"I wanted to be entrepreneurs and in return. They said to me. Hey will train the on what on what we do. I'm like i'm thirty nine. I'm training him. I made my buddy. Who's dan henderson. Who tim knows. Who's getting ready for. A couple of fights only to find out that these seals heavily have zero or no enemy hanrahan training and the reason is because the navy doesn't want doesn't want them within three feet of their opponent. They want them to sniper. They want them to collect the intel. Get it back to the pentagon and move on there. Are there to get in there to get out. But if they lose one the seals it's eight million dollars prosciutto plus all all the millions of dollars. They're spending on the weapons drones the tanks the all that stuff so they started to train with us. Dan henderson and went one day. Were training and i got choked out got caught in a choke. Normal thing happens in mma. Everyone will do it. Be a choke. Submission thought nothing of it. I went home on that night. Sending my wife at the time. I've two young kids who are four years old in eighteen months really had a newborn at the house wives so you know so feeding her sizzle breastfeeding her. And i was doing my thing. I was building my companies. But what i was doing. The sign was really trying to understand. He's military guys and it's one on navy seal would bring by his team. Whose team seven and next thing. I know i'd come home during the day. And there'd be like a group of guys in my front yard just hanging out overlooking the water drinking my beer or having the food. And i was like yes. Help yourself to my frigerator. Whatever's mine is yours. I always loved given back. But what i realized. Is that when you drink so much. Alcohol and numb the brain it really. It really starts to hurt that person and these guys started. Go missing on me. So the only way for me to really understand them was get them into training martial arts so i would take them with me and i understood what they were gonna what what was actually happening but they were so badly injured internally it was invisible because because the in the pac that these guys are all brain-damaged you have one hundred ten jumps from an airplane. Hi here hi. Lo your body gets rattled. You break into a A house but see for on the door the first eight guys of of that unit are all concussed so the brain is getting rock..

"But to me. I'm not a big fan of serving. Leadership leaders lead bagels. 'cause it being a fighter jet right like you have to be out front and leaders lead from the front not from the rest of the crowd and they britain can reach back and bring people up with them to their ranks but they don't step back to lead. I've spent a tremendous amount of time thinking about this. Just i can't get over this like servant leadership thing. I'm like you know i know it's about serving others and stuff like that but fundamentally leaders the best leaders already do that they already have a mind to keep keep create strong bonds with their team Keep them together but they lead from the front. They don't leave the back. Yeah and dan henderson. And i hate to keep going back to. Somebody says a lot of stuff makes a lot sense on upcoming podcast. He said true leaders create leaders create. They don't they don't try to hoard l. power for themselves they create leaders and empower other people under team to be leaders and to be superstars and as far as leadership styles. I agree that there's different leader. Leadership styles You can you know lead from the front dependent on this situation and again it depends but i think the key to being an effective leader is awareness awareness of myself awareness of my employees. Or if i'm talking about a certain employ an example would be In this had to be pointed out to me. Because i didn't see it. I would always at one point i was the bottleneck and i still tend to be sometimes i. I'm not so much anymore. A lot better with that. But to the bottleneck in my business. Because i want everything i wanted everything to slow through me right. And how was tyrant in bully. You know this is the way. I want it and this is my business and i'm going to be here. I'm not going anywhere. So you better get on board Found it people. Did i had a lot of turnover. People don't work wanna work for that type of leader. So and then. I found out that i try to put too much my plate in then stuff falls through the cracks so if i had like a meeting where the trainer you know and i say all you know what john. I'm sorry after got out. Have this other meeting. I need to go here. You know i apologize. We can reschedule for me. I'm thinking okay. I'm busy 'cause i'm doing every trying to do. Take care of everything l. These responsibilities. I'm trying to run the business you'll understand. That have a lot on my plate. What he sees is okay. He blew me off for another meeting so he must think his time is more important than.

