"There you go. Yep, lions are on the 81 hell yeah, delta 8 fly as a pilot. All right, I want to talk about this org structure. There's been a lot of people talking about, oh, right, what? He said he doesn't lady. That's the only thing about football. That's 5 years ago. He's been up in the front office. You learn a thing or two over the course of 5 years of doing something every day. At the highest level. That's fine. But rod wood is the top dog of this organization. He is in charge, okay? You have a GM in Brad Holmes, who reports to rod wood. You have a head coach in Dan Campbell. Who interestingly reports to rod wood, instead of the GM. So they both report to rod wood. And then he had to have Mike Disney, you know, your football ops caps, et cetera, that kind of stuff. He reports to rod wood. All right? This is something people are like, well, it doesn't know football house is going to work. This is something much, much more like a an organizational corporate organization. If you think about it, you've got your research and development, you have manufacturing, you have sales, you have your G and a, which is your HR and IS, and IT, and all that stuff right in the middle in the middle. They're kind of in those towers. Okay? So what happens? Well, R&D, that's probably your Brad Holmes role. Right? Manufacturing? That's probably your Dan Campbell row. That G and a, really. That's Mike Disney role. Those three guys all report to the CEO. The CEO is not necessarily an expert in all of those areas. And Eddie organization. Those top leaders run those businesses themselves and have to work together. And R&D has to be able to come up with a product so that manufacturing can create it can make it. And so that sales can sell it. They all have to work together. They all have to create their piece of the product cycle so that the company is successful. They have to work together. They have to apply resources, assets, everything else in order for that whole organization to succeed. And often, a good CEO will have creative conflict amongst those people and drive them to say, why is this happening? So let's put an example out here, okay? Play your axes on the board case is on the board. What's he going to do for the Detroit Lions? What Holmes he's going to step up and say, look, here's the talent that case has. He's a little slow, mentally. Not a high football IQ. Low lung capacity. Not really good at the bench. But God darn.

"School and whatever else, but definitely want to watch. One of the things to think about and I was a 100% with you case before we hired homes. First round wide receiver and then just bury four picks into the defense, right? Just go blank deep into the defense. And the idea of homes being kind of a Wheeler and dealer, maybe finding somebody else who wants that 7th pick. Yeah. And getting ourselves some later picks. I would not be opposed to that at all. That's where you start to say, hey, maybe we're going to find an eco Collins there. I'm not super excited about how I see the draft falling right now. And again, it's early guys, so let's not get too caught up in it. But that's yearly for us. That is yearly for the Lions. Did we just always end up at the worst cusp where we can't quite get the blue chip player we want. So we have to settle for something else because we aren't able to trade back. But if you think about it, let's just devonta Smith is small, but he's a name that everyone loves to study Smith. Think about picking a Ballon Robinson and devonta Smith in this draft. What that does. All of a sudden Matthew Stafford, who won you all those games with half a gallaudet and the corpse of Marvin Jones. He almost had a thousand yards. I know. Our tight end almost had as many yards. No, I love it. He's really good. I love Marvin Jones. But you put Alan Robinson out there. Like a Devante Smith. Holy cow. All of a sudden, you've just lit the world on fire with his offense. Deandre swift, the whole thing. Real potential with just a couple of moves and then you can really hit the defense. This is what I said in my vlog last week that we may not be as far away as so many people think we are with this team and that's why the retool will be versus rebuild over hearing from mister Holmes is such a possible starter here. Let me hit loretto really quick if you don't mind case. Okay. Let me know. Thank you again for the super chat. Saints think they're a quarterback away now and have picks and talent they can give away. The only way you get great capital for Stafford is if a team only needs a veteran quarterback to win a Super Bowl. And that's where and again, thanks loretto. That's where like a colts Indianapolis coats, I think they are probably a couple other teams think they are. The saints are in real big problem. They're like 35 million over in the cap, right? They've got a whole implosion. They don't think they could afford Stafford. They also, I do think they'll what's his name, their backup quarterback, who does everything. I will not be surprised if they run offense primarily through him next year. What's his name? What's the dude's name? He does everything for him. Take snaps at QB. Taysom Hill? Yeah, that's the one. Thank you. I got you broke. I got you. All right. So there you go. Okay, again, and I don't want to, I'm just really stoked about what we got coming up here about this organizational and rod wood and all this. I think people are all wrong. I think you guys are some of the smartest listeners on the Internet. I know that. But there's so many people on Twitter that are just so wrong, so wrong. All right. Let's talk about really quick Aaron Glenn for former cornerback in the NFL. And his career with the saints after two games he had ankle injury that ended the season for him and he wound up on IR. Coached around wound up being the secondary coach for the saints since 2016 he's there now with danimal. Dan is really high in this guy. I mean, he came in ready to go. What's the downside? Well, if you think about it, you got yourself some homes. You got yourself some Dan Campbell, and you got yourself some Aaron Glenn. There's not a whole lot of experience there. So you start to start thinking about what does this mean, what could this be? Where are you and Aaron Glenn? Case, how do you feel? Well, I mean, he was a head coaching candidate for New York this year. They went with sailor, but I mean, he, if you get somebody who's on people's list as a potential head coach, come in as a coordinator, that at least looks good. I don't know enough about his schemes, his stuff, you know, again, the whole theme around this off season around this coaching staff and front office so far is new. And mystery and not really knowing what to predict, to be honest. So it's really difficult to guess for sure. But he certainly has a solid track record with what the saints secondary has been doing under him the last four years. So there is no reason not to like that idea. He's certainly one of the guys with hype around him and would I rather have a guy with hype around him than a guy that nobody likes. Yeah, sure. And we did hire two guys that had all kinds of hype around him in bob Quinn and map Patricia. And hype isn't necessarily it. Remember