"It's the best of the guy Gordon show on WJR officials. A gaggle say that if you were on the school district's platform and using their email network, you have no reasonable expectation of privacy. That may be so but don't they have a right to disclose it Also? They looked at four billion emails last year yet 1400 school district and what's interesting is, you know, kids. We're talking about fashion styles. If they're talking about movies, they've watched recording artist. There's a lot of data to mine there. So there's a question about whether or not gaggle is selling it. What your kids we're talking about online. Through this network. What they say is They do not share or reuse personally identifiable information on the word your kid's name won't be attached to it. But that doesn't just that stopped short of saying that they don't use it at all. I thought that we were the way they were. Did it in the statement was kind of interesting. So are they also scraping data? From what your kids are talking about as well. And that's that cross the liner. Is it fair game if they're around the schools email network. And I also wondered if they're screening all of these things. They also screening yours is apparent. We had an email address through our kid's school. Um, does that mean that they were screening hours or could In the future. And isn't this the subtle erosion drip by drip of some of your privacy rights? Let's get two cannons calling in from Livonia. Hello, Ken. Well, first, I would have to say that I would see it as if I wasted a privacy. But there's another question. Now I know families that their Children which some are in college, do not use the technology which would make this possible. No email. No Internet. No, nothing. And, uh, just like me. I don't use the Internet for anything. And so would this be a mandatory saying they would try to forced on people. Or was this just an optional thing that if you use is to ticket her sight, then this is how it would take your attendance. Yeah, The funny thing you hear is you know they're going to have a set of standards. Now you wonder if if it is such a great thing at what point they will say. Well, if you want to be a student of this school, you can't opt out of this. You've gotta walked in. You must accept our means of taking attendance. I would be nervous about that. I would also be nervous about the fact that they could track me beyond the classroom. They say they don't do that now. The fact that you don't do it doesn't mean that you can't do it or that you won't do it at some point in the near future, if it serves your purposes, and that's what concerns me, Ken, Thanks for your call. Susan calling in from Livonia and Susan, You've got some knowledge of this. Well, um, so a friend of mine. Her daughter was attending high school and they were doing tactic and she was doing some research. But what happened this gaggle Because of the research, he was doing out suicide. It clicked in the system and alerted accomplish or whoever And they immediately called in the parents separated the kid from appearance until the parents that you know, I would think your daughter seven an issue that you haven't talked about suicide. My company found out later on that it was a topic that she was doing it. You know, a reporter So it was a false red flag, then Yeah, So that's the only issue is that the teachers have sometimes they need to alert the council or something. So let them know. Hey, they might be doing some research or something like that. If they can scrape this and look at this, it should have been obvious from what she was talking about that it was a school project or school research. You wonder how it got that far without somebody using some critical thinking skills there. Well, it wasn't until they get and they scared the parents going. Oh, my. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, anything in this man, and it wasn't until the deep dyed and finally talk to, you know, get together, and she's just like it's a research paper. I'm doing so as a mom. Do you think that the benefit outweighs that the loss of privacy And do you think you have a right to privacy if you're using the school's email network? Well, I think that you know, it does benefit does I'll do it? It's just that you gotta watch it, too, because you don't want to put a person and especially parents and the stick and Oh, my God, what's going on? Because it scares you know everyone, um, but in regards to how was going out nowadays? I mean, I'm for that, as opposed to what? You were talking earlier about college and you know what time do we cut the drug you no symptoms and let the kids the kids, I tell Mike Did you turn out Because when you get to college a curative power because the teachers could care less if you attend because they got their money. Right, And here's the thing. This is where you're supposed to develop life skills. It's supposed to be where you develop self discipline and learn how to operate the alarm clock and get yourself out of bed in the class. And if you can't do that, and if you can find alternative means of getting the information that you're going to fail, and you're gonna be washout, but it should be up to them. This is part of growing up. What part of going to college is all about? And again? I'm worried about what their intent is down the road. Susan. Thank you for your cop. And we can get back to this. But in the meantime, it is Tuesday. That means it's time for mobility makers taking a look at the expansion of Eve es, especially when it comes to General Motors and their production at what we affectionately know is the pole town plant. The Hamtramck plant. Dan Flores is GM manufacturing communications. He joins us this afternoon with the exciting details he did. Guys. Thanks for having me out. We're talking 2.2 billion in investment. What kind of vehicles are we talking about? That will be produced there, and this is obviously goes far beyond the bolt. Obviously so yesterday we did announce a $2.2 billion investment, herky jerky and traffic and that money will be used to prepare.

