"We need to teach myself time for hot news or not news. Dan Graziano read a statement. Dan tells us that that's hot news or not news. Let's get started with a wild finish. Last night, Dan ready Raiders over time. When over the Ravens week one and hot news are not news. Hot news because I mean, look, it's crazy that the Raiders won the game. But the fact that the Ravens lost it, I think is the hot news here because this is a Ravens team that is coming off a real rough training camp where they haven't really had You know everyone together on offense Because there's been so many injuries. They trade away one of their tackles to a conference rival they struggle to tackle last night. I think the Ravens issues surfacing late in that game are big news. As we look ahead to. I think it's going to be really tough FC North race I think it's hot news for the Raiders, The Raiders finally got one of those signature wins and the John Group. In the past down, the Raiders would just squander this things go bad. It went south in a hurry for them. It's good to see them finally get a win and make some sense. I think it's big trouble or the Ravens because I get worried. We worry about Colin Murray run around save his life. I watched Lamar Jackson do that a ton last night, especially with our right tackle being horrible. It's hot news because of what he said The The rate The Raiders need to win a game like that, And they did, But did did the Raiders not beat the Kansas City Chiefs early in the season last year? Was that not a signature win? I got to see the Raiders hold up over a whole season before I'm buying in on this. Jon Gruden Raiders era Aaron Rodgers postgame comments after Matt LaFleur called the Packers lost, embarrassing hot news or not news, Dan Well, I mean, it was embarrassing. So I would say not news. Look, I think Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur. Alright, think are on the same page. Rogers issues with the team have been with the front office. He's been clear on that. Everything I've been told over the last couple years is that the relationship between Rogers and LaFleur is good. I think everyone felt like it was embarrassing. And I think that you know the work to get it fixed so I thought the game was. It was big news for the Saints. I think the Packers are going to end up being just fine. I'm gonna go with not news on postgame comments. After a really rough loss. I would say it's not news, but do the more That would Dan is saying, but more the lack of preparation and training camp only seven padded practices less than two hours in each one of those padded practices. No real preseason reps. And when you look at them playing against the Saints, it looked like they were not prepared. Which Dan said I think they'll be fine. Bigger news for the Saints Dad, I'm going to go hot news here. It's not what Aaron Rodgers said. It's how he said it sounded like my mama right the tone of how Aaron Rodgers speaks sometimes to the media. Considering what he went through this past summer, I think really rubs fans, especially Green Bay Packer fans the wrong way. I think it's hot news because the Packers looked terrible and you mentioned a key 77 padded practices that there's not a lot of preparation. And then the comments he made really put it on the coaching staff as we discussed yesterday. I think that's actually hot news. Um this is hot news or not news with Dan Graziano. Jalen.

NFL Insider Dan Graziano Breaks Down Week 11

"Dan graziano it is eleven fifty eight. Pm eastern so. Thank you very much man for staying up late behind. After that game. I go right to sleep. That was exciting. Dan graziano is an espn nfl insider. And he will get to sleep soon. We promise fired for game like that. Yeah me too i mean. Let's get into this right off the top here the chiefs. Just beat the raiders. Thirty five to thirty one. They beat the team who is beating kansas city. This season dan back in week. Five about a million years ago. So were you watching for in this rematch tonight. Well to see if they can do it again right. I mean that sounds simple. But like i didn't think their victory over kansas city was a fluke because it seemed like they had kind of a formula that they went out and they stuck to. They didn't win but a certainly could have. And i think that's that's significant because they know that's the team that is in their way in their division. Obviously they're on top of the conference in the league as super bowl champion. So you see the raiders. Draft a running back in the first round last year. That can help them. Control the clock and keep mahomes on the sideline like they did in the first game. They played they draft the speedy wide receiver this year in the first round. That can stress their quarterbacks. I mean they're thinking about the chiefs all the time. They're certainly not on that level at this point as the records indicate but they've constructed a team that can play in a way that threatens the chiefs and it might be able to beat them. So they're not as different as you might inclined to think yet and i have to admit like the difference between pat mahomes and derek carr felt smaller than i ever realized it would tonight. What did you see from these two quarterbacks total commanded of the offense which has not always been him. And certainly since gruden's been there. We've seen a lot more ups and downs. Where he looked like he was a little bit. Lost a little bit uncertain But this is years three with gruden and when gruden got there he talked about competent car up and making sure that car believed he was the guy. So that when you know. When ben came together around him he would be the guy that was