how disappointed everyone was when we had a settle for a hot Caldwell because we couldn't get the whiz whiz and hunt? Yeah. We'll outlasted him. So the hype is not necessarily the way you want to. The reality is, is evaluating these guys is probably about as difficult as evaluating a quarterback in the NFL. There's all kinds of things there that you look at, all kinds of tangibles and intangibles, but man, is it difficult to get right? It is so difficult to get right, reliably. So we'll see, I like the idea that Dan knows him. Let's see what Joe B has here. Do you think that code Dan, the barbarian can bully Stafford into staying? I don't think he has to. I really don't think he has to. I don't think a lot of fans have been saying for years and years and years that they saw that they thought they saw the writing on the wall that staff were going to leave the lines. And yet he hasn't. They've been wrong every single time that doesn't mean they can't be right eventually. But I just don't think I think Stafford likes playing with the lines. I don't think he likes losing with the Lions. But I think he likes being where he is. I think Matthew Stafford knows the value of winning in Detroit and what it could bring. That is really the epitome of a career in the NFL right now to win in Detroit. There's no team. The browns this year were great and the story was awesome and they didn't quite make it to where it to the end point, but sorry. So we're not. It was a great story. To be the one that turned around a team like Detroit, your name will be forever etched in the history books, like turning the cubs around, right? It's that kind of a thing. Matthew Stafford believes it has believed that it was possible. What you need for Matthew Stafford right now, your two choices are he retires. Or he buys in and believes. Okay, I don't think he's going to trade away. I really, really don't think that he's going to get traded away. It is an option. You're going to hear a lot about Denver and Detroit and Denver chasing Matthew Stafford this year. I just don't think it's one of the dumbest things you could do as a new GM is trade away a franchise quarterback for an unknown. Because for the quarterback is the tell me one team that wins without a quarterback in the NFL. Not one. There is not one. And if you don't have a top ten quarterback, you ain't flying. Where are you going to find a top ten quarterback to replace Matthew Stafford? You can't do it this year. You can't. I just don't see him letting him go. So that's what leads me with the two choices of Matthew either retires early and then we have that narrative to deal with or he's convinced that this is a thing and he wants to play and he figures out how to be here. We'll see. And Matthew Stafford's not a half answer. He's not just going to show up and not do it..

"But you're going to see me, I'm going to go against my own narrative. I am going to do this later, but let's hit loretto really quick, Chris, you're more wrong than right about the creating holes. If you've got a coach who doesn't know how to develop a talent, it's always a whole. It's always a hole. Why not both loretto? Why not? Well, I agree with him in a large part. I think that both of our last coaching staffs were not great at developing talent. I didn't think Caldwell was very good at developing talent at all or his or the rest of his staff underneath him, especially on offense other than so you downgrade. You downgraded a position expecting your coach to do his job and your coach doesn't do his job so you get the double whammy of what we saw here last week, which is the way he wants it. All right, we also got cliff in the super chat and thank you again, loretto for the appreciate it. Cliff. Danny said his first priority is bringing back the black jerseys. Now, this is obviously is there a more contentious issue in lion's family? This is key for performance, but is it the right kind of key for the right kind of performance? A lot of people have PTSD about the whole black Jersey thing. I think they looked okay. I liked the sense. I like black as a color. I like what the color black kind of it's a little bit more foreboding. And look, I love the blue. The gray uniforms that was never a big fan of, right? The all gray cutthroat color rush, whatever they had. And I like them, but I know I'm in the minority on that, to be honest, I think. They're fun. It's fun, it's fun. But the black, I just like how it's imposing. And colors matter, right? I mean, I remember they used to paint locker rooms, pink when they realized that it actually people were like physically less strong when they saw the color pink around them than when they saw the colors. It was really physically performed at a lower level. So they started doing that in locker rooms and they made rules around it and everything else crazy, crazy time. Sure. So yeah, no, I'm down with the black. I'm also, look, if you want to think about it from the perspective of, you know, it's jinxed or whatever else, right? And it's bad for the team. Maybe you should just do not be alliance fan because if you haven't noticed, they haven't won in a long time and they've won all different colors of the uniform. So there you go. That's that. So I'm okay with that. All right, Dan Campbell, what does he bring? Well, he brings a leadership style, right? He brings, he's authentic. And I think that's a key word here that's a real shift. We talk about the pendulum shift between players from one side to the other, authenticity is so important. You didn't have that from map Patricia. He tried to be what he thought. A good coach was. He tried to drive players in a way he thought was good, but it wasn't authentic people saw through him and it was in a way very embarrassing. Where Dan, Dan is Dan, right? And he reminds me a bit of Mike grabel. Mike frabel and I know they can't run the drill anymore, but my gravel says run the Oklahoma drill, he's going to be the first guy on the field running Oklahoma Joe against one of his players. He isn't going to ask people to do what he doesn't do. Dan Campbell is very much the same way. As we know. He's very, very highly motivated. He's very, very high energy. He's quite fit, I'll say. My wife is massively in love with the pick, much like the black jerseys idea. This is different. This is more on the external kind of features. Yeah, Dan looks like he's got the right stuff. This is a guy that you can talk about variable. I think you can probably make some comparisons along with Sean mcvay as well. He's a guy that knows how to drive players to push him when they need to be pushed and want to come a hug when they need a hug. Right. And you mentioned the pendulum thing and I was going to bring that up too because we've talked about it many times before about how when you have a coach of a certain style, the hard line of Patricia. It's normal for an organization to swing the other way. That doesn't in and of itself mean that that's a good thing. Because as we've seen through Lions history, we've had a lot of these pendulum swings. And the concern will be will the cerebral element of coaching be his strong suit. And again, I am not trying to be pessimistic about it. We