"Yeah friends come a little closer to the fire that's right I make my cereal the old fashioned way billable with grain binding agents and sugar and I stir them up in a bowl and I kept them over this in this kill and that's how I make my cereal my name is Justin mcelroy I'm cereal enthusiasts Oh you don't you don't for Jerem? CEO of the same kiln I mean amateur mistake I get it but I'm Dan bear and I am a true story blacksmith and make this boom the bowl the kitchen table kitchen the milk and you make the milk yourself don't ask too complicated series levers and pulleys involves fire this is the empty bowl it's a meditative podcast about Syria which sounds like a joke but it's is not we make a podcast that is designed to be a a relaxing calming experience That just happened to be about the best food I think best food around in town that's where I'm at I don't WanNa roughly feathers the like pizza but cereals the best for me eighty you think it'd be tough this long pizza biweekly God quad weekly let's let's not spending more time Extolling the virtues of cereal right down to the nitty gritty and I am I'm not blue about these I t's stories we've got coming out of high in fact you might say about this first three stories I'm very excited I mean in some sense of the word everything we're gonNA talk about evolves blueberries I don't know why that sort of the hit vary in terms of the cereal market right now but I'm all for it because when it's done right it's really right but basically these first three stories come from the same source which was a twitter follower named Devon who I'm very thankful to for a sort of sharing can insider glimpse at some cereals that do not have their box art developed yet but very much exists as cereals in both name concept and execution but the first is something we sort of knew about obviously we all remember a couple weeks back when we were talking about Eggo cereal and how the brand said on twitter that if they get ten thousand retweets they would bring back cereal and I remember we we try to recall them on their bluff saying that you kind of know how long it takes to make a new serial so it's very unlikely that their decision to do this is actually contingent on anything we do right right it's not a it's not up to us but I sort of like to think that we swayed it because by the time that we mentioned it already been like several days after they tweeted it but it was it was lingering very purgatory four thousand retweets but days after we talked about it on the show which has shot up over ten thousand so it's either we made it happen win or they faked it so either way I think we Where the winning party here they kind of threw us for a loop in that there's no word yet that the actual maple cereals coming back but we do have photo evidenced now the blueberry eggo cereal that is coming soon from Kellogg's I love that flip mask and because they combine the blueberry and Sergi flavors in With the Harrow piece I think that is going to be a g annual delight yeah I mean obviously we're all we're all missing waffle crisp it's left that griddle hole in my heart and so that's why I'm a little bit confused this isn't tapu a little bit worried just because the Cap'n crunch blueberry pancake cereal wasn't all that in terms of you know the maple leanness so going into this one with a little bit of trepidation I I would very much like for you to continue well this on obviously can almost entirely can be attributed to you for returning but blueberry muffin toasters formerly known as Blueberry Muffin tops We had a rumor that they were coming back we had like a shot of the image or the Sarah a shot of the logo but now we have an actual photo of the cereal which not is looks exactly like it used to so it seems they heard the cries of us again and again on this show and they made it happen I This is a thrill for me I I'm a died the wall Blueberry Muffin tops fan so thrilled to have it to have it back it is a is a lovely lovely area that I I am so excited to have back on on store shelves the quote that the contribute to you on the box if I see you've put in a A bit of Blueberry Muffin tops more into the supposed here a video of the bag station pass that we did at our our our blueberry Muffin tops event that we held on that one packs Boston what are the odds we can make something like that happen again by sheer force of will I think they probably learn their lesson from the spent the first time which is to say too much too much money but people are still talking about it here we are years later it's true let's let's let's keep going another more berry more vary return return four fairy so this one's probably the least interesting but coming from the same source we also know that mixed berry filled mini wheats are returning this was something that ah first appeared as touches fruit in the Middle Mixed Berry mini wheats which is just a whole hassle to say so glad that they brought back the same you know probably generics blend of strawberries blueberries raspberries that we normally see in mixed berry confections and you know sort of putting that little dollop inside the defrosted mini wheats I can't