in total control of things. And and it seems to be coming to fruition. What he's got. He's got people to throw to nelson agholor like out of nowhere as having a career renaissance in las vegas. He's got two very running back. Got a great offensive line. And i think you know he's playing with a lot of confidence as you would expect him to give all those things now. I think he's taken a big job this year in terms of where. He ranks in terms of the quarterbacks. We feel confident about what we watched the did feel like gruden kinda new like no. It's sunday night football. Let's give the people something that they'll enjoy. What did you most enjoy from. Hearing those play called why. I our love to know what the purple walrus was and i mean i think there are some vegas ones like he dropped. The sammy davis in there at one point and then and then it sounded like they've been paying very close attention to the nba off-season because there are a number of james harden and those who among nfl coaches knows how to produce primetime football. Better than jon gruden right. I mean he did it for for a decade or so for us in terms of operating in that sphere. So maybe i don't know maybe maybe he feels like a showman or maybe they're just having a lot of fun in their in their offensive meetings. They sound like all. The time does not all watching every week but was it so as showmanship goes that lasts. Drive man lake travis. Kelsey had some great moments in this game but that catch at the end mahomes calling him the best tight end in the league game. What did you see from travis kelsey tonight yeah domination. This is this. is you talk about reliability. I mean the the quarterback knows he's going to be where he's supposed to be. He knows he's almost certainly going to be open. He know he's going to catch the ball like it's total complete confidence in a guy in a key spot third down. A guy had throw to the end zone in the final minute. I mean he is the best tight end in the league. I don't think it's even close especially when you know. George kittle is on the shelf right now in the second best tight end. The league is probably the guy that was on hiller sidelines tonight. So there's there's no doubt that he in homes are in sync in a way that very few combinations like that are

"I think he just pitched on in is impressive. Right guy comes out of the blue. He was like a software designer or something. He got hurt injured a shoulder because he had played when he was in. I think high school or something yeah but anyhow yes so he faced three batters and struck all three out. Yes sir that is really cool. What a cool story. That's almost like a. I think we said this last time but it's almost like rookie of the year that the dennis quaid movie nathan nathan patterson. Keep your eye on him. He's <hes> listen for that name because that's that's really something i love. It also also the <hes> n._f._l. Players association is telling <hes> some of the players all the players to get ready for a work stoppage for next first year. I'll come on that would be wouldn't that be awful. League has no capital to burn with their fans. Come on according to e._s._p._n.'s dan graziano the n._f._l. An n._f._l. P._a. maintain that a work stoppage is unlikely but the n._f._l. P._a. wanted the the players to have a game plan. Just in case the guide reportedly focuses on teaching players how to save money in the event. They have weekly game checks coming in the wait a second off your millions for just a little bit down. I know well some of them. I mean don't they. They spend a lot of time time trying to help these guys. <hes> be careful with their money. Hey you know what you might not make thirty million a year for your whole life. It's possible that your careers cut short or even. If you have a long career you're going to need to carry that money over afterwards. You know you might save some of it. I think they have a hard time because when you haven't had money your the whole life and then you come into it you go crazy yeah yeah but i mean i guess part of. This is kind of a good sign that they're just kind of learning the players. Hey you know <hes> just be prepared which which makes it obvious. They're already thinking about this because this would be after the twenty twenty season so we're at least assured two more seasons. Okay this year the next right so that's i mean. At least we know that the they're talking right yeah. That's that's a good sign. Apparently the biggest sticking point in negotiations is the revenue split between the owners awesome players right now. The players have a downside sheriff forty seven percent but the n._f._l. As goal is to make that more even your yeah because the players aren't making enough money. I mean we can all agree on the hat right when the when the minimum salaries only six hundred thousand a year or six fifty a year whatever it is as max out at thirty five forty million to start i don't. I don't think they do need a bigger percentage of the prophet. I do think that they should be making more than some of these other sports where your body. There's an sacrificed nearly as much yeah. They're in like major league. Baseball is the one hundred sixty two game schedule but you can't do that in the n._f._l. They're not tackling each other guy no baseball in fact even made it so you can't even collided the plate or out at second base when you're sliding in. They've taken away all contact the whatsoever it is true. Yes they have triple eight nine hundred thirty three ninety-three. We'd take a minute to tell you about don't really factor because so many of us are in pain every single day me with my back keith with his leg.