"Can you? Daniel wrote a book called National Wildlife Refuges of the Southwest for Audubon ST Martin's Press. And we're talking about those refugees here in New Mexico. We talked about bitter lakes. We talked about Busqueda Apache and the other one Ah, east of Las Vegas again was called Just Las Vegas. Just National Wildlife Refuge. Ah, you can visit that possibly and maybe stop by the The new wilderness near Las Vegas and well as well. All right, so the other refugees here in in New Mexico, Daniel So north of Vegas near Springer is the Maxwell National Wildlife Refuge. Um, which is one of the smaller ones here in the state. But it's on ah, Siri's of natural planes, a Playa lakes so again, it attracts a lot of migratory birds. Bird lights, and there's fishing their maximum and believe it or not, Some of the refugees have hunting, so I'm not sure about natural, but I think there's also maybe deer hunting there. Okay, um There's another one south of Albuquerque between Albuquerque and It's a quarrel that's called Savi ETA National Wildlife Refuge. It's It's an unusual one, and that it has actually limited public access. Only small portion of of the of the lakes of a pond. Eden area is open to the public for viewing, but large portion of it is dedicated. To long term scientific research. So they're conducting studies that take decades to unfold. Um and therefore they don't want the public to Interfere with the natural processes that are unfolding there. So it's a very important scientific center on and then just south of Albuquerque, actually inside the city limits now. Is the newest wildlife refuge. It's not included in my book because it actually was created just in the last five or six years. Um, it's an old Farm in the South Valley near the river near the boss, Kay that's been purchased by the feds and is now into the public, and I heard it's It's a really great urban National Wildlife Refuge, which is seems like a contradiction in terms. But it's AH has a wonderful farm program as well as on the natural habitat. So That's interesting as well. You know, Unfortunately, the name is slipping my mind something Della world right order like Muscatel. Yeah, That's so That's the system in New Mexico, Texas has even more units has like 14 units. Arizona has about 10 on DH. Colorado was rich in them as well. So If you really want to get up the beaten track isn't the National Wildlife Refuge system of the United States. Fantastic are our guests, Daniel Gibson wrote the book called National Wilder Wildlife Refuges of the Southwest route of on ST Martin's Press. All right. Tell us about the story you did for the new Mexican that never came to life called for Ben Viennese magazine. Ah, and some of the people you featured in it. Yeah, This was a publication that comes out every year. Published by the new Mexican cop Bienvenidos. It's kind of a summer guy to northern New Mexico and I've been the editor of it several times. This last issue is almost done, and when it was decided to kill it, unfortunately, so, ah, lot of finished articles never saw the light of day, including a piece that I wrote myself. Called Get Your Guide on Professional tour guides can get you into the wilds inside Akiva or down a hidden Santa Fe alley. That sound starts off. Go out, says So you've been here forever. Or you recently arrived and read every scrap of literature. You can about getting out that most of the great outdoors. You think you know it all. And maybe you do. Some people in institutions in Santa Fe just might know a thing or two. You don't know about that little trail above the waterfall on the CEO and video. What's over the next hill? You're peddling up. Or that big boulder. You're about to hit on the radio. These are the people who've made getting to know every nook and cranny of our natural realm. Their profession there the outdoor guy to know what that tree or plant is noted. For what that animal track is in the snow or how long it really takes to hide from the Canyon Road to the summit of Picacho Peak. So that's the beginning of that story. And then I went on to describe a handful of specific guiding companies and what they focus on. Um and I discovered really that there's a really rich and large guiding Community here in Santa Fe, and there's a professional associations for them. Um ah, that has something like 25 members in it. It's the Santa Fe Tour Guides Association and There's everything in there from walking tours of Santa for his art galleries to somebody who guides you up. Churches, peaks. Um, there's river rafting. There's rock climbing, there's birdieing theirs. Butterfly experts. There's historical experts. There's cultural people. Um it's really a rich community and I was really impressed with, you know their knowledge and their enthusiasm and They come with all the gear you need. Um, so it's a great way to sample like rock climbing where you don't have to go on investing all the the gear and buy it. I'll take you around, rig you up, and you could see if you like it course. Whitewater rafting. Which many people here have taken advantage of. So I did a whole series of profiles on on these companies and these individuals and Uh, it was. I wish I had the time in the Funds to go out and publisher haven't eventually reaches them, right. Okay, Order to publish this guy That would be a really good, well useful thing for the guiding community and the public that's the accused to their website. Yeah, you can go to their website Santa Fe tour guide dot org's And look a and they they have contacts were free to each one and tell you what their specialties are and so forth Photos. So Daniel in our remaining time here today. Ah, you also did the great outdoors and you finish articles on some of the great writers around. New Mexico in the outdoors, and you wanted to share a little bit of one who lives down near Syria's Hope to have him on sometime. It's called