say that I'm terribly excited for this because I know it's just GonNa be really dry but I mean if that's your that do the texture with the Phil shredded many weight I find that doesn't really do anything just because they don't put enough of it in there okay I'll be obvious I'm not surprised that they didn't sort of Turkey base it to the brim with actual jelly but you know how actually crunchy and like hey it is beat shredded wheat brick that it's very much like finding you know the the blueberry needle in the haystack right we've got this is not I like this this is adjacent this for this final story cereal adjacent yeah like I was saying earlier obviously it's been a little bit center latest episode but when we were first going to record this there was like nothing happening in the real world and then the day or two after all this blueberry news came up but I was sorta strange find things that were serial Jason and I still think this warrants inclusion just because I have it in my fridge right now actually waiting to try but board and farms introducing three New County Fair inspired milks. Obviously we've tackled some cereal Jason things like Pompton hurts but I think milk is pretty much fair game yes right but especially when the the flavor of these milks are respectively cotton candy blueberry cobbler and Banana Taffy milks banana taffy is such a wild swing like what a big a big vulgar call the aching they're with that what you could've done elephant ear milk yeah like just as sweet sentiment Kinda deal Oh back they think that'd be cool it's just a wild swing that this survey and it's such a strange leap to make I think we talk a lot about how like the cereal industry is struggling to keep pace with like new consumer audiences but Milkman the early seems to be having an identity crisis this but After I I tweeted about these the company reach out to me about mailing me some sort of a a cooled container they were very very specific about the fact that someone it should be there to receive the milk's before they went to a lot of pressure yeah but I mean they're in my fridge right now and it's just a matter of what specific serials should I pair each of these with to make you know the perfect cocktail thoughts on that You know I think like the first thing that sprung to my mind is like wheaties and Banana Taffy like that to me sounds like really that sounds very good or like maybe like cotton candy with kicks like that might be nice yeah it's gotTa be something subtle really yeah that you absolutely Eh but I was gonNA say Blueberry Cobbler and Golden Grams almost a done deal my book Oh boy oh boy that would be delicious wow I will be honest with you I have held off on reading your view of this first area because I am so excited about it an I I am so hopeful that it delivers in the big bowl flavor department so just to preface we've gotten a lot of what seasonal limited edition cheerios do you have like a complete track record of trying most if not all of them county honest I told actually this is just a specific flavor that we've talked about this underrepresented in the world that I would love to see more more progress on I think it's that isn't my main the main appeal for me yes you draw out the lead here a little bit more we've had strawberry cheerios great pumpkin spice cheerios probably the best pumpkin spice cereal peach cheerios for all right and then most recently the blueberry cheerios which I think you know obviously there ahead of their time and these are the blueberry series are going to have a heck of a time catching up but none of those does compared to in my opinion these latest one's toasted coconut cheerios. Something that I heard about I saw the boxer ahead a sort of a beach umbrella in it and I after having tried toasted coconut choose already I have to say this is this is a top contender for the year in my book wow I didn't expect that even the biggest coconut person like almond joy mound but they really nail it here in that it's not the the boring like Baker's coconut or tropical coconut that you see in like your Special K's and your other addition varieties that sliver these little chocolate chunks of coconut in there right now they really do the honey nut cheerios approach here of just glazing on a very like macaroni coconut forever it's just enough understated toy prop up that that cheerios boat base and really makes thing that's much more minimalistic yet effective than pretty much anything else that's being put out in a series game right now wow that is huge praise is it is there anything texture textually the his changed for this I know sometimes with some of the Cheerios we've seen like a little bit of like extra extra crunch on there is there any textual component on this or is it just a coconut flavor now it's basically like you so you have your plain cheerios which are super dry in place when you have your chocolate peanut butter cheerios that are all powdered up dusted up but these are like the honey nut cheerios and that their love it sticky you know a little bit it was a thin veneer on top of it but it's nothing that you would notice an industrial mental sense definitely.

