backstory here. I tried riding through the, um that line if you want to call it, Dan. Lunch. I believe my plunger is stuck because I see a screw them coming up out of it. It never hit out. Like like that little tail thing you know, they're supposed to go up and down on your drain, I believe is what the house but overhead. It tried removing that thing. The plunger and I believe it's stuck in the line in the pipe, and I cannot pull it out howto I pulled it out. I mean, the snake that you tried to use, not the plunger. Are you talking about? Are you talking about Are you Wait? Are you talking about the vanity sink where the stopper goes up and down. None. And I'm talking about the bathtub this time. I'm not worried about things that I think is working. Good. Okay, but the bathtub you're talking about the pop up that's in the bathtub. See, I don't have a pop up. It was just a screen on a drain in the top. You know where your vent line in? You mean the overflow? Yeah, the overflow. I believe there's like Ah, that little then plunger stuck in there. You mean for the handle? Have did you unscrew the over? Did you unscrew the overflow? Yet here, Okay, So let's tribe and you and you put something in that overflow like a snake or what did you put in there? Or is that just the lever that's in there?.

"Break. This is really the decompression from Super Bowl Week. This is probably came one week too late but here we are President's Day weekend exciting. So let's bring the energy and close out this local hour by going to call mailing jobs in okay. You want to do that unless I purposely said that with low energy broke my leg and you can go to calls by the way Mike. I was listening back to call yesterday. You randomly asking a caller out of nowhere like what was it. What Color Your Eyes? That was funny thank you. It was so random. Appreciate you Stephen and Kalamazoo what's good. Hey what's going on? How are you doing? What were you doing before. What was that because I noticed right when he said your name. You kinda like like like you weren't listening. You didn't have your phone. I screwed this up just starting. I was just walking out of my office. I'm embarrassed to talk to us and I would be early in Kalamazoo Roy absolutely fully. I did I did not do that. It's right I think it's racist. Let's not experiment is on Roy. You did is really wrong that you would not billy wrong. Bilden say that someone did this. Did I admit to that right? Yes button was that have to do with him? Case in point those are two completely different. Cases just needs to settle down these very clear at least talks at least. You're not defensive about it. Stephen Calm Down. I need to calm down. Calm the situation down. Good Steven what good. Well I was running errands the other Dan lunch cheap but I was short on time and so I said to myself. Oh just Get Gas after work. A couple of gas stations on the way home to be no big deal I got out of work and gas at forty cents and instead of just stopping at the gas station you Keep onto the nicely I station. Now forty cents. Well last gas station before I get home still had the cheap gas pull them filled up even though it does amount much money. It feels like a little bit. That's what's good all right. All Right Steven what. What is your strategy on when to fill up you guys have the range thing even Shishir the re on your cars the cars with the range you see when your gas is going to be emptied you got the yellow light okay. Mine are going to see from five. Hundred DOWN. And one is your. I need to get gas moment like when a yellow light comes on a round sixty miles sixty. I tried to go like half one. Oh so you're like me. I love playing a dangerous game. I know my house thirty eight miles. I drove home yesterday with forty five women. Here run out of gas in their car blown. I've also learned. Oh yes I guess Roy did. I was actually because you're not running a gas. I'm surprised because I owe your own interest game and sometimes I'll I'll come to work. Let's say forty five miles left on my thing. I have thirty eight miles to work. I'll drive to work and then I'm like all right students after we're GONNA have to get gas I've gotten onto I ninety five and be like Oh crap. Alessia dashes when the rain gone. But I've learned because of this that you have at least in my car at least ten or fifteen miles pass that because I was just like turning my ear off trying to you know and then I got to a gas station every time I get to actually run out. There have been times where I'm like. I'm low on gas but I need to get to work and if I stop at the gas station will be laid right like being here on time for the local hour. So I'll be like okay. I'll just go to work and after work I'll go to the gas stations near work but those are tax. So just get me enough to give me the KENDAL. I fill up in Kendal because bleep the sister classic five dollar pump. What are you what you on your range. When do you feel like I need to get gas pump? My wife is like the opposite of me. She hates the wedding. She gets gasoline. One hundred miles. She quarter of a mile point than it. Yes I'd like to think I used to be