"This is the rich eisen show to the richeisenshow. Ben lyons in for rich hanging out with the guys as always you can be a part of the show does hit us up at rich eisen. Show that conversation rich had with damian lewis was from three years ago and some of the themes that ridge brought up in the in. The interview seem rather relevant. Now don't they guys Man it's really interesting. It's really interesting. He had some comments where he thinks that you know they're not close but it doesn't seem like he's close to demanding a trade right. It's an interesting thing that's happened in the nba. Since the gotcha final. This is the ten year anniversary of the gotcha finals. Two thousand eleven is the first time in my memory. I remember the collective energy around the sport basketball was gotcha. You said you were going to win. Four five and six miami and you did and jj berea shut you down in game for which happened at happened. It happened but since then some other stuff has happened to. And that's a whole other conversation regarding lebron. But i bring this up because the collective energy around basketball changed. Now there seems to be a villain. There's somebody who receives the vitriol from the collective because of choice of wanting to switch teams. Which is absolutely ridiculous about chemo life. Tj doing awesome. Job here. I know how much you love working here. You talked about last week on your off week. While i was in doing the show you would have loved to come in for a segment. You love hate to tell you. If dan levitan calls with a big check some tells you might be going to miami. Okay it's okay and you'll get a lotta love from everybody here too rich and and chrissy might be a little salty at first. Who else are they going to make fun of the cowboys to show. Go on. but you'll be allowed to switch teams and not have the entire sports media world screaming for your death. You're probably right damian. Lillard doesn't know if he's going to have that option or not. He signs up for this. He might come with all this other stuff. Which is totally understandable. If somebody in his position is quick to sign up for that or to be hesitant about that or genuinely on a human level conflicted so this this narrative around okay and i. It was lebron and it's k. d. Then it's ad now it's lillard and there's always going to be a guy who's who fans are either pushing out or pushing to see if they double down on staying was almost honest last year exactly and i think that's a big reason why milwaukee's having success. They got that out of the conversation. And by the way Ben this is probably going to be delightful. Newsweek to your ears. It's going to be zion next year because it's already started. Zion is going to be with his third head coach in threes. Nba seasons fourth. If you count coach k. And he is going to get that. He started up himself with mecca comments when the ken's played the knicks. You know a few months ago and it's going to happen again and it's going to happen every single year. There's someone huge. That's up in free agency. I wonder if our radio audience can hear my smile. It's enormous it's ear. Great thank you. It's like ben. Affleck says in that poker movies as you can see my smile. It's ear to ear comes to mind i. I'm a huge fan of christopher known We're gonna talk a little bit about the anniversary of the dark knight later on in the show but one of the other great films is inception and one of my goals this week. Coming in to fill in for rich on the rich eisen show ben lines here in studio was to inception the zion conversation to mark and it worked in the second segue until wednesday drew holiday throwing up that alleyoop speaker jrue holiday. We talked about this. And we'll get we'll figure out what happens with dame he'll either say something or not say something over the two weeks japan august versus the new july first them before the draft or they hold onto him after the draft. I i don't. I think you'll be in portland for long term. I think i kind of him. Demanding a trader low very low. It's just kinda hyped right now teams already sampling cheese steak skies of the philly variety. You mentioned i mentioned holiday. And we celebrate the gronkowski family and those other bras. Don't even play these crush life right. We were they. Were backup fullback. We celebrate anyone. Who's got the name manning. It could be a second cousin twice. Removed playing high school somewhere in the region. Right now right at six on six in texas. There's a manning's lighten it up right and everybody goes nuts. Holidays onto the kudos. They got five guys in the nba finals or they're five dollars in the nba six guys in the nba six guys guys in the nba finals. Yeah yeah yeah. Three the final six in the nba. If you took a family of janas family druze family cartridge. Let's throw in the curry's and the morris family four families can can. I get some titles and four years from that team about that. It's incredible you need to celebrate the holiday family and if you break it down by position to you got you got staffing. Mvp's yup he got. He got nba champions inside outside inside outside size. Versatility you got the morris brothers hudson's for tougher dacians grit you've got you've got depth. They always talk about. When you're guarding a great player your beloved brooklyn nets the brooklyn globetrotters. You have so many memories of going out to the barklays just so many nights that game. Seventy loss at home against nate robinson and the bulls that eat set. You still the diehards. In brooklyn i digress. But the idea that could that team go out there and compete with some of the great family like the great other teams in the nba. Right now the tea and that's what we were asking before the show is could that team those four families. The curry's the attentive kudos the morris. Brothers holiday holidays could they beat a healthy brooklyn nets and a seven game series. Could they beat healthy eastern conference. All stars yonathan steph andrew holiday. There's your big three. You gotta be bigger..