just don't know yet, because we've seen so little of him in that role, the decision making on the field type stuff, that will be what we're watching for. Week one. That'll be what we're watching for. Season one from Dan Campbell is how effective is he on the field? Yeah, yeah, 100%. More to be seen. The Dan will press conference will be tomorrow at 11 a.m., I believe. Now, I'll tell you, we will have live coverage, it's not going to be right away, okay? It's not going to be at 12 o'clock. We're going to do it. It's more likely around four ish in the afternoon three, four in the afternoon, eastern. We'll have coverage of the danimal press conference and any other announcements that may be happening. So keep your ears peeled for those. And then I also want to talk about something that's changed before we get into some of these other guys. The combine for the NFL. Is not happening this year. And you talk about a difficult time for a head coach and a GM to evaluate talent. Do it a year without the NFL combine. Okay? They're going to have to go to pro days like crazy to see these players. And they're going to have to focus on the players that pro days that they attend is going to mean so much more this year. There's not going to invite to come to Alan park. I don't know if they're going to do that this year. That's going to mean a lot more. There's a lot less smoke screens in how this is going to be happening this year. But I'm going to tell you something that you guys should really, really, really pay attention to. Senior bowl. It's still on. They're still playing a game. They're still doing practice, and we're probably the only people that are going to be right in there covering it. Credentialed media for the senior bowl guys like, oh, Nico Nico Nico, what's his last name, help me? Mister Nico Collins, thank you very much. Nico Collins Collins University of Michigan wide receiver, big frame fella, right? Physical, good, good hands, 6 four, two 22, nice size. But he's a guy that's not projected to go too high because he opted out with COVID this year. Guess what? He's going to be there at the senior bowl. He's going to be performing. He could definitely go from a day three draft pick to a day two, maybe even better depending on his performance here at the senior bowl. This is going to be interesting stuff to see. And we will have interviews of players, Nico is one of the ones we submitted for on our list. Throughout the week, we've got a whole week of senior bowl coverage, guys, and it's more important than it's ever been with the state of the combine now. So we'll let you know what's going on. We have live streams. It will be salmon. It will be risden. It'll be myself, and we're going to squeeze case in wherever we can as well, to make that happen. His work schedules a little wonky though and kind of has him in a little bit of as if his jockey were a bit tight. So I think mikko will be an interesting guy for sure just because I think there's a high probability that the lions end up going after a wide receiver in the first round this year. But then I but then I think they absolutely have to switch the focus to the defense for pretty much the rest of the draft. In the third round, if he has a solid showing or if he's even available in the fourth round, that could very well be a pick that has influence in the future. Here's where Nico makes a lot of influence for the Lions and let's talk about availability is important this year. He's working out in Pensacola, so he's not up in Ann Arbor, real super easy to get at, right? Like some of the guys that were maybe local in our personal.

"Yeah. How anticlimactic is it that I'm just going to say the same thing? I have no idea what to expect out of him. He's the first time he's not a first time first time head coach. But this is his first time truly holding the reins of an organization the way he's going to. And I think a lot of it, when you get a situation like that, a lot of it always depends on who they're able to fill in around them. And I know that a lot of people are excited about the possibility of Glenn coming with him from the saints. We would like to see that. And presence in Detroit is what brought us Glenn. That would be a good thing. That would be a very good thing. I think we'd all be, that would give us lots of room for optimism. If not, they're going to have to get creative with who they want to bring in. Maybe wade Phillips, like you want. I really do. But you're going to see me, I'm going to go against my own narrative. I am going to do this later, but let's hit loretto really quick, Chris, you're more wrong than right about the creating holes. "So kristen eck. We've got to start the story in january of this year at dan campbell's introductory press conference. I wanted this job bad. Because i felt like i knew this community i played here all right on. Everything's seemingly normal and then things get a bit more interesting. I can sit up here and give you coach. Speak all day long. I can give you You know. Hey we're gonna win this many game. I can't that none of that matters in you. Guys don't want to hear it anyway. You've had enough of that shit. So excuse my language then. He drops his magnum opus. So this is going to be built on. We're gonna kick you in the teeth all right and when you punch us back. We're going to smile at you and when you knock us down we're going to get up and on the way up we're going to buy to kneecap off all right and we're going to stand up and then it's going to take two more shots you cover the team for the athletic. What was your reaction to this. I mean i think like everyone else. I was sort of just in shock for a few minutes. Just trying to figure out where he was going with everything but as we'll talk about. I'm sure that was very much dan campbell. I think the people who know him weren't all that surprised to hear that speech from him. It was funny to hear you know brad. Homes in new. General manager was introduced at the same time and he said several times since. I'm glad i got to go first. Because i don't think i could follow that up but i i think that that's you know that's what you get from dan campbell and i think that's what they wanted from dan campbell. They wanted some energy and some authenticity. And i think the fan base really responded to it. I don't know how the players necessarily took it or people in the general public but for this particular fan base. I think it went over pretty well. Neko ear thoughts when you heard it a big pro wrestling fan l. admission here and that's what that was a professional wrestling promo is having talked to him since talking all these guys for the story like he didn't planet it wasn't scripted. It was something that he said and you can kind of tell because he when he said the kneecaps thing he did it like exclaim it he just sort of set it like the most nonchalantly normal way is like to. We're going to play when your kneecaps off. And then he just kept going to the next point. It's like this is just what this guy. This is off the cuff. You could kind tell. And i think that there was a lot of authenticity with that