"And he gave an insult. It was meant as an insult that kamara whose men over the years has fallen in love with his hands. And i realized in the world of insults like that's low fodder however it is leon try to give an assessment of look. I'm understanding uis. Men and who's men is becoming more one dimensional. That is what he was saying by fall up with his hands. And you know what. That's a real thing. I don't know that. I have seen kamara osmond do it. I will look for it now. Now that leon is brought it to my attention. I will look for a little bit. What i have seen with uis man is that he is using his hands a lot to set up his wrestling still. He is a threat of wrestling at all times. He was a major threat to gilbert burns at all times. He had a little bit of hesitation of going to the ground. Strategically stayed on his feet with kobe. Covington he an kobe through wrestling out. They just knew each other and respected each other. So this probably isn't gonna work. Let's go to plan b. They both they both came to the same opinion which we didn't know until the referee said. Are you ready. And it turned into an absolute war on their feet. I bring it to you. Because i'm not. I'm not positive that leon's right even though if you go back and you look at the recent fights the last three to four by uis men. They were very standard heavy. that's true i just. I just think they were done for strategic reasons. I think you're respected gilbert on the ground. I think the same thing with moslem. I think he was getting ready to take down. I think he did. Throw that a out against kobe covington but if you back up before that to the night. He won the championship which was a terribly long ago. It was all ground game. So i don't know that i'm ready to label. Who's been with that yet. But leon most certainly has the right to his opinion and particularly if he's going to be his future opponent that would play right into leon's hand. I don't know if leon would wanna be pointing that out. But the best thing that leon could do is in a put a standup battle with us. Men and whether that works out or not. That's the best thing that he could do. I don't think you want us been coming out there tackling. You're staying on top of your grinding on you. I don't think and that's a golf term fell in love with. It's a guy falls in love with his swing so golf term but it is fear and i've seen it a number times the only guy i've really seen at work out for the duration of his career is my teammate dan henderson. Dan was a two time olympic wrestler. Nobody would have known good hands including himself turns out near the same set of every time he changed pop back up through a right down the middle and it was so hard even call it h. I felt that thing. I couldn't even tell you how many times he was a natural and didn't miss even practice. He just had an accuracy he had a power that was natural hit a time. He had a setup that was natural. Who's changed elevations just like you do wrestling comeback. Everything just fit. It worked out for him. I have seen josh cost. Check would be guilty of fall in love with his right hand. Johny hendricks would fall into that category. Now i'm talking about the best guys in the world so i don't know that there's any kind of an insult here. It is true though that over a period of time you will lend to from a psychological standpoint. Whatever gets you the most oohs and aahs from the crowd. Ooh you will just naturally gravitate in that area. And sometimes you'll convince yourself i'm okay and then you'll go out and have a good performance. I mean i would imagine if i'm an shoes. And i just knocked out mazda. It'll turn him sideways by the way. Never seen that before. Who's been hit. Mazda also square and so clean the muslim who turned sideways for the for the follow of shot that put. I'm just saying. Yeah i yeah. I bet who's been does really believe in his hands shore. I could also see where that would be a problem. I mean that's a shootout game who's been played that game with burns just two fights ago and who's been got hurt twice now. He worked his way through it. He pushed through it. I give him credit. I'm not faulting shared with you. How risky that game is for sure. And i'm not sure if i was who's been opponent or future opponent. I would tip him off to his weaknesses. Used to study guys all the time. And it wasn't me was clayton. Hires but clayton was a master of it. He was a master and he could see everything and he would point things out and he would tell it to me. One time clayton would study my opponents. Call coaches run which is one of the hardest workouts i've ever done. But the coaches run wasn't the coaches runs. Were coach does it with me. So we meet. We go to pace. We talk the entire time. That is the one and only time clayton. I would strategized that was it. That was the talk. Whatever i absorbed in took with me for the next ten weeks. That was the talk and remember nate. Marquardt getting ready to fight. Nate markwort and i was a two and a half to one underdog. And i had trained would nate before mate. Should have been the favourite going in this fight but clayton had notice something and it was real simple but he used to compare nate to a drag car. A drag car will fire up and then it will go one thing that always did and it was an every video and every sequence of every fight that clayton studies before nate would come after you shake i every time never miss. He was a drag. He get warmed up and then boom he would come at you put every time it faking jab throw right it was a fake right. Throw a right fake throw kick. It wasn't these things he would do. Emotion and then he would come at you full sprint. He put a lot of guys down. Just before me put damian my down in like ten seconds but he bill. He did the drag car i he did it. Every single time was a major benefit that i had and i waited for that drag car boom and that's when i went attack i knew i had a beat. I knew that. I had to beat before he could get off. And it's a real thing. I do it too. I don't know what my tendencies are tells are. I don't know. I changed them if i knew. But i can't tell you habits or a real thing when you learn on the midst and then you go to the heavy bag and then you go to the ring. There's things that you develop and you can't get around them. They become absolute habit right. You comb your hair the same every day. Put your dirhams. You brush.