Coyote America. Tell us about him and read us a little bit of his his piece. If you don't mind. Sure, well that you're referring to Dan Flores. He wrote the book Coyote America, which was on the New York Times best seller list, as well as a number of other fascinating book, Caesar. A wildlife historian, which is very unusual calling, Um and I got him to write a piece for us, Um, that Focuses on the Canadian River Gorge, which is a little known, uh, geographic feature on the Eastern Plains near there. We're going to run out in time. We're going around in time, Daniel, you share a little bit of Dan's writing, please. All right. Daniel Gibson is our guest and he's going to read some. I believe from Coyote America by Dan Flores who lives down there. I'm told by serious Go ahead. Actually, this is the essay he wrote for Bienvenidos. Okay, it's called Down down the unsung Canadian River Gorge. It starts off. If you know that the horizontal yellow country east of the Rocky Mountains in Mexico possesses one of the grandest canyons anywhere on the Great Plains..

"And was on the drawing boards actually damage very covering it we went through with the whole process of getting the market and now more more you're hearing about electric cars and that there's a bigger bigger investment of and wild the the sales may not be going off the charts just yet there're there're increasing and it's becoming a bigger part of the industry at General Motors big announcement yesterday two billion dollar investment Hamtramck MI it's going to bring in twenty two hundred jobs in the gonna build electric cars spokesman for General Motors Dan Flores joining us sees on the other end of our line Dan good morning good morning Frank thanks for having me on well nice to have you with us congrats on this it's this is a big deal yeah Frank it's certainly is as you indicated yesterday we announced a commitment to invest two point two billion into that you try and try to plan to produce a variety of all electric trucks and SUVs but first truck will be to pick up and it'll roll off the assembly line beginning late next year late at twenty twenty one and so what of excitement certainly this secures the future for Detroit Hamtramck but also what is big for the state of Michigan because you know investments like this will continue to keep the Michigan automotive industry at the at the epicenter of of the global automotive industry yeah and your competitors have to compete in this market so you know that's going to that's going to drive even I think the production of more of these types of vehicles rooms absolutely you know you know we we've we've made it clear that you know we believe that all electric future investments like this and investment that we've made that we announced about a month ago in Lordstown Ohio where work at our partner with our joint venture partner LG KM to invest also more than two billion dollars actually about two point three billion dollars to create a battery cell baby factory plant large town it ultimately those battery cells built in Ohio is at the lower stock to sell it he will be used at the vehicles built at the chart and traffic so big news for Michigan but really big news for the Midwest in in further can be a bit of GM to support and strengthen our US manufacturing base Hey Dan and the E. you mentioned that this is this is the next step here obviously and in the continuing development of of going toward a fleet that may be all electric Sunday and I'm just wonder how far away we could be from that is is there any kind of to any kind of timetable that's now said no not not not really you know certainly it it's not going to happen overnight you know without a doubt the internal combustion engine is going to be with us for years if not decades but as you indicated early on in there in your introduction you know the the industry is moving this way and you know we're excited to be part of it works I stated to lead this transformation and you know our CEO Mary Barra has said on many occasions there's more change that we anticipate in the industry in the next five years then there's been really in the last fifty so tremendous change tremendous opportunity you know I obviously would change sometimes there's there's fear but all but there's also opportunity and we're looking at at this change is an opportunity to kind of re recreate the company and you know investments like the one we announced yesterday and the tracking of traffic as well as the one that you know a month or so ago in Lordstown Ohio are are proof that you know we are taking big steps forward in making our vision of an all electric future they make it a reality so very exciting times for everyone yeah well I can tell you as a as a guy who's always been a room room guy you know with the more horsepower the better in the my V. eight I I gotta tell ya I drove the Chevy volt at the LA Auto Show in Los Angeles through the streets of LA and and then later on I drove a Tesla back here electric vehicle and you know it electric is got a lot going for it and and I like at the at the only concern I still have is not being able to fill up at the at the gas pump as quickly as I can now that's all yeah well you know this is certainly you bring up some legitimate points that you know that there are still still issues that are that the industry and mortars he's to solve issues what costs you know the the the cost of the technology is court that traditional Kerr a question here ratings ID get charging infrastructure so as as those issues come last as for technology introduce costs will come down battery rates will go up it is as there are more charging places as the the charging infrastructure gets bigger and stronger you know that dot the concerns that are minimizing the customer at adoption will be will be because last it'll get that that's why you're getting certainly this is not going to happen overnight.