"Com So We appreciate of course, Southern recipe jumping on sponsoring Tekin Terry Appreciate you folks very much we'll We'll do what we do. Bring the Super Bowl to you from about 3 Ft of snow in about 900 miles away, but it's all good. We have two iconic players Super Bowl 55 is going to be great. And obviously, every day, we'll work up to what I thought. Brady said. Some really interesting things earlier today about Bill Bella check. We've kind of wondered about that We can. We'll give you a sense of what he said. And you know, you start getting some Some thoughts from the players. We get closer to the to the game here, but no pertaining to Stafford. All right, So it again. I'm with you. I don't think that this is Like a throwaway on the part of the Lions. They while the Naber it could be a little strong. They seem genuinely intrigued by by the prospects of and and by the way, Jared Goff seems pretty pleasant, pleasantly. Surprised and and at least and happy with his new address. He was It wasn't going well there for a while, Um, but I do think we're about to get the answer. To something that is fun to talk about. Frustrating when you don't actually get the definitive answer, And that is truly AH guy and not just after there's a lot of these players, a guy who puts up big numbers And they're low pressure numbers on and then all of a sudden they're thrust into a stage where there's more eyeballs. There's more critics is more evaluations, and you want to see if it matches the previous stats and stature. Yeah, right. I got to be good, And there's an expectation for success. Not just can we get the 500 think about that. That was the goal. It's been the goal. Inside, I think and outside your organization really forever. It feels like and that's doing a disservice to Jim Caldwell and some of those great teams that he had not great but playoff teams he had, but that's what it's felt like. I feel like since the moment we've been doing this show together, BT we've been saying The courts. You know Detroit's coming, this might be their year. Detroit might have a shot this year, and every year something gets derailed, or they bring in the wrong coach. Or I don't know. Running backs get hurt or they trade. You know, great defensive players. I mean, it feels like every year. It's something with the with the Lions. They're not that they were ever gonna be Super Bowl viable, but I felt like for a while. We've said that Troy is gonna be a good team, and they just never conjugate to that point. Now can Dan Campbell change that? Yeah, I think he can, because he brings the right kind of grit and attitude that I think this team is needed for a long time. Not some, you know, you know, cast off from Bill Belichick mantra and sit up straight. Media members. Don't respect maze that. Come on, dude. What do you What do you doing, man? Let's start, man. It's a bad start. We called it. The bad starts. Always they never turn out. Well, BT, which is why I'm a little bit worried. By the way, we're really was Syriani and Billy that was hit. He was nervous, Nervous and just didn't look home didn't look like a About? Yeah, and they're gonna learn system and, um, yeah, I don't know if we have a starting quarterback but doing but we got a system. We got a system. Okay, Whatever. That is just another story. I'm gonna I'm gonna grab to keep a close eye on that one. I don't wanna be right about that. But I think we might be really well. We were right about gays, even though I was willing to give gays a chance when he was looked like he was like strung out on drugs. This was different. This was a guy that you know First. Gates was a coach before that, So there was no excuse. It's right. I Patricia Patricia, we kind of road. Same thing because of the hole. Sit up in the media thing. Yeah, that was bad. That was a bad start. I hope it's different. In Philly. I'm gonna chalk that up to be just being completely overwhelmed. But I'm prepared. It felt like to me was unprepared like to be the man and maybe I get it. I get it, but Joe jugs and look, I'm prepared to be the man and he was. He was a special teams coordinator, wide receiver coach. That was the highest he'd reach. He did not. Look, I'm prepared when he took the mic, right, Ben McAdoo. When he was the Giants introduces a giant head coach, and he couldn't even find the suit that fit. He looked unprepared. Right. That matter so much, Dan Campbell look prepared. He sounded prepared. Um s Oh, look, it's it's part of the deal. You got at least when the press conference and Syriani didn't but the point is that the way to the Rams I mean to the to the Lions. Okay, I think that they don't. They don't really know what to expect. And that's a good starting point because they don't have to expect anything right now. It's a new staff. There's there's a bunch of new coaches. Um A lot of men. First time positions like Marc Brunel has never been a quarterback coach. He's been coaching these clinics these quarterback clinics down in Florida, but he's never actually had a job as a quarterback. Coach s. Oh, that's that mean that's that's that's something. Obviously. Dan Campbell is young, Um and he's been an interim head coach, and he's been the assistant and goes down in New Orleans. It's his first time being the man, so the expectation will be tempered. And I think that that lack of pressure contrary to what you were talking about. With that, Stafford now going to the Rams, I think can help Jared Goff. Kind of fly below the radar and just execute do your job. Don't make the mistakes. That kind of got you pushed out. Of Los Angeles with the Rams take I look at the Lions. As you know, it's funny. A lot of people think I would say the Jets. No, the Jets of superior in terms of history to the lines, I would say. At least from my personal point of it. I think the lines are much more. You know, representative of the Knicks, all right, and I remember and we were doing these shows all the years when that debate was brewing. You know, Should the Knicks keep Carmelo and my whole thing was get rid of a man yet. You know, you're not getting it going nowhere with him. Um, you know he's putting up hollow numbers, and yet fans are latching onto that because he's mellow, but you know, it's It's going nowhere and I know it's different. The quarterback spot. It's not exactly the same. Understood One guy. I can't change the bottom line of football. Blah, blah, blah. I know But I would encourage line fans, too, And I think that most of our of the mindset Of this mighty, But if you're not just embrace change, embrace something new embrace something fresh and embrace the possibility. That you just hired smart people. You know that You never know what it's going to change. And you think about the years that we've been working together since 2013 when we first started. Well, at that point, the warriors were the worries were coming, but not not that long before that they were horrendous. Okay, a decade before that, we watched the Tampa Bay at that point. Still, Devil rays playing the world Syriza, all right. In 2008. We've seen team We've seen the Arizona Cardinals before they were the most recent decent or very good adoration of cardinals. But, like right before we saw them get to the Super Bowl like these teams, you're not destined..