"Just wait just just way. There's going to be shattered. Apps disappear your tackle box thing. I granted him last night because he lost a bowl how you lose a bo actually losing eros but you'll lose the bowl stuff disappearing out starting to come back around but yeah he found got on grounded but a kid but i had to they try to find a way to express him that it was not acceptable to lose the whole bo- man anyhow blaine baseball don bear hunt no sell me. I'm bare sell me on bear bait so anywhere that you can hunt bears over bait. It's a management demint tool for the powers that be that have the data that we want to achieve harvest objective of taking out a certain number of bears. That's the the way that the only way they can do it. I mean you you look at any place where it's legal debate bears and it is a management tool spot and stalk hunting could not take out the number knbr bears that they need and so they use bathing as a management tool for bears started the first bear ever saw in michigan. Yeah grew up there. There's bears there. My brother drew bear tag. We put out a loophole is never saw dan bear. He put his debate pile within a couple of osama. I bear you know what i'm saying. It works just flat sick grandma. Why do game fish agencies need to reduce the numbers bears. That's just i mean just like every other thing. There's a suitable amount of habitat. I mean like we've got x. Number of available quality habitat for mayors those bear that bear population relation will remain healthy if it stays at these numbers bear populations increased by ten percent per year if you don't if you don't harvest these is bears than overpopulation isn't like the end of the world but if a block habitat supposed to can can feasibly hold ten bears it's got fifteen in it all fifteen or compromised in some way so why not take out those five balance it and have have a population that stadium is just just like any other species but you're talking about a little bit different situation when we're talking about a big predator that there's a lo- cultural cultural tolerance for a bear being on your back porch eat and your bird seed as opposed to dear. I mean i think the wiz at a run in we just had a bear in our neighborhood bears not alive anymore and he was killed by a hunter see i mean that's that's the thing bears are going to be taken out of the population. So why wouldn't we use hunting in arkansas like so arkansas reinstated his bare season in nineteen eighty so from nineteen eighty to two thousand one. They're all you can do in arkansas would be equivalent to a western spots dot com okay. I mean you had to go out and just honam okay successfully. Oh i do that now by choice yeah. I do that now about choice but i'm i'm giving you an example silver twenty one years you could only hunt in that way in arkansas and they killed. I don't have the exact data but i'm going to guess less than twenty bears a year. I mean because it's just such a tough hunt is just such a low odds hunt. I mean it. Bears were being killed just by happenstance by walking past the deer hunters where these for opportunistic yeah yeah opportunistic deer hunters killing bears so so basically the bear population got to point where they said man. We've got to take out three hundred bears a year. How we're gonna do that. Well arkansas the furthest. You can see me directions about fifty yards in most places that's not by spot and stalk hunting and they said we're going to use bow hunters over bait on private land to manage the bears arkansas. It's all the same thing in southeast oklahoma so where people have a problem with. Is this emotional sense that some way it's not fair fair to put out bait and draw burien well. My position on it is is that if if the goal of conservation nation is to strategically take out animals bear baiting is has the opportunity to be highly selective..