"Good morning it is seven in here on the P. C. O. day radio program lad having hanging out with us here on our Wednesday and it is a busy busy busy Wednesday for our weekly conversation with lieutenant governor Dan forest who decided that to on that was M. okay day you spoke at a church Sir well yeah that was one of two different speeches in okay day here in Raleigh and I think the Friday before I was in the Charlotte for another M. okay about well we just to was so what you decide is you decided to apparently offend the sensibilities of very is journalists here in the state by pointing out a quote that's not even a push back as being accurate from awarding standpoint of the founder Planned Parenthood Margaret Sanger who is quoted as saying quote we don't want word to go out there we want to exterminate the Negro population and the minister and referring to was it boys I is the man who could straight out that idea if it ever occurs the argument being that those are saying is words those were not meaning so when Dan Flores said that Planned Parenthood was initially founded as a way to a radic Kate are the black community beer your big fat liar essentially so what say you Sir well I think we could you know Margaret Sanger's words have been debated for like a hundred years by a lot of the people she said a lot of the things you can go anybody out there and listening type that Margaret Sanger question you're gonna find all kinds of things would probably offend you today but you know the results are still the same Casey you know she was a big proponent of eugenics was a baby of maybe a lot of people were left without the R. L. says but I we look back on things all the time and year change our positions on how those things will be even more treated culturally but the left has a double standard on doing that but you look back and you say listen just since nineteen seventy three almost twenty million black babies have been aborted in America very disproportionate number for that community and we talk about things like you and I do all the time about human dignity and the breakdown of American family specifically fatherlessness and does have a huge impact on their community and I think I really do believe that we're gonna look back one day and we're gonna we're gonna look back to this issue of abortion America we're gonna stick waded through a similar things like slavery and say this is just as atrocious how did we go through this process killing all these babies and that so you know I stand for like it's going to be yeah the selection is clearly have offended that B. R. L. opted to do just that after W. R. L. all contribute to offend Planned Parenthood but understand politely I believe in protecting the most vulnerable in our communities our governor yeah he came out vetoed the born alive built babies born on tables are American citizens laying there on the table and he says no you don't have to protective life nothing yeah I call that a fansite I think a lot of people do I think that's very unamerican but it's just shows a lack of human dignity that we face today so I really have no problem walking into any church black white or anything else and talking about the atrocities of the breakdown of the family in human dignity and and what abortion is doing to our communities well not directly attributed to year they also took issue with something that was offered by when your staff members and we're done it about whether Martin Luther king Jr near would support abortion or not are we really have in this debate now well you know what they say is Martin Luther king got an award in nineteen sixty six what's weird because the mass of that but yeah yeah the map but quite work on that one does it is white what an accepted the award for about all the stuff is a big proponent of abortion a Planned Parenthood about you know support that she's anything else in the article so you know listen we know what Martin Luther king start for this is what my speech was about my speech was about unity it was about bringing people together was route bridging the divide about racial reconciliation about coming together and how we come together and how we you know protect what's most dear to us in one of those things of life so we talked about the unity and racial reconciliation and certainly civil rights and justice but we also talked about life in the mix of all that as well and bouncing around we get three topping so want to get too so that rough transition former Duke lobbyist Kathy Hawkins quoted in a Carolina journal article rather it's the documents that are part of this article there was some there was some back and forth over the slush fund the fifty seven point eight million dollar voluntary initiative payment for the pipeline partners day and whether the governor made the permitting contingent upon it and whether the governor's office asked for it the governor's office said neither of those are true there representative it was a UT I can can UT who testified actually for the legislature said it wasn't true Hawkins the lobbyist at the time now says it is true you've called for F. B. I. investigation into this what where we add on this well awhile back in fact.