"We're already starting to see that there might be incentives now added to it. How do you guys feel that it's worked out? And how do you think it can be used to work better? You have great questions. So look in terms of my father's contribution Large. You know when when he was alive, you did. Really? You saw some significant progress. You you now have 40% of the assistant coaches. What which aren't Say Rooney rule interviews are minorities. You have a 20% increase or 20% total of on field officials, minorities, including women. Now you had a 300% increase in terms of the head coaches and 10 of those folks. These air head coaches and general managers went to the Super Bowl. So so during his lifetime, you really did see a significant Increase from before the rule until after the rule. But you know things have have gone toe where? As we said they're not where you want them to be, um, numbers, you know? Yeah. You know, the you know, having just four coaches. I think it is. Something that would frustrate my father. Um so so you can look at these numbers and you could be and should be frustrated going forward. You know, I think you have a couple things in these proposals that are out right now that there are Important. I don't know if these are the best proposals. I don't know if the mechanisms in which they're being discussed are exactly where we need to be. But the idea that one you know you're looking at, um you know incentives in some type of positive reinforcement when you look at change. In any organization when you have a positive reinforcement mechanism changes more sustainable. So whether this is the right one or not, I think moving in that direction is important. You're looking at now. The requirement that my father fought hard for but but never got there in the room, new rule itself, but assistant coaches, particularly coordinators. Um, you know, hopefully we'll get there in this vote. If not, I think soon you're gonna you're gonna get to the point where something like the Rooney rule will be required with with the assistant coach and then having more than one candidate in the pool. Um, you know, all the data again demonstrates that if you have more than more than one minority candidate in the final candidate pool that the likelihood grows exponentially. That last part right there from Jim Rooney, I think is really key that owners can't look at this as a way to skirt the rules. They can't look at it as well. Let's bring in a minority candidate and let's let's check that box. Let's get that part out of the way in stout instead of genuinely looking at Eric the enemy and saying This guy could be our head coach, that this guy has what it takes and and can represent us. On the flip side of that. Like I'm not here to tell you that the Dan Campbell was not He's not qualified to be a head coach. He's put in his time. As a coach, But when I hear people talk about Eric, the enemy And him not interviewing well. And then I hear Dan Campbell this past week doing his press conference. I go. How in the world you know what I'm gonna let you hear it for a second, and it's funny, but it's It's funny. Ha ha! The way the he's talking about football. I don't know of any of us would be like, Yeah, That's the guy that that wants to do. You want to rep your franchise? Check out Campbell in his introductory press conference, discussing the way the he expects the Lions are going to play football. This place has been kicked. It's been battered. It's been bruised, and I could sit up here and give you coach speak all day long. I could give you, you know. Hey, we're gonna win this many gay I can't. But none of that matters. And you guys don't wanna hear it. Anyway, You've had enough of that. So excuse my language. All right. Here's what I do know. Is that this team is going to take on the idea any of this city all right, and the city's been been down, and it found a way to get up. It's found a way to overcome adversity, All right, And so this team's gonna be built on. We're gonna kick you in the teeth, All right, And when you punch is back, we're gonna smile at you. And when you knock us down We're going to get up and on the way up. We're gonna buy the kneecap off, all right, And we're gonna stand up and then it's gonna take two more shots to knock us down. All right. And on the way up, we're gonna take your other kneecap and we're gonna get up and then it's gonna take three shots to get us down. And when we do, we're gonna take another hunk out of you before. Before long. We're gonna be the last one standing. All right, that's gonna be the mentality. That guy has an NFL head coaching job. And Eric, the enemy does not There's something wrong with the way this system works. We come back. How does Green Bay win the NFC Championship? Is this error Roger's best and last chance to win a Super Bowl..

"Com slash PPV. Now back to Matthew Stafford, is you and I talked about to start the show. This really isn't much of a surprise. Given the rhetoric. We were hearing coming out of Detroit during free agency last year. Did he want out? Did you want to get traded while financially? It wasn't feasible for the Lions at that point, but wait until 2021. The guy's only got 43 million. Um, remaining on a deal that stretches two more years. It was a team friendly extension at the time that he signed it. And now after the year that he had five and 11 for the Lions fourth place as usual in the NFC North. This was very much the final straw for Stafford in Detroit. Here's Michael Rothstein, ESPN Lions reporter on why this was the final year for Matthew Stafford. This season, though it felt and there was never any true evidence, not just stop would never said it. But it just really felt like Matthew Stafford was hitting maybe a little bit of a breaking point with the franchise and with the losing, he was asked whether or not he had it in him to go through another rebuild, and he Deflected the question. He deflected all questions about his future. And this is after year after year after year of him always say I want to be in Detroit. I want to be in Detroit. It was something that was noticeable at the time. During the season. Now I think a lot of people myself included a little bit, brushed it off as it's another bad year, and he wants to see what's going to happen. But there was always this thought a little bit, Maybe in the back of people's heads that this could be it for Matthew Stafford. In Detroit just because of what would be happening at the end of the season that we've seen in the last month yourself. So he goes 12 seasons in Detroit without a single playoff win, had obviously been to the wild card in a couple years with under Jim Caldwell, but was never able to get a playoff victory. Legacy aside the Lions right now we're thinking about Well what convey get in return for Matthew Stafford. And apparently, the selling point is a first round pick. I think that in a year where you have so many quarterbacks, I'm not just talking. Trevor