"Because I'm I'm at least vaguely aware of what's happening in baseball. But there is so much insight on so much detail in to what is happening in. Major league baseball behind behind closed doors and sort of, in the public sphere today that, you know, I've seen hints of that articles, but haven't seen necessarily read about at this length with this level of. Detail. So in in terms of baseball books in the past, I think there's a lot of books that have come out since money, bald and sort of either been positioned or their authors have tried to percent of the such basically moneyball two point. Oh, and I think this is the first book that really reminds me of that really seems like say a significant progression on what's happened over the past fifteen years, and you get you get, you know, you sort of write about money ball early in the book as sort of aid. You know, not a preface, but sort of as a positioning point. And if money ball was about, you know, player acquisition. What is the MVP machine about? Well, it's the case that we were trying to make. And I think you're right. There's been a holiest of moneyball inspired books and books and that moneyball mold. And I wrote one and my Travis such wrote one big database ball about the pirates and a lot of those books are this team, this executive is doing this brilliant thing to find this undervalued talent. And that really has been the. Story of baseball for the past fifteen years, or so it's how do we go? Acquire pre existing talent that's out there. But for whatever reason the market doesn't recognize it. And it's undervalued. And so now I think we've gotten to the point where there's something close to parody among front offices because they're all looking at the game in that way. And you can't go out and get the guy who has the high on base percentage and no one knows it because everyone knows us. So now I think the advantage has shifted, where it's not so much about going out and finding talent that's out there. It's about creating talent or enhancing talent and moneyball didn't have a lot to say on that subject, because I don't think teams were really doing anything different in that area at the time and they'd done for about the century before that. Whereas now I think teams are really making strides in players and coaches and independent instructors in making players better. And so the questions that money 'bout didn't really attempt to answer which is, you know, how did Scott had a bird. Get good. Good at walking, or how did some other guy that Billy being acquired because he had some desirable trait. Where did that desirable, trait come from? And that's what our book is about. Can you create those guys can you make your guys better? Because in moneyball. Billy being explicitly says, you know, the, the guys who go out and trade for their good. They see pitches, they take walks. But I can't teach my own players to do that. And in order to do that, I'd have to get them in diapers is something he says, in the book whereas now I think it's much more possible to teach that kind of create and, and really every sort of Skillet. It seems like talent is more malleable than was previously believed. I mean, this is a book where, you know th this process is certainly going on. But it's been going on for several years now. I mean, was there a point you could go back to the okay this year this season or generally in this timeframe did team sort of get to that point where there was parody and then the shift sort of started happening to develop in and getting more out of the players, they currently have? Yeah. I mean, it's still an ongoing process..

"They didn't like the call balls and strikes that was written. What six? So there's always been that sort of animosity toward officiating. But I think now you know, we're all we live in an era Bill as know where we all hear each other a lot more clearly. And that, that's that is for good or ill. And I think that, that exacerbate some of the intensity of some of these arguments, do you think to some extent? It's our fault in the media, just from the perspective of, you know, that saints call, for example, in nineteen seventy five that happens. But there's no Twitter for us to talk about it. There's no ESPN for us to debate it for days on end for fantastic. That his team got screwed. I mean, is it just that, you know, the, the twenty four seven cycle of football has made it such that you have to fill out with something and you fill it with bad calls. Maybe. Maybe that's the reason I for whatever reason I think the there's been an increased focus in -ficiating on officiating topics to cover, and I think that's the detriment of sports that we watch it would cover because I apprentice when FOX puts Mike Pereira in, in a in a television studio. Right. Like that, that was hailed as revolutionary idea. It was not his mandate was not to examine every call that was close and tell you whether the officials got it right. Or not his mandate was to interpret moves right? The PJ tours doing it for years. They have fish away, like all, you know, he's not allowed to drop that ball there per the rules, because it's closer to whatever. So Pereira was supposed to be doing something on the equivalent of that for football. But what is forced into? And now every network including ours has somebody who does this. It's become commentator on the officiating. And I think I all these guys would have paid it if people were doing that to there were officials, but but, you know, clearing that out of the way I think, continuing to pick officiating as a focal topic in the coverage of sports is damaging to sports, and ultimately, not as important as we've made it out to be so, yes, I do think it's our fault to some extent, because I think we spend too much time talking about it. I've said this on. NFL life. You know, I we make a choice right? You can talk about officiating or you can ignore it and brush, it off and treated the game condition complain about it when there's a mistake but I'm in I'm in the Rams locker room in New Orleans after the game and they are going to the Super Bowl. And think about the number of things could be you could affect to write about that day to say failure. The Rams accomplishment, it cetera et cetera. One of the reporters in the locker room. This, this is gonna have to revolutionize replay officiating. Right. It's all anybody's talking about. And I thought to myself kinda tell us, isn't it? If we make the choice in the fans make the choice to focus on the -ficiating at the level that we have. I do think that, that it's an unfortunate mistake, that is not gonna help our enjoyment of our games and to your point. I mean, I think about poor my Carey when he was doing this job for a CBS, he was on, you know, he was seeing the same replays that my heroine see you're someone else would see her. We would see his fans or media members or people who think we know about the game and how it's called and quite often he would come to a different conclusion from the conclusions that other people come up with even other referees who were in the public space, including for example, Mike Pereira. And I think that's telling because we talked about what we never got to that point, where we are, you know, decided rules, exactly the same way he has access to lose replays. He is a professional effort Wesley professional referal, long time and still came to alternate calls from what the rule book might say. What a different ref might say so. Even if the technology is perfect, which is not. Let's victim was perfect. We're still not gonna be able to get to a place where the rules are going to make everyone happy or the calls to make everyone happy..