"What is your name? Where are you from name is Corrie from Connecticut? Hey, corey. But my question is so about ten years ago Chris rundown. Jim in Connecticut will indie show. My question is what crazy stories are funny moments that you have from any sorta Indies shows you've done in the past ten years ago at an indie show, and Dan bear eating Russell, you were just there for an appearance, Dan. When I left wrestling when I left WB, I just did some signings here and there, but you wanna talk about Indies true Indies for me was basically only ninety nine hundred ninety two nine hundred ninety two and ever since. Then I had a full-time gig in wrestling. So I mean, you know, I remember one time we got booked in a place called rim. B L Berta. I'm sure the Calgary boys on their Arabia's rim. Be represents. Wow. And they booked a wrestling show the night of the you guys would call homecoming the night of the homecoming college, social beer bash. So the college had a thousand people for the beer bash, and we had seven people. Now when you say Christie Russell Russell main in front of seventy thousand people what's it like it's just one big giant animal when you Russell in front of seven people, you can see each and every person. And they're all thinking it was shows that the beer bash. And I'm thinking the beer batter. You know, and you would get stuff like that. That happens all the time. But that's how you cut your teeth. And that's where you learn another model of mind is Tanner ten thousand whether you have a small crowd or whether you have a huge crowd. You put on the same show. You don't ever punish the people who came to see you, you know, because it's just as embarrassing for them as it is for me. So we're all in this together. Let's have a good time. Agree. Thank you. And thank you for your question. Next up. What is your name? And where are you from? Hey, I'm Jesse and I'm from Seattle. Nice seattle. Go hawks. Go hawks. What is your question for Chris? Basically, I want to know man, you've been traveling around the world for all these years as a wrestler and performed in front of audiences like crazy, right? Then you start doing fuzzy in the first time you get in front of a ban. Herb as a band in front of a huge crowd. Were you nervous is it different? "I mean, you think about the transfers we've had that Dan bear girl from Arkansas all American. She is a powerhouse and the s the Benita girl from Yukon, she is a powerhouse to. It's just a testimony to what he's done and Howard girl from Powell I really don't believe we are beatable. I mean, we have got one hell of a ball club. And and my hat's off to ESPN also a leading the Asia Wilson become a new commentator. They've really done a good job with that hats off the SPN again. Thank you. Much. Mark is up next in Newton mass. Hey, mark. Hey. Well, so thinking about this situation out at Missouri. I think there's two key components that we bet have been touched on already on this program. You have academic integrity, and you have extra benefits first off. I think any institution of learning in America has to have a clear policy for academic integrity, which these schools do. But once he started talking with the athletes and the academic integrity. It gets a lot more confusing and the policies need to be incredibly clear, and if they are in violation there have to be consequences for that. I think that's that's clear. Another thing we have to talk about is Ben it was extra benefits which NCWA has has is that's their rule. And that that rule is completely. It's it's a bad. There's no way is about that these athletes are treated differently and to create a ru. Saying they can't be he's already in and of itself, creating an issue, and you know, so if we go back to North Carolina increase, which I don't know if we want, but we'll do it. Anyway, if you go back to North Carolina case, there's an academic integrity issue of creating fake classes. But there was no extra benefits issue with that. Because fifty percent of the people in those classes were not athletes. Right. So as a academic and athletic society, we have to actually create real guys is instead of having a question, Mark Anderson. Senate listening to you do a resuscitation of the case, why do you think the NCW came down so hard on Missouri? I think they came so down the came. So now hard on Missouri. Because there are no there's no regulation right now. There isn't they use words. This is classic NCWA creating words that have no meaning like student athletes. Extra benefit those words have no meaningless you make bad news for you. They do have made. They're against the rules. They're very specifically. I I mean, if you're going to be a member institution you're going to adhere to the rules, right? But you have to create you can't say. Bogus. You have to create lows. This is another case where is UNC worse than Missouri. Hey, mark. Did you do you do you know who who who Tate's? And decides on what the NCAA bylaws are will the member institutions? He's gotta right back. Well, but what you have to. I think you have to create a legitimate regulation, and you have to actually I didn't have a they have a legitimate regulation. Whether you like it or not they have a committee on infractions made up of representatives of member institutions, Paul happen. Three hundred more times. No, it's not is. It is academic in dishonesty is not.