"Like I feel like he doesn't actually, you know, take it as serious as Colby Covington and it showed because I think you got two guys and if they put the same work ethic in I think it's a different game. But Kobe doesn't skip he doesn't Skip and that's what showed also, you know, I was watching this fight thinking of a couple points, but one of them I go bad. Imagine if Kobe had more often power, right? How dangerous would he be if he had one punch, but then I thought you know what that's probably a blessing and Colby's case because you look at all these guys who start off as long lers you look at guys like Tyron Woodley Josh Koscheck, you'll Romero John Dodson even put you could put Dan Henderson Cody garbrandt just engaged in the fight that he lost track where they got they fell in love with their power and they stopped they stopped all the punches. They stopped throwing hundreds of that except the wrestling Colby knows he doesn't have that bulb lights out and that's why he's so affected. He hasn't he doesn't rely on the punching power. He doesn't stand back and go like an endless fight with her around if I get the right shot. He just is a consistent birth. Horse and it showed McCorkle thoughts. Yeah, I was just the whole time. I was watching I kept wondering why who would Shang the most likely politically aligned with it's just confusing between the two of them. I don't know which side showing would be all on their political views. Like I have no idea what mystery told me was wondering but I know think about election page news for the same way forward mean obviously husband's better than what at this point, but I was saying the whole fight. I wish Kobe would take him down just once like just tried giving your whole one time going there and shoot a double and he can do any track him down and change the whole fight. I thought man was able to control the whole round and I was able to do it again later. So that's kind of like you said, I think he just decided with his finger. He couldn't or didn't want to risk it. But if he when Colby off kitchen range, he's going to be hard to beat man, you know, I knew that would be still got that big right hand, but Colby did a great job all fighter statement with then just within kicking range. You know punching range and as long he's throwing his leg kicks and those front kicks off. You're not going to go catch you with a big right hand, you know, so his new kit cuz that went when he left his Camp I go. Oh no, this is yeah. This is going to end bad, you know usually guys to start their own Camp it never it works out. I could rarely say when it hasn't worked out I could say could say when it hasn't worked out plenty of times versus what it has worked out but you think maybe his new camp had a better strategy than his okay to switch things up..