"If you close one thing that we can agree upon by the way Bill, and I I don't mean to get ahead of ourselves. I and I don't want to presume that we can agree upon. This is that there was a time this year, we're in a narrative prevailed that the patriots were at the end the end is not here. I don't believe and even patriots go to aero heading get lax fifty eight to nothing on Sunday that this. Should be viewed at the end of the road for the patriots. I just don't. And I think that's the only part like I can live with any outcome in any game this weekend. And I understand that that's going to be a narrative if the patriots lose on Sunday, but I really think we can do better. Like, I think we get aim higher than presuming that Sunday dictates the future. Whether the patriots are going to be in the mix or not like, I think there's enough organizational infrastructure last time, I checked Tom Brady is pretty decent. And a lot of the guys that are there now are going to be there next year. And they've got twelve traffic's like the chiefs are going to be there for a long time because Patrick Mahomes, and a lot of the great things they've done with that front office that coaching staff and the patriots are not going away. Those are two things that I need to be very clear, regardless of the outcome on Sunday. This is not going to be the end for either team. The chiefs have so much Thailand wouldn't shock me if they are in and you know, they're they have Andy Reid an annual playoff contender. Either way, you know, barring a major injury, Patrick Mahomes, which obviously hoped not happen. They're going to be back year after year in the playoff on the patriots. Like you said. Next year to first rounder to second rounders, and I believe in extra third row. They have one third rounder thirty Cleveland, they have their they have an extra in a trait. I believe with Detroit trae hob, and they they're protected the land to compensatory picks having lost both Malcolm Butler, Nick solar. And then also later on down the line any and Dollah in Dion Lewis in free agency, which quickly put a bowl in that point. Like, if you're talking about how you know the team is still class like look at how they replace those players and making smart decisions that to me as a sign of good free and pretty much higher office. Yeah. And their entire draft this year pretty much got hurt. I mean, they really got very little out of their draft Kasumi their players got hurt. So we're gonna have next year. This flood of guys who drank even thinking about a Windsor Dawson's who might be playing meaningful roles on the roster next year. So I absolutely agree. "One of the most unique atmosphere sports, and I can't imagine just how fired up everybody in Kansas City is for upcoming Sunday hungry field to see you got a couple more minutes. I know. No sorry as much time. You know, it is lunchtime. Both when I'm a growing boy, I'm hungry. No. Last question. We asked about this game. We'll get to maybe prediction after that. But when the patriots needed a big play the last time new tease these teams played maybe not a surprise who they went to. It was rob gronkowski who I think a lot of times over the years when Tom Brady has needed a big play in the fourth quarter. He's going to go to his star tight end last game. They had a on the final set the game winning feel had a big catch over. I wanna say John Parker was someone who's right? It's pre pre Ron Parker which is now obviously over again. Yes. Run Parker was cut to bring back Lauren. Do Varnay Tardiff on the roster. It was a can't find the guy's name it. He's no longer on the roster as well as Ron Parker, which okay, I I don't wanna fault him because it wasn't a really fair matchup playing gronk one on one. And one of the biggest games. Situations of the day. But you got there. It was a backup chief defensive back against a star. Patriots tight end. Welcome caskey. It seems like certainly is not playing as big of a role as a receiver. He was great as a blocker last week, but has not playing as big of a role as receiver in this game. And I'm assuming the chiefs don't have Eric berry who came back, but has had a recurrence of the hill. Pain that prevented him from playing play last round. If you don't have Eric berry and near the chiefs. How what do you worry about Robin caskets game? Do you think he is limited enough that we don't have to treat him? Like he is the game breaking superstar tight end. Or are you worried enough about him that you have to make him a parody? Even if he is not the guy he used to be I could be wrong here Bill, but I don't know that there is a seven catch hundred twenty two yard touchdown game. Last in gronk this season. I could be wrong there. But as you mentioned what I would call gotta have it to Jewish ins, the patriots often turn to the same committee or. Faces and Glock is one of them, and you mentioned that play and I've got the game book open here from when those two teams last played in the snaps, and I'm still not sure who it was that was in coverage of gronk on that twenty nine or thirty nine yard catch that eventually set up a game when he feel the whether it was Josh..