a half tank guy like if I was at half black I would go in and fill it up. It's been a long. Yeah I like quarter tank if I'm at a quarter tank it's time to. I like a fun. Game to forty miles probably like forties usually like when the light turns on. I am driving driving new car. I sort of inherited my wife's old car and we got a new car and SUV JEEP. For you know we got a baby now. That jeep is amazing on gas. Incredible you wouldn't believe it's incredible on Gal so much better than I hate. I'm stuck in a car that I hate. This is not the car that I picked out. I don't like it it's white. It's just it gets super dirty. I've had bad experiences in this. Feel like the wheel rocks and so bad on gas and I just need to get the hell out of this car. I'm forty you ever been. You have been with car that you just flatly didn't want it's torture is like this is not my life. I didn't pick this imagine. Yeah it's awful. We go out now to Jesse who needs our advice. Jessie how can we help you? Jay Man well. I'm scared that's going to be another Oscar. Reto call so like the pivot sticks basketball. Well we'll do that later. "I have skilful clams and lots of saying the clam will pop and you'll be off to the side talking to someone and you'll you'll lose some clam juice so you got to be vigilant you have to bring people over to the firepit next to you too what could you do this on your gas grill yes you totally can everyone has a gas grill and the fireplace. Exactly I'm a Weirdo I don't have a big green egg smoke things I have a gas girl in a firepit the firepit is mainly for s'mores but then I felt guilty that we were only building there's just to make a few s'mores every night and I decided we needed to be more versatile in our fire pit cooking so I introduced a few more recipes to the firepit sounds like the perfect summer dinner to me you can just do them right on the gas grill greats and or you could even put a cast iron skillet on the grill and do them within route two or again meeting you're just get on your stove top but again microwave the corn to steam it gerwig proponent of every summer we've had this wild guess she's talked about microwave popcorn oh my gosh fighting words well we'll have to have you back when she gets back from maternity leave and you can about it I love corn anyway anyway it's cooked so I will be timing the microwave oh my problem with microwave corners people let it overcook but I bet she's got a trigger finger so I mean I'm sure she has it worked out to a science time the thing with corn corn peak season my feeling is it barely needs any cooking it all exactly almost eat it right off the the cops have making it hot like that's really what I'm like screw method you just your heating up so anyway well that all sounds quite delicious and very summary and even if if I do it inside I'll try to just imagine that I did I wanted to talk to you about your unconventional meal planning needs because even though we both have husband husband's name Dan our dinner lives with our husbands are quite different in that I eat dinner with my husband almost thirty nine my life with your husband right correct I actually when I read your writing about how you danner eating your salads together I get Pang sometimes because we have such weird eating schedules at our house but why why is that what's the what's the deal so so I am a freelancer my gig life is a little bit unpredictable sometimes and my husband works at night he's I love the homepage editors at Mlb Dot Com Major League baseball site so he works when the Games are playing because that's when the news happens at MLB DOT com so instead of having a sad desk lunch he has said desk dinner every night and I want to make sure that he gets a good dinner every night since it's normally happening around nine or nine thirty and how do you do that so we have started meals planning this year for the first time ever in my culinary life I always just kind of flew by the seat of our pants with mixed results and finally this year I all I did was just make an excel spreadsheet with columns for lunch Dan Lunch Casey Dinner Dan Dinner Casey and I fill in the grid every week with a specific meal assigned to each mealtime and I try to do it so so we are repeat we are fine with eating leftovers in fact that's how this whole thing works is that I make a bunch of stuff on Sunday and Monday usually and we meet it out throughout the week so hence the meatballs if you make big batch of meatballs each of us will get two meals worth of meatballs per week to be done with whatever I have decided to me balls are going to do and are you trying to make mix and match things we are trying to make some mix and match things for instance when say we're making rahman Dan doesn't eat soup he doesn't like hot liquids so my Rahman will have broth his we'll have just enough to cook the noodles and he knows how to do it now so he doesn't have to have horrible bowl of Broth I'll usually he'll usually do it right before he leaves box it all up and take it in and I also now work in the city two days a week so I'm taking lunches in to the office every week that also needs to