"When it ever CDC get tired I never never never hear. The people that he beat. Jeff. Monson Josh Barnett bigfoot, Silva, Frank Mirror Rowing Nelson Dan Henderson granted. That was towards the end of Henderson's career Anthony Johnson twice. Rugged. Come on. The only person he ever fought that he didn't beat was a guy who cheated twice. who used to be my favorite fighter? I'm Kinda tired of a guy who can't even life correctly let alone fight correctly. So it's not a role model. Sorry. Now ever been one. Yeah. That's that's which is a tragedy guy could be. He could be one of the biggest stars on the planet I don't mean Justin UFC. Period if he would live his life correctly. unfortunately seems to have been able to do that so far. But back to DC, yeah this guy is and I hope he's done i. hope he's no so too. Because he doesn't need to come back could he couldn't come back and beat up yet he could come back and win five six more fights, I'm sure he could. You know they wouldn't be like no reason to top now he doesn't need to go in and get drilled by Francis Nagano. Although. Honestly could he be ensured? He could. Because his defense is damn good. Amazed a terrific fighter, but he is so likable such a great job as a commentator like dude goes. In. And the show will you've? Todd the believe in my heart heart's he's going to wind up in wwe land as. Now as a commentator. Okay well. That would. Be Weird. Place and cater part time talent. You know he could go in and fight brock or something. You know who don't want to see that I really don't WanNa see that 'cause I. Don't WanNa see Brock either speaking of cheaters are. So what I would like I want to see mark hunt in brock like in an alley someplace. Got Your. "This man is scary off. I mean, the way he landed. Those punches the way he was moving it. He just looks like a scary, dude. And came Alaska's is you know, he's not a big heavyweight, but nonetheless, he's always been able to you know, like even against Brock. He was able to impose his strength. Yeah. And yeah. And the way like, you know, in Ghana was just moving around him. I'm like, whoa. This is this is quite crazy. And I thought he got clipped, and that's that's what it was. And then people were saying he didn't even get punched. They were everybody was replying. I tweeted something out and getting a bunch of crazy replies. So I'm like, okay. Maybe I did jump the gun in this comment. Maybe I should wait to see the replay us all you saw it. I put up. On the Monday morning analyst. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. But I'm saying on Sunday. Yeah. Last night in real time. So then I'm like, maybe I jumped the gun. So then I waited till the replay and the replay just confirmed what I thought I don't think Cain was out. I mean, clearly he's not out because when he falls back he kind of screams in pain a little bit. So you know, you have to obviously be aware to do that. But I mean his head snapped back from that uppercut. It's not like FRA Francis through something. And then nothing happened. It's net his head snapped back. And then he kind of just fell and I've seen that play out. So many times I think probably the one that. I remember the most or a good example would be Hensel Gracie getting clipped I think by Dan Henderson, gentlemen with an uppercut. We're like you're like, wait. What happened? How did he get knocked out but due to landed? So yeah, I think dude in Gano landed connected drop them, you know, slightly just enough to get his legs underneath them. Then unfortunately injury thing. Do I think it hurt? Cain. No. Do I think slightly? What would I say hurt? I mean like. Oh, I feel pain. Like, if you get knocked out, you don't feel any pain. Right. Yeah. So when I say paying I mean, like, okay, I'm conscious of the discovery not do I remember it. Here's the thing. He was on a Drennan. Is this first time back people were screaming his name. It clearly made contact with them. And it wasn't like the foot just slipped out of nowhere. It made contact and only a problem when the wait began to quickly descend underneath him. Do I think that Cain being on a Drennan felt it like it hurt him? No, do I think came being on a Drennan. Maybe even remember it it probably not do the tape doesn't lie. Yeah. It did make contact with them. Now. Here's the thing. Remember when he finally ruled over and you could see him writhing in agony and holding his knee. He looked to be all there with it. Yeah. It was it was a flash knockdown. That's all it was it was a flash knockdown. So like did did did Francis. Bludgeoned him Bob bond that he was out, and then he was one of those clean TKO's. No. No. But it clipped them it. Hurt them. Get hurt in the cognitive sense. Yes. And he dropped his knee gave out and then that was the end of the fight. So it's the calm. It's yes. It's a combination of Francis. Having the most terrifying power, I think I've ever seen, but it wasn't a full on shot. But it was enough to cause enough problems within the joint integrity of his knee gave out I've made this point last night. How about macro Cup? Now. He got knocked all the way out when he fought Gabriel, Gonzaga. Remember his foot got twisted underneath. I look w so go back and look at what herb dean did the first thing herb dean did when he stopped the fight was pull up miracles legs..