Laurence Justin Fields, Trey lands, You know Zack Wilson. There's a lot of other names on day two that will become available that you could ask. For a first round pick and get that in return. Get the hall that you want back if you are the lions. Well, I want to bury the lead here. First of all, Thank goodness we finally get the perspective of Michael Rosten from Detroit. Okay are Lions reporter He's his voice is soothing. It's soothing my years. This is his Super Bowl Tonight, people nobody bad games, Ross teens had to cover every bad press conferences. Ad head coaching hires bad free agents bad everything. And this isn't like a good story. But at least it's a bigger story, and Matthew Stafford is moving on for Detroit. So it's good to get Ross Teens of perspective on this big story tonight. Uh, Well, I think what it boils down to is this is Dan Campbell. Your guy Courtney? The dude got with GM and said, Okay, so if Matthew Stafford comes back next year What is that going to get us? And they both said, Well, probably fourth place in the NFC North. Maybe third place. We'll see what Chicago does there there a wild card right now for last place in the NFC north next year. So I mean, you just You knew what you were going to get its time. Time for Stafford to see Courtney if, in fact he Congar Oto a team a better team and actually lead them to the playoffs, which is no guarantee that he's able to do Time for him to see if that can happen, And it's also time for the lines to see if they can find somebody better if they could find somebody better and cheaper because that contract has been dragging them down. For many, many years, So I think this is going to benefit both parties. It was time for the clean break. I agree with you, and I think there's a couple teams that come to mind immediately when you're thinking about trade partners. Colt 40 Niners Broncos in Saints, But I would love for the rhetoric to start spitting in the NFL world with the Houston Texans. Maybe Matthew Stafford gets to return home after 12 seasons in Detroit, and maybe to Shawn Watson goes up, Tonto. Motor City up next we get an expert to give you his best bets for tomorrow's championship games is his game night on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. Coming up Monday. It's NFL.

"Right? Um, What about Radio Raheem? He just took a defensive coordinator job with the Rams. Yes. Replaces Brandon Staley. You're not gonna get out of by the Apple after the sample job. You're so right, honey. He where he Morris turned around what the Falcons were doing. There were a disaster in her Dan Quinn and they had a nice little run here. He just got a job to do. And he said, Yeah, no, Dan quit. Yeah, He's a D C for here's a defensive quarter. Yes, I can't remember. But like no, But Eric, the enemy's been calling plays now for what is this third year? I think you know, Nagy got the job without ever really six games, right? If the enemy's running the same offense that he's running under Andy Reid any Reed has vouched for Eric Be enemy and said how he thinks he's going to be a great head coach when he gets the opportunity. Meanwhile, Peterson Nagy guys who and meanwhile, Dan Campbell They're Campbell wasn't in term head coach for like three or four games. I don't even know if he's ever actually called plays. I don't know that either very interim head coach with the Miami Dolphins just for coming because he was replacing because he was on staff when they fired. Sparano. Maybe that's right. But in Syriani never called plays. See that cap, right? That's why you're gonna owe me a bottle of Crown. I think he's getting the Texans. Maybe by the way. Speaking of coaching real quick sidebar, you may approach we talked about coaches. Wayward coach is going to coach for Alabama right next. David just brings him in another one. Doug Marone. Tomorrow's gonna be the old line coach. Why? I mean, like you purposely tanked the game against the Bears. We saw it in plain sight. You are purposely losing that ballgame, handing the bears the victory, right? Mitch never looked better. Never looked better. Never have opened. Cole commit was at the end of the half to get an extra field goal. Oh, my God Early. Don't guard that guy on purpose. You know what happened? Morones coach? Yeah. What is it? I need a job. I just got fired and Jackson. Come on in. You got your bags. All right, the rooms to the right over there. There's we have a fridge. All right, there's the window and go see the equipment, man. I'll get you some shirts and shorts here. Just be ready for practice. That's what I need you to do that. I just can't be ready and make it. Okay, Coach. Whatever. I know you got fired, but in a couple years you'll be fine. But just come coach with me. And he'll be just fine. But just make sure you're on time. Get me a vial of the holy water and go Sprinkle that on him Humble. It's crazy, but the home for wayward coach is it is it Is this Brian in a circle in Tuscaloosa, and it just like Hi, My name's Doug and I was fired to this other coaches. "Admire about Dan Campbell is that He was willing to say things that other coaches because they're trying to be PC or not set too high expectations are unwilling to say, because it could make them look very stupid. We're gonna punch in the mouth. The city's been down. Detroit needs a winner. They got themselves back up a zit town. We need to reflect that The lions will be pushovers all of these things. Look, if the line's end of going forward 12 we play that clip time and time again and make you look foolish. You hang your head in shame if you do not turn this around, So we put a lot out there and fans. Lion San's been beaten down for a long time, so just somebody that can win a press conference somebody they could actually go out there not sound like Some type of nerdy rocket scientists that you know, has marbles in his mouth like Matt Patricia or a guy like Jim Caldwell, who's always very, very close to the vest or think about some of the other wacky people that they've had behind The podium with head coach is Wayne Funds and Bobby Ross. And I mean, these are not exactly Jim Schwartz. Not exactly commanding the room all that much So Dan Campbell gives you a refreshment. It's like, Wow, this guy's got juice. He's got energy. He's got life. The issue is Dan Campbell hasn't been a coordinator Dan Campbell's only Head coach. So if something goes wrong with the offense Oh, If something goes wrong with the defense. Oh, Dan Campbell. You can. You can get people's attention by talking tough by having charisma by winning a press conference, you can get their attention. But you can't win football games that way. I hope Dan Campbell works. I'm worried. This is the next Matt Millen. Matt Millen can talk the talk. Matt Millen sounds like football. Matt Millen was a very good color analyst in terms of sounding like he knows what he's talking about. But when it came to building a roster, assembling a coaching staff, etcetera He.