"It really is an honor for me to say, Dan bear. I welcome to first-class fatherhood. Trey thanks for having me. All right, Dan. Let's start here. How many kids do you have? And how old are they? Have one baby. Boy, he will be one in two weeks. Wow. Okay. Brand new are you working on number two yet or you one and done? We're not done. We're just thinking short break. Also, like your style, Dan. All right. Did you did you do any kind of gender reveal to find out what the sex wasn't? Did you wait it out? So the end. We didn't do like a reveal like you see on Facebook Instagram, but we found out what we were having told our family headed time. Very cool. All right, Dan. Please take them into here to hit my listeners a little bit about your background. And what you do. Yeah. So I was in the army for six years to by belt. I got out. And I I did when I thought most people were supposed to do in the military. You know, I went to college graduated college got a corporate job, and I traveled on that passed. But along the way on that I was missing that the area. So I ended up starting if business called. Through flags. Give back to veteran owned nonprofits and a creative and stable way. So actually donate money to nonprofit called stop the suicide and in two and a half almost three years business donated over forty thousand dollars to them, and I make actually tennis lodge inspired American flags from are made out of duty fatigues and others outside. But it's all about getting back to the military in the veterans community and making some cool stuff along the way. Yeah. What an important mission, Dan. And thank you for your service. It's awesome. That you're in a position to be able to give back and help your fellow veterans. So many of our warriors they struggle once they leave the military in the sense that they're unsure of what to do next. You have found your footing and you found some some good success. What type of advice, do you have for other veterans that are out there maybe struggling with that what next and have dreams of possibly starting a business of their own? Yeah. So the biggest thing for me as I've talked with other veterans dropping..

"First of all this game was just the most anticipated title. Anyone the moment the moment you played Mars sixty four. You started dreaming about what Zelda game could be like, I'm a huge fan of linked to the past before the release of this my favorite game of all time. And so fast forward to the launch in November in early November second week of November Nintendo invited a bunch of journalists to Julius castle. This this kind of touristy restaurant in the city. They were trying to theme there event as you can tell castle, right? Call Julius castle Julius. Yeah. And so they were they had fifteen demonstation setup misdemeanor. Motta was in the room has translated Miyagawa. You still have a picture from the event. And so the first they made us do this really dumb like scavenger hunt through the streets of San Francisco. Did they make you wear neck as well? No, that's that was the style of the day look at Casamassima with his that's a drug his giant. That's drug. Limousine. We are in a limo. That's right. So it was the the boondoggle that you don't see nowadays anymore way. They they just tried to put on a fun event. All we were thinking. Of course, the entire time was just let us play the game. Right. And so you're supposed to find these people around San Francisco's cold. Of course, the city's not that warm in the winter, and like you'll see some of the other photos, they had placed NPC's around the city not themed after the legend of Zelda. But like a guy like looking like a wizard, and like a sore, Lance Lauder, some just Dan bear fantasies deemed, very strange. Listen, we go wizard here. So of course, we haven't played Carino of time at the at the time here. So we didn't know if this was actually character that we'd find in the game. But the answer's no, it's we call him, Mr. waffles. So this whole thing ended up at Julius castle. We got to sit down with fifteen there were fifteen demonstations people from like game informer and GM and some some. Other websites where there weren't that many websites at the time, and we got to play this game for five hours all this Orleans lot. Yeah. I don't think. Good. And so. Yeah. Five hours, if you think of ochre enough time, if you've never played it, you can imagine people got stuck in all the different all all sorts of different places. And you know, you'd look over to the the guy next to you playing be like, hey, how'd you get the horse already? And so kind of people are exchanging ideas, Mr. Miyamoto was walking around behind us watching us play on the screen. It's the the most nerve wracking thing and like you'd go off in the wrong direction. He'd kinda like shake his head and. No one doing. So that was my first year where you got to. Did you get to talk to Princess L in the castle? This is. Here's here's me a motor holding year magazine. Well, you only made one magazine this was when imagine media parent company was thinking about creating an end sixty-four magazine. It was just difficult to make this work as a business because there weren't that many games, right? And you need advertisements. So we did a one off magazine. Justice issue. Yeah. Just this issue. Wow. I could have brought this on I have it. It's very, and we have it right here. But I signed by Matin perr. That's awesome. I haven't signed by Mr. Mueller do a little better. But for five hours, and it was just we were all smitten. Everybody just wanted to keep playing it. They didn't give us the game right there. But instead it arrived three days before it was out. We got a copy gold copy. And then we just locked ourselves. Was it actually exciting and fun to play first time. Yes..