be boxed up and brought in so in the fridge there'll be jammie eggs for my Rahman Sauteed Bok Choy for both of our Rahman Rama noodles both of us roasted tomatoes from Myron but and for him he might have some green beans with his so everything is like you make what you want but the meal is Rahman and it's on the grid four times so we get to Rahman meals a week and that's how it goes it's good for not only scheduling and transportability but also suiting like you're getting picky eater preference passes you're more adventurous palate and his pickier pal yes there are sometimes when we do find one meal that works for both of us and we divide that up as is but a lot of times we even even with salads like my salads more like your salads and his or more chicken Caesar Chicken Caesar though but I'll grill up chicken breasts for both of us and then he will put his chicken breasts with his stuff I will do my thing with mine so do you make like multiple grilled chicken breasts on Sunday or Monday and yeah yeah Gotcha anything else like what else are you making quantity over the weekend for mix and match meals trying to think of some other things we did recently I think things that he won't eat at all is I will make a huge batch of crispy baked Tofu for myself and yeah that into meals for the week you know I love Tofu I know I was the meal I'm having in her tonight I made it earlier this week and it is a lemongrass pork recipe that is also on good food stories dot com it is deep in the archives folks this is sp that has been kicking around our kitchen for a really long time and it's something that Dan has only been recently coming around to so I feel a deep sense of satisfaction on that but it involves setting up a bunch of ground pork and seasoning it and then you can have it with brown rice white rice we're we're brown rice we can do keen bulger whatever green you want so it's kind of a grain bowl base but as I was doing the ground pork this week I thought man I bet you can make this half forecast tofu no one would be the wiser because you're mixing it with all those amazing flavors like Ginger Lemon Grass garlic shallots and strong let us know the next round of meal planning when the poor comes back around as an inspiration that's a really good idea yeah I'm very excited for this pork and I love Tofu but there is something good about cutting meat like pork with Tofu because I mean it is healthier right less saturated fat more fiber and you know we cut a lot of the meat in this recipe anyway with green jeans and bell peppers and whatever vegetables we have around two given mix and match like use whatever vegetables you want with us and do you guys lunch together most days it really depends on what time he wakes up in the morning because if he gets home at four am he'll probably be up in time for lunch but they in sixteen innings in Anaheim last night so he got home after I had already gotten up this morning wow so avon my own today so we zero meals together until the weekend well he's very lucky as he says husband Scott as is my Dan to be married to a food writer who's pressing that would everyone tells you all the time tells him all the time you should marry a food writer can like it's it's great it's like having a personal chef all the time but you have to be appreciative dream part of artists cannot wait to have so this is our what we're loving segment tell us all what you're living well it's available now nationwide in pints but there is a Brooklyn based ice cream company called ample hills which is named after a line from the Walt Whitman Poem I lived Brooklyn Ample Hills was mine is the quote specifically and they are my favorite ice cream brand around here not just because I like to make their flavors at home I have a ton of ice cream cookbooks and I really like the way they do their ice cream base specifically book they do they have the ample hills creamery cookbook and they use nonfat dry milk powder in their base as well as doing an egg custard base and texture for texture and I recently wrote about this again on good food stories dot com I did a goat cheese ice cream inspired by fares are used their base says my jumping off point so you can see how they do it on that recipe but their flavors that they come up with when I'm not fooling around with their own based recipe are just so weird and inventive but not in like weird for weirdness sake kind of way like no blue cheese and pair in there I'm looking at assaulting Straw but they're just really fun quirky awesome flavors what are some examples well Dan's favorite which again I have made a homemade version of in the past is there snap mallow pop flavor which has bits of rice crispy treats in it which it's really sweet and that's kind of why I have to temper it when we go to the shop with something like their cookie ole which is a coffee ice cream flavor they always do shops specific flavors for every single one of their I believe ten shops in New York and New Jersey now so they're a story AH queens sign up for our newsletter catch up on past episodes and check out our show that local mouthful dot com until next time happy eating.