"But two Paul questions today. Usually we just have one poll question. Some days we have none. When you have two. That means I had a good thought in the morning And then as the day did go on. I said, Wow, I haven't even better thought or something happened. Something did happen. And Campbell had his introductory press conference and old Mile my coach, I'm ready to go. I don't even like to Detroit lines. I'm ready to come play football for you. So I saw that whole Dan Campbell press conference, and I know when it was announced last into the Jets were hiring Robert Salad, People said All look at Robert Saleh. Brandon Tierney Junior pretty much, but look at Robert's Al, I don't think there's a coach in the league that could beat up Robert Salad out. And Then the lines coming out and say, Oh, yeah, You believe that it's the case. You think Robert sounds the toughest football coach and leg? I'm gonna go with Dan Campbell. Look at the size of Dan Campbell and we'll get into the audio later. He's talking about getting knocked down and take it off your leg and still getting hit twice and taken off the other leg. Dan Campbell. That is a football guy. But both were introduced today as the head football coach. Robert Cell of the J. T s Jets, Jets jets, and then Dan Campbell was introduced The dude. Hopefully he's not the dud it in a few years, Dan Campbell was introduced as the next head football coach of the Detroit line, So got me thinking. If you put all the NFL coaches in a steel cage Who comes out on top. Who is the last man standing Now I don't have 32 Twitter options for a poll question on the girl Sethe pool of Twitter. I only have four options. So I think of who do I believe for the fourth toughest coaches in the league? Not the four best Who are the four coaches that if they were to get into a fight all 32, who would be the final four? In the final four. I had Dan Campbell. Head coach lines. Robert Saleh, head coach of the Jets. Mike Vrabel, head football coach of the Tennessee Titans. Let me remind you, he said He was the coach that said of former Patriot three time Super Bowl champ. Also played in Kansas City. Mike Grable said he would cut off his Private parts to win a Super Bowl, his head coach and my rebels, just absolute truck. Then the other coach, Brian Floors. I think those are the four toughest coaches in the National Football League. So who wins in a steel cage match? Talk about that later on the show and play some of the audio from the introductory press conference from one Dan Campbell later the early returns, though, right now, 9.5% say, beef lo Brian Forrest. 23.1% said. Robert Saleh 29.9%, said gang Campbell and still leading the way. 37.4% of the vote is Mike Vrabel. So put that on the back burner and get to that in just a bit. Do a little fight club. It's fight club. Don't talk about Fight Club, but we'll talk about Fight club later it's the sack killed show on CBS Sports radio. Now the other poll question and you could find all these at Sac Albats, CBS Sports Radio. If your team had to give up three first round picks for two Shawn Watson, would you do it? Now, these results have got a lot closer since the last time I read them 52.9% say yes. 47.1% say no. Now, let me just put a little Clarity on the question. Cause they get people that say, boy, Patrick Mahomes. Of course, I'm not going to trade three first round picture asking me if it's my team, though, if your team needs a franchise quarterback. If you are not sold on your quarterback, and you have a team that needs a new quarterback, you don't believe in your current quarterback. If you could get to show Watson would you give up three first round picks, and it may take more than that. Is the reason behind this question. I was really Jimmy Fowler article today from ESPN. He talked to several executives in evaluators around the league. And here's what most said that three first round picks was a common theme in the conversation about the Watson trade. And one executive is NFC executive, which is always vague. You don't know if that's a GM. You don't know if that's like an assistant G M A scout. I don't know what the exact term is just an NFC executive. But that NSC executive said, Oh yeah, when talking about Watson. He's worth at least that Hall would be pretty insane. I've been saying. Ever since this to Shawn wants and stuff has come up. That if the Sean Watson's gotta get traded at a bare minimum three first round picks Now you could get creative. Maybe it's three first round picks you throw in a player. That player is good enough. Does it bump it down to two first round picks? I would say no. But if you go three first round picks I don't think it's just three first round picks. Like I said, maybe a player. Maybe it has to be three first round picks and a second three first round picks and a third or maybe you got a healthy market here, but you have to three teams. And let's just say the first round picks for this year on pretty much of that same ballpark range. You know if you do have a let's let's go with that. The Texans don't want to a Tonga Viloca. Let's just operate under that belief, and they don't want to a tongue of Iowa and you have the Jets and the Dolphins, both offering three first round picks. And the Jets are offering you one of those picks B in the second overall pick in the draft this year and the Dolphins having the third. I don't think that's the deal breaker..