"So, you know, we used to rotate just round after round after round everybody was in the room for about an hour and ten minutes, and that would be that would be the door, the workout. So we're going to go and he says, hey, how hard do you want to go? And I said fight like brothers. We got the big gloves onto it's a fight like brothers. So, you know, we're going we're going we're going, and he hits me what the donkey punch, and it hurts so bad. I wanna cry amount wannacry see the stars and everything he's like, hey, manual, right? You're right. You're right. And I'm like, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We keep going does it again. Just couple of seconds later. Does it again? And I got it hurts so bad. I got I got a call it off. I'm like man, I'm good. And he said, I got brothers. Okay. Okay. You know, he was insistent on hitting everybody with that right hand. I mean, he really was. And he would always do the how hard do you wanna go business in he would honor it? But at some point he let that right hand go, and then insist that he had pulled it. I don't know why I don't know if if he just couldn't control it or if he took a pleasure and ringing your bell. And then insisting that he could hit even har-. I don't know my favorite. Dan Henderson story, though, the night before I'm going to fight Michael bist Bank. So I'm in the hotel room, I'm recovering it's one hundred eighty five pounds. You. Remember how bad those way cuts were for me. So who better to talk to the Dan Henderson about Michael bisbee? He'd been in there with him. So I call up Dan Henderson. And I said something about, you know, hey, can I beat this guy? I think that was my my my opening he can I beat this guy. And he was very clearly doing something else. You know, you like I could hear the kind of the phone muffled as he was the kids or whatever. Or food or whatever it was. He was doing. But his voice was was in and out and his response to me was. Yeah. So okay. We kind of go from there. Now, I'm really hoping for some Xs and os, not only am I looking to get a little sunshine blown at my ass. But I'm looking for look before he throws anything. He'll step here. He'll move here. I'm looking for him to point out something that perhaps Clayton, and I have not already picked up on. So he then says to me at some point where he's clearly put off by the phone call. He says to me is this three or five rounds. And now that surprised me because as somebody in mice that follows the sports so closely, I was well aware that I was the Komen event, and that Rashad and Phil are the main how Phil became a man of overmatched. I have no idea, but he was I'm well, I would just know where the placement on the card was and to remind you the only two times when you would fight five rounds is if you were a main event, or if you're the world champion now at that point in my career, I had been. Carrying the belt around telling everybody, I was world champion. But I did not know that that that Dan had fallen for it. I didn't know Dan who was also in the company and the division thought. I was the world champion perhaps he did..

You're right. Everybody does have their own story. But with to your point about tournaments and wrestlers it's always been been cool to see, you know, the rest of excel in that, obviously, you know, even in more modern times and even within your own organization. We saw Michael Chandler get his I if I bel- to our world title through a tournament. So they're always great to see these stories, but I'm glad you mentioned Dan Henderson because that was that was my Mike my question for you a Ryan, obviously, Dan Henderson. He spent some time a couple of places, but obviously ASU and we've had this debate. We we pitched to people before I don't think we've pitched it to somebody from Arizona State University. And you know, as you always gets brought up you've got you came. Alaska's, Don Frye, Dan Henderson, Dan Severn. Obviously, there's other great ones, you know, on Moraga Aaron symptoms. There's other other great teams Penn. Penn State's produce Mizzou, obviously, ask grin and Chandler. Michigan's got some underrated talent. But but do you feel obviously there's some bias? But do you feel the ASU brings a strong case for number one there? Oh, you know, this is what was done in in in. We're still not done to know. Eagle yet champions came last aspects. I think that that's ever do it. Yeah. I don't know why you will what What school. school? I know a lot of often particular CD myself here in Simpson along and all that we're on the same team. So you know, we saw where the sport was kinda doughy it is getting pretty mainstream pre popularity and avenue for us to go and still competing. They create it, you know, so but to have all those guys before us. In Saint just, you know, I don't know why that school, but it's pretty cool. Yeah. For sure, ma'am. What else is pretty cool is those three belts got those three titles. Those that picture that I saw in the post fight press conference. That was awesome to see. We'll really really happy for you. Ryan, we always consider you a junkie and congrats man, I mean, you put in the hard work. You know, you lost Jones in Ortiz back back and shook that off I'm telling you sometimes fighters, they lose one, it's tough. They lose two or three are, you know? And and but but every time there's been a setback. There's been so many more positives that come forward. So congrats on all your success. We're really really happy for you and hope negotiations go well, and you get paid. 