"And I could certainly be wrong. If anyone's gonna creek. On this. It's gonna be you. I feel like when the patriots have a number of a really scary tight end on the other side of the field for them and their defense. I think Bill Belichick strategies basically, we want to take that tight end out of the game. Because you know, if someone like is accurate to Debbie pretty giving the patriots in the Super Bowl. But if it's accurate he can contribute so much in the run game as a blocker so much as a passer that we want to not worry about that tight end taking advantage of our players. And in these two games that we're talking about. He's been not quiet, but by Kelsey sandwich. He has not really changed. Those games had five catches for forty yards in the first one. And then most recently a little more. He was five of nine for sixty one yards. So hundred one yards over two games less than he would normally do. But tyreek hill had monster games. Three touchdowns hundred forty two yards and we in week six this year and then ninety eight sorry one thirty three and a touchdown in week one twenty seven. Nineteen so from the patriots respective do. You think it is more? Like, do you think tyreek hill should be the first person? They're thinking about on every single player. Should it be Kelsey and thinking, well, we're gonna worry about tyreek hill, and he might only make an impact for player to hear their hopefully, I think it should be tyreek hill on every single play. And here's the reason why is that from a square footage standpoint. Tyreek, still real Taibbi hills real estate is one hundred yards of the field vertically and fifty third Yarze horizontally, which is with of the NFL field. Well, Travis Kelsey is amazing Bill, and I would argue that he was the best in football. And that's not like that's upper nearly bold of claim. No. But still in a year when we had three awesome tight ends that Gertz obviously George kill as well. Like Travis Kelsey was the best in the field almost every single week that he played for the chiefs this season. And he he can do about as much as any tight end can do. But still the the area that you are likely counting. For with Travis Kelsey is somewhere basically inside of the numbers on one side of the inside of the numbers on the other side. So you know, that's about two thirds of the horizontal space on the field. Whereas tyrod kill Bill first of all he can lineup anywhere. Second of all before the snap. He's going to be something you're gonna have to account for the chiefs have all this window-dressing pre snap which makes a defense have to react in a lot of different ways. And sometimes defenses lose the play before the balls even snap because they can't keep up with what Kansas City is doing prior to the snap. That's going to impact the result of that play. Tyrod kill your team in motion. You're gonna see him in the backfield. You're going to see them squatting in the back. They were almost like, hey, maybe linebackers. Don't see these hiding behind Mitch Morris, or or you know, Mitchell Schwartz Eric Fisher or L D DT the chiefs gar, Laura Lawrence Newburn party whose back off of I are this week. So like, there are a lot of different ways. Atari kill can hurt you. And I'm not saying that you ever. Ever want to relinquish points Bill, but there is something just entirely demoralizing about a long run after catch a play where the wide receiver just gets behind you. I don't mean this assay early blown coverage. Like we saw from the patriots in that Keenan Allen touchdown at the beginning of last week that looked like a mental error to me. That was just like, hey, I didn't fluff in cover three when I had to keep dropping. I keep saying vertical. Like that's on me. I think my guess was to give more mental air. But when you just can't keep up with the guy Bill or when a guy catches, the football and dashes, and you can't keep up with him. Which was the example that seventy five yard play you come to the sideline. And you're just like listen coach, whoever whether it's still Malchow Brian Florez, whoever it is that your addressing. And that's an that circumstance. It's like, I'm not sure tell you like we're the right place right coverage like he's just faster than us. Right..

"But yeah, I think he's he's the one to watch. And I don't know how I get your interior guys help errand Dhamma Dhamma can sues the other, you know, the other guy to watch. I mean, that's that's that's a major problem. And you know, p is going to have to, you know, load up on Advil, and whatever if he's gonna endure that for an entire game with the bust of hand, it'd be a lot of Advil. I Admiral Ripi at your mistakes get into that and another podcast on the topic altogether yet. And I mean, I'm on one hundred percent either. We saw him struggle bending Michael Bennett in that game last week. So yeah, I mean have -solutely I think it's going to be a concern. I don't know that it's going to necessarily, you You know. know, I don't know that it's going to happen. But it wouldn't shock me in by all means if air Donald had an enormous game here and on the flip side or ball. Aaron Donald is healthy and playing great at the tackle. But the saints down one after losing Sheldon rank to a torn achilles last week in the eagles. Do not run the ball. Well in the absence of shell the ranking sale Celeste Brandon Brooks, one of their excellent guards to a torn achilles in the same game right around. I think the same derive might have been the case, we're very strange, but we've seen the Rams over the past few weeks, really commit to running the football. And we saw in weeks sixteen seventeen with C J Anderson. And now we're seeing it with the combination of C, J Anderson and Todd Gurley and running back. So after the game last week all the Rams said was hey, you know, we're physical team. We're gonna show teams that this is what we're getting back to back to our core strengths of running the football. So number one. Do you think it's like a real thing that the Rams are really are a run heavy team as opposed to being sort of a team built around the pass and number two. Do you think that's their best strategy to try to win? This game is to run the ball. Really? Well at a saints team missing their best interior render. Well, Bill when you have a weapon like J Anderson's, right? I mean guy who you know, who's been on. I think four or five different rosters in the last twelve months. I mean, obviously, extremely popular player who's done a lot of great. Well, when they signed in I asked somebody is this because it worry about girly in the answer was yes and grill had to miss the next couple of game. So I got the ball thanking not expect C J Anderson to run the ball like this. But now that he has they wisely have decided to make him part of the game plan, and they felt like the way to attack the Dallas defense which likes come at you off. Yet was you know, pounded up the middle with Anderson is early, and, you know, girlies not one hundred percent Anderson is she's been eating. Well, you know the. Yeah. They're able to to to sort of one to it with those. Now, are they going to be able to do that against the saints? I mean, look, I think the Rams interior. The Rams offense at line is probably a little weaker than their tackle spots. And I think the saints can probably commit some guys that middle cover up the center guard a little bit and and guard against run. But as you mentioned the Rams dangerous still in the ball as well. It's just to me. I think the emergence of Anderson is viable option. Not only helps them give Gurley break when he needs it. But also now I mean there in about forty eight times last week against the Cowboys. So to be able to do that at a time when not a lot of people have seen you do that is obviously to your advantage. And then you look at the Cooper Cup injury. I think did have very negative met of it Rams pass. Now, they tried to move robbery woods into the slot. And you know, Josh Reynolds was not quite the same kind of. On the outside..