"We'll find out who gets the Houston Texans job is that is just a crazy, tumultuous situation where it seems like there is a lot of dysfunction there and I guess if you're taking that Texans job, your hope is to try to keep the show on Watson there. I wonder what Nicholas Ariel is telling the candidates. For example, they interviewed Erich Be enemy this past week. When the Texans talked to Eric, the enemy. The situation with Shawn Watson has to come up right? And is it more? So how do you plan to keep the show on what's in here? No, it's not that question because that's the G M's job. That's not the coach's job that has to be relationship with to Sean in the coach and clearly to Shawn Watson wants Eric the enemy. And is that enough to keep if they just hired the enemy? Is that enough to keep Shawn Watson. There, according to the Chris Mortensen reporting, I would say no. It's more than just Easterby. Culprit number one here and everyone talks about Easter being trust me. I've done my fair share of yelling about Nick about Jack Easterby. But it's comic there. That's the biggest problem in the organization and let's be real. The owner is not just going to start hating money. He's gonna want to stay there and he's gonna stay is the owner of the football team. I know that we all get in this world. We try to bench and complain and go get rid of the owner. Now. Just get ready, please. It's very rare that the owner says Yeah, I've done good by. You know the fans don't want me anymore. Don't happen recently with my baseball team, the Mets We finally got rid of the world punch. Whoa! That was awesome. And you bring in Steve Cohen most of the time that how many times the fan base is complain about the owner and I'm not saying the complaints aren't Warranted that they definitely are warranted. McNair is not going to step away, though. Anytime soon. It's just not gonna happen. So I wonder if there's any belief inside that organization from all the reporting. It seems as if they're not actively looking to trade him, but they would listen to phone calls right now. I think they know that this is going to be a situation that's going to be tough to rectify. And maybe they're they're gonna have whoever the head coaches as a last ditch resort, whether that's the enemy or someone else and who even knows if the enemy wants the job, and maybe someone looks at that job and thinks whoever takes it that they could convince the Shawn Watson to stay. And if the shop wants and goes Nothing against you. Every hired I just don't trust this organization. I can't stay here any longer. I want out. Then you're gonna have to trade him. And we'll see how many first round picks to Shawn Watson does go for but we'll get into who got higher today in just a second. Let me just give you the poll questions first, and I say questions. That is not a mistake. We got two questions for you today. And one has to do with the show. Matson. If your team had to give up three first round picks with Shawn Watson, would you do it early return 60.9% say yes. 39.1% say no, I'll give you my answer coming up later on. In the program and then who wins a NFL steel cage match between coaches here the four options I wanted to think of who were the fourth toughest coaches in the league. You put them in one of those w W E steel cage matches Or maybe called bar pal Friend of the show. Dana White. Could we get these four guys on fight Island? We get him in an octagon Dana, you'd be down. Of course he'd be down. Think the coaches would be down, though, if we were to put Dan Campbell, Robert Sala, Mike Vrabel and Brian Forrest. So Dan Campbell, the coach aligns who He's a gem of a quote. We'll get into that coming up later, Robert solid, the new coach of the Jets, both their introduced today Rabel coach in Tennessee and remember what he said he would said he said he would cut off. Let me see. I could phrases on the radio has Mr Peabody So in a Super Bowl. He said he would cut that off. Yes. If you don't know what I'm talking about your Johnson your mail private part. He said he would cut that off when a Super Bowl is the head coach. Now, remember, my fable has three rings already as a player, but he wants one as a head coach, and then the other one will be Brian Forrest, the head football coach of the Miami Dolphins. Early returns on that. Four is 6.7%. Then at 26.7%, Robert solid 29.3%, Dan Campbell and leading the way 37.3% Mike Grable. So I'll answers. I'll answer both of those questions before we do say goodbye at 10 P.m. Eastern seven Pacific, but Filling out the Eagles made a coaching higher today. And his name is Nick Syriani. Now. Nick Syriani is the head football coach or now the Philadelphia Eagles because the offensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts, I'm going to do something that's not popular in my profession. I'm going to tell you I know very little about Nick Syriani. I knew he was the offensive coordinator last year, the Indianapolis Colts, but he's not calling the plays. That's Frank Reich. Frank Reich is running the show. And Nick Syriani is 39 years old. I was looking at his resume before the show. He went toe college at Mount Union. That is in Ohio. He was the defensive backs coach there, then bounced around to another college is well, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, then was with the cheese for a while. So he was he worked with Todd Haley that was from 09. 2012 his highest position of power with cheese. He was the wide receivers coach for a year. Then he went to San Diego was with the Chargers. And the Los Angeles Chargers is while San Diego and Los Angeles from 2013 all the way up to 2017 here's a quarterback coach for a little bit wide receiver coaches well and then got his first big gig. In the National Football League and 2018 as the offensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts now becomes the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. And what's unpopular about to do is I'm gonna tell you I just don't know much about him. There's always and maybe there's more surprising hires this year we knew about Brandon Staley. I didn't expect him to get a head coaching job this year, and I think if you would ask anyone before the year hey, Brendan cells in their head coaching job at the end of the season, no one would have said yes. You look at Dan Campbell. Even Dan Campbell joked about him. We knew Dan Campbell is playing the league and Dan Campbell is well has been with the Saints for a while, is the Internet coach with the Miami Dolphins after Joe Philbin got fired, But Dan Campbell even joked about it today. I probably got a job because they thought they were hiring Matt Campbell from Iowa State. So there has been some hires this year where you go. I wasn't expecting that. But just because you weren't expecting that person to get hired, or you don't know much about them. Doesn't mean that they can end up being a good coach. I do find it Funny How everyone Now in the media is the Knicks Syriani f, You know, expert today? That everyone knows who nixed Syriani is I don't even know if I'm pronouncing his name, right? I don't even know if most people know how to say his name. I'm just concerned with now have in Syria connected to my phone in my brand new computer. Every time I say Nick Syriani is Syria could ask me what I want my computer to do. So can he be a successful coach with the Eagles? Yeah, he could be a successful coach. I'm not going to sit here, though, Like so many other of my brethren in the media and tell you all I know everything you know, and I know about everything There is need to know about him. I know about it, but I'm an expert about him. And I've been studying this guy for a long time. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Come on. Be ask you don't you don't know much about him. I'm sure that there are some that know about it because the frank right train. Also, Frank, right, used to be the offensive coordinator with the Eagles won the Super Bowl, but how many people were talking about Nick Syriani? Not even having a week ago. Did anyone think this guy was gonna head coaching job? I'm not saying a year ago two years ago. How about seven days ago? Did anyone think this guy was getting head coaching job? Trace your Colts fan? If I would have told you two weeks ago. Let's be fair two weeks ago, right before your playoff game, going up against Buffalo bills that Nick Syriani Was going to get a head coaching job. You would've said Want to may? No way..