'cause like I said, you're you're just one of the big stars in MMA period. Not just Bill tour. Guys, and he should always have my back and better long football. Joe? All right, man. Thanks for the time. That is Ryan Bater, folks. Give them a follow on Twitter at Ryan Bater. He. He's one of my favorites. Number ways to do the lightsaber intro. Yeah. Forgot about that. Just because we saw from like tough kind of grow up, you know. And I'm telling you those setback Corrales lost three in a row be loss to to a former champ in Strauss current champion frady, and who was the mangle centers really right in before that he had one thirteen straight. And then since that he's won five straight to overcome that adversity is it's not easy to overcome it. And then continuing just get better. And that's something Bater was able to do. So I applaud them imagine. They're just going out there and being able to do that to to fit. All right. We gotta take a break. Listening to ever made junkie radio on fight nation. "So you're on a nice streak. Do you think this propels you to a possible title shot is that what you want at this point? Because not only did you get a win over a tough guy. But you got everyone's talking about Henry corral is right now. Thanks, man. Yeah. I would think so for sure you know, there's a lot of title advocation talk before the fight went down. And so I don't see why. There wouldn't be no talk about it after the fight, especially the way I finished it. So it'd be definitely nice to get back in with people do to mix it up with that guy. You know, bottom told eight noticed, you know, and getting the full camp for that guy. And this as my career, I'm I'm on a I'm just operating on different frequency these days the with him eight lap. So it'd be a lot different going down this time for sure. Would you? Call this stage of your career Henry, let's compare it to football four quarters. Thirty two years old. You've got almost twenty fights is the third quarter. Are you still in the second quarter? You in the final stages. I feel like I'm always shocked in the sports some guys go to like forty eight. I think Dan Henderson recently did that and then others are like Dennis. Ramona's was just on our show. And I think he he just retired at thirty two. Where do you sit? For me, you know, just entered my physical prime like maybe a year ago, but I'm barely scratching service on mental prime, you know, older, you know, and just being more just conscious than president of where a lot more things that are going down in my life is just making everything better. You know? And I'm I'm in a good place. And I'm just I'm just ready take everything the next level, man. Do you just ran out of the tunnel? It was just halftime right now. And you still got twenty more fights sounds like. Two. Henry crawl I guess here on the junkie radio show. He's coming off that big win over Aaron PICO at bell tour to fourteen that was a KO finish first round. Look it up folk seriously that whole minute and seven is whatever means all about right? Let me turn over to the fight analyst, Dan, Tom, Dan. What do you have for and across a Henry first office? I from obvious, congratulations. I got ask. I I heard the story of how you got your nickname or okay? Okay there for OK corral as OK corral. But as far as walkout song was as your usual jam that you walk out to and if so is there may be a story behind it. Oh, that's my jam. Dudes, some mind blood one's cold system. Some o- school heat right there. You know, some. Janssen's some crazy times I've got a couple of times. Right on man. I I I'm her jet. I mind tricks was actually in southern California will not hanging out with some friends, ironically, enough and speaking your older days, I guess there you also recently shared a story, or at least in your post fight interview. You shared a story about a, you know being stabbed and fighting off a guy there skateboard, and that's always great. And all, but as a skateboarding guy, I gotta know hinder who the skate did you skate for long, and if so who your favorite skateboarders, man. I grew up on a skateboard from from the moment like five years old. I was getting all the way until like fucking booze and push over there. Stop skating, but for good like fourteen years, and I I guess back back in those days. I like a lot of the street skaters, you know, like just. Far shirks? Yeah. As a. Guys. Like, Rodney Mullen and Wong song technical guys guys. So I guess from obviously from the skating to fighting whether it be in the streets to when you harness it more in the martial arts..