Illinois yongki big news yesterday came as quite as the price of the market. The first four gordon contract settled down the twenty five cent limit started the day lower but then we win limit down after eleven o'clock and the crop production estimates scrum from abc statistics we shed eighty two million acres and an average yield of one hundred sixty nine point five bushels an acre but the corn crop this year thirteen point nine billion bushels about eight hundred million bushels more than the average of analysts estimates so it means. We're a bit lower as well just pulled down down by corn. There was a bit bullish. Seventy five point nine million acres at an average yield of forty eight and a half bushels breaker aim with production of three point six eight billion bushels of corn. Certainly the story with its limit move now. Difficult prospects joe camp with agrivisor. Yeah we can talk about acres. We'll still there's a math and and and pencil out where we think those might ultimately land. If we get some additional adjustments like would expect any year like this but it was the yield number that really surprised me just generally speaking if we look at where we been nationally speaking record yields for corner at one hundred seventy six and some change for twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen to have right now yielded one hundred hundred and fifty nine and a half bushels per acre down just four percent from those records still kinda hard to reconcile for me right now joe camping agrivisor. We'll get into that a little bit later when we talked to our crop watcher for illinois average yield was said one hundred eighty one bushels per acre her total acres cording to ten point seven million harvested is expected to be ten point four five million at one hundred in eighty one bushels an acre that puts production at one point eight nine billion bushels for soybeans expectations for ten million acres nine point nine four or million harvested acres at a yield of fifty five bushels per acre that puts production five hundred forty six million bushels for this year's. There's production by the way f._s._a. Had its numbers released yesterday. Hopefully down the road this this year is one for for the record books <hes> not in a good way but <hes> certainly one for the record record books weatherwise and we just don't know the extent of this disaster and we're not gonna know the extent of it until until after harvest until we get to combine the field and the grains and the vans are in the elevator and then we're gonna have a then. I do chocolate peanut butter advocate shake at lunch. I want one now. It's not good. I'll tell you that. It's not. It's not bad. He's just not. It's not good bad, but I'll have pizza. Yeah. I mean, that's sort of with those with all those shakes and stuff like that. It's like, don't ask if it's good. You're, you're not going to get good. You're the best you can hope for is not bad. The best. Okay. All right. All right. All right. I don't think. Yeah. I mean, I can't. I can't imagine selling this shit to a patient. Imagine turning the screws on a patient about like, hey, you've got this. You know, you've got some Perio and you need Ortho and you need a few restorations. And what about some b. c. a. as in. I just. I'm not a nutritionist. It just seems incongruent with everything else that we're trying to do. So I just don't. I don't get it. It's not. I think here absolutely. Katie. This person used this award nomination as an excuse to try to sell her. Feels like there was no other reason to congratulate her on this nomination. Oh, okay. Now, like if it was organic and then we're really some things to congrat- or they're like, it was a heartfelt. Congratulations. Yeah, there were at least be some conversational discourse that happens before you could tell hard sell of, have you heard of Dr Rodin and Dr fields, which is a buck wild way to put that that is so crazy to me like Dr Rodin and Dr fields. Yeah. Like, what are those new oral surgeons in the area. Well, it was Sepah lunch and learn. We're good. Much learns how many reps come your office lunch and learns so many an okay. How's this? I had twice this week to I somehow someone got past my goalie and. And. But my system seem to really like it. So she got some free lunch. So I'm like, all right, fine. I'll sit through this. I can feed her. Yeah, it's. And what was the product? Fuck. I don't know. I last straighten her from Rhodesia. I don't understand. Are you trying to grow more. Dude, you don't get it. I want it to be longer or apparently they, they want them longer and thicker, which dudes. Can I get it extent, but I don't think that there's some. There's some thing I'm gonna rub on it. That's gonna do that. I think I would have found it right. It'll get longer and thicker. Yes, I'm gonna stay that way. That's the problem. Give you ten minutes and it's. Yeah. Okay. Oh, no. Yeah, I know Neo Dan lunch today, so, yeah. Okay. Good times. It's a Dennis selling MLM stuff. I, I feel like there's probably some states where it's illegal. Number one. Like I've probably I feel like there's something about the sort of scheming of that that I would be willing to bet in some states. It's in the dental practice that, okay, you can't be like selling, you know, I don't know. There's probably some limitation on that and then so in Texas, at least I don't know if Washington's the same way as their sales tax on. On dental, like on dentistry. If I came to you to get four veneers in my paying tax on that or no, none of the nears, but I, I'm not sure on products there is well. So that's the thing. So I, at least in Texas. If it's, you know, if it's if it's like five thousand parts per million, sodium, fluoride toothpaste or whatever. Or if it's a toothbrush that is basically you're prescribing somebody, you know. There's if it's something that you're prescribing for someone that's like for dental use, at least in the state of Texas. Don't quote me on this everywhere. There's no connects on it. But has tax on it. This is. You know your eyelash straighten or whatever. It's going to have tiny. It's a cosmetic..