"I think just having often I don't know what they're gonna do necessarily. But on the flip side of the Spacek watch that saints eagles game last week Andres Pete really struggled and after the game came out. Oh, by the way, he had a broken hand. He had surgery, which you know. I I if I stubbed my toe, I'm not very good job. Employment are different. They are different breed, but even among lineman Aaron Donald is a different breed relative to other lineman on either side of the ball. And now we have Aaron Donald play against a clearly compromise. Not one hundred percent Andres Pete. So is that a match up where you think that could single handedly turn this game towards the Rams. Couldn't. And because the Rams play big games this year. I think we've seen you know, Donald do that. And I look back the money night game against the chiefs, which is obviously famous but the number of points were scored in it only game in NFL history where each team score fifty. I Donald strips axe turned that game in favor the rent, right? I mean that was like the the place he made on defense and Sanson et Cam picking up the ball and running it in like that without those twin. So what you know? That's that's the key. If you're the same but keep Donald from wrecking the game 'cause he's just to go toe-to-toe with Brees versus golf or Kamera versus girly. And it's often off it's up. It's whoever while last win Donald the kind of guy who has shown us to make enough plays to swim that nece covered their game in Detroit where they clinched the division, and they were not playing well, and then I know where in the fourth quarter. Donald fortunately, formal on that staffer and the whole swing Rams wait like he's which is why belongs in the MVP conversation because you know, he's at his best when the game needs the most. He's also got this uncanny ability to Sanish reappear in the backfield. As soon as snap is is. Taken which is really frustrating to Andrews Pete in anybody else's cut, walk them on your..

"By Dr basis. So the thing I'm gonna ask you is this in the first game where he had to eleven and a touchdown how the cell phone celebration. No, keep to leave. It was Marcus PR's and Troy hill cornerback to leave is back, obviously, he's older not necessarily the same guy. He might have been years ago. But do you think to lead makes a massive difference in terms of how they cover Michael Thomas, and how they're able to slow down Michael Thomas, and do you think Michael Thomas has to have a big game for the saints to wit? I don't think Michael Thomas needs to have a big game for the saints to win. Because I think the saints can win running the ball, and you can run the ball on the rents. They allowed over more than five yards per carry in a regular season. That's where their home Rable. So I think if if it comes to that they can win it with Ingram and Kamara in terms of the coverage. I'm fascinated to see what they do because. Yes, Thomas is far the way the most dangerous threat in the passing game outside of maybe Kamera that the saints have everybody else, basically undrafted due that is just turning into you know, goal 'cause he's breeze. But you know, they don't really have tight end. They do some weird things pace them hill. The Thomas is the guy like he's the kind of lean on and we saw that in the first game against the Rams. We saw it last week. I think you've got seven games here with ten or more catches. So you know that that's the guy that tension. Do they put to leave on him does to Leach presence allow them to change up coverage? His and Marcus Peters want some of this. Why he got smoked at seventy dollars game winner that was him. And then taking troll them after the game saying they loved the matchup and and Peterson I wanna see Shawn Payton again and have a boat with Gumbo. And I mean, this is Marcus Peters is probably baking, Sean McVay and wait Phillips to let him cover Michael Thomas. So he can show that he can do it. But of course, as a coach you have to assess whether the guy can really handle it and just to leaves the better match up or just to leave being on the field allow them to do things that that confuse challenge. Michael Thomas, and the way they couldn't in the first game, you know, that would be to their benefit. So I think that's that's a key thing. I'll have my I on. I'm watching from the extremely remote vantage point that is the Orleans Superdome press box on on Sunday afternoon. I it gives them options, which is exciting. Right. Because now they don't have to rely on on Peter's or hill. Singlehandedly, you know, they don't have to worry about. Hey, if they put Tom. Mus on Peter side of the field. And we have no solution because we're not gonna move Troy hill and half him shadow. Michael thomas? He's not that caliber of quarterback keeps Lena's that count caliber of Cornerbacks. They have that option of mixing things up if they're so inclined which I think is good..