"She was just kind of on the bubble. She had a little bit of ankle's bothering her, and she was running for twenty twenty five thousand so we turned her out fresh into and when she came back into next year. She just got a little bigger and stronger, and now you're talking to fortified your old mare and the following year. She ended up winning some stake races. She wanted six six and a half a mile mile an eight and ended up being the Washington older mayor of the year and just had a stellar season. And to go from you know, a twenty claimer and she did win a couple of those. But you know, kind of made it look like she had started a career maiden special allowance. In the Washington area, and then dipped down into the claiming and then after a year and some time off little freshening. She came back, even bigger and better. So that was kind of one one one example of that. And then there was another horse that we claim I high now called curb Raj, and he's he's the funny horse. He's kinda spooky and Lookie and stuff like that. But this particular horse he was three year old first time starter. So we claimed him and next time out we you know, we bumped him up in the claiming ranks and then he rattled off a couple of wins. He he was just one of those ones that you kind of had to do things his way because a lot of people would not like that spooky quirkiness, but he had brilliant speed. And he actually ran one six and change and still holds the record for, you know, the fastest six furlongs ever run in Washington. So that was kind of a horse that you just had to kind of do things his way. And and not get after him, or or, you know, and and sometimes you got to treat gelding like Phillies, and sometimes you gotta train Phillies like colts, and, you know, Philly's like things a little lighter and a little softer and utilize colts can take a strong hand. And just come back the next day. Like it didn't they don't even remember what happened yesterday. So there's a lot of give and take with horses and whether they're males females or or somewhere in between. You gotta kinda see what kind of training works for them lighter harder, more work, less workout, you know, that kind of thing. And so one of the things I think you definitely for me. And I think a lot of other people you may talk to you. Somebody asked me the question one time. But what is it about racing that you like, obviously, I like the competition because growing up playing sports and stuff like that. So that's one of the driving forces. And that was something that Dan Henderson. I hadn't common stands very competitive person. And I know he liked that part of racing. And so do I love the competition. But when somebody asks me that question, you know, what is it that you like about racing gets the horse is that one on one trying to figure out that horse. They're all like a puzzle. And then you say, okay, you know, let's changes feed. Let's change shooting. Let's do this. Let's do that. And you keep tinkering, and you get things just the way you want him. But a lot of trainers. You talked to you know, you get things one hundred percent, right? The it rains the racing. Get cancelled all of a sudden you get him, right? Where you want him or her spike, the temperature pops in abscessed, you know, grabs a quarter. It's just there's so many things. So that's why I think when when when you win a race. You see trainers so excited over the top, you know, especially owners to you know, with owners, you kind of have your, you know, you go to your job, you go to your work your business every day. And you know, probably not all that exciting. But you win a race..

"It was Dan Henderson versus either minutes. Tharoor is brother. Forgive me. I don't they Toro in minutes. Hero brothers little big. I think it was mentor. Oh, and it was no striking on the full. But Dan Henderson lost this fight. I mean it got. But every at the end of the round and each round he put his hands up at the end of the fight. He's he's walking around like what is he doing? They gave him the decision, and I could not he was mounted the whole damn it was it was ridiculous. But the point being that I saw I seen that early on in fights. And you witness all there's a lot of watch the guys watch the guys that especially to change each round hand up. They they clap their hand. Can I doesn't judge sometimes at the end? There are a little torn up. All look at this guy. I guess it does matter. Yeah. Absolutely. Those thing call recency in memory. And it's like, you said the facing remembers the last thing you say, so if you like you said if there's some discretion. I mean, it like part of you made me like, I'm not sure, and they look up and the facing these as you being like this or the last thing around that's what they call it stealing around. 'cause you kinda don't do. Well, a whole round and at the annual land the couple good shots. And then you turn around and go like people are going to be like, okay. And it can be swayed. Like, unfortunately, I know in training like there's thirty seconds around. I looked like get a big takedown short time. Yeah. That's small. Are you married? I'm not. I don't know if you with anybody or not. But like when you're when you're with somebody and fight, and you lose a fight. What is the what what happens after that? You guys not talk for a little while where you see her. And just like she knows not to say anything. Every relationship. I've been in with fighting. You know, they just kind of hey on like, you know, you look good out there. Like, I thought you did. Well, yeah. Thanks. Thanks. Bye..