"In particular in all his music. It's not what we would traditionally think of as trance inducing music where the temple has to stay the same. It doesn't mean it couldn't also invoke kind of altered state of consciousness. It's just that the mechanism by which it did that isn't as clear because that type of thing has been relatively less studied. That's Dan Levitan, neuroscientist musician himself author of many books, including This Is Your Brain On Music. That Audio was from a documentary called The Art of Austad Elahi, which I worked on for a number of years. Which was premiered at the Met Museum the night after the performance, you're about to hear so one of the other things that Levitan says in the film is, you know there's a long history of musicians intuitively getting To the effects of music on the mind centuries before the neuroscience ever caught up with it, And you hear a lot of the kind of signifiers of a musician trying to Get inside your head through all three of the pieces that we're hearing on this edition of new sounds so things like repetition and then pulling away from the repetition and changing it. You know, so that you don't get into a kind of glassy eyed trance state, but you're kind of hyper focused those sorts of things. You hear that in the psychedelia of Pink Floyd and in the cover that we heard by Rodrigo and Gabriela, and now you'll hear it in this live recording from the stage of the Grace Raining Rogers Auditorium at the Met. This is Sharon Salahi performing a work by his father, Ustad. Allah. He This is the Shah Hosseini sweet played on a three string instrument known as the ton bore. Mm. Mm. Mm hmm. Oh, Mm Mhm. No problem. Yeah. Million. Mhm. Everything. But Oh, thank you. Okay? Mm hmm. That is Sharrock Elahi Doctor Sharrock Alaa. He performing music by his father, the 20th, century Iranian mystic and composer Austad Elahi. That's the shot. Hussaini sweet. Ah! Lot of strange parallels between three very different works on this edition of new sounds. But like the Pink Floyd Saul echoes and like LaMonte, Young's well tuned piano, which will be hearing next It's a lot of small, discreet, almost scenes, in fact, or start a lot. He used to describe these sweets as a series of scenes or pictures that unfolded in his mind as he played. Lot. He died in 1974. His son Shah Rock is the keeper of his musical tradition is elder son Bahram is the sort of the keeper of his mystic philosophical tradition. They're both doctors. And it is the elder son who secretly recorded his father and the reason that we know this music at all. And that performance that you heard was from the Grace rainy Rogers Auditorium here in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where you can actually See or start a lot. He's tan bore this modest three string lute that he has somehow transformed from a simple folk instrument into something with all these rich overtones and harmonic depth to it. He did that by adding a third string. The traditional Tom bore only had two And so that's Sharrock. Allah he his son performing his music there, and in a moment we will hear the third of our pieces that that aim to get inside your head. Again using purely acoustic means in this case, a completely retuned piano. We'll hear from Lamont Young in just a moment as we continue with new sounds. I want more new sounds. "Wish you guys. We're seeing all your favorite guys right now. First of all pure rim rest the hell is then break from anal sex. I understand what that phrases. I mean dan. Now that you're a big businessman of your own. Do you have any more sympathy for the nba. Pushing their employees to the breaking point does it relentless pursuit of profit at the expense of human wellbeing. Make more sense to you now that you're rolling in in draftkings cash at least theoretically. I haven't been naive about these things historically but even i have been surprised at the way. The corporate greed has turned these bodies into disposable things that can be thrown into a meat grinder because it has soiled these. Nba playoffs for me. The obvious way that the bodies have been broken by the need to satisfy the television contracts. It's distorted the product the measurement and the champion for me. I'm surprised to say that. Actually folks can't see this because it's a podcast but the whole time dan wearing a top hat and has a monocle and he's not even sitting on a chair he's sitting on the stack of human beings. There's got pound up there. His crew and dan. It's not like these injuries are coming out of nowhere. I mean most of these guys who are heard guys a long history of injuries carry ad. In why i mean maybe it's simply that if these guys spend enough time in the playoffs together their injuries sync up. Like thermo like menstrual cycle. Maybe that's it like a menstrual cycle. Yeah like you know how. We'll get on the same cycle if they're around each other because they're pheromones ramones kick in and all of a sudden you know the kind of going at the same time. Maybe that's what's going on with these. nba injuries. You want to attack the menstrual cycle. I really don't know out to. We are shocked. That corporations jim Don't care about people and only wanna make money. I am shocked. That were shocked by that to be honest with you and the guy. I'm tired of seeing late in. The postseason is lebron. I mean i'm. I'm perfectly fine without these playoffs. Played out kevin durant. I have a new found respect for him. Because he's trotting around with jeff green and and blake griffin and so on perfectly fine like devon booker verse janas in the nba finals to me. That's fantastic totally agree. I'm disappointed in the injuries. I agree with you about the corporate greed. But i can't deny that there's a part of me. That's a little glad we're not going to see the nets in the finals. I mean 'cause that team when healthy was just so undeniably the super the super teams then winning a championship. That just would have been boring. And we like watching. Let me just tell you tom. Habits so right now. It's been missing for the last eighteen hours. I learned i love for bomani about marvin ariza. Okay i mean we care. Thank you well. I'm gonna give you some some weird breaking news in that. I got a police report. Not a police. Report a hotel report from the delano of one of those joke ditch brothers just destroying a hotel room and being banned from the premises like a year ago. Wow because it's one of those guys if you didn't see the video of this juju sent it out and it went viral because those guys look rabid and you have to be put it on the poll guillermo. Are you a crazy person. If you wear a cammo shirt under a basketball jersey probably saw the towel policy. That's gonna be one hundred percent. People looked rabbit. People we've told you before about. Just be careful in general with the war torn country stuff for example. None of you want any part of a book donovan. None of you just be very careful with with all of that. Put that on the podium at lebatardshow. Do any of you brow really. put it this way. Really think about this percents. Never saw himself as a loaf of bread. His brothers are nuts and they looked rabid. One of them looked absolutely rabid. Did you see this video. That people got scared for the same reason because they are drooling frosting six foot nine people that look like they're just made of granite of of bone cartilage. And if you hit them nothing will happen other than on yourself. You'll hurt your fist. I just saw a lot of people just recoil. With some fear of luck that feels all foreign. It feels like something that you see as a bodyguard in the movie hostel outside of a place where they torture human beings. You just don't want anything to do with joke itches. Brothers i feel like we all had the same sort of visceral. Recoil of those people have lived more than i have. Those people have more scars than i do. Those people would disembowel me with like tools in their glove. Compartment habur stroz. They were like playfully throwing knives at each other right. I mean that's.