"They he challenged on the Michael Gallup catch where there is no real evidence. Besides his players saying, hey, the fly challenge this on that deep past Gallup. So I'm really I'm sort of confused, and I feel like even though these are two great coaches than they regarded rightly as brilliant offensive mines. I think the saints may have an advantage in terms of the game management aspect of this versus the relatively inexperienced McVeigh. Yeah. I experience matters a lot and Sean McVay in the Rams can absolute we win this game. He's good enough coach. He's got a good enough team. There's no question if the Rams in this game not sitting there stunned on Sunday night. However experience does matter and chore pays post a lot of these games and showing McVay, and we watch showing the. On Saturday night. I thought he looked like a guy who was feeling a great deal of freshen imagine the Rams losing that game. And all your heard for two years about selling McVay is genius next. Big thing, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Now, he's only two in the playoffs with that team. Now sudden this conversation about some phase going to have a little bit of return, right? All we're gonna be wondering have what it takes to win these games. So I think he's the guy that since the beginning of the season training camp when I visited their training camp. Wait you live. It's felt to me like this was team. Knew that it had spectators and was a new that. There was tremendous pressure to meet them, and they won what their first nine games. Ten games. Something. And so obviously that that validated. Everything they wobble little bit in the second half. And now tot early hurt. And now he's playing hurt in the middle of that offense of wine is kinda like just hold it together for more weeks guys and to was out for a while and Cooper Cup is out. And you know, when I say what the saints have and terms of the roster. I think the Rams, you know, they're obviously excellent. But there are some pockets of it where they have reason to kind of worry, and I think, you know, the level of confidence that they has very high, but dealing with narrow margin swimmer talking about this time of year so on page, this confidence is probably higher due to his experience level due. The fact that he's planning to home and do the fact that his team is probably better shape than Los Angeles right now, you know, roster health so again narrow margins there Lillian teams traded the Rams for their problems. But I think when you talk about that kind of ED's Peyton having won SuperBowl head coach. More playoff having coached longer. Therefore, experienced more engaged situations that require quick reactions. There's no question at that favors door liens in a situation like this. I think so this is a game where there's not a big margin. This is a game where the Vegas odds, basically say it's three and a half point line. Basically these teams would be there'd be a half point of difference on a neutral field and the saints have home field advantage. That's gonna make them the favorites. But I mean, this is this is a close game. And that could be the difference between these teams winning and losing this games. And I wonder if it's not that I wonder if it's going to be one of the star players neither side of these games just being so dominant that they could make a difference being the the people who sort of single handedly win this game. And some extent that already happened with Michael Thomas twice this year. And that was against the these very Rams earlier this year when he had two hundred eleven yards twelve catches on a touchdown. And then last week he was dominant against the eagles or he was converting third in twenty or thirty and fifteen seemingly on a on a regular..