"No actually had nothing to do with that only had to do with Marty from Nebraska, and the story is this when whose men wrestled in junior college, he wrestled out of Nebraska, and a junior college in Nebraska the other side of it is when he would. Train at the Olympic training center. It was too hard for people to remember Kamar, whose it was just a weird name or they couldn't pronounce UIs men or they couldn't pronounce whatever it is. Who's been told them just call me Marty? So who's been actually gave the name to himself? But at some point in time, roughly two thousand eight ish in the wrestling circle. Who's been was known as Marty from Nebraska, he was known as that he introduced himself. It was never meant to be this huge slide. Hold on to say so aspirin got a hold of this news. So we just call them. The aspirin wasn't actually looking to go out there and make something give him a hard time at one point in two thousand eight when he was at the training center and Olympic Vasquez. He's he was noticed Marty from Nebraska from Nebraska is who's been but his name is not Marty. That's exactly percent. Yes. This is not like in Muhammad Ali changing his name from caches. Is that something you can because that's what I thought too. Maybe maybe Comoro for time. Changes. Is that what you thought? I wasn't sure with. Yes. How Berger said. Yeah. The guy's name is Marty. I don't think that's right. From the information that I've got his name is not mardi and was never mardi. He was with a group of new guys at the training center. And instead of and I kind of get this with an aim like Cheo people on you know, shale and kale and he called me. Hertie call me, Bob, if you want to just this Marty come as long as everybody calls me the same thing. I'll know when to turn my head. So all I'm saying, I'm giving you the update on the story mardi from Nebraska is how he be done. It's I just wanted to put a cap in it. Let me taking a new direction. What is your final opinion or analysis about only BJ pens performance where to go from here? He stops fighting. He stops fighting in wanna fight and ten years already calls it. He's got to. That's all the new fans are gonna remember his they're not going to remember that that, you know, ten twelve years ago BJ was fighting at heavyweight against Machida. Okay. That that he was one of the toughest guys on the planet. Does that mean does that mean sports gotten so much better know, it means a lot more people are doing it in a lot more, athletes, and that style it and get in there? No more. Now, it's very tough. It's very real thing into the guys that did. Well, when BJ did well, a just aren't doing. Well, now, not very many of them. You know, Randy one of the reasons we compliment Randy is because he was able to change with the times when he started this. It was just wrestlers. He was just in there as a wrestler, and then was able to evolve and started the dirty. In which was his level of stand up fighting than you know, throw some submissions up here. And there it's one of those guys that could evolve with the sport, it's a really hard thing. And I don't I don't necessarily tell you that. I don't think BJ has evolved. But to remind you when BJ got into the U of C his claim to fame as he was the first ever American to win the world championships in jujitsu that was a huge tremendous honor and deal back. Then the reason I remind you of that history is this while the setup to that technique the Monari role that Ryan hall did was a fantastic difficult outside the box perhaps spontaneous technique. It's still only gets you into a heel hook, and he'll hooks not that hard to defend. It's important offend. It's dangerous technique, but it's not that hard to BJ. Did it the wrong way? He quite literally turned the wrong way. Why I suggest that to you is very common, Joel. And you have seen this mainly because you're a wrestling Mark, which you've seen a lot of our wrestling. He rose do that it worked for Dan Henderson to switch over to. Stryker..