"They took those too early punches and recovered from the defense buckle down, especially after Sheldon rankings went out of big loss for them. And we could show up again this week as I'm sure we'll discuss but the defense lock it down and the offense they did it out. And I think, you know, the figuring it out, and we talked about coaches, it's the figuring it out that we're success life. And I think the saints are team that is deep enough and strong enough in so many areas of their roster that they're quipped to figure out the problem even as the game is going along. And I think they made it right adjustments. And I think you know, you evaluate that based on the whole they did enough to win. Now feel goal to go up six and give hold back the ball anything at all. My goodness. We've seen this before. So it wasn't. It wasn't until the last interception. So you know, if you're saints fan so good about it. But you know, the final scores the final score the old Jim Valvano surviving advance theory. And the saints are hopeful that was their worst playoff game. Get think realistically they've gotten. They haven't really taken much criticism for the decision to run the ball on third down invents of that field goal. Try and because of what happened next with the interception, of course, they'd be taking flak for it had an hour out the same way. But I thought Sean Payton did a very good job in that game. In terms of you know, the fake punt was really gutsy calling it worked, and the you know, not not settling for the field goal on fourth down on fourth and goal from the two yard line down fourteen. I think a lot of coaches would have been comfortable saying, hey, we made it this far. We haven't done anything on offense. Let's just take three points. And we'll worry about getting later, and he didn't he went forward and fourth in two got it on that fake screen and corner out to Keith Kirkwood and really sort of you know, help turn the title that game. So I do think that Sean Payton overall, I think that a pretty good job of coaching his way like you said out of that rut, making adjustments and figuring out something to win that football game. In a man who faked I'm sorry. Onside kick on this in the second half of simple open the second half of Super Bowl against Peyton Manning the colts and that worked out so he's not due to us the Sean Payton sort of has a knack for knowing when to take the chance, but also has the team. And I think that's the key. This man coaching with a great deal of confidence. And it's confidence born of of his own success in the way. But it's also confidence born of what he has on his roster. If they run the ball third-down part of the reason is they think they might be able to get it that they have played running back that they don't need to throw the ball in order to pick up a big chunk of yardage. And obviously, you know, you're hoping that the other team guesses passed in a situation that sort of visually screens for pass. But I think on pay you believe his roster can do a wide variety of things to win a game. And therefore that expands the list of things are willing. To try that might be a little bit unconventional off the beaten path. So I think you have an aggressive creative coach on with the kind of team that lends itself to to you know, that kind of coach using all his aggressive creative tendencies empowers. Let's it's interesting. You say that Dan because I feel kind of confused about show how Sean McVay manage that game last week because he has a great incredible offense a really talented running game. That was dominating the Cowboys. Obviously there are team that everyone is scared of them going for it on fourth and short net early in that game. He punts unforced in one. And then he goes for it at twenty three fifteen with seven minutes left in the game. When a field goal puts them up eleven points with seven minutes to go and not horrified by that decision. But I don't understand why you do one not do the other than they tried to draw the Cowboys off side for some reason. Call a time out come back run the ball. Score..

"I wish I was Jonas Asian when came through the next contract because think about the amunition you have like every single team and league wishes they hired by you know. So what does that? Yeah. It surprises me. Campbell Campbell has end. Dennis Allen have some head coaching experience. Allen has a couple of years of the Rangers Campbell had half the dolphins, you know? And I think it should be interesting to look at on Peyton guys, and Sean Payton was Sean McVay when they was in high school. Right. Like this. He's he's been a he's been up. He was an open coming offense mastermind, you know, twelve thirteen years ago. And obviously, it's it's born at self out. I think within the case Carmichael perception is that it's Peyton offense. And so you wonder how much car Michael has to do with it. And then in terms of Campbell. You know, he's he's been like the tight ends coach. But again, ask head coach experience. And that's I think he's got it could get a job in the next couple of years and Alan, you know, his defense. That's defense is out of style. Man. Like, unless unless you John Elway or I guess even Ross, you know, I think defensive guys anything but hiring a head coach. I think it's crazy. I mean, I don't think the right way to hire head coaches to say he's very good at coaching quarterbacks. And he'll be good with our quarterback is so much more to the job. But that's the way it went last week. And we'll see what you guys have success, and which ones aren't up to the task you sound skeptical. I am. I mean, I, you know, I just to me. I look at you know, guys did a great job coach. Yes. I know. Right. Call this place. Matt Nagy calls place. It's pretty clear when you look at the job, those guys did that they have some sort of, you know, overseer type of, you know, heft. Like, they definitely seem to command the whole Bill McVeigh does that too. Once you heard about McVay when he left Washington to take the job in LA was the Washington would miss him because he was the hyper organized one he was kind of one that kept the trains running on time building that that wasn't necessarily Jay Gruden strength. And I think you know, McVeigh's a guy that has an incredible capacity for a lot of different things. Not just drawing up plays and calling plays and get it. You know, figuring out when to go to all kind of stuff. I think he's I think people are underestimating on they think that they can sort of pick a affect civilly and have seen kind of success. I think people need to look at the example. I always looked at his Anthony Lynn with the chargers. This guy has he was not an offensive play caller for for very long. I'm not offense coordinator for very long, and he doesn't sit there and call his own place delegates, but he seems to have a very good handle on the overseer type of role, and he conveys that leadership quality that I think underestimate when it goes through this process. I think about the options that are available you'd imagine. There are more people who have those leadership qualities available on the defensive side of the ball right now. Then the offense of side of the ball. Like, you said, we will see certainly. Even gone started in their off-season program yet with those teams still a lot of time to go where we even get to before we can consider evaluating those head coaches. Let's get to this game. I'm really excited saints Rams. It's going to be a fun game. They played a really fantastic entertaining game earlier this year culminating in the Michael Thomas cell phone celebration that sort of on the game sealing touchdown. So we'll get to that in a little bit. But let's start with just last week. And what you saw in the saints eagles game. I mean, were you impressed with how they played and how they came back or did that early sort of struggle to you know, they went down fourteen nothing against the eagles that give you some pauses reason for concern.
